Bobby Bones
Come on, Bobby. Transmitting across America. Oh, show. Let's go. Welcome to Friday's show. We got a big one. Morning studio morning. A little later, Hank Williams Jr. In studio performing. Super pumped about that. We're gonna go around the room, get to know each other a little better. I'll ask the question since you haven't heard the question yet. I'll go first. What's the funniest place you've ever fallen asleep? Think about that. I go back to being probably 18 years old. And I used to run a countdown on the weekends on my very first radio station. It was called Klaz. It was a Rick D's Countdown. Rick D's weekly top 40 here. Coming to number one. And had to switch CDs out so the first CD would finish. It'd get to, like, number 20. I'd put in the CD from 20 to 10, put in the CD from 10 to one. But I had to watch it myself. And I remember that middle cd. I was so sleepy because I had work the night before. I had, like, three hours sleep, and I was out at, like, a bar or something doing a radio event. And I remember dreaming that I was dancing with Ricky Martin, living la vida loca.
Eddie
That's a cool dream.
Bobby Bones
And I was like, in the video, and that was the number 11 song that was playing, and it went off, and I just stayed asleep. Dead air. Oh, I woke up. I was like, huh. I probably was asleep for seven minutes. There's nothing on the air. And I just remember dreaming of Ricky Martin living la vida loca. Because that was the last song that was playing as I fell asleep. And I woke up like, oh, God, I switched it out. Nobody ever called me.
Hank Williams Jr.
Nobody.
Eddie
No one was listening.
Bobby Bones
Guess not. That was the scary and the funniest place ever. Falling asleep. Amy.
Amy
I mean, I don't know if it's funny or not, but there was that time I was trying to be a step instructor. I was 18. And the fun part for me was the physical part, like when we would learn routines, because it was two parts. It was that part learning how to actually do it. But then the, like, kinesiology part, like the books part, where you have to, like, study, and there's all these people there. And, you know, you're. You're paying to be there. You want to get certified. And we were sitting all on this, like, gym floor, and I'm like, up against the wall, and I just fall asleep completely. Which probably is why I passed the actual physical part and failed the kinesiology part and why I am not a step instructor.
Bobby Bones
Dang. Wow.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Dang.
Lunchbox
Ready?
Eddie
So it was a party. My George Strait was playing a concert in Kingsville, Texas. And me and three of my buddies went to go visit my brother because he lived there. We went to the George Straight concert. Man, we.
Hank Williams Jr.
We.
Bobby Bones
We went hard.
Eddie
We went real hard. And I remember waking up on the bathroom floor and I had a roll of paper towels as my pillow.
Amy
Is this funniest place. We passed out sleeping guys.
Bobby Bones
So you woke up, go Ahead.
Eddie
I woke up on the bathroom floor with a paper roll of paper towels as my pillow. And everyone said that I threw up in the bathroom and never came out. And so then they just decided to leave me there.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Is that passing out?
Lunchbox
That's passing out.
Bobby Bones
But isn't that still asleep?
Eddie
That's falling asleep.
Bobby Bones
It wasn't your house. That was a friend's house.
Eddie
Yeah, it was like, I guess where the party was.
Bobby Bones
Lunchbox.
Lunchbox
I mean, I guess. I mean, I chose to sleep here because I was in South Padre for spring break, and you were only allowed a certain amount of people in the hotel room. And so four people got wristbands, and the other three, we kept trying to sneak in. And the last night, they wouldn't let us in. So I tried to sleep in the back of the. Like, the bed of the pickup truck, and they're like, oh, no, you can't sleep on the property. So I went to an intersection, and they were doing construction, and those big cylinder, like, concrete.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Circle. Yeah.
Lunchbox
I just climbed in there and fell. Went to sleep.
Amy
What if they started construction?
Lunchbox
Well, I woke up and it was morning traffic, like, cars driving all around.
Eddie
I'm homeless.
Lunchbox
I came out of. I came out of the little tube and went. Walked back to the hotel.
Eddie
What on earth?
Bobby Bones
Good for you, buddy. We're glad you made it. We're glad you all. Eddie made it. Amy didn't make it, but made it, you know?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Well, good. See, I feel like I got to know you guys a little better.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
The Friday morning conversation with Hank Williams Jr. And Dan Auerbach. Hank, how are you?
Hank Williams Jr.
Pretty good.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. It's first time that you and I have met.
Hank Williams Jr.
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I've, you know, come close to you. It's, like, sniffed you a little bit.
Ryan Seacrest
Like, that's awesome.
Hank Williams Jr.
They met me in a lot of songs over the radio, though.
Bobby Bones
Well, that for sure.
Hank Williams Jr.
Damn sure.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Hank Williams Jr.
If you lived in the United States of America, that's for damn sure.
Bobby Bones
Well, and I'm from a small town in Arkansas, so that's for real. Sure.
Hank Williams Jr.
That's why that hog is up there.
Bobby Bones
That's right.
Hank Williams Jr.
I got some Dallas cowboy, rich white friends. Boy, they would love seeing that right there.
Bobby Bones
Jerry Jones. Is that one of them?
Hank Williams Jr.
Yeah. They were hogs. Yeah, they were hogs.
Lunchbox
How's that?
Mandy Woodruff Santos
So this.
Bobby Bones
This project's, you know, pretty cool how it came together. Dan, by the way, Good to see you. Great to see you. Good to see you both you guys. So, Hank, first of all, it's your first record in what's like 2016, I think. So why did you want to put out new music now Board?
Hank Williams Jr.
You know, I don't care about that part. This thing, let me just put it. And you're gonna know. We don't have to waste any more time.
Bobby Bones
You know, I'm all about not wasting time.
Hank Williams Jr.
I'm down here. Little Hank Williams Jr. Is at 4916 Franklin Road, and he's growing up with every one of these dudes. Lightning Hopkins, B.B. king, John Lee Hooker. Everything I've said on this record is real, and everybody knows it. So I'm sitting there 12, 13 years old, and I got my little guitar and I got my amp, and I'm playing Jimmy Reed, and I'm playing all these dudes, and I'm trying to learn how. I'm trying to learn how to do anything on there. Well, this ain't Hank Jr. At 13 anymore. This is the other side. And I'm paying tribute to all these guys. Icon father was taught by a black gentleman named Rufus Payne. And, boy, he had some real, real good lessons from that guy. So I'm looking at it kind of gone full circle. My tee tot was John Lee and BB and on and on and Jimmy Reed. So this one is all about something I've been wanting to do a long time. This ain't forget Hank Jr. This ain't got nothing to do with Thunderhead Hawkins.
Bobby Bones
All right?
Hank Williams Jr.
That's my aka.
Bobby Bones
Nobody told me Thunderhead was coming in.
Hank Williams Jr.
They call him Thunderhead. Cause he fell off that mountainside.
Bobby Bones
On the Bobby Bones Show.
Amy
Now Hank Williams Jr. And Dan Auerbach.
Bobby Bones
All right, here is Georgia Women, live in studio from Hank Williams Jr. Oh, I'm sorry. We can't post the live performance on the podcast. But if you go to our YouTube page, you can watch it there or maybe listen live. Okay. All right, now back to the podcast. How about that Thunderhead? You say hog? It's Hawkins under Hawkins.
Hank Williams Jr.
Hawkins.
Bobby Bones
Thunderhead Hawkins. H A W K I N S. Hawkins. That's right.
Hank Williams Jr.
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
All right, in the next segment, more with Hank Williams Jr. And Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys. They're in studio. I do want to talk about whenever you fell off the mountain. Almost died. Big news story back in the day. Hank Junior's here. We'll talk about that coming up next on the Bobby Bones Show.
Amy
Now, Hank Williams Jr. And Dan Auerbach.
Bobby Bones
Okay, I'm confused. Is Thunderhead Hawkins, is that your new name all the time or is it just for this record?
Hank Williams Jr.
It's A family tradition. And we can pick and we can rock. Who's done that while we're sitting down there in the hall of fame? Senior. Junior.
Bobby Bones
I'm confused because now you're back to hang. Junior, you just said you were only Thunderhead Hawkins today.
Hank Williams Jr.
Well, on this record, okay, those 85 million other ones is that Bocefa stuff?
Bobby Bones
Okay. Gotta help. You gotta help me here.
Hank Williams Jr.
Got that.
Bobby Bones
I'm confused. Got lots and lots of names.
Hank Williams Jr.
Let's do something.
Bobby Bones
All right. What do you want to do?
Hank Williams Jr.
I want to get out of here.
Bobby Bones
Wait already.
Ryan Seacrest
We just.
Hank Williams Jr.
I'm gonna smoke my cigar and get the hell out of here. I don't like this now, you know. You understand? Can we leave now?
Bobby Bones
You just walking.
Hank Williams Jr.
I'm ready to go.
Bobby Bones
All right. Goodbye.
Hank Williams Jr.
I got half. I got a 26 cigar out there. So I've got about, in the words of my uncle, about 10.50 left on it.
Bobby Bones
All right, I'm gonna. Then I'm asking three quick questions. Yes, after the third one, you can walk out.
Hank Williams Jr.
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Are you this. Are you this much of a leader in the studio?
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Huh?
Bobby Bones
Do you just tell people what to do in the studio like this?
Hank Williams Jr.
Ask them, they'll tell you.
Bobby Bones
Dan. How's Dan? How's he in the studio? I mean, this was.
Hank Williams Jr.
When did you write that one? On the way over here.
Bobby Bones
You know, it was all for the love of the music. So, I mean, it was just all gravy, really, the whole time. Are you really leaving?
Hank Williams Jr.
Are you sure?
Bobby Bones
I'm gonna get through my three questions.
Lunchbox
All right.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I didn't hear.
Hank Williams Jr.
I can't hear too many amplifiers.
Eddie
All right.
Bobby Bones
All right.
Hank Williams Jr.
Marcus Trucker was really loud.
Bobby Bones
I'll ask three quick. I'll be. I'll be as generic as possible. Are you ready? I fell off a mountain.
Hank Williams Jr.
My back hurt.
Bobby Bones
No, I wasn't gonna ask that one. I know, but if you want to go there. You fell off a mountain. Everybody thought. Everybody thought you were dead.
Hank Williams Jr.
530Ft was a long way in. 17 operations. Yeah, I have a little bit of back pain now and then.
Bobby Bones
What do you remember about that fall?
Hank Williams Jr.
All of it.
Bobby Bones
You do? You didn't black out?
Hank Williams Jr.
No. That's what. That's why I live, they said, because you. I remember every bit of it.
Bobby Bones
When you landed at the bottom, you think you're gonna live?
Hank Williams Jr.
Nope.
Ryan Seacrest
How did.
Bobby Bones
When did you know you were going to live?
Hank Williams Jr.
They strapped me to the outside of a helicopter. That ride was pretty rough, Cold. Then you get down there and they cut everything off. I Said don't cut my cross off. They cut everything off. I had a gun and a shoulder holster. Cut all of that off. Operated all night. Woke up day and a half later. Something like that.
Bobby Bones
When could you sing again?
Hank Williams Jr.
Oh, it was a long time after that. All right, it was starting all over.
Bobby Bones
Second question. You ready for it?
Hank Williams Jr.
Okay.
Bobby Bones
When people see you on the streets, what song do they associate you with the most?
Hank Williams Jr.
Monday Night Football, 31 years. That put a stamp on them on America. They kind of know that one. Are you ready? All my rowdy friends are coming over tonight. That's what it is.
Bobby Bones
Do you sing that one at shows?
Hank Williams Jr.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wear it out, Wear it out.
Bobby Bones
All right.
Hank Williams Jr.
Come to a show sometime, buddy, and you'll find out.
Ryan Seacrest
One more.
AWS AI / Amazon Ads Announcer
Hold on.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Wait.
Ryan Seacrest
One more.
Lunchbox
What is it?
Bobby Bones
You keep leaving.
Lunchbox
I don't wanna.
Bobby Bones
I'm ready to go. Okay.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
I know.
Bobby Bones
Got one more. All right, this is my question. It's actually more of a statement. You know my favorite song of yours, There's a Tear In My Beard.
Hank Williams Jr.
Oh, you like that?
Bobby Bones
Oh, that's my favorite.
Hank Williams Jr.
You have good, good taste.
Bobby Bones
Cause I'm crying for you, D. Yeah.
Hank Williams Jr.
Well, that's Daddy, that's me. I'm doing that part, you know, that was the words that I found. And the little acetate thing.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I remember the video.
Hank Williams Jr.
When they cut, that's a real, real good taste. Also. You might want to look up the eyes of whaling. Kristofferson said, where in the world did that come from? I said, where do you think? You know, Eyes of Waylon is a song everybody should listen to. There's a lot of them like that. That all in Alabama When I thought I was not gonna make it out there Feeling better Started turning up loud Looking at the crowd and bending them guitar strings I knew all the while it was my style could they ever forget my name? Rockdham and Raleigh knocked them out of Knoxville Just couldn't do no wrong the people went wild and the band said, child, you better keep on singing your songs. And I'm feeling better now. Can I leave?
Bobby Bones
You can go. There he is, everybody. There he is, everybody. There he goes. He grabs his bag. Hey, Dan, how. When you're working with Hank Jr. What is he like in the studio? Is he like that all the time?
Hank Williams Jr.
Man? The first thing he said when he walked in, we'd never met him before.
Bobby Bones
We're all sitting in there. These guys had driven up from Mississippi, and we didn't know what to expect.
Hank Williams Jr.
And the first thing he said was.
Bobby Bones
I don't really feel like right now.
Hank Williams Jr.
And he went into the other room, into the.
Bobby Bones
Into the live room and just lit up a cigar. No one had ever smoked a cigar in the studio. So that's how it started. So both as an artist and a producer, like, it's got to be really hard to get your time. So why Hank Jr. Of all the people that are begging for your time, when.
Hank Williams Jr.
When I found out that he was a fan of R.L.
Bobby Bones
Burnside, I thought we could do something fun. So I called Kenny Brown here.
Hank Williams Jr.
He played with RL since the 70s.
Bobby Bones
Kent Kimbrough Jr. Kimbrough's son, Eric Deaton. These guys played on some of my favorite blues records of all time, and I thought they'd be a perfect fit. And they were.
Hank Williams Jr.
Hank, you know, Hank figured out who he was in the room with, and he just, like.
Bobby Bones
He ate it up. He loved it. Did he make you call him Thunderhead like me?
AWS AI / Amazon Ads Announcer
No.
Bobby Bones
Okay. That's just me.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Okay.
Bobby Bones
All right, so here's the deal that the song was called Georgia Women. Well, yeah, we appreciate what you brought to Nashville. You listen, love the black keys, love what you did with Hank, and just all you guys, appreciate you coming in. That was a heck of a performance. And then Hank, wherever you went, Thunderhead. He's gone. He's gone. All right. Good to see you guys. Nice job. Holiday football has arrived with DraftKings Sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NFL. Bobby Bones
Max, it's time for the good News with Amy. Tell me something good.
Amy
So MacKenzie Scott. She's 20 years old in Arkansas at a nail salon getting her nails done, and she notices a mom there with her baby. But the baby is really, really fussy, so the mom can't really enjoy her appointment. So Mackenzie's done with her nails and offers to go over and hold the baby. The mom was like, oh, I don't know. I don't want to give my baby over to a stranger. Right? But then she decided, you know what? This woman's going to be sitting right with me, hands her baby over, and the baby instantly stops crying. So Mackenzie holds the baby for, like, 45 minutes so the mom can finish her appointment and just relax. It turns out she's a single mom, doesn't have a strong support system, and she ended up taking a video of Mackenzie holding her baby and found her on social media later that night, posted the video. It went viral. Like, 10 million views, thousands of comments, and they've stayed in touch on socials. And McKenzie even offered to babysit anytime. This mom needs extra help again since she doesn't have a strong support system.
Bobby Bones
That's pretty cool. She do anything. 45, man, that was a long time.
Eddie
That's a long, long time.
Amy
I know, but she was enjoying holding the baby, and it just. She just realized, like, oh, this mom really needed this. This nail appointment, this break, like a little me time. And she was able to be a part of helping her out with that.
Bobby Bones
Maybe for getting your toes done, you can hold the baby.
Amy
Yeah.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Be hard.
Bobby Bones
If you're getting your toes, be hard.
Amy
Or. I'm sure she kind of booked the appointment, was hoping her baby would sleep through it, but just wasn't working out that way.
Bobby Bones
That is what it's all about. That was.
Ryan Seacrest
Tell me something Good, Bones.
Bobby Bones
We asked 5, 000 of our listeners on our show Facebook page, what are the top 10 most returned Christmas gifts? We just said, what's most? And here are the top 10 answers. We're gonna play the Bobby fumes. We rolled the dice before the show segment here. Eddie, you're first.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Remember, first, second, and third rounds, the point values go up. Eddie, 5,000 listeners were asked, what's the most returned Christmas gift?
Eddie
I'm gonna go with a necktie. A tie.
Bobby Bones
Oh.
Eddie
Think about it.
Amy
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, let's do it. Because I think that covers it. Go ahead. What I'm talking about. The number one answer is clothes and shoes.
Lunchbox
That's what I.
Bobby Bones
We're gonna. It's only worth one point, so we're gonna go ahead and say that's that one.
Lunchbox
I was like, man, I can't believe you went that detail.
Eddie
Well, that takes out a lot of my guesses.
Bobby Bones
All of Eddie's are clothes and shoes. Nikes, Adidas. Shoes, clothes and shoes. Number one answer. Eddie gets one point.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Okay.
Eddie
I feel like I get this a lot and I don't use them because I already have them. Electric razors.
Bobby Bones
Electric razors. Show me razors.
Eddie
You thought about it, though?
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Yeah. And I'm going to give you guys a hint after round one.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
So you're all going to suffer the same consequences. Round one. Amy.
Amy
Kitchen gadgets.
Bobby Bones
Kitchen gadgets.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Bobby Bones
And number four was home appliances. Oh, that's good, Amy.
Amy
Okay. Alrighty. Home appliances. So that extends beyond the kitchen.
Bobby Bones
I know.
Amy
Okay, this is really getting difficult. What about like, perfumes or colognes?
Bobby Bones
Perfumes are closed. Most returned items for Christmas. Show me perfumes or colognes. Number six. Perfumes and colognes. Wow. Good job.
Amy
Okay, let's talk about neckties. I mean, people like to get this. You should be careful. If you do, like any healthcare, wellness, like workout type stuff, people might be like, what? Why'd you give me this? I'm returning it.
Bobby Bones
Show me workout equipment. Number five. Workout equipment. Good job.
Amy
Let's go. Okie dokie.
Bobby Bones
Okay, 5, 000 listeners were surveyed on our Facebook page. What do they return most from Christmas?
Amy
I want to return these because games are fun, but maybe games.
Bobby Bones
Show me games.
Eddie
It's a good guess, though.
Bobby Bones
Lunchbox.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Yeah.
Lunchbox
This tough, man.
Bobby Bones
It is, man.
Lunchbox
I'm just gonna tell you.
Bobby Bones
Tell me, man.
Lunchbox
That's why I don't ever buy for my wife.
Bobby Bones
Go ahead.
Lunchbox
Women are never happy.
Bobby Bones
Go ahead. Jewelry, show me jewelry.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
That's good.
Bobby Bones
Number two. Jewelry. Have yourself a Mary. A little.
Lunchbox
Two points. Yep.
Hank Williams Jr.
You're welcome.
Lunchbox
All right.
AWS AI / Amazon Ads Announcer
Another thing.
Lunchbox
You should never get someone on Christmas because you. I mean, they say they want it, but it's like, man, a couple weeks later, it's like, I don't want this thing. It's an animal.
Bobby Bones
Show them an animal. Yeah.
Eddie
How do you return the dog?
Bobby Bones
Well, you take it back to where we got. Amy did that actually. Cat.
Lunchbox
Exactly.
Amy
Those were extenuating circumstances.
Bobby Bones
But you did it. You did. You're like, how do you return it? So I answered it like you did.
Lunchbox
Yeah, like, like, Amy, did you. You gave up on it.
Amy
No, my dog was gonna eat it.
Bobby Bones
I know, but okay, so here's the. Here's the hint I was gonna give you. Figured it out. Be a little more general.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I. I got that.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I know. General. Round two points have doubled. Amy, there are still six answers on the board.
Lunchbox
Eddie's turn.
Bobby Bones
Eddie?
Eddie
Yeah, I'm here.
Bobby Bones
We have. Sorry, we asked 5,000 people. What's your most returned Christmas gift?
Eddie
Man, I'm gonna go with candles. Candles are easy to gift, but nobody wants them.
Bobby Bones
You're right. You're right about candles.
Amy
No, I want.
Bobby Bones
It's always the easy, generic thing. And I'm like, there's no way they like this. But my wife loves candles, and we buy candles.
Eddie
I think I got your wife a.
Bobby Bones
Candle last year, and I think she really liked it.
Amy
Yeah, y' all got me a candle once, and I was my favorite.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I've never bought someone a candle.
Bobby Bones
You should show me a kendo.
Ryan Seacrest
Come on.
Bobby Bones
Worth 16 points, Eddie. Oh, my goodness.
Lunchbox
I am mind blown.
Eddie
Now I'm in trouble. So I'm just gonna take a stab at.
Bobby Bones
These are the top 10 most returned Christmas gifts. Go ahead, daddy, Stab away.
Eddie
Give me an alarm clock show.
Bobby Bones
Go ahead and buzz it.
Lunchbox
Don't even have to repeat it.
Bobby Bones
Just buzz it. It's not that. That's a bad one.
Eddie
I'm just being too specific.
Bobby Bones
You just said it's not alarm clock.
Amy
Amy, how many points do I have?
Bobby Bones
14. You're in second place. But remember, points are double.
Amy
Dang it. I know.
Eddie
Come on, Amy, really?
Bobby Bones
Four answers on the board.
Amy
Okay. General. General. General.
Bobby Bones
Show her a general. Oh, that's good.
Eddie
That's good.
Hank Williams Jr.
General Patton.
Amy
Okay, I'm gonna go with, like, General Dwight, General Eisenhower. Toiletry type stuff.
Eddie
Oh, that's real broad.
Bobby Bones
Toiletry type stuff. Like a razor.
Amy
Trees.
Bobby Bones
Toiletry.
Amy
No, not like a razor.
Bobby Bones
Okay, like a razor lunchbox.
Amy
No, I meant like a bath bomb.
Lunchbox
Easy, man. This one's easy.
Bobby Bones
Do it.
Lunchbox
Tools.
Hank Williams Jr.
Do it.
Bobby Bones
Do it.
Eddie
Oh, that's so good.
Bobby Bones
Show the man some tools. Wow, that's good. Lunchbox, number nine. Answer, 18 points. Lunchbox now takes the lead. Oh, my gosh dang it, man.
Lunchbox
Come on, guys, it's easy. You're walking through the bookstore. You're like, oh, I'm gonna get someone a book. I've already read that book, man.
Bobby Bones
Sorry.
Lunchbox
I might take it back. Give me books.
Bobby Bones
Show the guy some literature. Correct.
Lunchbox
You thought that was right?
Eddie
I did. I really did.
Bobby Bones
Points are tripled.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, my God.
Bobby Bones
Score right now. Lunchbox 20. Eddie, 17. Amy, 14 is anybody's game, but you gotta get a. Gotta get an answer here, Eddie. Guys, this is huge. There are 1, 2, 3 answers on the board. We're looking for the top 10 most returned Christmas gifts. And number one was clothes and shoes, jewelry at 2, home appliances at 4, workout equipment at 5, perfume and makeup at 6 and 7, and candles and tools at 8 and 9. I just spoiled one of them. It was makeup. So that one dead is dead.
Eddie
That's the one I had, too.
Bobby Bones
I didn't have it.
AWS AI / Amazon Ads Announcer
I didn't have it.
Bobby Bones
There are two answers left on the board. I'm an idiot. I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Eddie
Okay. Check it out, though. You didn't spoil it, but I know it. You get a CD or a dvd, and you're like, I have no way to play this.
Lunchbox
35 called.
Bobby Bones
I'm returning this show, Eddie, the mid-90s. No.
Eddie
That was part of returning it. Guys.
Bobby Bones
Eddie's like, you get a vhs?
Eddie
No, no, stop.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Okay.
Amy
You can't return a gift card, can you?
Eddie
You can.
Lunchbox
I think you can.
Ryan Seacrest
You can.
Amy
So do it.
Bobby Bones
Amy, there are two answers on the board, but if you miss it, lunchbox wins.
Amy
Y' all are lying.
Eddie
Okay, get. Don't do that one.
Bobby Bones
Two answers on the board.
Amy
Okay, I'm gonna go broad here with, like, furniture.
Eddie
Furniture.
Amy
Well, it could be. That could be anything.
Bobby Bones
Show her an ottoman.
Eddie
No.
Lunchbox
We missed the biggest one. Electronics.
Bobby Bones
Number three was electronics. That was the alarm clock, eddie. And number 10 was.
Lunchbox
Wait, wait, I'm still guessing.
Bobby Bones
You already won.
Lunchbox
I know, but I like to go ahead. I don't know.
Bobby Bones
Say lingerie.
Lunchbox
Lingerie.
Amy
Wait, I had underwear on my list.
Eddie
You didn't say it, though.
Lunchbox
I don't think underwear is lingerie.
Bobby Bones
Why would you yell wait? I had it on my list. What are we waiting?
Amy
Was it really lingerie?
Bobby Bones
Yes. Number 10.
Amy
So underwear would have worked.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Our winner's lunchbox. Bones, let's do Amy all the Time. Amy all the Time.
Amy
Amy all the Time. Amy all the Time. So I'm now using dryer balls. Have you heard of those?
Bobby Bones
You said that funny. Is it? Instead of sheets?
Amy
Yeah, because I can't use dryer sheets anymore because of my rash.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
All right.
Bobby Bones
Remember? Yeah.
Hank Williams Jr.
So what?
Bobby Bones
How do you know?
Amy
Well, I just. I. I process of elimination myself. But then I went to the dermatologist, and he confirmed that I probably just shouldn't use dryer sheets at all, ever. Even if I think that my skin can handle it, because my skin's just really sensitive. So I ordered wool balls. They're dryer balls that made out of wool. And you throw them in the dryer here.
Bobby Bones
You're just at 12.
Amy
I know.
Bobby Bones
Yes. So do they work the same?
Amy
So far, it's been great. I just went on Amazon and ordered like a pack of balls.
Eddie
Oh, boy.
Bobby Bones
Do you think that there are other people that may have an itch or a rash and maybe don't know that it's the sheets and not the dryer balls?
Amy
Absolutely. My dermatologist even said it could be fabric softener. And I'm thinking, why do they sell us this stuff if it's ruining our skin? So I'm just eliminating it all. It's not worth it for me to risk a rash. So now I have dryer balls and I don't use fabric softener anymore, which is so sad because I love the smell of my fabric softener, but I'm using vinegar or something.
Bobby Bones
Do the balls not smell good?
Amy
They're just bulb. They have no smell.
Eddie
No smell.
Amy
I saw online that some people add a drop of essential oil to their balls and put it in there, but I don't. I haven't done that yet.
Eddie
Can you reuse the balls?
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Like.
Bobby Bones
Okay, great question.
Amy
Yeah, you just have. You just order them and then you keep them and you toss them in. If you. Depending on the load size, you might be two balls, maybe three of them.
Eddie
This is too much.
Bobby Bones
I can't do this anymore. No. I know. It wasn't meant to. Ray, we got to get out of here.
Ryan Seacrest
Go.
Bobby Bones
Go, Ray.

Bobby Bones
To do a happiness jar for the show. I'm not sure what this means.
Amy
Yeah, I saw Hoda talking about it. Something Elizabeth Gilbert does. She's an author, and she has a happiness jar that she goes to. And every day she. She puts something that's happy that happened to her in the jar. Just the littlest thing. And then on days that she's having hard days, she digs in the jar, and she gets to read back all the happy things that have happened to her over the weeks, the months, the year. We can do that here on the show. Like, at the end of the show, something happy that happened. Let's drop it in the jar. And anytime we need to be reminded, maybe it's something happy about someone specifically on the show or it's a funny segment from the show. Like, oh, that was kind of funny. Let's put it in the happy jar.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
What if it's like, it made me laugh at Eddie broke his arm?
Eddie
That's not happy.
Amy
No, no, that wouldn't make.
Bobby Bones
But, you know, that's what the jar would turn into, is my point. No, it's like we'd find a way to ruin this jar real quick.
Amy
Your happiest moment of the day, or in our case, the show. But people could do this at home, too. Like with your kids. Like, put your happies in a jar.
Ryan Seacrest
I like this for home.
Bobby Bones
I think it's great we'd find a way here to make this the most toxic jar in the history of media. But at home, you could do that. So you only go into it, though, if you're having a bad day.
Amy
No, you do it every day. You commit to the happiness jar.
Bobby Bones
But when do you go into it to relive the happy moment?
Amy
Oh, well, it. It's helpful on the bad days. You get to dig through and read through all your little happies. You know, it can come in handy anytime. Like, you can revisit it or not. You just know you have this jar full of happiness. And then even looking at it build up because it's a sliver of paper. Like, you on your low days. You can even just look at the jar and be like, gosh, wow. Somehow every day, no matter what, I've been able to find a sliver of happy.
Bobby Bones
So what if I do a happiness jar as an experiment for myself? And then it's end of the month, we'll just pull out some happies, and you guys can see what made me Happy over the month.
Amy
Yeah.
Eddie
Okay. But you're not going to tell us what made you happy.
Bobby Bones
No. And then we just. We just pull some out.
Amy
But here's the deal. This is the day it's going to get hard for you. If Arkansas's participating in any kind of.
Bobby Bones
Hours, I'll slam the jar into the wall.
Amy
No, no. But that's going to be the real challenge for you, is picking out the happy moment on a day where Arkansas has lost.
Eddie
I thought that's when you opened the jar.
Amy
He could. But you still have to add something. Even if you're reading the happies, you're gonna. You still have to contribute every day.
Eddie
That is tough.
Bobby Bones
Every day. But you have me. Have to remind me some days.
Amy
That's fine.
Eddie
I mean, you have to have something happy every day.
Bobby Bones
What if a day just shows the.
Amy
Point of the exercise?
Bobby Bones
Like today. Not really that great a day so far.
Amy
Exactly. It's to show that even in I'm.
Bobby Bones
Happy this segment's about to be over.
Amy
There'S nothing you can be happy for.
Eddie
I mean, that works.
Bobby Bones
It's time.
Amy
Good news with producer Eddie.
Eddie
There's a high school in Wisconsin that received a huge, amazing gift. And they're like, what on earth? Like, who gave this? It was a $1.8 million estate.
Ryan Seacrest
Wow.
Eddie
Somebody donated their estate to the school.
Bobby Bones
And then they just sell it and keep the money.
Eddie
No, no, no. The school's like, well, what are we going to do with it?
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Right?
Eddie
But first they were like, who. Who is this? So they did some research. They found out that it belonged to Millie Lindahl, and she went to school there, like, 70 years ago.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Eddie
And she said she didn't have any family. She didn't have any kids, no close relatives. So she wanted to give it to the high school because she had such great memories there. And now the school's like, I think we're gonna turn into a performance center and just name it after her.
Bobby Bones
So they're not selling it. Get the money. They're gonna actually use the land.
Eddie
They're gonna use it.
Hank Williams Jr.
Oh, wow.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
That's cool.
Bobby Bones
That's crazy. I feel bad for old Nelly.
Eddie
Millie.
Hank Williams Jr.
Whatever.
Mandy Woodruff Santos
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Just by herself. Yeah. No one like, just like, I'll just give it to the school, I guess.
Amy
But she had a lot of fond memories there 70 years ago.
Bobby Bones
I'm not fighting that. I'm just saying that. Dang.
Eddie
That's crazy.
Bobby Bones
All right. Good story. That is what it's all about. That was.
Ryan Seacrest
Tell me something good.
Bobby Bones
Wake up. Wake up.
Hank Williams Jr.
In the morning.
Bobby Bones
His wigs. Next bit. Now Bobby's on the mic, so, you know, it did. This is. This is the time for the morning corny. The morning corny.
Amy
Why do keyboards never sleep?
Bobby Bones
Why do keyboards never sleep?
Amy
Because they have two shifts. Okay, get it.
Bobby Bones
That was the morning corny. No, I get it, but I've worked a lot of different shifts. There's more than two shifts.
Amy
Not if you're a nurse.
Bobby Bones
There's. Well, I'm not a nurse. I was never a nurse, though. Day shift, night shift. Over night shift. Yeah, I hear you.
Eddie
She's fighting for this.
Amy
I know.
Bobby Bones
Bobby Bone show story of the day.
Lunchbox
This story comes to us from Highland Park, Michigan. A man walked into a Dollar General and went to the Hot Pocket and said, I'll take some of those. Start shoving them in his pockets and his coat. And the employee goes, hey, you can't steal those. And he goes, I got a gun. I'll blow your head off if you say anything. And he left.
Bobby Bones
That's a lot for a Hot pocket.
AWS AI / Amazon Ads Announcer
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
You know, maybe. If anything, it's like, I have a club or a base or even a knife, because you want to go, gun. That's a whole different level.
Lunchbox
He called police. He was like, hey, I think the guy works at a store a couple doors down in the shopping center. And they went in the break room. Guy was eating Hot Pockets.
Bobby Bones
Of course he was. What else? You really shouldn't say anything, but I just wouldn't go, gun.
Amy
Yeah, or blow your head off. Because what if it's like, you know, I'm gonna shoot your pinky toe?
Bobby Bones
Or you can do like the mob does and be like, maybe I will. Maybe I won't do something bad to you if you stop me.
Amy
Oh, leave it.
Bobby Bones
Just.
Eddie
So choice is yours.
Lunchbox
Well, no, not yours.
Bobby Bones
Keep it away. That's like mob. You're really doing anything. Okay, okay.
Lunchbox
I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day, Bones.

This lively Friday episode brings a mix of music industry legends, quirky team stories, and interactive game show fun. The show features a candid in-studio interview with country superstar Hank Williams Jr. (and producer Dan Auerbach), team confessions of their weirdest sleep locations, and the always-popular "Bobby Feud"—this time, guessing the most returned Christmas gifts. Sprinkled throughout are uplifting stories, lighthearted banter, and a conversation about building happiness, literally, one jar at a time.
Bobby opens the show by inviting the crew to share the most unusual places they’ve ever fallen asleep. Complete with hilarious stories and playful jabs, this segment delivers behind-the-scenes peeks into the team’s pasts.

Uplifting listener stories, including:
Mackenzie Scott: A young woman calms a fussy baby in a nail salon so the mother can enjoy her appointment. The gesture goes viral and initiates an ongoing supportive relationship.
High School Gift: An anonymous $1.8 million estate is left to a Wisconsin high school alumni’s old school; they plan to turn it into a performance center.
A hilarious round of the “Bobby Feud” game, focused on the most returned Christmas gifts as surveyed by listeners.
Bobby’s skeptical, predicts the show would find a way to “ruin” the jar into a collection of sarcastic or negative notes.
The episode masterfully blends humorous storytelling (from both the crew and their famous guest), music industry insights, and interactive fun, all in a conversational, teasing, and upbeat Southern tone. Transitional banter helps the show flow, with moments of energy, genuine reflection, and plenty of quick-witted, family-friendly digs amongst friends. Hank Williams Jr. injects a mix of gruff charm and unpredictability, making for one of the episode's most memorable stretches.
