Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible Verbs in Ruth, chapter 4, verse 17, Naomi and Ruth's neighbors say, now at last, Naomi has a son again, and they named him obedient. He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David. At some point during the time of the Judges, when people do whatever their sinful hearts want, a man named Elimelech takes his wife Naomi and their sons to Moab. Elimelech and his sons die, leaving three widows, Naomi and her two daughters in law behind. Naomi goes back to Israel, and Ruth, one of her daughters in law, goes with her. Her heart is with Naomi, and even though she's a Moabite, she knows and worships the one true God. Back in Leviticus, God gave his people laws to ensure that poor people were provided for by rich people. They had to leave the crops around the edges of their field for the poor. And this is how Ruth came to the field of Boaz, a wealthy Israelite landowner, where Naomi told her to go gather food. Boaz sees her working tirelessly and he asks about her. He's impressed by her devotion to God and her love for Naomi. He treats her with extra kindness. Naomi realizes what's happening and she plays matchmaker for Ruth and Boaz. Boaz marries Ruth and they have a son named Obed. Today's Baja God brings people into his family. Ruth was a Moabite, not an Israelite. And Boaz mom was Rahab, who protected the Israelite spies in her home in Jericho. The son of an outsider marries an outsider and one of their descendants is is King David. We'll meet him really soon. And one of King David's descendants is King Jesus. God welcomes the outsider and makes them part of his family. He's where the joy is. When we read the New Testament, we learn about a group of people who followed Jesus. They were called the Disciples. They loved Jesus so much that they told everyone about him. And that's what we want to do too. And we need your help. Do you know someone who might want to read about God with you? You can invite a family member to join us, or a teammate, or maybe a friend from school. Or better yet, invite them all. We want to share TBR with as many people as we can so that everyone read, understand and love God's word. Who can you invite?
