And a third person is arrested for allegedly targeting witnesses in the Nolan Xavier Wells case. It's Wednesday, August 5th. From the black Effect Podcast Network, I'm Amy Brown. This is front page and here are the day's biggest stories. Stay with me. An armed man in California is facing charges after investigators say he was found carrying weapons and tactical gear at President Trump's golf course just days before the president was scheduled to visit. Federal prosecutors say 38 year old Jeanine John Talley was arrested Saturday at Trump's national Golf Course in Rancho Palace Virtus. According to investigators, plainclothes FBI agents saw Talley walking around the property taking photos and videos and monitoring what appeared to be security operations.

Deputies say they found a loaded magazine filled with hollow point ammunition in his pocket. A search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded handgun with a round of already chambered and another loaded magazine. The next day, investigators searched his home and they say they found an illegally modified AR style rifle, another handgun, body armor, high capacity magazines, thousands of rounds of ammunition, radio signal devices and notebooks containing what authorities describe as concerning statements. The investigation now involves the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Secret Service. Authorities say Talley was already under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department in an unrelated robbery case. Officials have not identified a credible threat to the public and have not publicly said what they believe Talley was intending to do. President Trump was scheduled to appear at the golf course Tuesday evening for a Republican National Committee fundraiser. And a case the Trump administration once called vandalism has now completely fallen apart. Federal prosecutors have now dropped every charge connected to alleged damage at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after newly uncovered evidence suggested the damage may have been caused by a construction problem, not vandals. Last week, prosecutors dismissed the felony case against Olympian David Hearn, who had been accused of destroying government property and was facing up to 10 years in prison. Court filings say investigators could no longer prove Hearn caused the damage after new evidence pointed to problems with how the pool's protective liner had been installed. Prosecutors cited what they described as a botch installation that caused the liner to separate from the surface. President Trump is sharply criticizing the decision, saying he still believes the reflecting pool

was vandalized And I was disappointed with Jeanine Pirro. Really disappointed with Jeanine Pirro. She. She folded like an umbrella. No, Jeanine Pirro made a mistake. It was vandalism. We have photographs or tapes, like moving cameras, right? We have them where people are on the side cutting it with a box knife. It's a little hard to say who it exactly was, but it was people cutting this very expensive material, waterproofing material. Anyway, it looked beautiful. And then they cut it and they vandalized. And we weren't necessarily thrilled with the contractor, but they did a job and they were fixing any problems. But then it got carried away because the judge was extremely unfriendly to Janine. And frankly, I think she choked.

And now prosecutors have dropped all the remaining misdemeanor cases. That means all four defendants are now cleared. And David Hearn's attorneys say the case cost him his job and they're considering legal action against the federal government. The contractor responsible for installing the liner has not yet publicly been identified. And lastly, federal investigators have arrested a third person accused of threatening witnesses connected to the investigation into the death of Nolan Xavier Wells. According to Federal court records, 40 year old Edward James Porter is charged with transmitting threatening communications in interstate commerce. Prosecutors say Porter threatened to kill a witness and the witness's family before sending the witness their own home address, allegedly to show he knew where they lived. He is now the third person charged in connection with alleged threats surrounding the case. Last week, authorities arrested a California man accused of sending Judge Ashley Cole a Facebook message claiming he had mailed her a package that would, quote, blow you away. And earlier, an Ohio woman was arrested after prosecutors say she repeatedly called a Mississippi courthouse making a bomb threat tied to the case. Officials also say Nolan's parents have received numerous threats during the investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made in those cases. Meanwhile, the state medical examiner has completed Nolan's autopsy, but the findings have not yet been released to the public. And attorney Ben Crump says the family still has not been allowed to review the report. No one has been charged in connection to the death of Nolan Wells. We will continue to follow the investigation. That's your front page. I'm Mimi Brown. This podcast was brought to you by the Black Affairs Podcast Network.
