Josh Arnold
There's all of us. Hi, we're live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. There's Christy Lee.
Christy Lee
Hello, Josh.
Josh Arnold
I thought before I introduced you I should probably introduce the show as a whole. Nah, Introduced the show as a whole and then introduce the whole.
Christy Lee
Christy Lee.
Tom Griswold
There's. Peg's coming. HR is already on the phone. Scott here.
Josh Arnold
There's Pat Godwin.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
You see what happened?
Christy Lee
No.
Josh Arnold
I ran out of music. There's Willie G. At the NA sports desk. Hey, man, Ace Cosby's over there. And there's Tom.
Tom Griswold
Hey, it's great to be back.
Josh Arnold
It's great to have you back.
Tom Griswold
A little surprise for you guys.
Josh Arnold
You do?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. It's not pizza, but.
Willie Griswold
Pizza.
Tom Griswold
Pizza. If it had been pizza, I would have gotten some sleep.
Josh Arnold
He got us something, but it's cost him. Yeah, there's something. Major sacrifice.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Oh, I know what it is. I know. Okay, I'm not gonna say anything.
Christy Lee
So you've been off for a week and you're tired.
Tom Griswold
You'll understand in a few minutes. All right, I gotta get adjusted. Someone switched my headphones. My chair's been touched.
Pat Godwin
Oh, that Oscar.
Tom Griswold
I am. I'm gonna rope off my area next time. This is why I don't like loading my car out, people. Adjust the chair. The mirrors are all screwed up, people. Oh, yeah.
Christy Lee
They're the worst, aren't they?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Well, this is weird. This is. I'm the only one experiencing this.
Christy Lee
What?
Tom Griswold
My. My. These. My headphones have been switched, but.
Christy Lee
You mean switched. My headphones are weird too.
Tom Griswold
Every. Every set of headphones has got its own little feel.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Terrible.
Josh Arnold
Oh, you have new headphones?
Tom Griswold
Apparently. Yeah, these are better. I don't know.
Pat Godwin
They're the same ones.
Tom Griswold
Really? Then they've screwed up the sound chain. Well, that was a special request. That was a special request for Josh's ten year anniversary. Which was what day?
Christy Lee
Saturday, August 1st.
Tom Griswold
Well, Josh, congratulations.
Josh Arnold
Thanks very much. Thank you. And thank you.
Tom Griswold
This says, this is from James, who wrote Love the show in honor of Josh's anniversary. Is there any way you could get I took a hooker to the prom. Of course. There you go. That's such a nice song. Got another letter on the same topic, by the way.
Josh Arnold
Hookers and proms.
Tom Griswold
No, Josh. It said once upon a time you guys had a lavish celebration for every one of Josh's anniversaries on the show. That apparently has stopped in recent years due to the incessant whining by his co workers who did not receive similar treatment.
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah.
Christy Lee
Wonder who that was.
Tom Griswold
Probably me that's still upset about his birthday cake. That wasn't. Oh, man.
Willie Griswold
I mean, we all know what time it is around here. Josh is the favorite son and I'm his literal son. Like it's. We know what's going on right in our faces. Everybody gets it.
Josh Arnold
That's right.
Tom Griswold
Brian continues writing. I would have thought you should do something to celebrate Josh's 10th anniversary, Tom. I'm guessing you forgot. I wasn't here last week. I didn't hear the lead up to it.
Willie Griswold
It's not that there's an issue with the anniversaries, but they are a little. Remember the one man band? Remember when that guy came out?
Christy Lee
That was awesome.
Pat Godwin
That was your sixth, I think it was. Yeah.
Christy Lee
Keeping track, are you?
Pat Godwin
I am, yeah. It also is 42 years.
Tom Griswold
I mean, it pisses Pat off.
Willie Griswold
And then to celebrate Josh, you bring in a guy that does something that Pat could do.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, that one man band guy was good.
Pat Godwin
Yeah, he was.
Tom Griswold
He was really good. We were surprised.
Willie Griswold
Pat, were you in the like a guitar store later that day just trying to hit cymbals with your guitar to be like, I can do it too, man.
Pat Godwin
No, I look at that and I know. I realize. I realize I could not. It do do.
Tom Griswold
It was fun.
Willie Griswold
It's wacky, man.
Tom Griswold
I think for my next big anniversary, I want to get a plate spinner in here.
Josh Arnold
Nice.
Tom Griswold
I know what you're saying. That's probably the least interesting thing on the radio.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Because it doesn't make any noise.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. But I do love plate spinners.
Christy Lee
Unless they crash.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
And that would be a bad plate.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Plate dropper.
Tom Griswold
Because the plate spinner, to me, that it sort of illustrative of my life. There's all these plates are spinning and every once in a while they fall off. Back to my letter. Brian's letter, I should say. He said, I have provided you, Tom, with a shopping list of things you can get for Josh to celebrate his 10 years in the show. Oh, this is nice. What he suggests, I can only imagine a large sign for Josh's house that reads, live laugh, love. Oh, wouldn't you like that? Wouldn't you like that for your living room?
Willie Griswold
I thought you wanted one of those signs that says, in this house, science is real. I thought that's the kind of guy you were. Don't you have that out still?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. Anytime I see one of those in a yard, I take it and I put it in my yard.
Tom Griswold
Back to the list for Josh for his anniversary on the show. A Blu Ray. Oh, nice. A Blu Ray of the movie Love, actually.
Josh Arnold
Oh, boy, I sure would enjoy that.
Tom Griswold
One of the few people that dislikes that.
Willie Griswold
Is there a box set with that Elf and Ted lasso? The Josh Arnold Hater trilogy.
Tom Griswold
And then I blame myself for this next one. The last thing he says to get more chalk.
Josh Arnold
Oh, my gosh. Yeah. That must have been year one.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Brian, paying. Paying Close attention.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Well, thank you very much, Brian. Yeah. Welcome back. Willie actually was with me. We. We had a nice vacation.
Josh Arnold
Oh, good.
Tom Griswold
A little bit of Colorado action, and I've got a few interesting stories to report. We were at the top of Vale Mountain. Willie and I just walked across seeing some deer. And. What do they call them? No, no, they're called mule deer. They got the big ears. But then we get right to the end near the. Near the gondola, and Willie goes, oh, my God, there are beavers over there.
Willie Griswold
Saw some beavers, y'.
Brian Bates
All.
Christy Lee
Really?
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah, beavers. So I. A friend of mine lives there, so I contacted him immediately, and I said, they have beavers at the top of a mountain. Is there water up here? They're marmots, it turns out. Oh, marmots.
Willie Griswold
Not beavers, y'.
Pat Godwin
All.
Tom Griswold
They look like little mini beavers.
Willie Griswold
They do, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
But we had marmots in the news while you were gone, didn't we?
Tom Griswold
We did, yeah.
Christy Lee
I believe so. We talked about them. I know.
Pat Godwin
That beat a mini.
Christy Lee
Yeah. I can't remember why, but we did.
Willie Griswold
What are those guys up to? Man, they're cute.
Christy Lee
I'll have to go back and look.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I'm ignoring the path. The fact that Godwin just said, you can't beat a mini beaver.
Pat Godwin
Oh, they're cute. I don't like the big ones.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, big beavers have always got to turn me off, too. These are adorable,
Pat Godwin
right? Cute. Wet.
Christy Lee
All right.
Pat Godwin
Okay.
Willie Griswold
They're in the water.
Tom Griswold
Move on. Coming up. I'm excited. We got a great guest, comedian Brian Bates. Comedian slash podcaster Brian Bates will be joining us. We've got a bunch of stacks o letters coming your way and other delights. Anything interesting going on in the world of sports over there, Willie?
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah, man. We got some Big Ten updates. Baseball next year. You want to watch it? Not so fast, my friend. We got a trade. Might stop baseball next year. We'll see.
Tom Griswold
This is belaboring the obvious, which is what I do most of the time anyway. You weren't there that night, but we went over to a. Kind of like a food court thing.
Willie Griswold
Got it.
Tom Griswold
And they had what may have been the largest television set I've ever seen. And if you watch baseball, if you haven't watched it lately, my God, the technology, it's just amazing. It's gotten so much better to watch.
Pat Godwin
Do they have a scoreboard? Scoreboard?
Tom Griswold
Yeah, they have a scoreboard, Pat. Thank you.
Josh Arnold
And a square bird.
Tom Griswold
He flies by. He flies by with a little, little Little flag with the current score. Just amazing. It was just. It's so much more fun to watch.
Willie Griswold
Joke is so far up my alley, it's crazy. A score. Bird hangs out, tells you the score.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Like the Flintstones. Exactly.
Tom Griswold
They got that little big beaver with a little, little sign strike.
Christy Lee
Marmots were in the news on Friday for an only fans account. We'll tell you about it.
Tom Griswold
How bizarre.
Christy Lee
And it was in Colorado. It's. I bet. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
I had no idea. Yeah, that. Well, that's. That's certainly odd. I have a little surprise coming when we come back. We'll get to that coming up. But right now, Christy Lee, how'd you
Christy Lee
get here this morning in my Tucson Hybrid. And I pulled into the parking lot and because it's electric, at some point, it's very quiet. There were six gorgeous deer right next to the parking lot.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
Did you see them?
Tom Griswold
I almost hit him.
Christy Lee
Oh, my gosh. That guy's one set of antlers was as big as, as wide as my car.
Pat Godwin
Tom saw them. I just saw them take off from behind. He saw them from the front.
Christy Lee
Well, they came back.
Tom Griswold
Slamming on the brakes.
Christy Lee
Yeah, they came back. They were. I'll show you a picture. They were right out there. Yeah. You know what? You could get into a Hyundai right now in the getaway sales event, you get deals on their most popular models, including the Hyundai Santa Fe or Santa Fe hybrid or the Tucson hybrid like I talked about, or just the regular. Tucson is a beautiful vehicle as well. If you're a sedan folk, then Elantra is right in your alley. It's loaded with the latest in technology and the all electric Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 9 is just waiting for you to test drive. So get to your local Hyundai dealer. Get away with the deal. You'll love. It's the Hyundai getaway sales event. Visit HyundaiUSA.com for all the details.
Tom Griswold
Thanks very much, Chris Healy. I mentioned I was watching a little bit of baseball. I think at one of these games, you're gonna actually see the manager report to the mound to pick up the guy's arm that's fallen off for throwing the ball 103 miles an hour. How is that possible?
Josh Arnold
This is crazy.
Tom Griswold
What is happening? How can a human being do that? Also, speaking of speed, cool stuff going on at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as they're checking out. Yeah. What looks like the Batmobiles that are going to be running in a couple years.
Pat Godwin
Nice.
Tom Griswold
The, the brand new race cars they're developing for that. That was a super cool thing. That went on over the weekend with some testing. So we've got that on the way, plus a lot of other delights, including, by the way, coming up in the news. This is really kind of bizarre in a way. One of the first successful. How do I word this? Transplants of the male member. Oh, it has been successfully accomplished. Also, have you ever heard of Airport divorce?
Christy Lee
No, I'd never heard of it.
Tom Griswold
This is something that I didn't realize I think I'm going to be doing.
Christy Lee
Oh, I would be surprised you weren't already doing it.
Tom Griswold
What it means is. What it means is airport divorce means you kind of travel separately because the person you're with might find you incredibly annoying. Maybe you want to get there early. They want to get there. We'll see. We'll see what Airport Divorce is. From the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios, this is the Bob and Tom Show.

Hello.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's at the Music Center.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
Willie G. Is sitting over at the NHTSA sports desk. Hey, man, there's Ace Cosby.
Brian Bates
Hello.
Josh Arnold
I'M Josh Arnold, and there's Tom Griswold.
Tom Griswold
It's great to be back. Great to see you get back in the routine. I missed that.
Josh Arnold
Did you guys have a buffer day or two back home?
Tom Griswold
I did, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Good.
Tom Griswold
It gets complicated.
Josh Arnold
Well, yeah. No, I'm glad you were able to have one. You could.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Relax, get some laundry done.
Tom Griswold
I'm a big fan of coming back from vacation a day early. So you have that, as you say, buffer day, but we didn't come back together for reasons that. I'll explain. Right. Remember I said I had a little bit of a surprise? Jason, do you have that photograph that I just took? I took this photograph a couple minutes ago.
Josh Arnold
Oh, my goodness.
Christy Lee
Got a new puppy.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Here's a great idea. While on vacation, get another dog. Yeah, that little guy. Yeah, that's Bernie.
Josh Arnold
Did that dog come back with you or.
Tom Griswold
No, he came back with Kelly, so she and Hart took a little side trip to get another dog.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay.
Tom Griswold
As you know, I have. I have Mr. Fletcher and Dungy, and that's Bernie.
Christy Lee
What kind of dog is Bernie?
Tom Griswold
Bernie's a bunch of different kinds, but unusually enough, very rare. He has blue eyes, very sweet. He's about the size of a loaf of bread. I'm holding him next to my face.
Christy Lee
He's a puppy or.
Tom Griswold
Oh, he's a puppy. He couldn't. Here's the thing. This is insane. But he couldn't legally fly until yesterday.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay.
Christy Lee
So he wasn't eight weeks old.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, there's a certain. Is they. They take it very seriously. So you have to present papers, etc.
Pat Godwin
Etc.
Tom Griswold
So that's Bernie.
Willie Griswold
Was it tough for PJ to doctor those papers for you?
Pat Godwin
Real good at that.
Josh Arnold
Oh, well, Bernie's adorable.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Little guy. I just met him this morning. They got back after midnight last night.
Christy Lee
I was asleep, but I had to drive back. Huh?
Tom Griswold
No, no, no.
Christy Lee
Oh, she waited till he was.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, they flew back. His. Whatever the day was.
Christy Lee
I got you.
Tom Griswold
They couldn't. He couldn't fly Saturday, so they had to spend an extra day. And they flew back. They flew back. Oh, I bet Hart is little doggy
Josh Arnold
beside herself with happiness.
Tom Griswold
Unbelievable.
Christy Lee
Oh, that's great.
Tom Griswold
But he's a blue eyed, blue eyed pup.
Christy Lee
How big will he get, do you think?
Tom Griswold
Well, that's the joke. We were. Willie hadn't gotten there yet. We were sitting at lunch and. And Hart has been wanting to get a really tiny little dog for quite some time.
Christy Lee
Right.
Tom Griswold
Because we have a golden retriever.
Josh Arnold
I don't.
Tom Griswold
He's like £50. And then we've got this.
Christy Lee
But you have a little dog.
Tom Griswold
He's 25, 30 pounds.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Tom Griswold
Not that little. So we're thinking, well, let's get this little, tiny. One of these little, tiny little dogs, right? So Kelly had this friend who told her, oh, yeah, go to this particular place. So they're looking at, oh, this is so great. This is, you know what the whatever, the mini micro.
Willie Griswold
Tiny dog.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, tiny dog. Tiny dog. So we decided, oh, this will be, this will be great. We need a third dog. You know me, I'm always up for dogs. Up for dogs. So we'd sign up and get the dog. Then that evening, Kelly's over looking over the papers and realizes that she'd inadvertently flipped the page. And this was not one of the mini micros. So we don't know.
Josh Arnold
Oh, all right.
Tom Griswold
We. This, this dog may get significantly larger. So we'll, we'll get. We'll let you know.
Pat Godwin
Bernie could be a Saint Bernard. You never know.
Tom Griswold
Ergo, the name Bernie.
Christy Lee
How much does he weigh at eight weeks?
Willie Griswold
I don't know.
Christy Lee
Is it the, the train of thought at. Is it 20 weeks? If you double their size, that's what they're going to be as an adult or something like that.
Willie Griswold
I, I hear, you know, by the pause. I don't really know.
Josh Arnold
I wouldn't worry about it.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, he's a cool guy.
Josh Arnold
Sweet dog.
Tom Griswold
I took him out this morning.
Josh Arnold
Good.
Tom Griswold
At three in the morning. That's. We first met. Well, a couple of the dogs and I went out with him. We had a good time.
Christy Lee
The other dogs like him.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
We are incredibly happy for you. However, this was sold to us as a surprise for us.
Pat Godwin
Yeah, he told me that in the green room.
Willie Griswold
I kind of had the same thing.
Josh Arnold
So for me, if we're at all not as excited for you as you thought we might be, it's because we
Pat Godwin
don't see a new guitar. For me, for example.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
I thought that was gonna get a seagull.
Josh Arnold
I couldn't sleep because of my surprise for you. I had to come home early a day because of this surprise for you guys.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
So sorry.
Tom Griswold
No, that. But that's why, that's why there's been a. A significant lack of sleep. Ace, I'll. I'll get you a pizza. That'll at least. Surprise and surprise.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. You've got. Boy, I. It's. That's one beautiful dog. Dog is beautiful, but a couple rough weeks ahead.
Pat Godwin
Is he sleeping in?
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah. Well, yeah. God knows I don't know. It's.
Willie Griswold
I have a feeling he's gonna be sleeping in Hart's bed for a very long time.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah, it'll be.
Josh Arnold
Did she name him?
Tom Griswold
Kind of, yeah.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Willie Griswold
She's really into Bernie Sanders right now. She wants to, you know, make sure
Josh Arnold
she feels the burn.
Willie Griswold
The workers.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
She's getting really into unions.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. She. Originally she was calling him Rocky, but because that was the name of the kennel.
Pat Godwin
Whatever.
Tom Griswold
And then she was convinced that Bernie was funnier because she's part Bernie's mountain dog.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. So pretty. He'll be burning. I'm trying to think famous Bernie's.
Willie Griswold
The sunglasses. The dead guys.
Tom Griswold
Weekend at Weekend Bernie's.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Played by the great Terry Kaiser. Please show the proper respect.
Willie Griswold
Excuse me, man. Excuse my ignorance.
Tom Griswold
What a gig that would be, huh? Is he dead throughout the entire movie?
Josh Arnold
No, he. Not at. Not at first.
Tom Griswold
Okay, so he does have some.
Josh Arnold
Yes. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
But then for the rest of the movie, he has to just kind of flop around.
Josh Arnold
It couldn't have been easy.
Christy Lee
No, that couldn't have been. They're dragging him around and. Yikes.
Tom Griswold
And. Yeah. Does he have to not breathe? It's been so long since I've seen that movie.
Pat Godwin
Question.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. I mean, and now in weekend at Bernie's 2, he is sort of zombified, so he gets to kind of walk on his own. It gets very silly. Wait a second.
Tom Griswold
As if it wasn't. I didn't know there was a Weekend at Bernie's dose.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yes.
Willie Griswold
You might be the smartest person I know with the most knowledge of sequels of movies.
Pat Godwin
Oh, absolutely.
Willie Griswold
Like any movie goes to Manhattan. You know all about it.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
You're pretty familiar.
Josh Arnold
Muppets and Jason, both. They all. They went to the Manhattan. I was thinking Olsen twins, but you go.
Tom Griswold
I think it's always great when you get someone who's really intelligent and they get deeply involved in something that's sort of really shallow and dumb.
Pat Godwin
Absolutely.
Josh Arnold
Most.
Tom Griswold
I mean, that's really a good quality.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Everybody who has to do something very serious. Your nuclear scientists, your. Anybody should have that one hobby. That is just nonsense.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. I knew a guy that was a very distinguished college professor and really serious. A lot of publishing stuff. Incredibly into rodeo.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah. See?
Christy Lee
Wow, that's cool.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Which reminds me, I went to a rodeo. Those people are absolutely insane.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Crazy.
Tom Griswold
A guy diving off a horse, grabbing the horns of a bull.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
And pulling it off. I mean.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
It's wild.
Tom Griswold
And then we're watching this. I Mean, everything about this thing is insane. It starts off with little kids on top of sheep, and they let them go and they run out until they fall off.
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah.
Tom Griswold
But I mean, incredible horsemen and horsewomen out there doing stuff. But I did notice, from him, from the corner of my eye, the ambulances that are standing by, diving off a moving horse or roping. And then the buck and bronco thing. How do you not break your neck?
Christy Lee
Well, sadly, some of them do. Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Wow.
Pat Godwin
Sport.
Tom Griswold
Okay, well, tough rupture.
Josh Arnold
That's a whole life, man.
Christy Lee
That's a wild lifestyle. You're right.
Tom Griswold
But, yeah, we can talk about the rodeo, et cetera, et cetera. But let's get to our letters, shall we? That's what we do here at the Bob and Tom program at this hour.
Willie Griswold
Wait, Josh, can I ask you a question? There's part of you you've discussed wanting to run off to the mountains Sometimes. Does any part of you. Could you run off to a rodeo, maybe a carnival? Does any part of you want to do that?
Josh Arnold
No.
Willie Griswold
It's all about isolation. It's not about a life on the road.
Josh Arnold
Right, right. Yeah. That wouldn't be the. Yeah, exactly. Running off to the woods is a. Is an isolationist thing, whereas rodeos. All about community.
Willie Griswold
Yep.
Pat Godwin
I know.
Willie Griswold
I appreciate you entertaining this thought.
Tom Griswold
This particular rodeo was part of the Eagle County Fair.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
And they had the traditional ride you see at state fairs and county fairs. That would be a tough gig, picking up and moving all that stuff.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I think so, man.
Tom Griswold
And then. Then you get the ride operators who, you know, kind of go ahead. A little questionable sometimes.
Willie Griswold
I'd imagine they're trading a lot of cigarettes to, like, trade shifts and stuff. That's probably right. Hey, can you work on Thursday? Here's a few cartons. I'd imagine that's happening there.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. I can get you an awesome tattoo if you work for me Thursday.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, that sounds kind of fun, man.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Now, let's get to our letters here. This comes to Dear Bob and Tom Show. I'm listening to the podcast in Hartsville, South Carolina. I'm a week or so behind. I heard you guys talking about catchphrases for businesses. This was a couple weeks back. Various, often punny catchphrases for businesses. I forget what launched this. Do you remember?
Christy Lee
I don't think I was here. I don't remember this.
Willie Griswold
What are we talking, like pizza? Pizza, Stuff like that?
Josh Arnold
I don't remember what we were talking about there.
Tom Griswold
It was a controversy involving a truck A food truck at a state house. All right.
Christy Lee
Oh, yeah, the meat thing.
Tom Griswold
And what was it in your mouth Meeting your mouth. Oh, yeah, you'll love them. You'll love our. You'll love our meat in your mouth or something. Yeah, so it was.
Christy Lee
Okay.
Tom Griswold
Not that offensive. And of course some idiot got all out it been out of shape. Panties in a bunch, if you will. Probably don't wear panties. Probably wears a girdle. Don't you touch me down there. I can't take it.
Willie Griswold
Just let that be silly.
Josh Arnold
I'd vote for that later. Just to have to hear. Just to hear her every now and again.
Tom Griswold
Oh, my girdle be itching my neighbors.
Willie Griswold
My neighbor's cat's an alien.
Tom Griswold
I know. Chad writes. Once again, he is from Hartsville, South Carolina. He said the one down here is a dry cleaner. Their catchphrase is drop your pants and jack it off. Here.
Christy Lee
Like that's a little more in your face.
Tom Griswold
Maybe I should read it. Maybe you should read it. Maybe she'll read it with more precision. Drop your pants and jacket off here.
Josh Arnold
Right, right.
Christy Lee
That's much better.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Maybe I read it wrong.
Willie Griswold
That's fine. That's not hurting anybody.
Josh Arnold
That's the Blink 182 album. Take off your pants and jacket. Oh, yeah, same. Same spelling. Is that.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah. Okay. Wasn't aware of that record. Am I the only one with a stack of letters or did anybody else get any?
Christy Lee
No, man, I have some letters, but you weren't here last week. Oh, this one. You were around. Dear Bob and Tom. Great is what he says. I recently heard discussions about stick shifts. Dimmer switches on the floorboard of old vehicle, foot shaped gas. You know that gas pedal that you used to have in the 70s?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. There used to be on most cars you could take your left foot foot and go to your left and there was a little button that would put the brights on, right.
Christy Lee
So there on the floor, little petals that look like little feet that you would use.
Willie Griswold
Fun.
Christy Lee
You'd replace them. And then the stick shift. Well, then we got to talking while you were gone about the hula dancer on the dashboard.
Tom Griswold
Right.
Christy Lee
Well, Jeff Oskay has one of those.
Willie Griswold
Nice.
Christy Lee
Yeah. And this gentleman whose name is Jerry, says, I am proud to say I have all of those in my 1974 or 1975. I'm sorry. Dodge wagon. 318, three speed. On the vans, the dimmer is in between the clutch and the brake pedals. That's Jerry from Lexington. Well, congratulations, Jerry.
Tom Griswold
Cool car. Cool Stuff.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Now back to the mailbag. Over on my side of the room. Dear Bob and Thompson. You must have been talking about Lucille Ball.
Christy Lee
Yes, we were. I can't remember. We were talking about upstate New York and where she was from.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, we barely mentioned.
Christy Lee
Yeah, barely.
Tom Griswold
Oh, well, I know that. I've been to that. That museum is in Jamestown.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. That's all we mentioned was. Oh, yeah, I think there's a museum up there.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, this is. She's actually from. I don't know how you pronounce this. Celeron, New York.
Willie Griswold
That's good.
Tom Griswold
The museum is in Jamestown or a place. Beautiful spot called Bemis Point. I know that. I've been up there. Chautauqua county, the far west corner of New York. Thank you for. Hudson. Hudson. Thank you for sending the letter. Hudson in the news today, Hudson Bay. Yes. And Henry Hudson. They haven't found him, in case you were wondering.
Pat Godwin
Remember what happened to Henry Hudson?
Josh Arnold
No.
Willie Griswold
No, I do not.
Christy Lee
Who the hell's Henry Hudson?
Willie Griswold
Sounds like a comic book character.
Christy Lee
The Hudson Bay guy?
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Oh, are you kidding?
Josh Arnold
I'm not. Henry Hudson might be reminded after this. You tell us. But I don't remember offhand.
Tom Griswold
Henry Hudson and his son, they. They were exploring the famous explorer.
Christy Lee
Right.
Tom Griswold
And the crew mutinied and put him and his son and I think a couple of other guys in a raft and shoved him off and they were never seen again.
Willie Griswold
That's a fun story for the kids.
Christy Lee
Yeah, but, you know, they named the river after him.
Tom Griswold
Huh. Well, you got the river, you got your bay. Yeah, we'll come. We'll get a little history out there for you.
Christy Lee
One of the stories we had while you were gone, which was kind of interesting, was stores that you missed that are gone now. We talked about Blockbuster. Blockbuster, yeah.
Willie Griswold
There's a Sharper Image at the service merchandise.
Pat Godwin
Radio Shack.
Christy Lee
Radio Shack. Well, this is from Chad. Chad said I have mentioned Ben Franklin because that's where I used to steal lip gloss from. Did you have a Ben Franklin? A five and dime?
Tom Griswold
I don't know. No, we had Woolworths.
Christy Lee
Okay. Very similar. Ben Franklin was the same. Apparently, there is still a Ben Franklin open in Mitchell, Indiana. I was shocked to hear that's from Chad.
Josh Arnold
Is that the same Chad that we just had two letters ago?
Christy Lee
Oh, I don't know. Is it?
Josh Arnold
That's proving my theory about these.
Tom Griswold
There's more than one person named Chad. Yeah, I know. All right.
Josh Arnold
There's four.
Tom Griswold
I wasn't here for this, so explain with different persons. This is From Chad. I mean, Mike. He said, thanks for sharing the story about the. The three story swingers club.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Jeff Oskay revisited the three story swingers club that he attended. You've heard that before, right?
Tom Griswold
Refresh my memory.
Christy Lee
Back in the day when he was dating, he could come in here and tell it. He and his date went to a club that was a swingers club right here in the city, and it was three stories. It had a couple DJs and bars on every level and all kinds of things going on. Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Whoa.
Willie Griswold
Jeff has lived a million lives.
Christy Lee
He has.
Willie Griswold
You ever get in the car with Jeff? You listen stories.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
He said, it's lucky Tom wasn't there. He would have sprinted to the nearest sink to wash up and coat himself in sanitizer.
Josh Arnold
Oh, for sure. Yeah. It sounded quite something. Although it sounded like it was done correctly.
Willie Griswold
Oh, really?
Christy Lee
Yeah, it sounded very professional, didn't it?
Josh Arnold
Did they know what they were doing?
Christy Lee
Yeah, they had security and.
Tom Griswold
Really?
Brian Bates
Mm.
Tom Griswold
Okay.
Christy Lee
I know you're weirded out just thinking.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I can barely speak.
Josh Arnold
Oscar 2 was weirded out. Out. Yeah, he.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, he was weird.
Christy Lee
They sat there and they did not participate. They were just.
Tom Griswold
That'd be. Then. Then you feel like you're being a bad guest.
Pat Godwin
Are you allowed to not participate?
Christy Lee
Yeah, barely. You were.
Josh Arnold
They brought an ambrosia salad. It was
Tom Griswold
like you're. You're not getting in the conga line at the wedding. Okay. Well, coming up, we have a little bit of sporting news. Comedian Brian Bates will be joining us. We have a little bit of history for you, including Henry Hudson in the news. I can't believe you guys.
Josh Arnold
I don't remember it.
Christy Lee
Yeah, I don't remember it either.
Tom Griswold
Kind of a famous betrayal. They. I was. I recall.
Christy Lee
What did he do to piss his crew off?
Tom Griswold
He made him stay there all winter long in the middle of nowhere. And then he wanted to keep going north, and they went f. This here's. Here's your raft, buddy. Never seen again. So. Yeah, well, one of these days there'll be a headline and they find it Dating Amelia Earhart. Right now, everybody's talking about weight loss and the weight loss injections, et cetera, et cetera. Willie Griswold
Hot dog.
Tom Griswold
Not a hot dog, but that's certainly a fair guess, but a golden retriever. These are the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. Thanks for listening to the Bob and Tom show this morning. Catch any part of the show you missed later today on our YouTube channel.

Tom Griswold
Hello.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's next to her with his guitar and keybard.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
There's Willie G at the NHTSA sports desk.
Willie Griswold
Hey, man.
Josh Arnold
Ace Cosby's at the controls. I'm Josh Arnold. And there's Tom, a brand new puppy in his life.
Tom Griswold
Little Bernie. Yeah, yeah. Well, exciting times, but yeah, that kept me up a little bit last night, I bet.
Josh Arnold
But we'd love to meet Bernie.
Tom Griswold
Oh, we'll have to get him in. Yeah, he's a little, little cute little guy.
Josh Arnold
Oh, blue eyes.
Tom Griswold
Blue Eyed Bernie. Little tiny little Bernie. Now, where was I? Oh, we have a couple things to check in with. I. Were you guys talking about anteaters or something?
Christy Lee
Yes, we were talking about anteaters and armadillos because armadillos apparently are causing leprosy in Florida to increase.
Willie Griswold
Huh?
Christy Lee
Yeah. And then because we were talking about armadillos, we're talking about weird animals. And we thought anteaters were kind of a strange looking.
Willie Griswold
They are funny, aren't they?
Tom Griswold
Ah, those armadillos creep me out.
Christy Lee
Yeah, they've moved up here. You know, you could maybe see one in your back.
Tom Griswold
They're going farther north.
Christy Lee
Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
I mean, the gators are coming north, too.
Josh Arnold
That's right.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
They're migrating, you guys.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Every August I wait for the migration of the gators.
Pat Godwin
How far up do they go, actually?
Tom Griswold
Well, I was just.
Josh Arnold
That is a good question.
Willie Griswold
If you see a gator crossing the road, you can't turn it around, have it go the direction it's going, otherwise it'll get lost.
Josh Arnold
Exactly.
Tom Griswold
I, I just saw one in South Carolina, obviously.
Pat Godwin
Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Do they, are there any in North Carolina?
Christy Lee
Let's see.
Tom Griswold
I wouldn't want to be too far south in North Carolina to be the first one to find out.
Willie Griswold
Well,
Josh Arnold
yeah. I wonder if there are areas, though in like, Tennessee where you might find a random gator.
Pat Godwin
I would say no, they live up
Christy Lee
to 50 years in the wild. Travel across the southeastern United States reaching as far north as coastal North Carolina.
Pat Godwin
Oh, that makes sense.
Willie Griswold
Look at that.
Tom Griswold
Anybody else watch Shark Week?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah, I watched a handful of programs.
Tom Griswold
They have got. I mean I was talking about watching baseball and how the camera work now is unbelievable.
Josh Arnold
Pretty great, isn't it?
Tom Griswold
In Shark Week, did you see the thing where they got. They actually attached a camera to one of the sharks?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, they have a few. There's one where they had a 360 camera. They attach it to the dorsal fin and they could see.
Tom Griswold
It's amazing. But I have a real quick question for you.
Pat Godwin
I know it's gonna be the boat.
Tom Griswold
They've got the main boat and they've got those boats with the blow up pontoons.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. The center council blow up ones.
Tom Griswold
What if the shark bites the pontoon? Don't they sink?
Josh Arnold
I, I was kind of wondering that too. If there was. Boy, I don't know, I couldn't tell.
Tom Griswold
I mean, I know the guy can float just leaning back on his balls.
Pat Godwin
I thought your question was going to be how do they get the camera on the shark?
Tom Griswold
Oh, I saw that. They shoot it with a gun. They shoot a couple. It's like a. What do you call it, you know, spear gun thing.
Pat Godwin
They have that.
Josh Arnold
They have one we have to stick it on and then they have one where the guy had to clip it onto the dorsal fin. And so he had like this, he had essentially a long grabber. You know, the grabber stairs.
Willie Griswold
Oh, that's fine.
Tom Griswold
One of the episodes I watched the, the guy was down there doing something and they're radioing him, by the way, there's great gigantic great white shark that just swam over here. Then the guy, he. They kind of wait and they, then he swims up. But then, then he gets back in the boat. He still got his feet dangling in the water. I would be on the boat jumping up in the air to keep my.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I'm not too. I mean, you are way more likely to get struck by lightning than bit by a shark. In fact, more people are killed by coconuts than sharks. And so, I mean, you're okay. Coconuts. Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Plus I'd rather saw that on Coconut week.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a less popular. That's on the Food Channel. The Food Channel.
Pat Godwin
Yes.
Josh Arnold
It is easier to attach a camera.
Tom Griswold
Did you see that? Did you see the one where. There, there's some, A lot of still ships. It's some, I don't know, freighter or something. They're in the middle of nowhere. They decide to cool off and go swimming. There's about 20 of them in the water, swimming around in the middle of the ocean. And then all of a sudden the shark comes up and. Oh, man, the one lady had her leg bitten off.
Josh Arnold
I'd rather have them say, hey, there's a great white next to you than a bull shark. That's one thing I learned this Shark Week. Those things just. Yeah, hey, you're in my territory. Get out.
Christy Lee
That's why they're bullies.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
They act like bulls. Crazy.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. But, yeah, that was fun. I always. I do enjoy. I do enjoy my shark week.
Josh Arnold
The bull shark rodeo is really a treat if you ever get a chance.
Tom Griswold
Well, let's move forward here and grab a couple of sports headlines. Willie, anything of interest over there?
Brian Bates
Here we go.
Willie Griswold
Terry Scuba was the only.
Christy Lee
Who?
Tom Griswold
Terry Scuba was the one player the
Willie Griswold
Los Angeles Dodgers believed worthy of aggressively pursuing ahead of Monday's trade deadline. And the trade to land the two time American League Cy Young winner further boosts their push for the third straight World Series title.
Josh Arnold
You took a breath as though. Why am I reading this?
Willie Griswold
It made me mad.
Pat Godwin
It made me.
Willie Griswold
The Dodgers are so good. Well, it is kind of boring. We are the most boring part of sports season where it's just a little bit of baseball, trade deadline and there's people. NFL camps are open and the Big ten is talking about a lot of stuff. It is a boring day in sports. But this does just piss me off. The Dodgers are way too good now. They have every good pitcher. Baseball's not going to happen next season probably. You know, on ESPN they don't do this. They don't. They don't just get mad and get sad and just start talking. But yeah, it's kind of a bummer. You know, he was cool. He's a great player. He's fun to watch. And he's going to play against the Cubs on Tuesday. So that's exciting.
Christy Lee
Oh, okay.
Josh Arnold
So he has been traded.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, he's traded, man. He's traded. So sorry. I got super mad. But yeah, he's with Yamamoto and Blake Snell now. The Dodgers are awesome. There's nothing you can do. They're like the Avengers. They got everybody.
Tom Griswold
What else is happening?
Willie Griswold
Tony Romo has been placed on leave from his role as the lead analyst on CBS's NFL coverage following his arrest last week on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence. CBS Sports announced Friday that former Dallas Cowboy quarterback was on leave until further notice.
Josh Arnold
Oh, this is nothing.
Willie Griswold
It's JJ Waddle joined Jim Nansen, Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports, lead team, lead NFL team during Romo's absence. Roman was arrested on July 23rd after he was stopped while driving south on I43 in Wisconsin.
Josh Arnold
They had to do. I mean, they'll be back.
Tom Griswold
Wait, will J.J. watt call Jim by his name all the time?
Josh Arnold
Jim.
Tom Griswold
Jim. See that tackle, Jim?
Willie Griswold
I love Tony on there, man. He's cool. He can call the plays before it happens.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, the rumor is that they may try to dump him on some kind of moral turpitude clause because they think they're paying him too much.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I see. This was a good way out.
Tom Griswold
Well, they. Those contracts typically have. I'm not sure what they call it, but they're typically various morals clauses. Yeah, I'm not sure how clearly it's outlined.
Josh Arnold
We have those here. Yeah, I was telling the hooker I was with the other night.
Pat Godwin
Yeah. We gotta be on the down low.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Coming up, we have a special event. We're going to do the weekend in History.
Josh Arnold
Oh, how about the hats?
Brian Bates
Oh, boy.
Tom Griswold
That's right.
Josh Arnold
Why not?
Tom Griswold
Because we get gypped.
Willie Griswold
Come on, man.
Tom Griswold
We're not on the weekends.
Willie Griswold
Live sports. Was that bad?
Josh Arnold
We have to do we don't get jipped.
Pat Godwin
Really? Are you sure we don't have any more stories.
Brian Bates
What's.
Josh Arnold
What's the new gyp? Let's say we get a roving band of weirdos.
Willie Griswold
You have to be sad, sensitive. You don't offend that robing band.
Tom Griswold
I forgot you're not supposed to say gypton.
Pat Godwin
You can't.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, you can't.
Tom Griswold
I'm sorry, I did not. I completely forgot about that.
Willie Griswold
We do have another sports story. Not about Jim Nance, but about Jim Penis. We can come back with that.
Tom Griswold
Good. Okay, good.
Pat Godwin
That's.
Tom Griswold
Boy, that'd be a tough life being named Jim Penis. Really hard. His brother. Brothers Peter and dick.
Willie Griswold
Please, it's Dr. Penis.
Tom Griswold

I'll call your husband.
Josh Arnold
Hey, it's the Bob and Tom show. Live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. Christy Lee is at the news desk, resplendent in a denim jacket.
Christy Lee
Why, thank you, sir.
Tom Griswold
You got that, that rodeo. What's that kerchief?
Christy Lee
Huh? Some people say it's hiding all the wrinkles on my neck. That is not true.
Josh Arnold
I don't think that's true.
Tom Griswold
I think it's not big enough.
Pat Godwin
That's the Katharine Hepburn.
Brian Bates
Wow.
Josh Arnold
It's hiding all the hickeys.
Pat Godwin
Oh, yes.
Christy Lee
It was a good weekend. Yes.
Tom Griswold
Yes.
Josh Arnold
There's Pat Godwin.
Tom Griswold
Hello.
Josh Arnold
Willie Griswold is at the NITS sports desk.
Willie Griswold
Hey, man.
Josh Arnold
Ace Cosby's at the control board. Hello, I'm Josh Arnold. There's Tom Equal opportunity here.
Tom Griswold
You got to offend everybody. Everybody.
Josh Arnold
Oh, should I?
Tom Griswold
No, no. I think Josh missed it. Now, welcome back to the program. Thank you. Oh, yeah.
Josh Arnold
The kerchief didn't cover all.
Christy Lee
Yeah, no, yeah, we heard.
Willie Griswold
I told you.
Tom Griswold
I went to. I went to a legitimate rodeo. Eagle County, Colorado Rodeo. My God, it was amazing.
Christy Lee
Well, you got to wear your cowboy hat, didn't you?
Tom Griswold
I did not take mine.
Brian Bates
What?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it's tough to travel with.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, it's hard to travel with a cowboy hat.
Christy Lee
Why didn't you wear on the plane?
Josh Arnold
Even wearing it on the plane, wearing
Tom Griswold
the plane, because you're. It hits the ring, then you take
Christy Lee
it off and set it in your lap or put it in the overhead bin.
Tom Griswold
No, no, no.
Pat Godwin
It's got its own box.
Tom Griswold
The overhead bin. Now. And every airplane is just a crush box. If you put anything up there that isn't coated in anvil metal, it's amazing.
Josh Arnold
Christy, what you're talking about is what a true cowboy would be.
Christy Lee
Right. Thank you.
Josh Arnold
Tom is merely a man with a cowboy.
Tom Griswold
Absolutely correct. Especially after watching these rodeo dudes.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah. That's where you go. Okay. I've been living a sham.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah. Let me get this straight. You're gonna get on top of that creature that if it steps the wrong way, will crush your skull.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
I still can't get over. I can't get over the guys diving off the horses and grabbing the horns of a bull and wrestling it to the ground.
Josh Arnold
The last time I was. I'm with you. The last time I was at a rodeo, I was being laughed at because of how nervous I was for everybody involved.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
And again.
Josh Arnold
But I love it.
Tom Griswold
If you look by the barn, you see the ambulances sitting there.
Josh Arnold
Sure.
Pat Godwin
You know, we just fall on the carpet. We're gonna break a leg. These guys are falling off bulls.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Christy Lee
They're also 40 years younger.
Tom Griswold
It wouldn't matter. I could have been 23. You get stepped on by a horse or a bull or you get gored.
Christy Lee
Oh, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, dude, it was cool. Yeah, it is cool.
Tom Griswold
And then they've got those flag holders and the saddle.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
So they had several ladies that was going by with these.
Christy Lee
Cool.
Tom Griswold
It was really fun.
Pat Godwin
Clowns. You get the clowns.
Tom Griswold
There was a clown.
Willie Griswold
Not till you got there.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. They needed a better PA system, of course.
Willie Griswold
God, you can't go anywhere. You criticize every place you go.
Tom Griswold
No, because the clown would go.
Josh Arnold
What?
Christy Lee
Why was the clown on the pa? He's supposed to be running around.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, but sometimes they talk.
Tom Griswold
He's mic'd.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. They're almost like. They're almost like hype men for the show.
Christy Lee
I did not know that.
Willie Griswold
The flavor. Flavor of the rodeo. People don't acknowledge that enough.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Now we have a couple things going on here. We were delving into the world of sports. Coming up, by the way, comedian Brian Bates. Willie, what you got over there?
Willie Griswold
Health experts say that if you experience shrinkage while working out, you might be suffering from something known as gym penis. Chris Bustamante, a nurse practitioner at the New York Post. Many men experience some degree of temporary retraction while working out. This shrinkage is only temporary, though, as it is a result of redirected blood flow to the muscles, heart, lungs, and skin during exercise.
Christy Lee
Sure.
Willie Griswold
While there's no physical damage from gym penis, there may be a psychological side effect as some men may feel embarrassed, avoid locker rooms and compare themselves to others or worry something is wrong with them.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, of course.
Willie Griswold
And that anxiety can become a bigger issue than the temporary retraction itself.
Christy Lee
When you figure it out, though, after a couple of workouts.
Josh Arnold
Oh, well, it goes back. This article does not feel like those who, I mean, go to the gym often. Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
And then, P.S. doctor, what about the occasional erections that I'm experiencing at the gym while looking at my fellow man?
Pat Godwin
Right. That is embarrassing.
Tom Griswold
They call it turtling, I guess.
Pat Godwin
Yeah. It retracts. Like in the hospital when it does that.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I remember.
Pat Godwin
Because of fear or whatever reason. I don't know.
Willie Griswold
This is good to know, though, because I feel like people have anxiety going to the gym. You're worried that people are looking at you and just be confident knowing that guy's just worried that he's shrinking while he's squatting.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
No one's thinking about you looking bad at the gym.
Josh Arnold
I know, but you think everyone's looking at you and they're not at all. Nobody cares.
Willie Griswold
No. Everyone else is just worried people are looking at them. Everyone's so in their heads.
Tom Griswold
But when I major surgery, I think I had disappearing penis.
Pat Godwin
Same here. Yeah, a lot of turtling.
Tom Griswold
I don't know what was going on there. Maybe. Maybe it thought that there was. They were going to be doing some surgery down there, but it retreated.
Willie Griswold
It was weird. You kept telling the nurses, it's never like this. By the way, ladies, usually this thing's good to go. And I go, relax.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Come on, Take it easy. Wow. Is there a porno star named Jim Penis?
Willie Griswold
There should be.
Josh Arnold
J, I, M, Penis. I mean, they usually don't get that.
Tom Griswold
Oh. I mean, it's not like. It's not like pornography is subtle or
Josh Arnold
nuanced, but they try to have fun with it. They don't just, hi, I'm penis in you. They try to.
Willie Griswold
It sounds like a kid, like Tom Cruise in Risky Business, like, trying to be like a kid posing as a porn star. What's your name? Jim Penis. You know, just the first thing he could think of.
Josh Arnold
I mean, there was a porn. A male porn star whose name always made me laugh. It was Eric Everhard again. I just wanted to go again.
Tom Griswold
Not a lot of subtlety.
Christy Lee
Well, no, but.
Brian Bates
But it's.
Josh Arnold
It's that poor guy. He's never not soft or he's never soft.
Pat Godwin
He's got to call a doctor.
Willie Griswold
After four hours, it's a blessing at first, then it's a curse.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Christy Lee
Women don't want that. Guys. No. Four hours.
Tom Griswold
No, they're not in the drive thru. There's no. There's no female equivalent to this. There's no like gym vagina, which by the way, would also be terrible porno.
Josh Arnold
That's actually a funnier. I'm gym vagina.
Tom Griswold
Really? That's an odd name for.
Josh Arnold
What kind of porn do you do? Get straight porn.
Tom Griswold
All right, that's good. Good to know. Got a special request here.
Willie Griswold
No way.
Tom Griswold
Dear Bob and Tom Show. This comes to us from Mike. Mike, Kind enough to take the time and trouble to write us. And by the way, it's become easier to write us letters. If you go to bobandtom.com you can find out what we got going on. A lot of different spheres and there's just a button you can click to send us your email. In this case, it's a special request for the Animal Joke hotline. This goes back a ways. I haven't heard this in quite some time, so I thought we would. We would give it a shot here, see if this still holds up. Your guess is as good as mine, ladies and gentlemen. Here it is.
Brian Bates
What you call it?
Tom Griswold
Are you calling somebody? Yeah, I just call them the special hotlines I like to call. You're gonna like this one, I'm sure.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Josh Arnold
Hello and thanks for calling.
Tom Griswold
The animal walked into the bar. Joe Cotline.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I love this one.
Tom Griswold
Brought to you by Paparazzi's Pizza. Wow. If you'd like to hear today's joke, please press 1. What else is the other options? Wait a minute, are there other options? No. No. A baby seal walks into a club.
Brian Bates
Thanks. If you'd like to hear.
Christy Lee
That's it.
Josh Arnold
I think there's more.
Pat Godwin
There might be more.
Tom Griswold
Press one. I'd like to hear eight people walk into a bar.
Pat Godwin
Turn joke.
Christy Lee
Please press two.
Tom Griswold
Oh.
Brian Bates
Press two.
Tom Griswold
Thank you for pressing two. A Mexican, a Polish guy, a rabbi and a priest walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and goes, what is this? Some kind of jo.
Brian Bates
Is that it?
Christy Lee
That's it.
Tom Griswold
Press one again, see if he'll do the one. A baby seal walks in LA clock. Very good.
Willie Griswold
Thank you. Thank you for that Dog killer.
Tom Griswold
That kind request, Mike. So I'm. I'm sorry. So there's a phenomenon called. What was it again? Gym penis.
Willie Griswold
The blood's going to the other places. The muscles it's going away from your.
Josh Arnold
There.
Tom Griswold
So it's not a safety thing that your body.
Christy Lee
What is it? So it doesn't get hit by the.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. So you don't drop a dumbbell on your dog. No, no.
Willie Griswold
It's not some evolutionary retraction.
Tom Griswold
No, no. It's. I. I guess I'm not really. I go to the gym four days a week at least. I don't know if you've ever experienced gym penis.
Christy Lee
Well, you don't work out with a bunch of people and go to a locker room and shower, do you?
Tom Griswold
And, Pat, you were telling me you've experienced a swimmer's dick stick.
Pat Godwin
Swimmer stick. What did I say?
Josh Arnold
You're gonna get a.
Tom Griswold
You'll get a phone call.
Pat Godwin
Why did I repeat that?
Tom Griswold
You know, you're. You're doing.
Pat Godwin
You're doing the. No, I have the.
Tom Griswold
You're doing the backstroke, and all of a sudden you got a little sloop going there.
Pat Godwin
I got the hospital thing going on. It's embarrassing. Wow.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Josh Arnold
You know, when I didn't have it. When is when I got my bladder scope.
Christy Lee
You didn't.
Josh Arnold
Then I thought for sure I would have had an innie.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
But I somehow was able to fool my penis. No, no, man. Nothing's gonna go wrong here. Nothing's happening. Even though they were feeding a tube down it.
Christy Lee
That's incredible.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Does it depend on the gender of the doctor or nurse treating you? Will it retract more or less? Will you be more nervous if it was a lady?
Josh Arnold
If it was a fella, I might be more nervous. If it's a lady. If it's a fellow, way harder.
Tom Griswold
You mean difficult.
Josh Arnold
Yes. What did you think I meant?
Tom Griswold
Well, I'm glad that we approached this with a level of maturity that hasn't changed since I was on vacation. Well, thank you very much. Let's see now. Coming up, comedian Brian Bates will be joining us, although perhaps not after hearing that last break. He may just turn around and go home. We'll find out what's going on with him. Also, a special treat for everybody today, the weekend in history. All right. Well, who wouldn't want to hear that? Plus, we have a hilarious cop story involving some police officer in disguise.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Tom Griswold
There is a photo. Have you seen the picture of this, Chris?
Christy Lee
I have not. I'm looking forward to it.
Tom Griswold
It's much funnier than you can imagine.
Willie Griswold
Mustache.
Christy Lee
It's better.
Tom Griswold
It's better.
Christy Lee
Better.
Tom Griswold
Much more elaborate. Right, now let's talk about money. Money, money, money, money. You know what? It's like out there. Put gas in your car lately. Buy anything, it's more expensive. This is where maybe you can take advantage of the fact that you've owned your house for a while. American Financing, they are specialists in, among other things, any kind of a home financing. But us particularly right now, they're doing a lot of what they call refis, because a lot of folks are counting on those credit cards and they're building up some credit card debts, getting pretty serious. And even with interest rates the way they are right now, it is possible to do a refi and make it actually work for you. Depends how long you've owned your house. Of course, the average house that's five years old, I looked this up, is worth about 40% more than it was five years ago. This obviously depends on your particular house, your particular situation, location, et cetera, et cetera. Your home, if you've owned it for 10 years or more, it's probably doubled in value. So you can take advantage of that without actually selling your house by checking in with American Financing. This is what they do. Right now, they're saving customers an average of 800 bucks a month on a certain program they use to grab some of that equity out of the home without selling it. So you owe it to your family to see what's possible. By the way, American Financing. No upfront fees, no pressure, and it costs you nothing to find out what you'll save. And you can find out in just a few minutes. Actually, they're saying about 10 minutes. They got a great website. That's. What's the term I'm looking for? User friendly. So just visit American financing.net and you'll see what I'm talking about. And by the way, do me a favor. Go to american financing.net Bob and Tom, so they know that we sent you. If you want to give them a ring. It's a simple 866-889-2611. That's 866-889-2611American financing.com net nmls182334 nmlsconsumeraccess.org average savings based on borrowers who save over $200.

Hello, Josh.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's at the Music Center.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
There's Willie Griswold at the NHTSA sports desk.
Pat Godwin
Hey, hey.
Josh Arnold
Ace Cosby's there. Hello. In his very cool camo, Bob and Tom show hat, Josh Arnold. There's Tom.
Tom Griswold
Wait a minute. I can't even see Ace. Oh, he was camouflaged. Coming up, we have camouflage in the news.
Josh Arnold
You ever wear it?
Christy Lee
Camo?
Tom Griswold
Camo?
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Do you have any camo? Even digital camo? Any.
Tom Griswold
I'm not a hunter, so, no.
Josh Arnold
I. Oh, well, yeah.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Griswolds are more gatherers than hunters.
Tom Griswold
I mean, I get it. It's cool.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. I've got some camo shorts I'll throw on every now and again.
Tom Griswold
What are you trying to hide?
Josh Arnold
My nether regions.
Christy Lee
Massive hogs.
Tom Griswold
The aforementioned hog, if you will.
Willie Griswold
We don't talk about that enough. That Josh just has a massive guy on him. Just a piece.
Josh Arnold
You haven't seen it, have you?
Willie Griswold
No, I haven't.
Christy Lee
Well, you've said that. You're a grower, not a shower.
Josh Arnold
That's right. Yeah. So Jim Penis. We had a story about Jim Penis.
Christy Lee
Where?
Tom Griswold
It's gym.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Gymnasium. Penis. Not some poor guy named Jim Penis who's got a brother named Peter and Dick.
Willie Griswold
Is there any.
Josh Arnold
Someone must have the last name. Penis.
Pat Godwin
Yeah, of course.
Josh Arnold
Or Penisman.
Pat Godwin
Definitely Penis.
Tom Griswold
In the Philippines or something. My name is Jim Penisman.
Willie Griswold
There's plenty of Wieners out there. It's got to be tough for those.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, there are a lot of wieners.
Pat Godwin
Now, when you were waxed down there, you were a little embarrassed about your. You said to the nurses. I mean, the people that were waxing.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, the estheticians. You're exactly right, dude. I mean, it shrunk big time, and I. All I could do was mention it. And she said, no, no, no. This is how it's supposed to be. We would be concerned if it were the opposite.
Tom Griswold
Have you been waxed lately?
Josh Arnold
No.
Tom Griswold
You've retired from that kind of.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Yeah, it's. I recommend it for those who really want a clean. Clean area down there.
Pat Godwin
Or playground. A clean playground, yeah.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Pat Godwin
I don't know.
Tom Griswold
Isn't shaving enough? You have to.
Christy Lee
It's doubling.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it's. You know, it was great. The results were great.
Tom Griswold
Don't you want that Fred C. Dobbs look down there, Boy.
Josh Arnold
Fred C. Dobbs.
Christy Lee
Who's that?
Willie Griswold
I'm not hip to that reference, man.
Pat Godwin
Going back now.
Josh Arnold
I'll Google it.
Willie Griswold
What do we think, 50s or 60s?
Pat Godwin
I'm gonna go 56.
Tom Griswold
Did you find it yet?
Josh Arnold
Oh, that's the Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Bogart.
Josh Arnold
Right. I mean, you could have gone Indiana Jones.
Brian Bates
I want to.
Tom Griswold
I want to do with a certain amount of stuff.
Josh Arnold
Style.
Tom Griswold
This is kind of off topic, but Christie has the headline. Actor from the Sopranos has died. Vincent Pastori.
Willie Griswold
Oh, Big.
Christy Lee
Yeah, Big died. He was 80 years old.
Tom Griswold
Noted for playing a character.
Christy Lee
Right.
Tom Griswold
Called what? Christy Big.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
God, I enjoyed that last night on the evening news.
Christy Lee
What?
Tom Griswold
Those watching the straight newscaster. National networks known for playing Big Pussy. That's really, really awkward for him.
Christy Lee
He played other gangsters in movies dating back to the 1980s, including roles in Goodfellas and the Awakenings. And Awakenings. Not the. There's no the there. Sorry about that.
Josh Arnold
That's a sweet movie, isn't it?
Christy Lee
I haven't seen it.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Oh, that's a great movie.
Josh Arnold
Robin Williams, Robert De Niro.
Tom Griswold
Terrific.
Christy Lee
I'll have to check it out. We need to make that list of movies that you guys recommend that. Because we were trying to find something over the weekend and I'm like, like, what was the. I had to ask Jeff Oskay. Juana man.
Josh Arnold
Or something, I don't know, that we recommended.
Pat Godwin
That's not.
Willie Griswold
It's a great film. It was snubbed from the Oscars for some reason.
Christy Lee
I couldn't remember it, though, and I was like, maybe we should watch that. We couldn't find it, so. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
I'm so sad you guys didn't watch it.
Tom Griswold
It's horrible.
Willie Griswold
We never gather as a family and watch Juana man anymore.
Tom Griswold
What is.
Christy Lee
We watched Wayne's World instead.
Willie Griswold
That's a fun.
Josh Arnold
That's a classic.
Christy Lee
Yeah, that's very fun.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, but Sopranos, what. What is that now? 26, 27 years old.
Willie Griswold
It's easily great show holds up and that guy was great in it.
Pat Godwin
The scene where he's. He's killed. Not to ruin it, but where he's killed. It's one of the. Some of the finest acting. That's just a wonderful. They're on the boat. Oh my God.
Willie Griswold
Having shots.
Pat Godwin
The last shot. Wow.
Christy Lee
Yeah. But once again, rest in peace.
Tom Griswold
And he is. The main character was named Big Pussy.
Christy Lee
Yeah, his name is actually Salvador Volpensiero.
Tom Griswold
Vincent Pastor was a stage name.
Josh Arnold
No, that's the. The big.
Christy Lee
Oh, that was his name on the show of the Sopranos, but nobody ever called him that.
Tom Griswold
I see. Okay, well, thank you. Thank you very much.
Christy Lee
I bet you didn't know that, did you?
Tom Griswold
I did not. I was not aware of that. Now we have Willie G at the sports desk.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, we got one more record over here. A 90 year old man has become the oldest man in the world to fly in zero gravity, folks.
Josh Arnold
Really?
Willie Griswold
Guinness World Records attempts reports that Mr. Robert Gordon McAfee achieved the title when he took a trip with the Zero g Lunar Spaceflight Company at the age of 97 years and 301 days old.
Josh Arnold
Well, he had the money. He invented that computer virus.
Willie Griswold
He did. Stopped a lot of security out there when a doctor refused to give Mr. McAfee a note clearing him to fly. The non engineering wasn't fazed and wrote the approval note for himself because he is a retired psychiatrist. Yeah, I love it when a man is both a retired psychiatrist and an insane person. That's awesome. That is so cool, man.
Tom Griswold
Get up there. The video where he's floating around trying to catch his dentures.
Josh Arnold
Oh, boy.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, the tough part's keeping your testicles out of the vents.
Pat Godwin
They.
Josh Arnold
Well, they have something called low gravity testicles. That's where they shrink up. Stick close to your body.
Willie Griswold
It's a blood flow issue, actually.
Tom Griswold
Well, I know a lot of elderly women are interested in doing this because it's nice to see their. Their boobs floating above their waist again.
Christy Lee
Man, the hits just keep on coming.
Tom Griswold
See, they're old, you see.
Josh Arnold
Could you do zero gravity?
Tom Griswold
No, no, absolutely not. You ever see that? What do they call it the Vomit Comet, where the plane goes plummet. I could never do that. They film a lot of movies using that, so they can. Although they're probably gonna do less and less of that now that they can fake it.
Josh Arnold
Well, Tom Cruise still wants to shoot that one movie in space, essentially.
Willie Griswold
That'd be cool.
Tom Griswold
Wow.
Willie Griswold
When you're up there, just like your back pain go away because you're not tied down anymore.
Josh Arnold
I don't know.
Willie Griswold
That'd be nice, man.
Pat Godwin
Might relieve a lot of that pressure. You're absolutely right.
Willie Griswold
Give that a try.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, my work was kind of inconvenient. Yeah, well, back sore. Gotta go up in space for a couple days. I'll be. I'll be right back. By the way, Willie G. Sitting in. You're going to be on stage. Is it Wednesday night?
Willie Griswold
Wednesday night, Nashville, Tennessee, opening for Frank Caliendo down at Zan. Yeah, man. Gonna be fun.
Tom Griswold
Zany's. Nashville. Nashville, Tennessee. That'll be.
Willie Griswold
I'm gonna try to eat brisket in the morning. I'm gonna try to eat pulled pork in the afternoon. And then I'm gonna try to eat hot chicken after the show.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, go for it.
Willie Griswold
The Heartburn Trio, man. Gonna be fun.
Tom Griswold
Delightful. That sounds very good.
Willie Griswold
A lot of meat.
Tom Griswold
Now, Christy Lee is.
Christy Lee
I do have a letter for you, Tom.
Tom Griswold
Go ahead.
Christy Lee
This is from Mick in Detroit.
Tom Griswold
Right.
Christy Lee
Welcome back, Tom. We missed you last week. And congratulations on the new dog. Time to start construction on that new dog house. Right?
Willie Griswold
Oh, gosh.
Christy Lee
Oh, by the way, did the girls ever paint the first one?
Tom Griswold
The first doghouse is actually been moved into the garage, so it didn't get too wet.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Tom Griswold
But it does need. They don't want to paint it.
Josh Arnold
I like. I like her brutalist style.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah. And the. The new guy, our new dog, Bernie, is about.
Pat Godwin
God.
Tom Griswold
He couldn't be more than about five. He's a little, tiny little guy right now. He's just eight weeks old.
Christy Lee
He might really love it.
Josh Arnold
Is he a nipper? Is he nipping?
Tom Griswold
Not yet. I've only seen him. I got up. He. They got back with him last night after midnight, so I got up this morning and took him for a spin.
Christy Lee
He needs to settle in. Once he settles in, you'll see more of his personality.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah. He's a cute little guy. We get. We have. Do we post that picture of little Bernie? Can we get that posted?
Christy Lee
Sure.
Tom Griswold
He's a little guy. I don't know how big he's going to get, but it's a blue Eyed dog. You don't see a lot.
Josh Arnold
And he'll stay blue eyed apparently. Okay, cool.
Christy Lee
Now usually see those on huskies, the blue eyes.
Tom Griswold
So I don't know the. Whatever that is, the genetic or DNA issue, how that happened.
Willie Griswold
I hope he gets huge. I hope he gets maybe hilarious.
Tom Griswold
We really don't know how big he's.
Pat Godwin
Great Dane. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
If this could be.
Christy Lee
My daughter has one of those dogs. It's a 105 pounds maybe.
Tom Griswold
That's great.
Christy Lee
Nice.
Josh Arnold
If he's anything like Clifford, he'll grow. As much as your daughter loves him.
Tom Griswold
Oh yeah.
Josh Arnold
That's how Clifford got so big.
Christy Lee
Red dog. I always wondered how Clifford got so big.
Josh Arnold
That and radiation. Poison.
Willie Griswold
Loving uranium.
Christy Lee
Speaking of dogs, we do have dogs in the news. A golden retriever in Chicago is going viral.
Willie Griswold
What's he up to?
Christy Lee
He's breaking into his neighbor's home. Home for cuddles. The one and a half year old golden retriever named Biggs lives in the upper portion of the Lincoln park home and regularly lets himself into his downstairs neighbor Honor Visagio's home whenever he wants to hang out and stay cool in the hot summer months. Mrs. Bazaggio told USA Today the door between our units is very old and doesn't shut completely. One day Biggs wanted to come down right when we moved in and the next thing I know he pushed the door open and barged in.
Josh Arnold
I love that.
Christy Lee
Now Briggs comes to say. Is it Briggs or Biggs? I have two different ones to say hi multiple times a day.
Josh Arnold
Well, that's sweet.
Christy Lee
She has left the door open so he has free range now to come in as he pleases. Look, except her at night.
Josh Arnold
This is a super sweet story, but how did. What news.
Christy Lee
How did this make the USA Today?
Tom Griswold
Because there's a. Because the video is pretty funny. Did we have that?
Josh Arnold
This dog just neighbor and neighbor's dog get along. That's.
Christy Lee
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Griswold
This isn't new. This is more just like a story from some. Somebody at work, you know?
Pat Godwin
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Griswold
This isn't in USA Today.
Josh Arnold
It's very.
Pat Godwin
That's what happened over the weekend.
Tom Griswold
That kind of story, you know, it's. We've gotten to the point where anything that is pleasant in the news is so rare.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Nothing is on fire. No one's shooting. It's just a sweet story about a dog. And if you've by the way, seen this woman, you can see why Biggs keeps going over there.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I see that gal.
Tom Griswold
Sweet gal.
Pat Godwin
So very thin.
Tom Griswold
Big stands for big. Sweetie is a Sweet. It's a big, it's a big golden retriever. And they show him walking down the stairs and hello, I'm here to hang out now.
Christy Lee
Conversely, a pair of dogs were rushed to an emergency vet clinic in Australia after eating nearly two and a half pounds of gummy worms.
Josh Arnold
Oh, boy.
Christy Lee
According to Animal Emergency Service Jindali, Scooter. Wait a minute. According to Animal Emergency Service Jindeli, which I guess is in Australia, Scooter and her sister Jada were brought in after their owners discovered the suspiciously empty bag of gummy worms.
Josh Arnold
You keep, you keep that second dog's name out of your mouth.
Christy Lee
By the way. They're called, called jelly snakes in Australia, not gummy worms.
Josh Arnold
Oh.
Christy Lee
They learned Scooter was responsible for consuming almost the entire bag. Poor Jada, she only got a single piece of candy. Following a short stay at the clinic, both dogs are now said to be doing well at home.
Josh Arnold
Okay, so these weren't THC infused or anything.
Christy Lee
No, it was the amount of sugars and artificial sweeteners. It can be very toxic.
Josh Arnold
Too many gummy worms, the dogs.
Willie Griswold
Of course, Scooter hogged it. If it's Scooter and Jada, Scooter is going to be the one that's getting
Christy Lee
into trouble in our house. Leo's the one that gets into all the trouble.
Tom Griswold
Do you have a picture of the dog there?
Josh Arnold
A cute little vomit?
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
I mean the vomit looks like it's
Tom Griswold
massive, massive amounts of vomit. And it, it's kind of got that taste the rainbow look. Yeah, man.
Willie Griswold
Poor guy knows that he screwed up. He's got that kind of look of shame on his face.
Tom Griswold
I mean, how could that one dog puke? Puke up that much? That's a lot. But yeah, they say some of those, not these apparently, but some of those candies have a substance in them that's
Christy Lee
toxic for dogs, the artificial sweetener.
Tom Griswold
And then of course we had a news story out of Colorado not too long ago that they're very concerned about dogs getting a hold of THC infused gummies, etc. Etc. So if you do that sort of thing, keep them, keep them away from
Christy Lee
dogs, glass jar where they can't get to them.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, they don't have the.
Willie Griswold
But I'm pretty careful with that because if the dog has them, then I can't have them. So I'd rather me have them than the dog have them.
Christy Lee
Good point.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, right.
Josh Arnold
I would rather you have them too.
Willie Griswold
Thank you very much.
Josh Arnold
I'm not gonna lie. I would rather you have so many that you throw up four times like that. And there's a picture of you sort
Tom Griswold
of shamefully
Willie Griswold
have it again.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
But I mean, that look is very colorful. Like it like Rainbow of Barf.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Which doesn't that sound like a band that would open for Oz Oz. Oz Fest.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Coming up next, Rainbow of Barf.
Josh Arnold
They sold out their last album.
Willie Griswold
Yeah. They talk too much between songs now. It's like, play the music, fellas. Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Come on. We don't need the politics.
Willie Griswold
We're in a rock show, boys.
Tom Griswold
Now coming up, a bonus edition of History Today. Oh, this weekend. This past weekend in history. How much fun is that?
Pat Godwin
We're gonna find out.
Josh Arnold

Tom Griswold
Happy story. And then old folks and the reefer.
Josh Arnold
C' est la vie. Say the old folks.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, C' est la vie. Past the joint. Yes, Grammy. We're gonna find out about how they're making it easier for seniors to get their smokables and et cetera, et cetera.

Josh Arnold
Christy Lee is at the news desk.
Christy Lee
Hello.
Josh Arnold
Matt Godwin's across the way.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
As is Willie G at the NHTSA sports desk.
Willie Griswold
I like how this song makes you talk, man. You sound a little cooler now.
Josh Arnold
Oh, wow.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Like a blues guy.
Josh Arnold
I'll tell you what this song reminds me of in a second. There's Ace Cosby. I'm Josh Arnold. And Tom, this song always reminds me of in a movie. It's like a road trip and things are going wrong. And now the car has just broken down in the middle of like a kind of a desert. The hood is up and the smoke is coming out. And now they gotta walk.
Tom Griswold
And the girl you're with sticks her thumb out and gets picked up by two scary dudes and rides off.
Josh Arnold
Oh, it leaves you. Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Dead battery. And now.
Josh Arnold
Oh, boy.
Tom Griswold
Your girl's part of a gang bang.
Willie Griswold
I think we were all seeing a different movie
Brian Bates
people.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Chase. Or a Blues Brothers thing. And.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. There are different. Different ideas out there.
Tom Griswold
Different. Different interpretations.
Pat Godwin
Certainly.
Tom Griswold
Time now for a new feature.
Josh Arnold
Yes.
Tom Griswold
This Weekend in History. Do we have the this Weekend in History music theme? There we go. Thank you very much. All I have to do is find it.
Willie Griswold
I'm glad we do the new intro. The time now for this Weekend in History.
Tom Griswold
Oh, there we go. Now, today is. What is today? August 3rd. Okay, so that means over the weekend. Over the weekend. That means we had both August 1st and August 2nd.
Christy Lee
That's right.
Pat Godwin
Look at you.
Willie Griswold
Can't get anything past you, man.
Tom Griswold
Now, I found out some interesting stuff. I did a little homework on this one. First of all, born on. Excuse me, 1770. Anyone know who this is? Mr. Godwin, I'll ask you. William Clark.
Pat Godwin
You know, that is Lewis and Clark is buddy.
Tom Griswold
Yes, yes. Lewis and Clark. Of course. Clark the lesser known.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Now, do you remember the other guys?
Christy Lee
Clark and Lewis.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Well, I mean, it was alphabetically.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
It was Martin And Lewis. And it's Lewis and Clark. Now. Does anyone remember Lewis's first name?
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Merryweather.
Tom Griswold
Very good one. Willie.
Josh Arnold
Mary, you were supposed to say yes or no, not blurt out the answer like a child.
Tom Griswold
You didn't buzz in. Okay, now here's. This is. I learned something about this guy born in 1779. Christy Lee, do you know who this guy is? Francis Scott Key.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
Yeah. He wrote the Star Spangled Banner.
Tom Griswold
But he didn't write the music, just the lyrics. He just wrote the lyrics.
Pat Godwin
Barry Manilow wrote the music.
Tom Griswold
That interesting.
Christy Lee
Who wrote the music? That guy doesn't get any credit.
Pat Godwin
Than they shouldn't.
Christy Lee
That's why they mention it.
Tom Griswold
Pat, you're not a fan?
Pat Godwin
Oh, I hate the song. I had to sing it at a game once.
Josh Arnold
You can send your email too.
Pat Godwin
Well, here's what song I like. America the Beautiful. I think that I just find it to be tuneless.
Josh Arnold
And it is, it's. It's almost Sondheim esque and that it's all over the place.
Tom Griswold
The funny part about it is the melody was actually the official song of a London gentleman's club club.
Pat Godwin
Oh, no way.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
It's like a drinking song, right?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Now let me clarify. A gentleman's club.
Christy Lee
Was it the same?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Now, now they call a strip jointed
Josh Arnold
gentleman's club, which is hilarious.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
But really, please drink with your pinky out, gentlemen.
Christy Lee
But it was no top at our club.
Tom Griswold
It was. It was a poem. Francis Scott Key wrote defense of Fort McHenry.
Josh Arnold
And it's way long. It's.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The, the version they do with the games is just. That's just long enough. And I, I think if you. The, the. The long one gets a little bit into the weeds there.
Josh Arnold
It's a great poem if you've ever actually read that thing.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Now, but it's also a. Pat, you'll attest to this, a very wide vocal range on that melody.
Pat Godwin
You got to start it low. That's the trick. If you're going to do it, never sing it like I did at a game. What a great night. That was very, very. It was a Phillies Cubs game and I was so. And I found out that morning, the morning that I was going to do it. So I didn't have it memorized, so I had the lyrics in my ball.
Willie Griswold
Neither of those fan bases are known for being aggressive.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. So you were safe.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Did you have the.
Tom Griswold
An organ accompanying you?
Pat Godwin
Yeah, they. They wisely took me up to the organist where I got My note first. And he gives me a little, like, a little. And so I was. I just. I started an A, which brought me to that high note perfectly so you
Christy Lee
weren't standing out on the middle of the field.
Pat Godwin
Oh, on the pitcher's mound.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. So where's your A? Is it.
Brian Bates
Whoa.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, say.
Pat Godwin
That's a little lower. Oh, say, can you see by the dawns.
Josh Arnold
I bet you killed it, dude.
Pat Godwin
Well, here's the. Here's the problem.
Tom Griswold
Get your Rockets red glare for me.
Pat Godwin
Here's. Here's the problem with what I had done. I had said, honestly, they said the lyrics were going to be like on a. On a screen. But I wisely. I said, I'm gonna also tuck them in my ball cap. And I kind of. If you see the clip of us on YouTube, I have the lyrics of my ball cap. But I. They turned me around. The screen was in back of me, so there is no screen. I'm going on perfect memory. So I said Gaelically reaming instead of something I like kind of mumbled one tiny part of it.
Tom Griswold
Gaelically reaming.
Brian Bates
Real close.
Tom Griswold
That's not too offensive.
Josh Arnold
That would be the porn star Jim O Penis. For those listening home.
Tom Griswold
If you're just.
Pat Godwin
If you're just joining Rockets red glare. We're so. We're. We're so reaming or whatever it was.
Willie Griswold
It's just mumbling, Streaming.
Pat Godwin
I believe not.
Josh Arnold
Galen.
Tom Griswold
Oh, God, yeah. That.
Willie Griswold
You want to nail those lyrics, man. You don't want to mess those up.
Tom Griswold
Remember the famous Carl Lewis rendition? Here's a little bit of Carl Lewis, friend of the show. Been in here a couple times. One of the great athletes of all time time. A sprinter, but he decided to sing. A lot of athletes decide they can do stuff like this. Remember Joe Frazier and the knockouts?
Christy Lee
I don't remember.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah, Joe Frazier. He became.
Christy Lee
He had a hit with that.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I know.
Willie Griswold
Josh.
Tom Griswold
Here's Mr. Carl Lewis. So far, so good.
Christy Lee
Doing great. But I love that he did.
Tom Griswold
Go ahead.
Pat Godwin
I'm sorry.
Christy Lee
No, that he called attention to it,
Pat Godwin
like, that was funny.
Christy Lee
It was funny. Made it funny.
Pat Godwin
Over the weekend. Martha and the Vandellas. Martha Reeves sang a. A version that is.
Christy Lee
Oh, that was.
Pat Godwin
Did you see that?
Christy Lee
I did see that.
Pat Godwin
Well, I thought it was.
Christy Lee
It was not good. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
I mean, was it just a. Interesting interpretation or did she hit some.
Pat Godwin
You know, I can't describe it.
Christy Lee
I can't. Sour notes. We'll come back with it. We'll. We'll find it for you.
Tom Griswold
And by the way. What is a Vandella?
Pat Godwin
I don't know, Martha.
Josh Arnold
You know, I look that up. I'll look it up again.
Tom Griswold
No. Okay, I'm sorry. Back to today. I'm sorry. Saturday in history. Herman Melville, of course.
Christy Lee
The See the Whale guy.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah.
Christy Lee
Moby Dick.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, famous. Did you ever see the original edition of Moby Dick? Josh, you're a literary guy.
Josh Arnold
I did read Moby Dick.
Tom Griswold
No, the original edition that had the drawings.
Josh Arnold
Oh, the illustration.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, the Moby Dick pics.
Josh Arnold
Yes, those. It's hard to get your hands on that because.
Tom Griswold
Defolder.
Pat Godwin
I thought we were having a conversation. Setting us up.
Willie Griswold
Feel like a fool.
Christy Lee
We had conversations last week, remember? Right.
Tom Griswold
I do remember.
Pat Godwin
Happy birthday. Tricking us.
Tom Griswold
1933. Happy birthday. The great Dom DeLuise. God, what a great actor. So funny.
Willie Griswold
What's even up to a happy version?
Tom Griswold
Well, not much. Happy version of Orson Welles.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I like that.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, it's a sweet guy. 1936. This is a designer, famous guy. Eve Saint Laurent, of course.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah.
Josh Arnold
You mean Yves.
Willie Griswold
Yeah. What's that Y doing there? I don't know what that thing's up to.
Tom Griswold
Is he still with us? I can't imagine. Okay, he's a guy. Yeah. Yves Laurent.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I always assume. Chick.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. YSL is the ysl.
Christy Lee
Very famous logo purse.
Tom Griswold
And yeah, he had the famous. You can get those. Eve St. Laurent Christmas candles.
Christy Lee
Christmas candles.
Tom Griswold
Christmas Eve. Oh, I see what you're not much less successful. Summer's Eve.
Pat Godwin
Yes, that candle.
Tom Griswold
Summer's Eve.
Josh Arnold
Speaking my language. No, we go on.
Tom Griswold
Oh, the great Jerry Garcia was born on Saturday's date in 1942. Who, by the way, smelled the exact opposite of Yves Saint Laurent.
Josh Arnold
Just to guess if I'm in a mall and I see an Yves Saint Laurent, I go, oh, I'm in the wrong mall. Oh, yeah, this one's not for me.
Willie Griswold
No, you don't belong there.
Tom Griswold
I want to go to one with
Willie Griswold
the Bourbon Chicken samples. That's my mall.
Tom Griswold
Born in 1960. 60. Chuck D. Who predates Chuck E. Cheese? Yes, it was Chuck D. Then he's Chuck E. Real name Carlton. Did you know that?
Christy Lee
Oh, was he a doorman?
Josh Arnold
I did not.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, Carlton. Chuck d. Born in 1963. Coolio. Born artists. Leon Ivy Jr. Born just in time for us. Back to schoolio sales we all look forward to.
Josh Arnold
I met Coolo somewhere. There's a picture by the schoolyard of me with. Yes, it was me and Coolio down by the schoolyard.
Tom Griswold
Did you. When he started, I Remember when he started to go bald? It looked like he had antennas coming out of the side of his head. It was very unfortunate.
Willie Griswold
It's a unique look while you age. That is a unique look, too.
Tom Griswold
It was. It was right. Rough. Oh, Willie, what do you got? I assume you. You celebrated all day Saturday.
Willie Griswold
It's going to be some pot guy.
Tom Griswold
No. Oh, no, no, no. Born in 1978. The great Eden James Love.
Willie Griswold
Edron James. Oh, he's my best friend.
Tom Griswold
Wow.
Willie Griswold
We've never met, but I'm working on it.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Is this somebody I should be familiar with?
Tom Griswold
A great. Was a great football player.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay.
Tom Griswold
I believe and like one of Jim Merce's best friends.
Josh Arnold
Gotcha.
Willie Griswold
All time Colts.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
No. What does the term edging mean, Christy?
Christy Lee
Well, edging, that's where you take your lawn. There's a special.
Josh Arnold
Never mind. That's exactly right. Keep her innocent, will you?
Willie Griswold
Okay.
Tom Griswold
Sorry.
Willie Griswold
You go out, but you never pay the bill. You go out for days.
Josh Arnold
You're speaking euphemistically.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
You keep getting courses and courses and courses, but you never pay.
Tom Griswold
Now, here we go. Jason Momoa.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, he's fun, man. He's a good actor.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
What's he in? Aquaman guy.
Christy Lee
Okay.
Pat Godwin
Yeah. Game of Thrones is where he got his start.
Tom Griswold
Let's see. Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen on Saturday's date in 1774. Do you ever see the famous announcement? He comes out at O2 arena and goes, hey, guess what?
Willie Griswold
I'm not familiar with that arena, so I don't appreciate the joke, but.
Pat Godwin
Oh, there's an arena.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
No, I'm glad they. I'm glad the boys appreciated it.
Tom Griswold
That's the. The biggest stadium in Europe. Right.
Willie Griswold
I don't respect London.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Oh, this is. You like this, Christy, I know your husband has a. A cherokee with like 500,000 miles on it.
Christy Lee
476,000 miles.
Josh Arnold
Nice.
Christy Lee
We sold it.
Josh Arnold
Well, that's not. From now on, you still have it? Yeah.
Pat Godwin
Wait, can you tell a story? Tell a story.
Tom Griswold
Leave that part off.
Christy Lee
Well, I may have forced him to in.
Pat Godwin
Oh, even worse, too many mem.
Tom Griswold
Andy, I've got a spare room. In 1941, the first Jeep was produced.
Christy Lee
Cool.
Tom Griswold
And let me tell you, it was a. Not a Jeep, very expensive.
Josh Arnold
Not nothing a Jeep about it. I spent so much of money.
Tom Griswold
What are all these ducks doing on my Jeep?
Josh Arnold
They should have called it inexpensive.
Tom Griswold
Every time I drive by something money, they wave at me.
Willie Griswold
Is there an Italian connection to Jeep
Christy Lee
or not at all?
Josh Arnold
Just because cheap I Don't care.
Willie Griswold
I loved it. It was worth it either way.
Pat Godwin
I was.
Josh Arnold
He could have gone. He could have gone a different route.
Willie Griswold
Yeah. I was just curious.
Tom Griswold
We sent it to the front and then that we were both fighting the Russians.
Josh Arnold
Somehow that's safe. But if you go, it is very g. Not safe.
Pat Godwin
Now you're in danger. Water.
Josh Arnold
We still don't know the rules.
Pat Godwin
Attack.
Josh Arnold
Italian.
Pat Godwin
Italian fine.
Josh Arnold
Society is fickle.
Pat Godwin
Yes.
Tom Griswold
1960, Chubby Checker released the Twist. Come on, baby.
Josh Arnold
Oh, come on, baby.
Pat Godwin
That's a good impression.
Josh Arnold
That is a fun one. And the Fat Boys had a great cover.
Tom Griswold
You get to watch grandmas at weddings do it.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I love watching grandmas do the toys, don't you?
Tom Griswold
1961, the first six Flags opened in Texas. Not popular until they. They added roller coasters and stuff.
Josh Arnold
Right.
Tom Griswold
First it was just Six Flags.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
That's really exciting.
Josh Arnold
In fact, it pissed a lot of people in Texas.
Tom Griswold
There's only one. Okay, let's see. Pat, the Beatles recorded She loves you on Saturday in 1963.
Pat Godwin
The song that did it for me, I didn't like I want to hold your hand, she loves you just blew my mind.
Josh Arnold
And then the next day they recorded she loves you not. Thank you very much.
Tom Griswold
I don't remember this.
Christy Lee
Crazy.
Tom Griswold
In 1991, Hedy Lamar, the famous. The famous actress was arrested for shoplifting at the age of 77. You know, she. She is part of the group that invented the technology that is Bluetooth.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Pretty wild.
Tom Griswold
Seriously, I say, hey, look, if she invented Bluetooth, let her steal some lip balm. Okay.
Josh Arnold
Yes, she's welcome to some lip balm.
Tom Griswold
I'm okay with that. Alrighty. Well, thank you. That's. That's our first episode of the weekend in history.
Josh Arnold
You mispronounced last.
Tom Griswold
Coming up, we're gonna get together with comedian Brian Bates. I'm very excited about meeting Brian. And we'll return to the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. For a complete copy of the Bob and Tom show contest rules, go to bob and tom.com contest contest-rules or just scroll down to the bottom of the page and see contest rules. This is the Bob and Tom Show.
Josh Arnold
Hey, welcome to the Bob and Tom Show. We are live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. We sure appreciate you being here with us. There's Christy Lee at the news desk.
Christy Lee
Hello.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's at the Music Center.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
At the NHTSA Sports desk, it's Willie Griswold.
Willie Griswold
Good morning.
Josh Arnold
Ace Cosby's. At the control. And Tom, we're joined by a terrific comedian and I want to remind you really quickly that guest comedian appearances on the Bob and Tom show, well, they're sponsored by Lee's famous recipe chicken. Famous for a reason. Many reasons, really. Tom, why don't you introduce our guest who we've met, but I don't think you have.
Tom Griswold
Oops, sorry I wasn't here when Brian was here last time. He is comedian Brian Bates. I've seen him, of course. Yes, he is a part of the Nate Bargazzi world.
Josh Arnold
Nate land, would you say?
Tom Griswold
You could call it that. I think many dot Nate world was taken. Yeah. Brian and I, you and I have been told have something in common. I am a dad of many and. But I became a dad relatively late a few times. Am I correct? This is what I was just told off.
Willie Griswold
He had kids at 60 and 60 too.
Brian Bates
Okay, you got me beat. But yeah, I had my first and only child at age 50.
Pat Godwin
All right.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
And I'm 48 and would eventually like to have kids, so I love hearing stuff like this.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, man.
Brian Bates
Yeah. Do you have a girlfriend?
Josh Arnold
I have many around the world.
Pat Godwin
He does.
Tom Griswold
Hang on a second. You have no idea, Brian, how much I enjoyed the way you put up those.
Brian Bates
I was gonna say why? And I switch mid sentence. Like, let's just stick with girlfriend. Just don't get ahead of ourselves.
Tom Griswold
Oh, either way, it was fantastic.
Christy Lee
Well, you got to play the odds at 48.
Josh Arnold
Exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Brian Bates
I got married at 48 and had a kid at 50.
Tom Griswold
So how's that going?
Brian Bates
Not great.
Tom Griswold
Okay.
Brian Bates
No, it's going great. It's just old dads, it's, it's challenging. Like, like babies, we can never find a babysitter and our friends are like, oh, just let her stay with the grandparents. And we're like, okay, yeah, we'll just drop her off at Harpersville Cemetery.
Tom Griswold
Been there.
Willie Griswold
A little picnic.
Tom Griswold
Now, have you experienced this? I, I, let's see. I have a 10 year old that's my youngest right now.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Tom Griswold
Have you experienced this? You, you go to the, they like the cafeteria. You can look at the food and then they like get the jello. It's all colorful and they don't eat it.
Pat Godwin
You know what I'm talking about?
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
So, yeah, we're at the cafeteria not too long ago and it's, it's a heart. My daughter and one of her friends.
Christy Lee
Friends.
Tom Griswold
And we're carrying our trays and walking to the table. As we walk by this Group of elderly folks.
Brian Bates
Oh, look at this.
Tom Griswold
It's grandpa's day with the grandkids.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
So my little girl heart goes. Yes.
Josh Arnold
So she rolled with it.
Tom Griswold
Oh yeah.
Christy Lee
They.
Tom Griswold
They find nothing funnier.
Brian Bates
Yeah, well, my daughter's 4, so she didn't pick up on that. But yeah, I get that a lot. I get a lot of just head shaking, like about my imaginary teenage daughter that they think I'm now raising the grandbaby. I have men come up to say thank you for stepping up, sir.
Willie Griswold
You're the grandpa who stepped up, man.
Brian Bates
Yeah, I did. My family photos are wild. Like every time we post a family photo, the comments just some guy asked, is this AI? And AI was like, I think it might be. I'm not sure.
Josh Arnold
Did I do that?
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Hanging out with comedian Brian Bates. You can find more about brian@brianbatescomedy.com. and you're a B, R, I, A N. Yes. What is the distinction there?
Christy Lee
A B, R, Y, a N. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Is that a Irish thing or.
Christy Lee
I don't know.
Tom Griswold
I don't know. But now, speaking of puzzles, we were talking about Martha Reeves and the vandellas. Famous sort of 60s, maybe 70s Motown band, right?
Christy Lee
Yes.
Tom Griswold
And Martin, Ms. Reeves, still alive. Five. Somewhat controversial. We'll get to that in a second. And I asked, what is a Vandella?
Christy Lee
I was told that a Vandella came from the fact that Martha Reeves lived on Van Dyke Avenue in Detroit and she was a big fan of Della Reese, thus the name of the Vandellas.
Tom Griswold
Oh, cool.
Pat Godwin
Really?
Christy Lee
Thanks, Art. I don't know if that's right, but that's a great explanation because there are
Tom Griswold
a lot of bands that have. It sounds like something that is, but it's really nothing.
Christy Lee
Right.
Tom Griswold
Know band, they. They make up a. They make up a thing. So that's cool. But apparently Martha Reeves saying at some baseball game over the weekend, the World
Christy Lee
Professional, the Women's Professional Baseball League had their opening game over the weekend.
Josh Arnold
Oh, cool.
Christy Lee
Yeah. And she sang the national anthem along with two other ladies. Not Vandellas.
Tom Griswold
Uhuh.
Christy Lee
Just two other ladies. I don't remember their names.
Brian Bates
Stellas.
Christy Lee
We have some of the audio. Martha is now 85, I believe.
Willie Griswold
All right.
Christy Lee
She look great. Right.
Pat Godwin
This is the woman who sang Dancing in the Streets. Just so you know.
Christy Lee
Sure.
Josh Arnold
No, that was David Bowie and Mick Jagger.
Tom Griswold
Oh, it's. It was David Lee Roth. Right.
Josh Arnold
Dancing in the Streets.
Christy Lee
Oh, he did.
Tom Griswold
Killed it.
Pat Godwin
He did.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Christy Lee
Yes.
Tom Griswold
That's one of the. That wasn't that the. One of the that was like the breakthrough for Van Halen, right? Getting on the radio. No, no, they did a, they did a Kinks cover.
Josh Arnold
First album.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, you really, really got me. Okay. David Lee Roth killed them. Okay, so do we have the audio from this? Oh, I've got it over here. Very handy. And this is Ms. Reeves. Here we go. Oh, yikes. Here it is. Oh, say can you see by the
Pat Godwin
d
Tom Griswold
what so proudly we have at the twilight. Okay, you get the idea.
Josh Arnold
You actually played Diane Ream singing the national.
Pat Godwin
The problem is the other two ladies are in a different key. Yeah, so that's making it worse for poor Mor.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I'm not sure it's not just the key.
Josh Arnold
Well, I mean, what, what do people want from an 85 year old? I don't understand the critic. So what?
Christy Lee
I'm just telling you, social media was all over that one yesterday, Martha.
Tom Griswold
There's, there's some young, young, young up and coming singer they could get.
Josh Arnold
Well, it wasn't out to make people mad, you know.
Christy Lee
Of course not.
Pat Godwin
Poor thing was asked to do it.
Brian Bates
We've been talking about source Spangled Banner on our podcast and Greg Warren pointed out there is a second verse to the.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah.
Brian Bates
And no one seemed to care on our podcast. But it's quite good, I hear.
Pat Godwin
Oh, yeah, it's extremely well written.
Josh Arnold
Good poem.
Brian Bates
And then we debated about Francis Scott Key. Is that a man or a woman? And we looked up the picture and we're still not sure. It's like paternity. We're not, we're not clear.
Josh Arnold
I didn't realize there was a picture of Francis Scott Key.
Brian Bates
There's.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah.
Brian Bates
Well.
Tom Griswold
And we just discovered he didn't write the music. We found that out a few minutes ago.
Christy Lee
Wrote just the lyrics.
Brian Bates
Who wrote the music?
Tom Griswold
The music is Ed Sheeran. The music is from a, A quote gentleman's club in London, England.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Tom Griswold
And that was the same thing with Happy Birthday. Right. There were certain tunes that they would just put different lyrics to. It was kind of a common thing to do at the time. But now we're gonna, we're gonna move forward here. What's coming up in the news, Christy Lee?
Christy Lee
Coming up, we have a new dining experience going on tonight in Florida.
Josh Arnold
What kind of new dining?
Christy Lee
Nude.
Josh Arnold
Nude?
Christy Lee
Yeah. Oh, it could be new. It's a new nude dining experience. Experience. We have a kiosk of cannabis for the retirement homes.
Willie Griswold
That's exciting.
Christy Lee
Yeah. And airport divorce. That's in the news today, huh?
Tom Griswold
Yeah, it's, it's not divorced divorce.
Christy Lee
Yeah, it's, it's not like passing the kids off at the airport.
Tom Griswold
The essence of it is if, if you've experienced, been there, if you've experienced a traveling, let's say traveling with your wife and flashbacks. Traveling with your wife.
Willie Griswold
I'm in Fort Lauderdale right now.
Josh Arnold
Tom doesn't want to explore. He's clearly trying to steamroll.
Tom Griswold

Hey, it's the Bob and Tom show live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. Thank you for being with us. Christy Lee's at the news desk.
Christy Lee
Well, hello there.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's there with his guitar and keyboard.
Pat Godwin
Hey, Josh.
Josh Arnold
Willie G at the NHTSA sports desk. Good morning. There's Ace Cosby. I'm Josh Arnold. We're all here in the O'Reilly Auto Parts studios. Remember to thank O'Reilly Auto Parts for all your car care needs. Get the parts and service you need fast from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. And there's Tom. Tom, we're joined by an absolutely terrific comedian.
Tom Griswold
He is comedian Brian Bates and he's got a new comedy special out there and titled Worried.
Josh Arnold
All right.
Tom Griswold
You'll find it on Nateland's YouTube channel and it's out right now.
Brian Bates
That's right.
Josh Arnold
Excellent.
Tom Griswold
The World of Nate Bargazzi. Nateland, you're going to be Doing some live gigs. I noticed Zany's the one in Chicago. Coming up September 6th. September 25th, the Canton Centennial Plaza in Canton, Ohio.
Josh Arnold
Oh, cool.
Tom Griswold
And then October 3rd, Commonwealth Comedy Club in Dayton, Kentucky.
Willie Griswold
Love it there.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, right? That's. That's awesome. Don't now, while I'm at it, Willie G. Wednesday night at Zany's in Nashville with Frank Caliendo.
Willie Griswold
Yeah. Down at Brian Stomping Grounds. It's gonna be fun, man.
Tom Griswold
Okay, cool. Brian, we've established a couple things. You're a man of a certain age, but you also have a four year old.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
So born when you were what, 50, you said?
Brian Bates
That's correct.
Tom Griswold
Okay.
Pat Godwin
All right.
Tom Griswold
I know what. I've been there. I know what it's like.
Willie Griswold
You were 10 years older, but yeah.
Tom Griswold
So I wrote really been there. Now where do you live? What part of the country?
Brian Bates
So I live in Nashville. And yeah, Zany's in Nashville is my home club. And I was gonna ask you this. When you take your kids to the park, right. Was there any challenges? Because I like, I make sure I stay close to my daughter because I don't look like I belong there. Like, I want them to know that I have a reason to be there. Right. I stay close to her because I'm not old enough. Like the sweet old grandpa just there with his granddaughter.
Pat Godwin
Daughter.
Brian Bates
I'm just old enough like that guy should not be near the monkey bars.
Tom Griswold
Wow. That I never thought about that. I suppose that perception, I'm sure is true. Yeah. In my case, they just think I'm grandpa. So I'm okay.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Interesting.
Brian Bates
I'm in that in between phase.
Tom Griswold
And I was. When I was born, most of my grandparents were dead. One of my grandfathers was alive, but not for long. I only remember seeing him once. All I remember is what? He smelled bad. I later learned that was the smell of death.
Christy Lee
Was your dad an older dad? How old were you? How old was your dad when you were born?
Tom Griswold
Oh, God, hang on a second. 26, 36, 40.
Christy Lee
Okay, okay.
Tom Griswold
Not too bad, not too bad.
Brian Bates
A little bit like President John Tyler, you know, he 10th president, United States. And he had a grandson that was
Tom Griswold
still alive a couple years ago. Yeah, yeah, they just. Yeah. That's amazing.
Josh Arnold
Did he get Secret Service all the way? You know how ex presidents and sometimes their families.
Willie Griswold
How's that work? Are you grandfathered in?
Josh Arnold
Did he get the one.
Brian Bates
The same guys? Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Or just one dude who occasionally had to check in on him from the Secret Service.
Willie Griswold
His suit's not even that nice, right?
Tom Griswold
Do you. Have you mentioned that this is a bad question? Are any of your parents alive still? Grandparents?
Brian Bates
Yeah, my mom's still alive.
Tom Griswold
Okay, there we. So thank you.
Brian Bates
But we don't let her stay with her because my mom, she has like old school remedy. She's 82. She's a sweet little soda lady. She's just like, put a piece of parsley between her butt cheeks, cure the hiccups. No, no, no, no, no. We're not gonna do that.
Josh Arnold
Well, have you tried it?
Brian Bates
I haven't tried it. I'm not going to.
Tom Griswold
You talk about very old fashioned. Yeah, that's great. That's great. Now do you. I know that you've got a podcast. And where does one find it? Give me the background again.
Brian Bates
Nateland, the Nateland World. Nateland Entertainment. It's on YouTube. It's called Public Figures Podcast. Last time I was here was the. It was the Nateland Podcast. But then Nate got so big he bounced and we changed it to the Public Figures Podcast.
Christy Lee
All right.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And a couple friends of the show, I think are on it with you.
Brian Bates
Yeah. Dusty Slay, very funny comedian. And, and Aaron Weber. The three of us do it then. We have different guests. We have Frank Caliento on this week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Greg Warren's a regular guest.
Josh Arnold
I mean, all cool.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, Greg. And I'm big. I'm a big fan. I'm a big fan of Greg Warren now coming up, we have of Things in the World of News with Christy Lee and a special edition of Today in History if you'd like me to do it. This is.
Christy Lee
Are we on Sunday now?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. So this is a new feature we have. I should explain to Brian, it's called the Weekend in History because we weren't here.
Christy Lee
Correct.
Tom Griswold
And I think it's important for people to understand what happened in the past.
Willie Griswold
Well, and don't confuse this with our other segment, Weekend in History. But there's no third E in Weekend. It's about the singer, the Weekend.
Josh Arnold
Right, right.
Brian Bates
In History.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Today he had his first French bread pizza. Isn't that something? He was in second grade in History.
Tom Griswold
Now this is interesting because this kind of is on. On topic. In 1923, on yesterday's date, President Warren G. Hardy died. Did you know that he was famous for being kind of a playboy?
Josh Arnold
Is that right?
Christy Lee
I did not know that.
Josh Arnold
Did he have a nickname at all?
Tom Griswold
He famously had at least one illegitimate child.
Willie Griswold
Cool.
Tom Griswold
He Wore A size 14 shoe.
Josh Arnold
Congratulations.
Tom Griswold
He was a big poker player. And he died in San Francisco on a trip back from Alaska.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I see.
Tom Griswold
See, he also famously.
Christy Lee
This was.
Tom Griswold
He died in 1923, as I mentioned, but he was famous for having a lot of liquor at the White House. It was during prohibition, so there you go. Now, we touched on this earlier today. In 1610, Henry Hudson entered the bay it would later be named after.
Josh Arnold
This is mine.
Willie Griswold
That's kind of cool.
Tom Griswold
I mean, you have to wonder, did he do it right?
Josh Arnold
I hope so.
Willie Griswold
Well, it's like a nickname. You don't want to give yourself your own nickname. You don't want to declare any bay your own.
Josh Arnold
But funnier if he did.
Willie Griswold
Oh, absolutely.
Tom Griswold
And then they. My Bay in 1611.
Josh Arnold
They should see my river.
Tom Griswold
They got stuck, and they spent a very unpleasant winter in the ice. And then when it was time to. When the ice melted in 1611, they. They wanted to keep going. At least Henry did, but the crew didn't. So they put him and his son on a little raft, and they were never seen again.
Willie Griswold
See you, Hank.
Josh Arnold
So what if the son was like, guys, I didn't want to be here either. Oh, yeah, he's my dad. What am I gonna do?
Tom Griswold
But I. I'm not clear on when they. When it was officially named Hudson Bay.
Brian Bates
But he was never seen again. That's.
Tom Griswold
No.
Christy Lee
No.
Tom Griswold
Oh, that's it.
Brian Bates
We don't know what happened to him.
Tom Griswold
No.
Brian Bates
He could still be alive.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Having dinner with Amelia and Elvis. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Well, that would be news, huh? Hudson News could have. Hudson News. I have a question.
Tom Griswold
It'd be weird calling it the Hudson Bay if he was still alive and everything. Did they refer to it as the Last Supper when they were eating that night?
Josh Arnold
No, I don't. I think that's reserved for the only one.
Pat Godwin
I mean.
Tom Griswold
Okay.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
I mean, did they call it that? I got.
Christy Lee
He didn't send out the invite.
Tom Griswold
Hey, welcome to. I got a table. I got a table for 13. The invites at the Last Supper.
Christy Lee
Right?
Tom Griswold
Okay, maybe.
Josh Arnold
Right.
Tom Griswold
This is interesting. On Yesterday's date in 1776, they actually had the formal signing of the Declaration of Independence. So even then, the government was slow to get things going.
Pat Godwin
Going.
Tom Griswold
But I guess they had already made the July 4th T shirts.
Christy Lee
I was gonna say, why did we celebrate on July 4, then?
Tom Griswold
Because the T shirt.
Josh Arnold
Right, Exactly. Well, we gotta move these.
Tom Griswold
And they,
Josh Arnold
by the way, printed in Bangladesh. That's embarrassing, isn't it?
Willie Griswold
And guess what? They only put 13 stars on it. What an idiot. Can you believe that?
Tom Griswold
Hey, John Hancock. All right, we get it? You're here. Okay.
Josh Arnold
And it was a formal signing, except for John Fetterman. He. He of course wore shit shorts.
Willie Griswold
I feel like Ben Franklin was the Fetterman of the day. I feel like he was always just casual.
Josh Arnold
I wish all politicians were, in terms of dress code and stuff. The Fetterman of the. Who cares?
Willie Griswold
It'd be. I mean, just watch like Thomas Jefferson and flip flops. That's a pretty good time.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. Show up in a hoodie. Who are we kidding? Guys have to get dressed up every day.
Tom Griswold
In 1909, United States issued the first law, Lincoln pennies. Are they still making pennies?
Christy Lee
Nope.
Tom Griswold
No, they're done.
Josh Arnold
So that is over.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Where are all those old machines, you think?
Pat Godwin
Where are all those old machines?
Tom Griswold
I mean, the ones that. The ones that turn a penny into a.
Willie Griswold
A long penny.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
First off, don't make fun of my favorite hobby. I love a long penny. My friend Sebastian went to the aquarium, got me a long penny. And inflation has affected long pennies. They're more.
Brian Bates
What is a long penny?
Willie Griswold
You know, when you go to the place and you. You set it and then they. They crush it. You put in a penny and four other quarters and then now all of
Josh Arnold
a sudden it's a sheds aquarium or whatever. Yeah, exactly.
Willie Griswold
And it's nice. I got a Legoland one. They're cool, man. They're fun to collect.
Tom Griswold
It's a great scam.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. $99 to ruin your one penny.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Not $99. Sorry, 99 cents.
Tom Griswold
Why is it when you say, what is it? A penny for your thoughts. But if you're in a meeting and you want to add something, you go, I'm going to put in my two cents.
Josh Arnold
Well, because it costs you two cents to add something. Something. But if I want to buy a thought from you, it's only a penny. You see?
Tom Griswold
Oh, I see.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it all makes perfect sense.
Tom Griswold
Let's see now. The movie the Sixth Sense premiered on Yesterday's date in 1999.
Brian Bates
Don't ruin it for me.
Pat Godwin
Now we have six cents. Two pennies,
Willie Griswold
folks. This is crazy.
Tom Griswold
Happy birthday, 1932. The great Peter O'. Toole.
Pat Godwin
Oh, I love him.
Tom Griswold
From one of my favorite movies called My Favorite Year. Among many. He was nominated, I want to say, seven or eight times for an Academy Award and never he got one of those.
Josh Arnold
Oh, the honorary.
Tom Griswold
I highly recommend the movie, My Favorite Year. You'll like this one, Josh. 1939. Wes Craven.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yes, the late, great Wes Craven. Oh, my gosh.
Tom Griswold
1959. Victoria Jackson.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I love her.
Christy Lee
She's funny.
Tom Griswold
She was married to Michael Jackson. Is that right?
Josh Arnold
That's. That's exactly.
Tom Griswold
Okay. Okay.
Brian Bates
Victoria lives in Nashville now.
Josh Arnold
Oh, she does? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Brian Bates
I see her around.
Tom Griswold
Oh, this is interesting. This actor. 1977, born Edward Furlong.
Josh Arnold
Sure.
Tom Griswold
From the Terminator.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah. T2.
Tom Griswold
He hasn't. He. He hasn't done much lately.
Josh Arnold
He didn't. He was also in Pet Sematary 2.
Tom Griswold
Didn't stick around for.
Brian Bates
Who was he in Terminator 2.
Josh Arnold
We'll get back to that, Tom. We will get back to. Who was he in Terminator 2? John Connor. The young John Connor.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. And by the way, it's pet sematary 2. T O O, not T W O.
Willie Griswold
It is so funny how you have a crazy knowledge of bad movies.
Josh Arnold
Actually, it might be spelled TW O, but I always enjoy when they do T O O.
Willie Griswold
Don't question yourself yet, buddy.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah, you're right.
Tom Griswold
You may be right. You got a nice. This could be your thing.
Josh Arnold
This has been my thing.
Tom Griswold
I mean, but you could.
Willie Griswold
You could.
Tom Griswold
I mean, really big. Make it big. And now the guy famous for sequels,
Pat Godwin
he knows all the Jaws sequels. I didn't know any of that.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah, yeah. You. You had to be reminded of 3 and 3D and jaws for the Revenge or just Jaws the Revenge. That's the fourth one.
Pat Godwin
That's the fourth.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. That's the one where Jaws growls. That's right.
Tom Griswold
Oh, the fish. Okay, I'm glad I missed that. And that's Yesterday in history. Coming up, today in History History, we're hanging out with comedian Brian Bait. Do you like doing morning radio shows? I mean, you do a podcast. Hilarious comedically.
Josh Arnold
That was the only.
Pat Godwin
Hilarious. That's the only way you can make that funny.
Brian Bates
Yeah. I hate it. No, no, I'm honored to be here, guys.
Josh Arnold
I'm thrilled.
Tom Griswold
But you doing a podcast, it's not like a sarcastic. What time of day do you typically Record your podcast?
Brian Bates
4:00 Clock in the afternoon.
Pat Godwin
Okay.
Tom Griswold
So it's a different feel.
Brian Bates
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is. But I, I, you know, I'm not a morning person, but I guess you guys all are. You have to be.
Josh Arnold
Oh, God, no.
Brian Bates
No, no, you're not.
Josh Arnold
That's the biggest misconception about this job.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, you get used to it.
Pat Godwin
No, you don't.
Christy Lee
No, you don't.
Willie Griswold
Sometimes I'll see Josh in between breaks. He'll kind of sit out on the. The porch just enjoying the morning, and I just look at him go, man. You don't want to be here. You'd rather be enjoying the morning somewhere
Josh Arnold
on a porch, man. You have to see me on the porch to know that not you get.
Tom Griswold
Say you go on vacation like I did last week. You're. You're a couple time zones over.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Then it's. I get up at 3 in the morning. Well, I was getting up at the equivalent of whatever 9 o' clock in the morning. So you got it. It's really hard to get back in gear.
Willie Griswold
He's losing it. He's up at 6. He's got heart. My little sister. He's trying to make her do sports in the morning. He's totally lost.
Josh Arnold
Oh no.
Willie Griswold
He's doing ad reads at breakfast. It's crazy.
Brian Bates
Is. Is Indiana with a Stan that has split time zones? No.
Tom Griswold
Well. Well, Chicago area.
Christy Lee
Yeah. When you get north of Lafayette, it switches to Central time, but the rest of state's Eastern.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Brian Bates
Do you guys stay up later? I mean not you guys, but eastern people in Eastern time zone.
Josh Arnold
I've always wondered that too because I grew up in central time.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Saying to me, you're in Nashville and that's Central time.
Brian Bates
And so there's TV shows, sporting events that just go later in the East Coast.
Christy Lee
Yeah. It's true.
Brian Bates
I just wonder if that's a Eastern thing. Like you just stay up an hour later then.
Josh Arnold
Right. I always wanted.
Tom Griswold
This is going kind of deep into the weeds, but there were FCC regulations that there were certain language restrictions that ended at 10 o'.
Brian Bates
Clock.
Tom Griswold
So the shows that went on at 10 could be a little more salty. And then when that. That became a problem with the time zone switch because some of Those shows at 10 were actually airing at 9. 9. It gets a little weird into the whole world of what time.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
In the Central time zone. NYPD Blue came on at 9pm yeah. And it. They. They had warnings or whatever, you know you're gonna see Dennis Franz's ass button shower. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, that would. And that. It's hard to believe that that was a big. That was a big thing. Was.
Josh Arnold
Right. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Who wanted to see Dennis Francis. But.
Josh Arnold
Well, whenever that warning wasn't on the episode I did. You didn't watch.
Brian Bates
I'm out.
Josh Arnold
You can write your little tickets and arrest people. I'm only here for that ass.
Tom Griswold
Well, coming up we have more news and we have. Believe it or not, we have today in history.
Christy Lee
Ah.
Willie Griswold
We're learning a lot in the past.
Tom Griswold
But right now we're going to check in with Christy Lee, and what's going on with your vehicle?
Christy Lee
Well, my vehicle's running fine. But if you would love to get into a hunting Hyundai, check this out. It's the getaway sales event going on now at your local Hyundai dealer. There are some great deals on their popular models like the SUVs, the Hyundai Santa Fe or Santa Fe Hybrid, the Tucson or of course, my favorite, the Tucson Hybrid. Tom Griswold
And you see you're getting about what, 35 a gallon? That's amazing because you've got the hybrid.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Okay. Now that's all on the way. Plus, we do have other things in the world of news forthcoming, including the sudden popularity of the so called bathroom refrigerator. A huge uptick in sales.
Christy Lee
It's not why you think.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, okay.
Christy Lee
Yeah, it's kind of, it's not for your shower beer.
Josh Arnold
Oh.
Christy Lee
Oh.
Josh Arnold
I mean, that is what I would have thought.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Brian Bates
Also sitting and drinking, right? I don't think that's what you were thinking, Josh. I think you were thinking if I sit down, might as well have some
Josh Arnold
food while I'm at it, right?
Willie Griswold
My bathroom.
Tom Griswold
We also, we have a really funny story when we come back about a, I guess it's a police sting operation in which one of the policemen disguises himself. You'll be astonished when you see what exactly is going on. These are the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. Hey, thanks for listening this morning. Got something to say? Send us an email, bob and tomobandtom.com There you go.
Josh Arnold
Hey, it's the Bob and Tom show live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. Christy Lee's at the news desk.
Willie Griswold
Hello.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's next to her. Hey, hey, over there. It's Willie G. At the NITSA sports desk. Hey, there's Ace Cosby. Hey, Josh. I'm Josh Arnold and Tom, we're joined by a terrific comedian this morning. Happy to have him in here.
Tom Griswold
He's Brian Bates. I was just, I was just thinking, did you ever have a nickname when you were a kid? You're like BB or something?
Brian Bates
Well, I had Master, of course.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, dude, I bet you did.
Brian Bates
Imagine I still to this day People, Every guy thinks he's the first one that came up with that. Yeah, he's the, like, what? I don't even know. Can I say that word on.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, no, no. I, I just picked up a Say it.
Josh Arnold
I do it.
Tom Griswold
People
Pat Godwin
think time during commercials.
Tom Griswold
Why do you think. Why do you think? Josh was gone during the break. I got a nice tea. He was, you know, Brian Bates. I was just wondering if you were
Josh Arnold
like, BB or, Or did you get Norman?
Brian Bates
I got Norman some. I have a joke about. Yeah. Being called Norman Bates. I, I, I got. Yeah, I have friends call me B. Bates and I think I had a B.B.
Tom Griswold
yeah, B. Bates is kind of cool.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, Bates is kind of cool.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, it's nice.
Josh Arnold
Hey, I'm changing right now. Thank you.
Tom Griswold
Who's bringing the beer? Bates will be here.
Brian Bates
I'm gonna get a new Persona.
Christy Lee
Almost like a hip hoppy thing.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, that's that.
Brian Bates
When you look at me, you think hip hop.
Christy Lee
Exactly. Yeah, right.
Brian Bates
I was a clean comic till right now.
Christy Lee
Clean it. Hip hop.
Tom Griswold
We've established a few things here. Four year old.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
Okay, check. And let's see now. Mother alive, but not babysitting. Your mother, Correct.
Brian Bates
My mother, she's doing great for 82, but there's just some little things I'm not going to trust her with. My, My four year old, she goes to church every Sunday morning. She drives herself. She never misses. But back in January, we had ice storm in Nashville. She didn't feel safe one Sunday morning to drive, so she said she stayed home and watched church for first time ever on live stream. And I, like, I didn't know my mom knew how to do that. And she said it was over. She sees people starting to get up. She's like, well, there's Gail. I can't believe Gail would go out on a day like today. Well, there's Faye. I can't believe Faye would go out on a day like today. And then she said she saw herself and realized she was not watching live stream. She was watching last week's church service. And she says, a pretty weird feeling to be watching something you think is live and see yourself walk by.
Christy Lee
She didn't recognize this. The hymns and the.
Brian Bates
That's what I said. I said, how close are you listening to these sermons?
Josh Arnold
You watch the whole thing.
Brian Bates
She's like, I just thought he was trying to drive home some points. She said, you know, I did think it was weird. We pray for Fred to get better. When I'd been to his funeral on Thursday.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, that's Great. I. I found out not too long, long ago that one of the. Every city has the mega church on Sunday morning. He'll be watching. And there's some national. A regional church guy. And I found out the one guy that's been on forever has been dead for 20 years, and they're still airing
Christy Lee
the same guy asking for money still.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Christy Lee
That doesn't seem right.
Brian Bates
Well, there's one guy, Charles Stanley. I don't know if that's who you're talking about, but his grandson's a comic. Stanley. Comic.
Willie Griswold
Oh, oh, Andrew Stanley. Yeah, yeah, I know him. He's great.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the tradition of Sam Kinison.
Brian Bates
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're a little different, but.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. No, but I mean, same tradition.
Pat Godwin
No, no.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Sam Kinison was from a family of preachers.
Brian Bates
Yeah, I remember that.
Tom Griswold
And for those of you have a certain age that aren't familiar with Sam Kinison, well, that was a moment in comedy. That was. That was really something.
Brian Bates
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
He had one of the most famous pieces ever, ever about food. I'll just leave. I'll just. I'll just leave it at that. We're hanging around with Brian Bates. Brian is a part of the Nateland comedy world, and he's got a new comedy special. It's called Worried out now on Nateland's YouTube channel.
Josh Arnold
Are you indeed a worried man?
Brian Bates
Well, I have what they call resting worried face. People always think I'm worried. And it originally started my senior trip in high school. I went down to Florida with my friends and. And I never had game. I know that's hard to believe now, but never any game. We met these girls down there on the beach, and my M.O. was I'm gonna play it cool. Like, I don't even care to be here. You know, just whatever.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Brian Bates
And I'm staying. That's what I think I'm doing. And one of the girls, just out of blue, goes, this guy looks worried. And all the girls started laughing and they called me worried the whole weekend.
Josh Arnold
Oh, man.
Brian Bates
But they were. It stuck with me. There's. Yeah, there's. You know, people think I'm, you know, nobody wants me to sit with film waiting for test results. Funerals I do great at.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah.
Brian Bates
People are like, I didn't know he was so close to him.
Tom Griswold
He's taking it hard.
Josh Arnold
Resting worried face.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Wow. Brian Bates also live in person in Chicago at Zany's, coming up September 6th. And then at the Canton Centennial Plaza in Canton, Ohio. Hello. Hello, ken. Good Morning. September 25th and then October 3rd, the Commonwealth Comedy club in Dayton, Kentucky, which is basically Cincinnati.
Brian Bates
They, they want you to pitch it. Now. It's. You can literally see the Cincinnati skyline from, from there. But Cincinnati sits right on that border.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
If you go high enough in a building, you can see Dayton, Ohio, that way and Dayton, Kentucky, that way.
Willie Griswold
There you go.
Tom Griswold
Oh, yeah. It's amazing, isn't it? It'd be weird being from a town that, you know, like being here that has the name of another famous place, but it's not that one.
Christy Lee
Oh, you mean like London, Ohio? London, England?
Tom Griswold
You spend your whole time. No, no, no, no.
Christy Lee
I'm not from London, London.
Tom Griswold
I'm not that one. Yeah, I'm at the other one. Christy Lee is at the Bobaton news desk. You want to get one story out?
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
Authorities in New Jersey used an unusual approach to catch distracted drivers. All right. They used an officer disguised as a bush.
Josh Arnold
Oh, this is like that guy from Get Smart.
Willie Griswold
I love this.
Tom Griswold
But when you see the photograph, it's. I mean, they really spent some time.
Christy Lee
The dunelum Barrow police borough police department said it conducted a distracted driving enforcement detail to enforce New Jersey's handheld cell phone law. No, I thought you were going to make fun of me saying burrow again because I can't say that word. With the help of an officer dressed head to toe as a bush, your favorite shrub. They issued 74 citations to drivers distracted by their devices in just a six hour window. Window. The department shared images of the initiative which showed the officer covered in greenery while looking through a set of binoculars. All right, are you ready? Do we have. There you go.
Willie Griswold
That's hilarious.
Tom Griswold
I mean it, it looks. You can't tell.
Christy Lee
You would not.
Josh Arnold
Are you kidding me?
Tom Griswold
He's standing. He's standing next to an ivy covered tree. I mean, that's a. If, if you were 100 yards away.
Willie Griswold
No, I would see the crazy man.
Pat Godwin
Just a green swamp monster. Look at that bush.
Josh Arnold
With clearly human hands holding up, holding binoculars.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Why wouldn't they put green gloves on?
Pat Godwin
I can see his eyes now.
Tom Griswold
This is.
Pat Godwin
Looks like Oscar.
Tom Griswold
So they pulled. How many?
Christy Lee
They pulled over like 74 drivers and got pulled over.
Brian Bates
How do they do it though? Did he like radio someone?
Christy Lee
I guess.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I'm sure it's a team thing,
Willie Griswold
but I mean, also, this looks like a speed trap town, man. This looks like one of those small highways where you can go 50 and then it's.
Brian Bates
Oh, I, I have to.
Willie Griswold
It's 15 minutes, 15 miles per hour speed limit.
Josh Arnold
Out of nowhere, it look. Does look like a small enough town to where. It's one of those. Where it was 65, and then all of a sudden it goes down to 20 for one mile, and then 65 again.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, man, I hate that.
Josh Arnold
Which you got to be careful.
Willie Griswold
Of course you do.
Tom Griswold
But this is the. This is that this guy could have
Josh Arnold
stood there dressed as a normal man and done the same job. Colors off. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
But then they couldn't call it Operation Lawn and Order.
Josh Arnold
That does make it all right. No, I think it's great.
Tom Griswold
If he backs up into the tree, you're not going to see him.
Willie Griswold
No, I just think this police department got a ghillie suit, and they go, hey, we got it. We got to use it. Guys, we got it. We paid for this thing already. We got to use it.
Tom Griswold
I mean, it's. I tried to describe it. It's. It's. It looks like a gorilla suit, but it's green. But it's all right.
Christy Lee
Leaves. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
I mean, it's a thick, thick thing. It's. Who's it. What's his name? A Groot, Right? Yeah, that's. It's kind of got Groot.
Willie Griswold
You looked at it like Groot was my friend. You looked over. Oh, you know him?
Tom Griswold
I could remember his name.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. I mean, he looks like if you know Jordy Verrell from Creep Show. It's the Stephen King grass.
Brian Bates
A little bit like the famous Bigfoot footage.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it does look like a Sasquatch. A green Sasquatch.
Tom Griswold
And that's a big thing now. You can't. A friend of ours was just nailed in California buy a Sasquatch?
Brian Bates
Yeah, it's getting out of hand.
Josh Arnold
We called him
Brian Bates
Epidemic man.
Tom Griswold
For holding up, having a phone in their ear.
Josh Arnold
Oh, gotcha. He's supposed to go Bluetooth.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah. You can't. You can't be holding the phone with your hand. So anyway, I thought it was kind of fun.
Josh Arnold
It is fun.
Willie Griswold
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it's great. But it's not.
Tom Griswold
And then the guy, the cop, got attacked by some bees.
Christy Lee
I was gonna say how many dogs?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Then it became a sting operation.
Christy Lee
Seriously, do you think any dogs came up to him and.
Pat Godwin
Absolutely.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
And.
Brian Bates
But.
Josh Arnold
And he would have to sit still and just let it pee on his leg.
Willie Griswold
So funny.
Tom Griswold
I wonder if this will be copied by other law enforcement people. Okay. Brian Bates. Thanks for stopping by. I know you gotta run, Brian. Once again, he's got. Yeah, but that's what I was just told. No. Yes. No.
Josh Arnold
Get out of. You know, what if you're not going to stay the whole time we want you, get out.
Brian Bates
I can't say another hour. I could stay one more segment.
Tom Griswold
That's good.
Josh Arnold
Just teasing you.
Tom Griswold
The comedy, the comedy special is called Worried and it's on Nateland, the YouTube channel. We are coming right back to Bob and Tom Land. We are in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. Hey, thanks for listening to the Bob and Tom show this morning. Get a look at today's show on our YouTube channel. To the action.
Josh Arnold
Hey there, it's the Bob and Tom Show. We are live from the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. We appreciate you being here because our guest doesn't appreciate being here that much. In fact, he's trying to get out of here. We've asked him to stay a little.
Tom Griswold
Had to embarrass him.
Josh Arnold
And no kidding, we'll get to him
Tom Griswold
in just a second.
Josh Arnold
There's Christy. Yes. What if we made him stay one more segment and never talk, never mention? Christy Lee's at the news desk.
Christy Lee
Yes, sir.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's next to her. Hello, there's Willie G. At the NITSA sports desk.
Willie Griswold
Hey, man.
Josh Arnold
Ace Cosby's across the way. Hello. And Tom, who, who are we talking about?
Tom Griswold
He's comedian Brian Bates. Got a new, got a new special out there. It's called Worried Worried and it's on the Naatland YouTube channel and it's out right now.
Josh Arnold
Check it out.
Brian Bates
It's very funny.
Tom Griswold
And then once again, you're going to be alive and in person in Chicago with Zany's September 6th.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
The Canton Centennial Plaza in Canton, Ohio, coming up September 25th. So you can go check out the hall of Fame from the Internet football. And then you go see Brian. And then the Commonwealth Comedy Club October 3rd in Dayton, Kentucky. Dayton, Kentucky, of course, home of the wrong brothers.
Willie Griswold
That's very funny.
Tom Griswold
I like that a lot. Dayton, Ohio.
Josh Arnold
Sure, sure.
Tom Griswold
I'm sticking up room. Yeah, Brian, you got your podcast, I guess you're recording this week with Mr. Caliendo, is that right?
Brian Bates
Yeah, we've got one today and then Frank comes in on Wednesday and we're gonna have him on as well.
Tom Griswold
Willie's working with Frank Caliendo at Nashville in Zany's. Zany's in Nashville. Excuse me.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
And I assume I'll see you because I'm sure Frank will need a ride
Pat Godwin
to do the podcast.
Willie Griswold
I'll see you on Wednesday.
Brian Bates
All right.
Josh Arnold
But you're clearly not invited to do the podcast.
Willie Griswold
Oh, goodness.
Brian Bates
Yeah, we'll make that very clear.
Willie Griswold
No. Oh, no. Not even from him. When I'm with Frank, I'm basically just a diet Dr. Pepper Gatherer. And I'm with him. That's why I'm around. I'm getting Diet Dr. Pepper. I'm replacing sparkling wine water, Mr. Caliendo. That's what he makes me call what
Josh Arnold
happens if you bring Frank a Dr. Pepper. Zero sugar.
Willie Griswold
Oh, he beats me. He beats me in the car.
Brian Bates
Does he do a voice while he does?
Pat Godwin
He does.
Willie Griswold
He's John Madden. He's Charles Barkley. Makes me feel bad. Come on, Willie. I was gonna do a voice. I'm not.
Josh Arnold
This soda's terrible. Smack.
Pat Godwin
You know what?
Willie Griswold
If you're willing to do Charles Barkley on air, you're a braver man than me.
Tom Griswold
Is the sugar free Dr. Pepper?
Josh Arnold
There's two varieties I have not found a zero sugar free that I haven't liked yet.
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah.
Josh Arnold
They all taste really good.
Willie Griswold
You know my thing, right? Cherry Coke, zero sugar. Love a Cherry Coke, zero sugar.
Josh Arnold
I haven't tried it yet. I will.
Willie Griswold
It's a delightful diet side of myself.
Tom Griswold
I love this. We haven't talked to our guests at all. We're doing great.
Brian Bates
Oh, really?
Christy Lee
Asked him to stay. I said, we asked you to stay and then we just ignore him.
Tom Griswold
I'm kidding.
Brian Bates
I know.
Tom Griswold
Brian Bates is our guest.
Josh Arnold
I have a question for you, Brian, if you don't mind. Go ahead. Underneath, you're wearing a ball cap.
Brian Bates
Yep. Yes.
Josh Arnold
Underneath. What are we working with?
Brian Bates
Not a lot.
Josh Arnold
What?
Tom Griswold
I have a lot.
Brian Bates
Yeah. Very similar. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
You have more hair than I do.
Willie Griswold
You got a nice head of hair.
Brian Bates
Well, I was trying to be nice, but
Josh Arnold
you didn't want to make me feel bad.
Willie Griswold
We're not used to that in this.
Josh Arnold
When did you start thinning?
Brian Bates
It's been a very gradual process. I probably started in my 30s and just, you know, just.
Josh Arnold
I didn't see a hint of gray, though.
Brian Bates
No.
Josh Arnold
Thankfully I started graying before I started thinning. Up top.
Brian Bates
Okay.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Brian Bates
So then it was a good thing that you start losing your hair, right?
Josh Arnold
I don't mind it that much. Honestly, I kind of don't.
Brian Bates
Yeah, I. I didn't know this about you because I don't know you that well, but I saw a video you from maybe 20 years ago that you made with Greg Warren, and you have lost a ton of weight.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Back.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I have. I. It's all been. Been calorie. Nobody believes me, but it's all been calorie control and working out.
Brian Bates
Yeah, I don't believe that at all.
Josh Arnold
And a couple of shots losing weight now means nothing.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
So no, this is glp. None, baby.
Tom Griswold
Oh, that's cool. That's cool. Now Brian, you, you do you do your podcast?
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
And again it's Dusty Slay. And who else is on it?
Brian Bates
Aaron Weber.
Tom Griswold
Okay. Do you find it difficult to work with two other people in the same room at the same time? Two talking.
Brian Bates
Yeah, I want to do all the talking myself and.
Tom Griswold
Yeah,
Josh Arnold
What's that like now we have
Brian Bates
a good, we can have a good rapport. I like doing, you know, I enjoy coming to see you guys morning radio because, you know, I know you guys, I on the road, as you guys know as comics, very often they'll have you go do morning radio and they'll send somebody from the club to pick you up to drive you around to the different, you know, stations around town and it's often someone you've never met before and you know, they'll pick you up at 5:30 in the morning. I was in St. Louis and I never met this guy and he, and he was driving me around to do morning radio and I said, can we go through some McDonald's drive thru before we go in? He's like, sure. And the lady on the speaker said, that'll be 8.93. Would you like to round up to $9 for charity? And I said no, which I don't even know why I did that, but I think it's just a bad mood. And then I said to, well, I don't, I said to the guy, besides, I was like, I'm not giving a charity stream. Say what the charity was. And, and I just met this guy. He goes, well, it was probably for the Ronald McDonald House. The reason I know is when my daughter had open heart surgery, she stayed there for some time and then we just sat in the line of silence the rest of the time. And then we got there. She handed me my 7 cents back basically across his face. And we're just like, here, give this to your daughter.
Josh Arnold
Give it to. Yeah, let's eliminate the middleman you just gave.
Brian Bates
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Oh, that's great.
Tom Griswold
Oh wow.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, because why would you just. No,
Brian Bates
it's 7 cents.
Tom Griswold
I've heard a lot of horror stories from comedians that have done other radio shows. Not that, you know, we, we, we certainly have had our terrible moments. Moments. One of my favorites, a friend of mine was doing a show in northern Ohio with the DJ and he was going through some of his stuff and that usually did quite well. And after about the third or fourth segment, he said, hey, am I doing okay? You're not laughing. The guy goes, I don't want to screw up your timing.
Josh Arnold
Well, thanks pal. I appreciate it.
Tom Griswold
Oh, well, in that case, I know
Josh Arnold
what a screw up your time.
Tom Griswold
I certainly appreciate that. Christy Lee, we have time for. I want to squeeze in a couple stories with Brian hanging out.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Josh brought up GLP nuns. Well, GLP1s are actually in the news today because those weight loss medications and high end skin care have led to a new bathroom trend. The mini fridge. Oh. Emma Lewis, marketing manager for Sub Zero and Wolf make a very nice product, told the Guardian the company has seen a tenfold increase in demand for mini fridges over the past two years. She described many fridges as beverage centers, noting they were originally used to chill drinks in an at home bar or in a gym. In your, you know, at home gym. But they're now likely to house face creams, jars of supplements, gut health shots and the injectables.
Josh Arnold
So the injectables need to remain cold.
Christy Lee
I guess I did not know that.
Tom Griswold
And I have a qu. What kind of makeup? I didn't realize.
Josh Arnold
I'll be honest. This is not makeup. But I do occasionally use these.
Christy Lee
The eye patches?
Josh Arnold
Yes. They go under my eyes and I. They are in my refrigerator.
Christy Lee
Yeah, you keep them in the refrigerator.
Tom Griswold
I know. So you can explain your bathroom refrigerator. How do you explain your bathroom air fryer? That.
Josh Arnold
All right. It's because that's pretty funny. My shower sausage.
Willie Griswold
Well, you want it to smell nice.
Christy Lee
Right?
Willie Griswold
When you get out of the shower, the aroma of bacon and sausage keeps you encouraged in the shower.
Christy Lee
Those under eye patches are pretty nice. You should treat yourself some weird.
Tom Griswold
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Josh Arnold
I bet he would. I think I know what Tom's criticism would be. Too slimy.
Christy Lee
They are slimy.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
I thought we had done.
Josh Arnold
It's like putting very cold leeches under garage.
Christy Lee
Exactly.
Willie Griswold
It can be nice.
Tom Griswold
And what do they do?
Josh Arnold
Take bagginess away and darkness and stuff like that?
Tom Griswold
Wow.
Christy Lee
Yeah, it's. It's a treat.
Tom Griswold
And is there other makeup? I don't know enough about makeup.
Christy Lee
I don't have any of my skincare that needs to go in the fridge.
Pat Godwin
Cold cream.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, that naturally. That has to be right in the title, right? Nobody wants warm cream.
Tom Griswold
No, no, not your face.
Willie Griswold
The little girls use this stuff. I help. Finn has a bathroom mini Fridge.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I've seen that.
Pat Godwin
He does.
Christy Lee
He does.
Willie Griswold
Oh, yeah, I keep my beers in there.
Tom Griswold
Yeah,
Josh Arnold
well, she's on OIC Junior, isn't she?
Christy Lee
What does she keep in her mini fridge?
Tom Griswold
Face stuff.
Willie Griswold
She's got, like, some Korean skincare stuff she's into.
Pat Godwin
Got.
Tom Griswold
And then their soda.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay. Yeah, why not?
Tom Griswold
Yeah, I opened it up the other day. I. I didn't even know it was in there. I walked.
Josh Arnold
She's got cold cream soda.
Tom Griswold
That's nice.
Josh Arnold
Mildly amusing.
Tom Griswold
Kind of ties together. But when you were in college, didn't you have a dorm. A dorm fridge?
Christy Lee
Well, yeah, in college, but not. I don't have a fridge in my bathroom. I don't know.
Tom Griswold
Apparently, this. What this? A tenfold in sales.
Josh Arnold
Wow.
Christy Lee
Okay. I think I can walk to the kitchen. Not that far.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. But then. Oh, so you've got your. Whatever this makeup stuff is in your refrigerator.
Christy Lee
But I don't have any makeup that I need to keep in a refrigerator.
Josh Arnold
Where do Ozempic shots are those kind of things? Where do those injectables go?
Willie Griswold
Like, in the fridge?
Josh Arnold
No, I mean your belly or your butt or your arm.
Christy Lee
I don't know.
Josh Arnold
Like, do you store it next to the string in your arm? Okay, so it's not like a thing where you have to be like, if you're in your kitchen, you have to kind of pull your pants.
Tom Griswold
This is a signaling.
Christy Lee
You can put them in your leg,
Tom Griswold
I think, bottom of your arm.
Christy Lee
Yeah. All right.
Tom Griswold
Okay.
Josh Arnold
I think she's putting her eyeball.
Tom Griswold
That is. She's dancing. I see arms flailing and things going like this. Brian Bates. Brian, thanks for stopping by. Once again, the new comedy special is entitled Worried.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
It's out right now. Nateland YouTube channel. And the visits coming soon in person to Chicago, Canton, Ohio, and Dayton, Kentucky. Greater Cincinnati, Cincinnati.
Josh Arnold
And again, sorry to bother you this morning.
Brian Bates
Well, you know, just don't do it again. No, I'm honored and thrilled to be here, and I wish I could stay longer, but I do have to get home, do my own podcast.
Christy Lee
Oh, yeah.
Pat Godwin
Oh, sure, yeah.
Josh Arnold
Go do your fancy little.
Tom Griswold
I just hope you can hope. Hope you can remember all these jokes. I know. Christy, you got to give me the preview. What's coming.
Christy Lee
Coming up, Coming up, we'll talk about airport. Airport, divorce. Finally, we have the new dining experience. We have the cannabis kiosk for your retirement community.
Tom Griswold
That's kind of cool.
Christy Lee
That's going to be popular. And a heavy metal concert in a very unusual situation.
Tom Griswold
Oh, right now it's Money, money, money, time. And, Brian, I know you really have to go, so feel free to get up and take off. I will remind you that American financing is out there and they do mortgages from the bottom. But right now, the big push is refinancing, because the way things have been going with the housing market, almost inexplicably, houses have gone way up in value. So if you've owned your house for 10 years, it's probably worth double what you paid for it. And you can take advantage of that without selling the house. You can grab some of that equity and use it for whatever you want. Maybe you've been building up some credit card debt with prices being the way they are and everything else in the world right now, gasoline, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So whatever you need money for, this may be an opportunity for you to grab some of that equity. Even if you've owned your house for, say, five years, it's probably worth 30 to 40% more. It always depends, obviously, on your particular situation, where you live, et cetera, et cetera. So if you'd like to take advantage of this, you want to talk to the folks once again at American Financing, you'll find them@AmericanFinancing.net by the way, no upfront fees, no pressure. Cost you nothing to finance. Find out what you could save every month. And you can give them a phone call if you want. 866-889-2611 or just visit american financing.net do me a favor, put americanfinancing.net bobandtom and then I'll let them know that we sent you. Once again, no pressure, no upfront fees. In about 10 minutes, they can determine if this might work for you. So grab some of the value of that property that you own, own without having to actually sell the property. Once Again, it's American financing.net NMLS 182334 NMLSConsumerAccess.org Average savings based on borrowers who save over $200.
Josh Arnold
Hey, it's the Bob and Tom Show. We are live from the O'Reilly Auto Part Studios. Wild Christy Lee is at the news desk.
Tom Griswold
I tease him every now and then. Come on.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah.
Tom Griswold
Only way to wake them up. Hey, the Beatles are coming.
Josh Arnold
There's Pat Godwin at the NHTSA sports desk. It's Willie G. Hey, man, Ace Cosby's there. Hello, Willie. Are you gonna be with us for a few days?
Willie Griswold
Yeah, man, I'm here every day except for Thursday, I think.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Willie Griswold
Actually, I might Drive back after the show and see you guys Thursday morning. Boy on a bunch of coffee. We'll see what happens.
Tom Griswold
Why would you do that? I would not.
Josh Arnold
Advice. I'm Josh. Arnold. There's Tom.
Tom Griswold
Well, thank you very much. Let's see now, where were we? Oh, you know what we forgot to do?
Christy Lee
What?
Tom Griswold
We forgot today in History.
Willie Griswold
No, we didn't.
Pat Godwin
We didn't.
Willie Griswold
20 variations.
Tom Griswold
We did our. Our new feature.
Josh Arnold
Pat said we're doomed to repeat.
Tom Griswold
We did our new feature the Weekend in History.
Christy Lee
Yeah, we sure did.
Josh Arnold
Oh, of course.
Tom Griswold
Today is August 3rd.
Josh Arnold
Happy birthday to my niece Eden, who's one of the funniest and most interesting people I know.
Tom Griswold
Great name.
Christy Lee
How old is she?
Josh Arnold
I don't know. No, she's 10. Because she's excited about the double digits.
Christy Lee
Oh, that's cool.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, that's so fun.
Tom Griswold
Well, that's great. Let's see. Okay, now, happy birthday. If we're gonna start with birthdays, I gotta back up here because I just had important events, but. Oh, this isn't important. Elisha Otis, one of my heroes.
Christy Lee
Oh, the elevator dude.
Tom Griswold
The elevator dude. He invented the safety device that prevents elevators from falling. He was born in 1811.
Josh Arnold
Well, then Otis elevators is a misnomer.
Christy Lee
So he didn't envelop develop an elevator.
Josh Arnold
It's actually the Otis safety device that keeps the elevator.
Tom Griswold
No, but then, then he would move on to develop the whole elevator.
Josh Arnold
You're telling me the safety device was developed before an elevator was. How'd they know they needed a safety device?
Tom Griswold
Because they were called cable caskets prior to.
Josh Arnold
I see.
Tom Griswold
Mr. Otis.
Josh Arnold
This is why that guy.
Tom Griswold
I'll tell you what, Mr. Otis. A lot of stories.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah, yeah. Some. Some. Some floors.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Willie Griswold
Was his. Was his career consistent? Did his career have a lot of. Trying to help you out over here. It is. All right.
Josh Arnold
Okay, who do you guys prefer? Otis the elevator guy or Otis Spunk Meyer?
Christy Lee
Oh, he makes a muffin, doesn't he?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. Muffins, cookies.
Tom Griswold
I liked Otis from the Andy Griffith Show.
Josh Arnold
Okay. That's your favorite Otis? My favorite Otis is from Milo and Otis.
Christy Lee
Oh, that's Sweet.
Tom Griswold
Born in 1926. Tony Bennett. No, no, no. Just died a couple years ago.
Christy Lee
That's why I thought.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. He sang forever though, didn't he?
Christy Lee
Sure did.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. I liked his voice.
Tom Griswold
Left his heart in San Francisco, his teeth in Miami, his knees at a hospital in Brooklyn. Lived a long life.
Pat Godwin
Chicago.
Josh Arnold
He did a lot of those duets, didn't he?
Christy Lee
Yeah, Lady Gaga. That was beautiful.
Tom Griswold
I saw him in concert. And it was pretty cool because he did not use a microphone.
Christy Lee
What?
Josh Arnold
Oh, I feel bad for the people in the back row.
Tom Griswold
It was a. It was a sort of. Sort of a nightclub situation and.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay. Cool. Small venue.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, Relatively. It wasn't too long ago. Let's see. Happy birthday Martin Sheen, father of Emilio President Judd Bartlett.
Christy Lee
Very funny. And Grayson Frankie.
Pat Godwin
Yeah, he is funny.
Christy Lee
He's a gay gentleman.
Pat Godwin
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
What's this now?
Christy Lee
He plays a gay gentleman in Grayson Frank Frankie.
Tom Griswold
I did not see that.
Christy Lee
Oh, it's so funny.
Willie Griswold
It's very funny.
Christy Lee
It's very funny.
Tom Griswold
Happy birthday, Martha Stewart. I bet. I bet she doesn't get a lot of parties thrown for her.
Christy Lee
I wouldn't throw a party for her.
Tom Griswold
Too much pressure.
Christy Lee
No joke. Talk about judgy.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Do you ever see those license plates she made when she was in prison?
Christy Lee
I did not.
Josh Arnold
Weren't they nice?
Tom Griswold
Well done. They were well done. See? Happy. But you know this guy, John landis, born in 1950, made the famous Thriller video with Michael Jackson.
Josh Arnold
Yes.
Tom Griswold
Directed Animal House, right?
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. And Trading Places and American Werewolf in London.
Tom Griswold
Now here's some. This is interesting. 1979, the birth date of Evangeline Lilly from Lost. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
She's the wasp in the Marvel Universe. Universe.
Willie Griswold
Yeah. Oh, opposite Ant Man, Paul Rudd.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, she's terrific. I remember in Lost. So she's still out there working.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
Okay. And then lastly, happy birthday, Ryan Lochte. Remember this guy?
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah. Who like pretended to
Christy Lee
gas station or something in Brazil.
Tom Griswold
Jesse Smollett. OG. But on this date in. In 1492.
Willie Griswold
Oh, the ocean blue.
Tom Griswold
Christopher Columbus set sail from Spain looking for the Indies, man. Whoops. Didn't find it. On this date in 1900, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company was founded. What an odd combination, making condoms. And
Josh Arnold
the condoms are good. The tread's a little deep.
Tom Griswold
It's treaded for her pleasure.
Brian Bates
Yes.
Tom Griswold
1936, Jesse Owens, the great sprinter, won the 100 yard, hundred yard yard dash at the Berlin Olympics.
Josh Arnold
Remember when Cleavon Little says he's going to do his impression of Jesse Owens and Blazing Saddles?
Tom Griswold
That kind of the comedy of course, predates. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The old west was way before so famously proving Hitler wrong. So no, no need for the war. Okay, well, let's See now. In 1958, the Billboard Hot 100 was founded which inspired that magazine, Sexy Hundred Year Old Grannies.
Josh Arnold
Oh, that kind of Hot 100. I had no idea.
Willie Griswold
Yeah, they have a center fold, but you fold it down. That's a visual Joke about kind of saggy ladies. Didn't really work great, but.
Josh Arnold
Well, all center folds sort of do fold down. You have to turn.
Willie Griswold
You know what?
Tom Griswold
No, no, I think now I see that.
Josh Arnold
No, no, you can't. I know he's your son and you want to do right by him. There's no defense.
Tom Griswold
No, it's a valid joke. I don't want him to save me.
Willie Griswold
That's going to make it worse.
Tom Griswold
It's a valid joke.
Josh Arnold
Centerfolds do fold down.
Willie Griswold
Do that. I haven't done a lot of analog.
Tom Griswold
You got to pick up the magazine and go like this, though. Okay, never mind.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, down.
Tom Griswold
And the most important thing on this date or the second most important. Alan Sherman Thurman. No, it's not releases. Hello, Mudda. Hello, Father.
Josh Arnold
I am. This smells fishy, doesn't it? I feel like this every three weeks. He's really. He releases that song.
Christy Lee
Yeah, he does.
Pat Godwin
There's always some hell.
Willie Griswold
It was mixed and mastered. On a certain day, it's released on this day. Musicians came in this. The publishing rights were developed.
Pat Godwin
It was number one.
Josh Arnold
I honestly. When it would come on and the. My parents were always listening to the oldies station when that would come on, I loved it.
Pat Godwin
Oh, it's terrific.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. For me, it's the dog, but I
Willie Griswold
think of it as the parody dog food commercial. The K9 Advantix, when I was a kid, that was on all the time.
Pat Godwin
Oh, really?
Josh Arnold
And they used that?
Tom Griswold
Yeah. Yeah. That's a class piece of classical music.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, it's a ballet.
Tom Griswold
I think this is interesting.
Christy Lee
Yeah, it is a ballet. You're right.
Tom Griswold
The macarena hit number one, and it would stay in the Billboard chart for 60 weeks beginning in 1996. On this date, when it hit number number one.
Josh Arnold
It's not terrible.
Willie Griswold
It's fun.
Christy Lee
If you can remember how to do it, it's. If you don't do that, you forget.
Tom Griswold
It is pretty simple, but I'll play a little bit of it for you. If you're not familiar with it, the. Now, do you know what the words are about?
Christy Lee
I have no idea.
Tom Griswold
Okay, this is gonna.
Pat Godwin
What are they about?
Christy Lee
What is it about?
Tom Griswold
It's. According to this news account, the song Macarena by the Spanish duo Los Del Rio is much less innocent than its catchy dance would suggest. The original Spanish lyrics tell the story of a young woman named Macarena whose boyfriend, Vittorino, has been drafted into the army. While he's gone, she cheats on with two of his friends.
Josh Arnold
Oh, that hussy.
Christy Lee
Yeah.
Tom Griswold
The chorus encourages her not to worry and just to enjoy yourself. The lyrics translate, give your body joy, Macarena, because your body is made for pleasure and good things.
Willie Griswold
Wow.
Josh Arnold
It's the Akuna matata for sluts.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. No one.
Christy Lee
That's.
Tom Griswold
That's the beauty of having it in foreign language.
Christy Lee
Yeah. Cuz nobody knew that.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. I mean, you know what labomba is about.
Christy Lee
Grandma may not dance now.
Tom Griswold
Yeah. A butt fun. Whoa, that was close.
Josh Arnold
I'm coming, Elizabeth. I thought we were going down on that one.
Christy Lee
Fun.
Pat Godwin
I heard a K in my head.
Willie Griswold
See, I don't need that guy coming to the rescue for the centerfold thing. Right. I don't need butt fun defending me over here.
Brian Bates
Oh, that.
Tom Griswold
And that's. That's today. Christy Lee, what have you got?
Willie Griswold
Over.
Christy Lee
A practice known as the airport divorce is helping couples travel together better.
Tom Griswold
Oh.
Christy Lee
An airport divorce refers to couples who, upon arriving at the airport, go their separate ways to grab snacks, coffee.
Tom Griswold
They're. They're. They're starting too late.
Christy Lee
Reading, too.
Josh Arnold
I think you should drive.
Tom Griswold
I mean, I was telling Kelly I think I should go separately.
Christy Lee
You mean actually she somehow got you
Josh Arnold
to think that was your idea?
Tom Griswold
Yes.
Christy Lee
She's a genius.
Willie Griswold
Oh, I do that every time when I go with you guys. I always show up late so I don't have to go through with you. It's a nightmare going through with you.
Josh Arnold
Oh, I thought he said. I bet he's very polite during nts.
Tom Griswold
I just. Yeah, it just. I just. I like to get there two hours early.
Josh Arnold
Ah.
Willie Griswold
Post tsa, he abandons the whole family, gets a coffee, gets his shoe shined, and then while we're boarding, he walks in very last second, gets in B31. He's right there in line.
Josh Arnold
I get why that stresses you out, but that's a baller move.
Willie Griswold
It's hilarious.
Tom Griswold
But I like to be at the airport very early and I drive her nuts.
Josh Arnold
You're right, though. This is mild. You've gone to the airport together. When you get there, you kind of go your separate ways.
Christy Lee
Some couples even go as far as to separate for the entirety of their flight before meeting backup at baggage claim.
Josh Arnold
Why not?
Christy Lee
According to the reviews of hundreds of comments posted by by Fay Travel Insurance, over a quarter of travelers already, quote, unquote, divorce at the airport or support doing so, while a little over 15% said they enjoy sticking together. So are you proposing that you would drive separate to the airport but fly the same flight?
Tom Griswold
Well, as Josh put it, I'm not necessarily proposing
Christy Lee
or do you want to just take separate flights? Because there was a time when you would fly separately.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, no, it's just I. I like to get there super early and. And I'm just annoying in general.
Josh Arnold
No, you just have. Everybody's got their airport behavior, and I think it's great that people can just go do now.
Tom Griswold
I got there I. A couple last year, I was flying back by myself, and I got to the airport two hours early, and unbeknownst to me, after sitting, I got to the gate and this is great. Sat down, started reading, and then with about five minutes for the plane was gonna take off, I realized they changed the gate. Oh, yeah. Thanks. Because you could airport announcements, but you can never hear them.
Christy Lee
They're so garbled.
Josh Arnold
They're easy to tune out.
Tom Griswold
And there are too many going on at the same time, and the gates are all too close. But, I mean, I'd much rather be annoyed by complete strangers than by my spouse. Yeah, that's the key there.
Josh Arnold
You don't have to spend a week at Disney with those people.
Christy Lee
Interesting. A steakhouse in South Florida is hosting what they're calling a new nude dining experience. The Class Suare Steakhouse in Hollywood. That's. Hollywood, Florida hosted its first event in July, with the second event planned for tonight. The chef, owner Marad Ali, and local pervert told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that he created the event as a, quote, respectful, judgment free way for strangers to eat together unclad and try something fun and new. The event costs 150 for women, 250 for men.
Willie Griswold
Oh, so he is a local pervert.
Josh Arnold
Yeah. Not fair at all.
Tom Griswold
No, but he doesn't want it to be a sausage fest. So give the ladies a break. Can you imagine the pervs that are showing up? I'll have what she's having.
Christy Lee
Dining in the Buffett. A restaurant is legal in Hollywood, Florida, if that dinner stays private and only the guests are undressed.
Josh Arnold
Oh, okay. Your servers or not.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, well, that'd be.
Josh Arnold
And the chefs don't need to wear two hair nets, so that's.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, yeah. You don't want the waiter coming up.
Josh Arnold
May I tell you the specials? My eyes are up here.
Christy Lee
How would you guys feel if your wife or girlfriend came home that, like, tonight and said, hey, Josh, we're going out to dinner tonight. Guess where we're going? And I would see to this new dining experience. Would you go?
Josh Arnold
Look, I'm the wrong person to use in this scenario because I'm all. As soon as, hey, we're going out to dinner tonight. I'm immediately annoyed.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, that ain't happening.
Willie Griswold
Well, and I don't even like to go to hibachi unless you have the whole table. When you have, like, the random two people there with you. So now they're naked as well. That seems odd.
Christy Lee
Okay.
Josh Arnold
I don't know that I would be. No, I wouldn't enjoy it. I wouldn't be. It would be too, too weird.
Willie Griswold
Also, it's Florida in August. That's sweaty, man. Sweaty place to be naked. Other people eating naked is fun, though. Like, getting takeout at home, doing, like, a little personal super bowl party. Having nachos, totally naked.
Christy Lee
I don't think I've ever.
Willie Griswold
Does anyone relate to this at all? I kept going. And no one's eyes related to this.
Pat Godwin
I was trying to think him through
Josh Arnold
it, but I didn't like it that much.
Christy Lee
I don't think I've ever eaten naked.
Willie Griswold
I have. I did yesterday.
Josh Arnold
I know. I keep it up. If it's something you enjoy, you got to do it.
Tom Griswold
Just like you and you were at Golden Corral.
Willie Griswold
I was not at Golden Corral, Dennis. I was at Red Lobster.
Tom Griswold
Excuse me.
Willie Griswold
I like to eat a lot of biscuits this time of year.
Josh Arnold
How loud are the booths at this nude restaurant? Just people having to slide and shimmy.
Christy Lee
Oh, I hope you have a nice seat cover.
Josh Arnold
Don't you hate those half moon booths where you're in the middle? Like, if I have to pee one side, I have to. Everybody has to get out.
Willie Griswold
Like Catholic mass. There's a lot of standing and sitting going on that stuff.
Tom Griswold
Yeah, No, I wouldn't want to. I wouldn't enjoy it.
Christy Lee
No, I would. There's no way.
Willie Griswold
Do you put your napkin on your lap?
Josh Arnold
Yes.
Christy Lee
Yes.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, yeah. Exactly.
Christy Lee
You don't want to drop some hot food in your lap, do you?
Willie Griswold
I know, but the whole thing is being naked, so then it feels right.
Tom Griswold
Yeah.
Christy Lee
You can't see under the table.
Tom Griswold
Ever cook bacon naked?
Willie Griswold
No.
Pat Godwin
No.
Willie Griswold
Because you warned me about that.
Tom Griswold
That's a bad idea. Saying it scarred for life.
Josh Arnold
I made waffles naked. The people at the Holiday Inn Express were not happy.
Willie Griswold
Thank you, buddy. Thank you very much.
Josh Arnold
I was hoping you're going there. I love that.
Tom Griswold

Christy Lee
Well, hi.
Josh Arnold
Pat Godwin's at the Music Centaur. Hey, Josh, there's Willie G at the NHTSA sports desk. Hey, man, Ace Cosby's there. Hey, I'm Josh Arnold. There's Tom.
Tom Griswold
Thank you very much. By the way, tomorrow a special guest, Jim the Shark Driver dryer.
Christy Lee
Oh boy, is he swimming again.
Tom Griswold
He's gonna tow 250 cannonballs. Swimming 22 miles from offshore in Lake Michigan.
Josh Arnold
Oh my gosh, why?
Tom Griswold
Remember we talked to him a bunch a few years ago?
Josh Arnold
Remember that?
Christy Lee
Yeah, I do.
Tom Griswold
He swam across Lake Michigan. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cool stuff. He's gonna be stopping by, so that'll be fun. Wow, thanks again to Brian Bates, comedian. Brian stopped by old Bates. He's got a bunch of stuff going on with his buddy. You'll find him on Nate Land, the Nate Bargazzi YouTube channel with his new comedy special called Worried Now. We were just talking about, what was it? The nude dining experience. That's tonight. Where is it? Miami.
Christy Lee
Hollywood, Florida. Just north of Miami.
Pat Godwin
Hollywood swinging.
Tom Griswold
And it's an all nude dining experience except the waiters and waitresses and the cooks and everybody. Right?
Christy Lee
They have to be clothed. State law. It's state law.
Tom Griswold
I wonder if, if the menu is altered because people are all going to be naked.
Christy Lee
They make fun.
Tom Griswold
Like, I mean, you don't want to get. I'm not going to have the chocolate lava cake. It looks too much like that guy's butt.
Christy Lee
Oh, God.
Willie Griswold
I thought you're going with like crab or something.
Pat Godwin
Clam chowder, like a market price or.
Christy Lee
We were going to joke about it, like, do you want crab?
Josh Arnold
Crabs instead an unwiped butt.
Pat Godwin
That's how he came into the restaurant.
Tom Griswold
I mean, you might lose your appetite. I'm just.
Josh Arnold
By the way, the whole staff. There is a member of the staff that is not dressed. I don't know if you guys saw the Mater d picks, but they're quite something.
Tom Griswold
Those are the. That's what he recommends that you eat. You see that?
Pat Godwin
Let alone the headwater. You see what he does?
Christy Lee
We didn't get one song out of that today.
Pat Godwin
Yeah. Rest of my.
Tom Griswold
Oh, you have one, don't you?
Pat Godwin
Yeah, I have a bunch. Every day is a new song. You know me always thinking, always right.
Tom Griswold
What?
Josh Arnold
Every day is a new song.
Pat Godwin
Oh, what can I do? This is new. It could be sloppy, it could be fun, could be tight. You never know. Last week I saw the super bowl of Gaelic football. Does anybody know what Gaelic football is?
Christy Lee
I do not.
Pat Godwin
It's crazy.
Tom Griswold
Crazy.
Pat Godwin
Okay, you go every three steps. You got a dribble and. Or a volleyball, kind of a. Of a punch. It's a. It's a mixture of actual soccer and a little bit of rugby. You can tackle, but with only like one side of your body. It's insane. And every county in Ireland has their team. And Mayo finally won. They hadn't won since 1951.
Josh Arnold
It was Mayo County.
Pat Godwin
Mayo County. It was the curse of Mayo. And I was just fascinated by this because I had never heard of it before either.
Josh Arnold
And I loved it.
Pat Godwin
And I was telling Alan Johnson, who works with us, okay, about this, and he goes to me, jesus, man, you loved it. Just how Irish are you? And I thought that was an interesting concept for a song. So how Irish are you exactly? People ask my ethnicity I tell them I am Irish as Irish can be I like the Pogues. I like you too. Would you like to have a little Irish in you? How Irish am I? Well, let me think. I got the gift of gab I like to drink whiskey in the jar is my jam that's how Irish I am that's how Irish I am I play guitar in an Irish bar I put Guinness on my lucky charms I eat corned beef while I river dance I hate England I hate France I like a red headed girl who tells dirty jokes As a shamrock tattoo curses and smokes I like my stew with potatoes and lamb that's how Irish I am oh, Irish I am an Irish Ib Even though I Was born in Wilkesbury I like to laugh, sing and shout I like beer, oh, I like stout I spend money like a sailor on leave I see trouble I roll up my sleeves I leave a party never say goodbye that's how Irish am I Hand me that shit. Shepherd's pie Spent a night in jail Too many black and tans that's how Irish I am that's how Irish I am that was love, Danny Boy.
Tom Griswold
That's nice. I like that. That's very nice.
Christy Lee
I do love that.
Tom Griswold
The Gaelic football thing, that's insane.
Josh Arnold
Weird.
Christy Lee
And that's a real thing?
Pat Godwin
It's a real thing. I. I'm. It's the only. I've never heard of it. They have hurling too, because I was telling Josh about this, which I'd never heard of that. That sport, but I. Gaelic football is just fast.
Tom Griswold
What are you hurling?
Pat Godwin
I don't know. Josh, do you know the sport?
Josh Arnold
No, no.
Willie Griswold
Guinness, usually.
Tom Griswold
Okay. Christy Lee is over there at the Bob and Tom news desk. What else you got?
Christy Lee
Senior residents at some independent living communities will soon have access to on site marijuana vending machines. A retailer known as Life Is Chill, along with the cannabis technology company Love Box Bud, announced that the first cannabis kiosk is coming to the Sun Lakes Country Club in Chandler, Arizona, which has about 2,000 residents. The device will allow you to easily buy marijuana products without having to travel to dispensaries.
Josh Arnold
I tried some of this retirement home weed. I had the Acapulco Golden Girls.
Tom Griswold
They're old.
Christy Lee
It will also be available more than 12,000 other residents. I had the purple hair communities so
Tom Griswold
that it's like a vending machine. You just walk up and.
Christy Lee
They don't have to worry about people being under 21 there, do they?
Tom Griswold
No, but I mean, stoned and old. How does this work again? Hey, Gertie.
Willie Griswold
Hey.
Christy Lee
These folks, they started it. What are you talking about?
Tom Griswold
Do you have any edibles? That's look like Werther's. Where do I get the jazz cigarettes? Wow. Are there other places where they have marijuana vending machines?
Willie Griswold
Yeah, we've talked about it before. There's a place in Colorado, I think it was maybe in the lobby of a dispensary. They had it, but they. You got. They got to make sure they got to check id, all that stuff.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, gotcha.
Willie Griswold
They're not just in the mall.
Tom Griswold
I was in a hotel in North Carolina where they had a champagne vending machine.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I've seen those.
Pat Godwin
And why did you put your license in? How does that work?
Tom Griswold
I Don't know. I didn't get any. I just remember it was right there in the lobby.
Christy Lee
That's interesting.
Tom Griswold
I'm sure that I. I don't know if you have to. How would that work?
Josh Arnold
I saw one where they had to show the ID at the counter at the hotel check in place.
Tom Griswold
Oh, so you have to walk and get some kind of a chit, if you will.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I don't. And then I didn't know.
Brian Bates
Give or take.
Pat Godwin
He.
Willie Griswold
Careful.
Christy Lee
Real quick. Spider Man, Brand new day made box office history in its first weekend. The second biggest North American opening ever with $355 million in ticket sales.
Josh Arnold
Impressive.
Christy Lee
Very impressive. Yeah.
Josh Arnold
By. By everything, all accounts, very good.
Christy Lee
Yeah, it's great. Audience reviews. Yeah.
Tom Griswold
How does it differ from the other 50 of these they've made?
Josh Arnold
It doesn't, but it's still apparently quite.
Willie Griswold
This is the iteration from the MCU which was started with Iron man and that Hulk with Ed Norton, the new Marvel. This is. This was.
Josh Arnold
Give it a rest.
Tom Griswold
I know.
Willie Griswold
I'm trying to explain it to an old man. I don't know how to do it.
Tom Griswold
I went to see the animated one and I would say it was the worst movie I've seen in 20 years.
Willie Griswold
That's a lovely movie. It's just not for you. And you should be locked in. In a room somewhere so you can't ruin things that I like.
Christy Lee
On that note.
Tom Griswold
On that note. Hey, thanks for joining us. These are the O'Reilly Auto Parts Studios. This is the Bob and Tom Show. Thanks for listening to the Bob and Tom show this morning even though we're not too much to look at. You can also watch the show on our YouTube channel.
