It's time for the good news. Tell me something good. All right, let's go around the get them in Amy I know it may be hard for you because you haven't had any heat.
A
No, it's not hard for me at all. I got a warm shower last night for the first time, and it felt.
B
So did you take cold showers?
A
How do I describe it?
B
No power. Or did you just not take a shower?
A
Lovely. No, I took quick cold showers and rinsed off. I have showered before, but last night I got a warm shower and a warm bed. Oh, so the whole thing is good.
B
Yeah.
A
And my son has a friend to play with.
B
Like, did you go to your boyfriend's? Is that what you're saying?
A
No, he doesn't have power either, and he's with his family.
C
So where'd you go?
A
To our friend's house.
B
So you found somebody that took you in?
A
Yeah, well, we had offers, like. Well, I think you know this. Like, your. Your wife. Like. Yeah, we've had offers. But the thing is, Stevenson feeling, like, comfortable, and so him having someone to be with is, like, clutch. And they've got Roblox, all that jazz. So that's been. That was really nice. That was last night. It was like, a warm shower, a warm bed. Oh, the cat and dog are welcome. So they're with us. So everything is 10 times, 100 times better than it was yesterday.
B
And we just got a text that said they're probably not gonna get power back till this weekend.
C
Oh, yeah?
B
Yeah.
A
I'd heard a rumor, like, yesterday I got a rumor text. Just now, I got like, a. We just talked to the nes or whatever, and it's looking at it.
B
You can talk to nes, the power.
A
People they call to report outages. I haven't yet. I'm like, shout out to people in my neighborhood that are on it.
B
I reported ours through the website, but it's like, thanks. It doesn't tell you anything.
A
Yeah, I don't know. Oh, I know. If I go back through the text, a woman in my neighborhood, she stopped and asked an NES worker that she saw working on a thing near wherever.
B
I saw a guy standing out with a worker yesterday near our house. And I was like, dang. I bet he's got some inside information.
A
He's asking some questions.
C
We probably shouldn't distract them, though. We should just let him work.
B
Yeah, but I think they send people to just walk at first.
C
Oh, yeah?
B
Yeah. It was one of the ones, like, to survey people.
C
He's got a vest on.
B
Yeah. He wasn't in, like, a bucket or anything up in a tree. And the guy was yelling at him. So you got. You A shower.
A
Yeah. And a warm bed.
B
It's just weird for us that haven't had power. And I look around and some of you that never lost power, don't look at me. We just.
C
It wasn't my choice, man.
A
You don't even know.
B
You don't even know.
C
You're right, I don't.
B
You don't even know.
C
And. But I do feel bad for you guys. I really. I really did. And then, like, it's just. It was crazy just driving around and seeing, like, just complete darkness.
A
Yeah, I know. I'm like, well, if. No, I don't want to say this. I don't want to put that energy out there. But I did have a thought.
B
What?
A
Like looters?
B
Oh, yeah.
C
Oh, man, that'd be crazy because we.
B
Slept in the studio that we built. The Bobby Cast studio. Yeah, that's what. So I was like, man, if people were smart, they would go to where these houses, they know their power out and just go and, like, rob them.
C
But, yeah, this is what I'm trying.
A
To avoid saying in case we're giving anybody any ideas.
B
But also, who knows if power. If they're in there because we've been in there.
C
Yeah, people can be in there with guns.
B
Right. But that's also like, when you're robbing a house, you kind of don't know if they're in there as well.
A
Yeah. I just feel like it's true, Eddie. I was there until last night, and I never had thought of coming in. But when we pulled out, which we decided to make the move, it was after 5 o' clock that I decided to pull the trigger on us not staying there. Because Stevenson's like, mom, I can see my breath.
B
Oh, man.
A
I was like. So I started looking for hotels. I really just didn't want to inconvenience anybody at all. So of course we had had offers, but I just. I don't know. And then I couldn't find a convenient hotel. And then finally I gave in to one of the friends that offered. And I was like, okay, fine. Because Stevenson would be cool there. Dog, cat, everything. And it worked out. And I'm like, this is where you just need to, like, accept help when it is offered.
B
Well, we told Amy she'd come sleep on one of the couches. The Bobby Cat studio. Kenny Chesney was just sitting there.
C
Oh, that'd be nice.
B
Oh, man.
A
I come. Y' all are in a studio, and I come with a child, a dog and a cat. And y'. All.
B
No, we had to Record people. The dogs in.
A
I know. It just.
B
That's what we did with our dogs.
A
Yeah, right. And then there's Yalls dogs. And then like I could just see.
B
Like there might have been a dead cat. But dogs are all dogs.
A
Eller would be like, oh, animal hunt food. Yes.
B
Well, I'm glad you got a shower.
A
Yeah. So my telling something good was easy.
B
To go in bed. I'll do mine. The razorback speed Oklahoma last night, which is pretty good.
A
Oh, sweet.
B
We went. Oh, you don't care that much. Stop. No, I'm happy for you.
A
Are you kidding me?
B
It's closer than it should. We were way down in the first half and so I was. No Internet and so I'm just on like a little bit of cell and it was buffering so annoying.
C
And watching basketball on a cell phone is tough. Like you can barely see the ball.
B
It's hard. So. But we won last night is big road win. That's mine. You.
C
Oh, the puzzle Amy got me for Christmas. I just finished it, man.
B
First world problems. He's like, wow.
C
Amy's like, I got a warm shower.
A
I was working on a puzzle by candlelight.
B
Wow. Old school. He's like the fourth warm dinner in a row we had last night in the perfect temperature room. But you haven't had food though, huh? Still not real food. Are you kind of off?
C
Oh, the fast. Yeah. No, man, I've been real. I've been. Dude, I went to the grocery store.
B
And it's more like a diet now. It's not a fast anymore because you ate meat and everything, but also you're.
C
Eating two pieces of meat. And that was like.
B
But you're eating vegetables and stuff. That's not a fast.
C
Vegetables and fruit. Yeah, it's part of the Daniel fast.
B
Yeah, that's a diet.
A
They call it the Daniel diet.
B
That's not a fast. I don't know, man.
A
I'm at Google.
C
I think it's called a fast.
B
But.
C
But anyway, it's. It's just a sacrifice. Like, I love me. I love food. I love meals, and I'm not getting meals. Like, last night I had celery and like hummus, you know, and like, that's all I had for dinner. So I'm in the middle of it and I. And I did find out I'm done on February 3rd. That's my last day.
B
So yours doesn't feel like yours is just named after. It's not actually named for a fast. They named it that.
C
But Daniel.
B
Yes. Because the book of Daniel. But it's not a real fast. It's more of a. The first four days are a defined fast, but it's called an overall fast. But it's just because of what they're nailing. The second part of it's not a fast.
C
Yes. I'm not like, just water fast for like 20 days.
B
No, you're not fasting. You're on a diet.
C
No, I'm fasting. No, it's a fast.
B
Hey, can you tell me the definition of a fast, Bobby? I'm glad you asked me.
A
Well, some people can fast from their cell phone.
C
From, like, gambling. You can fast from anything.
A
Yeah, I mean, I guess to Eddie's point, he's fasting from meat sans his.
C
Son'S birthday Meals, man. Like, just real meals.
B
So you just eat a banana.
C
Yeah. Bananas, Apple. Breakfast lunch. I'll do like a salad.
B
And wait, wait, wait. You have. That's a diet. You have lettuce.
C
That's a vegetable. Yeah.
A
And he has hummus.
C
Yeah, that's a bean.
B
That sounds like what I have every day.
C
Why? Why would you do that to yourself? Like, I can't have any chicken in my salad. That sucks.
A
And he's like, I'm not having any potato chips. This is a fast.
C
Let's be positive.
A
This.
C
Tell me something good. I finished my puzzle, man.
B
All right, tell me something good. Lunchbox. Oh, yeah, that. We actually. We got power back, which was awesome, but we had no water because a water main broke. Oh, man, that sucks.
A
Like, just yours or everybody in our neighborhood. Okay.
B
And so, like, everybody's like, hey, do you know what's up with the water? And I was like, oh, the pipes must be frozen. And then we got an alert saying a water main had broken. And so they finally fixed it. And so now we actually have free flowing water. And you can do dishes and you can. You have warm water. We do have warm water. Nice. So, yeah.
C
That normal things.
B
Yes, because. So you were fasting from water for a while. I was.
C
Were you praying when you didn't have water?
B
All fasts don't have to be religious.
C
Well, mine is. I'm not talking about everybody's fast. Talking about my fast.
B
But your fear diet is just. You're just on a diet.
C
It's a fast. So you're calling it a diet? It's a fast to me. Like, if I want to go on a diet, I would just like, oh, I'm not eating this, this, this, or whatever. But I'm actually praying in the middle of this.
B
That's Great. You're dieting and praying in the middle of your diet.
C
It's a fast.
A
Okay.
B
I literally don't care.
A
Me neither. We obviously don't care.
C
Yeah, we just keep bringing us.
A
So. Yeah, my cat was at. We had to take her to the emergency ER in the ice storm.
C
Yeah.
A
She started peeing blood because we were staying at a hotel, and hotel adds stress because she has kidney disease. But she's doing a lot better now, and I'm really thankful for that. I'm trying to focus on the small wins because we also just got kicked out of our hotel that we've been staying at, so. Oh, because of the blood. No, no, Wait, What? No, there. It's got sold out.
B
It's coming out the bottom of the door.
C
How do you get kicked out of a hotel? They got.
A
They're sold out now. We've stayed there for three nights, four days now, and it's just, like, now oversold because people need places to stay, so.
B
So you only booked it up to a certain point?
A
Yeah, because we were.
B
Ramundo had posted a picture, and it looked like a Vegas convention. It was so packed in, like, that lobby area. Yeah. Full families and their pets. They're allowing those as well. I was driving in today, and I was seeing people with all their pets walking around all the hotels, driving into work. Ray, the company set you up pretty good though, huh? Yeah, I. I mean, I hate to brag, but I was in the 24th floor penthouse, and they had, like, a. A tub is what it's called. It has little jacuzzi jets. And it was room service. Every. Any food you wanted. Yeah, that's how room service works. He was so complaining. Yeah. They didn't have pizza. Wasn't he kidding? It was funny. It was really funny. The text was, they didn't allow us to have fries. They didn't have pizza. They didn't have any, like, appetizers. So you had to choose between wagyu steak or a wagyu burger. And I just had had enough meat, dude. Like, as Amy said, we could see our breath in our house.
C
And he started the text with, guys, I'm serious. This isn't a joke.
A
Yeah. And he was like, I'm about to lose my mind if I walk down the street and Mellow Mushroom is closed. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
B
Ray has been in a hotel, though, before. We even lost our power because they put him there just in case. In case it went bad. He lives far out, and then he has to be here to make sure the show is on because not everybody that's listening is going through what we're going through. So are you still in the hotel? No, I'm out. I got kicked out as well.
A
Well, so what are you gonna do?
B
Yeah, power back home. Yeah, power's been fine. The county that I live in didn't lose power at all. There's not a lot of trees there and just a lot of cliffs. So we were good. And I think the roads are fine. Yeah, yeah, a lot of the roads are now good to go. Just don't hit one of the splotches that are on the side of the road because I could get you. Okay. You have us. You ever tell me something good, Ray? That I haven't been cold, haven't been hungry? There you go. Didn't lose power? Oh, yeah. My wife's been able to work. Did you ever get your pizza? I did get pizza. I went to Hank Junior's, Thunderhead Hawkins. He had some pizza and it was awesome. I ordered some dairy free pizza for the first time.
C
Oh, you're fasting.
A
How is that?
B
Well, I can't eat pizza because I can't eat cheese. And so I think it was good because I haven't had pizza in a long time. It was actually good.
A
So did you go cheeseless or you did a vegan cheese?
B
No, it was a vegan cheese and that sounds gross.
A
No, I've had it before.
C
You can find a good one that tastes like somewhat pizza.
B
I'm fasting from real cheese.
A
Yeah.
C
Oh, welcome, man. You're serious.
B
Thank you, man. Thank you very much. And most vegan pizzas though obviously don't have meat on them because they're vegan.
C
Yeah.
B
So I have to get vegan pizza with meat.
A
You're like. And they're like, sir, what's the pepperoni? Maybe you just say like, I can't have. Do you just say like no dairy?
B
Yeah, but they're listed as a vegan pizza. Okay, so it's like a vegan cheese pizza with vegan pepperoni. I don't want vegan meat on it. If I can chew, some of the meat's good, but I want real. I'm not avoiding meat. But I had real pepperoni, vegan cheese. It was actually good. I don't know if it was really good because it was good or because I haven't had pizza in six months or so. I guess I haven't had that lately. We were looking last night, it's just a disaster. Everything's a disaster right now, but tell me something good. Yeah, we're thankful.
C
We are thankful.
B
Yeah, tell me something good. There you go. That was. Tell me something good. Hey, it's Bobby Bones from the Bobby Bones Show. It's time for the good news with Bobby. Tell me something good. An employee at an Outback Steakhouse carried a quiet act of kindness for a family that was facing the loss of their two elderly dogs. Earlier in the month, Marvin called the restaurant because his dogs were sick and very old. One had cancer. They were going to have their final meal for the dogs, and so they were going to have big steaks. And so the employee who was told about that was like, hey, I'm going to do this. And he covered the 40 bucks or so on their bill for the two steaks and didn't say anything about it. Manager heard it, shared the story. It went viral. So pretty cool. The guy even wrote a letter to the restaurant thanking the employee and just saying, hey, your compassion, you know, is. Is noted and will be paid forward. He says the dogs, Raven and Bruno, were like children to him and his wife, and that kindness made it slightly more bearable. So a big shout out to Marvin Gonzalez. I know what it's like to lose dogs that you've had forever, that you love more than anything. And a big shout out to that employee who is anonymous at Outback for. For paying for the meal just because they thought it would be the right thing to do. That's from sunny skies, and that is what it's all about that was. Tell me something good. It's time for the good news with producer Eddie. Tell me something good.
C
Sonny Reagan. He was born in Atlanta in 1925. He just turned 100 years old, and to celebrate his birthday, he went to his great granddaughter school, who were also celebrating 100 days of school. So they were like 100 days of school for us, 100 years for great grandpa.
B
Yeah. One of those hundreds is a lot more tired.
C
Yeah. Poor grandpa. But it was cool, man. He went in, told stories about the war and him growing up back in the day. They loved it.
B
He was born in 1925. Did you ever have any great grandparents?
C
No, dude, I barely knew my grandparents.
B
Yeah, some of my grandparents I didn't know at all because they died. Like, my mom's dad died when she was eight, so obviously I didn't know him. But, yeah, I never knew any grand great grandparents.
C
Like, my. Both of my grandfathers died when I was really, really young, so I barely knew them. But before my dad died, we got a lot of stories out of him about his grandfather and stuff. So asking those questions is really cool for your parents.
B
Kaitlyn's grandma made a book of her life. It was something you could just do on the Internet. It would ask prompts, and she just wrote, answered all the prompts, and they made it a book. And it's like her life. So all the information can be sent down. That's awesome. It's great. It's made like a book. She gave it to Caitlin, my wife, and her other grandkids, maybe even kids.
C
Such a good idea.
