I. I felt like, look at me. Engaging. And I felt fine. She might be like, oh, there's my mom. And she's saying clutch. Like, I don't know. I want to connect with her in that way. But I guess if she were to voice to me like, hey, mom, that that comment was cringe, then I guess I would back out, back off. Because there's other ways for me to connect with her. You're not absent just because you're not posting on their social media.

Well, our noses don't grow when we lie, but apparently our nose temperature rises when we lie. So according to Science Daily, whenever someone is telling a lie, the temperature around their nose and the orbital muscle in the inner corner of their eye will increase if there was only a way to measure it when our kids were telling us something.

Well, a lie detector uses that, too. Like temperature when they put stuff on your fingers. So not only is it heart rate. Yeah. Your body temperature is another part of that.

And so it can go up and down. And if it goes up, that's one of the factors where they think deception is involved.

But I would also just think if I'm being put on a lie detector, whether I'm telling the truth or not. Like, I'm nervous, so I'm, you know.

I mean, I just. I love. His personality is great the way he's a villain, but he's also likable. Like, he took the month. There was one season of the Challenge where you had a partner, and at the end, you had to write down, do you Share it with your partner or do you take the money and run? You know, it's. It was one of those things I wanted to try. I did it, and the main thing is my wife loved it, so I think I'm gonna keep it for a while.

Eddie just went full bald as well. Yeah.

Yeah.

It looks good on you.

[Eddie]

It felt great, but it was great.

It's funny you're wearing a hat. Because I wore a hat for so long that even when I shaved my head every other day, I stopped wearing my hat.

You stopped wearing your hat? It feels good, right? But the problem is it gets cold quick. You notice that.

Are you, like, extra jacked?

[Tim McGraw]

I'm trying to get back in shape.

[Bobby Bones]

Like, a little bit. Like you were in shape last time, but you look extremely muscular.

[Tim McGraw]

Well, I'm. Well, I'm working at it. I'm working at it because, you know, I've gone through the last couple of years. I've had, like, seven surgeries over the last few years, so I'm slowly working myself back into shape.

[Bobby Bones]

Question, does the girl die at the end of Don't Take the Girl?

[Tim McGraw]

The mom. I think the mom probably dies. Oh, yeah.

[Amy]

I mean, but you can do.

[Tim McGraw]

Well, it makes it more sad, right?

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah.

[Eddie]

Is that not what you wanted, Bones?

[Bobby Bones]

No, no, I really wanted her. I was rooting for her.

[Tim McGraw]

I was rooting for her, too, but, you know, sadly, I don't think she made it.

[Bobby Bones]

Did you get a lot of pushback in 2004, whenever you and Nelly did, Over and over?

[Tim McGraw]

I don't remember a lot of pushback, to tell you the truth.

[Bobby Bones]

Do you think it's because there wasn't social media?

[Tim McGraw]

I think probably it wasn't social media. I don't think that people thought that much about it. In fact, I don't think it was ever planned on being a single. And I think that once the album dropped, radio stations just started playing it and picking it up and it overtook, I think, the single that they had out at the time.

[Amy]

How could you hate it, though? It's so good.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, we loved it. Obviously.

[Amy]

We love it. Yeah. But, I mean, there.

[Bobby Bones]

How did that call go? Hey, do it, Tim, you want to record the song? How'd that go?

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah, we. We. I got the call from Nelly and he had pieces of the song, and then I met him in the studio in la. And I'm not going to tell you what all happened in the studio in la. We met, but it was foggy.

[Bobby Bones]

Got it. Yeah, got it.

[Tim McGraw]

It was foggy. But the coolest thing was at the time, Robert Allen was my tour manager, and Robert works with Taylor Swift now. But Robert's brother is the drummer for Def Leppard.

[Bobby Bones]

The drummer from Def Leppard only has one arm.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Tim McGraw]

And so Rick was in the studio. He came. He and Robert and I went to the studio and hung out. And so we had a legal pad and we sat there with the track and just wrote the song as we were recording it. Had no idea how it was going to turn out.

[Bobby Bones]

Is that a lost art, writing in a studio?

[Tim McGraw]

You know, I don't know that people do it a whole lot anymore. I know it's a fantasy of mine to go into the studio and just start cutting tracks and then write stuff to it later. And you always want to do that, and you always feel like you want to do that, but. But then you get into a time crunch and then everybody's wanting the record and you're having to work and get things done really quickly so that it really doesn't happen as much as it used to.

[Bobby Bones]

I don't think. I was talking with Dirk Spent Lee and he said you gifted him a box of books at one time.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

And it was like, really thick books. And he didn't know if you were kidding or not because you were giving him, like, books on the Russian Renaissance. Was that a joke, or did you really read books about really?

[Tim McGraw]

No, I love books. I mean, I'm a big reader.

[Bobby Bones]

That clip ever get to you where Ducks was talking about that?

[Tim McGraw]

No.

[Bobby Bones]

He didn't know if you were pranking him when you gave him that?

[Tim McGraw]

I wasn't pranking him. I wasn't pranking him. I just thought he needed to be educated.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah. We were talking about piloting as well.

[Tim McGraw]

Well, he's way further advanced than I am.

[Bobby Bones]

But you were the guy he credits to getting him involved at all with flying.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah, I mean, that's what he says, but. But he's. He's way more proficient at it than I am. I fly still, but not as much as I used to.

[Bobby Bones]

Do you fly one of those planes has a parachute on it?

[Tim McGraw]

Yes, I do. The Cirrus SR22. And now I'm flying the Cirrus Vision Jet. So I'm getting my time into that.

[Bobby Bones]

Does that have a parachute on it?

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah, it still has a parachute on it.

[Bobby Bones]

You ever had to use it?

[Tim McGraw]

No, no. If you use it, the plane's ruined.

[Bobby Bones]

Is there a button that you can get to easily? Because I feel like it accidentally hits.

[Tim McGraw]

The thing you Pull the thing and the parachute plops down and you land, but the plane's destroyed.

Yes.

What do you think about him?

I think I like him.

Right. Well, I used to play which quarterback would you date? But as I've aged, that's gotten creepy because college quarterbacks are young.

I spent an hour with him yesterday.

He's fantastic, isn't he?

I did an interview. It was awesome.

[Tim McGraw]

Unbelievable. And the coolest thing about him is, you know, I perform with him years ago for one of those tribute kind of things. And his voice and his guitar amp, the tones are exactly the same. Oh, man, it's unbelievable.

[Bobby Bones]

What'd you do? What song did you do with him?

[Tim McGraw]

Don't ask me that.

[Bobby Bones]

Okay, okay. Hey, someone.

[Lunchbox]

Look.

[Tim McGraw]

I can't remember. I can't remember that far back. I can't remember what I did yesterday.

[Bobby Bones]

He was talking to me about when he. You did Born on the bio. Because that's. Because you're from. There you go. There you go. It's just from my memory, not from somebody telling me.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah, somebody telling you here?

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah. He was talking about when he wrote Proud Mary, and he wrote it in, like an hour. His. His papers came that he was discharged from the military, and he was, like, so moved. And he wrote the first line, left a good job in the city working for the man. He was like. The song just fell out of him.

[Tim McGraw]

Wow.

[Bobby Bones]

And he wrote it all down. It was like. That was the first time he ever felt like that's it now. He had some success, but he was like, that's it. You ever had one of those moments?

[Tim McGraw]

I'm waiting on it.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Tim McGraw]

I'm waiting on it. As a writer.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Tim McGraw]

My Little Girl with Tom Douglas. When we were shooting a movie called Flicka and they wanted me to write the title song for the movie. So I flew Tom Douglas out, and we spent a whole night after shooting, until sunrise the next morning, sitting outside the bus on set writing that song. And when we finished it that morning, as the sun came up, we felt like we nailed it.

[Bobby Bones]

That's cool.

[Tim McGraw]

That was. That was one of the times we felt like, really, that one. And if you're reading this, that I wrote with the Warren boys, when we were sitting around the living room one day writing that song, we felt like we had something special.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah, that one is special.

[Tim McGraw]

Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

You ever write a song and then feel emotional about it when it's done because you can see it like macro instead of micro?

[Tim McGraw]

There's a song. I don't want to go into detail about it, but there's a song that's very personal that. That I'm working on now for. For my next record that. That's really personal, that it's about my mom. That's going to be tough to. Tough to get through. Yeah.

[Bobby Bones]

If you could collaborate with any artist that's not alive.

[Tim McGraw]

That's not alive.

[Bobby Bones]

Yeah.

[Tim McGraw]

Oh, my God.

[Bobby Bones]

So you can't offend anybody because they're all dead.

[Tim McGraw]

Well, you know, Elvis would be right at the top of the list for sure.

[Bobby Bones]

Are you an Elvis guy?

[Tim McGraw]

I'm a huge Elvis fan.

[Bobby Bones]

What do you love about him?

[Tim McGraw]

I love his voice. I think that Elvis gets so characterized in a lot of ways that people don't understand what a great singer he was. If you go back and listen to. If you put headphones on and crank it wide open, listen to Love Me Tender. That's one of the best vocals that I think that you'll ever hear in your life.

[Bobby Bones]

It's our 15th year of the festival. You've been a few times. 2013, 2019, 2023. What makes this festival different than the other shows?

[Tim McGraw]

I think the different artists, the different styles of music, and everybody appreciating what everybody else does. I remember one of my best memories. I forget what year it was, but Paul McCartney was there, and he came out and sat, like, right on the side of the stage, like in the stands, but on the side of the stage during my set and was singing along to all the words and to Me, that was like the most ultimate experience that I could ever have. So when you, when you see other artists who appreciate what you do, it's a pretty special thing.

With all the holes, I guess he didn't want to get caught kicking her door in.

But you're going to get caught when she gets back because she's going to see the hole and then go, I wonder where this came from. Well, let me look where the. And it's going to lead back to his place. So what happens?

He gets arrested for breaking and entering.

Did he wear her underwear or anything?

[Lunchbox]

I didn't say anything about that, but.

I used to watch it on my grandma when it was a different version of it. I was usually good at it. His voice has kind of gone a little bit here, but he's like, hey, you should come on the show. Listen to this. I need you to come on and.
