Lauren LaRosa
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody.
Kandi Burruss
You know, she don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, y'. All, what's up? It's Lauren the Rosa. And this is another episode of the latest with Lauren the Rosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now today, joining us here for the latest is, you know, honestly, I would say she is the latest news. But I mean, you, I feel like Kandi Burns has been. You've literally been the topic of discussion in so many different ways. My, like, full life. I was thinking about this as I was preparing. Like, I've never, I've never not known. Since I've been working in entertainment, I've never had a year where I'm pitching news stories, I'm covering news or breaking exclusives. And Candy was not one of the artists that the outlet or the newsroom cared for. Like, I literally never. You've always been in the cycle. How does that feel?
Kandi Burruss
I mean, sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's a bad thing.
Lauren LaRosa
So I guess, you know, I guess it's good.
Kandi Burruss
I don't know.
Lauren LaRosa
I got you.
Kandi Burruss
What'd they say? If ain't nobody talking about you, then you ain't doing nothing, so.
Lauren LaRosa
Exactly. Well, I mean, I guess we could get right on into it. Today there was news that broke that your divorce from Todd was finalized. So how are you Today I've seen interviews where you said, some days you're up, some days you're down. How are you feeling today with, you know, the fine, the news hitting today?
Kandi Burruss
I'm okay. You know, it was a little weird for me, you know, when my lawyer hit me and said it was final, I was like, it feels awkward, you know what I'm saying? It's kind of strange because it's like, you know, we've been married for over 10 years now, and we're still communicating, you know what I'm saying? So it just feels weird that, you know, like, we're really not together, I guess, and that I'm not, like, planning for the future no more. It's like, crazy. What.
Lauren LaRosa
So I want to back up a bit before we get into the settlement that is, you know, being discussed in news, because that has also been a very big part of what we know about candy for a lot of the time, right from Real Housewives to, you know, candy coated nights to your businesses to your beautiful family. Todd has always been a part of that conversation with you. How did we get here? Like, I haven't seen you say. I saw you say, like, there was an event that happened. But, like, I. To this day, I'm still like, what
Kandi Burruss
the hell happened, friend? You know, What I will say is I'll discuss more about it in the one woman show that I'm doing in the. I do. I did. I don't. I'm definitely going to address it there. Like, I don't want to give away too much now as far as, like, the details of that, you know what I mean? Obviously there are certain things that came of our divorce, I guess in the day or yesterday that is more public, but, like, my personal feelings and why, how I got to this point, I'm gonna share that in that moment because I kind of feel like me. I'm always doing, like, the way I vent. I always vent creatively, you know what I'm saying? Whether it through some of the songs that I wrote, you know, that I've used to vent in past frustrations or relationships or, you know, maybe some of the times. Well, even like when I did a mother's love play, you know, that was what was going on at the time. Or the Dungeon tour, that was a, you know, venting from a situation that happened. So I always vent creatively. So I want to save that for that experience I'm putting together.
Lauren LaRosa
So when it comes to, like, the. The settlement itself, I know you said that you were fighting to keep all of this sealed. So y' all didn't have to answer to media and I. Not even that you got an answer too, but just so we wouldn't know everything. Right. Like, why would the other side. Why would Ty's side not want it to be sealed?
Kandi Burruss
I couldn't understand it for a minute, you know what I mean? But I think, you know, the way he explained it to me was that he wanted it to be clear, like he wasn't trying to take me for everything I had or something like that. You know what I mean? Because I think, you know, obviously that is the narrative, you know, always. You know, people always want to. Like, as far as. Even when our relationship, the whole time we've been together, it's like that's the narrative. You know what I mean?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
And although, you know, there were things, you know, that were, I guess, said as, I don't know, I don't want to say threats, but as, you know, possibilities of things that could happen when they were first filing things that was never him fighting a prenup, was never a conversation they had with me or never a conversation that was had with my attorney. So I think overall, I guess at the end of the day, when it was all said and done, I want. I guess he just felt like he wanted it to be clear. Like, you know, he didn't try to
Lauren LaRosa
do anything financially for when. I mean, there is there. So in this settlement, there is a lump sum. It's a little bit over $400,000. And then there's like you guys split up cars and real estate. It doesn't mention anything about your businesses. But so is. How do you guys then get to that? So we talked about this was hard, right? It was like in real life, I'm watching you guys and I saw he came over. Not came over. I mean, it's your child's father, your children's father. I saw you guys were together for the holidays. I saw when you posted your one woman show. He jokingly supported that and said, you know, yeah, it's ain't done. Laugh out loud, go support my girl. Right. Like. But then when the docs are filed, it seems like there's an argument about, you know, custody and how that works. And in a settlement, it seems like you guys are 50, 50 down the middle. But there's an argument about custody. It seems like there was an argument about, you know, about being there.
Kandi Burruss
Well, at the end of the day, I mean, as far as our custody is going, we are joint custody. I know everybody said they tried to report something else last week which was not true.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay.
Kandi Burruss
Like, we would still be in court if that was. If it was anything else. Let me just say that it was confusing because people were reporting lies last week.
Lauren LaRosa
Gotcha. Okay.
Kandi Burruss
And so that was. I think that was. That's also a thing for me. That was so frustrating. Through this whole process is like, whenever anything is open, it leaves it to people's interpretation. And you got bloggers who really want to just be the first to report a story. So they'll just say anything without. Without any type of real information. They'll make up stuff and go to the public. And people be so quick to want to be first to post that. They'll just run with whatever they heard.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
Now, what was actually reported in. In the filing, at the end of the day, the final thing, that is what is real. Like, all that other stuff is fake news, as they say. We are joint. You know, everything is split evenly, even when it comes to the financial part of it. We had properties together that we had to split equally. And, you know. You know, basically, it's just. So we just have to end up with equal equity. And so, you know, I. As far as, like, I mean, I guess it said who got what properties. You know, if I ended up with one more, I just had to pay the difference up. So we are still equal in what we got. It's just because I ended up with more on the property side then I just paid the difference of. So it's not like I had to pay him. You get what I'm saying?
Lauren LaRosa
I got you. What was that? But that. But, I mean, but in the settlement, from what I'm going for what TMZ is reporting and from what they're reporting, they're reporting a number. I believe it's like 400, $426,000.
Kandi Burruss
Right. What I'm saying is if you read the whole thing, which is. I guess it's open to the public. Yeah. We. We have to be equal in the equity that we have in the properties that we own together.
Lauren LaRosa
Got you. Okay. So that's separate.
Kandi Burruss
We have to be equal in what we both take out of the properties. So if I. If we didn't sell the properties and we just did based off of, well, I'm gonna take these two, you take whatever. But my properties may be worth more than I have to pay the difference so that we're both still equal.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, y'.
Kandi Burruss
All.
Lauren LaRosa
What's up?
It's Lauren LaRosa, and, you know, I give you your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment, news, and all of the conversations that sh. Room, baby. And for me to give you all the factual content when I get into the details. I gotta make some phone calls. I'm calling lawyers, attorneys, managers, publicists. Shoot, I'll even call your mama if she's the person that's gonna give me the exclusive I need. But did you know that 2026 will mark the 150th anniversary of the first ever phone call? It took place on March 10, 1876. And from the call that sparked it all to the first long distance phone lines, the first line across America, the first line across the Atlantic, the first round the world call, the first commercial cell Service, the first 911 system. AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years in so many different ways. I'm just happy that somebody's gonna answer the phone, because how else would I bring y' all the news all up in the people business? But they answer. Thank you. AT&T.
Connecting changes everything.
Kandi Burruss
AT&T.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, y'.
All.

Dan Morgan
Yeah, 20 billion recovered. It's actually I think somewhere north. Probably closer to 22, 23 after this year. And each year we get bigger and badder and our army grows. So the number will hopefully keep getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
Podcast Host
Awesome. So how does someone get in contact with Morgan and Morgan, what would I do if I got into an accident?

And then when you talk about like you talk about like people reporting things, right? I noticed that eventually at first because I was watching you. You were on your Amazon live show that you do and you were very much like you just didn't want to talk about it at the time. But the fans were there, they were asking questions in the comments and you didn't get into it. But then you kind of started to, you know, talk a bit more and I know you said it was because things were being reported wrong. What was like the craziest thing that you saw throughout this whole time where you were like this is the dumb shit. Like this is why I didn't want to end up here in the first place. Like, what was the craziest thing you saw?
Kandi Burruss
Man, it was so much crazy stuff. Like, I said, you know, overall, I'm gonna. I will even address some of them bloggers in that one woman show that I'm doing. Yeah, yes, yes. But I. Like, I said, I'm really gonna put it all into that show. So, you know, we're gonna take it to multiple cities and people will be able to see for themselves. But I mean, just so you know, just in fairness, to speak on what is factual that you just saw.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
I mean, you know, in the difference of this week and last week. You know, last week, they said they were saying I was paying $2 million.
Lauren LaRosa
You commented on that. I saw. You commented on that one. Right? Was that the one you commented on? You commented on something and was like, this is not true, or you came out and mentioned like, maybe that was. I saw your interview.
Kandi Burruss
Maybe I did. Maybe I did on one. I don't know who's. There's so many people reported. I don't really. Yeah, I was so annoyed. And in fairness, he was annoyed, too. You know what I mean? It wasn't like I was the only one annoyed. We both were annoyed that, you know, that's what people were running with because it was just, like, totally made up. You know what I mean? But all throughout the situation, you know, people. It was one time, like, I said something about. It was like an AI video. AI of my voice talking, like, as if it was a statement I was making, and they was, like, flashing pictures of us together. And I was like, whoa. Like, it really sounded like me. You know what I mean? So I think I posted, like. I think I said something about how, like, I was so frustrated with this whole AI thing. And it's so crazy to me how people be like, yeah, well, you the one that's talking about. And I'm like, yeah, it's such a catch 22 situation. Because if you don't say anything, then, like, one. If one blog reports it, then all of them pick it up and it's everywhere. You know, my mama and I have to answer to my mama. You know what I mean? My mama's like, why are these people saying. And I'm like, I don't know.
Lauren LaRosa
We know Mama Joyce, honey. She. You got. You have to answer to her. Okay?
Kandi Burruss
Right. But I'm just saying it's like she's been supportive through the situation. Yeah, but it's just kind of like It's a catch 22. So if you don't really reply then, you know, people are spreading the wrong narrative. And then if you do, then it's just kind of like, then people like, oh, why? She always got to feel like she got to respond. And it's just like, you know what? I can't win for losing in the situation. But at the end of the day, we're, you know, we're going to try to still come away from this situation and be the best co parents that we could be. You know what I mean? It's like we had our personal drama, which, you know, obviously that wasn't as public because neither one of us really spoke on the details of that, but just publicly, you know, at the end of the day, we're still going to try to be cool, still do things, you know, with our kids together, you know, because we want our kids to be happy, you know, we still want them to feel connected on both sides, you know.
Lauren LaRosa

change ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Here's a secret. Getting ahead of the mess with new Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Just lightly wet the counter beforehand so the paper grips and stays in place. Then lay down the Reynolds Kitchen's countertop prep paper so drips and Spills stay on the paper, not all over your kitchen counter. You can roll out dough, prep a party spread, or cook alongside family. When you're done, cleanup is as simple as lifting the paper and revealing that clean counter underneath. Effortless. You can use it for cooking and baking, prep and even crafting, especially when you need extra working space. Because when the mess is already handled, you can focus on what matters. The food, the people, and the moment. It may look effortless, but now you know, it's Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Take a tip from me. Wet it, set it, prep it, done. Make it easy. Make it with Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Available now in the Reynolds wrap aisle in Walmart.
Lauren LaRosa
How tough is that for you, for both of you guys emotionally, though? Because like you said, you were talking about as recent as. I mean, as soon as spring break. That's in a couple weeks, right?
Kandi Burruss
On our anniversary.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. So how does Todd and Candy, who have been this unit through good, bad, up, down, left, right, for all of these years, just casually get together and do spring break with the kids? And it not being an emo, emotional roller coaster, even if behind the closed
Kandi Burruss
doors, away from the kids, realistically, we still figuring it out. Like, that's all I could say because I don't really have an answer on that.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, so. So how does. How does it work now with like, because, you know, there was a whole guest house, living in the guest house conversation, he needed to leave the guest house, and they said Candy was up there evicting people. That's how they were reporting the documents.
Kandi Burruss
Once again, I'm definitely gonna have to address. I will address all of that in my one woman show. But, you know, it's just kind of like it is what it is. You know, I think for me it was like, okay, it's a gradual separation.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, gotcha.
Kandi Burruss
Meaning, like, you know, you mad. So, you know, it's like you as a woman, you know, a lot of women just, first I'll be like, get out, take it. You know, all that stuff.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Kandi Burruss
But then on the other side of that coin is like, I got kids. So how do we do this in a way to where it's not a drastic change for them? So, you know, figuring all that stuff out is, you know, I don't. I don't want to say that, you know, we know all the right things to do. Just like anybody that's going through a divorce, well, now our divorce is final. But like anybody that's going through a divorce, that was something that we were trying to figure out what's the best way to go about it. And that was just the way we went about it.
Lauren LaRosa
Have you had conversations with. I know your kids are young, Ace Blaze, you know, I know they're young, but, like, have you had conversations with them yet, or you guys have started to at all about kind of what. What that will look like, you know, because it will be so different for them.
Kandi Burruss
Todd and I are gonna be discussing that, how we're gonna do the talk, like, you know, how to navigate next steps, basically. You know what I mean? Like I said, we don't really. We don't know the perfect way to go about it. We're. We're in the process of figuring out, like, even this conversation right now with me and you is way too soaked, you know what I mean?
Lauren LaRosa
At any time, if you feel like this is triggering for you, we can definitely stop down. You know, it's no pressure. You know what I mean?
Kandi Burruss
Oh, yeah, yeah. I don't. You know, I'm not. I'm not like that, but, yeah, it is. I mean, I guess. Yeah, it would be kind of triggering that point, so. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, I mean, I don't want to keep going deep into it. I think I said pretty much what I needed to say about the situation is, like, at the end of the day, he and I are definitely trying to figure this out overall. You know, I personally wouldn't have wanted every single thing to play out in front of the public the way it did.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Kandi Burruss
But it is what it is. I mean, I don't really know how. I don't know how we could have done it differently. I mean.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, you can't harp on that, though, at this point. You know, y' all here, you just gotta, like, keep yourself together. I just feel for you. Because I started the interview with talking about, you know, how much of a. A topic and a conversation you. Your life, your businesses, your marriage, your family has been for all of these decades to kind of, you know, get back here at the end of it. To say, I think a lot of us feel for you and feel for both of y', all, because we watch both of you guys together because it is so public and everyone's so attached to your life, and this is something that if you could choose, I'm sure you would want people to disattach, so you can kind of just go through it. But we've. Everyone's been so attached for so long, so there's like. There's probably a whole Nother layer of like, oh, my God, you know, like, you gotta get up. Like, everybody just. It's just. It's a lot. It's a lot of noise, a lot of people. So, you know.
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, I understand it. I mean, that's what somebody said to me. They were like, candy, you know, everybody's been watching your journey the whole time. So, yes, you know, you can't feel away because everybody, you know, wanna. Is invested. And I'm like, true. So with that being said, you know, I'm not, you know, I'm not overly, you know, upset or anything. It's just like. It is upsetting when you're going through something and then, you know, people, like, taking information and making up stuff. And. And like I said, for me, I just be feeling like, what was the point of making that up? Like, it's just. To me, it's not like it was. So they could be the first to report something because clearly, at the time. They were saying that stuff last week, just to use that part as an example, because it's been stuff said the whole time.
Lauren LaRosa
This was the $2 million thing.
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, that and the child support, all that. Like, we don't even. We're not even doing child support, but it's just like, our stuff haven't had even been filed. The final thing hadn't even filed with the court, and they was reporting that the day before. So it was like, huh, where you getting this from? What you reading off of?
Lauren LaRosa
Like, when I saw the final settlement, I was like, this is so different than what I thought, because I'm like everybody else, you know, and I'm trying to, like, talk directly to you, but, you know, I respect if y' all are like, not right now. I respect that. But trying to do as much as I can to kind of see through the noise, I'm like. I was so confused. I was like, okay, the settlement seems, like, very amicable and, like, fair and 50, 50. But everything leading up to this point, it was like, is it. Is it not? Like, are they. Like, we were. It was. It was. It was being reported all over the place. So I was very confused, like. But I did see.
Kandi Burruss
I was confused too, because when I saw.
Lauren LaRosa
I saw no social support, no child support, it was a 50, 50 split on the custody. I'm like, that sounds like they both came together and were adults. And y'.
Kandi Burruss
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Y'.
Kandi Burruss
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Y' all good. Y' all are good enough at least to understand what needs to be done. Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
I think overall, you know, out of respect to the marriage. I would say that, you know, he and I, we did some great things together. You know what I'm saying? We. We had some great success together. So with that being said, like, for us, we need to just split that. You know what I mean? And I know, and I feel like some people just wanted it. Like some people just wanted him to go for everything I had in life. Some people wanted all of that to happen.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
But I mean, realistically, it was. That was never a conversation, you know what I mean? And, yeah, that's all I. I mean, that's all I'll say about that for now. I mean, do we have disagreements about certain things? Well, probably one thing that was like really going back and forth about. But I mean, overall, you can't tell
Lauren LaRosa
us that that's gonna be in the one woman show too.
Kandi Burruss
Yup, it's gonna be anyone. And I'm sorry to do it like that, but like, overall, like,
Lauren LaRosa
you know,
Kandi Burruss
I. I didn't really even like, plan to even talk about it more prior to then. But obviously, to be fair, you didn't
Lauren LaRosa
plan the divorce either. I saw you say you. You were planning for the rest of your life. This can't. You did not. This wasn't. It's not like got here. You were not planning for this at all this time last year.
Kandi Burruss
So. No, this time last year, that. That was the last thing on my mind. Like, this time last year, we was living our best life, planning our future, like. Yeah. So that's when you ask me how do I feel about it? I think about, dang, in one year, how my life has changed, you know?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
Well, so that's triggering. So with that, I don't want to talk about it no more.
Lauren LaRosa
Not at all.
All right, well, I appreciate you for joining me. I do hope you guys take it to other c. I know you're doing it. You're doing your one woman show in Atlanta at the city winery. It's sold out already though, right? Are you adding more night?
Kandi Burruss
It already sold out, but we are adding more dates. So I would say everybody be on the lookout.
Lauren LaRosa
I am having more dates for that right now.
Kandi Burruss
I'm super excited. It's. It's gonna be so good, y'.
Lauren LaRosa
All.
Kandi Burruss
I can't wait for you to see it. But adding more dates to I do. I did Don't Monday, the production that I'm producing on August Wilson's and August Wilson's Joe Turner to Come and Gone, starring Taraji P. Henson, Cedric and Attorney, directed by Debbie Allen, that starts on Monday.
Lauren LaRosa
So that's on. Is that Broadway?
Kandi Burruss
Yes, yes.
Lauren LaRosa
Because Debbie Allen, she came to our show and was telling us about a new show that she was doing.
Kandi Burruss
She is.
Lauren LaRosa
I remember that. Yeah. Okay. I gotta bless you.
Kandi Burruss
It's a blessing to have her as the director. I'm a producer on that, you know, so.
Lauren LaRosa
So are you gonna be at the shows in New York too, while it's happening, or do you kind of produce it, get the team ready and then.
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, as. As a producer, I don't have to be at every show. So I'll come to some of them. But yeah, I don't have to be at all of them. It ain't the same as being in it. Shout out to Taraji and Cedric. They got to be there. But yeah, so that. And then also the next move meetup is what I'm doing with. It's like people who about their business. You know, I want to talk about more about opportunities and. And how to just take things on their next move. Shoot. Hell, one of those.
Lauren LaRosa
When you were here in New York, didn't you.
Kandi Burruss
The next move made up? No. Well, I did it virtually. Okay, yeah, I'm gonna do some more. We are. We may possibly do that in other cities, but virtually, we're gonna be meeting up every month. I was like, realistically, all this stuff talking about divorce, we might have to have a meet up on how to protect yourself and all those different things too. You know what I mean?
Lauren LaRosa
The girls will come. This is. It's. It's very unfortunate to have to watch you guys go through this, but I think a lot of people are also watching you too, because we've always known you to be a woman about her business. Like, you know, like, that's. You've been that way for so long. So watching you kind of navigate the space, not even just like protecting your money, but of course that and protecting yourself. Not to make him the enemy, but more so just like how you've been carrying it. Like, even when you have conversations about it, it's still very much like it's you. It's your truth, but it's very respectful of the situation. And, you know, I think that's definitely something that people that are going through the situation are going to watch and be like, you know, this is why we love Candy so well.
Kandi Burruss
Overall, what I will say, what I can say that you ain't got to worry about waiting to show this week is that, you know, realistically, I would love for us all to be mature about how we handle breakups. You know what I mean? Because at the end of the day, it's like, obviously, as business women, as businessmen, you got to protect yourself. That's straight up right off the top. And I'm gonna tell anybody that protects yourself right off the rip, because that kind of limits the conversation of what we got to debate about. You get what I'm saying?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Kandi Burruss
And then also, it's like, try to be. Even if you have personal fallouts, especially if you have kids, like, we got grown kids and little kids. You know what I mean? So we got to be. We gotta be respectful of how we handle it, because all our kids, we want our. They're all sisters and brothers, and we want them to still feel like connected, feel like. Feel like family. And we don't want our drama to spill over into how they're feeling. You know?
Lauren LaRosa
That's true.
Kandi Burruss
So, you know, I would say to anybody that's going through a breakup or divorce, whatever it may be, try to be very mature on how you move. You know what I'm saying? Because at the end of the day, that's affecting your kids. So, yeah, I might be mad, right? I might be acting a fool at times, but they don't ever need to see. They never need to see that, you know, or. And it shouldn't affect them. So that's how I move in. And I hope, you know, if anybody takes something from this situation, looking out, from the outside, looking in, I would say, take that.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, y'. All, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. Okay, let's talk curls for a second, because you already know if you have curly or coily hair. Moisture is not optional. It's essential. Dryness is one of the biggest challenges for curly hair. And most products, they clock out after wash day. The new Ultra Moisture collection was literally designed with our hair in mind. Curls, coils, all of it powered by botanical oil and Jamaican black castor oil. Which means the science is actually doing the work. Clinically proven to help retain moisture for up to five days. Five whole days. The shampoo gently cleanses without stripping. The mask deeply conditions, and helps reduce breakage. The leave in adds a lightweight hydration with hyaluronic acid. And the curl cream defines without crunch. No sulfates, no parabens, no silicones, no mineral oils. Just nourishment without the compromise. Because here's the thing. Your hair deserves products that actually understand it. Moisture that starts at the root and keeps going. Well past Sunday, that's the Ultra moisture collection from Cantu Explore their full line Built for every curl pattern, every hair routine available now at Walmart, Target and Amazon. Go get it.

Yeah, 20 billion recovered. It's actually, I think somewhere north, probably closer to 22, 23 after this year. And each year we get bigger and batter and our army grows. So the number will hopefully keep getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
Podcast Host
Awesome. So how does someone get in contact with Morgan and Morgan?
Kandi Burruss

Martha Stewart
This is Martha Stewart from the Martha Stewart Podcast. Ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Here's a secret. Getting ahead of the mess with new Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Just lightly wet the counter beforehand so the paper grips and stays in place. Then lay down the Reynolds kitchen's countertop prep paper. So drips and spills stay on the paper, not all over your kitchen counter. It may look effortless, but now, you know, it's Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Take a tip from me. Wet it, set it, prep it, done. Make it easy. Make it with Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Available now in the Reynolds wrap aisle in Walmart.
Lauren LaRosa
One more question, because I didn't even think about Kayla and. Am I saying Kayla's name right?
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, Kayla.
Lauren LaRosa
Kayla and Riley.
Kandi Burruss
Right. Because.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, like, the older. Not the babies, your older daughters, they're out in the world. You know, Riley has a show. They're on social media. They're doing press for certain things. I saw you and Riley on the carpet. Like. Yeah, like, that's a whole different other side of it because they're. You can't even hide anything at that point because they're in the world themselves. So when these reports and those things are happening, like, I mean, I'll take it all the way back to the very beginning when things are being reported. There was the report of infidelity. Right. And you have your two older women. Not women, but I mean, I guess. Do you consider them women yet? Like, are you consider them.
Kandi Burruss
They're. They're women to the world. They still out.
Lauren LaRosa
You know how that goes.
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, but.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, so you have your two girls who. That's a different conversation for them with dad and for them with mom. And, like, whether it's true or not, how that has to be, like, even more challenging than trying to figure out the conversation with the babies, because you don't have a choice. It kind of is, like, out there for them.
Kandi Burruss
Yeah, I don't. I don't really know what Todd's conversation was with our older daughters, really, realistically. But I know overall, I just try to just say, hey, y', all, you know, we don't want y' all to feel affected by what's going on with us. You know, there's. You know, let's try to move forward, and we gotta still, you know, be respectful of each other, and it's gonna be fine. Let us deal with it. You know, What?
Lauren LaRosa
I mean, yeah.
Kandi Burruss
So. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, look, keep me posted on the dates I want to come to the show so I can be able to.
Kandi Burruss
I want you to come. Yeah, we try to put one together in New York too. So the dates will be coming very soon.
Lauren LaRosa
And I know you mentioned when you add more dates for the people to look out, where do they look out? I mean, of course they're following. They're following you on all socials, but is there a website for the one one woman show or two. Do. Do you have a personal site?
Kandi Burruss
I do have a personal site. It's candy.com, k a n-d I.com. but also, you know, follow me on all socials. And I was telling people, text me on my phone number because I always text my text family first. And that is easy. You can just text me at 4044-5894-6440-4458-9464. And I always send them the text witness come in to let them know. Like I told my text group, like, obviously my text family, I told them like two days before the tickets went on sale that it was gonna be a one woman show coming. So maybe that's why the tickets went so quick.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. Because I'm like, dang, we didn't even
Kandi Burruss
have a shot because I didn't even post it. I just sent it to my text family first and then Facebook and I didn't even post it like on Instagram or nothing.
Lauren LaRosa
But I mean, I think that that just, you know, the people are locked in. It's just that it is that.
Kandi Burruss
I appreciate that too. Y' all gotta understand. I feel like I appreciate the love, but you gotta understand sometimes when you really going through something, it'd be a lot of negativity and a lot of hate that be online and you know, and. And then you see like when something's negative posted, it seems like some people get excited about that. Like some people really was like out here acting like they was excited that they thought that, oh, he gonna do this, he gonna do that.
Lauren LaRosa
He just said, do what? Where? To who?
Kandi Burruss
But anyway, let me say much love to Ty. I feel like I'm so glad that this, this little part is done because I feel like he and I are really gonna be the best of co parents and we. We gonna be cool. Like, I. I'm really a chill person and he is too. So I feel like we're gonna be cool, especially now that everything is, you know, is what it is. You know what I mean?
Lauren LaRosa
It's like, no emotion. We never. So we're not gonna see, like, there's no doubling back. It's just, it's. It's just done. Just co parenting.
Kandi Burruss
Like, I'm such a Taurus.
Lauren LaRosa
Gotcha. For those of you who don't know what that means, that means when you locked in, you locked in. And when you are done, baby, that person has never existed. But, well, besides hearing normally, it's like
Kandi Burruss
that they never existed. But in this situation, you know, because, you know, we still gonna be connected for life. So, yeah, you know, we're always gonna be friends. We always going to be communicating. We're always going to be good.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Kandi Burruss
You know, on that.
Lauren LaRosa
But no spinning the block, y'. All. Okay? It's not going to happen. Well, I thank you for joining me. I know you got a lot going on right now, and I'm probably the last person you wanted to, you know, hear from right now.
Kandi Burruss
I was like, what are we doing?
Lauren LaRosa
I appreciate it. Look, this is just me trying to make sure we have all correct information. And I appreciate you on the Breakfast Club on the podcast like that. I try my hardest, yo. People will be like, you always answer no. I'm just trying to make sure got it right.
Kandi Burruss
I appreciate for the people who really was really trying not to just report anything about our. Our situation. I appreciate y' all and I'm thankful for that because I know it probably was hard because I'm like some people just doing it just to get clicks and, you know, they don't care what they say about us. But the people who really kind of like, you know what, I'm not really fna say anything until we have real information. I appreciate that.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, we're gonna always hold you down and you gotta come when you add the more dates. Make sure you. You gotta come to the show. They want you to come in the studio. Host: Lauren LaRosa (with The Black Effect Podcast Network & iHeartPodcasts)
Guest: Kandi Burruss
This episode centers on an exclusive, in-depth interview with Kandi Burruss as she addresses, for the first time, the finalized details and emotional realities surrounding her divorce from Todd Tucker. Host Lauren LaRosa dives into the settlement specifics, public misperceptions, co-parenting challenges, and how Kandi is handling both public scrutiny and private healing. Kandi discusses the difficulties of going through such a personal event in the public eye and hints at sharing more in her upcoming one-woman show.
[04:55] Kandi explains her feelings after the divorce was finalized:
“It was a little weird for me… when my lawyer hit me and said it was final, I was like, it feels awkward, you know what I'm saying? It's kind of strange because… we've been married for over 10 years now, and we're still communicating… so it just feels weird that… we're really not together, I guess.”
— Kandi Burruss [04:55]
She describes the transition as both “crazy” and “awkward,” especially as communication with Todd continues.
"I'll discuss more about it in the one woman show that I'm doing… I always vent creatively…"
— Kandi Burruss [06:05]
The couple has joint custody of their children —>
“We are joint custody. I know everybody said they tried to report something else last week which was not true.”
— Kandi Burruss [09:40]
Financial and property settlement:
"If we didn’t sell the properties … if I ended up with more on the property side then I just paid the difference up… So it's not like I had to pay him… we're both still equal."
— Kandi Burruss [11:53]
“There were things ... said as ... possibilities ... but him fighting a prenup was never a conversation.”
— Kandi Burruss [08:06]
"Last week, they said they were saying I was paying $2 million ... totally made up."
— Kandi Burruss [17:27]
"If you don't say anything ... one blog reports it, then all of them pick it up… If you do, then people like, oh, why? She always feel like she got to respond… I can't win for losing..."
— Kandi Burruss [18:52]
[25:09–28:46]
"Realistically, we still figuring it out… I don't really have an answer on that."
— Kandi Burruss [25:35]
"We're going to try to still come away from this situation and be the best co-parents that we could be."
— Kandi Burruss [19:09]
For older children who are already in the public eye (Riley, Kayla), Kandi keeps communication open but acknowledges some things are out of her control:
“I just try to say, ‘hey, y’all… don’t want y’all to feel affected by what’s going on with us... let us deal with it.’”
— Kandi Burruss [43:38]
Kandi emphasizes the importance of maturity and respect in navigating separation, especially with children involved:
"I would love for us all to be mature about how we handle breakups. ... Protect yourself right off the rip, because that kind of limits the conversation of what we got to debate about."
— Kandi Burruss [36:18]
On keeping the children’s well-being central:
“We wanna be respectful of how we handle it, because ... we don't want our drama to spill over into how they're feeling.”
— Kandi Burruss [36:52]
“What'd they say? If ain't nobody talking about you, then you ain't doing nothing, so.”
— Kandi Burruss [04:31]
“This time last year ... we was living our best life, planning our future, like. Yeah. So that's when you ask me how do I feel about it? I think about, dang, in one year, how my life has changed, you know?”
— Kandi Burruss [33:12]
“Let me say much love to Ty. ... I feel like he and I are really gonna be the best of co parents ... We gonna be cool, especially now that everything is, you know, is what it is.”
— Kandi Burruss [46:27]
