Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse Jeremiah 9:24 says, but those who wish to boast should boast in this that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfair, failing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. Jeremiah stands outside the temple entrance and prophesies to the people of Judah. They've come to worship God inside the temple, but outside they make sacrifices to idols and false gods. Can you imagine? They pretend like he can't see them there and it seems like they're not really worshiping God anyway. They're worshiping the temple building. God rebukes them, expressing his strong disapproval. The people are breaking nearly every commandment. Stealing, murdering, committing adultery, lying and worshiping other gods. God calls them to change the way they treat others and to change the way they treat Hate him. He promises that if they do, he'll bless them. But if they don't, he'll cast them out. And like you've probably guessed, they don't change their hearts. Jeremiah probably knew that they wouldn't change. And of course God knew. Jeremiah is heartbroken over Israel's sins and his own. God leads with love. Even when we read Bible passages like today's three chapters where there is a lot of judgment, his love is still there. In Today's Bible, verse 9:24, God says that he demonstrates unfailing love and brings justice and righteousness to the earth. Not only does he bring these things, he says he delights in these things. Love, justice and righteousness bring joy. So of course he's where the joy is.
