Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse.

In Deuteronomy, chapter 20, verses 3 and 4, Moses says, Listen to me, all you men of Israel. Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today. Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them, for the Lord your God is going with you. He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory. Today, Moses gives laws about worship in the promised land. If someone is caught worshiping false gods, they will have to go on trial for their life because there are serious crimes with serious consequences. God sets up a court system with priests and judges whose wisdom will guide them. Moses also knows that one day the Israelites will decide that they want a king just because all the other nations around them have kings. So he says that the future king must have his own book with God's laws written in it. God tells his people how to deal with the cities outside of the promised land. If they are peaceful, then the Israelites will take over the city peacefully. If they fight, then the Israelites will wipe them out. God is using the Israelites to fulfill his promise of land to them, to get rid of temptations to idolatry and to bring justice to wicked nations. God made a way for us to be with Him. When the Israelites were scared or doubting, God wanted them to know that he was with them. Our sin means that we deserve to be separated from God forever. But he loves us and he made a way for us to be with him by giving Jesus to take every punishment for every time we have ever sinned or will ever sin. Praise God.
