Hey bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. There were a lot of really hard things this week, so I'm really glad you're here for our seven day roundup. First, we'll step back to remember where we are.

Let's zoom out.
A
We've completed 20 books and this week we've seen some terrible events. Because of their great sin, southern Judah is headed for a downfall. They've been warned by God through prophets, but their hearts are hard and because of their sins, northern Israel has already been captured by Assyria. They've been sent out of the land God gave them. We finished two books this week, so you know what that means.
B
Big picture Amos.
A
A shepherd named Amos is chosen by God to give a message of prophecy to northern Israel. While Israel waits for God to judge their enemies, they ignore their own sin. Amos tells the people God will judge righteously and the faithful will be protected and blessed. And we finished one more small book with a big message.
B
Big picture Micah.
A
Through the prophet Micah, God gives a message to northern Israel and southern Judah. He tells them that their sin will have great consequences and that God is faithful to forgive, protect and restore. We had one new and not so fun and one old and also not so fun.
B
Words to remember Wrath is extreme anger. To be an exile is to be sent away from your land, home and people.
A
It's been a hard seven days of reading, so let's make sure before we go to talk about an application. Just like Israel, sometimes we're so focused on others sins that we ignore our own. Think of the last time you faced a consequence for your own wrong choices. Did you think something like because I sinned, this consequence is fair. I want to pray to ask God to help me live his way now next time. Or did you think something like that's not fair. My brother did the same thing last week and didn't get in trouble for it. If we're honest with ourselves, most of us probably think something similar to the second thought. But the next time you experience a consequence for your sin, pray that God will convict you, showing you your sin. Pray that he'll give you a heart that confesses your sin, asks for forgiveness and commits to living his way. He will help you if you ask him.
B
He's where the joyous.
