Hey, y'. All, what's up? It's Lauren the Rosa. And this is another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. So today we are going to get right on into it. I feel like I would. I mean, I. I just feel like today checking in behind the scenes of the grind and the conversation that is going to shake this room that we are about to break down and discuss kind of would intertwine a bit. So I don't know, maybe we should still check in behind the scenes of the grind.
Podcast Guest/Co-host
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, let's do it. So checking in behind the scenes of the grind today. I mean, I don't know. I'm. I don't really have a real. Like, if I'm asking myself, how am I really feeling? I don't really have anything that, like, pops into mine instantly. I do know this morning what came over my mind when I started my day was don't forget to worship. So, you know, I did my little praise and worship and stuff this morning on the way into the Breakfast Club, and I don't know, my dad's been flowing pretty smoothly. I really don't have too much to tap into today. I know normally when we check in behind the scenes of the grind, I am here unloading. Okay. About all my thoughts and feelings, but that, honestly, is like it. This is a season for me where I am. I don't. I would say, like, facing a lot of things, but I think I've always been a person to face things. I've never been a person to run from things. But I think now in this era of my life, because I'm preparing for things like, you know, buying a home, you know, getting married, figuring out bringing kids into this world. Just really trying to show up the best way that I can and really paying attention to the areas that I lack, showing up the best way I can in. I'm facing things that necessarily, I just wouldn't take the time to internally and. And that has, you know, that causes different feelings, emotions, conversations within yourself and with other people around you. But I think for me, I. Before I. I start to do all of these things and divulge a bit and peel back the onion a bit more, I. I don't know. God has been instructing me to just get really deep into my prayer and into my praise and worship because it's a lot there. You know, it's a lot in the pot that you got to mix up. So before I go into the mess and mixing up things, you got to deal with the mess in your life the same way you did with all the applause and the congratulations. Yeah. That's what's been placed on my heart. So I don't know if that helps anybody, if anybody else is feeling like okay right now in order for me to get to the next phase in life, not even just career elevation wise, but like in personal life, discipline wise, if you trying to stop doing some things that you'd have been told yourself you shouldn't be doing no more, sometimes you got to take a second and put on an armor. And that's where I'm at right now. I'm armoring up because there are things that I want to, I want to do better and be better about. So as we have that conversation, let's get on into the latest. Yes, y' all and Taylor Made it is here. Y' all know Taylor is our producer at the podcast and does all of our imaging imaging for all the regular folks out there, you know. Cause I ain't know what it was either. It's like all of the intros that you guys hear across the podcast, across the Breakfast Club, all those nice little songs and jingles, our girl Taylor puts them together. But today she's going to be, you know, my wingman. Here on the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. As we get into this conversation, Back

So this conversation that we're gonna be talking about actually went down back in August of 2025. The beautiful women, Mandy B. And Weezy of the Decisions Decisions podcast formerly known as Horrible Decisions, sat down for an interview with Kami Crawford for her show Relationshit. And on the show, they talk about everything from relationships to marriage to, you know, all the things. In this particular episode, they get into just what it's like, even the thought of balancing, you know, being married and having a man and cleaning and cooking and just doing all the things when you are a boss. Like when you. You know what I'm saying? Like, when you really out here, you grinding. The women of Decision Decisions have a very successful podcast, super huge successful podcast community. They're also here on the Black Effect Podcast network now in 2026. They are new York Times bestsellers as well. So in business owners, I was even outside of the podcast. So, you know, the conversation was right on time and right on point for them. But there is one clip that has surfaced almost a year later now. Mandy B. Says, being married is for broke women. Let's take a listen.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm super rich.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm super fine. I'm super duper enough, God damn it, for someone to want to come after me and get alimony. I'm a lot 10 figures. Tie me up. I'm getting a prenup. See, you're getting a prenup. I'm getting a prenup. When you're a woman with even say you're only and only is crazy.

Lauren LaRosa
I was thinking about this yesterday or the other day when I forget what we were talking about in the room. Oh, this is when T.K. kirkland was here. Actually, I was thinking about this. Charlamagne said something about. Because they were talking about, like, my spirit, right? And how that leads into, you know, marriage and how I'll show up in the marriage and like, whatever. And Charlamagne was like, no, Lauren is A really great person. She has a great heart. She don't like. She. I don't. I don't even think I've ever heard her curse at work. And I was like. And he was like, well, we don't know how she is in relationships. And I'm like, that's crazy, because I get mad and I'm going off, I'm cursing. I'm doing all the things. And my man do not. He don't. That is not. He don't go for none of it. And I am learning right now to not. I think it's just a thing of, like, better expressing yourself when you start thinking. Thinking of things like marriage. And I think that's why this clip with Mandy is picking up so much, because I think that there are a lot of women and men in marriages who. Or listening to this clip, and they're like, what a healthy marriage or even a marriage that is bad. But, like, still has two healthy people who want to fight for each other in it. Know that it's not even about the money or the prenups or like, whatever. There is business to marriage that you do have to sort out. But a healthy marriage enables you to do so many things in so many different ways. And I know for me, like, a lot of me wanting to better myself about how I am and how I interact with people is because I want to go into my marriage like that. And I. And, like, I know that, like, the man that I'm with right now deserves that in a marriage. Even on my worst days where I hate him, right? And when I'm listening to Mandy talk, I'm like, my first reaction before when I just watched this clip, only this clip, I didn't go back and watch the full interview in context at first. I have done that, though. But at first, when I only saw this clip, I was like, oh, number one, I know why that's going viral. She know exactly what she doing. She's really good at the content and, you know, getting people going. But secondly, I was like, she seems really, really hurt where. Because I think it really, really hurt. And then the third thing I thought of, that's a woman who has been so hyper independent and having to figure things out for so many people for so long. Your defense is why you hear what you want and you not taking it from me. I work too hard for this, right? Whereas. And I know that because I am her, she is me, we are she, like, a hundred percent. But even in dating, like, I'm really happy that I had the Time to be single. Before I got in a relationship I'm in right now because I was able to clearly see the diff, like the difference between how men who understand certain things about what relationship and partnership should be, how that makes you feel and you react and you, like, even be vulnerable and open enough to like, do things that you've never thought about when it comes to, like taking off your guard and taking off your. Your protection. Like, sometimes I know with myself, I can. I would never say this because I don't believe what she said. I don't believe that being married is just for women who are trying to come up. Even if you are a stay at home wife, a stay at home mom. I do not believe that. I think I commend those women who do that even more because I think the vulnerability goes beyond just, I love you, I want to make a great home for you. I want to, you know, raise your kid. I want to, you know, pick up where you're lacking or you know what I mean? Like, that woman puts on so much more than anybody in the household. So I commend those women way more than sometimes I do, even working women. And I know people might be upset to hear that, but I just think about whether I could hold that down or not. And I don't know if I could. That's a lot to bear when you are the leader of a household for everybody. But I also think about when I hear what she's saying. Like, even if you got into a marriage and financially, you weren't the breadwinner or you did stay home, right? There are certain things about certain men when. When it's when you're made to feel like. And I'm not saying that man is always perfect. What I'm saying is it's like, you know, the cloth of the man that you're with, or woman, you know, however y' all swinging it these days, you know, the cloth of the person you're with. And to me, in my marriage, like, that's what I always want to remember. So when I hear this, I'm like, me as a. Always had to figure it out. Oldest child. I hear that. And I'm like, oh, I know I can sound like that in other ways. Like, I would never say that being married is for broke women, but I can in other ways sound very like, this is mine, you didn't work for this. You're never gonna take me out. I gotta protect myself. It's me versus everybody, because who got me, right? Whereas, like, no, like, when I'M looking at marriages that, you know, people are, like, in partnership for real. It's never who got me. It's we got each other. Like, you know what I'm saying? And I think that's why she's getting a lot of pushback for this. But then I started to unwrap a lot of. I'm like, I gotta watch this full conversation because, like, why did you just come out swinging so hurt like that? And then there's another clip where Mandy is talking about, you know, watching her mom interact with men and take care of men financially. Let's take a listen.
Ashley Iconetti
I'm super rich.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm super fine. So I'm super duper enough, God damn it, for someone to want to come after me and get alimony.
Cabenuva Advertiser
I'm a lie.

Target Advertiser

Ashley Iconetti
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
You don't see that as more money woman, Period.
Ashley Iconetti
I'm wanting to make more money.
Lauren LaRosa
So then I watched this clip, and I was like. I saw this part of the interview, and I was like, okay, I get it. That's also a trauma response. Like, that's you not wanting to end up, like, what you didn't like about your mom's experience. You know what I'm saying? Like, so then that's another layer of defense or fight or fight mode against. Here's. I don't want to go here. I don't ever want to end up like that. And I think as women sometimes, like, I think especially independent women.
Cabenuva Advertiser
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I don't think people understand our defense mechanisms at all. Like, they make it seem like we're, like, ungrateful. We're too independent, we hate men, we're miserable. And it's not that. It's just when you're a super hyper independent woman, most of the time, we're, like, the most loving, loyal people. So we're scared that if we do it in the wrong circumstance or for the wrong people, we're gonna be cup not runneth over. Like, you know what I mean? Like, the complete opposite of that. Like, I know for me, it's a fear, and I've had to recently, like, admit and be like, yo, like, you're like this not because, you know, all the time, something's happening. You're anticipating things sometimes because you're fearful. Or if something does happen, it could be something that is small, that can be, you know, figured out, worked out. Like, I have my boundaries set now at this point in my life. Like, there's certain things that happen that can happen in relationships that if that happens, I don't know if I could work toward that. Then go get married. Like, I hear, like, people talk about, like, cheating while, like, in marriages, and I don't know if I could work through that.
Podcast Guest/Co-host
Me neither.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, not at this point in my life. Like, absolutely not. No. And the bare minimum is not to cheat.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I feel like, okay, like, I. I get it. People are human. We might not be perfect. Like, and because I think about it like this too. It's like there are small things or things that may be small to you. Like, say, oh, oh, saying a person's fine or something like that, that your man, that might be like, a huge red flag for him because of something that he's going through in the past where that small thing leads to something bigger and vice versa. There could be something that is very small to. Because it's like, oh, well, all I did was this. But it's like, no, like, for me or for. For your woman, that could be, like, a major red flag because of something that she's experienced in the past that may have started from something small. You got to learn how to, like, learn and grow in a marriage and in preparing for marriage. And I think that when I'm listening to Mandy talk, I'm like, oh, this is what they talk about. When it's like, you have so much that you've experienced that you don't even understand how much is leading you, like, in the past, how much is leading you in the future.
Podcast Guest/Co-host
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
And you have to be. And honestly, I don't think Mandy. I think Mandy probably also knows her trauma too, though. And she just. Yeah, that's just how she expresses it. But that's what I'm saying. Like, I. When I said, like, I don't think people understand our defense mechanisms. Like, I don't think she's an idiot.

I think it was an idiotic take. I think that it was crazy. I don't, I don't agree with it because many, it's too many successful women that are married. Yes. Who came to the marriage with the table. Okay. And then because of them, the man now has a table or two.
Cabenuva Advertiser
Exactly.
Lauren LaRosa
That was right.
Ashley Iconetti
Crazy.
Lauren LaRosa
But like, I, I don't, I don't think that. I think that it was an idiotic take. But I don't think she's an idiot. I think that she is a person that is responding to the nature of what she's seen. Yeah. And what she's experienced. And it's like this is her fight back to make sure that doesn't happen for her. Now, she had commented one of the outlet, Spiritual World shout out to Spiritual World had posted the first clip we played where she said that marriage was for broke women. And she had commented back to one of the users on social and she was saying that like, a marriage today doesn't benefit any woman without a prenup. And I'm like, what? But what? But why she keep putting money into it? Why can't people just want to share their life with each other and make that commitment? Like, why does it. I think people can, but I think again, I think it's just all on, like, what you've Come up off of like, yeah. Being scared that somebody's going to come into it. And even if they have what you have, people always, you know, I think about that all the time. Like, man, divorce is like, everybody I know who's ever had to go through a divorce always says, the person you marry is not the person you divorce.
Charlamagne Tha God
And.
Lauren LaRosa
Right. And I just think about breakups. Like, my last long term relationship, the breakup, I was like, oh, you couldn't wait to do this. Like, I was so shocked. Like, I'm like, okay, I'm so happy I didn't have kids. I'm so happy. All we got to argue about is when I can get your name off of a lease of an apartment because, oh, the True Colors was coloring. And he probably felt the same way about me. Yeah. Because I think once you get to a certain state of things and. And the state doesn't always stay there. Like, I think eventually that's why people are able to divorce and like, successfully co parent or like, whatever. Because in the moment, there's a lot of emotion, there's a lot of hurt. You're grieving an experience that you both had differently at the same time while having to interact and deal with that person. I can't imagine being like, like, just in the midst of all of that, but I think for some people, like, it is a scary thing. They have to think about, like, the money situation, all that. Like, I'm not scared to have to go through that because I just know it's something that you're gonna have to do. But I literally just started working with, like, an estate manager, and I'm figuring out, like, brokerage accounts and like, all these big girl things.
Podcast Guest/Co-host
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
And the woman I'm working with, she's. She asked me, like, you know, where, like, they cared so much about my relationship. And I was like, why? And she was like, well, you know, if your relationship is as serious as you say it is, like, you guys are gonna be talking about marriage soon. And with marriage comes really hard financial conversations about prenups and. And I'm like, dang. Like you. Like, that's like such a. I've never thought about having to have those conversations. Really. I knew that eventually I would, but for me, I think I've always just been so, like, like, marriage is my fairy tale. Not my fairy tale ended, but, like, I want my marriage to feel like my fairy tale. You know what I mean? That I didn' the business side of the marriage. And I think Mandy is going into it thinking not about fairy Tale and love. But what's the business, though? I'm not mad at her for thinking that way either, though, like, because the butterflies and all that, like, they don't. They don't stay there all the time. Yeah.
Target Advertiser
Yeah. So.
Lauren LaRosa
And then things get real. Life be lifeing, and people change in relationships outside of it. People are definitely going to change in America. Even, like, the circumstances around it. It doesn't mean like. Like, situations change people too.
Ashley Iconetti
So it's just.
Lauren LaRosa
That's true. So I think that her thinking like this, to me, I always think, though, I'll just say that there should be love in a marriage. It shouldn't just be thinking, yeah, money, though, personally. But it's crazy, though, to think about it because it made me start thinking, like, all right, so do I want a prenup? Do I not want a prenup? Do I like. And I wouldn't.
Target Advertiser
This is.
Lauren LaRosa
I don't like. Sorry, go ahead. I was trying to. 1. I was trying to think, like, would I be upset if. Because I think having a conversation is hard for some people, too, because people take. People take prenup as like, you're accusing them of, like, wanting to take something from you. I don't take that. I didn't look at. I don't look at it like that either. Because also, too, what people don't understand is in a prenup, you can come up with the term. So sometimes. Sometimes the terms is, yo, what I come with, I leave with. Sometimes it's like, what I come with, I leave with. But what we build, we split it 50, 50, right? And like, for me, I'm not mad at that. Like, I'm not mad at that. Like, especially if you think that this is a person you want to have children with and stuff like that. Like, like you said, things change. Yeah, exactly. Things change. People gotta get into the reality of it instead of a fairy tale of it, though. Like, I don't think having a conversation about prenup and just protecting yourself is a bad thing, though, because that's why I said people. I wish she had. I wish. Yeah, I wish her. I wish her. I wish her. I don't know how you name it. I wish her headline about this made it where people weren't like, yo, she's crazy. What the heck is she talking about? I'm gonna listen to her. She ain't married anyway. Because I do think that there's, like, that's what comes with it, too. Yeah, I think that there's, like, a conversation about prenups. That like, I. Do you feel like you see a lot of black women just like openly talk about that. I don't even. I was trying to think like, who's a successful black woman that we know is successful and has built everything on her own, but also quite a lot in her marriage. Who's talked about coming into her marriage? Like, I would love to hear Beyonce talk about a prenup. Yeah. But I want to hear like a relation. A couple talk about it. Not just like, oh, so like going into it and then a marriage. Yeah, like, but like them. Like, I would love for. This is hard though, because a lot of. I think the. At least the relationships I see that have a podcast. Like, I was gonna say the devout. I don't want. Yeah. I mean, I like, knew each other when they were younger. Yeah, I like that. I do like them. But yeah, I, I want to see. Because like, even like dating older, even listening to like Envy and Charlemagne talk about their marriages, you can't. You can't talk. No. They knew each other forever.
Target Advertiser
Exactly.
Lauren LaRosa
I would love to see people who met each other a little bit more. Like when you were like, even if you didn't have everything you have now, but like, you know, things was rolling, you knew where it was going. And Travis Kelsey right now.
Ashley Iconetti
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
I know Taylor Swift got a prenup. No shade. Like, Travis Kelsey is successful, he got money. But like
Target Advertiser
she is.
Lauren LaRosa
They're both business powerhouses. Like, it's no way anybody around. And I think that's what's different too. I feel like when you are white or not just non black. To me, I feel like there's black people and then there's everybody else. When you are not black, there are certain conversations that people have and it is like normal. I know for a fact there's nobody in total world that would tell her not to have a prenup or Travis Kelsey. And it's not weird. It's normal. It's what people do. And I was gonna say with the same thing with Coco and Donovan. Donovan. Like, they just got married. Like I was. Yeah, right. And she's been working, he's been working. Her dad was like, you know, big name in football. Like, oh, I didn't know that.
Podcast Guest/Co-host
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Yep. Her dad was in football as well. But yeah, I would love to know what that's like. I feel like people don't talk about it because the way that it's in, especially in our community, I haven't seen anybody anyway. Like not like a big name person who talks about it. In a way that, like, is very honest, because I think people will take it. Like, if Kevin Hart were to come out and talk about having a prenup with Aniko, people would be like, oh, he thinks she out for his money. And it's like, Eve. No. Even if. I mean, I'm not saying that that's what he thinks, but, like, he isn't at that one direction, though. Why can't it just be. I don't. That's what I'm saying. And maybe. I mean, because I know, like, Aniko and Kevin Hart met, you know, very well into Kevin Hart's success. I'm trying to think of, like, a couple that were. And, like, you know, and Kevin Hart is like Kevin Hart and an ego. She's not in. In the entertainment business. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
Cabenuva Advertiser
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, she ain't really black. Is she black? I don't know. What is she? I have no idea. Let me see. But what was she before she was a model, I believe. Okay. Yeah. Let me see. No, she not black. So I feel like the only conversation I saw that this happening in. She's Asian and white child who got a black wife. Dang. I didn't say Coco, but. But I'm gonna say that, yeah, they're. They're young. I mean, yes, I would love to hear from Coco and Donovan on it, because they are young. Actually, I think older people would, like. They would dance around, like, the truths and how difficult it actually is. The only. The only time I seen, like, a conversation like that was on Tyler Perry, why did I get Married too? Didn't you say you just watched that? Yeah. Remember, and Jan Jackson, her husband, were going back and forth. Yeah, but see, I think power dynamic plays a part, too, because remember when Janet Jackson was tearing up the house? We should put some of that in here. She was tearing that house up when they came to get his stuff out the house. And she was talking about how she gave him the money for stuff like, who gave you the money to start the architecture firm? And stuff like that. So she was. It seemed like her car was moving before his was. And I think in relationships, it that happens. Like, where one person's up, the other person's not. Then one person's up and the other person's not. Like, that happens. And I want to be in a type of relationship where, like. Because I've always been the person that has had to, like, have me, like, always. I've never been in a relationship up until this point where I'm like, All right. If something were to happen to me, like, if. If right now we were to be married with children and something happened to me where I couldn't do what I do every single day to, like, make the bulk of my money. I know. Like, if I was married to my boyfriend right now, we had children, I wouldn't even worry about anything. Like, I know him enough to know that, like, he got us, like, and. And it wouldn't. And as long as he could handle it being one person, not two, doing what we were doing and, you know. Cause that's different when things change. He would have us at the level that we would have each other together. You know what I mean? Like, nothing would slip. Like, our kids wouldn't feel a difference in, like, living or, like, he would. No. And that's. That's very important. I remember kind of seeing that with my parents, like, when the recession happened. Yeah. And my father ended up, like, losing his business from it. But my mom was still. Where's your dad's business, Morgan? He did something with a mortgage. Oh, yeah. That was a tough time for people, so. But my dad is resilient as hell. Like, he. He don't stay down for long at all. Like, he's gonna find another way. And nothing changed from my lit. Like, our living situation.
Target Advertiser
Like that.
Lauren LaRosa
Like that. Yeah. But that's because also, my mom, like, they have a union where it's like, I got you. Yeah, but. And my dad built that up quick like that. Like, yeah. And that's why when you hear her, like, when I hear Mandy say, like, it's for broke women, I'm like, what? Like, no. Like, oh, my God. Even if you're literally coming to the table financially with zero and your husband got 10 marriage. The right marriage, you put that woman with that man, they gonna walk away with at least a good 500,000 to a million dollars. Like, exemplifies, like, it's the best of the two when it's working together. It's not a woman. Nothing about marriage should just be a woman marrying because she trying to come up and get her life together.
Ashley Iconetti
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I do think that there is a level of. Level what a marriage is supposed to be. No, like, leveling up your life happens when you're married. If you marry the right person, because now you have a partner and you have somebody to motivate you, somebody to push you. Like, but it just is not that. And I don't know, like, you know, I'm getting to see more married people who are, like, not Perfect. But, like, they are choosing each other every day, and they're happy. And I've seen married people who were not happy. Like, I've seen that. I've seen people, you know, young and go through divorce as well. And I think in each of those situations, like, none of the women were like, yo, I'm broke. I need to get married. Right. I do know women, though, who. And maybe this is what she was referencing. Who they looking for somebody to save them, and they're like, okay, I want to be married. I want a house. I want kids. And that's like. Like, come. Like, that's my saving grace. But I think even in those situations, those women, they ready to provide home. Like, they're ready to do what it takes to empower the man to have something to bring home. Like, and even that, I feel like you're rich in something if you're able to do that.
