A lot of people couldn't afford to stay in a hotel.

Good morning. So we start this morning with a powerful storm system impacting millions across the country. So nearly 30 million people are under a winter weather alert, including blizzard conditions in cities like Chicago and Detroit. And at the same time, strong winds are hitting a much larger stretch of the country from St. Louis to Memphis, all the way up to New York City and Boston. And it's not just that about 60 million people are at risk for severe storms, including possible tornadoes from Atlanta all the way to Washington, D.C. and with more than a half a million people, they are still without power this morning from those storms. And all of this spilling into travel, with ripple effects continuing into today. So yesterday alone, and you mentioned. You mentioned this a little bit more than 4,500 flights were canceled, nearly 10,000 delayed nationwide. And those disruptions are now carrying into today. So even if you, your flight is on time, getting through the airport could be your biggest challenge. So that partial government shutdown is to blame for all of this. It is now straining TSA staff and other officers who missed a paycheck last week. Here's a TSA union leader talking about the impact. Let's take a, take a listen.

about, man, what am I going to have to do when I get off work? Some people are going to food lines, some people are working part time jobs. Some people are feeling pretty hopeless and obviously the passengers are feeling the impacts as the lines get long when their colleagues are unable to come to work because they don't have money. A lot of them don't have gas, childcare or basically no money in their accounts. And they can't borrow anything because they already did it from the previous shutdown. They just haven't recovered.

Salute to all the TSA workers. Man, I hate that y' all have to go through this man, yet again, by the way.

Yeah, and I hate that we can't give them, they can't even accept anything from passengers passing through.

Yeah, a lot of agencies, to your point, just a lot of like food banks and agencies have been collecting money and groceries and they're, they're giving away so TSA agents can go there to pick up locations and get what they need. Nationwide, more than 360 TSA officers have already quit in the past month while others, yeah. Are taking leave to pick up other work just to make ends meet. And this morning airline CEOs, they are begging congress to pay TSA workers, telling them it is difficult and nearly impossible to put food on the table, gas in the car and pay rent when you are not getting paid.

Yeah, I can see you being a TSA worker and quitting because I mean it feels like that job isn't, isn't as stable as it once was. Not, not under this administration.

And President Trump is ripping into US Allies who are refusing to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. So several key partners, including the U.K. germany, France, Italy, Australia, and Japan, say they are not sending warships to the region right now. This comes as Iran has effectively, effectively shut down the shipping lane using drones, missile missiles, and sea mines after the US Recent strikes and the Israeli strikes. And Trump says countries that benefit from that route should help protect it and is warning NATO that there could be a very bad future for them if they don't step up. But many US Allies, they are still not getting involved militarily. Let's listen to what President Trump had to say at a White House press conference yesterday.

So this morning, I want to take some time to send a rest in peace to Kiki shepherd, the longtime co host of the legendary Showtime at the Apollo, also known as the Apollo series, queen of fashion. So late last night, TMZ spoke to Kiki Shepherd's rep. Her name is Lachelle Smith. And she said that Kiki shepherd had passed away Monday and by a massive heart attack. That was completely unexpected. She was in her 70, 72 years old, I believe, and her career extended many, many years. So she worked at the Showtime. She worked at Showtime at the Apollo from 1987 to 2002. She co hosted with Sinbad, uh, Mark Curry, Monique, Steve Harvey, uh, R. Rush. She was a professional dancer before she got on Showtime at the Apollo. She was on Broadway as well. She worked with Lionel Richie, Diana Ross. She was in the Wiz. Like, she's done so many things, but I know most recently she had been doing a lot of work with her foundation called the KISS foundation, which is all about spreading awareness of sickle cell disease and just making sure that people who have sickle cell disease experience a. A good and healthy life.

All right, so yesterday I played an audio for you guys of Tiana, and, you know, she's telling somebody to leave her alone or get off her. Let's take a listen to that audio of Tiana Teller. So the Academy said, we are extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscar ceremony last night. We have worked with Teiana over the last several months during award season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community. Though the incident was with an outside security security firm. The firm is called sis. The experience of every single guest is our responsibility and they say they've made it clear to that team that that behavior was unacceptable. And they thank Teyana Taylor for showing remarkable grace and taking and say that they are taking the appropriate measures to make sure that this doesn't happen again. So we start this hour with a new court hearing happening today tied to a growing controversy involving Elon Musk, the Department of Government Efficiency, better known as doge. So at the center of it, deposition videos that are now going viral. So DOGE was created to cut federal spending with promises to slash $2 trillion from the federal deficit. Well, instead, those cuts eliminated thousands of jobs across the federal workforce. It canceled more than $100 million in grants, many tied to education, history, and community programs. And so, for the first time, we're hearing under oath how those government cuts were made and hearing directly from the people behind them. So in the deposition footage coming out in a civil lawsuit, it reveals that staffers, they use ChatGPT to help identify which grants to cut. And we're also learning that some of the people involved in making these cuts had little to no experience working in the government. Let's listen.

And on top of prices going up and. And, you know, just the way the world is going with the economic downturn and things like that, people, Thousands of people seem to have lost their jobs for absolutely no reason. Those moments are now fueling backlash as those videos continue to spread online. So the Trump administration, they went to court to get those videos taken down, saying that people in them were getting death threats. So that young man that you just heard, him and another young man were getting death threats. A judge agreed to. To take those videos down. But now that decision is being challenged. And so that's what's happening at the hearing today. The groups behind that lawsuit, they want the videos put back online, saying taking them down violates free speech. So, yeah, we'll see what happens with that. Later today. And we're learning new details this morning about an officer involved shooting in Dallas now raising serious concerns about security tied to Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. So police say the man shot and killed had been working as part of Crockett security detail. Investigators have identified him as 39 year old diamond Robinson, who they say he was using the alias Mike King while working in that role. Crockett confirming in a statement her team also knew him by that name. Now here's how the shooting unfolded. Police say they tracked Robinson to a hospital parking garage line last week where he barricaded himself inside a vehicle. Now, after the standoff, officers use tear gas to try and get him out. They said when he came out, he pulled a weapon, officers opened fire and they killed him at the scene. Police say Robinson had multiple warrants and was operating under a security company they say now never existed. Let's listen to some of the press conference that Dallas police held yesterday.

And so those that agency does not

exist within the federal government. So that's who he portrayed to be.

He was very good at hiding his true identity. And through great police work from the

intelligence unit and the Irving Police Department, we were through technology able to determine who his real identity was. But he had been living this for many years. We executed a search while worn on Mr. Robinson's apartment that afternoon and recovered

additional badges and additional firearms.

What got them hip to what was going on? Like how did they even get a clue of what was happening?

And that's the question that they were asking at the press conference. And so the police were. They were kind of vague. But what I picked up was he had did another job with another officer who had noticed maybe a stolen vehicle. And they started running information on that vehicle and it was coming back weird. And so they started doing some more investigation. They said they're going to do another press conference because I think that is the question what led to him being captured in the first place? How did. How did they even find out that this was going on? I think that's the overall umbrella that people are still wanting to know. But what makes this story even bigger this morning is just not the shooting, but the apparent breakdown in the vetting process. And so Crockett says her office, they followed House protocols when hiring him. But also calls it deeply alarming that someone using an alias was able to pass through the system and work in a role this sensitive Absolutely, yeah.

Somebody told me and I don't know how true this is, but they said that he had been under investigation for a couple of years. And you know, because of what you just said to me about the vehicle or something being stolen from off a military base or something like that.

Yeah, but you under investigation, but you still around me the whole time. They don't tell me who he's supposed to quote, unquote be protecting.

But also he was clearly really good because if you're able to circumvent the vetting processes, you know, for something sensitive is security for members of Congress, you must be really, really good. Yeah, yeah.

There's a lot of questions surrounding how he was able to not only full Congress, full, you know, full police departments, make up fake agencies. He was training police officers. There was a lot happening here that no one ever caught. So they are, they are investigating that this morning. And finally, if you've ever delivered for Walmart, Walmart, you could have some money headed your way. So the company is now paying $100 million to settle claims that it misled drivers about how much they would earn, including tips. So about $79 million of that is going back to drivers who worked for Walmart's Spark app, their delivery app, app. So a regulator say some drivers, they were promised one amount but ended up making less, especially when those orders were split or they were changed. The Walmart says it's already started sending out those payments. If you think you're eligible, you haven't received a payment. They said to check your Spark delivery app, your email or you can contact support to see if there's any money waiting for you. I know we could all use some

The throwback soul record, but with the Caribbean influence. And if I put some little soul man stuff on it. You put that white soul on it.

Just to get, you know, a lot of the inner city youths out of Jamaica and reggae artists. Because so many of our artists, their intellectual properties are owned by other people throughout the whole. Whole thing. So we try to get them on the right track and just, like, kind

And. And that's one of them things I say, yo, y' all gotta watch this. You know, I mean, because Clarence was instrumental in a lot of people that y' all didn't really know, you know, I mean, so. Yeah, and. And, you know, Bill with us. You know, the thing with Bill is he didn't really put out a huge catalog. It wasn't really massive. But those songs are probably some of the most recurrent songs through decades.

Well, he's one of the greatest poets we've ever had.

I mean, I remember, if you. If you got to see his documentary, I'm. I Am Bill, or something like that. And you. Even when he speaks, he doesn't talk much.

But every time he speaks, there's poetry in it. There's so much meaning and. And value to his words that he doesn't waste. He doesn't waste words, you know, and that. That was something that I really appreciated.

And he's a lot of people's favorite, too. I mean, he's actually Sting, one of Sting's favorite artists. Him and I, we'd be on stage together, we'd be doing songs like, with him.

Because the lyrics, too. I mean, musically and lyrically, he's just one of the best.

Yeah, we think it's, like, grown, you know, it's grown and sexy, but it's got the Caribbean influence. And most of my records playing on urban ac. So I think there's a home for it there. But there's also, you know, with his big pop, you know, massive records, when he crosses over, it plays everywhere. And when I hear it, I feel like I'm on vacation with the pina coladas. You know what I mean? It just gives me that. And especially everything right now, like, anytime we can just have a. But it's just meant to make you feel good. We're not trying to reinvent the wheel here. We're just trying to make you feel good. It is a feel good record.

But in my history of doing records, you know, when you're a reggae, there's, you know, I heart's got what, 800 station. How many of them are reggae station 00. So how did a guy like me get on. On radio with that many hits and sold that many records over the years?

Is really.

Because I put these records that once something happened and it becomes huge, it kind of crosses all formats because nobody really know where to put me.

That's kind of a.

It's like, well, he's reggae, he's poppy.

That's how I was when I first came out. And they didn't. They wouldn't play me a pop radio. So they said, let's try him@urban ac. Let's try him at grown black radio. And that's where I broke was. Yeah. In D.C. on. On urban AC radio is where Lost without yout broke. And that's. That's where I've played most of my careers, on adult black radio.

That sucks too, though, because when you think of a song called lost without YouTube, you. We used to have the quiet storm.

But when it started, started on mix shows, on some dance hall, and then ended up just becoming. And then a guy in Hawaii played in, and it just became this massive thing.

When I hear y' all talk about music, man, y' all sound like scientists. Yes.

It is calculated.

Yeah. Yeah. For me, I don't feel like people have that type of passion no more, man.

Well, you know what? I think we're living in a. A time that's a fast time. Everything is done like real quick, you know, I mean, when you.

When you look at.

And there's all this equipment to help you. Them, you know, I mean.

Well, I think there's always. Every generation we have the. It ain't as good as the last. You know, the grown heads are always saying that and the young heads are saying it's better than it was. But there's always great artistry mixed in the fluff. You know, there's always, like, you look at Olivia Dean. I mean, that's, you know, there's, there's. There are these artists that are still making something brand new from their hearts and their experiences. And that stuff lasts the test of time. Otherwise, you know, some of it is just supposed to make you feel good and make you dance and make you have a good time, you know, and those things come and go. But the real artists that are coming from their heart and have something to say. Yeah, there's. There's always a love.

Ones with the love. You got that love for it. You'll find that real.

That's why obsessed with.

When I think about AI too, and people talking about AI, I'm like, I think it's actually going to be good in a way because it's going to really let the cream rise to the top.

But to last, you really have to have a craft and an obsession and the love for the game and the music to make it last.

Because even when I heard you talk about Bill Withers, Robin, you said he was a poet and you talked about his lyrics. I feel like nowadays people just want to get the beat, make a melody. Don't even care what the hell they say on the record.

Yeah. As long as it feels good. But, you know, some people do have something to say. They still got something to say.

Well, I think relatability is also. When I write my records, I try to be as relatable as possible. You know, I'm saying the thing, when you think about listening to Grandma Hands, that's, that's, that's your life.

And, and, and for me, it has to mean something to me for me to release it, you know, so I've gone through and, and when you write, you know, you write 40, 50 songs and some of them you're going for the dance floor someday. But then by the time you get to the end of the project, you realize what matters and what means something to you. So I have a, I have a almost finished album that I'm trying to drop this year. And for me right now, you know, my kids inspire me and, and I came from a divorced family when I was seven years old. And so right now what's most important to me is not repeating the cycle of broken home. You know what I mean? So everything on my album is about the effort to, to keep a family together and, and not repeat those cycles we come from.

[Charlamagne Tha God]

Always hear comedians say that, you know, they, in between stand ups, they have to live life.

[Robin Thicke]

Yeah.

[Charlamagne Tha God]

Like they can't just go out there and go on stage and be funny and just give you material. Like they have to live life. Is that the same for you?

[Shaggy]

Yeah.

[Robin Thicke]

You got to go. And I think what I'm learning at this stage in my life is that the hardest things I've had to face have made me a better man and a stronger man and a better friend. The hardest things.

[Charlamagne Tha God]

Things.

The most difficult challenges have made me stronger and better. So now I embrace those challenges. I think that's what happens with age, is that you don't take failure so seriously. Failure is just part of, of the grind. It's just part of life, you know, as opposed to when you're young and something goes wrong, you're like, that's the end of my career. That's the end of my life. Now I've, I've been through so many ups and downs. I can just enjoy this. Like I just wake up and go, thank you, God. Thank you, God for this is going to be a great day, and I'm. Have a good time.

I'm soaking it up in this age, and I'm just like, wow, it's been a ride. And gratitude is a big part of it.

Yeah. Well, I've realized that if you feel. If you have gratitude in your heart, then you can't really feel anything else. At the same time, you can't be selfish. You can't be negative. If you're in a state of gratitude, then nothing's wrong, really, because you're grateful for what God has given you.

How does it reflect where you are musically now versus the Robin Thicke we heard a decade ago?

[Robin Thicke]

Well, it's still. I'm always trying to make black music. You know what I mean? Trying to make soul music. I'm trying to. I mean, that's what I grew up on. That's who I love. And those are my favorite singers. So I'm. I'm always trying to be a part of that culture. So, you know, and I. And I. I like making love songs. I mean, in the end, it's.

It's.

[Robin Thicke]

They're almost all geared towards making love work and making love last.

[Charlamagne Tha God]

Do you hear how Robin Thicke answered that? Robin Thicke said, I'm always trying to make black music. He said he's. I forgot how you said. But you said you're part of a culture.

I want to be. Yeah. You know, I mean. And I think that's why I have some barbecue status.

R and B album. And, like, he did an interview, and he said that the music made him blacker or something like that. Like, like, like, what are your thoughts on the situation as a. As a white person who's been accepted in the space for so long?

Well, for me, I think that's just, you know, it all starts from inspiration. You know, I grew up in the Eddie Murphy, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, 80s, you know what I mean? So to me, that. That was the pinnacle of art and greatness and Michael Jordan. I mean, all that. So those are the people I had on my wall, you know? And so I've always, honestly and from the bottom of my heart wanted to be a part and be accepted into that world and culture because I respect and admire and love it so much.

[Charlamagne Tha God]

And I also think that what helps you is the music was good. Good. Yes. No disrespect the Jack. So the music ain't that good. Like, the music has to be good. Especially if you are of another race doing that music. They got to hear it and be like, oh, that's a bop.

[Robin Thicke]

Yeah.

You know?

[Robin Thicke]

No, you know, you can't. You can't fool it. You know what I mean? You got to. You got to come. Come real. But I think what he's doing is. I think it still shows love for the game. It still shows love for the culture and then everybody else. It's all perspective after that, you know,

Robin, did all the controversy around Blurred Lines impact you. You creatively in any way? Just your approach to the game?

[Robin Thicke]

I'm sure it does.

It's. Whether it's subliminal or, you know, or overt. But I think in the end, I. I don't really. I always have to have enough faith in myself that another great song is coming. The next great song is coming. Just keep feeling, keep sharing. Luckily, you know, I can sing. So sometimes, like, with this record, I really didn't add that much writing. He sent me the record, and I was like, man, this sounds. This sounds great. I would love, you know, let me just sing this and see how I sound on it. And, you know, like I said, we're not reinventing the wheel with this one. But with. But I do. I do just keep telling myself, today could be the day you write another loss without you. Today could be the day you write Another Sweetest love or whatever. One of your best. And so you just keep hitting the piano and keep hitting it, you know, and then sooner or later, something will come up.

Yeah. When you got that kind of catalog, I mean, you can eat forever.

You know, just those little things he would tell me that would help me take my records from one notch to the next, but really, his friendship and his guidance and his connections and everything I miss. He was like my second father, you know?

A young singer who was more like a pot, like a dancer, who could sing, you know, from down in Orlando. And he came to listen to records for that guy, and I played him a couple songs, and I sang live. And he was like, wait a second.

Are you making an album? So from that moment, we just started working on my album, and he became my best friend from that moment on.

And then the blah, blah, then the record, then the other songs that have a lot of, you know, truth and. And importance to you, they. They don't get heard, you know, so. So I just want to get it right. And this at least is like a. It's just a nice intro. You know, it's just a swing out to the fences to go, hey, we're out here. We're making music. We're feeling good.

I'm like, oh, and then you had sex. Came back up, followed up with sex therapy. And I think that's where you were at that point in your life to make that type of music. How did you know when you wanted to get married again?

Well, you know, we, we had a lot of love very early and we wanted to start a family early, so we had three kids in three years. And so it was more.

Yeah, yeah, we were Netflix and no chill. But yeah, I think that, I mean we were together so it wasn't really about the marriage as much as we wanted to start a family. And then once we had the three kids, I wanted to wait until the kids were old enough to see us get married because if they got married, if we get married when they're one years old, they don't have any recollection memory, but at least they were six and seven years old old. So the girls got to walk the aisle and you know, and all that. So now it's a real memory for the whole family.

That close behind each other, you get no sleep. That close an age behind.

It's crazy.

Amen. I heard you mention earlier that, you know, you, your parents had gotten divorced and you didn't want to recreate that. So did you feel like, I don't know, a failure?

Well, I already did. Yeah. Because, because, you know, all, it didn't work and, but our son is thriving and doing great. She's an incredible mom. I, I'm trying to be an incredible dad. And so now I don't want to do that again, especially with three kids and I'm made and that didn't work. And so it's just about. And you learn, you know, you learn that there's some things I could have done better and some things were just meant to be. Like, I do love my life and I love that I have three extra kids, you know, and that wasn't something that necessarily Paul and I were going to do is have more children. So it all worked out in, in the best way for, for us separately. But, but yeah, I think you just, you're learning along the way, you know, and, and like I said, the harder things get, once you get through that, you're only stronger and you're only better, you know, and you love yourself more. I think this is finally the period of my life where I'm learning to just love myself as opposed to to search for love from everyone else and search for affirmation. The patriarchs that I wanted to impress and, and, and hang out with are gone. So now, you know, it's like it's all up to me to try to find that inspiration and, and, and, and do it for my kids.

So they can have a great life and, and lead by example. That's the thing that I realized I was messing up is I got to lead by example. You can't just tell them what to do and then go act like a fool. You have to lead by example.

And I guess nobody ever talks about that when it comes to you. When you think about probably the levels of grief you experienced. Right. Your father and then Andre, I went

through, I do a speech on stage. I had these years where I got divorced and sued. Then my father passed, then my manager passed, then my house burned down.

[Robin Thicke]

Then Andre Harrell passed. That was five years in a row of tragedy, tragedy, tragedy, tragedy, tragedy. And you know, I almost, that's what I was saying. I almost lost. It was looking into my kids faces every day and saying, you know, this is worth being your very best for them.

What do you think God was trying to show you in that five Years, man.

[Robin Thicke]

I think God was saying you've had it fairly easy up till now. Even though you thought you struggled, you struggled internally. You still had a good father, a good mother, you know, good schools, lots of friends, a nice voice. You know what I mean? And so I think that that was just. Who are you when you're challenged? Who are you when the road gets rough?

You know?

And now I've found out that I like myself better now. That I went through those times than I did when I hadn't gone through them and thought I. I deserved more. I was entitled to a certain life. Now I don't feel that I'm entitled to anything. I feel like I have to earn everything I get.

This is the final question. Do you regret putting out blur lines?

[Robin Thicke]

Oh, no, of course not. I mean, still, when I perform, that's the. That's the magic. Like, I wait till the end and as soon as I go, everybody get up the effort. Look R B show to a dance show, you know. And so I think that it's more about. My goal is to make the audience feel good. And that song is still one of the tops. You know, When I perform, that makes people feel good. So I don't care what else came with it as long as the people feel it there.

There are many songs that I've done that I've lost. 100 publishing. Like even on Angel.

Wow. Yeah.

Because I. You couldn't get dance hall and reggae on radio, so I had to use samples and 000 interpolations to get on radio. And I mean. And so I knew. You know, they're like five avenues of income. You know. I mean, you got. You got the writer's part.

But then it's a new master. So you get in the master portion. You get in the sinks.

And in the grand scheme of things, what happened with that song pales in comparison to everything else, I would think.

And it was illegal for him to possess a handgun because his rap sheet was longer than Sarah Jessica Parker's face. Okay? He had a 2012 felony conviction for battery on a law enforcement officer. He was convicted of dui, disorderly conduct, theft, resisting an officer, okay. With violence, and violating probation. So, yeah, he had no business with a gun. Okay? Now it's two other things that are bothering me about this story. One, they didn't tell us what else? Okay. What else was this dude on? Well, number one, it's a life organ, so you really don't know. And they give you, like, a male score, so they don't really tell you. And it's kind of based on necessity. And you know what your needs are. Being that I'm more functional and I'm at 19. So it pushed me a little further down the list than someone who's bedridden and more critical and different things.

But at one point, I came up

to here because this is I heart. So I thought y' all could hook me up, so that's why I'm here. No medical equipment.

So for people, people that don't know, explain to them to what happened with. With you while you needed her because you were perfect health in the gym, me and you were going city to city doing shows. And then all of a sudden, something happened.

I had a heart attack. And it started when Jesse was there when we did the State Farm, and she saw Me on the side of the thing.

She was like.

She was making jokes like, rick, what's wrong with you, man?

That's when I didn't know what was going on.

So I had a heart attack. And that was right before I did the Apollo show. Just been killing me the whole time. When I. I had the blue hat on, she was killing me.

Big shout out to the Mayo Clinic. I was living in Arizona for like six months on a list getting well enough to even just come back out. And big shout out to LIJ.

So. And you said, you're harder that 19%. Yeah. What is it? I don't know. This is gonna be a stupid question, but what does it need to be at the function?

Why did they say you had the heart attack? Was it a particular reason or congenital heart failure?

So I have congenital heart failure, which means that, you know, it's inherited. So I got it from my dad, apparently.

And then all you do is keep going and keep going and keep going. Like all you do is working. Like, I mean, all you do is work. So did you have down time? Did you give yourself down time in between that? Because you have ambulance at every show?

Honestly, I have to. And if you notice, the American Heart association was at the Apollo. We teach cpr.

A lot of that.

It has to be like that. So I have a helm nurse and healthcare provider. I keep constantly going back in. So some days are really, really good and some days are just really, really bad.

But do you add to it from. Keep going. Like you just. All you do is work.

I really had to take it down. So I do one show at a time and said like, when we did the Wild N Out tour and I produced the whole Wild N Out tour, he was going 30 cities, 40 cities at a time and selling off the garden in like three weeks. But now it's like, do one show, pull back and, you know, check your health to make sure I want to be.

Because when I was in the hospital, I thought I wasn't honestly coming out. I really thought that it was just this was it. I was like, I was praying. I was getting my will together. So it was, hey, oh, wow.

I called Rip one day and Rip sounded so damn bad. I'm like, I gotta go see this brother, man. I drove from Long Island. They let me in, but I said, I gotta go see him because I just felt it just. You just heard it in his voice. And Rip, somebody that speak to him, you in. When I got there, I. I didn't know Rip Michael's real name, so I got there like an idiot. But I'm here to see Rip Michael. They like, there is no Rip Michaels. I'm calling Rip. Rip. Don't answer.

Yeah, when you just get recently married and you, you, you go through, you know, Something that traumatic, like, it's a lot. You know, one day you're married, your husband's fine, because it's a general. I didn't know. I didn't know. You know, that's nothing I was doing. I wasn't eating bad. It wasn't a diet I could fix. It was just because my mom just, like, I guess chose to do with bad and a good heart.

My arteries are aging faster than me, but it's literally just all hereditary. My uncle had mad heart surgeries, my dad, like. Like, just in my family.

I wasn't really upset about it. It's just when you get. You know. Because first of all, I went in. I'm thinking, I'm gonna be fine. I'm thinking that, you know, I'm going in there. I'm thinking they're just going, you know. You know, it's an artery thing. I'm thinking it's cholesterol. I'm thinking it's like, you know, okay, cool. I'm gonna get a second. Get a stand. I'm saying, oh, you'll get a stand. People telling me about the process, and then when they were doing the right heart calf, they literally. Because when they take it and go in your thing and show your heart, and they literally just stopped everything when

they put the thing.

And it was. The whole ER and cardiac team just ran in. It was just like, no, no. And then from that moment on. And I did that by myself. So it was just a. And just to hear that, and then it was like, who do you want to call?

Because you're not coming out of this for a very long time. And it just. Thank God they held my hand. I was.

So to process that. Because the one thing in life you think is that when you go through something like that, you're gonna have somebody there.

And it was just me and God. And I thank God for my daughter, because she literally, every day. Every day she was there, she took off and almost flunked out of school trying to be there for me. So to answer your question, to work through it, you know, I had to understand. Understand because you know, your own issues, but you got to understand other people's issues. To be married and your husband, like, a four or five months later just in the hospital, what. How do you deal with that?

What do you do? Sickness in the health. Like, how do you. How do you even get trust? How do you rebuild trust to even want to be with her after that?

[Rip Michaels]

Communication and understanding, everyone's understanding of what that is. Like, not every. Everyone can deal with that. Right. Right away, you know, my wife is diagnosed with bipolar older syndrome. You met my wife a million times, so. And you know, her explaining everything and what it was for her and understanding her side. Like, we got a whole podcast about it now called kind of sort of Married, so.

And then also, like you said, kind

of sort of, because we talk about the whole thing and how we got through it.

It does, man. Because, like, to be totally honest with y', all, when I was in the hospital, I lost. Lost my health insurance, so. And I'm sad. So to get. In my humble opinion, she is worthy of honoring for her resilience and overcoming grief. Remember, she lost a boyfriend and he was murdered or whatever, and she used poetry for her emotional healing. I feel like she serves as an authentic, relatable role model who keeps herself together while dealing with her trauma. And through all, her vulnerability and growth, helps her to open up herself to love again. With Lucky, played by Tupac, of course. And despite her fear and her past, you know, she showcased a journey of healing. So poetic salute to you, shorty. Because it's real, you know, like women. Women go through that, you know what I mean? And I know a lot of women that didn't lost their men, and, you know, they think it's impossible to love again. But, you know, know, just if you just say a couple poems, you know, I'm saying really have an outlet, you know, her outlet was poetry, you know, and then our car broke down. She had to get to this convention, and, you know, she ended up with the love of her life, Lucky, and she ended up, you know, doing this daughter's hair because she was a hair stylist.
