A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks. But the great thing now at Starbucks is is that if you go and you decide you want to hang out in Starbucks for a little bit, they're now doing ceramics like glassware. So if you're gonna go, you're gonna meet a friend and you order a drink and you say, I want it here, you're going to get it in a mug or a glass. So you go to Starbucks anyway. Next time, stay a while. At your next Starbucks visit, picture yourself going for a drive. What comes to mind? Potholes. Those guys on motorcycles that drive up in between you in the lane. Sleepy truck drivers. Red light runners. Distracted pedestrians crossing where they shouldn't. Yeah, sometimes it feels like the road is out to get you. But thankfully, Hyundai offers available class exclusive advanced safety features that help protect you and your family. They put your safety first and everything else second. For example, you can change lanes with much more confidence thanks to the available blind Spot View monitor, which shows you a live video feed of your blind spots. Eddie
Come on, Bobby.
Amy
Transmitting.
Bobby Bones
This is the Bobby Bo show.
Amy
Let's go.
Bobby Bones
Hey, welcome to Wednesday show morning studio morning. Rough morning at the house and I'll get to the snow in a second. But I couldn't feed Stanley this morning. I did feed Eller. Stanley has a sonogram today.
Lunchbox
I don't remember.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, it's where they put the camera and look inside your guts and stuff. A lot of times they do that for women and babies, but they do it. I had to get one on me one time as well.
Lunchbox
Well. But I feel like a sonogram. Isn't that external, or are they going inside?
Bobby Bones
No, no, no, it's external.
Lunchbox
Oh, okay.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. I had to get one on my knee once. Is that the one?
Eddie
They put the jelly on it and they kind of rub the.
Bobby Bones
I don't know. They put jelly on a dog, but they were like, don't feed him, because we got to go into them. So I had to not feed him in front of Eller. He knows he hated me this morning, so that was annoying. But he's got. So I think he just might be me on a different timeline. He's got so many issues. Digestive issues.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Maybe y'all are feeding off of each other in that way.
Bobby Bones
Or maybe he's me just in a different line because time isn't really linear.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Maybe you're a dog and he's human.
Eddie
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Multiple things are happening at once.
Eddie
Yeah, this totally could happen.
Lunchbox
And he's, like, vision issues. Right?
Bobby Bones
Well, he's had surgery on his eye. Yeah. His.
Amy
Left eye, though. Yeah. So maybe it's.
Lunchbox
Sometimes things get mixed up.
Eddie
Didn't his ankle hurt, too, or something?
Bobby Bones
Not his ankle. He's had both. He's torn both ACLs.
Eddie
Okay.
Bobby Bones
He's had, like, 11 surgeries. I haven't had that many. But we're here. We had a snowstorm. We had a light snowing last night, so it wasn't anything compared to the one that we had about a month ago. So it felt like. Woke up, I could still see the top of the plants in the yard, and I was like.
Amy
I could see, like, some green.
Bobby Bones
I was like, ah, this one's not that bad.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. So we're all here. I posted on my Instagram story, you can see kind of outside. How was your drive in?
Lunchbox
It was good.
Bobby Bones
Fine.
Lunchbox
Yeah, fine.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Lunchbox
I was just more nervous, like, getting out. There's, like, a little teeny, tiny bridge past my neighborhood that I'm like, okay, this is the true test. I don't know that they put anything down over that. Bridges just freaked me out. But other than that, felt like it was pretty easy. And I'm like, I'm a nervous wreck driving in this stuff. And it wasn't. It didn't freak me out.
Bobby Bones
I sent a note, too. I was like, hey, if anybody doesn't feel safe they don't have to come in, like, stay home talking to Abby. Abby, could you drive a car? You have a couple cars, right?
Abby
Yeah, well, I was driving my suv.
Amy
Oh.
Bobby Bones
Oh, so you have an SUV and a car?
Abby
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Nice. You still have both of them?
Abby
Yeah, I do, but I chose to go with the one that would probably be better.
Bobby Bones
And why do you have two cars?
Abby
Because I wouldn't get much for my old car. And then when my mom comes to town, she drives it, and it's an extra. If I get a flat tire, I can just drive that one.
Bobby Bones
Just leave it and go to the next one.
Abby
Yeah. No excuses.
Bobby Bones
Does your mom come to town enough?
Abby
Like, two or three times a year? I would say. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Not that.
Abby
I mean, yeah, so not that much.
Bobby Bones
You made it sound like she was here every other week or something. Oh, no, I was worried about you because I thought you may be driving your car. How was it?
Abby
It was fine. Yeah. It was highway, so they had, like, one lane that everybody was driving in that was clear, so everybody just stayed in that one lane.
Bobby Bones
Morgan, you have a Jeep. All good?
Morgan
Yeah, it was all good. I was more concerned about my vertigo mixed with the snow, so I managed.
Bobby Bones
Morgan was walking in, like, almost leaning into a wall. Cause I was turning the corner when she was coming in, and I was like, you all right? She was like, I'll manage. Driving in on. I mean, the snow again wasn't bad, but driving at all with even a mild case of vertigo. I don't even know what vertigo is other than what we've talked about. So I don't know how that affects you. But you feel like you're okay?
Morgan
Yeah, I mean, I'm managing. Listen, I learned. I got my official diagnosis that I have bppv and this isn't going. So I am gonna have to learn to be able to handle it.
Bobby Bones
I text Mike way early. I was like, what's up? Can we come in?
Amy
He's like, yeah, roads are fine.
Bobby Bones
The weird thing is Scuba has the biggest truck of anyone on the show, right? Like, he has a monster truck. And he's like, I can't drive in. Now, he does live out a little further. But why have a monster truck if you can't drive in snow?
Eddie
I feel like he would be the one that would have no problem coming in.
Bobby Bones
I feel like with that truck, he's the one that calls everybody and goes, if you can't get out, I will pick you up. It is a monster. It's a jacked up, big wheeled. I don't even know Big blue. Is it a Ford Toyota? Yeah, that's how much I know about trucks. And so he was like, ah, it's pretty rough. Can't come in. And I was like, it probably is rougher where he lives. But also, don't you calendar that with the biggest truck on the planet? And so what I'm thinking is a lot of people say that guys with really big trucks are compensating for something and they make the joke, well, he must have a small penis if he's driving a big truck. I don't think that's the case with Scuba.
Lunchbox
It was just a wimp.
Bobby Bones
No, I think he's compensating for his bald head.
Eddie
No hair. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
And he's from Florida, so he's never been around snow. Although we're not snow people either. Yeah, Morgan probably a little more Abby. Ray for sure grew up in Michigan, had snow. But is it kind of funny that Scuba has the biggest truck and is the one that it's like, I can't come in? Amy.
Lunchbox
Yeah, that is weird. That's why I was thinking he was a wimp. Yeah, like he's got this big truck, but, like, is he scared? Like what?
Bobby Bones
Well, we talked to him, but he's not here. And I don't want anybody driving when it's not safe. But I was just thinking, I mean, I drove the Hyundai in no issue at all. And so, yeah, everybody's here, Everybody's good.
Eddie
I mean, what does Mike have? You have a car, right?
Bobby Bones
I have a Subaru.
Eddie
Okay.
Lunchbox
But Subarus, those are outdoor Z cars.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. And again, it's not a comparison of everybody's car, big truck. But his thing is I live out in the sticks. I've been to Scuba's house. I mean, it's not that. I mean, it's out there.
Amy
Okay.
Eddie
I've never been out there where it's.
Bobby Bones
They're probably not salting things like crazy.
Lunchbox
Oh, that's true.
Bobby Bones
Maybe even. No, but when you have a truck that big, it doesn't matter.
Amy
Like, two lane roads.
Ray
He's got some big hills out there.
Lunchbox
I saw a truck spun around even.
Bobby Bones
When it wasn't salt. And they hit us last time, Eddie's Jeep was like, drove right up. As long as you drive slow, it doesn't matter.
Eddie
That's it.
Bobby Bones
You have a truck that big. That's why you have a truck that big.
Lunchbox
Okay, so I think we figured out he's sort of a wimp or from Florida or does it compensate? Okay. Yes. So he's just nervous.
Bobby Bones
Yes, But I think you don't get unnervous until you get out in it.
Lunchbox
Right?
Bobby Bones
Like, you gotta.
Lunchbox
Like, you just gotta go.
Bobby Bones
You gotta attack it.
Lunchbox
That's what I had to do.
Bobby Bones
There you go. Amy drives to work whenever her windshield's not even defrosted with just a tiny little hole in it.
Lunchbox
Oh, I don't like it, but I did it.
Bobby Bones
Not this morning, though.
Lunchbox
No, I. No, I have a garage now. That was back when I didn't have a garage.
Bobby Bones
Ray, I saw your hotel last night.
Scuba
Yeah, it was awesome.
Bobby Bones
What the heck?
Scuba
It was a penthouse.
Bobby Bones
Did you guys see Ray's hotel room on his Instagram story? I thought he was doing a bit. Like he had walked somewhere that really wasn't his hotel because it was like, here's the pool.
Scuba
Like, that's what it's all about, baby.
Bobby Bones
Like you had your own thing.
Scuba
Well, it was a community area that I filmed from.
Bobby Bones
Oh, it looked like it was the room. But you had a penthouse.
Scuba
The room was right there.
Lunchbox
Bobby, that's not the room.
Bobby Bones
I thought that was the room.
Eddie
What is it, the lobby?
Bobby Bones
There's a huge pool.
Lunchbox
It's the serious part, where there's a pool and a cabana and like a couch.
Scuba
I was trying to get that fire pit started.
Amy
Well, when Ray's like, I have the.
Bobby Bones
Penthouse that looks like a massive penthouse of like you're in Vegas or something. And they put their own little pool up there.
Lunchbox
I can't believe what he says. Ollie is. By penthouse he means he's at the top where they have the pool.
Bobby Bones
But did you have a penthouse suite?
Scuba
No, it was a studio.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my God. I got. See, I got.
Amy
Got a studio suite. I got. Got.
Lunchbox
No, no, no, no, no.
Bobby Bones
What hotel did you stay in?
Scuba
It was this building.
Eddie
What?
Bobby Bones
Oh, so you stayed here?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
You can stay here in a hotel, apparently. Amy.
Lunchbox
Well, you want me to say.
Bobby Bones
Are we saying no, not the name of the building, but how can you stay here?
Lunchbox
Oh, because our.
Bobby Bones
Well, people can. People know where our building is?
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah. So our boss has some places here, I guess.
Eddie
What on earth?
Ray
Places?
Lunchbox
I don't know. Maybe one or two.
Bobby Bones
Like the company has them.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Or she, you know. Cause, like, they're back and forth between New York and here and they.
Bobby Bones
Oh, she just let Ray stay at her place.
Lunchbox
Apparently. That's what he said.
Amy
See?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, that's the thing.
Scuba
I was trying to figure that out. I don't believe she stays there. I think it's just a generic one for when people Come to town.
Lunchbox
I know that's for sure. One that she stays in.
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Lunchbox
She doesn't. She's not gonna spend money on a hotel.
Bobby Bones
But I would think, though, that the company probably has one as well. Okay, well, I don't know that for sure, but if so, why am I not going to take a nap there sometimes when I'm up here all day?
Eddie
Right.
Lunchbox
Right.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Scuba
There were books and board games. I was just curious if any of those were hers.
Bobby Bones
Wait, you just said there was nothing in there. Were there pictures?
Scuba
There was, but maybe it's just generic stuff they have. There was no pictures. There was Nashville type stuff that just anybody could have put up. It's not necessarily. She put it up as a way to make it her own.
Bobby Bones
She's here enough.
Lunchbox
Like, why. Why don't we all stay there together? Like a slumber party?
Bobby Bones
We're not doing that.
Lunchbox
It would be fun.
Eddie
We all have houses here.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, close enough. Like, if we wanted a slumber party, we just do it anyway. We wouldn't stay here. We just go to somebody's house.
Lunchbox
Y'all don't ever want to do anything I suggest?
Bobby Bones
No, most of the stuff you suggest is, like, let's all go and spend a bunch of time together outside of the show. And we're like. We spend time together all day.
Lunchbox
Team building.
Eddie
Can you imagine me telling my wife, like, hey, we're gonna have a slumber party. It's for work.
Bobby Bones
I don't know.
Eddie
Me and the girls, lunchbox people.
Lunchbox
Okay, fine. We don't even have a slumber party in the studio apartment thingy. But, like, people that work together closely do team building.
Amy
Things familiar.
Bobby Bones
We've been team built. We've been together for 20 years.
Eddie
Yeah, but there's different.
Bobby Bones
Foundation has been built. We are good people.
Lunchbox
You think continued building is necessary?
Eddie
That's true. We should go bullying or something.
Lunchbox
Continued education.
Bobby Bones
I'm good people.
Lunchbox
Continue. Continued care. Continued.
Bobby Bones
I'm pretty set.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I mean, we used to go on vacations together. I'm good.
Lunchbox
I know, but those were the days. We don't do anything like that anymore.
Bobby Bones
Well. Cause now we have families and kids.
Lunchbox
So we don't have to leave. Like Eddie said. We just go bowling or something.
Eddie
There's a cool mini golf place, like, right down the street.
Bobby Bones
I don't want to play mini golf. Regardless. Or bowling. It's too. It's gross.
Lunchbox
Somebody I know. I was driving. I don't touch people's stuff out of the building. Yesterday, and I saw somebody that I know and he was walking by and around. I was like, hey, what are you doing over here? He's like, what are you doing? I was like, I work up here. He's like, oh, we have a work thing at Penn's mechanical team building.
Bobby Bones
But probably people who don't work together and haven't worked together for a long time that work in a company. Right? Like, we don't go team building with the rest of our company that works here.
Lunchbox
I know. I'm just. Just giving an example.
Eddie
No, maybe that's it.
Bobby Bones
I know. I think she just wants people to hang out with.
Lunchbox
No, I think that it just. It could help. But what do I know?
Eddie
Like, when I worked for the News, we went hiking. Like, all the hikes. Like, me and, like, five other people and our big boss. We went hiking.
Lunchbox
Yeah. Was that cool?
Eddie
Yeah. And then when we got to the top, it was like a little granite rock or something. Is. It's Enchanted rock.
Lunchbox
Oh, in Texas.
Eddie
Yeah, in Texas. And we sat at the top, and he's like, all right, now that we're up here, let's talk about what we can do for the company. Like, what? Everybody go around, like, a little pow wow up there.
Lunchbox
That's what I'm talking about.
Bobby Bones
We powwow for five hours a day right here in this room. We powwow hard. And we've powwowed for years. We've been together forever. I'm good. Every once in a while, I'll pill off with somebody one on one. Unless we're gambling. Now, if we go and, like, gamble on mini golf or, like, it's fun, it's content, I'd be in to do that. We've tried that. Eddie gets hurt every time we try.
Eddie
To do something like once a year.
Bobby Bones
Like Olympics, he got hurt. Remember that? They were going to put together the thing here on the ground.
Eddie
No, I'm ready to go.
Bobby Bones
I'm ready to go just now. But you got hurt, so we had to postpone it for, like, two months.
Eddie
Correct. What else do we have to postpone? We postponed something when I broke my foot. Was it the Olympics?
Bobby Bones
All right, we're here. Well, most of us are, except for the guy with the biggest truck. He's not here. Okay, let's get going. Thank you, guys. A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks for me. Love Starbucks. Love to get a chai tea. And if I'm ready, if I really need a big day, I'll get that double shot of espresso ready. To go. But the great thing now at Starbucks is, is that if you go and you decide you want to hang out in Starbucks for a little bit, they're now doing ceramics, like glassware. So if you're going to go, you're going to meet a friend and you order a drink and you say, I want it here, you're going to get it in a mug or a glass. There's also a condiment bar. It's back. Now you can add the finishing touches to your drink so you don't have to go, well, I need a little more of this. I need a little less of this. You can do the perfect amount of cream and sugar. You now have even more reasons to stay a while at Starbucks. So you go to Starbucks anyway. Next time, stay a while. At your next Starbucks visit, you know, you'll find all sorts of stats about how certain big life choices can cause anxiety. Moving is one, that's a big one. Changing jobs, that's another big one. Buying a new car, that's a big one. You know, you want to make the right choice. You want to get a good deal. You want to not feel pressured into buying something that you don't really want or you don't really need. Well, thanks to technology that we all have at our fingertips anyway, car buying has changed forever because you can actually pick out and purchase a brand new Hyundai on Amazon. Yes. Amy
All right, to fall asleep in two minutes or less seems pretty impossible. Eddie, what do you have over there?
Eddie
So I saw on Instagram this guy named Bud Winter, he wrote a book called Relax and Win, and he promises this works on 95% of the people he does it with, that they will fall asleep in less than two minutes.
Amy
I struggle with sleeping, so walk me through what Bud says I need to do.
Eddie
Okay. You want the steps? Yeah, Here we go. Step one, relax your face.
Amy
Okay. It's so to think about it, to actually. Because that's easy to go. My face is always like, it's probably not. You probably got some tension in there. Okay, go ahead.
Eddie
It says, imagine a scanner going across your entire body. Start at the top. Relax every muscle in your face, including your tongue and your cheeks.
Amy
Okay.
Eddie
You doing all that?
Bobby Bones
I'm not going to do it now.
Amy
Oh, you're not going to fall asleep.
Eddie
The second step, to release the tension in your shoulders, arms, and hands. So I think you're going, like, top to bottom.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Eddie
Okay. Then slowly relax your chest and your stomach.
Amy
This is the whole thing just releasing all the way down to the feet?
Eddie
I think so.
Amy
And then we'll release your bladder.
Eddie
There's a little surprise at the end.
Amy
Oh, is that the bladder release?
Eddie
Then poop.
Amy
What's. What's the surprise?
Eddie
Then it says, starting with your right thigh, relaxing your legs, just as you did with your arms. And then your entire body is relieved of all its tension. Now it's time to do the same with your mind. You imagine yourself in a dark, dark room. If you struggle with this, count your breaths in and out, and it says at that point, two minutes, you're gone.
Amy
Okay, so that doesn't work for me. I already do the thing where I try to allow every part of my body to go to sleep. This is a tactic I think I learned from, like, a Navy SEAL when I was reading, like, an article that they wrote on how they would try to get sleep really quickly in situations where they didn't get much sleep for multiple days at a time. Time, where it's like, okay, I'm thinking of my toes. Make my toes go to sleep. And I work all the way up. And mostly it's to keep your mind off of why you're not going to sleep. It's just so you're focusing on, one, your body relaxing, but two, you're just focusing on something that isn't keeping your mind running. And then I do lists. Do a lot of lists.
Lunchbox
So, like, in your head or.
Amy
Yeah.
Lunchbox
Okay.
Amy
Yeah. Now I can't write it down because if I sit up and start writing.
Eddie
Stuff down, you turn a light on.
Lunchbox
Well, sometimes they say do like a brain dump before you go to sleep and write it all down. Get it out by your bedside table, and then that way you leave it there.
Amy
Yeah, I'd be dumping for days. I don't think it would stop. So I'll do lists of, like, my top 10 razorback running backs of all time. Best Chicago cups you can think of.
Lunchbox
10.
Amy
Oh, yeah.
Lunchbox
Top 10 best.
Amy
Yeah. And if I get all the way to 10 and I have to start over, I know I'm not going to sleep anytime soon, but I'll. That's counting sheep. It's just basically counting sheep. That's where that comes from, too. So I would say for people that don't struggle with this, I do. I think my anxiety, whatever that is, comes out at night when I'm trying to sleep because I start to get anxious at first. Am I going to get enough sleep? And then I start to get anxious about me getting anxious about me not getting enough sleep.
Lunchbox
And then it's a cycle.
Amy
It's a cycle. Yeah.
Eddie
Stressful.
Amy
But I go all the way up. And then I do lists. And then I still. If I wake up, I wake up in the middle of night every night, 12:30, 1:00. Four nights out of five work nights, I wake up for at least an hour, hour and a half. There's that one night that I can fall back asleep. So I will lay for a minute and just try to like. Like stay. Stay. Eyes closed.
Lunchbox
That feels like you're tensing up again.
Amy
I know.
Lunchbox
Like we just. You relax.
Bobby Bones
I know.
Lunchbox
At all.
Amy
But then I'm like, screw it, I gotta get up now. I gotta go eat cereal. The problem now is I can't drink milk, so I have to use milk. It's terrible.
Eddie
Malk.
Amy
Whatever.
Eddie
You mispronounce that.
Amy
No, it's M A. Okay. It's stupid. It doesn't take. And I don't even drink the malk anymore.
Lunchbox
So what do you do?
Amy
Eat the cereal with it in the bowl. And then I pour the milk out. I don't know, it's too watery. Like it works for cereal, barely. And then I'll go back and I read a little bit of a book. It's an hour and a half every night. And then I don't even remember getting. Falling asleep. Then I just wake up like an hour and a half later and it's time to go to work. That's four nights out of five, man. If I wake up and it's like 3:30 in the morning, it's New Year's Eve, it's prom, it's like, oh my God, this is the greatest thing ever. Like I just got six and a half hours sleep, seven hours sleep. Because mostly it's 12:31 o'clock and I wake up like this.
Lunchbox
I know. And you went and did the whole sleep study thing and there's still nothing.
Amy
Yeah, it's. It's. It's how anxiety comes out of me, is when I sleep, when everything slows down. Because I did the sleep study and I had the mask and all that. But then when we were going on vacation, my wife got sick. We weren't able to go. I could do nothing.
Bobby Bones
We were.
Amy
We were at home and she was sick and. And I couldn't work because everybody was gone. I slept like 10 hours a night every night, all the way through because there was nothing for me to even be concerned about. So it's, it's, it's Nero for sure. It's in the old head space here. Eddie, thanks for the news. We already knew though. But we liked it.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
It's crazy.
Amy
Maybe some people didn't know.
Eddie
Right. And it's crazy that you have a hard time doing this, but with Lunchbox, you can fall asleep in like 30 seconds.
Amy
He fell asleep during the bit not even trying. He just.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Amy
Bones. The anonymous in box. Anonymous in box.
Bobby Bones
There's a question to be had. Send it into the.
Amy
Hello, Bobby Bones. Last night I went to a self serve frozen yogurt place where I did everything myself. I poured the yogurt, I added toppings.
Bobby Bones
I paid at a kiosk.
Amy
There was one employee behind the counter who just stared at their phone the whole time. But there was still a big tip jar by the register. When I didn't put anything in it, they gave me the side eye. My initial reaction was to feel guilty, but then it occurred to me they didn't do anything to deserve a tip.
Bobby Bones
Now I'm wondering if I was wrong.
Amy
For skipping the tip. Signed tip stiffer. I know you're not wrong at all.
Bobby Bones
That is a.
Amy
If you'd like to. Also, I'd like to say this. You could be interpreting a side eye when it really wasn't even a side eye. You probably had a little guilt regardless if it was right or wrong. Therefore, any movement that she did, and if she was a teenager, she probably was looking at her phone. Anyway, you probably interpreted that as side eye. I can't imagine somebody that wants a tip giving you a mean look when they didn't get one. Because who knows, you may come back and be tipping again. Also, teenagers are idiots. A lot of places to ask for tips. It is not a tip required situation. If you eat at a restaurant and the server is doing their thing, you should tip. If you go to a self serve frozen yogurt place and there's a tip jar and the holy spirit's in you, you want to give a couple bucks, good for you. But there are certain places where they're just putting that there if you're feeling extra generous. And there are certain places where they put a tip jar where I bet their boss doesn't even know they've put a tip jar.
Lunchbox
Oh, really?
Amy
Oh, of course. Yeah. They just kind of snuck one out there.
Lunchbox
They get there and lay it out.
Amy
Absolutely. So feel no guilt about this, but I think what's even larger than this is a lot of times we interpret other people's actions as something it's probably not because of a feeling we have ourself. So I bet they didn't side eye ya. And also you didn't have to tiptoe. And the people that cry about tip culture, for the most part are crying about not so much tip culture, but the culture of, hey, if you do have a couple extra bucks, I'd like to take it. Culture, not so much. You have to tip culture.
Lunchbox
Yeah, you definitely didn't do anything wrong.
Amy
Release this and release the idea that we're looking at you side eye. Yeah, I do that all the time where I think people are acting a certain way and really they're not even thinking about me. They have something else going on.
Bobby Bones
There you go.
Amy
Close it up, Bones. I'll play a sound. Tell me the company number one example. What is it?
Lunchbox
Netflix?
Amy
Yeah.
Ray
Oh, good.
Amy
It's weird because you hear these all the time, but then when you're like, you're under the gun, there's pressure.
Bobby Bones
So we'll go until you miss.
Amy
Amy. Lunchbox Eddie. It's Survivor style. Number one. We'll give you two listens. Two listens only. Here it is again. What company is that?
Eddie
I'm in.
Ray
I'm in for the win.
Lunchbox
Amy McDonald's watchbox.
Bobby Bones
McDonald's, Eddie McDonald's.
Amy
That's correct. Number two. Pizza. Pizza, pizza, pizza.
Eddie
In.
Ray
In for the win.
Amy
Confidence. I like it.
Lunchbox
Amy, Little Caesars.
Amy
Lunchbox. Little Caesars, Eddie.
Eddie
Little Caesars.
Bobby Bones
Boom.
Amy
Correct. Correct. Number three.
Lunchbox
Amen.
Eddie
Yeah, I'm in.
Amy
Are you struggling with that one? Lunchbox?
Ray
Well, there, it's an insurance, but there's so many insurance commercials that I'm not.
Amy
What do you sing along with that in your head?
Ray
I say like a good neighbor. So I'm going with State Farm. But I, I. It could be the one with the bald guy.
Amy
What.
Bobby Bones
What is your guess?
Ray
State Farm, Amy.
Lunchbox
State Farm, Eddie.
Eddie
That's State Farm.
Amy
I guess I try to sing along with them and I go like a good neighbor. State Farm. Okay, next. Oh, boy, could we lose our first player again.
Eddie
Guess. I'm in.
Ray
I'm in for the win.
Amy
No confidence.
Eddie
Not really.
Amy
Go first.
Eddie
Taco Bell.
Amy
Lunchbox.
Ray
I mean, it's a bell, so it's got to be Taco Bell.
Bobby Bones
Amy.
Lunchbox
Taco Bell.
Amy
Correct.
Bobby Bones
They get a little harder.
Amy
Now number five, you're gonna know the sound, but you may struggle placing it.
Lunchbox
I'm in.
Eddie
Wow.
Amy
Does that sound familiar to everybody?
Eddie
Oh, yeah.
Amy
Okay. Cuz I struggle with this one. When I was doing the little home version.
Eddie
I'm in.
Bobby Bones
I talked over. I said, give me one more.
Ray
Thank you. Oh, man, that's tough, man. All right, sure.
Amy
I'm in. Lunchbox.
Ray
THX at the movie theater.
Bobby Bones
What?
Ray
That? THX at the movie theater.
Bobby Bones
Thx.
Amy
Got it.
Ray
I have no idea what that is.
Amy
Amy.
Lunchbox
IBM.
Amy
Eddie.
Eddie
I have Microsoft.
Amy
You're all wrong. What was it?
Lunchbox
Intel.
Amy
It's Intel.
Lunchbox
Is IBM and Intel same thing?
Amy
No, I would bet not.
Ray
No, I would say one's intel and one's IBM.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I would bet not.
Lunchbox
I know. I thought, you know, they're two different.
Amy
Two different companies. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
All right, next up, everybody's still back in.
Amy
Go ahead.
Eddie
Oh, I'm in.
Ray
I'm in for the win.
Lunchbox
I'm in.
Amy
Lunchbox.
Ray
NBC.
Amy
Amy.
Lunchbox
NBC.
Amy
Eddie.
Eddie
NBC.
Amy
Correct. Next.
Eddie
I like that one.
Amy
What?
Ray
Okay, that's a movie theater one.
Eddie
I'm in thx.
Lunchbox
I'm in.
Amy
Lunchbox. Paramount. That's incorrect. Amy.
Lunchbox
Disney.
Amy
Eddie.
Eddie
That's Disney.
Amy
Correct. Two remain. Next one.
Lunchbox
Men.
Eddie
Can we hear it again?
Amy
Yeah.
Eddie
I'm in.
Amy
Amy.
Lunchbox
Popeyes.
Amy
Eddie.
Eddie
We just had a New Orleans Popeyes.
Amy
So we were told to go to the original Popeyes. I wasn't feeling good because obviously it's in the bad and whatever. And so Eddie goes. I went. It was the same as the other ones.
Eddie
It's exactly like Nashville.
Amy
Yeah. But the guy was like, it's the first one. He's like, it's different.
Lunchbox
What's different about it?
Amy
That's the first one. And he said they cook the food different. They do it a bit different because that's where it all started.
Lunchbox
Huh?
Amy
And so Eddie goes and goes. It wasn't different.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I don't think it's different.
Amy
Yeah, it would make sense if it were different, since it's the first one.
Eddie
But it was.
Amy
But it wasn't. Yeah. All right, next up.
Eddie
Oh, my goodness.
Amy
One more time. Sound familiar at all?
Eddie
Yes, I've heard it.
Amy
Yes, you both heard it in an answer.
Bobby Bones
Amy.
Amy
Xr, Eddie.
Eddie
Oh, no. She might have gotten it. Prime video.
Amy
No, it's YouTube. It's before the video starts. Oh, now, before the video starts. All right, so we're gonna do buzz in. We only have two left, so you have to buzz in. Okay. You buzz in. You get it right, you win. Go ahead.
Lunchbox
Amy.
Amy
Amy. Incorrect.
Lunchbox
I don't know.
Amy
You can hear it again.
Eddie
Max.
Amy
No.
Bobby Bones
Hulu God.
Amy
Really close.
Lunchbox
Yep.
Bobby Bones
And this is the final one.
Amy
Go ahead, Amy.
Lunchbox
IBM.
Amy
Incorrect.
Eddie
Eddie, go ahead. @&t. Dang it.
Bobby Bones
You weren't in a rush.
Amy
You could have sat and listened. I don't know.
Eddie
It.
Amy
It's Duracell.
Lunchbox
Oh, Duras.
Eddie
Of course. The battery breaks.
Amy
The Copper Top battery drum beat. I don't think either one of you guys that correctly. It's not Duras. That's not it.
Eddie
Duras.
Amy
They don't. They never sing Duraso. They never sing Durasa. I think we just have a tie.
Lunchbox
No, that's okay.
Eddie
No, it's not okay.
Lunchbox
It's fine. Where's Pixar?
Amy
It's not in there on the list.
Bobby Bones
We used it a time. A lot of my friends, they can't even get their day going without stopping by Starbucks for me. Love Starbucks. Love to get a chai tea. And if I'm ready, if I really need a big day, I'll get that double shot of espresso ready to go. But the great thing now at Starbucks is, is that if you go and you decide you want to hang out in Starbucks for a little bit, they're now doing ceramics, like glassware. So if you're gonna go, you're gonna meet a friend and you order a drink and you say, I want it here. You're gonna get it in a mug or a glass. Next time, stay a while at your next Starbucks visit, you know, you'll find all sorts of stats about how certain big life choices can cause anxiety. Moving is one, that's a big one. Changing jobs, that's another big one. Buying a new car, that's a big one. You know you want to make the right choice. You want to get a good deal. You want to not feel pressured into buying something that you don't really want or you don't really need. Well, thanks to technology that we all have at our fingertips anyway, car buying has changed forever because you can actually pick out and purchase a brand new Hyundai on Amazon. Yes, the same place that you buy your yoga mats or your toothbrush or placement phone charger. You know, pretty much anything else right there from your phone or your computer. Hyundai has completely streamlined the entire process to make it as hassle free as possible. It doesn't take too much time and you can do most of it from the comfort of your own home or wherever you may be. First, check out the Hyundai showroom on Amazon and pick the model you want from your local dealer. You can filter by color and trim, basically customize it so you can get a car with the look and the features that make it perfect for you. You will also see this is very important, transparent pricing up front so there are no surprises with last minute fees or add ons. Run credit, secure your financing, even sign most of your paperwork right there online. At that point you just head to your Hyundai dealer to finalize the details and pick up the car. You know Amazon is super easy. Use it all the time. I have a Hyundai. I love it. One of my favorite things ever. It's like the combination. It's like the perfect combination of two of my favorite things. Visit HyundaiUSA.com or call 562-314-4603 for more details. Limited availability only through participating Hyundai dealers in select markets. This program is available for purchases of new vehicles and not currently available for leases or trade ins. Amy
It's time for the good news with Bobby. It's got Chris was in Lubbock and he lost his wallet. And so he was driving from Lubbock to College Station and he couldn't find it. So he calls his dad. And so he was like, all right, I'll go retrace your steps. So they're about to call and cancel the cards, which is always so annoying. I think I've called and canceled my cards more times when I haven't lost my wallet because I'm afraid I've lost my wallet.
Bobby Bones
But then I found my wallet.
Amy
Yeah, and that might be a bit more annoying, but they go and they find the wallet placed on the hood of the car in the dad's driveway. Now, that's not where he lost it, but that was the address on the driver's license from the guy who found it. So he went, took the wallet, drove it to the dad's house where the kid used to live, left it on the car, and then they went to the door cam. And the guy goes up to the door cam when he. Nobody was there and explains how he found the wallet. He's like, yeah, I found the wallet. Just going to let you know, I'm going to leave it on the car.
Bobby Bones
I don't know whose it is.
Amy
It says, you know, Christopher Null. And he did, and he left it there. And so not only they have the wallet, they did not have to cancel the cards. Thank God. That's so annoying. And then they have the guy on the door cam going, hey, I found it. His name was Clinton Arthur.
Lunchbox
That's awesome. See, then I would worry, oh, gosh, are they going to get in the car and drive off and then the wallet's going to be in the middle of the road because they're not going to see it.
Amy
Oh, if you had left the wallet.
Lunchbox
Yeah, yeah. Like, I would have to be like, arrows and paper and being like, here's your wallet right here.
Amy
I think I would take the wallet if it's a fold and put it under the windshield wiper.
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah.
Amy
That way, drive.
Bobby Bones
It's not going to go anywhere. Yeah, yeah.
Amy
That's a good story, though. That guy did not have to do that. But he probably knows what it's like to lose his wallet, have to cancel his cards again. That's the most annoying thing.
Bobby Bones
That's from kcbd.
Amy
That is what it's all about. That was. Tell me something good. All right, let's do state news. We'll go to Michigan first. A Michigan judge is putting sponges in the hands of shoplifters, ordering them to wash cars in the Walmart parking lot whenever the people go inside to buy their stuff. I guess my problem with it, which I don't have a problem with, I think it's great. But if it turns out they didn't shoplift, like, you better have it. Otherwise, they're shamed and they're like, I don't even do it. And now I proved I didn't do it.
Lunchbox
It's outside of the box, though.
Amy
I don't think you're really allowed to punish by public shaming anymore by the court system.
Lunchbox
No, but I Think like having to work towards something like that is okay. Like the washing of the cars. I like that. I feel like I do too. But shame. Shame is like standing on the side of the road with a. That says, I'm a loser. I steal.
Amy
Why not put them in the pillory? You put your head and your arms to it. Lock them in the center of the town. Yeah, we'll go to Arizona for this one.
Bobby Bones
A new bill introduced in the legislator.
Amy
Would make howdy Arizona's state greeting. What's weird is I don't think of people from Arizona saying howdy. No.
Lunchbox
I think of people at Texas A and M saying howdy.
Amy
Oh, that's right. You want to see them. I do think of Texas, but I guess you're right. I would boil it down to Texas A and M if I really had to. So, yeah, howdy doesn't feel Arizona high or hola.
Eddie
Right. I mean, a lot of Hispanics.
Amy
Yeah. They want to make howdy the official greeting of Arizona, which feels weird, but even some of the people there are like, ah, I don't think it really matches the character of our state.
Lunchbox
Yeah. I wonder what is behind that.
Bobby Bones
Let's see.
Amy
If it were Arkansas in my state, I think it would be aye.
Bobby Bones
If we had to have an official greeting of our state.
Lunchbox
Hi.
Amy
All right.
Bobby Bones
Yours can be howdy, Morgan.
Amy
You're from Kansas.
Morgan
Oh, I feel like ours would be oh. We say oh a lot. Oh, that's just part of our like.
Lunchbox
Like, like a whoopsie.
Morgan
Yeah, like you may greet somebody. Just be like, oh, there you are.
Lunchbox
Oh, hi.
Morgan
Like, oh. Is a very midwestern thing.
Lunchbox
Huh?
Morgan
Oh, O, P, E, E O P, E, O. Yeah.
Amy
I, I've never said oat before. Do you feel like Kansas is. Is Midwest?
Morgan
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Amy
I feel like Minnesota, Michigan. Because they talk different with an accent. I feel like Kansas has no accent.
Morgan
Yeah, but Kansas is in the middle of our United States. It has to be the Midwest.
Amy
I. Geographically, I agree.
Lunchbox
Wouldn't it be because.
Amy
But Texas is not the south. And it's. It's geographically the South.
Eddie
Very south.
Lunchbox
If it's in the middle, does it just make it mid?
Amy
It's a straight mid. Kansas, mid in every way.
Lunchbox
It'd have to be to the west to be Midwest.
Bobby Bones
Hey, Ray, you're Midwest.
Amy
How would you guys in Michigan say hello if you had a, like a real one.
Scuba
A that work. That works for a lot of things to answer questions.
Amy
Also when you greet somebody. Hey, but Kansas is Midwest. It's west of Arkansas. It's west of the Mississippi River.
Lunchbox
Yeah. I didn't know. She just said it's literally in the middle.
Amy
Oh, got it.
Lunchbox
I don't know. So I just thought. And you were arguing that it wasn't Midwest, so.
Amy
Well, could it be by definition, Midwest? It definitely has a different feel to it. Cheese curds.
Bobby Bones
A.
Amy
A bit Canadian feeling.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Scuba.
Amy
What's the Florida one? I think for us, it's yo.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Eddie
Okay. Not everyone.
Lunchbox
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
Eddie
If you go further north Florida, it's y'all like, yo, yo, yo.
Amy
So Florida changes from yo to y'all. Yeah, exactly. The further it gets from the ocean.
Lunchbox
Yeah, exactly.
Unknown
It gets north.
Eddie
Yeah. Once you get past Orlando, it becomes country.
Amy
It's north Florida.
Eddie
But then South Florida, a little more cultured Latino community, hip hop. Yeah. Guys like me, hey, yo, yo. But north Florida is more like, hey, y'all.
Amy
That's interesting.
Lunchbox
So you get closer to Georgia and you become y'all, y'all.
Eddie
Yep.
Amy
I think we've hit all the states here on our show.
Eddie
Yeah, we're covered.
Amy
Any more states? Texas is.
Bobby Bones
Would you say howdy, though?
Eddie
No, I've never said that.
Lunchbox
Hey, y'all.
Amy
Texas a y'all state, though.
Lunchbox
Yes.
Amy
I don't feel like Texas is a y'all.
Lunchbox
Texas is a y'all.
Amy
100 cowboys don't say y'all.
Lunchbox
Yeah, they do.
Amy
He'll probably say y'all.
Lunchbox
I say he. Yee haw, y'all.
Amy
Okay, well, Arizona. We vote for no Howdy for Arizona.
Bobby Bones
That doesn't.
Amy
That doesn't fit, Bones. I saw this on Aldean's Instagram story. He had posted it. What artist made you fall in love with country music? I mean, I felt like I know yours.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Amy
Yours has got to be George Straight.
Lunchbox
Yes, you would be correct.
Amy
Okay. And how. So what's your earliest George Straight memory?
Lunchbox
Probably my uncle working for him, like, as a kid, and my dad always listening to George Strait and me finding out, oh, that's where Uncle Ted works.
Amy
That's very personal. That's a good memory.
Lunchbox
Yes.
Amy
So.
Lunchbox
And he was in South Texas, and I just felt like we listened to. I mean, my earliest. Earliest memory is my dad and mom being at home, which I have very few memories of my dad living with us because he left when I was, like, nine. But they would listen to a lot of Kenny Rogers. So I. I hear that over the speakers in my living room. But if I had to say for me how I fell in love with it, it was Amarillo by morning two Stepping with my dad. Like, I would stand on top of his feet and he would dance around the living room. And that's probably my earliest memory. And we just love George Strait. And then we would. He was probably one of my first concerts. Amy Grant was my first. First. But Geor. Probably a second.
Amy
So my grandma, when she would teach me how to play cards, AKA Gamble, because I started learning how to play cards at five years old, like gambling. She had a record player and it was like two records. It was a Johnny Cash gospel album, I guess three. She had an Andy Griffiths gospel album, too, but I don't know if that's country. Although Johnny Cash.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Amy
But then she had Ray Charles. Modern Sounds of Country Music. So we listened to that. That's what I remember listening to as a kid. Kid. When I didn't get to choose, like, I thought that was what current country music was. But when I got to choose, it was the first time I heard Don't Take the Girl, I was like, this is the craziest song I've ever heard.
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah.
Amy
I was like, this is the deepest song. I'll never be the same after I hear Don't Take the girl.
Lunchbox
Was that 94, 1994, maybe.
Amy
Maybe 92. I'm bad on years. Could have been. But I remember listening to the radio kiss in 96, and don't take the Girl came on at night and I was like, oh, my God, I can't believe they told the whole story. Yeah, 94, you nailed it.
Lunchbox
Oh, really? Okay. See, well, I remember we used to have these dances, and when that song would come on, I feel like we'd all just gasp and be like, somebody gonna ask us to dance.
Amy
Oh, I feel like I just wanted.
Bobby Bones
Like, did she live?
Amy
Like, it's a whole story. It was the first time I'd been told a story in a song where I felt like I was. I was like, bonded to that story artist wise. It was definitely Garth Brooks just because. Yeah, he was a monster solid. Every song was just banger after banger. Never really, really saw him in concert, I guess, until met him.
Eddie
Yeah. Later in life.
Amy
Yeah, I never got to go to a concert, but it was Garth Brooks as far as the music part of it. But my grandma, way early, it was kind of forced upon me, which I appreciate now. But then when I got to pick, it was Don't Take the Girl on Garth Brooks.
Bobby Bones
Eddie, you.
Eddie
Same with me, man. 100. Garth Brooks. I mean it. I was such a fan. I was in the fan club and I remember asking My parents, like, can I please have this world tour Garth Brooks jacket. Never went to a show, but I want that jacket. And my dad sacrificed. He got me the jacket and I wore it everywhere I went. And it was shiny, it was cheesy looking, but I guess it was like the crew jacket, the ones that they would. The crew would wear on the tour.
Amy
How do you get it?
Eddie
You just bought it. It was online. Like, it was. Well, I guess it was.
Amy
It couldn't have been online.
Eddie
Yeah, I think they would send you, like, in the mail, a catalog or whatever. And that's all the stuff. All the stuff was in it. And I'll never forget it. Black sleeves, and it was green, was shiny, and it said Garth Brooks World Tour on it.
Amy
Did you ever have any of the Garth shirts?
Eddie
Oh, yeah.
Amy
The mo.
Eddie
Better shirts.
Amy
Well, yeah, all the colors.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Eddie
Yeah.
Amy
I was always jealous.
Eddie
I had the checkered one, the. The in pieces.
Amy
One on the front of the album. 1. Yeah, the picture on the front, right?
Eddie
Yes.
Amy
Dang, that was legit.
Eddie
Yeah.
Amy
Garth was awesome. He's not dead now, but I'm saying, like, we were kids, like, he was like a rock star for country music people. Well.
Eddie
And when that TV special came out, you know, where he broke the guitar and the fire. No, it was early, early on. And that was so big because it was like on CBS or something. It was on national television. And here was this cowboy, breaking guitars, fire behind him, and rain coming down as he sang Thunder Rolls. I'm like, it's just. This is amazing. Never seen anything like it.
Amy
Morgan, what about you?
Morgan
So my dad introduced me. Like, the first very vivid memory I have is Reba McIntyre. He would play her all the time. Fancy night that the lights went out in Georgia, and he would sing her. Our dog was named Reba.
Amy
Like, no way. He was such a fan. Your dog was named Reba?
Morgan
Yes. He was obsessed with Reba McIntyre. So she was my first introduction because of him. And then when I chose, it was Shania Twain. She was the first CD I bought. First concert they took me to. And then I think Reba was the second. So Reba and Shania were like my whole upbringing of country music.
Amy
What's the best Garth Brook song?
Lunchbox
Oh, I love the River. He has so many good ones.
Amy
I know.
