Hey, bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. It's another seven day roundup. First up, let's zoom out. We've now read 17 books together and tomorrow we cross the halfway point in this trip through the Bible. Congratulations. This week we followed the split kingdom, Northern Israel and Southern Judah, through many kings. Most of them did not live God's way. But there were a few who knew and worshiped God.
B
They found their strength in Him.
A
We finished two more books, so it's time for the big picture. First Kings God gave the law which tells how people should live in 1 Kings, Israel is unfaithful to God again and again and because of their sin they suffer. But God keeps His promises and he is always ready to forgive those who repent.
C
Big picture Obadiah.
A
This short book shows us that nations who oppose God and His people will experience God's judgment. It also points ahead to the glorious promise that God will establish his eternal kingdom. In the last seven days. We talked about three words to remember.
C
Sovereign means to have power and authority over someone or something. God has ultimate power and authority over everyone and everything he's created.
D
A prophecy is a message. God speaks to people through a person. We call the people who speak the messages prophets.
C
Vengeance is justice done on behalf of someone who is mistreated or wronged.
A
And let's talk about our next steps in an application. We've seen in the Old Testament how God called his kids to repentance, turning away from sin and turning toward God. No matter how big their sin. When they confessed and asked for his mercy and grace, he granted their request. Today, God still calls his kids to repentance. Repentance reminds us of who we are sinful and it reminds us of who God is.
B
Perfect.
A
Is there sin you need to confess to him today? It could be an action, word, thought or motive.
B
Pray a prayer. Like God. You are holy and perfect. I know I'm a sinner and I'm going to confess that sin to you now. Thank you for forgiving me.
A
Please help me to live your way.
B
I love you. Thank you for loving me first. Amen. Now listen to God's promise from 1 John 1:9.
A
If we confess our sins to him,
B
he is faithful and just to forgive
A
our sins and to cleanse us from all wicked.
B
Thank you, God.
E
He's where the joy is.
