I've been kind of switching my energy drink up a little bit and mostly I don't feel like the energy part of it works on me. Caffeine doesn't really have a big effect on me, but I like to burn so I was drinking A little bit of that. Alani.

Yeah. And they had this cherry flavor that was really good. And now they have a strawberry flavor. That's pretty good. I got that for the first time.

I don't ever see it on shelf. I just go to Amazon and get it. So. But you know what I like, I drink a lot of those life waters.

Yeah. That's how you know it's not a commercial because I've said it wrong. And I only do one kind. It's the pineapple coconut. And it's so good. There's no energy in those. But I can't have more than about one and a half a day because it is so citrusy. I'm talking about knock your face off citrusy. And so too much citrus hurts my stomach. But those are really good. I've been drinking those a lot.

Yeah, they're really good. They do have energy versions, but I guess you're. The one you're getting is not.

Yeah, yeah. And I. I'm not doing any energy after like 9am anyway.

So. When are you taking the strawberry Alani?

In the morning. Oh, I just like to burn. I would drink Mountain Dew or Coke and I don't know if one's better than the other, meaning if I'm weighing them. But there's a new flavor that I really like, so that's one of them. I wonder what my other good thing was. I forgot. I tell you what the suck was though. Is that teething baby. I don't wish it upon anybody crying.

She's crying a lot.

[Caitlin]

It's just. It's constant.

So much pain. I mean, she's. We don't realize how much pain they're going through.

[Caitlin]

It's cons.

I mean, to think about when we have like an annoying, like a cut on our tongue or we bite our lip, how painful it is in our mouths. Like our. After we go to the dentist. Sometimes I'm in pain for the next 12 hours. I mean, as baby. We all did it as.

[Emily]

But we don't remember.

[Amy]

I know. So as a baby, it's.

[Caitlin]

It's hard. It's hard on her. It's hard on us because it's hard on her. But it's harder on her. So, yeah, that's my suck. Tell me something good.

[Amy]

Okay, well, this is going to be good for you and me because I'm going To feel better about getting the chairs gone. I'm picking up the chairs today.

[Caitlin]

Oh, you are?

[Amy]

Yep. So it feels real good because I've been trying to figure out a time between when someone will be there to let us in and when my friend with a truck could take me. And we finally got the window worked out, and we're coming today. Gotta have it all coordinated.

[Caitlin]

I'm glad because we went over to our studios that we do the podcast from whenever Caitlin's family was here. And one of those chairs is just in the waiting area. And Katelyn's like, this does not look good. And I said, I know. Wait on Amy to pick it up.

[Amy]

She was just saying, like, was she saying, you're not going to keep it like this? Right. Because this is. This doesn't go here. Does she think you thought that chair went there?

[Caitlin]

No, but she designed that area. And then her parents came over and she was showing her the area she designed, and there's this big orange chair in the middle, and she's like, this was not part of that.

[Amy]

Part of it. Yeah, yeah. It's all Amy's fault.

[Caitlin]

She didn't know that.

[Amy]

But then you said, yeah, then I told her.

[Eddie]

I said, no, this is Amy's fault.

[Caitlin]

Or trying to get rid of these chairs.

But I'm sure they understood.

Does your daughter have her apartment?

[Amy]

It's. She's not moving in until Aug. Like, she's got a few weeks. I think move in date is.

Where are you putting all the stuff?

I put them in my garage, I guess.

Yeah.

How much stuff does she have?

[Amy]

We have two chairs from. You picking those up today. A coffee table, a bed. I've got to go measure to see about. I do have some extra counter stools that might work if she has a little bar area. I don't know that we'll do a kitchen table area if we can. She may want to use that for something else because she's like. If they're. She was like, I probably will just sit at the counter. We don't have a couch yet. I'm still looking. I kind of want to see the chairs in person. The coffee table will go with whatever. It's one of those clear acrylic. It's like this coffee table that I have that I'm just going to let her borrowed. That's kind of nice. I don't want to get rid of it, but I also don't need it. So she can have it at her apartment.

Purgatory.

No, it's. It's A. It's a versatile, nice, but you don't need it.

But you also don't get rid of it.

I don't need it in my house right now.

I have it in our game room, but it can easily go from there. It's just like an extra little thing where Stevenson plays his video game and he puts his feet on it, and

He plays Fortnite and Roblox.

I don't play either one of those. I just don't play at all anymore. And my friends got the new college football that I was very much into last year. It's like, we're back on, and, like, one of them's got Texas. And I always go to Arkansas, but Arkansas's terrible. But that's okay. I always build them up. I just. I haven't even bought the game, much less played it, because I just don't have time. I've never had time, but I always found time. Like, early in the morning. If I Woke up at 2 in the morning, I would get up and play. Play instead of just staring at the ceiling or working. That was kind of my, okay, I'm up early. I'm not gonna go back to sleep. I'll go and play a few games. In our league that just doesn't exist.

[Amy]

Yeah. And honestly, I think those are the games he still plays. Like, we went to the store the other day to buy his friend a birthday gift, and we were getting a gift card, and all he wanted to get him was either V bucks, which I think is for Fortnite, and. And then Amazon gift card for just whatever.

[Caitlin]

You should get some of the Alanis. You got a new flavor?

[Amy]

I found no strawberry. No, but the kids. Those kids, they do want to drink Prime.

[Caitlin]

Did prime go out of business?

[Emily]

That's what I thought, because I haven't seen prime in a while.

[Caitlin]

I thought prime was going out of business because they didn't have enough money anymore.

[Amy]

Well, that's what they mostly talk about. I have no idea. Is there still some prime lingering on the shelves?

[Emily]

Maybe.

[Caitlin]

Also, they might still be in business.

[Amy]

I mean, we don't. I don't buy Prime. And you have to be careful because there's prime without energy and then prime with energy. And my. Our kids don't need the prime with the energy. No bueno, Mike.

When you get a Prime update, let us know. They're not out of business. Are they struggling? Just had a slump in sales.

[Amy]

I wonder why.

I just remember when it was the thing. I was driving to nutrition stores because that was the only place that had them in town. And I was like, what am I doing? Like, why do kids like crack? To the kids. Not anymore.

[Caitlin]

But it's mostly because of Jake Paul. Yeah.

[Emily]

One of those dudes.

[Caitlin]

[Amy]

All right. Because every time we see one, Stevenson's like, that whole thing is full of prime juice.

Well, or prime. He was saying juice. But prime.

I would say that's the new Sunny Delight then. Because I think that was juice.

And I'm like, you know what? I don't know.

I mean, it's weird because it has the same font. So it does.

I'm not 100%, but, like, either that's full of fuel or some other scary whatever. Like, I don't know if it's gas or liquid. I don't know what's in there. The tanks look scary also.

Fuel for the body or fuel for.

Yes, yes. Because the tanks are the kind. They're round. They look like if they were to run into something, they explode.

Okay, then that's not the drink, because I'm seeing just regular 18 wheelers. Like box. Box trucks. 18 wheelers.

[Caitlin]

But what if prime is actually in those tanks?

[Amy]

Yes, that's what I'm saying. And then they just go and, like, distribute it into, like, bottles.

[Caitlin]

Did you guys see the couple things I saw? And I don't know these influencers, but they pop up as stories. And so then I become interested in them, which, by the way, I saw another Jen Hamilton story on people yesterday. Another one. That story's getting bigger and bigger. But I saw the story of this family. They were building their dream house and they put a soda machine in their garage. And everybody got so upset about it.

[Amy]

Yeah, who cares?

[Emily]

Yeah. Do whatever you want.

[Amy]

People, they're like, we have soda every day. To me, yeah, it was a $5,000 expense on their end, which they knew it was going to be. Yeah. Yes. Is that a luxury item for their home? Absolutely, if it's something they're drinking every day. And now they don't have to go spend money at the gas station or a fast food place or wherever they get their fountain drink. Like, okay. Also, let them have it.

[Caitlin]

Doesn't matter if they never use it and want to buy it.

[Emily]

It's their life.

[Caitlin]

Let them have it. But the Internet gets mad at everything and that's not even real life. But it was such outrage that they did a story on it.

[Emily]

What was it? Cokes. Like. Yeah, different.

[Caitlin]

Yeah. So did like a, like I would get a.

[Emily]

That's cool.

[Amy]

I mean, a diet Coke dispenser.

[Emily]

I had a kegerator and that was dumb because I thought I would be able to finish it myself. There's no way I could have drank all that beer by myself. Like every day I'd get home, like I'm going to have myself flying, four beers, work on my kegerator. And like I still would throw it away because it would spoil by the time I can even do any kind of damage to it.

[Caitlin]

There was another story that I saw yesterday. Don't know. The influencer family. They have to be really popular. They wouldn't be covered. But they were on a boat. And I think she had a 16 month old. And the 16 month old didn't have their life jacket on.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Caitlin]

And so she was saying in the car, I messed up. I should have had him in a life jacket.

[Amy]

Well, the huge problem with that is she already has a child that died through drowning.

[Doctor]

That's her.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Emily]

Oh my God.

[Amy]

Emily Kaiser or something.

[Caitlin]

Yes, again.

[Eddie]

Oh my gosh.

[Amy]

So it's just not a good look. And the, the controversy surrounding the death of their child. And the husband was out there, but he was on his phone. They've gone to court to keep anything from going public record from the investigation. No charges were pressed. And for other families, I think the thing is, like, if this were any other family and it wasn't this influencer family, and this is me just paraphrasing the Internet. This is not me speaking there. People are frustrated because another family would may possibly get criminally charged for negligence because they didn't have a fence around their pool. And the dad was like, you know, online looking at sports or placing a bet or something at the time of the drowning. And. But the pool thing is it's you, you, you have to have it fenced in. And I think it's aesthetically. On one of her posts on TikTok, at some point when they were decorating their backyard or something, she actually said out loud, like, the fence is so ugly, like, I don't want to put one up. But that was before the death of her baby.

[Caitlin]

Can't believe that's the same family.

[Amy]

It's the same family. So then she was. She's on a European vacation with another influencer family. And I think it was that Girl that was posting a video of them on the boat and then other people that are so dialed in and invested in the death of the other child and how it's being handled in the courts and how documents are being sealed and how the husband isn't being charged with anything and blah, blah, blah. They're now going after and freaking out like, well, my gosh, that's Emily's other child and there's no life jacket and they're on a boat.

[Caitlin]

I would think the Internet would be mad at anybody if they had a young kid on a boat without a life jacket. But it just is amplified because that's the. I didn't know they're the same person.

[Amy]

It's all the layers to it that make it really just concerning.

[Caitlin]

Yeah, that's a bad one. Because she was in her car doing the video that I saw. She was like, I know, did wrong doing that. And I thought, dang, yeah, we all mess up. I thought, bad. Bad to you. I don't comment, though. Even then, I'm not a commenter. I think for the most part, if you're commenting and somebody and. And it's not something positive, you're a loser.

[Amy]

Okay, here's something I almost commented negative on and I started to type and then I didn't. I'm not a naked. No, no, no. It wasn't me being. I wanted to be. It was actually being supportive but negative. Let me explain. So you know Bethany Frankel, Real Housewives? Yes. So I follow her sometimes. You know, she does chicken salad reviews. She has a lot of Amazon dupe finds, which is interesting to me because she apparently sold her company, Skinny Girl for a lot of money. Like a hundred million, maybe, if I have that correctly. And I'm like, does she really need to be linking Amazon dupes all the time? I don't know. So then there's some rumors that she didn't make that much money. And she's neat. She's hard up for cash.

[Caitlin]

So the only thing I would say to that is because if someone sells their company, they may. It may be their company, but they may only own 22% of it because people have to actually pay for the distribution, the manufacturing.

Rarely does anybody make all the money if their company is sold.

[Amy]

Okay, that's a valid point.

[Caitlin]

She probably made a bunch of money. But if she sold it for 100 million, she might have made 18 million.

Okay, valid, so. And hey, no shame in her game. If you need a hustle, whatever. I'm all about it. It's just this is some of the stuff I'm seeing in the comments right now. Regardless, regarding this situation where she's wearing this necklace. That an independent jeweler, someone who. And I've started to watch her videos. I don't even know the company name, but I got really invested in this because she saw Bethany wearing her necklace and she was like. She sits. She. Her home office at home, just her. She's the only employee. She made this necklace. And she's freaking out. She's like, bethany Frankel's wearing my necklace. Because Bethany can move some product. And she's like, how in the world. So she goes through all of her shipping orders. There's nothing related to Bethany. And she. So she figures out that there was a company in Florida where Bethany's lived that bought a few pieces of her jewelry to carry in their store and that that particular piece went to that store. Cause each one's handmade. So she knows exactly what they look like. And they're each unique in their own way. So she figures out that's how Bethany got the necklace. So she reaches out and says, you know, hey, this is so cool. I'd love to. And then Bethany's team, she shows receipts of Bethany's team being like, oh yeah, Bethany loves this necklace. If you'd love to send more, she'll wear them. And we'd love to. We love supporting women owned small businesses. So the woman makes several more necklaces, not wanting to be annoying, and send them on her own. They asked for them, she sent them. And Bethany continues to wear them. And then when she's talking about her outfit, she'll be like, this shirt is blah, blah. This pants are. This necklace is bauble. Well, bauble, bubble, bauble, B, A, U, B, L, E or whatever is another jewelry brand. I think Bethany, some people say, has like a small investment in. But I know Bubble. I've ordered a necklace from Bubble, but it's a bigger, bigger company. It's definitely not one person sitting at home making jewelry. And the girl is like, what the heck? No, that's the necklace I sent you. So she starts being like, well, what am I supposed to do? Like, now they're ignoring me. And she's like, and I sent them this product. So. And then there was another video of Bethany. She's like, oh, here's a necklace I made out of two necklaces put together. So now this girl's. I'm so proud of her. And she's like, if you want more like this, like, you know, I can make it. And here's where you can order. And I have no idea why Bethany's lying, saying she made it, because actually, here's an email of her team requesting for me to send some necklaces. So I did, for free. Expecting maybe, yeah, just some promotion in return since you're offering that to support a small business. Like, and so I wanted to comment like, Bethany, like, why are you not tagging this girl's business? You know? So that was gonna be my, my negativity. And then I was like, I don't need to get involved in this, but it does make me want to order a necklace from this girl. Oh, isn't that a whole thing? But isn't that weird and shady? Like, there's so many videos of her saying it's a bobble necklace. The girls pulled them all.

I was interested in that whole story.

It was fascinating.

Yeah, I was interested in every bit of that story.

And then I'm like, I can't remember sometimes what six times eight is. You know what I mean?

Yeah, but that's crazy. I wonder what's really happening behind the scenes there.

I don't know. But Bethany's not stupid.

It's. It's really. And you know, then I go down this rabbit hole because other people are like, oh, yeah, she recently did this to a woman owned shoe brand. So then I'm like, well, I need to figure out about these shoes. And sure enough, this shoe brand sent her a pair of shoes and she was wearing it in her ootd. And she didn't credit them for the shoes because I guess she couldn't figure out maybe where they were from or what the link was. So she linked a lookalike on Amazon.

Oh, dang.

And that person's like, wait, what? I sent you those shoes. And these are girls that are just, you know, again, they're not big companies. They're just trying to make it. And they send Bethany something. She happens to wear it. Which again, the shoe girl's like, I have no expectations. I don't have a thing with her. But why I feel for the necklace girl is. Bethany's team reached out and asked for more necklaces, so that girl took time to make them.

I don't think had you commented that, that would have been the same.

Well, I know, but it felt like I was contributing to this, like, negative energy but also wanting to support this girl at the same time.

Yeah, I think the message could have been something super supportive toward the girl. Oh, that looks like so and so necklace, which I really love. But I feel you. If you're commenting something negative in comments, you're a loser. Straight up, you're losing.

[Amy]

So you. It would have been okay for me to do that.

Yeah. To say something like, oh, this looks a lot like at hometown necklace. Their stuff's great and that's it. But if you're commenting negativity in someone's comments, you can easily just move past it and not spend any time on it. If you're being nice in someone's comments, man, that's awesome. That's so supportive. That helps the algorithm. That helps. Any engagement helps. But yeah, I see people that comment negative stuff for no reason, and I just. A little bit of me feel sorry for them. There's nothing more losery than commenting something negative that is unneeded and unass asked for in somebody's comments. I'm not talking about mine, man. There was this video Kayla and I were watching last night. I don't know if it popped up in you guys algorithm. This guy who's running for office, and his pants are pulled up almost to his nipples, and he's. He's just an older guy and he's like, my name's Dr. Whatever and I'm running for office. You get one of these signs for your yard, but his pants are so high. You read the comments and you're going, earth is funny. People were so funny in the comments. They were like that peanut butter to jelly combo. Not equal.

It was so funny. And they weren't being negative. It was just people being funny. But it had 2 million likes. It was such a random video that caught fire. God, we were dying last night.

somebody that I posted something yesterday on my page and they weren't mean. This wasn't mean but so I posted a picture of Caitlin's grandpa who's almost 90 and I playing shuffleboard and he's with it. I'm telling you. He goes, he delivered a cow like four months ago.

If it doesn't come out easily and naturally the normal way, sometimes it gets turned. And he was having to unturn. He had to go in to help pull the calf out. He's almost 90 and he's doing this by himself on his farm. So we're playing shuffleboard in this picture and then there's some other ones in it. This is just a carousel of stuff. And someone said, your buttons are off. Lol. And I was like, what does that mean? Why are they insulting me to my, like, what's the put down that I'm missing? But then I go to my third picture where I'm with Stella Lefty. My buttons were off. Oh, on your show, just instructional. Yeah, I will go to my blood pressure because it's just been a thing that's consuming my life. I went to the doctor. I don't know. I, I, they did my blood pressure and it was like 150 something over. I don't know. I don't even know what the numbers mean, but apparently 150 is high. So they're like, oh my gosh, they did it twice. They sent me home with a machine and a log paper. I have to do my, my blood pressure every day. Dude. I say I'm down to like the 135s consistent already. Yeah, I think it was literally just that day. I think it's just that day, or there was a couple of days, too. It. It just depends on what's going on in my. In my life. But I do feel like in my life, I can tell when I'm stressed out, which is a whole new thing to me.

[Caitlin]

But does acute stress affect blood pressure?

[Emily]

Yeah. Yeah. Because if I'm stressed, and it's not like, if I'm stressed at that moment, it's. If it's just a stressful day to me. You know how, like, when you look at your calendar and you're talking about how, like, oh, it's dotted up, that stresses me out. Like, if I have a calendar that's dotted up and I know that I have to end things at a certain time because I got to be somewhere at this time. Stress. So if I took my blood pressure that night. Dude, it's. It's high. Super high.

[Caitlin]

You keep a detailed calendar?

[Emily]

My wife does. It's a family calendar.

[Caitlin]

So she keeps it and you see it.

I never add to it, unless it's like, a doctor's appointment that I have to add to it, but never do I add.

I hope your blood pressure goes down. Did you ever try fish oil? Because no. I would go in for things. They'd be like, you should do fish oil. And I do it for, like, a few days. I don't even know if fish oil works. Is that one of those things, Amy, where you just kind of cross your fingers?

[Amy]

No, I think it's recommended for people because it's got your omega threes, your omega sixes, maybe. I don't know what's all in it, but I've done that before. My mom used to take a spoonful of omega 3 oil every day, or fish oil. Yeah.

[Caitlin]

I feel like I was just getting told, take fish oil for everything that it was.

[Amy]

Well, maybe you're lacking in your Omegas.

[Eddie]

Like, your ankles hurt.

[Caitlin]

Take fish oil.

[Amy]

Well, because it's a lubricant.

Let me ask. Hold on. Hey, I have a question. So a couple of times I've been told that I should take fish oil. What's the benefit? Like, the. For sure Scientific benefit of fish oil.

So fish oil has some solid uses, but it's kind of oversold as a cure. All the clearest evidence is for people with high triglycerides. Prescription omega 3s can help lower those. For most healthy adults, supplements haven't consistently shown big benefits for heart attacks, brain health, or joints.

[Caitlin]

So would you say, oh, sorry, sorry, sorry. Would you say. When she's asking me questions now.

[Emily]

I know.

[Caitlin]

Okay. So would you say that fish oil mostly would be compared to old school snake oil?

[Doctor]

I wouldn't go that far. It is overhyped, but not total snake oil. Prescription omega 3s clearly lower very high triglycerides, which is real and useful. But for the average healthy person, the heart and brain benefits from supplements are pretty small or inconsistent.

[Caitlin]

And you're saying prescription. So I was just told to go to the Walmart and get fish oil.

[Emily]

Over the counter?

[Caitlin]

Yeah, over the counter. So. But it has to be prescription.

[Doctor]

Yeah. The strong evidence is for prescription strength products used under a doctor's care, not typical store supplements over the counter. Fish oil varies a lot in dose impurity. So if your doctor didn't specify a reason or dose, it might be worth circling back and asking why they recommended it and what goal they had in mind.

[Caitlin]

Ask about the lubricant. Nah, I don't want to get there with her.

[Emily]

Does it lube your body up?

[Caitlin]

I felt fish oil was kind of snake oil. I don't know that I was proven wrong there. Definitely wasn't fully.

And, and then like, how do they get the oil from the fish? Like, did they squeeze it?

[Caitlin]

I'm not sure it's that exactly.

It's got to be. I mean, they say if you eat salmon, you're getting your omega.

No, I told you my mom would do a spoonful.

You guys know I'm on vitamin D, right? Like, now I take vitamin D tablets for my whole life.

That's. I was told to take vitamin D tablets for a couple of reasons.

I think we're all deficient.

We all are. That's what my doctor said. But once you start making it, which. That's what happened. I took mine. Prescription strength. How many units do you want?

Just a thousand.

Yeah, from the store.

Because I told you, Amy's gonna prescribe you more right now. Amy, don't.

No, here's what I know is I was deficient. So she's like, look, we're gonna put you on 50,000. We'll call them units.

Amy overdoses on vitamin D. Snake oil.

[Amy]

No, this is my. Part of my hormone replacement therapy. The doctor that came in and talked to us.

[Caitlin]

That's true.

[Amy]

So I only had to take it from. For a few months at that. One capsule a week. Just one pill a week. Every Thursday I was taking it, and then my. A couple of Thursdays ago, I ran out and I reached out to her and she said, your last blood work indicated that your vitamin D is back up. Because I was consistently taking that. And then now my body's starting to produce it on its own. Because I try to get outside in the sun, uncovered with my limbs, my arms, and my legs for no more than 10 minutes. Cause I don't want sun damage. But I try to do that to, like, charge a little bit. And then now my body's producing it on its own when it wasn't before. But because I'm getting. Remember I had some flat tires. Now all my wheels, my car's operating better. Now my body's producing things like testosterone, like vitamin D, like iron, doing it on its own. But I had to give it a push. I think you need a bigger push than a thousand.

[Emily]

Well, I told her that I drive a Jeep and I take the top down, so, like, after work I expose my lens.

[Amy]

What about your legs count?

[Emily]

I keep my pants on.

[Caitlin]

I saw listeners, though, in a comment section talking about how your thing was snake oil.

[Amy]

What thing?

[Caitlin]

The pellet. And how it's not. They were just going on and on about how it's bad and what. Yeah.

[Doctor]

Is it?

[Caitlin]

No, no, you can't believe them. No, I'm just.

[Eddie]

You should know.

[Caitlin]

I'm saying.

Well, no, no, I should know. I'm trusting a doctor. But why would so many. Why would a. Why would hormone replacement therapy be snake oil? Like, why would the testosterone.

[Caitlin]

I, I don't know. I just saw. But if you say, are these.

Did these people think Advil snake oil?

[Caitlin]

I don't know them personally. I didn't reach out for further comment. I just saw, like a small group of them going, I would never do this. It's not blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

because anything you say, people are going

to go, oh, I don't know. I don't think that's good. And then you have people agree with them. You can say anything and people will believe it. You don't need. You don't reach back out. You don't want a random comment or reaching back out to give you medical advice.

it's a doctor that's telling you who has an education and what they're doing versus someone who you don't know, just writing a comment on the Internet.

Yes, but doctors, sometimes, I will say doctors do sometimes be like, yeah, we were wrong about that.

[Amy]

Okay.

[Caitlin]

Yes, but you're playing the odds. A doctor is someone who has studied and they have an education and a very detailed education over a long amount of time. So if they're wrong, it's going to be far more rare than somebody who's read an article from somebody who's just done some research.

[Emily]

Yeah.

[Caitlin]

So, yes, there's going to be doctors that are wrong, but you're betting overall the doctors are way more right than wrong.

[Amy]

Well, here's what I can say is I've gotten blood work since I started the therapy, and my blood work is trending in the right direction because they're actually getting the hormones, not snake oil.

[Caitlin]

No, none of us here are arguing with you. I just said that there are listeners that were going I would never that because they were giving these reasons, but they don't know more than a doctor does.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Caitlin]

And there are doctors that are wrong. Some of the best doctors are wrong sometimes. But you're betting on someone who has spent a lot of their time dedicated to a very specific thing. And they'll be wrong occasionally, but far less wrong than somebody who did not go to school for it.

[Emily]

But I feel like doctors all listen to one group. Right. Like I feel like, because I hear doctors say the same thing, almost like they read it in, in the same book.

[Eddie]

Yeah, it's called science.

[Emily]

They listen to research.

[Eddie]

When people say they did research, do what research actually is, it's not you reading something. Research is actually trials, tests, results.

Peer reviewed journals, that's research.

When someone goes, oh, I did my

own research about vaccines. No you didn't.

You read two articles.

You didn't. No, it's not even someone else's research. It's someone else writing an article about reading a theory from someone who has an opinion. Like actual research, we can't do. Actual research is hypothesis. Actual research is, let's have the trial. Let's then compare our results to other peers who have done it. That's what fires me up.

No, this is not research.

But like whenever you're just like, man, I researched the pellet that Amy's taking. You're just reading articles, you read a

couple articles, you're not doing proper research. Doctors have access to proper research and they can also do research with people that they're, they are administering or prescribing it to and for. Yeah, their body of work is so much greater than us reading a few articles about what three people think.

[Amy]

And, and, and to be fair, my doctor did say she used to be anti the pellet. And then with the yam one, she does have a pharmaceutical background, so before she was a gynecologist, she was a pharmacist. So she played around with a lot of it and found this to be effective for her patients.

[Eddie]

So I'm not even advocating for the

[Caitlin]

pellet because I don't know. But there's just such a difference in a, in someone going, why research it by reading a few articles from a few people. Actual research is done. Trial, that's not research. Okay, you can learn a bit about it. But then all that you've learned is not more than what people have learned studying for, well, undergrad, post grad, doctorate, residency. You're Crazy.

[Emily]

I just feel like doctors do the same thing. They read other people's research and they all read the same one. So they're all saying the same thing until they're proven otherwise and then they change their stance on it.

[Doctor]

That's.

[Caitlin]

That's the history of medicine. Yeah, that's the absolute history of medicine. Before penicillin there, everybody thought the same thing because the most successful results they saw were before penicillin existed. And then, okay, now we have penicillin, which now is so many other things. And it shifts because there is now a new education with something that all of the doctors that we're doing research on know and understand. So that's exactly. That's what technology is, too. That is the history of mankind. Learn, share, do so much until someone learns something different. Test and see if they're crazy or so crazy it's right. If right, shift to that. It doesn't mean they were wrong before, but they were limited before. Right now we're limited. In 10 years, whenever we have all the new thoughts and theories and understandings, you think, oh, we're not limited. We've learned so much. We're still limited. What's going to happen in the next 10 years? We're always limited. It never taps out. But, yes, I'm going to trust somebody who's done 6, 8, 10, 12 years. The only thing that I don't always trust is prescriptions because, well, they're basically lobbied by.

Farm.

[Amy]

Yeah. And then there is that scandal from the, the pharmaceutical company that was doing the opioids. Remember the documentary or the. Even the show with Batman. What's his name?

[Emily]

Pattinson?

[Caitlin]

If you say Batman, then I go, okay, this is fun.

[Amy]

No, no, no. Yes. Michael Keaton, he was the doctor. That was good show on Hulu, but it told you the history of how they got. When money gets so widely used.

[Caitlin]

Yeah, money. When money gets involved, I start to go, yeah.

[Amy]

And then they had an insider in the FDA that was finagling things, and then they were telling doctors, yeah, this is totally safe. And sales reps, I mean, and then to your point, Eddie, of doctors are all kind of saying the same thing because they're being told the same thing. And that was the case. And then they realize like, oh, shoot, this is not, not good.

[Caitlin]

If it comes to healing, if it comes to surgeries, if it comes to organ universal, I'm going to believe what the latest science has taught me. If it comes to things where people are making money with big pharma, I'm going To keep one eye open when I sleep. All right, Lunchbox, tell me something good.

Yeah. Yesterday was my mom's birthday, and we did something cool for the first time that my sister was here and her three kids. So we got to be able to. And what we did is we got a birthday cake, and we had, like, she was at the birthday, and we just celebrated. Yes. Because they have that technology now. The thing that Howie Mandel has, and there's some around airports where they just have some built in. But let's say his example was you wanted a guitar lesson from Slash the Guns N' Roses League guitar player. You could pay money and he could set up with just his phone and beam in. And you're watching his hologram live in that box. So, yes, you can do that now. It costs a lot of money to have one of those boxes. That company jumped in my comments and said, hey, tag us. I said, hey, give me a free one, and I will.

Help. Well, Jory just happens to have his cattle roping rope with him that he's been practicing on the shore. He picks that sucker up. Whoom. And he lassos the guy in the water. Guys. And I'm not talking. It takes two, three times. First time he lassoed the dude and pulled him to the shore.

That's funny.

[Emily]

That's amazing.

[Caitlin]

That's good. And not the second or third time.

[Emily]

The first time. That's a cowboy right there, man.

[Lunchbox]

14 years old.

[Eddie]

So Emma is five years old and she was diagnosed with this rare bone disease. It's called a plastic anemia. And so she needed a bone marrow transplant. And they looked around and you know who was a match? Her two year old sister. And so without hesitation, the two year old sister, her name is Lucy, she donated the bone marrow. And now Emma's good.

[Eddie]

Say without hesitation she didn't volunteer. I mean, I'm glad she did, but.

[Emily]

Yeah, no, they said, they said that Lucy was like, I'll do it.

[Eddie]

I'm glad.

[Caitlin]

I don't want to be that guy.

[Emily]

But she's, she had no choice.

[Eddie]

I think it's amazing.

[Caitlin]

It's an amazing story.

[Amy]

They were like, Lucy, do you want to help your sister?

[Eddie]

I bet they. I think, Lucy, you're going to help your sister.

[Amy]

Well, you have to get consent.

[Lunchbox]

No, you don't. You just stuck a needle in them and found out they're a match and they took it from.

[Eddie]

Yeah. Did you get consent to test her?

[Lunchbox]

No.

[Emily]

Guys, I'm pretty sure Lucy had to.

[Amy]

Yeah.

[Emily]

Say I'll do it. Something.

[Amy]

Yeah, you have you. Yeah.

[Eddie]

You would think at two. Okay.

[Caitlin]

You know what they did. Here's a piece of candy if you want it.

[Eddie]

I love that that worked.

So I don't want to take away from that.

[Eddie]

But without hesitation feels like a weird

[Caitlin]

thing because she wasn't allowed to hesitate.

[Emily]

She doesn't even know what's going on.

[Caitlin]

She doesn't know what bone is, much less bone marrow.

[Emily]

And they call it the terrible twos. I feel like this is a pretty good two.

[Eddie]

I agree. That's a delightful two. It's a life saving twos. That is a good story.

Okay. A two year old cannot legally consent to donating bone marrow. Consent must be provided by a parent or guardian. However, the child's feelings and understanding should be considered in the decision making process.
