Eddie
It feels good to get good news.
Amy

Lunchbox
It's time for the good news.
Charlamagne tha God
Tell me something good.
Amy
All right. Tell me something good, Amy.
Morgan
My tire was fixed yesterday, so I.
Amy
Do you have a nail in it? The one.
Morgan
Well, I don't really know what punctured it. I was driving down the highway when we were on our way to church, and somebody's hubcap in front of me just flew off. And then I had no choice. I was very proud of myself for staying calm.
Amy
I remember this part.
Morgan
Yeah. Yeah. So I had no choice but just run over it, and then my.
Amy
Did it mess up your wheel? Yeah, that's your whole wheel, not your tire?
Morgan
I don't think so. Just the tire.
Unknown Male Speaker
Okay.
Morgan
It was just after church. My tire pressure was dropping significantly. And then I found whatever had inserted itself into the tire was not a nail, but some object. And so air was leaking out. And then yesterday, I had the tired people come to my house because I had to get a ride to work and everything, so I was too scared to drive back on the highway. Even though it was a slow leak, I still looked like it had air, but it was significantly dropping, and I didn't.
Amy
You know, I don't trust those tires that go like, hey, we're flat. You can keep driving on us. I had those on a car once. They're like, if you get a flat, you can drive in another four, 40 miles. What? Yeah, I think they're. They have a name. I think they're called, like, not. No. Run Flats.
Unknown Male Speaker
Yeah, like, there's something in it that makes it not.
Amy
Yeah, I don't believe it.
Unknown Male Speaker
The air come out or whatever.
Amy
Yeah, I'm a pass on that. I'm just gonna pull over. I've had too many wheels get messed up. That's good. What'd it cost you?
Morgan
Well, I don't know. I don't have the bill yet, so the thing is, too. So I used to do endorsements with them. It's Moody Tire. I worked with them for a long time, even when I did my podcast down at Franklin Theater. Like, we gave away tires and did this whole thing. I'm sure that he'll email me a bill, but he also said while his guy was out there, he's like, I think you need.
Amy
Oh, they're gonna get you. Hey, let me guess. Your oil filter is dirty, your windshield wipers need change.
Morgan
They're like.
Podcast Announcer
They're awesome.
Unknown Male Speaker
Transmission fluid.
Amy
Been there every oil change I've ever been to. That's the crap that happens.
Morgan
No, but that's why I call him, because I trust them. And they're like a family business that have been around forever. And so I like working with them because I had taken my car to the dealership not that long ago, and they had mentioned that I need new tires now. Them I didn't trust. So I've just been driving around like, ah, they're full of it, you know. But then he texts me and he was like, hey, my guy just said, you know, he goes, can you send me better pictures? Because he told me what he saw in your tires, and I just want to see for myself. And he's one of the owners. So then I sent him pictures and he's like, it's probably going to be time for some new tires. And I was like, dang. My dealership had said that a few months ago, and I didn't believe him. And so I got my tire fixed, which is. Tell me something good, but tell me something. Meh. Is that. Now I need four new tires. And then he said, let me quote some out for you. And then he texted me, are you sitting down?
Amy
Oh, that's bracket problems. That's bracket problems. These tires are expensive. I know.
Morgan
That's just like. It's one of those adult items that, like, you know, when you're an adult.
Amy
Well, it's not like you have a tire budget for March, right? Tires happen. And you're like, well, crap. That's always what tire or refrigerator or
Unknown Male Speaker
dishwasher, air conditioner or things that are
Amy
nice when you need a generator. Don't even get me started on the freaking generator. Way to buy.
Morgan
Well, that's a. Generators are a bonus. That's not it. That's not a refrigerator.
Amy
It ends in raider.
Unknown Male Speaker
Sure does.
Amy
Got you there, didn't I?
Morgan
Sure did. So I'm very happy that again, it could have been worse.
Amy
Yeah. So I had to get two back tires. Remember? I got something on my. I got a nail on my tire.
Morgan
Or whenever somebody said you were being scammed. That's. That's what made me think my dealers.
Amy
I don't even think our cars need tires. I think the tire business is just scammed by big rubber. There's big pharma, there's big rubber. I don't think we need tires. Yeah, I'm glad that happened.
Morgan
I'm. I just ordered four new tires, so I hope Bay rubber just got some money.
Unknown Male Speaker
Hey, and the fact that they haven't sent her a bill yet? Like, that's. No, no, it just came, I think.
Amy
Hey, change your name. Change your name. They'll never find.
Eddie
Yeah, I changed my email.
Morgan
No, I will happily pay. I am a satisfied customer. I'm just saying he'll likely send it to me and maybe he'll tie it into one. He'll be like, this is for the patch tire that we were replacing anyway for the brand new tire.
Amy
And that turned into a tell me something suck. I'll be honest with you.
Eddie
Yeah, no, it's still.
Morgan
It's still a tell me something good. They came out. They fixed my tire. I drove my car to work today again, Sunday. I could have died.
Amy
Okay, you could have.
Morgan
So it's. Tell me something good. When something's flying at you at high speed on the highway.
Amy
It was a hubcap. For the record, it wasn't. It wasn't an 18 wheeler tire.
Morgan
Okay, but still a hubcap could have flown through my windshield and.
Unknown Male Speaker
But it didn't.
Amy
And cut her throat off. For those that didn't see. And we just did a to her throat.
Morgan
Okay, well, y' all are saying this is not a tell me something.
Amy
No. Well, you're the one that. You were like, well, I had a nail on a tire. Now I have to get four new tires and got to buy a new house. So you kind of hit us with that.
Morgan
Well, I. Sometimes we do. Tell me something. Meh.
Amy
Yeah. Well, I'm glad you drove to work today.
Morgan
Thank you.
Amy
Tell me something good, Eddie.
Unknown Male Speaker
Okay. I mean, mine's kind of dumb, but. So I hadn't worn these shorts in a while, and the weather's been great lately, so I got my shorts on and I was going to a basketball game, my kids basketball game, and I reach in the pocket. You know how when you tell a bad story and you're like, I found five bucks. I really found ten bucks in my pocket. And it's like, man, whenever you find money in your pocket that you did not expect, it's kind of cool.
Amy
Save that for the tire fund. Those things creep up on you sometimes, man. Yeah, that's fun.
Unknown Male Speaker
So that was kind of cool.
Amy
I'll do some of mine. I made a list of a few things. The Boys is back on Amazon Prime. I love that show. I think it's season five. Yeah. Final season. Final season.
Unknown Male Speaker
Superheroes.
Amy
I hate when you say it like that. You talk down to it. You talk down to it. You talk down to it.
Morgan
It's not that good.
Amy
It's awesome. It's one of my favorite shows for
Morgan
you, it's, like, good. But my opinion is it's not bad.
Amy
But you didn't say that. You just said it's not that good.
Eddie
Yeah.
Morgan
Okay. In my opinion, it's not that good.
Eddie
Amy, is it superheroes to you?
Amy
Yeah, it's an awesome show. It's basically, if superheroes existed in real life, how what the world would be like. And some are good, some are bad. I love it. And episode one was good. Yeah, they're both good. I haven't. I didn't start two yet. Episode two. But there are two. Two episodes. Morgan, you watch it? No.
Kara
That's the one that you tried to get me on, and it was so gory.
Morgan
The first one was horrible.
Unknown Male Speaker
I remember that one.
Amy
There's a dude. They all have weird superpowers. I hate to tell you guys this one because you're gonna laugh at me. Oh, boy. But in this first episode, there's a guy. They all have weird superpowers. Some of them run fast and fly, but some of them, their superpowers are just weird. And there's one guy, he, like, works in a prison and beats people up, but his weapon is his wiener.
Unknown Male Speaker
What?
Morgan
Oh, my God.
Amy
I know. It's crazy.
Eddie
What?
Amy
I know.
Eddie
Superpower.
Amy
It's very. It's. It's crazy. It's quite a superpower. Yeah. Wow. So the boys are back. I love that show.
Morgan
Are you joking?
Home Depot Announcer
No.
Amy
It's so funny, though, because it's. It.
Morgan
I can't tell. I can't tell.
Unknown Male Speaker
You love the show, right?
Amy
It's one of my favorite shows.
Morgan
But that's really his superpower. I can't. I honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic.
Amy
No, no. That's a superpower.
Morgan
Okay.
Amy
That's his weapon.
Unknown Male Speaker
Why would he make that up?
Eddie
To make us think. Wow, that's really crazy. Did I pull up a picture?
Amy
Yeah. Other things. These are the shoes Amy got me for my birthday. They're pretty awesome. Been wearing them for the last couple days. You know, getting new shoes out. It's a whole process because you gotta take the padding out. You know, I don't ever untie. I don't tie my shoes, so I'll leave them. But these are a plus. I wanted to show those off.
Unknown Male Speaker
Those are cool.
Amy
What color are these?
Morgan
Brown.
Amy
They are brown. Yeah.
Morgan
They're in. And to be honest, I ordered them online and they looked less brown than that.
Amy
No, I like them.
Morgan
Well, I've been wearing them.
Amy
I give them an A plus. That's That's a good.
Listener/Guest
Thank you.
Kara
That's a good.
Morgan
That is telling me something good. Because when I opened up the box, I was like, oh, gosh, these are brown. But it was a day before your birthday, so it's too late. So I was like, well, he's getting brown. Brown shoes.
Amy
Another one is. I'm extremely colorblind, but the color that I really like is red. And so I'm a big Arkansas Razorbacks fan, obviously. And they're red. That happens to work. I'm a massive Cubs fan as well. But they're blue. But the Cubs make red hats. Now. Look at my red Cubs hat. Tell me that's not cool.
Morgan
It's cool.
Amy
Way cooler for me than you, obviously, but I found these.
Unknown Male Speaker
It's different.
Amy
No, but it's still these complete red Cubs hats like that.
Unknown Male Speaker
I've never seen a Cubs hat in red like that. Very different.
Amy
Thank you very much. That's all I was looking for.
Geico Gecko
And now for a bit of breaking news. Between your breaking news with me, the Geico gecko, here are some things you ought to know today. There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl.
Amy
You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes.
Anna Sinfield
And rule two, never mess with her friends either.
Ashanti Plummer
We always say that. Trust your girlfriends.
Anna Sinfield
I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends.
Morgan
Oh, my God. This is the same name.
Anna Sinfield
A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist.
Amy
I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought how could this happen to me?
Anna Sinfield
The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands.
Amy
I said, oh, hell no. I vowed I will be his last target.
Morgan
He's gonna get what he deserves.
Anna Sinfield
Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Unknown Female Speaker
I feel like it was a little bit unbelievable until I really started making money.
Podcast Announcer
It's Financial Literacy Month, and the podcast Eating While Broke is bringing real conversations about money, growth, and building your future. This month hear from top streamer Zoe Spencer and venture capitalist lakeisha Landrum Pierre as they share their journeys from starting out to leveling up.
Unknown Female Speaker
If I'm outside with my parents and they see all these people come up to me for pictures, it's like, what today? Now, Obviously, it's like 100%. They believe everything, but at first it was just like, you gotta go get a real job.
Listener/Guest
There's an economic component to community striving. If there's not enough money and entrepreneurship happening in communities, they fail. And what I mean by fail is they don't have money to pay for food. They cannot feed their kids. They do not have homes. Communities don't work unless there's money flowing through them.
Podcast Announcer
Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Amy
Yesterday on our sports show 25 whistles, we had, like, a grill off or smoke off, smoker off Eddie and Kickoff Kevin. They were arguing about who could smoke brisket the best. So I gave them both $75, and they went home over the weekend, and they both came in and they presented their food, but I didn't know whose was who. And so I basically. I guess I paid for it, but I got. I was gonna say I got a free lunch, right? No, you paid for it, but I paid for it. But it was a really great segment yesterday.
Morgan
So who won?
Unknown Male Speaker
You have to go. Go and listen. Because I was thinking, like, that'd be a cool story to tell, but people should go listen to that.
Amy
You can listen anyway, but who cares? Eddie won, I won. But it was two to. It was two to one. And it was very close.
Unknown Male Speaker
I was shocked at how close it was.
Amy
Amy. Yeah, that was a good second. So I gotta add, like, four things there that I made. And then I mentioned earlier, went to the pediatrician yesterday, and all things checked out with the baby. So she is good. That's probably the best because you never know what's going in they do say between, like, four and six weeks. Like, when that's, like, a big growth spurt, that they're just not gonna be comfortable. But I wish I there wasn't a shame on, like, adults for pooping. Like, there's no shame on babies for pooping. Baby poops are, like, so talking about, yeah, I never come out of the bathroom while it's like, that's what I'm talking about.
Morgan
Good job.
Unknown Male Speaker
No.
Amy
You know what I mean?
Unknown Male Speaker
Usually, why are you in there so long?
Amy
Yeah. It's like, hey, man. Or I come out, like, dragging my leg because it's asleep. She's like, why? If don't drag, you know, you're good. Like, come out earlier. So all good with the baby? That would be my list there, Morgan.
Kara
So you know how I was telling you guys about, like, just our impact and talking about the good news of talking about different things on the show and how it impacts other people? Right. The other week, we were talking about this.
Amy
Give me an example.
Kara
There's bad news all over on social media. You see the bad comments.
Amy
We do. A lot of good news. Yes.
Kara
So I was telling you guys that people had reached out to me about Vertigo, about my dog, and how it impacted them. Well, a listener reached out, and because I was talking about Remy getting diagnosed with Addison's disease, she. She saw her dog exhibit all of the same symptoms and took her dog when he was in a crisis, and it saved his life. So her dog is on the mend now, finally healing. And it's all because we were, like, talking about it, and she heard it and ended up taking her dog in because of it.
Amy
That's great.
Kara
Otherwise, she would have never known. Like, Addison's disease is just so rare. It's not something that's really talked about, especially with animals. So us talking about it is a big impact. And she was like. She sent me a really sweet message and was like, you most likely saved my puppy's life, and I have to thank you for that. So it was, like, super. I got really emotional when it came through, because it was. It mattered.
Eddie
So you're a hero.
Morgan
Kind of felt like it.
Kara
Yeah. Not like saving lives. A doggy's life.
Amy
A real hero says, I'm not a hero. The number one rule of being a hero is you can't claim you're a hero.
Kara
But I feel like a hero right now, you know?
Morgan
Wait, okay. So humans can get. So this is a human disease that dogs also get? Yeah.
Kara
Yeah.
Amy
It's both.
Kara
It's an autoimmune disorder.
Morgan
Okay, so.
Kara
But it's. It's not really talked about.
Morgan
You just don't hear about it. Extreme fatigue is a symptom.
Unknown Male Speaker
Guys, again, this.
Amy
You have Addison and low testosterone.
Unknown Male Speaker
We don't know that yet.
Amy
We're just piling it all on.
Unknown Male Speaker
Dude, this morning was rough. Sat at the edge of the bed. I'm like, I'm not going to make it.
Amy
Okay.
Unknown Male Speaker
I do have to.
Eddie
What do you mean you're not going to make it? You are so full of crap.
Unknown Male Speaker
It's like you wake up and you're so tired, and you're just sitting there. You're like, I don't have the strength to get out of bed. Am I going to make it through the day? Then you just make it to the. The shower. It's one step at a time. By the time I get out of the shower, I'm like, all right, I feel better. But, man, getting out of bed's tough.
Amy
Isn't that called being sleepy?
Eddie
No, but it's every day.
Unknown Male Speaker
I don't know. I don't know what it is.
Amy
You are gonna get checked. If you guys missed it, Lunchbox and Eddie are both gonna get checked for testosterone. Low testosterone.
Eddie
I'm gonna be checked for high testosterone.
Unknown Male Speaker
Well, you can't even say it.
Amy
No, no.
Eddie
He got so much.
Amy
Much different things.
Morgan
It's a low T off.
Amy
Yes. We're going to have a competition and see who has the lowest or highest testosterone.
Unknown Male Speaker
Yeah.
Amy
Lunchbox.
Eddie
Oh, yeah. I went for a walk yesterday. Walking the dog. Had a couple of the kids with me, and we found two Easter eggs in someone's yard, and they had Kit Kats in them.
Anna Sinfield
Boom.
Amy
Did you eat them?
Eddie
Heck, yeah.
Amy
So good. They're not too hot?
Charlamagne tha God
Yeah.
Unknown Male Speaker
They're in the wrapper a week, right?
Eddie
They're in the wrapper.
Amy
It's not that it hasn't been, like, 80 degrees.
Unknown Male Speaker
It has been hot.
Morgan
You can.
Amy
They're melted. I'm not saying you're going to die of poison.
Morgan
A chocolate can melt and then you eat it.
Eddie
But, yeah, I mean, it wasn't. It wasn't the cleanest, but it was delicious. So two KitKats.
Charlamagne tha God
Boom.
Eddie
Not bad.
Unknown Male Speaker
Just tell me something good. It's pretty good.
Eddie
I mean, that is pretty good.
Amy
You found a few bucks in your
Unknown Male Speaker
pocket, you can buy a Kit Kat.
Morgan
I mean, to find it in an egg in a yard.
Eddie
Yeah. In a random yard. Like, they missed them. But you're an adult, man, you guys
Amy
are really yucking my yums right now.
Eddie
And my kid Was like, can I take it? I was like, yeah, we can take it. Like, why wouldn't you? They obviously didn't see it. They didn't do a good job searching.
Unknown Male Speaker
Yeah.
Amy
There was a story about a kid. I guess he's not a kid. He started when he was a kid. He was a busboy at a Denny's, and he was hired in the late 70s as a kid. He worked there for 48 years. And so they celebrated his 48 years on the job with a birthday fundraiser. And so that's what he wanted to do. ABC15 with the story. They loved the guy. He's been there forever. And then they turned it into a fundraiser for nonprofits who support adults with developmental disabilities where he lives. So I thought that's a pretty good story.
Eddie
Oh, I thought you're gonna say for him. I was like, that's pretty cool. Like, they did a fundraiser for him,
Unknown Male Speaker
but he lives there, right?
Eddie
Yeah, but that's okay now.
Unknown Male Speaker
So it's kind of for him.
Eddie
It is kind of for him.
Amy
You can't take it down a little bit?
Eddie
No, no, no. I was thinking, like, you know how they do these GoFundMes and, like, these people can retire. I was thinking you're gonna say, oh, they raised enough money where he don't have to work anymore.
Amy
I was like, I think he likes to work.
Morgan
Yeah.
Amy
And you kind of made it.
Morgan
Tell me something.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah, I didn't mean to.
Amy
Tell me something. Make it a story. Not as good as it was when we told it.
Eddie
That's on me.
Amy
All right.
Eddie
There you go.
Amy
That's what it's all about.
Lunchbox
That was. Tell me something good. It's time for the good news with Amy.
Morgan
A family owned restaurant in Georgia has been spared from having to close down after the owner's daughter posted a TikTok video just asking people to please come support her family's business because rising costs, rent, utilities, chicken prices. The restaurant is called Wing Suite, and the video went viral. People said they drove, like, more than 40 minutes away from more than 40 minutes minutes away because the video really tugged at their heartstrings and they really wanted to support this. And what the daughter said in the video is like, I just want you to think, like, what if. What if this was your mother's restaurant? Like, what would you do? So this was like her sort of Hail, Hail Mary shot at getting people to come and support the business. And it worked. I mean, people have been showing up. A GoFundMe has been set up, and hopefully it'll Just help them get back on their feet and get some momentum.
Amy
I heard the high chicken prices is kind of why Eddie quit his business.
Unknown Male Speaker
Yeah, man, Chicken, chicken is getting. It's crazy. Yeah, the prices are crazy for chickens.
Amy
Otherwise he'd probably be in. You should do a GoFundMe for that too.
Unknown Male Speaker
Do a viral video.
Amy
That's good. I'm glad everybody stepped forward, stepped up. That's good. That's what it's all about.
Lunchbox
That was. Tell me something good. It's time for the good news with lunchbox.
Charlamagne tha God
Tell me something good.
Eddie
A woman in Vermont. Two year old child driving down the road. She loses control of the car.
Charlamagne tha God
Boom.
Eddie
Crashes into the river. Airbag deploys. And then the car starts floating down the river. She's like, I got to get out of this car. She unbuckles, cuts through the airbag. Able to go in the back seat, unbuckle the child, climb out the window and get to the shore.
Amy
And the car is fully submerged in the river. You just see the top of it floating down like she's standing next to it. And it's like her neck is the only thing that's like above the car. That's crazy. I'm looking at it, where it went off, like the bridge part. You say that.
Eddie
Yeah. She crashed through, boom. Down into the river. And no one helped her. It was just her and her two year old. She did all the work.
Amy
Yeah, no one helped her. But there's no one in this. It's not like people drove by and they were like, look at the lady in the water.
Unknown Male Speaker
Some other day.
Amy
There's no. Yeah, I'm late to work. Yeah. She's in a place where there's not a lot of people. Ah, that's crazy. Good for her. That's all instinct, right?
Eddie
Yeah.
Amy
Jumping in, saving the kid. That's what it's all about.
Lunchbox
That was. Tell me something good.
Eddie
