Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse Leviticus, chapter 14, verses 3 and 4 says if the priest finds that someone has been healed of a serious skin disease, he will perform a purification ceremony. Today, God keeps going with more rules about being clean and unclean. So let's review some big ideas before we recap today's details. God is perfect and holy, and we are not. We are sinners who live in a broken world. And in a broken world there are sicknesses, infections and even mold. At the time God was speaking to Moses, there were no antibiotic medicines or bleach. So in today's reading, God is being kind by telling his people how to keep themselves and their homes healthy. God also gives lots of instructions for offerings. Why an offering? Well, it requires a cost from the person making it. People give something to take the place of their debt of sin and it helps the person making the sacrifice draw near to God because they have to go to the entrance of the tabernacle. God wants sinners to draw near to him. And again, God makes sure to note here that poor people should give a less costly offering. This shows his heart is for all people. God heals and God makes us clean. In chapter 14, verses 3 and 4, after the man with a serious skin disease called leprosy is healed, there is still a cleansing process. This is a picture of what's to come through justification and sanctification. And wow, those are two really big and really important words to remember.
B
Words to remember. Justification is when God declares us righteous because of what Jesus did for us.
A
Justification is a one time thing, like the healing of a man with leprosy.
B
Sanctification is a lifelong process of God making us more like him.
A
And sanctification takes much longer. Kind of like how the healed man still needs to become clean. God heals and justifies and then God cleans and sanctifies. He's with us the whole time and he's where the joy is.
