Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verb in Job 23:14, Job says, he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny. Job's friends, like a video on loop playing over and over and over again, keep telling Job that his sin is the reason for his hardship. You know, it's easy to look at Job's friends now and roll our eyes at how wrong they were. But we're guilty of this same kind of thinking today. When we see someone doing evil things, we expect that bad things will happen to them. And when nothing seems to happen to them, we ask God why. And sometimes when we do the things we know God wants us to do, we expect a reward for him, even if we don't say that part out loud. Job is mourning, and he's discouraged that he can't find God. Job can't see what God is doing, but he doesn't doubt that God is there. In the middle of his mourning and discouragement, he longs to see God. Job wants to make his case like someone on trial would make their case to a judge. Even when Job is grieving and wondering what God is doing, he doesn't curse God. He holds on to the truth, remembering that God is in control. God is always at work. Even when we can't see what he's doing, he is still completely powerful. So whether you're scared, heartbroken, wondering or doubting, you can still trust that God is at work to bless you. He can be trusted, and he's where the joy is.

In this episode, Ms. Emily guides young listeners through Job chapters 21 to 23, focusing on Job’s continued suffering, his conversations with his friends, and his unwavering trust in God—even when he can’t see what God is doing. The episode helps children relate Job’s experience to their own lives, emphasizing that God is always in control and can be trusted through any circumstance.
Job is discouraged, mourning, and feels like he can’t find God—yet he doesn’t lose hope ([00:47]):
He wishes he could make his case before God, like someone on trial ([01:05]).
Despite his pain, Job never curses God; instead, he holds on to what’s true.
Ms. Emily helps kids understand that even when life is confusing or hard, God is always in control—just as Job trusted. Mistaken ideas about “fairness” are challenged, and listeners are encouraged to trust God in all circumstances because “He’s where the joy is.”
