A young American boy was Attacked by a shark while swimming with his brother at a resort town in the Bahamas. The 12 year old victim was on a family tour when he went swimming with his brother 3.30pm the boy was rushed onto a boat, taken to the most populous island in the Bahamas. He received medical treatment. Stable condition on Wednesday. Despite shark attacks being rare, they have had more incidents now than in a while. A lot of shark stories.

So many that. So much so that my story was a shark story, but I got nervous that maybe we've already done it. You've done it.

[Bobby Bones]

What was it though?

[Lunchbox]

But it just came out this morning, the update at least. So maybe we haven't. This mom who's got a one year old, she's 34 years old and she lost her arm in a shark attack and she has woken up after a 12 day coma.

[Bobby Bones]

We talked about this. I think this is the one we talked about.

[Lunchbox]

But now she's awake.

[Bobby Bones]

But now she's awake. I didn't know that.

[Lunchbox]

Yeah, so that was the update is she was attacked off the coast of Australia earlier this month and she woke up and she remembers everything.

[Bobby Bones]

You know, I'm torn if I want to remember or not, depending on if it lets me sleep or if I have crazy PTSD from it. If I can remember everything and I'm able to sleep and not have real mental health trauma. Like I want to know because I want to like tell the story and write books and be able to at a party, like, oh, yeah, see this arm?

[Lunchbox]

Yeah, she said, or in time, she's going to want to share more of her story because she remembers the whole event in detail. But for now, she's focused on resting and healing as her doctors support her in pain management tests, regaining movement and preparing for further surgeries tomorrow. Which is crazy because, yeah, that got me thinking, like, do I want to remember that? And then it also got me thinking about that, that show, the Crash that we've talked about on Netflix where she crashed into a wall going 100 miles an hour and her boyfriend and his friend died. But she doesn't remember anything. Only in that she says, right, Because I was thinking, okay, yeah, traumatic event, maybe you do blackout and you don't remember anything.

[Bobby Bones]

Sure, that's pretty common.

[Lunchbox]

But shark attack, you're putting a coma for 12 days. She remembers everything.

[Bobby Bones]

I mean, if she really wanted to have like a podcast career or, I don't know, sell some stuff, she could say she saw the light and she walked toward the light and someone said, you're not done yet.

[Lunchbox]

The shark Attack victim.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

And create a whole story of how she ran into Abe Lincoln or whomever. Insert whomever. And they told her what the keys to life are. And now she's back because they told her it was her job to share it. And now she's on a speaking tour. She's doing podcasts.

[Amy]

I mean.

[Lunchbox]

Well, it says here that you don't

[Bobby Bones]

think people do that.

[Amy]

No, no, I think people.

[Bobby Bones]

Because you can't prove they. They didn't.

[Amy]

I know, but how do you live with yourself? Like, just keep talking about like.

[Lunchbox]

But in time, it says she'll share her story, so she'll still. She still has help with it. Yeah, she. Right now, she said she's trying to focus on healing, so who knows? Maybe that will. Who knows?

[Bobby Bones]

You know how I think they justify it?

[Lunchbox]

How they justify lying?

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Lunchbox]

Okay.

[Bobby Bones]

I think a lot of them justify it by going, nobody's hurt from this. I'm actually sharing a positive message that can make people's lives better. This situation allowed me to create this story that hurts no one and helps people. That's how I think it would be justified if I were to do such thing.

[Amy]

Oh. I mean, you can justify anything, really,

[Bobby Bones]

but nobody's getting hurt. Oh, you're saying not right. It's not wrong.

[Amy]

Well, it's a lie.

[Bobby Bones]

But you don't know that because you can't prove it.

[Amy]

No, but you're saying the scenario is you got to make all the stuff up to make money. That's a lie. I can't. I'm not proving that she's lying because I don't know.

[Bobby Bones]

Oh, no, she's not even saying that.

[Lunchbox]

She hasn't said it yet.

[Bobby Bones]

It would be so easy to create that story and then spend your. But also, you could look at it like, I lost an arm. I'm not able to do the things that I used to do. It is taking away. If she did something with her hands, it is taking. Taking away my ability to make money, to support my family. And now what am I going to do? I. I need to create something from this story and. And so she could write a book about it. But you could always do that. I saw the light thing.

[Lunchbox]

I think the people that have written books about seeing the light, they did see a light, and it's not fair to them, or they think they saw a light, or they did, like, five minutes in heaven and bow some.

[Bobby Bones]

Some.

[Lunchbox]

Or what was that?

[Amy]

Like, there's a guy in my high school that got stabbed. He said he saw the light, and

[Bobby Bones]

I would Say that too. If I wanted a good story or wanted to write a book or a podcast.

[Lunchbox]

But what if you really see a light?

[Bobby Bones]

That's the problem. You might. Because I can't prove you did or didn't. That's why it's so easy to do it.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Lunchbox]

Can I believe people when they say that?

[Bobby Bones]

I believe nobody that says that.

[Lunchbox]

Wow.

[Bobby Bones]

But I also can't prove they're wrong, so I don't get angry about it. Like, I don't.

[Lunchbox]

Yeah, you move on.

[Bobby Bones]

I don't point and go, liar, but in my mind, I go, they probably didn't. Sometimes I think maybe they just think they did once they woke up and they. Who knows? I can't prove anything.

[Lunchbox]

Well, yeah. And who knows what's going on with our brain when we're in that type? So did your brain see a light or did you see the heavenly gates? The per.

[Amy]

That's like, when my dad was in the hospital, you know, he was, like, in a coma or like, he was pretty much brain dead for I don't know how many days.

[Bobby Bones]

When he fell?

[Amy]

Yeah, when he fell. And they said that, you know. Oh, they can't. I mean, he's not. It's not working. Like, there's nothing. Like. And we were thinking, like, can he hear us when we're talking to him? They're like, no. But then, you know, like, when my son came in, he started moving. I'm like, oh, are we sure?

[Lunchbox]

I know that's hard because we don't know.

[Amy]

Like, doctors think that he can't hear or can't comprehend what's going on, but maybe he can.

[Bobby Bones]

Well, to say doctors think, I think would be unfair. Doctors are using all the information.

[Amy]

Yes.

[Bobby Bones]

From thousands of years, mostly the last hundred years of brain waves when they're having interactions and reactions to things. So doctors think. Doesn't feel fair to doctors. But I also feel like based on the science that they have learned and taught over the last hundred years. Yeah, yeah.

[Amy]

But I also feel like, you know, say 30 years ago, they're like, all right, this is what we came up with. They can't hear or think. Great. And then the next 30 years, for sure, they just don't even question it again. So they just go with that.

[Bobby Bones]

Oh, no. I think they're always testing it. And I think, yeah. And I think that technology gets better. That allows us to go deeper into what may have been a no. And the deeper you go, it's not so much a no. There's much more possibility that it could Be a yes even if it's not so. Yeah. Doctors thinking feels.

[Amy]

These doctors, they.

[Bobby Bones]

They didn't think.

[Lunchbox]

So they're just guessing.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

But also, again, who knows? Who knows? Okay, thank you, Eddie.

[Amy]

Oh, man, this is terrible. So three people in South Carolina have been arrested. They are fast food workers because somebody came in and complained about their order. So they took food out of the trash and spit on it and served it to the customer.

[Bobby Bones]

This isn't the other spit story we had.

[Amy]

No, that was the difference.

[Bobby Bones]

She spit in a milkshake.

[Lunchbox]

Different.

[Amy]

These are three people. They were behind it.

[Bobby Bones]

How did they find out?

[Amy]

I think that their surveillance cameras and they caught them.

[Bobby Bones]

But how did the people know to even inquire about their food? Because I would not eat a sandwich that tasted normal and go, I sure would like to see the people on camera that made this. Like, there had to be something. Right. And.

[Amy]

And oh, a cleaning staff saw it and called the manager and said, this happened.

[Lunchbox]

Oh, okay. So the person that ate it didn't even know at that point. I don't want to know.

[Bobby Bones]

We wouldn't know. That's my point. Like, we wouldn't know unless there was something that led to us wondering more about it.

[Lunchbox]

Right. Like, they want to get those. If this news story is running. And I know that I ate there, like, don't be like, oh, it was a customer. Female, 45. No, I don't wanna know who you fed it to.

[Bobby Bones]

Did you see the thumbnail on yesterday's show? Cause she has herpes and your head was right next to it.

[Lunchbox]

Yes.

Okay, so let me tell you the story about that.

So I know, but hold on, hold on. Let me tell you the story. So I've the BobbyKast YouTube channel. I have to put the Bobby cast on Netflix now. So I don't get to put it on YouTube anymore. We just do clips. So I had to change the name of it. And I've had that BobbyKast channel for 12 years. And so it's just now obbybones channel. We put BobbyKast's clips up there and. And then we do other content that we use as podcasts on this show as well. But I've taken an entire three month basic course on how to build a YouTube channel. And the most important thing about a YouTube channel now is an absolutely attractive thumbnail. The content can be great. If the thumbnail ain't great, it don't matter. You're not getting it. So we've been. I mean, I've been doing Them with thumbnails for the show. And it says, she got herpes from a milkshake. And I was working with Brandon on it. Cause Brandon's really good at graphic design. And I said, you need to do a line that says not her pointing at Amy. Did you see the not her?

I did not see that part.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, it's on there. Go back and look at it. Or I can show it to you on my phone. Because it was the story we did about the girl drinking the milkshake got herpes. And she got herpes from the spit in it.

That's what she says. Yeah.

And so Mike and I were doing the teases, and then I sent it over to Brandon because we kind of built how the Amy's and I heads are. And, you know, we did the design of it, and. And it just said, she got herpes from a milkshake. And it's my head and Amy's head. And then I said, brandon, will you go back and put a not her arrow to Amy's head so people know we're not talking about her?

That's funny.

Okay, sure.

Did you not see it?

I mean, I knew the story, so I knew, but I knew other people don't know the story. And then it's my face, so. Okay, I totally missed the not her part.

And I send it back. He said, how's this? I said, yeah, do parentheses, not her. And then point the arrow at Amy.

So that was it. She got her piece from milkshake. Not her.

Yeah. Okay, so. So I kept reading a little more. So apparently somebody that was working there saw the whole thing, called the customer. I don't know how they got the customer's number. Call the customer and say, hey, that food that you just took home, don't eat it.

[Bobby Bones]

How'd they call the customer?

[Amy]

Yeah. I don't know. It didn't say. Like, if they knew the customer, maybe they knew them. But then the customer looked in the bag and saw that it was the same food that she said wasn't good. And then. Yeah, she said. And they spit on it.

[Bobby Bones]

Did she get herpes from it? And can we make it into a clip with Amy's head beside it?

[Amy]

And then say, not her.

[Bobby Bones]

But way small. But way small lunchbox.

[Eddie]

Yeah, this one popped up on my timeline a couple days ago. So there was a former youth pastor 20 years ago, he went for a hike with his wife in Zion national park, and he goes to set up the camera to take some pictures. They were celebrating their anniversary, and she had fallen off the cliff, plummeted to her death, and she died. And 20 years go by. Nothing ever happened.

[Bobby Bones]

His son told on him. Right. Is that the story you told us?

[Eddie]

No, no, this. That's the one where he beat her with a rock in Hawaii. This is a totally different one.

[Bobby Bones]

Oh, my God. Okay.

[Eddie]

Well, it turns out affairs with kids in the youth group, and after 20 years, they finally revealed this to police. So police did investigating, and three days ago, they arrested him, charged her with. Charged him with her murder. And then last night, he killed himself in his jail cell.

[Lunchbox]

What's his name?

[Eddie]

His name is David Vandermeer.

[Bobby Bones]

David Epstein.

[Lunchbox]

So he had affairs. I don't. Were you saying with kids in the youth group? Yeah, but I don't call that an affair.

[Bobby Bones]

Depends how old if they're over 18. Affair. Right, like one of rape.

[Eddie]

Right. Like one of them was 18. And they ended up getting married. They got married, and then they got divorced. And then she revealed to police, like, hey, you know, he said, I could never be with you unless my wife's gone. And they started looking into it, and he had upped the life insurance policy, like, a few months before she died.

[Lunchbox]

And they didn't look into that 20 years ago.

[Eddie]

Apparently you made some waves with a series of independent releases. What were those waves exactly?

I mean, I'd release, like, wait, are we on my own page?

I don't worry about it. We're on page three. But it's right here. Made some waves.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I put out a bunch of songs independently. I think that, you know, that's. That's every new artist does. And I had a song in 2022 called First Days Agone that got recognition in town, and I had the sport in Nashville, which was really exciting. Kind of led me to find my management team and my record deal.

[Bobby Bones]

And you had one of those songs. Did it blow up virally?

[Josh Ross]

Honestly, it was like, a little bit of, like. A little bit of, like, TikTok, all that kind of stuff, but it was more like I was getting playlisting love and DSPs that were like, we want to support this guy. Which was, like, really, really cool because I.

[Bobby Bones]

So people like the music more than they like the data they were seeing on the bottom of a video.

[Josh Ross]

Yes.

[Bobby Bones]

That's pretty cool. Yeah.

[Josh Ross]

And I've always been very grateful that. But I think a lot of people were championing just, like, I wasn't from here. I came to town. I knew one person. I was, like, purposely going to Red Door, bumping into people, and would honestly be, like, texting people at different DSPs, being like, hey, can you check this out? And I think that it started to pay off there in 2022. If first chase Gone was the first one that I think independently moved some things.

[Bobby Bones]

Did you do the hustle thing where you went and knocked on doors and publishing companies and record label? What is that like?

[Josh Ross]

I always remember JD Grover Groover. We tell the story to this day that I knocked on the door. I was supposed to have a meeting with him one morning. He's gonna kill me for saying this, but, like, I. I showed up and he wasn't there.

[Bobby Bones]

And what does he do?

[Josh Ross]

He was in like, he's in the publishing artist, man. He used to do John Langston or still does manage. Manage him. A few new. New artists too. And. But it was just somebody's well connected in town. And like, as soon as I found out that about somebody, I was like, all right, I got to go hang out with that guy. And I asked for a meeting and say it was at like 9:30. And I showed up and they're like, he's not here. And I texted him and he, whatever. And they're like, they're like, do you know what time he's going to be here? And I went, like, sat in his office and waited.

[Bobby Bones]

How long did you wait?

[Josh Ross]

It was probably a good hour.

[Bobby Bones]

And did they text him and say, hey, a meeting that you scheduled is here waiting?

[Josh Ross]

I don't know what the. I don't know what they did, but I do remember him being like, it's pretty cool that you did that. Like, it shows that you. You want that. And I think he had like a legit reason not to be there. And honestly, I wouldn't have probably met with me if I'm being so honest. Like, I was new. I didn't really have a ton going on. I was just looking for advice. Everybody's busy. But he took the. He took the time.

[Bobby Bones]

So whenever you just move to town and you have something that's organically hit, that gives you the confidence and even the backing of it, of people trusting you whenever you move here, like, what kind of advice are you looking for?

[Josh Ross]

Mine was just like, who are the right people? And I always said, like, I don't. I don't need somebody to open the. Like, I don't need to. Somebody, like, open the door completely for me, it's just like, tell me what doors to, like, knock on. Because I feel like there's so many doors. And that was the analogy I always use was like, which doors are the best doors to knock on, and if they open up, I'm gonna run through them. And I was like, always trying to figure out, because I did. I spent a lot of time early when I came to town. Not that, like, I got scammed, but, like, I maybe worked with not the right people, whether they thought they were helping me. On the management front or production, and I spent a lot of money, songs that maybe I shouldn't have early on, and I just learned a lot. So I, like, I was not, like, jaded by it, but I was very much like, who. Who can coach me in the right way? And. Yeah.

So do you think the coaching thing. Because I'm a big believer in coaching as well. Do you think that comes from an athletic background?

[Josh Ross]

Yeah, yeah, I think so. And everybody was, like, thinks, you know, football is, like, my background. Everybody was like, says, you know, is that the sport that, like, helped? And I feel like, yes, because I had a coach, but then I raced motocross, and my dad was my coach, and I would say that that was the most important sport that I ever took part in.

[Bobby Bones]

You still had to listen.

[Josh Ross]

I still had to listen.

You still had to grow. You had to trust somebody to take advice from so you could grow.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah. And I, like, I still. I look kind of would say I have a life coach. I guess.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, I go, you don't have to call me that. I'm just a buddy.

[Josh Ross]

I mean, we meet once a week.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, I'm just a guy, you know, a life coach.

[Josh Ross]

No, but I do. I meet with somebody once a week about my life and just talk stuff through. And I think that one is just, like, a checkup on me. I'm also somebody that, like, I'm all. I can be all over the place. So, like, it grounds me. I need to be kind of, like, I need that.

[Bobby Bones]

So I'm a big therapy guy. Is your life coach? Is that your therapy?

[Josh Ross]

It's a little bit of both. I probably vent to him about stuff in my life a little more than I should. Like, we're more in line, like, how do you make a good culture and have a good business? And, you know, it is a business. And I think that we do talk a lot about that. But then also, like, I've been going through things in my personal life where I feel like that affects the business. So it's like, you know, how do I also clean those things up and work on them and be better?

[Bobby Bones]

So who do you think you still want to do well for? Who do you want to be proud of you?

[Josh Ross]

My problem is still my coach. Dad. Yeah, I just. I mean, I owe my dad so much. So I think that they come here next week. I'm so super excited. And every time they come here, I'm excited to, like, show them the house and, you know, take my dad fishing. And for me, it's like, simple things like that. And it's a great question, though, because I feel like sometimes you're like, why? Like, what am I cha. Like, what is this for?

[Bobby Bones]

What's your dad like?

[Josh Ross]

He's just like, a hard worker. He gets up every day at like, 4, goes to work from like 6 to 4pm and my dad worked his off way harder than I ever will. So it's like, I can't complain.

[Bobby Bones]

You know, there would be times where I would just be on the road and then come back and do radio and then hop back on and just be so exhausted. Where I think for me, the greatest understanding was I am so lucky to be tired doing something I love doing. Because from where I come from, nobody gets to do what they want to do. They work at the mill or they work totally. So I had to have that moment because I would be freaking burnt. And I think for me, it was an adjustment in perspective that I get to be this tired doing what I love to do.

[Josh Ross]

How long did it take you to figure that out?

[Bobby Bones]

A while.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Because, you know, you're in the rat race for so long. Especially when you started. When I started, it was very much a new, like a nationally syndicated deal and I was just starting standup and I was just writing books and it was just do, do, do. I really wasn't appreciating anything that I was doing because I was always looking at the next thing.

[Josh Ross]

That's me. Yeah. That's 100% me.

[Bobby Bones]

And I was comparing myself to everybody else. Unfairly.

[Josh Ross]

Yep.

[Bobby Bones]

And I was burnt out. And it took one of those. And it's not a bottom, but it took one of those, like, bottom type feelings of I'm so tired. Do I want to do this? Because I know I do. And I had the fortune of having, like, that. That realization of I get to be tired doing what I love.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah. Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Literally, it's the greatest thing we could possibly be tired from.

[Josh Ross]

Sucks. I gotta go play shows and write songs and go socialize and then wake up and do it again and then

[Bobby Bones]

hop in and do an interview.

[Josh Ross]

And I'm so lucky. And I think that's for me.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, you can also be tired, though.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, I think that's where a life coach comes in. Like, somebody that can understand. I couldn't complain about half the stuff in my life to, like, my friends that are not in this weird business because they wouldn't understand. And they'd be like, shut up.

Yeah, you travel, you talk in a microphone.

Who cares?

And at the time, do you, like, did you have a personal life, too going on?

[Bobby Bones]

No.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

None. Right? There was. I had a dog that had to take on a tour bus. Like, I had to get a bus for the dog because it was my only connection.

Right.

[Eddie]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

So then I felt like I was behind so much because I did. Had no human connections back home.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Do you deal with that?

[Josh Ross]

I've been dealing with it, like, straight up. I mean, we were talking about today. I've been. I've been going through it, but it's been like, yeah. It's like, how do you have a home life that still feels normal? Ish. Because you're home a day or two a week. I have two dogs. There's. You know, we got 11 guys on a bus. It's like, you know, I spend more money in dog care than probably some people do in childcare, you know? But no, I ask that because it's an interesting time even for me just to be like, yeah, like, what grounds you? And I think you ask me, like, who do I. Who am I doing this for? I would say my dad for myself, for sure. Like, I definitely have, like, a little bit of chip on my shoulder. I always have.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah. You got to have a screw loose to do this stuff. It's the rights. It's got to be the right screw.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah, totally. Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

And also for me, I had to set a point. There's never enough.

For me, I'm unhealthy in that way. I'm sure you are, too. Right.

But there had to be a point where I reached a place where I would allow myself to get a little more healthy.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

And I think you can still run hard for a while.

[Josh Ross]

Oh, yeah.

You're in shape. You're young.

[Josh Ross]

I mean, I love it. That's. We were, like, embracing how tired we were a couple days ago.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Josh Ross]

It's like, screw loose, probably a little bit. It's like, I've slept nine hours in three days, but I'm playing my sixth show of the day, and I'm having a great time.

[Bobby Bones]

So it's like, well, you're at least playing your sixth show of the day. You may not be having a great time right now.

[Josh Ross]

But I was. And then it would be like, everybody's like, all right, we're all gonna go home. And I'm like, all right, well, who's going to. Let's go grab a drink, you know?

[Bobby Bones]

You know, dude, the loneliest thing for me would be I would do a theater of, like, 2,500, 3,000 people. I'd be having a great show. Crushing. Everybody loves me. Everybody loves me. Go back to the hotel room by yourself.

[Josh Ross]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

And it's weird.

[Josh Ross]

That's tough.

[Bobby Bones]

Cause you just went to hanging out with all these people that are giving you love and adoration for the art you created. And now you're back in a hotel room watching the Fresh Prince on BET at 1:30 in the morning by yourself.

Like that's.

I don't think people understand that life about artists.

[Josh Ross]

Totally different. Yeah. Or like, yeah. Like I said, like you come home and it's like I would. I toured a new house the other day. I was just like looking at different spots and I was like, I already live a little bit out of town, not going to say exactly where, but I was going to move a little closer to town. And I went toward like, it was like a six bedroom, four bathroom house. And I like walked around and I called Kenzie, who's here today, and I was like, every room was like decorated. One's pink one's blue one's like, I'm like, what would I be like, what would I do when I come home? Like, to me, that's weird.

[Bobby Bones]

It's weird. But I don't think you're where you need to worry about that yet.

[Josh Ross]

So I'm not moving just to say,

yeah, so no new house.

I think if I'm going to get anything, it'll be in town. Like actually in town and smaller just to be closer.

What a great decision for your point in your career right now. You're just making some money.

[Josh Ross]

Right.

Also, are you investing it back into like a lot of it back into the show?

[Josh Ross]

I think, yeah. I mean I have to, I know the show's got to get better.

I don't think that's what people understand is that, yeah, you're making more money now. You got to make the show bigger. So you got to spend the money. You're making a lot. Yeah, you're in a, you got one bus.

Two, one. Right now. Yeah, we're, we're all, we're creeping on that thing. But I, I'm, I luckily have created it. Like I, like I was saying like the culture and the, and the, the band. I'm very lucky that it's like we are a family and I'm kind of good with sleeping in a, you know, a bus with 10 people. I don't think I've ever had that thing where like I need to have my own space and, and you know, I'm very grateful that I like being surrounded by people. And it would also just be weird. I thought of that the other day. I was like, imagine rolling down the road and knowing that all the guys I hang out with are like in the bus behind me or ahead of me when I just want to still hang out with them. When you get kids, I think exactly. So when I get to the six bedroom house, grind as hard as you

can right now until you hit your bottom. Then you'll start to kind of go because you're killing it right now. It's really awesome to see. I was talking about you on something recently and I was like, I really like Josh. Really nice guy. And I should. Because you're good looking and a good athlete and a good singer and you're a good song. I shouldn't like you. I should just have to, like, put up with you.

Right.

But I like you because you're like a nice guy. And I think that probably is because of how you were raised.

Yes. Very much.

Your family. Pretty, pretty warm family.

Very warm, very huggy. My mom is like the free spirit angel. And then my dad was the. Like, this is right and this is wrong and there was no in between. So I like. I'm very, very lucky to have that balance growing up.

Do you still ride a motorcycle at all?

I have one. I can. I do, but not.

Safety, for sure. I would take a bike into town every day if I could, but I think that everybody around me would be like, no, there's no way.

Like mine was dirt bikes, but like a street bike. Like a.

Any big wrecks?

My biggest was, I had like, bad. I got like burned and chewed up kind of bad. I was probably, like, 12, 13. Yeah. I basically, like, fall off the back of the bike and where the tire spins. I got, like, caught between there and the rear fender and.

And it was like a.

Just kind of chewing me up.

So do you like, like, Travis Pastrana type guys?

[Josh Ross]

I've met Travis. Yeah. Travis is a great guy who's like, the King. He's more on, like, the freestyle side, which was. Is really cool. I didn't do, like, tricks. I was like, the racing.

Who's the LeBron of racing?

[Josh Ross]

Probably. Probably Jeremy McGrath, which I've gotten to meet, which is awesome. Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed. There's so many, like, new guys. Like, Deegan's like, this new kid that's crushing it.

He's just got, like. He's got the thing.

I never even been on a motorcycle. I got on a motorcycle once.

November of last year, and it's just now healed.

You had a bad. Like, you had to have your ankle reconstructed, right?

It took forever. I keep my miles of what I can run a mile in now without it hurting. In my phone. I'm now at 7:37:30 without it hurting.

So I keep. If I try, like, a 645 mile, which is pretty. Going pretty good.

Yeah, it's great.

It hurts.

And then when you're coming back to, you're hearing, and then when I can tell the words again, like, dang. Oh, the day is over.

A guy named Christian Yancey sent it to me. I love that none of the writers on it had had a radio song or any sort of, like, hit necessarily yet. And at that time, I was like, debating on. I'm very passionate about writing my own stuff. I probably write 75% of it, 80% of it. And I was kind of like, you know what? I need to. This is the best song. And I love that it was uptempo. It felt good, but if you weren't listening to the lyrics, you wouldn't know. It's a sad song. Like, the concept of it. And I've been in that situation. I've, like, broken up with somebody and then saw them six months later. I was like, she looks. Hate how she looks. She looks so good. So that was. I just thought it was a relatable subject and fun.

As somebody who is known for being a great writer, is it hard to take a song that you didn't write?

[Josh Ross]

It used to be, but I feel like now, like, I. I will take songs where I'm like, I'm jealous. I was not in the room that Day. And, like, that's a good thing because that means. I wish I would have wrote it. It means it hits at home. Like, it hits home for me. But, yeah, you hear, like, especially early when you come to town, you. Everybody's like, gotta write your own songs. And. And then you look at some of the greats that have done it. It's like they didn't write one of their songs. It's like they made a career.
