Bobby Bones
I hate to say it, but I don't trust much of anything.
Eddie
It's the rage bait.
911 Operator
It feels like it's trying to divide people.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
We got clear facts.

Maybe we can calm down a little.

NBC News brings you clear reporting.

Let's meet at the Facts.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Let's move forward from there. NBC News.
Bobby Bones
Reporting for America, I'm Mangesha Teegular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time, I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blue zoners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work.
911 Operator
Make it look more defined.
Bobby Bones
They say it works.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't know.

Betrayal Weekly is back with brand new stories from threatening text messages disturbing a small Midwestern town. It was from an unknown number.
911 Operator
Who else is getting these messages?
Colleen
Why did it start with us? To long cons and stolen identities.
Bobby Bones
Who lies about being this sick?
911 Operator
This was the last time I ever

believed a word she said.

Your husband is not who you think he is. Your body is not what you thought it was. Your identity is formed by a secret history. I'm Dani Shapiro, and these are just a few of the stunning stories I'll be exploring on the 14th season of Family Secrets. He kind of shoved me out of the way and said, move.
Colleen
And he went out the front door
911 Operator
and he jumped in a car and drove off.
Colleen
And that was the last time I saw him.

Listen to season 14 of Family Secrets on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akilah Hughes and Rebel Spirit. Season two is about both of those things.
Eddie
As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it
Lunchbox (Daniel)
meant that I grew up in a

Lunchbox (Daniel)
91 1, what's your emergency?
Bobby Bones
Hey guys, Bobby here, a special episode. Today we're looking back at one of Lunchbox's favorite hobbies. Calling 911. That's right, it's the 911 special. Over the years, Lunchbox has called 911 for just about everything. Sometimes serious, like witnessing a car accident, getting rear ended on the highway, or reporting a suspected drunk driver. Other times, well, let's just say his definition of an emergency does not always line up with everyone else's. I thought it would be fun to hear all of his calls over again and all the stories. So here are the segments of Lunchbox calling 911 over and over, over again. Over the past year, Lunchbox has started to love to call 911. And you don't call it as a joke.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I call it in emergency situations. When I see something, I'm the first to call 911. A DUI, like someone driving under the influence or swerving all the road. Gotta call 911. There's a car break in 911. I find a guy laying on the side of the road, 911.
Bobby Bones
And I'm on that line of is he calling too much? But I'm glad he's calling. But recently he told us that a lady had her car broken into at the park.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, we were at the park, at the playground, and as she was leaving with her two kids, she comes back crying and someone had smashed out her window and broken into her car. So they had stolen her phone. Who's there to call 911? This guy. Woohoo, man on the spot.
Bobby Bones
And they told you this isn't really for 91 1?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, they kind of said, we'll send an officer, but it's not an emergency.
Bobby Bones
So, Scuba Steve, let me ask you a question. How did you get this audio? So I reached out, I have a
Lunchbox (Daniel)
connect at Nashville Metro and I got the audio from them.
Bobby Bones
Scuba Steve can get in touch with anybody for anything. And so you call and go, hey, we need, did you find the time that Lunchbox called?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, he gave me his phone and
Eddie
showed me where he called the time, the date and everything.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
And they found it and pulled it
Eddie
up and they gave me the audio.
Bobby Bones
Did he emailed it to you?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I have the audio.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, they gave it. Okay, here we go.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Here's the clip.
Bobby Bones
It's 61 seconds. The question is, is, is he a Hero or is he a Karen? I haven't heard it either. Whoa, Karen, a lot of listeners and you even told us they said this wasn't.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, I did call the cops. I forgot about the calling the cops on that graduation party.
Eddie
What up?
Bobby Bones
Woo.
911 Operator
Woo.
Bobby Bones
Okay, here we go. Here's Lunchbox calling 911.
911 Operator
Tuesday, January 26th. The time, 6:06pm 911, what's your emergency?
Caller
Yeah, I'd like to report a robbery.
911 Operator
Okay, what's your address?
Caller
I mean, I don't know the exact address. It's the dog park right here. Shelby Community Center. I think it's cross 20th and Lillian.
911 Operator
Okay, and can you tell me what happened?
Caller
Yeah, we were playing at the park. It was me and my two kids, and there were some other families here. And one lady with her two kids, she went to get in her car and someone had busted out the window.
911 Operator
Okay, was there anything taken from the vehicle?
Caller
They took her diaper bag, which had her phone and her wallet with everything in it.
911 Operator
And is everyone okay? Are there any injuries or anything?
Caller
No, everyone's fine. You know, we're just standing here. She just didn't have a phone. She's a little shaken up, you know, she's kind of crying and.
911 Operator
Okay, okay, well, 911 is usually used for emergencies only, but in this circumstance, I will have an officer come into your direction. Okay?
Caller
Okay. All right. Thank you so much.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, I sound like awesome, huh?
Bobby Bones
I don't. Is that a robbery, though? That's my first question because I heard a report a robbery.
Colleen
Well, I know that robbery and burglary are different. Like robbery as if you're home. And burglary is if the house or the car was empty. Yeah, I think so.
Bobby Bones
I think. I don't think that you're reporting a robbery. That's why she was like, is everybody okay? Oh, you were reported a. Well, I mean, it could be the robbery is 911.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Robbery is 911 burglary.
Bobby Bones
Maybe it is too. I don't know, but I thought you did pretty. I don't think you sounded like a Karen. You did get into professional voice though, a little bit. Did you guys hear him get. Oh, yeah, actually, I'm glad you asked.
Colleen
Okay, so, yeah, a burglary or burglary occurs when someone enters a place without the consent. Like no one is there to even do anything. And then a robbery is when someone is like, using force or threatening. So that means someone is in their presence.
Bobby Bones
Heck, we're lucky you didn't report a murder. And a Kidnapping.
Colleen
Way to be calm though, in such a tense situation.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, especially right after a robbery happened 10ft from where I was. Not a robbery, a burglary.
Colleen
A burglary happen upon the broken glass. It didn't happen in front of you.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, I mean I was at the playground, the parking lots, you know, 15, 20ft away.
Bobby Bones
So you exaggerated a little bit. But still good was done.
Colleen
Also, heads up, if you go to that dog park, breaking into windows there
Bobby Bones
is common part of it. It's on the sign.
Colleen
It's like heads up. If you park here, park at your own risk.
Bobby Bones
I'm not going to say that was a Karen. You didn't lie a little bit.
Colleen
I just don't think you knew. I think from that you learned. Oh, I should call a different one. One for this.
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah. But again, you didn't see it though. Didn't you say you kind of saw it?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I don't know if I said I saw it. I just said she went to her car and the window was busted out and she came back, she was kind of upset.
Colleen
And so I love how you're like, I got this.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'll be the one to call 911.
Colleen
I got this. I don't even know you, but I got it.
Bobby Bones
You know what? We're still gonna applaud you for this.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, thank you.
Bobby Bones
And not a Karen.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
There it is.
Bobby Bones
Okay, lunchbox was what you traffic light, right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Four way stop.
Bobby Bones
Can you see some drama happening in a car where people are getting out screaming at each other? Like, give me like 15 seconds of what you saw.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, a woman honking the horn and it looks like she was in distress. And this guy's walking around the outside of the car. So I pull up and I say, is everything okay? And he says, yeah, we're just in a disagreement. And she opens her car door, is crying and says, will you please call in my plates? Like call the cops. I'm in trouble.
Bobby Bones
So the call, 17 minutes long. We've had to edit it obviously, but here are lunchbox's thoughts that he sent over to me. One, I'm interested to see how awesome I sound. I haven't heard this yet. I was for sure feeling myself as we chased the car. Number two going over in my head. It sounded like the people in the movies in a real intense scene. So that's what he thinks he sounds like.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Which by the way, we applaud you for calling. Yeah, right.
Caller
Yeah.
Colleen
But now it makes me think on the call he's going to be so Overly dramatic.
Bobby Bones
Here we go. Here is the first part of the call. Here's the beginning.
911 Operator
Sunday, June 6th at 7:06pm 911, what's your emergency?
Caller
Yes, ma', am. I'd like to report a domestic disturbance at 14th and Shelby.
911 Operator
Okay, tell me what's going on.
Caller
I pulled up to the four way stop and there was a car like a champagne SUV just kept hawking its horn. And when I pulled up to it and I asked if everything was all right, the woman was crying and she asked me to call in her plates and so the license plate is X3.
911 Operator
Okay, are you following them?
Caller
Yeah, yeah, we. I'm still behind them. They're one car in front of me. They're going to be turning left onto Eastland.
Bobby Bones
Okay, that's the first part.
911 Operator
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
How do I sound? How do I sound?
Colleen
Like normal.
Caller
Normal?
Colleen
Yeah, yeah.
911 Operator
Calm, collected.
Bobby Bones
You also know streets. I don't know a dang street. I can be sitting on a street looking at the sign and I'm not sure which sign going which way means what street I'm on. And lunch is like, yeah, going east. They're going to take a 2.2 mile block. Blah, blah, blah, bl. And here is the end of the call. It's about 50 seconds. Here you go.
Caller
They're taking a left on the Briley. So we're going to be heading west on Briley towards 65. Are. I mean, are the cops coming?
911 Operator
Like they have been dispatched. So there should be one headed that way.
Caller
Okay, well now we are, we are exiting 65, so we will be heading 65 north. They're pulling away. They're going pretty fast.
911 Operator
Now at this time I'm going to ask you and advise you to please stop following them. Metro has been dispatched and they'll handle it from here.
Caller
Yeah, they didn't. They, they got over one lane. They did not take the exit.
911 Operator
Sir, once again, I need to advise you to quit following them for your safety.
Caller
Okay. Yeah, okay, well I took the exit and they kept going straight so I quit following them. So hopefully. Yeah. Okay.
911 Operator
Okay, sir, thank you very much. We definitely rehab it from here. Thank you. Thank you for calling this in.
Bobby Bones
So how do you feel you sounded?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Man? I felt like I sounded pretty good. I felt like I did a good job of giving her like everywhere we were. Like I felt like they should have been on. Like we should have been there immediately because I was good.
Bobby Bones
I felt like you knew where you were, you knew where they were going. Yeah, I feel like you were Just talking to them, like, hey, here's where I am.
Colleen
Yeah. I wouldn't compare that to a scene in a movie. I mean, I'm super proud of you and what you did was amazing. And. Yeah. How you were navigating through it all and you stayed close to them for that long. Like, it's impressive, but it's not a movie.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Did you think it was a little more intense in your mind?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I did. I felt like it was like a high speed chase in a movie. Like. Like a car's getting away and I'm like, oh, no, it's picking up speed. I'm on like. Like, oh, we're taking a left and you hear the tires. You know, that's what, like, the movies make it. And I felt like I was in a movie because you watch movies and scenes have happened like that, and I felt like I was living that out in real life.
Bobby Bones
Were you upset the news didn't pick this up?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, a little bit. Little bit. Like, guys, come on. Like, this is someone stepping up in their community. And you always looking for community heroes or something on the news. Hello. What do you think I was doing?
Bobby Bones
There's another story where Lunchbox is upset that it went viral.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, this is annoying.
Bobby Bones
And he wrote in parentheses, do you know how many times I've donated clothes? Like, as his own quote to the story. A heartwarming moment. Florida A and M college senior gifts clothes and shoes to a homeless man on the side of the freeway. Which is a great story. Yeah, I have it right here. A shirtless man, later identified as Florida A and M senior Jabari Richardson, can be seen taking shoes and clothes out of the trunk of his car at a stop on the freeway. The homeless man, wearing a face mask and equipped with a cardboard sign, gratefully accepts the clothes from Richardson before walking away. He can be seen getting back in and driving off. And so that's the story. Yeah, but that's not the story that was sent in for like a tell me something good. This lunchbox going, I donate clothes. Why have I not been on the news? Right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, I've been to Goodwill, the homeless shelter, numerous times with old clothes donated, you know, boxes full, and guess what? There's no one ever filming me saying, hey, this guy should go viral. Like, I mean, this guy gives it to one individual. I give it to multiple individuals by giving it to Goodwill or the homeless shelter. I mean, that means like 20, 30, 40, 50 people get to look at my clothes and pick it, and I don't go viral. So do I need to have my wife follow behind me? Like, look at this guy donating to the homeless shelter.
Bobby Bones
I mean, that is a move. Maybe, like, set up someone to do it. Set up a viral video.
Colleen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like, I know you're obsessed with being acknowledged and recognized in a public forum. Right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That's.
Bobby Bones
What would you say that's mostly why you do good stuff.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, that's why you do good stuff, is to be acknowledged and to get, you know, recognition for it.
Bobby Bones
I would say you try to set one up, though, with your. With your wife. Shoot, if you must have it. Listen, I don't care. As long as he does something good for somebody, I don't care what happens. Like, somebody's going to benefit. So I would suggest you doing that, setting it up, and then bring the video in and we'll tell you if it looks real or not.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay, I'll see if my. My wife may be against it. Cause she gets embarrassed real easily. But if we pull up at a stoplight, she can be right behind me and be like, oh, this guy deserves to go viral.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, well, I don't think that's what they say in this video.
Colleen
Like, she could maybe just be like.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That's what they said in this guy. In this video right here. That said, I believe the person taking it said, this person deserves to go viral.
Bobby Bones
Okay, we'll try that. Try that.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
All right. I'll go find an old shirt and give it to the guy in the corner.
Bobby Bones
I don't think you do the same thing. You have to also create something new. Ish.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, okay.
Bobby Bones
Or if you really wanted to do it, you have. I mean, you could really stage it. Put one of your friends on the corner.
Colleen
No, you might as well.
Bobby Bones
And then what you do is you have all these clothes, and you take off all your clothes except your underwear and give them a time.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
And you get back in the car with just your underwear. No, like, if you want to really go viral, I can make it go viral.
Eddie
I mean, if I saw that happening,
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'd say that's pretty cool. I'd appreciate that one for sure.
Bobby Bones
On Tuesday, we found out lunchbox called 911 again, which. This year? How many times?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
At least five. That's not.
Bobby Bones
Which is a lot. I don't think I've called it my entire life. But this one we felt like was warranted.
Colleen
Lunchbox.
Bobby Bones
He witnessed an alleged drunk driver swerve, hit two park cars. So he stepped in and made the call to 911. We have the audio.
Colleen
Yes. Been Waiting for this.
Bobby Bones
Here is Lunchbox calling 911 Friday, August 13th.
911 Operator
The time is 5:43pm 91 1, what's your emergency?
Caller
Yes, ma', am. Yes, ma', am. I need to report. There was a. I need to report an accident. A car at. Between. On Shelby between 19th and 20th.
911 Operator
Okay, sir, can you tell me what happened?
Caller
Yeah, I was walking my kids in the wagon. We were approaching a four way stop and I looked to my left and there was a white truck and it was flying, going about 45 or 50 and ran right through the stop sign and then boom, boom. It like it hit two parked cars, it lost a wheel and it's come to a stop about three houses down.
911 Operator
All right. Okay, keep calm for me now. Is the driver in the vehicle?
Caller
Yeah, the driver's in the vehicle. Like he's just.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't know.
Caller
I mean, I don't know if he's. He's just sitting in the vehicle. He's a couple houses down. I'm walking that way now.
911 Operator
Okay, will you tell him to stay there? Just sit down in case he's in.
Caller
Sir, sir, just sit down on the curb. He's getting out of the truck. So he's. He doesn't. I don't see any blood. Sir, just sit on the curb and make sure you're okay. Sit down.
911 Operator
All right, now. Thank you for helping. Sir. I'm going to dispatch fire and police. They should be there any minute. Okay?
Caller
Okay. Yeah. All right.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Thank you so much.
911 Operator
Thank you.
Caller
It's between 19th and 20th.
911 Operator
19th and 20th. Thank you, sir.
Bobby Bones
First of all, great job.
Colleen
Yes.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Does that sound good?
Eddie
Yes, I love it.
Bobby Bones
Sound good. I always wonder if he's doing for dramatic effect when he's doing like bonehead stories of the day.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Boom, pow.
Bobby Bones
But no, but no, no. He did it on 91 2.
Colleen
This is what it's like just to talk with him. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And so did the guy sit down when you told him to?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, he didn't sit down. He stood up. He just stood up.
Colleen
Watchboxy's like, sit.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I told you, sit down.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That's what she said. She said to have him sit because I guess maybe like he's hurt and he doesn't know he's hurt, so he starts walking around and something happens. I don't know. But she said, have him sit down. So I said, hey, sir. But he was just like, he just stood there.
Bobby Bones
Did you ever see cops come out there?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, cops, ambulance, fire, all of it.
Bobby Bones
They get him?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, they took him in the they checked his vitals, everything. Took him back in the ems and I don't know if they ever arrested him, but I left before that because I was like, I ain't got time to wait. It was dinner time.
Bobby Bones
Did the news cover this?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, we did.
Colleen
We just did.
Bobby Bones
You've gone radio show viral.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Wow. I did sit there for an extra long, long while hoping the news was going to show up, but nothing.
Bobby Bones
Oh, were you waiting to do an interview?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yes, because I was only eyewitness. Only one.
Colleen
Well, I wonder, too, though, now that he knows, because of the previous calls We've gotten 911 audio, is he. Because this is gonna continue, but does he give the extra knowing that we're gonna find the audio?
Bobby Bones
Okay, that's a good question. Knowing that Scuba Steve can call and get this audio, do you feel like
Lunchbox (Daniel)
you give a little?
Bobby Bones
Because that one felt like he was
Lunchbox (Daniel)
giving a little more. A little bit. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Bobby Bones
I was walking my kids.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Sit down.
Colleen
I thought you were about to. Citizens arrest him.
Bobby Bones
Oh, dude, that in your next one.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, I mean, I didn't have the capability because I didn't know if he
Colleen
was your kids, though.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah. I mean, I could have put him in the wagon. Paddy wagon.
Bobby Bones
Put him in the wagon. Yeah, with the kids. Did you. Final question. Did you a little bit perform because you knew that 911 call could have been heard 100%.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Not like, I mean, I was just in the moment. I don't even think about that in the moment. Like, 30 minutes later, I'm like, I'm going to tell Scuba he's got to find that audio.
Colleen
So, like, just your natural how you are. You want to give the sound effects to the 911 oper so she understands.
Caller
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So she knows what he hit. I mean, if you say, oh, he hit a couple parked cars, it's like, oh, he just tapped them. Boom, boom, bam.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that is good.
Eddie
Real good.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It sold me.
Colleen
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, hey, we're gonna give you this.
Eddie
Yes.
Colleen
I'm proud to call you friend right now.
Eddie
Yes.
Bobby Bones
You deserve a great weekend. Yes. Yes. Okay. Last week, Lunchbox told us he again called 91 1. It's his favorite thing to do. And sometimes we're like, you don't need to call 911 for that. This time, though, we felt like what you did and why you did it, like, it made sense. So tell the listeners what you did.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So I was leaving a soccer game, and there was a white truck in front of me, and it was swerving all over the road, leaving the Roadway. And I was like, okay, this is obviously a drunk driver. So I called 911 to report the drunk driver thinking, okay, the police will come and woo, pop them, pull them over, cuff them, stuff them, because definitely going to the drunk tank.
Bobby Bones
And then you followed him?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I did follow.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So I may, I may have gone the opposite direction where my house was.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. But he's also changed his story a couple times where he said he may have passed an exit, but now he's turned around, he's following.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean they may have been going left and so I went left with them and then they took an exit. Yes.
Bobby Bones
So when you call 911 that's available for anybody to get. So we have lunchboxes, call 2911 so we can hear it. It's about a minute long. And then lunchbox has a few things to say afterward, right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Okay, go ahead.
Colleen
Saturday, April 8th, the time is 9:47pm
911 Operator
91 1, what's your emergency?
Caller
Yes ma', am. I'm driving and there's white truck in front of me is all over the road. I mean swerving left, right? And I mean, I guess not swerving more, drifting lane to lane. We're about to take exit three and we're gonna. Oh no, we're gonna go to the left. So we're gonna.
911 Operator
Wait, wait, are you following him? I don't think you should follow him.
Caller
No, no, I'm not following. This is the, this is the way I go home. It's, it's just the same way. And he just happens to be taking the same exit and we're gonna, we're doing the loop. We're gonna be doing the loop de loop going.
911 Operator
Don't follow him. If you can just maybe try to get the license plate.
Caller
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I mean. Oh man, he's just like, like the red lights, he's stopping at the red lights, but right off the, like when he hits. Starts up, he starts swerving over the lane right away. Like it's just like, oh my gosh.
911 Operator
Okay, well thank you so much. Don't follow him. And if you can, can you like get off of the highway now and
Caller
Yeah, I mean this is just the way I'm going home. I got. This is my way to my house. He just happens to be going the same way.
911 Operator
Okay, I'll let the officers know. All right, thank you so much for calling.
Caller
All right, bye.
Bobby Bones
Did you ever give the license plate?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, because I couldn't get close enough to get the license plate.
Bobby Bones
And you were lying though.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, a little bit. A little bit.
Bobby Bones
But you were lying. You weren't going the direction you were.
Caller
You're right.
Bobby Bones
Okay, go ahead.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But here's my thing. I felt like she was just annoyed with me the whole time. I felt like she was just like.
Bobby Bones
I think she didn't want you to follow him because it could have ended bad for you. Let's say he sees you following him, turns around with a gun and starts to shoot at you, crashes into you. You crash trying to follow him.
Eddie
And I think she caught you in the lie, too. So she's, like, not falling for that.
Bobby Bones
And also, you couldn't give her the license plate, so you really couldn't help her at all.
Eddie
No, no.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But I told her, okay, we're exiting 3 exit 3, doing the loop de Loo, and it's a white truck. I mean, I explained.
Bobby Bones
I say loopy loo.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Loopy loo. What a Loop de Loo is for people that don't know is when you exit and you circle back. Yeah, you.
Caller
You.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Instead of hitting a stoplight, you go underneath the bridge and come back around. It avoids the stop by. It's called a loop de loop. Don't know if that's the technical term, but that's what I call it. And I just like. Her tone of voice to me was like. She was annoyed that I called. Like, I'm not supposed to call 911 for that. I don't know. But she didn't seem very like, oh, thanks for calling.
Bobby Bones
You really couldn't give her anything, I think is her frustration. You couldn't get her the license plate and you wouldn't stop following him.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I was keeping a safe distance.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I hear you. I don't feel like she was annoyed. Annoyed, though, do you? I just feel like she could do nothing about it. You didn't give her enough information to do anything.
Colleen
Yeah, I feel like she was doing her job, but also it's her job to keep other people safe, involved. So she was probably just. That's what he's picking up. The vibe from her is like, sir, I.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But like, when I'm on.
Colleen
Stop doing this.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Like when I watch tv, like when I watch those Dateline ones, right? They're like, stay on the phone. Don't hang up until an officer arrives. This one, she's like, all right, thanks.
Bobby Bones
And I'm like, is that always. Is that for a drunk driver, though?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't know.
Colleen
No, I think that's like if you're in a closet hiding from a burglar.
Bobby Bones
Like Try to stay on the line that makes shruder. Yeah, like, try to stay on so we can save your life because someone's in your house that might kill you.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I'm just saying, when I watch TV and they always say, don't hang up. And then she's like, okay, thanks for calling. She's already ready to get off the phone and be like, she's got something. Appointment to be at or something.
Bobby Bones
Maybe she did.
Colleen
Maybe she had another call.
Bobby Bones
Eddie, what did you hear there?
Eddie
I think that you're right. He had no information for her. And she got all the information she can possibly get from lunchbox. And then it's almost like his prank calls where he just doesn't stop talking.
Bobby Bones
He just. And he starts stammering a lot.
Eddie
Right. And so she's just like, rev it up. I gotta either get. I mean, she's gotta send the cops out there. One and two. She probably has, like, her phone lines are probably ringing for more calls.
Bobby Bones
Probably somebody in a closet. And she's like, stay on the phone. I got this idiot who's chasing a car.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Not chasing, not chasing, following.
Bobby Bones
You have no reason to be upset about the call.
Colleen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
After hearing it back, I would be a little more succinct. I would be a little more descriptive.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I was trying to, but, like, whenever the guy was swerving, it would make me. I would get like. I would like, visually, like, just as you're watching it live, you can't. You can't not react. So it's like I'm in mid conversation when something happens. You, like, you don't know how to describe it because it freaks you out.
Colleen
It probably freaks you out extra if you have kids in the car.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, it probably does.
Bobby Bones
Did you have your kids in the car? Did you tell us that he did? Oh, no.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, but I told you I was maintaining a safe distance.
Bobby Bones
Why are you chasing the car?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, no, they did. They asked me, dad, why are you calling the. The police? I was. Oh, you know, they're just. They might be sick. They might need a doctor. I did. I don't know.
Bobby Bones
Sounds like a lot of lying going on.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay.
Bobby Bones
You have no reason to be upset.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay.
Bobby Bones
All good. You made a good call, though. I. What I would say next time is be a little more prepared and try not to be so reactional to what's happening so you can describe to her what's happening.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay.
911 Operator
Okay.
Colleen
All right.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
And so next time I should have spikes is what you're saying.
Caller
Be more prepared.
Eddie
Spikes. What do you do?
Bobby Bones
Run Ahead of them.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Throw them out there. No, not at all. Before we play the audio of the 911 call lunchbox. Have you heard this?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I've not.
Bobby Bones
Hilarious. Because if you call 911, it's there. It's public record. And so, lunchbox, kind of recap for our audience, why you called 911 over Christmas break.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Because my mom wasn't feeling well. She was just, like, disoriented, was sweating, like, had a fever, and she was very. I don't know, but she was very weak. And we were like, man. And my sister, as a nurse, did her little finger thing where I. Pulmometer. I don't know what it's called.
Bobby Bones
Huh.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
You know, I'm talking about the little. Like when you go.
Bobby Bones
You put it on your finger. Yeah, the oxygen.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay. Oximeter, whatever you call it. I don't know. And my sister's like, your numbers are low. And we're like, man, you could just go to the er, but you could sit there for hours and wait. And then something in the back of my head said, ray always says, if you want to get to the front of the line, roll the truck.
Bobby Bones
Which means call 911 and get an ambulance.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Call an ambulance. And so I was like, all right, I guess I'm going to roll a truck.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so here is the actual call. Now, in hindsight, do you think you needed to call 911 for your mom?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, probably not, no. I mean, I don't think it was that big of an emergency.
Bobby Bones
But did you then, though? But now, did you then?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Nah, not really.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I just felt like, you know, she's not feeling good. It's not a waste of services, and I get to roll a truck.
Bobby Bones
Why is it not a waste of services? How do you just declare that?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, because they're gonna help her provide medical attention.
Bobby Bones
Okay, here's lunchboxes. 911 call.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Monday, December 25th.
911 Operator
The time is 8:31pm 911, what's your emergency?
Caller
Yeah, I need. I'm gonna need an ambulance for my mom. Okay, can you tell me what's going on? Yeah, my mom is just kind of disoriented. She feels really bad, like she's sweating. And my sister did the pulse finger thing, and her numbers are low. I guess it's an oxygen thing. I don't. A pedometer. I don't know the right name, but my sister just thinks it was better if she goes to the hospital.
911 Operator
Okay.
Caller
Is she conscious and breathing? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She. She's. She's She's a conscious and breathing. She's just having a really hard time getting around and she's just kind of out of it and I don't know, she feels really, really bad. Okay, we have an ambulance on the way now. They should be there shortly. Okay, and you got my address, right? My address is. I don't know if I said that earlier, if I'm. I don't know. I just want to make sure you have the address. Yes, we have your location. An ambulance is on the way. Thank you so much. And an ambulance will be on the way, right? Yes, they should be there soon. Okay, thank you so much.
Bobby Bones
I got two things I want to say. One, I feel like now he knows we're going to call and get this audio.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
Eddie
What do you mean? The way you're talking, I feel like,
Bobby Bones
you know, it's going to be used for a bit. So you're like, I got a thing I want to say to you.
Caller
Ambulance.
Eddie
Did he even say ambulance to the guy? Yeah. Okay.
Bobby Bones
The guy's like, is she okay? He's like, yeah, yeah, she's on the peloton right now.
Eddie
She's watching tv.
911 Operator
Yeah, man.
Bobby Bones
She's actually out in the yard.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, she. He asked worms. He asked me if she's breathing and conscious. And I said, yeah, she is. Like, she's having a hard time getting around.
Caller
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So they come. They don't turn the sirens on though, right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, there's no sirens, none of that. There's just little lights and then they just kind of drive away.
Bobby Bones
And the fire truck showed up first.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, because the fire truck is always the first one on the scene, man.
Colleen
Not always, but.
Bobby Bones
But if there's one close, it gets there first.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I mean, the fire stations, you know, a couple blocks.
Bobby Bones
Did you get in the back with her and ride to the hospital?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, that was Dad's job.
Bobby Bones
Did you chase my sister?
911 Operator
Did.
Bobby Bones
Okay. And you?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I stayed home.
Eddie
His job was done.
Colleen
He had the kids.
Bobby Bones
He called 91 1.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I did. I got the truck there and then I let them handle it. I was like, hey, from here, she's in your hands.
Colleen
Yeah. He had to do Christmas dinner, remember?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Don't you feel like at the beginning of this call, if we played it back, he knows he's on the air. Just how he starts talking to the guy. Ray, just give me like the first 10 seconds of this.
911 Operator
Monday, December 25th. The time is 8:31pm 91 1.
Caller
What's your emergency? Oh, yeah, I need. I'm Going to need an ambulance for my mom.
911 Operator
Okay.
Caller
Can you tell me what's going on? Yeah, my mom is just kind of disoriented. She feels really bad. Like she's sweating. And my sister.
Bobby Bones
It almost feels like one of the characters. He does.
Eddie
Yeah, like he's acting like.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, because.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
What do you mean when you're like
Bobby Bones
right now, even there's like a fake sincerity that he uses in his voice.
Eddie
What?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Like, I think my mom. No, no, no, that's concern.
Bobby Bones
There's disorientedness.
Eddie
This is for my mom.
Bobby Bones
It's the pulse.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I think that is concern for my mother.
Bobby Bones
Your voice now is doing the fake thing again.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't think so.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Eddie
I like the dispatcher guy. I think he, after three questions, he's like, okay, so this isn't a big deal.
Bobby Bones
Got it? Yes, she has a cold. Okay, but just so. But no, she's good now, right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, my mom's good, man.
Bobby Bones
And how long was she at the hospital?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
A day and a half.
Bobby Bones
That's a long time.
911 Operator
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Do they just have to hold her that long if she goes in?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, here's the thing. You don't. They can't legally just hold you. If she wanted to leave whenever she wanted, she could just leave. It's just they were running tests, you know what I mean, Checking her blood, giving her some fluids, giving her some steroids, some antibiotics, but she's good to go, man.
Bobby Bones
How long until she was good to go?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Probably about four hours, but, you know, the middle of the night, so she spent the night, got some sleep, and
Bobby Bones
sounds like she's wanna get away from the kids, all the kids in the house.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Minute too.
Bobby Bones
I'm glad she's better. Lunchbox. And good job, Scuba Steve on getting this 911 call.
Eddie
Heck, yeah. You know.
Bobby Bones
All right, a couple weeks back, we got a voicemail asking for advice. Here you go. We got a 911 dilemma. Would you guys call 911 if you
Caller
saw a car with probably a 1 to 2 year old out of their
Bobby Bones
car seat up, walking around, waving out
Caller
the back window, going probably 80 miles
Bobby Bones
an hour down the highway?
Caller
So that's the dilemma.
Bobby Bones
And spoiler alert, I did call 911, so. And they said that I should have called. I think I said I probably wouldn't have called in that situation. But Lunchbox talked about he saw a kid, not in a car seat, pulling out a drive through and he called 911 and I don't remember the story, and we definitely didn't have the audio. So you wouldn't track the audio down?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, no, no. I said I talked about this on air. And you're like, no, you didn't. And then Scuba hit me. He's like, I pulled the audio a long time ago. You never prepped it, so I just kept it. I didn't think you wanted to talk about it. I was like, oh, well, there you go.
Bobby Bones
Is it the audio of you actually calling? Yeah, yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Me calling 91 1.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Why did you not ever bring this to us? You forget?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I thought I did.
Bobby Bones
Hey, I could have been employee of the month stuff there.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yes. I call 911 a lot.
Eddie
Yeah, you do.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Like I look because I. I was like, I swear I talked about this. And Scuba was like, what do you
Bobby Bones
remember about this before you called?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I remember being in the drive through or picking up my to go order and walking out. I don't remember exactly if I was in the car, right? And they were pulling out of the drive through and there was kid in the car, not in the car seat, like, going back and forth. And I was like, man, that ain't good. They're about to pull out on the road.
911 Operator
Okay.
Bobby Bones
I just think most people that call 91 1, it happens so infrequently that you know exactly what was happening.
Eddie
Right?
Bobby Bones
But he comments so much, so much, he gets them confused. So here's the call of lunchbox. Do you use your voice where you're like, hey, I'm just like, dude, I don't know. Serious?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, no, There is no 911 voice.
Bobby Bones
Yes, you definitely have 91 voice. We've heard it. Okay, here we go. Here's lunches call.
911 Operator
Wednesday, March 6th, the time, 6:09pm 911 operator.
Caller
Yeah, man, I'm just leaving the Chick fil a over here on Rosa Parks. And as I was getting in my car, the I saw a car pulling out of the drive through, and it had what I would assume is a three to four year old just jumping up and down the front seat, not in a car seat. And I just wanted to see if we could get an officer to respond. Okay, Was this an abduction? No, no, it wasn't an abduction. Like, I just mean, like, it's. You know, kids are supposed to be in car seats. And I just saw.
Bobby Bones
So the guy reacted like I would have. Like, if something bad happened. Where's the emergency? Like, you're calling 901. How we get on this kidnapping? No, no, no, no.
Eddie
You're just tattletailing.
Bobby Bones
It just wasn't in.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay, but he's jumping up and down on the front seat. Oh, kids aren't even supposed to be in the front seat.
Bobby Bones
I hear you. I hear you. I just. Like he said, I would have thought somebody had been kidnapped.
Caller
Well that the kid was not in a car seat. And I felt like that was very unsafe. So I thought I would call you guys. Does he seem that. Is this car. Are they running lights? Is. Is it. Does it seem to be in an immediate danger? No, no. It was just like they were pulling out of the Chick Fil a drive thru. I was walking to my car from inside the restaurant and they were pulling out. And it's a great Honda Accord. And I can give you the license plate. I mean I can follow them if you need me to, right? No, no, there's no. It's not necessary to follow. We'll. We'll dispatch us for future reference only call the emergency line for imminent. Otherwise called a non emergency line. You do not under any circumstances need to follow that car and we will take care of it. We appreciate your call. Okay, thank you so much.
Bobby Bones
Did you feel like you got in trouble?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I felt like he was like saying this isn't an emergency, but it wasn't.
Bobby Bones
Now a cops gotta go check it out.
Eddie
They're not going to.
Bobby Bones
You don't think they even. No, no, no, no, no.
Eddie
The dispatcher is like, yeah, we're gonna send someone.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay.
Eddie
Not gonna do that.
Bobby Bones
You get in trouble, dude. That's maybe why you didn't tell us. Maybe you got embarrassed.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'm just telling you. And then he didn't want the license plate.
Bobby Bones
I'm like, no, because it's not something that he's gonna. Yeah, he never sent a cop, Eddie. You're right.
Eddie
He didn't even ask anyone.
Bobby Bones
You got ghosted by 91 1, dude.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But you need to.
Bobby Bones
I wish they would have sent a cop to you and gave you a. Like a verbal warning.
Eddie
Right.
Bobby Bones
For calling 91 1-Resources.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Guys, I see a 3 or 4 year old. A 3 or 4 year old doesn't have the decision making to get in the car seat or not. That is up to the parent. And when they are pulling out of the drive onto the road.
Bobby Bones
Not imminent danger though, which you could have called the. Whatever the non emergency number is. All right, what do we learn here? If it's not imminent danger, don't call. And you got in trouble. Which is hilarious to me.
Colleen

Mainstream media is full of crude depictions of the unhoused. Stories that shame and blame and paint the Unhoused as a monolith. We the Unhoused is the podcast that's changing that. I'm Theo Henderson, creator and host, and for years I've created a space where the unhoused and their advocates can tell their own stories. In the last few months alone, I've interviewed unhoused parents, immigrants, mutual aid organizers, veterans, the LGBQTIA community, and the policymakers who make the laws that impact the unhoused existence. We Unhouse is a two time Webby and Signal award winning show with many exciting guests on the horizon. Tune in this week for my interview with Dr. Gio Wicheric, a street doctor turned influencer whose work with the unhoused community has made a huge impact online and in her community. Lunchbox (Daniel)
Keith Giamanca seemed like a mild mannered
Bobby Bones
suburban dad, but secretly he became someone
Lunchbox (Daniel)
else, a master of disguise who went
Bobby Bones
on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about
Lunchbox (Daniel)
how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
Eddie
No.
Bobby Bones
I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Every family has its secrets, but what
Bobby Bones
happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life that
911 Operator
is not the look of an innocent man.
Bobby Bones
This is going to change my life

and my family dynamic forever, because everything
Lunchbox (Daniel)
that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue.

A decade ago, the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So we met with a lot of
Bobby Bones
larger farmers, went from Bahia to Tocatines to Mato Grosso.
911 Operator
And he brought a team of executives. They were going to help the country get in on a gold rush.
Caller
Carbon and its derivatives are going to be really the next great commodity that the globe's going to trade.
911 Operator
But back home in Iowa, trouble was brewing. If you live in Iowa, your land,
Colleen
your water, and your voice could all be at risk. Thanks to a man named Bruce Rastetter.
911 Operator
Now people are questioning if his climate solutions have anything to do with climate at all.
Caller
Gotta give Bruce and the guys credit.
911 Operator
They're Republicans. They don't give a about any of this. Now on this season of drilled carbon cowboys, the story of how the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil and what it tells us about the limits of technology and markets to solve the climate crisis. Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'm back, guys. I was driving the other day, driving my wife's car and pull up at a stoplight. I had to call 91 1.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I thought you meant like to the show. Oh, you called. Oh, no, he called 911 again.
Eddie
Well, maybe it was good.
Caller
No, no.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I didn't know if I was supposed to call 91 1, but I felt like it was 911 worthy.
Caller
I'm back.
Bobby Bones
I called 911 again. I'm back, guys.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'm sitting at a stoplight and like the car diagonal, you know what I mean? Like, so they're going the opposite direction. They stop at the red light and they pull up and they open the door and I'm oh, they're about to litter. They're about to litter and litter. They did they put cats out in the road? Oh, three little kitties.
Bobby Bones
They got rid of cats.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Absolutely. Little white ones, little gray with gray heads and I mean, one cat darting the road back on those and then into a grassy.
Bobby Bones
Cats get hit.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But I was like, guys, I don't know what to do, but I called 911.
Bobby Bones
Now here's the thing. I'm very sad about these Cats. I don't like that. I don't like these people for doing that. But how many times do you think you've called 911 in the past 10 years?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, at least 20.
Eddie
20 times.
Caller
Okay.
Eddie
Is this an emergency?
Colleen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Well, let's talk about it. Let's talk about it. Do we have the call?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
We got the call.
Bobby Bones
Here we go.
Eddie
Great.
911 Operator
Wednesday, July 26th. The time, 3:05pm 91 1.
Caller
I'm sitting at a red light and a car, like, I guess diagonal, they were going the other direction, pulled up at the red light, and they opened the door, and it looked like they were gonna throw some trash on the ground. But they. They let three kitties out of, like, three kittens out of their car, and they. They. And then they drove off. Oh, okay.
911 Operator
Okay. Well, sir, I'm gonna need you to.
Caller
Yeah. And like. Oh, one just. Oh, it darted into the road, but then it darted back to the side. Like, it. Like there's, like, a grassy field, like, right next to the road. Do I. Do I need.
911 Operator
Sir, okay, sir, sir, listen for a moment. Don't get out of the car. Don't get out of the car and put yourself in danger. I can send an officer over to the scene right now. Animal control will be there shortly as well. Don't get out of the car. Don't try to help.
Caller
Okay? Do I need to follow the car? Like, it was like a white. Like I. I would say, like maybe a Jeep Cherokee or a Honda Pilot or is an suv?
911 Operator
No, sir. No, sir.
Caller
Just.
911 Operator
No, sir. Just. Just, Just be right there till the police come or animal control comes.
Caller
Those poor kitties are like. Oh, man. Oh. They're darting back and forth. Oh, okay. They dart back. Yes, sir.
911 Operator
Listen to me. Listen to me. The thing about this is you don't know if these kitties, if these kittens are infected or what their situation is. And they can be very dangerous. When somebody in a situation like this, they can scratch you. So you could escalate the situation. Just sit there, stay in your car. The officer will be there shortly.
Caller
Okay, thank you so much.
911 Operator
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
A couple things I'd like to say. First of all, your heart was in the right place. I love it. Second of all, I now think that you do bits on 91 1. What do you mean, you know we're gonna get the call? Because we'll do the. We can request it. Freedom Information. And I know that you know we're gonna get the call. So I think you do bits on 911 now. I think you probably would have called anyway. Or you'd have called Animal Control, which is probably the way to do it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't know how to call Animal Control.
Bobby Bones
Google, what's the number to Animal Control?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I didn't know they had a number, but I do.
Bobby Bones
I'm gonna say, good for you for doing that. I don't think that's an emergency because you could have went and just pulled over and get the cats and have
Lunchbox (Daniel)
you seen how fast those things are?
Bobby Bones
What, the kittens?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
The kittens. You couldn't catch a kitten if I threw it.
Bobby Bones
You're out of your mind. A kitten I can catch?
Colleen
No, they're pretty fast.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, you.
Bobby Bones
I catch a kitten, I can beat up a kangaroo.
Eddie
Here we go.
Bobby Bones
Secondly, my point is, good for you. But again, I think you do bits on 9. 1 1.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Now. What was the bit?
Bobby Bones
You're interrupting her, too? And he's like, yeah, you sound like Gibbles. And he's like, kitty. Kitty. He doesn't say kitty.
Eddie
Right.
Bobby Bones
He's doing that for effect. And then.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Should I follow him?
Bobby Bones
He knows the answer is going to be no. He knows.
Eddie
It sounded like a prank call.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That's no. I like to follow.
Bobby Bones
I know, but you know the thing.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Right? But you know, But I always say no.
Bobby Bones
She's going to say no.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
What if she says, yeah, can you get the license plate?
Colleen
But that's really the, like, why I think it's 911 worthy.
911 Operator
This.
Colleen
These people are committing a crime.
Eddie
Well, yeah, but that's not always an emergency.
Bobby Bones
Okay, I. I'm glad you did it. I go thumbs up, but bear, like, if gladiator. You know, thumbs down.
911 Operator
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I give it a thumb, middle, slightly up.
911 Operator
Okay.
Bobby Bones
But you're also doing bits during the call now because you're so comfortable with calling.
Colleen
She's like, I'm being recorded.
Bobby Bones
Scooby's gonna get this. I'm gonna do a funny bit, and then you can call animal Control. Did you. Did the cats get saved?
Caller
I don't know.
Bobby Bones
But you didn't even. You had to go, man, he's doing a bit. He's doing a bit.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Like, I don't know how long it's gonna take them for to get there.
Bobby Bones
So, like, did you care about the cats?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I did.
Bobby Bones
But then how quickly until you left?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
About 10 minutes.
Bobby Bones
You waited 10 minutes?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
911 Operator
Good for you.
Bobby Bones
Then I take back a little bit of what I said.
Colleen
I thought it was interesting. She's worried, like, the cats might be infected and can scratch him.
Bobby Bones
She also laughed at him Giggle because she knew.
Colleen
I mean. So yeah, I hadn't thought about that part. But it makes me think of like that man that got out to help the ducks cross the road in California and then he got hit by a car.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So it is good that he stayed
Colleen
in your car because if you're darting back and forth trying to rescue the
Bobby Bones
kitties, I like it though. I give you a slightly thumbs up.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I get a capital H for hero.
Bobby Bones
But you didn't lowercase for hero and then no R or oh, you're just he he. I'm gonna play you Lunchbox's 911 call. We went and tracked it down. Freedom of information. We can call and get it. So I'm gonna play it. But give us the reset on what happened and what you saw.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I'm gonna do an easy version this time. There was a car driving down the road and it was a red pickup truck. It ran a red light and it T boned a car. That car spun and hit a car in the lane next to it. So three car collision on the road.
Bobby Bones
Most of the time when he calls, we're like, dude, you shouldn't have called for that. Once he called for a kid not wearing a seatbelt.
Eddie
So dumb.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But pulling out of the drive thru onto a busy road, this I felt
Bobby Bones
like was a real reason for him to call. But then he starts to act like he was wearing a business suit and talking like a businessman. Really like actually. 91 1. What has happened was the. But we want to hear how he sounds, right? Ready?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yep.
Caller
Go.
911 Operator
Saturday, October 5th. The time is 10:30am 91 1.
Caller
What's your emergency? Yeah, I was just calling to report a wreck. I just saw a wreck. Okay. Were you involved in the wreck?
Bobby Bones
Do you need medical assistance?
Caller
No, I wasn't involved in the wreck. I was driving on Gallatin, right. And going westbound in a truck. Red truck ran a red light and like hit another car and kind of spun it out. Okay, Gallatin and what is the location of the accident? Gallatin and Trinity.
Bobby Bones
All right, is there anyone there in
Caller
need of an ambulance or medical attention? I didn't. I'm still driving. I saw the wreck, but I have somewhere to be. So I saw the driver of the truck get out and walk around. So I don't know if anybody is hurt, but I just saw that me and like he hit the car and then kind of the car spun and hit another car. So there's three cars total. There was a lot of debris in the road, like headlights and like stuff like that. Just be aware. Yep. Yeah, we have. We have our systems on route. Okay. Thank you so much, man. Okay. Thank you.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Solid call.
Bobby Bones
I give it a B plus.
Colleen
And he actually sounded a little bit normal because sometimes he goes way too much, like, you know, over the top
Bobby Bones
with like a fine, like a British accent. We're like, did you have to do that? Yeah, I will say B plus. Great job. You should have called. So. And all the times we say, you shouldn't have.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
Excellent.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Pat on the back.
Bobby Bones
The two things that came off kind of funny, uh, oh, I couldn't stop at somewhere to be.
Eddie
I don't know, man.
Bobby Bones
And you could have just. It was just funny to say, well,
Lunchbox (Daniel)
he asked me, does anybody need medical assistance? And I didn't know. I mean, I don't know if they do because I'm not there.
Bobby Bones
Could have said, I'm not sure. That's it. I just kept driving. It didn't feel safe to stop or something. Not, that's somewhere to be. That was funny. And I know you didn't mean for that to be funny.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I wasn't trying to be funny. I was trying to be serious.
Bobby Bones
And there was another part of it, too, where I laughed.
Colleen
Oh, yeah, debris.
Eddie
No, just be aware of it. I like that.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, be aware. Like, he's giving him heads up. There's three car pile up, but there's debris. Be aware.
Eddie
And the call, the operator, like, we got it.
Bobby Bones
No, good job, though. Like, we were just picking up.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, there was. There was like broken headlights and taillights.
Bobby Bones
Debris.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
We heard.
Bobby Bones
And you know what? They might.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, I was. I was headed west.
Bobby Bones
The cops might have been like, hey, guys, get to this wreck. Don't worry about being aware. Apparently it's all clear. But they didn't because you said, be aware.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, and see, that's why I tried to explain to you guys the first time is because I knew I was going west. So I was trying to tell you guys, this guy's going to eat. But it didn't really make sense.
Bobby Bones
That's the most mature 911 call you've ever made. And all we could pick out of it were a couple funny things that you said, not how over the top you were trying to sound.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay.
Eddie
I am curious, though. When you make these calls, do you think in the back of your mind, like, they're going to play this on the show?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I don't, dude. I'm just thinking about saving lives.
Bobby Bones
No, he definitely wants it to be played on the show. That's why he brings it up as a bit because we had no idea. And so I wonder if he's also starting to, like, train himself to be more professional because he knows we're gonna play it on the show.
Colleen
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, it's just. It happens in the moment, man. You grab the phone, you call and whatever.
Bobby Bones
Exciting to call.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It's pretty exciting. Because when they answer that phone, you're like, oh, man, this is my moment.
Bobby Bones
Like, to do what?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Make a difference.
Bobby Bones
Got it.
Eddie
I like that.
Bobby Bones
And we all want to make a
Lunchbox (Daniel)
difference, save a life.
Bobby Bones
And I think you made a difference even if you had somewhere else to be.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
You know what my saying is? See something, say something.
Bobby Bones
That's a good saying. Yeah. Unless you have somewhere to be and then you just. Who cares?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, no. I saw something, said something, but I didn't stop.
Bobby Bones
Good point.
Caller
So since Lunchbox got in the wreck, does he have no cars? Did he get a car? Does his wife not have a car? What's the whole story on that later part?
Bobby Bones
Tour. Okay, so for those that don't know, Lunchbox's car broke down, like, two years ago. He never got another car. He started riding his bike to work, and he was like, why do I need a car? So then you were driving the family suv?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I was driving the family suv, Got in a very serious car wreck. Lucky to be alive, escape with no injuries. Car was going 60. Nailed me in the back.
Bobby Bones
I saw someone comment, if it was stop and go traffic, how did you get hit by Somebody going 60? Were you at the very back of the stop and go traffic?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yep. Huh.
Bobby Bones
The odds.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Okay, I know the odds. Like, it was literally, like it was just starting to bottle up, and I came upon it, and then boom, Boom.
Bobby Bones
So what's the deal on the car?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Car is so my wife. That is her car. So we will be getting a rental.
Bobby Bones
So that's it. That's the one car you guys have. And it's beat up.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It's beat up.
Bobby Bones
So how. How are you guys getting anywhere?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It's drivable. It pulls a little bit, right?
Eddie
Yeah. That's not good.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I know it's not great, but it does pull a little bit. Right. But talk to the insurance and working on getting a rental. Hopefully today or tomorrow. They are setting it up at the rental car place, and I go pick up a rental car.
Bobby Bones
Do you want to Hear lunchbox is 911 call?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yes.
Bobby Bones
So we're able to go and contact them and get it. And so this is the call of Lunchbox after the Accident hit it.
Colleen
Friday, January 9th. The time is 4:20pm 91 1.
911 Operator
What's your emergency?
Caller
Yes, ma'. Am. I was. I was just in a wreck.
911 Operator
Okay, where are you located?
Caller
65 northbound, right before the Moore's Lane exit.
911 Operator
Okay, is anybody with you?
Caller
No, I'm by myself. Oh, man.
Colleen
Oh, gosh.
911 Operator
Okay. And where was your vehicle hit?
Caller
I got rear ended. It was like I was slowing down. Like it's kind of, you know, stop and go traffic.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
And I mean, the car hit me
Caller
just boom, right in the back.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, didn't even.
Caller
Didn't hit the brakes.
911 Operator
Okay, what kind of vehicle do you have?
Caller
It's a Toyota Highlander, and I'm. I'm pulled over on the right shoulder.
911 Operator
Do you have any injuries? Are you okay?
Caller
I get. My back's just. I mean, I wouldn't say injury. It's just. I can feel it's a little tight, a little sore, but.
911 Operator
Was anyone else injured in maybe the other vehicle? Have you spoken with anybody?
Caller
I don't know. Their. Their car became disabled right when it hit me, and it's about 100 yards back and it's still in the middle of the lane. And I. I don't know if they're okay, but I haven't. I can't see them.
911 Operator
Okay, we're going to send over EMS right away.
Caller
All right, thank you so much.
Bobby Bones
Can I ask you a question? I don't want you to take offense to this at all.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Go ahead.
Bobby Bones
Just genuine. When you're calling 911 now, do you know that we have access to it? And so do you do a bit when you call? Yes, because you're doing even sound effects with her. You're like. And they were going. And boom, they hit me. Do you know?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No. That's literally what I said. I don't understand.
Bobby Bones
No, no. I just am asking because she. If you're being performative because, you know, anytime you call, we track it down.
Colleen
And then you're also, like, between every sentence.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, man, that's my back hurting.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah. No, I completely see why you would react the way you did.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Like, she was asking me. I. I felt like she was asking me, like, what happened? And I was trying to explain. Like, I was sitting there and boom, I got hit in the back.
Bobby Bones
Like, you didn't even mention your smoothie.
Colleen
I know. He was like, I'm driving alone and I'm like, no, no, no.
Bobby Bones
You had a smoothie dripping all over me.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I don't feel like that was 911 material. I don't think she needed to know about my smoothie. Like, if she would have said, hey, was there any explosions in your car? I'd have said, yeah, man. My smoothie.
Bobby Bones
Banana.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Strawberry right now. Peanut butter.
Caller
Banana.
Bobby Bones
Oh, yellow.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, it was. I mean, it is so gross, man. So, yeah, I don't think I was. I'm telling you, like, it was just like I was trying to move around, and I was just like, ah, that does kind of hurt. You know, just testing out to see how my body felt.
Eddie
You. You have a good point. Because, like, in the past, we've had calls and it's been like, oh, yeah, my. There's someone here.
Colleen
Whatever.
Bobby Bones
This one's more like, yeah, he's doing a bit.
Caller
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I'm surprised he didn't go. That was your bonehead story of the day.
Eddie
He even threw in kind of like a.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Let's just say. No, I didn't.
Eddie
Yeah, you said something like that. That you would normally say when you're doing it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I said. I said, I don't know. The car is 100 yards back because it became disabled when it hit me. Like, she asked me if anybody else was hurt in that car.
Bobby Bones
We're glad you're okay.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I. I didn't know.
Bobby Bones
We're glad you're okay. I just genuinely wonder if you're calling 911 because you do so much that you know we're gonna go track it down so you perform a little more.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I didn't even think I was performing. I thought I was just talking.
Bobby Bones
You were.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I was kind of in. What do you call that? Shock.
Colleen
Shock. Thank you.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Let's just say. Well, I mean, that adrenaline, like, whoa. Like, oh, my gosh. What just happened?
Colleen
Yeah, that.
Caller
That.
Colleen
That I believe for sure. But also, when you. Any chance you get an opportunity to call 91 1, do you get a little excited? Like, are you, like.
Bobby Bones
Because you love calling 911.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It's really cool.
Eddie
Ooh.
Bobby Bones
Like a rush, you know? You're taking Cialis. Does it feel the same when you call 91 1?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I'm not taking Cialis for that.
Bobby Bones
But you are taking Cialis.
Colleen
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I am on Cialis.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Are you on it right now?
Colleen
Side effects or side effects, please.
Eddie
You're not on it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I am on it right now.
Bobby Bones
Oh, no, no.
Eddie
Why would you do that?
Caller
That's the thing.
Colleen
It's not like your body knows, like, oh, this is only supposed to be used for this.
Eddie
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It said take this once a day
Bobby Bones
and take it after the show, after work. Take your Cialis. When you're not around us, Colleen.
Colleen
He's on Cialis and he hurt himself on 911. Oh, my gosh.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Double rush.
Bobby Bones
He's about to explode. Lunchbox had to call 911 again.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, what's the story, man? We were driving, had the family in the car. And there's a median in the middle. And I look over in the westbound lanes, there is a car sideways. Axle is broken. Windshield wipers are going. It's not raining out. The car's still running, and it's blocking half a lane of traffic. And I'm like, man, something's wrong. And I'm driving, and no one's, something's wrong?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, dude, you think something's wrong?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So I told the wife, I was like, I gotta make a ue. And I was like, give me the phone. And I got called 911. I was like, hey, we got a situation here. Wreck car. And they're like, is anybody in the vehicle? And so they made me get out and go look in the vehicle.
Bobby Bones
No way.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah. There was no one in the vehicle.
Bobby Bones
Oh, they had you get out and go look in. So you're the first person to call then?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I was the first one to call.
Eddie
There was no one there.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No one there.
Caller
Weird.
Bobby Bones
Door open, windshield wipers moving.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yep.
Eddie
Axle broken.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Axle broken. Front right, axle broken. Snap. It was turned sideways, and it was blocking half a lane of traffic. Like, it was halfway into the lane, and it was like the entrance right up to the highway.
Bobby Bones
So then what happens?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
So then I call 911, I tell them where I'm at, and they're like, okay, did you see anybody run from the vehicle? I'm like, no, I just saw the vehicle. They asked me for the make, the license plate, and they said, we'll get officers right out to you. And then me, worried that someone was going to crash into it. I blocked the lane of traffic. I stayed there till the cops arrived.
Eddie
With your body or your car?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
The car.
Eddie
Okay.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
And people were still pulling up. Be like, getting. Going around our vehicle, getting up behind it and honking at it like, guys, it's turned sideways. I don't think it's going anywhere.
Bobby Bones
Your kids in the car?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Were they in the car while you're blocking traffic?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So someone could have ran to your car with your kids in it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
They could have.
Bobby Bones
You didn't get them out.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It's safer to stay in the car.
Bobby Bones
But if you're blocking traffic, though, is it still safe?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But, I mean, I had my flashers on, so they Would see me.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, how this end. The state trooper showed up or whatever, and he was like, were you the driver? And I was like, no, man. I just came upon the vehicle, and I thought, you know, something bad had happened. And he goes, all right, thanks for being a good citizen.
Eddie
No.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
And then they took over from there.
Bobby Bones
Key to the city.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Nope. And I drove off.
Eddie
That make you feel good when he said that?
Caller
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Being a good citizen.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I was like, no. And then I was blocked. I was just, you know, blocking it so no one came up on it and ran into it. You know, it didn't want people. Another accident. He goes, thanks for being a good citizen.
Bobby Bones
That's pretty cool, though.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But now, question.
Bobby Bones
What's your theory?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
My theory was it was a stolen car, they wrecked it, and they said, oh, we're out of here strong.
Bobby Bones
What's your question?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Was that valid, 911?
Eddie
Yeah, 100%.
Bobby Bones
This is the one that's valid.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yes, yes.
Eddie
Like, as you were explaining everything, I was thinking, yeah, you have to call 911 when you see this.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's valid. Yeah. Good for you. It's a good citizen there, man.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
How. How crazy is that?
Bobby Bones
What if someone would have been in it, like, struggling? Do you made the news, dude. Do you wish someone had been in struggling so you could have made the news, like, hurt?
Caller
No.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, okay. Like a broken leg.
Bobby Bones
Broken leg. Maybe like some contusions, but not.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That's fine.
Bobby Bones
And you have to pull them out.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
That have been good.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
But my initial thought. Yeah, I was like, oh, I don't want to see that. I don't want to see that.
Bobby Bones
But you went in anyway.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I went in it because they asked me. They said, is anybody in the car? And I was like, I don't know. And they go, can you look, Scuba
Bobby Bones
Steve, you gotta go dig this one out.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, yeah, I'm working on it for you.
Bobby Bones
All 911 calls are public. You go in, we'll get it. Do you feel good about us getting it?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, I mean, I feel like a hero.
Bobby Bones
Like, you told the story the real way.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I told it the real way.
Bobby Bones
Then, hey, he almost saved a life. If one would have needed saved, you'd have been there. That's a good citizen.
Eddie
Yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Thanks for being a good citizen, man.
Bobby Bones
Lunchbox had to call 911 because he saw a car turned over on its side on the highway. Is that true?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It was not on its side. It was turned sideways with a broken axle.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I thought it was on its side. Did you guys not think that?
Eddie
No.
Bobby Bones
Like, turned over.
Eddie
It's like it blocked the road. Like, it was sideways on the guys.
Bobby Bones
I, in my mind, I mean, I
Colleen
kind of was picturing that, too.
Bobby Bones
I thought it was dumped over on its side. How dramatic. He was talking about it.
911 Operator
Huh?
Colleen
That's okay, though.
Bobby Bones
Okay. He called 911 and we have the call.
Colleen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So. Because what, what are you groaning about?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, no, but now you're, now you're kind of, like, thinking it wasn't as big a deal that I didn't need to call 91 1. I, I can.
Colleen
No, I think.
Bobby Bones
I think you still should have.
Caller
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I felt by your description, the car had, like, flipped over on its side.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Got it. Yeah, maybe. I, I don't know. I, I, I just thought it was very serious because it was sideways, I guess.
Bobby Bones
Okay, here's the. Here is the 911 call that we have now obtained.
911 Operator
Go ahead, 91 1. What's your emergency? Do you need fire medical?
Caller
There's a. I'm driving and I'm heading westbound on McGavock Pike. On the opposite side. Right there where the Loop de Loo is getting on the highway for 65 north, there's a wrecked vehicle that spun sideways, and it looks like it has a broken axle, and it's. And the windshield wipers are going. And the back rear door is open.
911 Operator
You tell if there's anyone in the
Caller
car doing a U turn right now to kind of go back and just.
911 Operator
Are you able to go up to the car and look inside it?
Caller
I can. I'm okay. There's no one in the car, and it's just sitting here.
911 Operator
Are there any weapons or.
Caller
No, but it's a. It's a black. License plate is B.
911 Operator
We have someone coming out there right now. Are you able to be safe, stay somewhere safe and out of traffic?
Caller
Yes. I don't. Do I need to say, or can I. I mean, I can say, yeah, I can sit in the car, stay
911 Operator
somewhere safe, and we'll have somebody come out there soon. Thank you.
Caller
All right. Thank you.
Bobby Bones
I thought you sounded pretty mature about it. You did want to leave. You have somewhere to get to?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I didn't really have anywhere to get to, but, like, I mean, I didn't know if I needed to be there. Like, I, I don't know. It was just. I was just checking, and then once you kind of said, can you be safe? I was like, you know what? I should probably block traffic, because that is, like, there. And cars could come up and Hit it.
Bobby Bones
Oh, she never told you to block traffic?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, no, I just did that as my, like, service. Yeah, My. My observation of the situation was, man, I feel like people could hit this car because it's turned sideways and you won't see it till the last minutes. Kind of dark outside. And that's good.
Bobby Bones
Good for him, too. I never know if I'm going east or west or north or south.
Colleen
That same.
Bobby Bones
That's me.
Colleen
Because I'm like.
Bobby Bones
I thought, shout out lunchbox for knowing what freaking direction he was going to.
Colleen
Yeah, I was impressed by that as well.
Bobby Bones
But it was met quickly with Loop de loo.
Colleen
Yeah.
Eddie
And no kids in the car lunchbox because they were so quiet.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, they. They know to be quiet when I'm on the phone there.
Colleen
They know.
Caller
They know What?
Bobby Bones
He's calling 91 1.
Eddie
Serious business.
Bobby Bones
That's something. Kids. You know, I'm about to call 911 for the third time today. So please be quiet. Please be quiet and.
911 Operator
Wait a minute.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Is that not what you guys called a loop de Loo? What do you call that?
Colleen
I mean, I guess a roundabout. No, it's not a roundabout.
Bobby Bones
It's the loop to get.
Colleen
I know where he's talking about. And it is. It's like a. You Loop de Loo to get on the highway. I don't know how else to say it.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, the loop.
Colleen
You loop the highway. Ramp.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Loop.
Bobby Bones
The loop. Access road.
Colleen
The loopy ramp.
Bobby Bones
I'm not even hating on him. I just think that's a funny thing. I thought you did good there.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Thank you, guys.
Bobby Bones
Any notes?
Eddie
It just sounds like someone who calls
Bobby Bones
911 a lot, like, he's good at it.
Eddie
They know he knows exactly what to
Colleen
say, but he's calm. He's Daniel. He's not zany. Lunchbox.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Great point.
Eddie
That's right.
Bobby Bones
Amy got it.
Colleen
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So Lunchbox does not call 911.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, I do call 9 1.
Bobby Bones
Daniel does.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, my God.
Colleen
Definitely giving Daniel.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Eddie
Hey.
Bobby Bones
Well, I. To Daniel. Civil service award.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
There we go.
911 Operator
Great.
Bobby Bones
Did anybody ever come back to the car ever?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
No, the. The police showed up.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, but the people who wrecked it, they just took off running.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Yeah, they were gone.
Eddie
You think it was stolen?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
It was either stolen. Maybe they. I have no idea. I. I assume stolen. Or maybe they were under the influence, like, I'm out of here.
Bobby Bones
If there would have been a bunch of cash in the back seat just laying there, oh, I'd have grabbed it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I mean, no doubt, because there's no one There. They obviously left it, and they're not coming back for it, so why would I not?
Bobby Bones
Whenever you are starting to call 91 1, is that, like, a fun rush?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, it is. It's like. And I say, all right, everybody quiet. I got. I got to call. I got to call the police.
Eddie
Lunchbox, are you appalled that no one else stopped like that? You're the only hero out there.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I am shocked. How many cars drove by that car without stopping. Like, nobody. Like, I drove past it, and I'm looking, and no one's stopping. That's when I hit the 911 and hit the UE because I was like, I can't believe no one's stopping. And what's crazy is, even when I was sitting there blocking it, people would go around us and then get like. And the cars turned sideways and they pull up to it and start honking. Like, guys, the car is sideways.
Bobby Bones
Like, nobody's in it, right?
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Axle is broken and you're honking.
Bobby Bones
What do you want to be when
Lunchbox (Daniel)
you grow up, man?
Bobby Bones
You know, because you love this type thing.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
I do. I feel like I could be an investigative reporter.
Eddie
Oh, a reporter. I thought like a detective.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Well, a detective is same. I mean, one of those, like, I love to show up the first one on the scene and be like. To be able to figure out what happened.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Because when I saw the rear door opened, man, I thought bad things. I thought it was like, you know, a robbery gone wrong.
Bobby Bones
We should try to accumulate all of Lunchbox's 911 calls and just do kind of like a podcast special on it.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Oh, gosh.
Bobby Bones
And go back, because we have a lot of them. Can you make a note to see if we can dig up all of us? 9 1. We rate them. He's got it. He got them all on his phone. Okay, but good job, Lunchbox. That was a good call.
Lunchbox (Daniel)
Thank you.
Bobby Bones
And there you have it. Some of Lunchbox's greatest calls to 911. Whether you think he's a concerned citizen or just a guy who loves to call 911, one thing is for certain. If something unusual happens, Lunchbox is probably already picking up the phone to call 91 1. Thanks for listening to this special episode. See you guys.
911 Operator
91 1, what is your emergency? This is an iHeart podcast.
Bobby Bones

Episode: FRI PT 1: Lunchbox’s Greatest 911 Calls Special: Through The Years!
Date: July 3, 2026
Host: Bobby Bones (Premiere Networks)
Main Cast: Lunchbox (Daniel), Eddie, Colleen, Scuba Steve
This special episode of The Bobby Bones Show is all about one of the show’s most notorious running gags: Lunchbox’s persistent, sometimes confusing, and often entertaining calls to 911. Featuring audio from real emergency calls Lunchbox has made over the years, the team debates whether he’s a “hero” or a “Karen”—or just someone who likes to be close to the action (and possibly set up a radio bit). The episode is a blend of genuine concern, comic exaggeration, and some self-reflection as each call is examined for its purpose and the reactions they triggered.
"Today we're looking back at one of Lunchbox’s favorite hobbies. Calling 911. That's right, it's the 911 special." (Bobby Bones, 02:42)"I call it in emergency situations. When I see something, I'm the first to call 911." (Lunchbox)"I'd like to report a robbery." (Lunchbox as Caller, 05:00)"A robbery is when someone is like, using force or threatening. So that means someone is in their presence." (Colleen, 06:42)"Not a robbery, a burglary." (Lunchbox, 07:06)"Yes, ma'am. I'd like to report a domestic disturbance at 14th and Shelby." (Lunchbox as Caller, 09:17)"Sir, once again, I need to advise you to quit following them for your safety.""Did you think it was a little more intense in your mind?" (Bobby, 11:42)"Yeah, I did. I felt like it was like a high speed chase in a movie." (Lunchbox, 11:45)Several calls cover this theme:
"Yes, ma'am. I need to report...an accident. A car at. Between. On Shelby between 19th and 20th." (Lunchbox as Caller)"Sir, just sit down on the curb. He's getting out of the truck." (Lunchbox relaying instructions, 16:30)"Thank you for helping. Sir. I'm going to dispatch fire and police. They should be there any minute.""Yes ma'am. I'm driving and there's a white truck in front of me is all over the road..." (Lunchbox)"I felt like she was just annoyed with me the whole time." (Lunchbox, 21:37)"She got all the information she can possibly get from Lunchbox." (Eddie, 23:35)"Yeah, I need. I'm gonna need an ambulance for my mom." (Lunchbox as Caller)"Her numbers are low. I guess it’s an oxygen thing. A pedometer. I don't know the right name...""An ambulance is on the way. Thank you so much.""I feel like now he knows we're going to call and get this audio." (Bobby, 27:51)"I think that is concern for my mother." (Lunchbox, 29:50)"Was this an abduction?" No, no, it wasn't an abduction..." (Dispatch/Lunchbox, 32:50)"For future reference only call the emergency line for imminent [danger]. Otherwise call a non-emergency line.""They let three kitties out of, like, three kittens out of their car and drove off." (Lunchbox, 41:52)"Those poor kitties...they're darting back and forth." (Lunchbox)"Yeah, I was just calling to report a wreck. I just saw a wreck.""That's the most mature 911 call you've ever made." (Bobby, 49:13)"I was just in a wreck." (Lunchbox, 51:37)"She asked me...what happened? And I was trying to explain. Like, I was sitting there and boom, I got hit in the back." (Lunchbox, 53:02)"Is anybody in the vehicle?...No one there." (Lunchbox, 56:23-56:33)"Thanks for being a good citizen, man." (Trooper to Lunchbox, 57:57)"When you're calling 911 now, do you know that we have access to it? And so do you do a bit when you call?" (Bobby, 52:50)"I didn't even think I was performing. I thought I was just talking." (Lunchbox, 54:40)"It's really cool." (Lunchbox, 55:06)"Oh, it is. It's like. And I say, all right, everybody quiet. I got. I got to call. I got to call the police." (Lunchbox, 64:05)"I could be an investigative reporter...I love to show up the first one on the scene and...figure out what happened." (Lunchbox, 64:59)"This guy gives it to one individual. I give it to multiple...why am I not on the news?" (Lunchbox, 13:08)Bobby wraps up the special by joking that Lunchbox’s 911 calls could become their own podcast—because there are so many. Whether you see him as a vigilant citizen or as someone hunting for radio content, Lunchbox’s exploits always deliver memorable radio.
| Type of Incident | Team Verdict | Reasoning/Comments | |-------------------------|----------------------|-----------------------------------------| | Car Break-in | Not 911-worthy | Better for non-emergency line | | Domestic Disturbance | 911-worthy | Immediate safety risk | | Drunk Driver | 911-worthy | Potentially dangerous, immediate risk | | Medical—Mom's health | Borderline | Should weigh severity; not for minor | | Kid with no car seat | Non-emergency | No immediate/imminent threat | | Dumped kittens | Non-emergency | Animal control preferred | | Live traffic accidents | 911-worthy | Genuine emergencies | | Vehicle hazards (empty) | 911-worthy | Blocking traffic, safety hazard |
For anyone who’s missed the episode, this summary covers all the highlights, most entertaining debates, and the essence of why Lunchbox keeps (and probably will keep) calling 911 until further notice.
