Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse, Deuteronomy, chapter 6, verses 4 and 5 says, Listen, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord alone, and you must love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. Moses tells the people that God's covenant didn't die when their fathers died. God's covenant is with them, too. They have their own relationship with God. When God rescued their parents and their grandparents, he rescued them too. God is going to punish his enemies for their wickedness and drive them out from the promised land. But not all at once. He has a plan and a process. Process. So Moses warns them that even when it seems like the land will never be all theirs, they should keep trusting God. In chapter six, there's a prayer called the Shema, which is, of course, a word to remember. Words to remember. Shema is from a Hebrew word meaning here. It's an important Jewish prayer made up of Old Testament scriptures. Jesus quotes the Shema in the New Testament, and today religious Jewish people still pray this prayer twice a day. The Shema teaches that God's word should fill our hearts, our minds and souls when we wake up, when we eat, when we go to school, when we go to church, when we go to bed. We should remember God's words today by God. God is generous. He's going to give the Israelites land, cities, vineyards and wells. And what did the Israelites do to earn these things? Nothing. He wants them to always remember that it was God who gave them their home and it was God who chose them to be his. He is so generous, and he's where the joy is. Sam.
