Jess
This is a podcast called 25 Whistles.
Craig Kilburger
Talking football. And they all wear a whistle.
Jess
Yeah, it's stupid, but what did you expect?
Craig Kilburger
It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
Martin Luther King III
25 Whistles.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, hit us.
Martin Luther King III
Ye.
Craig Kilburger
Thank you. Let's start the show. What souvenirs did you bring home from the Super Bowl?
Martin Luther King III
I got T shirts, hats, some of those towels that had the Chiefs logo on it.
Craig Kilburger
Those were free.
Martin Luther King III
Those were free.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. We saw a big bin of those.
Martin Luther King III
That all counts.
Craig Kilburger
I just wonder what you presented to the family like you bought versus what you got versus.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, there was a little football with a Super bowl logo. I got for $45, a miniature football.
Craig Kilburger
I mean, that ball that I bought was. I didn't even look at the price. I was like, I figured it'd be 100 bucks or so. It was 230. And I got.
Kevin
That is robbery.
Craig Kilburger
Well, you're at the Super Bowl. They know you want stuff. And I. It's a regulation football. It's the Duke. And that's the one I keep on the desk now that says the name of the super bowl on it. But, yeah, everything is wildly inflated for two reasons, because they know you're going to want stuff, and then two, because they know people there just spent thousands of bucks on tickets, so they probably have the disposable income to buy a couple things.
Martin Luther King III
And I have four kids, you know, so I had to get them all. I mean, I can't just get a couple kids. Even though the youngest is six, he probably won't care that much. But I had to get him some, too. And, dude, it was expensive.
Craig Kilburger
So you got all the kids something equally.
Martin Luther King III
So here's the deal. I got them all some equally. Threw in some Mardi Gras beads that I found on the street. Whatever.
Craig Kilburger
Disgusting.
Kevin
Gross.
Craig Kilburger
That's disgusting.
Martin Luther King III
When we got back, I was kind of like, all right, boys. I got the bag out, and I'm like, all right, we got gifts. Here's a T shirt for you. Here's this for you. And then I realized, like, my wife was standing there, and she was just like, this is cool. We got him a T shirt. Cool. And then I was like, oh, crap. I didn't get her anything. But I didn't. And I didn't even think about it. When we were in New Orleans, like, do I get my wife something because it's the Super Bowl? I don't see her really.
Craig Kilburger
It's man sport. Right? What are women even doing? Think about this.
Martin Luther King III
She's not going to sport a hoodie with a Super bowl logo on it. Like, that's just not her style. But I did see her kind of on the side, like, oh, that's cool. You got everyone something, but not her. She was the only one that didn't get anything.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, I guess it was more about. You spent time thinking of everyone else. It wasn't even about the super bowl logo or a logo shirt or golf shirt or ball.
Martin Luther King III
Right. But that's all they were selling. Like, I don't. I don't know of anything that I could have gotten her. Just a T shirt.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, I got a travel mug. You could have even on the street got one of those that were, like, way cheaper.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
But, like, that thing would have peeled off immediately. They're so cheap on the street. Yeah, they were so cheap on the street.
Kevin
Give her some beads, man.
Martin Luther King III
Mardi Gras beads. I just. Dude, I've just. I messed up, like, I realized at that moment, like, I messed up.
Craig Kilburger
I only got three things. I got two hoodies and the ball. I got the ball that sits on the desk. I got a hoodie for Caitlin's dad, and I mailed that to him. And it was just a Super bowl with both teams on it because I didn't really care who won. Like, they weren't my favorite teams, and so. And then I have one at the house that I guess your wife can have. She still needs something.
Martin Luther King III
No, I think it's too late now. Look, I forgot this was in my bag.
Craig Kilburger
I don't even know why my wife not a guy or something. She wouldn't have cared. Right?
Martin Luther King III
That's what I'm saying.
Craig Kilburger
Different, though. Like, my. I know my wife wouldn't have cared.
Martin Luther King III
I know my wife wouldn't want a Super Bowl. Whatever.
Craig Kilburger
My wife went to New York that weekend, and she brought me back some stuff, but I don't. I'm not. I'm not. I. She just didn't want anything from the Super Bowl. Like, I don't think that would have been exciting to her. And I.
Martin Luther King III
What did she get you back from the city?
Craig Kilburger
She went shopping for some stuff.
Martin Luther King III
For some.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, so clothes. But that's a gift. But I do have an extra hoodie at the house, and I just bought it. So when I bought the first one, I was like, I buy a second one. What am I gonna do? I don't know. I'd even do it. It's not like I'm gonna wear it.
Kevin
When did y'all have time to get all this stuff?
Craig Kilburger
During the game.
Kevin
Really?
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. It's a bad game, dude.
Kevin
We went to one little shop, and they had, like, nothing.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, I went down to a massive one down.
Martin Luther King III
Dang.
Craig Kilburger
It was humongous. And then it wrapped around lines like at a amusement park, like Six Flags.
Kevin
That makes sense.
Martin Luther King III
Bobby was so smart, though. Like, in the. Right before the game started, he's like, hey, you should just wait till the game kind of gets going. Then all those lines will just die down, like. Yeah, you're right, man.
Craig Kilburger
First quarter kind of hopped out and did the thing there. Yeah. I just wonder if you got everybody stuff.
Martin Luther King III
I think I messed up for sure.
Craig Kilburger
By the way, odds are out now for next year already. Yeah. Cowboys number one.
Martin Luther King III
What are we at, 20?
Craig Kilburger
Did you see Dax say that? You're right there. Like, he's happy for the Eagles success, but the Cowboys are right there. What were your thoughts as a massive Cowboys fan?
Martin Luther King III
I like it. I like his attitude. He doesn't really show it in his performance, but, I mean, I like that his head's there.
Craig Kilburger
Where do you think. Before I read down, where do you think the Cowboys fall as far as. Of the 32 teams. 32, where do you think they fall? Favorite is number one. Least favorite. I'll tell you, least favorite is the Cleveland Browns at plus 20,000. So they'd be at 32.
Martin Luther King III
That's tough to go in the season like that. I think the Cowboys don't. I think they always get a little bit of boost because they're the Cowboys. So they wouldn't put them below 500. I think they would put them at 15. 15.
Craig Kilburger
So right around 500.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
But wherever they are, you think they're given a boost anyway. So it doesn't matter where they are on this. They're not legitimate where that is. They're just a lot of people betting on them because they're Cowboys.
Martin Luther King III
Correct. The star in the helmet moves them up.
Craig Kilburger
Okay, number one, Philadelphia Eagles. Number two, Kansas City Chiefs. Number three, Buffalo Bills. Number four, Baltimore Ravens.
Martin Luther King III
Wow. What? Waiting for the commanders.
Craig Kilburger
You're going to wait a minute. But that's three AFC teams, so the Eagles are number one. Nfc. Then you have three AFC teams in a row. Detroit Lions at five, the Niners at six. It's interesting to see that because they were so bad this year, but they were so bad because everybody was hurt.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, injuries.
Craig Kilburger
I got some cool pictures on my Instagram, though, of me and Kittle. Did you see them?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, dude. Really cool. So you found them?
Craig Kilburger
Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
You were asking people like, how do I get these pictures? Because at these events, roamers just go around with cameras and you never know who's taking a picture.
Craig Kilburger
Backstage there was at least there was a set. So after I got off the stage from the television part, they were like, hey, we want you to go over here and take a picture. And I sat down with the. The official football, and I just presented the award to George Kittle. And he was walking by and he said something to me and he goes, I'll get him one. He just jumped in the picture. That's what that first picture was.
Martin Luther King III
That's so cool.
Craig Kilburger
And then I presented with Kyle Juszczyk, who is also a 49er. So I put niner for a day. But the Kittle thing wasn't on purpose. He was just walking by and we live semi close to each other because he lives over near where I live, which people don't really know. He lives in Nashville, but I only know where he lives because his car is so unique. He has like, what's those cars have a truck bed in it.
Martin Luther King III
El Camino.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. I think he has like a really. That I've seen on Instagram.
Martin Luther King III
Like it's a car but it's got a truck bed.
Craig Kilburger
Go to Kittle's Instagram or Kittle's wife's Instagram. I think you see that El Camino because I saw it once at the grocery store and I was like, I think that's that car.
Kevin
That's not a station wagon.
Craig Kilburger
No, it's like a car with a truck bed. Yeah, they made them in like the 70s or 80s and then they stopped making them.
Martin Luther King III
They were cool looking, though.
Craig Kilburger
They were. It was. It was different.
Martin Luther King III
It was different.
Craig Kilburger
The Bengals.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, they're still up there. I know, right?
Craig Kilburger
3. I need to make sure I get this right. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. The commanders are at 8. The packers are at 9. So far I got no problems with any of this.
Martin Luther King III
Sure.
Craig Kilburger
The rams are at 10. Yeah. The Cowboys where?
Martin Luther King III
What? I say 15. 15. Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
The Chargers at 11. Chargers over Cowboys or no, we'd be.
Martin Luther King III
Better than the Chargers.
Craig Kilburger
You think so next year. Yeah, but you weren't this year.
Martin Luther King III
I know. It's different.
Craig Kilburger
Well, why is it different?
Martin Luther King III
Schoenheimer, man.
Craig Kilburger
Okay.
Martin Luther King III
He's gonna turn things around.
Craig Kilburger
O'Brien, the Texans at 12. So not Texas team anymore.
Martin Luther King III
Give me a break. I mean, no, the Cowboys are Texas team.
Craig Kilburger
Okay. The Buccaneers at 13.
Martin Luther King III
No, it's a stretch, but okay. Stretch.
Craig Kilburger
The Broncos at 14.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, yeah. They move them up a little bit above the Chargers for sure.
Craig Kilburger
I think they had similar type seasons. I think those two teams are parallel with each other in that rookie quarterback with the Broncos. But Sean Payton, who didn't expect them to make the playoffs. They did. Chargers, same thing. Coach coming back first year. Yeah. Minnesota Vikings 15.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, dang.
Craig Kilburger
I'm surprised the Vikings aren't a little bit higher. And possibly because we had Kevin O'Connell, the Vikings coach, on our show. Lots to say. He didn't say it, but he kind of said it. I don't think Sam Darnold's staying with the Vikings. He just made too many references to like, we're going to talk about free agency and he'll make his decision. And he's like, we drafted J.J. mcCarthy for a reason. Got fortunate because him and Matt Castle are really good friends. Like, I met Kevin O'Connell in.
Martin Luther King III
Where were we?
Craig Kilburger
New Orleans.
Martin Luther King III
New Orleans. Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
I'm still blurred a little bit on that.
Martin Luther King III
New Orleans, where the super bowl was.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, I'm surprised they're 15th and not a little higher. The Bears were over the Cowboys. Oh, give me a break.
Martin Luther King III
The Bears. Okay, now they're just messing with us.
Craig Kilburger
Well, you just said wherever the Cowboys were, it was still.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Inflated.
Martin Luther King III
These odds makers don't like the Cowboys.
Craig Kilburger
Then the bears are at 16. The odds makers actually don't care. The odds makers are trying to make it exactly even, where both sides bet an equal amount and they just win by taking that vig, that extra bit of money. So they have no interest in pushing a team up for their own good.
Martin Luther King III
Did they watch the Bears this year, though? Come on.
Craig Kilburger
New head coach, though.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Making like 15 million a year. Cowboys at 17.
Martin Luther King III
There we go. I missed this.
Craig Kilburger
At plus 6,000.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Hey, this. This might be the year, though. I tell you. Do not bet that one. No, well, don't. Don't bet that one.
Craig Kilburger
I bet it this year.
Martin Luther King III
I know.
Craig Kilburger
And it stayed open till after the super bowl was over and had to look at it all year. That I bet a thousand dollars on them to win the super bowl. Because you really felt good about this year.
Martin Luther King III
I'm telling you, this year. Don't do it. Save your money. Put on the Commanders. Man, that's. To me, that's the. That's the flyer.
Craig Kilburger
It's not much of a flyer, though. They're top 10. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. They're 8. That's not a flyer.
Martin Luther King III
Well, I just feel like with those top four teams, you would think that.
Craig Kilburger
City, Buffalo. Let's see. Afc, Kansas City, Buffalo, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Washington. I think flyer needs to be below midline.
Martin Luther King III
Okay. Who would that be?
Craig Kilburger
You think the Cowboys would be one? I think the Bears. But if Aaron Rodgers goes to the Steelers, that's interesting to me because that's where they think he'll go. Or that's. That's where the speculators are now speculating that they could speculate in the future that because of Mike Tomlin and the. Aaron Rodgers could go there. One, because they're not going to resign, Russ. And two, they're not going to pay Justin Fields the money he wants because his. His rookie deal's over. So that would be fun if Aaron Rodgers went there. I don't think Aaron Rodgers is a bigger personality than Mike Tomlin. I think Tomlin will win that personality battle where Salad did not win that battle at the Jets.
Martin Luther King III
No.
Craig Kilburger
You got to see that, Casey, with your own eyeballs.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. And I mean, the whole thing with Rogers flying into New Jersey and talking to them. That was pretty interesting.
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
He flew in to figure out if he was gonna be with the team, and they were like, no McAfee or.
Martin Luther King III
Any of that stuff. So I guess we'll see if they'll. In Pittsburgh, they'll allow that.
Craig Kilburger
But, like, I think Pittsburgh could be a destination. I think the Titans could be a destination.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, like, that'd be cool.
Craig Kilburger
He's building a house, like, five miles from where I live. May already be mostly built now because it's a new neighborhood they were building. And when they were like, telling people you could. You can move there, they'd be like, and Aaron Rodgers lives. Who gives a crap? Going to buy a house because I get to be next to a football player.
Martin Luther King III
But I'm sure some people would think that's cool and probably buy the house because of it.
Craig Kilburger
I don't know, man.
Martin Luther King III
Not you.
Craig Kilburger
17, 18, 19. The dolphins are at 20. That feels a bit low.
Martin Luther King III
Does seem low.
Craig Kilburger
Just because the Dolphins, if they have their quarterback, which when they did have their quarterback, they definitely were a better team than when they tried their 9 backups this year. 20 feels low.
Martin Luther King III
Did you see Tua playing the guitar?
Craig Kilburger
I've seen. I've seen him before, but, like, Darius playing guitar. Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
He can jam a little. He can play.
Craig Kilburger
And how did you see it?
Martin Luther King III
Tik Tok. It just pops up.
Craig Kilburger
What was he doing?
Martin Luther King III
Like, part of what he playing, like, more than words or something. Somebody was like, here is a guitar. Like, can you play something? He's like, oh, he started messing with it. Yeah. It might have been more than words. Yeah. I think it's singing.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, so. But it wasn't, like, on a stage with a bunch of people. That's the only time I've seen them, like, grab one.
Martin Luther King III
I think it was, like, interview a couple people. But yeah, it wasn't like. It was an intimate thing. Yeah. But I was impressed. I didn't know he could do that.
Craig Kilburger
20 is a dolphins, 21 is a falcons. Is there any reason for them to be higher?
Martin Luther King III
Bunch of question marks.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
So.
Craig Kilburger
But at least positive question marks.
Martin Luther King III
True.
Craig Kilburger
Which is different than negative question marks.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Like the Colts. The Colts have a lot of negative question marks.
Martin Luther King III
A lot of negative question marks.
Craig Kilburger
Because there are questions. But the Colts have a lot of negative question marks. The Carolina Panthers, the Jets, they're down at the bottom. The Saints suck. The bottom three are the Giants, the Titans, and the Browns.
Martin Luther King III
Did you see Kellen Moore went to the Saints? Yeah. Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
We all saw all Right.
Martin Luther King III
Just making sure.
Craig Kilburger
Just making sure. Like days ago, bro.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, just making sure.
Craig Kilburger
Or the Patriots on that.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Lower above the jets.
Martin Luther King III
Lower.
Craig Kilburger
21. 22 at 23. And the jets are at Jacksonville. Vegas flyer. 728. Flyer. Let her ride. 28 or 20. Variable down in that part. That's not the total bottom. But like that other section. Yeah, that's fine. That also ran category. So, yeah, the jets moving off Aaron Rodgers. He's 41. If you're going to get Aaron Rodgers, you know he's not going to. Next year's it, right? That's it. What's he going to do after next year? He's got one more year. He's a gap quarterback. Bridge quarterback at best. The Steelers are never bad enough to get a good draft pick and they're never good enough to win the Super Bowl. They're in this purgatory type place where Mike Tomlin hasn't been below.500 and, you know, however many seasons it is, I.
Martin Luther King III
Don'T think he's ever.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, yeah.
Martin Luther King III
So who won their last Super Bowl? Is that Big Ben? Nah, Coach Tomlin won a Super Bowl.
Craig Kilburger
Okay. But now I'm saying, like, they're consistently in that game over 500. Two games over. They never are bad enough to get one of those top picks where if you're going to get a premier quarterback and they're never. They haven't been good enough in the last 10 years to actually make a run either. So it's a weird place if you're a Pittsburgh fan. And then you start to probably get annoyed that it's always like your story is the story of man. Our Coach never is below.500. Like, that's. That's a nice little side note. But he's got one Super Bowl.
Martin Luther King III
He's got one. He been to. He was at 2, was in 2. And he actually lost to Rogers in the second one, funny enough.
Craig Kilburger
So I wish Aaron Rodgers would just go away. Yeah, I was a big Aaron Rodgers guy even before this year. I just liked someone who would, like, speak out. Didn't matter if I agreed with him. I liked somebody who would just speak and say how he felt, because that felt refreshing. But then he, like, just kept talking and then it just got. You felt like he was just talking to hear himself talk, not to actually have things to say. I think there's a big difference in those two. Aaron Rodgers, would you like for him to go away? Yes or no? Eddie?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, I'm done with Aaron Rodgers. What's funny about Aaron Rodgers, though, is my kids. Like, they obviously don't know Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers. So, like, to them, they're just like, what is this guy doing as a starting quarterback?
Craig Kilburger
The old guy there? Shut up. Yeah, that's funny.
Martin Luther King III
It's funny to hear them say that because I'm like, guys, he actually was really, really good.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. Aaron Rodgers, stay or go, Kevin? He's got to go. Because football wise, he's got to go. But he'll stay around no matter what. He's like LeBron, where he's going to be around no matter what, and then he's playing. But what would you prefer him to do? A go playing. Yeah. Go, Casey. You go.
Martin Luther King III
Go. Please, please.
Craig Kilburger
And I just haven't been a hater. I've not been a long time. I always liked him this year, man. I just felt like he just was talking to hear himself talk. Yeah. And then when he was like, I might, you know, run for vice president, I'm like, bro, Right.
Martin Luther King III
But see, if he does, like, say, he retires and then he becomes a commentator, like, are we going to want to hear him?
Craig Kilburger
No, he will not test well enough to do that.
Martin Luther King III
Okay.
Craig Kilburger
Unless he changes up. I've only ever seen a couple people change their image and how the public perceives them. Alex Rodriguez was one of them who went from extremely disliked, total douchebag to. A lot of people started to like him because they. One, didn't remember the old version of him. And two, he just stopped talking a lot of times where in the past he wouldn't. You know, he's part of the Timberwolves ownership group now, and they just went and had that. If they actually got to own the team, that just went to court. And so now they do own the team. That's a big one. I've seen change where people actually like him now. Not ball players that played with him. And I remember him being, like, a huge douche. And the steroid stuff didn't help.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. He lied twice about it.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. Yeah. So Aaron Rodgers would need to go through one of those. I couldn't. I couldn't stomach the documentary on Netflix.
Martin Luther King III
Did you start it?
Craig Kilburger
I watched the preview that it shows you as soon as you get on it. I went to it. I went to it to watch it. This is what happened. It was a weekend, and I was like, I'm gonna watch it. I just want to talk about it. Even if I hate it, I want to talk about it and give it a fair chance. And I went to it, and you just go on Netflix. You don't have to push a button. And if it's on the square, it just starts showing you, like the Preview, dude. Like 13 seconds. I'm like, I can't. I ended up watching the first half of that SNL movie. There was.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, yeah, the old. About the old snl, right? Yeah, Original.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
Cast.
Craig Kilburger
And I've only watched, like half of it because it was a long movie. Instead of that, I had no plans to watch the SNL thing, but I was like, if I'm here and I'm dedicated to watch something I couldn't do. I couldn't stomach it.
Martin Luther King III
The preview, Is it him talking about the two chairs that they left empty during the. During this at the Bachelor?
Craig Kilburger
I couldn't do it. And maybe the preview wasn't even that bad, but I had all intentions to watch it. That's another thing's pretty interesting. I don't know if you cared not of SNL if people would like it, but I am very interested in that and the way that it shaped a lot of people's careers and the writers. And the guy that's in Severance, the tall. I'm not sure his name. He's really tall. He plays the cousin.
Kevin
Oh, I know.
Craig Kilburger
He plays Cousin. Well, he plays two characters in the SNL thing. He plays Jim Henson and he plays Andy Kaufman.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, really?
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
And I don't think that was the intention at first. What is his name? And Severance? My cousin.
Martin Luther King III
So Jim Henson shared a studio with them. Is that kind of his role?
Craig Kilburger
Jim Henson was on the first episode.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, he was. Oh, okay. Okay.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, the puppets were on there because.
Martin Luther King III
I saw in the preview, again, hovering over the icon, like Jim Henson coming out is like, hey, will you guys please just leave my puppets alone?
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, I'm almost positive some of the puppets were in the first SNL episode.
Martin Luther King III
Okay, okay.
Craig Kilburger
I'll probably need to be fact checked. Did you find it, guys? Okay, no, I'm gonna do it here. Cousin Greg is his name. I didn't have search. I got it in my head. And he's in real life. Cousin Greg is like six, seven, if not taller. He's a monster. But he plays those two characters. And I ended up watching that, and I need to watch the second half of it. Nicholas Braun. No, I was looking for Cousin Greg.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, yeah, his name is Cousin Greg.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. So in Severance, not Severance, I say Severance.
Martin Luther King III
You said Severance.
Craig Kilburger
No, I'm wrong. What's Succession? God damn. I was looking at Severance. No, that's me. A lot of shows, dude, Severance sucks. Season two.
Kevin
Really? Anybody?
Craig Kilburger
Dude? Maybe that's why it's in my head. And those two words are very similar succession. Cousin Greg plays those two characters. Severance, season two kind of blows.
Kevin
Have you, have you seen the most recent, Episode four?
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, we just watched it.
Kevin
You didn't like it?
Craig Kilburger
There are certain parts of it that go, well, I can't give up. But I loved season one so much. One of my favorite shows as far as a pure season of any show ever in my lifetime. And I don't think that's just recency bias. I think there's some there. But it was so good season two. I feel like they just. They know they're a smart show now and that people recognize them for it. So they feel like they have to elevate it. And sometimes when you're elevating trying to be the cerebral, you go too far.
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
So I don't know if the popular opinion is season two sucks because I try not to see anything because we were gone for so long. I don't want to watch it on the road. And my wife and I watched together, but we're just kind of like, stop adding layers. Like give us some answers before you add nine more layers.
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
You guys watch Severance? Anybody?
Martin Luther King III
I don't, but it gives, it's giving like Lost vibes. The show Lost, did it lose its.
Craig Kilburger
Place and then come back or did it lose its place and never come back?
Martin Luther King III
Lost got Lost. Never came back.
Craig Kilburger
Really?
Martin Luther King III
Like they just adding and then you're like, oh, what happened to this thing? And then. Yeah, yeah. And then you never find out anything.
Craig Kilburger
I never watch Lost.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, you don't find out anything. Yeah. Cuz it's just like at some point they're going to tell us what's really happening. But they never do.
Craig Kilburger
No, there's just about the Journey, man.
Martin Luther King III
I love that show.
Craig Kilburger
You did like it. Oh yeah. That season finale is like my favorite.
Kevin
It's about the journey.
Craig Kilburger
Did it lose itself in a season and fight its way back or did it just lose them? I think it lost a lot of people because I think most people like you guys wanted to know the answers. It's not about the answers, man. It's about the journey.
Martin Luther King III
Look at you, Mike.
Craig Kilburger
There was also Aaron Rogers on our show here. Hey, man. There was also a writer strike during it. So they didn't have a plan. They were like, oh, we got to come up with this. We don't really know where we're going. They really only had two seasons of that show.
Martin Luther King III
They're like, smoke monster quick.
Craig Kilburger
It became so successful, so they're like, all right, we got to build out the rest of the story. There's a writer strike in between that. So it went all over the place.
Kevin
I feel like that's how from is. They're kind of just like, don't know where to go now.
Craig Kilburger
Agree. Like, from loved it.
Martin Luther King III
Which one is from?
Craig Kilburger
So you can watch it. If you have Amazon prime. It was originally a show on MGM plus, but then Amazon bought whatever that network is from is. When it gets dark, those monsters come out of the woods.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, right, right, right. Yeah, yeah. Reid had first saw it, right? And then. Yeah, okay.
Craig Kilburger
So my wife suggested it, and I'm like, I want to watch that. I get scared. I gotta go have nightmares. She's like, twice. She suggested. I'm like, not for me. Not for me.
Martin Luther King III
And.
Craig Kilburger
And then we were with Reed, and Reed was like, that show is so good. And so we watched it, and we gobbled up season one. It was awesome.
Kevin
That was great.
Craig Kilburger
And season two came, and we're like, let's go. Because we timed it just right. We found it right when season two was, like, halfway through being added every week. So by the time we were finished, season two had just finished being fully uploaded. So we started eating that show, and then it just started adding more layers and more layers and then would add, like, four layers and answer one question.
Kevin
Now there's so many questions and no answers.
Martin Luther King III
We feel like it's not the journey, though, man.
Craig Kilburger
The journey's annoying.
Kevin
I'm just, like, confused now. I just don't even know what the plot is anymore.
Craig Kilburger
We same. We felt like it got successful after it had been released, and they were like, oh, crap. Now we got to keep going. We just got renewed. Oh, my God. Write this quick. Or they went to AI and, like, what would you do here? That's why I think everything should be a limited series now, dude. Yeah, the uk, they got it. That's why all their shows are legendary, because nothing is, for the most part, over two max. Three seasons. The Office, two seasons with some specials. All those. Most of those Ricky Gervais comedy shows, but a lot of those British shows are that.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, like that Sherlock, Hollywood.
Craig Kilburger
Awesome. Yes.
Martin Luther King III
That was great.
Craig Kilburger
Two seasons done. Even, like, three episodes a season game now. Like, they're about to end it with season three is kind of season two split into two. That's gonna have a conclusion, gonna be done. Not going on too long.
Martin Luther King III
Can't wait for that. 1.
Craig Kilburger
Well, that's why our food sucks here and why it's so unhealthy too, in America is because of preservatives, right? They wanna save money so they make sure the food doesn't waste, so they put preservatives in everything. What we're doing with television shows is they wanna squeeze as much money out of them as possible, so they're just gonna keep it. Doesn't matter so much about overall product, but how long can you keep it alive? How many preservatives can you put in that sucker to keep it alive so you can make money?
Martin Luther King III
It's a good analogy. I didn't follow you at first, but I got it.
Craig Kilburger
I don't know that I follow me at first too, dude. I kind of just found it as we went, so. Okay, you want to take a break? Let's take a break. All right, we'll take a break. And then on the other side, we do have another. One more New Orleans story to get to. Okay, cool. Craig Kilburger
Our dear friends Mark and Craig Kilburger, we explore the personal journeys that shape extraordinary lives.
Jess
Each week, we'll sit down with inspiring figures like David Oyelowo, Mel Robbins, Martin Sheen, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and Billy Porter. And they're plus one. They're ride or die as they share stories and never heard before about their remarkable journey.
Craig Kilburger
Listen to my legacy on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Martin Luther King III
This is my legacy.
Craig Kilburger
Hey, I wanna say something, too. I got a relatively high amount of hate DMs about Kevin going to the Super Bowl. Not because it's Kevin, but because I found a way to get Kevin to the super bowl even after he lost. People questioning my integrity.
Martin Luther King III
That's weird. I thought it was sweet.
Craig Kilburger
They were like, kevin should not have gone to the Super Bowl. He lost every game. Guys, we're real humans. I want everybody to know we're not just little bots in a podcast machine.
Martin Luther King III
We put on our pants one leg at a time.
Craig Kilburger
Different analogy. One arm at a time. That would mean.
Martin Luther King III
That means we work hard.
Craig Kilburger
No, no, no, no. That means our blood, we bleed. It's red. Our blood's red.
Martin Luther King III
Got it.
Craig Kilburger
Like, we're also real. Our hearts beat like, one pants at a time is like, we're not better than you.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, right. Okay.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, yeah.
Martin Luther King III
But everyone does put their pants on one leg at a time. So I figured that was, you know.
Craig Kilburger
I don't know that everybody does, but it's not really the same.
Martin Luther King III
Go ahead, carry on. Carry on.
Craig Kilburger
People were so mad for two reasons. Number one is that he went at all after he lost everything. And they were like, commit. If he. It didn't matter if it was Kevin. It could have been anybody.
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
It wasn't even about you. Yeah, they were like, if that person lost the whole time, they should not have gone. That's so stupid. Secondly, it was that the whole time it was planned out for him to go. Can also tell you that's not true, because on the bus ride down there, there Was no other ticket. I was fortunate enough to do that show, and I got two more tickets I would compare it even to. And Eddie will back me up on this. I only had two passes to that tailgate party with Post Malone.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
And I told Eddie on Thursday or Friday, I said, I've only got two passes. Like, I didn't even care if I went, honestly. And I was like, I got two passes. You can. We can do whatever. But because different people had asked me, and I thought it was the same person asking me, I was like, yeah, yeah, I'll take, yes, we want to go. And then someone else is like, yeah, yeah, we want to go. I thought it was the same person forgetting they had asked me, but three different people had said, hey, do you want me to get you a pair of passes to the Post Malone tailgate thing? And I just thought it was weird. I thought, well, everybody's so unorganized. They've asked me three times.
Martin Luther King III
This was all through emails.
Craig Kilburger
Yes.
Martin Luther King III
Okay, that makes sense.
Craig Kilburger
And what happened was three different people got me a pair of passes. So then we had six. Just like we had the four tickets. That I had four tickets. And then I got two more for doing the TV show. So for the people that go, you shouldn't have let them go even though you got the extra tickets. Funny, but screw you. Yeah. Like, that's hilarious that people are that mean.
Kevin
I saw someone that was pissed off that I went even though I won.
Craig Kilburger
Now that seems personal. What do you mean you're not. You admitted, ah, sports, I don't care. And you tried to give away your ticket at the beginning only to be nice because you said, I don't know if it's fair that I go because I don't really care for sports that much. Re. Yeah, but.
Kevin
Yeah, but if there's a ticket there, like, right.
Craig Kilburger
I earned it. Yeah. So everybody relax. From when we were going down on Thursday. Well, on Tuesday for sure. I knew of no extra tickets Wednesday. I knew of no extra tickets Thursday. I was told, because that show was Thursday night, hey, they may be giving you tickets for doing NFL honors. To which I thought, I've already got the tickets they're giving me meaning.
Martin Luther King III
Right.
Craig Kilburger
I think they think I don't know they're giving me tickets yet. And then I got an email that said, hey, here's your tickets. Put them in your wallet. And I already had four. And I felt like I was stealing because I didn't know if I was like, oh, my God, they may have messed up.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
And then I called my agent and I was like, hey, what's up? Because. Oh, you got two for doing NFL honors. Like, once you were on the show, that was them saying, thank you for doing the show. So that was it. On the flip side, though, there's, like, GoFundMe that people wanted to start. That was cool. I can't imagine that would have gotten more than, like, 20 bucks. No, I know, but the comment got a lot of likes. Like California wildfires. They're on the page deciding what they're going to give money to. Well, there's North Carolina. People are still hurting. There's the wildfire. Oh, kick off Kevin going to the Super Bowl. My burner account was found, guys. So, yeah, that's that. So we can move on from that. People are haters. Yes, but sometimes people are haters just to be funny. I also understand that next year, the super bowl is in. It's not even in San Francisco. It's in, like, Santa Barbara.
Martin Luther King III
Right.
Craig Kilburger
It's another one of those Santa Clara.
Martin Luther King III
Clara.
Craig Kilburger
It's like, an hour north of San Francisco. Everything about it sounds terrible. Yes. It's so far away. It's not even in a city. You have to stay in the city to get out that.
Martin Luther King III
So we're not going. What you're saying.
Craig Kilburger
This is what I'm going to say about next year. First of all, I'm not saying anything about us.
Martin Luther King III
Well, what do you mean? We're a team.
Craig Kilburger
No, we're not a team. Because those tickets were not given to this show. Those tickets were given to me as part of my NFL deal. Since I worked for NFL, I could have sold them or taken anybody.
Martin Luther King III
It's funny you say that. Do you think that when they give you tickets like that, are they, like, this dude's choosing to take these, like, random guys with them that do a podcast?
Craig Kilburger
Yes. Yes.
Martin Luther King III
Gosh.
Craig Kilburger
Because we weren't even really invited of 25 whistles to go out and do the super bowl stage and stuff. It was. It was terrible.
Martin Luther King III
It's not showing up like, we belong there. And we're like, no, no, no.
Craig Kilburger
We did belong. They really had. Only they really. When it was, hey, come out. It was the NFL show that I do. And then. Cause Kevin was running it, and they were like, which hour do you guys want for the stage? And I was like, we need two. And it was, why do you need two? Everybody else is doing one. You're not gonna have two different shows. So it was able to work, but there was no intention of this show going out there. It was the NFL show going out there. I got the tickets for that, and then I thought, I'll take these guys, which they thought was weird that I brought all the guys that weren't coming at all and then took them all to the super bowl for sure. But then people that I didn't know realized that were friends and we work together, it made a little more sense.
Martin Luther King III
Okay.
Craig Kilburger
So, yeah. Yeah. The show was never invited to the Super Bowl.
Martin Luther King III
I thought it was weird when we met all the NFL people and they're.
Craig Kilburger
Like, a little confused.
Martin Luther King III
Who are you?
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. Like, you're not Matt Castle. Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
You're little.
Craig Kilburger
Well, even when Kevin and I were dealing with the time, they were like, what hour do you want? And I was like, we need two, because I'm taking everybody out there to do this show. Yeah. And so next year, there's a possibility we go to super bowl stuff, but I'll probably take, like, different people next year. Just kind of putting that out there.
Martin Luther King III
Like another podcast.
Craig Kilburger
Do you have 26 whistles?
Martin Luther King III
Another podcast, and it's not us one.
Craig Kilburger
We may not even know Reed next year.
Kevin
Oh, May disappear into the wind, man.
Martin Luther King III
No, we know where you're going.
Craig Kilburger
He doesn't even know where he's moving right now. Yeah, dude.
Kevin
Know anything?
Craig Kilburger
When do you. When do you. When do you get sad about that?
Kevin
When do I get sad? I'm already sad because Reed will be moving.
Craig Kilburger
Probably May, I think Reed's told me, like, his final day here is.
Kevin
Yeah, May. May 1st. The last couple weeks of April is when I'll be moving stuff, most likely. But then May 1st, I'll officially be gone.
Martin Luther King III
Is he messing with us? Because it keeps getting pushed back.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, it was then.
Martin Luther King III
It was April.
Craig Kilburger
I think he was just being very safe at first because I would say, hey, safely, give me your last day. And it's moved back a bit because I think he's a bit safer because they're getting closer to it and understanding why when him and his fiance have to move.
Kevin
Yeah. Because I have to, like, help her move her stuff, too.
Craig Kilburger
We've said why, right?
Kevin
Yeah, She's.
Craig Kilburger
She's gonna be a doctor. She has to go and live somewhere else and work as a residency program.
Kevin
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
So he has to leave. He's leaving his job to go and support her. Which. Amen. She's gonna be a freaking doctor.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. I do the same.
Kevin
Come on.
Craig Kilburger
But then it's like, you have your own community here that you have to leave. And you have.
Kevin
I know.
Martin Luther King III
Started a new school.
Craig Kilburger
Not even that, but like a job that you really like.
Kevin
I know.
Craig Kilburger
Traveling, doing crazy stuff. Like, we've done it all.
Kevin
I know. Just seeing flashbacks, man.
Craig Kilburger
I will remember.
Kevin
I'll be here, though.
Martin Luther King III
What are some of the flashbacks you're seeing?
Craig Kilburger
That sounds like what you said at graduation that your friends you're graduating with. We're still gonna talk, man. Yeah, right. Right. Yeah.
Kevin
I gotta make money. And, like, all the people I know. I mean, you for one. I mean, not just your money, but just, you know, people I've worked with before. Working for you.
Craig Kilburger
I don't know what you just said.
Martin Luther King III
What are you talking about?
Kevin
I mean, like, if I'm freelancing, like, all of my connections and stuff are in Nashville, so, like, I thought we.
Martin Luther King III
Were talking about good memories that you're gonna miss.
Kevin
Yeah, I'm talking about. Yeah, but I gotta make money, too.
Martin Luther King III
Okay.
Kevin
You know what I'm saying?
Craig Kilburger
And how are you gonna make money.
Kevin
When you move freelancing? Probably just editing work.
Craig Kilburger
Like, we going to go back to doing wedding videos.
Kevin
I'll probably do some wedding videos.
Craig Kilburger
Like, let's say you moved to Memphis.
Kevin
Not a bunch, but I will do probably. I mean, if I could do once a. Like once a month for a good price. I mean, that.
Craig Kilburger
What is a wedding? As a. Would you photograph or video?
Kevin
Video. Video.
Craig Kilburger
And so you wouldn't do the pictures?
Kevin
No, no pictures. That's too. That's too stressful. Yeah, I would just do video, but.
Craig Kilburger
So how does that pay? Do they give you one price and then you give them raw. You edit a certain amount. Like, as a.
Kevin
You create your own packages, but usually about four. Four grand a wedding.
Craig Kilburger
All.
Kevin
Yeah, for like a. Like a full day kind of shoot, editing all this.
Craig Kilburger
And how long does it get to get it all done?
Kevin
For me, I could. If I devote a couple days to it, I could get it all done.
Craig Kilburger
Would at times, you send the finished product to them and they would be unhappy.
Martin Luther King III
Hmm.
Kevin
I've never had someone be like, this video is terrible. But I have been like. Have had people that are like, hey, you missed Meemaw. Meemaw's not in this video. Like, can I get a. Can we get a clip of her in there? So, like, stuff like that.
Craig Kilburger
So you gotta dig through Meemaw and try to find her.
Kevin
Yeah, stuff like that. So that's why I make sure to film everything I possibly can. Like, every person, because I don't know who they are. They could be their Meemaw. That's about to pass in a couple months.
Craig Kilburger
So have you had the conversation with your fiance that you're gonna. It's gonna be tough on you.
Kevin
Yeah, no, for sure. Yeah. She's super supportive about it all.
Craig Kilburger
And, like, you won't be here to do this anymore.
Kevin
She understands. But. Yeah. So it's gonna take a lot of hard work, but you do it for the marriage. I know.
Martin Luther King III
Man.
Craig Kilburger
You know, let's do a read memory in between.
Kevin
Oh, God.
Craig Kilburger
So I'll sing like a section, and then I'll go. I will remember you, man.
Martin Luther King III
I remember one time, Reed. This is before he told us he was leaving. He told our trainer, Kevin Klug, that he was leaving before he told any of us. So we found out that he was leaving through our trainer.
Craig Kilburger
Remember me? I remember. I'll read and remember. He sent me an email, and he's like, I'd like to apply for this job. And I was like, what do you do? He goes, I edit wedding videos. And I said, what's the hardest thing about it? And he said, sometimes you miss a memo. And I remember, I thought about that every day since. Don't let the time pass you by. Well, Reed, we're gonna miss you, buddy.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, we're done.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, we got two members. Okay, go ahead.
Martin Luther King III
When I first met Reed, he said, man, I thought you were white. I didn't know you were Mexican.
Craig Kilburger
Will you remember me? No more. No more group workouts.
Kevin
I know I'm gonna have to put in some work there, too, because I can't lose all these gains. You know what I'm saying?
Craig Kilburger
No. Why are you talking like that, though, by the way? When we have a workout today. But Eddie, his sling is off, and his doctor said he work out.
Martin Luther King III
Do you want me there?
Craig Kilburger
No, I think you don't. I don't think you come back to us until you're ready to come back to us.
Martin Luther King III
I thought about that, but this was my thinking. I was thinking just to join you guys to get the vibe slowly, because I miss working out with you guys. So you guys do your thing. I'll be on the treadmill, maybe lift some, like, five pounders, because the doctor.
Craig Kilburger
Said so you don't want to pay a gym membership. You just want to use my gym?
Martin Luther King III
No, just to be around.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, that's what it sounds like. He's like, I just use some of the gym.
Martin Luther King III
It's a camaraderie.
Craig Kilburger
Reed's kind of been slandering you since you've been gone. Why?
Kevin
About what?
Martin Luther King III
About what?
Craig Kilburger
Do you want to say what you've been saying? Or would you like me to say it?
Kevin
Go ahead, man. Take it away.
Craig Kilburger
Reed thinks we get a lot more done and it's a lot more effective without you being there.
Kevin
You know it's that way when I'm not there too.
Martin Luther King III
No, it's not. Don't you know, it's. It's a strategy because, like, you have to distract the trainer so you get breaks for sure. That's the whole point now.
Kevin
I know. That's what I'm saying. Like, it's. It's a bad thing. I hate it. But at the end of the workout, I'm like, you know what? That's. I got. We got a lot more in.
Craig Kilburger
He says that every time he goes, man, since Eddie's been gone, we get a lot more in.
Martin Luther King III
That's not cool.
Kevin
Weights and stuff, too.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. He's definitely getting stronger. I would just say come back when I'm full. You haven't done anything.
Martin Luther King III
Nothing. Zero.
Craig Kilburger
Right. So to jump back in feels a bit aggressive.
Martin Luther King III
The doctor did say, like, start with bands. Yeah. Stuff and. Yeah, that would be a waste. To go with you guys while you guys are lunging and doing all your deadlifts.
Craig Kilburger
Don't you have a gym membership?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, no, I have a gym I can go to.
Craig Kilburger
Right. Like, I always like being with you guys. You feel no pressure. You can go do your little band workout. You don't have the.
Martin Luther King III
Don't call it little.
Craig Kilburger
Well, it has to be little at first.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
But you don't have the pressure of the trainer, like, coming out, making sure you're okay. Boo Boo. You broke your arm.
Martin Luther King III
Like, I did. Think about, like, how am I gonna jump on, like, those box jumps we do? Like, I don't know if I can do that. You can't do because I can't swing my arm.
Craig Kilburger
It's not even that. The impact of, like, your feet. Feet hitting and rattling your body.
Martin Luther King III
A push up. There's no way I can do a push up again.
Craig Kilburger
You're going to third base here. First base is making sure that you can just move around without it hurting as you walk or run or jog. Because just it jarring. It's probably going to hurt at first.
Kevin
Would you rather just go to the gym and work on the. Or walk on the treadmill while we're working out?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Just to be there with you guys so I can talk to the trainer and distract them.
Kevin
I don't mind that.
Martin Luther King III
Like, don't you like working out, like, with us because we tell little stories in between and, like, how's the family doing?
Craig Kilburger
I get more done without you guys there.
Martin Luther King III
Okay.
Craig Kilburger
I mean, honestly. But it's. I could take it or leave it.
Martin Luther King III
I like catching up with you guys while we're working out.
Craig Kilburger
Like, you were just working with them all morning.
Martin Luther King III
No, but we don't talk about that stuff here. Like, here, like, let's get a little more personal.
Craig Kilburger
I can take it or leave it because the take it part is. Yeah, I like you guys. The leave it part is I get more done, and also, I have to pay more when you guys are there.
Kevin
That's true.
Craig Kilburger
So.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Good point.
Craig Kilburger
It's like, whatever. Like, they weigh out equally.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
So it's all, you know, whatever. When you feel you're ready, come on back. I would just go do a couple things first to make sure that you can even, like, jog when it doesn't hurt your arm.
Martin Luther King III
I've walked on the treadmill, but I haven't jogged on it. You're right. That shaking of the elbow will probably.
Craig Kilburger
Do you not have any bands at the house?
Martin Luther King III
No, I have little weights, but no bands.
Craig Kilburger
Okay. Have you done the little weights?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Little seven pounders. Maybe you're ready to go, but I'm just doing slow, like, curls, you know? Like, there's no. We already have problems. When Reid and I work out with you doing bench, it takes time to take all your weight off and then put our little ten pounds on. And so can you imagine if I was just like, hey, can I go with the five pounds?
Craig Kilburger
Well, I don't think you would do that now. I think you would have to do something completely different.
Martin Luther King III
Look, no, no, no. I'll wait. Let me come back into shape.
Craig Kilburger
No, come. And just don't be too demanding of the trainer.
Martin Luther King III
No, that's what I'm saying. I'll just hit the treadmill, dude, and then maybe some curls or some. Anything I can kind of band work. I'll do band work in my corner.
Craig Kilburger
Did your doctor not tell you what to do? Do you not have exercise, like, specific?
Martin Luther King III
All he said was, just keep stretching as much as you can till it hurts because I can't stretch it fully. I'm like. I'm pretty close. I'd say 95% straight. But he said you can do weights but don't go heavy because your arm's not fully recovered yet. So just do light weights, whatever you do, and just do it until the point where if it hurts, don't do it. Stop. So he said you can do whatever.
Craig Kilburger
You want to do.
Martin Luther King III
I just miss you guys, that's it.
Craig Kilburger
We're here all day. We just spent, like, six days every. Like, nose to nose in every way.
Martin Luther King III
You get to choose music in the gym. Like, it's Beverly Hills, and we're just like. You hear the clinking of the weights. I love it, dude.
Kevin
The free waters are nice.
Martin Luther King III
I bring my water.
Craig Kilburger
That's the thing about the water's not free.
Martin Luther King III
I bring my water.
Craig Kilburger
When you say free, you mean free to you. A United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Chicago had to make an unexpected stop in Denver because a passenger was acting weird. Not long after takeoff, a man kept getting up and walking to the front of the plane. He started asking about Mormons and demanded to know where the Mormons were sitting. Hmm.
Martin Luther King III
What the.
Craig Kilburger
Things got more intense. At some point, he even got physical with the flight crew. Other passengers jumped in to help restrain him. The plane landed early in Denver so police could take him off. The flight had to sit on the ground for hours before it was cleared to continue to Chicago. That's from Live and let's fly. When a dude's up in the front asking which one of you guys are the Mormons, we have to restrain him. If he's asking which one of yous are anything, it doesn't matter what the you's are. When he wants to have to find a specific group. Yes. That ain't good.
Martin Luther King III
Where you add in the Mormons.
Craig Kilburger
I have not been on a flight that has had anything crazy where they have to, like, restrain somebody or tape someone down, much less land, because someone's gone crazy. So, Eddie, I don't think you have either.
Martin Luther King III
Never. I've had bad turbulence, but that's about it.
Craig Kilburger
You never know. Sometimes Reed has a story that'll come out, he'll pull it right off his butt. You ever been on a flight where anybody goes crazy? No. Okay.
Kevin
No, that's never happened for me. There was one lady that was just, like, freaking out. Like, she's never flown before. She would kind of scream randomly in certain. Certain times.
Craig Kilburger
What did the scream sound like?
Kevin
It was kind of like, ah, you know.
Martin Luther King III
That's not a scream, dude.
Craig Kilburger
It was like a half a blanket over.
Kevin
Yeah. Oh, you know what?
Craig Kilburger
What was she watching?
Kevin
She did have her head down the entire time.
Craig Kilburger
Do you think she was scared?
Kevin
Yeah, she was 100%.
Craig Kilburger
She would make those screams?
Kevin
Yeah, for sure. She was probably like, late 60s, early 70s.
Craig Kilburger
Casey ever had a plane? Weirdo.
Martin Luther King III
You people have passed out on the flight? No. Like, nervous breakdown per se.
Craig Kilburger
No one's up looking for the Mormons.
Martin Luther King III
No Mormons. No.
Craig Kilburger
Kevin. You. No, I wish. Kind of wish.
Martin Luther King III
No, you don't want that.
Craig Kilburger
I don't wish because I don't want to have to be landed early. If you could guarantee me that the weirdo gets restrained and we get to our place, I can get off the freaking flight to go where I'm going to go, then I'm in. I don't want anybody doing any funny business though, because one, I don't know how funny it's going to be. I don't need a shoe bomber type situation or someone trying to push the door open. Not that they're gonna be able to, but that you're going down, somebody's gonna have to take you down. Or I don't want to have to land the Mormon guy and go sit for hours because he's up looking for Mormons.
Martin Luther King III
But if there is that situation, they should tie him up and then just. Operation should flow as it normally does. Right? Like we land everyone first. The guy that did that should just stay seated in his seat tied up.
Craig Kilburger
I think it just matters how far you have left.
Martin Luther King III
Do we know how? Like why he wanted to find the Mormons?
Craig Kilburger
That I don't know. I don't know if that matters as well. Where are all the morm? Like, and also if you can't get him to shut up and the whole time he's restrained, like, that's annoying. For three hours. So they did land and that website.
Martin Luther King III
Is live and let fly. That's.
Craig Kilburger
I know. That's what I thought. They have live and let's fly. They have all flying stories is what I imagine.
Martin Luther King III
That's funny.
Craig Kilburger

Welcome to my legacy. I'm Martin Luther King iii, and together with my wife, Andrea Waters King, and.
Craig Kilburger
Our dear friends Mark and Craig Kilburger, we explore the personal journeys that shape extraordinary lives.
Jess
Each week, we'll sit down with inspiring figures like David Oyelowo, Mel Robbins, Martin Sheen, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and Billy Porter. And their plus one, they're ride or die as they share stories and never heard before about their remarkable journey.
Craig Kilburger
Listen to my legacy on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Martin Luther King III
This is my legacy.
Craig Kilburger
Okay, I'll give you one more story. A Metropolitan police officer's in trouble for allegedly farting in a female coworker's face at work. Wow.
Martin Luther King III
That's what I did to my kids.
Craig Kilburger
Reports say the officer did it on purpose. Of course, now he's being investigated for bad behavior.
Martin Luther King III
What does that even mean?
Craig Kilburger
How much investigating do you have to do? I think you just stamped that one bad behavior. That's not all, either. He and another officer also have reported history of making inappropriate comments. Their bosses say this kind of thing isn't professional. They're looking into it. If they find he did something wrong, like farting in a coworker's face, he could be punished. This is from Metro. The Met police have been cracking down officers who act unprofessionally. You know, I guess when I think of an officer acting unprofessionally, it comes to their actual job. Like how they do their job.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Not back in the office farting in a co worker's face. Because that also would be. There had to be a lot leading up to that. Like this was the final straw guy. Unless that's just his thing though. That could also be his thing. And she's finally the one that called him on it. Or he always farts in like the same dudes faces and today she was the one to hit it. And you know, the victim has to.
Martin Luther King III
Be sitting right for him. Like walk by and then do it. Yes.
Kevin
It was a jump fart.
Craig Kilburger
Could you explain a jump fart?
Kevin
I can demonstrate.
Craig Kilburger
Travis Kelsey says he's going to take some time and decide on his future. Did you watch any of him not being quick enough to get off the line? Any of the film of Super Bowl? Yeah, it's kind of wild and again, selective. But it did happen. They didn't create this with AI. There would be times and I would see on TikTok where these guys that would break down the film two, three, four frames. So you're not talking about two seconds, but four frames. Kelsey's still down in a stance and everybody else is already out blocking. And Kelsey would be supposed to chip somebody and he was late to the chip. So who knows? It's not like he's 100, he's 35 years old. He plays a position as well. That isn't a. Because I think Tyreke is starting to lose a quarter of a step. And age and speed definitely are a package deal.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Once you're 33, 34, 35, it doesn't matter the sport. You start to just naturally get a little slower. But Kelsey's not really speed guy anyway. And 35 is not 40. So 1. Is Kelsey old at 35 or is he just like have so much going on? He's doing game show. He's got. He's Taylor Swift. He got a hundred million dollar podcast deal. That's probably it, right? Yeah. Like he's also 35, so you can kind of lean on that instead of going, you're too tailored up and good for him.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
But I don't think it's an age thing as much as it is a priority thing. If I were just speculating based on nothing. Based on nothing. But there were times he wouldn't come out of stance and those tiktoks and that's pretty wild. Should. How about this? Will Travis Kelsey come back? Eddie?
Martin Luther King III
No, no, I think he's done. I think, I mean, and and nor should he. Like, if he's performing like that now, he didn't have a great season. The super bowl was pretty bad. He had dropped some passes and like he said, I guess he's slow off the line. Did you propose to Taylor Swift? Let's go propose, get married, start your life, have kids, enjoy your life.
Craig Kilburger
What if he knows that they're not going to be together? Like, you know, I don't know this.
Martin Luther King III
But he did look pretty sad walking out of the stadium.
Craig Kilburger
And it doesn't seem like that that's the case. But you know, a lot of these very high profile relationships will stay together until the timing is right. Or there's nothing for him to believe they would be getting married right now, but they could later. Like, does that affect your retirement?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, for sure. But I see like Taylor, I don't see her slowing down at all. Like her career wise.
Craig Kilburger
But that wasn't the question. I'm talking about. If he doesn't marry her.
Martin Luther King III
Right.
Craig Kilburger
Does he still have enough in his mind to just retire and be fulfilled?
Martin Luther King III
I think so. He's had a good career without Taylor Swift. Like, right? I think so.
Craig Kilburger
They got very fortunate that two things happened on that podcast because the podcast was doing okay. It's fine. When they played each other in the super bowl was their first big pop. So I'm not saying lucky because both teams had to get there, but it was fortunate that both people on that podcast were also brothers that were playing each other in the Super Bowl. That was the first time you really that that podcast came to a pop culture ish type moment, especially with sports, because you're like, wow, we can listen. And the mom was in and the two brothers were playing. But that thing stratosphered when him and Taylor Swift started dating.
Martin Luther King III
That's where everyone was getting their news from.
Craig Kilburger
Well, because they, even before they dated, he did the thing where he's like, I took her bracelets and I never heard back from her and talked about that. Which by the way, could have been. They could have already been dating at that point for him to even tell that story. But that's where that thing got its hundred million dollar deal was they got so famous from that 100%. I mean, Jason Kelsey, you wouldn't even know who he was.
Martin Luther King III
No, no chance.
Craig Kilburger
If it weren't for really for Taylor happening. Because the podcast would have just been a sports podcast.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
Taylor turned into pop culture. And what's been cool is Jason Kelsey's actually really good and Kylie's really good too. His Wife. So I'm not saying they're not good and don't deserve it. I'm saying there are a lot of really good people that don't hit that level of notoriety that even allows the chance to get famous. And I think because Taylor's existence, he's got the ESPN show, his wife's podcast is great and is killing it.
Martin Luther King III
They're on products, lots of products.
Craig Kilburger
Because he's alignment. He's a center.
Martin Luther King III
He's a center.
Craig Kilburger
How many centers?
Martin Luther King III
A retired center.
Craig Kilburger
Yes. Yeah. He didn't even get super famous until after he was retired.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Like I bought a can of soup, Campbell's soup, and it had his beard on it and it was like, Kelsey likes Campbell's soup. That's crazy. Kelsey noodle soup.
Craig Kilburger
I hope he comes back for another year. Hope he comes back for one more because I think he'll be motivated. I think the scariest thing for everybody in the NFL and especially the afc is that Mahomes got embarrassed. And there's anger and sadness and that creates a kind of motivation. He already has a discipline, but a kind of motivation. Then there's embarrassment. And that's a different animal altogether. And the last thing you want to do is if they had lost that super bowl by four or five points, he wouldn't have been embarrassed. That sucked. We got beat by a good team. He's embarrassed. A different animal trains when they're scared or embarrassed, humiliated. And that's what's going to suck for everybody else next year.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
An embarrassed Patrick Mahomes. They have, you know, the 31st pick in the draft. Not 32nd because basically the same. But it's a really strong running back class. They need a really good running back. Wide receiver wise, Rasheed Rice was starting to be really good.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
And Xavier Worthy had to learn how to be more than just a down the field, run, go route receiver. And he was able. He grew into the role I think they're going to be. And Hollywood Hamilton came back. Let's. They had nothing. They got to that point with nothing.
Martin Luther King III
Hollywood Brown.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. You familiar with them?
Martin Luther King III
Yeah. Did you say that? Yeah, I thought I heard.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. He came back later in the season. Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah.
Craig Kilburger
So, yeah. And Hopkins came, but I don't know if Hopkins going to be there next year.
Martin Luther King III
I don't think so. I'm not sure what the contract is on that.
Craig Kilburger
But he had a cool story about his coat, though. His. His fur coat. You guys see that? So he wore a fur coat walking into the super bowl and everybody wore something Right. Because now you show. It's what you wear when you show up. Usually makes pictures or. Or ESPN is showing the walk ins. And so he showed it. He had this old school fur coat on. And then the story was his dad died when he was very, very young. Like maybe months old. Like, okay, baby or toddler age. His dad died in a car accident, I believe. And it was his dad's fur coat. And he said he was either gonna wear it to his wedding or super bowl, whichever one he got to first. Oh, that's cool. And that's why he had the fur coat on. It's a pretty cool story. It's a much cooler story if he wins.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, but it's still a pretty cool story. He still made it the play.
Craig Kilburger
The story was really cool as the game was starting.
Martin Luther King III
Yes, yes, yes.
Craig Kilburger
Because that's pretty cool. But they're going to, you know, they need offensive line help. But they were also injured. You know, part of them having to move their best offensive lineman to tackle was because of injuries on the offensive line. The Chiefs are going to be trouble next year. They're always going to be trouble. They were in trouble this year. They went to the Super Bowl. I mean, we're acting like they sucked this year. That's hilarious. And people like Mahomes. He's not. Not even 30 yet. He's not even 30 yet. Okay. Mike, wanna do the segment from New Orleans? Yeah, we do. Okay, let me throw over to this. Okay, so we're recording this in New Orleans. We did our super bowl episode last week, but we waited to tell this story, to put on this episode because the last episode got a little long. So a brief story from New Orleans. Everybody in the room, it's me, Eddie Kickoff, Kevin Reed, country superstar Matt Stow, and producer superstar Mike D. Yeah, sorry, you guys.
Martin Luther King III
That's. No, that's right.
Craig Kilburger
Okay, cool.
Martin Luther King III
Spot on.
Craig Kilburger
We did our day, our second day of interviews. Had a bunch of big stars. It was awesome. I fought through it. Wasn't feeling great. By now you've heard, ate a bad sandwich from a gas station, that our driver was like, this is the place to go. Looking back, I think he just didn't want to drive very far. That's what I think happened.
Martin Luther King III
Because. Because. And I think you're right. Because. Because the answer to everything was, man, I'm from here. Yeah, because we kept asking, how did you find that spot? Man, I'm from here. Like, but. But that little store, like, did you even know it was there? Dude, I'm from here. I'm like, I really don't think he knew that.
Craig Kilburger
I don't either. I think it was two blocks away. Didn't want to drive anywhere else. So I ate a bad sandwich. I was sick for a day and a half. So I got through the interviews and let's go to lunch. Not feeling good, but maybe I just need food because that's also a thing. Maybe you just depleted and need some nourishment. So we go. And I'm like, I gotta go to the bathroom, guys. I don't even sit down. Like, I never, I never sat down.
Martin Luther King III
Texted me like, hey, send me a picture of the menu and I'll order from.
Craig Kilburger
Well, first I was like, I go in and I'm like, please God, let there be a toilet. An open toilet with walls around it.
Martin Luther King III
Not prison style where there are no walls and just toilet.
Craig Kilburger
Am I in my school? That's what they had. Yeah, it was just a toilet with no walls.
Martin Luther King III
Ever tell you that story about when I sat there and some dudes came right next to me? We just did it together, right next to each other. It's the weirdest. Dude, that's wild.
Craig Kilburger
Just like a locker room. Just like. Yeah, like the cell block. But at least put up a half a wall for a second.
Kevin
You said you, you didn't sit down. I thought you meant you went. You went to the bathroom and you didn't sit down.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, no, no, I never sat down at the table. I didn't, cuz right on the table. So I get into the bathroom. There is one full stall. No one's in it, thank God. And I'm like, I don't know what I need to do, but I need to do something. So I go on and I go to the bathroom, and I'm sitting there, I'm there for 25, 30 minutes. But the first five, six minutes, I know I'm gonna be investing some time here. I don't want to be investing time in the restaurant. That's what Kevin was sending you. Super bowl ticket. I text Eddie and I say, hey, would you mind ordering me a Coca Cola? Because sometimes that'll settle my stomach if it's super busy. And he's like, no problem. Ten minutes later, I text him, would you mind sending me a picture of the menu? I think I'm gonna be a little bit.
Martin Luther King III
At that point, the server had already come. She came, she got our drink orders, and I said, he'll take a Coke right there. She says, okay. So she wrote it down, thinking maybe like, okay, somebody's coming. He's not here yet, but he'll show up eventually.
Craig Kilburger
At the same time, I'm getting airdrops from Reed and from Mike D. And I guess that's how they're doing a wellness check on me to see if I'll accept a airdrop. And I'm sitting on the toilet because I can also hear you guys talking because there's.
Martin Luther King III
Oh, we're right there.
Craig Kilburger
The wall's right there. Next.
Martin Luther King III
You're trying to add to the conversation.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, Bobby And Matt's got a very deep voice, and I can just hear the whole thing. And it's like I'm accepting airdrops. I'm going through pictures. I'm still. I'm on the toilet. And then I got to accept this.
Martin Luther King III
I sent you the menu.
Craig Kilburger
And it's. Eddie sends the menu. And I'm like, dude, just order some raw oysters.
Martin Luther King III
Half a dozen.
Craig Kilburger
Because there's no spice on them. Like, no cheese. Cool. I'm in there 30 minutes or so. I walk out and just look at you guys and go, can't stay. Gotta go back to the room. Just left. I get outside, and I hit my Uber, and it says, four minutes. Like, thank God. Because to walk, it was like 21 minutes. Six minutes. Uber, eight minutes. It's going backward because traffic is so weird. Then it just goes, ride canceled. I'm about to crap myself. And I'm like, oh, my God. So I hit it again. Next Uber, 22 minutes. I don't even know if it's 22 or 52. And I'm like, I gotta walk it. So I just start walking back. I start waddling back.
Martin Luther King III
This is terrible.
Craig Kilburger
Just in case. I ended up going into a Smoothie King about a third of the way because I was about to use the bathroom myself. So I go into the Smoothie King. Quick pit stop. Yes. They weren't letting people go to the bathroom unless they bought something. So as I went. Yeah, so I tried to. I was ordering. I ordered it and said, gotta go to the bathroom as they made it. And it set out there as I was in the bathroom. That was, like, my key. I'd, like, purchase a key to get to the bathroom. I ordered. I paid for a smoothie and then went the bathroom and then waddled my way back to the room and was there all night. So it was brutal having to walk back after waiting for the car. That's my version of the story.
Martin Luther King III
Yeah, our version of the story is. So we got. She got your coke to the table. The server Did. And then she took our food order. She's like, or do we want to wait for. For your friend? And we're like, no, no, he's ready to order. He's good. And so we ordered. And we ordered you oysters. And she. She just kept like, whatever. Like, no big deal. Then we realized that you never came and she never saw you leave.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah.
Martin Luther King III
So she probably thought you were just some fake person because we never mentioned that. You weren't. You weren't there. You were never coming. It was really funny, man.
Craig Kilburger
No, he goes to a different school. He'll be here. It's totally a real friend of ours.
Kevin
You were also, like, at the very beginning, you were like, I'm Eddie, this is Mike. And you're like. And that's Bobby over there.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, yeah.
Martin Luther King III
Forgot about that.
Craig Kilburger
And we said we moved there that day. We were just giving her the. Putting her through the ringer.
Martin Luther King III
Poor girl.
Craig Kilburger
So who ate the oysters?
Martin Luther King III
We all split them.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah. Yeah, oysters are good here.
Martin Luther King III
But I don't think anyone took the Coke though, right? Did anyone drink the coke? I didn't drink the coke.
Craig Kilburger
Just beer.
Martin Luther King III
That was for you, dude. We just left it there.
Craig Kilburger
Oh, he poured one out for me. Brutal. Okay, that is the New Orleans restaurant story. Everybody feel good? Anything else?
Martin Luther King III
Perfect.
Craig Kilburger

All right, and that's it. Thank you very much, everybody. We'll see you next week. Eddie saw a commander's bus in town. Yeah, we can end on this.
Martin Luther King III
Sitting outside a hotel.
Craig Kilburger
Last time you saw this, you saw Cardinals on a Cardinals plane.
Martin Luther King III
The plane was flying over my house, and I'm like, oh, my gosh, there's the Cardinals logo on the back. So this must be a sign.
Craig Kilburger
And so I bet it. I bet them to win their division. They were terrible.
Martin Luther King III
This was like four years ago. Maybe like two years ago this past year.
Craig Kilburger
Yeah, it was even worse, dude. Yeah, he was Kyler Tours acl.
Martin Luther King III
But then I see this bus now, and I'm like, is this a sign? Dude, the bus is wrapped in all Commanders.
Kevin
That's why you said you were going to bet on Commanders.
Martin Luther King III
I think it's a sign now. Yeah, let's all do it.
Craig Kilburger
The fact that you would even think about betting on a team that in the division of your favorite team.
Martin Luther King III
It's about money, dude.
Craig Kilburger
It's so traitorous.
Martin Luther King III
Money, man. You're such a traitor about money. If we can make a few thousand dollars off this bet, let's do it.
Craig Kilburger
I would never bet a future on an SEC team before the season started.
Martin Luther King III
You're right.
Craig Kilburger
It doesn't sound ever. I would never bet on an NL Central team right before the season started. Like later in the year if my team's out or I'm just looking at odds and I'm like, dang, bama. Something like that. Yes. It's not even the preseason.
