Bobby Bones
This is a podcast called 25 Whistles. Talking sports. And they all wear a whistle. Yeah, it's stupid, but what did you expect? It's a podcast called 25 Whistles. 25 Whistles. Welcome, Eddie. Thank you. I was on YouTube yesterday, and I watched a collection of commercials that don't hold up. And so I didn't even want to send this to Kevin this morning because I had Kevin put them in. I just didn't want it to be wasted on anybody. But I needed somebody to do producer stuff. So, Eddie, you're going to be the one to experience these with me.
H
Okay?
J
All right.
Bobby Bones
These are commercials from back in the day that were legitimate commercials that they thought it was okay to run these commercials.
H
Oh, no.
Bobby Bones
And some of them, it's only okay because, for example, this first commercial is about aids.
H
Oh, my gosh. I guess it's something they had to talk about.
Bobby Bones
No, but it's different. Before aids, the epidemic AIDS was this hit it. I was overweight and looked terrible, but AIDS helped me lose 46 pounds. The AIDS diet plan helped me lose 28 pounds. AIDS helps control your appetite. So you lose weight, yet AIDS lets you taste, chew, and enjoy. And the appetite suppressant in AIDS is not a stimulant. AIDS helped me to lose 18 pounds, and it doesn't contain anything to make me nervous. Question, why take diet pills when you can enjoy aids? AIDS helps you lose weight without making you jittery. So it's spelled A, Y, D, S. Okay.
H
They're not talking about the same aids. That is crazy.
Bobby Bones
That was a popular appetite suppressant candy from the 70s and 80s. Ayds. I'm sure it was so stimulant heavy, because that used to be what a diet pill was. We'll just stimulate the crap out of you.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And it's basically like those bumblebee things at the gas station now.
Eddie
Oh, yeah, yeah.
H
The yellow jackets.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, whatever those are. Yeah, yeah. I never actually bought those, but yeah. How about that, huh? I lost weight with aids.
H
It took me a while to realize that they're not talking about the same aids.
J
This.
Bobby Bones
This one here. I watched this one. I laughed out loud. So this is America's favorite oriental food, La Choy.
H
Oh, my gosh.
Bobby Bones
And so while they're still around, by the way, while they're eating this, they're. They go from being like white people around the table and they just pop into. They turn into Asian people.
Sam J
No.
Bobby Bones
So they go white to Asian. It's. I'm talking full. Full works. So I watched it. So I don't know what it's going to sound like by itself. Hit that mic.
F
La Choy.
Bobby Bones
Kung food theater. La Choy for dinner.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
America's favorite brand of oriental food. Mine too.
Eddie
Oh, boy.
Ari Chambers
Oh, boy.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Oh, is this not that one? Intruders not wild.
Eddie
No, this is a different one. Yeah, a different oriental food. That just hit me too.
Bobby Bones
The other one was so visual. Then that's why I wondered. They were eating it and all of a sudden they would just turn into Asian people.
J
Yeah.
H
What's happening here?
Bobby Bones
Okay, so, yeah, so what is this?
Eddie
Yeah, so this is. Kung fu fighters are like breaking into a house. But he's got lachoi in his system, so he's all like, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Bobby Bones
Let me hear this thing different. Go ahead. I'm eating La choy. By the way, I invited the neighbors to dinner, then cook more lachoy. I think they've worked up an appetite. Lachoy, America's favorite.
H
This is crazy.
Eddie
So he turned into like a black belt because he was eating lachoi.
H
What a different time.
Bobby Bones
And it's not that long ago.
H
No, not at all.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so here's Bill Cosby.
H
Oh, boy.
Bobby Bones
Doing an anti drug commercial. He's sitting on the couch on the set of the Cosby show in his sweater. Here you go.
F
This is Bill Cosby. Now that everybody has told you about the dangers of doing drugs, I'd like to tell you about some of the benefits. Just imagine yourself unconscious. Making a visit to a hospital emergency room. Weeks in rehabilitation centers, Nights in overcrowded prisons, Spending more money than you can afford, ruining your health, hurting your parents, losing your loved ones. And most of all, destroying yourself. Remember what I say about doing drugs? I think you can say no as
Bobby Bones
he's simultaneously drugging people.
H
Dude, that's what's eerie about that clip.
Bobby Bones
Especially the beginning part. Might just play the beginning again.
F
This is Bill Cosby. Now that everybody has told you about the dangers of doing drugs, I'd like to tell you about some of the benefits. Just imagine yourself unconscious. Making a visit to a hospital emergency.
Bobby Bones
Imagine yourself unconscious.
H
Cuz that was his thing.
Bobby Bones
That was his thing.
Eddie
That's crazy.
H
Mm, dude, that one makes me feel sick.
Bobby Bones
This one is wild. And we had to bleep out the R word.
H
Oh, this was.
Bobby Bones
Would run on television. Hit it. Today, being means leading a full life.
F
People go to work or school just like their neighbors.
H
And Come back to a real home.
Bobby Bones
A supervised home. Right in the neighborhood where they belong. Being never stopped anyone from being a good neighbor.
H
I've actually seen that one.
Bobby Bones
No, I know. It's crazy. It's crazy.
H
What is happening?
Eddie
Being a good neighbor.
Bobby Bones
That's wild. Okay, I have a few more. I'm watching this on YouTube yesterday. There's some I couldn't even put in here. Oh, I'm sure there was one. It rhymes. It was a food brand, a type of food. And it rhymes with maggots.
H
Okay, F. Got it.
Bobby Bones
And he kept saying it over and over when you eat. And it obviously like aids. It just.
H
Yeah, it's completely different. But you just. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Everything about it felt wrong.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Hit number five. This is your. You and your Johnson commercial. This is Johnson outboards boats.
H
Ah, the boat motor.
Bobby Bones
You've got your sunrise. You caught a prize. You, you're making your Johnson. Party nights, summer whites. You, your friends and your Johnson. Rooster tails, water trails. You, your kids and your john. Saturday nights, distant lights. You, your girl and your Johnson. You and your Johnson. A way of Life for over 50 years.
H
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey. Kind of a jam.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. You, your friends and your Johnson.
Eddie
It's catchy.
Bobby Bones
Think that was before Johnson really met penis.
H
It was it? Or was that the start of it?
Bobby Bones
No, no. Big Johnson. Remember the shirts? Big Johnson.
H
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember that had shirts that said
Eddie
Big Johnson on it.
Bobby Bones
Everybody wore them.
H
People wore them to school.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Was this like a joke thing?
Bobby Bones
Yes, that there was the insinuation on what it meant. So it meant that, but they kind of used a different graphic. But it was no fear. Big Johnson, Massimo. All in that era before you guys a little bit.
Eddie
Got you, got you.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Big Johnson shirts were popular.
H
Did you have one of those? No, I never did one.
Bobby Bones
I felt uncomfortable because what we're gonna wear. Youth group at church.
H
Yeah, right.
Bobby Bones
I'm not gonna wear my Let go, let God shirt the day before. I wear a Big Johnson shirt. So I felt uncomfortable with that. And then also they were expensive.
H
And there was a type of dude that wore that shirt.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
H
And it wasn't me.
Eddie
Wait, what was that dude kind of like you?
F
What?
Eddie
Cool.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I would say like you. Jock, kinda cool guy.
Eddie
Yeah.
H
Not the little skinny Mexican dude.
J
Okay.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Here is an O.J. simpson commercial for Hertz. Just straightforward. Here you go. Wow, Jay.
Eddie
Some guys are sure in a hurry to get to the airport.
Bobby Bones
Guess he doesn't know about Hertz.
H
New instant return.
Bobby Bones
But Hertz, you don't have to rush
H
to return your car because now Hertz
Bobby Bones
gives you your receipt Right.
Sam J
At your car.
Eddie
So you have everything you need to do your expense report.
Popsicle Ad Voice
I'll have your receipt right away.
Bobby Bones
It's too bad he didn't know about Hertz. Instant return. OJ Was so lovable.
H
He was.
Bobby Bones
And he was a star until the murders.
H
Yeah. I mean, I think that's why it was so shocking when you saw the chase on TV. You're like, O.J.
Bobby Bones
kevin probably don't. Doesn't remember it because I was in my big Johnson shirt while watching.
H
Of course, you were taking your AIDS supplement.
Eddie
Yeah, I was probably like four. So. Yeah, I don't.
Bobby Bones
And here's one that's crazy. So this is at NASA commercial. And so this is before the Challenger crashed, but the teacher that was in.
H
Krista McCullough. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Christa McAuliffe, right?
H
Is that right?
Eddie
Yeah.
H
Krista McAuliffe.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's right. How'd you know that?
H
Dude? Some of those memories just. Those are core memories in my head.
Bobby Bones
So she's in this commercial, right?
Eddie
It's a promo. It's like a local station in Massachusetts, I believe.
H
Here you go.
Bobby Bones
5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We have ignition.
H
And lift off.
Bobby Bones
It's beautiful.
H
The winner, the teacher who will be going into space.
Bobby Bones
Christa McAuliffe. Share the excitement as New England's own Christa McAuliffe gets ready to make her dream come true. The space lessons are very simple.
Sam J
We came up with the field trip in space.
Bobby Bones
Teacher in space. A one hour special. Monday night at 8 on WBC TV4. The station new England turns to eerie.
H
That is eerie. And I think that that's kind of why it was so impactful to us, because there was a lot of promotion leading up to the. This, the journey or whatever, the expedition. Because they kept pushing it. Yeah. There's a teacher going up to space. The first teacher ever. She's not an astronaut. She just won a competition. Like, so cool. Then that happened.
Bobby Bones
Then that happened. That's a moment before you guys. I was really young, so you had to be young.
H
I was young, yeah. But I mean, they showed it.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. No, I remember at school not to show the explosion. To show.
H
No, to show the launch.
Bobby Bones
The launch with the teacher who. That and the OJ Thing were like two early on in life. Like crazy things that happened in the news that just out of nowhere happened and then took over.
H
Yeah. And then for kids too, that. I mean, we didn't watch the news growing up. Like, that's what my dad did my what? My dad watched news, but when that happened, we were glued to the tv.
Bobby Bones
Whenever I think about moments like that, news events that happened that then took over popular culture. Now 911 is the biggest one because that was a crazy news story. But if we take out like tragic terroristic or weather events, like the Will Smith slap, when he slapped Chris Rock out of nowhere, freaking crazy. Within 15 minutes, everybody's talking about it.
H
Did you see that live?
Bobby Bones
No, but I saw it on social media like 10 seconds after it happened.
H
Basically immediately.
Bobby Bones
Kobe Bryant dying in the helicopter crash.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
That was a crazy one. That. Out of nowhere.
Carrie Brownstein
Wait, what?
Bobby Bones
And then was everywhere.
H
I remember I was going to your house for something and I got there
Bobby Bones
and you're like, dude, so Brian died.
H
Oh, Brian died.
Eddie
I'm like, yeah, I remember. Yeah. I was having breakfast for my mom's birthday. That's how I remember too. Every year till my mom's birthday, we were like, what? In la, we're having breakfast too. It's crazy.
Bobby Bones
I remember I made a list of these things, like random things in the news that happened that everybody talked about for days. The Coldplay kiss cam. That was from a couple years ago.
H
That was crazy.
Bobby Bones
That's from last year.
Eddie
Last year, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Random. And then just took over. Like that was something that went viral that then turned into news. Because there are a lot of things that go viral that you never even follow up on. But this. They hid.
Eddie
He got.
Bobby Bones
They got fired. It just kept. Kept on. It kept on. So that one was one. Remember Mike? And you'll remember this because I wasn't watching it live. But whenever they confused La La Land and Moonlight for Best Picture.
J
Oh, yeah. And they had to come back on
Bobby Bones
and say, nope, they read the wrong. Was it like movie or the Best Picture? Best Picture.
H
Yeah, the big award.
Bobby Bones
They read the wrong one and it was Moonlight.
H
So along those lines, was the Steve Harvey one in there too?
Bobby Bones
The Miss America.
J
Big deal.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, and that one's funny. I would just think the other one's much bigger because it was with a bunch of famous people and it was
J
movies, and they're already on stage accepting the award.
H
Oh, that's right. They did accept it. And they were. Weren't they speaking already?
J
Yeah, they were like, we didn't win turns out. And were like, moonlight, come on up.
H
And La Land is a great movie.
Bobby Bones
That is hardcore rough sports wise. Demar Hamlin.
Eddie
Yeah, dude.
Bobby Bones
Dude, that was when he collapsed on Monday Night Football. And then they just didn't know what to do. So they Just went to the studio like he had a heart attack.
H
Did you see that live?
Bobby Bones
Yes, I was watching it live.
H
Yeah.
Eddie
Yeah.
J
I still remember immediately they went to a Burger King commercial. And I always think of that when
Bobby Bones
I hear that Burger King commercial or
Eddie
Whopper after that, the jingle or whatever.
Bobby Bones
And then through to the studio.
Fred Armisen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
For a long time.
H
And then you're wondering like, okay, well, they're gonna start this back.
Bobby Bones
Played the game, did they?
Eddie
No, they canceled that game. They did. Yeah, they stopped that one.
Bobby Bones
Oh, dang. My, my. Never trust the memory. I remember the game.
H
I remember they called it.
Eddie
Yeah, they called that game, did they not?
Bobby Bones
Did they ever finish the game? They couldn't have, right?
Eddie
No, they didn't.
Sam J
Why?
Bobby Bones
I remember them finishing the game.
Eddie
I want to say, like, because it was the Bills and cheat. No, it was a Bills.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I think a World Cup. I'm thinking World Cup. And the guy had the heart attack on that. World cup of Soccer. And the guy had the heart attack on the field.
H
Yeah, the Denmark guy.
Bobby Bones
Then they keep playing.
H
Yeah, that one. They keep going.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking about.
H
In soccer, they keep going.
Bobby Bones
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
J
Or it's like in wrestling when Owen Hart died, they kept having the event.
Bobby Bones
He died falling from the rafters.
Eddie
I remember that.
Bobby Bones
Okay, I got a couple more here. Sports wise, LeBron's the decision.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Which was wild. Bin Laden being killed.
Eddie
Yes.
Popsicle Ad Voice
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Let's see what I got. I mean, and a bit Harambe. I don't know if that ever crossed you guys. When Harambe was murdered in Cincinnati.
H
The gorilla.
Bobby Bones
Y. Yeah.
H
Cuz did somebody, a little girl fall in or something?
Bobby Bones
I think some. I don't know if it's a girl or a boy, but. Yeah, but.
H
But he didn't hurt the baby or the kid, but they killed him anyway.
Bobby Bones
Justice for Haram. Doesn't make sense, balloon boy. I watch that crap Life.
H
I remember you talking about it a lot.
Eddie
Was that the one that was on Netflix too?
Bobby Bones
Like there's probably a documentary.
Eddie
Yeah, I watched that like a year ago maybe.
Bobby Bones
I remember it live. Living in Austin. And the kid was just floating in this balloon. And turns out he was up in the attic. But everybody was watching, thinking the kid was in the balloon.
H
Thought that he just floated off into a different world.
Bobby Bones
Let's see, what else did I put here? I mean, I don't know if this was one moment, but I put monkey pox because I just thought monkey was funny.
H
Yeah, well, that's a Big deal. We talked about it a lot.
Bobby Bones
I know. It's just if you're gonna have a pox, you can't name it after something that's fun.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And lovable.
H
Chicken. Monkey.
Bobby Bones
At least chicken, though. You don't want to hug a chicken.
Eddie
No, you don't. You can't.
Bobby Bones
You want to have a pet monkey. So. Yeah. Anyway, there's the Ocean Gate Titan, too. But then I don't know if I've just been affected by the documentary and the stories after the exploding boat down below.
H
Dude, what about COVID Like, just Covid in general?
Bobby Bones
Yep. Crazy.
H
Was crazy.
Bobby Bones
It's crazy. I was talking to Little Big Town Karen and Kimberly about that specifically. Not the actual virus, but how wild.
H
That was wild. I mean, I'm in my garage spraying disinfectant on my groceries.
Eddie
Yeah.
H
With gloves on. Going to the mail and putting gloves on. And then I remember specifically being like, I'm not wearing a mask to go anywhere. That's the stupidest thing ever. But then you looked around. You're like, everyone's wearing a mask. I. I'm literally the only one that doesn't want to wear it. I'm putting it on.
Bobby Bones
I was already wearing masks pre Covid. On airplanes because.
J
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And I liked it. And I want to catch people's flus. And people wouldn't sit. They'd leave that middle seat open on Southwest because I had a mask on. And I wasn't sick. I just didn't want people. And so it wasn't that weird to me. I kind of enjoyed that part of it.
Eddie
Yeah.
H
That was normal to you.
F
Yeah.
Eddie
You were covered before COVID He was.
Bobby Bones
Anyway, I saw those commercials and thought, that's. That's pretty.
Eddie
That's pretty wild.
H
Have you seen. There's more.
Bobby Bones
There's way more. We just couldn't. I may pull some more, but there's some bad ones.
H
It's like that video of the news interview where they're interviewing people about wearing seatbelts.
J
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
We're drinking and driving. Yeah. That's the best one. That's the best.
H
What are they gonna do next? Can't have a beer after work.
Eddie
Yeah.

Bobby Bones
All right, World Cup. You wanna do a little World cup talk?
Fred Armisen
Yeah.
H
That was interesting.
Eddie
Boring.
Bobby Bones
I didn't turn it on till near the end of the 90 minutes because like I said, I'm not gonna start at the beginning. I don't care enough. But it was getting close and I thought, oh, may get some Penalty kicks here. 00. Turn it on. Text you boys. I'm like, I'm in, boys. 00. Going into extra time. And then once Spain, once they lost a guy. Argentina.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And then Spain made a goal. You knew it was over. I had listened to people talk all week about it. Anyway, going, whoever scores first because one Spain plays such good defense, they give up one goal the entire tournament.
H
That is really good.
Bobby Bones
All eight matches, only one goal.
Eddie
Yeah. That's insane.
Bobby Bones
So they said if Spain scores first, they'll win because their defense is so good. No one will score. If Argentina scores first, they'll win because Spain's offense isn't that great and they probably won't score. So it was 00. I'm American. I'm rooting for penalty kicks like crazy.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
When that dude. I guess it was a tackle.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
No, when he got the red. When he got the red. No, I don't know when he got the red card.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
That dude flipped.
Eddie
That was crazy.
F
That was a fool.
Bobby Bones
That's what we're talking about. I think a little bit. He played that perfectly. He overplayed the flip. Those guys are so athletic. But, man, how aggressive was that dude?
H
Aggressive.
Eddie
That guy was pissed that Argentina Player, like, there was a couple of times where he was doing some. I think he was just frustrated and he just took it out on that guy.
H
So he got a double yellow, right? So, like, he had gotten.
Bobby Bones
Is that what it was? I just saw the red card come out. I didn't know he.
Eddie
Yeah, he got a yellow, like, not
H
long before that earlier in the game. Yeah, not. Not too long before that. And then that one caused another yellow, which means it's a red.
Bobby Bones
I thought that was red enough to be a red.
Eddie
I feel like that would have been.
Bobby Bones
And how that dude with flipping through
Eddie
the air, I was like, that's the first time I watched a game all tournament. Been like, that's a foul for sure.
H
And then most of the time I'm watching him like, flop. Come on, get up, dude. You're not really hurt when that guy's down. I'm like, I get it. Stay down, dude.
Bobby Bones
That hurts again. I only watched the last quarter of regular play, plus that extra time, but I've listened to people talk about it, and it seems like Argentina knew they weren't as good as Spain. So they were just trying to muck it up the whole game. They were just fouling so much that they were daring. The refs call it every play then. And the ref wouldn't. Because you don't want to call out every play. I felt bad for Messi. I wanted Messi to win a second one.
Eddie
Same.
Bobby Bones
Seems like he is so loved by his teammates. He's, you know, he. There's nothing about him that turns me off like Ronaldo a little bit. He seems like a douchebag. It could also be his, like, glistening sweat and good looks.
H
His great colored skin. Yeah.
Eddie
Tan skin.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
You also can see his teammates don't love him. Or maybe I'm just projecting that.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But yeah, Messi is like 5, 8. I don't know how tall he is. 5, 8, 5, 9, 40 years old.
H
And I felt bad that he never really got the ball because that was just the game. The game was Spain having possession 90% of the game.
Bobby Bones
They never took a shot.
H
No, I know. And that text was so funny when you're like, hold on. So the stat that says Argentina's zero shots, that means they haven't taken a shot. Not one dude.
Bobby Bones
I was like, you guys have been watching this. They haven't. And not only that, I looked afterward. I think Argentina only got the ball inside whatever that square zone is one time. I don't know. The zone's called.
H
Yeah, the. Yeah, right. By the goal.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, the. Right by the goal zone.
Eddie
Yeah. The big square.
Bobby Bones
Well, I did learn a little more about soccer this run.
H
Yeah. So, you know what's funny is my kids, like, want to play soccer now because of it. Like, even, like, hey, let's go to the. The park down the street that they have. They have goals. They have soccer goals. Let's go kick. So I love. I love that anytime a sport just kind of sparks their excitement. It's pretty cool.
Bobby Bones
That dude that's 19, who's like, Spain's stud player.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Now he's won a World Cup.
H
I know.
Bobby Bones
That's the kid that Messi bathed, right?
Eddie
Yeah.
H
Okay.
Popsicle Ad Voice
Yeah.
H
Can you describe that picture for me?
Bobby Bones
Well, there were a lot of pictures.
H
The bathing one?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Well, I don't know, but there are a lot of pictures of him, holding him, and then one of them happens. He was in a bath as well. I don't. I don't know.
H
Why was he bathing him? Do you know he's a baby.
Bobby Bones
You bathe babies. I don't know, dude.
H
Like, you're my best friend. I'm not. Bathe your baby. I'm not going to bathe your baby.
Bobby Bones
I know, but I don't understand either. So what do you want from me? I don't know.
H
I just, like. Because my.
Bobby Bones
Because Europe, man. I just ago. You know, because he was Barcelona. So that, you know, he was in Spain.
Eddie
Yeah.
H
And you bathed the baby.
Bobby Bones
I guess. Dude, you bathe everybody's baby.
Eddie
Maybe it was like a soap thing.
Bobby Bones
Like not enough soap to go around or something. Yeah, that too.
Eddie
I don't know.
H
Okay.
Eddie
Did you watch the halftime show?
Bobby Bones
No, Eddie, I watch clips.
H
Interesting.
Bobby Bones
I saw Ted Lasso Sub and Justin Bieber.
H
Oh, yeah, that's funny.
Fred Armisen
Yeah.
Eddie
Yeah, that was pretty good.
Bobby Bones
And then Bieber played live.
J
Yeah.
Eddie
But he only played one song in his acoustic.
Bobby Bones
Is what acoustic? A what?
H
Say one more time acoustic.
Eddie
What am I saying?
H
That's funny.
Bobby Bones
Acoustic.
H
That's it.
Eddie
Is that how you say it? Acoustic? No, I can't say that.
H
You've always said acoustic.
Eddie
Acoustic.
Carrie Brownstein
Huh.
Bobby Bones
It's probably because you've only read it and not heard it being said.
Eddie
Maybe.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
So I'm pronouncing it wrong. Like there's not like a. Oh, the west coast says it in the South,
Bobby Bones
I think it's acoustic all the way around. It's acoustic. Acoustic.
Eddie
Acoustic.
Bobby Bones
Do Hallelujah.
Eddie
Yes. And I didn't know it was, like, a trendy thing. I was watching with my sister. She's like, yeah, it's like a trend on social media, I guess. And then they, he did like World Cup Hallelujah. I don't know. But the performance, I mean they had like a bunch of big names.
Bobby Bones
Shakira, Shakira.
Eddie
Bts, Madonna, Coldplay.
Bobby Bones
Who you say?
H
Bts.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, right.
Eddie
Yeah, Shakira Coldplay played cold. Chris Martin was there.
H
Oh, I didn't see that.
Eddie
Yeah, cold player.
Bobby Bones
Chris Martin.
Eddie
Both are cool, but maybe just Chris Martin actually with all the kids.
H
His kids.
Eddie
I don't know. All those kids.
H
Oh, was he bathing kids again? Like what is happening?
Bobby Bones
That's all they did. Big bath is him taking a bath with a bunch of kids.
H
Hey, Europe, man.
Bobby Bones
I saw Post Malone pre show performing.
Eddie
Oh yeah, I saw that too, but not during halftime.
Bobby Bones
I, I saw that one, but then once the game started, I took changed it.
H
Ah yes, because he didn't want to watch the start of the game.
Bobby Bones
No. Who gives a crap?
H
What did Tom Cruise do? Did he do something like.
Bobby Bones
No, I think he did like a pep talk.
H
Yeah, yeah, you do something. Because I walked in and my wife's like, Tom Cruise is doing something. Why? Why Tom Cruise?
Bobby Bones
I think it was like a pep talk, like a for television type.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
I only saw clips.
Eddie
Bruce Buffer do this.
H
Yeah, I saw that.
Bobby Bones
But then he wasn't even on and they were talking over him.
Eddie
I know, like the. Yeah, the announcer or the. Yeah, the pre game show or something. What about the announcer calling Matt Dame, Brad Pitt. Did you see that?
H
There were a lot of little mess ups.
Bobby Bones
Well, farewell World Cup.
H
That was fun though. Like overall, did you enjoy it?
Bobby Bones
Yes, but I think too it speaks for expansion of tournament. The United States was very much into it and we loved it because we got into the knockout. Had they not expanded the tournament, we wouldn't have gotten to the knockout.
H
Correct.
Bobby Bones
So I always love expansion. People complain about expansion to watered down. You're just never gonna convince me that more games is bad for me because what's the worst I can do? Not watch? Okay. And it wouldn't have if had we not expanded, the US wouldn't have been in. We wouldn't have cared about the World cup so much. I wouldn't have.
Eddie
Heck no, I wouldn't have. Well, last thing. Did you see Trump getting the picture at the end?
Bobby Bones
I didn't. As soon as Spain scored, I was out. What happened?
Eddie
You know, like in soccer they get on the stage or really any trophy ceremony and they take like one big picture with a team and there's like all these pyros behind them. Trump gave him the trophy. I didn't even know that was gonna happen. And then he just stood on the stage and they're trying to get him off the stage and he just stood there as they're taking like the picture, the whole Spain team and Trump's just standing there and the FIFA president's like, trying to get him off, and he's just standing there like, no, I'm staying here.
Bobby Bones
That's funny. We did watch the Papa Shot tournament, which was fun.
H
Yeah, that was interesting.
Eddie
Yeah.
H
Did you watch the first time?
Eddie
No. The only thing I saw was on your. Your story, which is great.
Carrie Brownstein
They.
Bobby Bones
It's ESPN plus, so obviously it's not espn. And we talked about it on the Bobby Bone show. It was cool that Ray made it.
Eddie
Heck, yeah.
Bobby Bones
And then it was cool that he kept winning.
H
Yeah, dude, he played really, really well.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, he's not at that one of the top guys, but he's one of those mid guys that I think if he worked really hard, he could get up to that top guy level. Because some of those guys, this is their life.
H
Yes.
Bobby Bones
I'm sure they have real jobs too. And I don't mean it as an insult, but we all have things that we focus on. It could be kids, it could be your extra obsessed with your job. Who knows? Gambling, this is their. They love it. And so this is their identity and their personality, and they dedicate a lot of their life to it. And that's cool. They found their community. So I don't mean that as a dig at all from somebody who plays tournament pickleball. It's not going to be a dig.
J
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But it was cool to see Ray get in there and just play well. And I was nervous for him. Like, my heart was beating fast in the middle of his game.
H
I know. Same.
Bobby Bones
They just should do show the scores better.
H
Yeah, it's. It's almost like they. They were in between shots of like right behind them where you can see the player and their score. But then once they went sideways and all you saw was the player, you're like, I don't know who's winning.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Who cares about their shooting motion?
Eddie
Right.
Bobby Bones
But.
Eddie
And it happens so fast. It's not like you need different angles. Right.
Bobby Bones
I mean, and they're not gonna spend a bunch of money for a big television production or have a bunch of notes with cameras. It was just kind of like rolling with a couple cameras and get it up on ESPN plus because it wasn't very organized either.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
They would go okay, that's over. Next group up. And so eight more people would come in. Sometimes people would forget to go up and play. But once they got rid of the riff raff and Ray was still in, they got to bracket play, like, knockout round. This is basically World cup, but for pretty much.
Eddie
Love that.
Bobby Bones
So they got to bracket round after they eliminated, I think, 32 people. So then you start to play another person heads up, and Raymundo's playing another guy heads up, but it's two out of three because it's only a minute.
J
Yeah.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
So Ray loses the first game in the two out of three, and he's eight seed, and the guy he's playing as a nine seed, so they're pretty even. But he loses the first game. We're like, oh, God, this is it. And then he crushes the next two. Whoops. The guy.
Eddie
Really?
H
Yeah, dude, it was awesome.
Bobby Bones
And on that third game that he won, he, like, gave the camera, like,
Eddie
a. I love it. I love it, dude. I saw the headphones on, headphones on, the tank top and his arms.
H
Later, he said there was nothing playing through the headphones. Just had them on to block out
Bobby Bones
the noise, I think, just to look cool. Except for they were, like beats by dre from, like, 2007. Like, how cool. Anybody else notice that? Yeah, they were, like, old school, but I hope he keeps doing that. That's. That's fun.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And that's different. And that's something that you can have that's about you and that you can take your extra energy and do that.
H
And he can hang with them. Like, it's not like he hasn't. He's just so bad, where it's like, yeah, you would say, hey, give up, dude. Don't do that. But no, this. He can play with the best. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Don't you think, though? Like, I think if I train hard enough, I could play with the best.
J
Yes.
Bobby Bones
But he has one at his house, and he's been training for a long time, so it's not a shot at him. It's the amount of effort you want to put into it. And he's been working hard, and it paid off.
H
And it's all about speed, right? It's all about, like, just how the rhythm you can get over and over and over. Because once you miss, like, 1, 2, 3, then it's like, oh, it's hard to catch up.
Bobby Bones
Muscle memory, man.
Eddie
Was the guy that won it. I feel like height might be an advantage, or.
Bobby Bones
No, he was not tall.
Eddie
He wasn't.
Bobby Bones
He Was normal. I mean, normal in every way. He's like a 45 year old dude, had a collared shirt on. Like, just didn't. Wasn't trying to fake like an athlete, just a dude.
H
You watched all the way to the end?
Bobby Bones
I watched. After Ray lost, I kept it on and then I was doing stuff to like shut the house down. And so I'd walk back over and see who won. And then I saw that guy counters. And now to get the dogs out, let them use the bathroom, that lock the doors, turn the alarms off, that kind of stuff. I didn't watch really any golf. It was on too early. And also I didn't care.
H
Yeah, I would say by. Especially for the first two rounds. Day, day two, day one and day two, everything was done by like one o'.
Eddie
Clock.
Bobby Bones
The only thing that I saw was Rory talking crap about Bryson.
H
Oh, dude, they hate each other. It's amazing. They hate each other. What? But did you see what he was talking about?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, because he'd stepped on the grass, right, to like, to help his back, like. Yeah, his backswing.
H
So like, you know, the ball's in all this grass. He's going behind it like hay looking grass. Really, really tall knee, knee high. And he's gets behind the ball and kind of looks like he's looking at the angle of his shot, but he's stepping that way. He can kind of push all that grass down. So when he swings, that backswing has an open. So which is illegal. But then Scheffler comes out afterwards and says like, I know Bryce.
Bobby Bones
He's like, he doesn't cheat.
H
He's not a cheater. And so it may look like he's doing that, but he's probably just looking at his angle. But I mean, if you look at the footage, Kevin, he is stomping on that grass.
Bobby Bones
Rory wasn't having the Scheffler approach. He was like, we don't like each other.
H
Right.
Bobby Bones
You know, and also it was the clips I was watching was. Will he even show up the next day?
H
Who, Bryce?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, they gave him a two stroke penalty.
H
Stroke penalty. That's brutal. But he finished in the top 10, I think, right?
Bobby Bones
I'm telling you, I cared nothing about that. And the guy who won, Ryan Fox,
H
doesn't he play so slow, like just his tempo or does he play so fast?
Bobby Bones
I just saw people complaining about his tempo.
H
I didn't notice anything different. That's interesting. Did people complain about that?
Bobby Bones
You can put his face up. I wouldn't know who he was.
H
No, no, he's definitely one of those.
Bobby Bones
I think he won. Raised Papa shot. I think it was the same guy. I think he won. Pop a shot. They won that.
Eddie
What do you see first videos in AI where he's got a weed whacker, mowing it down. But no, it definitely looks like. And you know, you can tell when somebody is, like, trying not to be obvious, but they're being obvious. Yeah, that's what it looks like. He's, like, stomping on it but not looking at it, but just kind of, like, stepping around.
H
He does seem like Bryson. He seems like everything he does is calculated entertainment.
Bobby Bones
Very much so. To the point where I think he hired a PR team, from what I heard, to make him more likable when he started doing the YouTube stuff, because he was hated by people that watched, by people he played with. So he started shooting the YouTube videos. Could be wildly inaccurate here, but just the things that I've heard and read. But he hired a team to make him more likable. And so then people started watching his YouTube videos going, I like this guy. He's so relatable. And. But sometimes that stuff trickles out still, like the real him.
H
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
That. He does seem very calculated.
H
It's interesting because there's such a magnifying glass on these players during these, like, during these tournaments where Scheffler. There was a moment there at the end, like, the very final day, where he hits it in the rough again, and he's just like, why? Why?
Bobby Bones
Like, what are you doing?
H
And it was like, no judgment, because we all do that. But he sounded like such a baby, like a little puss that I was just like, I can't believe we're watching this. And I feel for him because, I mean, he was truly frustrated with himself at that point.
Bobby Bones
I think Tom Brady is just ruining himself.
H
What's he doing?
Eddie
I'm done, dude. Done.
Bobby Bones
That's your dude at Fanatics Fest. He's there. I got no problem with that. Do your thing. Make your money. But he starts talking about how he can wrestle, and then him and Jake Paul get. Get mouthy on stage and he slaps Jake Paul.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It's so fake. It's all just wrestling. And then it shows them at the World cup flipping each other off.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like, continuing to push that. I liked it when Tom Brady was just a Super bowl champion who worked hard, who did everything right, ate his vitamins, said his prayers. That might be Hulk Hogan, but still, it was. Now that we're seeing, like, these layers of him as a person.
Eddie
It's bad. Like, I think the majority of people now are on the same page that we've been talking about for a while now, where it's just like, dude, take a break. Go get married again or something. Like, you are bored and you have too much money. Just go do something else for a little bit. Like, Peyton Manning is perfect in a few commercials, you know, does the Manning cast just enough where you're like, yeah, he's still Peyton Manning.
Bobby Bones
Peyton Manning also isn't single. And yes, you know, hooking up with influencers. I probably doing the same thing, but no one has any sort of relationship with my identity as being like, soup champion guy. No. Nonsense. He's all nonsense now. Tom Brady's all nonsense.
Eddie
Yeah. The slap was so bad.
J
It's so weird.
Bobby Bones
And then they were. When they were flipping each other off, back and forth.
Eddie
Yeah. And he's. And Brady sitting with his son, flipping them off with his kid. Yeah.
H
Behind his back.
Eddie
I'm like, this is weird.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
H
He was flipping him off behind.
Bobby Bones
And I'm not gonna. Whatever. Do whatever you want to do. But it's just not the image that we were fed for so long. So it's so weird now.
Eddie
Yeah. And it just keeps getting worse and more weird. That's the crazy part.
Bobby Bones
He needs Bryson's team. Yeah. That PR team needs a PR team to. Yeah. Bring.
Eddie
So you didn't like his wrestling walkout coffin?
Bobby Bones
I didn't mind. The coffin thing was stupid.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Because he comes out the undertaker and he raises up theatrics. Don't mind that. He's just like, look, it's cool. Tom. Tom freaking Brady, great quarterback of all time. But then once it got to the slap and those two and he's like, I tried to whatever it that all the other things he's done too. It's just kind of lame now.
H
Did you see him hit that punching machine, though?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, he did hit it hard. I was surprised he did that on camera. Like, credit because even to try that, because if you don't hit it hard, everybody's going to post it and you're going to look like a wimp. So he hit it hard.
H
I thought Bieber hit it hard.
Bobby Bones
John Cena, did you see him hit it?
J
No.
Bobby Bones
You ever see that video of him hitting one? Crushes it. Yeah. Bieber hit it hard. Bieber hit a bunch of three pointers. You see him hit threes?
H
Yeah, I did see that.
Eddie
I saw him kick field goals.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. He was an athlete. Yeah, it was good Okay. I moved to Caitlin Clark. She's now the first player in WNBA history with 45 points and 10 assists. She's still on a minutes restriction. I know she was night two anyway from her injury last year, but first player ever. They are completely botching Caitlin Clark. And what? The WNBA does not like her. They do not care. That suspension when she got punched in the throat was only because Adam Silver stepped in and made that commissioner of the WNBA suspend the.
Eddie
Yeah, I called her.
H
Right. Yeah, yeah.
Eddie
The commissioner.
Bobby Bones
Even Nike not releasing her shoe for like two years.
H
They're holding it for two years.
Bobby Bones
Well, it's coming out this fall, finally.
H
Oh, I got you.
Fred Armisen
Yeah.
Eddie
But, yeah, you're right.
H
It's a huge opportunity missed.
Bobby Bones
She is the face of the wnba. And then I watched everybody scream about how she's not the face of it. The face doesn't mean the best. The face means the person people know the league for. And so I think I saw RG3 saying she was the face. I saw like Portnoy saying she was the face. I agree. More people know her than anybody else that plays in wnba.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Not people that are fans of wnba. But for a league to grow, you have to have casuals. You have to have casuals. And if you were to ask somebody who doesn't follow the wnba, can you name a WNBA player? They're going to say Kaylin Clark and Rebecca Lobo.
H
Sophie Cunningham.
Bobby Bones
And then you're going to say Rebecca lobo. She retired 20 years ago. And you'll be like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Eddie
Cheryl Soup. Yes.
Bobby Bones
But Kayla Clark is the face of the wnba.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And they continue to try to make her not be. And it's hurting the league.
Eddie
It's so weird. It's like they're going against their own brand. That's the weirdest part.
Bobby Bones
They're going against the growing of their brand because. Well, you know why? And Caitlin Clark doesn't want to be a part of it. She's only part of, like, being used as some, like, political pawn.
Sam J
She.
Bobby Bones
She's not that.
Eddie
Right.
Bobby Bones
And so she's even out saying, stop using me as that. But she's voted the 11th best guard in the whole.
H
In the WNBA.
Eddie
Yeah. By who? Was that? Like a player?
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Oh, my gosh.
Bobby Bones
It's crazy. So, yeah, that's what's up. Caitlin Clark, 45 and 10. First player to ever do that. That was in the news.
Eddie
Justice for Caitlin.
Bobby Bones
I saw you not on crutches.
Eddie
Yeah. So over the weekend, did a lot of rest and a lot of recovery. Icing, elevation. And the doctor the other day even told me, he's like, hey, this is day two or three. I was trying to get mri, couldn't get one because insurance has to approve it after three business days. Stupid. But he's like, it's gonna get better, I promise. And like over the weekend, the next couple days, it dramatically got better. As far as the pain and putting weight on. I'm still wearing the brace, still limping, can't put all my weight on it, but I have to walk, like on the outside of my foot. But I'm like, it gives me so much optimism how fast. It's felt much better. But I still have to get an MRI and find out the damage because it's still locked up. I still can't extend my knee and like straighten it.
Bobby Bones
What do you think happened?
Eddie
A meniscus. They keep saying it's either a meniscus or an mcl, like a tear or sprain, and just don't know the severity until you get an mri.
H
So a sprain, they can let that recover on its own. A tear yet to surgery?
Bobby Bones
You don't have to have surgery in all of them.
Eddie
No.
Bobby Bones
Depends on how severe and what part of the knee. But yeah, if it's a sprain, they're gonna do anything. Except say you have to rest this thing for a long time.
Eddie
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, a little. Like exercises. But it could be like an arthroscopic surgery like we talked about the other day, or if there's like ACL damage, which it doesn't seem like there is because everything seems like it's pretty much intact, like the big ligaments, then it could be anything from just a little arthroscopic, like 45 minute surgery, you're walking on the same day to something deeper that takes months to recover from.
H
And I was trying to explain to my wife what you did, but I really couldn't because I'm like, I don't know, he stepped weird. He was jumping over a creek or something. What happened?
Eddie
Creek? No, there's like a ledge in my backyard and there's a table that bumps up against it. And instead of walking around the table, I just like, kind of just leaped over the table. Like it's two feet maybe, and that's it. So as I like launched with my weight, it twisted weird for whatever reason, off of the ledge. And then once I landed, like, I felt the twist. And then once I landed, that's where the pop came and I heard. And then I couldn't put any. Anything on It. Any weight.
H
So you injured the one. The leg you were pushing on.
Eddie
Pushing on. And then once I landed is like, when it just. Boom, was gone.
Bobby Bones
Good luck.
Eddie
You're old. I know.
J
We're all.
Eddie
Dude, I know. I just started golfing again too.
Bobby Bones
Nothing heals like it used to. That's the part. I don't think you get injured more. I just think when you do, it takes forever to bounce back. For me, that's been the case. If anything is turn sprain if there's a creek or a pop.
H
Oh, now you're jumping over a creek.
Bobby Bones
No, man. It's just like. It takes forever.
Eddie
Yeah.
J
To.
Bobby Bones
And welcome. Welcome to the club.
Eddie
And you can't be like, you know, we're just stubborn guys, and we're like, I'm fine.
H
Yes.
Eddie
So, like, all weekend, I just sat around and it was so hard. And the wife's got the kids by herself again.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that would suck.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Babies in a busted knee.
Eddie
Brutal.
H
She was upset. She's like, when are you gonna get better?
Bobby Bones
That's a country song. Babies in a busted knee.
Eddie
Babies in a busted knee.
Bobby Bones
Two babies
Eddie
on the acoustic guitar. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Playing live acoustic.
H
Here he is.
Bobby Bones
Two babies and a busted knee.
Eddie
That's right.
Bobby Bones
I guess I typoed on the Bobby Bone Show. Instagram.
H
Oh, no.
Bobby Bones
I typo on everything. So that's how you know it was me. I'm trying to make that account money. We weren't making that account money. So you got to post pictures to make money. And I posted one that I knew would get a lot of engagement. And so did you.
H
Rage bait.
Bobby Bones
No, no, no. I said, whose desk is this? Only post once. We'll pick a winner. And it was the Alchemist Book. The Crown and the Water. A water burger. I don't know what even. Is that table sign?
F
Yeah, yeah.
H
Like, when your order's ready.
Bobby Bones
And so far, I just posted. Got 300182 comments.
H
Dang.
Bobby Bones
But I. I think I. When I typed it out, I put, who. Who is desk? Is this, like, who's.
Eddie
Whatever, man.
H
You can fix that.
Bobby Bones
Well, yeah, but then everybody in the comments wants to be like, oh, I know who's. Yeah, shut up.
Eddie
Who's running this now?
Fred Armisen
Shut up.
Bobby Bones
I only posted that to get people to write for engagement because our social media never makes any money. Let's see, it's making any Money now. Okay. Views11213.
H
Hey, let's make some money by nickel.
Bobby Bones
Something nickel. Okay, so there's that. Mike went to Atlanta to watch a baseball game.
J
Yeah, I went to go see the Rangers play.
Bobby Bones
I saw you at Truist park. And then I thought, why did Mike go to watch the Braves? And then it was the Rangers were there.
H
That's cool.
J
Yeah, that's an easy trip. 3 1/2 hours and you're there.
Bobby Bones
Did you guys stay the night?
J
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
How was it? How was the whole game?
J
It was a great game. And then we ended up winning. There's no better feeling than going as the opposing team and winning because you leave and everybody else is silent.
H
But you're happy.
J
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I don't know. There's so many baseball games. Are people really upset? Were they upset when you guys won?
J
There was nobody talking and then you just kind of like fist bumped all the other Rangers fans there on the way out. So it's cool.
Bobby Bones
Was it so hot?
J
It was so hot. Luckily we got seats in the shade, but everybody else was dying. Like, I don't know how they still charge you for water at that point because everybody is so hot and sweating. You have kids, like, almost passing out. That's a good thing. And then you have to go pay 14 bucks for two bottles of water. I'm like, this should be free. Or at least buy one, get one.
Bobby Bones
That's a great point. Because what if somebody gets heat exhaustion?
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Because they didn't bring enough money to have water.
Eddie
Like woodstock 99 again.
Bobby Bones
Was there possibly a cup and a fountain somewhere?
J
There was like water fountains, but the water and that was so boiling hot. Like, nobody's going to get, like, hydrated from that.
Bobby Bones
You're probably going to get that lettuce diarrhea explosion. They don't even know yet. That's where you get it.
H
If the water's warm, you don't get the hydration.
Bobby Bones
You do, but no one wants to drink it. Yeah, you're not going to drink it.
J
You drink it. Your mouth is all scrolling hot from it.
H
I see.
Bobby Bones
Like, when you're outside and it's hot, are you really wanting some warm water?
H
You don't, but it's hydrating you. It just doesn't feel like it is.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, you just don't drink as much.
J
Like drinking from the hose. Back in the day, you're like, oh, it was gross.
Bobby Bones
What else do you guys do in Atlanta?
J
We basically just went to the game, went to go eat, and then just hung out in the hotel room. Watch Papa Shot.
Bobby Bones
Oh, you guys watch. Did you watch on your phone?
J
On my.
Bobby Bones
I had my iPad because I'm imagining the hotel didn't have ESPN plus, they did not.
Eddie
I was looking for it on the cable. Like, that's not there.
H
No.
Bobby Bones
I was thinking about buying one of those machines, but they're pretty cool. I'm just gonna see if they give those guys one. Yeah, they're like seven grand, dude.
H
But I. I didn't.
Bobby Bones
I wouldn't put it here because people would break it.
H
Correct.
Bobby Bones
I wouldn't leave anything here. You didn't realize what.
H
They kept talking about the machine, and I was like, oh, I've seen it a million times. But no, this is different. The one with that whole screen, that's a. That's high quality.
Bobby Bones
Full screen. Counts as it goes.
H
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Got the timer. It tells you when you make it. I think Ray in his house has one that has like wood backboard and he just shoots this one. But it doesn't move forward and backward. The old school one used to come forward, like, go forward and back at a certain point. This one, after a certain point, just starts counting them as three points on. On a setting.
Eddie
Right, Mike?
J
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So for a second I thought, should I get in this? But then I'll get obsessed with it and then I'll quit and I'll be like, yeah. And then once I get to the point of I feel like at my peak, I'm like, all right, I've now accomplished this. Moving on. And then I got a $6,000 machine somewhere at the house, just sitting there.
H
Yeah.
Eddie
And then you give it away to charity.
H
He's going to donate it to some papa shot league.
Bobby Bones
I know. I did my golf simulator.
H
I know.
Bobby Bones
I saw it, donated it.
H
I think I saw the one Eddie outside.
Bobby Bones
It was like, man, when we playing any golf walking over here.
Eddie
Oh, when's the last time you guys played? Was it the Florida?
H
Yeah, Florida would be the last time we played.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. When have we play played, though?
H
Before that, we played. Yeah, we played a few weeks before Florida.
Bobby Bones
Just to one time in a year.
H
And we were fighting the sun. This the sun setting.
Bobby Bones
Oh, we didn't play a full round.
H
We did. We did not.
Bobby Bones
I played nine holes with Matt Castle. We were going to play 18. It was so hot.
F
It was week.
Bobby Bones
We had vacation that at 9, we were both looking at each other like, you want to pull. One of us has got a gotta say, we don't want to do this anymore.
H
No way is that hot.
Bobby Bones
Dude, our shirt. We were wet. T shirt contest.
J
Really?
Bobby Bones
It was just. We also had to play at like 11. It was one of those 104 days. And we just been putting off Playing. So we went to his club and played in nine holes in. It was miserable. So we play.
H
Yeah, just let me know.
Bobby Bones
It's not. Let me know. Because you have four kids.
H
Yes.
Bobby Bones
You almost can never play.
H
You're right.
Eddie
You're right.
Bobby Bones
But it's like, Let me know. It's like you can almost never play.
H
I feel like Fridays are the days where, like, I could do it. If I schedule everything right. I can do Friday after we're done with everything, you know, done. Go straight to the course. You want to try Friday? Oh, and I think my. I think my. My parents, my.
Bobby Bones
We can't go to Mike because you have to be a member only until 1 or 2pm on Friday. I guess we could work until 2.
H
Sign up, dude.
Bobby Bones
Sign up.
H
Just tell me how. Where to pay.
Eddie
Pay the initiation fee.
H
You can always walk with me and my kids.
F
Okay.
H
Sometimes. Seriously? Because, like, we'll go to, like, one of the public courses here. And after 4 o', clock, it's just, you know, first come, first serve and you can just walk.
Bobby Bones
Do you wait in line?
H
Usually there's no one there. So we show up and we're walking after, like, 10 minutes. But I've thought about, like, oh, I should invite Bobby because, like, it's only three of us. We can do a foursome. And I'm like, there's no way he's gonna want to walk 18 holes.
Bobby Bones
I. I probably won't when I walk 18 holes.
Eddie
When's the last time you walked 18 holes?
J
We can get.
H
You can get a push cart.
Bobby Bones
I've walked enough. But I don't know the last time that I've walked 18 holes. I've walked because, like, I would play these events where, like, Eddie or DJ with Caddy for me.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
And we'd walk 18 holes.
Eddie
You don't have a car. But not like a muni course where you're just walking for fun.
H
I do that all the time.
Eddie
Really? I don't. I don't remember last time I did either. I mean, high school.
Bobby Bones
I don't think I'm going to. Because you get hit by balls walking. Yeah. Oh, if you're playing a muni course and you're walking, there's balls flying all over the place.
H
I played with this one guy who's probably in his 50s, and he was walking, but he only had three clubs in his bag. So smart. And his bag was tiny.
Bobby Bones
So smart.
H
Because it's not heavy. Dude, I'm pushing like I have a fire.
Bobby Bones
But you want to play with all the clubs.
Sam J
Yeah.
Eddie
Like, what if you need a club that you don't have?
H
He was playing just fine. He had a driver, a seven iron, and a putter and a wedge. Like, four clubs. It's pretty amazing.
Bobby Bones
In reality, that's probably all we need.
Eddie
I know.
Bobby Bones
Really? Okay, that's it. We forget anything?
H
No, no, no. World Cup. Get that Tom Brady eight commercials.
J
Clark.
