Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse. In Numbers 29:35, God says, On the eighth day of the festival, proclaim another holy day. You must do no ordinary work on that day. God sets out the guidelines for the religious calendar they'll observe. Once they get to the promised land, they'll be spread out all around the land. So he's coordinating their schedules now. Each day will begin and end with worship, a sacrifice at sunset and at sunrise, with twice that number required on the Sabbath. This may seem like a lot of sacrifices to us today, and it would have felt like a lot of sacrifices to the Israelites then. But the sacrifices remind them that God is in charge of providing for them, and he always will. We don't have to offer these same kinds of sacrifices to God today, but we still need to be reminded that he provides for us. We have the opportunity to do that by giving to the church. Do you remember that word? Tithe? And also by resting and spending time with God. On the Sabbath today, Baja, God wants us to spend time with him and he wants us to rest. In all the rules and instructions he's giving his people, he talks about two of them repeatedly. To have no other gods before him and to rest. Most of the things that we make into gods today require more work from us. Being popular requires more work. Having nice things requires more work. Getting better jobs requires more work. God wants us to stop and to rest and to trust him to provide everything we need. He's where the rest is, and he's where the joy is.

In this episode of The Bible Recap Kids, Miss Emily takes young listeners through Numbers chapters 28–30, focusing on God's instructions for Israel's religious calendar and the meaning behind their practices. The central theme is understanding why God gives rules about sacrifices, rest, and worship, and how those things help remind His people (including us today) to trust Him as the provider.

Every day starts and ends with worship: "A sacrifice at sunset and at sunrise," Miss Emily explains.
On Sabbaths, twice as many sacrifices are offered.
Purpose of sacrifices: They remind the people that God is their provider.
"The sacrifices remind them that God is in charge of providing for them, and he always will."

Israel’s sacrificial system may sound strange or like “a lot” to us, but it had important meaning.
Miss Emily reassures listeners that while we don’t do these same animal sacrifices today, we’re still called to trust God to provide.
"We don't have to offer these same kinds of sacrifices to God today, but we still need to be reminded that he provides for us."

Modern ways of honoring God:

God wants us to rest, not just work more and more.
Rest is important because it builds trust in God’s ability to provide.
"God wants us to spend time with him, and he wants us to rest."

Miss Emily highlights two things God mentions repeatedly:
Most of the things people turn into “gods” today—popularity, nice things, jobs—require more work, not less.
"Most of the things that we make into gods today require more work from us… God wants us to stop and to rest and to trust him to provide everything we need.”

At the end, Miss Emily brings together the idea that God’s plan is not about rules for rules’ sake but about giving His people rest and joy.
"He's where the rest is, and he's where the joy is."

Miss Emily uses relatable language and simple examples to help young listeners grasp how God’s rules in Numbers connect to the themes of rest, trust, and worship today. The key lesson is that even though we no longer make sacrifices the way Israel did, we can still remember that God is the provider and that real rest and joy are found in time spent with Him.
