More precisely, the Executive director of community and Industry engagement for Card and Connect Commerce. Under. Under New York City law, theft of property valued under $1,000 is typically charged as petty larceny, which is a class A misdemeanor. Now, these trash cans became surprisingly popular after the Knicks parade, with some people even trying to sell them online for thousands of dollars. New York Sanitation Department called these stunts illegal, antisocial, and incredibly stupid. However, the NYPD has stated that Baez has not been charged with a crime.

They steal whatever paraphernalia they can get. You emptied a big metal trash can in the middle of New York City and wobbled down the street with it like it was perfectly normal. And you might have got away with it if you didn't litter. If you didn't take a whole trash can full of trash and just dump it on a New York City sidewalk, okay? This wasn't even a clean theft.
