Mike
This is a podcast called 25 Whistles. Talking football.
Bobby Bones
And they all wear a whistle yet.
Mike
Stupid. But what did you expect? It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
Bobby Bones
25 Whistles. Hit it, Eddie. We'll start. We're getting Closer to football. Ah.
Mike
So close. Schedules are almost out.
Bobby Bones
That's why I was gonna bring up cowboys in Brazil.
Brandon
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Do you care?
Mike
Yeah, dude. I mean, I care so much. I talked to the family, and I was like, man, how cool would it be to go to Brazil to watch a Cowboys game?
Bobby Bones
You talked to the family and said, how cool would it be?
Mike
Yeah. I wanted to get kind of a feel, like, because we just got our passports.
Bobby Bones
They're in. Yeah.
Mike
And we have not used them, like, two years later. So I'm thinking, like, man, how cool would it be to go to Braz to watch the cowboys?
Bobby Bones
Did I know that yours came in my.
Mike
My passport?
Bobby Bones
Because I knew there were issues. I forgot on the show.
Mike
I couldn't have done the cruise if I hadn't had my passport.
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Mike
So. So now we're like. And we all have them. The kids have them. The wife has it. Like, I feel like we should use this.
Bobby Bones
No, I don't. If you're gonna go and do that trip, you're not taking all the kids.
Mike
No, you're right.
Bobby Bones
That's way expensive. Yeah. You would just go, you and your wife.
Mike
Oh, dude, the kids would be so mad and take me. True.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Mike
My wife would just. She wouldn't care. Like, I feel like.
Bobby Bones
No, but that's about going to Rio. It's not even about the Cowboys. She would want to go because you're going to Brazil, and that's really cool. And then you go to the Cowboys game while you're there. That's not about her not wanting. She'd love to go. The Cowboys game is just a small part of it.
Mike
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're right. To me, the whole reason to go is the Cowboys.
Bobby Bones
Yes. But to her, the reason she's getting to go is because you want to go to a Cowboys game.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It's a win, win.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But you don't take the kids to Brazil. Not when you have four of them.
Mike
Yeah, you're right. It's way too expensive, dude.
Brandon
They would go crazy.
Mike
And then the price of fuel, dude, right now, no way.
Bobby Bones
Fuel. Why do you say it like that?
Mike
Well, jet fuel. You don't really say gas for the plane.
Bobby Bones
I haven't flown.
Brandon
Dude, it's bad.
Mike
It's bad, dude.
Bobby Bones
I, I, I haven't flown at all.
Mike
It's bad to fill up your, your car. Like, it's bad to fly.
Bobby Bones
I have flown from Austin. We flew back after. And that's very expensive because flew privately and I have to pay for that gas myself. That.
Mike
That was gas.
Bobby Bones
That bill was very high.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But I haven't, like, looked and, like, bought a Southwest flight or anything to even notice the prices are up.
Mike
It's kind of one of those deals where if you bought it a month ago, a ticket. Tickets, like, a month ago, you still got a pretty good deal. Like, if you try to buy today, it's so expensive.
Brandon
Yeah. It's really bad, so.
Bobby Bones
But you're not going to go. Obviously. You like to just say stuff.
Mike
Nope. Nope. What about a work trip? What about.
Bobby Bones
You know, that's not gonna happen, but that'd be a fun trip to go on. You could do a weekend, take an extra day off. I would give you an extra day of travel back.
Mike
You would give that?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Like, you could leave. I tell you what you could do. I'd give you a free Friday and Monday off.
Mike
Wow.
Bobby Bones
Yep.
Mike
That's a big deal.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. I give you a free Friday on Monday. Since you've never been out of the country other than what we did on
Mike
the cruise and Mexico when I was younger. But you didn't need a passport for that.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that was like, you're just going home.
Mike
Not really, because I'm.
Bobby Bones
No, no, no, no. That's just you.
Mike
I'm American. Yeah, but back in the day, you just needed a birth certificate.
Bobby Bones
You're not going to go. But that would be a fun reason to take your wife to Brazil.
Mike
Gosh, that'd be amazing.
Brandon
Would you rather see a world cup game or a Cowboys game?
Mike
Cowboys game.
Brandon
World cup, dude, I'd rather go to a world cup if I'm going to Brazil. I'm like, I can catch an NFL game here at the Titan stadium.
Mike
Speaking of world cup, you know, I went to one of the sporting goods places here.
Kier Gaines
They.
Mike
They have, like, Mexico jerseys everywhere. I thought we were in Mexico when I walked in, but I guess it's because Mexico's playing here.
Bobby Bones
Oh, are they?
Mike
Yeah. I think the one of the big games in Nashville is Mexico.
Brandon
Oh, yeah. I don't know, dude.
Bobby Bones
I care nothing about the world Cup. I hope. I've been reading. I say I care nothing. I'm reading to try to get me to care more because it's such a big deal. And so I was reading, like, knockout stage. You want to get there, so you want to play. You want to win your. Maybe top two in your pool of four, and then you want to get to the knockout stage. And I think they think we're like, 61% chance to get to the knockout Stage. And it's not even because we're good. It's because in my opinion, I think, I think you host it, you get a. It's kind of rigged. Soccer's like boxing in the 90s. All rigged. Like how they say, crap up.
Mike
Yes. Don King.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. From what I have read, like, there's a lot of corruption happening in the soccer world, so it looks like America's got a pretty good shot. I think if we look at our four, I'm going to be so uneducated. If you guys will pull up to four. Is Australia in our four?
Mike
In our group? In our World cup group?
Bobby Bones
I'm not sure if they're in the group of four with us, but they, they apparently suck.
Brandon
Group D, Australia.
Bobby Bones
Okay. They, they supposedly are so bad that I think our team here on the Bobby Bone show, we could beat them.
Brandon
That's good to know.
Mike
Paraguay, they sound good.
Brandon
I know. And Turkey, they sound good too.
Bobby Bones
I know, but that sounds like a pretty weak.
Brandon
Yeah, like I didn't.
Mike
We know nothing.
Brandon
I didn't hear Italy.
Bobby Bones
I didn't hear Italy didn't even get in until the very end. Again, I've been reading a lot about it, trying to get myself to care. And if they're in now, it's because they got one of the last spots in through play. But they. I don't even know they're in yet.
Mike
Wow.
Brandon
Bobby's like, I don't know anything about it. He starts naming all these.
Bobby Bones
Well, could you name an American? Yeah.
Mike
On the team?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Pulisic.
Mike
Good job.
Brandon
Does he still play?
Mike
Yeah. I don't know.
Brandon
So.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Brandon
I don't know. I'm just wondering.
Bobby Bones
I'm not soccer guy. I'm not anti soccer guy, but I'm so uneducated in soccer that I am trying to be a little more educated because when it comes, I want to at least know what's going on.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But I have no interest. I would go to a NFL game in a foreign country before I'd go to a World cup game. Unless it was America. But then I'd feel like I was gonna get beat up or stabbed.
Mike
Right.
Brandon
That's a good point.
Mike
Dude, I blew my kids minds when I told them about that player that scored on their own goal. They got killed and got killed. They were like, oh, yeah. What? It was like their eyes got so big. I'm like, that's real.
Bobby Bones
When we did the cruise.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
What country did you go to?
Mike
Bahamas. Remember I got detained flying back. Yep. Why did they never gave me a Reason, man.
Brandon
Really?
Mike
Yep.
Bobby Bones
His skin is his sin.
Brandon
I wasn't gonna say it.
Mike
Hey, man. That's what it felt like.
Brandon
Did they go through all your stuff?
Mike
Yeah, they went through my stuff. Well, first. First they were like, are you bringing any food back? And I was like, I have some nuts. But to be fair, I got those in Nashville. Like, I didn't buy those in Bahamas.
Kevin
Step aside, sir.
Bobby Bones
And I thought they tackle them.
Mike
No, they literally.
Bobby Bones
They're plan.
Mike
After I said that, they're like, we need you to go in that room. I'm like, because of the nuts. I'm like, what? And they never told me why I was being detained. Dang.
Bobby Bones
But after it was over, did they hint as to why?
Mike
Nope. When it was over, they said, did you gamble while you were in the Bahamas? I'm like, no. Like, do you have a lot? A huge amount of money? I'm like, I got $200 of cash that I wanted the casino on the boat. I'm like, all right, you're good. Get out of here.
Bobby Bones
They kick him out, but they're eating nuts as he's walking out. Hey, he's. Way to go.
Mike
They were just hungry.
Brandon
Bring another one. A set of these when you come back. Right.
Bobby Bones
This cruise line has created mystery trip packages for these cruises. And so one of them is a Spanish mystery cruise in November of this year, sailing for eight nights from Barcelona to Malaga. And they don't really tell you what's going to happen.
Mike
What the hell.
Bobby Bones
There's one northern Europe mystery cruise, a Japan mystery cruise. That's from Parade. I think I get more cruise stuff since I went on one because I've never been on the cruise. I'm. Again, you ever on a cruise?
Brandon
Yeah, I've been on two. Just three day down in Mexico from Long beach and back.
Bobby Bones
Was your ship huge?
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Oh, well, it wasn't like the one where they have hantavirus, where it was. It's a. That's not even a real cruise liner.
Mike
That's like a little.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's like 130 people.
Brandon
Oh, no. Yeah, yeah. No, it was big. Probably not as big as the one that you guys went on a couple months ago, but it was big because it was three days and like I said, 14 stories. Oh, yeah. Definitely not that big.
Bobby Bones
I'm not as freaked out going into next year's cruise as I was at this point last year going into last year's cruise because I'd never been on one before. I kind of now know what to expect. It's massive. And I'm going to get a little nauseous, but I'm fine because I was just mostly freaked out about being seasick the whole time, but.
Mike
So they don't tell you the mysteries.
Bobby Bones
That's what I'm thinking. Like, I still want to know what's going on.
Mike
Right, Right.
Bobby Bones
Like, with our cruise, you know, Riley Green's gonna play, you know, the Raging Idiot. What if they're like, hey, it's a music cruise. Who knows? See who shows up.
Mike
Grab bag.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah.
Brandon
It's like one of their cooks comes out and plays. Yeah.
Mike
I mean, it does kind of sound fun for, like, if you're not a
Bobby Bones
planner or if you've done a lot of cruising. And it's a new.
Mike
Yes.
Bobby Bones
It's a new way. It's like a dude artist and you've traveled the country and you've hooked up with everybody, and you're like, I don't know.
Mike
Surprise me.
Bobby Bones
Just see who shows up to the bus.
Brandon
Just blindfold me.
Bobby Bones
Just knock, and whoever shows up, I'll let it rip. We know those artists.
Mike
Oh, we know.
Brandon
We know those artists.
Mike
We're familiar.
Bobby Bones
We know those artists. But I'm looking forward to the cruise next year.
Mike
Yeah, I am. Dude, I love it. The.
Liberty Mutual Spokesperson's Partner
The.
Kier Gaines
The.
Mike
My favorite part of the cruise is just being on the balcony and just being in the middle of the ocean. Like, to me, that's the most peaceful place on earth in the middle of
Brandon
the worst part for me.
Bobby Bones
Really?
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Middle of the ocean.
Brandon
I hate, like, we were out on sea for one day on one of them that I went on, and I just hate, like, not being able to see anything.
Mike
I love that.
Brandon
I hate that.
Bobby Bones
I never had that experience because I had to leave.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So we went out. I mean, you couldn't see the land. Once I closed my eyes and went to sleep, it was just dark. But you could. You always knew you were in your land. And so on mine, my version, we went from Fort Lauderdale around Florida.
Mike
Yeah, we went Fort Lauderdale around Florida. To the Keys. To the Florida Keys.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So. And you guys can still come. It's topshelfcountrycruise.com Riley Greene's gonna be a judge on the Voice.
Mike
I know. I saw that.
Bobby Bones
I thought when they announced that he was gonna be one of those people who come in to coach, you know, helpers. Yeah, they bring in people, but he's
Mike
taking, what, John Legend's place.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Brandon
Wow.
Mike
That's. That's. That's cool for him.
Bobby Bones
That's really cool for him. He's not somebody who talks a lot, though.
Mike
You know, we rode a whole plane ride with him. Didn't talk to us at all.
Bobby Bones
He doesn't. He doesn't say much.
Mike
Not in a bad way. He just didn't talk, like.
Bobby Bones
And I've got to know him a little bit. And even, like, I've hung out with him a couple times outside of work stuff. He's a quiet. He's a nice guy.
Mike
He's a quiet dude.
Bobby Bones
I like Riley, but he's.
Brandon
Yeah, that's interesting.
Bobby Bones
I'm sure they'll tee him up.
Brandon
I was gonna say, I wonder if this is, like, yeah, part of his team, like, prepping him, being like, okay, this is how we're gonna coach you, and this will be the next step if you want to take your career there.
Bobby Bones
Well, he's had to show them, though, that he has the capability to do it or they wouldn't have put him on. Mike, what'd you think about that? I thought it was a mistake. I was like, Riley Green. I thought he was coming on to be one of the helpers. Yeah, yeah. But he must have shown them through. Like, I'll give you this, and it's probably not going to happen because it never happens, but I met with the network last week about a TV show, and I said, hey, it's hard to get the meeting with the head executive. I can. At this point, I've probably fallen a little bit with who I can get quick. I can pro. I can probably get a meeting with one of the lower executives if I just set it a week out, no problem. To get a head executive, it's got to be good enough. Because I don't have. Because I haven't been working with the network in a while, I don't have really the capability to just grab them by the balls and be like, I need you to listen to my idea. But I got the head executive of one part of the network, and I said, here's my idea. I'm gonna take five minutes of your time. That's it. And if you think it's great, good. If you don't think it's great, good. But let's not talk about what you think about it. Let's just hang up when it's over. Feels very much like a prostitute, huh?
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Really?
Mike
Let's just do it and get out.
Bobby Bones
Don't even look at me.
Brandon
Well, I've done some money and go.
Bobby Bones
I've done so many of these that when it's over, let's say you set 30 minutes to do it. They're just like, oh, it's the greatest. They never come back to you. So I'm like, let's just have everybody's time. I'm not going to need any more than 15 minutes total. We're really going to need five. And then when we're done, we're good to go. And you just let me know with a call back if you think it's a great idea. So I get on, I pitch this idea. I think it's A plus idea. I'm not going to share it right here. I said, it's an A plus idea. It's not going to cost you much to produce and it makes sense. But again, they're so good at acting like something is good, even if they have no intention of ever buying it. She's like, it's a great idea, It's a great idea. And she goes, you know what we should do? We should have you practice that show. And I was like, hey, I can do that, no problem. And so I wonder if they did that with like O'Reilly, who doesn't have any experience on television in that, that form. If they like had him go up and they shot like a practice.
Mike
Yeah. See how he did?
Bobby Bones
You have to.
Brandon
Because that's a big role.
Bobby Bones
Big one. Just to throw it at somebody. Yeah.
Mike
He's a good looking dude, though.
Brandon
I know. Well, he's gonna get the eyes, don't get me wrong.
Bobby Bones
But you have to have to do that, that spot.
Kevin
I bet they appreciated that you kept the, the meeting super short.
Bobby Bones
I hope so. I appreciated it too. Of me. Because I don't want to sit on there either. Yeah.
Mike
I bet they've never heard that before.
Bobby Bones
What?
Mike
Like no way. Somebody went in that and said, hey, it's only gonna take five minutes. Cut the whole chitchat. Just hang up, Call me back if you want to do it.
Kevin
Yeah, they want to be complimented, people, they want to hear feedback, you know.
Bobby Bones
What do you say, though? That is my personality in general with everything I do in life, though.
Mike
Get to the point.
Bobby Bones
Like, let's get to the point and if we feel like it's investing in, let's move on. If not, no bull crap. You don't give me any. I don't give you any. Let's move on with life.
Mike
That's how you roll.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So I don't. Just because it doesn't work as a general rule. It's like anything creative, I don't expect it to be bought or picked up, but it Could. I've not heard anything back yet.
Kevin
So when do you want to start practice filming?
Mike
You know, just practice it.
Bobby Bones
If I told you guys the idea, you'd be like, yeah, that's. How does nobody think of that, really?
Mike
It's that good?
Bobby Bones
I think so. I think so. Even my agent, when I was talking to him about it, he was like, this is like the only idea you've ever had. Where I was like, yeah, that makes all the sense. I get some pretty stupid ideas sometimes. Limitless. Stupid idea factory over here.
Brandon
What's the ratio you think on ideas that you think of compared to what
Bobby Bones
you pitch to pitch or to get picked up? I can do both.
Brandon
Both.
Mike
I like the pitch.
Brandon
Yeah. Pitch. Pitch more than anything interests me.
Bobby Bones
I. If I come up with 10 ideas for a show, a full show, I'll flesh it out and maybe two of them while I try to get a pitch meeting with. Because I'll find through research, other shows have done similar things. Other people have tried to. It's hard to do anything original.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And things that are original don't want to be. Nobody wants to buy them because they're so original. For the most part. No one wants to risk their career.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
On spending money on something that is so original that if it fails, they. They want something they could have sound like, no. It was like Marvel. It should have worked and it didn't.
Mike
So true.
Bobby Bones
So it's both. Right. It's like with movies, like, the easiest thing to keep. To keep money coming in is to do sequels and reboots. But when an original does hit, it's massive. But if an original goes out and bombs, it's like, who greenlit this original idea? That was terrible. So it's that. So I'd say If I have 10, I flush it out. Maybe I have two. So like 20%. And I probably get one of those 10 to somebody that's mid or higher. But sometimes, too, I'm like pitching in a room to, like, cable. Like low, low cable networks sometimes. This was a network. And then how many get picked up? I'll pitch 100. None.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Nice.
Mike
Tough man.
Bobby Bones
None. And then occasionally, like, one out of no number.
Kevin
How far has one gotten?
Bobby Bones
Very far. I had an idea, and I'll tell you this idea. I had an idea that I called the pr. I may have even mentioned some of this to some of you guys, maybe off the air or maybe on. I don't remember. But I called the president of Nat Geo, whose name is Courtney Monroe, who I've known forever because she did my shows over there, and I was like, hey, I don't want to pitch this idea to you. I want to do this with my own money myself. Do you think that I could get, like, presidents and prime ministers to, like, answer my call? I was like, could you help me with contacts? She goes, what is your idea, weirdo? And I was like, I want to travel to all these countries, and I just want to go sit with, like, their world leaders and know nothing about them, but interview them as like. But about not. Not about politics at all.
Mike
Personal stuff.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And show, like, what the country is and then go and talk with, like, the freaking leader of their world to anybody around there. I said, I just want to go do that because I have not seen. There are lots of travel shows, but I want to go to the freaking president and see these super powerful people that if we saw walking down the road, we wouldn't know them from anybody else, but in their part of the world, they're massive. And she's like, that idea is insane. She goes, but if anybody can pull that off, I think you can. And so I said, okay, well, what do I do? And she's like, I can give you a few email addresses to, like, a couple constantly. A couple offices, and you can start there. So then I started talking with. Because she hooked me. And Mariana Van Zeller, she travels around the world.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And so Mariana and I. And the idea has a little more texture to it. I want to say the whole thing because I don't want somebody to take it from me. We met about it, we developed it out, we went and we pitched it to, like, three different places. Two of them loved it. One was, like, too expensive. I can't travel and stay gone. Which is the problem, because you don't really want to travel. Go shoot one, fly all the way home. You need to get a production team and go out, and if you're going to do Europe, do, like, four right there by each other and then come home. And so financially, we really couldn't make it make sense, but we got pretty far.
Kevin
That's really cool.
Brandon
But it's not totally off the table.
Bobby Bones
It is, because I can't travel. I was just gonna do it myself and pay for it originally. I could do that one at a time, probably. But again, I don't know if they're gonna even answer my call.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So it was a version of that kind of travel show. But I'm like, meeting with every freaking. Because it's hilarious, me sitting in the. Their version of the White House with the president of Portugal. It was that kind of travel show.
Brandon
And talking. No politics.
Bobby Bones
None. That's awesome.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I love it. I don't care anything. I don't. I don't even want to know what side you're on. Yeah, like, somebody have a translator with me. But, like, I want to know. Like, I'm interviewing for a Bobby cast. I want to like the family stuff.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like, what are you good at? Let's go do it. Are you good at playing baseball as a kid?
Kevin
Right.
Bobby Bones
And I'm not going to feel weird about asking if it were here. And I were like, hey, Trump, let's go play catch. Or, hey, Biden, let's kick a soccer. I'm gonna feel weird because I know their prominence and it's gonna go like, they probably don't have time for this, but if I don't know anything about them, that helps. Like, I care nothing about how embarrassing it is to ask them if they want to go out and, you know, play tiddlywinks.
Brandon
So great game.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So that was one that got really far. But there was just a couple. Money was a deal, and I. Because I couldn't go out and shoot three or four at a time. And you gotta have a crew with you. That's. That's why Breaking Bobby. No, no. Yeah. It's why we can do that show anymore. Because they want. Nat Geo went global after my season, for the most part, where a lot of their content is global, more than they were doing in different countries. And they were like, hey, we've got to be more global. Can you go to Europe for four episodes at a time or. And I'm like, I can't. I got to do this show. So that's. That was pretty much the demise of that show as well.
Brandon
How long does that take? Like four episodes? A couple of weeks.
Bobby Bones
We shot Breaking Bobby Bones. We shot it very quick because I had to do it on weekends because of the show. Yeah. It would take us three days to shoot an episode. Wow. Dang. So you're looking at, if we're going to shoot four episodes, two weeks. I just can't be gone from this place. Yeah, I can be gone, but I've got to be, like, dialed in. And if we're moving country to country. Look, Mike and I went down in. To South America.
Mike
Would y' all go Costa Rica.
Bobby Bones
Costa Rica. And lived in a hotel for two months. And we were stationary. And it was hard. Yeah, that was tough. It was tough. So anyway, who cares? But that's the deal. I just pitched a show. All that because Riley Greene is doing the Voice. And I was like, man, I wonder if they're trying him out.
Mike
One more question. When you get turned down, you don't get turned down.
Bobby Bones
You just don't hear anything.
Mike
Okay. When you don't hear anything, do you get sad?
Bobby Bones
For a little bit at first, when I first started doing it, and mostly it wasn't pitching shows. It was me getting, hey, we would like for you to be on the show or host a show, and then you do all these meetings, and then you never hear anything back.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
They ultimately ghost you every time.
Brandon
Dang.
Bobby Bones
So. And again, it's a hundred. It's zero wins, 100 losses every time. If you do get a win, it's not even in the. It's. It's so rare. But that's everybody all the time.
Mike
I know. But I would feel like the biggest loser.
Bobby Bones
You do it first. And then because you would get so excited about going into these meetings and you're like, oh, I'm about to show them. You ever hear actors talk about going in for all these auditions where they don't. They're not, like, super pumped, but they're also not sad. It's just part of the day. They just go in and do an audition. That's what it ends up being.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
You're going. Probably not going to get it. It'd be cool if I did. Let me go in and razzle dazzle them. I've actually never gotten anything from a meeting. I have gotten things from someone that was in a meeting when they did something else.
Brandon
I was going to say a lot of those, like, script writers talked about it too, where they'll be like, oh, I pitched this. Didn't get picked up there. But two years later, I got a call from this person.
Bobby Bones
It's exactly what happened with Snake in the Grass. Because I went to an open casting call for a daytime talk show on abc. They said, hey, we're. And it was. They brought in the junior varsity first. And I was part of the junior varsity. It was me, Housewives. I never heard of Lance Bass, Mailman. And so day one, we're at. We're in this big TV studio, and there's like seven. I remember getting in the elevator with Keisha Knight Pullum, Rudy Huxtable.
Mike
Oh, Rudy.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So they had. If you had a name that had a star beside it or check mark, you were coming in.
Mike
Wow.
Bobby Bones
And so that first day, I go and I made it out of Hunger Games, which is Day one. And so I go to day two, which they're bringing in the real people they're considering. I saw, like, Juliana Rancic, because she was on E. At the time. That's when I met Deion Sanders. They were bringing in the people for that. And so then they started doing it again with us, with the people that made it out of day one. And so we do that, and I make it to, like, the top eight. And Deon Sanders is one of those guys, too. And so then I end up getting the show. And so it's me, Deion Sanders, another girl who was kind of like the setup person. And it was a daytime talk show on abc. And so we're like, dude, we shot the pilot. They spent, like, 2 million bucks on the pilot. And there was some leadership change inside of abc. So the President, I think the president. The network changed. And so the person that's funding it leaves their idea. The new person ain't gonna put on a show they have nothing to do with. So we did the whole pilot. It was pretty good. And they were like, ah, we're not gonna pick it up. And so we had done the whole process. That's how Dion and I got to know each other. Cause we worked together every day for a month. And so I was like, ah, dang. So it got all the way to pilot. We shot, it got picked up. We already did contracts. Because once it gets picked up, everybody's already under contract. We'd already negotiated contracts if it were to work. Wow. So that gets canceled or not picked up. But one of the secondary producers, not even the main producer, ends up slowly rising through the ranks at different networks. And I knew her a little bit and kept in touch with her. And she called me one random day, and she was like, hey, could you do a reality show in South America? And I was like. I was like, as what? She goes to the host, and I'm like, I don't know. I was like, what? What month? She's like, we need to leave in, like, three weeks, and our host has fallen through. And I said, I don't know. I would love to. Let's see if we can make it work. So we got on the Zoom the next day, and it was her as being, like, the third or fourth producer who saw that entire process, who remembered me, who then when they needed a host, Because I think, like, Mike Rowe fell through or somebody for a snake in the Grass because he had to deal with Paramount or with Peacock. He fell through. And they were like, let's just Call Bobby. He can do it quick. He has a skill set. And that's why I moved to South America with Mike to do that show. It wasn't about me getting anything. It was about me doing it when I didn't get it, them remembering me and going, let's go to that guy because we liked him. Yeah, that's crazy, because I didn't get it.
Brandon
Wow.
Bobby Bones
I've tried so many things, and I don't know anything that I've, like, gone. American Idol was. I got that sort of through a room. I go after the daytime talk show. They were trying to find a place to put me anywhere because I had a contract with abc and they thought, oh, this guy's different. He's from the South. He's. He's relatable, kind of likable. They'd done a bunch of research on me and New York and la. They weren't really turned off by me. I wasn't, like, so rural that they were like, this guy's not us. But people in middle America liked me. And so they were like, let's find a spot for you. And I remember sitting in the lobby and I was talking to this British lady because I was going to do a meeting and she was going to a meeting, and it felt like prison, where you don't ask what you're in here for.
Mike
Right. Just sit there, man.
Bobby Bones
I didn't really want to. I didn't know. To be like, hey, what do you do? And so I was talking to her, and so they call her away, and I was like, good to see. I, like, knew about her kids and she was older, but she goes away. And I'm sitting there in this ABC Disney room, and they're like, okay, Rob will see you now. And so I go open this big office, and he's in this room and he's sitting with her, that lady. And I was like, dang. She was the executive producer of American Idol. I had no idea, really. I wasn't even really going in for Idol. She had said that she was talking with me out there. I was the meeting after her. And so I went in and I was like, hey, you're her. We were just sitting out there and she was like, yeah. She goes, why don't you come on Idol for an episode or two? Because I was talking to him about what you do. We need that. And so I did two, which turned into, like, five that season, which turned into four seasons. That is crazy from sitting in a lobby talking to somebody, dude.
Mike
And you could have easily Just sat there and said nothing.
Kevin
Like not bothered.
Mike
Like, said nothing. Read the magazine that was on the table.
Bobby Bones
That was it.
Mike
Wow, that's amazing.
Bobby Bones
So I didn't even get it in that room. I got it from what was happening around the room.
Mike
Wow.
Brandon
See, this is like that show you. You pitch about going traveling the world. You didn't know anything about her. You just talked to her, and look what it led to.
Bobby Bones
She was the executive producer of American Idol for all the seasons that I was on. She still takes me sometimes.
Mike
That's crazy.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.

What's up, guys? This is Clifford Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, the Clifford Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an Internet famous referee.
Mike
We're in the middle of a game, this linebacker. Linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What?
Bobby Bones
Time out. Look, quarterback on.
Mike
Off is blue 42.
Bobby Bones
Hey, ref, my mama wants you to weigh better.
Mike
What?
Bobby Bones
Where's she at?
Mike
Hey, Ms. Parker.
Bobby Bones
Listen to the Clifford show on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Mike
What's the one where you were in the lobby and you. Who was in there? Not Kara Knightley.
Bobby Bones
Kate Beckinsale.
Mike
Kate Beckinsale. Where were you in that one?
Bobby Bones
I was just trying to decide what agent I was gonna go with.
Mike
So you're in the agency office, and
Bobby Bones
she was in there, and I was like, oh, my God, this is like 10 years ago. I was like, oh, my God, That's Kate Beckinsale right there. Beautiful.
Mike
That's wild. Gosh, that'd be crazy.
Bobby Bones
It's crazy. That's a crazy one.
Mike
No small talk. There's.
Bobby Bones
I did. No. She small talk to me. She did super small. She was like, hey, how are you? How long. I think she said, how long have you been in here? I think wondering how long the waits were. And I was like, I've been in here. Oh, my God,
Mike
that's awesome, dude.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So, yeah, my whole point with that is I bet Riley Green had to practice. Yes.
Brandon
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Riley Green. So. And also, the point is, you never know. Like, again, I've sat in so many rooms and I've missed everything, but I've been around rooms, and that's got me in. And also, my failures in rooms have gotten me in later as well, but I've never got in a room. And they're like, boom, you're the one. And then they hired me.
Mike
Ever.
Kevin
But it's just showing up.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Which is crazy because I Had a pretty good run where it was like anything was just happening, one thing to the next. But yeah, man, what if what. What's really happening and what it seems like are two different things?
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Cuz that's all rejection. Yeah. To the point where I'm not. It doesn't even disenfranchise me anymore. I'm just like, oh, no, nothing will work. But I'm just going to keep chunking at it because you never know when one does.
Brandon
You're right.
Bobby Bones
So there you go. There's your moment of inspiration for the day.
Mike
I like it.
Bobby Bones
Thank you. So anyway, go to Rio.
Mike
Because you never know what's going to happen in Rio.
Bobby Bones
You never know what's going to happen, who you'll meet.
Mike
Right.
Bobby Bones
Kevin, I. Eddie says that you're getting rid of the truck.
Mike
Sad. This is sad, man.
Brandon
Yeah.
Mike
Well, first, I mean, what kind of truck do you have?
Brandon
I have a Tundra. It's only two years old now. I've had it for a year, but it's 2 years old. 20, 24.
Bobby Bones
It's a pretty cool truck.
Brandon
Dude, it's a nice truck. Thank you.
Mike
It's big, right?
Brandon
Yeah. Full size. My first full size 4x4 truck.
Mike
Yes.
Brandon
Got it a year ago, right before the kids were born.
Mike
A manly truck.
Brandon
Oh, manly dude. Manly. Like it looks cool, it drives nice, it's fast, it's powerful, but at the end of the day, like, it hasn't treated me the best. And the place I have to take it to get it fixed and worked on. Not gonna name any names out there, but they're driving me crazy every time I take it in there. We have major issues. Just their customer service. So anyways, long story short, I gotta be unselfish here. We got to get a new car because I gotta appraise and. And the price I can get for it is pretty dang good still.
Mike
For the trade in.
Brandon
For the trade in. And so now I'm like, okay, go to my wife. Like, it's time. We need to get a new family car.
Bobby Bones
So I gotta.
Brandon
I'm trading in the truck and we're gonna get an suv.
Mike
He's getting a minivan.
Brandon
Yeah, I'm not getting a minivan.
Mike
You said you're getting a minivan.
Brandon
I am. No, I did not say I'm getting a minivan. Well, maybe I said I'm getting a family car.
Kevin
They're pretty cool these days, man.
Brandon
Okay. I'm not. Hey, I. I know there's a reason we haven't test drove them at all because we know we're gon like it. But my wife is like, I am not driving a minivan. I don't care what you say. I don't care the price, I don't care the comfort, anything. I'm not driving a minivan. So we're gonna get an suv.
Bobby Bones
I bet another kid would have you reopening if you're gonna get a minivan.
Mike
Have you ever driven a minivan?
Bobby Bones
No, but I was very anti suv. Not for kid. I have one now, obviously, but I just can't see very well. And so I'd hit potholes in cars. Had some nice cars.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And I was just popping wheels like crazy. And my wife's like, you can't. You got to get suv. I'm like, I don't want that's old person thing, just SUV in general. I'm driving cars only. And she's like, no. And so I popped a wheel on my last car and I traded it in. So I have an suv and it works perfect with the baby seat.
Mike
Yeah, perfect.
Bobby Bones
And so.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But I don't.
Mike
Dude, I rented a minivan one time we went to Miami and I was like, what are we doing in this thing? Oh my gosh, it's so old. We look old in this. It's stupid. Dude, I, I love that.
Bobby Bones
It's awesome.
Mike
I mean, the door slide, you can put, put a. You can even put like YouTube TV or whatever. And it goes to all the screens. All the kids have their own headphone jacks. Like, it was unbelievable.
Bobby Bones
You have a lot of kids?
Mike
We have four boys. Yeah.
Brandon
Yeah. And I even the guy was telling us one time, he was like, you guys don't even want to look because you're going to want to buy one. He's like, dude, the back seats, like the third row reclines. They have coolers in there now.
Mike
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
I don't think I could have my SUV with a second kid.
Mike
Yeah, you need a minivan or just a bigger suv.
Brandon
Bigger one. Because even like my wife now she has a 4Runner. It's like 10, 12 years old now, which is a good size, A big car, but it's with two kids, it's too small.
Kevin
Right.
Brandon
And like getting in and out and like loading them in and out and me trying to drive comfortably with them in the car. So yeah, we need a bigger, bigger full size car.
Kevin
And when they start sports.
Brandon
Yeah, that too.
Mike
Did you guys, when you were a kid, did you like ride in the back of the pickup truck?
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah.
Mike
So you can do that with your
Bobby Bones
kids, go to jail. Now, I think you drove down the road with a kid in the back. They pull you over back in the day, Cops wave at you.
Mike
I was telling someone the other day that my dad. I remember just vivid memories of my dad going over railroad tracks. He's like. He's like, all right, take your seat belts off. And he's gonna. I'm gonna go as fast as I can. And you hit the track and we throw you out. Dude, it was the greatest memories ever. There's no way we can do that.
Brandon
Or the station wagons where you're facing the back, the people behind you. Those are crazy.
Bobby Bones
I never wrote on one of those.
Brandon
No, it had the seats in the very back. Like, the third row. Literally, you face behind you. So you'd be like, if you're at a stoplight, you're looking at the car right behind you. And they figured out, yeah, if you get rear ended, you're probably gonna die. So it's probably not a good idea.
Bobby Bones
Let me see what I put on my notes here on 25W. Okay. Did you watch Wimby elbow?
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It was not read right.
Brandon
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Got kicked out in the second quarter. So stupid.
Mike
Man.
Bobby Bones
That's a pretty brutal elbow.
Brandon
Yeah, that's pretty bad.
Mike
Yeah, but they were harassing him big time, too. Like, for at least three plays before that.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Mike
And then he would just give me the ball.
Bobby Bones
It's spurs fan talking.
Mike
Sorry.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, brutal elbow.
Mike
You know why else I was pissed because they didn't do early exit on that, and I lost all.
Bobby Bones
But I don't think you get early exit.
Mike
It's not an injury. I know. I did my research. I found that out. All my parlays with Wimby, dude, gone.
Brandon
All of them.
Bobby Bones
They're two. Two in that series now.
Mike
I know. And they almost won that game. That game without Wimby. They almost pulled it off. And then Ant man went. Ant Man.
Bobby Bones
And the fact that he's playing after his leg did that. Yeah, it's pretty wild. Yeah, because they were like, he's gonna miss Weeks.
Brandon
He didn't miss anything right in this series.
Bobby Bones
At least this.
Mike
He missed one. No, he didn't.
Bobby Bones
Last series.
Brandon
Last year.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, not the series Nick swept.
Brandon
Yeah, they're.
Mike
Dude, they're so good. They're so good.
Bobby Bones
It's like Carl Anthony Towns is a different player when he's not playing for Tibbs.
Brandon
Yeah, it's very true, actually. Probably a lot of guys are like that, I'm sure.
Bobby Bones
Well, you don't have to play every second of every minute of every game. So, yeah, the Knicks are good. The Thunder obviously are awesome. They suffocate you defensively. Lakers don't have a chance. Luka's not playing. Lakers have. Lakers probably have a chance anyway. But without Luka playing, Lakers really had no chance. LeBron gets Superman for. For a series, but the Thunder is just too good.
Kevin
They just have to win one more, right?
Bobby Bones
I think it's 3, 0.
Brandon
Yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
As of right now, what's the other series?
Mike
Detroit and Cleveland.
Bobby Bones
It's the one I care about.
Mike
Cleveland.
Bobby Bones
The east is wild because obviously, Kevin. Celtics are out.
Brandon
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
That was. That was who everybody thought was coming out of the East.
Brandon
I know. And now the Knicks. I mean, yeah, the Sixers beat the Celtics in seven, and then the Knicks just rolled over them. So it's like, okay, well, maybe it's the Knicks.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Now Knicks look really good. So there's that. UFC was this weekend.
Mike
UFC was awesome. This weekend. Yeah, you bet it. I did that. So there was. I probably lost every single fight. All. Every single one. All the way through prelims, all the main card everything. Until the last fight. Strickland was fighting this guy named Shivaev or something.
Bobby Bones
Lost, right. Didn't everybody predict him to lose?
Mike
Oh, Strickland was a massive underdog. Ended up winning the fight. I mean, I want 100. I won a hundred dollars, so basically just want all my money back. But, I mean, it was. I needed that win so bad. But the fight before that, dude, was crazy. It was this. The champ of the. I think they were flyweights. Maybe he was the champ. And then there was this Japanese guy, and the champ was just beating up on the Japanese guy. Knocked him out like two or three times. He still got up. It was like, Rocky. Like, his face was this big. It was red, bleeding, but he'd still get up and start fighting back. Dude, it went all five rounds. It was awesome.
Bobby Bones
So did he end up losing?
Mike
He lost. He lost.
Bobby Bones
You walked us through that. And he still lost.
Mike
He still lost. I thought he was gonna come back, but it was so Rocky.
Bobby Bones
Rocky one. Rocky one.
Mike
Rocky one. He loses.
Brandon
Okay, Rocky. I thought you're saying Rocky w o n 1. I was like, wait, now I'm confused.
Mike
And then Rocky 2. Does Hugh.
Bobby Bones
Rocky. He wins, doesn't he? And then at the end, they do that thing where they punch each other at the same time.
Mike
Yeah. In the ring.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. They're like after hours. I. Let me see if I can remember this right. Rocky 1. He loses Rocky 2. I don't know. I feel like he wins. He may look this up.
Mike
I feel like it was a draw.
Bobby Bones
Rocky. Maybe Rocky 3 is the one with Mr. T. Hulk Hogan.
Mike
Correct.
Bobby Bones
Rocky 4 is the best. That's the Russian.
Mike
That's The Russian.
Bobby Bones
Rocky 5. I don't know.
Mike
Rocky 5 is. He goes back. He loses all his money and goes back home and he. And he tries to train this kind of a guy named Tommy Gunn.
Bobby Bones
Oh, Tommy Gunn, Remember that? Yeah. Cuz Tommy Morrison had AIDS after that. Remember that?
Mike
Yes. That's his real. That's the real guy's name, Mike.
Bobby Bones
What do you see? I think he. They both go down in Rocky 2. And then Rocky gets back up and wins.
Mike
Oh, Rocky wins in two, huh? That's cool.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Brandon
Team Creed.
Bobby Bones
Tommy Morrison had AIDS.
Mike
I didn't know that.
Bobby Bones
And was that called Rocky 5 or was that called like Rocky?
Mike
No, that's Rocky 5. And then there's Rocky.
Bobby Bones
Well, then there's Rocky Balboa.
Mike
Just Balboa.
Brandon
I did watch the whole. I haven't finished. I got one more to go. But the Hulk Hogan documentary, because they talked about Rocky, him being in that and how that like catapulted him.
Mike
Oh, I bet.
Bobby Bones
What's your biggest takeaway from that documentary?
Brandon
Hulk. Loved him. Some Hulk for sure.
Bobby Bones
And
Brandon
the biggest takeaway? Well, the biggest surprise. Not surprise, but the thing I can't stop thinking about while watching it is like he's alive, obviously, while they film this. And then so I'm just thinking the whole time while watching this like he's not alive anymore. So it's like a little eerie to watch at the same time. So I guess that's probably my biggest thing is just like watching something knowing he's not alive. But they filmed it almost as if he's alive.
Bobby Bones
It was the last thing I think he did before he died because he went into surgery.
Brandon
And he looks fine like in the documentary. I mean, he looks old and like just body wear and tear. But. Yeah.
Mike
Why did you watch it?
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah, I watched it as soon as it came out.
Mike
What was your takeaway?
Bobby Bones
This is gonna sound stupid, but how big he was, because wrestlers against wrestlers, it's like NFL players. You really don't realize how big they are until you see them next to you because they're all out there against other giants out there on the field. But he's like 6, 7, 6, 8. Yeah. And he was even big for a wrestler. But Hulk Hogan was never the guy to us that was marketed as like the Biggest guy. He was always fighting the big guys, the Andre, the Giants, the King Kong Bundys, the all the big guy. So he wasn't the biggest guy. They had to find even bigger guys, but just how massive he was. Because you don't hear Hulk Hogan and go, he was the biggest of the wrestlers, but he was a monster.
Brandon
Yeah, I didn't realize. Yeah, that's another thing, too. And another. How big he was, like in pop culture, because I wasn't around then, so I don't remember. But he was basically the Michael Jordan before Michael, where he, you know, he took basketball to a world level. Hulk took wrestling to the world level. And it was very regional at the time, so that was a big thing,
Bobby Bones
too, that I learned the big fight on Twitter right now. Is, is Hulk Hogan the most important wrestler ever? Or could Vince McMahon have made anybody Hulk Hogan and made them the most important wrestler ever?
Mike
Well, can't both be true?
Bobby Bones
I don't think both can be true. Because if you think Vince McMahon could have made anybody big, it didn't matter who it was. I think it was them together for sure. But I don't think Vince McMahon could have made anybody and could have spread it. Or he would have. Right.
Brandon
Even in that documentary. I mean, they had to. Or they tried to get his replacement.
Bobby Bones
Ultimate Warrior.
Brandon
Yes.
Bobby Bones
What do you mean? You don't know Ultimate Warrior? You know the Ultimate Warrior? Oh, me too. I loved ultimate more than Hulk Hogan.
Mike
He had the face paint.
Brandon
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
I was never a Hulk Hogan guy.
Brandon
Okay, well, that makes sense.
Bobby Bones
Hulk Hogan was always very mid to me. I didn't dislike him and I rooted for him, but I was never liked them.
Mike
The. Never popular.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Didn't like the cowboys in the 90s. Didn't like Michael Jordan and the Bulls. Didn't like Hulk Hogan. All those are just the winners. So I didn't like them. I love the Ultimate Warrior and it turns out he's a terrible dude.
Mike
Really?
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
There's a story that Undertaker tells on this podcast. I've watched a clip of it a couple times where his name was Jim Helwig. He was Ultimate Warrior. Bad wrestler, too, but had a great body. Right. Like you see him. That dude is a freaking maniac in the weight room. And obviously was on steroids. Probably.
Mike
Obviously.
Bobby Bones
But he said that Warrior would go into the airports and he would wear like Ultimate Warrior stuff everywhere. Like big, bright face paint. Wasn't on, but you'd know by his denim. He like Ultimate Warrior written on his back. And he'd wear Pants or like. And said that they were going to the airport because they traveled all the time. And you knew that it was Ultimate Warrior by what he was wearing. This kid comes up and he's like, hey, Ultimate Warrior, can I get an autograph? And he's like, leave me the flow. And Undertaker was like, dude, you can't do that. Like, one, you're advertising on every part of you, who you are. Yeah. And then two, and there are no phone. So it never got out. It was never recorded. But he said, you can't treat a kid like that. He said, now if you want to wear nothing and, like, hide in the corner and someone comes up to you not feeling good, you can say that. But don't be Ultimate Warrior and then scream at a kid for coming up to you.
Brandon
Fun fact.
Kevin
Bobby was that kid.
Bobby Bones
It was me. Wow, Mike, you ever heard that story? Yeah, yeah.
Brandon
Full circle.
Mike
And it's also too, like, you're obviously looking for attention because you're wearing all your ultimate.
Bobby Bones
Like, you're that guy. Ultimate Warrior was awesome. He's my second favorite in that time frame, other than Sting, by far.
Brandon
But it's funny to hear all the other wrestlers talk about Ultimate Warrior. Like, they all hated him in that. Yeah, they're like, he's the worst. Don't know why he got set up like that.
Bobby Bones
The only wrestler that I hear people talk about more negatively about how bad they would wrestle and hurt people and not on purpose. They just weren't good and they got lifted way too fast. Mike, you know who I'm going to say? I don't think so? Goldberg.
Kevin
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
His ascent was way too fast. He was winning championships. He was. He looked great. So he was out, but he was hurting people because he didn't really know how to wrestle. And he's doing like, a spear.
Mike
And so he wasn't hurting people to hurt people?
Bobby Bones
No, just accidentally.
Kevin
The Jackhammer, he was a big boy, too, man.
Bobby Bones
He was awesome. When he came and he was on that streak, like, nobody would beat the goal. Goldberg, you come out.
Kevin
That's a big Goldberg guy.
Bobby Bones
Me too. I love Goldberg. I have a Goldberg signed belt in my house somewhere. Championship belt. I haven't seen that thing in forever.
Mike
But buy that or win that, like on a break or something.
Bobby Bones
I bought it a long time ago. Unless somebody stole it. I haven't thought about that belt. I've had it for a long time, but I have a Goldberg signed belt. Mike, did you watch any of the PLA's weekend? No, not a second of It. I don't either. I watch clips. What is ple Premium live event.
Brandon
Oh, that's right.
Bobby Bones
Are you doing Danhausen? Yeah. Do you guys know anything about Dan housing?
Mike
No.
Brandon
No.
Mike
Nothing. It sounds like you guys like it.
Bobby Bones
It'd be lost. Dan housing would be lost on you. But your kids would love it.
Brandon
I was like, if WrestleMania wasn't up
Bobby Bones
to my expectations, like, why am I gonna watch Backlash? Yeah.
Brandon
Well, it's cool to see the WrestleMania one too, in that documentary. Crazy.
Mike
And now they're at what, what number?
Bobby Bones
40 40s.
Mike
Oh, wow. That's crazy.
Brandon
44.
Bobby Bones
42.
Brandon
44.
Bobby Bones
The Andre the Giant stuff's interesting because when Hulk and Andre the Giant would wrestle all the way leading to wwf at the time, Andre the Giant was always the good guy and Hulk was the bad guy. Always onto the Giant was like a beloved giant, you know, massive, but massively supported by the fans. And once he got to wwe, wf, he was the bad guy. Wow. And so Hulk Hogan was the good guy, and they had to make him be the bad guy. And they were like, they've never matched off before. That was the whole thing. But they had over and over again, all through their eyes.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Under the Giant. Man, I felt bad for that dude.
Mike
That documentary is really good too.
Bobby Bones
Like the one about him.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Him having to fly and they had to put a curtain around hotels.
Mike
Like, you couldn't get beds that can fit him. Like, really, it was impossible.
Bobby Bones
Did it make you sad he was so big, like, to use the bathroom, like, he couldn't on an airplane.
Mike
Nope.
Bobby Bones
So they have to, like. Yeah, couldn't fit in the bathroom. It's really good, though. You should watch it if you are, like, just bored looking for something to watch.
Brandon
Okay. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I forget what it's called, but I forget to think. It's under the Giant on hbo. Max. It's a good name for it.
Mike
Yeah, it makes sense.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Kevin
I mean, the fact that Hulk Hogan could body slam Andre the Giant.
Mike
That's. That's true.
Bobby Bones
My TikTok algorithm is mostly wrestling 90s wrestling. It's a lot of it. Like, I watched the new rockers wrestle last night. This is going to be so nerdy. But the new rockers were facing. They call. We call them beat up guys. But there are people. Back in the day when you'd watch wrestling, the big stars would come out and they would beat up bad wrestlers all the time. You knew who was gonna win. Now every match has gotta be good. Back in the day, it didn't matter. But the Beat up guys were the Hardy Boys. They weren't famous yet, and so. But the real wrestlers were the new rockers, so without Shawn Michaels, because he was off doing his solo stuff, but it was Marty Jannetti and this other weird dude with long hair, it turned out, was Al Snow. So I watched the new rockers beat the heart. That's what I watched the last time. So. All right, there you have it.

Mike
That's so weird to me, the whole thing. I mean, there's some really good fights, though. The card is really good. But like, dude, that's so weird.
Bobby Bones
To me, I'm too casual for the card to be good.
Mike
Oh, like you have sugar. Sean o'. Malley.
Bobby Bones
Like, I know who he is, but he's fighting somebody I don't know.
Mike
Yeah. Now, usually it's a star fighting someone that you don't know, but it's going to. They're to going. They're bringing out the best for this fight.
Bobby Bones
There is reportedly an opportunity for a small number of tickets to be purchased for those who might want to sit in the White House lawn to check out the UFC fights in person on June 14th.
Brandon
That'd be sick.
Bobby Bones
Ariel Helwani has sources that told him that a percentage of the 4,300 tickets that will go to President Donald Trump can be sold for 1.5 million each.
Mike
How many of those tickets? Well, however, because, I mean, there was a fight, I don't know, three weeks ago where Trump was there, and a lot of reps and a lot of senators were there, and it just looked bizarre because it was all these guys in suits in Vegas, you know, and, like, this is just gonna look so weird, dude.
Bobby Bones
But this. And they're building that. Starting now.
Mike
They are that. I think Chandler's fighting.
Brandon
Yeah, Michael Chandler's fighting.
Mike
Chandler's fighting.
Brandon
Mauricio Ruffy.
Bobby Bones
See, I don't know who Ruffy is.
Brandon
Me neither. He's from Brazil.
Bobby Bones
I need him to bring back Iceman.
Mike
Yeah, he's not coming back.
Bobby Bones
They should do, like, an old timer match of, like, two people. All the casuals know.
Mike
There is this one guy that fought this last weekend who's. I think that was his, like, 60th fight. Like, Jim Miller. Dude. He'd been around for a while and he won.
Bobby Bones
Really? Yeah, yeah, because they do that when they bring back the legends and they have the seniors touring golf, the champions. Yeah. I think there should be a senior tour. It's like old man fighting like Mike Tyson was. Was fighting. Freaking the Paul brother. Yeah, let's get him. Let's get old folks back in ufc.
Mike
Dude, that would be funny.
Bobby Bones
Old folk versus old folk. Randy Couture versus Iceman.
Brandon
Let's go, Rampage Jackson.
Bobby Bones
Oh, man, this.
Brandon
I don't know.
Bobby Bones
No, remember his son went out and beat the crap out of that wrestler and like.
Brandon
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like during an event, right, or something.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it was like a wrestling match and the son didn't know that. It was like, a bit.
Mike
Oh, I do remember.
Bobby Bones
Jumped in the ring on the stream and beat the guy and, like, had to go to the hospital.
Brandon
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Might he go to Jail?
Brandon
I think so.
Bobby Bones
Let me check.
Brandon
Oh, four days ago. He pleases a deal. Takes plea deal Four days ago. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
What do you see?
Brandon
Raja son has accepted a plea deal with prosecutors stemming from his 2025 August. His sentencing date is settled for June, but he pled no contest to the felony count of battery. Anticipated sentence is 90 days and $81,000 in fines.
Bobby Bones
So I'll spend a month in jail? Probably.
Brandon
Yeah, probably.
Bobby Bones
Did you watch that? The shooting at Hawthorne Hill?
Brandon
Oh, yeah. The Untold.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, you watch it too? What's it. Is it a horse?
Mike
What is that?
Brandon
Yeah. Do you guys remember this? Because I. I don't, but tell me the whole story. Okay, so there's a former US Olympian horse rider. There's a right word. Ambassador something. But anyways, he. He won gold way back in the day. And then now he has a big old compound in New York or New Jersey where he trains people, you know, that come stay on his land for weeks or months at a time, and he trains them with these horses. And so we had this thing going for a while, and then some girl showed up. This is what, in 2018, I believe. And she just ended up just being a little. A little cuckoo? A little crazy romantically for him? No, just like she wanted to, like, ride his top of the line horses, but she was not a top of the line race or a rider. So she would like, basically kind of steal his horses and go to these events and like compete in these events with his horses without him knowing.
Bobby Bones
They didn't know she was stealing the horses.
Brandon
I know, I. I know somehow they didn't. They never got into that, which I didn't really understand, but somehow she was taking these horses to these events and he would, like, have to try to stop her as she's already going there. But she ended up still using the horse.
Kevin
Right? I think he let her use it one time when she was starting out.
Brandon
Yeah, when she was starting. Yeah. But training, not even assumed that she got to.
Kevin
She would get to use it every time. So she would find ways to take the horse and.
Brandon
Yeah, and she was crazy.
Bobby Bones
So far I haven't been convinced to watch it.
Mike
No, not really.
Brandon
And his head, one of his head trainers, the is a female and she would train this girl all the time. And then so he ended up just getting angry at her and she would backlash at him, and it turned into like, she would go on social media, Facebook and stuff and like these, I mean, paragraphs of stuff with like cryptic things inside of there, like, I'm Coming for you and your family. This is all why she's living on his land, too, still.
Bobby Bones
Who is this? The trainer or the. I'm not watching this.
Mike
When does someone get shot?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, exactly. At the end, this hulking show up. Like, what's happening here?
Mike
We need something that sucks.
Brandon
So at the end, yeah, he ends up. He ends up going to make an appearance.
Kier Gaines
Where are they?
Mike
At the bunny ranch?
Brandon
Come on. I'm not gonna lie. I mean, the other ones were definitely better.
Bobby Bones
Better.
Brandon
The untold. But it was. A lot of people remember this. I mean, it was all over the news. My wife remembers it, and so that's why I was wondering if you guys remember it. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Not only do I not remember it, when I leave this room today, I'm not gonna remember you telling me this story. That's how boring that story was.
Brandon
So he shoots her. Yeah. And it's just like. Honestly, you don't really shoot, sir. He shoots her.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my God.
Brandon
Brandon, why don't you leave with that?
Kevin
That's what the story was. So we're like, okay, here's the backstory. And then we're getting to the shoot.
Mike
You imagine the trailer was like, yeah,
Bobby Bones
this crazy girl stole horses on social media. It was cr. Dick.
Brandon
Damn it. We failed. Okay, so anyway, this guy shoots her, and they. But you don't know who believe because they're both in it. I mean, she survived, but they're both in it.
Mike
But he shot her.
Brandon
But he shot her. And he's not in jail anymore.
Bobby Bones
I watched the Oscar. Oscar Pistorius. Remember that?
Mike
Oh, that was crazy.
Bobby Bones
That's got some shooting. Yeah, yeah, that's some shooting.
Mike
And then, like, people. What's crazy about that one is that the neighbors interview the neighbors, and they're like, oh, I remember hearing those. The arguments.
Bobby Bones
Because he was like a superhero to people because he ran with the. The fake legs. Yeah, the prosthetic legs. And he was like, Olympian, I think. South Africa.
Mike
Correct.
Bobby Bones
And then shot her through the wall, if I remember correctly. The bathroom door.
Mike
Yes. Bathroom door.
Bobby Bones
Now, see, that's a story.
Brandon
Okay? But the crazy part about this guy is he got acquitted because he claimed insanity. Insanity because he's blacked out. He doesn't remember anything from the time that he decided to pick up his gun to shoot her. He doesn't remember anything in that.
Bobby Bones
I'd have a tough time as a jury believing that.
Mike
Right.
Brandon
He got acquitted.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Mike
I feel like anyone can get away with that. Like.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I don't know.
Brandon
Yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
You see the guy get Hit on the air, on the Runway.
Mike
We'll do. What on. Was that suicide?
Kevin
Oh, did he run into the engine?
Bobby Bones
They're saying he was walking on the Runway when the plane.
Mike
It was a Frontier plane, but that plane was hauling. Like it was either landing.
Bobby Bones
It was going up. I think it was going. I'm almost positive it's going up because I. What I saw was. It was black and white.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like night info gray or whatever. Newly released audio recordings capture the moment a Frontier Airlines crew realized their plane had struck and killed a person while departing Denver International Airport Friday night. The audio has been released for the moment when the Frontier pilot radioed Denver airport control to let them know they were evacuating. The flight had been cleared for takeoff. Roughly 30 seconds into the roll, the pilot abruptly. Abruptly stopped the aircraft.
Mike
Wow.
Bobby Bones
That was a crazy video.
Mike
It was very crazy. And I thought. I thought it happened in a different country because of. Of what they were showing.
Bobby Bones
Because somebody was on a Runway. Yeah, that's what I thought. How does a normal human get on a Runway in a major metropolitan airport?
Mike
That. And they were getting people off the plane, you know, right by the engine where he got sucked in.
Bobby Bones
Oh.
Mike
And like, dude, you could see everything in the engine.
Bobby Bones
Oh.
Mike
And I was like an individual walking across the Runway. We've got smoke in the aircraft. We're gonna evacuate on the Runway.
Brandon
He's just, like, casually strolling.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, he's just walking. Yeah.
Brandon
Wow.
Bobby Bones
There is a brewery that sold a 100 milliliter bottle of sake for $645,000. Is sake good?
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
What is sake? Like,
Mike
I would like. I always feel like it's like hot tea with vodka.
Brandon
That's a good one, right?
Kevin
That seems right.
Brandon
But sometimes you can get a cold.
Mike
Really?
Brandon
You can do cold or hot. They both suck.
Mike
It's one of those things, man. You know, where you go to, like, a Japanese restaurant, you're like, this sounds fun, and you get it. You're like, ah, I don't know. This is a bad idea.
Brandon
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So it was brewed in space. They sent rice and ingredients up to the International Space Station, where astronauts oversaw the fermentation process in zero gravity.
Mike
That's kind of cool.
Bobby Bones
Again, it sold for $645,000. But if you spend that kind of money on something, you don't drink it.
Mike
No, you just keep it.
Bobby Bones
Unless you drink it and then you save your pee.
Mike
Just recycle, put it back in the bottle.
Bobby Bones
You just wasted the money. Yeah, that was one. And the other thing was a Goodwill shopper went and bought this painting. Eight bucks, and it was worth thousands of dollars, man.
Mike
How does this happen?
Bobby Bones
The mother said she mistook the painting for a print, has now placed it behind a glass frame. Yeah, it's worth a ton of money. We tried that bit.
Mike
We did try it. And I took my kids with me to go find my painting or whatever, and they still remember it. They're just like, dad, we should go back and look for more paintings.
Bobby Bones
Oh, like, that's just a fun thing,
Mike
because that story is cool, man. If you found, like, a Rembrandt at Goodwill, awesome. Would that be all right?
Bobby Bones
That's it. Thank you, everybody, for being here. It's a slow sports time.
Brandon
Yeah, Yeah, a little bit.
Bobby Bones
We can't even remember the fourth playoff game. We're like, oh, Pistons.
Mike
I think Cavs.
Bobby Bones
That's how you know it's slow.
Brandon
Yeah. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Because baseball's, like, in the early part of middle. I got a story I get to tell you guys once I'm further enough from it. I can't tell you now, but it's really good.
Mike
Is it about baseball?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. It's me running into some old players that I used to watch on TV and, like, recently. Yeah.
Mike
No way.
Bobby Bones
Okay. I can't tell you today because it would tie me to something, but I'll give it to you. I just really want to know if you guys think I'm lame for what I told him, because I. I totally nerded out. Nice time and place.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
All right, that's it. Thank you guys for being here. Appreciate you. We'll see you later. Eddie, blow the whistle.
Mike
All right.
