Life as a Gringo no making smarter financial moves today secures your financial freedom for a successful tomorrow. In my family, one of the biggest points of contention was finances. And I know as I gotten older I made it a promise to myself to say, I don't want to relive that. You know, hiring somebody to do credit repair for me, that was a gift that I gave myself that allowed me to then get my first apartment, then eventually buy my own home. Like these are all things that are possible. Like a good neighbor. State Farm is there.

The Best Bits of the Week with.
Amy
Morgan Part one Behind the scenes with.
Bobby
A member of the show. Merry Post Christmas, everybody. Welcome to the Best Bits. I'm joined this weekend by Abby. Abby. Merry belated Christmas.
Amy
Ho, ho, ho. Merry belated Christmas.
Bobby
It feels weird saying that because normally it's always our. These best bits roll before the holidays, but because of how it falls this year, it's both after. And so we're doing, like, post things, but we're also recording this before they even happen. So we're here.
Amy
Here we are. We went into the future.
Bobby
We did.
Amy
We're.
Bobby
And we're gonna think back on things that have happened that have not quite happened yet. But we're gonna. We're gonna figure it out because this is the Christmas edition of Best Bits. So, Abby, talk to me about the holidays. What you been doing? What'd you go do over Christmas?
Amy
Yeah, we're in the Christmas holiday.
Bobby
No longer Thanksgiving. We haven't made it to New Year's yet.
Amy
I came home to Wichita and you did, too.
Bobby
Yeah, we did.
Amy
Hung out with family, of course. My boyfriend came home for the first time.
Bobby
Okay. But he's the family.
Amy
My parents, like my mom and stepdad, but he has not met anybody else, like my dad and stepmom, so my friends. I'm very excited.
Bobby
Oh, that's so exciting.
Amy
I know.
Bobby
Are you freaking out at all?
Amy
Yeah, a little. Yeah.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
He was only able to stay, like, a couple of days, though, so.
Bobby
Did you guys also do Christmas here in Nashville too?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
Or also. Sorry, guys, if I say, like, here, my verbs are press present past tense. What? Just roll with it.
Amy
Okay. We did Christmas, like, before I left for home, so.
Bobby
Got it.
Amy
Kind of did our little personal one.
Bobby
Did you also visit his family?
Amy
No, I'm not. We're not going have time to do that this year. Yeah. Because he has kids, so he's here with his kids and is going to stay here. And then that's why I get to go home a little longer, but.
Bobby
Oh, how long do you. Do you plan to go home for?
Amy
I haven't even booked my flight back, honestly, yet, so. I don't know.
Bobby
I really love that I'm, like, asking the questions because it hasn't happened yet and then you're answering in, like, the.
Amy
Current or crushing this. Well, I think you have plans.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
For after Christmas. Yeah, like, more to go somewhere. But I'm. I'm not. I'm just staying Just hanging out at home. Yeah. And then gonna go back to Nashville. So.
Bobby
So will he be doing, like, his personal Christmas with his kids the whole time? Is that kind of what's happening? Got it. And then you'll hang out with them for a little bit, and then you'll get to go home.
Amy
Yes.
Bobby
But he's getting also to come for.
Amy
A little bit, too. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby
Lots of navigating of holidays there is.
Amy
Yeah. I know. It's.
Bobby
Is that weird?
Amy
It is weird. Yeah. Because I wish he could be, like, he could have been there. How am I talking on Christmas Day? It's really hard.
Bobby
I know.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
It's also. I feel like a difficult thing when you're in a new relationship and all of this is happening for the first time and you're starting to navigate. Okay, what are we gonna do? We go to see your family. My family. Are we spending it together? What's happening?
Amy
It really is weird. Especially when it's like, his family is in Wisconsin, and then mine's in Kansas, and then. But then his kids and him, and we live in Nashville, so. Yeah. It's just a lot of, I don't know, moving parts. Figure it out. Yeah.
Bobby
What's your favorite thing when you go back for. To Wichita for the holidays? Like, is there anything you have to make sure you do while you're in town?
Amy
Oh, my gosh. What do I have to do? I mean, I always just. That's the thing is when I go back for Christmas, it's mostly just, like, seeing people. We don't really do a lot of the things that I want to. Like, botanica.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
I used to love doing that. I just never have time anymore. Like, do you go to that? Yeah.
Bobby
How do. How do you not have time? Just make all the people you want to see go with you.
Amy
I know. It's. They just. It's too hard, like, getting my friends together. I always try. Like, all my high school friends are like, oh, we have a family dinner tonight, or, oh, we're going to whatever tomorrow. Like, it just. It never works out. Maybe this year I'll try. Yeah. Before I go back. But it's always just like, I have to see everybody, and we don't really do anything. Like, my high school friends, they all bring their kids and husbands and we go, like, to brunch or something. So I love doing that. That's really fun.
Bobby
Okay, see, that's something. Where do you guys typically go to brunch?
Amy
At home. And it switches up every year. Like, home. What is It Homegrown. Homegrown. I love that place.
Bobby
The best. Best Homema. Pop Pop Pop Tarts.
Amy
I know words are hard. I always let them pick because they live in Wichita and they're like, oh, I'm just like, just pick the newest, greatest place. So I'm gonna try Belmont. Is that what it's called?
Bobby
Belmont's really good. They have the bruschetta flights, and those are great, but that's obviously not brunch.
Amy
You know what I want? Well, you don't like coffee. You don't drink coffee. But I want to do, like, a coffee flight. Oh, I don't know. I don't know if they do.
Bobby
I don't know if they do either.
Amy
Check that out.
Bobby
We. Yeah, we do always do. Botanica. That's always one we do as a family. We all go together. So that's like a family outing, Christmas event. And then I always make sure to stop at Coco Dolce, which was at the Vegas hotel Fountain Blue that I went to by, like, a miracle. That's the only other location besides Wichita.
Amy
Did it start in Wichita?
Bobby
Yep.
Amy
And so why is it in Vegas? Like, that's wild.
Bobby
So somebody wrote to me on Instagram and told me that the somebody who's invested in Fontainebleau, they said Coke is in. Coke. Obviously Wichita related.
Amy
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Bobby
But I'm not sure the full connection or the full, like, depth of that. That's just what somebody said.
Amy
Coke, Coco Dolce, Fountain Blue, billionaire, millionaire, whatever.
Bobby
Yeah. Three things I got combined in that. But I always stop there because they have such good hot chocolate. They do, like, different kinds and all, like, certain flavors or whatever. So I always have to go and get a hot chocolate from there, and I get a whole box of chocolates that either don't make it home or half make home. So I do that. I also love to go to Mort's for the martini night.
Amy
Oh, I did that last year. Yes. That was so fun.
Bobby
The Monday night, where it's like. It's like a dollar. I don't know. It's super cheap. And it's just so fun in there. And it's. The whole patio is heated. It's very comfy and cozy. So that one. And then I always try and see some of my friends. Some friends from college sometimes come in town for their families. Another friends also sometimes come in town. But also it's just the time. Much like you're saying, sometimes we, like, just miss each other.
Amy
I know. It is so hard to get everybody together at once.
Bobby
It is it so is. And I make my play. My family play a lot of board games.
Amy
That's always a. Oh, that's fun. Yeah, like, drinking games.
Bobby
They're like, okay, Morgan, what's. What's game night? No, like, we play, like, legit the games. Like, we'll play throw. Throw burrito this year. I'm gonna bring that along. Yeah, we'll do the swords game and, like, all. All kinds. Also find some from that have like, gone viral in the past year that you've seen, like, the random games that people play at their Christmas. We'll do those.
Amy
Yeah, that's fun.
Bobby
Last year we did, like, the bow one, the one with where you try to pick up as many bows as possible with the spatula, all that kind of stuff.
Amy
Those are fun. I've seen the ones where they, like, you draw. You get a number or something, and you pick what's under the cup or. And then. Or the number under the cup is your prize. And that looks so cool. And it's so easy.
Bobby
Yeah, it's just somebody has to organize those.
Amy
That's the thing. Are you the organizer?
Bobby
No, Taylor. My sister and I sometimes are, but also one of my older sisters last year also did the Saran Wrap ball, where you basically put a bunch of gift cards and, like, alcohol and, like, you have to pass it around and try and open it with mitts on.
Amy
Oh, that's funny.
Bobby
And you're trying to get the Saran Wrap and get as many as you can.
Amy
No way.
Bobby
Because that's what you get is your prize. So we did that one year too.
Amy
So that is cool.
Bobby
All kinds of random games.
Amy
I want to go ice skating.
Bobby
Ice skating? In which job?
Amy
I think at Chicken and Pickle. Oh, they had it last year. I think they put up, like, a ice skating rink.
Bobby
I'm like, that's over on your bougie side of town.
Amy
Yeah, I don't know your side. I'm sorry. Hey, when you go everything you said you want. Oh, no, not really. I was like, everything you said you wanted to do is kind of on my side.
Bobby
No cocoa. There's a Coco Dolce and Maze. There's Botanica is in, like, downtown. So that's in between both of us and games around my house. What's the other?
Amy
Was the other you said. What'd you say? Oh, Moritz, Mort.
Bobby
That's downtown.
Amy
Downtown. It's like, in between.
Bobby
That's. That's where I don't cross, you know, downtown is where. I'm just kidding. Well, I love both sides. It's just funny to give you our time.
Amy
You do Chicken and Pickle. That's where it's at. It's fun there. They have, like, Christmas themed drinks and do you.
Bobby
Can you play pickleball in the winter?
Amy
Oh, man. Well, it's inside.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
Half of them are inside. I think.
Bobby
So then, yeah, I need to go. I haven't been to Chicken, Chick hole, chickle, pickle. Chicken and a Pickle in a hot minute.
Amy
Really? Yeah, it's fun. I haven't either, so. Gotta check that out.
Bobby
Maybe we should meet up at Chicken and a Pickle.
Amy
We. We should.
Bobby
We should. We can't meet any of our friends, but at least we can hang out.
Amy
Yeah. If there's no one that's answering or like, I can't. I'll be like, okay, see you there.
Bobby
Go get a drink. No, I know it's not what you mean. That's not what I meant. Yeah, but that was funny.
Amy
I know.
Bobby
If it's more that, like, we see each other all the time.
Amy
Exactly. We could, like, hang out here and we still don't.
Bobby
We have tried on different occasions.
Amy
We have tried. We've tried.
Bobby
It's. It's chaotic. Especially now with you having your boyfriend, which, by the way, got all kinds of questions. And we're gonna take a little break here in a minute and then we're gonna come back and you have to tell me if you guys are, like, living together and stuff, because that's the thing we need.
Amy
That's. Whoa. That's a big, big thing.
Bobby
I know. Okay, so quick break and we'll be right back.

And we're back from the break. That was such a good tease.
Amy
Look at me go. We are just pros at this.
Bobby
All right, Abby. Are you guys living together? What's happening? Did it happen yet?
Amy
We are actually not. He's asked me so many times and I'm just one that I've been used to being on my own. Like, it's just like a slow process because I own my own house and he owns his and they are on completely opposite sides of town. And my drive right now, I'm pretty close to work. He has kids. It's just a lot, like, it's a lot in my life. And I know the change is big and I know, like, it needs to happen for things to progress, but it's just like, I think at the beginning of the year is when we're going to.
Bobby
So has your reluctancy to it changed at all and now you're just like finding the right timing for it or do you feel like you still have the reluctancy and timing just hasn't been right yet either? All of it's still kind of there.
Amy
I think it's just more like I get so overwhelmed when I think about it and like me having a fully furnished, like three bedroom house and like a guest room for people to stay in and I'm just like, what am I going to do with all this? And I don't want to sell my house and I'm scared to rent it out because I. Some people are just like, really rough. I'm like, I've taken so good care of my house and like, I just don't want it to get trashed. But I'm like, Abby, like, this is life. You know, I'm trying to just be like, that's what happens in life. You don't. You're not gonna like, stay in your house forever by yourself, okay?
Bobby
But this is a situation where two things are true. One, you love your house, you want to stay there, and you want your life to be what it is. Like, you've. You've created this life for yourself and you love it. Like, that is true. The other side of this is. It's also true, is that you would like to live with him and you would like to progress in this relationship and you would like to see where it continues to go and that next step is living together and what all comes with that. Both of those are true and neither one is wrong. So you have to, you know, remember that it's okay to be feeling both of those things right, although hard, because you will have to make a decision and you are going to have to kind of let go of some now, hopefully. The goal and all of that though, is that while you may be letting go of your house in some capacity, whether it's living there, selling it. Whatever. Like, you. The way that you're going to feel comfortable in that is, like, how are you going to be able to be you in the new space?
Amy
Right. Yeah. And I mean, that's what I told him, too. I'm like, I'm gonna need to bring some of my stuff, you know, to, like, make it feel like home. And he also agrees. Like, he's like, I want you to feel like you're at home. Like, I don't want you to feel out of place. But that's how I've always been when I'm at someone else's house, you know, I'm just like, I feel more comfortable in my kitchen. I can just get out anything when I'm at his house, like. Or whatever. I'm just like, oh, can I get this? He's like, why are you asking me? I'm like, I don't know. I just. That's how I always am. I just don't like to make anybody think I'm. I don't know. I don't even know.
Bobby
Okay, so question is there. I mean, and, you know, I know the housing market's insane and it's Nashville and whatever, Is there the ability for you guys to just buy a new house together, and maybe it's somewhere in between, and then now both of you have to give something up, and you're also giving up the areas of town you live in collectively. And it's more of this kind of team versus maybe right now where you feel like, oh, I'm giving up everything. And not in a bad way, like, you want to, but you're like, this also feels like a lot. Like, I'm giving up all of this.
Amy
No, that is possible. His kids, he wants them to stay where they are in that school district. So that's the thing that is a little different. I mean, I like where he lives a lot. It's just farther out and more like family base, which was, like, I said, it's like, a huge change for me because I'm used to just being like, okay, I'm ready to go out. Like, but I love it. Like, I love it. I love him. And like, his kids, they're just so cute. So, yeah, it's lifestyle change beyond just.
Bobby
Like, you moving in with a boyfriend.
Amy
Yeah, there's a lot with that, but I'm almost ready for it. Almost. I was just like, let me get through the craziness of the holidays because I'm already feeling overwhelmed with everything. And after that, we'll seriously think about it, because he's like, I'm going to, like, be there and help you do all this. You know, it's not like you're just, like, on your own trying to figure everything out. Like, I'm going to be there with you to make it easy. And we're like a team and so. Which is awesome.
Bobby
It sounds like he's been, like, great about the whole process, but also completely understandable that you need some time to, in a way, like, mourn your old life that you're kind of leaving behind to go into this new one, which is one that you want. It's exciting. It's. It is what you want, but you're having to, like, kind of shed the old layers and, like, say goodbye and tap into this new version of what your life is about to be.
Amy
Yeah, but it is exciting.
Bobby
It's exciting and scary. It's both.
Amy
Yeah, it really is. Ah. It's crazy. It's. It's weird, so.
Bobby
But none of those feel. It just, you know, all those feelings are normal.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
I wish, you know that.
Amy
Okay. I know I am always thinking this. I'm like, it is just crazy how a year, it could change, like, in a year. And I know, you know, other people that may seem like a long time, like, maybe you move in sooner, maybe you wait. But I'm just like, for me, it's crazy that in a year something like that could change.
Bobby
Yeah. So much. Like, so much of your life is changing.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
But again, all in the best way. And sometimes I'm pretty sure Bobby's the one who says this. The. The things that are most exciting often make you feel the most scared. So it makes sense that this is how you're feeling because this feels right. This is what you want. You just are like, okay, you might have to, like, pry this from my dead hands because. Right. And I don't. I personally can't. I have not been in your position, so I don't know. These are all just me assumptions based on how I know you, but also that I think naturally, it gets really hard when you've cultivated your own life and you've created things for yourself. Because you stopped waiting. You stopped waiting for what was to come and just, like, started existing and loving what you had. And you've done that so well that I could see how that would be really hard to just say, okay, I guess. Bye.
Amy
You know, it is, I think any change, like, even with a job. I remember before I started here, I was, like, terrified because I was so. I had my last job for Five years. And I was just so set in my ways. My lifestyle of that job and then going here, it's like, complete opposite. Like, work hours and everything. I was so scared. But it ended up being one of the best things ever, you know? So it's like, I think you just can't be, like, scared to jump. Just make the jump. And that's where I am right now. Like, I'm on top of that. I'm on top of the whatever. About to jump.
Bobby
Yeah, you are. You're on your Hollywood sign right now, and you're ready to jump off.
Amy
I know. It's just crazy. So you will.
Bobby
You will in time. Some people can just leap with no. You know, they can leave with a blindfold on. And others need to see everything and know what's all waiting for them at the bottom. So I think that's okay.
Amy
Thank you. Oh, yeah. That was.
Bobby
Not sure. It helps, though, because I'm sure you're still, like, feeling all of that, and those feelings are different than, like, getting them confirmed, if you will.
Amy
Yeah. No, but that was a good little therapy session, so thank you.
Bobby
I'm excited for you. I'm excited for what's to come in your next chapter. I think 2025 is going to be really fun for you.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
Which, speaking of, what was your favorite part of 2024?
Amy
Oh, my gosh. I would honestly say, like, meeting my boyfriend. Like, I remember before him, I was just not. I don't. I wasn't doing well. Like, I was very lonely a lot, and I was like, I don't know how much more of this I can take. Like, I was just, like, very sad a lot because I was like, I feel like there's something missing out of everything else in my life that I want, like, my job, all these fun things to do, my friends. But there was just something missing that made me feel not, like, complete, but just not so alone. And I feel like he brought that into my life because I was like, I have so much love to give, but there's no. I can't give it to anybody, you know, Like, a lot of my family, yes, I can, but they're also in Kansas, so that's hard, too. And I was like, in Nashville, I just want, like, somebody to love and for them to love me back. And I was like, why can I not find that? And I finally. I feel like I did. And that's why this year, I feel like I wasn't lonely. Like, I learned a lot about, like, myself, and. Yeah. So I think that's it like being able to love somebody? Which is a big thing, because I've never had that. Like, I've never told a guy I love him because it was such a huge deal to me to not just throw it around. And so. And you did.
Bobby
You have told him, right?
Amy
Yes, we did talk about that.
Bobby
I think we have, but I was just confirming.
Amy
Yeah, I. I have. So it's just a lot of, like, getting out of your comfort zone. I think this year you've had a big.
Bobby
You've had a big change in your life, and it's. It's. The hits keep coming.
Amy
I know, I know.
Bobby
In a good way. They're good hits. They're like love taps.
Amy
Yes. It's like a 180 life for. In one year. Like, I just said, like, this time last year, I was just. Well, I met him, like, mid October, so.
Bobby
Yeah, but you were headed into it. You didn't know what was to come, what he would be, what it would look like.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
So crazy.
Amy
Yeah. Okay.
Bobby
That's a really good one. I have another one that I'm.
Amy
I'll.
Bobby
I'll share next week with Scuba because I'm doing it with both, because they're both. We're like end of year times. But, you know, I feel like I have progressed so far professionally this year, which wasn't really on my radar. Not. Not in, like, a way that I was like, okay, this is the year I'm gonna do this, this, and this, and this has to happen, or whatever. I mean, I always feel super driven. You and I both have those qualities. I think that's the. The Wichita Kansan in us or just Kansan. We're super hard workers and just really driven. So that was never. Not there. But this year, for some reason, just feels like it was a catalyst to something else that's coming. And I don't know what that is. I have zero clue. But launching my podcast and doing a lot of work trips and just trying new things, taking whatever opportunity comes, and especially, like, when I went through the breakup and being like, oh, this is what I thought was gonna be, like, my new life. And then it wasn't. And then it was like the universe, literally directed was like, no, actually, you gotta focus on this because something's coming. It's kind of what it felt like after that all happened. So 2024 was like, a huge year of growth for me professionally.
Amy
I love that. And I can. I mean, I could see it too, for sure.
Bobby
Thank you.
Amy
Like, and you can tell, like, you're passionate about what you do, and you love it. And that's. I feel like you are, like, on your right path, and everything does happen for a reason, obviously. And, I mean, sometimes even me, like, I'm like, oh, having a boyfriend, like, it's hard to go out of town and, you know, do other things or whatever. But it's like, you. You just, like, full on, took it, like, let's go, like, travel everywhere and.
Bobby
Yeah, I think sending it this year, for sure.
Amy
Yeah. Which I agree. I think it is, like, something in the future, whatever it may be, like, this leads to it. Yeah.
Bobby
And that's what I'm, like, hopeful for. And I have, like, you know, I have no intentions of ever leaving the show. I love this job. This. All these other things are just really things I'm passionate about. I love traveling. I love having honest conversations. You guys have heard it on Best Bits. We have therapy sessions. Just kind of like what we had and evolving. Just all of those different skills. So it has been just an interesting year in a lot of ways that I just didn't see a lot of things coming and how impactful they were gonna be. So I think that was my favorite part of 2024 this year. I have others, but I'll share that other one with Scuba, but. So if you have another one, you can share it too.
Amy
Do I have another one? That's okay.
Bobby
If you just had that one too.
Amy
I feel like that's it.
Bobby
Okay.
Amy
That's all right. Yeah. Cause I put my singing and stuff. Well, the thing is, he pushes me to try to write, like, play guitar more, and I'm the one that's just, like, I don't really want to right now. I don't know what it is. Okay.
Bobby
Like, but also, you've had a crazy year. Speaking of, like, professionally, you've taken on a lot of things. This year in particular. Maybe it was towards the end of last year that weren't a part of what you were doing originally. And so that being said, you do like this job, and you do love doing this, right?
Amy
No, for sure, yeah.
Bobby
Yeah. And. And you do love that. But, like, this. This is like, your job for. For survival that you're also passionate about. And so it's taken more of your attention versus your music career, which is something you really want and you're passionate about. But, like, this took the front seat. I feel like this year.
Amy
Yeah, I feel like a big thing also is just, like, balancing. Trying to balance, because I want to be, like, the best I can be at Everything, no matter what I do. And so I. Obviously, I put this job first, and then I also. My relationships in the past, I was, like, working all the time and kind of putting relationships on the back burner and probably wasn't giving them, like, the most attention, or I'd be like, I have to work. And they're just like, oh, my gosh, you always have to work. You know, And I do a lot of events because I was single, and I was like, I can do this now. But now that I have something that, you know, I really care about, it's important for me to also make sure he knows he's important and that he's on the front. Like, not on the back burner, too, because guys have made me feel like that in the past. Like, I'm on the back burner, and that's a terrible feeling. And I was like, I don't want to do that to somebody else. So I think there's not enough time in the day for me to do this, to be writing, playing guitar, singing out, trying to be there with him. Like, there's just a lot. So I'm trying to, like, prioritize and create balance, and I think that's something I want to work on, like, next year, too. It's like, just create balance.
Bobby
Yeah. And I think, you know, as you guys do start to live together, that's definitely going to be a. A very major part of your 2025 is, like, how do I do all this? How do I fit it all in? And. And again, how do I make me fit in this new world? Like, what does that look like?
Amy
Yes.
Bobby
Or like, how do I adjust to this new world? You know, however. However it sounds. But I. I think you can, and you will, and you'll find ways to do things that you never thought possible. Like, if there's anything that I've realized this year is that I am capable of so many things that I didn't think I could. You know, like when I'm staying up at midnight and I'm editing my podcast, and I'm like, oh, my gosh, I. I need sleep. I'm so tired. I need. You know, and I'm drained. But then I put it out, and I get the feedback. I'm like, okay, it's worth it. Pushing. Like, just keep doing it.
Amy
It's worth it.
Bobby
So you will. You're going to be exhausted. Your next year is going to be as amazing as it is also exhausting when you transition. I know, but, like, that just means take the naps. While you can. When you go home, make sure you take a few naps.
Amy
Yes.
Bobby
Enjoy some relaxation before this big beginning starts and you'll find time. Even if it's heck. If you're hanging out with his kids and you're sitting there writing songs and they're doing stuff, you know, you will find the time. I think right now it just feels very daunting and very overwhelming.
Amy
Yeah, it's just a lot, it is a lot. Like just trying to figure out how to do it all, I guess.
Bobby
Oh yeah. They don't listen, they don't teach you in high school. Like, hey, by the way, you're going to have to balance a social life, having kids, having a relationship, also going to a full time career, knowing how to keep up with your entire adult responsibilities of your home, if you choose to have animals. Also that. Also keeping yourself mentally healthy. Oh, physically healthy as well. Cooking, eating food, surviving, doing your finances. Like, we learn none of that.
Amy
Where was that class?
Bobby
You don't learn any of it, but you also don't learn that like the requirement to do all these things and balances is literally inhuman. Like there is not a person, unless we really have a legit superman on this planet that could do all of those things and do them all, well, all the time.
Amy
But I think we feel like we have to. Yeah, we're like, everybody else is doing it. Why can't we? It's just everybody thinks that everybody's doing.
Bobby
I was gonna say, but that's the key is nobody else.
Amy
I know. We think they are though. We're like, oh, how do I do that? They are.
Bobby
But it's like, it's just like with me this year, like my, my profession became the, the big spot. That was the focus. And all of my friends that were getting married and my sister getting married, like, those were my like priorities this year and everything else kind of took a back burner, you know. And next year the same thing will happen. It'll probably shift. It'll be a different thing. That's life. That's like how it's actually supposed to work. Because that's how you balance. It doesn't mean you're being bad at the other things. It means you're still doing them and utilizing them. It's just not your center focus. Because you can't have a center focus that has 10 different things.
Amy
Exactly. Yeah, you can't. Or you're going to be giving each of those like 10% and you will.
Bobby
Literally end up in a hospital.
Amy
Yeah, I know.
Bobby
You can't survive that way. We weren't meant to survive that way. We aren't even meant to survive what we're doing right now, but somehow we're managing.
Amy
Yeah. How are we doing this? I'm just kidding.
Bobby
No, you know what I mean, though. Like, once upon a time, people were living off the land. There was no kinds of things that we did. They were naturally physically healthy, mentally healthy. They didn't have the. The things that we have. They would cook easily. Like, there was community all the time. Things have evolved and changed. So which means we have to kind of forcibly evolve and change them back if we want to feel good again.
Amy
Isn't that crazy to think about how it's just kind of like, in waves, like, so I feel like last year I focused more on my job and, like, singing, and I released, like, well, I guess, hey, their hometown. That was like, two years ago, but. And then this year, I just felt like it was more like my personal life and kind of like my health, like, mental health and getting better and like, doing the brain things that I'm doing to get myself on track. Because I was started to feel like crazy. Like, I was just like, I don't feel like myself. I don't know. And I'm trying to kind of get more, like, on a healthy path so that I can be better in, like, 2025. Like, I haven't been on social media much. Wait, posted much.
Bobby
Okay, hold on. Take a pause. We're gonna take a break real quick. I'm coming right back to that.
Amy
Okay.

Bobby
Okay, you haven't been on social media much and you've been focused on mental health and stuff. Walk me through that a little bit more.
Amy
I don't know, I just feel like with social media when I post I would get so just like caught up in people's feedback and like the positive and the negative and just worrying about what people think of my life. And I'm like, that's my life. You know, like, even though I am a little bit upset because, like, I take so many pictures and I've had so many good things happen this year, but I've posted. I think I posted, like, five times total. And I'm like, you are so good at posting. And I'm always like, why can't I be like Morgan? Like, cause you're so good.
Bobby
In all fairness, it is my job, so I bet I better be good at that.
Amy
It is true, but I just struggle with, like, just even captions and stuff. Like, I just overthink everything.
Bobby
I'm sorry, Abbie. Have you seen some of the captions I post sometimes? Like, especially if I do, like, eight videos in one day, at some point, somebody's probably reading. I'm like, is she even saying. Or like, I'll make a caption on the Bobby Bones show one. And people are like, what does that even mean? And I was like, guys, I'm trying to be cool.
Amy
You're doing a lot. Trying to keep up with the times.
Bobby
Yeah. So I promise it's not. It looks like I probably posed a lot. I do a lot of things, and I do. But also, like, I struggle to come up with captions all the time.
Amy
Oh, my gosh. But, like, going back to, like, the brain thing, I mean, Amy's the one that told me about it, and I was just feeling so. Like, just clouded. Like, I couldn't think of things. Like, easy trivia is easy trivia is a great example. I just can't pull things out of my brain. It's like, what color is the sun? And I'm just like. Like, I don't know what it was. And she basically, it's like neurofeedback. And she was like, I bet every traumatic experience in your life is kind of like a pothole in your brain.
Bobby
Okay.
Amy
You know? And, like, even grief, like, losing a family member, just anything. And it kind of gets your. Your brainwaves are supposed to go one way. Like, and when you have trauma, it starts going all different directions, and you can't think clearly and you can't think, like, more efficiently. You can't think as if, hey, here we go now.
Bobby
I'm like, no, it's okay.
Amy
But when she, like, stimulates the different parts of your brain, like, I can tell it has been, like, helping me think more clearly and cool. Like, even athletes do it. And, like, it even helps songwriters like, write better and think better. And so I feel like that's kind of been helping me. So that was something I've been doing, like, for my mental health. I'm trying to sleep more because I was not getting a lot of sleep. I mean, there's still nights that I. I don't get enough. Like, a few days ago, I got, like, three hours.
Bobby
And were you, like, in bed or were you doing stuff?
Amy
And that's why a lot of it is, like, work. It's just, like, we're so busy, like, leading up to the holidays especially, like, we're just trying to get everything in. Like, I'm doing podcast stuff, and sometimes I can't fall asleep even when I'm laying in bed. So it's just a lot of that. So just trying to, I don't know, be more healthy, eat better, get more sleep.
Bobby
Well, and it is, like. Right. Like, that's the biggest thing, because if you aren't healthy physically, mentally, everything, then everything else can't operate to any optimal place that it needs to be. You have to be functioning on that level. So. But again, that's hard to do because you have to go to appointments, like, for different things, for whatever you may need, and you have to eat healthy foods and you have to work out, and all that takes time and effort and money, all of which things are very scarce and, like, hard to find. You know what I mean? Like, so it is. It is super tough, but also cool that you've found a way to start to focus on it and found that it's important for you to focus on. Not everybody will. Everybody's like, no, it's fine. I'm going to keep operating this for the rest of my life.
Amy
Yeah. But I feel like this is, like, perfect timing. It's like the new year, and this is when now is the time to, like, be motivated to, you know, have a good new year.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
And set goals for yourself. No, I still need to do that. That's what I need.
Bobby
Are you gonna set a resolution or anything?
Amy
Yeah, I feel like I should. Like, I want to do more goals that you can. They're attainable. I think that sometimes when we do things like that at the beginning of the year, we just say, oh, we want to do this. Get more sleep. But it's like, you have to make it, like, more specific. Like, oh, focus on going to bed an hour before you usually do, or something like that to make it where it's. It's possible to do.
Bobby
Yeah, no, that's definitely true. And the resolution. Sometimes we go a little overboard where we're like, I'm gonna do it for the entire year. And then, like, can you imagine actually attaining something for an entire year?
Amy
Yeah. So it's like, baby steps.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
Like, even my boyfriend and I, instead of dry January, because we tried last year and failed after, like, day 12. So. So now we are gonna do it in January, where you pick one day a week and you can drink, you know, so it's like, you designate, okay, this week, I'll drink on Friday. And that's when you get to drink, and then it's out of your system.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
So I feel like that's a little better. So it's like, four days out of January that you get to drink instead of, like, depriving yourself and then going crazy in February or giving up and, you know, so just little ways like that.
Bobby
Yeah. And I do think it's like, there's different things like that that I feel like are beneficial for people, but I also feel like sometimes we go too extreme, and that's why we burn ourselves out so quickly on things. And why we. They fail or we don't do them is because we're like, no, you have to do it this way. There's so many different versions. And just because everybody else is doing dry January, you could do a version of that, much like Abby's doing. Also, like, you want to get fit. Cool. Make it your goal to walk 10 minutes a day for a month. See how that works, see how you feel. Maybe then you can up it. Maybe you can go to the gym, whatever. But, like, I think resolutions often. Often guide us in the direction of being, like, this extreme. You have to accomplish this in 2025, and it's your entire goal for the year. Maybe not maybe. Let's do many goals and many, many things that, like, we can actually accomplish, because then it makes us want to accomplish other things.
Amy
Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Because you see. You're like. You see the results because it was attainable.
Bobby
Yep.
Amy
Instead of being like, oh, I want to lose 50 pounds by I don't know, you know, you could just be like, okay, maybe I should start eating healthier and cut this out and replace it with this. Or, you know, all the things. Yeah.
Bobby
Oh, resolutions, man.
Amy
Do you have one?
Bobby
No, like I said, I don't. I don't have any plans, really, to. To have any. I mean, I don't know. I've. I've just, like, we're talking about. I don't really have the time to, like, sit. Just sit down and be like, let me focus on this. Could I make the time? Yes. Do I have the desire to. I don't think so. Because I'm like, as my. My entire goal in life, always, forever, every year, will be, be a good person. Like, genuinely be a good person. And everything that you do, if you do that, you're winning. Like, that's always been my goal.
Amy
I love that. Yeah. I love. Like, that's so easy, but it's so hard for so many people. It is a good person.
Bobby
It's also hard for me when I'm having a really bad day and I really want to get home or I want to, you know, like. And have the patience. Like, I saw this thing the other day that was. When you are mad at somebody on the road, think of the fact that they're probably transporting a birthday cake in the backseat, and they really want to get it to where it needs to go. And it just, like, there's, like, moments where you read things, see things that just kind of shift your perspective a little bit. And it just reminded me, like, okay, I have to. Even in my chaos, even when my life is insanely busy, I am drained. I'm exhausted. I have to slow down, and I just have to, like, continue to be a good person because everything else doesn't matter. The only thing that matters. It's genuinely the only thing that matters.
Amy
Right. That's crazy you brought that up. Because that happened to me, like, last week. I was having, like, the worst day, and I was just like, no one knows what I'm going through. Like, no one knows. And I'm like, wait, someone else. Because I have, like, major road rage. And that's how I.
Bobby
It's understandable. In a city of Nashville.
Amy
Yes. And so I had that thought. Like, I was like, the whole day, Abby, just, like, don't get mad at people because they could be having a day just like you. Like, just give them, like, some grace. Because they honestly could be having the worst day of their life, too. You have no idea. Maybe they're not thinking clearly because they were just given bad news or something. So that's crazy. Yeah. And it worked because I was like, oh, my gosh. It taught me to just, like, slow down and be like, okay, it's all good. Like, you don't have to get mad at anybody. It's not. It's stupid.
Bobby
It's really hard to do that when you're having a really bad day. Especially, like, I have had multiple days this year where it's been a when it rains, it pours situation. And I'm like, okay, I really can't take anymore. Somebody's gonna. I'm gonna turn into a volcano. And yet I managed not to because I just kept being like, okay, patience, like you, like, you can't do anything about this. It was also my, my thing that I also try and always keep in my brain is if you can't do anything about it in five minutes, you can't change anything. You can't. Whatever. Somebody messages to me about talking about, like, people, like, if they can't change something about their appearance in five minutes, don't say anything. And so it's kind of that same rule of like, if, if this is not going to matter five days from now, five months from now, five years from now, do not spend more than five minutes on it. And most things, they don't even last in that five day category. I know there are, there are some, and they will last years and they will last months or whatever, but most things in life will not even make it to the five day threshold. And that also takes me back to that same level of just like, okay, this isn't going to matter in the capacity that's mattering to me right now in this moment. I just have to take a step back, remind myself to be a good person despite that this is happening and try and move through it. Like, but that's so, so hard to do.
Amy
It is. Especially on, like, the rain. When it rains, it pours days. You're like, oh my gosh, what else? Yeah, like what? And then it just kind of amplifies your thoughts. Yeah.
Bobby
When you want, you want to be mad at the world, you want to take it out on somebody because why is it happening to you? Like, that's, that's human nature to feel angry and upset when things like that are happening.
Amy
Right. But, you know, that's why I need to get my boxing membership back or actually go.
Bobby
You mean the boxing membership that you paid for for months that you never use?
Amy
I cannot believe that you watched me, you watched me go up there. I was like, I'm gonna get a guest pass for the day. And then you're like, wait, what are you doing? I'm like, I'm signing up for, like, unlimited.
Bobby
I was like, abby, you haven't even been. Why don't you just like, I, I mean, I get it. Like the commitment of like doing a month. Cool. Yeah. You took, you went six months.
Amy
I know, that's the perfect example where I was like, okay, we're gonna just go big. But then I didn't. Because I didn't just be like, no.
Bobby
Okay. If you're gonna send it, you have to fully commit.
Amy
I know.
Bobby
Like, yeah, I love a send it situation. Send it on, but do not have to commit in a send it situation. And you did.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
In that moment, you did.
Amy
Buying the membership and not going, that's not helping you in any way. Like, maybe it made me feel better for having that membership, but I didn't go, oh, my gosh.
Bobby
So if you do go back, please, for the love of all that is holy, do it for one month. Okay. If you do do a membership, just unless, like, the next five months are free or something.
Abby
Fine.
Amy
Exactly. Like, please, never again.
Bobby
And anything you do with these resolutions. Okay, yeah. You want to send it, fully commit.
Amy
Baby steps. I like the baby steps better.
Bobby
Baby steps are good. So let's focus on that.
Amy
No more.
Bobby
No more fully sent memberships at random places.
Amy
Yikes. I know. So bad. Oh.
Bobby
Anything else you want to add before we get out of here?
Amy
I don't think so. Hopefully this is, like, positive and not being like, oh, my gosh, I'm so unsure in my life. There was one little. I think the moving in was me, maybe that sounded. I think this was.
Bobby
This was life.
Amy
Yeah, it is. It's.
Bobby
It is not unicorns and rainbows. And we're also coming off the holiday season, which is going to be a mix for a lot of people. Right. You're going to have people coming off of it who are incredibly excited, had the best time ever, and they're recharged, rejuvenated, ready to go. You have a whole lot of other people who are like, that was the worst time ever. I'm so ready for this to be done. Take me home. And I don't want to see anybody. I'm going to hibernate for months, you know?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
So I think it's going to go both ways with people listening to this. I hope more people than not are on this front side of that, that feel relaxed and ready to. To take on life and had a great time, whatever you did the holiday season. But I think most of us are probably feeling the same way that you and I are mutually feeling in a lot of different ways of our lives right now.
Amy
I mean, holidays are hard, like, for, like, personally for me, because it's like, I go home and my brother's not there, you know, and like, that's. He always sits on. Used to sit on the fireplace when we would open presents, like, with my whole family. And so, like, no one sits there now. Like, we put a plant there, and it's just, like. It's like a constant reminder that he's not there. And like, my grandpa, he always had a Christmas party, and he's no longer here. So it's just, like, you go back to your hometown wanting things to be how they were. Like, when you were a kid growing up, and you want that to be, and it is no longer, and you realize the change. So I think a lot of that is for a lot of people, that could be hard, too. You know, like, going back, and if you used to have good times and now times are hard, you. You wish that was still it. But I just think you have to, like, create your own memories and just look back at that and be like, that was a good time, and there's still good times ahead.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
You know, there's still room to make other amazing memories and meet new people. And even if it's not great this year, like, you can have a great year next year, you know, we're not always gonna have amazing everything. Like you said, it's not always gonna.
Bobby
Be unicorns and rainbows.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
So sometimes it will be.
Amy
Mm.
Bobby
Well, I think that's really good for a lot of people to hear, because I. I do guarantee that a lot of people are feeling in similar capacity to you in that way. And. Yeah. I mean, this is the. The first year without both of my grandparents here, and we had just. I believe this is the first year. Gosh, Time is. I. It is a time warp that I don't understand, and timing messes with my brain back to me needing to go to where you go. But I understand that side of things. And also, I will be here if you not here in Nashville. I'll be here in our. Both of our hometown if you want to go play pickleball if things get a little hard. And also, you just have a different season happening right now, and you're like, I need to do something that is not in this vicinity. I'm there.
Amy
Oh, thank you. You too.
Bobby
Thank you.
Amy
I really am. You can come to my side, though.
Bobby
Well, technically, for playing pickleball, I have to.
Amy
You do. And you're going to love it.
Bobby
I will. Because I love you. I just. You know, you little bougie East Siders.
Amy
That's where it's at.
Bobby
Well, tell the people where they can.
Amy
Find you all that good stuff on Instagram. Abby Lee Anderson.
Bobby
There she is.
Amy
Yeah, that's it. That's about it. That's where I'm most active on social media, my Instagram, Even though I'm not even that active.
Bobby
But your five year posts, Your five times a year posts.
Amy
Yeah, I do stories, so I guess you can look at my stories.
Bobby
I haven't seen a story from you in a hot minute. Besides reposting the questions for best bits.
Amy
Oh, that's true. Yeah. And the radio thon. Yeah, reposting. But, ooh. See, just took a little hiatus. Well, I got, like, work done on my face, so it was a huge puff ball. I got this laser. Yeah, it looks really good.
Bobby
Your face looks beautiful right now.
Amy
Thank you.
Bobby
Do you have any makeup on?
Amy
A little bit. Like a little. Just like a powder. Oh, I got it at Dr. Lucky's office. I love that.
Bobby
Nice.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
So that was amazing.
Amy
That's why I kind of get away. So it's called bbl and then the other one is Halo. It's like the. But then you got a but broadband laser. I know when she said that I.
Bobby
Was called bbl because BBL definitely means but.
Amy
I know when I went in, she was like, you're getting bbl? I'm like, no. Well, I mean, I want to, but no. Just kidding.
Bobby
I mean, this is so much love, Abby. If you got a bbl, everybody would know. Like, you are so little. Everyone would.
Amy
They absolutely would know.
Bobby
And I'm not like, specifically talking about your.
Amy
But that's weird.
Bobby
Like, you're just like a tiny human being. And if you get a pbl, even if you did, like, the tiniest injection, people would know.
Amy
Oh, my gosh. They so would. Not that.
Bobby
That's also a bad thing. If anybody knows what it's mean.
Amy
That would not be a subtle anything.
Bobby
No, it wouldn't. You couldn't keep that secret.
Amy
No. Oh, my gosh. So, yeah, I didn't get that. Maybe next year. I'm just kidding. But okay.
Bobby
I need. I need to go look into this. Yeah. Your skin looks amazing.
Amy
Yeah, I mean, it's. It's very intense. Because I could not. Like, I couldn't be at work for it. It was during. Thanks. Cause I knew Lunchbox would just, like, never stop. It was really bad. Yeah, Like, I looked like a chipmunk. I was just like, my face.
Bobby
How long does it take for you to finally be back to normal?
Amy
Well, it was like five days that it was like that. Oh, yeah, it was really bad.
Bobby
So that. That was why you had the social media break also?
Amy
Yes, that actually is. Yeah. I was going to document it, but it was way too. I'm going to do it now, but it was way too bad.
Bobby
So that's funny. Okay, well, I'm glad. You look beautiful.
Amy

No Making smarter financial moves today secures a financial freedom for a successful tomorrow. In my family, one of the biggest points of contention was finances. And I know as I gotten older, I made it a promise to myself to say, I don't want to relive that you know, hiring somebody to do credit repair for me. That was a gift that I gave myself that allowed me to then get my first apartment, then eventually buy my own home. Like these are all things that are possible. Like a good neighbor.
