Lauren LaRosa
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody. You know, she don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room. Baby, back on the ground. Okay, y'. All. So checking in behind the scenes of the grind. I am actually preparing right now to head to. Oh, it's gonna be a crazy next couple of days. I am preparing to head to Texas for South by Southwest. It will be my first time there. So of course I will be bringing you guys all of the good stuff from south by Southwest. And then I'm going to be heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. This is actually my first time in Charlotte, too. This is my first time in Charlotte, like, where I'm actually getting to like be there and experience Charlotte and like, you know, all of that stuff. I think I was there for maybe about an hour or two before, like just flying in through the different airports. But yes, this is my first time as an adult in Charlotte and I'm doing a battle, a big HBCU battle of the bands there this Sunday, the 15th, which is also Oscar Sunday. So it's going to be super busy, because, y' all know we tuned in and we tapped in. It's a countdown into the Oscars. So, yeah, I'm literally just running around getting all things, all life, all, everything together for that. Okay. Amen. So, yes, busy, busy behind the scenes of the grind, but blessed to be busy and, you know, grateful to be busy still. But that's just a process because whenever I'm traveling for work, everything still must go on. Like, the show still must go on. We still got to know what's going on. We still got to know what the latest is. I'm always working on stories and exclusive angles and just trying to figure out how I can run it up, how I can not run it up, just like, you know, making some money. But I'm always thinking about how I can optimize, like, what is a new angle on a story? Who can I talk to on this? How can I personify the moment? How can I, you know, all of the things? So moving around while doing that is not the easiest because I've learned that I'm such a sit down, be in my schedule, be in my practice type of person. But with this job, I've been blessed to be able to go out and do things like this. So I'm excited. And what I normally do is so that I can stay focused on stories and still deliver you guys a great show on Monday morning. After being at south by Southwest and being in North Carolina and just doing all these things right, I try to. And I'm not the biggest planner, but I've had to learn to become it. I over plan, over prepare. So the packing and everything is beginning now. I am also planning, like, okay, what content will I be able to do while I'm in these places? And how can I bring you guys that in real time? And if you've heard any of our other episodes, when I'm traveling to places, whether it has been the forward cruise or Ghana or shoot, I even took y' all to. To court for the Diddy trial. Like, anytime I can take you guys actually into the scene or wherever I'm at, I do it. So that helps a lot. So make sure you guys tune in for those upcoming episodes, those conversations, and actually go. This is. This is a podcast with low riders. Y' all know, I love to treat this like a vlog, because, you know, I'm a vlog girl by nature. That, you know, the vlogging is all of the things I used to love when I could do it more often. So, y' all Come everywhere with me. So stay locked for that. Speaking of all things moving and changing, let's get into the latest because after her house was shot up 10 times, at least 10 times, I think Rihanna is getting on up out of LA and I'm not mad at her. Let's get into the latest. So on our last episode, if you guys have not listened, please go take a listen to that episode. I broke some exclusive news to you guys as it was being talked about in real time. So police released a report to media letting us know that the woman who was responsible for shooting at Rihanna's home at least 10 times, because it could have been more, named ivana Lisette Ortiz, 35 year old woman was arrested. Now I told you guys in our last episode that there have been a ton of videos and social media posts circulating that police did not confirm were hurt. So at the time I did not feel comfortable, comfortable with using them. Within the episode. However, Ivana's husband has come out and spoken to several different outlets and, and just talked a bit about the fact that Ivana wasn't doing okay. She had been placed in a psych ward down in Florida where she is from back in 2023, lost her custody of her child in 2024. All of this because of a mental health issue that she battles some sc schizophrenic style things. And it paints the picture that I think a lot of us knew, especially when I, you know, you're talking about someone being arrested and then being booked on over $10 million worth of bail for attempted murder and a robbery and you know, homicide department are investigating it. So motive there is pretty clear, although we haven't heard it directly from the police officers where we can kind of understand what their thinking is. And even though the DA hasn't actually charged her with these things officially. So that was the last conversation we had. Now since then there has been so much more that has come out. So there are tons of these Facebook posts where she targets Rihanna, she targets Kim Kardashian, she targets Cardi B. And we'll, we'll play some of those just so that you guys can kind of understand the extent of how not like in her mind or out of it she was. But I want to talk about a new police audio that was released.
Police Dispatcher
Suspects of female Hispanic, blonde hair and Parade suspect number one is a female Hispanic gone terror 30 years. This shine is in 1921. She's gonna be wearing a cream colored blouse. 781, Michelle Marie Ferguson, license status expired off white, cream, color. 7A1, roger. 9841 is asking is there a unit already following the vehicle or do they need someone to follow? 2 in front of you. Just made the left turn. Okay, good plate. They're making a right turn into the mall parking lot into the Regal, and they're going to be out of my sight. You guys can call. I'll forward on the tech response. Forward adventure right and turn into the mall parking lot of the Regal. This is a good shooting suspect. Now they have the vehicle. Driver is out on his knees or they're approaching the vehicle. Now servers under the vehicle. Units are approaching the vehicle.
Lauren LaRosa
But this new police audio that was released shows the police officers and their joint effort to arrest Ivana. And now the police have been saying since the first response to the media went out that she was arrested without incident. And in this audio, you basically hear that she's arrested without incident because she eventually gets out of her car and just gets down on her knees, which is honestly, like, this whole thing doesn't seem real, but unfortunately it is. But when you hear something like that, that sounds like the ending to, like, a. A chase in a movie. But basically, once Ivana leaves Rihanna's home, the shooting is. It has happened. People have called the police. There's so many police cars in the area that she's riding through. They're. They're all reaching back out to dispatch and saying, hey, we see the car. Do you guys need some help? And there's this joint takedown effort that flawlessly happens. So before we get to that, I want you guys to hear just some of Ivana's Facebook post so you can just hear how out of her mind she was. The way that Rihanna wants to kill me. She's the one who wants to kill me. The way that Rihanna wants to kill me shows that we're not going to show this right now, but this is my heart, Lord, and I am expecting and waiting in that beautiful time for you to show me what you're gonna do and how you're gonna deliver this promise. It's in my heart, and it's in my vitality. And I'm very, very grateful to you for your abundant graces. Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut the up, okay? Shut the up. Yeah. She's a witch. She's a witch. I'm a watchman. She's a witch. Get that stupid girl out of here. Okay?
Redfin Advertiser
And it.
Lauren LaRosa
And it really makes you think about, like, Celebrity and stand culture and all of that so differently, right? Because when you think about Rihanna, she has the navy, which are her fans. Rihanna is like one of those celebrities that like everybody loves, everybody falls in love with, everybody becomes a fan of and she has such die hard fans and has for decades and Rihanna. And this also makes you think about is there now a new level of like celebrities and what they can and can't do when it comes. Talking about running around all weekend for south by Southwest and I don't even consider myself a celebrity. But when you're interacting with people, it really does make you think about and move differently about how you have conversations when it comes to celebrities and what they do to protect themselves and how they interact and why. Like let's think like for instance, like Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber is a person who, same way as Rihanna has had fans that have literally grown up with him since he were, since he was young. He's grown up in the industry, he has stands, he has people that feel so connected to him because of that, who have went through everything with him from the issues he was having with police at one time to you know, new music, to new baby, new wife. But Justin Bieber, Bieber has always vocally and in his actions never been one that cared for like the paparazzi and people violating his privacy. Just a few days ago there was a video of Justin Bieber leaving out of a location and he was pissed that the cameras were there and filming him and his wife as they were getting into the back of a car and he threw a water bottle at them. And every time people talk about Justin Bieber and his issues with the media, it's always a conversation of like, Justin Bieber goes crazy all the time when it comes to the media. Justin Bieber goes off on the media. Like I think after something like this, the conversation needs to be Justin Bieber does things to protect himself and let it be known that he doesn't want people in his privacy space. Rihanna's the type of person where I've seen, you know, cameras and especially when me used to, when I used to work at tmz. I remember one time we ran into Rihanna and she was leaving a grocery store and she was down to talk and she, you know what I mean? Like she's a whole lot more of a different type of celebrity. She's approachable, she's relatable and I, I mean you would hope, you would want to say I hope something like this doesn't change her because for a lot of celebrities and creatives and artists. They, we thrive off of the people. Like, I love being out and about with the people who know what's going on, being on the ground, understand, like, you know, all those things. But it is a scary situation when you see something like this where it's like Rihanna could have literally been hurt, if not hurt, killed by a woman who in all reality isn't even mentally stable enough to understand the actions that she's doing. So how dare we get upset at like a Justin Bieber or, you know, anybody who feels like, I mean, Kanye west was going through it at one point too, who feels like they need to do more to protect their privacy. Yeah, man, this, this is such a, this is such a crazy conversation to be having around Rihanna.

This is Matt Barnes from All the smoke. In 1876, the very first phone call in history was made. And 150 years later, we're more connected than we've ever been. But even though technology will always change, a one on one phone call still remains. Everything AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years. That's too many conversations to count. And so many of life's biggest moments start with the phone call. I remember when I received a call from my agent in 2002 to let me know I've been called up from the G League. It was one of the greatest, most exciting calls. It finally came. I was waiting on it for about three months and it finally happened and it changed my life. From there I went on to win a championship and start this amazing show that we're talking about now. From 1876 to 2026. No matter what you need to talk about, AT&T keeps us connected.

and there's a new report circulating that Rihanna has, you know, packed up and left la. There was a private jet that was leaving private airport in LA that is used for celebrities on their private jets in their private planes. Police are still outside of Rihanna's home. The investigation is still, still continues. I'm not mad at her for getting the hell out of la. If I was Rihanna, I probably would not be able to live in that house. Because now we're also finding out she was in that house with her kids. From reports asap, Rocky was not home. She was there with her kids. Not for sure who else might have been in the home with her and the babies. But like, it's scary enough when you by yourself, but your kids are there as well too. And now you got to kind of explain if they have questions, you know what I mean? Because they're seeing these things. What's happening. The, the line between being a celebrity, being a person who builds all this fame and impact and influence and, and all of the good that you can do with it is amazing. But then there's always this like, downside to it that is so scary because it's like you're a person too. Rihanna is a person too. But then you have people who are just not okay. And I think the bigger conversation in this is we're in the US and a person like Ivana Lizette Ortiz with obvious mental health issues, you know, with obvious issues that should have prevented her from being able to get a gun, not only got a gun, but reportedly got an AR15. Like that is. That is a thought that it keeps. I can't get it out of my mind. It's like, how does she get her hands on a gun? That is like beyond scary. And another thing that I think is also scary as well too is that you gotta pray that there are not people out here that are copycats that want to go and do like, oh my God, this is just such an ongoing conversation. You have the mental health aspect of it. You have the stand culture, fan culture and you know, celebrities wanting to like be connected and be one with their fans. But like now the safety, everything is so heightened because of social media, like in access to people and to things that we typically would wouldn't have access to.

So I'll keep you guys updated here. Definitely praying for Rihanna and her family in all of this. And as we switch gears a bit, I mentioned to you guys that we are counting down to the Oscars. And you know what is happening right now, y'.
Chelsea Handler
All.
Lauren LaRosa
There is now a conversation. Well, I'm not even gonna say there is now because one of the things that I also get upset about is when we only start having conversations because certain. Because certain negative things are happening. And I'm learning in the media. Speaking of media and learning and things, I'm learning in the media that that is not the way that things should go. But Michael B. Jordan, right? Michael B. Jordan and Timothee Chalamet are up against each other for a huge Oscar. Michael B. Jordan and Timothee Chalamet are up against each other for Best actor this year at the Oscars, at the Academy Awards, and all of the odds are favoring Michael B. Jordan. So you have Koshy.com which gave Michael B. Jordan a 47% chance of winning the Oscar. Timothy Charlemagne has a 43 chance. I know there's a study on Poly Market that also places Michael B. Jordan over Timothee Chalamet. And if this. If Sinner's Movies sweeps the Oscars, they are literally going to. They've been making history with baby, it's going to be even bigger. And now people are really upset. They're mad as hell at them at Timothy Chalamet because of some comments he made when he was having a conversation with Matthew McConaughey about theater and dance and ballet. And I don't know if he understands because he's young, but when you talk about the Academy Awards and moviemaking for real and cinema and all of these things that are so old school Hollywood, you are talking to the ballet community and the dancing and theater community. And he has pissed the people off, okay? And now people believe that this move that he just made that you guys are about to listen to will be if Michael B. Jordan already didn't have it, and I know he has it. Like, it's been slated that he is predicted to win, especially after taking home that actor's award. But if he didn't already have it in the bag. Timothee Chalamet in this interview just sealed the deal. Let's take a listen.
Podcast Host/Interviewer
And I don't want to be working in ballet or opera or, you know, things where it's like, hey, keep this thing alive. Even though no one cares about this anymore. All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership, but I just took shots for no reason. That's not a shot.
Morgan & Morgan Attorney Dan Morgan
I hear what you're saying. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
So thank you guys so much for tuning in. It's been another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa and, yes, County. Right? And I tell you guys, every single episode, y' all could be anywhere with any old body listening and talking about all these things, but you guys choose to be right here with me, my lowriders. Chelsea Handler
This is Chelsea Handler from Dear Chelsea after the Big Game. Like most people, I kept thinking about the commercials and there was one that stayed with me. It was from the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate. And it wasn't loud or flashy. It showed a Jewish kid being targeted at school and another student who chose not to ignore it. As someone who was Jewish, that moment felt very real to me. Not dramatic, just familiar. And what struck me was how clearly it showed that hate doesn't always announce itself, but the impact is still huge. If you saw the Blue Square spot during the Big Game, it's worth thinking about. And if you want to show support, sharing the Blue Square is one small way to do that.
