Hey bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for the kids. You know what time it is, Bible readers? Time for a seven day roundup. First things first, let's zoom out this week. As we got close to the end of David's life, we saw that he reflected a lot on who he is and what God has done for him him. While David made sure his son Solomon would be ready to carry on after him, he also took time to show that he's thankful. David praised God for who he is and all that he's done. We finished two books of the Bible this week. Way to go. Let's make sure we get the big picture. 2 Samuel following David during his reign as king of Israel. We see that even though David is a man after God's own heart, he's not perfect. David's imperfect reign points us toward our need for the perfect king Jesus. And one more big picture first.
B
Chronicles.
A
Chronicles show us a highlight reel of God's covenant with Israel being fulfilled. It's really a big picture kind of book, so some of the details are left out, but there are still plenty of stories in the two books of Chronicles. In the first book we see that God's promise is fulfilled through setting up the monarchy. We learned one new and reviewed two old words to remember.
B
Being humble means thinking of yourself rightly as less important. We also call this having humility. Grace is when you get what you don't deserve. Mercy is when you don't get what you do deserve.
A
And finally, let's look at an application. David is not our hero and he wasn't a perfect king. David knew he wasn't perfect. And we can see this in the Psalms that he wrote throughout his life. But David knew that there is a perfect king in heaven, the King of Kings. David wrote about our perfect king in some of the Psalms. Psalm 108:13 says, With God's help we do mighty things. And Psalm 145:17 says, the Lord is righteous in everything he does. He is filled with kindness. I want to challenge you today to take time thinking about our perfect king of Kings. Draw a crown and write some of the things you've learned about God. I wrote that God is mighty and powerful and loving and forgiving and righteous and kind. He really is the perfect king of kings. He's where the boy is.
This week’s episode of The Bible Recap Kids with Miss Emily (“Miss Emily”) is a special seven-day roundup.
