What I've learned from over two decades of doing deals is it doesn't matter what happens in the market, the thing that is important is that you master the rules and you know how to play the game.

Timing is a moving target, and you should never wait for the market to move. You should understand what's happening now and what's going to happen in the 12 to 18 months ahead, and then make your strategic moves and your deal based decisions based on what is happening in the future, not just what is happening today.
