Hey, what up, y'? All? It's DJ Envy and I'm at the premiere of Stars new show, Fightland, executive produced by 50 Cent. Now fifth, tell us about Fightland.
50 Cent
I put my reputation on the line saying that you're going to enjoy this and appreciate it as much as you appreciated anything for me to this point.
DJ Envy
Now that sounds promising.
50 Cent
Fightland is the next level. I'm a huge boxing fan, so to bring this world to life in a new premium crime drama is special to me.
DJ Envy
You heard the man. Catch the new series fightland, kicking off July 31, only on Stars. Now let me go catch the premiere.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
I'm the home girl that knows a little Bit about everything and everybody.
50 Cent
You know, she don't lie about that.
Cabenuva Advertiser
Right. Lauren came in hot, so.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Hello, Mr. Knowles, thank you for joining me. How are you? I know today is a quite a busy music conversation day for you, as most days probably are, huh?
Mathew Knowles
Yeah, this is a good day. I'm here in Houston, Texas today and getting prepared for tomorrow's Destiny's Child iconic reimagined tribute.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
So let's talk a bit about. So, okay, wait. Before we get into Houston today, I know you come into New York City, Detroit, Chicago. There's a lot of places that you're bringing the Destiny Child reimagined tribute. But one of the things that you know is happening right now in real time is we just found out that in the next 30 days we'll be getting some new Destiny's Child music. I mean, new to us, old to you guys. We've never heard it before. Remixes, Correct, Correct.
Mathew Knowles
There'll be urban remixes and dance remixes. That's been in a vault for a long time that the ladies have approved. And you know, there's a whole strategy now for Destiny Shawl. We have obviously the tribute, but we have the music coming. We have also years of video footage that's never been seen before. We have a new website, DestinysChild.com we have new merchandise coming. The authentic merchandise is there's so many people bootlegging Destiny style merchandise and has been for years and we're going to crack down on that.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
I never realized until I heard you say it that there wasn't ever real merchandise because there's been so many different things that have been out there. Why did you guys never do merchandise for Destiny's Child? Because you guys capitalize like your business wise. That has always been across the board something to watch. When it came to Destiny's Child and all the work that you did, why not merchandise? I feel like that's like second nature normally for music artist.
Mathew Knowles
Yeah, well, we did it, you know, and I think I stopped doing merchandise around 2012, 2013, as I just got onto more projects and got just got busy and we just moved on to other things. As simple as that got you.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
So when you say that there's no official merchandise, There was never any official merchandise. You just mean like what does that mean then if there was somebody.
Mathew Knowles
I guess that means since 20, 2012, there hasn't been official official merchandise. I mean, I even saw the other day you can go to Amazon, there's like five or six companies selling Destiny Shaw merchandise. You can go to even Number of store, Walmart, even.com is selling. Yeah, but that's all unofficial merchandise. That's not official merchandise. Those companies don't have the right, the legal right to put out any Destiny Shaw merchandise.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Well, and I know you handle, I mean, still manager of Destiny's Child number one, but I also know you handle all of the licensing and stuff like that as well too. Right. Because you are owner of the brand.
Mathew Knowles
Like, do you, Yeah, I, I, yeah. On the trademark Destiny Shop, do you
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
then have conversations, like, once you drop your merchandise, are you also planning to have conversations with these other places to let them know, like, legally, like that can't happen? Like, will there be a stop put to, to those other places?
Mathew Knowles
A cease and desist? Yeah, my, my attorneys will deal with that.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Got you. Okay, I look, heard you, Mr. Nose. Okay, so, so another question on the music. And then I know we want to get into the tribute as well. How new is this? Like, I, when we spoke, you mentioned that you guys just started working on this project with the remixes as of what? When?
Mathew Knowles
Last week. As of last week. It's that new. It's just an idea that, that hit me that look, we're doing all of these things and we need to connect the dots. And I just moved. I have these storage facilities all over the country. I just consolidated the storage facilities and I said, look, we should now put out these remixes that we've had. We've had and we have new music that never been heard before on Kelly and Beyonce, on Michelle. Now that's different because they would have to approve that. But this needs a solo.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Like you have Destiny's Child stuff that you're going to release, but you have solo stuff from the girls too, that is separate that you're saying they would have to approve, Correct?
Cabenuva Advertiser
Yeah.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Wow. Wow. And then, so the Destiny's Child remixes, then I'm assuming they have approved. They're working with you on how it rolls out and all the things.
Mathew Knowles
They're not working with me on how it rolls out, but they've approved them.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Got you.
Mathew Knowles
They've been approved. Approved years ago.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
So then how do you A and R the projects then? Like, are you doing all that yourself too?
Mathew Knowles
I've always, always every. Destiny's Child and Beyonce's first albums, Solange's first two albums, Michelle's four albums and Kelly's first album, two albums. I anr.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Yeah, I think people, I think people forget just musically just the, the, the, the work that you put in kind of behind the scenes, not even just on the executive and business side of it, but from the actual creative side as well too. Which is why, you know, we see things be so great.
Mathew Knowles
Well, at some point, look at the credits on the writers of the song Survivor. You'll see B. Knowles M. Knowles a dent. Those are the three writers and I can list many other songs that you'll see Emma Knowles on as a writer.

DJ Envy
What up y'?
Charlamagne Tha God
All?
DJ Envy
It's DJ Envy. We're at the premiere of Fightland, executive produced by my guy, 50 Cent. Yeah, now listen, know you've done a lot on it over here. America decided to go to UK for this one.
50 Cent
Yeah, this one is different.
DJ Envy
So break it down for people that haven't seen it comes out the 31st. So tell us about Fightland.
50 Cent
Yeah, it's exciting. This one is a UK based show. I got Ottawa Bathurst to direct it. So the first two episodes he did really dope and then I got like the other guys that I got to do throughout the season. It's like top notch, bro. So you're gonna see this one's gonna feel like it's a grade better than what I did in Power.
DJ Envy
Really?
50 Cent
I promised that.
DJ Envy
Now for people that haven't seen it yet, it comes out July 31st. Fightland. How would you describe fighting?
50 Cent
I'd say it's a family crime drama.
DJ Envy
Okay.
50 Cent
Right. And it has an intensity and action that you would, you would, you would feel you received in the action film. And it does things that the other series don't do because we kind of jump timelines throughout the episodes and stuff like this. So you'll see things and go, oh, like things flashing back and things going to different, you know, backwards and forwards.
DJ Envy
I seen the first episode. I didn't see you in it. Are you in this season or are you at any season or. No, because usually we'll get a pop up for 50. A pop up here and there. Are you in Fightland at all?
50 Cent
No, I'm have to work on my British accent.
DJ Envy
Have you tried?
50 Cent
No, no, I did. Well, I would have to work on it to do it to get in
DJ Envy
this a little bit. What keeps you motivated to do it? You don't need the money. It's just like at this point, what is it for?
50 Cent
Nah, it's cool creatively, like. No, no project is great because of one person. It's a collective, you know, I mean. And what I get a chance to do is communicate what they feel to the network before it gets like it didn't. They start developing reputations of being difficult or doing things, but they're comfortable expressing how they feel to me, you know, now I'm at a stage where I can, you know, finance and license the project instead of giving it to the networks for them to own.
DJ Envy
Well, there you have it. Check it out. July 31st Fightland on Stars. This message is brought to you by Injectable Cabenuva Cabotegravir realpivirine.

Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Now let's talk about the. The reimagined tribute that you have. And I know that this. We're also celebrating 30. There's another anniversary, like parallel right now.
Mathew Knowles
The Survivor. Yeah, the Survivor song. Survivor. Yeah.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Yes. So the reimagined tour. I know you're in Houston right now.
Mathew Knowles
Tribute. It's a tribute. I use that word. I use that word. Tour the first time and I got. The fans went nuts. Yeah.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Because, you know, everybody's waiting on the things like, are we gonna get a tour or not?
Mathew Knowles
Well, I always say this. We. We know that it wouldn't be surprising if Beyonce comes out with a new album. We, we all know that.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
And hopefully she was working on new music.
Mathew Knowles
Yeah, that's. That's what I was saying. Yeah, it's. It's really no surprise. But the life cycle of that would be what a tour that she would do. You first you put out the album, then around 18 months, year and a half, you then start working on the tour and, you know, maybe three years from now or two and a half years from now, there'll be a tour that'll go on for two years. Michelle Williams just got off of Broadway on after 12 years and will be, I'm sure, announced soon on another project that she'll be doing on Broadway. Kelly, you know, is working on music and also working on film and tv. So you, you. That becomes very difficult. We know there's no way in the next five years there's going to be a Destiny style album because they're all working on projects.
Sephora/Target Advertiser
Right.
Mathew Knowles
And you know, who knows my what might happen then? But that's their decision to make. But most people don't understand the music industry and how the times and how the time lines are with putting out albums or being on Broadway. You don't just get off of Broadway because you want to do a Destiny style. And you don't just get off of the Beyonce tour because you want to do a Destiny style. So, you know, these things have to be timed out correctly.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
I got you. And then so your tribute that you have, the Destiny's Child reimagined tribute Duration, I mean, you mentioned to me about like three years. So there will be different iterations of this tribute. Talk to us a bit about that.
Mathew Knowles
It's. It's again, it's like a tour. We're calling it a tribute so that people don't get it confused that it's Destiny's Child, the members. But you. You always start in A routing. We say to A routing, you always start in the eight market cities, the largest cities, and then you go to the B markets, like a Charlotte, North Carolina, or a Cleveland, Ohio, and then you go to the C markets, like a Columbus, Ohio, or Birmingham, Alabama. And so you schedule those things and it's always pretty much they have been mapped out for years with cities that we go to. So we'll do Destiny's Child and then fourth, first quarter of next year, we'll begin on the Beyonce tribute of her first three albums, the one that she did with me and that I also executive produced. And then next, fourth quarter of next year, we hope to announce our Earth, Wind and Fire, who I had the opportunity when I was the President of music. Well, Sanctuary. To have done Bruce. I'm a Bruce. To have done the last album that I just had a minute blank. What's his name? That Maurice. That Maurice did before he died. So that's a very special album.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Rest of the members we just had on.
Mathew Knowles
Yeah, yeah, it's a very special album. So we'll do Destiny. I mean, Earth, Wind and Fire tribute. So, you know, and then we'll do those. Starting to do Destiny Child internationally, you know, Destiny's job. Believe it or not, all the records that Destiny's Child has sold in America, they've sold more records outside of America. So we. We would. Well, let's think about it. There's only 320 million people in America. There's 7.5 billion more people outside of America. So we understood that. And so this tribute will be big in Europe, it'll be big in Australia, and be big in Japan and Brazil. So we'll, you know, it's a world thing, not just America.

And will you intertwine some of the new things that we're going to get to see or hear? So like the music or some of the video stuff into the tribute as well too. Like for people who are like, you know, wanting to come and see things like will they get to see, have like an experience of, of some of the new things once it's out within
Mathew Knowles
the tribute that's happening now, I Can only say that two of the songs of in the show are not Destiny. Sh.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Okay, all right. And then what about the. The videos that you're talking about that we haven't seen before that that will be eventually seeing that are within this vault of things
Mathew Knowles
we have. We, we, we have. This will blow your mind. We have about five, at least 5,000 hours. It took us six years to transfer this to digital.
Target Advertiser
Wow.
Mathew Knowles
We have over 5, 000 hours of video that you guys have never seen behind the stage footage, day to day stuff.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
When does it date back to?
Mathew Knowles
It dates back to 1986. Wow. So that's like you weren't even born.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
I know. I'm like, that's like all of the career right there. Like, wow.
Mathew Knowles
Yeah.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Okay.
Mathew Knowles
And it's not just on Destiny style or Beyonce. We have Salon stuff. We have, you know, Life Jennings stuff. Mario, you know, all of our artists, we have from Earth, Wind and Fire. We have some OJs behind the scenes. All the artists that we've either managed or we were the record label. We have a large catalog. I was way ahead of the curve in everything we did that we had a video camera rolling.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Was there any moment as you were like, I mean, it took you some years, so you've probably been reminiscent for some time, but were there any moments where you were like, man, wow, like, look at this. And look at where everything. Where all of the business and all of the acts and all the talent ended up where. Where it really got you.
Mathew Knowles
I've been many. Been many, many, many moments of that of just looking back and. And looking back with gratitude also. Yeah, with a lot of gratitude that it could have been someone else, but it was me and it was my kids and artists that I had the opportunity to work with. You know, most people don't even know that I work with Nas. I was his manager on his biggest record he ever did. So there's a lot people don't know. I did the last De La Soul record on my record label. A Chaka Khan and a London Symphony are the last two OJ's records on my label. Or the big hit that Ray J did one wish on my label or that I bought these young black men, five of them, their management companies, and they all reported to me and they had artists like Mary J Blige, artists like Mary Mary, artists like, oh gosh, Kelly did Dilemma with Help me out there. Nelly, Nelly's management company I purchased.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Wow. Okay.
Mathew Knowles
So that's a lot about what we've done at Music World and over the 30 years that you just. Guys just know a bit of the Beyonce salons, Kelly, Michelle, Destiny Shaw, that, that probably equals maybe what? You know, probably 25 maybe.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
So I mean, I know that you're talking about releasing some of this stuff and whichever way you're thinking, but it sounds to me like you might have enough for like, like a documentary deal. Some sort. I know you guys have or Beyonce has done things. Was it AMC or was it Netflix?
Mathew Knowles
She's done it with both. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
You might have another run of that.
Sephora/Target Advertiser
These.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
That's a lot of like, not y'.
Mathew Knowles
All. I will you.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Yes, you. But when I say y', all, I just meant all the stories that you just mentioned. Like, that's a lot. And I think right now people are really appreciating, trying to understand the business better, the history because everything's changing. Everybody's having to like, yeah. Figure it out by themselves especially.
Mathew Knowles
Yeah. And you're right, the business has changed. And, and again, you know, Mario, I managed to record cycles. Life Jennings, I managed two record cycles. We've done a whole lot of stuff that people just don't know. We bought Eve's, Eve's management company. You know, a lot of things happen. And by the way, Lady Gaga, the same management company that I bought, they also managed Lady Gaga and Eve. So when you see songs like Telephone with Beyonce and Lady Gaga, you now say, oh, he was the manager for both. Or you see Nelly and Kelly, you now can say, oh, he bought Nelly's management company.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Now it makes sense.
Mathew Knowles
That's why that happened.

So you'll see things and go, oh, like things flashing back and things going to different, you know, backwards and forwards.
DJ Envy
I seen the first episode, I didn't see you in it. Are you in this season or are you at any season or. No, because usually we'll get a pop up of 50. A pop up here and there. Or you would win Fightland at all.
50 Cent
No, I might have to work on my British accent.
DJ Envy
Have you tried?
50 Cent
No, no, I did. I would have to work on it
DJ Envy
to do it, to get in this. What keeps you motivated to do it? You don't need the money. It's just like at this point, what is it for?
50 Cent
Nah, it's cool. Creatively, like. No, no project is great because of one person. It's a collective, you know what I mean? And what I get a chance to do is communicate what they feel to the network before it gets like they start developing reputations of being difficult or doing things. But they're comfortable expressing how they feel to me. You know, now I'm at a stage where I can, you know, finance and license the project instead of giving it to the networks for them to own.
DJ Envy
Well, there you have it. Check it out. July 31st Fightland on Stars this message is brought to you by Injectable Cabanuva Cabotegravir Rilpiverine Here's a question for you.

Mr. Knows, I appre. I mean every time I talk to you I appreciate you and I feel like I learned so much just history in in the matter in the midst of all the things that are like as they unfold. You always fill in the bubble so easily and so well for us with all of the things that you've been able to do. So I really appreciate you for just taking the time today.
Mathew Knowles
Well, you know, this is all for two people. This is for the fans of Destiny's Child who's waited so patiently over the years and supported the ladies and I think it's only right that we give them back a part of Destiny Child that they haven't seen so they can reimagine some of the things that we haven't shared with them before. So first and foremost, this is for the fans and equal with that, this is for the ladies. And it's not easy being the very Best in the world at something. But when I say they're the number one female group in the history of music, that's not me making up something. You can Google this. They were given that award by the World Music awards back in 2007. I mean, they actually deserve and won that award. And so I want to give back to the ladies and all of this, the things that we are doing now will also help their solo careers. So strategically, having this impact, having the positive noise in the marketplace about Destiny's Child, it helps Michelle, it helps Kelly, and it helps Beyonce. Yeah. And their solo projects.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
Yeah. I was about to say, because all of the ladies, I mean, of course we know that they work across their own solo projects. But like, I've seen Kelly talk a little bit about, you know, she's gearing up to release some her projects and recording things. We've been waiting on Beyonce. Michelle is always working on things as well, too. So I get it. I do.
Mathew Knowles
And, and, and hey, I've seemed with my own eyes, 20,000 people go crazy when Kelly does her show, her solo shows because she does seven Destiny's Child songs.

Right.

So everybody wins from this. The fans win, the ladies win, I win. Everybody wins. So thank you for the opportunity. I just want people to go to Destiny's Child.com and those of you in New York and Houston with Chicago and Philly and Detroit D.C. on July 24th in Houston. You know, we're looking forward to that first show. We're doing our second segment of the Destiny Shadow iconic reimagined tribute here. And we started out each one of them in Houston because this is hometown, so. And we look forward to seeing you in the others shows that we do around the country. Go to DestinysChild.com and get your tickets now because they're selling out all of those cities. So thank you for this opportunity. It's been great. I enjoy sometimes because most people don't know the backstory or the history. They think they know it, but the media gives them often clickbait kind of stuff, but they don't really know the real stories about these songs about, you know, how they came about. And that's why I'm narrating them doing the shows as well.
Sephora/Target Advertiser
Well, thank you for that.
Interviewer (likely a music or entertainment journalist)
It's needed every time. That's what I said. Every time I talk to you, I feel like I get a lesson on because you. I mean, you know, you got y' all die hard fan pages who they know so much stuff. I'm like, how do y' all even know all this stuff. But even in the steel I feel like anytime I watch an interview with you right I talk to you myself. I get information that I had no clue about. So we appreciate you.
Mathew Knowles
Thank you. Have a great day.
