Almtz from How to Money and we are all about comparing prices to save money on so many things in life. So why wouldn't you compare prices for your next ride share? Taking a few seconds to check Lyft can save you real money on your next ride. And I did this last time I caught a ride home from the air airport after some travel and guess who came out on top? Lyft. So don't just price check with flights and phone plans and your groceries. Comparing ride share prices will help you to save money every time you ride. Save money.
Bobby Bones
Check Lyft. Hey everybody. Welcome to another bobbycast. We have many things to talk about including the greatest celebrity weddings of our lifetime and how we've really not cared about any of them. Also Amazon Prime Day and how they trick us your fall for that crap all the time. I got the whole list of tricks so we got that coming up, we may dabble into some Nate brigazzi at UFC in that drama. You know that drama?
Mike
No, I mean, I know he was there, but I don't know.
Bobby Bones
The drama, you know, drama is good.
Road Crew Member
Crazy.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so we got a big show. Glad everybody's here. Let's get started first with. As we record this. We're recording this on Friday the 26th, so you won't see this until a day or so. So Amazon prime days will be over by the time people see this.
Mike
Yeah, yeah. Great deals, by the way. Great deals.
Bobby Bones
You are. That.
Mike
You're.
Road Crew Member
That.
Bobby Bones
You're exactly what? And sometimes I'll buy stuff from Amazon prime, dude.
Mike
My wife is that.
Bobby Bones
But days, though. Prime days. Does she like prime days?
Mike
Yeah, all of it.
Bobby Bones
This year it was four days. This is not a commercial because I'm going to actually share with you the tactics they use not to trick us, but to lead us in a direction. And this could be used probably in a lot of different places, but because we're in the middle of this. Oh, and it does look so appealing. You log on and you're like, you don't even need a spatula. And you're like, oh, no, you get nine right now.
Mike
But today's the perfect day to get one.
Bobby Bones
Number one. The countdown clocks they put on.
Mike
Oh, yeah. Stresses you out.
Bobby Bones
And it makes us feel a sense of urgency because we feel like we're going to be missing out if we don't get in the clock. And also, not only will we be missing out, we'll be not saving money if we don't get in the clock.
Mike
Correct.
Bobby Bones
So we see that. And basically it makes us feel like. Kiefer Sutherland, 24. Like the bomb's going to blow up.
Mike
Because most of the time, people, when you're shopping for something. Let me think about it. Especially if it's a bigger purchase.
Bobby Bones
Put it in the cart, maybe come back.
Mike
Yes. I'll think about it a little bit. Talk to my wife about it. See if we really need this. No, you only have a certain amount
Bobby Bones
of time to get the clock. You gotta go. That's number one. Number two, lightning deals.
Mike
Oh, gosh.
Bobby Bones
Because that means limited quality, quantity, and limited time.
Mike
Yep.
Bobby Bones
So the lightning deals happen, and so your brain's basically going, all right, if I don't buy it now, I may never get this price again. This has lightning. And lightning doesn't strike twice, not in the same place. So they hit you with that lightning deal. There's a thing they do where they do a percentage the one that I saw was only 8% claimed. Now, that is not one that makes you jump. But what they do is they show a bar.
Mike
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
And so it can be 93% claimed with only 7% left.
Mike
So I never understood what that meant.
Bobby Bones
Well, there's only 7% left of the 100%.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
It'd be the same. Sometimes you'll go and it'll say, only four left.
Mike
That's the one that's like. It's clear as day. Especially when there's only one left. I'm not risking this.
Bobby Bones
So it's that tactic.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
They just do a bar. The problem with the bar is they can. They can be honest. Let's say they're doing 96% gone. Only 4% left. But there's a million of them.
Road Crew Member
You don't know that.
Bobby Bones
That 4% is that many thousands.
Mike
You're right. You're right.
Bobby Bones
I did get got on an ebay thing where they said only two left. And so I jumped. And they were telling the truth. I don't know if they were telling the truth, but it felt like they were telling the truth. But it did make me buy something on ebay.
Mike
What'd you get?
Bobby Bones
I can't say because I bought it for my wife for our anniversary. It's coming up.
Mike
Okay, fair enough.
Bobby Bones
But it was legit.
Mike
Okay. And there was only two left, so I'm glad you got it.
Bobby Bones
Our anniversary is July 17, and it's the 26th. This is about right time for me to start thinking about a gift. Maybe a little late. Do you think about anniversary gifts ahead of time?
Mike
No, my wife and I kind of stuck. Stopped giving each other anniversary gifts a long time ago. We just do something special for each other that day. Like we either go out to eat somewhere or we get a babysitter for the kids and we just, you know, spend time together or we watch our wedding video, stuff like that.
Bobby Bones
That's probably the difference in me. Five year anniversary.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And you 20.
Mike
We just had our 20.
Bobby Bones
That's crazy.
Mike
Oh, my gosh. No. We're about to be 21 in September.
Bobby Bones
Okay, but that's. You just had your 20.
Mike
I know, but I. But I feel like now I'm looking forward. I'm looking up to my 20. My 21st more than. I just had my 20.
Bobby Bones
Your anniversary coming up can buy beer.
Mike
Yes. As an adult. Like a straight up adult.
Bobby Bones
Another thing they do, since new deals are appearing every minute. It's constant dopamine hits. So there could be deals that they had at 2pm they pulled it back. They put it back on at 5, mostly for that refresh feeling where that dopamine hits. It's like pulling a lever on a slot machine.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like they got. You just keep checking for something and if you know those deals are popping up, you just keep checking to see what's up there. Now what's up there now next up, cross selling.
Mike
I don't know what that is.
Bobby Bones
You buy a tv, right?
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Largely you buy this tv, great selection. Other people are buying this because they love it. A sound bar.
Mike
Oh, sound bars are great.
Bobby Bones
And it's Amazon prime day, so they're cheaper. And 96% are gone.
Mike
Right.
There's only two left.
Bobby Bones
No, there's not amount streaming device to go with it. Warranty, so. Got it. Not only are they cross selling, but they're cross selling during prime day, which makes you feel like if I'm going to need that stuff anyway, I might as well get it now because it's in the middle of prime day.
Mike
Gosh, dude, I fall for that so many times. Where? Like, I just bought something. Like, I just bought. Like I bought. What do you call it? A stainless steel skillet. Well, now I need a cover for it. Now I need to buy the COVID They don't sell that together. You gotta buy them separately.
Bobby Bones
I don't know anything about skillets. Do you really need a cover?
Mike
I mean, it is for certain things that you cook. You mean one of those things you
Bobby Bones
put a handle on top of it.
Mike
Oh, a lid.
A lid.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, a lid.
Mike
Is that not a cover?
Bobby Bones
I was thinking like a rubber cover or something. Or like a hat box.
Mike
Okay. That's another one, though.
Bobby Bones
If you're at the airport, your skillet box, so it doesn't get damaged.
Mike
Yeah, no, another one that happens all the time. Like when I bought my Blackstone or my smoker, the grills or whatever. You have to buy a cover if you're gonna keep it outside. And that one's a real cover.
Bobby Bones
Does it come with it?
Mike
A rain cover? No, doesn't come with it.
Bobby Bones
It should. It's like batteries with electronics.
Mike
Yes.
And it should also come with like the. The. All the utensils, like tongs.
Bobby Bones
Oh, now you're getting crazy.
Mike
Should come with all that.
Bobby Bones
Now you're getting selfish.
Mike
Okay. It's trying to come with the food.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Don't be. Yes, it should come with its own chef. It should come with its own chef to cook it for you. Anchoring, which shows you the list price and the prime day Price.
Mike
Oh, that's the best.
Bobby Bones
So the list price is 399. On this item that I looked up, the prime day price was 249. Now this is where they kind of get you is the list price could have been what it was listed at three months ago. Originally, maybe last month it sold for 269. But the prime day is 249. But because you're comparing it to 399, you're going, what a deal.
Mike
Sneaky.
Bobby Bones
Where it's still a bit of a deal. 20 bucks.
Mike
Sure.
Bobby Bones
But versus the 150 and what they're showing you, which by the way, they're telling the truth.
Mike
Kind of.
Bobby Bones
That was the list price. That's when they listed it.
Mike
It was an older price.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Frequently bought together. You ever get those?
Mike
Yes.
And you know what? Most of the time they're right. They're right. You do have to kind of buy those together.
Bobby Bones
It does make the accessories feel mandatory free shipping. So prime members, because I am one, they already have the shipping included. So it'll say already included, which makes you feel like you're saving money, which you can then spend on something else like some accessories.
Mike
But you've already paid for that shipping by being a member.
Bobby Bones
What gets you in general to is a one click checkout. And that's not even prime day.
Mike
Oh, that's just in general. Yes. Check out. Now
Bobby Bones
eventually it's gonna be just think it.
Mike
And then it's purchased purchases there.
Bobby Bones
Yep. I got a couple more personalized recommendations. Because they know what you searched, what you bought, what you almost bought, what similar people bought. Or they just are knowing what you're looking at and going, okay, we kind of got this guy figured out.
Mike
I think they're doing this cross apps. Right. Cross platform. Like if you search something in Google.
Eddie
Cookies.
Mike
Yes, cookies. If you search something in Facebook, they got you.
Bobby Bones
But also if you're looking for something within it, it knows.
Mike
Yes.
Bobby Bones
The other couple ones here are people bought this today. So you feel like you're part of the ingroup.
Mike
That one never gets to me. Who cares what people are buying?
Bobby Bones
What about the ratings? When they show you the rating?
Mike
That's a big part of my purchase. You want to see the ratings and you want to see the reviews. You know, like, what do you need?
Bobby Bones
Do you need a four out of five stars? You need a four? Three.
Mike
Four.
Road Crew Member
Four.
Mike
Yeah. Out. I would say a four. And then I need to read a little bit about what they're complaining about. I need to read about, like are they Saying that it didn't last very long, the quality was bad. Like the size, that's a big one for me.
Bobby Bones
I just feel like every review is now a bot that's putting up good reviews.
Mike
I know.
Bobby Bones
And I feel like if there are so many, they know not to make them five because we won't believe it. So they got to make it like 4, 8.
Mike
Yes.
Bobby Bones
So those are the tactics. I don't want to say tricks because I don't think there's anything that is not true with all of that. But the tactics during prime day to get you.
Mike
I have a problem with it just because. And maybe it's just business in general. Is there ever any business where like it just is what it is or are they always trying to trick you? Well, like the 299, it's really $300, but let's going to make it 299 to make you think that it's more closer to the $200amount than it is the $300amount.
Bobby Bones
I think there are a couple things. I think in capitalism you're trying to get the most for the least. Just in general, right? I mean we, when I used to do sea walls, we would go in a flat bottom boat, we'd go down the lake, if it's a lake or the river. We go to people's houses, if they had messed up sea walls or any damage at all, knock on the door, hey, we're here. We build seawalls. We love to put a bid. And so it's people putting bids in against each other and you don't put in the bid for what it actually cost. I mean, everything's as high as you can get it. And it's what. So it is what it is, but you're trying to get the most for the least.
Mike
It's just hard because my dad was a great businessman. Great businessman. But he was a liar. Like it was like.
Bobby Bones
But is he lying? I mean, if you're straight lying, that's different. But we would put bids in that were higher than probably what they needed to be, but the person still had to accept it.
Mike
So, man, one time, this carpet, we need a carpet, right? For our house, new carpet. And the carpet salesman came out and he said he brought out all the samples of the carpet that we needed. And then we said, we want this one. How much for this one? He gave us a price and we said, man, we can't do it that high. Can you do it for whatever? $500 cheaper. Let me call my boss. Hey, Tom.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Mike
I got my client here, and I saw on his phone, it looked like this. There was no one on the phone. I know 100%. He wasn't talking to Tom. There was no boss, nothing. And he goes, oh, yeah? You think we should give him that deal? Oh, all right, Tom. I'll do it if you say so. Yeah. My boss says, cool, we'll do it.
Bobby Bones
Do you feel like when you buy a car, when they go back to the office, too? They're just walking back.
Mike
What's up? You good?
Bobby Bones
Chips?
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Okay. And they go back. Yeah, he's gonna give you the mats, but we can't go much lower than $500.
Mike
And then you feel like you won. You're like, wow, we got the mats.
Bobby Bones
Fine line, though, between deception and business. And business. Okay, that's number one. Number two, did Michael Jackson clone himself? Have you guessed seen this story?
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
It is something, though, when you think of Michael Jackson and things that he would do because he was extremely rich or at least thought he was.
Mike
What do you mean?
Bobby Bones
He wasn't depending on what stories you read, because there was really. I don't know if you ever saw. I think it was like a 2020 or Nightline where he was with the reporter and they were walking through this crazy, expensive antique store. They're in, like, Paris, and he's just pointing at stuff. I'll take that. Oh, I want that. And the things were like a million dollars each, Like Faberge eggs. Yeah. So he obviously had a lot of money and a lot of it, too. He might have just been buying stuff on credit, but he bought the Beatles catalog.
Mike
He sure did.
Bobby Bones
And so he had a lot of money. How much did he have when he died? Who knows? But he probably had enough money or enough credit to figure out if he could clone himself.
Mike
Do you think he cloned himself?
Bobby Bones
Well, I was just thinking about being cloned in general as a human. I think having a clone would be amazing if you could be alive while that clone was alive. I have no interest in me cloning myself, for if I die because I'm still dead.
Mike
Yeah, you're not going to.
Bobby Bones
And now some other thing that's me is getting to live the spoil. That's not me, so.
Mike
And he's probably going to be nothing like you. Right. Because, like, what's his brain?
Bobby Bones
Okay, so I had a vet and Dr. Josie. We were talking about this where animals get cloned all the time. She has been a part of dogs that have been cloned, where she's had dogs that Were sick. Or people that come to her and say, hey, I want to clone my dog. And she's like, I don't do that. But these are other people that have done it. Here's how. Go to them. It's $50,000.
Road Crew Member
Wow.
Bobby Bones
They clone your dog.
Mike
Gosh.
Bobby Bones
And you can have the same DNA of the dog. But we or animals were created, but then we live, learn, and survive by our environment.
Mike
Yes.
Bobby Bones
And our experiences. And that's such a massive part of who we are as people, how we act towards things. And those dogs, maybe the original dog was a small dog that got attacked when it was one, and now it's completely scared of other big dogs and acts a certain way. The new dog may not do that. So it's not going to be exactly the same because they didn't live with the same circumstances or environment.
Mike
And I get that. But does it start with the same personality?
Bobby Bones
Because like everyone else, but the personalities develop through environment and experiences.
Mike
Really?
That's interesting because like, my brother and I, I say we had the same upbringing, but our personalities are so different, you know? And like, even my kids, my boys, same upbringing, but personality is so different. The way they do things, the way they think about things. So different.
Bobby Bones
They could also have different friends.
Mike
Right. Influences. Different influences.
Bobby Bones
Also their brains are going to be a bit different, so they're gonna react. Look, I'm not a doctor. I am a doctor, but not in that.
Mike
You are a doctor.
Bobby Bones
But horses get cloned all the time.
Mike
I know, but they don't care about what they're thinking. They just want them to perform, right? Yeah.
Bobby Bones
They want them to run.
Mike
Yeah.
Yeah.
They don't care if the horse is funny or the horse is argumentative.
Bobby Bones
So you can clone animals. I know. For sure. Except I don't really know. But I would bet all my money that there are cloned humans. Because if you're able to clone animals and you don't think in some lab in Russia or China or. Or here in America. I used to think it was just China and Russia doing all the bad stuff. Mostly because the Rocky movies, Right? Mostly because of Rocky and Rambo. I like China and Russia bad.
Mike
They're all bad.
Bobby Bones
We got equal crazy stuff going on because we're trying to win the science
Mike
war and they don't tell us, no, we have no idea what's going on.
Bobby Bones
I would almost guarantee you there are cloned humans out there.
Mike
Oh, my gosh, dude, that's craz.
Bobby Bones
Or cloned humans they've created and then killed to see if they could create a human.
Mike
Do you think? And maybe you know the answer to this, but do you think when they clone humans or animals, are they birthed or are they just.
Bobby Bones
I would assume they are birthed in the way of they're held, like, in a capsule.
Mike
Okay, so artificial womb.
Bobby Bones
Think of, like, the Matrix. Yeah, like an artificial womb type thing.
Mike
Whoa.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Mike
God.
Dude, that is wild.
Bobby Bones
Well, the story is that people think that Michael Jackson tried to clone himself before he died so he could continue living. And I didn't know if you heard that if that had crossed your algorithm at all.
Mike
It hasn't.
Bobby Bones
And partially it crossed mine because I watched the Michael Jackson movie.
Mike
Good point. Yes.
Bobby Bones
But then I just started thinking, I wouldn't want to clone myself if I knew I was dying, because that's not me who's then living.
Mike
Right.
Bobby Bones
I want to clone myself now, healthy, so I have another version of me they can take out the trash while I'm doing this.
Mike
And then you can also train them. Right.
Bobby Bones
Tell me more.
Mike
Like, you can train them to do the things that you are currently doing. Like. All right, this is what I do when I interview clone. So, like, I interview a guest and I see.
Bobby Bones
I wouldn't trust a clone to do the things that I need to do at a high level.
Mike
You need him just to take out the trash?
Bobby Bones
I trust the clone, yes. Yeah. Yeah. Make dinner occasionally. Know how to order. What? I trust the clone to be a really good assistant.
Mike
Okay. Okay.
Bobby Bones
And just, like, show up for me in places when I don't have to do anything.
Mike
But you can just hire someone to do that that doesn't look like people
Bobby Bones
will think it's me.
Mike
Oh, you want the credit?
Yeah.
Do you want people to confuse the clone with you?
Bobby Bones
I don't mind that if it's for the right reasons.
Mike
Yeah. Do you guys dress the same every day?
Bobby Bones
Not every day. I'd probably keep him in a cutoff and short so my wife could always tell because you never know what the clones up to.
Mike
That's true.
Eddie
Have you guys seen Multiplicity?
Bobby Bones
I'm not with Michael Keaton.
Mike
No, Remember that movie?
Bobby Bones
It's a good watch.
Eddie
But he cloned himself four times, and each time he did it, each one got dumber.
Mike
And it's. It's a whole.
Bobby Bones
Like.
Mike
That's realistic. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Michael Jackson cloned his DNA before he died to create a troop of mini Jacksons and perfect to be perfect coffee copies of himself. Scientist Michael Luckman, who learned about the pop star sperm scheme.
Mike
Whoa.
Bobby Bones
That's one thing I'VE never had a sperm scheme. I've schemed at a lot of things.
Mike
But you know what? I like the name.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Sounds also like a metal band, everybody. We're sperm scheme. So that's what's up. So there are possibly Michael Jackson clones.
Mike
I haven't seen that one. But I did see that Michael Jackson is alive in Mexico. Have you seen. Has that crossed your algorithm?
Bobby Bones
No, the guy looks just like him. Yeah, I don't think he's alive.
Mike
Any chance he cloned himself and then had the clone killed? Like dying in his place? Because I also saw that.
Road Crew Member
Oh, that would be.
Bobby Bones
Okay, that's next level.
Mike
I saw that he was $500 million in debt when he died. If he dies but the clone dies, he's clear of that debt. Right. And then he can go live.
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And not only that, in Mexico, all the money that is then made does not go from his death because obviously
Mike
now his estate is skyrocketed. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And they don't owe anything.
Mike
Yeah. And all that debt is gone.
Bobby Bones
You create a clone. Have you seen the videos of after Michael Jackson died with the van? The license plate's different.
Mike
And get out.
Bobby Bones
It's all he gets out of the van.
Mike
I've seen that video.
Bobby Bones
Now that's some crazy conspiracy type stuff.
Mike
But still.
Bobby Bones
But if anybody was going to clone themselves and waste a bunch of money on it, it feels like something Michael Jackson would do.
Mike
Right.
Bobby Bones
Because he was a bizarre fella.
Mike
He was. He was different.
Bobby Bones
Oh, that's a good one. Have you. Is that a movie?
Mike
No. Could be a movie.
That should be a movie, right?
That one.
Bobby Bones
That's good.
Mike
The other good clone movie was they Cloned Tyrone. You seen that on Netflix?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I liked it.
Mike
That was really good.
Bobby Bones
They Cloned Tyrone. That's a good one.
Mike
Is that a comedy?
Bobby Bones
It's.
Mike
No, but it's sci fi action.
Okay. All right.
Bobby Bones
And also, there's like some levity times, Right? If the show's called. The movie's called they Clone Tyrone, it's gonna be kind of. There's gonna be some kind of funny part.
Mike
It's gotta be kind of funny.
Bobby Bones
Mike, have you seen the nun podcast? No, have you?
Mike
No. Are they a bunch of nuns?
Bobby Bones
There are these nuns that do a podcast. They gas each other up so hard. It's awesome.
Mike
Are they old or are they young?
Bobby Bones
They're not old. They're 40s and 50s.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
And clips of it come across my algorithm all the time.
Mike
Oh, yeah, I see it now that I recognize it.
Bobby Bones
Is it called, like Flame or torch or something like that. And the one I was watching yesterday, the two nuns were talking about playing ultimate Frisbee and they build each other up and one of them's like, sister, you're so good at ultimate Frisbee.
Mike
I love that.
Bobby Bones
And the other ones says, I love to play, but you are so good at defense. When we play Frisbee, Sister, it's the most wholesome. You want friends like that.
Mike
And it's also nuns doing a podcast that's really cool.
It's called Dominican Sisters open mic.
Bobby Bones
Maybe, I don't know. Are they Dominican? The ones I. The one I was watching was not Dominican. I can pull it up. They're white.
Mike
No, they are. That's what it is.
Bobby Bones
Oh. Do you know the difference in Difference in a sister and a nun?
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
Nuns stay and pray back at church, basically.
Mike
So they don't leave the church and the sisters. Can Sisters get out?
Bobby Bones
Can I play a tick tock clip, do we think?
Mike
No, I wouldn't.
Bobby Bones
Okay, I'll play it from afar, but. But watch this.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Do you have a favorite game?
Bobby Bones
Do you have a favorite game?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
My all time favorite. This is an outdoor game, but in the summer when we're all home together
Mike
is playing Ultimate Sister.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
And you are so good at ultimate.
Bobby Bones
You're so good at ultimate Frisbee. You're so good, Sister. Is that what it's called, Mike? Yeah.
Mike
Dominican Sisters open mic.
Yeah. Dude, that's awesome.
Bobby Bones
So I've never listened to the full thing by itself, but this clip here has millions and millions of views.
Mike
That's really cool.
Bobby Bones
And they just like tell each other how good they are at stuff. And I'm sure they talk about Jesus. I never saw those clips.
Mike
Yeah.
Yeah, I would think so.
Bobby Bones
At some point I would assume it's the central theme.
Mike
And then once in a while they talk about ultimate Frisbee.
Bobby Bones
Just assuming.
Mike
But did you see. Do you see the nuns at the. Well, they would be sisters, right? Because the nuns wouldn't be at the spurs basketball game.
Bobby Bones
I need to fact check that. But tell me the story.
Mike
No, there are these group of nuns that are just huge spurs fans and they were at every single finals game and they would show them and it was funny. Is I think the first time they showed them on tv, they were in the nosebleeds and they slowly got closer and closer to the floor as the finals went on.
Bobby Bones
While the terms are used interchangeably, technically, nuns live a cloistered life of prayer inside a monastery, while sisters live an active life working out in the community as teachers, nurses, or social workers.
Mike
Okay, so, yeah, it's got to be the sisters that we see in the at the spurs games.
Bobby Bones
I didn't know there was a difference. I just saw.
Mike
I didn't know either.
Bobby Bones
A hat. That's a nun.
Mike
And I love when people are dressed, you know, like you're expecting to be very serious at all times. A nun, a priest, whatever. And then when you see them like that, just talk about normal things. It's so refreshing. That's why I love Sister act, man.
Bobby Bones
Good point.
Mike
Exactly.
Bobby Bones
Good point. Let's take a quick pause for a message from our sponsor.

Bobby Bones
And we're back on the Bobbycast. What do you know about Nate Bragazzi at the UFC fight at the White House?
Mike
Just that he was the there.
Bobby Bones
Mike, will you see if he's posted anything on social media since yesterday?
Mike
No.
What did he do?
Bobby Bones
It's not that he did anything. And so he went. Trump's birthday.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
UFC fight on the lawn.
Mike
Yes. First time ever.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Mike
Great card.
Bobby Bones
I don't know. I'm not a big UFC guy.
Mike
Great card.
Bobby Bones
Most people felt like it was a definitely, we'll say, say, a red event.
Mike
Oh, yeah.
Bobby Bones
If red's conservative. Oh, yeah. Blues liberal. Yes, it was red. And a lot of the celebrities that love UFC didn't go because they didn't want to be tied into the politics of it.
Mike
It makes sense, right? Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So Bogazzi went and took pictures with RFK Jr. Sarah Sanders. Like all of these people.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And then said, well, I didn't know this was going to be political because people were going, I thought you were, like, anti. Like, you didn't really put your hat in either side. And so people were just crushing them.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Mostly because he said, no, I just. Like ufc, this is not political.
Mike
Yeah. That wouldn't have been the fight to go to if you weren't supportive.
Bobby Bones
You're.
Road Crew Member
You.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. You're bonding yourself.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
If you went to a World cup match and you're in the suite with aoc, Pelosi, Obama, and then go, oh, this ain't political. No. No. But you're there with all of them, and you took pictures with all of them. Of course it's going to be what everybody sees and associate. You have to make that decision. It could have been that he thought, I just want to go see a UFC fight, but I think he's smarter than that.
Mike
That's not the fight.
Bobby Bones
You can't take pictures with people.
Mike
Yeah. That's not the fight.
Bobby Bones
So from what I saw, he had not posted on social at all since. And he's active on social media. Mike, anything?
Mike
Looks like he posted yesterday.
Bobby Bones
What was it?
Mike
He did a couple of or a few shows, and he just posted some pictures from it.
And he has a movie that's relatively new, right?
Eddie
Yeah.
Mike
Oh, Mike loves that movie.
I'd say it's at the end of its theatrical run.
Bobby Bones
It did really bad.
Eddie
Yeah.
Mike
I would expect that I thought it
Bobby Bones
was gonna be good.
Mike
Really?
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
He's loved.
Mike
Yeah.
But he's a comedian. I don't know if he's an actor.
Bobby Bones
How was his acting?
Mike
Oh, not good.
That's what I expected.
Oh.
Bobby Bones
I didn't watch it, but I feel like generally he's a pretty beloved guy, so I thought it would do moderately well. And this isn't anything towards him because I like him. I've met him. He's super nice.
Mike
You met him? Yeah. Oh, that's cool.
Bobby Bones
You can't go to something like that and not expect it to become political.
Mike
No, not at all.
Bobby Bones
That was such a partisan thing. Regardless of how you feel about it, if it should be or shouldn't be. That's not the point. That was such a partisan thing. If you go, you avoid any pictures at all.
Mike
Sure. Sit in your seat and watch the fight.
Bobby Bones
And there are so many UFC fights now. If you're Die Hard maga, let her rip.
Mike
Yeah. If that's your thing. Sure. All your people are there in one spot.
Bobby Bones
Yep. But even I felt like, oh, this is a political UFC event.
Mike
Uh huh. Uh huh.
Bobby Bones
So he's been in the news and I'm seeing a lot of tiktoks going after him hard. Because they're going to.
Eddie
Wait.
Bobby Bones
You've always said you're not that or you're not that. He's a really smart guy. I was surprised that he made that decision.
Mike
Would it be better for him if. And we're just doing like, ifs right. I don't know where he leans. He's never really said. Right.
Bobby Bones
But look at everything about him. I'm assuming conservative. Just from where I'm from, what he
Mike
talks about, I'm assuming. Yeah, but is it better, Would it be better for him now to just be like, yeah, I mean, yeah, that's where I lean and I'm friends with these guys.
Bobby Bones
Probably it'd be better than going, oh, I was just going for the event. Because no one believes you because you were going. Because you love ufc.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But you're smart enough to know that this is going to be taken as a partisan event. And it doesn't have to be this event. I just use the World cup analogy. If you're going to the World cup and you're in a suite with all the libs, you take pictures, we would think this is. You're definitely up with the Democrats right there. No, no, no. I love soccer.
Mike
No, you could have sat in a seat somewhere else. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
It was just a. And I Think what got him was RFK's wife from curb youb Enthusiasm. She's the one that posted the first picture.
Mike
That's RFK's wife.
Bobby Bones
RFK Jr. Yeah.
Mike
The.
Bobby Bones
The wife of Larry David.
Mike
The wife of Larry David's wife. That's crazy. I didn't know that. Wow.
Bobby Bones
So, Mikey, you've been following that at all?
Mike
Yeah. I mean, it's the fact that he didn't post himself first. Like, if he just posted. Put it up, that'd be different. And, like, I didn't know this is political, but that he never posted anything, and it was all the other people who took pictures with him. That's how people found out. To me, that says, like, I don't
Bobby Bones
really want to be seen here, and he's very active.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So if you're just going to a
Mike
UFC event because you loved it, you'd be like, hey, look where I am. This is cool.
Bobby Bones
Especially if you're active. Yeah.
Mike
Like, if I went to the Super Bowl, I'd post that. I was at the Super Bowl.
Yeah. Yeah. Because that event would be cool to go to as a UFC fan.
Bobby Bones
It'd be awesome because it's. Are you kidding?
Mike
So once in a lifetime deal. Oh, once in a.
Bobby Bones
At the White House on the lawn.
Mike
Yeah. It's crazy.
Bobby Bones
You said it's a great card.
Mike
Yeah, it's a great card.
Bobby Bones
Iceman fight.
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
Oh, that would be cool for me.
Mike
He doesn't fight.
Bobby Bones
He doesn't fight anymore?
Mike
No, no, he's done.
Bobby Bones
Chuck Liddell's done?
Mike
Yeah, he's done.
Bobby Bones
You're just now telling me he retired?
Mike
Yeah. Sorry, dude. Sorry to break it to you.
Bobby Bones
Oh, well, justice for Nate a little bit, but I'm just surprised because Nate is a brilliant guy that he wouldn't know that that was gonna be the drama or the controversy that came from that.
Mike
Or he knew, and he's just plain dumb. Could he think it's funny he knew?
Bobby Bones
But I'm saying I don't believe he didn't know.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
He's too smart to know that.
Mike
Could he think it's just funny to do that?
Bobby Bones
Not with his brand. Clean, wholesome. So funny.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Never hit your algorithm, huh? That's everybody's conversation with everybody. Did it hit your algorithm?
Mike
No, not yet. Now it will.
It was all mine for a couple of days.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, me too. And it was people going, honestly, too hard. Oh, so hard. It was too hard.
Mike
Dressing up like clowns.
Bobby Bones
I don't really. I don't think he deserved that.
Mike
Oh, man.
Bobby Bones
I was just shocked that he didn't predict that or that somebody in his circle said, hey, dude, I don't think this is the move. Like, with what you've built, I don't think this is the move publicly. Everybody falls somewhere on some side a little or a lot. And when people go, I'm down the middle, they're full of crap. And that's just a safe thing to say. Even I'm not down the middle. However, I know what people consume me for, and I make sure to not make people feel uncomfortable when I talk about. First, I don't talk politics. I talk specific things, like I'll talk gun control, I'll talk gay rights. I'll talk about the things that can fall in the overall arching. But I purposefully don't bond myself to anybody because people don't come to hear me talk about that. They want my opinions on things that have affected me or I have an opinion on or I can be funny about. So that's not what people are coming for. So I've avoided that. I had during the last presidential race, both Canada tried to come on the show. I said no to both of them because I thought, this is not what people want from me. Now, if I decided to go and hang out with Trump or AOC and then take pictures, I'm committing to something by doing that.
Mike
Yes, you are.
Bobby Bones
And so I have decided people don't want that from me right now. And I don't really want to be in that world, in that space, because it's very toxic.
Mike
You know, the weird thing about UFC is that since President Trump and Dana White have become so close, Trump's had a lot of fights.
Bobby Bones
Trump also invested in it.
Mike
I didn't know that he.
Bobby Bones
And you, fact check me on this. He bought stock in TKO before they announced the fights at the White House.
Mike
Oh, really? Come on, that's crazy. Yeah, well, even just not that fight, the White House fight, every other ufc, I mean, I'd say he goes to half of the main. The big events, you know, the numbered fights, not the fight nights.
Bobby Bones
But what if he's at every fight night? Or like, president.
Mike
He's at the apex. He's in the locker rooms with these fighters. But what's weird is that every fighter likes to acknowledge the president when he's there. And I don't know if they, you know, they lean towards.
Bobby Bones
I would think most younger white men just generally are conservative. So, I mean, that's why Trump goes to those in a lot of NBA games.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Because Trump could Be the biggest NBA fan, but he's not going to get cheered in an NBA game.
Mike
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He did good at one right in New York.
Bobby Bones
It wasn't good. Yeah, yeah, it wasn't good.
Eddie
Yeah.
Mike
I just. I don't know.
Bobby Bones
I think that demo and those. That. That leans more red, for sure. And that's why he goes.
Mike
I didn't know the fighters felt pressured just to be like, oh, the president's here. Let me act like I'm a friend of the president.
Bobby Bones
They probably like him. Yeah, I think he's probably 65% positive with men. Mike, what do you see? Did you fact check me on the TKO?
Mike
He purchased some late 2025 and then
Bobby Bones
again in March 2026 and then announced the fight. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a cool event, though.
Mike
It was awesome. Like, it was cool to see it was different. Cause you've never seen. I've never seen anything like that.
Bobby Bones
You're right. It was a little corny at times, but it was cool in that it was so different.
Mike
Yeah. And it's almost like I can do whatever I want.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Mike
I want to fight in my backyard.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I know. I felt like Hunger Games a little bit too.
Mike
Anything I want.
Yeah.
I want UFC fights in my backyard.
Bobby Bones
It does feel like what a 10 year old does.

I want it right there. Right there.

Bobby Bones
welcome back to the Bobbycast. I looked up some cameos this morning. Snoop Dogg if you want a cameo
Mike
from Snoop Dogg, okay, can I guess which?
Bobby Bones
I was a little surprised he was on there.
Mike
Yeah, I feel like Snoop Dogg's got to be up there. I don't think anything. Can you give me, like, what would be the craziest number?
Bobby Bones
No, I'm just not.
Mike
Can't do that.
Bobby Bones
No. I almost don't want you guessing because this is someone's like, let me guess. $10 million?
Mike
Well, I wouldn't even go that high.
Bobby Bones
So then anything I say is lame.
Mike
But it'd be close to a thousand, I would think.
Bobby Bones
Oh, you think so? Yeah, for Snoop to do a video.
Mike
$800.
Bobby Bones
$800 for a snoop Dogg cameo video?
Mike
Personalized video.
Bobby Bones
This morning when I got on cameo, the Snoop dogg video was $5,000.
Mike
Oh, my gosh. That's crazy to me. That screams Snoop Dogg doesn't want to do that.
Bobby Bones
Can't you pay that for a meet and greet and tickets and flight and hotel? Yeah, like, go meet him in person if you're paying $5,000. Because I think all in, you can get that.
Mike
You can touch him, can hang out with them.
Bobby Bones
Man, I couldn't believe it was $5,000.
Mike
That's a lot of money.
Bobby Bones
And then what if he just does a. Yo, what it is, It's Snoop. What up, John? Because there's no guarantee on the quality. You don't know that Snoop's going. Snoop Freestyle and a cameo.
Mike
Let me do a little bit of this.
I'm looking at his average video length. Do you want to know what it is?
Yeah.
27 seconds.
Bobby Bones
No way.
Mike
That's crazy. Yeah. He's literally saying, I'm not doing that crap. But you know what? Charge 5,000 if somebody does it. I'll give him 20 seconds.
Bobby Bones
How many videos do you see that he's done? Or how many reviews are there?
Mike
Let's see.
Bobby Bones
Because $5,000 a video. I can't believe anyone would pay that.
Mike
If you were really rich and it'd be funny. Let's get Bobby a video. Snoop Dogg.
He had at least 181 reviews. He's a 4.9.
You got to be kidding. That's because not everyone leaves reviews.
Hey, we may need to hop on this. It says only eight videos left at this price.
Bobby Bones
Oh, no. Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime.
Mike
Snoop Day.
Bobby Bones
That's crazy. So he roughly has made.
Mike
Oh, my gosh.
Bobby Bones
Can you do the math? Let's just say it's. We'll safely say 200. How about that? Can we do that? Yeah, because how many reviews were there?
Mike
181.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so 200 times 5,000, that's a million dollars.
Mike
Oh, my gosh.
It's that easy, boys.
Bobby Bones
I gotta make sure my math is right. 200 times 5,000. That's great. What if you got a Snoop Dogg cameo from me?
Mike
I'd be like, dude, what are you doing?
Bobby Bones
Exactly right.
Mike
What are you doing?
Bobby Bones
Wouldn't that be more.
Mike
Can we return this?
Yes.
I'm gonna save you five more so
Bobby Bones
than thank you for that. What didn't you say, hey, moron, don't
Mike
do that with your money.
Bobby Bones
You could have paid off my car. Instead you got Snoop saying, what up, fo shizzle for 27 seconds.
Mike
We could have gone on a trip, you and me.
Bobby Bones
So I pulled up some of the other really expensive ones. The three most expensive ones that I saw were snoop for 5,000. This next person was at 2,000. I don't even know who it is.
Mike
Oh, my gosh.
Bobby Bones
Courtney Ann Mitchell. Before you look her up, Courtney Ann Mitchell.
Mike
And I don't want this to be
Bobby Bones
an insult to anybody, because we live in fractured fame world.
Mike
Yes, she's probably really famous.
Bobby Bones
Courtney Ann Mitchell. You can get a cameo from her for $2,000. And if I Google who she is,
Mike
I'm assuming she's an influencer.
Bobby Bones
She was married to Corey Feldman for a while.
Mike
Oh, really?
Bobby Bones
Courtney Ann Mitchell is a former model and professional dj. She's the third wife of actor Corey Feldman. They divorced in 2023. Maybe she's from Germany. She only has 75,000 followers on Instagram.
Mike
Huh.
Bobby Bones
And she's charging two grand a cameo. Would you make sure that's the same person?
Mike
Yeah, that's the same person.
Bobby Bones
There's no way she has anybody buying her cameo.
Mike
Hey, is it kind of like, could you get good publicity if you just signed up for Cameo and did it for $10,000?
Bobby Bones
If so, I've never heard of one of those stories. So is that good publicity?
Mike
I don't know. No, no, it's not until right now,
Bobby Bones
because I've never heard of that.
Mike
Right, well, we should try that. I should join Cameo and be like, producer Eddie. $10,000 a cameo?
She only has 12 reviews.
Bobby Bones
Okay, but even then, she's made $24,000.
Mike
I know, dude. That's crazy. And what's her average length?
10 minutes, 4 minutes and 39 seconds.
That's better. That's better.
Bobby Bones
A while back, I ordered one for my wife. This has been four or five years ago. Brian Bosworth, the boss, I swear he talked seven minutes.
Mike
Do you tell stories? Like, what do you do?
Bobby Bones
He was like, oklahoma, yeah. Play for the Sooners. It's like sitting on his porch.
Mike
I remember this one time he, like,
Bobby Bones
set his phone up on the table and just talked to it, like.
Mike
So that's kind of cool, right?
Bobby Bones
It was way long.
Mike
Or did you want a little shorter?
Bobby Bones
I think a good length of a cameo is probably a minute 15.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
That's a solid length. You're getting a little extra. They put some time into it. Five grand for a Snoop Dogg. That's 27 seconds.
Mike
Terrible.
Bobby Bones
Number three was Kevin O'. Leary. Do you know who that is?
Mike
Yeah, He's a shark. Mr. Wonderful.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. 1500 bucks. That one I can kind of see.
Mike
Yeah, he's pretty famous.
Bobby Bones
He's pretty famous. That's still really expensive. I'm not buying it. But if he were cheaper, I think I'd be embarrassed for him. Because everything about him is supposed to be rich.
Mike
Yeah. And he's supposed to make more money with everything he does.
Bobby Bones
And he shows up on the red carpet with million dollar boxes, sports cards, or Pokemon cards. If he was doing $29 cameos, I would think, Kevin O', Leary, you're not really rich.
Mike
Yeah. Yeah, good point.
Bobby Bones
That this is all a facade. How many do you see that he's done, Mike?
Mike
He has a 4.88 rating with 286 reviews. Pretty good.
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
That's very expensive. But that has to be expensive.
Mike
It has to. He's.
Bobby Bones
If it hurts his brand, if it's
Mike
not, he's Mr. Richie Rich. So I wonder if he gives, like, money advice, too. Like, could you ask. Because I've never bought a cameo. So when you buy them, you give them bullet points. Right. But could you say, like, hey, could you give my friend Eddie some money advice?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, you can write whatever you want. I'd be a little more specific. Cause you have a certain amount of characters, I think. And you can say, hey, this is my friend eddie. It's his 21st anniversary coming up. He's broke.
Mike
How can he make a little more cash?
Bobby Bones
He's got 500 bucks that he wants to invest. Would you mind sharing what you would do with 500 if all you had was 500 bucks?
Mike
That's cool.
Bobby Bones
That'd be the thing.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
The Knicks only won the NBA championship because of Cameo. What do you mean you don't know.
Mike
What do you mean you don't know
Bobby Bones
how the Knicks won the NBA Finals? How the Knicks won all their playoff
Mike
games because of cameo? Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Mike, do you know.
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
Danhausen.
Mike
Tell me more.
Bobby Bones
Do you know who Danhausen is?
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
So Danhausen's a wrestler.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
And Danhausen, who's now basically the unofficial mascot and he was at all the games in New York. He's like a hero there. He lifted the curse on the team because they had a curse for 50 years. And his whole thing is about curses. He did a cameo. They never lost a game, though. Only the one. The New York game when Trump came, the only one. They lost in the all the playoffs. The entire playoffs.
Mike
No way.
Bobby Bones
And so he went on. He did a cameo for somebody to uncurse the Knicks. That thing went viral because they just continued to win. Then the Knicks started embracing him. He was at all the games. Danhausen's the reason that the Knicks won the NBA championship.
Mike
I mean, the fact that they weren't losing games is pretty crazy. And they only lost one. I mean, they were just killing teams all the way to the end.
Bobby Bones
After famously cursing the Knicks, the teams the team stumbled in the open round of the playoffs, leading to a fan paying Danhausen to uncurse them on cameo. The uncurse seemed to work as the Knicks went on an incredible 15 to 1 run, sweeping the Sixers and Cavs before defeating the spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Mike
That's pretty amazing. With a historic comeback too, with a game that they weren't supposed to. They were not supposed to win that game.
Bobby Bones
Mike, you didn't know the Danhausen non. Curse uncursed. So.
Mike
So you said that. Seriously though, like when you first brought it up, like, you're like, oh, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Danhausen broke the curse.
Mike
Cameo. Cameo made the Knicks win. Do you believe in. Be serious. No. Be serious with me.
No.
Bobby Bones
But his.
Mike
When the Cubs won the World Series.
Bobby Bones
And the curses, Billy goat. None of that. Nah, nah, nah. I don't blame curses.
Mike
Okay?
Bobby Bones
But I'm not gonna mess with them just in case I'm wrong. I've been wrong a lot. So I don't believe in curses, but I'm gonna respect it if I see a ladder. Chillin.
Mike
Don't go under that.
Bobby Bones
I'm not gonna go on. Do I think if I walk under the ladder and my life is gonna change in any way? Nope. But just in case, because I have been wrong before.
Mike
What about black cats?
Bobby Bones
I'm not racist. Counting cats. Atta boy. It doesn't matter if it's a black cat. I hope you live a long life. White cat, green cat. You know, I am not feline racist in any way. So if any black cats are watching you, be you, buddy.
Mike
That's a great answer.
Bobby Bones
Hang tight. The Bobby cast will be right back.

Do you ever have.
Bobby Bones
And we'll end on this. Do you ever have any jobs that you almost got that you didn't get?
Mike
I mean, that you can.
Bobby Bones
I was in the office the other day and we had finished an interview with Cole Swindell, who's a country singer. And I rarely leave the studio, but I'm really close to some of Cole's team because they're also Luke Bryan's team and Luke and I are close friends. So I wanted to go out and see Cole's manager because it's Luke's manager. And I walk out and I'm talking to her and there's a guy that works on Cole's team in a different capacity. I don't know if it's management, probably part of management. And he comes up, he says, hey. Introduces himself. I'd met him before, but I don't know if he knew. I knew I'd met him before. I was like, hey, good to see you again. Always my line. But I knew I'd been this guy before. And he said, hey, man, is it good? He goes, you know, I used to work in Atlanta at this radio station. I think it was called Star. I said, oh, yeah?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
He said, back when you were like 25 or something, you applied for a job there and we didn't hire you because he was one of the main people. He said, but we almost hired you.
Mike
We just thought, dang, let's go.
Bobby Bones
We just thought you were too young and you were just a little. I don't know if you used the word maybe. Outrageous. You're just a little outrageous for our brand. And I thought.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Oh.
Bobby Bones
I said. I was pretty heartbroken about that. I didn't get it. I said, I'm looking back, look, I'm glad I didn't get it because my path led me to a completely different way, in a way that was so much bigger than probably if I just went to Atlanta and took that job. He said, but, yeah, we were. It was down to the very end. And it was you or this other person. And we picked this other person because they had more experience. They were like 15 years older than you.
Mike
Wow. And that's the first time you knew that.
Bobby Bones
I never knew that till right then.
Mike
Wow, that's crazy.
Bobby Bones
So I almost got that job. I'm glad I didn't. Wise man once said, because I remember praying, let me have that job, dear Lord.
Mike
Oh, really? And so, so the prayer was what?
Bobby Bones
It was unanswered.
Mike
Oh, wow.
Bobby Bones
But so sometimes looking back, I thank God for unanswered prayers.
Mike
Looking back. Hey, you almost went into another one, though, looking back.
Bobby Bones
So I didn't know that. So I started listing jobs where I almost got hired. Okay. That I did not. I did not get hired for these jobs. These are the ones that I know. So that Atlanta job started. This other almost jobs. I went and I filled in as a guest host on the Talk, which was the CBS version of the View.
Mike
I remember that.
Bobby Bones
Not sure if it's still running, but it went on for a decade. And they had me come in for a week and just co host. And I know when things are going well because they ask more of you. And I was crushing it. And there were no dudes on that show. It was all women, but they were looking to bring in a guy. I was crushing it so hard, I started to think, oh, I might have to move to la and then do our show with me in la.
Mike
Oh, my gosh, that would have been crazy.
Bobby Bones
And I ended up getting a call as I was flying back, hey, they loved you, but they're gonna go with Jerry o' Connell if he doesn't take it. They definitely want to have conversations with you and possibly negotiate. And Jerry OConnell got the job, and he's on it for five or six years.
Mike
Yeah, I remember that.
Bobby Bones
And he's super funny. I love that guy.
Mike
He was good on that show.
Bobby Bones
I feel like I've met him, but I don't think I ever have. I think he's done a Zoom interview with us before. We've interviewed him.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But never in person, right? No. And then I listen to him on Pardon My Take, which is the podcast I listen to. He's on there a lot. And I have a friend that knows him. So I don't know him, but he's done a great job. Almost got that job.
Mike
Damn, that's cool.
Bobby Bones
And they were open and honest about it. They said, we're gonna hire Jerry o', Connell, but it doesn't work. Like, we loved you, but we think he's the guy. I think he lived in la. He was a little more. He was more famous than I was.
Mike
Were you heartbroken on that one?
Bobby Bones
I remember praying.
Mike
What'd you pray? Can I?
Bobby Bones
Dear God, I'd like to have this job. That prayer wasn't answered, but now that I look back, I'm glad I didn't have to move to LA for that job. Cause I'd have been A daytime talk show host with a bunch of. You know, I thank God for unanswered prayers.
Mike
Yes, there we go.
Bobby Bones
But I really. I was a little. I was a little heartbroken, but at least I got to know quick, quickly about that one.
Mike
Yeah, they were honest with you.
Bobby Bones
So didn't get that one. Jerry o' Connell got it. Oh, here's something I did on that show, though. I mean, I was crushing it by Wednesday. I felt like it was my show. I'm lucky to be versatile enough in pop culture. Sports news. Women.
Mike
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Meaning I know.
Mike
Oh, yeah. I know women.
Bobby Bones
I mean, I'm a tampon away from being a chick.
Mike
Yeah. And clarify. You don't mean it like I'm a manly man. I know women.
Bobby Bones
No, no, no. Like being a woman. Like. Yes, very close. Raised by all women. Like fashion, like that. That type stuff.
Mike
You're good around women.
Bobby Bones
So me and all the ladies were just. I was just feeling it. And so the thing about that show is I didn't get to pick the content. All my shows, I pick all the content. And so they would call and they would give you a quick talk before the show and go, okay, here's what we're gonna do. This is the order we're gonna go to you. And there was a story, I believe it was. I think it was Stephen Colbert. And every night before he would go on, he had something in his studio or somebody that was there with all these years that would, like, give him a pep talk or something. It was something he held onto for a long time. Person or a thing. Don't remember specifically. They said, if you have anything like that, let us know. We'd love for you to talk about it. And I said, oh, I got something.
Mike
It's great.
Bobby Bones
And my wife is with me in the car because she's dropping me off at the studios. And they said, oh, that's amazing. We're gonna lead. Lead with your story. And I said, okay.
Mike
You told them what it was.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, you gotta tell them.
Mike
Yeah.
No, they don't like surprises.
Bobby Bones
They don't like mystery surprises. And so I go. And they go, hey, then Stephen Colbert is doing his thing. And forget what it was. I said, anybody? I said, yeah. I pulled out my wallet and I had this note that I had kept since high school that I wrote myself in high school. And it was basically, hey, keep trying. The best days are ahead. Everything you do affects. It was this real nice note I'd written myself that I'd kept for 25 years or so. And so I read it and people had tears. And I'm like, wow, this is really amazing. I finished the show, I got a text from my mother in law. She said, you're lying about that note. Why would she think that that's where I applied?
Mike
I said, why?
Bobby Bones
She goes, that paper was too white.
Mike
You got busted.
Bobby Bones
And so I said, what do you mean? She goes, first of all, I know you. Are you just gonna do good content or you just want to be interesting on the show? Secondly, I would bet that was the hotel stationery that you pulled out of your wallet.
Mike
She zooms in.
Bobby Bones
It was.
Mike
It's the Drury.
Bobby Bones
And my wife sitting next to me. When I told him, I said, oh, I got this note I wrote myself when I was in high school. As soon as I hung up, she goes, that's such a lie. I said, I know. I gotta get some paper real quick and write this note.
Mike
Dude, that's so good, though.
Bobby Bones
I pulled it out on tv. People melting in my hands. Yes, of course, if you see that Stephen Colbert thing, if you look that up, I'd be curious to know what it was, if we could even find that. Oh, you couldn't find it?
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
Could even been Kimmel or something like that.
Mike
Dude, that's genius.
Bobby Bones
I crushed that. That's what. And then Jerry o' Connell got the job. Even after all that.
Mike
After all that, to me, like, that would have been like, we need this guy. He needs to be on the show.
Bobby Bones
Another one was. I was either. They don't really rank you, like F1, where it's like first place, second place, third place. But I know I was in the very, very final calls for the game show no Whammy.
Mike
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Elizabeth Banks got that. And I knew. Yeah. I think no Whammy is the new version of it.
Mike
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It used to be called Pressure Luck. So I'm pretty sure the new version on the network is the same show, but it's called no Whammy. And she's the host of that. She's way more famous.
Mike
I get it.
Bobby Bones
But I thought I was going to get that job.
Mike
She's pretty. She's prettier than you.
Bobby Bones
And then I shot two pilots, they got all the way to pilot that weren't picked up. One was as the host. As the host. One was a talk show on CMT where I had artists in and would do comedy sketches.
Mike
Was that shot here? Okay.
Bobby Bones
And then it was shot in the. In the CMT studios.
Mike
Okay.
Bobby Bones
And it was. It was just like a late night talk show and they were just wanting something did that did not get picked up. Then I went and auditioned with like 500 other people.
Mike
Oh, gosh.
Bobby Bones
For ABC daytime talk show where they were doing like a multiple type show. And I made it from day one to day three. And every day the people just kept getting more famous. They get brought in. I got brought in on if you've ever been listed as a celebrity birthday on the radio, you're famous. You get to come in. So I go in and it's me and all these people that have been on reality shows that were like second tier. And I made it out of that day. And so the next day it was like Julian Arancik and Rudy Huxtable and all these people. So the next day. But in that is where I met Deion Sanders. And we both got picked to host a show. And we spent two months in LA shooting.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Practicing shooting. Did the pilot. It ended up not getting picked up because the people that put it together ended up either leaving or getting fired. At abc.
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
And so the new people coming in didn't want to have to take a show they didn't put together.
Mike
That's crazy to me that all that would just be garbage.
Bobby Bones
They have so many pilots they don't pick up. It's just another day to them.
Mike
I know. It's just to me, like, that's so much content that's just not used.
Bobby Bones
The other one is the Dancing with the Stars host.
Mike
Oh, the host.
Bobby Bones
And I talked to Tom Bergeron about that because they were saying, hey, Tom's leaving. I'd love to have you be the host. I'm like, I'm in. Can I ask Tom some questions about it? No, no, no, no, no. I didn't realize they were firing him.
Mike
Oh, so he had no idea.
Bobby Bones
So he had no idea. And so he ended up getting fired. And I had so many conversations about it where I felt good that I was going to go. That was going to be easy because I was going to go. I go back and forth. I did the show. Hosting is not as hard as doing the show.
Mike
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And I remember being on the driving range and looking at my phone. It's like Tyra Banks hired his.
Mike
What, so they never spelled my name wrong? No, no, no. Bobby Bo.
Bobby Bones
It's not T I Y R A. And so that's how I found out. And I called my agent and I said, hey, they just hired Tyra. She goes, I know, we just found out too, but I thought I was getting that job too. And I didn't get it.
Mike
Gosh, that's tough, man.
Bobby Bones
That happens. That's showbiz, baby.
Mike
No, I know. And you're, you know, good for you for dealing with that way. I'd be stood. I would be in a ball still on the first.
Bobby Bones
On the first rejection from Atlanta. You're still sad from the Atlanta job.
Mike
I'm no good. I'm a loser. All right, that's going to do it.
Bobby Bones
Did we talk about celebrity weddings at all?
Mike
No, we didn't. But do you want to talk about Taylor and Travis?
Bobby Bones
Well, so that would be the reason that it would happen. I mean, that's why I had the list here. What's the most famous celebrity wedding in our lifetime that you feel?
Mike
I think that for some reason, Princess Diana.
Bobby Bones
That's it. So 1981, Charles Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. So we don't remember that.
Mike
No, we were barely born. I remember the crash really well, though.
Bobby Bones
Okay, that's a whole different thing.
Mike
I know.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. I mean, nothing at all.
Mike
It has nothing to do with this.
Bobby Bones
One of the people. Decades later, around 750 million people watch worldwide.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Dang.
Mike
That's crazy.
Bobby Bones
Go ahead, name another. I have the top 10 that they say is most famous in our lifetime,
Mike
man. One of the JLo's.
Eddie
Oh, oh, oh.
Mike
I think a big one, too is Ben. And is it Ben and JLo?
Bobby Bones
So number nine, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
Mike
That was in Vegas. Right.
Bobby Bones
Bennifer finally married nearly 20 years after their first engagement. So did they not get married at first? They just got married recently.
Mike
Yeah, the first time they didn't. So they.
Bobby Bones
They were. Bennifer. Then they broke up, but they never got married.
Mike
Bennifer.
Bobby Bones
And then in the past five years.
Mike
Right.
Bobby Bones
They got married and now they broke.
Mike
They're broken up and then. Yeah, there's nothing there.
Bobby Bones
Okay, go ahead.
Mike
Oh, man.
This is. I'm kind of. I can't.
Bobby Bones
We talked about one of these people a minute ago.
Mike
Bobby Bones
Well, Michael Jackson.
Mike
Yeah, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley.
Bobby Bones
1994. One of those weird, shocking celebrity marriages ever because it was Michael Jackson getting married and then it was also Elvis daughter.
Mike
Right.
Bobby Bones
And both those things are weird and
Mike
then weird because, like, did he marry her? Well, first, yeah. Michael Jackson getting married to a woman was weird.
Bobby Bones
And then who that woman was.
Mike
And then the fact was like, is he marrying her just because she's Elvis's
Bobby Bones
daughter or is he marrying her because he wants us to see him marrying a woman?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Mike
So many questions. Yeah, that was a Big one.
Bobby Bones
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.
Mike
Yeah, I don't really remember that wedding.
Bobby Bones
The breakup ended up being kind of more famous wedding. It's not even about the wedding. It's just like the famous marriage.
Mike
Just the marriages.
Bobby Bones
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Mike
Oh, gosh, dude, that was terrible.
Bobby Bones
Prince William. I did see that one in Catherine Middleton. Oh, yeah, I remember some of that one.
Mike
That was within the last, what, 10 years?
Bobby Bones
I don't know, dude. Covid messed my brain up.
Mike
Are they the ones that live here? No, that's Michael.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. William is the older one.
Mike
Yes.
So they're still over there.
That was in 2011, the William and Middleton one. Yep.
Bobby Bones
Kim Kardashian and Kanye.
Mike
Yeah, that was a big one. I remember. That was part of the show too, right? Wasn't that part of the Keeping up with the Kardashians?
Bobby Bones
Wasn't that all a show?
Mike
It was, but there was a time when, like, you know, they weren't on air. Right. There was a break where they weren't on air. But it was weird to me seeing Kanye in a reality show.
Bobby Bones
And, like, he was too famous, like, too much stature, to be honest.
Mike
And he's literally walking around in socks, you know, like, in the house. And she's bossing him around, and he's not tough at all. Like, that was really weird to me.
Bobby Bones
Clooney and Amal.
Mike
Oh, yeah, that's big.
Bobby Bones
Prince Harry and Markle.
Mike
Mm.
Bobby Bones
We got Ben and Jlo and then at 10 basis.
Mike
No.
Bobby Bones
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker.
Mike
Nah, same. Yeah, I don't really like.
Bobby Bones
I think Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel. To me, I was more interested in.
Mike
It's true.
Bobby Bones
Than that one. But good luck to. By the time you see this. Let's see, this will be up. I don't know. Taylor and Travis may not be married yet. You think another week?
Mike
There's a chance. What, that they get married before that? Before this?
Bobby Bones
No, this will be up this weekend.
Mike
Okay. Okay. No, they're good.
Bobby Bones
Oh, and next weekend is when they're trying to block off the streets in New York.
Mike
No, no invite.
Bobby Bones
I'm not gonna say anything.
Mike
Me either.
Bobby Bones
There you go.
Mike
Can't say if I'm invited or not.
Bobby Bones
And, you know, good for you. You know the rules.
Mike
I'm very aware.

Bobby and friends share both industry war stories and personal vulnerability about missed opportunities, all with plenty of laughs and big doses of honesty—the very things that have built their careers.
For new listeners, this is classic Bobbycast: cultural curiosity, good-natured skepticism, and the persistent hunt for meaning (or meaninglessness) in the biggest and weirdest trends around.
