This is a podcast called 25 Whistles. Talking Football. And they all wear a whistle. Yeah, it's stupid, but what did you expect? It's a podcast. Call 25 whistles.
Eddie
25 whistles.
Bobby Bones
Welcome. Blow it now. We could spend the first 10 minutes talking all about Shitter Sanders, but I feel like if you're coming to us, you don't really care about that. In the same way, if you did care, you'd probably listen to somebody who knows more about what they're talking about. Right? I mean, if you want to go hear. Yeah. YFL there's 100 sports shows.
Eddie
Oh, we don't know. I don't know why he fell. Do you know?
Bobby Bones
Okay. I can talk for a second if you'd like. I have theories, but I think my theories are also based in listening to, like, people that have knowledge of it. So it's the only draft I've watched number one all seventh round. I text Eddie. I never. I will watch round one, the first 10 picks and then just check it on my phone.
Producer
Yep.
Bobby Bones
I watched round one entire and we were on here going, I bet Shadora gets picked second in the second round. Number one pick to the Browns didn't. So I'm like, well, let's just see where he goes. Second round, third round, Night two. Just second and third rounds, I believe. Not fourth. Right. Just second, third. So I watch all the way through, and there's no shitter. And that's the. That's why anybody's watching at this point.
Eddie
Bizarre.
Bobby Bones
And so it comes on at noon, maybe 11, maybe noon Eastern.
Eddie
I think it was noon our time.
Bobby Bones
So I'm on and I'm watching. There we go. Round four, Nothing. So I'm in and then sure gets picked in round five. And I'm still just kind of waiting for yours from Texas because he still hasn't been picked.
Eddie
You watch all the way to the end.
Bobby Bones
I've never done it before. I watched every Pick.
Guest
I kind of forgot about yours.
Bobby Bones
I take this back. I watched every pick until yours to the Dolphins in round seven. And then I turned it off. But I watched every round.
Guest
You might as well just finish it at that point.
Eddie
You were right there.
Bobby Bones
I was over. And I had Arkansas softball on.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
At the same time.
Eddie
Dual TVs.
Bobby Bones
No. I had it on my. No, because I don't want to get up. So I was watching in bed. But I had my phone up on the softball game and then I just turned it off the big screen. Shadur Sanders. Two things cannot be true. But the Internet, you only see the things on the Internet that people are clicking and caring about. Your algorithms will bring it to you. Number one, it wasn't a racial thing. After he didn't get picked in round one, it started to be like, oh, they're holding a black man down. A couple things. One pick. One was black man. And then out of the top five, three weren't white because you had Jaylen Milroe, you had Dylan Gabriel, you had the two white guys, Jackson Dart and Shuck and Cam Ward. So it just wasn't. But that was the narrative that, oh, he's blackballed. He's.
Eddie
That's weird.
Bobby Bones
It's got to be a racial thing as well. It wasn't. The other thing was the other side was yelling, he sucks. He should fall. He also doesn't suck. So. But that was. Those were the two things that were coming front and center because the Internet does. They're going to serve you. Things that are getting a lot of interaction. So that's what you would see. There really wasn't anyone going. I'd like to say that he probably was a little overvalued, was probably getting a little bump because of who his dad was. Definitely wasn't a first round, maybe like a mid second, early third, but definitely doesn't. Sensibility never wins when it comes to the Internet.
Guest
Never.
Bobby Bones
Because the algorithms don't push sensibility forward.
Guest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So he probably was about a late second round pick. But at that point, if you pick somebody that early, they're probably going to have an opportunity to play somewhat early in the first couple rounds. I don't think that the teams that needed a quarterback wanted a quarterback to come in and play early. So why would they waste a second round pick on them? Even the Browns, they made their first pick. It was Dylan Gabriel in round three. So it was what teams needed a quarterback versus what teams needed a quarterback to play right away. Pittsburgh was in the mix the whole time but they're going to have Aaron Rodgers. And also you started to hear and I heard from a couple people that I talked to that not on television that I literally texted and then this started to come out as well that a lot of the interviews that he went into shoulder, he didn't want to go play there because he was like I don't want to play here so I can read you some stuff. Really? Yeah. One of them was like he went in once and like answered a FaceTime call in the middle of the interview.
Guest
Oh my goodness.
Bobby Bones
So it was.
Eddie
But is that lack of knowledge of how to do an interview or just like really I don't want to be here.
Bobby Bones
So yes, he has the pedigree to understand everything about playing collegiate and NFL.
Eddie
Yeah, dad knows what's up.
Bobby Bones
So. And then it became such a story. It became Tebow esque, meaning whomever got him even if it was going to be the eighth string quarterback, that's all people were going to talk about. And so yeah, it had to be an organization that was willing to deal with that because now you're going to draft a backup quarterback but the backup quarterback is going to bring in all this attention and so you better have a starting quarterback that it's not going to phase. But then if you're the Chiefs, you already got it back. All the teams that have a tier A quarterbacks, they don't need, they don't, they don't need even need a backup. I thought it might be Seattle for a second because Seattle made a move. You know Seattle got, they went to Minnesota and got Sam Darnold but then Seattle ended up drafting from Alabama, Jaylen Miller. And so that was before.
Eddie
So they're covered.
Bobby Bones
So the quarterbacks, the teams that needed a backup quarterback got theirs and the Browns were just like fifth round. Like what do we have to lose? I guess if we can get through the Deshaun Watson stuff.
Eddie
The worst of the worst.
Bobby Bones
And they keep acting like Deshaun Watson is going to be in the quarterback room. The dude's never playing for Cleveland again. First of all, torn Achilles. By the way, shout out Dame Lillard towards Achilles last night. Done.
Guest
That sucked.
Bobby Bones
Sucked. Yesterday though. Sidebar One of the greatest first round NBA playoff days I've ever seen. Just the day, the day yesterday and the day before. But the Lakers losing. That was stupid because Luka got tripped. I was watching that. Yeah, Luke got tripped. That was stupid. Although Reef shouldn't have fouled on. Did you guys watch it in the game?
Eddie
A little bit. I Mean, it was. I was at the airport and I kind of see it at the bar from a distance.
Bobby Bones
And then he also missed a shot, but Luka got tripped for sure. The Denver and Clipper series is one of the greatest. First round series Saturday.
Guest
That game was nuts.
Bobby Bones
Yep.
Guest
That was the first game I've watched outside the Celtics like from beginning to end.
Bobby Bones
And now, you know, they couldn't tell if Gordon pulled his fingers off the ball in time. And so it was one of those where they couldn't reverse it because they called it on, but they finally found an over the top view. His finger is off the ball. It is, yeah. They finally found a camera from over, which they didn't have because they literally called it because it was so close they couldn't reverse it, which is the general rule. But he also was fouled going out. They didn't call the foul, but his finger was off the ball. They have like a camera coming straight down.
Guest
Oh, I didn't see that one.
Bobby Bones
I didn't see it.
Eddie
I feel like an intern at some point be like, hey guys, we do have another camera looking up, down, looking down from the top.
Bobby Bones
Wow.
Guest
Guys, guys.
Eddie
What do you want?
Bobby Bones
Jimmy, do you think Jokic air balled it or threw it up because it looked like he was shooting.
Guest
Yeah, I think he airballed it only because his reaction, he was pissed. He looked pissed after the game. They just won. And I think he's mad because he's like, did I really just airball?
Bobby Bones
And they may have said that I didn't watch any of the post game. It was awesome. Yeah. That's the craziest buzzer beater I've ever seen. There was another buzzer beater dunk I've seen, which was the Suns when deandre Ayton with like two seconds left dunked it. Game was over. In a playoff game. That's cool because on an inbound a couple years ago. But this was. This is. This was awesome. And then freaking the nick. I watched a lot of basketball.
Eddie
I can see that.
Bobby Bones
Friggin next went by one Carl Anthony Towns.
Guest
Yeah. And Tim Hardaway Jr. Yeah.
Eddie
Right.
Guest
For the Pistons.
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Guest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So a good game. Basketball anyway.
Guest
Celtics. Nothing about Celtics. Did you watch that one?
Bobby Bones
No, I just expect them to win. I think Orlando is going to be good in the future. But Orlando is kind of like Detroit where there's getting a little taste right now. They play hard and they're good enough to play in the playoffs and get a little taste because they'll be back. Some teams you don't want to because you'd rather them lose and have a better pick. But I do think there is something to these teams that can play a little bit and get. I think this is going to be great for Detroit for these guys to get in. They're mixing it up with the Knicks. It's a difficult series. I think this is going to be great. Cade Cunningham's awesome. First time I've really watched him on national television. I'll flip through and do NBA Sunday Ticket and watch them sometimes, but then he's awesome. This is a Brunson, by the way, is so freaking good. The fact that I would say the fact that Dallas got like, told him he could go on his merry way. Well, Dallas, it kind of makes sense now.
Guest
Now it all makes sense.
Eddie
So what about the Thunder, though?
Bobby Bones
Elite and called it, but they did play game four and jaw was out and Scotty Pippen Jr. Scored over 30 points. He played his. Played his brains out. But yeah, they did win four in a row.
Eddie
What's up? What's up? I'm just saying we're on pace, man. We're on pace.
Bobby Bones
I love it. I also, but I think the Thunder are going to. I. I know they're going to. The Thunder will play the winner of the Denver and the Clips and that's. They're going to be so tired.
Eddie
Yeah, I know. They're going to be exhausted. And the Thunder. We've just been chilling.
Bobby Bones
You're not a weed. I'm a bigger fan than you are.
Eddie
I got a thong on the line, dude.
Diana Rossini
It's a wee.
Bobby Bones
That's true. That's true. So the shitter thing everybody's talked about, I think it ended up being. He wasn't regarded by the NFL as high as we were led to believe by the media. Secondly, he got to a point where you're not going to draft him that early if you're not going to play him. So we'll let him fall. And he got so there's like a purgatory where he wasn't worth the pick, but then he got so low that.
Eddie
He was just a value pick just sitting there, man.
Bobby Bones
It's crazy what the Browns are doing. So they have. They have five quarterbacks, but I don't think they should. When they do the picture, they shouldn't put Watson up there. He's not playing right. But it's Flacco who was on the show Friday. Check it out. It's Kenny Pickett who is talking about. He came to start Kenny Pickett's like, I'm here to start. So we'll see. Remember he was a first round draft pick from Pittsburgh to Pittsburgh. He played at Pittsburgh.
Eddie
See how the little hands.
Guest
And then played at Pittsburgh.
Bobby Bones
And then played at. Yes, played at Pittsburgh. He had little hands, but so did Will Campbell with little arms. And he's like my favorite from the draft. Dude. Yeah, I gotta tell you, I love that. It's not. Offensive line pick is not sexy. But I also didn't put two and two together. That Will Campbell was the guy talking about Amazon and that clip that went viral like weeks ago.
Guest
So good.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Like, I love that dude. Yeah, I draft him.
Eddie
What do you say about Amazon?
Bobby Bones
He said if you're a defensive lineman and you give up a. Or if you're an offense, if you're a defensive lineman, you get a sack a game, you're going to the league. If you're an offensive lineman, you give up a sack a game, you're gonna go work at Amazon.
Eddie
Oh, that is funny.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Guest
And I remember no disrespect to Amazon guys, by the way.
Eddie
Just telling you, we're not gonna be in the league.
Guest
I heard that Vrabel worked him out when he visited and went one on one with him, full pads and everything. And he knocked Brable down.
Bobby Bones
I thought that was a joke. No, you're saying. Yeah, I saw that. That Brable put pads on, suited up, thought they were kidding.
Guest
No, he knocked him down and very well was like, I love this guy.
Eddie
Is there video of this or does it just.
Guest
No, no. What's his name son wasn't there to film it. You know.
Bobby Bones
Hey, so I'll mention. Let me talk about that for a second.
Eddie
Jokes are flying now.
Bobby Bones
The prank call. Yeah, I get it.
Eddie
Like funny but.
Bobby Bones
So here's the thing about the prank call. People are acting like they were calling Shadura because he was on an organ donor list waiting for a kidney.
Eddie
Right.
Bobby Bones
They're like, I feel so bad for him. It's. What a disaster. Was it mean spirited? Yes, a little bit. But they're idiot kids. But also they're acting like he's there waiting for a heart transplant and they're flying in the heart in a chopper and they're letting him know that it.
Eddie
Landed and that he's gonna live.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And someone calls like, we got your heart, Shadur. And he's. Yes, just kidding. No, it's that you didn't get drafted by the NFL. You're already super famous, a multimillionaire. You're going to get put on a team at some point. It wasn't as mean as everybody's acting like. And what prank call supposed to be wholesome?
Eddie
None. Yeah, none. It's always mean spirited. But. But at the same time, though, it is a big moment. I know Shador's rich. I know he comes from a family with lots of money and opportunity, but, like, this is a big deal for him.
Bobby Bones
But if you're that cocky and that loud and that brash, I think other people are going to also try to be that cocky, that loud and that brash back towards you. It's just part of the game. I wouldn't have done it. It was a bit mean spirited.
Eddie
Funny, though.
Bobby Bones
I don't even know that I felt it was funny.
Eddie
Did you not laugh when you first saw it?
Bobby Bones
I just. No, I didn't. I didn't. But I didn't think it was like this natural, this earthquake, a tsunami that killed 500 people. Like, they were acting like.
Eddie
Of course not. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Voltaire said, I may not agree with you, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it. I feel this way about this call now. It just turns out it was an idiot kid whose dad is on the Falcons. Is it a defensive coordinator?
Eddie
Coordinator, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Don't be in the video. Dude making the call.
Eddie
I know it.
Bobby Bones
He's sitting in the background.
Eddie
I know it.
Bobby Bones
He got the. From the dad's iPad.
Eddie
Their kids, they're like, dude, you'll never believe what I have. You have the number. We gotta do this. And then they post it.
Bobby Bones
It is not a big a deal as everybody's making it out to be.
Eddie
But even like, you know, Shador releasing the video, their side of the video, and. And just kind of like the way everyone handled it, it's kind of. Everyone's okay with it. I don't think anyone's really hurt.
Bobby Bones
No. The media's acting like it's the meanest thing ever in the history of mean things.
Eddie
Well, I think people are just watching it and saying, like, that's. That's mean.
Bobby Bones
But how about answering FaceTimes and meetings that created the environment to where that could even happen? Where you're sitting there, wait, it doesn't matter. A kid shouldn't have done it. But I'm never going to come down on a prank caller, even if I felt like it was kind of mean. I've done a lot of prank calls on my day.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And nobody got hurt from it. No, nobody got hurt from it.
Eddie
And according to Shador, it didn't Hurt his feelings. He's used to it. He's cool with it.
Bobby Bones
People are just like. They act like they killed somebody's puppy. It's so wrong. It's so mean. Again, if it had been something like, I know you're waiting for this money to come through so you can pay for your child's surgery. Just kidding. Haha. That's mean. Because actually it's affecting their life. This isn't. Everybody needs to just chill out.
Eddie
I mean, Shador could have worked at Amazon.
Bobby Bones
Could have. I want to give you a couple things here. I just saved some images from different tweets I saw from over the draft and I wanted to go through them. I've had like six of them, one by one. Number one from David Cohn Coyne Ubers was a perfect 1000 recruit learned under Steve Sarkeesian and made two college football playoffs. Still undrafted. Will Howard is the reigning national champion who threw for 4,000 yards on 73% passing. Still undrafted. This is during the draft. Kyle McCord led the nation 4,779 yards. Still undrafted. Dylan Gabriel threw for 18,722 yards in college and got drafted 94th. The NFL isn't engaged in a conspiracy against Shitter Sanders. You just like watching his dad play now. This is in response to Stephen A. Smith saying this feels like Kaepernick level collusion.
Eddie
Oh yeah.
Bobby Bones
And. And they were like, how can you throw for this many yards? And they just. But they listed everybody who out threw him and they were like, well, they haven't been drafted either.
Eddie
Yeah, that race stuff's ridiculous.
Bobby Bones
Rick Neuheisel. Well, in this instance it is.
Eddie
That's what I'm talking about.
Bobby Bones
I want you to get chopped up. I want you to get chopped up. Yeah.
Eddie
Just be clear.
Bobby Bones
Producer Eddie quote, racism.
Eddie
No, I didn't say racism.
Bobby Bones
Rick Neuheisel enlightened listeners on Sirius XM's Full Ride show on the college sports radio channel this morning. This is from Javier Morales that an NFL coach. Here you go. Told him Shedeur took a personal call and possibly a FaceTime during an interview with an NFL coach. Instead of ending the FaceTime call, he stayed on it during the interview. What?
Eddie
That's ballsy.
Bobby Bones
Scheder has yet to be selected through the first two rounds. The next one from BetMGM. And so first they quoted Chip Brown from Austin who does horn.
Eddie
Yeah, Longhorn something.
Bobby Bones
One of those message reports. Chip Brown, 24 7, said, Bleed orange.
Eddie
Bleed bloods.
Bobby Bones
Orange bloods, maybe Something like that.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So an older Tweet was, Texas Longhorn quarterback Quinn Euros turned down an $8 million nil offer to transfer and then decided to declare for the 2025 draft. BetMGM writes, Quinn, yours turned on 8 million in IL. Now he'll make 4 million over four years as a seventh round pick. It's 4 mil over four years. It's 1 mil a year. It's $450,000. Well, Florida has good tax. Good tax. So half a million bucks. But you're talking about 8 million one year for one year.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Versus 1 million for one year.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So it's not 4 million even versus 8 million. It's 1 million versus 8 million.
Eddie
Yeah. Big cut. And what do you mean by Florida taxes? Like, what do you mean by that?
Bobby Bones
No income tax in Tennessee. Florida state.
Eddie
State income tax.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Okay, gotcha.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Tennessee, Florida. There's a few of those states. Another one, because Mel Kuiper Jr. He was off his rocker a little bit when he was talking, first of all, the whole draft starts, and he's like, my number one is Sanders. But then he kept not getting picked. And then when he did, he was just. He was so mad. He was just ranting about it. You tell it was personal to him. And Mel Kuyper goes. For 50 years, the NFL had no idea how to evaluate quarterbacks. And so Andrew Filippini said here, and it was Mel Kuiper, and it was him ranking Forrest lamp at number 18 over Patrick Mahomes.
Eddie
That's funny. Digging some good stuff there.
Bobby Bones
So he's like, the NFL doesn't, but he also has struggled with his, which everybody does. Let me see if there's any other ones here.
Guest
Part of the whole process.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Yes, I agree. But he was. It was very personal to him. And also, I like Deion Sanders. He's awesome. I was hoping she got drafted, but then it just turned into, like, a car wreck. You're just watching to see what happens.
Eddie
I know.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Eddie
Did you feel bad for him a little bit, though, as he was dropping, or.
Bobby Bones
No, because I felt like whatever was happening was probably due to his actions. And sometimes that learning lesson is way better in the long run than if you don't pay it now, eventually you'll have to pay it. I think it's cheaper to pay it now than in the future.
Eddie
Yeah, that's good.
Bobby Bones
So I did not feel bad for him.
Guest
That's good.
Bobby Bones
Let me knock that off. Lawrence Taylor won't unretire his number, which is hilarious. And nor do I think people should have to Unretire. But quick question. Who the Giants draft.
Eddie
The Giants drafted Scatter Boo.
Bobby Bones
No. Yes. Later. Yes, later. They did. Yes. Kevin Abdul Carter. Correct. And Abdul Carter was like, hey, I wear 56 for the Giants. And Lawrence Taylor was like, no, go to zero or something. Make your own name.
Guest
I love that.
Bobby Bones
I think if he wants to have wear 56, I think Lawrence Taylor should be cool. And if he's, like, dominant. Dominant in two years, you go, hey, listen, if you want to wear it, earn it. I'll let you wear it in two years if you're killing it, because then you can continue the legacy.
Guest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But I agree with him. Not doing it right now.
Guest
Yeah. Too many guys are like, yeah, I'll give it up. I don't care.
Eddie
What's the point of retiring a number?
Guest
Exactly.
Eddie
It's gone. That number is gone.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Numbers gone.
Guest
Celtics can't really get any new numbers these days.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Guest
They have so many retired.
Bobby Bones
Everybody's retired.
Eddie
They're gonna have to go to triple digits.
Guest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I saw when the Browns ended up drafting because they drafted Mason Graham. Yeah, Mason Graham at 3 from Michigan. And he goes in afterward, and they have the cameras on him when they're finding out what number he wants. And he goes, can I get some number? He's like, nah, somebody has it. He goes, oh, man. Can I, you know, what's the deal? Can I, like, pay him? He's like, we can ask. And so he ends up being asking for, like, 95. Because I think Miles Garrett's 94.
Guest
No, Miles is 95.
Bobby Bones
Okay. So whatever the one is, is the other one. Yeah. So he goes, then I'll take 94 for now. And he's going to try to buy the other one from the other player. And it was just fun to watch, like, how that happens because they had the cameras on him when he went in. Yeah.
Eddie
You never think.
Bobby Bones
And the guy was like, you can have 50 through 60 or any of the 90s numbers. And he goes, how about. And he goes, nope, taking. You can buy it if he'll let you. We can call him. And if not, we can't make your jerseys even to sell until we have for sure your number. So he goes, my backup number will be 94. Okay, whatever. Miles Garrett was the one next to him.
Guest
Gotcha.
Bobby Bones
That's pretty cool.
Eddie
So when he buys it. Buys it from who?
Bobby Bones
The player.
Eddie
So the player gets the money for it.
Bobby Bones
That's cool. It was like Jimmy Claussen wanted to charge Cam Newton a million bucks back in the day for the number oh, you never saw his story?
Eddie
No one.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Cam still pissed about it, huh? Because it's like your Jimmy Clausen.
Guest
And you better hope that. I mean, what if it's like a player that might not even make the team next year? What if you're like, hey, come on, man.
Bobby Bones
That I don't think is a deal. If it's a vet, it's a deal. But also, if they may not make the team, they'll take way less money too, because they need the money.
Guest
True.
Bobby Bones
They'll take $50,000 or somebody for real won't.
Eddie
Yeah. So the jersey they give them in the draft, you know, like the commish. That's not their number.
Bobby Bones
No. Because everybody's like number one.
Eddie
I think they're all one.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I think so.
Eddie
Makes sense.
Bobby Bones
I do want to do two other quick clips. The Bill Belichick interview was really weird because they're interviewing him on CBS and now they say that his girlfriend Jordan, who's like 24, interrupted the interview multiple times because she's like running his pr. But they asked a question and she jumped in. And they put this in the interview. Would you play it, please? You have Jordan right over there. Everybody in the world seems to be following this relationship. They've got an opinion about your private life. It's got nothing to do with them.
DraftKings Announcer
But they're invested in it.
Bobby Bones
How do you deal with that?
Eddie
Never been too worried about what everybody else thinks.
Bobby Bones
Just try to do what I feel.
Eddie
Like is best for me and what's right.
Bobby Bones
How did you guys meet? Not talking about this.
Eddie
No, no.
Bobby Bones
It's a topic neither one of them is comfortable commenting on. And she's back in the back. She's on camera, she yells at. It's starting to feel like that story about how they met on a plane ain't true.
Eddie
Uh huh. She shut that down real quick.
Bobby Bones
It's starting to feel like they probably met somewhere where older men can meet younger women. Yeah.
Eddie
Use your imagination.
Bobby Bones
I don't know that's true or not, but it feels like that.
Guest
But if you're gonna have a story like the plane, might as well just stick to it, right?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And then talk about it when they ask and just give an answer and then move on.
Eddie
That's a good point.
Bobby Bones
That makes this so much bigger.
Eddie
Yeah, right.
Bobby Bones
I'll give you one more clip. This catcher puts his glove back to take the ball after like a foul ball. Puts the glove back and the umpire takes the ball and he's gonna drop it in the catcher's glove. Because it's just like, all right, put your glove back. The catcher doesn't see the umpire. He doesn't think he's putting his the ball in his glove. So the catcher puts his glove down. Umpire puts the glove and drops it. Looks like the catcher pulled his glove out from the umpire to show him up. He didn't. Catcher didn't see it. Ump throws him out immediately.
Producer
Whoa.
Bobby Bones
Crazy. Ump was a total D bag here. Go ahead, real quick.
Guest
Did Mike tell you this is from 2023?
Bobby Bones
Nope. Got tricked. Yep. Okay.
Eddie
That's tick tock, though.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Hit it anyway. I have another one after this one, but go ahead.
Eddie
Okay. Kimbrough says, I don't like that column. Now here's the action right here. And the umpire felt like Ramil to took his grandma out of the way. And I think he real nuto didn't sense that the ball was on its way, so he just figured the umpire was throwing it back to the mound. Now, on the prior exchange, the umpire.
Bobby Bones
Threw it out to Kimbrough. So. All right, you don't feel the ball get nestled into your glove.
DraftKings Announcer
So he wasn't even looking back at the umpire.
Bobby Bones
He just pulled his glove down. Crazy. And didn't know it was 2023. But the reason I pulled that clip was because LSU hits a home run to win the game. College game. Like, I don't know if it's a grand slam, but wins the game. And the guy's staring at it. The umpire gets on him at the end. He's like, you need to run. And he's like, I'm looking at it. And the ups like, you need to run. It's crazy. Like, chill out.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah.
Guest
Why do they got to do that?
Bobby Bones
Chill out. Okay, that's it. We're coming back. Diana Rossini coming on in just a second, so we'll talk with her. Big fan of her. She is an NFL insider for the Athletic. And now here is senior NFL Insider for the Athletic Diana Rossini. Diana worked at ESPN for almost a decade. Went over to the Athletic a few years ago. She was on top of all the Shadow Sanders and sliding in the draft and she wrote an article about the prank call. Big fan of hers. You can follow her on Social DM Rossini to keep up with her and check out her work and we'll tell you about her podcast in just a minute. Here she is, Diana Rossini Hey Diana, first of all, I'm a big fan. It's weird how you can become a fan of somebody just by watching TikTok clips. But like when you do appearances or even like on the part my take like I've become a big fan of not only your writing but also like you as a personality. So super cool to come on. So thank you very much.
Diana Rossini
Same we've never met. I know of you. I've listened to you.
Bobby Bones
No way.
Diana Rossini
Everywhere. I've hear of you everywhere. So I am so glad that that we're able to connect. And thank you so much for the kind words about all the ridiculousness that I've compiled over the last 1015 years of being in sports media.
Bobby Bones
Well I do want to start with I think this is the only draft or I think I watched all the way until the Dolphins picked in round seven because the Shadura Stuff kept me to five once he was picked. And then I stayed all the way until, like, the final quarterback that we thought was going to go early, or at least earlier than round seven, was taken off the board. This possibly could have been the highest rated draft ever. Right? There was so much interest, even the late rounds.
Diana Rossini
Yeah, look, headed into this, everyone around the league was saying to me, this is the dullest draft. There's not a lot of talent, there's no big names. Especially because we were comparing it to last year where we had six quarterbacks go in the top 12 picks. It was incredible. And I mean, we were debating last year who the best quarterbacks were, and I was getting a range of different answers. And, um, it just had so much juice last year. And then, voila, this year turns out to be just as exciting. And. And look, a lot of it had to do with the fact that Shador Sanders was essentially plummeting when there was an expectation that he would land somewhere. At least there were some people saying that they thought he would land in the first round, some that said the second, Some said he would slide to the bottom of the second. I don't think anyone was predicting the slide that it turned out to be. And that kept the attention because everyone wanted to know who was going to take Shador, would he even get drafted. So I think that narrative there certainly helped the attention spans, because at the end of the day, I know it's football, but it's a TV show. And this. This pretty much came together perfectly for the league.
Bobby Bones
I have a bias, so. And I know Coach prime and we work together a bunch, so I love him. And so I. Up front, I have a big bias. But after Shidur didn't get picked in round one and then round two, it almost was. If you couldn't pick him for a minute because you have to draft a backup quarterback. Right. I mean, don't you think there was that purgatory ground where it just would have been weird to take him in, like, round three or four?
Diana Rossini
I believe that. I look at it the same way. And even just having some conversations this morning with some teams that were poking around on it and they were unsure and even look at Cleveland, right? I mean, they. They don't even take him as the first quarterback that they pick. They wait. And I can tell you, Bobby, they didn't have Shador high on their quarterback board headed into this. So it's not like this was the plan the whole time. I think he's at 5, they meet, they have conversations, and they go, we gotta take a shot here. Like, he can play. Like, in terms of what he was doing on the football field, the talent is there. I just think some of the. Something happened between the end of his season and the start of this draft. And when you take a look at that time of year, that's usually when you're meeting the player. That's usually when you're getting to know him more and you're. And you're having those visits. And I had one GM say to me, I think Shador made the mistake of approaching these visits as a recruiting trip versus a job interview. And there's a difference. And especially in the NFL, when GMs and head coaches and personnel, people want to hear that you are hungry to learn, that you've done the work that you did, the homework that you were asked to do before the meeting and you were prepared. And I'm curious, and I'm working on it now to find out how much of that fell through, you know, fell through the cracks here and changed the overall thought and opinion of who Shadora is.
Bobby Bones
Quinn Ewers went to the Dolphins in round seven. I thought he would go higher than seven. I think he did, too, because he could have trans and made millions of dollars in the portal. Do you think he regrets that now? Or if you get drafted four and beyond, it's not like a big guaranteed contract anyway. Do you think he just wanted to get his NFL career started, much like these NBA kids will do, just so they can hopefully get to that second contract?
Diana Rossini
Yeah, and that's always the intent there. Look, I think this the world of the nil. It's the Wild west right now. One of the questions I like to ask agents is, how are they learning about it? Because I'm learning about anyone that covers football right now. This is new. And the agents are even learning on the fly of how they can profit the most and help their clients and even coaches and just that the entire college world has changed. So look, at the end of the day, most of these players, I understand they want to make a lot of money, but most of them have the dreams of playing in the NFL. At the end of the day, that's what it's about. That's why they're playing the game. So I don't fault him. He will find a way to make money. I mean, maybe we'll revisit this conversation in five years and be like, well, he should have stayed in college, but. But for now, I understand his decision making. And how do you not hope for the best, for the kid.
Bobby Bones
Somebody that I came away from the draft liking more, and then I think maybe my algorithm just fed him to me was Will Campbell. But leading up to it, it was also, Will Campbell has little arms, but that's not talked about at all now. But his clips are so funny. And I totally see now why a guy who used to live here when he coached the Titans, Variable, would draft a guy like that to go to New England.
Diana Rossini
Do you think Mike Vrabel heard Will Campbell say, I would die for my quarterback and had any thought in his mind that he made a mistake? That is a Mike Vrabel player through and through. And granted, he plays a position that's not exactly exciting and electric, but. But it's a need. I had someone say to me once, you got to eat your vegetables. Sometimes when you're building these teams and the New England Patriots are eating their vegetables in terms of this draft and filling in the holes and the spots that they need. And look from Brable's perspective, too, because as you know, as someone that. That watched the Titans as much as you did, it was very clear who they were. Right. You never wondered, who are the Tennessee titans? They were 1000% their head coach's personality. They were tough. They were relentless. And New England is learning right now how to be that. He is trying to establish it. And so it makes a lot of sense to bring in a player. And so as soon as I saw Will Campbell's response to being picked and he said that, like, well, they obviously knew that this is what this kid was all about, because in. In order for them to figure out their identity as a team, you got to get these. You got to get the right guys in the locker room. And Will Campbell just. He would just make so much sense and a pretty sharp suit, too.
Bobby Bones
Were you surprised the Cowboys did nothing splashy?
Diana Rossini
I thought that they were going to trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for George Pickens. I thought that would pick up speed because there were some conversations that were going down. I know that the Steelers were making calls. They were talking to different teams. Teams are calling them. And I thought that that would be the splashy thing that Jerry did because, remember a week ago, he said he was doing something splashy. I don't think he used the word splashy. He used a different word, but it was like, hey, like, chill, everyone. I'm gonna do this. And I always give Jerry Jones tons of leeway for the draft because they are phenomenal drafting players. That is what they do well. Contracts, they don't do well, in my opinion. I mean, I don't understand the philosophy of how they do it. I still can't figure it out after all these years of covering them, of why they wait so long to pay their players. But I usually allow the Cowboys to do what they need to do this time of year because they're, they're so good at it. But I didn't come away from this draft going, this made sense. I see why they did it. I thought we were going to get some rock star player on offense for them, and we just didn't walk away with that.
Bobby Bones
I'll talk about Ben Johnson with the Bears for a second because obviously he brings in a whole new offense and hopefully he's able to make Caleb Williams what we think Caleb Williams is. But he drafted a tight end, a wide receiver. It seems like they're going to go pretty often. Like, is that, is that the plan? Like, load up the offense and just let the defense figure it out?
Diana Rossini
Bobby, this is called I am the new head coach of this team named Ben Johnson, and I want to be able to open my playbook and do whatever the heck I want to do. That's what this is. Right? So he did a really good job in free agency of building up the trenches, giving him that offensive line, knowing that Caleb was taking a lot of hits last year, needs more time, and the next step is to give them those weapons. And that's what I, that's why I would put Chicago up there with some of my favorite moves from the weekend because they know they've got the guy they can. They just need to find ways to bring the best out of him. So to go offense makes all the sense of the world. And you have a phenomenal play caller in Ben Johnson. So if you continue to give him all these tools, he's just going to continue to cook up all the stuff that we saw him do in Detroit. So it's smart football. Don't get cute, don't overthink it. And that's how I think Chicago is really running things these days.
Bobby Bones
There was a show called Kids do the Darndest Things back in the day and a couple different hosts. I mean, Bill Cosby was one host. That was weird. But you know, when they'd have kids on, they say funny things. I kind of felt that way watching the Jaguars general manager talk. And you know, he was talking about, you know, you know, FM picks and he did trade up and gave away a first round pick next year to get Travis Hunter. Did you feel Travis Hunter was worth that.
Diana Rossini
Yeah. I was surprised Cleveland moved off it. First of all, I really thought that Cleveland wanted a stick. I know that that deal was in place for over two weeks. My colleague Mike Silver, he's probably one of the best sports writers on planet Earth. He was in the war room with the Jags. So his article is going to come out on the Athletic in a couple days here. And I spoke to him over the phone yesterday, just about everything he witnessed. And he's like, look like they want to make a bold move. They wanted to do that. It's why they, it's why they made this decision to give up what they did. Because it is very apparent. It is very clear based on the contract and even just the way they support Trump Trevor Lawrence that they want this to work. And you bring in a guy like Liam Cohen, you pay him the kind of money you're paying him for a first year head coach, it's because you are putting all your chips in here that this has to work. So much like Chicago, they're basically just giving Trevor the things that he needs. And you, you're not going to lose when you're invested in a player, you know, like Hunter, who's going to play both sides of the ball here. That's what the Jacks told him. Now, look, he's, he's better at receiver from, from what I can gather from what people have told me around the league. So this is a guy who's going to be out there for, for 100 snaps a game at least to be part of this. So, yeah, the question of, is he, Is he worth it? Looks we don't know. That's the beauty of the draft is like we think. But I know Cleveland feels good. They made the right decision for, for the price that they got back.
Bobby Bones
Have two final questions. One, if you're gonna make a prank call and you have a number that you shouldn't have, should you not be on video? Like, that's what I was thinking while watching because he, he's sitting in the background of the video where they're making the prank call. And you wrote an article on it yesterday. Like, don't be in the video. First of all, don't do the prank call, whatever. But kids do stupid stuff. But don't be in the video. That was what was. Blew me away.
Diana Rossini
I know, but the whole thing, I cover Jeff Ulbricht when he was with the New York jets, and he's really well liked in the league, by the way. Just, he's just one of Those good overall people. And he's got some family dynamics that, some stuff that they've got going on personally. And I, I can tell you just from talking to people close to him yesterday, they were, they were pretty crushed that their son did that because it was mean spirited. And it's, it's one thing to make a bad decision and, and not know it or maybe not intentions or maybe just not looking at it the right way, but they knew exactly what they were doing and, and that's the mistakes. The mistake was made, it was caught on video. They admitted they came out, they apologize. And now you just hope over the next few days that he can survive emotionally and mentally just the, the kickback he's getting. Right? Because. Bobby, have you ever been in the center of something on social media? I, I have, unfortunately, so many times and it's like a, a freaking tidal wave and you feel like the whole world hates you and you, your head can go into some bad places. So I'm hoping for him because he's so young and he doesn't get that, yes, this was a mistake and this was bad, but it'll pass and he's gonna be way more than just this. But I gave credit for Shador to Shador, for taking the call and, and accepting that apology, it appears. But yeah, I think just like in anything in 2025, phones have changed at all. Right? Think. Remember when we were younger? Could you imagine the stuff we did was on video?
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah. I just wouldn't have been in the video. I'd have done it, but I wouldn't have been in the video. But yeah, yeah, I don't know if.
Diana Rossini
I would have done it.
Bobby Bones
I.
Diana Rossini
Man, I'm a lot. Bobby, you don't know me that way. I am a lot of things. I could be a pain. I'm tough, I'm relentless. I'm exhausting to be around, but I'm not mean. And that was mean to just play games like that. And, and look, they're going to look back on that one day and I'm sure they're going to regret that if they haven't already.
Bobby Bones
Final question for you. Do you ever hop into, like, I don't know, pick up basketball or pick up soccer games and just dominate and people are like, how they had no idea that you're like an elite athlete.
Diana Rossini
Did my brother, did someone in my family send that question in?
Producer
No.
Diana Rossini
Yes. They make fun of me for that.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I know. I would think you would surprise the crap out of people if you just hopped in playing basketball or soccer, and they're like, what is happening right now?
Diana Rossini
Okay, so my husband will play Bruce Springsteen's Glory Days in my house just to mock how I crave winning all the time. And I can't always win in my industry. Right. Like, sports media is so hard. Breaking news is hard, and I get some victories here and there, but the only place that I can dominate is on a field. So that is what I do to sort of tap in and feed the ego. That. That is really should not be there anymore, by the way. At 42 years old with two kids, I should not be on any field. But, yeah, I. I'm still living. I peaked in high school, so I think that's probably why I tap back into that so much.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, but you also played collegiate soccer, didn't you? I did.
Diana Rossini
I did. I played George Mason.
Bobby Bones
That's not peaking in high school means you don't go play anywhere. I have. Listen, I peaked in high school athletically. I. I didn't play in college, though. You played at George Mason. That's a real life, like, Sport School, Division 1 school.
Diana Rossini
Yeah, they totally kept me on the team just because they needed somebody that would punch another person in the face.
Bobby Bones
You were an enforcer.
Diana Rossini
I was an enforcer, and my coach told me that. He's like, you. We need somebody who can just be scrappy. My teammates were these, like, stunningly beautiful, first of all, just like, aesthetically beautiful women. But their. Their soccer style was. Was. Was also beautiful. They didn't have a lot of grit because they were from the south, and that was just the type of soccer they learned. Whereas in New Jersey, it's. It's like you punch the person in the face first, then you kick the ball. So they took advantage of that in a lot of our scheme of use, my aggressiveness to try to get us goals.
Bobby Bones
And it worked a lot before you came on. We mentioned this, but I want to mention it again. Host a Scoop city show about the NFL. It's you and Chase Daniel talking about the league. And then also the article on. With Shur on the prank call. I read and you write for the Athletic, which I subscribe to. So, yeah, I'm in. In many ways, so it's super cool. Thank you so much for your time and. Yeah, keep doing it. And I'm a big fan. And, yeah, you have such a. Such a distinct voice. Not like your physical voice, but, like how you approach and how you share your feelings on sports. So. So thank you. And it's been real cool to talk with you.
Diana Rossini
Thank you so much. A huge fan of yours as well and thank you for having me on and hopefully in the season I'll hop back on, we'll talk some more.
Bobby Bones

All right, that's it. We're going to play our Dylan Gabriel interview after the end because we've already aired this once. But we went and talked to Dylan Gabriel when he was about to play for Oregon for the first time. So I thought that'd be fun to play back.
Eddie
That's pretty awesome.
Bobby Bones
Now he's an NFL quarterback, one of the nine. I'd have been so mad if they drafted a quarterback after me, especially a more famous one. That is so annoying. Yes. Thank you guys. So we'll end this here, but as soon as we're done, we'll play the Dylan Gabriel interview that we did from the facility in Oregon. I just thought it was fun to play again. So that's it. Thank you guys for listening and we will see you later on this week. It'll be Reed's last show ever.
Eddie
Oh, man. So sad. Gonna miss him.
Bobby Bones
That'll be it. All right. That's it for us. Blow it. We'll see you guys later on this week. Bye, everybody. Dylan, thanks for the time.
Producer
Of course.
Bobby Bones
Have you played NCAA football yet?
Producer
I have.
Bobby Bones
With you.
Producer
I have not, actually.
Bobby Bones
You haven't used you on the game?
Producer
I haven't. I've seen me, but I haven't used third person me.
Bobby Bones
That would be the first thing. That's all I would do. I would only. I'll play no defense, only offense.
Producer
Interesting enough.
Bobby Bones
What are you using? Are you rebuilding?
Producer
I random team. I random team a little bit. But I played three games against Evan Stewart. He's my neighbor. So quick little walk through the back door and then play the game.
Bobby Bones
So how do you feel about your positioning? Because you're like top quarterback on the game.
Producer
Yeah. I think the only thing I have a problem with is the speed being at 81.
Bobby Bones
Oh, it's slow on you.
Producer
I would have took 85 or 86, but I'm grateful either way.
Bobby Bones
How's the time been up here so far in Oregon?
Producer
A lot of fun. A lot of rain early, but a lot of sun now and just good people. So I appreciate that and just been having a lot of fun doing it.
Bobby Bones
When you pack up and you move up here, do you do a U Haul or do you just move and you don't have enough stuff anyway yet?
Producer
That's a great question. I actually did. Not a U Haul. I didn't want to drive. I couldn't make that drive. But paid a moving company. They did it. Shipped the. The car, or at least my girlfriend's car. And then we shipped the car.
Bobby Bones
They drove the car up here.
Producer
I guess they put it on.
Bobby Bones
But they drove with the car on it.
Producer
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Producer
So they did the whole move. It was easy for me, but tough once you get into your house to where to start moving stuff. Don't do with your girlfriend either. My breakup, so.
Bobby Bones
Oh. Ah. Yeah. Well, that's a different episode. That's a whole different episode. That's not today.
Producer
Wait, Breaking news. We didn't.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Producer
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
This just is.
Producer
There's potential. There's potential to fight with somebody that even you're best friends with. I wouldn't even do it with your best friend because that could lead to moving Just sucks.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. It's tough now when I've changed jobs. The company that I went to work for always paid for my move. How'd that work out? Did you have to pay for your own move?
Producer
I had to pay for. For my own moves. But it, you know, that's a rebate.
Bobby Bones
You need to send them check rebate.
Producer
Maybe we could have that in. In the contract.
Bobby Bones
Get NCAA like EA to pay for that move because they didn't give you enough speed. They should pay for your move.
Producer
I agree, I agree. And jump.
Bobby Bones
Are you jumping?
Producer
I mean, I don't think my jumping is good. Maybe they're. Maybe they're on track, but I.
Bobby Bones
Are you sure you didn't play with you at all? Cuz, like, you know, you know, all the ratings, but you.
Producer
Well, I only know speed and jump because I'm a little insecure about it, to be quite honest. But played against. Yeah. Not fun.
Bobby Bones
Did you hear. I hear words getting around about my press.
Producer
It is. Bossa was very impressed. Yeah, I actually saw him right after you guys filmed. And then 225.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I just got. I just got offer. I just got an email.
Producer
How many times did you do it?
Bobby Bones
Third one.
Eddie
No, you said don't worry about that.
Bobby Bones
Well, no, I did it twice, actually. I did it twice. I did twice.
Producer
That's pretty good.
Bobby Bones
I took a break in between.
Producer
That's good.
Bobby Bones
Does that count?
Producer
That counts to me.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Thought so. Schematically, like where you come from and what you're doing now, big difference.
Producer
I'd say so. I think every coach I've played for, everywhere I've been, has been a learning experience and, you know, there's always some different twists to what you're calling or running, but for the most part, I think it's all been things that translate very well and, you know, help highlight my game, but also, you know, push me to be a better player. So it's been fun. And when you have a lot of weapons around you, it definitely makes it.
Bobby Bones
A lot more fun, terminology wise. Big changes. Big word changes, meaning the same things.
Producer
Yeah, so definitely a lot of changes in the terminology. You know, I kind of said, like, you go from, you know, ordering at McDonald's to read in a Bible verse. So it's. It's a little different. You know, instead of getting the number one, you're getting, you know, John 3:16.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah. Philippians. Yeah, yeah. We thought that whenever you, Whenever you make a change and it could be from college, NFL change of programs, like the day that you commit, do they give you. Do they send you the playbook and is it a PDF or do they actually mail you the book? When do you get that?
Producer
Well, nowadays I don't think they do it just because of, you know, commitments sometimes don't always fall through or happen. But, you know, if, if that were to happen, then I'd have, you know, UCLA's playbook around this time. But.
Bobby Bones
And you don't.
Producer
I don't.
Bobby Bones
You never got it for that.
Producer
I think it's. Once you step foot on campus, once you, you know, have that weekend there, make sure you're in school and you're really at the school, then, you know, they don't want to give you all the tricks, the trades and early where you can run away with it.
Bobby Bones
You talk about weapons here. What weapons attracted you to come to Oregon?
Producer
I just, you know, I think kind of throughout that process I knew what Oregon, you know, what we were bringing back, but also kind of what they're looking for in the portal. And you know, I think me being a six year senior, it's important to be around guys that are older and I think you see that on our team just throughout, you know, 11 on offense and 11 on defense. It's a veteran team and I think that's a big advantage for us just with guys who played a lot of football, but then bringing in pieces that were definitely going to help and I think that all kind of came together. Tried to look at it, you know, from a holistic approach just because, you know, it's, it's a lot more than, you know, just me and got to come together as a unit to make things happen.
Bobby Bones
So is that a tough decision to make a change and who's in your group, your personal, like life group that you would have that conversation with?
Producer
Yeah, I have a group of family members and people that, you know, help me outside of football as well that, you know, I just look to and ask questions. And I think the hardest part was I did get a lot of mixed reviews, so this one was definitely my decision, but I just knew it was right. And I think there's, you know, a powerful feeling to, you know, betting on yourself and trusting your instincts. And you know, I've always led with my heart and it's always done, done good for me. So I'm happy where I'm at and it's been a blast when you show up here.
Eddie
How do you connect with your teammates that you just met and you're just like, hey man, I'm, I'm your leader now.
Bobby Bones
Like, you say that exactly.
Eddie
Follow me. Like, what do you tell them? Like, what's. What conversations?
Bobby Bones
What, what are they?
Producer
Like, it's adjustment, you know, I think it's tough, you know, as, you know, you play with a quarterback or, you know, a guy who's been here for two years and then there's an immediate transition. I think it's, you know, very apparent that like, time is very valuable, you know, and we don't have time on our end due to it being a one year kind of thing. But, you know, I just tried to spend as much time around the guys and, you know, be myself. I think that is something that is extremely powerful as well because, you know, when you're not genuine, you can see right through it in the locker room. And I think I'm very confident in who I am and just being myself allowed me to connect with everyone and, and the culture and environment they have here has made it very easy to be inviting for any new guys. But also we're all chasing the same goal. You know, I wanted to win a national championship, so they knew I was the guy for the job and helping them out. So it was easy on both ends.
Bobby Bones
Final three questions. How do you handle social media?
Producer
I, in the off season, I go on and handle it.
Bobby Bones
So you're on, you're active in the off season?
Producer
I am. You know, I'm not as good as everyone else, but I'm a scroller, you know, so I try to, you know, delete the app sometimes or at least removing it from my phone, not deleting my profile so I can get things done. But usually in camps or like as season rolls around, just a lot of busy time. I don't want to spend any time scrolling, so I'll just remove it for, you know, my sanity of staying clear, being focused on, on what's, you know, the main thing at hand. And then, you know, I'll have somebody help me get things done when I need to. So that's how I handle it. I'm goofy on it as well, so sometimes it's good having other people handle it for me. I mean, I've said some questions, questionable things, but you live and you learn. And I think I like to not take it too serious as well.
Bobby Bones
So I expect the most generic, vague answer here. But I did see as of today, you're the favorite for the Heisman. Thoughts generic and vague.
Producer
I'll say this, I've been not even talked about. I've been talked about either way. It's, what have you done for me lately? You know, you can tell me one thing today, but tomorrow will it mean the same thing? So I'm a big guy on, you know, just being in the moment. The rest will take care of itself. And I think it's, it's very clear if you win and you take care of business, everyone will be right, right where they want to be. So I got a winner's. Mentality. I just want to see a dub at the end of the game. And like I said, the rest will take care of itself.
Bobby Bones
All right, final thing, give me your Mount Rushmore. Musical artist, favorite artist.
Producer
Ooh, controversial right now, but I love Drake.
Bobby Bones
Oh, come on.
Producer
I love Drake.
Bobby Bones
He just got annihilated.
Producer
But you know what? He's gonna come back. Head up, young king. You know, patience.
Eddie
That's to you.
Producer
I would say Drake. Party Next Door has been unreal recently. Just kind of my vibe. I like to, you know, chill central. Cee's been, he's not on the Rushmore, but he's been the lately. The kid Laroi and Bryson Tiller, you.
Eddie
Know, Party Next Door.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I mean, they kind of been on it lately.
Eddie
Oh, yeah.
Producer
Questionable album covers, but hey, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. We're not judging a lot of. And we're in this. There's so much gear. We're in like the mecca of gear. It's helmets and you've got a machine that measures your feet. Wouldn't it be cool if every player could pick their own uniform and you guys just all went out in your own individual uniforms?
Eddie
That would look weird.
Bobby Bones
That'd be awesome, though.
Producer
It's like you could do that with Oregon, though. Yeah. Not a lot of school.
Bobby Bones
Like, everybody had their own. Hey, appreciate you, of course. Yeah, good luck.
Eddie
Thanks, dude.
Producer
Appreciate. Appreciate you.
Eddie
Yeah, man.

The Bobby Bones Show – Episode 25W Summary
Release Date: April 28, 2025
Episode Title: Bobby Did Something for the First Time EVER This Weekend + NFL Insider Dianna Russini on the Shedeur Sanders Prank Call & Draft Fall
Bobby Bones, along with his co-hosts Eddie and Guest, delved deep into the unexpected draft trajectory of quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Contrary to widespread expectations of an early-round selection, Sanders slid down the draft board, ultimately being picked in the seventh round by the Dolphins.
Bobby Bones (03:01): "We could spend the first 10 minutes talking all about Shedeur Sanders, but I feel like if you're coming to us, you don't really care about that."
Eddie (03:22): "Oh, we don't know. I don't know why he fell. Do you know?"
The hosts discussed various theories behind Sanders' unexpected drop, touching on both performance metrics and possible off-field factors. They speculated whether his drafting was influenced by his father’s legacy and whether teams viewed him as an overvalued prospect.
A significant portion of the discussion revolved around a prank call made to Sanders during the draft process. The prank involved faux messages about Sanders being on an organ donor list, which sparked widespread reactions online.
Bobby Bones (14:30): "They're like, we got your heart, Shadura. And he's... just kidding."
Guest (15:04): "None. Yeah, none. It's always mean-spirited."
The hosts critiqued the nature of the prank, considering its mean-spiritedness versus the lighthearted intent behind it. They debated whether such actions were appropriate and the impact they had on Sanders' draft experience.
The episode featured an exclusive interview with Dianna Rossini, a senior NFL Insider for The Athletic. Rossini provided professional insights into Sanders' draft slide and the broader implications for his NFL prospects.
Rossini attributed Sanders’ fall to his approach during pre-draft meetings, suggesting that Sanders treated interviews more like recruiting trips rather than professional job interviews. This misstep may have influenced teams' perceptions of his professionalism and readiness for the NFL.
Additionally, Rossini touched upon the evolving landscape of NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals and how they impact players' draft strategies and financial decisions.
The hosts compared Sanders' situation with other quarterbacks who went undrafted despite impressive collegiate performances.
They highlighted players like David Cohn, Quinn Ewers, and Dylan Gabriel, noting that several talented quarterbacks also went undrafted, challenging the narrative of racial bias being the sole reason for Sanders’ draft slide.
The discussion emphasized that while performance metrics are crucial, personality, professionalism, and team needs play significant roles in draft decisions.
Beyond NFL discussions, the episode also covered the excitement surrounding the NBA playoffs, referencing memorable moments like buzzer-beaters and standout performances.
In line with sponsorship agreements, DraftKings Sportsbook promotions were interspersed, encouraging listeners to engage with NBA betting options using promotional codes.
The show featured various light-hearted segments, including humorous interactions about moving houses, NCAA football gaming, and playful debates about retired jersey numbers in sports.
Bobby Bones (22:14): "Numbers gone."
Guest (22:18): "Celtics can't really get any new numbers these days."
These segments provided a balanced mix of serious sports analysis and entertaining conversations, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
Towards the end, Dianna Rossini shared personal reflections on the prank call incident and its implications for Sanders' mental and emotional well-being.
She emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes and the fleeting nature of social media controversies, offering a compassionate perspective on Sanders' experience.
Bobby Bones (03:45): "I watched round one entire and we were on here going, I bet Shadora gets picked second in the second round. Number one pick to the Browns didn't."
Eddie (06:06): "Never."
Bobby Bones (12:02): "I love it. I also, but I think the Thunder are going to."
Bobby Bones (15:29): "I wouldn't have done it. It was a bit mean-spirited."
Dianna Rossini (32:54): "He made the mistake of approaching these visits as a recruiting trip versus a job interview."
Episode 25W of The Bobby Bones Show offered an in-depth examination of Shedeur Sanders' unexpected draft experience, shedding light on the complexities of NFL drafting and the multifaceted factors influencing a player's career trajectory. Through engaging discussions and expert insights from Dianna Rossini, listeners gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and dynamics at play in the high-stakes world of professional football drafts.
