Listen to my legacy on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is my legacy. Wake up, wake up in the morning. Then you turn the radio on and the dial just keeps on turning his wigs. Next bit and Bobby's on the mic. So you know what this is?
Dierks Bentley
This is the Bobby Bones on the Bobby Bones Show.
Bobby Bones
Now, Dirk Spentley, I love him. So Dirk Spentley got a new song out today called she Hates Me.
Dierks Bentley
You got a new studio? Yeah, first time.
Bobby Bones
We built it just for you. We leave and go back to the old one today. It's Valentine's Day. I want to get to the point about this song. I want to play it.
Dierks Bentley
Sure.
Bobby Bones
Obviously, some strategy here, because that's like a breakup song, right?
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, it's like an anti Day Valentine's Day song, I guess. Anti Valentine's Day.
Bobby Bones
And you. You wrote it?
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, I wrote it with. With Ashley Gourley and Ross. Our buddy Ross Copperman and Chase McGill. It wasn't really meant to be. You know, we were writing some songs that day and hoping to get to another song. We just finished one, and we were taking a little break, and, you know, this kind of started. Someone started playing the guitar and started playing this riff, and then this song kind of started happening, and it's kind of like, are we really going to write this. This song? And then. All right, let's write it. So we wrote in about 30 minutes and moved on to the next real song, and then this one just kind of stuck around. Wasn't really my pick for the first single initially, because I usually lean towards more serious songs. Even going back to what was I Thinking? I didn't want that to be a single, but I just. It just was meant to be. And the fact that it's coming out on Valentine's Day is pretty. Pretty funny.
Bobby Bones
Okay, we're gonna play it. We'll get right to business then. We're gonna have fun in a minute. But, yeah, we. Oh, dude, do we have some fun planned for you. Bring in the cupids. Bring in the dancing cupids.
Dierks Bentley
Wow.
Bobby Bones
On the Bobby Bones show now, Dirk spentley making fun of our headphones. We were playing Dirk's a song, and we're, like, celebrating it, and he goes, his headphones are for 1982.
Dierks Bentley
Well, the lunchbox is a lot nicer model there. It's like.
Bobby Bones
They're the same, really. All right. Similar.
Lunchbox
Mine are definitely nicer. Softer.
Dierks Bentley
Softer.
Bobby Bones
He's.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, he's got the foam inserts.
Bobby Bones
Valentine's Day, buddy. You all right?
Dierks Bentley
I'm good. Yeah. This is. I've never really liked this holiday a whole lot anyway, so. Yeah, it's just, you know, I used to have gigs back in the day at Station Inn, where we had, like, the. The anti Day anti Valentine's Day party had dressed black to get in, and it's just such a Hallmark holiday. I don't know. What do you think, Amy? You love this one or.
Amy
I'm. I'm. I'm not the most romantic person.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Amy
So I'm just sort of neutral about it.
Bobby Bones
Are you committing the character, though? Because your song's a breakup song. I feel like right now, he's Daniel Day Lewis. He's Lincoln. He's staying in character.
Amy
He's wearing, like, wearing all black.
Dierks Bentley
I feel like for guys out there, it's a tough holiday because. Let's say you're dating somebody. I'm sure lunch can. Can help me on this. When you're dating somebody, the relationship's going pretty good. It's all right. And all of a sudden, this checkpoint shows up. You got to pass through, like, okay, it's Valentine's Day. Do I get her the car? Do we go for jewelry? Are we gonna. You know, if I say the wrong thing, it. It derails us. If I put too much into it now, we're like, way ahead of where I wanted this thing to be. It's kind of. It's just. It's not. It really can trip you up. So. I've never been a huge fan of it. At my house, every day is Valentine's Day.
Bobby Bones
Now we're talking. He's back, boys. He's not method acting anymore. He's back.
Dierks Bentley
My house with Cas is home listening. She knows every day is Valentine's Day.
Bobby Bones
But can you grace us with a love story of meeting your wife?
Dierks Bentley
Yeah. So I knew my wife in eighth grade. I always kind of had a crush on her. But then we went separate ways. Long story short, I was playing a show opening for George Strait in Las Vegas in February 5th of 2005, and she was going to come out just as a friend. I was like, yeah, we tried to date. It just wasn't meant to be and. But I always liked her. She's one of my favorite people to be around. I was like, yeah, come to the show. So I'm on the back of my bus, the same bus that I still have. I'm watching the movie Old School for the millionth time. This is pre iPhone. This is 2005. You had to watch DVDs and stuff to entertain ourselves. And she walked on the bus, and I knew the second she walked on that we were gonna get married. I just had. It was like, just.
Bobby Bones
What do you mean you knew?
Dierks Bentley
It's kinda like the first time I heard Hank Jr. I just, like, knew I was gonna be a country singer. I just. When she walked on the bus, I just. I was like, we're getting married. I just added something.
Bobby Bones
When did she know that?
Amy
Right.
Dierks Bentley
Well, she found out later that year when I was back in Las Vegas playing the last show of the year. And I wake up next Morning. And my buddy Lee came in, who does a lot of styling. He style stuff for clothing for me. Still works with Luke Bryan.
Bobby Bones
He.
Dierks Bentley
He walked in to our hotel room with a bunch of dresses, and she's like, we just got engaged the night before, and she's like, what's going on? I said, we're flying down to Mexico. We're eloping today, and we're going on to Mexico to get. To get married. And so we went down to Mexico, and it was me and her. The judge, I guess you call the person and her interpreter, because everything was said in Spanish. And we got married, just the. The four of us, me and Cass, and those two people. And. Yeah, that's good. Yeah. So I peaked. That was my. I peaked 20 years ago. And ever since then, I have not been overly romantic. So I need to find a. Maybe this would be the year that I do something really great again.
Bobby Bones
But I can agree with you, though, when it feels forced, it doesn't feel authentic.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And this feels forced. But my helpful voice to our listener, our guy listeners, has been, um, don't feel pressured, but understand if your love language is gift giving, like, mine is like, I look forward to this because it's. It's really. I'm bad at saying stuff. Gift giving is my love language.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
However, if your girl works in an office where everybody's getting stuff and she doesn't. Oof. Like, you have at least think of that. Like, think of her in that situation. Not even that. I gotta be so romantic. But at least allow her to not feel ostracized because she's at the office and she's different than everybody else. Cause she's not getting.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, but what about the social media component? I feel the younger generation. Everything has to be like, every birthday, my queen. And, like, you have to, like, really load up on all this stuff. It's like, oh, my God.
Bobby Bones
Well, that's how I teased you. Coming in, my queen. Dark, spent Lake's coming in.
Dierks Bentley
So thankful my wife's not on social media. It's like, I don't have to, like, you know, but it's still just the pressure of, like, you know, the engagement. You got to have the photo. The guy's got to be there to capture the moment. It's like, how's that off? Spontaneous. So there's like, a photographer waiting to capture the engagement moment.
Bobby Bones
I don't know. Back in character, guys. We got him back. Hey.
Dierks Bentley
That's why I play a new song today called she Hates Me.
Bobby Bones
I have a question. I've been dying to ask Dirks. We're doing it in just a second. Let us take a quick break. Dierks Bentley in studio. And the question that I have been itching. I thought it was a rash. It wasn't. It was that you were coming in and I'm ready to ask you.
Dierks Bentley
I am your rash.
Bobby Bones
It is next right there on your. Yes, yes. When you said you like your first single, it'll be something serious. Like the songs that have been streamed the most or like fun songs.
Dierks Bentley
I know that's like the very first song I ever put out. What was I thinking? I fought so hard for that not to be the single. I had this song called I Wish it would break. It was a serious song. It's like what I think of myself as. As a songwriter. I think of myself as I hold on and. And wish it would break and some of these heavier songs. But you look at the numbers, I guess I'm. That's not who I am.
Bobby Bones
My favorite song of yours ever is not a single. I mean, I guess it was a single, but it was so serious and slow at a time where I guess those songs are like, bad. But. Yeah. Bourbon in Kentucky.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
My favorite song ever.
Dierks Bentley
I had a feeling you're gonna say that we had to pull that song because it just didn't really. Wasn't really doing on the radio. And it was the first single and came back with I Hold on and quickly got to Drunk on a Plane. But yeah, I love that song. I put that back in the set list a little bit now and then. Especially now that I have a bourbon. Now that I have a bourbon. Go ahead. Whiskey out there.
Bobby Bones
What's it called? What's your celebrity 94.
Dierks Bentley
Because we need one more celebrity spirit, you know, just. It was just missing one in the. In the. In the crowded field.
Bobby Bones
But row 94.
Dierks Bentley
Row 94.
Bobby Bones
And you described as three ingredients and the truth. And the truth.
Eddie
Okay. I like that.
Dierks Bentley
As an old. Harlan Howard was a great country songwriter in Nashville. He. He described country music as three chords and the truth. So we knew you have a lot of young listeners out there. Okay. This isn't.
Bobby Bones
You think you're at a hip hop station.
Dierks Bentley
I feel like I'm in an interrogation room. New studio, same vibe.
Bobby Bones
It was very.
Dierks Bentley
You know, it's like everyone's lights are on bright. The camera's recording me. And I'm like, this chair, I think has some electric chair lined up too. If I say wrong answer, I'm gonna get shocked.
Bobby Bones
That would be a fun Little element. The shocking chair.
Dierks Bentley
That would be good.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Dierks Bentley
Say the wrong thing.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Question.
Dierks Bentley
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Are you going on Survivor?
Dierks Bentley
I'm not going right away. Not, not. Not now. It's open for the future. But there's.
Bobby Bones
Wow. I didn't think you would answer that.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, there was a lot of. So I posted something and it got kind of picked up. I wasn't even posting it for me. A friend of mine here in Nashville, she's been trying out for the show for a long time. I've been trying to help her, but I do love the show. And then the opportunity kind of, like, came back that it was a possibility, even though I wasn't looking for it. And I had to kind of, like, really think about it. And I have a lot of respect for those. The contestants on that show. You know, it's one thing. Everyone watches it and goes, oh, yeah, I could do that. I could do. You know, but, man, I mean, I have three tempurpedic pillows I like to have, like, positioned just right. And I'm kind of like, you know, I don't know. And also a lot of stuff going on with the album, the tour, whatnot, this year, but at some point I could. I'd love to maybe get it, give it a try.
Bobby Bones
So it was an option, though.
Dierks Bentley
Was an option, yes. Yeah.
Amy
And it still is.
Dierks Bentley
I think it might still be out there. Yeah. I had a. I had a friendly response to. With the show talent, with your friend.
Amy
That you've been helping, though, you better figure out a way for them to get on before you.
Dierks Bentley
Name's Natalie Clements. She'd be amazing. She is like, oh, wait, you didn't get her on. She's not on it yet, but I've done funny videos with her.
Bobby Bones
Like, we've eaten uncooked rice together thing. He's like, I want her to be on. Then he takes her spot. I know.
Dierks Bentley
That's why I can't do it, right? Exactly.
Amy
He'll be like, if I.
Dierks Bentley
Well, I don't think I take her spot because they kind of have a spot for each person. Right. There's this person that fits this kind.
Bobby Bones
Of justice for Natalie is what I say. Wow. Lunchbox.
Dierks Bentley
What?
Bobby Bones
How do you feel about that? Because you thought he was on, man.
Lunchbox
I was like, good. I was going to have a beef with him, but now. No beef. We're not beefing. No, we're good.
Dierks Bentley
No beef.
Bobby Bones
Why?
Amy
Cuz he wants to get.
Dierks Bentley
Oh, it's your thing. Yeah, Yeah.
Lunchbox
I love Survivor.
Bobby Bones
His thing. Okay. It is his thing.
Dierks Bentley
Like what? Anything I can promote himself on. He do you know, he's. How about the new one? There's even outside, the more hardcore one, naked and afraid.
Bobby Bones
That's not you.
Dierks Bentley
He's definitely naked. Afraid.
Bobby Bones
That's him every morning here.
Dierks Bentley
That's what I'm saying.
Lunchbox
Like, they all try to rip off Survivor and they're not Survivor. Have you practiced making fire and everything with, like, flint?
Dierks Bentley
I can make a little fire flint.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Dierks Bentley
Practice a little practice.
Bobby Bones
You still riding the bike?
Dierks Bentley
No, I haven't been. I'm terrible. I've been riding the bike at all. No, I. I know. I swind it for a while. Then I started giving, like, neck pain, and I'm just. No, I'm still playing hockey. Like, I got a men's group on.
Bobby Bones
Tuesdays, so the neck pain from riding the B. But you're hockey. You're hockey. And with no physical limitations at all.
Dierks Bentley
There's a guy named Bobby Ryan who's like, you know, he's the second overall draft pick back in 2003. I skate with him and he. I ran into him the other day and I. I'd never had a stinger before. I've watched a lot of football. You watch guys walking off the field where they can't move an arm. And it compressed my neck back so bad so badly, and I couldn't move my arm. I go, oh, it's just a stinger. You know, because that's what they say on tv. Like, he'll be fine. It's just a stinger. Let me tell you, a stinger really hurts. Like, you. You can't move your arm for, like, five minutes. So I got that the other day. Thanks, Bobby. But different.
Bobby Bones
Bobby.
Dierks Bentley
Bobby Ryan.
Bobby Bones
The two injuries that have kind of a fun kind of name that really hurt. Stingers. Stingers and turf toe. Turf toe Sounds fun.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Kills.
Amy
What is turf toe?
Dierks Bentley
It's football language for, like, you just.
Bobby Bones
Stub your toe, but you actually break, like, your big toe. And it's like tiny bone injuries.
Dierks Bentley
Like, if he's got his bell wrong, he'll be fine.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Bell wrong.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Another.
Dierks Bentley
Another stinger. I mean, that really hurt and I. It was. Yeah, it was pretty pathetic. I just kind of bumped into and, like, hurt pretty bad. But, no, not cycling a lot.
Bobby Bones
Pickleball.
Dierks Bentley
I saw your pickleball. And speaking of basketball, I'm going to the. The Vanderbilt Arkansas game March 4th. My daughter's singing the national anthem.
Bobby Bones
Really? Yeah.
Dierks Bentley
You're gonna go to that game?
Bobby Bones
Probably.
Dierks Bentley
All right.
Bobby Bones
Can I do background vocals?
Dierks Bentley
Amazing.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It's not about the game. I just want to get up there. That's really cool.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I mean, that's. Aside from the basketball game part.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
She nervous about that? She excited?
Dierks Bentley
I'm nervous. I mean, she's done it once before at a high school game and it was the most nerve wracking thing I' been part of because it's. You know, that song is such a. It's the song and it's really hard to sing. I don't know why. I've sung it several times and looking back on it, I don't know why I ever even thought about it because it's just. There's no one situation unless you're Chris Stapleton or Whitney Houston. It's just a. It's a hard one to sing. But she does. She does pretty good on it.
Bobby Bones
Why you thought about it is because you love the country, but then once you're in it, you're like, man, this is a hard song to sing.
Dierks Bentley
I love the country, but I don't like this song.
Bobby Bones
Blindly loves the country and says yes and then gets in it.
Dierks Bentley
That song is so hard to sing.
Bobby Bones
It gets. You have to start so low.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, you gotta find that. Or you start too low. You know that. I sang it one time for the Titans and I was worried about starting too high. I started too low. And then you get to those Trace Adkins notes.
Bobby Bones
Oh, gosh, I can't base. You're basically using baselines.
Dierks Bentley
Can't just kind of fade out there, then come back in.
Bobby Bones
Are you playing pickleball at all?
Dierks Bentley
Yeah. Are we gonna play Sometimes we are.
Bobby Bones
It's gotten cold.
Dierks Bentley
It's too cold.
Bobby Bones
Right. Last time we were playing one of the writers on. On. On Dirk's song is. Is a great friend of mine and we play a lot. And so I text Dirk. I was like, are you coming over? And I think maybe you saw a little something.
Dierks Bentley
I saw some.
Bobby Bones
I think maybe solo something. You were a little intimidated.
Dierks Bentley
Put a little more time in, you know, get my game up to. Up to speed. But yeah, I'm ready when it warms up.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's just cold. Okay, we have. We have a game we're gonna play. You're gonna be the first one to do it officially in just a second. You're gonna like it, right? You think we're always up to something. No, no, no.
Dierks Bentley
We were onto something back at the YMCA back in the day. That might have been where it all started for you.
Bobby Bones
Are you announcing a tour after, like Today, because. Yes, but not now. You can't. They're not gonna let you do it now. I'm just saying I will. If you want to, you can. But I don't want to. If there's like, if noon the earth is coming together to can we announce the tour?
Dierks Bentley
I mean, it's a good one.
Bobby Bones
Take a break, we'll come back.
Dierks Bentley
She said just for. Just for you, we can do it.
Bobby Bones
A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks for me. Love Starbucks. Love to get a chai tea. And if I'm ready, if I really need a big day, I'll get that double shot of espresso ready to go. But the great thing now at Starbucks is, is that if you go and you decide you want to hang out in Starbucks for a little bit, they're now doing ceramics, like glassware. So if you're going to go, you're going to meet a friend and you order a drink and you say, I want it here. You're going to get it in a mug or a glass. There's also a condiment bar. It's back. Now you can add the finishing touches to your drink so you don't have to go, well, I need a little more of this. I need a little less of this. You can do the perfect amount of cream and sugar. You now have even more reasons to stay a while at Starbucks. So you go to Starbucks anyway. Next time, stay a while at your next Starbucks visit.

Bobby Bones show now, Dierks Bentley. You know Dirks from. I thought he got 22 number ones. Wow, that is crazy that he's so rich. He's right here next to us. Somebody's so rich.
Dierks Bentley
Is there good money in a New York Times number one bestseller?
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Dierks Bentley
Okay.
Bobby Bones
After it's like honestly, the real talk.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, I'm serious. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
The first book that I did, they offered a medium to low guarantee which I did not accept because I'd never written a book. And I was like, I'm not going to take anything if it's not. So I wrote like half of it and then I took the money. It was like $150,000.
Dierks Bentley
Okay.
Bobby Bones
For a first book.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
But then it was high back end and it was a four, four week number one. So it did well. I would, I would compare it from what I know, but on yourself about a number one. If you write a number one song as a. With three, with two other writers, it's about that page.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah. Okay.
Bobby Bones
Second book was better because I had a one already. So they gave me a bigger guarantee.
Dierks Bentley
Okay.
Bobby Bones
That's the real talk. Right.
Amy
You're gonna write a book.
Dierks Bentley
Well, I mean, trying to make that Bobby Bones money. Yeah. How do you get there? It's book writing. It's all about that. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
It is not. Okay, so we're gonna start the official Bobby Bones show. Bop It League where artists will come in. And we've done this before with artists, but we haven't kept track. Dirk says when I pulled out Bop it, you would have thought I pulled in an alien from another planet.
Dierks Bentley
Did you play Bop It Looks like a child's toy.
Bobby Bones
It is a child's toy. Okay. Yeah, yeah.
Amy
Pull it.
Dierks Bentley
Twist it.
Bobby Bones
So this is what will happen.
Dierks Bentley
Twist it.
Bobby Bones
All right, you hit the button here. Do the battery.
Eddie
Pull it. Pull it first.
Bobby Bones
Now. Now, look, this is. It's Bop It. That's Bop It. Twist it.
Dierks Bentley
Oh, okay.
Bobby Bones
Pull it.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah, yeah. This is a good. This would be a good bus. Bus game.
Bobby Bones
Bop It.
Dierks Bentley
Love it.
Bobby Bones
Guys, you play this on the bus, okay? We got to get him some whiskey or something.
Amy
He says it would be a good bus game. He hasn't played it.
Dierks Bentley
I know. Well, we do some dumb stuff, so a little whiskey and. And Bop it could be pretty fun.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so you're gonna play bop. And the thing is, guys, when he's playing, we have to be quiet at the end because we have to hear the score, Right? So you can take one practice run, and we'll stop you, but just so you can get the hang of it. So. So go ahead and pull it right now. It'll tell you.
Dierks Bentley
I got it.
Bobby Bones
Okay, he's got it. Like, he's cocky now.
Eddie
You did get cocky.
Bobby Bones
Cocky, yeah.
Dierks Bentley
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So pull the mic down. Oh, yeah. So we can hear it. Here we go. Twist it. Pull it. Pull it. Pull it. Twist it. I get the grip just right. Pull it. Pull it. Bop it. Bop it. Pull it. Twist it. Bop it.
Dierks Bentley
Does it ever get hard?
Bobby Bones
Bop it.
Amy
Getting faster.
Bobby Bones
Bop it. Pull it. Twist it. Pull it. Pull it. Score. 18. 18.
Eddie
18.
Amy
What'd you do wrong?
Bobby Bones
18'S so weak.
Dierks Bentley
That's low, huh?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's real.
Amy
I don't. What do you mean? What'd you miss? What is.
Dierks Bentley
No, I got a lot, though.
Amy
But what is it?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, you got eight. What's the record you got 18 for. For an artist. 18.
Dierks Bentley
Now, what's your record? What's yours?
Amy
Well, the high there was 77 something.
Dierks Bentley
Time for that. We got.
Bobby Bones
He's got stuff to do, interviews to do. Yeah, he probably gave up for us.
Dierks Bentley
I purposely didn't twist it when I should have pulled.
Bobby Bones
You will go on the scoreboard with a score of 18.
Dierks Bentley
Well, okay, I'll do it off camera here. We'll get it. We'll get the.
Bobby Bones
Well, that's. That's like throwing a pass when the lights aren't on.
Dierks Bentley
I think about the fans. They're list the radio. They don't hear me play bop it for 70. I could probably go to 100. I'm a pilot.
Bobby Bones
Well, we just asked them, we said, would you rather hear a Dirk song or Bop It? And they pick Bop It.
Amy
What does me and a pilot have to do?
Bobby Bones
I don't know.
Dierks Bentley
It just sounded good.
Amy
He just wants to remind people he only got to 17 or 18, but.
Dierks Bentley
He can fly about. Like there's a guy at a wedding or funeral and they goes, anybody have anything to say? And the guy's like, I'm a pilot.
Bobby Bones
Another guy's like, I gotta do CrossFit.
Dierks Bentley
Always look.
Bobby Bones
Another one's like, I'm a vegan.
Dierks Bentley
Exactly. Always looking for an opportunity to drop that in there.
Bobby Bones
Okay, so a couple things. Dierks new song, she Hates Me is out today. The tour gets announced Monday. We'll be happy to share that on Monday.
Dierks Bentley
I love you. Do that.
Bobby Bones
He has a whiskey called Ro 94. Three ingredients in the truth.
Dierks Bentley
If you don't drink, there's with co, which is a non alcoholic mixer.
Amy
Yes, I've had that. It's so good.
Dierks Bentley
Made here in Tennessee.
Amy
Yeah, you can get the margarita one, but you just don't add the tequila.
Dierks Bentley
There you go.
Bobby Bones
But does it taste sweet or do I need it like all natural, all good.
Dierks Bentley
No preservatives, no juices. Made in Dixon, Tennessee. For the people that don't drink. We know some of those people in our lives that shouldn't be drinking anymore.
Amy
I actually gifted some to Caitlin for her birthday or Christmas one time.
Bobby Bones
I know we can't stop talking about it. It's all we've had since Christmas. Every day.
Dierks Bentley
There we go.
Bobby Bones
Dirk's always lovely to see you. Congratulations on the new song. And we are looking forward to seeing where you're going to be on the road.
Dierks Bentley
Am I released? Am I being held overnight or am I allowed to go? Let it go.
Bobby Bones
It's not 5150, so I think we will not. We cannot legally hold you, but there he is, our friend Derek Spentley, everybody. There he is. Thank you, guys. Bones. Easy Trivia. The category is Valentine's Day. Eddie, it's so easy. What day is Valentine's Day celebrated?
Eddie
I don't. I'm not. If I miss it, I'm not out, right?
Bobby Bones
No, you should be. It's literally today. Stop looking at computer screens. So who knows the dates?
Eddie
It's February 13th.
Bobby Bones
It's February 14th. What?
Amy
Are you serious?
Bobby Bones
Are you drunk?
Amy
Like literally today's?
Bobby Bones
That's also who. Even if it wasn't today, everybody knows.
Eddie
I don't think I've ever known that.
Bobby Bones
Really? Okay, Amy, what's the most common flower that a girl is given on Valentine's Day? Correct. Lunchbox. Which winged Roman God is often associated with Valentine's Day?
Amy
Cupid.
Bobby Bones
Okay, and then, Morgan, what shape are the Valentine's Day candies with messages on them, their hearts. Good. Nobody goes home. First round. Thank goodness you didn't know it. Date?
Eddie
February 14th. I got it. I'll never forget that.
Bobby Bones
Easy trivia. Brand logos. Eddie's wearing the tr. He's the champion. But this season, no wins. Morgan, two Amy, Two brand logos is the category. What brand has a swoosh as its logo? Eddie, that's Nike. Correct. Amy, what fast food chain uses golden arches as its logo?
Amy
McDonald's.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Lunchbox. What technology company has a piece of fruit with a bite taken out of it?
Lunchbox
Oh, apple.
Bobby Bones
Correct. And, Morgan, what coffee chain has a green mermaid as its logo?
Morgan
That would be Starbucks.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Good job. Next category. Marvel superheroes. What's the real name of Iron Man?
Dierks Bentley
Eddie, what's his name?
Eddie
Oh, Tony Starks.
Bobby Bones
Stark.
Eddie
Tony Stark. Tony Stark.
Bobby Bones
You missed.
Eddie
Yeah, this is not my season.
Bobby Bones
We can't give him Tony Starks. It's close, but we get Starks Industry. Yeah, he rushed it. Yeah, and you kind of stopped on it, too. Tony Starks.
Eddie
Because it didn't sound right.
Bobby Bones
Eddie's out. Amy, what color is the Hulk?
Amy
Green.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Lunchbox. What superhero team includes Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor?
Lunchbox
Captain. Say it again.
Bobby Bones
What superhero team includes Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor?
Lunchbox
They're a team name. Is it Marvel?
Dierks Bentley
Marvel.
Bobby Bones
Incorrect.
Dierks Bentley
You've been boned.
Bobby Bones
Yikes.
Dierks Bentley
Did you know that?
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Avengers.
Lunchbox
I don't. I don't watch that stuff.
Amy
When you first said the category, he. Over here, he's like, oh, gosh.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I. I just. I don't watch it. I'm not a nerd.
Amy
It's good stuff.
Bobby Bones
Morgan, what superhero uses web shooters to swing between buildings?
Morgan
I'm proudly a nerd. I'm Spider. That would be Spider Man.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Rolled his eyes when she got that one. The Avengers was no harder.
Lunchbox
I mean, that was so easy.
Bobby Bones
The Avengers was no harder.
Lunchbox
I disagree. Spider Man's mainstream.
Amy
The Avengers so mainstream.
Bobby Bones
The top five movie of all time.
Amy
Isn'T Jessica Alba in Avengers?
Bobby Bones
No.
Morgan
Oh, she's Fantastic Four.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Lunchbox
Okay, there you go. Confusing.
Amy
Now all these different nerds.
Bobby Bones
Next up, Rom coms is the category. Are both dudes out? Yeah. Golly, they both have two wins. Here we go. Amy, what 1990 Rom com stars Julia Roberts, who falls for a wealthy businessman.
Amy
Amy, we're putting this in the rom com category.
Bobby Bones
Okay?
Amy
Pretty Woman.
Bobby Bones
That's a. That's a rom com. Is it? Yeah. Okay, Morgan, who plays the male. The male lead and how to lose a guy in 10 days?
Morgan
Oh, Matthew McConaughey.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Amy, what? Rom com features Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks as rival bookstore owners?
Amy
You've got mail.
Bobby Bones
Correct. Morgan, which rom com features the famous line, I'll have what she's having.
Morgan
I'll have what she's having. Oh, hold on, hold on. I can picture the scene they're at. They're at a meal. I'll have what she's having.
Bobby Bones
Shoot.
Morgan
What is that from? I'll have what she's having.
Bobby Bones
Shoot.
Morgan
I don't know, dude. Dirty Dangers?
Bobby Bones
Avengers?
Dierks Bentley
Stupid bow.
Amy
No.
Morgan
What is it?
Bobby Bones
When Harry Met Sally.
Morgan
Ah, of course it is.
Bobby Bones
Amy wins. That's a Quake game. I'll give you a victory live category. Okay, Famous people of the 70s. Amy, what Swedish pop group rose to the 70s with the song Dancing Queen?
Amy
ABBA?
Bobby Bones
Correct. Amy, what martial arts legend and movie star died in 1973 at the age of 32? Martial arts legend and movie star died in 1973 at 32?
Amy
Jackie Chin.
Bobby Bones
No. Die. He's doing movies. Yeah. Yeah, I think he's still alive, too.
Amy
Yeah, the first one.
Bobby Bones
Bruce Lee.
Amy
That's what I meant.
Bobby Bones
How did he die? I don't know. Mike, you know how Bruce Lee died? Probably Eddie. Senior high school beat up or something. Next one. What actress, Amy, played Princess Leia in Star Wars?
Amy
No, I can't think of her name.
Bobby Bones
Carrie Fisher.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Finally, Amy, what actor played Danny zuko in the 1978 movie Grease?
Amy
John Travolta.
Bobby Bones
Correct. And your answer is? Bruce Lee died of a cerebral oedema known as brain swelling, a condition where excessive fluid accumulates in brain tissue.
Eddie
So he got hit. Sounds like a trauma.
Bobby Bones
Result.
Amy
He landed on a. Yeah, his son's.
Eddie
The one that got shot on a movie set.
Bobby Bones
Oh, shot Brandon Lee? Yeah. Because the bullet was supposed to be fake. Yeah. Crazy. That's crazy. Amy is a winner, though. And three wins. Good job. That's a quick round, but that is easy trivia. Nice job. A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks for me. Love Starbucks. Love to get a chai tea. And if I'm ready, if I really need a big day, I'll get that Double shot of espresso, ready to go.

Morgan
Snakes Zombies, sharks, heights. Speaking in public. The list of fears is endless.
Eddie
But while you're clutching your blanket in.
Morgan
The dark, wondering if that sound in.
Bobby Bones
The hall was actually a footstep, the.
Morgan
Real danger is in your hand when.
Bobby Bones
You'Re behind the wheel.
Morgan
And while you might think a great white shark is scary, what's really terrifying and even deadly is distracted driving. Eyes forward. Don't drive distracted. Brought to you by NHTSA and the Ad Council.
Bobby Bones
Hey, Morgan, is this a real life story about you or is this one of those finger quotes?
Morgan
No, this is real life.
Bobby Bones
Okay, Morgan, dating story. Okay, go ahead.
Morgan
Yeah. So I was on a date with a guy, and we're sitting there talking. Everything was going fine, but somehow we stumble upon this conversation. And he admits that he's in this massive group chat with a bunch of his friends and a bunch of, like, random stranger guys, that all they do is send a bunch of not safe for work videos, photos of women.
Bobby Bones
What? Why? Okay, many, many questions. First, why would he tell you this? What date is this?
Morgan
It's a date from Hinge. It was the first. First date.
Bobby Bones
He admits on a first date that he's in a text group where they sent a bunch of naked pictures. Just a bunch of dudes.
Amy
Yep.
Morgan
Yeah, he even, like, showed me it. I saw it.
Bobby Bones
What?
Morgan
So it wasn't like he was making it up.
Bobby Bones
How does it come up?
Morgan
We were just talking about, like, funny group chats that were in. And I had mentioned how, like, I hate group chat sometimes because they go off. He's like, oh, speaking of mine's, like, blowing up right now. And I'm like, well, is it, like, important? Do you need to get something? He's like, no, this is just something I've been. And I kind of pushed him on it because he. He did kind of, like, try and side sweep it. And I was like, no, tell. Tell me about your group chat. And he came out with it.
Bobby Bones
You can't go out with this guy again.
Amy
No.
Bobby Bones
Now, this is my opinion. We go around the room. You can't go out with this guy again. For a couple of reasons. One, he's not even smart enough to lie about the group chat. He's already disgusting for being in. So the. The super second symptom is he brings it up like an idiot that he's in one. And then he admits that he's in some disgusting naked group chat. He's the dumb, dumb. But if you go even deeper, the fundamental. Who's in a group chat with a bunch of dudes that send Them naked girls. And that, to me, feels disgusting. Okay, but let's just say. Because I'm gonna let Lunchbox have his minute here too. Lunchbox will have some reason, but who gets in a chat, people you don't even know? Which feels even more gross. This is so gross on so many levels. And he's dumb. You cannot go out with this guy again. That's. That would be my opinion. Now, we're gonna save the. The Lunchbox for the headliner here, because I'm sure I'll have controversial opinions, but. Amy, you're up.
Amy
I mean, no, this is disgusting. It's the reddest red flag I've ever heard of in my life.
Bobby Bones
Good one. It's the reddest flag. Yep.
Amy
It's like.
Bobby Bones
It's Texas A M. Maroon.
Amy
It can't get more red than this. She doesn't find that it's completely disgusting and disrespectful to be sharing pictures? These poor girls have no idea.
Bobby Bones
Oh, no, no, no. I thought it could be stuff from the Internet, too, where they. I'm not thinking it's just pictures of people they know. I'm thinking it's just naked girls from the Internet.
Morgan
Yeah. And that's what it was. It's just a bunch of naked photos. Videos that are already on the Internet that they're then sharing in this group chat.
Bobby Bones
That's what I. That's what I thought.
Amy
Okay.
Bobby Bones
I didn't. I didn't know if I know.
Amy
You know, like, you know, some girl sends this guy.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah. But we're not there, so I don't even know. I don't even want to go there, because that's a whole different place.
Amy
Well, still red flag.
Bobby Bones
I agree. So we will agree there.
Eddie
It's.
Bobby Bones
It's. It's Roll Tide red, and there are different reds. Arkansas is a cardinal red. It's not as dark, dark, dark red. That's it. That's it. That's a bad one with guys you don't even know.
Amy
Crimson Lunchbox.
Lunchbox
I mean, Morgan, have you listened to Granny and Grandpa talk? Now you're gonna listen to reality, okay? It's not a big deal. Who cares if a bunch of dudes send naked videos? Like, if they see something that's funny online, like, oh, look what she's doing, honey.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I think this is a comedy thread.
Lunchbox
She jumps out of a birthday cake. Isn't that hilarious? Or you see a funny clip, you send it to your friends, and you probably get added into this group. Like, you have a group of Friends. And then they have a friend maybe they work with that they add to the group text. So you don't know them, but you know them by osmosis. Like, you are attached.
Bobby Bones
You know what osmosis is? I don't think you do in this case. Sometimes you get them. I don't think you do here.
Lunchbox
No, but it's a word. Like, it's like relatable. And so.
Bobby Bones
No, that's not what that means.
Lunchbox
Because, yeah, it's like Eddie knows someone. So if Eddie's friends with him, like, he adds me to the group text, it's like, I kind of know the guy through Eddie. It's no big deal.
Bobby Bones
Okay, that's not osmosis, but I feel you, but continue on.
Lunchbox
Yeah. And he was even upfront about it. Like, it's not like he lied about it already.
Bobby Bones
He tried to lie, though.
Lunchbox
No, no, he didn't try to lie because she said, group chats, blah, blah, blah, blah. And he straight up said, oh, I'm in this one. That's kind of annoying. He told her right about it, right up front. He wasn't trying to hide naked girls. He just said, it's a little funny thing that we laugh at during the day. Like, it's something to break up the workday.
Bobby Bones
Not a big laughing. I don't think it's a comedy thread, dude.
Lunchbox
It's not like they're good. They're not going home and looking at this and going, oh, my gosh. It's just something funny at work. Like, oh, I came across this on the Internet.
Bobby Bones
Huh.
Amy
So if your wife got onto your phone and you had a group text a bunch of guys just sending negative pictures and videos of other strange women. Like, if I told her about it.
Bobby Bones
I don't think he wanted to tell her. He tried to get out of it.
Lunchbox
But did he tell you straight up? It's about naked chicks?
Amy
But this is what she said.
Morgan
But I. I did press him on it. It did. He wasn't, like, coming out and just saying it. I kind of pressed him to be like, hey, what's the context?
Amy
It's a gateway.
Bobby Bones
Yes. There's. I don't think. This is not. This is not comedy, though.
Amy
It's a gateway to more things to come. If you get into a relationship with this guy that are going to be very problematic.
Lunchbox
Okay, so would it be a red flag if, like, every third Thursday of the month he goes to the dance club with his friends?
Amy
For me, yes.
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah. Like a strip club Thursday.
Lunchbox
It's a tradition Man.
Bobby Bones
Okay, maybe every week, third month. Every month.
Amy
Maybe if you said a bachelor party every 10 years or something, but you went every Thursday.
Lunchbox
They've been doing it for, you know, 10 years. It's just something they do. It's not a big deal.
Amy
I know. It's weird.
Lunchbox
Embrace naked guys. Like, why are we so.
Bobby Bones
I don't mind embracing. I don't. No, no, no. I don't. I don't mind naked. It doesn't matter. That's your opinion. I'm not. I don't agree with it, but I can just stop talking about it. That fair?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Would you like to hear what osmosis is?
Amy
Huh?
Bobby Bones
Like, for example, osmosis to me a funny way. Or I would be like, if I slept. If I put my head on a book and I slept on it, and then this doesn't happen. But if all this stuff came into your brain because you're sleeping on the book, I would be like, I learned that through osmosis. But, like, imagine you have a cup of water and you put a gummy bear in the water. Okay? So at first, the gummy bear is small in the water, but after a while, the gummy bear obviously gets bigger. That's because the water moves into the gummy bear through tiny, tiny, tiny invisible holes. And then the water wants to spread out and make things even. And so it's inside of it. That is osmosis. Oh.
Amy
I just learned about this with my son, except for the. His schoology or whatever we were using used a potato instead of a gummy beer.
Bobby Bones
Potatoes. Great. Because the water will balance it out. Like, if the water's in there, wherever the water is, it's not going to stay concentrated to one place where it's all lopsided. It'll. The water then balances out to be. It goes inside of it, and that's osmosis. So just wanted to describe osmosis. I like lunchbox's ability sometimes to throw words in, but I do need to say, hey, that's not the accurate representation or definition of the word. Did you understand?
Lunchbox
Yeah, I understood it now, but I thought it was close. I mean, I thought it was kind of close.
Bobby Bones
I want. I wonder what you were looking for, but that's okay. All right.
Amy
I think maybe, you know, like, you got a bunch of molecules hanging out together.
Bobby Bones
Oh, no.
Amy
I think we're just like, hey, it's just like osmosis.
Bobby Bones
He's like, strip club once every Thursday. Yeah. Morgan, are you going out with them again?
Morgan
No, no, I'm Not.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it had been over right there for me.
Morgan
Well, I. I'm curious, though. If you are on a date with this person, this happens. Like, do you finish the date or do you just up and leave?
Bobby Bones
I don't up and leave because I'm not so offended personally, because nothing's happening. Illegal. But I don't think it's somebody that I want to be with.
Amy
Right.
Bobby Bones
The only thing, I think I probably cut it shorter with natural ways to cut it shorter. Like, I don't hang around. We don't go for something after. You may run into them again. I don't. Yeah, I. I don't leave. I don't gotta go. I got diarrhea. I gotta go home. That doesn't happen because it does happen other times.
Dierks Bentley
Okay.
Morgan
I did.
Amy
I didn't.
Morgan
You know, I. I finished the day. They didn't leave.
Lunchbox
You were looking for an out. You were looking for an out. You didn't like him anyway. This is just an excuse.
Bobby Bones
No, this is bigger than an excuse. She might not have liked him, but she. I would imagine if this. He's in a thread with a bunch of dudes he doesn't know. There are other things about him that she probably doesn't like. But I don't think this would be the thing if everything else was perfect. I can't believe this would be something that exists in that guy's life. I didn't mean to cut you off, Amy. What do you want to say?
Amy
Oh, no, I didn't mean to cut you off. I was just trying to think of what would make me ever get up halfway through the day and leave early without waiting. And it would have to be someone.
Bobby Bones
Saying, like, the N word.
Amy
Yeah. Racism. Inappropriate touching.
Bobby Bones
I don't mind that. Give me some.
Amy
No.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, different for girls. Yeah, racism. Anti Semitism, stuff like that. Yeah, that stuff. I would just be like, we're not the same. I have to go. God bless you.
Amy
Serve time for murdering my.
Bobby Bones
Well, yeah, well, that's a whole different. That's on you for not Googling that. You gotta Google some of that stuff. Okay. Thank you, Morgan. Never date him again. Okay?
Morgan
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Dierks Bentley
Bobby Bone show.
Bobby Bones
Bonehead story of the day.
Lunchbox
This story comes to us from Miami, Florida. A guy owns a car dealership, sells a car to a dude. Six months later, he misses one payment. Car dealership owners, like, I gotta go get that car. Finds him at a stoplight, comes up, bangs on his window, flashes a gun, says, give me the keys. Sat there, carjacked him at the stoplight.
Amy
Wow.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's extra repo. I don't know what the rules are on repo. If one. I don't think it's one payment. We missed a lot of payments growing up. Did he buy it? Like, not under contract? Was it verbal contract?
Lunchbox
No, no, it was a contract.
Bobby Bones
Oh.
Amy
But I'm definitely picturing as one of those places on the side of the road that doesn't even look like a car dealership, but it has a bunch.
Bobby Bones
Of cars, and it's just like, we agree. But then if you.
Lunchbox
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Amy, you're exactly right. And the car dealership owner has been sentenced to eight years in prison for carjacking.
Amy
Wow.
Bobby Bones
So you have to do it at night when no one's looking. With a tow truck. Tow truck. Right. That's crazy. Okay, I'm Lunchbox.
Lunchbox
That's your bonehead story of the day, Bones.
Bobby Bones
Eddie, what happened?
Eddie
I almost lost two of my kids.
Bobby Bones
I mean. You lost them?
Eddie
I went to heaven. Like, lost them. Like, they almost died.
Bobby Bones
Dude, that's just a funny way to say that. Okay, go ahead.
Eddie
So I've never done this before, but my 17 year old, obviously, he drives. He has a license. And my other son had practice, so I said, hey, will you go pick up our other son, please, at practice? Yeah, no problem. He gets in his car, he leaves, and like, 20 minutes later, I get a FaceTime. And he's like, dad, dad.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my goodness.
Eddie
I can't see out of my car. The defrost isn't working. People are honking at me. I'm in someone's yard. And then my other son, who's 11 years old, is crying in the backseat, like, dad, they're gonna shoot us. We're in. Yeah, he's.
Bobby Bones
The yard. Yeah.
Eddie
He thinks the neighbors or someone's gonna come out of the house and be like, what are you doing in our yard? And so apparently, he couldn't work the defrost button, and the whole windows got fogged up and he couldn't see anything. And he said that they almost died. They almost got hit by four cars until he ditched it and went into someone's yard.
Amy
Oh, my.
Bobby Bones
So do you put this blame on yourself at all?
Eddie
Kind of. Because, like, I guess I've never taught him about the defrost button, but I just assume, like, you're. You drive. This is your car. This is how you roll the windows down. This is how you lock the doors. This is the defrost button. And I just never taught them about defrost.
Bobby Bones
You could also teach Amy.
Amy
Rude.
Bobby Bones
I mean, she's driven to work with, like a tiny hole and we've all probably not let our car fully defrost, which is not safe. And you're like looking through a small selection.
Amy
Yeah, mine was ice, not just fog.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Amy
It was like ice.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So wait, how far were they in the yard?
Eddie
He said that they started on a driveway, but since he couldn't see, he felt that it got rough and then they just ended up in the front yard.
Bobby Bones
Wow. And then what did you do to help them out of the situation?
Eddie
I said, stay right there, I will go meet you and figure it out.
Bobby Bones
And how deep were they in the yard when you got there?
Eddie
I didn't get there because they called me back and said, you know what, dad? We figured out there's a little button here that's got little wavy things on it and that just fixed everything.
Dierks Bentley
Like.
Eddie
Yeah, that's called a defrost button. That's what you should have hit to begin with.
Bobby Bones
All seriousness, if they're like, people are honking and they're pulling. Pulling a yard, you almost lost two kids to heaven.
Eddie
Scary, man, scary. And I was talking to Amy too, earlier about like, you know, oh, what if, like, you know, I have to go pick up all my kids from school, but I can't do it. Do I send my son?
Bobby Bones
Because, yeah, like, this is a good lesson. I wouldn't keep him from doing that because of this.
Amy
No, he was like, he doesn't want to put all of his kids in the same car with the oldest president. He loses. He could lose them all.
Bobby Bones
That's what I'm saying. Like president, vice president. Why they don't travel.
Eddie
Yeah, because I almost lost two right there. What if I lost all four?
Bobby Bones
You didn't almost lose two, but that was an unfortunate situation that could have resulted in something terrible happening. Think of all the times as kids, teenagers, we did something or we were unknowledgeable about something, and we almost had something like this happen.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
5, 6, 7, 8 times. And we learned from it and became mid level adults.
Eddie
Well, now my 11 year old's like, I'm not driving ever. Ever.
Bobby Bones

A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks. But the great thing now at Starbucks is, is that if you go and you decide you want to hang out in Starbucks for a little bit, they're now doing ceramics, like glassware. So if you're gonna go, you're gonna meet a friend and you order a drink and you say, I want it here, you're gonna get it in a mug or a glass. So you go to Starbucks anyway. Next time, stay a while at your next Starbucks visit. Welcome to my legacy.
