I'm Mangesha Teegular and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blue zoners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.
Lunchbox
I'd say probably start bone smashing.
Ray
That doesn't work. To make it look more defined. They say it works.
Lunchbox
I don't know.
Ray
Listen to Skyline, how to live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Lunchbox
Oh, finally.
Ray
Yeah, we're behind. We're backlogged.
Lunchbox
I mean, I asked you, did you do anything in Boomer? No, not really. We didn't do anything.
Nora Jones
Cool.
Lunchbox
And now this pops in your memory bank.
Ray
Well, you're not gonna like it because it's me bashing golf for about five to 10 minutes.
Lunchbox
I'm glad because we got about five to 10 minutes to bash golf because I have a golf story as well.
Ray
Guys, we're the Sore Losers podcast. We're a spin off of the Bobby Bones Show. We're from Nashville, Tennessee. We both live in Nashville, Tennessee. We're called the Sore Losers, and we're going to do it live.
Lunchbox
Yeah, we are the one.
Bretzky
What?
Lunchbox
I thought you were to go. We're doing live.
Ray
We're doing it live. I hate doing that, so I'm trying to move away from it.
Lunchbox
Why?
Ray
I just don't like. Because it's copying Bill O'Reilly.
Lunchbox
No, it's making fun of Bill O'Reilly.
Ray
We're going to do it live. We are the 1, 2, 3.
Lunchbox
So, loser. What up, everybody? I am Lunchbox. I know the most about sports, so I'll give you the sports facts, my sports opinions, because I'm pretty much a sports genius.
Ray
We are 99 days away from the Sore Losers convention In Nashville, Tennessee, 2027, MLK Day weekend, the same host city of the Super bowl in 2030. This convention is in 2027, brought to you by Freeland Chevrolet. What up, y'?
Apollo Sponsor
All?
Ray
Sizzle from the north, alpha male. Also from the west, Wyoming. Haven't recently. I haven't always said that I'm from the west, but yes, as of recently, I'm from the west. Also from the north, Also from Texas, also from the west side of Nashville. Also from downtown Nashville, former mayor of Lower Broadway. Now I live in the country, a quieter life, 20 minutes from the city. Corn fields and corn cobs and a lot of shucking going on up there, y'. All. But anyways, I got a wife. We got 2.3 acres. I got two kids in a freezer at Vanderbilt. They're eggs and they need to be fertilized. Justin should be checking on him, but he moved to Michigan. He works basically on a dinghy on Gun Lake and then goes to the casino on Friday and loses $20 of discretionary income. But that's all I got. Coach over to you, man.
Lunchbox
He loved his dog. And your kids.
Ray
Well, his dog's dead.
Lunchbox
Wow. Okay. But, yeah, Ray, every year, it's. It's amazing how you get your hopes up. You get excited, you fill out the application, you say, yes, I would like to go to the Masters, please. I would love a ticket to enter the gates in Augusta, Georgia, to see Amen corner up close in personal touch. That grass with your own hand, your own feet. Put your lawn chair there and watch them attack the par 3. Watch them go over Ray's Creek. Watch them walk the hallowed grounds that is Augusta National.
Ray
Forgot one.
Lunchbox
What?
Ray
Jim Nance, the azaleas are in bloom.
Lunchbox
Dang it. You want to see those azaleas? You want to stick your nose up in them and say, wow, this is what I've been dreaming about all my life. When I see it on tv, you want that feeling.
Ray
I mean, every time, every Sunday, Jim Nance acts like he just smelled Dottie Pepper's fart. He's like, the azaleas. It's the Masters on cbs, nothing else.
Lunchbox
Like it. Sunday at Augusta. What the. So every year, when it's time to do it, I fill out the application saying, hey, please put me in the selection process, drawing whatever you want to call it for the Masters. And yesterday I got the email, thank you.
Ray
Oh, to the Sore Losers account.
Lunchbox
No, that would be, we are the sore losersmail.com. but I should try that. Maybe they'll see that we are a podcast and they would accept my invitation because this one says, thank you. Thank you for submitting your 2027 ticket application. We have now completed the ticket selection process for the Masters Tournament. Augusta National, Women's Amateur and Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. Unfortunately, your entry was not selected this year. We are deeply appreciative of the tremendous interest we receive each year in attending the tournament. Sorry. Maybe next year. And so I have been rejected. Once again, I am not going to the Masters. And I am starting to wonder, do they even give new people a chance? Or are new people automatically kicked out? Because I've never been before, so they're never going to select me again.
Ray
How many people get selected? 30,000.
Lunchbox
That's a great question.
Ray
I don't. Google.
Lunchbox
I don't know, because I wonder how many are. No, it has to be, like, because the British Open this weekend, there was 300,000 throughout the weekend.
Ray
Okay. And I would imagine 300,000. Oh, I was thinking millions. Okay. So let's just say use that exact same number.
Lunchbox
So.
Ray
So 300,000. And how many people get selected? You said, I don't.
Lunchbox
That's what I'm saying.
Ray
I would say there's got to be all the. Oh, the good fellas, they get let in. Oh, I was grandfathered in. My granddaddy was born on the Masters. You got a lot of those guys. Old Boat Boys. You got the celebrities. Eric Dodd could probably get us in. We just never can take time off work.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
I mean, but let me do the math real quick.
Lunchbox
It has to be a negotiation.
Ray
Let's just say 30,000 people or 50,000.
Lunchbox
100,000.
Ray
Okay. 100,000 of random people they're letting in there. No, they got to control it.
Lunchbox
No, it has to be at least 100,000.
Ray
Okay, so 300,000 divided by 103. Wait, how many people apply? That's what I need to do.
Lunchbox
Yeah, we have no idea how many people apply.
Ray
Okay, so millions. So millions.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
I mean, probably, let's say 5 million. That's probably a good estimate. Divided by 100,000. 50% chance, statistical citizen.
Lunchbox
Hey, thanks for bringing the statistical citizen right to us. I really appreciate it.
Ray
I'm imagining you probably have similar to a roulette spin.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
And you ever you hit, I mean, you got kind of that those odds.
Lunchbox
Well, here's the thing, Greg. Oh, rejected again, Garrett. I got rejected again, Jacob. Oh, I got my email. I'm not going. And then another guy want denied. But this morning, this morning, Garrett texts, hey, Reb got selected again. Second time in 11 years he's been picked. A guy he used to work with at the grocery store. How does he get picked twice in 11 years? And I've been doing it for I don't know how many years and I've never even got a sniff. I mean, unbelievable to get selected twice in 11 years. That's what I'm saying. Like once you get in and you actually go, you use your tickets. I feel like they give you priority and they put you back in the top.
Ray
Those are your odds. So to say 10 million people apply, they select 100,000. You have a 1% chance. Thank you. I'll hang up and listen.
Lunchbox
So, yes, I will not be at the Masters this weekend this year. I mean, I won't be there on Sunday with Jim Nance. I won't get to touch the water. I won't be able to see the pine needle, the pine straw where, you know, Bubba Watson whipped it out of there and raked it around. I'm not going to see any of
Ray
that, but we'll get to see it. Beth Page again with your gay friend. Guy friend. Did not mean to say that.
Lunchbox
Yeah. And so there you go, Right? We were on tv.
Ray
Check our socials. Yeah, we were sore losers podcast on Instagram.
Lunchbox
We were on tv. I was right there up in the middle of the Ryder Cup. I was a key part of the Ryder cup team. Almost brought USA back from an unreal deficit. We came up a little Short, but that's here nor there.
Ray
That's right. The one tournament you got to go to, they were behind the entire time.
Lunchbox
They were. But they started making a comeback that day. But yes. So the Masters, if you applied and you got rejected, don't feel bad. I got rejected, too. But who cares about the Masters when you have Ray and Boomer at the golf course after the break. No, no. Just right now.
Ray
So I was just thinking about this, and this isn't going to be good because you just pumped up golf. I'm here to say just how much golf kind of sucks. So. So. So me and Boomer, we played yard golf. Phenomenal. You get these oversized clubs at Dick's. Dick's other nephew loves going to Dick's. I think it's because of the name, but he goes, hey, can we go to Dick's? Okay, Asher, whatever. The guys, the nephews, the guy, they all love going to Dicks. So anyways, you get these oversized clubs, you basically get wiffle balls, and you play yard golf. You make a course three, par three. It's a blast. Bazer can play. Me and Boomer played it all day. This. This was over 4th of July.
Lunchbox
This is why golf sucks.
Ray
That was the fun part of golf. Oh. So we decide to book a golf tee time, and we go do it, and it's 100 degrees, so it's. It's just already miserable. Me and Boomer get there. We're, whatever, 45 minutes early. Can we get on early? Oh, no, no, no. What is it? What do you think it is? Oh, it's all the Grant. It's the old, good old boys. They get to go out in their group of nine. Oh, got to clear the way. She could have easily got us out there. Wasn't trying to bend over backwards. Didn't care about us. I called before. Hey, can he rent some lefty clubs? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're all set. We get there, there's no driver, so Boomer's got to go with a hybrid, which is fine. It was a type. Of course, you necessarily didn't need a driver. This is all suckiness. Okay, I know that's usually your angle, how much stuff sucks, but this really sucked.
Lunchbox
No, mine doesn't always suck. Sometimes it's awesome.
Ray
There's no buttholes and rainbows on this one. This all was just sucky. So we're at the first tee, and a guy pulls up, and Boomer goes, who's he? Why is he playing with us? Boomer? Didn't know you get paired with Somebody.
Lunchbox
Oh, my. Has he never played golf?
Ray
He has, but usually they have a foursome.
Lunchbox
Okay, that makes sense.
Ray
He had no idea. And we get. He goes, why is this guy with us? And I go, boomer. At golf courses, I just forgot how much that kind of sucks. You randomly get paired sometimes with people. So we're with that guy. First tee, Boomer, hybrid. What do you know? It's not his driver. So Boomer hits it about, I don't know, 1,000 miles in the air, right above us, 10ft in front of him because he's using a hybrid instead of a driver.
Lunchbox
Or he just teed up too high because golf sucks.
Ray
You're talking about an inch of difference. The margins, unbelievable when it comes to golf. So hole one, you know, hole two, hole three. This course just doesn't have lush green. Unless I'm in Cancun, where I've got a foot that I could miss the ball because there's so much lush green and still hit a good shot. This one, I'm like, boomer, move it a foot. First three holes, dude, just move it a foot over. You're not hitting off dirt. Like, you literally need the. You need the margins with the green grass so that you can get the ball in the air. Just move it out of the dirt. Like, why. Why is golf so stupid? I need good grass. I need the Masters. Hell of a Segway. First hole, I go, boomer, don't. Just don't hit it to the right. Boomer's got a great shot. I go, dude, we're about to get onto the green. Boomer, just don't hit it to the right. There's long grass. We'll never find the ball. Boomer hits it to the right. Golf sucks. So we got to go in this.
Lunchbox
That means Boomer sucks. That has nothing to do with golf.
Ray
So we're in this long ass grass, and what do you know? The guy that we're playing with just, like, finishes up while we're looking for the ball. Oh, well, I mean, I don't know, Boomer. This guy is just. I got something stuck right up his butt. So now he's on to the next one, I guess. Let's just drop your ball. So already Boomers popped up the ball. He's had to do a drop. He's had to move his ball because of the dirt. It's all just suckiness so far. Then we get to the second one. This guy that we're with is pretty good. Had some dope pumas on. Had no idea they Made amazing golf shoes. And he was actually kind of a cool guy, so I don't want to rip on him. Very nice. And he had a guy. No, he's, like, our age.
Lunchbox
Okay.
Ray
Had a family, kids, hopefully. He doesn't listen to this. I'm just, like, bashing him. But great golfer margins are so small in golf. He chili dips it. On this second hole. It was a perfect par three. He chilly dips it. A great golfer. And he hit. Used the wrong club or whatever it was. Missed by a centimeter. And he hits it, like, 20ft. Like, what a waste of a hole. And so this guy who's really good at golf has to go play his ball 20ft off the tee box.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
It's just unfair. Like, golf's just so unfair and stupid. The guy was actually a good golfer. Wasted hole. We're only playing nine, and this guy just wasted one of them. Next hole.
Lunchbox
Well, there's your problem. What, playing nine?
Ray
Yeah, it was 110.
Lunchbox
Oh, my God. Oh, no.
Ray
This heat. This is three weeks ago. Can we do poll hole three? The finishing after the break?
Lunchbox
No, we got time.
Ray
Not after the break. So we're on to the third. Okay. We. Who knows? I think I ten putted. Love golf, man. I'm a. I got it on the green. And two and ten putted.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
Because I'm flustered. That guy's moving quick. So we go to the third. What do you know on the third? It's a hole. You have to drive a quarter mile to go see if there's golfers over the hill so you don't hit them. So I drive all boomers, like, on the way. Where are you going, Boomer? I have to go see if there's golfers. Because you hit them. You could kill them. So I go all the way over.
Lunchbox
You don't want to go full. Came brown on him.
Ray
No. Nobody up there, guys. And so then I drive all the way back, and we tee off.
Lunchbox
Yep.
Ray
And everything was fine on that hole. Can't really remember. It was an insane slope. So unless you. Oh, of course. Something went wrong on that hole, Boomer. Great first shot. A great second shot. But the parking lots within 15ft of the hole. So it kind of will gradually go up onto the parking lot. We can see his ball. We can see it. And I go, boomer, let's go get it right now. Because there's people in the parking lot, cars. They will knock that ball every which way. We hurry. We're going to the ball. We're gunning it some dude in the parking lot just picks up his ball because we couldn't find it for the life of this.
Lunchbox
Yeah. When you see a ball in the parking lot, you assume someone dropped it out of their bag. They don't think. You don't think they're bad enough to hit it the 100 yards to the right of the green. So you wouldn't assume that someone is playing that ball. So I'm with the guy in the parking lot.
Ray
We go to the fifth hole, if you will, and it's one of those holes where you can hit it anywhere. On a left fairway, right fairway, and you're good. Even the middle, there's a tree line. I hit it one foot to the right, it goes in some guy's yard. And it's one of those yards you can't play in. And it wasn't even that bad of a shot. Love golf. Perfectly hit. Missed the fairway by a foot, and it's already in some guy's yard. Why do they let those people live that close to the golf course? Not on the tour do they do that. So we finish that one up, go to the other one. What do you. We're on the 6th. What do you know? We're just waiting for people. Just sitting there in 110 degree heat, waiting for people. And this guy comes over and starts doing awkward conversation. So where do you go to school? And Boomer, like, I guess, doesn't know how to talk. Boomer, the guy. Boomer goes, oh, I commute. I go four hours. And the guy goes, you commute four hours to college? And I'm like, I just let Boomer just, like, sink. I'm not even talking.
Lunchbox
Yeah, there's no need to save him.
Ray
And Boomer's like, yeah, yeah. The guy's like, man, that's insane. Every day, driving four hours to college. And Boomer doesn't say anything. I go, he's leaving one thing out. He's has an apartment there. He's gonna stay on campus. But it's a initial four hour commute to college for the fall. I'm like, boomer, you gotta learn the stories you're telling people. That made no sense to him. He was so confused. So we're small, talking with this chump Boomer, just playing with clubs that aren't his. Because what do you know? Golf sucks. You got to travel with your clubs. Nobody has good lefties. So Boomer's hitting the ball fine, but it's just missing. And so he's always chasing the Ball. And it's. It's one of those. Not a cart path. So what do you know? Boomer has to run all the way back and get another club because he doesn't know the clubs. They're not his.
Lunchbox
Oh, cart path only is rough, dude.
Ray
Then we get to the seventh. I wish I was making up all these bad things. Boomer misses the green by 10ft.
Lunchbox
Oh.
Ray
Goes in the other fairway. So what do you know? He's sitting behind a tree.
Apollo Sponsor
Hi.
Ray
Hi there, mister. Can I shoot? The guys can't hear him. The guys are about to drive him. Like, Boomer, get behind a tree. You about to get Kane browned again on the golf course. Who knew it could happen this much? So Boomer ducks in. Then the next guy. Oh, you can go. Okay, well, so you guys are going to. One of you is going to rush. Then one of you is going to be standoffish. And I'm like, okay, Boomer. So go. So Boomers rushed, doesn't hit a good shot. He probably ice snowman it and got an eight on the hole. Me, I landed on the green.
Lunchbox
Whoa.
Ray
It was my one par. Okay, But I'm not even celebrating the par. Why? Because Boomer just got a snowman? Because some guy was about to peg him in the face with a golf ball.
Lunchbox
Are you worried about Boomer? Score your score.
Ray
Both, but also our fun. At this point, we're not even keeping score. So then we get to the eighth.
Lunchbox
Good God. Six holes in, you guys give up on score. That's ridiculous.
Ray
That's typically pretty standard. But the eighth, I. I get out my hybrid. And the margins in golf, you'll hear me say this. I may have missed by an inch. And guess what? My club digs into the tee box, jerks my whole back. I chili dip it. I mean, it was a whole bowl of chili. The ball lands in the creek.
Lunchbox
Oh, no.
Ray
And I mean, my club's full of mud, dude. It feels like I just broke my back because I hit the grass so hard. So at that point, I'm just pissed. I'm like, screw it. I'll just drive the cart over. I'm not even going to swing this hole. So I just went and dropped with Boomer. Didn't even play that hole. Paid for nine, played eight. Wow. Then we go to the final hole.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Ray
What do you know? All that frustration. I play my best hole, hit the hybrid. Absolutely beautiful. But I don't even get to enjoy it because I'm pissed off that it's so sunny. We weren't drinking. The guy we were with is like asking us where the 10th hole is. I'm like, I. I don't know, dude. It's like a small course. It's literally right next he goes, I've never played scores for worst 10th. I'm like, okay, so it's just right over there, right to that. He goes back to the first hole. So then, well, they are right by each other. They are. And so I'm like, I'm like, it's. It's one over. Yeah, yeah, we already played that one, so that wouldn't be 10. And he asked me, where's the ninth hole? Is originally what he asked me. And I go, the ninth hole. The guy didn't know that, like the first nine and then the next nine. And he was good at golf. So with the ninth hole. And I was like, huh? Yeah, it's just right over there. He, I think he still to this day thinks that he played the ninth hole. I'm like, bro, you're playing the 10th, you finish nine. Every golfer knows that. But then he couldn't find the 10th hole. Oh, over there. Yep, over one, because we already played that one. That one was one. And then you said that you thought that was nine, but that's actually 10. I'm yelling to a stranger, wasting my energy because he doesn't know where number 10 is on this golf course. And so then me and Boomer, what do you. I mean, we just get back in our vehicle. It's. We've sweat the entire day. Neither one of us had fun. Yard golf was way better. And I'm just like, I look at Boomer in the car, both just sitting there, depressed, depleted of it all energy. And I'm just like, dude, golf kind of sucks. Like, I'd rather just play yard golf. And he goes, dunt away. You're right unto way golf kind of sucks.
Lunchbox
We'll take a break. We'll be right back.

the fact that you think golf sucks. I'm worried about you. I mean, yes, that's what makes it so hard is the centimeter difference that it makes between a good shot and a bad shot. We all have those days where we. I have these a lot where I hit the fairway off the drive and then I get a triple bogey without even having a penalty because I chilly dip it. I scald it. It goes over the green, back over the green, miss the putt, missed the putt. Oh, I got a triple bogey and I didn't even get a penalty. Hold on. So I'm.
Ray
What the.
Lunchbox
I don't know. I'm trying to drink some water.
Ray
Holy crap, man. I didn't know we were getting this old on the podcast. Yeah, we might as well just smoke.
Lunchbox
But I'm going to tell you what also sucks, man. You talk about golf sucking. I'm going to tell you what we did for this weekend. We went fishing and you would think, oh, that's so fun. It sucked. It really did kind of suck.
Ray
I haven't fished in 20 years. Because fishing sucks.
Lunchbox
Well, I don't mind fishing, like, off the dock at the lake, you know. Oh, this is so fun. The kids can drop it, they can cast it. They're entertained. It's very cool. My son, Baby Box two, got invited to a birthday party on Saturday, and it was, hey, we hired a guy, and he's gonna show us where to fish on the lake to catch some fish. And I said, great.
Ray
Hey, is your story starting right now?
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
Okay. Action. Oh, what the flash.
Lunchbox
So we go to the lake, and this guy picks us up in his boat. He's like, come on board, Bellas. We're gonna go do some fishing. And the boys are like, yeah, we're fishing. We're gonna catch some fish. Let's go. And there's three kids.
Ray
Yes. On the boat. Your kids?
Lunchbox
No, no. We're at a birthday party. So it's my son, birthday boy, and another kid. So three kids. So we drive out there, and we're driving, and we drive for, like, 20 minutes. Like, when are we gonna fish? When are we gonna fish?
Ray
What are you on, a dinghy or a.
Lunchbox
No. Boat. We're on a boat. Like a regular boat.
Ray
Oh, pontoon.
Lunchbox
I don't know the words. And we get to one spot, and he's like, oh, not seeing a lot of fish on my. My. My little machine. Let's go over here. We drive across the lake, and we're like, all right, where are the fishing bulls? He goes, all right, I'll get. I'll get them ready for you. And he gets them, and he does the casting. Then he sticks them in little pole holders.
Ray
Was this paid for? Yeah, Tang, dude.
Lunchbox
And you just sit there and watch the pole.
Ray
Glad I paid for an interactive video game.

And then when you get a bite, you see it moving. He's all right, there's some on there. And you reel it in, and we take the fish off and we take a picture with the fish, throw it back. Then he casts it. He gets it all set up. He puts it in the holder, and you just stand there.
Ray
That ain't like fishing with Grandpa. With that, you get some butt crack.
Lunchbox
At least with Grandpa, you get butt crack. You get worms on your hand.
Ray
Cigarette burn.
Lunchbox
You get cigarette burns. You get catfish to the head, this
Ray
hook to the mouth.
Lunchbox
The hook to the mouth. The hook in the dog.
Ray
Dad waking up at 11am saying that he wasn't even involved with the fishing.
Lunchbox
Correct. You know, so I am just. I was.
Ray
Pickle jar to the foot.
Lunchbox
Pickle jar to the Foot. Um, yeah, it was a lot worm.
Ray
Dad, I need a full worm.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I need a full worm. They. They won't. They took a bite of my worm. So this worms no good anymore? No, no, it still works. No, no, I need a whole worm. Okay, well, we're going to go through 600 worms. This. We literally did nothing. We absolutely did nothing. And it was a great concept, and it was cool because we did catch fish. Like, we did catch fish. But the kids, what they want to do is they want to cast it, man. They there just to sit there and watch a pole. So the kids. I felt I got bored pretty quick
Ray
because the tour guide was fishing for you.
Lunchbox
That's basically what happens. You go out with a tour guide and they do all the work, and all you do is reel it in.
Ray
I mean, so what are the kids doing? Just playing on their iPads?
Lunchbox
No, they're just sitting there like, oh. And they're trying to grab the pole, and it's like, whoa, whoa. Don't touch the pole. Easy on the pole. Don't touch the pole.
Ray
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Lunchbox
Leave the pole alone. It's got to be in the holder. It's got to be in the holder. And so they just literally sit there with their thumbs up their butts waiting to catch a fish.
Ray
Do you think that this tour guide had kids?
Lunchbox
No.
Ray
Okay, so no bedside manner.
Lunchbox
No, he was a nice guy. It was great.
Ray
He's like, hey, come here, you little.
Lunchbox
And so after being out on the water, you know, it was really hot on Saturday, so being on the water for about an hour, hour and a half, the kids were like, can we just jump in?
Ray
No, no, no. No way. The tour guide allowed that?
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah. He was like, no problem. He just. He reeled in the. The lines, and they just jumped in and swam. And that was fishing on the lake.
Ray
So you basically paid a tour guide to take you out so your kids could jump in the water? They could just jump in the water from the shore.
Lunchbox
Yeah. And I think you filmed this wrong. Not vertical.
Ray
What are you talking about?
Lunchbox
That's hamburger.
Ray
This is how you're supposed to do it for YouTube.
Lunchbox
Oh, go on YouTube. You're not talking Instagram, bro.
Ray
I just filmed an entire thing in Vegas. Don't tell me that I filmed the wrong direction.
Lunchbox
I apologize. I didn't know you were going to YouTube there.
Ray
Every damn time in Vegas, I'm like, hot dog.
Bretzky
Oh, great.
Ray
Where's the hamburger? Here we go. Let me hold it sideways by myself. Here in Fremont, where some Bums about to stick something up my butthole.
Lunchbox
Yeah. And so it was just an interesting concept. Like, I love the idea. Like, my kid had fun, but it was interesting. We only had two poles for three kids. So then they're fighting over whose poll is what. Well, there's only two guys, so you got to share them. So what we do is, like, you get the pole when there was a fish on there, and they do five reels handed to the next kid. Five reels. Next kid, five reels.
Ray
Todd, if you paid over a hundred dollars, waste of money. Should have gone to the convention.
Lunchbox
I didn't pay anything. It was not my son's birthday. It was another kid's birthday. And the other kid does love to fish. So the dad was like, oh, my gosh, this will be great. And I think it was still great. I'm not trying to crap on it. I'm just saying I thought the guide would let the kids be a little more involved in the fishing. It was just strange.
Ray
Like, what did you want the kids to do, man?
Lunchbox
Cast the thing, put the boat back
Ray
on the trailer, and then.
Lunchbox
And then baby box two is like, dad, where's my bobber? I don't see my bobber. I'm like, we're not doing bobber, man. We're, you know, we're just trolling.
Ray
We just didn't select that on the. A la carte.
Lunchbox
Well, I didn't select anything. I didn't know how it was going to go. And so there.
Ray
I didn't select catch a stick. On this brochure that you had. My kid just caught a stick.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Then they had live bait. Like little fishes in the little bucket on the boat. The kids, once they found those, they were obsessed. Ooh, ooh, can we. Can we fish with that? Can we fish with the live bait? We fish with a live bait.
Ray
No way. The tour guide like that, he's like,
Lunchbox
yeah, but don't stick your hand in there if you have sunscreen. It'll kill him. Okay, okay. We'd be fishing a little bit. Can we fish with a live bait? Can we fish with live bait? They might have said, can we fish with a live bait? 162 times while we're out there.
Ray
Now listen here, you little. Interesting number. The MLB baseball schedule. Whoa, whoa.
Lunchbox
That's crazy. I didn't even do that on purpose.
Ray
It's like, I don't know, a number 82 NBA basketball schedule.
Lunchbox
Hey, I don't know, maybe like 17 NFL games.
Ray
I thought you're being Scooby for a second. Freaking everything's a number. Number 12. Byron Scott, Orlando Magic.
Lunchbox
No, that's chess day. And my sister's Jersey number is 12.
Ray
Scuba stop, dude. Number two. Dr. J. The founder of basketball.
Lunchbox
Me, Scuba Stop. My. My soccer Jersey was number two.
Ray
Number 33 or 32. Shaquille O' Neal's number. Okay. At least he's semi famous, bro. He was naming guys on the bench for the Magic and selecting their roulette numbers. I'm like, scuba stop with the numbers, bro. Even Daryl Armstrong, number 12. Scoop it.
Apollo Sponsor
What? The.
Ray
Dude put up two points.
Lunchbox
Hey, Brian Shaw.
Ray
That's who he said, dude. You know the crap he was talking about?
Lunchbox
Oh, my God. And he. But the tour guide or whatever he was, I guess, fishing guide. I don't know what you call him. He said they get a lot of bachelorette parties.
Ray
I bet he loves those a lot more.
Lunchbox
He goes, oh, my gosh. He goes, there's not much fishing on those.
Ray
What's he doing?
Lunchbox
He said they. A lot more interactive. He. He said, it's not more. It's not really about catching fish. It's more about just being on the lake. But they sign up thinking they want to fish. And then he goes, about 20 minutes in, they're just like, you can just drive us around. And he goes, it's the easiest money I ever make is the bachelorette parties.
Ray
He's like, 20 minutes in, no more fishing. 25 minutes in, they're all topless. Like, I love my job. Hey, when is this one over?
Lunchbox
He was like. He goes, what's crazy is I don't have to put a fish on my hook. And it just goes right in.
Ray
Dude, how old was the art age?
Lunchbox
Yeah, he's probably about 30.
Ray
I bet he kills it out there. He's got his shirt off. He's got a fish hook on his arm, bicep.
Lunchbox
He goes, it's just. They just, oh, can we drive the boat? He goes, bachelorette parties, they act like they want to fish. He goes, I'm telling you, they're just there to get. They're just there to drink.
Ray
That's wild. They sign up for that. I guess maybe to mix it up.
Lunchbox
He said, the number one thing they say is, oh, we just wanted to do something different. Like, you know, most bachelorette parties are just going straight Broadway. We wanted to do something different.
Ray
But then they hit Broadway, and then
Lunchbox
they hit Broadway, and they just swim in the lake and they drink and they. That's it. There's no real fishing. Every Once in a while he goes, there's some girls that are really serious about fishing when they come on the bachelorette parties. But for the most part, they're just here for their boat ride.
Ray
Did you ask him how many times he's hooked up on that dinghy?
Lunchbox
No, I didn't. I should ask that. We'll take a break and then we're going to find out all about Circa and Circa prices right after this. Dude, back to Vegas.
Ray
I mean, yeah, the stories always leak out. It's a slow drip when it comes to Vegas. There's so much stuff that goes on there that just doesn't go on anywhere else in the world. But I went to Circa and I was curious, what does this stuff cost?
Lunchbox
Was it beautiful?
Ray
Yeah, son, I'm not. I'm not nitpicking. The sun has definitely hit it. So, like, stuff that was supposed to be bright blue is now light blue.
Lunchbox
Okay.
Ray
So it just definitely looks like, boom. The sun hits that thing every day.
Lunchbox
Sportsbook inside the stadium seating. Pretty cool.
Ray
There isn't stadium seating. The stadium seating. There's a stadium inside in the casino.
Lunchbox
That's what I said.
Apollo Sponsor
Oh.
Lunchbox
I said inside stadium seating in the sports book. It's kind of like, I saw it.
Ray
I didn't go into it. I don't go in sports books anymore.
Lunchbox
Okay.
Ray
But I went to Stadium Swim. A sports book outside the pools.
Lunchbox
Yes.
Ray
And so you can sit, you go in. If you stay there, it's free.
Lunchbox
Really?
Ray
Yeah. I went the night before and the next day, both times, tried to pay. They're like, no, you just take a risk, man. You stay here. Right. It's free. Oh, so lawn chairs are all free if you want a bed. You know, one of those day beds. Yeah, 500. Which is a tad more pricey than Jamaica.
Lunchbox
Oh, man.
Ray
Jamaica might have been$75.5 hundo. And that's just. That's. But that's food and drink, so that's the minimum.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Ray
Yeah. So you're not paying really, to rent it. You're paying for your food and drink, but you have to spend 500.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Okay. This is what every sportsbook's doing now, man. It's making it impossible for the average man to go watch a game in Vegas.
Ray
And then they have the cabanas, which just think of it as if your buddy's got a pool out back and he's got a pool house.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
So they're mini ones, though. Oh, you know, they're not.
Lunchbox
Yeah, they're not huge.
Ray
You can fit five buddies in it.
Lunchbox
Gotcha.
Ray
Those 1500.
Lunchbox
Oh. Oh, God.
Ray
And those were prices during the open.
Lunchbox
I can't imagine football Sunday.
Ray
He said for the. For the US or the. What's the soccer thing called?
Lunchbox
World Cup.
Ray
Yeah, Forgot already. Man. It was massive. In my life this past couple months. World cup and for footballs type stuff, the day beds are a thousand.
Lunchbox
Oh, man. Oh, man.
Ray
And the cabanas are 2500. Yeah, but I'm like 25. There's no way Five Buddies can spend 2500 on food and booze.
Lunchbox
I don't know how you would do it this.
Ray
So they must just say, oh, that's it. We tap out and they just charge them 2500.
Lunchbox
Unless they get there at 7am and they leave at 8pm you eat every meal. Eat every meal, drink every drink. I mean, there is no way you could leave that bed. That'd be a lot.
Ray
8am to 10pm that's probably it. Those are their hours. I went there the night before the 10:00pm crowd.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
They closed the pool 30 minutes before. So maybe it's open till 10:30. Pools closed at 10. I mean, they're pulling bodies out of that thing. You got girls throwing towels on, and I don't think they had tops on. I'm up there totally sober after my flight.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
And it's the people that just got faced.
Lunchbox
Your suitcase with you?
Ray
No, I dropped off the room.
Lunchbox
I'm just making. Hey, I'm trying to set the. If you're walking around the pool deck with your suitcase, you look like an idiot.
Ray
And I'm like, oh, that's cool. That guy's mopping up water, making sure it's not slippery. No, that was vomit.
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah, that's gross.
Ray
And then they got all their slushy machines. Any type of. Like, probably your pina colada, but that's tropical. But pina colada red drink. They have four or five slushy machines.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Ray
So they want to keep you hydrated as well as cooled down.
Lunchbox
That sounds cool.
Ray
But you can tell it gets hot because all the workers have more to the workers in a second. But they have buckets filled with water and then a fan on top of them.
Lunchbox
Ah. That was one of the gifts at the birthday party. Like, there was a gift bag, and right when we got there for the kids, it was full of candy. Had their own Gatorade, like squeeze water bottle with their name on it and a fan that you put around your neck and it blows on you. Probably the worst gift ever. Because now my 6 year old is obsessed. Oh, wait, wait. Before we go to the store, I got to go run back in and get my fan.
Ray
It is summer Nashville.
Lunchbox
No, I understand, but it's just hilarious. I'm like, dude, you don't need a fan. We're going to the grocery store. Like, we're just going to go in and get some cereal and eggs and we'll be out.
Ray
Never knowing the meat aisle gets hot.
Lunchbox
He's like, I got to get my fan. Okay, so he's got to unbuckle, go back in the house, run back up to his room, get the fan, come back out. All right, all right, we're ready. Dad, it's not working. I got to go get my charger. No, no, we don't need the charger. We don't need to charge it right now. We're just going to the store. We'll be back in 10 minutes. So he now thinks we have to take the fan everywhere. I digress.
Ray
The staff. Yeah, the staff. So the staff is definitely required to wear whale tails.
Lunchbox
Oh, boy. This is not bad.
Ray
And I would have to say I. I wasn't necessarily, like, looking at the staff, but I mean, they're just flying by me. This is the next day, the night before everybody was closed up. It's really just the crew cleaning all the fluids off.
Lunchbox
Totally understand what you're saying.
Ray
So the next day, I'm chilling and I mean, guys, I had the open on. I had no money on it. Just it was semi interesting enough. It was fine to look at baseball didn't start for two hours, but it was just whale tail. Will tell. Will tell some of the whale tails. Maybe they could have done a little P90X beforehand. Oh, but I will say an interesting job requirement. Do they tell them that, hey, if you're going to be staffed here, you got to be comfortable with a whale tail.
Lunchbox
Have to.
Ray
Because none of them had coverage.
Lunchbox
Wow. Did all of them have mountain ranges? Did you see mountain ranges or. I mean, I know you were looking at the open, but did anything, you know, I mean, was it. Were they nice and tan? They gotta be tan.
Ray
They were definitely tan. I know you guys don't want truckers, don't want an update on the dudes. I was jealous. Did that horn. It did horn. I was jealous of the dudes. They all had the best tan because they'd been out in the sun every day for the entire summer.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Ray
The dudes are tan. Whale tails are rocking and rolling. Couple of them should have swung by the hotel gym beforehand. All good. No worries. The. I would say the ones that are more attractive.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
Had an attitude. Oh, oh, yeah. Because there's frat boys rolling in five deep. They got to spend 1500 and they're giving a little attitude. She's giving it back. She's like, well, I don't know. If you guys don't want it, you don't have to have it. That's how we're starting the day.
Lunchbox
Yeah. And. And I bet you those frat dudes, I mean, every day. Here's the thing. Every day in that job, you know, you're getting hit on drunk. As the day goes on, everybody at the pool, mister, you know, they're all starting to drink.
Bretzky
Ah.
Lunchbox
You know, met her down at Aldean Aldean's. And then they're like, you know what? She's flirting with me. Every. There's one guy in every group that thinks the waitress is flirting with her and hits on her and hits on her and hits on her. So she probably gets annoyed then.
Ray
So she definitely was. And it was. I went there, you know, I woke, walked in at like 8am so it was the early crowd.
Lunchbox
You were the early crowd. Not like on your bachelor party when you said we were gonna be at the pool at 8 so we could get chairs. And so my dumb idiot self rolled out of bed at 7:50, went and got in line, a mile long line to get in the pool. And Ray had to walk over to MGM grand. Cause he wasn't even staying there on his own. Bachelor party where everybody else was staying. And I got like six chairs, laid towels on them, spread my body across six chairs, just keeping them company. And not a dang person from the bachelor party was there when they said they were going to be there. They all showed up at like 9:30, 10 o'. Clock. So for like two hours I'm fighting these people off. Go ahead.
Ray
Never knew that story. Crazy, the stuff that comes out. When you have a podcast, the Whale Tale, I will share one story. She goes, so the guys were fighting with her a little bit. And they go, what, bro? Fifteen hundred dollars. We're just doing drinking. Like there's no. We are out all night. Like we're not hungry at all. Like, my boy's pretty sick. There's no way we're getting food. Do you think we can reach $1500 for drinks? And she's like, well, I mean, a pina colada is 40. And then if you want a bucket of beers, that's a hundred. She goes, it can get There pretty easily, especially if you're staying to the afternoon. So they're talking like this at 8am to each other.
Lunchbox
Oh, my gosh.
Ray
The frat daddy's fighting back on price. And she goes, she goes. It's a hard line. My. There's no discounts. It's 1500 for a cabana. They'll all fill up. And that's your food. You're not renting the cabana. That's just your food minimum. So can bring you all the drinks. You don't have to drink them. You're probably going to want some food later. And usually it gets pretty close to that amount. The boys, but I mean, a couple of them are still straggling. They're not here yet. We're all pretty hungover. We went to the club last night and my boy got kicked out. He had smelling salts and they thought it was cocaine, obviously. I sat right next to him because I want to hear all the eavesdropping and the whale tail just not having any of it. They ended up renting it though, of course. Hey, is there any stuff we can, like, anywhere we can put our stuff? There's a locker for $25. Or you can just keep it in your cabana. Nobody goes in there. We usually. We have security and we're usually coming by pretty, pretty near each other frequently. Frequently.
Lunchbox
That's a good word.
Ray
Well, I mean, we got. My boys got Rolexes and stuff. Like we need a locker or something. Okay, well, it'll be $25 on top of the hundred and $1,500 I got to pay $25 for a locker. Well, I mean, you can set it just in your cabana and close the blind. But the little shade thing, people don't go in your cabanas. I'll be in your cabana bringing you drinks. But guests aren't allowed to just come in your cabana, so it should be safe in there. All right. Well, I mean, my boy's got an AP audio pocket and I got a Rolex, so we're probably going to have to do a locker. These things are like 10,000 to $50,000. So these frat daddies got to get a separate locker for their watches.
Lunchbox
I love. They're complaining about $25 and they're rocking
Ray
Rolex and I am sitting there by myself. Just die glad. I probably thought I was gonna rob him, but I'm just hanging out. Well, tail fighting back with some attitude. But the, the whalers, they all are wearing green.
Lunchbox
Okay.
Ray
Just must have been maybe World cup colors. Yeah, but whales, grass, if you. I don't know. The beds. But if you buy the cabana, you got whalers bring your drinks, you're not getting them.
Lunchbox
Wow.
Ray
Otherwise, you have to walk all the way to the front of Stadium swim to get your drinks. So you're really paying for the 15 on I'm. Guys, this isn't a promotion. This is not an ad. But you're paying for the whaler to bring you every drink. Bloody Mary, starting with to the mixers, to the slushies, to the beers, instead of having to walk to the front. But there you go. There's your update on stadium Swim, guys.
Lunchbox
Man, sounds like a great time in Vegas.
Ray
I wish I had another boy there at least to laugh at this stuff with, because, I mean, I'm. It's just. I'm experiencing this stuff all solo mission. I'm like. I was about to be like, hey, bros, I mean, you want to add me? We can split the bill a little bit more.
Lunchbox
Oh, and then they could have come and support you at the Papa Shot.
Ray
And then I'd have a whaler for service and said every time I wanted a water, I had to walk all the way to the stadium swim. And they had. The water cups were distinct green water cups.
Lunchbox
Oh, embarrassing.
Ray
Anytime you were carrying it, it didn't look like a mixed drink. It didn't look like a Tito's. It was obvious to the entire crowd at Stadium Swim, and I was only drinking waters, going and sitting by myself in the pool about five feet away from the cabana because I was not able to afford the cabana life.
Lunchbox
How was the water? Was it warm, Cool? Nice.
Ray
Water was cold.
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah.
Ray
And that sun. I. I was an hour in it, and I was like, I am baking. Had to shift a little bit to the shade. Yeah. I went so early, dude, so there's still shade.
Lunchbox
Good. Good. All right. You guys have a good Wednesday. We're. Man, that's. That's interesting. And we got an email that says, hey, do y' all still sell the Coach T shirts? Thanks, Brian. Yeah, Brian, we still got them, man. They're 15 bucks a piece. You just let me know what size you need. We are the sore losers. Gmail dot com. And we'll get that mailed out right away to you. We'll get it mailed out, man. Just let me know what you need.
Ray
They do make the pools there.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
So they're. How do I say this? They're like, perfect level. They're not, like, too deep, not too Shallow?
Lunchbox
Yeah. Because they want people just standing in it. Not a lot of people are swimming. It's more just standing.
Ray
Correct. There was a nerd swimming at Stadium Swim. He got the wrong memo.
Lunchbox
The.
Ray
They make the pools. How do I say this properly? They make them the right height. So couples can easily kiss.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Ray
Because as I was walking around by myself, I was like, that couple's making out. Oh, that couple is groping each other. Well, that couple has their tongues down each other's throats. That couple may be banging, man.
Lunchbox
And there you are with your green cup by yourself. And they're like, there's that loser with his green cup.
Ray
You are watching the Open, and then I'm watching Rory McElroy up there on the screen. Baseball didn't start for a while. They had tennis on and the golf. That's why the stuff was as cheap as it was.
Lunchbox
I understand. Yeah. There's nothing. It was a. Kind of a dead period. Yeah.
Ray
Homie told me. Oh, if it's high demand, he goes, definitely goes up a thousand. I'm like, good. Like, what's even more high demand than football? I guess Super Bowl.
Lunchbox
Oh, Super Bowl. There's no cause it's too cold.
Ray
Those people.
Lunchbox
Stadium Swim is not open during the Super Bowl. No chance.
Ray
I guess if it's a massive Sunday Night Football or Sunday football game. I mean, you could be 3,500 for a cabana.
Lunchbox
My name is Ben and I'm not in it.
Ray
My name's Paul. It's up to y'. All.
Lunchbox
My name is.
Ray
My name's. Stadium Swim. It's up to Tim.
Lunchbox
My name is.
Ray
Gosh.
Lunchbox
Trying to think it. I was trying to rhyme with. Gotta go. My name's.
Ray
I'm gonna. I'm a Nashville laddie. That's up to frat daddy. I'm not doing that.

Podcast: The Bobby Bones Show (Sore Losers spin-off)
Episode Date: July 27, 2026
Hosts: Lunchbox & Ray
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
This episode of the Sore Losers podcast (a spin-off of The Bobby Bones Show) dives into the recurring theme of rejection—specifically, Lunchbox’s ongoing losing streak in the Masters tournament ticket lottery—before spiraling, as always, into side-splitting rants and stories about golf misery, a lackluster fishing birthday party, and the costly madness of Las Vegas’s Circa Stadium Swim. Ray and Lunchbox swap tales of summer debacles, hilarious complaints about modern leisure, and their ever-relatable struggles with the simple things in life.
Lunchbox recounts disappointment after being denied Masters tickets yet again:
Ray adds perspective: “Those are your odds. So to say 10 million people apply, they select 100,000. You have a 1% chance.” [(09:39)]
Lunchbox encourages others: “If you applied and you got rejected, don’t feel bad. I got rejected, too.” [(10:34)]
| Timestamp | Topic / Segment | |-------------|----------------------------------------------| | 03:23-10:30 | Masters ticket rejection & system odds | | 10:52-22:18 | Ray & Boomer’s disastrous golf outing | | 25:16-35:04 | Fishing party fiasco & modern guided fishing | | 35:19-46:49 | Las Vegas Circa Stadium Swim: Price & spectacle | | 39:07-39:44 | Kid’s obsession with portable fan (birthday gift) | | 47:18 | Listener Brian asks about “Coach” t-shirts | | 48:00-48:24 | Ray’s observations on pool “etiquette” | | 43:16 | Lunchbox’s solo pool chair defense |
The episode is fast, loose, and loaded with the classic Sore Losers banter: self-deprecating, occasionally crude, and always relatable. Lunchbox’s deadpan resentment and Ray’s detailed rants combine for a running commentary on why even the most anticipated activities (from the Masters to Vegas pool parties) can end up being comically disappointing.
If you’ve ever lost out on bucket-list tickets, suffered through a golf round in triple-digit heat, or wondered how much a Vegas pool cabana really costs, this episode has you covered—plus plenty of humor along the way. The Sore Losers prove once again that sometimes the best stories come from the worst days out.
