In Genesis, chapter 50, verse 20, Joseph says to his brothers, you intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. People. Before Jacob Israel dies, he remembers the promises God made and kept. God gave his family land and many descendants. Jacob blesses Joseph's two sons before he dies, and he blesses them as if they were his own children, making sure that they are heirs to the land God gave them and the promise he made to their family. What's an heir? Well, I'm so glad you asked because it's a word to remember.

An heir is someone who gets money or property when someone else dies. Then Jacob Israel gathers his own sons and gives a final blessing. And Judah gets a special blessing. All of Jacob's sons have sins recorded in Genesis. So even though Judah gets a special blessing, it's not because he's perfect. Instead, it's because of God's promise. One of Judah's descendants will be Jesus. Do you remember that word? Grace? This is an example of grace getting a good thing that we don't deserve. Jacob Israel has 12 sons and each of those sons has many more children. Each family becomes a tribe making up.

Hold on to that thought because we'll come back to it soon. When Jacob Israel dies, Joseph's brothers panic, thinking he'll get revenge on them now. But Joseph has already forgiven them. Before Joseph dies, he says like his father did, that he doesn't want his bones left in Egypt. He wants to go to the land God promised. God has been working his plan from the beginning. Have you heard Jesus called the lion of Judah? When God blessed Abraham and Isaac and Jacob Israel, he wasn't only blessing their families. When Jacob gave a special blessing to Judah's family line, he blessed the family line that Jesus would be born into. And through Jesus God Bless blesses every family on earth.
