Hey y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now we are back again with another episode of the latest. And y' all know we always check in behind the scenes, the grind when we kick it off. So let's do it back on the grind. Checking in behind the scenes of the grind. How am I feeling today? Really checking in with myself? I'm, I'm, I'm. I don't know, I feel content sounds like such a bad word cuz content sounds like not stuffy. I think stuffy is the wrong word to describe content. Content sounds like there's no like passion or like motivation or like, you know, like that inspiration to get up and go this week it just sounds like a little blah. So it's not content. But I'm feeling good. I have no complaints. Finally got a little bit of rest over these last couple days. I was late to work the other day so got a lot of rest and I'm, I guess I'm feeling back into the things today though admittingly waking up this morning just felt a bit disconnected. Like for some reason my body still thinks that I'm on vacation because we took a break from some of the other shows that I do outside of the podcast, the Breakfast Club, you guys know. And then the Jay Z weekend hit and that felt like I was at like a music festival. So my body is, is very confused. Like it's like, girl, are we getting up every morning and going to work or are we sleeping in? Getting up, going to have a drink, going to party somewhere, getting in at 4am and doing it all over again. The next day. So once I get through that, I'll be good. But the problem with that is is this weekend I'm headed home to celebrate some really personal things with family. I'll talk to you guys more about it at the top of next week. I'll be able to get into it, but y' all know family always brings me, like, joy, but it also always brings the drinks. So we back outside again this weekend, y'.

All three shows that he did at Yankee Stadium. We had Memphis Bleak on the Breakfast Club this week. Literally the day after Jay Z's final show at Yankee Stadium. Yeah. So following this and following the weekend, he pulls up at the Breakfast Club and we talk about a ton of things. But of course, we got to get some insider information, right? Because there it was rumored, like, people really thought, because, you know, Foxy Brown's brother had posted some things on Twitter. Foxy Brown had cleared her Instagram and she was only following Jay Z. We thought that Foxy Brown was going to come out at those shows this weekend. I didn't even see her. Like, it was to the point where there was one point where we were in the suite. I stood up because envy was like, yo, this gotta be Foxy coming out. And then nobody came out but Jay Z. So we were trying to figure out, was she actually there? Because it was rumored that she was supposed to be there. Let's take a listen to Memphis Bleed.

don't know what it is about, you know, Foxy Brown and, like, my obsession with her still to this day. Like, I know why my obsession started. Like, brown skin, beautiful, you know, talk her ish. I. I've always loved female rap girls because I've always looked at them like, these are the girls that are, like, they got the power. They know how to talk slick. The boys respect them. They got money that, you know, it's the fashion. They fly. They set in the trends. But with Foxy Brown, for me, I think it goes deeper than that because I, oh, my. Like, her little Kim, like, looking at them kis, seeing brown skinned girls just like, run it up and be like, like, little Kim was literally a fashion icon. Foxy Brown, literally. F. We still reference Foxy Brown's looks, her hairstyles, her liner with the lip gloss and the dark lipstick when I'm putting a lot of my stuff together when I'm going to these places. So as I'm waiting for her to come out this weekend, two times, y', all, I got excited and it didn't happen. I thought Sunday we were in line to get in on when all the craziness was happening and my boyfriend thought he heard somebody say, yo, Foxy Brown on her way up. When I tell y', all, I got so excited, like, I was like, almost shaking. Didn't happen. I really wonder. She has not responded to this officially yet to. To Memphis Bleak, stating that she was. She was actually there. He heard that she was actually there. I really wonder if this is true. And if so, like, I wish at least. So if this is true, I wish at least someone would have said to her, even if you don't want to get on stage and perform, because it has been so long since we have seen that if that would have happened, it would have shut down. Like Jay Z already. Shut this, like, shut the world down. Like, it was already pit stop. Everybody talking about Jay Z. Everybody's at the concerts. Everybody's watching the concerts through social media. But Foxy Brown coming on stage, Kanye west popping out on stage. There are certain moments that if people had been able to see that in real time, oh, it would have shut things down on a whole nother level. I wish she had just even came out and said hello or allowed Jay Z to even say that she was in the building. If she really was. Like, honestly, Just for the fans and just for, like, that era of like. Like it Girls. And honestly, like, even thinking about the world, the word it girl, the first people I think of are, like, a little Kim and a Foxy Brown. Like, they originated so much vibe that, like, we still subscribe to today. I just wanted her to, like, come in person and feel that love. Like Foxy Brown stays out the way. There's always been a conversation about, you know, her having, like, a medical condition where she's not able to hear the same way and just. Just certain things that she's always stayed away from since taking a step back from being on stage, performing, rapping, putting out music. But I really think sometimes artists of a certain cloth and artists of a certain time period in real time today, they need to feel the love. Like, they need to know, like, even if she never drops music again, there's a lot of us out here, like, chanting the. The lyrics from Ain't no N Word. I was gonna say the actual word, but y' all not be trying not to, really, like, cuss on here. And that's not a cuss word, but you just didn't. Whatever. But I think she needed to fill it. I think if she would have felt that there was a post that her brother put up on X saying that he had had a conversation with her. I think it was her brother with somebody. That this was before the concerts even kicked off that weekend, that they had had a conversation with Foxy Brown. It was a long conversation. They said that she was in a great mental space. They said that she was super proud of Jay Z and everything that he was about to do in New York and that she was potentially talking about doing music like. Like there's. There's going to be some new music. If she had felt that love in that stadium, I think we would have for sure gotten that music. I'm not even tripping off the music. I just want to see her in person. That's it. That's all. All right, y'. All. So speaking of getting love, getting flowers, paving away, creating things, creating vibes, energy, iconic looks, and all of the things. Time 100 dropped their creators list. So they have revered black boy Max is here. They also have an entertainment and performance creators, a list that includes Alondria. Now, let me tell y' all something about miss Alondra Girl, okay? Love Island. Her departure from Love island and everything that has come after for her has been. She is literally one to study. Like, I look at her, another dark skin, brown skin. However, y' all label the chocolate girls. I look at her and I'm like, yo, she is out here, like, when I say killing it. Whatever team she put in place, once she decided that she was going to continue to stay in the entertainment space following that reality show, God blessed that team. God blessed her. Like, the strategy and the things that they are maneuvering. Like, so I was running around last fashion week, and I ran into her a lot. She was like the girl. Her and Shelly have become like the girls from that show. Especially, like, you know, for black women who were looking at, you know, black women on this reality show that is dating and, you know, all of the things. But fashion and beauty have literally taken those girls in and have not let them go. Alondra did a spread with Mac. There was a campaign that she did with Mac. And when I. I mean, she had done a ton of stuff leading up to that, right? Like, photo shoots and, um, just. They're just positioning her the right way. But when I saw the photo shoot that she did with Mac, I was like, the brand strategy is eating right now. Like, there are celebrities who don't understand how to maneuver their last, greatest, whatever, greatest hit, greatest song, greatest design. Like, you're only as good as your last thing. And there's a lot of bigger celebrities in Alondra who don't know how to navigate once they get that big thing, that partnership with Mac. Not only has she been putting herself in a space where she can become a brand darling, which is important for her. She's an influencer. But to me, I think the story, like, watching her maneuver and figure out these things has also become a big conversation around her HBCU grad. I learned that at Essence Festival, she was spoken. She was supposed to speak on the HBCU panel that we aired here on the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. You could check out that episode previous to this one, or we put this up prior to this one. So go and search it. You'll see it. But yeah, like, she does things in the HB HBCU space, but seeing people be able, especially black people, be able to navigate the mainstream media world. And I don't mean mainstream media like being a journalist or like, you know, news and headlines. I mean, like, pop culture. Like, being able to navigate pop culture for us is never difficult because we literally, like, we create the vibes, but being able to monetize it in a way that is lucrative, that you are able to live very well off of in that you're not exploiting yourself or doing things that don't elevate the conversation around you. For some reason, we, when it comes to, like, our team and our business, it doesn't always end up the best way. Like, oh, my God. We talked a lot about Tiana Taylor this week, and especially because Essence Festival and her and the aunties curating within the festival along with the Essence team. And Tiana Taylor is one of those people who I feel like has always been very hands on about her career, her brand, and all the things. Right. Talking about creators and even she has been very vocal about how she had to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for. For people to, like, open the door and, like, allow her to be what she's being. So to see Alondra, you know, figuring that out very early on in the way that she is doing, I am so proud of her. We almost interviewed her at the BET Awards when I was doing the pre show carpet with Roxy, Jason Lee, and Bow Wow, but we ran out of time. But even then, I was literally like, the couple moments we had together, I think was about like five or ten minutes before they pulled her off of the carpet and took her into the show. I was just telling her, like, yo, watching you navigate is like, like, yo, I'm looking at you like, okay, here's how we should be moving. Here's how we should be showing up, because one thing leads to the other. Seeing her that polish and manipulate and maneuver branding and all that stuff, the way she has been doing it, I, like, I really want to see, like, where all this lands. Like, what is her totem pole of goals where when she gets there, it's like, okay, here's the space we're going to see her in forever. Also on this list, Drew, speaking of creators who hosted the BET Awards, Alondra was a part. They had, like, a little skit that they did together where, you know, when he was pretending to be the pastor and she was looking for a seat. But Drew Ski's been on every top creator list of every whatever for the last, like, year or two. He's having a hell of a year. Mark Phillips as well. There's a sports. There's a sports cad. There's a sports category here. Why don't we got chefs, home cooks, and food creators. Wow, that's different. Yeah, I mean, shout out to everybody that made the list. Shout out to everybody that hasn't made the list yet, aka me. I want to be on the Times Top 100 Creators list. I do. I think even though people yell and scream that stuff like, that doesn't matter for me, I think it always feels good when people recognize the work that you're putting in. Because people look at creators, whether they create online, whether it's in a kitchen, whether it's, you know, on the radio. And I think people love to say it doesn't take talent to do that, or it's easy to do that, or, you know, even with, like, a person like Drew Ski, like, you can't argue that it doesn't take time to do what he does, right? But there are people that will argue, you know, that that could so easily be duplicated. And people can try. People are trying. There's people doing everything that we just talked about with these creators. But what God has for you is for you. And when people recognize what God has had for you and how he has bestowed it upon you and how you are, you know, being a good steward of that and. And best feeling ever. Best freaking feeling ever. So congratulations to everybody. I'm on my way to that list. I promise y'.
