Hey, Bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse. In 1 Samuel, chapter 1, verses 27 and 28, Hannah says, I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will worship the Lord his whole life. The Israelites, wrapped up in their mess of sin, have decided that things would go better for them if they had a king. Meanwhile, Hannah is devastated because she hasn't been able to have a child. One day, she goes to the tabernacle crying out to God. And because she's praying so passionately, the priest named Eli comes to see what's going on. Soon after that, Hannah and her husband have a son, Samuel. Hannah had promised God that she'd give Samuel back to him, and she does. She brings Samuel to Eli, who agrees to raise him in God's house. Hannah worships God with a song. The song says that God values humility and that God is at work and that God will anoint a future king. Samuel humbly serves God in the tabernacle. God speaks to him out loud when. But Samuel doesn't understand what's happening. Eli tells Samuel how to respond to God, and Samuel delivers a hard message back to Eli. Eli says, the Lord should do what is best. Today's my God. God can be trusted with our hearts. When Hannah is heartbroken over not having a child, she prays she doesn't turn away from God and take matters into her own hands or demand a child from Him. Instead, she brings her sorrow to the one who hears her. He always hears us, friends, and he's where the joy is.
