Today's Bible verse Exodus 36:3 says the people continued to bring additional gifts each morning. God's people's hearts have been so moved by his mercy that they bring their offering after offering after offering for the tabernacle. Moses even has to tell them to stop giving things because they've given more than enough to build the tabernacle. God's people who had just sinned against him by worshiping the golden calf have repented and turned back to Him. They work very carefully to follow all of God's precise instructions for building the tabernacle. Every part of the tabernacle has a special meaning and represents or stands for some piece of our relationship with God. The brass altar represents Jesus sacrifice. The washbasin represents being washed clean of our sins. The menorah or lampstand represents the light of the Holy Spirit in us. And the ark represents God's presence with us today.

God shows himself to us in so many ways even though they don't fully understand it. When they build tabernacle God's way, the Israelites are building symbols that point to Jesus. Even tabernacle furniture is helping us see more about who Jesus is. It's actually laid out in the shape of a cross. God wants us to learn more about him because he's where the joy is.
