This is a podcast called 25 whistles. Talking football and they all wear a whistle yet stupid.
Bobby Bones
But what did you expect it to.
Roman Harper
Podcast called 25 Whistles.
Bobby Bones
25 Whistles. Hey everybody. Welcome to the show. We've been in Vegas all weekend.
Eddie
What are you laughing at?
Bobby Bones
Because the first story I'm going to tell is kind of awkward. It's funny. We'll think it's funny.
Eddie
I just see you giggling over there looking at your phone.
Bobby Bones
Well, I, I, I made a bunch of notes and this is my first note. Here's the whistle. Thank you. Thank you.
Eddie
Slow, slow whistle, canned whistle.
Bobby Bones
I this is, this is kind of weird.
Eddie
What is it?
Bobby Bones
This is kind of weird and embarrassing. I got a text while I was in Vegas and I looked down. It was a text from Kevin, who's on our show, Kickoff Kevin. And Kickoff Kevin said, likewise, man. Got FOMO watching the videos and pics and I was like, uh, oh huh.
Eddie
But you had never, you hadn't text him anything before that.
Bobby Bones
I text the wrong Kevin.
Kickoff Kevin
I knew it.
Roman Harper
I knew it.
Bobby Bones
I didn't mean to text him. I meant to text him. The Kevin who used to work with us in the company. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I would always see him. We'd always meet and do some work in Vegas, just overall. And so I text him. I was like, hey, we're at iheart. It's weird without you here. I actually said, wish you're here in Vegas. Not the same without you. But I get a text from Kickoff Kevin and he goes, likewise, man. And I was like, oh, maybe I don't tell him. I didn't mean to text him, man.
Eddie
Kevin did you think he was honestly texting you?
Kickoff Kevin
Dude, I looked at my wife. I'm like, I think Bobby might be drunk for the first time ever right now.
Bobby Bones
So I meant to text the other. It's same name Kevin.
Eddie
Sure. Who has been to Vegas many times.
Bobby Bones
Every year he's been with the company.
Eddie
Kevin has been with us one time.
Roman Harper
To Vegas, which would be funny that.
Eddie
You would text him that.
Bobby Bones
I said, wish you were here in Vegas. Not the same without you. And he responded, likewise. Got FOMO watching the videos and pics, and I'm like, why did Kickoff Kevin text me that? And then I'm like, oh, God, I sent you the wrong person. So that was it.
Eddie
At any moment, though, Bones, did you think about just letting it be? So Kevin thinks that we really didn't miss him.
Bobby Bones
I did let it be until right now. Yeah. I never responded to him responding. I just let it be.
Eddie
And Kevin, you thought, like, he was legit. Wow. We miss you.
Bobby Bones
What did you think, Kevin?
Kickoff Kevin
No, I. Legit. Like, I saw it, and I was like, huh? Like, can. I thought the same thing. I was like, I've been to Vegas. I think once, maybe twice. Okay. Like, cool.
Eddie
Hey, it's not the same without you, though, dude.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Kickoff Kevin
And I was like, dang, I feel good. Like, they really miss me right now.
Bobby Bones
Well, we did miss you.
Eddie
We did. Okay, 100.
Bobby Bones
But that was accident.
Eddie
That is funny.
Bobby Bones
It was the wrong Kevin.
Kickoff Kevin
I was like, bobby's in his feels right now.
Eddie
In Vegas, you're at the craps table by yourself.
Bobby Bones
I'm just missing kickoffs so much.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Craft stable was interesting because there was one. I made a bunch of money in the craft stable. I went three times. Two of the times I made money. One of the times I broke even, I made. I made, like, 35 bucks or something. So I didn't count that because I just broke even. Yeah. But it wasn't lost money for me, though.
Eddie
35 would be like, honey, we're winning.
Bobby Bones
Great. I didn't make another video on it because it was. I went and I did make a video about meeting this couple. And it's rare that you get a good vibe. Table.
Eddie
Oh, a craps table where everyone's vibing. Very rare.
Bobby Bones
And. And not everybody was winning, but there was enough winning to where we were there for a bit. It's just so rare to get that table where you end up talking to the person to the left, to the right, to the people across. Yes. And you're like, oh, I'm having a good time. Like, I. I don't want to lose, obviously, but I kind of don't want to lose because I don't want to have to leave the table. I got into one of those rare. And it wasn't even a big win, you know, big winter time for me.
Eddie
Just everyone was vibing.
Bobby Bones
Yep.
Eddie
God, that is a good feeling. It's so rare.
Bobby Bones
It was a great feeling. It's like there was a couple women, and they were older, but they had never played craps. And they were looking at it, and I was like, I can show you, like, the couple of things. Don't look at the whole table because you'll get overwhelmed, intimidated and overwhelmed by looking at the table. So they. They were standing beside me, and I was like, these are the only two things you got to worry about at first. And so I. They were like, oh, this game is actually pretty easy when you break it down. So they hopped in this other couple, and that was over. They hopped in and everybody was just like, hanging out. And like, nobody knew me from the show, so I didn't have this weird thing like I have to like, be a certain type of person. It's great. We had that rare. Everybody. We. We're never going to see each other again, but we're having a good time right now vibe. It's fun.
Eddie
That is good. I was at a craps table for a second, and, man, I. I was just sitting next to that or standing next to the most annoying guy in the casino. I mean, dude, he was with a buddy too, and he was explaining to the buddy how it works, except he was all wrong. And then he'd be like, oh, man, we hit this. Oh, my gosh. We're gonna get our money. Oh, no, no, no, we're not gonna. Okay, no, no, no, That's. That's a good. That's a good thing. We gotta. We got two. Two fives on. Okay, good. And then he'd be like, man, come on, Shooter, shooter, you got this shit. And like, he was trying way too hard. And I drunk, probably. He was there for Motley Crue. He said he kept telling his buddy, dude, how cool is that Motley Crue concert? So the rock and roll man, you know, my go to, though, is at the table to get everyone laughing, man, I need this. I need this for my kids school. And everyone always goes like, you okay, man? Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Laughing or crying?
Eddie
I'm laughing.
Bobby Bones
One of the two. They just put out the permanents. Kevin, do you see the sec permanence they announced?
Kickoff Kevin
No.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so I can read you this annual opponents, per Chris Low, and they weren't supposed to announce them. I didn't think until tomorrow, but I guess Chris Lowe is saying he already knows.
Kickoff Kevin
Okay.
Bobby Bones
They have for Arkansas, Missouri, and you'd be like, oh, great. But they pound us. They're also really good, like, most of the time. In the past five years, they are a top 25 team. Texas and LSU. Those are our three permanents. You know, I don't love that draw because we're the worst of the four. You'd love to have a team that you think you could every year beat up on, but our three permanents will be Missouri, Texas, and lsu. I thought it would be Texas and I thought it would be Missouri. The LSU thing is surprising to me because we play and we have a series with A M every year, and we. I thought it would be A and.
Eddie
M. Don't you have a. What's the LSU one? The boot. Battle for the boot.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Which is why they kept it, because those two rivalry games are LSU and Missouri. But I thought they'd. They'd possibly cut that, but they didn't. But who cares? We suck. We're. We're done. I hate life.
Eddie
Kevin did text me.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, I did. I. I did text the right Eddie.
Eddie
You did text the right Eddie. And I think. And I think he was honestly, you know, just like, saying, hey, man, just look after Bobby, make sure he's okay today.
Bobby Bones
No, I didn't see Eddie the whole trip unless we were working.
Eddie
True. Because my wife was there.
Bobby Bones
It was a terrible freaking game. The only positive about the game is I think that will. That will be the reason we have coaching changes. We could. I. We're done. It's. It's over. And I like Sam Pittman as a person a lot, but I haven't been shy over the past couple years, even when it was unpopular, to say, guys, we're not moving in a positive direction here. Like, we. We've already peaked. We've hit the ceiling.
Eddie
What's over the season or just the Razorbacks as they are as a team now?
Bobby Bones
Well, I. I think what's over is this coaching staff is not going to be the coaching staff next year. So depending on how they handle it internally, they. Right now, they could keep Pittman on for another week. Notre Dame, then we have a bye week after that. Most of the time when they do something like this, it happens into a bye week because you have an extra week to kind of reorganize. But it's not like you're going to Hire a coach, you just promote somebody. And if this happened last year it would probably been our defensive coordinator Traps Williams. But this year, because defense sucks, it's probably going to be Bobby Petrino if they do it. But he has a clause in his contract and I'm not going to make this the full Arkansas podcast, but he has a clause in his contract that if he has a winning record, his buyouts higher of his, of his term in his last deal and he has a couple game winning record right now he has an overall losing record at Arkansas, but so if he loses a few more games they can buy them out for cheaper. So they could let him finish to the end of the year. But either way they're going to have to do something because the fans are getting pretty testy. Meaning they have to announce, hey, this is his last year or we're firing him or hey, we ain't firing him. And like something has to be said. I think Petrino probably is the fill in coach. Little interim by Petrino back. We won 11 games with him before he left. 10 games on the year before that. Like we were. It's weird. It sucks. I just got a message from somebody. I was, I was going to Notre Dame to the game and because we're playing Arkansas and Notre Dame next weekend in Arkansas and I got a message going, hey, after this weekend, checking to see if you're still coming. Not a good day on the hill.
Eddie
They texted you that?
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
And did you respond?
Bobby Bones
Not yet. Because it happened like five minutes ago.
Eddie
Tbd.
Kickoff Kevin
What are you thinking?
Eddie
Yeah, yeah. What's on, what's on your mind right now about going? Like, I mean, if you were to answer right now, you'd say, no, I'm not going.
Bobby Bones
Right. If there weren't other factors, I'm leaning toward no. But there are other factors in play. It is our nephew's third birthday.
Eddie
Oh, personal factors. Got it.
Bobby Bones
And if Caitlyn's like, no, I think we should still go because we should go to our nephew's birthday, then I will go. If she's like, I don't care, I'm not going. For a couple reasons. One, it sucks. And two, it's going to be weird for me to get up in a suite with people in the administration when I have been outwardly going, hey, I don't think this is it anymore. We got to make some changes. And they're directly affected by this.
Eddie
You were doing that on, on Twitter.
Bobby Bones
On Twitter I wrote and deleted probably 15 tweets.
Eddie
Dude, why do you go there?
Bobby Bones
I took them down. I didn't delete them. I wrote them and then just X'd out and didn't put them up. At least 15.
Eddie
Is it because you were alone or would you do that anyway?
Roman Harper
Like.
Bobby Bones
Well, I would be alone watching the game regardless of.
Eddie
I know, I know.
Bobby Bones
So it wouldn't have mattered. The situation. If I'm here in my house or in a hotel room in Las Vegas, I would have been doing the exact same thing because I watch games alone.
Eddie
You just reach for the phone and start tapping away.
Bobby Bones
I don't even reach. It stays in my hand. On Twitter, into the right, the push, the little pin and pad. It sucks. Like, I hate life, so. But I did take a bunch of notes.
Eddie
Would you. Hold on. Would you go to the Notre Dame game? Just because it's Notre Dame in Arkansas and that's kind of a rare.
Bobby Bones
If I do go, that is why I will go.
Eddie
Because, I mean, that's pretty cool.
Bobby Bones
I also don't think it's out of the realm possibility that we win that game.
Eddie
Crazy. Be crazy. Dude, your defense, like, they couldn't make a tackle. Like, I don't understand that. They almost look like the Cowboys defense. Cowboys defense, Arkansas defense. Same defense.
Bobby Bones
Which week?
Eddie
Well, I just saw most of the game this.
Bobby Bones
This week also. Let's look at it. We were going to win. All we had to do is take a knee and we win the game because we're going to kick a 30 yard field goal. But it's the second game in a row where we fumbled the last drive to win the game. We fumbled. So I'm not even. Again, that wasn't the point of this. But I do think that will be what is going to create a positive change for the program. And I just get pissed off because I donate so much money. I think I would be hurt and it would suck as a fan if I didn't. I just get angrier the more money I put in because I'm putting it in not to lose. I'm putting it in to help have tools to win. So whatever, man. Stupid. Anyway. You know who else looked like a tool? Arch Manning. And I like Arch Manning. Yeah.
Eddie
Against my, my Sam Houston State.
Bobby Bones
Like, there's no need to flex on Sam Houston.
Eddie
Come on, dude, leave him alone.
Bobby Bones
There's no need to flex on anybody from Sam Houston State for any reason. And Texas posted the picture and they were like, aura. And I'm like, dude, he's standing over an eighth grader.
Eddie
Yeah, well, easy, easy. They're college football players.
Bobby Bones
My Bad dude.
Eddie
And they are D1, but yeah, dude, come on. You're killing Sam Houston State first off.
Bobby Bones
But you should and they did. You can only beat the people in front of you, right? Yep. But there's Mike. You saw it. Yeah, I was a little much. Okay. Just making sure. You thought that the rep had to tell him to chill out. And afterward he was like, my mom was not happy about that. Arch was. I like Arch. I didn't like that. I mean he was doing it all the way up to the bench, like doing the. Ah.
Kickoff Kevin
I was like, dude, chill out.
Bobby Bones
Maybe they told him, like, have a little swagger.
Eddie
Yeah, maybe.
Bobby Bones
But now it's like too much.
Eddie
Hey, maybe reel it in a little bit.
Bobby Bones
Well, you can only have so much if that was against Florida coming up. That's different. Sam Houston State, you're having to pay them to come play you. You shouldn't flex over anybody you're giving money to to come play you. So. Saw that. I'm just going to roll through my notes because I made a bunch of them. Next up, the fan who caught Mike Trout's 400th home run ball. Really fun and funny story. So Mike Trout hits his 400th homer with the Angels, catches it. Obviously that ball is worth some money. He could have kept the ball and actually made a significant amount of money with it, but he gave it over. And when you do something like that, they make sure to reward you. And they gave him like signed bats, all kinds of stuff. Yeah, cool stuff. But what he wanted to do was play catch with Mike Trout after the game.
Eddie
Hey, that's fair.
Bobby Bones
So he got all the stuff and then Mike Trout agreed. I'll play catch with you after the game.
Eddie
That's awesome.
Bobby Bones
And there's a video of them playing catch. My only problem with this video is that Mike Trout's not wearing a glove. He's playing bare hand catch. No. And that sucks because you can't really like let him have it.
Eddie
And you know what's funny? That's like what I do with my. With my son, you know, like, cuz I know he's not going to hurt my hand. That's what Mike Trout is doing with this dude.
Bobby Bones
So they're out in front of the dugout after the game, is all the way over, there's nobody in the stands and. And they're playing catch. He's got a glove on and Mike Trout. And Mike Trout's bare handing it. I would want him to put a glove on if we're going to play catch for A couple of reasons. One, it's not real catch if both people aren't wearing a glove. And two, the video looks like you're a wimp because he's not wearing a glove.
Eddie
Correct.
Bobby Bones
Like he can just bare hand it no problem.
Eddie
So and would you let me ask you this. If you were playing catch with Mike Trout, would you say give me the heat like just to see what it's like?
Bobby Bones
No, no, I'm good once you want.
Eddie
To know what that feels like?
Bobby Bones
No, because I feel like he'd give me the heat and I probably wouldn't catch it and it'd be embarrassing. It'd be on video or he'd hit me with it.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
I just wish Mike Trout would have would have worn a glove. That's my second note.
Eddie
Yeah, that's good.
Bobby Bones
My third note, verbatim, I quote, clemson sucks. Hahaha occur still on.
Eddie
I mean Clemson sucks.
Bobby Bones
I think they're 5 and 5 in their last 10. Which coincidentally is when we put the chime curse on them.
Eddie
Coincidence? I think not.
Bobby Bones
So I like individuals that root for Clemson. I don't even mind the Clemson fan base. But I had to put the curse on Dabo.
Eddie
You had to?
Bobby Bones
I had to.
Eddie
You were almost forced to.
Bobby Bones
He big timed us on the show and so I was like, ah, I hate to have to do this. I'm going have to curse you though, because I got nothing against you. And that was right before their losing streak started and now they're 5 and 5 in their last 10.
Eddie
Any interest in lifting the curse?
Bobby Bones
No.
Eddie
What would it take to lift the curse?
Bobby Bones
Him coming on.
Eddie
All right, you heard him, Dabo.
Bobby Bones
I don't think he's going to hear me.
Eddie
Did I hear like one of the announcers call him dabba dabba doo?
Bobby Bones
Didn't hear that. I used to.
Kickoff Kevin
That in your own head.
Eddie
No, no, no, no, no. I was in the middle of something and I had the game on and I said, well, sorry, dabba dabba doo. And I'm like, I have never heard that. And that is so disrespectful.
Bobby Bones
I've not heard that.
Brandon
Are you, are you thinking scatter boo.
Eddie
No, no, no.
Roman Harper
Okay.
Eddie
No, no, no. It was, it was Davos. Because they were talking about, you know, they were. I think they were just recap. Highlighting the game and how bad it's like, oh, another battle for the yabba dabba.
Bobby Bones
Do I think you might have made that up?
Eddie
No, I wish it was so disrespectful. I had to look. Did he Say that. I think he did.
Bobby Bones
I was just checking in on the game because it was on during other games. It may have been even on during the Arkansas game. It was either on in that first block or the second block. When I was watching Oklahoma and Auburn.
Eddie
At the sports book. Where were you?
Bobby Bones
In my room.
Eddie
So how did you adapt to hotel versus your house? Because your house, you can watch multiple games, right?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. The television, which had cable, I watched because Arkansas game was on ABC.
Eddie
77, one of them. I had all the numbers memorized. I'm like, go to 77. Go to 13. I think Arkansas was on 13, I think.
Bobby Bones
And so my other line just had my phone, and So I have YouTube TV.
Eddie
Got it.
Bobby Bones
So I was flipping through and then. Couldn't use DraftKings in Vegas.
Eddie
Cannot.
Bobby Bones
I'm gonna say this. Sportsbook betting sucks whenever you're used to betting on DraftKings.
Eddie
Agreed.
Bobby Bones
It sucks because you go down, you get your ticket. Your ticket. You can't, like, what, See the score next to it?
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Eddie
That doesn't have an update on where you're at.
Bobby Bones
You can't live bet on your ticket.
Eddie
Cannot. Can you live bet at the casino? Like, I was wondering that. You can walk up there with a live bet.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And not all the games are always going live, so the options aren't as aplenty. But, yes, you can live.
Eddie
Okay. Yeah, you're definitely right. Dude. I miss the app.
Bobby Bones
Me, too. So. Didn't get to do that while we were there, but, yeah. Clemson. Rest in peace. Tough year.
Eddie
Yabba dabba do.
Bobby Bones
Tough year. Okay. North Carolina football game. Bill Belichick during the game. When. When Jordan. Jordan comes down and is talking to him during the game.
Eddie
This is ridiculous. Dude. It's not the first time.
Bobby Bones
That's wild to me.
Eddie
I think they've done it every game.
Bobby Bones
All the comments underneath the picture of her talking to him, and he's, like, standing there in his little jumpsuit, and she's got, like, a black skirt, like North Carolina blue, like, a tank top on with a purse over her shoulder. And she's, like, looking up, talking to him. And all the comments were like, daddy, can we get ice cream after the game?
Eddie
Or can I have some money? Hey, I'm gonna go to the concession station.
Bobby Bones
It was really one of the great comments sections of the past few weeks, dude. But that whole situation just gets weirder and weirder.
Eddie
So weird.
Bobby Bones
Like, you know, she is running that ship. I've never seen another wife or girlfriend come up to a coach in game on the sideline ever. Now I haven't looked because it hasn't been, like, at the forefront, but I've not seen it.
Eddie
Not the football ship, though, right? Like, she's not talking to him about.
Bobby Bones
I don't think she's talking about personnel or schemes, but I think she's, like, dictating everything else, man. Otherwise she wouldn't feel like she had the autonomy just to go up and do that during a game. What do you think about it, Kevin?
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, I just wonder what she's telling him. Like, hey, you looked really mad on tv. Like, can you just stop making that face out there? Something like that.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
It's weird, Kevin, is that. I mean, did this your coach, like, that's your.
Kickoff Kevin
I don't know him anymore, Eddie. That's how I feel. I honestly feel like I'm like, this doesn't even seem like the same guy. I mean, the guy that lived on, no distractions, keep focused, game to game, week to week, is now having a girlfriend who is, what, 40 something years younger than him come up to him mid game.
Eddie
49.
Kickoff Kevin
I think that's crazy.
Eddie
That's closer to 50, Kevin.
Bobby Bones
I think it's 49.
Kickoff Kevin
I think it is, too.
Eddie
40 sounds better, though.
Bobby Bones
Other notes. And I wrote this before they won the game, but I thought that the Browns jerseys were awesome. And I don't normally think that anything about the Cleveland Browns is aesthetically pleasing. I don't really love the colors. Not a big orange guy, and that's probably from Texas and Tennessee and just my general dislike of those two schools. So I just don't like orange. So I don't like the Browns.
Eddie
Were they wearing white?
Bobby Bones
No, they're wearing brown. Like dark brown.
Eddie
Brown.
Bobby Bones
And the orange on them. And I thought they look super cool because it was brown on brown as well. And I wrote, Cleveland's jerseys were awesome. Their defense is nasty and gritty. And that's because they just continued to sack Green Bay. They end up winning the freaking game. Which is crazy because Jordan Love threw a bad pick at the end. So congratulations to the old Brownies.
Eddie
That's huge for us.
Bobby Bones
Well, yeah, and our money league.
Eddie
Huge for me, too.
Bobby Bones
And the listeners don't really care about that. We can get to that later. But yeah, that. I mean, it wasn't huge. Oh, you mean like you.
Eddie
Me personally. Because I passed on the Packers.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. For Cincinnati. But I'm going to tell you.
Eddie
I know, dude. We're in trouble. We're in trouble.
Bobby Bones
Every time Cincinnati loses, we lose money. Every time society wins, we win Money. Cincinnati's gonna do a lot more losing. Yeah. Yeah.
Eddie
Somewhere.
Roman Harper
That got ugly quick.
Bobby Bones
That got ugly quick. Let me see if I made a note about that.
Eddie
Oh, you had to have.
Bobby Bones
I didn't. I think it was just.
Eddie
Oh.
Kickoff Kevin
So it's pretty quiet yesterday.
Eddie
What, the text thread.
Roman Harper
The. The.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, the text.
Bobby Bones
You don't even jump in the text.
Eddie
I couldn't. I couldn't that time. I was in the air for most of it.
Bobby Bones
You don't have texting. Yeah, it's free. Southwest.
Eddie
No, I didn't. I was zoned in. Zoned in on the Cowboys game. And I'm telling you, you played in a league game half the time. Half the time. Like, you guys are talking about stuff that I haven't even seen yet. That's kind of part of why I kind of turned it down a little bit.
Bobby Bones
What do you mean?
Eddie
I'm just delayed, man. Every one of my streaming services is delayed from you guys. You guys are always like, there we go, another pick. And I'm like, I haven't seen that yet. And then two minutes later, like, oh, there's the pick.
Bobby Bones
You need to pay for the premium.
Eddie
The one that's real time.
Bobby Bones
Eddie's paying, like, a dollar.
Kickoff Kevin
Are you watching on TikTok still?
Eddie
I don't know what it is.
Bobby Bones
He's watching clips. He just searches for free clips.
Eddie
Okay, maybe it's red zone. I think red zone's always just delayed.
Bobby Bones
That's what I watch on mostly.
Eddie
Really?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Okay, I got some more notes. Next one up. I don't think I'd like doing the tush push over and over if I were. Jalen hurts. He keeps getting crushed, especially when they're trying to rip the ball out of his arms. Yeah. So, yeah, Philadelphia touch push. Yesterday they jumped offsides again. Or they. I guess they false started. They didn't call it, but now the replay comes out. They're like, here's another example of them jumping most of the time, but they whoop up on Jalen hurts when he's either on top of the pilot. That looks like it would hurt.
Eddie
Who was it? Was it Jalen or was it Jason Kelsey? One of them was just like, I hated every single time they called the tush push because it does not feel good.
Bobby Bones
That's the first time that I've thought. I don't think I would like doing it even if it was my team. So that's a no. Eagles end up winning that game. That was crazy wild. And I have friends that had the Rams plus, like, two and a half. And they lost because of the touchdown on the block. That is a bad way to lose because you're going. Regardless of what happens here, I'm going to win. If they make the kick, I win. If they miss the kick, I win. And not only did they block it, they ran it back.
Brandon
Same guy. Jordan Davis.
Bobby Bones
Jordan Davis, who's like the slowest person on the field.
Eddie
It's humongous. They couldn't catch him.
Bobby Bones
That's wild.
Eddie
That is wild.
Bobby Bones
There were four blocked field goals in the fourth quarter yesterday, which is crazy. The witching hour Panthers win. That's a big easy one thought. That's pretty cool. You guys don't care about big Panthers.
Eddie
No, that's. That's the.
Kickoff Kevin
Kirk Cousins came in for Atlanta.
Bobby Bones
I did not see. I had turned it off. Third quarter, I turned it off. I took it off my. Your grid. My viewing grid. Yeah. So I didn't see that. Okay. I got like five more notes. I wrote, pat's fumble. Pat's fumble. Pat's fumble.
Eddie
Okay, I was.
Bobby Bones
Fumble.
Eddie
What happened there?
Bobby Bones
They fumbled two in the end zone, like, literally. Kevin, this is your team.
Kickoff Kevin
That was the most frustrating game I have watched in a very, very, very long time. Because it's not like the Steelers are any good.
Bobby Bones
They were better than the Steelers. They were better than the Steelers, absolutely.
Kickoff Kevin
And Drake May, he had a really bad interception and a really bad fumble, but he was playing great. Their defense was playing great. And they just like. Everything that they did was just like, here, you guys win this game. Here, take this ball. And then Stevenson, that's, I think his third or fourth fumble already in three games. He's got to go. That was. I wanted to turn the TV off so many times and rip my eyeballs.
Bobby Bones
Out, but fumbles into the end zone, like, as they're scoring. Yeah, yeah. That's another team that we own. It would have made us a bunch of money. It didn't work out for us.
Eddie
Yep.
Bobby Bones
But they fumbled a lot and that sucked.
Eddie
So when you say he's got to go, Kevin, what do you mean? He's your. He's your dude, right?
Kickoff Kevin
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Gotta, gotta put him down below. We got Henderson first now and then put Antonio Gibson, then Stevenson.
Bobby Bones
Oh, gosh, cuz.
Kickoff Kevin
This goes back to last year. He had problems last year and it was a well known thing. And now it's three fumbles in the first three games. Like, come on, man. What are we doing?
Bobby Bones
Another note is. And I think this is because I was looking at The Browns jerseys and they were really dark, really brown. And I wrote, if you wanted, could you wear camouflage jerseys, pants and helmets to kind of hide on the field? Oh, that's a good. Like if you made it, try to make it the same exact color that the field is. And everybody came out in like grass camouflage.
Eddie
So it would be green camo, like the grass. Maybe some white in there because of the lines on the grass.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I wouldn't do the lines. No, I would just do. Okay, I wouldn't do white.
Eddie
Maybe like a little fluorescent orange, like.
Bobby Bones
A little, like a little dirt. Like it'd be green and like just like we call it filled camo. Hey, could you camo your everything on you to like hide out? Like if you're just standing in the field and being still, like you're laying down and you jump up real quick, would they have rules and regulations against that? Even like green. Green would be tough to see at times. I only think this because of Madden. And if I'm playing like Oregon and they're all in green, sometimes I don't see them in the freaking end zone.
Eddie
So do you think the jets have an advantage because they're green?
Bobby Bones
They're so bright green. I don't know if they wear those bright. I don't know, I forget what they call that color, but.
Eddie
Or the Eagles, they're another brighter green.
Bobby Bones
I guess, But I wondered if he could go full camo. Helmets.
Eddie
Dude, they need to try it.
Bobby Bones
Jerseys, pants, socks, shoes. You come out and you look exactly like the field.
Eddie
They're like, we don't know what we're trying to tackle.
Bobby Bones
Tell me that that wouldn't be hilarious and that that wouldn't sell.
Eddie
Oh, the camo.
Bobby Bones
Like you wouldn't want to buy. Oh yeah, a grass camo jersey. So I wrote that. That's.
Eddie
That's funny that you thought about that.
Bobby Bones
I have two more. Andy Reid bumping Travis Kelce last night. I loved it. I don't think they like each other.
Eddie
Nah, I don't think so either.
Bobby Bones
I just generally, even if you are angry at someone in a pressure filled setting, you don't do that. And this happened. It's not the first time it happened between those two. Like you don't bump them like that. I don't think they like each other.
Eddie
Man, what a weird situation where you are the head coach of a team and you're trying to coach someone who is probably. Is he richer than Andy Reid?
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Eddie
He's more famous than Andy Reid. He thinks he's like the dude. Like, how do you do that? It's not a high school situation anymore or even a college situation where you are the adult and they are the child. Like this is. You have no control over your tight end.
Bobby Bones
That's very much an NBA problem. I mean, that's why coaches end up getting fired. Because it's that in the NFL, not so much. Because it's, you know, 22 starters, not five. So not one whole person, unless it's the quarterback really is able to weigh. Have as much weight for a coaching change. And Travis Kelsey, he does kind of suck now.
Brandon
And wouldn't Andy be afraid that Taylor Swift's gonna write a song about him, you know?
Bobby Bones
True. Yeah. Kelsey looked slow and weak last night and they kept pulling him out. Noah Gray was in so much more.
Eddie
Noah Gray looks like the way Kelsey used to look.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Okay, so I wrote that. I don't think they like each other.
Eddie
So. So what? But props to Andy Reid though. I mean, you know, he bumped back.
Bobby Bones
And you know Andy Reid bumped him.
Eddie
And he doesn't have any pads or any the Give him the bump.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Big boy, though, like Travis Kelce was. Well, Andy Reid did all the bumping. He's the one who threw a shoulder into him.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
The scaboo back flip. To see a guy that size back flip like that, that's wild. Yeah, that's wild.
Eddie
Dude. He's going to. He's going to be awesome.
Bobby Bones
Oh yeah, he's going to be good. I don't think he has the athletic ability NFL wise to be awesome, but I think he will be good, man.
Eddie
He's making some big plays. And did you see the press conference where he's yelling in the background and. And coach is like. It's just a daily thing. You can hear him in the locker room just yelling.
Bobby Bones
I do think he'll be good, but I think he has. I think his ceiling is very close to where he is now because he's not. He doesn't have game breaking speed. He runs really hard. Power runs really hard. Last night, my final note is I bet 300 bucks on Patrick Mahomes over 225 passing yards.
Eddie
Oh, no.
Bobby Bones
And he got 224.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Brandon
That's a bummer.
Bobby Bones
Why?
Eddie
Why? Dude, I hate that more than anything else. That one stupid yard or if you do receptions and it's like one more catch. How so?
Bobby Bones
That, that, that sucked. Thing about the Chiefs, they just don't have the weapons on offense. No, you know, we. Last week we're like, okay, we gotta, like, figure out what our best case scenario is after game six. Because after game six, you're going to have the two best receivers back. I don't know when Worthy comes back. Maybe next week, maybe two weeks, but. So Worthy will be back eventually. But between Worthy and Rashid Rice, they got to have those guys. They got basically a Patriots cut Thornton as their best receiver.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Kickoff Kevin
Second round pick, too. Patriots just cut him.
Eddie
Is he the one that dropped the ball and then caught the touchdown or the.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I don't know. It didn't look like a draw.
Eddie
It wasn't a. He got it. He got it punched out of it like he had it. And then he. The guy punched it out of it.
Bobby Bones
But. And he made it up and they threw his. He threw his hand up like, got this one. Yeah. Yeah. They won last night. The Giants aren't good, but right now the Chiefs aren't good either. I mean, Patrick Mahomes is just. Is David Copperfield, like, having to figure. Kelsey's not good. It's not good. They can't run the ball.
Eddie
No. It's trouble.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah. Mahomes looks like he's trying to just win on every single play by himself.
Eddie
That's probably what he feels like.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Because he kind of has to.
Kickoff Kevin
I know. I Throwing the ball backwards a couple times.
Bobby Bones
Hey, him taking that fumble back. Oh, that was awesome. He just grabbed the ball, just dove on and ripped it back.
Eddie
I don't know, dude. Honestly, that's just not a quarterback move. The fact that he did that was pretty amazing.
Bobby Bones
He has to do everything and he knows that even if he messes up, he's got it.
Eddie
And he knew immediately when he threw that ball, he's like, that's backwards. He started running.
Bobby Bones
We do have Roman Harper coming up in a few minutes. Former NFL player, former Alabama player, Super bowl champion. We'll talk to him coming up in a few minutes. Let's talk about this. Obviously, the NFL season is here. In DraftKings sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NFL is rewriting the rules with ghost leg. I did not get to use my ghost leg because I wasn't back here at home.
Eddie
You didn't do it before we left?
Bobby Bones
No. I don't know if you could do it four days out. I always do it day out before the game start, so I don't know. But I didn't use it. I didn't bet that much because I couldn't until I got home. I couldn't bet on DraftKings. It was all stupid sportsbook. So landed last night. 224 Patrick Mahomes. So annoying. Well, when he hit that, I was like, I just hit it. I just hit the over and it put up like 227 and it said one and then it pulled back three yards because I guess they actually did the measurement. I was so. Correction, so annoyed. But the ghost leg is awesome. The two weeks before it helped me win. It is a new game changing promotion that turns calls into cold hard cash. Best of all, it's available to all DraftKings customers. You just build any three plus leg pregame NFL parlay on Sunday. That. That's it. On Sunday? Yeah. Apply your ghost leg token and if one leg loses, DraftKings makes that leg vanish like it never exists in a. Pays you out cash for the rest. We hit our parlay. I gave you three. We hit it. I said South Carolina plus nine and a half because I thought Lenore Sellers would play. He ended up playing. They didn't win the game, but they did cover. I said Ole Miss -13 and a half versus Tulane. They ran away. It was quick. And then Oklahoma -7 versus Auburn. And that was a push, but we hit. So congratulations, everybody.
Kickoff Kevin
You want me some money?
Brandon
Yeah, buddy.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, me too.
Eddie
I forgot to bet it.
Bobby Bones
You did. It's the first parlay we had done.
Eddie
I know of the year. So somebody asked me a question about the ghost leg and I didn't have the answer because I haven't. I haven't won one yet.
Bobby Bones
You're like, I'll show you my ghost leg.
Roman Harper
So.
Eddie
So if you have a five, a six game or whatever and you lose one.
Bobby Bones
Yep.
Eddie
And it turns into a.
Bobby Bones
You get paid for a five.
Eddie
Okay. That's my. That's what they ask.
Bobby Bones
They wipe it away like it never existed.
Eddie
Got it.
Bobby Bones
So it's like if you bet a five, then. Download the DraftKings sportsbook app. Use the code Bobby Sports. That's the code Bobby Sports to unlock the ghost leg, the promotion that makes one bad leg disappear and pays you out in real cash. Ghost your losses, get your payout in partnership with DraftKings Sportsbook. The crown is yours.

Okay, we're going to talk with Roman Harper, which by the way, Super Bowl 44 champion, two time Pro Bowler. He is in the New Orleans Saints hall of fame. He's first team all SEC in 05, second team all SEC in 04. He's got 11 career interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, 18 career sacks. He played at Alabama and he's awesome on SEC Network. He does SEC Nation, SEC now and he's got a podcast that hopefully you guys check out NFL players second acts. It's Roman Harper and Peanut Tillman. Follow him on Instagram harp41. Here he is, the great Roman Harper. Hey Roman, were you in Oklahoma for the game? Auburn, Oklahoma?
Roman Harper
Yes, I was.
Bobby Bones
And when I guess my first thought because I watched it, but I was in a hotel room in Las Vegas whenever they ran the play where they lucky you. Trust me, it wasn't lucky me. I'm too old for Vegas at this point. I was working and you know those, those casinos, that's no good for me. But whenever the, the old hidden quarterback wide was that whenever that happened, did you guys notice on the field that was a little shady because the refs have come back now and said hey or the SEC came back and said that play shouldn't have been allowed. What did you think while you were there?
Roman Harper
Well, so I didn't stay for the game in Oklahoma. I got out before so I could actually get back. I watched it at home. I actually got on a plane, got it made it back home. So I actually end up watching at home. What do I think about it? I mean, clearly the SEC and the referees have come out and said that it was illegal, it should have been called. But I've been in that situation. So as a defensive back, I speak from a personal experience, is that you have to pay attention. There is no excuse of, oh, I didn't see him. As long as the player comes inside the numbers and then back out, you have to be aware of it. You can't be that locked in where you kind of lose focus or you're not paying attention to that because that's a sneaky hideaway play. I've seen many, many teams do it before. And as a defense, you're still responsible. I'm a safety, so if I'm the last line of defense, so I have to be tuned and keyed into any kind of late guys from the sidelines or anything else happening on so we'd be Able to get it all down because once it gets behind me, it's a touchdown. So I've lived with that experience for 20 something years of playing football. And so when I saw feels like, you know, one of these things kind of went, didn't go against, well, didn't go for Auburn. But ultimately though, the refs either got to call it or Auburn defensively has to defend it.
Bobby Bones
If Hugh Freeze would have complained about that at the end of the game, he'd have been fined. However, when the SEC comes out and says, hey, we did wrong, the refs did wrong, like, I don't know, maybe he should be rewarded with like one free complaint, you know, going forward, you.
Roman Harper
Know, I, I would love that. I don't know who's keeping track or who's keeping count of the complaints in the meter, the complaint meter. Hey, look, in all honesty, the thing to complain about, man, if you're Auburn fan, is like, why didn't we run our running back but six times, the second leading rusher in the sec, he gets six carries in a game. He got, he got his last carry. Well, he got one carry that was the 40 something yard gain. The only reason Auburn was not in the negative was a 40 something yard run and then he didn't touch the ball again until like 20 plays later. So maybe we can control what we can control and maybe do a couple things differently. I'm sure coach Hugh Freeze in that offense is kind of kicking themselves, like why didn't we just call more runs? Why didn't we try and do one or two things a little bit differently just to try and help ourselves out? Because Oklahoma was starting to overwhelm them defensively by how many bodies they were throwing at them, how many guys were close to the line of scrimmage, how many guys are really trying to just affect Jackson Arnold as he continued to drop back over and over and over again. And so, so to me that's where I would look at. And also maybe we hit one of these deep passes because Cam Coleman was definitely a mismatch on the outside versus anybody Oklahoma had. And so if we hit one or two of those deep throws, the game also feels completely different. And so they didn't do that. And because of that, you know, they're going to win a whole bunch of road games in a tough environment like Norman was yesterday. So Oklahoma, they weren't perfect, but they played well enough to win the game. And Auburn definitely wasn't perfect. And you know, they got a couple of plays that they probably won't back and they get a chance to win that game.
Bobby Bones
You know, going into the year, Venables was on the hot seat ish at Oklahoma. But I agree they beat Michigan, now they beat Auburn. I, I mean, I. It's fair to say that he's probably on a seat that is a lot cooler now, especially with Mater coming in. You know, they bring the offensive coordinator and material together. What do you think there? This will be my last Oklahoma question. What do you think their ceiling is this year?
Roman Harper
This year was the SEC championship game for me is, you know, I always go back NFL thought process. And that is, you know, that's why everybody covets the quarterback positions. Because once you have a quarterback now, you're in the discussion of being a playoff team. And so Oklahoma checks that box big time. They upgraded the position astronomically compared to where their quarterback situation was last year with Jackson. Arnold really struggle getting through his progressions in reads this quarterback John Mater is excellent at getting through his guys, putting touch passes and layering the football to his tight end over the, over the middle of the field. Also when things break down, he's really, really good at not thinking, just getting the ball out or creating with his own legs. He gives them a chance big time. And, and then you see what they're able to do defensively up front, creating pressure with this defensive line, especially their defensive tackles and their edge players. Mason Thomas and so our Mason Thomas, what a cool name that is. And so, you know, those things right there give Oklahoma a really, really good chance of winning ball games. I know they're going to continue to harp on the schedule and how tough it is, how tough of a draw that they got. But this program believes in where they're going to. I was talking to the athletic director, Castellanos, who's been there since what, the 90s? So he's been there a long time there. They understand the pressure that it is to be in Oklahoma, but they also understand the opportunity that like nobody's going to give you more opportunities and more and give you more, I guess like things that help add value to yourself than the University of Oklahoma. They're going to give you everything that they have to give you because they want you to be successful. And sports matters on that campus, like that feeds everything. So they do understand that. And, and the fans definitely show up and show out in a big way. So I, I think it's just all these things together really is cooled off the hot seat. But I could also see Oklahoma losing another two or three games if Auburn hits a couple of these deep shots. So teams that are able to be able to throw the ball down the field and challenge Oklahoma, because right now they play teams that haven't been able to do that, that Michigan offensively can't throw the football downfield, can't do it. Auburn, for whatever reason, they could not hit the deep ball. And it's guys that are open because what Oklahoma does defensively, they don't cover everybody because they think their pressure is going to affect the quarterback, that I don't need to hit everybody. I don't need to cover everybody when your quarterback's on the ground. So that's what they do defensively. So if a team is able to protect the quarterback long enough to hit a shot or two downfield, it'll be a totally different game. And that's going to be the team that I worry about. Can Oklahoma beat that type of team?
Bobby Bones
Let's talk about Florida for a second. Another rough week for Lagway. Will Napier last the season? I mean, a lot of folks talk about how great of a. Even Saban, like we're sticking out for him this weekend. What are your thoughts?
Roman Harper
Look, I don't know how great of a coach he is, you know, but I don't. I don't think it's a real benefit of firing him during the season. And look, the schedule is already tough enough. But for me, I continue to go back to two things when I look at Florida. Number one, I think their defense is playing hard, they're continuing to battle and it hasn't been good offensively, but you still have to do your job and your job only. And when, like, if I have a C gap or B gap, I can't be looking in the A gap. I got to do my job. And so that's some plays that Florida has given up because guys are starting to do somebody else's job or trying to do, do a little bit too much. And it's real easy to stay locked in and stay together as a team and just do my job when we're winning and things are feeling good. But what starts to happen when we lose three or four in a row, right? Maybe guys are starting to, you know, check out a little bit. Guys are trying to do what's best for themselves. Like, I've been around. I've been on a team like this. And so, like, how do you continue to not waver on doing your job and doing every single little thing to make, to give your team and yourself the best opportunity to win down in and down out every single week, even when you're not being rewarded with the wins because ultimately that's what we all do it for. And so I want to see how that group continues to play and chug along on the defensive side of the football and on the offensive side of the game. Offensive side, they're not, they're missing too many blocks in the run game. They're not getting enough guys moved in that way. They're not, not giving Jaden Ball enough chances. And ultimately like it's amazing what I see what reps do and what do I mean by that? Like DJ Lagway hadn't practiced all off season. This offseason was supposed to be a year of growth for him off season, getting more opportunities with his wide receivers, understanding it's his team, he's the starter, we go as you go. And then now all the reps that he was supposed to get in spring, he's getting them real game, live reps right now in games, it's just not the same. He seems like he's a step, a step late. His footwork is off. Like everything just seems off with him. And we know because of DJ Lag where they all had a chance last year in every game. So they got to get these things kind of cleaned up. I don't know if Florida can fix their problems. Florida has things that are inside their DNA that really hard to get rid of. You know, they, they got the most penalties offensively. They got, you know, pre snap penalties the special teams claim cost him a couple of weeks ago. So it's like all these things kind of mixed and intertwined together. Like what do you truly fix or what do we try and work on single handedly? When you got like four or five things, I don't know if Florida's gonna be able to get this boat turned.
Bobby Bones
Around being a Bama guy. I want to ask you a ceiling question about bama with Kaylin DeBoer. What's the ceiling this year for Alabama?
Roman Harper
I mean Alabama's all their goals are still out there. They can still reach a national championship. They can still get to the playoffs. Let's all be true, let's be all be honest with each other. Florida State's better than what everybody said they were preseason. So that's number one. So take that game, throw it out. It probably showed you a lot about yourself. And so what do you do going forward? I also learned another thing is that Alabama practices early in the morning. They haven't been on the field of grass past like 11am yet before this whole preseason leading up to that Florida State game. So you're telling me it's going to be some rain, whole bunch of humidity and the heat turned up at 2:30 in the afternoon and you ain't ready for it. That's why they look so tired. That's why the effort level was unacceptable. So they've already changed some things. Talking about practice schedule and trying to get more synced up with when they're going to be playing. All right, that's a smart thing to learn after a loss. And then offensively, Ty Simpson's really been on one the last couple of weeks, a lot more accurate. They're throwing the ball with efficiency, effectiveness. They're having more big plays down the field in the past game, which is what you got to have. Especially if your Alabama team that doesn't run the ball very effectively from the running back position. That's been a big lull. That's my biggest question mark on the offensive side is how do they run the football? Like you have to find some kind of traditional run game at some point because you got to close games out, you got to close teams all out. So that's going to be the thing. And then on the defensive side, their continued eye discipline will be, will be challenged. Especially this week versus Georgia team where Georgia showed us last week they know how to take the top off the defenses too. So you got to be prepared in the secondary and have great eye discipline and then who is going to rush the passer? Versus Wisconsin, they actually got sacks on the quarterback. That changed the game for them. It allowed them to win more on third down and not the quarterback having to be able to throw an incomplete pass or the defensive back having to make a play on the ball. Instead, the defensive line did their part, so that part has to continue to evolve for Alabama. So if they do those things, I mean, Alabama is not losing games because of lack of talent. It's because of lack of execution, lack of effort early on versus Florida State. And now defensively they're playing better. But I want to continue to watch the more and more versus, you know, how does Alabama respond when you play against a team that can hit you back? The best thing about hitting the boxing, the boxing gloves and the boxing bag, the punching bag in the gym, is that it don't hit back. So we all look good. So what happens when you get inside the ring versus another person that hits back? Because that's been the biggest question mark for Alabama under Kaylin D. Bors, how they respond Once teams hit back, I.
Bobby Bones
Kind of feel the same way about Texas after that Ohio State game. They've played three cupcakes in a row. Now they got to go play real teams again. In the last few weeks, have you seen their defense is lights out? Like, no doubt they were lights out against Ohio State. Like no one's arguing their defense. But have you seen anything offensively that leads you to believe that Texas is going to be able to jump?
Roman Harper
First of all, let's give credit, like, the defense is so good and I thought that's where they were going to be missing out at the most, but I was so wrong about that. So give them a lot of credit what they're doing defensively. But offensively, I will say this. I saw versus Sam Houston. I watched the game last night on my, my, on my cutups. And the one positive I will say is that Arch Manning did hit some layup throws like this 12 yard in like a couple of these over routes that he had one hopped in previous weeks. He, he completed the pass last week. And so for me, I'm like, okay, this was a good thing. They also were able to run the football more effectively than they had in the past. That's another thing. They got to be able to run the football better last year. They ran the football extremely well at times versus teams. And like, you know, you look at the Clemson game last year, they ran the ball really good versus Clemson. That time flipped the whole game for him. So that's what they got to be able to do. And the last thing that I say that Arch Manning did better was he hit a deep ball. Ryan Wingo finally called a deep pass from Arch Manning this season. Like that's what I'm talking about. They need to be more explosive. They need to be better on third downs. But running the football better on first and second down is going to allow them to be better on third downs because it's more manageable. So those are the things that I got to see more out of. Texas also still have a little bit of concern because a couple of these passes that I'm talking about that, that Arch Manning completed, the first four or five, you know, they were all low. The receiver had to go down to the ground to catch it. So they weren't like they were able to catch it and run in wide open situations. So know, it's still not, it's still not an A plus, you know, but it's, it's a B. It's a B plus, you know, maybe like an 87ish. You know, I'm not gonna give it an 89. I give you like an 87. You know, like barely above. We're trending in the right direction, so I would give it like an 87. Like they have a chance, you know, talent. That's another team that, like, talent's not an issue. It's going to be all the other little things like can and for me and you, you got to talk to me. If you paid enough attention to this. Texas has really struggled with third downs, right? Versus UTEP, they were like 5 for 16. That's less than 33%. You're not gonna win a lot of games that way. Then on top of that, they were two for five on fourth down. So that's three, three possessions you give away. Versus Ohio State, they were one for five on fourth down. You like then in the red zone. They're one of the worst teams scoring in the red zone in the country. And so. And then they also, before they played this pass game, they had 180 yards penalty in penalty yards more than their opponents. That was literally dead last in the country. So these situations are also cost. In Texas football, it's kids keeping games closer than what they should be, especially in these cupcake games that they've been playing the last couple weeks. So Texas has to get those things cleaned up because you can take the logo, the name off the jersey. If I'm bad on third down, I don't get. I'm not good on fourth down. When I do go for it, and I like to go for it a lot. I don't score in the red zone and I'm way more penalized than my opponent. I don't care where you're at, you're not winning a lot of games. So those are the things that you also need to get cleaned up as well. It's not just arch Manning and the offense playing better, but it's the little, the little situations in football that, that Texas is struggling with that they got to get cleaned up that they didn't struggle with last year.
Bobby Bones
My final question, I'm a big SEC guy, so. But not SEC related. It's just dabo. Like, what is going on? Like, what do you foresee Clemson's next few weeks being like?
Roman Harper
I mean, I would not have imagined. Look, I had friends that were saying Clemson was asleep before a national championship this year. And so for me to sit up here and watch them. And at first it was just a squeaky wheel, right? It's just a squeaky will. Now the tire is about to fall off the truck. I mean, I'm a bit worried because losing a Georgia Tech on the road, like, like, you know, that's kind of on brand for Georgia Tech, right? Like, this is kind of like what they do. They beat teams from time to time. Haynes King is a really good college quarterback that has learned his way and they. And it fits with Georgia Tech and what they like to do, their whole brand, their whole style. So I give them a lot of credit. But then Fran Brown, who I love, I'd let my son play football for him. For them to, like, beat. To beat Clemson in the fashion in which they did, you know, like they beat up Clemson and we're supposed to be hearing about this vaulted defensive line, how good Kate Klubnick was going to be with these that were freshman wide receivers last year that are now sophomores. All these players coming back, they do not look good. They're not playing well. The offense looks stale. They're just not connected. And who's going to make the play to change it? I don't know. Everybody said you shouldn't panic after losing to Georgia Tech because that's just two losses. But I'm definitely worried. And I'm not saying Dabo's going anywhere. Like, where. Where would Dabo go? And where would Clemson be without Dabo? So let's not try and break up a happy marriage that's been going on for 18 years over three months of arguments. So don't worry about that. I mean, just get it back, right? Try and get back to what. What you do love. Like, don't focus on so much of the negative. Let's try and focus on the positive. So I was always told. Well, not always. I just read this in a book, actually, Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein. You should check it out. She talked about the power of the mind and perception. And now, like, you know, so often we focus on just the negative. And so when we focus on just the negative, it affects us. And now we start to look at everything in a negative lens. But usually for every negative, it's usually surrounded 10 positives. So what are those 10 positives that's Clemson doing? Well, I can't tell you. I ain't been looking at them that good. But. And it doesn't look like it's 10 positives out there, but you. These are the things that coaches. This is why they get paid the big money. Because when everybody on the outside of the building is talking bad about your players and kicking them, that's when you Gotta love on them. And when everybody's loving on them and tell them how great they are, that's when you got to be kicking them the hardest and trying to get the most out of them because you don't want that noise to affect them. The highs of the crowd shouldn't affect you, just like the booze of the crowd. If you're emotionally driven and ride the wave of the motions of the crowd, you'll never be consistent enough to get to your ultimate goals and championships. You got to be able to just. You can't bat an eye. You got to learn how to play through it all. Adversity, all these things. That was my biggest strength probably was I never cared about what anybody said. I just wanted to go play football. And so that's what I'm trying to tell. If you're a Clemson fan, if you're a Clemson player specifically, you gotta just go play football. You guys haven't forgotten how to play football all of a sudden, but clearly you're getting out, executing an out hit. And you got to change that, change that tune.
Bobby Bones
We were doing promo for your podcast before you came on, you and Peanut Tillman. It's called NFL Players.
Roman Harper
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's called NFL Players Second Acts. So I can only do it so much justice. So what do you guys like? What's the, what's the main part of the show?
Roman Harper
Well, the main part is that Peanut and I, we, we're both former NFL players. And you know, the thing about the NFL is that everybody, I don't care the greatest ones to the, the practice squad guy, everybody gets told to take their ball and go home, right at some point. Even, even normal people, non professionals, like high school, middle school, college, everybody gets told to take your ball and go home at some point. And that happens to us as well. And so what is, you know, for, for so many of us, football was the only thing we did in my first love for so long. And then out of nowhere, you know, they tell you, all right, well you're not good enough or you got a time to go home. And so what do you do? And we have interviewed a lot from hall of Famers to executives to coaches to guys that you wouldn't recognize, late round guys, free agent guys that are now all in their second act. And it's been awesome to hear the story, talk about the, the transition that is football transitioning out of it and to figure out what everybody likes to do. Like for me, for example, you know, Peanut, he jumped right into his second act. Which I guess I can kind of talk about it now, because he's no longer doing it, but he jumped right into being the FBI agent. And so he was doing that. Me, I took 365 days, did absolutely nothing, and then it was like, all right, what do I do now? I don't know. So it's different approaches, and there is no playbook to it, right? We've gotten a playbook for everything our whole life. Since eighth grade, since. Well, for me, since fourth grade, I knew exactly what I was doing every August to get ready for a football season. Then all of a sudden, now it stops and I'm 35. Okay, what do I do? And so that. That same discussion, that same question we ask everybody, and we really get to peel it all back, man. And these. So many of our guests are able to share great stories, great, great. Just great situations about things that's going on in their life as players, now in their post career, whatever they're doing, whether it's charitable works or running companies, all these other things. It's been really, really cool to hear all these stories and a lot of our legends that I grew up watching, actually getting to sit down and talk to, it's been amazing. And I still got to act like I'm not, you know, shook, even though I'm normally just the biggest football fan out there and just. I really, really enjoy getting to talk to meet these guys.
Bobby Bones
Roman, appreciate it. And everybody listening. NFL players second acts with Roman and Peanut Tillman. You're looking for a new podcast. Check it out. Really appreciate the time. Love you when you do your SEC work, like, for sure you're one of the best on there. So appreciate you spending some time with us. I hope you have a great rest.
Roman Harper
Of the day, man, oh, man. Appreciate it, man. And I'm sorry, we got. We should have got to. Vandy, dog. Vandy just put up 70 points for the first time since 1918. I mean, this team looks different, they feel different. Vanderbilt has been my passion pro project on the SEC Network and SEC Nation for three years. I've been sitting up here telling everybody how they were turning the corner slowly but surely, and it looked and felt differently. And now we talk about them every week. So I'm just saying, I was the first one. And I showed more love to Vandy than anybody on the network. And I go with anchor down every single week. I roll with him. And now I'm reaping the fruits of my labor because I've been talking about him and now everybody wants to talk about him. Oh, look, now, now you guys want to get involved. This has been my team team for three or four years now. And anybody that knows and anybody who's watched for that long knows I've gone to bat for Vandy for many years. And so thank you for having me on. I hope everybody in Nashville's listening and just know they all know it because I've got to meet some of the Vandy alums. They know I rock with them. They're like, dude, you always go with us. So those that are listening, they know and I appreciate it and it's going to be fun. And guess what? It will continue to be successful once Diego Pavia leaves too. Because of the players. It's not just Diego Pavi anymore. Yes, he's the conduit that makes it go, but they have better skilled players, better guys up front. They play with an attitude and a sense of urgency. Right now, I'm telling you, Vandy is legit. And this will continue to go on after this year as well.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, we're big Clark Lee guys here. We love coach. So he is.
Roman Harper
He's awesome.
Bobby Bones
Awesome.
Roman Harper

Bobby Bones
All right, Roman. Hey, have a great day. Thank you for the time.

Let'S talk about our bets, but let's do our bets with Brandon. Okay, he accidentally no, no well, Kevin.
Eddie
And I, we were talking about this.
Bobby Bones
We talked about. Yes. Yep. Brandon is somebody that we've really pulled into the mix quickly. Golf, sports, football, especially, like, betting sports. And so he's like, hanging out. He's like, oh, I want to learn. And he's been having a great time at it. And he's been winning a lot. And he meant to bet $10. Yeah.
Eddie
And you accidentally bet 100 because extra zero.
Bobby Bones
He hit the zero. And what was the bet?
Brandon
So I saw that Daniel Jones was, like, targeting Pittman, Michael Pittman Jr. And I was like, oh, man, I could. I could see him.
Bobby Bones
Easy ten buck bet. Easy ten buck bet for a touchdown. Any touchdown, A live touchdown, anytime. Touchdown bet. Yeah.
Brandon
I thought I put 10, and then it says. As it's happening, it says accept odds, right? I was like, oh, yeah, I accept. But I had a hundred in there. I was like, oh, my God. Like, do I. Do I just cash out?
Bobby Bones
They'd only give like, 90.
Eddie
Yeah, you would lose on the cash out.
Brandon
I was 70 at the time, man. I'll just roll it. Five minutes later, Michael Pittman Jr. Scores a touchdown. 1500 bucks, baby.
Eddie
This is stupid. This is stupid. This is the crap we went through with Reed.
Bobby Bones
Dude, I talked to Reed and I.
Brandon
Told him, hey, man, I mean, but Bobby, I didn't tell you. So my wife, like, we. My wife, we started an account for her, like, with the Bobby promo code. Bobby Sports.
Bobby Bones
Thank you. Put in Bobby Sports. It's good luck.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Brandon
It gives you $200 bonus bets. And I put. We put a $25 on the parlay. Roma, Dunzy, Jackson, Smith, Najigba. And our last touchdown of the parlay was Scatterboo. And we hit it. We won 420 bucks, all touchdowns.
Eddie
Oh, my God.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, dude.
Brandon
We went over $1,000 this weekend.
Eddie
And my wife.
Brandon
My wife is like, I just. It just makes me nervous. I was like, you're welcome.
Roman Harper
All right.
Eddie
You know, this is hard for me. Like, I need to be proud of Brandon and happy for you, dude, just leave it there. I'm so happy for you. That's awesome.
Bobby Bones
Thanks. Dude. What we should do then, let's get Brandon's bed of the week on Thursday.
Eddie
When we come back and put 100 on it.
Bobby Bones
The key is don't think about it too much. Like, don't spend all week, like.
Brandon
Yeah, I mean, and I was watching. I think I was watching Daniel Jeremiah talk about Scatter Boo, how they were going to be using him a lot more. And I was Like, I mean, maybe I should put him in a parlay. And it worked out, you know, it's just. I was just paying attention and I'm watching drives happen. Same thing happened on a Trey Tucker. I picked Trey Tucker on the Raiders because he was being targeted and it hit.
Eddie
You know you like those live touchdown. I do.
Brandon
They're the ones that I hit. Hit the most, you know, I don't know.
Eddie
What's your go to?
Bobby Bones
Good for you, buddy.
Brandon
Thanks, man.
Bobby Bones
Good for you. My go to is a good team that falls early.
Eddie
They can't hit them live.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
When the odds drop.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And if they're a really good team, the odds will just barely drop. But even then, I feel like that's probably a better bet. I would have jumped on Cincinnati. Thank God I didn't have access.
Eddie
Yes. Thank the Gods. They're like, do not give him access.
Bobby Bones
Because I would have been like, oh, surely they're going to make it closer than this. This narrow. They did not make it closer.
Eddie
Yeah, they get. Every time I checked it, it got worse.
Bobby Bones
Have they up updated our team money yet? No, we just checked three wins and three losses.
Eddie
But does some of those losses kind of help out? Don't they? Like, so. So like the Panthers. I know someone has the Panthers to lose. So when the Panthers win, does that. That helps us out. Right.
Bobby Bones
Right now we have eight skins. Skins. I think we're all the way updated because I think we have eight skins total. Right?
Eddie
That sounds right. I think we were at six last week.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Kickoff Kevin
Oh, so because the Bucks are at two wins. They've got three.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Okay.
Eddie
We're not updated.
Bobby Bones
All right, so it's not updated. Let me text to see when they're gonna update.
Kickoff Kevin
And the Chiefs don't have a win yet on the column.
Bobby Bones
I know, Stell. It's like, leave me the. But they did update. What sucks is they've already updated ours for the Dolphins.
Kickoff Kevin
There's. Yeah, exactly. Yep. So it looks good.
Bobby Bones
It looks good now. But now.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah.
Roman Harper
Yeah.
Kickoff Kevin
But I mean, at least, like, the packers lost.
Eddie
Packers lost. This is good. The Panthers won, which is good. Anything crazy like that is good. And. And even so that works. That works kind of both ways, right? Because I think someone has the. The Cleveland Browns to lose.
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Eddie
So when they win.
Bobby Bones
When they win, that helps us out. Yeah.
Eddie
So I think.
Bobby Bones
So we avoided. I don't think we're going to make any money. I think we'll probably lose just a little.
Eddie
That's okay.
Kickoff Kevin
That's fine.
Bobby Bones
I know.
Eddie
Hey, at this Point, dude.
Bobby Bones
The fact that we have Cincinnati. They're done.
Eddie
Oh, can they not? Is there no quarter? But who's out? Johnny man. Who's out there?
Bobby Bones
Yes. Johnny man. No. No. You nailed it. It's Johnny Manziel.
Eddie
Anyone?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I know.
Eddie
Gosh.
Kickoff Kevin
Did you guys see John Mateer, what he said about Johnny Menzel?
Bobby Bones
I did. Yeah. Tell Eddie.
Kickoff Kevin
Eddie, did you see it?
Roman Harper
No.
Bobby Bones
Where?
Kickoff Kevin
He said they asked him, what's the difference between him and Johnny Menzel. He said, I'll be going to church in the morning.
Eddie
It is funny.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. All right, we're done. Good run, everybody.
Eddie
What's the. What's the run?
Bobby Bones
I don't know. Life. Yeah.
Kickoff Kevin
The Broncos and the Lions and the packers and the Steelers.
Bobby Bones
Who's that? The Chiefs.
Kickoff Kevin
The Bengals.
Bobby Bones
Oh, what? What is there. The Chiefs have a crappy schedule coming. They have the Ravens.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, Ravens.
Eddie
That's not good. That's trouble. I thought you meant crappy as in.
Bobby Bones
What about the Pats? Because we have. We have the Pats, the box Bucks. And I don't know if the Bucks to keep doing this crap because they have to come back every week.
Eddie
Every week, man. We had it in the bag and then.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Baker had to go. Baker, what are the next three games for the bats?
Kickoff Kevin
They got the Panthers this Sunday.
Eddie
Oh, that's tough for you.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Hey, I'm gonna tell you right now, it is not tough.
Kickoff Kevin
And then the Bills at the loss. And then the Saints. That's a win. That could be a win, too. And then Titans.
Bobby Bones
Here's the thing. We can't like scream when a win because we're watching these games.
Eddie
Yeah, you never know. But.
Bobby Bones
But it's better to have a game like that than having to play the freaking Ravens or the Bills or even the Rams.
Roman Harper
Oh, my God.
Eddie
I mean, you did say the Cowboys. Probably a win this week.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my God. Dude, we didn't even that.
Eddie
No, we don't have to talk about it.
Bobby Bones
It's. We didn't like. They made Caleb Williams look good.
Eddie
Dude. We made Russell Wilson look good. We're making these quarterbacks look awesome.
Kickoff Kevin
Eber flu.
Eddie
I miss Micah.
Bobby Bones
I asked Stell, when are you updating the Skins. We do a weekly segment and he said, I'll do it right now. Usually I wait to get my laptop, but I got you. Make sure to mention that I've had the greatest three week stretch in Skins history. Let me see what he's at. Yeah.
Eddie
I don't know what he's at.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, they're killing it. He's killing it.
Bobby Bones
He is.
Eddie
Who do they have? Kevin, do you know?
Kickoff Kevin
Eagles win, Giants loss, Titans lost, Chargers win, Vikings win, Falcons lost.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my gosh. He's got six. He had a six skin week. And that's 500 bucks a skin. That's $3,000.
Eddie
Oh, my goodness.
Kickoff Kevin
They're killing it.
Bobby Bones
But every time he wins, we lose 100 bucks.
Eddie
Correct.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my God.
Eddie
How did Wentz. Did he look good?
Bobby Bones
He didn't have to. He looked fine. I mean, I watched. What do you think? I think he looked fine.
Kickoff Kevin
He looked fine. Yeah, but their defense, the Vikings defense just tore apart the Bengals.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah. He didn't have. I mean, mean, we got to a point where it didn't matter. One player on the the. I should remember his name because he had the craziest game ever. Interception for a touchdown. Fumble return for a touchdown.
Kickoff Kevin
Yeah, Isaiah something.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, like fumble return. Said sacks. Brandon's like, oh, yeah.
Brandon
I bet him 10,000 on that guy.
Roman Harper
Yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
For sure.
Eddie
Brandon.
Kickoff Kevin
Isaiah Rogers.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Yeah.
Brandon
I accidentally picked him.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, anytime. Touchdown.
Eddie
I thought it was Aaron Rodgers. Isaiah Rogers.
Roman Harper
Okay.
Kickoff Kevin
He updated it. Well, he's updating it on the fly.
Bobby Bones
Oh, wait, it's gonna take a minute. Well, he's gonna have to do all the teams, so it'll take a minute. All right, thank you guys. We will see you later on this week and go follow Bobby Bone sports if you don't mind. That's our page for this. We'll see you guys. We'll let the music finish so we can hit that whistle. And hit it. This is Julian Edelman from Games With Names. Football is back. That means it's tailgate time and this season the only meat I'm going to grill is Deets and Watson. I'm loving the Black Angus Deets dogs. They're flavor packed and you can tell they are made with the highest quality ingredients. Sundays just got a whole lot better. Visit deetsandwatson.com the right way to learn more about the deets difference this prime.

| Timestamp | Speaker | Quote | |-----------|--------------|-------| | 05:44 | Bobby Bones | "I said, wish you were here in Vegas. Not the same without you. And he responded, likewise. Got FOMO watching the videos and pics, and I'm like, why did Kickoff Kevin text me that? ... oh, God, I sent you the wrong person." | | 11:18 | Bobby Bones | "I think what's over is this coaching staff is not going to be the coaching staff next year… fans are getting pretty testy." | | 15:55 | Bobby Bones | "I just get pissed off, because I donate so much money. ... I'm putting it in to help have tools to win. So whatever, man. Stupid." | | 18:50 | Bobby Bones | "He big timed us on the show and so I was like, ah, I hate to have to do this. I'm going have to curse you though..." | | 25:55 | Bobby Bones | "I don't think I'd like doing the tush push over and over if I were Jalen Hurts. He keeps getting crushed." | | 44:31 | Roman Harper | "This year, [Oklahoma’s] ceiling was the SEC championship game for me..." | | 57:17 | Roman Harper | "At first it was just a squeaky wheel, right? ... Now the tire is about to fall off the truck. I mean, I’m a bit worried because losing to Georgia Tech on the road ... " | | 60:59 | Roman Harper | "The thing about the NFL is that ... everybody gets told to take their ball and go home at some point. ... So, what do you do?" | | 70:57 | Brandon | "Five minutes later, Michael Pittman Jr. Scores a touchdown. 1500 bucks, baby." |
The banter is light-hearted, often self-deprecating, full of sports fan gripes and friendly needling. The tone shifts to earnest analysis during the Roman Harper interview—where he offers nuanced, experience-driven takes, but with humor and candor.
This episode offers a fun blend of behind-the-scenes show moments, relatable football fan drama, surprisingly insightful betting stories, and in-depth CFB analysis. It’s a must-listen for those passionate about the SEC, gambling escapades, or the realities of both playing and living football.
