These are commercials from back in the day that were legitimate commercials that they thought it was okay to run these commercials.

And some of them, it's only okay because, for example, this first commercial is about aids.

Oh, my gosh. I guess it's something they had to talk about.

No, but it's different. Before aids, the epidemic AIDS was this hit it. I was overweight and looked terrible, but AIDS helped me lose 46 pounds. The AIDS diet plan helped me lose 28 pounds. AIDS helps control your appetite. So you lose weight, yet AIDS lets you taste, chew, and enjoy. And the appetite suppressant in AIDS is not a stimulant. Then that happened. That's a moment before you guys. I was really young, so you had to be young.

Yeah. And then for kids too, that. I mean, we didn't watch the news growing up. Like, that's what my dad did my what? My dad watched news, but when that happened, we were glued to the tv.

Whenever I think about moments like that, news events that happened that then took over popular culture. Now 911 is the biggest one because that was a crazy news story. But if we take out like tragic terroristic or weather events, like the Will Smith slap, when he slapped Chris Rock out of nowhere, freaking crazy. Within 15 minutes, everybody's talking about it.

I was already wearing masks pre Covid. On airplanes because.

And I liked it. And I want to catch people's flus. And people wouldn't sit. They'd leave that middle seat open on Southwest because I had a mask on. And I wasn't sick. I just didn't want people. And so it wasn't that weird to me. I kind of enjoyed that part of it.

And then once Spain, once they lost a guy. Argentina.

And then Spain made a goal. You knew it was over. I had listened to people talk all week about it. Anyway, going, whoever scores first because one Spain plays such good defense, they give up one goal the entire tournament.

[H]

That is really good.

[Bobby Bones]

All eight matches, only one goal.

[Eddie]

Yeah. That's insane.

[Bobby Bones]

So they said if Spain scores first, they'll win because their defense is so good. No one will score. If Argentina scores first, they'll win because Spain's offense isn't that great and they probably won't score. So it was 00. I'm American. I'm rooting for penalty kicks like crazy.

[H]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

When that dude. I guess it was a tackle.

No, when he got the red. When he got the red. No, I don't know when he got the red card.

long before that earlier in the game. Yeah, not. Not too long before that. And then that one caused another yellow, which means it's a red.

I thought that was red enough to be a red.

I feel like that would have been.

And how that dude with flipping through

the air, I was like, that's the first time I watched a game all tournament. Been like, that's a foul for sure.

And then most of the time I'm watching him like, flop. Come on, get up, dude. You're not really hurt when that guy's down. I'm like, I get it. Stay down, dude.

That hurts again. I only watched the last quarter of regular play, plus that extra time, but I've listened to people talk about it, and it seems like Argentina knew they weren't as good as Spain. So they were just trying to muck it up the whole game. They were just fouling so much that they were daring. The refs call it every play then. And the ref wouldn't. Because you don't want to call out every play. I felt bad for Messi. I wanted Messi to win a second one.

[Eddie]

Same.

[Bobby Bones]

Seems like he is so loved by his teammates. He's, you know, he. There's nothing about him that turns me off like Ronaldo a little bit. He seems like a douchebag. It could also be his, like, glistening sweat and good looks.

[H]

His great colored skin. Yeah.

[Eddie]

Tan skin.

[H]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

You also can see his teammates don't love him. Or maybe I'm just projecting that.

And I felt bad that he never really got the ball because that was just the game. The game was Spain having possession 90% of the game.

No, I know. And that text was so funny when you're like, hold on. So the stat that says Argentina's zero shots, that means they haven't taken a shot. Not one dude.

I was like, you guys have been watching this. They haven't. And not only that, I looked afterward. I think Argentina only got the ball inside whatever that square zone is one time. I don't know. The zone's called.

Well, I did learn a little more about soccer this run.

There were a lot of little mess ups.

That was fun though. Like overall, did you enjoy it?

Yes, but I think too it speaks for expansion of tournament. The United States was very much into it and we loved it because we got into the knockout. Had they not expanded the tournament, we wouldn't have gotten to the knockout.

[H]

Correct.

[Bobby Bones]

So I always love expansion. People complain about expansion to watered down. You're just never gonna convince me that more games is bad for me because what's the worst I can do? Not watch? Okay. And it wouldn't have if had we not expanded, the US wouldn't have been in. We wouldn't have cared about the World cup so much. I wouldn't have.

[Eddie]

Heck no, I wouldn't have. Well, last thing. Did you see Trump getting the picture at the end?

[Bobby Bones]

I didn't. As soon as Spain scored, I was out. What happened?

[Eddie]

You know, like in soccer they get on the stage or really any trophy ceremony and they take like one big picture with a team and there's like all these pyros behind them. Trump gave him the trophy. I didn't even know that was gonna happen. And then he just stood on the stage and they're trying to get him off the stage and he just stood there as they're taking like the picture, the whole Spain team and Trump's just standing there and the FIFA president's like, trying to get him off, and he's just standing there like, no, I'm staying here.

[Bobby Bones]

That's funny. We did watch the Papa Shot tournament, which was fun.

[H]

Yeah, that was interesting.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[H]

Did you watch the first time?

[Eddie]

No. The only thing I saw was on your. Your story, which is great.

It's ESPN plus, so obviously it's not espn. And we talked about it on the Bobby Bone show. It was cool that Ray made it.

Heck, yeah.

And then it was cool that he kept winning.

Yeah, dude, he played really, really well.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, he's not at that one of the top guys, but he's one of those mid guys that I think if he worked really hard, he could get up to that top guy level. Because some of those guys, this is their life.

Yes.

[Bobby Bones]

I'm sure they have real jobs too. And I don't mean it as an insult, but we all have things that we focus on. It could be kids, it could be your extra obsessed with your job. Who knows? Gambling, this is their. They love it. And so this is their identity and their personality, and they dedicate a lot of their life to it. And that's cool. They found their community. So I don't mean that as a dig at all from somebody who plays tournament pickleball. It's not going to be a dig.

[J]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

But it was cool to see Ray get in there and just play well. And I was nervous for him. Like, my heart was beating fast in the middle of his game.

[H]

I know. Same.

[Bobby Bones]

They just should do show the scores better.

[H]

Yeah, it's. It's almost like they. They were in between shots of like right behind them where you can see the player and their score. But then once they went sideways and all you saw was the player, you're like, I don't know who's winning.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Who cares about their shooting motion?

[Eddie]

Right.

[Bobby Bones]

But.

[Eddie]

And it happens so fast. It's not like you need different angles. Right.

[Bobby Bones]

I mean, and they're not gonna spend a bunch of money for a big television production or have a bunch of notes with cameras. It was just kind of like rolling with a couple cameras and get it up on ESPN plus because it wasn't very organized either.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

They would go okay, that's over. Next group up. And so eight more people would come in. Sometimes people would forget to go up and play. But once they got rid of the riff raff and Ray was still in, they got to bracket play, like, knockout round. This is basically World cup, but for pretty much.

[Eddie]

Love that.

[Bobby Bones]

So they got to bracket round after they eliminated, I think, 32 people. So then you start to play another person heads up, and Raymundo's playing another guy heads up, but it's two out of three because it's only a minute.

[J]

Yeah.

[Eddie]

Okay.

[Bobby Bones]

So Ray loses the first game in the two out of three, and he's eight seed, and the guy he's playing as a nine seed, so they're pretty even. But he loses the first game. We're like, oh, God, this is it. And then he crushes the next two. Whoops. The guy.

[Eddie]

Really?

Yeah, dude, it was awesome.

And on that third game that he won, he, like, gave the camera, like,

a. I love it. I love it, dude. I saw the headphones on, headphones on, the tank top and his arms.

Later, he said there was nothing playing through the headphones. Just had them on to block out

And that's different. And that's something that you can have that's about you and that you can take your extra energy and do that.

I watched. After Ray lost, I kept it on and then I was doing stuff to like shut the house down. And so I'd walk back over and see who won. And then I saw that guy counters. And now to get the dogs out, let them use the bathroom, that lock the doors, turn the alarms off, that kind of stuff. I didn't watch really any golf. It was on too early. And also I didn't care.

Yeah, I would say by. Especially for the first two rounds. Day, day two, day one and day two, everything was done by like one o'.

The only thing that I saw was Rory talking crap about Bryson.

Oh, dude, they hate each other. It's amazing. They hate each other. What? But did you see what he was talking about?

Yeah, because he'd stepped on the grass, right, to like, to help his back, like. Yeah, his backswing.

So like, you know, the ball's in all this grass. He's going behind it like hay looking grass. Really, really tall knee, knee high. And he's gets behind the ball and kind of looks like he's looking at the angle of his shot, but he's stepping that way. He can kind of push all that grass down. So when he swings, that backswing has an open. So which is illegal. But then Scheffler comes out afterwards and says like, I know Bryce.

He's like, he doesn't cheat.

He's not a cheater. And so it may look like he's doing that, but he's probably just looking at his angle. But I mean, if you look at the footage, Kevin, he is stomping on that grass.

Rory wasn't having the Scheffler approach. He was like, we don't like each other.

You know, and also it was the clips I was watching was. Will he even show up the next day?

Yeah, they gave him a two stroke penalty.

What do you see first videos in AI where he's got a weed whacker, mowing it down. But no, it definitely looks like. And you know, you can tell when somebody is, like, trying not to be obvious, but they're being obvious. Yeah, that's what it looks like. He's, like, stomping on it but not looking at it, but just kind of, like, stepping around.

He does seem like Bryson. He seems like everything he does is calculated entertainment.

[Bobby Bones]

Very much so. To the point where I think he hired a PR team, from what I heard, to make him more likable when he started doing the YouTube stuff, because he was hated by people that watched, by people he played with. So he started shooting the YouTube videos. Could be wildly inaccurate here, but just the things that I've heard and read. But he hired a team to make him more likable. And so then people started watching his YouTube videos going, I like this guy. He's so relatable. And. But sometimes that stuff trickles out still, like the real him.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

That. He does seem very calculated.

[H]

It's interesting because there's such a magnifying glass on these players during these, like, during these tournaments where Scheffler. There was a moment there at the end, like, the very final day, where he hits it in the rough again, and he's just like, why? Why?

[Bobby Bones]

Like, what are you doing?

[H]

And it was like, no judgment, because we all do that. But he sounded like such a baby, like a little puss that I was just like, I can't believe we're watching this. And I feel for him because, I mean, he was truly frustrated with himself at that point.

[Bobby Bones]

I think Tom Brady is just ruining himself.

[H]

What's he doing?

[Eddie]

I'm done, dude. Done.

[Bobby Bones]

That's your dude at Fanatics Fest. He's there. I got no problem with that. Do your thing. Make your money. But he starts talking about how he can wrestle, and then him and Jake Paul get. Get mouthy on stage and he slaps Jake Paul.

Yeah.

It's so fake. It's all just wrestling. And then it shows them at the World cup flipping each other off.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, continuing to push that. I liked it when Tom Brady was just a Super bowl champion who worked hard, who did everything right, ate his vitamins, said his prayers. That might be Hulk Hogan, but still, it was. Now that we're seeing, like, these layers of him as a person.

[Eddie]

It's bad. Like, I think the majority of people now are on the same page that we've been talking about for a while now, where it's just like, dude, take a break. Go get married again or something. Like, you are bored and you have too much money. Just go do something else for a little bit. Like, Peyton Manning is perfect in a few commercials, you know, does the Manning cast just enough where you're like, yeah, he's still Peyton Manning.

[Bobby Bones]

Peyton Manning also isn't single. And yes, you know, hooking up with influencers. I probably doing the same thing, but no one has any sort of relationship with my identity as being like, soup champion guy. No. Nonsense. He's all nonsense now. Tom Brady's all nonsense.

[Eddie]

Yeah. The slap was so bad.

It's so weird.

[Bobby Bones]

And then they were. When they were flipping each other off, back and forth.

[Eddie]

Yeah. And he's. And Brady sitting with his son, flipping them off with his kid. Yeah.

And I'm not gonna. Whatever. Do whatever you want to do. But it's just not the image that we were fed for so long. So it's so weird now.

Yeah. And it just keeps getting worse and more weird. That's the crazy part.

He needs Bryson's team. Yeah. That PR team needs a PR team to. Yeah. Bring.

So you didn't like his wrestling walkout coffin?

[Bobby Bones]

I didn't mind. The coffin thing was stupid.

Yeah.

Because he comes out the undertaker and he raises up theatrics. Don't mind that. He's just like, look, it's cool. Tom. Tom freaking Brady, great quarterback of all time. But then once it got to the slap and those two and he's like, I tried to whatever it that all the other things he's done too. It's just kind of lame now.

Yeah, he did hit it hard. I was surprised he did that on camera. Like, credit because even to try that, because if you don't hit it hard, everybody's going to post it and you're going to look like a wimp. So he hit it hard.

Yeah. He was an athlete. Yeah, it was good Okay. I moved to Caitlin Clark. She's now the first player in WNBA history with 45 points and 10 assists. She's still on a minutes restriction. I know she was night two anyway from her injury last year, but first player ever. They are completely botching Caitlin Clark. And what? The WNBA does not like her. They do not care. That suspension when she got punched in the throat was only because Adam Silver stepped in and made that commissioner of the WNBA suspend the.

Not people that are fans of wnba. But for a league to grow, you have to have casuals. You have to have casuals. And if you were to ask somebody who doesn't follow the wnba, can you name a WNBA player? They're going to say Kaylin Clark and Rebecca Lobo.

And then you're going to say Rebecca lobo. She retired 20 years ago. And you'll be like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I saw you not on crutches.

Yeah. So over the weekend, did a lot of rest and a lot of recovery. Icing, elevation. And the doctor the other day even told me, he's like, hey, this is day two or three. I was trying to get mri, couldn't get one because insurance has to approve it after three business days. Stupid. But he's like, it's gonna get better, I promise. And like over the weekend, the next couple days, it dramatically got better. As far as the pain and putting weight on. I'm still wearing the brace, still limping, can't put all my weight on it, but I have to walk, like on the outside of my foot. But I'm like, it gives me so much optimism how fast. It's felt much better. But I still have to get an MRI and find out the damage because it's still locked up. I still can't extend my knee and like straighten it.

[Bobby Bones]

What do you think happened?

[Eddie]

A meniscus. They keep saying it's either a meniscus or an mcl, like a tear or sprain, and just don't know the severity until you get an mri.

[H]

So a sprain, they can let that recover on its own. A tear yet to surgery?

[Bobby Bones]

You don't have to have surgery in all of them.

[Eddie]

No.

[Bobby Bones]

Depends on how severe and what part of the knee. But yeah, if it's a sprain, they're gonna do anything. Except say you have to rest this thing for a long time.

[Eddie]

Yeah, maybe. Yeah, a little. Like exercises. But it could be like an arthroscopic surgery like we talked about the other day, or if there's like ACL damage, which it doesn't seem like there is because everything seems like it's pretty much intact, like the big ligaments, then it could be anything from just a little arthroscopic, like 45 minute surgery, you're walking on the same day to something deeper that takes months to recover from.

[H]

And I was trying to explain to my wife what you did, but I really couldn't because I'm like, I don't know, he stepped weird. He was jumping over a creek or something. What happened?

[Eddie]

Creek? No, there's like a ledge in my backyard and there's a table that bumps up against it. And instead of walking around the table, I just like, kind of just leaped over the table. Like it's two feet maybe, and that's it. So as I like launched with my weight, it twisted weird for whatever reason, off of the ledge. And then once I landed, like, I felt the twist. And then once I landed, that's where the pop came and I heard. And then I couldn't put any. Anything on It. Any weight.

[H]

So you injured the one. The leg you were pushing on.

[Eddie]

Pushing on. And then once I landed is like, when it just. Boom, was gone.

[Bobby Bones]

Nothing heals like it used to. That's the part. I don't think you get injured more. I just think when you do, it takes forever to bounce back. For me, that's been the case. If anything is turn sprain if there's a creek or a pop.

How was it? How was the whole game?

It was a great game. And then we ended up winning. There's no better feeling than going as the opposing team and winning because you leave and everybody else is silent.

I don't know. There's so many baseball games. Are people really upset? Were they upset when you guys won?

There was nobody talking and then you just kind of like fist bumped all the other Rangers fans there on the way out. So it's cool.

It was so hot. Luckily we got seats in the shade, but everybody else was dying. Like, I don't know how they still charge you for water at that point because everybody is so hot and sweating. You have kids, like, almost passing out. That's a good thing. And then you have to go pay 14 bucks for two bottles of water. I'm like, this should be free. Or at least buy one, get one.

That's a great point. Because what if somebody gets heat exhaustion?

Yeah.

Because they didn't bring enough money to have water.

There was like water fountains, but the water and that was so boiling hot. Like, nobody's going to get, like, hydrated from that.

If the water's warm, you don't get the hydration.

You do, but no one wants to drink it. Yeah, you're not going to drink it.

Like, when you're outside and it's hot, are you really wanting some warm water?

You don't, but it's hydrating you. It just doesn't feel like it is.

I was thinking about buying one of those machines, but they're pretty cool. I'm just gonna see if they give those guys one. Yeah, they're like seven grand, dude.

They kept talking about the machine, and I was like, oh, I've seen it a million times. But no, this is different. The one with that whole screen, that's a. That's high quality.

Got the timer. It tells you when you make it. I think Ray in his house has one that has like wood backboard and he just shoots this one. But it doesn't move forward and backward. So for a second I thought, should I get in this? But then I'll get obsessed with it and then I'll quit and I'll be like, yeah. And then once I get to the point of I feel like at my peak, I'm like, all right, I've now accomplished this. Moving on. And then I got a $6,000 machine somewhere at the house, just sitting there.

And then you give it away to charity.

We can't go to Mike because you have to be a member only until 1 or 2pm on Friday. I guess we could work until 2.

Usually there's no one there. So we show up and we're walking after, like, 10 minutes. But I've thought about, like, oh, I should invite Bobby because, like, it's only three of us. We can do a foursome. And I'm like, there's no way he's gonna want to walk 18 holes.

I. I probably won't when I walk 18 holes.

[Eddie]

When's the last time you walked 18 holes?

[J]

We can get.

You can get a push cart.

[Bobby Bones]

I've walked enough. But I don't know the last time that I've walked 18 holes. I've walked because, like, I would play these events where, like, Eddie or DJ with Caddy for me.

[Eddie]

Okay.

And we'd walk 18 holes.

[Eddie]

You don't have a car. But not like a muni course where you're just walking for fun.

I do that all the time.

Really? I don't. I don't remember last time I did either. I mean, high school.

I don't think I'm going to. Because you get hit by balls walking. Yeah. Oh, if you're playing a muni course and you're walking, there's balls flying all over the place.

I played with this one guy who's probably in his 50s, and he was walking, but he only had three clubs in his bag. So smart. And his bag was tiny.

So smart.

Because it's not heavy. Dude, I'm pushing like I have a fire.

But you want to play with all the clubs.

Like, what if you need a club that you don't have?
