Taryn
Hi, guys. I'm Taryn.
Mari
I'm Mari.
Taryn
And we are the Touch Up Podcast. We are two celebrity makeup artists living in Nashville. Best friends. And about a year ago, we decided to start a podcast. Obviously, it's beauty, but it's also lifestyle. It's fashion. Fashion.
Mari
Giggles.
Taryn
Yes. It's like hardcore girl talk.
Mari
Yeah. It's just getting to know a new friend or an old friend.
Taryn
Yes. Every week we have different guests on, and it's just a lot of fun. What we are doing today is we're putting a little sampler platter, a smorgasbord, if you will. A smorgasbor. A charcuterie of little bits of our favorite moments just for you guys to listen to, just to kind of see if you want to vibe with us or not. We've got Caroline Bryan, who is married to Brian Bryan, just a small indie artist. You might know him. Luke Bryan.
Unknown Host
Luke.
Mari
Luke.
Taryn
Luke Thomas Bryan. In we have Daniel Bradbury, the voice of an angel, a dear friend of ours. That's a really fun episode.
Mari
I think you guys are gonna enjoy that one.
Taryn
And Ms. Brittany Kelly.
Unknown Host
Yeah.
Taryn
We just wanted to put a little sampler platter together for you guys to listen to and hopefully subscribe and listen to us every week.
Mari
Just a silly little podcast.
Taryn
Just a fun, silly little podcast. Exactly. Before we let you guys go, though, I just wanted to say a huge congratulations to us for being so awesome that Bobby Bones wanted to sign us.
Mari
Yeah. Wow.
Taryn
Yeah. Onto his podcast.
Mari
Amazing.
Taryn
But thank you so much, Bobby, and the Nashville Podcast Network for taking a chance on us. We're really excited to be a part of the family, and we're excited to be a part of the Iheart family. Enjoy this little snippet, and we hope you come back and continue to join us every Wednesday to listen to the Touch up podcast.
Mari
They're gonna come back.
Taryn
I think they're gonna come back.
Mari
I think I have a really strong.
Taryn
Really strong feeling too.
Mari
They're gonna come back.
Taryn
Okay. Okay.
Mari
All right.
Taryn
See you later.
Brittany Kelly
Bye.
Taryn
Hello.
Mari
Hi, Darren.
Taryn
Get a little touch up. Hi, I'm Taryn.
Mari
I'm Mari.
Taryn
And you're listening to the Touch Up. We hope you're picking up what we're putting down. Brian, the wonderful, beautiful, hot, sexy, blonde.
Unknown Host
God, you're a hype girl. Thank you.
Taryn
She's a singer, a dancer, choreographer, singer, mom.
Unknown Host
None of those mom.
Taryn
Like, I've literally had those talent, philanthropists. The pranking queen. Oh, man.
Unknown Host
No. I've been out of touch with that For a while. I know, but a little break.
Mari
You're so funny.
Unknown Host
I feel like it's so saturated now. Everywhere I turn somebody's doing pranks or a prank show. And then when I went through the dreaded hip surgery, I just kind of took a step back from a lot of social media because I think everybody needs a break.
Mari
Yeah.
Unknown Host
So I took a long break and I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I'm thinking about it.
Taryn
She likes to prank.
Mari
I do. I love a good scare. I love.
Unknown Host
Yes, it's a good scare. Somebody's like face. That's why I did a lot of slow mo is watching their face when they.
Mari
Yeah.
Unknown Host
I mean, because it's just. It's perfect.
Mari
The ones where like people paint their faces black and then stand in like just a dark.
Taryn
Thank you.
Mari
Pupils of their eyes.
Unknown Host
Yeah.
Taryn
Wow. Oh, my God.
Mari
No, we all have that one person who like, if you go to scare them, they're like, they hate you for it.
Unknown Host
My mother in law. That's why I had to calm down. Pranking her. She legit got pissed at me.
Taryn
Oh, really?
Unknown Host
She got scared a couple of times and now she misses it. Mama, don't act like you don't miss it.
Taryn
But is this mom?
Unknown Host
Yes.
Taryn
Oh, my gosh. What's her name again?
Unknown Host
LeClaire.
Taryn
Okay, man, Looklair.
Unknown Host
No, we call her Hurricane Salem because she smokes Salem. And when she comes into a room, it's like a hurricane.
Mari
Like the long.
Unknown Host
I think they're like in the green or something. I bought her a box once and I.
Taryn
A box of them.
Unknown Host
Well, I had to take it back because she told me I got the wrong one.
Taryn
Oh, okay.
Unknown Host
And so I went to exchange them at the grocery store and the girl was cracking up. I was like, I don't know. Cigarettes. Like, I just. She told me Salem. So I just got out.
Taryn
How long have we known each other? I met you. Yeah. I think I just like did your glam for something and then.
Unknown Host
And it was so cool. And I just loved you.
Taryn
And then every year, you and Luke, my old friend that I used to like do lots of photo shoots with, we would do all your Christmas cards and you would always redo a scene from Christmas vacation. Christmas vacation.
Unknown Host
Our family. Our family is. We are at the Griswold.
Taryn
You are the Griswold.
Unknown Host
We are 100 Lucas Clark made over.
Mari
First time I met you, you were doing a shoot with your best friends.
Unknown Host
Yeah. Oh, yes. That was so fun.
Taryn
Thank you for being a friend. Still have that picture, girl?
Unknown Host
Yes. That was so Much fun. We went out to eat in character, and the people just stared at us like they didn't know what to think.
Taryn
They didn't know what you think.
Unknown Host
They truly. They truly were trying to figure out if we were senior citizens.
Mari
Yeah.
Unknown Host
Like, really older or if we were just being idiots going to a Halloween party.
Mari
It was legit.
Taryn
Oh, it looks so good.
Mari
You help me do makeup for Caroline. Bryan and her friends are doing a Golden Girl, the Golden Girls photo shoot. I was like, for what?
Unknown Host
It was for Halloween. But if we just wanted to, we talked about it forever, and I was like, let's do it.
Taryn
Yeah. I know you're a product junkie as.
Unknown Host
Much as I am.
Taryn
Any of us are, but tell me more about, like, your skincare routine. And, like, what are your favorite, favorite, favorite, must have things.
Unknown Host
Favorite things I use every morning. I use hyaluronic acid serum, and sometimes I use a brightening serum. And then always sunscreen because I have to. And at night, we preach it on the pod. At night, La Mer cream.
Mari
Oh, my God.
Unknown Host
I love that stuff. No, it's.
Mari
It's worth.
Unknown Host
Feels good. So those are my go tos that I will always have.
Taryn
And I love La Mer, too, because it never irritates me or breaks me out. Is that what luxury is?
Unknown Host
And you get every drop out of it. Like, you'll be like, using your finger to get.
Taryn
I feel like, oh, my credit's going down. But the oil is so good. So good. Shout out Lamar, friend of the pod. What other brands do you die for?
Unknown Host
Makeup? I love Clay Depot. I do. I've made so many friends pissed at me because. Because their foundation, I mean, it's not cheap. It will last me months because you don't have to use much. And so they've tried it, and now they're like, okay, I'm hooked now.
Mari
Yeah.
Unknown Host
And they're like, I'm going to spend 100 bucks on foundation. I know. That is how much it is, but it will last me months. So don't. Don't judge me for spending that much.
Taryn
I'm like having a vision of you in a yellow dress.
Unknown Host
I wore yellow to my niece's wedding. It was the most beautiful dress. Most beautiful yellow dress. And that night, I mean, her friends and our family just had a ball. I slipped, and when I sat down.
Taryn
No, I know.
Unknown Host
I sat in somebody's vomit.
Mari
Oh, no.
Unknown Host
Thank God it was the very end.
Taryn
Somebody. It was vomit.
Unknown Host
Yes. Oh, thank God it was the very end of the night. And this is gross. There was a certain Part of the floor that was slippery, and I slipped, and when I sat, I heard squish, and I stood up, and I was like, did I? And my friend was like, you just sat and puke And I'll start.
Taryn
Okay, on that note, see you later. Tune in every Wednesday new episodes of a beauty podcast that has nothing to do with beauty.
Mari
Hey, Taryn. Danielle Bradbury.
Taryn
I know I can. Awesome. I've known you since you were 16.
Brittany Kelly
Yeah.
Taryn
Now you're.
Danielle Bradbery
Yeah, I'm 28. Eight.
Taryn
Oh, my God. I'm 41.
Mari
I'm 44. Wait, that's crazy.
Taryn
I know.
Danielle Bradbery
And you came in not long after.
Mari
Not long after, yeah. You were just a really little baby. That's why. And I haven't seen you in so long. And watching you walk in, I know it's crazy. In this new with Coffee woman, Danielle Bradbury. Like, this energy and this light and this fire about you.
Brittany Kelly
Oh, thank you.
Mari
We got to talk about your journey, girl.
Taryn
I know.
Danielle Bradbery
It's been a journey.
Taryn
Yeah, I've been on a journey.
Danielle Bradbery
Yeah.
Taryn
Are you on a label currently?
Danielle Bradbery
No.
Taryn
Okay. Love that for you.
Danielle Bradbery
I was on it for 10 years.
Mari
Yeah.
Taryn
Yeah. When did you clean house?
Brittany Kelly
Like, two days ago.
Taryn
I love that. Okay. I didn't want to. Like, that's why you're glowing. Yeah. I didn't want to say.
Mari
How do you feel about it?
Danielle Bradbery
I feel good. I feel good. I'm in therapy. Yeah, I am. And I walked in the other day, and she's like, you look fresh.
Mari
Yeah. I'm like, you can tell. That's a very real thing. Energy. Like, your vibe is that. You walked in glowing. You brought this energy. Danielle Bradbury.
Danielle Bradbery
I literally just told one of my best friends last night. I text her. I was like, I. I feel like a weight is lifted. She's like, as you should.
Taryn
Yeah. This isn't just because I've known you for 100 years and because I love you, but you truly have one of, if not like, the best voices in this town.
Mari
May I?
Taryn
Yeah, please.
Mari
That video of you with your body.
Taryn
Wait, which one?
Mari
Your body. It was just you and your body.
Danielle Bradbery
It was like windows.
Taryn
You wearing, like, a leotard.
Danielle Bradbery
Yeah.
Mari
Yeah. Beautiful song.
Taryn
Yeah.
Mari
I commented, like, in all caps on it.
Danielle Bradbery
No one in all caps. That was me.
Mari
But that was fire. That was fire.
Danielle Bradbery
It was fun. I think that whole thing, everything, video, pictures, it was just something I needed to do.
Taryn
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Danielle Bradbery
The amount of comments that I get. Oh, she's changed. She's gone to pop and da, da, da.
Mari
Da.
Taryn
What do people think? Like, are you supposed to stay a little girl forever?
Mari
You know, a little. You're not supposed to grow and evolve and transcend.
Taryn
That's so whack. Why did I just have a vision that I want you and Tori Kelly to do something? Do you know her?
Danielle Bradbery
Everyone keeps saying that.
Taryn
Okay, weird.
Mari
Her visions or something.
Taryn
I get, like, weird.
Mari
You're like Teresa Caputo.
Taryn
I like Teresa.
Danielle Bradbery
So many people have told me this.
Taryn
Okay.
Danielle Bradbery
Like, recently. Okay, that is crazy.
Taryn
You said you guys are actually very similar. I've worked with her a couple times.
Danielle Bradbery
I love her.
Taryn
Do something with her. Okay. Can we dive into boys?
Mari
I was just you and me. I was. My next question Boyfriend.
Taryn
Okay, wait. Okay. So you guys have been together for.
Danielle Bradbery
A year and a half, but okay. It's so healthy. It's the hardest one I've ever been in because it's so healthy.
Mari
Can you explain that, please?
Danielle Bradbery
Because I came from toxic relationships. I was so used to that.
Taryn
Yeah.
Danielle Bradbery
And then I had the biggest trust issues, insecurities, all these things. And then I get in with this one and he's stable, he's secure, he has a good job. It has been the hardest. Like, trusting him and not bringing Pat is up.
Mari
Was there a moment where he went, I don't know if this is going to work out, Daniel.
Danielle Bradbery
Danielle, we've had a lot of hard conversations. And what's also different is we don't have screaming matches. For the first time in my life.
Taryn
Wow.
Mari
That's all I know.
Taryn
How old is he?
Danielle Bradbery
He's 27, but he is so much beyond his years. I mean, we have our moments. We've had our disagreements. Everyone does, obviously.
Taryn
Yeah.
Danielle Bradbery
And we fought, but it's not, like, so toxic. It's like we actually have conversations and we're disagreeing, but then we always come back around and we say, sorry.
Taryn
Yeah, I know.
Danielle Bradbery
We apologize.
Taryn
I love you so much.
Danielle Bradbery
Love you all.
Mari
Yeah, we love you.
Taryn
Thanks for coming. Brittany. Kelly, you have such a good face to do glam on.
Brittany Kelly
Thank you.
Taryn
Yeah, you have. You have good face. No.
Brittany Kelly
Are you all proud of me? I'm doing my makeup. So good for them.
Taryn
Yeah. French girl, chic.
Brittany Kelly
Yeah.
Mari
You do a beautiful job. You are such the epitome of, like, laid back beach. Oh, my God. 100 effortless beauty shredded Nar narna. Do you shred nar nar?
Brittany Kelly
Do you? I don't shred a lot of narnar, but I will. But I will get on, like, a long board and just shred a little narnar. Shred a tiny bit of narnar. Hey, buttercup.
Mari
What's your story?
Taryn
We'd love to know where you're from.
Brittany Kelly
Where I'm from? I'm from this tiny little town called Flow Villa, Georgia.
Mari
Fl.
Taryn
You sound like you're from Georgia.
Brittany Kelly
Flow Villa.
Taryn
It's very faint.
Brittany Kelly
When I go back home, they're like, you lost your exact. But if you can imagine, they think I lost it.
Taryn
Yeah, of course.
Brittany Kelly
But, yeah, it's. It's tiny little town in Georgia. I grew up with my grandmother. Just us two.
Mari
Really?
Brittany Kelly
Yeah. Yeah.
Mari
Wow.
Brittany Kelly
So we were like two children.
Mari
Is she still here?
Brittany Kelly
She's not. She. She passed away tragically when I was 17 in this terrible situation. But, yeah, I was kind of on my own at 17 and just flew the coop. Went straight to college.
Mari
Where'd you go to college?
Brittany Kelly
Started off at Georgia Southern, and then I transferred into uga. I wasn't smart enough to originally get into uga.
Taryn
You had to lube it up?
Brittany Kelly
Well, my nana worked literally two jobs to send me to private school, so I was kind of like this black sheep. Like, I literally grew up in, like, a trailer, but I went to private school, so, like, was around all these kids.
Mari
That's not normal. Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
Like, one of my girlfriends literally, like, would land on the baseball field in her helicopter, like, if she was late to school.
Mari
Wow.
Brittany Kelly
So it was like very, like, black sheep vibes. Like, I definitely didn't feel like I fit in, but I got a great education, play a lot of sports. Yeah. I went to kind of was on my own at 17, went to college.
Mari
Did all your friends there know your story, like, where you came from too.
Brittany Kelly
Or was it something. Yeah, I mean. I mean, I don't know how deep y' all want to get in the story or how deep y' all get.
Mari
But whatever you want to share, you.
Brittany Kelly
Know, she was killed at my house.
Taryn
Your grandmother?
Brittany Kelly
Yes. It was. It was like a murder suicide situation. And I'm. I'm good now talking about it.
Taryn
Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
But. So everybody in my class knew it was like an absolute, like, uproar in the city. It was by the guy she was dating.
Mari
Oh, my God.
Brittany Kelly
So it was. Yeah, I've had some time to heal from it, luckily, but it was pretty gnarly situation being 17 right before Christmas in the middle of my senior year. So it really did just, like, blow my life up.
Taryn
That's.
Mari
So sorry. I'm so sorry.
Brittany Kelly
Yeah, it was wild. And so, yeah, I just was on my own. I finished school, went to on your own? Yeah. No, it really did make me the person I am.
Mari
I mean, how could it not?
Brittany Kelly
So I studied psychology because of it, because I was like, I got to figure my brain out. Like, I want to help other people. Like, I instantly went into therapy. Like, it was this whole journey.
Taryn
That's smart of you.
Brittany Kelly
Well, you know, my parents were addicts, and so it was like a big reflection of, like, hey, I have, like, two paths. Like, totally tap out and. And be what my family's come from your circumstance or I was like, I remember kind of, like, having an aha moment. It's like, you know what? Life's like Monopoly. Like, let me just see if I can just what I can squeeze out of it. You know, just, like, powerhouse. Like, went in that direction and just. Just did it. Like, I got a job. Like, I was, like, working at Buffalo Wild Wings.
Taryn
Yes, you were girls giving that wang. Some people.
Mari
So hot.
Taryn
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Brittany Kelly
And, yeah, I just, like, went through school. Like, I, like, applied for scholarships. Like, just made it happen and finally got into Georgia, learned psychology. Like, I was like, wow, like, really understood the brain and, like, developmental psychology and, like, helped a lot of other people on my journey. And me and my now husband of almost 12 years.
Mari
Who's your husband?
Taryn
I know. Oh. Oh, you're married?
Brittany Kelly
My husband, Brian. And so, yeah, I mean, I just really put my head down in school. I started a business at the time, it was called Wonder Town. It was, like, handmade jewelry and custom T shirts, and I would basically go, like, to this downtown, like, thrift shop and get all this broken jewelry for free, and I would just remake it into stuff.
Mari
And you were still in Georgia?
Brittany Kelly
I was at Georgia, yeah.
Taryn
Okay.
Brittany Kelly
When I went to uga, I was like, I have to. To, like, put my hands in something.
Mari
Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
What's the quote? It's like, idle hands are the devil's playground.
Mari
Yeah. And creative. Like, you needed to be creative and use it.
Brittany Kelly
Yeah, I need to be doing something. And so, yeah, I got into, like, jewelry making, and, like, I was going on some mission trips and, like, bringing back some, like, goods from Guatemala and, like, selling them and kind of incorporating charity.
Mari
Yeah. Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
And I loved it. Like, I. That's kind of where I discovered I love customers. Like, I love customer service. One of my favorite thing to do is, like, connect with a customer, make something happen. Custom. Like, write him a little note and, like, wrap it and, like, send it to him.
Taryn
Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
Something about that was firing me up inside.
Taryn
Yeah.
Brittany Kelly
I practically got married my last semester and hopped on a tour bus with, like, 12 dudes.
Taryn
Wait, so you knew Brian?
Brittany Kelly
That's a funny story. Y' all don't know that story, right? No, but me and BK Met while we were dating siblings. We met at Thanksgiving. What?
Taryn
How?
