The Niners are in trouble and I love it. I'm just not a Niners fan. But, I mean, never want to cheer for injuries, but, dude, they have Brock Purdy's.

You want to cheer for injuries. You can't say that with that tone and expect that. We believe you.

[Kevin]

It was like a disclaimer. Yeah.

[Eddie]

I mean, first off, McCaffrey, who knows, right?

Like, he's not hurt.

I understand.

There's no who knows on him because he played an excellent game.

I know. But there's still question marks of like, how healthy is he?

I feel like that's unfair because nothing about him involves a question mark when there are people on that team that are out for weeks.

KD's out for weeks. They're playing the Saints. I mean, the Saints could beat the Niners this week, which would be crazy.

I do. Honestly, after seeing the Saints, I don't think the Saints are that bad. Start of season before I saw anything, looking at them on paper, oh, my gosh. This is the worst team ever. But they're not too bad. And I think.

I think it's a good thing that day Ball's not pulling Russ, like, let him go out suck again against Cowboys and then get pulled and you get Jackson dart that comes in. I think it's a good weekend for you. Like, care about the Giants, care about the commanders.

The Niners are always a problem for the Cowboys.

No, not since the 90s, dude. I think you're still in that. Playing them in the NFC Championship game back in the 90s.

Yeah. So going into the home opener against the Patriots, they had started this GoFundMe just in case they want McDaniel fired. Mike McDaniel, their coach. The goal of the fundraising campaign was to get enough cash to fly a fire Mike McDaniel Banner. The goal hit 900 bucks. It's at 1600 now. But now they have bigger plans where if they lose again, they want to raise more money just to go ahead.

[Eddie]

And buy them out. Hilarious.

[Bobby Bones]

It was like the woman from Alabama wanting to buy out.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

If she won the lottery.

That changed quickly.

McDaniel? Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, any.

Anything that people love you for, people are then going to hate you for if you start losing. Like, all the little interesting quirkiness about him that is so celebrated while they're winning, but the minute he loses, that's why they're losing, because of this quirkiness, because that's it. It's any interesting element of any person that does anything successful, that element is often credited and why we love them while they're winning. But it's also the reason that we go, oh, what a loser. I'll give you an example. Sam Pimmen at Arkansas, when he's winning, when he had decent years, they're like, man, he's like an everyman. He relates to the people and that's why they play for him. Now that we kind of are medium distinct, they're like, you know why they don't win? Because he's an everyman.

[Kevin]

Yeah.

[Eddie]

Yep.

[Bobby Bones]

They just use it against you the same way they built you up by it.

[Kevin]

Belichick was like that even last couple of years. It was like, well, Belichick, times are past him. And the way that he does still may be that. By the way, I know that is true.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

We still might be in that Belichick in past area. Kevin, you have anything?

Yeah, Mine is Tennessee. The Vols QB Joey Aguilar this week. Big game. And it can be even bigger because Nico has played so bad in the first couple of games for ucla. So if he goes out and beats Georgia, it's like a highly anticipated game and a lot of people like him. Brandon talks about it and it's just like if he goes out and does this and beats Georgia, then you can put Nico in the pass and really put it all to bed.

[Bobby Bones]

That'll be an interesting game, especially because they're playing at Tennessee. Knoxville is such a hard place to do anything if you're not a member of the home squad.

[Kevin]

Yes.

[Bobby Bones]

It's so loud. It's so dynamic. They don't stop playing Rocky Top the whole time. Like, I don't like Tennessee, but I respect them. I don't. I dislike Texas and I don't respect them. I just want to put that in.

[Eddie]

That's clear.

It has nothing to do with anything. I just want to say that as well.

No, no. I got a couple kids that won't allow me to go.

I could go to Ole Miss this weekend. I already told her, hey, I may go to Ole Miss. And she's like, cool.

Does she go?

She doesn't want to go. Nah. But she doesn't care. Like, she doesn't care about that.

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Can't go to Memphis because we'll be in Vegas for I heart. We will go over for the Arkansas Notre Dame game after that. Is it Tennessee? It could do that. Texas A M. Is there.

[Kevin]

Dang.

Yeah.

Well, that'd be cool.

I mean, I could probably go to like five.

So all that works, which is why when D.J. was. Well, I never said that on this show. He got offered a job. I'm not gonna say what the job was. And I was very positive about that job also. I didn't want him to take it. So I was positive about not leaving as well. And so I was glad he didn't leave because it gives us a reason to be there more than just me going for games.

[Eddie]

That's a genius, dude.

[Bobby Bones]

But it was tough cause he got offered a big job and he called me, he said, heaven offered this job. My brother in law coaches. He's the head assistant at Arkansas or he's the associate head coach at Arkansas and softball. He's like, what do you think? And I was like, pretty legit. I was like, tons of resources, great city. I said, but you know, I'm biased because nobody loves Arkansas more than me. I said, but you really have to consider this and how much money More and a lot. A lot more money. But he turned it down. And I was so happy just because I want it out selfishly.

[Eddie]

Yeah, dude, that's a big. I mean, I didn't think about that. It's funny, those are the kinds of things where like, I would see it later and be like, oh, I'm so glad that they live there. And that means I can go to so many games and my wife can see her sister. But not you. You were four, you were thinking ahead of this.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, way ahead.

[Eddie]

If he leaves, this is gonna be trouble. Yeah.

[Kevin]

Dang, that's smart.

[Eddie]

I'm trying to think where my wife's family is all spread out. I'm like, where can I go next?

I saw an ad on TikTok. And I guess it wasn't so much an ad, but it was a video that went viral of the ad of the Apple AirPods 3. When they come out, they'll be able to translate languages.

[Kevin]

Yeah.

[Eddie]

Legit.

[Kevin]

Oh, yeah. On the fly.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah. So when I watched the lady do it, because it was like the presentation on the stage and she's like, the Apple AirPods Pro 3 will feature translating AirPods. And so the person has them in and they go into a store and they only speak Spanish in the store. And so she's in and she's like, I would like these flowers. And the woman's like, would you say, what are you trying to say? They say something like, yeah, we have a lot of flowers for sale.

[Eddie]

Si tenemos munchos flores para, para compra.

[Bobby Bones]

And she's like, I don't know what that is. So she hits a button on her AirPod and then it goes, what am I supposed to say? English?

[Eddie]

Oh, yes, I have lots of flowers here to sell to you.

So she hears that.

I figure that's how it sounds, right?

[Bobby Bones]

She hears that. And then the question is, well, how do you talk back to them. And so what you do is you talk back in English, but you hold your phone out and it writes it on the phone.

In Spanish.

[Eddie]

That's legit, man.

[Bobby Bones]

Dang. How crazy is that? We used to have a Korean housekeeper, and that was a deal where we couldn't, like, it was hard. So she would, like, talk into her phone and it would spit it out in English, and then sometimes it wouldn't work. And there's a really funny thing on TikTok too, where this person, he goes and he acts like he doesn't know English, and he goes up to people just walking in a park and he'll say things like, da, da, da, da, da. I don't know what language it is. And it goes, can you lead me to the bathroom? And the person goes, yes. It's around the corner, take a left. And so it records it in. And then he hits translate back to him and he's like. And it's like something super racist.

[Kevin]

Oh, no.

[Bobby Bones]

It's like he's pranking them. That's pretty funny.

[Eddie]

That's funny.

I thought the AirPods Pro 3. That's pretty cool.

[Kevin]

That's legit. Yeah. He can travel everywhere.

One of the more intriguing things to come out of Tuesday's Big Apple event or about the AirPods Pro 3, a new live translation feature that will be part of the iOS 6.26update. A star Trek, like, universal translation feature that will record a user's speech and automatically translate it onto the screen of their iPhones to enable conversations between people who speak different languages. In addition, the update will come with changes that will expand battery life from six hours to eight. That is from Yahoo Finance.

You think you can get around in Mexico, like, knowing what you know? The Spanish that you know.

[Bobby Bones]

Not just based off the Spanish I know, like.

If they didn't know any English.

[Bobby Bones]

That's my thing. I've never been anywhere and I've been to a decent amount of places now. They always know English. I know, like, any country I've been to, even Japan, There have been parts of Japan where they didn't quite know all of it, but they still understood some of it. Yeah. So I've never felt, oh, I'm isolated and alone because nobody knows my language. I've been to places where I feel very far away from home, but everybody's always known English.

I think they are. You know they've got a quarterback in Byron Brown who's legit. Two years ago he really came onto the scene as a Guy that was even getting some notice by like NFL scouts. Then last year he got injured. He, he broke his leg, missed eight games. So we didn't quite get quite to see him back that back up. But this year he's healthy and he's a runner, he's a thrower. He's a big reason why they beat Boise State the way they did. He's the reason why they beat Florida in the Swamp with that last drive. But also, man, USF's defense has been phenomenal. I mean, they held Boise State to seven points. They, they held Florida to only 16 in the swamp. Will they beat Miami? Probably not. I think Miami's really, really good. Better than those two teams. But USF's legitimately probably maybe the best Group of Six team out there. And if that ends up being the case, they may very well end up making the playoff this year.

[Bobby Bones]

I read your article last week. I think it was Saturday night when it came out that was about USF and kind of that story. And I start to think, is their head coach, is he the new darling higher if he wins a couple more big games?

[Brandon Marcelo]

Yeah, probably so. You know, when ucf, not usf. Ucf. And then also Tennessee was getting hot under Josh Hypo, one of the big reasons why was Alex Golish. He's. He was his offensive coordinator who's calling plays. He was previously at Tennessee before USF hired him. Having said that, it may be difficult to pull Alex Gollish away from USF for a Power 4 gig. And the reason why I say that is because USF's got a lot of money. They've been investing a lot of money. They're building a $350 million football stadium right now on campus. They've invested a lot in the program, building facilities, indoor practice facility, and they're trying to become that next, you know, team that rises from not necessarily abyss, but ends up being part of Tier one. And by Tier one, I mean we're getting into an era now because of revenue sharing and nil, where a lot of people think there's another great shift coming in the next five to 10 years where, you know, like we did in 1978 when we decided to go from, you know, like a Division 1 type thing to where we had FBS and FCS teams. It's possible. Well, some people seem to think that we're going to go into a situation where it's going to be the power conferences are pretty much just playing each other and then the rest of college football is in the second tier and then the third tier is fcs. And USF wants to be part of that, that first tier and they're making those moves to do so. Financially, I think it might end up being very difficult for Alex Golish to sit there and go say, like a job, a mid tier job in the SEC were to open up. I, I think it'd probably pretty difficult to pull him away from USF for a job like that. It had to be a big gig.

[Bobby Bones]

Well, not to spend all of our time in Florida, but one other Florida thing I wanted to talk about was Billy Napier. Tough year last year. Then it got pretty good at the end and so they give him a new contract and he loses right away. So again, like, what is that program feeling right now?

[Brandon Marcelo]

They feel like they're lost in the, in the, in the swamp. They can't get out of the muck. It's crazy to think that that program has not been 20 to start a season since 2021. And that was also Dan Mullins last year, the year they fired him. So it's, there's no reason why Florida should be struggling the way they have been. You know, Billy Napier's career record is right at around.500 at Florida. That just doesn't cut it there. He's gonna have to do something pretty miraculous, I think, to keep his job this year. But the thing is there, at a job like that, you have opportunities to do so. You know, their next four opponents are all ranked, I think their next three opponents all ranked number seven or better in the AP poll. So you look at it and go, well, he's screwed. But I thought the same thing late last season, mid last season, you know, people down there were like, yeah, he's toast. So I was talking to people who even wrote an article about it, but then they reeled off all these wins against these ranked opponents. But you know, he's in a situation where he's got the talent to win. It's just, it's the same stuff popping up, up over and over again. It's penalties. I mean, you had a player spit in the face of a USF player that kept, helped keep a drive alive. You've got really bad play calls. They get the ball back with under three minutes remaining, trying to ice the game with a lead, and they end up throwing the ball and only burning like 15 seconds off the clock. It's just bad decision, bad decision and then undisciplined play. And that's been the common ground course for them for the last three Years. And Billy Napier has had every opportunity to correct that and change that, and it hasn't changed.

[Bobby Bones]

You think Arkansas could beat Ole Miss?

[Brandon Marcelo]

Yes, I picked Ole Miss, but it was very difficult. It's one of those games where you look down, up and down the list. You always go, there's going to be, you always know there's going to be like two or three upsets every week, whether it's a nationally ranked team or not. But just an upset. And that was one of the prime ones I had circled. But then when I looked at just kind of the matchups and everything, and also with it being on the road for Arkansas, I couldn't quite make that decision and pick, pick the Hogs. I, I also think that, you know, I, I completely forgot that Ole Miss just beat the crud out of them last year, scoring 63 points. Was it, I think it was a. Yeah, it's terrible.

[Bobby Bones]

Is awful. Yeah, it was embarrassing.

[Brandon Marcelo]

Never scored that many points.

[Bobby Bones]

It was like they just kept scoring too. It was like, please put in worse players. It was one of those games too, where I think it was near the end issue. I feel like we're playing a different time this year than last year and like they were trying to make their case with us, like mid to late season.

[Brandon Marcelo]

Yeah, that and, you know, I do think that there's, there's a little bit of a rivalry there from the standpoint. If you remember, two years ago, the Hogs beat the crud out of them, and then last year Ole Miss beats the crud out of Arkansas. So, so I, I, I think that there's some, some personal beef there in a lot of ways among the coaches, and I'm fascinated to see what happens, but I, I just couldn't quite pick the Hogs. Taylor Green's got to play a clean game for them to win.

[Bobby Bones]

Are you gonna go?

[Brandon Marcelo]

No, I'm, I'm doing a TV sideline this week for smu, Missouri State for CBS Sports Network. So I can't go.

[Bobby Bones]

Oh, that'd be cool.

[Brandon Marcelo]

Yeah, it should be fun. It's supposed to be like 96 degrees on the sideline. I gotta wear a sports coat. So that might be like Bruce Pearl out there sweating through sports coat.

Were you in Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Michigan last week?

[Brandon Marcelo]

Yeah. Yeah.

What'd you think, What'd you think about Mater?

[Brandon Marcelo]

I, I thought he looked great. He took the game over at times when he had to ran the ball 19 times. They weren't expecting that, but he had to do it to, to kind of clinch that win. I Never felt like Oklahoma was in threat of losing that game against Michigan and oh, he's only going to get better this year, man. Mattier and that offense. I think he's one of those type of quarterbacks that's going to make everybody around him better week to week, but also that's going to transcend, transcend the offense and I think bleed over to the defense, which I think is already good. I think OU could be an, an SEC championship contender by the end of the year. I really do.

[Bobby Bones]

Clemson did not look great against Troy. They ended up winning it and they're going to Georgia Tech this week. They're only a four point favorite. Like, what is this Clemson team even?

[Brandon Marcelo]

I, I can't make sense of it, man. Like it's the same issues offensively we saw that were issues two years ago popping back up. They can't really run the ball effectively. Kate club next. Making mistakes that are almost unforced errors at times. I thought they got over that last year and apparently not now. It might just be one game hiccup against Troy, but I don't think so because LSU game, they couldn't run the ball and they made some dumb mistakes. And then Troy, you saw what happened there with them getting down big early and having to rally late and they still didn't play clean football. This was also one of those games, man, like the Ole Miss, Arkansas one where I had circled as a potential upset and I couldn't quite make that decision either. But that's a game I think very much. Clemson's on upset alert.

[Bobby Bones]

I got a couple of the games. Before I get to the games, I did see a clip. It was at the press conference for I think Venables at ou and one of the reporters was like, hey, it's kind of like a crappy bowl game. Like the fans aren't even filling up the stadium. Did you happen to see that clip and do you think that has any effect on a Temple team who's in Philadelphia and they're being told they're kind of a joke school. If you haven't seen the clip, then it'll be lost on you. But yeah, it was a hot mic and a reporter from. Oh, you was like, yeah, it's kind of terrible up there.

[Brandon Marcelo]

Oh, no. Oh, I did see on, on social media that the Temple coach may be using that.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, I'm sure.

[Brandon Marcelo]

Motivation for his team. Yeah, good for him. I would too. I, I'll say Keeler, he's a, he was a great hire for Temple. They're doing Very well early. I don't think OHU is going to lose to him, obviously, but they can make life tough for them up there. And you don't need to be giving any team like that any type of motivation, extra motivation because then you get emotions involved and all of a sudden players are getting hurt, if you know what I mean. You know, they're going after guys low, so that, that's not a good thing. That reporter better hope nothing bad happens because he might be feeling the wrath of that coaching staff.

[Bobby Bones]

All right, two more games. A&M's going to Notre Dame. Notre Dame's full touchdown favorite. Is A and M good?

[Brandon Marcelo]

I don't know yet. Man, they've got great wide receivers. Casey's conception, who came over from NC State, could be a baller, but they're spreading the ball around a lot, a lot here the first two games. I think part of that, to me, I'm just reading into it is because they're trying to figure out who their top guys are. And this could end up being a potent, potent offense and they're just trying to figure things out early. The difference here in this game, though, is I think Notre Dame's got the better rushing attack if they decide to commit to it. And by that I mean, if you saw a season opener, Notre Dame only ran the ball 28 times against Miami. They should have ran at 35 to 40 times because they were able to run the ball effectively. And Notre Dame probably has the best running back in the country in Jeremiah Love. And he only ran the ball like 10 times, a little over 10 times. You need to be giving him the ball 25 times a game, in my opinion, whether it's through the air or carrying the ball. I was also looking at an interesting stat. Notre Dame, Jeremiah Love. If you remember, in the College Football Playoff, the very first game, he broke off a 98 yard touchdown run, but since then he's averaging like 2 point something yards per carry. Something. Something's happened. I. I don't know what. Maybe it's just the, the way they've gone about game planning and they're not giving him the ball enough to get him into a rhythm. But they need to figure it out because it's a trend since that first round playoff game that Notre Dame's got an amazing potential running game and can run the ball is just. It doesn't seem to be clicking right now. And I think part of that's just the, the play calling.

Who'd you pick in that game?

[Brandon Marcelo]

I picked Notre Dame because It's at home. And I think A and M offensively is still trying to figure a few things out.

[Bobby Bones]

Last game, Georgia at Tennessee. Georgia is a 4 1/2 point favorite as of right now. Who did you pick in that game? And then is Aguilar the guy at Tennessee, Is he like the guy?

[Brandon Marcelo]

I picked Georgia and a lot of this, I rarely pick a team based off of like one or two injuries on the other team, but I kind of went that way this time because Tennessee's not going to have their two starting cornerbacks in this game. And Georgia with Gunner Stockton. Gunner Stockton is underwhelmed at quarterback this year. I was impressed with him so much last year when I watched him the SEC championship game and then in person in the, in the Sugar bowl in the college football playoffs. And he has not done too hot here these first two games. But I, I think that we've seen in the past with Josh Hypo's offenses for whatever reason when they go against great defenses, which Georgia obviously has, just go look at the stats this year, they really kind of struggle and that happened last year. I kind of wrestle with this, Bobby, and I know this, I'm going back and forth here. But the problem is, is like Tennessee had a Nico Iamaliava problem last year, to be quite honest, at quarterback he was phenomenal against just really bad teams. Group of five teams, FCS teams. Then once they got in the sec, he looked completely different. Arkansas figured him out in a lot of ways even though OU beat them. Oh, you figured him out. And Tennessee had to run the ball to kind of put that game away. Georgia's something that can go in there and slow down that offense. But to your second part of your question, I'm a big believer in Joey Aguilar based off what I've seen off the tape right now. And we actually ran a [e-mail] I think earlier this week about how the, the staff there and his teammates there trust him so much more than they did Nico one because of just how he performs on the field, but also what kind of person and the people he surrounds himself with off the field. So this should be a great game. I think it'll be a game that's in the 20s. I don't trust Gunner Stockton at this point. I trust Joey Aguilar, but I trust Kirby Smarts defense more.

I don't know how good Florida is, but we will see now if they're good going to play Miami.

Yeah. Another game that's interesting is Ole Miss. Arkansas. Not only for personal reasons, but I think there are some people picking Arkansas. But Ole miss is an 8 1/2 point favorite. I probably won't bet that.

Bet you you're probably right. But I don't feel confident betting it. And right now I have no plans to bet it. I don't have any plans to go, but I still might go now.

The bottom drops out because they know anything that wasn't sold, they're now going to sell pretty easy. Unless we're down like 30. Nothing in the first quarter. Then I just go home.

I like both the teams. Vanderbilt 2 and oh, playing South Carolina 2 0. Hey, listen, Vanderbilt put it to Virginia Tech. That's a real team. That's the same team South Carolina beats.

[Eddie]

So South Carolina is a 6 1/2 point favorite right now. So that game's interesting to me. It'd be really cool if Vanderbilt won that game.

I like South Carolina a lot. But it'd be really cool if Vanderbilt won because they're not supposed to win. If they were to win an SEC game this early. Oh, that'd be crazy. It'd be so hard to turn that program around because they have. The restrictions are harder there. You can't just take any player. They have to meet a certain criteria academically just to be at Vanderbilt.

[Eddie]

Really? They can't?

[Bobby Bones]

No. I think they lull the people that are close to that, whatever that criteria is set at. But they can't just take anybody and then fix it. They don't. That's why the school. That's why they're not good or that's why they traditionally haven't been good.

[Eddie]

Well, there's also players too, right. That like, with the COVID year, they like, don't have to go to school because, say, like they've already graduated but they still have a year of eligibility. You can still go, you can still play. Right.

[Bobby Bones]

I think you have to be enrolled though, in some sort.

[Eddie]

I don't know.

Yeah, there's no way.

I think you get some hours.

Usually you have to do. I believe it is nine units. So nine hours of class in order to be considered a full time student.
