This is a podcast called 25 Whistles.
Damon Stoudemire
Talking Fors.
Bobby Bones
And they all wear a whistle. Yeah, it's stupid but what did you expect? It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
Damon Stoudemire
25 Whistles.
Bobby Bones
We're doing this from office so we don't have a whistle. Everything in our main studio is broken.
Eddie
I mean I could easily go there.
Bobby Bones
And get it but that's all right. That's all right. Couple things. Bad day for your Cowboys with free agency.
Eddie
I read there's just not. There's just not a lot out there.
Bobby Bones
No, that's not the worst reason. There is a lot out there. Are you kidding?
Eddie
The article I saw headline said not a lot in free agency.
Bobby Bones
No, here's the problem is that the market has been set twice. Max Crosby was the highest non quarterback and then Miles Garrett is the highest non quarterback. And now if the Cowboys would have signed Micah Parsons already, they would have saved a bunch of money. They're probably either not going to be able to afford Micah Parsons now or have going to have to give even more money to get Micah Parsons.
Eddie
What is happening?
Bobby Bones
But the Cowboys wait on everybody.
Eddie
But listen, we have a businessman. This is. Jerry Jones is a businessman. Why are we making these bad business decisions? Or is it something that we don't know?
Bobby Bones
Understand.
Eddie
I don't understand this.
Bobby Bones
Well, they. And you can walk through a couple of the past scenarios and we won't be heavy Cowboys. But I just wanted to give you the bad news to start.
Eddie
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
They waited way too long to sign Dak and even with Josh Allen's massive deal. Because the Bills have rewarded NFL MVP Josh Allen with a record setting six year $330 million contract, $250 million guaranteed. It is the largest guaranteed total given to an NFL player. It surpasses the previous mark of Deshaun Watson who got 230 guaranteed. But his who contract was guaranteed. The difference here is they're giving Josh Allen 250 guaranteed. But he also has basically another $80 million if he plays. So. But Dak is still the highest paid quarterback per even after this contract. Dak is still the highest because they waited so freaking long. The DAC is 60 million a year.
Eddie
Oh, that's nice. Gosh, can you imagine 60 million a year? I'd have no stresses in the world.
Bobby Bones
Unless you're the Cowboys and you gave Dak way too much money.
Eddie
They're stressing. I'm talking about Dak.
Bobby Bones
They're stressing. So Micah Parsons ask is going to go way up because Crosby and Miles Garrett just kind of reset the football market.
Eddie
But Mike has always said he wants to be a cowboy for his entire career.
Bobby Bones
And Miles Garrett said he was not staying with Cleveland for any reason. He needed to be traded. And money talks. So if a whole lot of money's coming from somewhere else, Michael Parsons is going to go somewhere else.
Eddie
Even though he, man, he just wants to be a cowboy for the rest of his life.
Bobby Bones
We can do Aaron Rodgers for a second. Because it looked like over the weekend that Aaron Rodgers was going to be a giant because they were like Rogers probably to the Giants. And they even did the thing where they do the kind of the Photoshop, the AI with the, you know, that's so cool. But as of this morning at 7:00am Central and this is from ESPN. One day after trading for a star wide receiver, the Steelers may be closing in on a big name quarterback. Aaron Rodgers has also emerged as a quarterback option for Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers and the Steelers are expected to talk so I'd already thought that Rogers was going to be a Giant. Did you see Rogers to the Giants over the weekend?
Eddie
No, I didn't. I just saw Metcalf to the Steelers. Yeah, which is bizarre. I mean, dude, it's not bizarre.
Bobby Bones
They don't have a quarterback. Now The Steelers have two number ones or at least a number one and a 1.1.5. But yeah, the Steelers, they got DK Metcalf from the Seahawks for a second round. Now remember Mingo to the Cowboys? Yeah.
Eddie
For a fourth round pick. We got Mingo, baby.
Bobby Bones
Which is funny because Deebo went to the Commanders for a fifth round pick.
Eddie
Yeah, so funny.
Bobby Bones
But the difference would be how much money they're paying for them because with Deebo they're basically just salary dumping Deebo.
Eddie
Yeah. And with Mingo we were in panic mode. Like we were mid season and had no receivers. We had CD Lamb and also Mingo.
Bobby Bones
Doesn'T have a huge contract which is a part of it as well. So another one is Devonte Adams to the Rams. If you're Devonte Adams, that's pretty legit. That's where you wanted to go. LA Dome warm Matthew Stafford as your quarterback. Not even so much about LA specifically.
Eddie
Oh, I was thinking like la, but.
Bobby Bones
All of the variables that you would want. There's another number one on the team as far as Puka. So it's not like they can just double Devonte all day or double Puka all day. So those guys are going to be able to at least have a little space.
Eddie
And Cooper Cup's there, right?
Bobby Bones
No, no. Oh, he's.
Eddie
Oh, he's gone.
Bobby Bones
They were trading, they said like three weeks ago.
Eddie
They said, oh, I didn't see that.
Bobby Bones
Six time Pro bowl wide receiver Devonte Adams agreed to a two year deal with the Los Angeles Rams. Adams arrives as the Rams prepare to move on from Cooper Cup. The jets released Adams March 4, three weeks after announcing they were partying with their favorite quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. This also comes from espn. So a lot of movement. It's been pretty cool to watch. I like it when everybody starts resigning with other teams, but a lot of the guys just re signed as well. I think they expected a much more robust free agent market where Max Crosby again signed the big deal. There was a point where they, they had said that they had offered Geno Smith and Max Crosby in exchange for. No, Geno Smith and DK Metcalf in exchange for Max Crosby. They turned it down.
Eddie
But yeah, that's exciting.
Bobby Bones
A lot of movement. It's fun to see players on new teams. Unless it's your team, they're leaving.
Eddie
I know it is fun, but then you start like, if you bought the jersey of that player. That's kind of. I hate that.
Bobby Bones
That sucks. What Cowboys jerseys have you bought my whole life. No. Now, like, do you have any? Do your kids have any?
Eddie
Yeah. So we have. I mean, we have a lot of jerseys, but I try to tell my kids, like, look at the long term contract. Like, Dak just signed a long term contract. Get a Dak jersey. Micah. We don't know. We don't know what Micah's gonna say. So don't get a Micah jersey. I have a CD link Lamb jersey.
Bobby Bones
I gave one of your kids a signed mic. A jersey.
Eddie
They don't wear those. Those are on the wall.
Bobby Bones
Got it.
Eddie
They will not wear those.
Bobby Bones
Got it.
Eddie
We put those on the wall. And then for me it's just CD Lamb. But I do have like back in the day a Drew Bledsoe Cowboys jersey.
Bobby Bones
That's weird.
Eddie
Isn't that weird? And he played for one year maybe for the Cowboys.
Bobby Bones
That's weird.
Eddie
But I thought it was so cool.
Bobby Bones
I don't think Andrew Bledsoe playing with the Cowboys at all.
Eddie
No, dude, it was his last. Like, I mean, I'm gonna try one more team and then we're going, bye, bye. We're gonna start making wine for the rest of my life. He retired after that, so he may have gone somewhere else, but I think that was the last team.
Bobby Bones
I think pretty much those are the big moves that happened. They. It's still fluid. So by the time you hear this, there could have been eight or nine.
Eddie
I saw Aaron Jones staying with the Vikings. Yeah, a lot of stain which is always good.
Bobby Bones
Sam Donald ended up going to Seattle.
Eddie
Are you still Sam believer or were you Sam offense system believers?
Bobby Bones
Neither. I didn't care enough.
Eddie
Okay. I still don't believe in Sam Darnold.
Bobby Bones
What?
Eddie
I just don't like. I don't. I don't.
Bobby Bones
Do you believe the quarterbacks can be put in bad places and so they suck concern a bad place?
Eddie
Absolutely.
Bobby Bones
Okay, well, that's what happened to Sam Darnold.
Eddie
But I feel like that that was an example of the good Sam Darnold in a good offense. Now he's going to go to another offense. I don't know if he's going to be as good. I'm not a Sam Darnold believer. That's it.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Hey, NFL. Eddie's not there yet.
Eddie
Are you talking to them right now?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I've got him. He is not with Sam Darnold yet.
Eddie
What do you think? NFL?
Bobby Bones
I'm still like, yeah, I don't care. But I think he's better than people give him credit for.
Eddie
See, that's the crap I'm talking about.
Bobby Bones
Two really bad systems. And the first time he had a chance to thrive, he really thrived. And so I would look at that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. Yeah, he's an idiot. I don't know. I don't want to sell you.
Eddie
Oh, they call me an idiot.
Bobby Bones
Bledsoe, Cowboys jersey. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Talk to you later, Mr. Mr. Goodell. All right.
Eddie
He goes triplets of Cowboys.
Kevin
That's all you need to say.
Bobby Bones
Let's take a break. We'll come back with Damon Stoudemire, who is the head coach at Georgia Tech men's basketball and also crazy NBA player from back in the day as well.

Their game is Wednesday. And they played Virginia on Wednesday, correct?
Kevin
Correct.
Bobby Bones
All right, Coach Stoudemire played 14 years in the league for the Raptors and the Grizzlies and the spurs, and it's his second year at Georgia Tech as head basketball coach. Here he is, Coach Damon Stoudemire. Hey, coach. First thing, the colorway of that hoodie, like, that's the most legit Georgia Tech color, like the dark blue and the gold there. Like, that's the best Georgia Tech hoodie athletic apparel I've seen. Do you get to pick that?
Damon Stoudemire
You talking about the one I have on?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, the one you have on right now. Like, I haven't seen that one before.
Damon Stoudemire
Yeah. And this is actually last year's joint.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's like. I like Georgia Tech and like the colors, but that's, like, the most legit one I've seen. How much do you have input on uniforms, like, the stuff your team's wearing?
Damon Stoudemire
I'm picky. I definitely. I definitely like to see it first before it goes. Before it goes. Goes under. So, yeah, I try to pick all the good stuff, or at least the stuff that I think is good.
Bobby Bones
Is there a limit on how much players can have? Because I'd be eating it all up if I was there. I'd take all the free stuff.
Damon Stoudemire
Nah, there's no limit. You can get everything.
Bobby Bones
I'm gonna play for you, then I'm in. Hey, I just committed to you, coach. If it's all. If I get it all. A couple questions, and I want to start first with how do you generally feel about net being used? Because I feel like it's all net right now when it comes to how they're evaluating teams.
Damon Stoudemire
Yeah, you know, I'm from the old school, so I. I just feel like it should be strength of schedule, like how it used to be back in the day. I mean, essentially you putting, you putting things behind. You're putting, you're putting, you know, formulas behind systems. But really it should just, to me, it probably should just be the strength of schedule that you play, how those teams are doing, who they're doing it against. And that's how it used to be. And I feel like that's. I think that that would help college basketball out a lot.
Bobby Bones
Honestly, I was looking at the quad one, quad two, quad three, quad four for you guys, but what would be confusing for me is some of those games shift and a team that's a quad one can fall into a quad two. You never really have a full grasp of it. The net is weird because it is so formulaic. I think you guys got two quad one wins over Louisville and Clemson. So do you talk about that quad one, quad two stuff with your team at all?
Damon Stoudemire
I don't, I don't talk about it. You know, we hadn't been in that scenario, to be honest with you, but I haven't talked about it. I try to just go out there and win as many games as we supposed to win. You know, I just think, you know, that's the way to go. And, you know, sometimes things fall as they may. I think like this year, especially if we would have handled some things earlier, you know, there's some games I wish we had back. I think we'd be, we would be right in the middle of the discussion.
Bobby Bones
What game mostly haunts you?
Damon Stoudemire
You know, earlier in the year, we weren't right. We lost to North Florida then. You know, I felt like the other game that, that we were winning basically for 38 minutes was Notre Dame and Notre Dame, and we ended up losing that game. You know, just looking back at Those two, those two scenarios, if you win those now, you're 18 and 12 and, you know, you, you, you're probably in the discussion.
Bobby Bones
Do you feel like it's still 20 win? That was always the thing, 20 wins and, you know, you're definitely in the discussion. You might get in. Do you still feel like it's around 20 now?
Damon Stoudemire
Yeah, it's still the same way. I think that's never, that's never going to change. I think if you get around 20, if you can get 18, 18 to 20, you're right. You'll be right in play.
Bobby Bones
Going into the conference tournament, are you already looking at who you, who you might play? Is that in consideration at all? Are you just trying to get the best seat possible.
Damon Stoudemire
You know, I like the way our team is playing right now. That's the biggest thing for me. I just love the way we're playing on both sides of the ball. We're playing connected, we're playing intentional, and we're playing with a sense of urgency.
Bobby Bones
What do you feel like has been the most growth? This is your second year from year one to year two with you and with your team.
Damon Stoudemire
For me, the biggest growth has just. I've had to get back to just the teaching part of it. With all the injuries that we've had this year, teaching has become paramount even more because we don't have as much practice time. But strategically trying to formulate something each and every game is going to put us in the best position to be successful with our numbers has been. Has. Has been something that I've had to do. And so for me, to be honest, this year, basketball from a coaching standpoint has been the hardest, but yet the funnest year that I've ever had being a head coach. Because of that and my team, the growth in my team is that I think they finally understand the assignment. We went through some ups and downs early, some peaks and valleys, but I think that we had to learn how to play hard. We had to learn how to play with toughness. We had to learn how to play smart. And then the last part of that was learning how to win. And I think they've done that.
Bobby Bones
Brag on one of your guys. Who have you seen develop, maybe not even be the guy, but who have you seen develop the most this season?
Damon Stoudemire
I would say, you know, we have. We have three guys. We have two guys that I think that we looked to play well from jump, and so that's Nate George and Bayern Dongle. But the guy that has grown and has gotten better within the system, this being his first year, I think, is Duncan Powell. He's really, he's really grew into a role here, a guy that we relied on. You know, he, He. He had some bumps in the road early on in the season, but then as the injuries mounted, you know, he got more minutes and his play picked up into where he is at today. And, you know, I feel like, you know, he's as big a part of our success as anyone.
Bobby Bones
I play 2K and I play the 90s decade. And you got MVP two years in a row for me, and I was feeling pretty good about it. You ever watch, you ever see yourself on video games? You guys ever play and be like, coach, I was playing with you, you know what?
Damon Stoudemire
I quit playing video games a long time ago. But at the same time too, I'm a little pissed off because I did see my rating. I didn't like my rating. My rating, My rating was, my rating was a little bit too low. I really didn't like that.
Bobby Bones
When you get drafted because I think you went seventh overall and you go to Toronto, how'd you feel about going to Canada to play ball?
Damon Stoudemire
I didn't know too much about Canada at that time. Didn't know too much about Toronto, west coast guy. So I was more familiar actually with Vancouver, bc. But when I got to Toronto, I was, I loved it. What a great city. The fans were great, everything was new. So from that standpoint, you didn't know what to expect. But I loved it. You know, to me at that time, when I went, it was, it was a, it was like a cleaner, cleaner version of the East Coast. You know, everything was just nice. They had great shopping, they had great food, they had, you know, great scenery and I enjoyed my time there.
Bobby Bones
I have friends that play college ball, then went to play in the NFL and they talk about the speed difference and so when you go from Arizona to Toronto because you did win Rookie of the Year, like what is that speed difference from going Arizona to the NBA?
Damon Stoudemire
It was definitely, it was definitely a. It was definitely different. You're expected to know, let's say that I was a. You know, back then there wasn't a whole lot of guys leaving school early. So most of us were mature. We were 21 when we got to the NBA. So there was things that we knew that maybe the kids today don't. And so you were expected to be further along or if you weren't, you know, honestly, coaches called you dumb back then, you know, and you just didn't play at all. And so the speed of the game was different, the reads were different. I think that, you know, guys level of basketball IQ was totally different. And you still had guys that were good, that didn't know a lot and you had to do the thinking for them. But for the most part, you know, there were really good players that maybe didn't have the physical tools, but they were definitely mentally, you know, aware and had a great feel and IQ for the gay.
Bobby Bones
When you're talking to kids either in the portal or if you're recruiting freshmen, you're talking to the parents, do you use or how do you use your MBA background to convince them that you and Georgia Tech are right for them?
Damon Stoudemire
Well, I use my, I use my NBA background to, to get into the coaching aspect of it. And then I said, you know, me being here at Georgia Tech, I think, you know, a lot of the times when I retired from, from the NBA, I tried to lead the NBA right there. But as I've got into coaching, obviously it is a big part of the draw for me, me being a 13 year pro. And so I definitely lean on that. I lean on all my experiences. I talk to, you know, a lot of, a lot of the parents and, and the, and the kids about those experiences. And especially with the nil area nowadays, you know, it's very rare that you're going to get a coach that really seat and understands their positioning. Now that doesn't mean they'll always listen to me, but I've been in that seat and I always say, you know, what you're getting in me is a triple threat. You're getting more than a basketball coach. You know, you're getting a mentor. And that mentorship can be in anything. It can be whether it's off the floor, dealing with learning how to say no, dealing with your finances, you know, dealing with the pressures that it takes to be successful. Or it could be. Or it could be, you know, from a basketball standpoint, how to get out of a slump, you know, how to manage expectation, you know, how to manage stardom, you know, different things. So you're getting a whole lot to unpack. When you come play for me, do.
Bobby Bones
You ever run full court with the guys at all?
Damon Stoudemire
I'm not gonna lie to you. I'll do half court, but I'm not.
Bobby Bones
Doing any full court. Yeah, yeah. I feel that full court's a different, that's an animal. I tried, I went to coach, I went to coach Cal's, I'm Arkansas guy, but I went, I'm in good shape. But full court is a different kind of shape. It's just, it's, it's a different monster.
Damon Stoudemire
It's a different beast, man. And basketball, I, I didn't play professionally any other sport, obviously, but basketball fatigue is different type of fatigue. You, you muscles are sore that you didn't even think you had when you, when you run up and down that court.
Bobby Bones
So do you condition your guys like doing strict conditioning or do you play them into shape when the season's starting?
Damon Stoudemire
I do both. This year I've had to do different based on our injuries. So what I, what I do this year is, you know, I do ladders, you know, different things. So we'll, we just run and it's not punishment, but due to the lack of bodies that we have, we got to still get the conditioning in. So I've had to do things a little different this season, but for the most part, I like. I like basketball shape. I like them to play basketball, to get in basketball shape.
Bobby Bones
Who has the most green of lights on your team?
Damon Stoudemire
The most green?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's a green light, but maybe not always. But who has the most green light on your team?
Damon Stoudemire
You know what? There's a couple of these guys that they think they got the green light anyway. You know what? There's about three to four guys. Again, it's based on my numbers. There's about three to four guys that, you know, I don't mind. I don't mind if they shoot it all. To be honest with you, that's not my biggest thing. Just play hard, you know, we can make the shots up, but if you play hard, I can live with that.
Bobby Bones
How often and even during games are you using or listening to analytics?
Damon Stoudemire
I listen to it a lot. You know, I don't. I don't necessarily listen to it all in certain respects only because I believe that, you know, college is different from the pros. So you have some players that analytically, you know, they just don't fit that box, so to speak. But that doesn't mean they can't help you in a game. And so I have to rely on just the feel of basketball and me playing to get me through those moments. But I do listen to. I do listen to a lot of the analytical, analytical ways to be successful on the basketball court.
Bobby Bones
I feel like your position, even watching you play, because I watch you play a lot, that you were a coach on the court. You kind of got to be that when you're a point guard anyway, but even extra. But as soon as you came out, you went right into coaching. Was that always the plan?
Damon Stoudemire
No, it wasn't. But, you know, what happened is, you know, I tell you, I called myself. It was. Let's just. Let's just call it a mini retirement. So I. I probably wasn't out. Well, it was definitely less than a year. But I'm trying to frame it for you and give you a picture. Okay, so this is what it was. So around September is when guys start, you know, you start working out, rounding the shape. So then end of September, guys start moving on and go to camp. So obviously I wasn't going to camp. And so what happened is I was like waking up. I'll go. Give me a workout. I'll go Run some errands, and I'll be like, man, this is it. So. And it was only about, you know, 9, 30, 10 o'clock. So I was like, man, I gotta figure this out, because it's not gonna work, you know, because what happens is as a regimented athlete, you know, you get used to structure. And so I wanted structure. You know, I like structure. And you might hear, and, you know, think about this. There's a lot of athletes that talk about when they, about struggling, when they leave professional sports, retire, whatever that might be, a lot of the struggle is because there's no structure. You gotta have structure. I don't necessarily believe in the added notion, well, I got enough money, I can go do what I want to, man. I want to live another 50 years. And I retired at 35, so I want to live another 50 years. So the money I made in the NBA, regardless of if, if I had it or didn't have it, which I did have it, man, ain't enough. I gotta keep getting it, right? So what better way than to get into coaching? And I, and I say this. Everybody talks about getting their PhD in something. I got my PhD in basketball, so why not stay in basketball?
Bobby Bones
I got three final questions for you, Coach. And I was reading what Brad Stevens was saying about you, and he loved you. At least if you read what he says, like he thought, you know, thought the world of you. What was he like to work for?
Damon Stoudemire
I love Brad, too. He was really good to me. And, you know, the thing that I appreciated about him the most? He allowed me to pick his brain. There's not too many times you come across someone that number one is a good person, but then number two is just how smart he is and, you know, the critical thinker that he is. And that's what I appreciate about him and just being in Boston in general, and the knowledge that he shared about the successes and, and the failures of his coaching career. And those things are things that I didn't take for granted and, and they're things that have helped shape me, you know, as I left Boston. But he was really a really good, good boss and a really good person to be around and learn from.
Bobby Bones
So what do you got to do this season? Like, what's the ceiling for you guys?
Damon Stoudemire
You know, we got a lot of basketball left in us, and, you know, we, we're peaking at the right time. So I'm extremely interested to see how the next month looks for us. But I'm, I'm excited and can't wait to see what happens?
Bobby Bones
Final question. You played against some of the best. Who was the hardest to guard?
Damon Stoudemire
This is what I say. So, you know, it's funny. I just had. You know, I was just talking about this with my coaches in practice, and I think I was listening to some. I was listening to some talk on a sports talk show the other day, I must say. It was Alan Iverson, you know, for me, and that's because of his, you know, basketball ability, obviously, but it was his competitiveness, it was his toughness, it was his will to win. And I was always amazed at his stamina. I was always amazed at that. He was a guy that never got tired. He never got tired, and he laid it on the line each and every game. And, you know, he was, to me, next to Isaiah Thomas, you know, the best little men to play the game.
Bobby Bones
Coach, rooting for you guys the rest of the year. We appreciate the time. Again, that's the most legit Georgia Tech hoodie I've ever seen. Love the color scheme. Like, keep. Keep up the good work. Love to see season one to season two. And we'll be rooting for you and hope to talk to you again sometime soon. Coach, thank you for the time.
Damon Stoudemire
Well, real, real fast, too. Thank you. But I got PTSD sitting at Arkansas. Football helmet up there because they put me out the Final Four. I didn't beat Arkansas one time. When I was in Undergrad, I was 0 for 3.
Bobby Bones
Hey, that's.
Damon Stoudemire
I was 03.
Bobby Bones
You know what? That's Coach. That's Nolan Richardson right there. Coach. That's my guy. That's who it was, man.
Damon Stoudemire
I'm still mad. I'm still mad at them guys, but I love them all. I'm mad at him, but I still love them all at the same time. Small fact. Then I'm gone. Scotty Thurman was my roommate in the Goodwill games back in 94, so he let me hear it every damn day that they beat us in the semifinals that year.
Bobby Bones
Scotty Thurman hit the shot.
Damon Stoudemire
That did it.
Bobby Bones
That three that wanted. All for us, baby. That's awesome. Yes, Coach, thank you. Hope you have a great rest of the day.
Damon Stoudemire
All right now. You, too.
Bobby Bones
All right, See ya. We got a message from this lawyer that we're going to work with as far as setting up this pickleball match. And he wrote to us, we're going to talk to him probably on next week's episode. So he looked up some ideas on how to set up his escrow for the pickleball challenge. He says it's probably better to refer to it as a competition involving skill rather than a bet and call it an entry fee of $1,000 with the winner getting $2,000.
Eddie
He's already a smart lawyer. We're all like, oh, we made a bet.
Bobby Bones
Keeps us from doing something illegal.
Kevin
Give me your Venmo.
Eddie
So we're idiots.
Bobby Bones
We will talk to him. We're gonna record it later this week. We'll have him on probably the episode Monday of next week. And from there, we will start trying to line up the pickleball challenge. If the guy doesn't back out.
Eddie
I saw that you booked a lawyer, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. Like, who did you get? I was thinking like, Saul, you know, Saul Goodman? Is that his name? Yeah, from here. But everybody knows Saul or whatever. Like. But no, after reading that, we got a legit lawyer on the line.
Bobby Bones
You thought I would just find some guy in a bad suit? Yeah, yeah.
Eddie
Like a nickel ambulance chaser.
Bobby Bones
So he's going to be on next week, and we will move forward with that. Philadelphia Eagles made Saquon the highest paid running back in NFL history. Running backs still don't make any money. They make a lot of money, relatively speaking, but, yeah, 20 million a year. I mean, the best receivers make way more than that. Miles Garrett makes way more than that. You guys aren't gonna believe this, but there was a day when running backs were actually important, when.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Like, when running backs made them, arguably around the most. Quarterbacks still got paid the best, but running backs used to get paid like they were three down backs. Emmett Smith. I mean, you could go through all those guys from, like, the late 90s, but unless you can catch the ball, unless you can play. Play a little H Vac, I mean, you're just not really going to get paid. I mean, Deebo's making 20 million a year. Saquon is making 20 million a year.
Eddie
Yeah. And if you would put them side by side, you're like, saquon's a superstar.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But Deebo plays wide receivers.
Eddie
Yeah, he's a receiver.
Bobby Bones
Wide receivers are a bit more important now. Kobe and Jordan's debut jerseys are going up for sale. Two prize NBA jerseys are about to hit the auction block and could go for a combined $20 million.
Eddie
Oh, my goodness.
Bobby Bones
Sotheby's will soon be featuring NBA debut jerseys from Michael Jordan and Kobe in auctions. The Jordan jersey is from his preseason debut in 1984. It is autographed. That auction is March 12th. The Kobe jersey is from his Regular season debut in 1996, and the auction is set to begin on April 10th. To date, the most expensive jersey ever sold was his last dance Jersey from the 90 NBA Finals. It went for $10.1 million in 2022.
Kevin
Signed or. It doesn't say.
Bobby Bones
It doesn't say if it was signed or not, but that almost doesn't matter. When a jersey is that expensive, it doesn't make it that much more valuable because you could probably pay Michael Jordan $250,000 to sign it, and he would sign it. But it's about it being from that game and game worn. But I would be so nervous to buy this even if I had a lot of money, because the resell on this. There's just so many people that can buy this. It's a very limited amount of people that can spend 10 million. And if you're buying it, you're probably buying it as an investment piece to have to try to sell back in three, five, seven years.
Eddie
Okay. I would hope so, because I was thinking somebody would just buy it because they're like, wow, they want to have that jersey. But that doesn't make any sense to me. Investment makes a lot of sense to me.
Bobby Bones
Well, if you're really rich, you can just have it. But, I mean, you buy it the same way you'd buy art or the same way you would buy something that you hope grows in value. Because even if you buy it to have it, at some point, you want to be able to sell it back if you need to. And if Michael Jordan, like, touches a kid or robs a bank, oh, my God forbid. Yes. And he hasn't. But when you buy somebody's jersey that's alive, that's like naming a school after somebody.
Eddie
Yeah. You got to wait till they're dead so they can't make any mistakes.
Bobby Bones
I mean, Kobe's will sell not as much as Jordan's, but, I mean, you know, Kobe got.
Eddie
He had some.
Bobby Bones
He had some headlines, but he can't do anything work. He can't do anything bad now. That's it.
Eddie
Whatever happened, that's it.
Kevin
And nobody even talks about that anymore.
Bobby Bones
Like, and I don't even know and where the charges dropped.
Kevin
Eventually, I think they made a settlement.
Bobby Bones
But don't say maybe because we don't know maybe.
Eddie
But Kevin is right, though. Kevin's right. Like, we don't. No one ever talked about that again.
Kevin
Yeah, they were dismissed. They were dismissed.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Kevin
See, maybe. Nope.
Eddie
They were dismissed, dismissed, difference and settled.
Bobby Bones
Dismissed.
Eddie
Big difference.
Bobby Bones
And no civil trial. Mike no, money was. Was. Doesn't look like it. In 2004, Kobe Bryant did. An NBA star was accused of sexual assault by a woman. The woman alleged that Bryant had assaulted her in a hotel room. Prosecutors dropped the charges just before the case was scheduled to go to trial. Civil lawsuit. The woman filed a civil lawsuit against Bryant, which was later settled out of court.
Eddie
Oh, so.
Bobby Bones
So there was.
Eddie
That's right.
Bobby Bones
So criminally dropped, but settled out of court. So money, money there. But nothing else is gonna happen because that's why we don't have Bill Cosby Elementary.
Eddie
Do you think there ever was? And they're like, take that sign down now.
Bobby Bones
I don't know, dude. I know they pulled back, like, doctorates, honorary doctorates from him. Yeah, like, if I screwed up real bad some way, they pull mine immediately from the University of Arkansas. So those jerseys will go up, which is pretty cool. If you have money to buy a $10 million jersey, you either need to get with 9,900,999 friends and I'll put in a dollar, or you need to have a net worth of like $750 million to buy that.
Eddie
Not a net worth of $20 million, because that'd be half a year.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. It's like buying a car that is expensive. And you're like, man, I put it all in the car. But if you can't afford to fix it, then you can't really afford to buy it.
Eddie
Yep.
Bobby Bones
Next time you go into your local restaurant or anywhere that's public and you go into the bathroom, if you go into a gas station, you go to the bathroom. They're saying, I read this from the Daily Mail, that when you have the toilet paper, look at the roll of toilet paper before you start to use the toilet paper. If the roll has, like, indentions or rust colored marks, you should probably avoid that and, like, roll it off and throw it away. Because the small marks could be specks of blood from dirty needles used for injecting illegal drugs. And that people will go into the bathrooms, like, clean their dirty needles before they use them again. And of course, if there's a chance there's blood on it, the blood could be infected with the virus.
Kevin
It's like a new fear unlocked.
Bobby Bones
Well, this was possibly like one of those things too, where back in the day, it was like, if you're in a payphone, don't put your finger in the bottom of it, because it could be a needle that had AIDS in it.
Eddie
Yeah, I remember that. Did you ever get clicks?
Bobby Bones
I used to have good AIDS from it.
Kevin
No, no, no.
Bobby Bones
We would know that. I just never thought that was real because that's a lot of work for someone to give someone aids, which probably isn't going to happen anyway because the blood is dried and anything in it's probably dead. I think that was just an urban legend, but everybody believed it. I mean, it got around. If it got to Texas and Arkansas.
Eddie
Oh, yeah, it was out. So that's the same thing with, like, the drugs and Halloween candy, right? Like, I don't think drug dealers are cool with just giving away drugs, like.
Kevin
Or the razor blades.
Eddie
People like to keep their drugs and use their drugs, not just, like, give it to random people.
Bobby Bones
Every once in a while there will be a razor blade or a needle in a can. Andy.
Eddie
Like, once a don't find it couple.
Bobby Bones
Years and then it reignites a stupid rumor. Yeah. We told you.
Eddie
Are you public bathroom? Are you. Do you go there for number two?
Bobby Bones
I try not to.
Eddie
And if you do, do you hover toilet paper on the seat?
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah.
Eddie
What do you do?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's. It's. It's a mummy. That toilet.
Eddie
You wrap it?
Kevin
The whole thing?
Bobby Bones
The whole toilet. Like, I'm wrapping, like the back thing.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Tub and the all. I'm wrapping it all.
Kevin
Yeah. From the tile up.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, all the way. I'm wrapping the room. I toilet papered the room if I have to.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
I really try not to.
Eddie
I appreciate those sheets that come, you know, that you can. They're the shape of the toilet, except the middle part is usually stuck. And if you don't rip that out, like, it's gonna catch your stuff, and that's not good. You know what I'm talking about?
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Eddie
But sometimes it's connected, man.
Bobby Bones
They do that on purpose. So it's not hanging. So it doesn't easily rip. All you have to do is go and you rip that little metal. You're supposed to rip the thing before you even put it on.
Eddie
I didn't know that.
Bobby Bones
All of a sudden you have a net holding. That's what I'm talking about.
Eddie
It was like a net. You're like, this is not good.
Bobby Bones
Going to the SEC basketball tournament on Wednesday. I like it that it's at noon. We're gonna go. Yeah, I like it that it's at noon.
Eddie
And, like, get out of the way.
Bobby Bones
Like, we can leave work. Go right to it. Arkansas plays at noon. They're playing South Carolina. They had a big one over Mississippi State on Saturday morning, which was great. Which means we're gonna make the tournament as well. Almost guaranteed.
Eddie
So what's the percentage on that?
Bobby Bones
75%. And if we win a game at Ole Miss or against Ole Miss in the first round, for sure. But that'll be fun. We'll go at noon, be back home by 2:30.
Eddie
Yeah, that's perfect.
Bobby Bones
The next day, the game's at noon as well.
Eddie
If we win, you don't want to stay for the second game?
Bobby Bones
I can't stay for the second game. I gotta work.
Eddie
You always have to work, dude. You need to stop working so much.
Bobby Bones
And enjoy life so much. We wouldn't get to go to the game.
Eddie
That's a good point.
Kevin
Keep working.
Damon Stoudemire
Go back to work.
Kevin
Keep working.
Bobby Bones
So, yeah, March Madness is awesome.
Eddie
Ah, so much fun.
Bobby Bones
What's going to suck is I'm not really going to be able to watch it. Even if Arkansas makes a tournament, I'll be in Europe.
Eddie
They don't. They don't do March Madness in Europe.
Bobby Bones
First of all, the time changes.
Eddie
Oh, my goodness.
Bobby Bones
And I would go.
Eddie
What are you thinking? Why would you plan this?
Bobby Bones
It was the only week I could do it. I know, but that's it.
Eddie
I'll give you updates.
Bobby Bones
I don't need updates. I've let my wife know, though. This is the ultimate sacrifice.
Eddie
It is. Dude, lay that on thick.
Bobby Bones
I've let her know. Sacrifice. So, yeah, it sucks. But sorry, man, we come back on that Saturday. So if Arkansas happens to play on Friday and they win and then they play on Sunday, we may land and I get back on a plane and go watch.
Eddie
Why don't you just change your flight to wherever they're playing?
Bobby Bones
Because they may not win. If they don't win the first, why would I fly to Milwaukee then?
Eddie
You're stuck in Milwaukee.
Bobby Bones
We fly to Milwaukee. There's no game. That'd be terrible. And my wife would not.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
She would not be cool with that. All right, cool. One more break. Hey, it's Bobby Bones with some exciting news. Open booking is here for the top shelf country Cruise setting sale February 2026. Bobby Bones
All right, let's talk about Kevin got married.
Kevin
Yeah, talk about it.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Go ahead, man.
Kevin
Yeah, it's, it's a good feeling. It's been, I feel like I've been on Gone for a long time.
Eddie
Us too. We feel that way too.
Kevin
In the sports work sports world, you're kind of like, you miss out on things. Like you're talking about going to Europe.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I go to the Bathroom and catch up on everything.
Kevin
This is where I struggled. I talked to Eddie about this a little bit. I tried to totally detach myself from everything and I couldn't do it. As far as work, sports, I was able to do it a little bit better, but work wise, I tried to get away from everything. Enjoy the honeymoon, enjoy the marriage, enjoy the wedding and everything. And I did the best I could, but I just don't know if that's wired. And I know Bobby, Mike, you guys are pretty similar too. Do you struggle with that on the vacations?
Bobby Bones
No, I go to the bathroom.
Kevin
Okay.
Eddie
That's where you get your work done.
Bobby Bones
Stomach issues. So I catch up on everything. Like if I'm in there for 20, 25 minutes, I'm catching up on emails, I'm all the way through espn, all the scores I got, all the, all the teams, specifically that I follow, the players I follow. No. And. And sometimes I have to go to the bathroom because my wife can't prove I don't have to go to the bathroom.
Eddie
She cannot. She won't go in there with you.
Bobby Bones
My stomach hurts. I'm have to hop in. I'll be back in. No, you don't prove it. And then if she ever tries, I'll just poop in the floor. She'll never doubt it again. Like that'll never be.
Eddie
That never happens.
Bobby Bones
So, yeah, even when we go overseas, I keep up. Even on our honeymoon, I kept up because I would just do it in the bath. I'm in there anyway. So what are you going to do? Catch up. Tiktoks like keeping new trends.
Kevin
See you're a seasoned vet. Yeah, I should have known this before I left.
Bobby Bones
You'll have plenty of time to be married, bro. Yeah, that's what I've learned. In just three and a half years, you'll have plenty of time to be married. You definitely don't want her to feel disrespected. You don't want her to feel like you're paying attention to your phone at times like this. But there are times that you can actually get away and pay attention to your phone. So that would be the advice I would give you is pay attention to your phone in places where they can't tell you're paying attention to your phone. Okay. How was the wedding?
Kevin
It was awesome. It was great. Very small, intimate. I think 15 people total. Just family only. We did the whole reception at a small like church elopement. And then we did a Airbnb house for the dinner and everything. And after we did everything ourselves. It was nice. Easy now. It's easy. And it was nice.
Bobby Bones
Eddie, anything you want to say? Yeah.
Eddie
What did you guys do after like all that? Did you guys do any like kind of celebrating with the rest of your friends?
Kevin
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That Friday. That Friday we did a little celebration. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Did you hear it and.
Kevin
Yeah, I did. I did. I saw. Yeah, I was out and I thought.
Bobby Bones
He wasn't watching his phone trying to.
Kevin
Be on my honeymoon. And I had to. I saw the. The title say that you guys were upset about something so I had to take a listen and you guys were up upset that.
Eddie
Do you think we have a valid point?
Bobby Bones
So you invited McKitty.
Kevin
But now to be fair, the only reason I really invited McKitty because he gave me crap for never inviting my house that I moved into a year ago. And I invited him this time. And guess what? He didn't even come. And I knew he was going to tell you. Eddie. I just knew because you guys talk about everything.
Bobby Bones
Eddie feel good that you only invited him because of crap given.
Eddie
Does that make you feel good, Bobby?
Bobby Bones
No, I. I just knew my Kevin list places now.
Kevin
I just. I just knew there's no way in hell you guys would have come.
Bobby Bones
That's why you should have invited.
Eddie
And that's not true. You don't know that. Eddie, you have. You don't know that.
Kevin
Okay, Friday, Friday afternoon.
Eddie
Like Bobby likes to say, you can never prove it.
Kevin
A Friday.
Bobby Bones
How can you prove that?
Kevin
Okay, we weren't going to come. How about. How about this, you guys, you might go to the game Thursday.
Bobby Bones
We don't want any sort of like consolation prize.
Eddie
Yeah, what.
Bobby Bones
What are you going to say?
Kevin
I'm doing a birthday dinner on Thursday. You want to come?
Eddie
No. Cool. Sounds fun, man. Have fun with your friends. Yeah.
Kevin
Good job, Mike. You want to come?
Bobby Bones
Good luck with your old friends.
Eddie
Yeah. McKitty.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Hope you and McKitty have a good birthday.
Kevin
Trust me, you guys wouldn't want to come.
Bobby Bones
Did you had a honeymoon? You did, you did. Wedding, right to honeymoon, right?
Kevin
Yeah. Wedding, right to honeymoon.
Bobby Bones
Curacao.
Kevin
Down there by like south or just north of South America. It was awesome. I mean it's like this little island, basically secluded out there. And we did one of those, you know, all inclusive resort resorts. And it was great. Just relaxing.
Ben Walter
Very relaxing.
Eddie
North of South America.
Kevin
Yeah, one of those little islands and.
Bobby Bones
Just you arrive in McKitty.
Kevin
Yeah, yeah. McKinney had his own room though.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Kevin
Yeah. Don't worry.
Bobby Bones
And how many days Were you there?
Kevin
Six.
Bobby Bones
Oh, that's a long.
Kevin
It's a lot. It was. Yeah, it was. I was ready.
Bobby Bones
Are you a beach person?
Kevin
No, I'm more of a pool person.
Eddie
You guys are crazy. Like, that's a long time.
Bobby Bones
Like, it's a long time.
Kevin
That's a very long time.
Eddie
Paradise.
Kevin
Yeah, but that's not paradise for me.
Bobby Bones
And also.
Eddie
Oh, dang.
Bobby Bones
Like, what do you do at a beach or pool? I'm just. I don't enjoy beaches or pools. And we went to Greece for hours and we spent like four days on a beach. And she loved it, so I just acted like I loved it.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But it's like, what am I supposed to do?
Kevin
I need to be doing something. You know what I was proud of? I worked out twice while there.
Eddie
That's stupid.
Kevin
That's pretty good, right?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's tough. Gets good. Good for you. Because I tried to even do like half 45 minutes a day just to stay on something. Be that much harder once you get back into it.
Kevin
Exactly.
Eddie
You guys aren't about salt life. You guys are like, what are you talking about? You're talking about real world stuff. Like when you're on vacation, you just late. You do nothing. Yeah, that's a recharge your body.
Bobby Bones
Vacation to me is not just doing nothing at a beach. Vacation to. Everybody can be different.
Kevin
Yeah, I need to be. I like doing something.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Kevin
I like physically doing something.
Bobby Bones
I would like to go on vacation and like what we're about to do, we're about to go hit multiple cities and get on a train and go from here to this city. We've never been.
Eddie
Go see stuff.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I get that. I like that.
Kevin
Me too. But the whole thing was she's seven months pregnant, so can't really do much.
Eddie
Did you drink around her?
Bobby Bones
Also, if she goes into labor, like, you're in another.
Kevin
I know. That's why we needed to do it now. And it's basically. Oh, speaking of this, have you guys heard of a baby moon?
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Kevin
Yes. Okay. That's a thing.
Bobby Bones
But you're too close. That was a honey.
Kevin
It was a combination. Yeah.
Eddie
This is like having a birthday and Christmas hubby moon.
Kevin
Yeah. I didn't know that until we started planning this. And there was like, oh, we can do a baby slash honeymoon combined.
Bobby Bones
But baby, it's not a real thing. It's just. It's a social media thing.
Kevin
Is that a new thing?
Bobby Bones
Ish. Past five, seven years. It's not a real thing.
Eddie
It's probably a thing now, though. Like. Like Valentine's Day was kind of a. Is this really a thing?
Bobby Bones
Most people don't go on baby moons. Like, 98% of people don't go on baby moons unless they're a social media influencer and they can post it online or they go on, like, a stay home, home, baby. Do you know a single person who's been on baby moon?
Eddie
No.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Kevin
No, I know one other person other than me.
Bobby Bones
She have a bunch of followers?
Kevin
No. I thought it was like a Southern thing because she's. I don't know.
Bobby Bones
Where did they go?
Kevin
Tallahassee, Florida.
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Kevin
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Well, congratulations.
Kevin
Thank you.
Eddie
Yeah, congrats.
Kevin
Thank you. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Very nice. Glad to be back.
Eddie
We saw the pictures. It looked like a lot of fun.
Bobby Bones
He invited McKitty because McKitty gave him crap.
Eddie
Makes no sense.
Bobby Bones
How about invite people that don't give you crap?
Eddie
Yeah. And we actually love you and care about you.
Bobby Bones
You said that wrong.
Eddie
Care about you and care about you.
Kevin
I'm sorry, guys.
Bobby Bones
Okay, for now, that is it. Thank you.
Eddie
You wanna go get my whistle?
Bobby Bones
Nah.
Eddie
All right.
Bobby Bones
We may end up coming back and doing a little additional. Anyway.
Eddie
Cool.
Bobby Bones
No, not cool.
Eddie
Whatever you want to do.
Bobby Bones
Thank you.
Kevin
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
That's what I mean by cool.
Bobby Bones

Podcast Summary: The Bobby Bones Show – Episode 25W Release Date: March 10, 2025
1. Introduction The episode, titled "It's a Bad Day to Be a Cowboys Fan + Georgia Tech HC Damon Stoudemire on Arkansas Giving Him PTSD + Kickoff Kevin is Back from His Wedding & Honeymoon!", delves into multiple engaging topics ranging from NFL free agency woes to an insightful interview with Georgia Tech's Head Coach Damon Stoudemire, and a heartfelt update on co-host Kevin's recent nuptials.
2. It's a Bad Day to Be a Cowboys Fan
Discussion Between Bobby Bones, Eddie, and Kevin
The episode kicks off with a heated discussion about the Dallas Cowboys' tumultuous free agency period, highlighting the team's delayed decisions and the financial implications of their choices.
Bobby Bones ([02:16]):
"Max Crosby was the highest non-quarterback, and then Miles Garrett is the highest non-quarterback. If the Cowboys had signed Micah Parsons already, they would have saved a bunch of money."
Eddie ([02:50]):
"Jerry Jones is a businessman. Why are we making these bad business decisions?"
The conversation underscores the Cowboys' strategic missteps, particularly their hesitation in securing key players like Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons. They compare these decisions to other teams' moves, such as the Pittsburgh Steelers' potential interest in Aaron Rodgers and their acquisition of DK Metcalf.
The hosts express frustration over the Cowboys' financial constraints and strategic delays, questioning the long-term impact on the team's performance and fan morale.
3. Interview with Damon Stoudemire – Georgia Tech Head Coach
In-Depth Conversation with Damon Stoudemire ([12:13] – [30:35])
Damon Stoudemire, the former NBA Rookie of the Year and current head coach of Georgia Tech's men's basketball team, joins the show to discuss his coaching philosophy, team dynamics, and personal experiences.
a. Team Dynamics and Performance
Bobby Bones ([13:34]):
"How do you generally feel about NET being used for evaluating teams?"
Damon Stoudemire ([13:34]):
"I'm from the old school. It should just be the strength of schedule, like how it used to be back in the day. Formulas don't replace genuine competition analysis."
Stoudemire emphasizes the importance of traditional metrics like strength of schedule over formulaic systems like NET, advocating for a more nuanced approach to evaluating team performance.
b. Reflecting on Past Games
Bobby Bones ([15:10]):
"What game mostly haunts you?"
Damon Stoudemire ([15:12]):
"We lost to North Florida, and Notre Dame. If we had won those, we might be in the discussion now."
He reflects on pivotal games that could have altered the team's postseason prospects, highlighting the thin margins in competitive basketball.
c. Player Development and Coaching Challenges
Bobby Bones ([16:18]):
"What has been the most growth for you in your second year as head coach?"
Damon Stoudemire ([16:25]):
"Teaching has become paramount, especially with the injuries we've faced. Formulating strategies each game to maximize our success has been both challenging and rewarding."
Stoudemire discusses the dual focus on strategic planning and player mentorship, underscoring the growth he's witnessed in his players' understanding and execution of the game.
d. Conditioning and Team Strategy
Bobby Bones ([23:21]):
"Do you condition your guys with strict routines or play them into shape as the season starts?"
Damon Stoudemire ([23:21]):
"I do both. This season, with limited personnel, we've incorporated ladders and other conditioning drills to ensure the team stays in shape without overtaxing them."
He highlights the balance between structured conditioning and adaptive strategies to maintain player fitness amidst injuries.
e. Personal Reflections and Coaching Philosophy
Bobby Bones ([25:07]):
"Was coaching always the plan after your playing career?"
Damon Stoudemire ([25:21]):
"No, it wasn't. But I needed structure after retiring from the NBA. Coaching provides that structure and allows me to continue my passion for basketball."
Stoudemire shares his transition from professional player to coach, emphasizing the need for structure and his dedication to mentoring young athletes beyond just the game.
f. Emotional Insights
He candidly opens up about past sports experiences that left a lasting emotional impact, demonstrating vulnerability and the psychological aspects of competitive sports.

Kevin ([43:46]):
"I tried to totally detach myself during the honeymoon, but I couldn't. I kept catching up on emails and work."
Bobby Bones ([44:04]):
"I go to the bathroom and catch up on everything."
