Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Here we go, Bible readers. It's time for a seven day roundup. Like always, we'll start with a view from way out here.
B
Let's zoom out.
A
There was a lot of action in the last seven days. So Solomon died and Israel was split into two. Northern Israel with 10 tribes and King Jerry, and Southern Judah with two tribes and King Rey. We also finished two more books of the Bible, which means we've read. Drum roll please. 15 books together so far. Way to go. By the way, if you want a trick to help keep these names and places straight, remember that the kingdoms and their first kings are alphabetical from top to bottom. Israel in the north, Judah in the south. Just like in the Alphabet, I comes before J. And we have Jerry in the north and Re in the south. J before R. Let's review those two books of the Bible that we finished.
B
Big picture.
C
Proverbs.
A
Proverbs is a collection of wisdom and advice. Even though man's advice isn't God's law, the wisdom of Proverbs helps God's kids make wise choices. And of course, the best advice in Proverbs points us to God and how much we need Him.
B
Ecclesiastes.
A
Written by someone who calls himself the preacher or the teacher, Ecclesiastes reminds us that the way to a meaningful life isn't through work or riches, but through enjoying God and obeying Him. In the past seven days, we reviewed two words to remember.
C
Eternal means lasting forever, having no beginning and no end. Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge
A
and understanding in everyday life and to close us out. Let's talk about an application. God told Solomon to ask for anything he wanted and he asked for wisdom. James 1:5 says, if you need wisdom, ask our generous God and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. That means we can pray the same prayer Solomon prayed and God will answer with a yes. God is wise and he loves when his kids ask him to make them wise just like him. So ask God for wisdom and see how he answers it with yes.
B
He's where the joy is.
