Jessica
What's up? I feel good, yo. I love my husband so much. So, look, I've been riding around with a dirty ass G wagon for maybe like three weeks now, right? Because it's not my job to get my car washed or to fill it up on gas, right? So I just. Out of nowhere, I haven't even said anything to him because his truck been dirty too. But I walked to my truck this morning and it was super clean detail. In, out, everything. It smells good in there. Got the air freshener. I'm like, oh, so much as he should.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes, yes.
DJ Envy
That's one of my jobs. I do that for my wife and my daughter. I make sure their cars are clean and they got gas in it.
Jessica
Now that's a lot of cars. So I know the. I know you got a membership at a car wash.
DJ Envy
I definitely do. Yeah, I definitely do. Or they come by the crib. Either, either, either or they already come by the crib.
Jessica
Yes. But that. That just warmed my heart this morning. I just love, like Chris always does, you know, things like that unexpected. But like, I really. If. If I got past this week, I was. Shut up, Charlemagne. If I got past this week and it wasn't clean. Oh, I was jumping on his ass like, yo, what's up with that?
Charlamagne Tha God
That's right.
Jessica
Yeah.
DJ Envy
It's been nasty. It's been snow with the weather.
Charlamagne Tha God
A Mexican husband, he ain't working.
Stephanie Young
Shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I agree with you. I am.
DJ Envy
Put his headphones on.
Charlamagne Tha God
That is what I'm talking about.
DJ Envy
Tell him to put his headphones on.
Jessica
Shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
What?
DJ Envy
So, Chris, our board op is feeling under the weather. Good morning, Chris. The board up is feeling under the weather. I'm in Austin, Texas. I tell you how to go to Austin.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, okay. How was it this weekend? Right? Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
DJ Envy
I'm back tonight. I'm back tonight. But I was telling you, Chris, Al bought up. It was good. I'm gonna tell you, Chris, our boredom was under the weather. And this was the first time in probably 20 years that when I was flying, my stomach just didn't feel right. Like, it felt queasy. It was the first time I thought I was gonna do a number two on a plane. Like, if my stomach was back, I
Charlamagne Tha God
didn't know what it was.
DJ Envy
And then when I just spoke to Chris this morning, he said he had, like, a little stomach bug. So I don't know, maybe there's a stomach bug going around the station or whatever.
Charlamagne Tha God
But I didn't do the number two.
DJ Envy
But I didn't do a number two. But I almost did.
Jessica
Cramping, but it ain't no bug or nothing like that. I'm good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Was it something you ate?
DJ Envy
I don't know.
Jessica
Now you sit right next to Red, so it probably, you know, all of that stuff is airborne. All the little stomach virus crap.
DJ Envy
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
I just walked in. I don't know why y' all talking about y' all bowels, but. Okay. God.
Jessica
I was talking about my good morning, washing my car and filling my tank up unexpectedly. And I walked out to it this morning. I was like, oh, my God.
Charlamagne Tha God
Whatever. You've been with him long enough. He's a working man. Okay, Dropping the food Bump Chris and all Mexicans out there. Where's the bomb? Eddie, Eddie, you're not paying attention. Jesus Christ.
DJ Envy
He loves his wife. That's why he did it. He loves his wife. That's the reason why he loves his wife.
Charlamagne Tha God
Also today, tickets go on sale for the Black Effect Podcast Festival, and we'll be announcing the rest of the lineup later on today in the show. And we have Angela. Renee Simmons will be joining us this morning.

Charlamagne Tha God
Now she decides she wanted the music. You know what I'm saying? It's Reverend Run daughter Angela. Angela been around for a long time, but she's doing music now. So she's got a single called Run to with Jada, Correct? Yes.
Jessica
Love it.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So. So we're gonna be Talking about all of that.
DJ Envy
Yep. We got front page news. Let's start off the show since Rev Run's daughter's gonna be here. Let's do Jagged Edge, Rev Run, let's get married. Puts us in a happy mood this morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Great record.
DJ Envy
It's the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning.
DJ Envy
Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in news.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know one thing. Angela better not come in here today rapping like a reverend.
Clayton Echard
What you mean?
Charlamagne Tha God
I do not.
DJ Envy
My name is Angela.
Charlamagne Tha God
That would be crazy.
Jessica
I know. That's crazy.
DJ Envy
What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning. How y' all doing this morning?
Stephanie Young
Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Black and highly favorite.
Mimi Brown
Good morning. So we start this morning with a security warning involving California and the growing conflict in Iran. So the FBI has alerted police departments across California that Iran may have discussed launching a surprise drone attack on the West Coast. Now, according to a federal alert, intelligence officials, they received information earlier this year suggesting that drones could be launched from a ship somewhere off the US coast, potentially targeting locations in California if the United States carried out strikes against Iran. Now, authorities say they do not know when an attack could happen or how it might be carried out or what locations would even be targeted. Yes, but right now, and right now, it's very important to note that there is no confirmed plot and no known imminent threat. Still, the warning, it was shared with local law enforcement agencies across California so they can remain alert and tensions overseas as tensions overseas continue to rise. So President Trump, he was asked about that warning and that alert, and here's what he had to say.
Charlamagne Tha God
Heard about this bulletin that some law enforcement put out about a possible Iran revenge plot in California where there would be some kind of a boat offshore launching drones towards the biggest investigator. But you have a lot of things happening, and all we can do is take them as they come and if they try to hit us back. Have you been briefed about how many Iran sleeper cells there could be inside the US Right now? I have been. And a lot of people came in through Biden with his stupid open border, but we know where most of them are. We've got our eye on all of them. I think after seeing how this administration handled Covid, you know, way back when, I have zero faith in their ability to keep America safe and keep us abreast of, you know, potential terroristic threats on our soil.
DJ Envy
And that's very scary. And I wouldn't just worry about California. I'd worry about every state. Yeah, like when they were attack they're going to attack anywhere that they could possibly get. So it's not just California, New York, Times Square, Atlanta, any.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm scared for everybody, but if I agree with you. But they're focused on California because there's intelligence that suggests a potential threat could be happening in California involving drones.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, right. Well, some officials now believe those strikes though may have been damaged in Iran, their ability to carry them out because of the US over there and their, their missiles. They say they may have destroyed some of a launch pass that they were hoping to use to strike some of the US but we don't know that for sure. California officials say they are taking the warning very seriously. Governor Gavin Newsom says state emergency services are working with local agencies to monitor the situation and protect communities. Let's listen to that.
Charlamagne Tha God
As it relates to drone strikes, we've been aware of that information. We've been working collaboratively through the soc, which we established right after the war began, the state operations center, working with the office emergency Service, but also working locally to make sure we transmit any information that we have received. And we're aware of that which has been reported, I think by ABC7. We're aware of that information and we transfer that information in real time to our local partners. Drone issues have been always top of mind and we've assembled work groups specifically around those concerns. When they say drones, I wonder what they mean. Because when we think drones, we think the casual drones people be using to take pictures and such. I know that's what they not talking about. Nah, I know that's not what they talk about. Not at all.
Mimi Brown
They can't. Some sort of high tech drones, I'm sure. But in Los Angeles county, the Sheriff's department says it has raised its level of readiness and increased patrols around places of worship, cultural institutions, just out of caution. And with the Oscars taking place this weekend in Hollywood, law enforcement sources say security around the event has been significantly increased. And authorities, they do stress again, there's no specific threat to Los Angeles or the Oscars, but they are warning. But they say the warning is just a reminder that, you know, conflicts as they grow overseas, it's best to be secure here and stay vigilant and stay prepared.
Charlamagne Tha God
How can we trust that though? Because, I mean, if I was trying to make a statement, you know, California, Los Angeles, Oscar weekend, it's gonna be a lot of people gathered, doing a lot of different things. That's why I would want to make a statement. How can I just trust law enforcement when they tell me everything's all good.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, it's, it's, it's, with everything that's going on, it's really scary to trust anything right now. So. But we will continue to watch that. And the war in Iran, though, is pushing gas prices higher. We've talked about that. But there are warning signs that it could get even worse. So Iran says that the oil prices could jump to $200 a barrel if the Strait of Hormuz stays closed. And if oil can't get there, get through there, the global supply tightens and that is what will raise gas prices. So the federal government, they said they are going to try and keep prices from spiking. So Energy Secretary Chris Wright, he says the US will release 172 million barrels oil from the emergency oil supply. That's in an effort to help bring those prices back down. And the oil will start being released next week, though it could take a few months to fully reach the market for you to fully fill it. So that is expected to start next week. And lastly, in other news for this hour, here's a sentence that I didn't expect to say this morning. President Donald Trump says if influencer turned boxer Jake Paul ever decides to run for Congress, he would have Trump's complete and total endorsement. Let's listen, Jake, you gotta come up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Come here. Come on. You gotta. Mr. Trump, we need more factories like this thriving all over the country.
DJ Envy
And I know he's going to be
Charlamagne Tha God
the one to bring that here to us.
Clayton Echard
I know God is with us.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know he wants us on the right side of history. And everyone here has to do their part. And God's got us.
Caller
Trump's got us.
Charlamagne Tha God
God bless. Love you, Kentucky. I'm going to make a prediction that
Caller
you will be in the not too
DJ Envy
distant future running for political office.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you have my complete and total endorsement. Okay. And we don't have time for this type of seriousness right now. Okay. What's hilarious is Trump is the example of why this shouldn't happen. And all I mean, and all he did say was that he could run. He could run. That don't mean. That don't mean anything. People have to vote for him.
Mimi Brown
Yes. But I also think, more importantly, Trump was in Kentucky to campaign against Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, who has been critical of Trump as well as push, you know, the release of the Epstein file. So he's working with the person who's running against him to try and get him to get Massey out of office.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think Thomas Massey going to be okay, because Thomas Massey is On the right side of history. And I think that is way more Republicans with common sense than it is the maga cult. Like lunatics.
Mimi Brown
Okay, well, we shall see. Yeah, exactly. Well, coming up at 7. After more than a year of pressure on target, some say the boycott is ending, but others disagree. We're going to talk about it in the next hour.
DJ Envy
All right, everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. This is your time to get it off your chest. Keep calling. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello?
Jessica
Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo, this Duke Dukes.
DJ Envy
Get it off your chest.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's going on, y'? All? How y' all doing?
Jessica
Good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Less black and highly favored. How are you, sir? I'm all right.
Caller
Could be a little bit better.
Charlamagne Tha God
I was calling this morning, man, just, you know, give a little bit of
Caller
awareness to everyone, man, just to keep up on their life insurance. My sister passed last week.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sorry. Condolences to you and your family, man. Yeah, I appreciate it, y'. All. It's just one of those things to where we have to pay for the
Caller
funeral out of pocket. And my, my father, he paid for
Charlamagne Tha God
majority of it, but we still left with a balance. So I, I, I gotta GoFundMe on my page, man. If anybody want to go on and
Caller
donate to it so we can get the rest of her funeral page, man, that'd be awesome.
DJ Envy
Definitely, brother.
Charlamagne Tha God
She wasn't keeping up on her life insurance. Would you. You started off talking about life, but
DJ Envy
she didn't have any.
Caller
Well, yeah, my sister ain't had none at all, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
She was just living life without it, you know?
Caller
And that, that just made me think,
Charlamagne Tha God
you know, I mean, I, I was like, damn. I had let mine collapse one time. So that, that day I went back, you know, and, and re. Got my, my, my life insurance, man. But that's good, you know, we still got to raise.
Jessica
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
So my Facebook page, my GoFundMe is
Caller
on my Facebook page. My name is Mike L. Dukes. Mike L. Dukes.
Charlamagne Tha God
If anybody want to own.
Caller
I already raised 600.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm, like, maybe like 5,000 short. But if anybody want to go on my Facebook page, my name is Mike L. Dukes. I got on orange and blue and I have on a white hat.
Caller
Y' all probably see my sister. She's at the top of my page.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, definitely, nobody want to donate. Well, definitely. Yeah, man. Good luck. Mike. And definitely send the healing energy to you and your family, my brother.
Jessica
Yes, sir.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, sir.
Caller
I appreciate y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All. Yes, sir. Thank you, Mike.
DJ Envy
And anybody out there listening, I just want to tell you, you know, if you get insurance early, it's very, very inexpensive. Like, close to like 20, $30 a month. $20 a month, which can. Which can help you out later on. And if you do have a little extra money, and this might sound a little morbid, but me and my wife, I paid for me and my wife's casket and burial. Burial, all that already, just in case. That's just one thing my kids and family don't have to worry about.
Jessica
That is great, Joe. And. And I. I don't think people know that life insurance can be that cheap. That's another reason why people don't have it like that. My mother went through that when my aunt died. We didn't know. The family didn't even know. She didn't have life insurance. And my mother, you know, had to bury her. And it was. It was a lot. So.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Jessica
People don't really. They don't live for, you know, long term. They just live in their lives, and that's gonna affect the family when they gone later, you know, trying to put them in the ground.
DJ Envy
So get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need the event, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Caller
I got an indoor pool.
Charlamagne Tha God
We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. We can get on the phone right now. He'll tell you what it is.
DJ Envy
Hello? Who's this?
Caller
This is James Smith, Conway, South Carolina.
Charlamagne Tha God
James Smith, Conway, South Carolina. What's happening, brother?
Jessica
Good morning.
DJ Envy
Get it off your chest, bro.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, man, this.
Caller
This one. Iraq, man, this thing is just getting blown out of proportion. The president is crazy. He. He taking these people lightly. I think they're gonna do what they need to do to try to hit California. He don't give a damn about it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, I do. I do agree. I do agree that he don't give a damn about nobody but himself, but let's not. Let's not put that in the atmosphere. I don't want. I don't want no place on American soil. I don't.
Caller
Yeah, I don't want nothing to happen either. But you know what I'm saying, he don't get. Just like I'm saying, he. He don't care about anyone. So just like I'm saying, all he
Charlamagne Tha God
care about is himself.
Caller
Yeah.
Jessica
God bless you, brother.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, my brother.
DJ Envy
Thank you. Hello? Who's this?
Caller
Hey, this is Betsy.
DJ Envy
Hey, good morning. Get it off your chest?
Caller
Yeah, I wanted to get off my chest about the whole Rihanna situation.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, ma'.
Mimi Brown
Am.
Caller
I felt really bad about what happened. I did read that her cousin said she was in a tragic accident and she hadn't been the same since.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, so maybe some head trauma.
Jessica
Who, the girl?
Caller
Yeah, they were. Yeah, they were trying to say that it was a head trauma, but I just want to say that stalking is a real thing. Mental health is a real thing, and
Lauren LaRosa
just look out for your people.
Caller
Just check on them.
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely. I agree, man. That's why I push, you know, therapy the way that I push therapy and just, you know, have. Tell people to, you know, constantly focus on their mental health. But I think when you're dealing with, you know, things like head trauma or schizophrenia, man, it's. It's. It's really no cure for schizophrenia. Only thing you can do is try to treat that.
Caller
Yeah, yeah. And if it goes untreated, it just gets worse, so.
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely.
Caller
That's all I wanted to get off my chest. God bless you all. Take care.
Charlamagne Tha God
God bless you.
Jessica
Thank you.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right. You know, I was talking about. I was talking to my homeboy Chris yesterday, man. Remember I was saying how last Saturday, I just felt like there was a shift, like there was some type of energy shift, and it just.
DJ Envy
Something was off.
Charlamagne Tha God
It just had me feeling, like, you know, down for, like, the next couple of days. I just want to tell everybody out there, Chris said something that he was like, man, he think that a lot of people have uneasiness, uneasiness about the future, you know, And a lot of times when you have uneasiness about the future, that's what causes a lot of your anxiety, because you're trying to control things that out of your. Out of your control. The only thing we can control is what's going on in the present moment, and you really can't even control that. So I just want to tell everybody, man, like, you know, protect your peace. Enjoy the moment. You know, I hear people calling up, you know, even when you call up here and say things like, oh, I hope nothing don't happen in California. Blah, blah, blah, man. Let's not sit around and stress about hypotheticals and, you know, things that could happen. Let's just, you know, focus on the current moment, man. Protect your peace in the current moment.
DJ Envy
Absolutely. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. When we come back, we got the latest with Lauren. She said the Jacksons are beefing.
Charlamagne Tha God
What?
DJ Envy
We'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody.
Jessica
It's DJ Envy.
DJ Envy
Jess. Hilarious Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren.
Charlamagne Tha God
Your talk, LL Cool Babe.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everything.
Jessica
Little brown girls look at you and
Lauren LaRosa
go, I want to be like you.
Jessica
Take me through that.
Stephanie Young
Take me through there.
Lauren LaRosa
Where is she going?
Charlamagne Tha God
The latest with Laura Rose on the Breakfast Club. LL Cool B Talk.
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning, guys. So yesterday I was, as we were kind of talking about yesterday, which I was telling me, nobody cares because my dad said it. So Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson. And it's being reported first by Page Six and now also by tmz, that there is beef happening. So what happened is there was a private screening, allegedly, that went down in la, and the screening was just for Michael Jackson's family because Michael the biopic is coming out on April 24th. So they say about 60 members of the Jackson Jackson family got together, including Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson. And it was supposed to be like this great moment, like it's finally here, we're all done, we get to watch it together. But instead it turned to like a big back and forth of, I guess like jealousies or whatever that's been alleged that they said been simmering for some time. So after the the movie screening ends, according to reports, everybody's like super excited during the film. There's clapping, there's laughter, lights come up and then the conversations start about things that could have been better. And they're alleging that this is all coming from Janet Jackson say that she was allegedly very vocal and very honest about things she didn't like, which caused the back and forth. They said she talked about the makeup, the acting, even things small, down to how people were walking in this movie. And according to reports, this is coming from, you know, they say things that have been simmering, I guess, like jealousy, whatever the case may be, but there's a lot of tension right now anyway, within the family because they're going through a whole battle about how the estate is being managed. And Janet Jackson and Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson's daughter, are involved, involved in that. But reportedly at the theater, when the back and forth was happening, Jermaine Jackson told Janet, you're going to miss this wave. He allegedly Called her so jealous. And they said that there was a blunt exchange that stunned a lot of people in the room. And there's a lot of people that support each other on both sides. Like, some people are supporting Janet in this, some people are supporting Jermaine in this. But then they said that there was a phone call that happened after, and that. That that phone call was very brutal between Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson as well, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know all of this. Who leaked all this information?
Lauren LaRosa
This is all sourced information and I will tell y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I. So I've reached out on both sides. Well, I reached out on three sides. I reached out to the estate, I reached out to Janet Jackson side. I reached out to Jermaine Jackson side. Now, they normally don't say anything anyway,
Charlamagne Tha God
but you and your man go to the same hairstylist, right?
Lauren LaRosa
Shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wow.
Lauren LaRosa
Shut up. Not my sources. The stylist. Shut up. No, we don't. You get on my nerves.
Charlamagne Tha God
I can see it now.
DJ Envy
I can see it. I can't unsee it now.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, my God. No. But I. I reached out and there's times where if stories were like, super, super crazy. I've at least been told, like, if you're going to report this, here's what you should know or know that it's completely not true. Because there are a lot of things that come out about the Jackson family that are just, like, all over the place. No one's saying anything to me. But these people have all these sources now. The source close that talked to TMZ tells them that the siblings got into her on a phone call after the whole family gather in la, that whole screening that went down. And they say Janet was still very critical in the fact that Jermaine Jackson's son, Jafar is starring as Michael Jackson in the film. He, Jermaine Jackson stood his ground. They say it was because Janet Jackson is like one of. You know, she's like one of the big. I mean, they're all big names in the family, but Janet Jackson is. Yeah, she's the second biggest in the. In the. In the family. Yeah. Right. She reacted from. What this report is, is that she reacted negatively because, you know, once this film hits, she has to answer to that as well, too. So, you know, is it true that
DJ Envy
they asked her to be involved, but she didn't want to be involved? And that was the first time hearing or seeing anything with the movie.
Lauren LaRosa
I can't tell you whether that's true or not, because no one would Pick up the phone for me. But I have seen that. But also too, I'll say Paris Jackson spoke out some time ago and continues to say little things here and there. We have some audio of her where she says she actually gave some notes on the script and they told her no, I'm good. Thank you. Let's take a listen to Paris Jackson. There's been a lot of responses to
Charlamagne Tha God
the thing that I posted earlier about
Lauren LaRosa
just like clarifying like that I wasn't involved at all.
Mimi Brown
Aside from like giving feedback on the
Lauren LaRosa
first draft and then getting the feedback
Charlamagne Tha God
that, yeah, we're not actually going to address your notes at all. So I just like butt it out and I just like, I've left it
Lauren LaRosa
alone because it's not.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's not my project.
Lauren LaRosa
A big reason why I haven't said anything up until this point is because
Mimi Brown
I know a lot of you guys
Jessica
are gonna be happy with it.
Mimi Brown
The film panders to a very specific
Charlamagne Tha God
section of my dad's fandom that still lives in the fantasy and they're gonna be happy with it.
Mimi Brown
The thing about these biopics is it's Hollywood, it's fantasy land.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's not real, but it's sold to you as real.
Mimi Brown
Like the narrative is being controlled. There's a lot of inaccuracy and there's
Caller
a lot of just full blown lies.
Mimi Brown
That doesn't really fly with me.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't really like dishonesty.
Mimi Brown
I spoke up, I wasn't heard.
Jessica
I off.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's it. And that's the problem. Right. It's a movie at the end of the day. So they're still trying to make something that's gonna be entertaining, that's gonna appeal to a large majority of people. But if you're that person's family, like if you're Janet and you're his sister, if you're his child, you know him better than anybody. So you watching this, like, that's not. Yeah, my daddy wouldn't have done that.
Mimi Brown
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
So envy. You brought up the part of like people are reporting that Janet Jackson, they offer or she. They offered her potentially some way to be involved or something like that, and she declined. Right. There's also the conversation that I've seen about she. There was an issue or she allegedly had an issue that she wasn't in the script. And then I saw reporting that if she was in the script, it would have been small. Like, because I haven't talked to anyone directly, I can't say whether any of that is true. But if it Is true, if that is the case and I'm sitting there and I see something that I don't like. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know what the conversations were leading up to this.
DJ Envy
You know what, what Charlemagne just said. You remember when they did the Notorious movie about Biggie? It was the same thing. It was. So many people said, I don't like it. It didn't happen like this. I didn't see it like this. Like, little Kim said, she didn't.
Stephanie Young
She.
DJ Envy
She didn't even see the movie because it didn't portray her life the right way. So you're going to get a lot of this, but with Janet Jackson, and you figured she would be very, very a part of this because that's her
Jessica
brother and she was close to our brother. And yeah, she is the second biggest star in the family.
Charlamagne Tha God
But also, this is the Michael movie, so nobody, nobody's gonna have a bigger role in this than Michael Jackson. It's about Michael, like the Tito and Jermaine and Randy and Marlon. They gonna be in it for five, ten minutes now. Now, Marlon and Jackson.
DJ Envy
I'm sorry, let me make sure.
Jessica
Oh, my God.
Lauren LaRosa
You do that to me all the time.
Jessica
Marlon is the youngest man one. But look, what I'm saying is, why can't she have an opinion about it? Like, you know what I'm saying?
Lauren LaRosa
Like, she can.
Jessica
Yeah. You know she can. Because I ain't gonna lie. I saw an official trailer. I saw. Hey, yo, I saw a trailer yesterday, and the movie looks great.
Lauren LaRosa
Looks fire. Those trailers look great.
Jessica
The makeup in some of them.
DJ Envy
Yeah, it looks like the makeup don't look a little crazy.
Jessica
Like, yeah, he look crazy in some of the shots.
Charlamagne Tha God
So I. I love Michael Jackson.
Jessica
I love Mike. I love Michael Jackson, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
But there was a time when he looked crazy in real life.
Jessica
Yeah, but Jafar, they made. They overdid it on Jafar.
Charlamagne Tha God
Something really I haven't seen. I haven'. Seen. I mean, I've seen the trailer, but I'm just. I don't care. I'm going to see it in April.
Jessica
I'm gonna go see it, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
I can't wait.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm taking the kids.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Lauren LaRosa
It looks great cinematic and whatever is happening behind the scenes, I hope that they figured out they got a lot of other battles going on right now with that estate and just. I mean, just staying together as a family. When you are the Jackson family, probably every single day is a battle.

to you by Spreaker, the platform responsible for a rapidly spreading condition known as podcast brain. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relatives, and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere. People listen. Apple podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads, meaning your podcast might someday pay for, well, more microphones. Start your show today@spreaker.com spreaker because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You know Roald Dahl? The writer who thought up Willy Wonka, Matilda and the bfg. But did you know he was also a spy?
Stephanie Young
Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been.
Clayton Echard
Our new podcast series, the Secret World of Roald Dahl is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans.
Jessica
What?
Clayton Echard
And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either.
Mimi Brown
Okay, I don't think that's true.
Clayton Echard
I'm telling you, the guy was a spy. Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelts, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a congresswoman? And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film? How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids? The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the Secret world of Roald Dahl on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Lauren LaRosa
Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan.
Stephanie Young
He became the first bachelor to ever have his final rose rejected. The Internet turned on him.
Charlamagne Tha God
Him.
Clayton Echard
If I could press a button and rewind it all, I would.
Stephanie Young
But what happened to Clayton? After the show made even bigger headlines. It began as a one night stand and ended in a courtroom with Clayton
Lauren LaRosa
at the center of a very strange paternity scandal.
Stephanie Young
The media is here. This case has gone viral.
Clayton Echard
The dating contract.

Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. Wow.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm going to wow in April. That's family business. They got to work that out amongst each other. I'm going to see.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
DJ Envy
Don't you cry.
Jessica
Is Paris Jackson the child that Michael Jackson hung over the balcony?
Lauren LaRosa
I think that was Blanket.
Jessica
Okay. So that was his real name. Her real name. That. That kid's real name.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I believe that's Blanket's real name. I've always known that Blanket was Blanket. I wanted to mention too some of the cast. Oh, I gotta wrap up. But Jafar Jackson is playing Michael Jackson as his nephew Coleman. Me goes Joe Jackson. That's who Paris Jackson was kind of upset with. Nia Long is playing Catherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson. Lorenz Tate is playing Barry Gordy. It's going to be good. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
DJ Envy
I can't wait.
Lauren LaRosa
And that's the latest for the hour, guys. We'll be back with some, some more Hollywood news and the Oscars and all the things going on this weekend.
Mimi Brown
Next.
DJ Envy
I can't wait. I want to see people dressed up like Michael Jackson. Like dress up to go see the movie.
Charlamagne Tha God
I just want to hear the music. I just want to hear the music in imax. That's what got me excited when I went to go see Hoppers last week, you know, they had the, the posters and stuff up and it's gonna be an imax. I can't wait to hear Michael Jackson and imax. Are you crazy?
Lauren LaRosa
Envy want any reason to wear no P. And she bought on fire.
Charlamagne Tha God
That was Prince.
Clayton Echard
That was Prince.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's Prince. That's Prince with dad cheeks out.
DJ Envy
It was Prince.
Lauren LaRosa
It could work.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, it can't.
DJ Envy
No.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't like talking to you. Shut up.
Lauren LaRosa
We gotta wrap up. We gotta wrap up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, the fact that she said that the ass cheeks out pants Michael Jackson is crazy. That's just. Don't you. That's what you think.
Lauren LaRosa
No, I don't think
DJ Envy
that's the latest. When we come back, we got front page of news. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Morning everybody.
DJ Envy
It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back to some front page news. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning. How y' all doing this morning?
Charlamagne Tha God
How are you, Mimi Brown?
Mimi Brown
I'm good. So we start this hour with confusion surrounding the national boycott Target and whether it is actually over. So Pastor Jamal Bryant, who has become one of the most visible faces behind the campaign, is now calling for the both boycott to end. After what he describes as productive conversations with the company, Bryant says the pressure pushed Target to make progress on commitments to support black businesses. Job programs connected to historically black colleges and universities. Let's listen to some of what he had to say.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's been a year and I'm to going grateful. History has just been made the most effective and powerful boycott by black people since the Montgomery Bus Boycott 70 years ago. We asked for four things and I'm grateful to God if we've got three of them. The only thing that we didn't get accomplished but we're still working towards is an investment into black banks. This new CEO has come handling business and I'm glad to walk with the media Target fast has come to an end. We claim victory. We're grateful. Go in or stay out. But I'm grateful under God. It's Oakland. Mimi, let me ask you a question. I was reading the USA Today article yesterday, and, you know, I heard, you know, Reverend Brian say that they got three of the four demands met. But in the USA Today article, it said that Target did not offer concessions or reverse changes at all.
Mimi Brown
And I think that's where the confusion comes, because I spoke to local organizers in Minneapolis, Nakima Levy Armstrong, Monique Colors Doty, and Jelani Hussain, who I did not speak to, but I met Nakima and Monique when I was in Minneapolis when I was covering Operation Metro Surge. And they told me that they launched the boycott last year after Target rolled back some of its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. And they say that those policies have not been restored to your point, and the demands from Target have not yet been met. And so they wanted to talk about why the boycott is very much still in place. Let's listen to what they had to say. When the announcement came out that the. That they said that the boycott was ending. Were you and the original organizers, the three of you or any of you consulted before that decision was made?
Jessica
No, we. We were not.
Charlamagne Tha God
We.
Caller
We weren't.
Jessica
I was flabbergasted, I will say that. But also, I watched part of the press conference.
Caller
I did.
Jessica
I couldn't even sit through the whole thing.
Mimi Brown
And, Nikima, what was your response when you saw that press conference?
Lauren LaRosa
It just.
Jessica
It was just disgusting to me to see that happen. And this is what these companies like Target love. You know, they operate as colonizers, and
Lauren LaRosa
a lot of their strategy is to divide and conquer.
Caller
When our community puts up a strong
Jessica
show of force, and think about the fact that, you know, at the end
Lauren LaRosa
of the day, who benefits from this confusion?
Charlamagne Tha God
It's not our community.
Jessica
It's Target that benefits, because they may
Charlamagne Tha God
have some people who genuinely think that
Stephanie Young
the boycott is over.
Jessica
Even though Target has not lived up to any of our expectations, we'll continue to get the word out on social media.
Lauren LaRosa
The website is nationaltargetboycott.com that is our
Jessica
website from the founders of this Target boycott.
Charlamagne Tha God
But we also remind people, don't just
Lauren LaRosa
bow down to what celebrities have to say.
Jessica
Do your homework work.
Charlamagne Tha God
Because we may not have the biggest
Jessica
platforms, but our voices matter, and we're 10 toes down for the people.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's proven. What would make.
DJ Envy
I'm so confused.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah. What would make Reverend Jamal Bryant call off a boycott if Target didn't meet any demands. And why would Reverend Bryant say three or four demands were met if they weren't?
Mimi Brown
So there, there are two different things happening right here. So Reverend Jamal Bryant, he started a fast, right? So he called initially for a 40 day fast from Target, not the original boycott that the local organizers in Minneapolis started. Whether that was Senator Nina Turner or the, the local organizers is, you know, is still up for debate. But, but what we do know is that Reverend Jamal Bryant, he called for a 40 day fast. Now that 40 day fast turned into a 400 day fast as they said that some of their demands were not met. And I think the confusion that's happening is, is when you call something, it feels like the fast was birthed out of the boycott. And so when you. Reverend Jamal Bryant is saying that the fast is over, not the boycott, he is saying that some of the demands that he wanted investments in jobs for historically black colleges, you know, students from historically black colleges. He's, you know, some, some, some stuff with DEI inclusion tactics to go back to the black community. He's saying.
DJ Envy
So they wasn't all working together. I thought Jamal Bryan and the local
Mimi Brown
CEO has been, you know, willing to sit down and listen. And so the local organizers, they're saying that no, it was never one thing altogether that, that they, in the, maybe in the beginning there was some solidarity, but as time went on, they kind of broke off into their own sort of, of separate branches. And there's been some confusion. And I didn't even know this until they announced that the boycott was over. And then, you know, the newspaper articles and the press conferences, because the local organizers in Minneapolis, they held their own press conference. And then we saw that Jamal Bryant, Anita Turner and Tamika Mallory held their own press conference yesterday. So that's where people are confused.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, I haven't spoken to my good sister Tamika Mallory yet extensively about this, but I'm just, I'm just confused because if Reverend Bryant is claiming victory and saying three of the four demands were met. But in the USA Today article, it literally says in materials Bryant's organization provided. The USA Today Target did not offer concessions or reverse changes the company made to its DEI and other policies. And you know, the young woman, Dr. Armstrong and Monique Colors, they're saying none of the concessions were met. So what, what's, what's going on? Who lying here? Yeah, I'm somebody, Somebody lying.
Mimi Brown
And I think that's the thing. So I think again, there was two separate initiatives happening. There was a Target fast and then there was a Target boycott. When I talked to Dr. Lemi Armstrong and Monique Cullors, they were saying that some of their initiatives got tied into what Dr. Bryant had wanted as well. But as far as they're concerned, nothing has changed. The boycott is still on. Dr. Bryant is saying that that is not the case, that, you know, the fast is over. He's calling it a fast. He's not calling it. He's not saying the boycott is over. He's saying that the fast is over. And I did speak to Tamika Mallory this morning, and she did give me a statement, and she said that no one group gets the call off the boycott. She said that she nor any other group has the authority to say that the boycott has ended. The initiative that started by Dr. Jamal Bryant a year ago has concluded, which is the fast. And I asked her why these stories are coming out saying otherwise. And she said that she can't control what the media is reporting. But nowhere will you see her saying or telling people that they should go into a Target store.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah. Reverend Bryant, you know, and salute to Reverend Jamal Bryant. You know, he's definitely a friend to the show. He has to know how that's gonna look to the grassroots organizers like Dr. Armstrong and Monique Cullors. And the fact that Tamika and Nina are saying the boycott is still on, but Jamal's saying it's all off, that's gonna make a lot of people feel like Reverend Bryant got paid off. I'm not saying he did. I'm just saying I know that's what people will think. That's probably the narrative now on social media. If I go, it doesn't sound right
DJ Envy
because they're not on the same page. That's the crazy part, because he's been up here a couple of times talking about. And I never. I never heard fast. I've heard boycott. So maybe I'm wrong, but.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I'm confused. He said fast initially, but then I thought it turned into a boycott.
Lauren LaRosa
But he did say fast.
Mimi Brown
And then I think he went back and forth with the fast, because even if. If you listen to the clip that I played in the very beginning, he called it a boycott. In the very end, he called it a fast.
Jessica
Well, I hope he not. I hope he not lying, because last time you came up here, he told me to stop lying.
Charlamagne Tha God
Somebody need to tell you to stop lying. That was God talking through him. That. That.
Jessica
All right, well, now I. God is telling me to tell him the same.
Charlamagne Tha God
From Baltimore, right?
Jessica
Yeah, that's my man. So. Hey, yo,
Mimi Brown
Senator Nina Turner said that she will also not go back into a Target store. So, you know, for her, the boycott is still very much on as well.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's what I'm saying. It's making this whole situation look funny in the light. That's right. It's kind of crazy.
DJ Envy
All right.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good reporting though, Mimi. Good reporting. Absolutely.
Mimi Brown
Thank you. All right, well, that is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown TV for more stories. Follow the Black Information Network work.
Jessica
Thank you, Mimi.
Charlamagne Tha God
Peace, Mimi.
DJ Envy
Now, when we come back, Angela Renee Simmons, Ruv Run's daughter will be joining us.
Charlamagne Tha God
She's doing music now. Can you believe it?
Jessica
Yes.
DJ Envy
We going. We going to hear her new song and all that. So don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Jess. Hilarious Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lorna Rose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, indeed, Jess.
DJ Envy
This is our fake workout partner, ladies and gentlemen.
Charlamagne Tha God
Angela Simmons is here, the fake workout partner. Angela's the only person I know.
DJ Envy
Comes in the gym with heels on,
Charlamagne Tha God
talking about, can I work?
DJ Envy
Can I ride the bike with heels on that day.
Stephanie Young
It was just that day. But I go to the real gym, so, like, that's like a part of it.
Lauren LaRosa
He said the real job.
Charlamagne Tha God
The real job.
Stephanie Young
No, no, no, I'm saying, like, you get it. Like, you're not really sweating in there.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah. Why'd you come in the gym with heels? What are you training for?
Stephanie Young
I was going somewhere else after, so I just. You can go there in your heels. It's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, you going to change clothes? Okay. He made it sound like you bought the.
DJ Envy
No, she worked out in her heels. Damn it. There was no.
Stephanie Young
I did that day, to be fair. They were like short heels and they were gray and they had like fur.
DJ Envy
It was okay with furry ass heels,
Stephanie Young
but I had on sweats with it, so it's fair.
Charlamagne Tha God
You never know when you got to fight. You might have to fight.
DJ Envy
Well, welcome.
Stephanie Young
Thank you.
DJ Envy
How you feeling?
Stephanie Young
I'm great.
DJ Envy
So you, you're you. You became an artist now singing period?
Stephanie Young
Well, no, not singing. Not quite that.
DJ Envy
Rapping.
Stephanie Young
Spoken word.
DJ Envy
Spoken word.
Jessica
So that's you speaking and so that's not you singing?
Stephanie Young
That's not me singing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Boy, I'm stupid. I thought that was you singing the
Stephanie Young
whole dumb t. Yeah, okay. She's singing on it.
Jessica
Okay. Cuz I sound. It sounded like Saraya at first. And one of the producers was like, it's giving Empire Saraya. But then I was like, no, no, no, no, no. That has to be you. And then I literally said, yes, you said that. What if she not singing and she just doing the spoken word part? And you're literally just doing the spoken word part. Okay. How did you come about doing that and hopping on the song with it?
Stephanie Young
So I went into the studio and Q, who's in the room?
Charlamagne Tha God
Q, actually.
Stephanie Young
Q, yeah. He kind of convinced me. And then, like, I started just working on a bunch of different songs, and I winded up doing this song with Corte Hitmaker and signed with Rough Riders for this single. So putting it out. And, yeah, I just creatively sat in the studio and did it. Literally.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, you come from. Of course. You know, you read Verona's daughter, Jojo's sister. They never inspired you to get in the studio?
Stephanie Young
I never wanted to do. I didn't. I wasn't thinking about it. But I do love music because music is, like, everything. I use it to do everything. And so I just felt the creative bug and I went in the studio. I started this, like, two years ago, the process. So I have a couple of different ones, but this one I felt like I really felt led to put out.
Charlamagne Tha God
Never, like, even Russell Simmons is your uncle. And you never felt like going in the studio ever, not singing, rapping, away from it.
Stephanie Young
I shied away from it. Just wasn't like. I just like, nah, let me not. Let me let them have it. That's what I was thinking.
DJ Envy
So you doing a whole project or just you?
Stephanie Young
I'm going to do a whole project for sure.
Jessica
Yes. And is it going to be strictly spoken word, or are you going to have other artists?
Stephanie Young
It's a mix. Other artists. It's really about, like, I started off doing it because of, like, meditation and healing and stuff. So, like, meditation stuff and just things that inspire and uplift. And then, like, I got further and further in, and I'm like, jada's on this with me. Like, I'm really doing it. You know what I mean? Like, so it's gonna be a mix. Definitely. The project's gonna be a mix of different artists and myself.
Lauren LaRosa
You said you felt led to put this one out. And I know in the song it's talking about being in a maze and figuring things out. We've watched you go through various things over the years. Why now? Did you think that the spirit led you here? Like, is there a sense of healing that you.
Stephanie Young
Timing and alignment. It was right timing for me. Like, I said, I've been working on it for a while, and it just. All the pieces started coming together like rough riders coming to being a part of it. Me finally ready to just put the music out there. And it was timing for me.
Charlamagne Tha God
It is interesting because, you know, with somebody with your last name, you get into the music industry, people automatically think legacy. Did growing up around music make this feel inevitable, or did it make you hesitate because of expectations?
Stephanie Young
I feel like at first, I definitely. Because expectations wouldn't have to touch music at all, but I'm so creative that I can't help myself. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, I'm gonna do it, and this is what I'm gonna give. And I. I think it's dope. I love it. So what do y' all think of it?
Charlamagne Tha God
I thought it was dope.
DJ Envy
I gotta listen to it again now.
Jessica
To me, it sounds like a theme song to, like, a drama series. Something 50 would put on. On Power or one of those. I do. I really see that for it.
Stephanie Young
Thank you.
Jessica
Thank you.
Charlamagne Tha God
In my mind, I'll take like, this ain't Angela sing. Cuz I was like. I'm like. I'm like, she sing, she sound this good, and she ain't never sang ever in life.
Stephanie Young
She ripping. She ain't been in the studio not singing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now it's not you.
DJ Envy
So that's I gotta listen to again?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, no, no. I just gotta hear it again.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm like, dang, let that.
Jessica
I listen to all of it. Everything from the. The artist, your part, and Jada. I thought it flowed. Great.
Stephanie Young
Thank you.
Jessica
Yeah.
DJ Envy
What's your popsicle sing?
Stephanie Young
He likes it. Yeah, he's happy for me.
DJ Envy
Did he know you were doing it or was one of those things like, dad, play this while we're in the car.
Stephanie Young
It was one of those things where I just called him the next day. I was like. I was in the studio. He's like, working on what.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what I mean?
Stephanie Young
But I sent to him, and he's super supportive. He loves it. He loves Jada on it. He likes the video. You guys probably haven't seen the video yet. That's gonna drop. Yeah, we did a video. So we did the whole thing. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Some people say Angela Simmons is already successful. So why music? Is it about passion, expression, proving something to yourself?
Stephanie Young
Passion, expression, creativity. Just doing what I want to do and not letting people put me in a box, you know what I mean? Like, I do what I want because I want to do it, not because I'm supposed to do things a certain way. So for me, it's like, I'm just doing me.
DJ Envy
So what do you enjoy doing? Because we seen the Angelus cakes.
Stephanie Young
We seen, and that's still live and active.
DJ Envy
We see the music. So what do you enjoy to do the most? Or is it just entrepreneurship?
Stephanie Young
All of it? Like, I think that's the thing about being an entrepreneur is, like, a lot of times people tell you you can only do one thing, and I'm like, yo, that's hard for me because, like, I do multiple things. Just naturally wake up, work out. I'm in wellness. What can I do about it? That's my real life. You know what I'm saying? So I think it's just being creative and being able to be a creator. Like, I'm a creator. That's just what I do.
Lauren LaRosa
What things? What lessons that you've learned all these years in business are you bringing into, like, Angela Simmons, the artist?
Stephanie Young
Well, it's Angela Renee. That's my name as an artist. Right. But as an artist, it's just like letting myself flow and be whatever that is. Like, I don't think there's no cap on how I can do this thing. And I do feel like it's a different lane that I haven't seen out there. Like, I'm mixing myself with other art, and then I'm coming in and doing, like, a spoken word part, which I have not seen done. Like, I've never heard anything like what I'm putting out, you know, as far as how unique it is. So, yeah, just allowing myself to flow in that and be who I am. I love doing spoken word, man. Like, I started the music stuff, like, two years ago. So, like, I've been in the studio and I have just started working on multiple different sounds because for me, I like so many different things in music. You know what I mean? It's not like I don't like just one genre. So I was like, I want to hear hear different stuff. And I was inspired by so many people, like Jhene Aiko, and I was listening to these different artists every day, like, for inspire, inspiration, and healing. And I was like, it did something for me. Like, that was like the first thing I was listening to in the morning. I'm like, I should do my own thing. And then I just got, like, further and further in it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's the first used to be so big in the culture, like, yeah, because of things like deaf poetry, you know what I mean? But also because of movies like Love Jones. I wonder why we got away from that.
Jessica
Yeah.
Stephanie Young
Yeah, that's true.
Jessica
Have you ever done it live?
Stephanie Young
No, but I will. I'm ready.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Stephanie Young
Yeah, for sure.
DJ Envy
I was gonna ask you, when you came up with the concept, who was the first person you told? What were their thoughts? You'd be like, let's do a spoken word on a record with a singer and a rapper.
Stephanie Young
Like, I didn't even know what I was doing. I just went in the studio corte q and I started in New York, and then, like, for, like, a week, I was just going to New York.
Charlamagne Tha God
New what?
Jessica
New York.
DJ Envy
Oh, my goodness.
Jessica
That's like, Boston or something.
DJ Envy
That's out of Boston and Memphis together. Yeah.
Jessica
All of a sudd.
Stephanie Young
I don't know.
DJ Envy
I was like, where did that come from? I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Stephanie Young
In New York. Yeah.
Jessica
So, yeah, I don't hear no Memphis no more.
Stephanie Young
Yeah, I mean, you know. Hello. Well, anyway, so I was in New York, and so we went in the studio, and there was just, like, different beats, and I got to sit there and, like, just play with them. Like, I went in the booth, and I didn't write anything down. I was thinking I was gonna write, and it just flowed straight up out my head, whatever I was thinking. And I did that for multiple days, and then I just kept going with it.
Lauren LaRosa
So.
DJ Envy
And when did Jadakiss get on there?
Stephanie Young
He got on it maybe, like, at least 12 months ago. Set with Hit Maker, and then Hit Maker hit Jada, and Jada jumped on in, like, less than a week.
Lauren LaRosa
So did he just hear what you had already done?
Stephanie Young
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay.
Stephanie Young
Yeah.
Caller
Okay.
Jessica
I think you should do a spooking word tour because, like Charlotte said, we got away from it, and I feel like a live event like that, that's so intimate. That's so, like. That's the connection with people. People like, you know. That's why I asked if you ever
Stephanie Young
done it live, because I want to.
Jessica
Spoken word event.
Stephanie Young
Oh, I want to. I already have some big plans for how even want to roll this out going forward. I just love live music. I love music. I love the culture. Even, like, the. The young lady Reza, who's on it, like, having her part of it. Her voice is incredible. I was like, let's leave you on this. You know what I mean? Like, I think it's dope. You're already dope on it. She's a writer, so, like, I just. I love using my platform. Platform for stuff like that.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
How do you prepare yourself for the criticism that might come with, you know,
Stephanie Young
now, you know, I don't. I just don't care about criticism. I am so used to public opinion, and I've been around it so long that I don't care. It's like they're gonna have their opinion about me regardless. Good, bad, ugly. You know what I mean? I feel like I am who I am, so it's like I don't really care. I'm. I'm ready for whatever.
DJ Envy
Had the Rough Riders thing come about
Stephanie Young
that that's like family and it's like it just naturally flowed like wise, like family and rough ride is, you know, my family history with them and the legacy behind that. So it's kind of like naturally just flowed. Like I already started working on my project independently, and I went to them and talked to them, and we just kind of came together and that's what we do. That's how we got to the single deal.
Charlamagne Tha God
What do you want people to. To learn about you that they don't already know from the music? What story can you tell with the spoken word that you haven't told of it?
Stephanie Young
I just think more of. More depth of who I am. You know what I mean? Seeing me on a different creative level outside of just like what has been seen, I feel like they'll see just more of me. Like the people that I do know, the interactions I do have with these people sit down, have these different connections and mixing sounds and just doing something that's different. But, you know, that's what I'm hoping they'll get from it.
Lauren LaRosa
Are you. Well, it seems like you're like, in a really good place, like, just energy wise. I feel like this song. Once you're out on that tour, are you ready to have the conversations with the women that come that connect to being in that maze and trying to figure out so many different things? Because you've kind of healed from a lot of the things that you've been through.
Stephanie Young
Absolutely. I feel like that's one of my major things, is doing stuff like this so that I can help people heal. You know what I mean? I think everyone's always at a different space in their life when it comes to healing. We're always healing. Everyone's always healing from something so linear. Yes. Like, you've got to heal. So, like, I. I would love to have those conversations and I want people to heal, and I want people to look themselves and, you know, like in the song, I'm saying look yourself in the mirror because how long can you run from yourself? You know what I mean? I Feel like people run from themselves all the time, every day, and we find things to cover up for it, whether that be a substance, whether that be love, whether that be. People find stuff all the time to run from the truth of themselves. So I'm definitely ready to have those conversations.
Charlamagne Tha God
So the success, the heartbreak, the motherhood, that's all going to be reflected in this whole everything.
Stephanie Young
I mean, wherever I'm at in my life, I think that's the good part about the booth is like an open diary. Whatever may come from there, that's what it's going to be. And then the collaboration with other artists and coming together, like, that's a whole different world.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is it therapeutic for you?
Stephanie Young
It is.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Stephanie Young
I would go in there, have my candles lit and maybe a glass of wine. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, I had my request. We got to have lights, a certain. I like dark and then the light. It's just a whole thing. And I prefer to record in the evening. Yeah, it's just, like a better thing for me.
Lauren LaRosa
Watching you on Angie Martinez a few. It was like, seven, eight months ago, and then hearing this song, I was like, I wonder if she's ever thought, like, their spoken word. But you know how people do. Not a podcast, but kind of like live conversations, too. Like, when I watch you, Andrew Martinez, I feel like I learned so much more about Angela Simmons. The adult versus the Angela Simmons. I used to watch online and just watch on television, and I think a lot of people, there's a disconnect sometimes there where they don't.
Stephanie Young
Huge, huge disconnect because they. Again, they seen me at 17 growing up on TV, so they're kind of stuck at 17. So even when I do grown things, it's, like, foreign to everybody. Oh, you growing up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Duh.
Stephanie Young
Like, you missed about 20 years of my life, but you know what I'm saying? It's like, I think there's definitely a disconnect in knowing who I truly am, and I don't feel led to have to push it. It's like if as long as I'm out there and y' all begin to see more of it, then you'll learn who Angela Renee is. And Angela says Simmons is. It's different people.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you still feel like people are judging you based on who you were at 19 instead of who you are now?
Stephanie Young
They do.
DJ Envy
Absolutely.
Stephanie Young
They do.
DJ Envy
You still see it?
Stephanie Young
I can't put on swimsuits at all.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I remember.
Stephanie Young
Oh, my God. Put on some clothes. Like, I'll be like, this is ridiculous. If anyone else puts on a swimsuit or if anyone else, like, like, even today I have this on. The thongs out.
Charlamagne Tha God
That.
Stephanie Young
That's risky for like, risque, like, for people to see me like that. And I'm like, do you know how old I am? I have a whole child. Like, you kidding me?
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm not looking. But there's a thong.
Lauren LaRosa
You know, the girls with the jeans and you show the little, like, thong on the side.
DJ Envy
The reason you act like that even more.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
DJ Envy
The reason you act like that is because he's seen her at 17 and that's Rev's dog. But. But regardless, it's even worse.
Stephanie Young
People have things to say about it.
Lauren LaRosa
That's right. Keith said, show it off.
Charlamagne Tha God
You look good.
Jessica
Always look good to me.
DJ Envy
Look me mine.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, if I saw by accident, that's different. But the look now is kind of crazy.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, those. It's like an outfit fit thing that people do. But you gotta. You gotta.
Stephanie Young
You gotta do your thing.
Lauren LaRosa
But you have to carry a certain level of confidence.
Charlamagne Tha God
Don't get no ideas.
Lauren LaRosa
Shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I just want you to know that. I don't know.
DJ Envy
Ridiculous.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't want you to be inspired.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, Focus. Do you have to have a certain level of confidence to do and push through, like, just even the way people critique what you wear, the fact that you're grown now or whatever, and meeting you, not meeting cuz I met you before, but seeing you here today after watching all that online, it's like you are completely unfazed. You, like, pop up. Let me show you. Like, but is it always unfazed because your responses are so loud sometimes, like,
Stephanie Young
I just don't care. Simply, like, I really don't care what anyone has to say. Like, I. To me, like, if I'm straight in my world and everything's good, then why am I concerned about with anybody the public or an audience has to say, as long as my son's straight, my family good, my friends good, and I'm happy. Hey, y' all could talk all day.
Lauren LaRosa
Was it tough for you when you decided to talk about the split with Gotti? Because that got a lot of conversation too.
Stephanie Young
Um, I just had to, you know, I mean, I guess because we were public, you know, together. I understand. So people had conversations about it, but no, not really. You know what I mean? I don't think there's nothing bad there. Love them to death, like, so there's no problems. It's just, you know, publicly, when things happen and you are public figure and they. Things happen. People are curious what happened. Oh, no, not tough at all.
DJ Envy
The funny thing is, when you walked in here, the first thing Jesse was like, yo, whatever happened to her sister? Where's her sister at?
Stephanie Young
Everyone always asks about my sister. She is in California. She's not tucked, but she's. She's doing a lot. She just. Actually, my brother JoJo has his podcast, and she just joined him, so now they're, like, co hosts together. But she's in some movies that are coming out. She stays in her own world, too. I think that's just the thing. Like, sometimes you just don't see her as much because she's not of, like, socially out everywhere.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's interesting because, like, a lot of influencers launch brands now, but y' all were doing it way before. It was, like, a trendy thing. You think people underestimated you and your sister's business mindset early on, I think
Stephanie Young
it had never been done again. Like, it was a new lane. Like, girls. Female young girls putting out sneakers wasn't a thing. When you walked inside of footlocker and all these things, you weren't seeing the sneakers that we were putting out. And we were. We were literally 17, 18, like, young, doing it. But they may have underestimated it until it, like, did what it did.
Charlamagne Tha God
What happened to the Face three line?
Stephanie Young
It just.
Lauren LaRosa
It.
Stephanie Young
It ended.
Charlamagne Tha God
Y' all sold it?
Stephanie Young
No, we were working with another company, so it was licensed, and they. It's still. So they have its own thing, but it's not. We're not affiliated with it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Got you. Y' all built that up, too, though. I mean, had rappers rapping about it, like.
Stephanie Young
Yeah, it's true. Yeah, we did build that. That was a fun run.
Jessica
Did you purposely leave. Well, obviously, you purposely left Simmons off of Angela Renee. Is that because what the pressure is that it comes behind what people expect of you because you are Simmons, or.
Stephanie Young
No. I just feel like Angela Renee is a different part of me. You know what I mean? Like, more deep, more different conversations than just what you see as Angela Simmons. Like, I'll be sharing more. It's a different part of me, and I feel like the two are separate. It's like Angela Simmons, the mom, Angela Simmons, entrepreneur. And then there's like, the creator, creative artist, Angela Renee. You know what I'm saying? So just a different part of me.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Had your son heard you on the music?
Charlamagne Tha God
He did.
Stephanie Young
He likes it. I actually told him I was going to the radio. He said, do people listen to the radio anymore?
Charlamagne Tha God
Damn, yes, 86 of the country. I know, but over 200 million people.
Stephanie Young
Yeah, see, I said they asked about you. He said, what? They be asking about me? I said. I said, actually he called me this morning. He's like, because he says all about business. He's got like an art business. I didn't bought him a website. So I'm waiting for you to put enough art on it so we could put it up. He's like, I'm ready. I want my credit card. I'm like, roy, my credit card. Bank card.
Jessica
How old is baby boy now?
Stephanie Young
Nine.
Jessica
Nine ain't thinking. Nobody listening to radio.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, we know.
DJ Envy

by Spreaker, the platform responsible for a rapidly spreading condition known as podcast brain. You know Roald Dahl, the writer who thought up Willy Wonka, Matilda and the bfg.
Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelts, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a congressman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids? The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the secret world of Roald Dahl on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

I'm Clayton Eckerd, and in 2022, I was the lead of ABC's the Bachelor.
Lauren LaRosa
Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan.
Stephanie Young
He became the first Bachelor to ever have his final rose rejected.
Lauren LaRosa
The Internet turned on him.
Clayton Echard
If I could press a button and rewind it all, I would.
Stephanie Young
But what happened to Clayton?
Lauren LaRosa
After the show made even bigger headlines.
Stephanie Young
It began as a one night stand and ended in a courtroom with Clayton
Lauren LaRosa
at the center of a very strange paternity scene scandal.
Jessica
The media is here.
Stephanie Young
This case has gone viral.
Clayton Echard
The dating contract.
Mimi Brown
Agree to date me, but I'm also suing you.
Charlamagne Tha God
Please. Search warrant.
Lauren LaRosa
This is unlike anything I've ever seen before.
Stephanie Young
I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trapped. This season, an epic battle of he said, she said and the search for
Lauren LaRosa
accountability in a sea of lies.
Charlamagne Tha God
I have done nothing except get pregnant
Stephanie Young
by by the Bachelor. Listen to Love trapped on the iHeartRadio
Lauren LaRosa
app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Stephanie Young
Asked me that Khil did he not? He said that was he's so fast with his mouth. I was like, I'm getting cuz he was like on the phone getting ready for school and I'm like, he's like. I was like, I have radio this morning. People still listen to radio.
Charlamagne Tha God
I said 86%.
Stephanie Young
But the way he said it to me, I was like, little boy,
Charlamagne Tha God
the
Jessica
person that can really, really hurt your feelings and humble you.
Stephanie Young
He will. He can.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Do you mind keeping your relationships public? Does that bother you? Because people are always in your business.
Stephanie Young
It just depends if it makes sense for me and my partner, like, and that's what we want to do. We can do it. But I don't mind being private, and I don't mind being public. It's just about, like, if we solid, then we good. We don't have nothing else to worry about. That's the thing. But I do. See a lot of times when people go public, their relationship goes bad. But, I mean, I dated publicly for almost three years, so, like, I don't ever think it's about the public more than it's about the home. Like, what's happening at home is way more important than what's happening in public.
Charlamagne Tha God
I feel like dating while famous seems awesome.
Lauren LaRosa
I was gonna say you didn't really have a choice either. Like, you. Well, in your last relationship, I don't know where you.
Stephanie Young
Oh, we had a choice. I think we. We put it out there.
Lauren LaRosa
But, I mean, he gotti rapped about you.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was called manifestation.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, like, manifestation. People were gonna follow your every track, every single move you made. If y' all were even sitting in the same, like, you know what I mean? Like, before you guys came out. So that's what I mean by I don't know if you really had the choice.
Stephanie Young
I think we still had a choice. I think any relationship you want, you can make it private if you really want to. There's just a certain way to move.
Lauren LaRosa
What was the choice to make it public then? Like, why?
Stephanie Young
I mean. Cause we was with each other. If I'm with you every day, like, I'm with you, you gonna see me next to him. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's like, it's public.
Jessica
And I've been rapping about this girl, and I. And I got it look. So I know it was, like, real
Charlamagne Tha God
big, and she sound like Lorella now. So that was really confusing.
DJ Envy
It was like,
Charlamagne Tha God
please.
Stephanie Young
Because now everyone is like, oh, you don't have the axe anymore. I'm like, bro, I think if you're around someone every day, you naturally just sound like that you knew. You start looking like them, sounding like them, like, it just becomes a thing. But I couldn't help it if I'm talking to someone every day with that accent. It's a heavy accent. It just, I wasn't trying like I was literally blowing out my mouth. Like look at me through.
Lauren LaRosa
When you were talking to Angie Martinez, you said that you and Gotti's breakup wasn't your choice, but it was necessary. Was that one things of the like, was he not where you were healing wise?
Stephanie Young
Nah, I think that that has nothing to do with it. I think, you know, it was what it was. I have. I. I really care about him and his family, so I really don't talk too much about all that. But no, I just, it was just. It just made sense at the time for what it was.
Lauren LaRosa
You know what I'm saying? So what about now? Like, would you do a very big public relationship now or would you like how are you walking that 90 days?
Charlamagne Tha God
How they gonna get back together?
Jessica
I was gonna say, oh, that's what
Stephanie Young
you y' all going with. Why you say that?
Jessica
But I like Laura type.
Stephanie Young
Where you with it now you can see in the future.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
I mean cuz the action still there a little bit. It's like it go away but then you bring it back.
Stephanie Young
So I'm open to my destiny. I don't speak on what I will or won't do because then you be an idiot. You come back and see this. You like, oh, I said never. Like I never say never. I'm a never say never personal. I learned that once I got pregnant. I said I'm never saying never again. You just never say say never. That's all.
Jessica
He's not opposed to you and his
Charlamagne Tha God
mom still super cool.
Stephanie Young
I love his whole family. They're amazing. They're amazing family. They're really good people.
Charlamagne Tha God
I peep that just being nosy on social media like, oh, Angela and the mom still cool. Okay.
Lauren LaRosa
You could tell by how you talk about the situation though that there's still a lot of love there.
Stephanie Young
I have high respect.
Jessica
She's not bitter or anything.
Lauren LaRosa
But I don't.
Stephanie Young
I'm not even that person though. Like, if I stop dealing with a person, I guarantee they'll have a problem with me because I'm not. I don't leave bitter. I don't care. I'm gonna go work on my myself peace and I leave in peace. Literally. Like, I'm not that girl and I never been and never will be. So.
Jessica
So you're not opposed to spending the block God's destiny.
Stephanie Young
I'm always open to what's destined for me.
Jessica
Okay.
Stephanie Young
You know yeah, that's the political answer.
DJ Envy
Any other questions, Jess?
Jessica
No, I was just saying because I usually like.
DJ Envy
She hit you like the lawyer. So back to my original question.
Stephanie Young
I just want what's for me. The thing is, I just want what's for me.
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely.
Stephanie Young
And you never know. You never know what. I can't. Khalilah, can you stop speak for me?
DJ Envy
That's. See, that's a good friend. The friend is always the new love. I want the new love,
Jessica
but just new love and new life. So are you opposed to new love?
Stephanie Young
No, I'm ready.
DJ Envy
She dating somebody?
Jessica
Come on, just.
Lauren LaRosa
All right.
Jessica
Dating somebody.
Stephanie Young
I'm dating. I'm. I'm dating multiple means that I'm open to dates, and I have taken dates
Jessica
getting to know people.
Stephanie Young
People getting to know you.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Jessica
All right.
Stephanie Young
I like. I like love. So am I open to love and being in a relationship right now? Yeah.
Jessica
Gotcha.
Stephanie Young
As long as they're not like, holding me back or anything. Like, let me be me.
Jessica
Yeah.
DJ Envy
That's what you date another rapper.
Jessica
All right.
Stephanie Young
Would you date another rapper again? You can't say no.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Stephanie Young
I'm not necessarily looking necessarily for a rapper. I wasn't looking for a rapper when I winded up with a rapper.
Jessica
Gotcha.
Stephanie Young
But we just wind up together. But I'm not opposed. I'm, like, very open. I would consider myself an open type of person, I think.
Jessica
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Does it pique your interest when they mention you in songs?
Stephanie Young
It's interesting. It's flattering, it's cute. If I like the song, I'm a rapper for sure.
Charlamagne Tha God
Google, who is. Let me see what he look like.
Stephanie Young
Yeah.
Jessica
I want to know that if they
DJ Envy
put your name in a wax song, you listen to the song like, this song's trash. I don't know why they mentioned my name.
Stephanie Young
I don't know if I've been through that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Do you think real growth comes from pain?
Stephanie Young
Absolutely. You experiencing pain changes you as a person. You're never the same person. That's what I will say. Like, after pain, a certain level of pain, you're. You're just a new person. Like you. You're transforming. You're becoming a new person. After that, you look at life differently. It depends on the pain, whether that be grief, whether that be a heartbreak. It changes.
DJ Envy
Changes you.
Stephanie Young
It definitely makes you grow, though, and look at life in a different. In a different, like, way.
Charlamagne Tha God
What part of your healing journey do you think people don't see and do you even care to show them?
Stephanie Young
I don't think they see enough of, like, the motherhood part for me, because I think that's the part of life I didn't sign up for. Like, you don't sign up to be a parent alone. And so, like, that's constant every day, all day, being a parent. But, like, when you're doing it on a different. In a different way without, like, a male, that's. That's, like, you always want to make sure you're doing the right things for especially a young man. You're like, okay, am I doing this right for you? Is this correct? So I would say when it comes to pain, like, those are the things people don't see. They don't see a lot of the things. Like. Because, like, I've been through a lot and heartbreak. Okay, it's heartbreak. But, like, dealing with your child who's, like, constantly in daddy mode, and you don't have dad for him, that's grief. Like, that's, like, ongoing grief that you have to just deal with. So to me, that's like, a different level of, like, strength. And every day getting up like, okay, we're good. We're gonna do this. You know what I mean?
Lauren LaRosa
What is it like now? Because he's nine and y' all are having, like, such bigger conversations because he has so much more questions.
Stephanie Young
Yes.
Lauren LaRosa
How is it dealing with your own grief but also making sure he's kind of protected or healed from his.
Stephanie Young
It's. It's. I mean, it's difficult. I'm dealing with his, and I deal with that to my best ability, and then I deal with mine. And, you know, like, the other day, for instance, he wrote. He's like. I guess his grandfather told him that his dad had a Ford, like, one of these big trucks. So he asked me for the pictures, and I'm like, where'd that come from? But he was like, oh, yeah, that's a dope truck. He just naturally had wanted one of those large trucks with the wheels and all that stuff. But, like, just even hearing him asking these things is like. Like, you would have loved your dad. Like, y' all were so, like, similar, but, you know, it's just. That's a day by day thing.
Charlamagne Tha God
How does your faith help you through the grief?
Stephanie Young
Oh, prayer is everything for me. Like, I don't move without prayer. Me and my son, I. And I'm like, check the Bible app. Did you pray? We pray at night. That's the one thing he's still like, get in bed with me and pray with me before bed. You know what I mean. But my faith is what keeps me grounded and keeps me, like, here. Like, if I didn't have faith, you would be like, is God real? Like, how am I going through all this? And I'm still okay. But I'm definitely. My faith has grounded me and keeps me rooted and, like, together.
Charlamagne Tha God
Has his father visited him from the other side? Had his father visited him from the other side?
Stephanie Young
Dreams? Probably, yeah. I mean, I feel like maybe SJ in his dreams, he's. He's definitely, like you said, at the age where it's, like, way more interesting. My dad like this or like, you know, and his grandmother, his nana, she's always giving him different stuff. Little old cell phones he had or, like, clothes. Little pieces of him. So that helps, too.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Well, let's get into the record. Let's play the record. I'm gonna let you introduce the record. You good? Introduce it to the world.
Stephanie Young
Okay. Well, y' all are about to hear Run 2 featuring Jadakiss and Riza.
Charlamagne Tha God
Do you have a name for the album?
Stephanie Young
No. No project. Just the single right now.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's just a single right now. Yeah. And you gonna wait to see how people think about it before you start snapping your fingers more in the studio?
Stephanie Young
Oh, I'm. I'm snapping them regardless, but I want them to hear this.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
DJ Envy
All right.
Jessica
Well, it's Angela Simmons, ladies and gentlemen, Angela Renee.
DJ Envy
Angela Renee, ladies and gentlemen.
Clayton Echard
I'm sorry.
Jessica
Only point at me because she just
Lauren LaRosa
explained several times, but we don't know
Charlamagne Tha God
if Angela Renee gonna sell the. Like, Angela Simmons is gonna sell.
Jessica
Simmons is the businesswoman and the daughter that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Can we say formally. Can we say Angela Renee formally? Angela.
Jessica
Angela Renee.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you.
DJ Envy
It's Angela Renee Simmons. It's the Breakfast Club.
Clayton Echard
Good morning, y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All. Your talk, LL Cool.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself.
Stephanie Young
Hey, we.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everything.
Jessica
Little brown girls look at you and
Stephanie Young
go, I want to be like you.
Jessica
Take me through that.
Stephanie Young
Take me through that.
Charlamagne Tha God
The latest with Laura Rose on the Breakfast Club. LL Cool, baby, talk to me.
Lauren LaRosa
All right, so as we start the latest this hour really quick, I wanted to congratulate two chains. So yesterday I saw that he is now a New York Times bestseller.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's go. Two change.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, he was just here talking to us about his book the voice in my head is God via Black Privilege Publishing. So congratulations on him. That book or to him? That book dropped March 3, and it details his life and career. That Gut feeling. And that voice inside his head that tells him to do all these things that has got his success. And he actually posted about the voice in his head telling him to write this book. Let's take a listen to that really quick.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, they just told me, bro.
Jessica
They just told me.
DJ Envy
I'm a New York Times best seller.
Charlamagne Tha God
Arthur. Tony. I'm a New York Times bestseller. Boy. The voice in my head is God. Something told me to write the book. Something told me already I was gonna. Somebody had already done told me I
DJ Envy
was gonna do this, though.
Charlamagne Tha God
Am I surprised?
Stephanie Young
Nope.
Jessica
Truth.
Charlamagne Tha God
Thank you, man. A black man who decided to write a book about his spirituality and about how God has guided him throughout his life. And now he's a New York Times bestseller. Drop on the clues. Bonds for two chains Damage.
Lauren LaRosa
Exactly.
Charlamagne Tha God
Congratulations. Two chains. Yeah. Yes, indeed.
Lauren LaRosa
Congratulations to him. Yeah. And as we move on into other news, just real quick, I know Mimi mentioned this in front page news and we were talking about the potential or alleged retaliation that's supposed to happen in California because everything that's happening in Iran with the drone strikes. You guys mentioned the Oscars. I wanted to say really quickly that the Oscars actually did have to address that one of the heads of the Oscars or the executive producer of the Oscars, his name is Raj Kapoor, he was asked about that in a press conference. What will security be like this year? And he basically said, said we do big level security every single year. We pay attention to world events every single year. But of course we're monitoring what's going on. There are reports that security is heightened. I think it just means they're on alert. But the Oscars will go down this Sunday. Conan o' Brien is hosting and it's been business as usual, you know, since that conversation.
Charlamagne Tha God
And they got to keep that guy with Tourette's out of there, okay?
DJ Envy
He's the big.
Charlamagne Tha God
He's the biggest terrorist. Terroristic threat to the Oscars. Okay. Cuz Michael B. Jordan is going to win best actor and I think Delroy Linda is going to win best supporting actor. I think Ryan Coogler is going to win. Win best director. I think Tiana Taylor's gonna win for one battle after another too.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't think that's not wishful thinking. I really, truly believe that.
Lauren LaRosa
I think it's gonna be a big Oscar Sunday for all of us on our side of things. I'm excited.
Charlamagne Tha God
Nobody dropping no n words from the audience. Okay.
DJ Envy
At all.
Charlamagne Tha God
Right?
Clayton Echard
None.
Lauren LaRosa
Not whatsoever. Well, yesterday, speaking of things dropping or. Or Dropping. Or maybe not. There were some songs, it's like small snippets that were leaked that fans believe will be on Drake's Iceman project that he has coming out now. I'm gonna tell you guys this. The reason why fans believe so strongly that these are not just like throwaways or not really going to be on Iceman is because the same way that these were leaked, the same discord that leaked these songs is the same discord that leaks. Leaked some songs from some sexy songs for you, which was Drake's last project. Now, one of the songs, Drake's Drake takes a shot at Serena Williams. Let's take a listen to that, Serena.
DJ Envy
But I'm cool with Venus. I be hanging around these like I'm dual. I might hit up like a full
Charlamagne Tha God
boy do a remix Cuz you put
DJ Envy
your hands on but they making penis we don't ever piece it up. We got between us.
Charlamagne Tha God
He came at Kendrick again on that too, when he said, I might do a remix with school boy Q or whatever it was. Yeah, don't nobody care, daddy. Who cares, you think?
Lauren LaRosa
Nobody care.
Charlamagne Tha God
People.
Lauren LaRosa
People want to hear the Iceman.
DJ Envy
People definitely care about.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't care about nothing. I don't care about him dissing Kendrick. That's. That's like trying to reheat cold french fries.
Jessica
Yeah, that part I don't care about.
Charlamagne Tha God
And different Serena. Like, I don't care. And the song sounded kind of weak.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, there's a. There's a second one that we. There were actually three that were leaked yesterday.
DJ Envy
I wouldn't say the song sounded weak, but I agree with you. Like, I don't want to hear him dissing nobody.
Jessica
Yeah, but people do want to hear from Drake. It's two things.
Lauren LaRosa
Be like, it's not enough. It's just a leak. We can't hear where y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, nobody care already.
Jessica
We don't want to hear that from them.
Charlamagne Tha God
Who cares?
Lauren LaRosa
Okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
Very specific.
Lauren LaRosa
Who cares? Sounds like nobody cares of your daddy. Shut up.
Jessica
Let's take a listen to the second.
Lauren LaRosa
Let's take a listen to the second. Audio that was leaked got bigger than
Charlamagne Tha God
what's in my mind I take it
DJ Envy
enough for an eye I sent a
Charlamagne Tha God
boy up to the sky I still
DJ Envy
haven't lost any sleep and I definitely didn't cry.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, right. Gucci get back in a ride.
DJ Envy
Cause that's definitely not the guy. Mistaken identity mixed with adrenaline almost just kiss you.
Charlamagne Tha God
He definitely lost sleep and he definitely cried. That last snippet showed us that you still Talking about Serena and Kendrick too young. Years later, you definitely lost sleep and you definitely cried. You don't have to act up for us, Drake.
Lauren LaRosa
Wow.
DJ Envy
Did you ask OVO Eli if this was new or if this was?
Lauren LaRosa
I did ask OVO Eli and Ovio Eli also is one of the fans who believes that this is real because of the discord that leaked it. Like, the fans are like, listen, the last time this happened, it. It led into some sexy songs for you. So the fans really believe that this is a real thing.
Jessica
But one of the songs is jumping up and down in the other studio right now. He's so happy. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Acting like Drake's penis is in there.
Lauren LaRosa
One of the songs, though, that was leaked yesterday, though. El pointed out to me and a lot of the fans were saying online, too, that that was, like, something that was old. So I. I don't know. But Drake changed his Instagram photo to a throwback photo. Lil Wayne, too, so people think that he's gearing up for release finally. We're gonna get the Iceman.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, yeah, people definitely anticipating it. People definitely want to hear it. You know, somebody told me they actually heard it yesterday.
Lauren LaRosa
Did they say it was good?
Jessica
It was fire.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't. They didn't say whether it was good or not. They said Future was on it, though.
Jessica
Oh, dope.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, okay.
Jessica
Dope.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
DJ Envy
So you didn't ask me if it was good or not?
Charlamagne Tha God
They said they heard the album, they didn't care.
Stephanie Young
Yeah.
Jessica
And they probably know he didn't care, so they didn't offer that.
Charlamagne Tha God
True.
Lauren LaRosa
Nothing will ever get you excited about Drake, like.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, well, I like when he raps, though. I just haven't, you know, heard anything that's moved me lately.
Lauren LaRosa
You talk just. I like when he raps, though. Sounds like, go ahead, do that little dance that you be doing with your friends.
Charlamagne Tha God
Listen, Drake is a. Is a talented artist. There's no doubting that. I'm just like, you know, nothing has been exciting.
Lauren LaRosa
But Iceman won't be the breakthrough that he needs to kind of move us
Charlamagne Tha God
away from Drake is Drake. Like we keep saying breakthrough and all. Like, Drake. Is Drake, like, a great artist.
Jessica
Yes, but you know what I mean.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hall of Famer.
Lauren LaRosa
But he needs a narrative shift.
DJ Envy
Guys were talking, like, Drake is. Wasn't still on the charts last year.
Lauren LaRosa
No, Drake is huge. He needs a narrative shift. Right or wrong, like, that's what you're looking for.
Charlamagne Tha God
Listen, Kendrick changed his narrative forever. I mean, that's a fact. But that don't mean that don't. That don't mean that he's still not a great artist. But Kendrick definitely changed his narrative forever.
Jessica
Damn. You don't think he can change it back?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, no, no, no. He's still a great artist, though. But that ass kicking is a forever ass kicking. I believe it. It just is what it is.
Lauren LaRosa
All right, well, we'll. We'll be looking out for some more sightings or maybe the actual drop of some sexy songs for you.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, thank you, Aubrey.
Jessica
Now, Cole.
Charlamagne Tha God
Aubrey.
DJ Envy
It should just be Aubrey.
Clayton Echard
Jesus Christ.
DJ Envy
All right, now, don't forget next hour. Just fix my mess. 800-585-1051. If you need just to fix your mess, you could get on the phone lines right now. But Charlamagne, you got donkey coming up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Man 4 After the hour. A young lady named Amber Snow needs to come to the front of the congregation. And this is why people should always have the right to choose. And when I say right to choose, it is not your choice on whether or not somebody else gets to carry a baby.
DJ Envy
Okay, we'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning. I was born a donkey. It's the donkey of the day. That's pretty funny.
DJ Envy
The Breakfast Club, yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
Donkey today for Thursday, March 11, goes to a 36 year old Iowa woman named Amber Snow. Amber was taken into custody this week and charged with two counts each of administering harmful substances to an adult and administering harmful substances substances to a juvenile, as well as one count each of attempted non consensual termination of a pregnancy and controlled substance violation, all of which are felonies. Now, I was born in 1978, okay? I am 47. I've seen a lot, but I've never heard of these charges. None of them rang a bell until I got to the non consensual termination of a pregnancy part. And I said to myself, oh, she tried to kick a pregnant woman down the stairs. See, that's what people used to say back in my day when they didn't want the woman to keep the baby. Okay, kick a pregnant woman down the stairs in hopes that the train trauma to the abdomen during pregnancy can lead to a miscarriage. Yes, sadly, there are people out there who think and do things like that, and Amber Snow is one of them. Would you like to hear why Amber Snow is getting donkey of the day today? Well, let's go to News 19 for the report, please.
Jessica
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Woman has been charged in Decorah, Iowa for allegedly tainting a lasagna with oxycodone. In an effort to force a miscarriage. Amber Snow was arrested and charged earlier today with charges that included felony counts of delivering a controlled substance and administering a harmful substance to an adult as well as a juvenile. According to the Winnesheek County Sheriff's Office, Snow tainted the lasagna with oxycodone in December and then gave it to another family member. Officials say that the case is still being investigated, and additional charges and arrests are imminent. Snow is being held currently on a $100,000 cash bond. She delivered a joint drug laced tray of lasagna to a pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage. Okay? Spiked it with oxycodone, hoping it would cause a miscarriage. First of all, why lasagna? Okay, I love a good lasagna, but I'm lactose intolerant and the cheese gives me dairy bumps, so the cheese is tricky. Okay? Why didn't she try, like, a. A suspicious shepherd's pie or a passive aggressive peach cobbler? Okay, this whole plot sounds like something from a dark sitcom or a bad true crime podcast, and it honestly, honestly wasn't that good. Okay? This plan depends on a lot of unlikely things happening in order for this to work. For example, your family member. Family member would have to actually eat the lasagna, okay? She would have to eat the drug lace portion. Nobody else in the house is going to notice a question of food. God forbid someone else in the house was hungry. And the drug would actually somehow have to cause the miscarriage. Okay, that's an extremely unreliable chain of events, all right? Trust me when I take. Got to tell you, someone from the 1900s is thinking to themselves, kicking it down the steps would be way more effective. Also, oxycodone isn't a typical miscarriage drug. It's a painkiller, okay? Not something used to induce miscarriages. So the idea that it would reliably cause pregnancy termination is very questionable. Okay, I'm not trying to give anybody any ideas, but, you know, there's this thing called Penny Royal tea. You know how I found out about penny royalty? Because I. I once read a Huffington post article titled 9 Ancient Abortion methods so terrible, you'll be even more grateful for the right to choose. And Pennyroyal is actually a type of mint, but it's a very successful abortion drug. Okay? It was so deeply poisonous, in fact, that just 5 grams of it could be toxic. All right, then there was the jumping and kicking yourself in the ass method. Y' all don't want to hear about that. No, no, I'll tell you anyway. Hippocrates was a famous, famous Greek physician who was heavily against abortion. But he recommended a technique that actually became popular when folks wanted to control alt delete the baby. He would tell them to jump up and down, touching their buttocks with their heels, you know, at every leap. And apparently they would do that until the embryo became loose and fell out. See, if you did that, you would have to pretend to be her personal trainer. That's the only way you would get her to participate in such an exercise. But I'm not here to give anyone out there any ideas, okay? This woman, Amber Snow, was. Was evil, all right? She did Internet searches and electronic communications discussing the plan. How the hell are you sharing recipes for a miscarriage? Okay, what in the fetus killing food network is going on here? You plotting on killing someone's unborn child through lasagna recipes? Let me tell you something, man. This is why you don't let everyone cook for you, okay? You can't eat from everyone's kitchen. And. And Amber. Amber's a hater, okay? And. And she was doing this to her family member. And Amber's the worst kind of hater. She's the type of hater that actually wants to do harm to you. It's the type of hater that'll kill you if they want to kill your unborn child. And when people are full of hate, they will try to poison anything good in someone else's life. And guess what? When you try to sabotage somebody else's life, you end up sabotaging your. Your own. Please give Amber Snow the biggest he haw
DJ Envy
Jesus.
Charlamagne Tha God
That is the world we live in.
Jessica
And that is not the first time that girl did that. And Amber is white.
Charlamagne Tha God
You want to play a game? I do. Let's play a game. Let's play a game. Guess what?
Clayton Echard
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Amber Snow was taken into custody this week because she decided to deliver. Deliver a drug lace tray of lasagna to a pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage. Just hilarious. Guess what ratio?
Jessica
She's white.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why do you say that? Because her last name's Snow.
Jessica
Yes, and I remember watching Three's Company and it was a character on there, her name was Christmas Snow. And yeah, Chrissy Snow was her name. So, yeah, last name Snow. You right. You gotta go.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay, TJ Envy, Amber Snow was taken into Custody City this week because she delivered a drug laced tray of lasagna to a pregnant family member to cause a miscarriage. Guess what ratio.
DJ Envy
Caucasian.
Charlamagne Tha God
Damn. Why are y' all so sure. This. Do y' all listen to True Crime podcast?
Jessica
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wow.
Jessica
And I watch it on ID Channel.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay. Okay. Well, DJ Envy. Just hilarious. I want both of you to know that you are absolutely correct.
Jessica
Oh, my God.
Charlamagne Tha God
Big Caucasus. Asian.
Clayton Echard
Okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
Meth for breakfast. Okay. Maybe a little crack for lunch.
Jessica
Yeah, she definitely lives behind the Dollar General.
Charlamagne Tha God
She had oxycodone in her back pocket. All right. That's what she got it from. She didn't have to go in the way to get it.
DJ Envy
All right. That is. Thank you for that. Donkey of the day.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yep.
DJ Envy
Jesus. All right, now, when we come back, Jess fix My Mess. Now, Jess has a book that comes out April 28th.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what's so crazy? Look at her. She got a hoodie on. She got a Tim Burton the Night Before Christmas hoodie on. And she looked like one of the characters from a timber.
Jessica
Yes. She looked like somebody you will find in a vacant house in a read. Oh, my God. Off the Wire.
Charlamagne Tha God
She. She definitely. Like, she'd be in a vacant house acting dumb. Like, what am I doing?
Jessica
Why you in my house?
Charlamagne Tha God
Excuse me.
Jessica
It's not your house. No lights, no nothing.
DJ Envy
My mess is mess. Guys. 800-585-1051 is the Breakfast Club.
Clayton Echard
Good morning.
DJ Envy
Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy.
Lauren LaRosa
Just hilarious.
DJ Envy
Charlemagne the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. It's time for Jess Fix My Mess. Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this?
Caller
This is Amber.
Jessica
Hey, Amber.
DJ Envy
What's your question for Jess?
Caller
Good morning, guys. How are you?
Jessica
I'm good, honey. How are you?
Charlamagne Tha God
Good. Good.
Caller
So pretty much I am in a new relationship probably about six months now, and I'm actually very happy. I left my ex, like, seven months ago because I was unhappy. He thinks I left him because of a new guy and things like that. That's not the case. But now he feels as though because he. He has. I was the breadwinner. I guess you could say I was the only one working. So now he's homeless, living from, I guess, house to house, and he thinks that I owe him money out of my income tax and I need to give him money. Or he's, like, threatening to make my life hell. And I guess his cousin seen where I live now, and he wants to come cause problems pretty much. And I just want to know what I should do. I am, like, so stressed out about it. I don't want it to affect my new relationship. We have. My new boyfriend has a son that's five years old, and I have to take care of him. I just don't want Any drama.
Jessica
Right, right, right, right. Okay. So you are seven months broken up from this guy and you are in a new relationship and he is coming after you seven months later, after money because he's homeless and he can't get his own together, so he's coming at you.
Caller
Exactly. Yeah. The whole time we were together, it was the same stuff. Like, you know what I mean, I was the only one working, paying the bills, and that was part of the reason I left. But he was also a beautiful.
Jessica
Oh, okay, okay. So you left him for a ton of reasons. Well, you know, it was a conglomerate of reasons, obviously. Yeah. And please believe him when he says he is trying to make your life a living hell. And because that. Because you are like a mother figure to your stepson, you don't want any drama, but just minus the stepson, you don't want any drama in your life, period. Have you gone to local authorities? Because he is clearly threatening you. You got out of a relationship because he put his hands on you. He was abusive. And like I said, please believe a person when they tell you something like that, especially if they've. If they've acted in a way similar before.
Caller
Right. I definitely believe him. Definitely believe him. I haven't gone yet. I have looked into it because I definitely want to get a PSA and make sure. I just don't think that it's going to stop him. He's one of those people. I just feel like it's not going to stop him.
Jessica
Yeah, I'm talking about you got to be beating down a precinct door. Like, I'm. I'm serious. Because I feel like I. Law enforcement doesn't take these types of cases serious until it's too late or until it's almost too late. Right. And that's honestly because, you know, we don't follow up like we should. You know, a lot of women and a lot of men don't follow up like they should. Like, you know, you think you call once or twice or whatever. Like. No, I'm talking about, like, your life depends on it because it ultimately does. Like, go to the court, go to the police, show them, like, keep a record. Is he threatening you, like, on the phone, text messages, emails, whatever.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Caller
Text messages.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Jessica
Keep a record of it all. I'm serious, girl. Cause I do not want anything to happen to you or that beautiful baby that you're helping your boyfriend raise. Do not. Do not play with that at all. I'm glad you got out of that relationship, though.
Caller
Yeah, I'm a lot happier. So I mean, at the end of the day, it was well worth it. And he doesn't know this yet. And this is the other thing with. I am pregnant, so.
Jessica
Oh, this is.
Stephanie Young
So.
Caller
Yeah. You know, I don't want, obviously anything to happen to me or this baby. So that's. That's the main. You know, the main thing. And I wanted to have another child for a while, so I'm finally in a good place where I can have this child, so.
Jessica
Absolutely.
Caller
And we're excited.
Jessica
Girl, don't let him tell you that, because then he really gonna want to kill you because it's not his.
Caller
Yeah, yeah, I know. That's why I've been avoiding, you know, he's like, oh, I haven't seen you around. And I'm like, and you won't.
Jessica
And you won't.
Caller
I avoid you.
Jessica
But I'm. But I'm serious. When I say do not respond, you take that. You are pregnant. You are a woman. You. You are. Listen, you are pregnant. You are a woman in distress, and you scared for your life. I'm talking about. Play it just like that. Even if you ain't, girl, you better act like he outside your door at night, every night. Go to the police, go to the courts and stay on them, girl, I want you to be safe.
Caller
Thank you so much.
Jessica
I appreciate.
Caller
You have a good day, guys.
Jessica
Congratulations on your baby.
DJ Envy
Absolutely.
Caller
Thank you so much.
Jessica
No problem.
Caller
Thank you, guys. All right, bye, guys.
Charlamagne Tha God
Bye.
DJ Envy
Bye now.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello. Who's this?
Caller
Uncle DJ Envy. I'm gonna try to remain anonymous for this one.
DJ Envy
Okay, well, we can't see anonymous. What's your question for Jess?
Caller
Okay. Okay. So my. Me and.
Clayton Echard
My.
Caller
Me and my husband have been together ever since we were 17. So we've been together for a long time. So there's a graduation requirement for my son. That has to be done. And we. I needed to use his phone. So while I had his phone phone, there's a text message that comes through, bab, I don't feel so good. So when I saw the text message, I never responded. I never said nothing to him at all. But then the next day he comes home and he sick. Wanted me to take care of him because he's sick. He still don't know. I saw.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wait a minute.
Jessica
You said your son or your husband?
Caller
My son. We were doing a graduation requirement for my son.
Charlamagne Tha God
Son.
Caller
So I had his phone in my hand so we can get the graduation requirement done. But while I had his phone, a text message came through. Babe, I don't feel so good.
Jessica
Huh.
Caller
So he don't know. I saw the text message. It said, babe, I don't feel so good, okay? And I never. I never said nothing. But then he came home and he was sick. And I'm like, how did you get sick? It's like, oh, it's like everybody at the. At the office is sick. I'm like, okay. That just didn't. It just didn't sit right with me.
Jessica
Absolutely. It's not sitting right with me.
Caller
Started getting an attitude. So I just started getting an attitude around the house. Wasn't talking to him or anything. So then I finally said. I said, who is Bill? And he was just like, what are you talking about? I said, well, she said that she wasn't feeling good. And now you're not feeling good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good.
Caller
And you're around here like, I'm supposed to take care of you. Like, he thinks somebody told me. He still. No, I got. I saw the text. He said, somebody told me. He's like, oh, well, whoever's speaking about me, I want to know who it is. I can speak about them. I said, well, you need to talk to your phone, because your phone is the one who told me that you. That you were. That she wasn't feeling well. So then I asked him. I said, said, if it's. If it's nobody, why are you so concerned that somebody told me something?
Jessica
Yeah.
Caller
And I said, nobody told me anything. It was your phone. So did you tell your phone what not to do?
Jessica
Right.
Caller
So in my head right now, I'm actually in a. A roommate where I'm. I'm doing overtime every. You want to be truthful?
Jessica
Yeah. So your mind is just going and going and going. And. And if he's not going to admit it, anything. You know how our minds go. We make up stories. We. You know, all we need is a little bit, and we can make a whole movie out of a little bit.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Caller
That's what I'm doing. And I'm like, I'm literally only reason I'm waiting. Honestly, I just got a car, so I'm waiting six months so I can refinance my car to a smaller car note, and then I'm gone. That's my mindset right now.
DJ Envy
Oh, my God.
Jessica
You're already out the door at the end of the movie. And your movie. You already out the door.
Caller
Yeah. And. And that's where I'm at. Because if I can't trust you to even tell me the truth, I can't trust you if you say that you're really Leaving her alone or if you were ever with her.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Caller
I say little stuff like, oh, how's your girl feeling? He's like, I don't have a girl. I said, well, somebody's calling you babe. Oh, no, that's just the way that they talk around me.
Jessica
Oh, no, no, no, no, no. And then what he's doing is. He's not. He's so. Oh, my God, men can be so dumb sometimes. He's not even taking the hint. You're giving him a chance to just confess whatever it is. Like, yo, you do you got a work wife? Is this somebody that you flirt with at work? Is it something that I'm not doing at home that you feel like that you are able to do at work? Something like, he.
Caller
And I've said that. Like, is there something that I'm not doing that you feel like that you need to talk to somebody else? No, everything's fine.
Stephanie Young
Or whatever.
Caller
I'm like, no, not. Everything is not fine.
Jessica
Not to trying.
Caller
So it's like, I don't know if I'm being. I was being petty by sitting there saying, oh, you know, what does babe say about this? So I don't know if I was being petty about it, but.
Lauren LaRosa
No, you're not.
Jessica
No, you're not. You're. You're addressing it because you saw something. He's never addressed it. He's never taken accountability for it. So you're not being petty. You're just, you know, you. You're trying to get it out of him, and he ain't. And he's not budging. But what you need to tell him. You're gonna lose your. Your wife. Like, you're going to lose me. You keep playing around, and I. I don't know if you are dealing with somebody at work. I don't know if you do. If you're. You know, you and your co worker got some sort of arrangement that y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Jessica
Because she text you and said, babe when I had your phone. So since we playing this game, I'm letting you know I'm. I'm not a willing player and your ass is about to be divorced. Like, I'm about you about to be by yourself so you can be with Babe, you know, freely. You gotta let him know.
Charlamagne Tha God
Literally.
Caller
That's. That's. I'm like, I. I did. Now what? One thing I did do is that I went to my best friend and I did say something to her because she's been through more stuff than I have. I've been with him since I was 17. I'm about to be 42. So it's like we've been together for a long time. And I said. I did ask him. I said, so if you see somebody else, call me babe. It won't raise flat. He said, no, not if y' all are good friends. And I know he's just saying that because he already did it.
Jessica
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't like it, babe. I don't feel good. That's weird. That's weird. And you're married, coming from a coworker, so no her to even be feeling
Caller
comfortable to call you babe. That's what I'm not understanding.
Lauren LaRosa
Like.
Jessica
And it's not even. And it's not even the situation that's gonna make you, like, that's gonna push you out the door. It's the fact that he is not taking accountability. He acting like everybody, everything is fine. He's like, no, I'm good. Like, no, it's. You know, And I don't want you to just walk out the door. You know what I'm saying? But I do want him to come clean. I don't think he's taking you serious, and I don't like that. So maybe you need to, you know, maybe he. You need that you're leaving.
Caller
I'm not ready to stop loving him and stuff like that, but it's like, I don't want to be stupid either.
Jessica
Yeah, yeah. Oh, no, I know. I don't want you to be stupid, but I don't want him to be stupid either. You know what I'm saying? I get it. But don't let.
Charlamagne Tha God
Don't.
Jessica
But don't let them make. Make you think you crazy. You know what I'm saying? If this. Even if it's not the end, even if it's really, really what you. Not what you don't want to do, he needs to wake up and see that. So maybe he need to see you leaving out the door to figure out, like, all right, look, I just need to come clean with my wife because you really don't know what you got until it's gone. That's really a thing, you know?
Caller
Yeah, and that's what I was thinking too, but it's like our family is so closely knit. I don't want to be like, oh, I'm the bad person cuz I left.
Stephanie Young
You know what I mean?
Jessica
Like, but you wouldn't have. But you wouldn't want to leave if you didn't have a reason. You get what I'm Saying so. That's what I'm saying.
Charlamagne Tha God
Don't.
Jessica
Don't think about it too much. Where you think you're crazy. You're. You're the one overreacting. No, no.
Stephanie Young
Okay.
Jessica
You're not.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, you're not.
Jessica
No problem, baby.
Caller
All right. Thank you so much. Have a good day.
DJ Envy
Good luck.
Jessica
Yes. Call me and update me.
Charlamagne Tha God
Stop calling that woman mama. Don't call that. That's somebody else woman. And you calling her mama.
DJ Envy
Shut up. Everybody mama.
Charlamagne Tha God
And that's the problem.
Jessica
No, the problem.
Charlamagne Tha God
Everybody mama. What if it's. What if, Gil? Like, what the hell you calling that woman mama for?
DJ Envy
Well, you know, that's the New York thing.
Jessica
He called a woman my mind. He called the men papa.
Charlamagne Tha God
Daddy. He called me dad. Dad.
Jessica
Boy, what are y' all talking?
Charlamagne Tha God
Don't lie.
DJ Envy
Just fix my mess. 800-585-1051.
Charlamagne Tha God
Say it.
DJ Envy
When we come back, we got.
Charlamagne Tha God
Who you giving that donkey to, Dada?
Clayton Echard
Who you giving that?
DJ Envy
Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren.
Jessica
Lauren becoming a straight face.
Charlamagne Tha God
She gets it from somebody that knows somebody.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
She be having the latest on the
Clayton Echard
latest with large Lauren LaRosa.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sometimes you have facts. Sometimes you have details. Sometimes you have a little bit of everything.
Clayton Echard
Well, it's the loot brought to you
Charlamagne Tha God
by Top Dog Law on the Breakfast Club.
Lauren LaRosa
So Dwight Howard has finally broken his silence on all of the allegations. Well, not all of them. Just one of them is specifically, he made it very clear via his Snapchat yesterday that he has never done coke on Snapchat. Yes. So he posted to a Snapchat yesterday. Never done coke in my life.
Mimi Brown
Life.
Lauren LaRosa
Y' all will believe everything y' all see on the Internet. Laugh out loud.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why he still on Snapchat? Yeah, like, why him still being on Snapchat ain't gonna stop cocaine.
Lauren LaRosa
You make money on Snap, people be making money on Snapchat. People be over there, y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, people be over on Snapchat.
Jessica
I got a deal in the works right now. But we on Instagram and they on Twitter saying he gotta go over there and say it.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, well, it made its way over to Instagram once he posted it, because all the people who reported on Amy's video holding the big bag of coke allegedly posted this. And then he posted another, like, video of himself. His face was all screwed up, and he said, me reading the hate and Slander in the comments. And then he went on about his day, you know, in LA at the Crypto Arena Arena.
Jessica
It seemed like he is like making a joke out of it too. Like he playing.
Lauren LaRosa
Everybody's been making a joke.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's true.
DJ Envy
Would anybody ever say, yeah, that cocaine was mine.
Charlamagne Tha God
You should have said it was hers because I can't believe that she showed a half a kilo of cocaine on Instagram and she not in prison yet. Also, we need Dwight Howard at the Black Effect Podcast festival. He'd be great on stage with Jeff T Club. Okay, that be fantastic. He live in Atlanta, so I'm saying, you right there, Dwight. Pull up.
Lauren LaRosa
There's a lot to talk about.
DJ Envy
Big line.
Jessica
Get right on that stage and give it up.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, in other conversations happening. So E.J. johnson, who is Magic Johnson's child legend. Yes. So he sat down with Carlos King for reality with the King, another Black Effect podcast. And he's talking about a lot of things. Number one, he says that he does not not date gay men. Let's take a listen.
Charlamagne Tha God
One of the biggest storylines on your spin off was you and your sister liking the same guy. Honestly, that is ultimately what got the show picked up. I don't attract gay men and I'm not attracted to gay men. Like, it's just not a thing, you
DJ Envy
know, Like I'm dating someone.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm like, I don't care what you
DJ Envy
identify as or what you call yourself,
Charlamagne Tha God
as long as you are happy being who you are. But no, to be honest, it's like that's why I don't really go. I don't go to gay clubs. I don't go to, you know, gay things because it's like the men that I attract are not there there. It's like, these are not my men in terms of attraction. Now, if I'm just going to have a kiki, sure, but like, these are not the men that are that are interested in me in that capacity. I do that.
DJ Envy
I'm confused.
Charlamagne Tha God
When I go to the straight rooms, man, drop on the clues bombs for ej. EJ say, I don't date gay men, but they gay after they date me. Okay. Like he confused. Like he ain't never got turned out before. I know you don't now you don't know what I'm talking about.
Lauren LaRosa
Now those prince pants make sense.
Charlamagne Tha God
EJ throw you in the S. I bet you throw you that alley. You dunk it.
Jessica
But you know what? I can see why you saying you confused. But on the women's side, Listen, I know studs that. That feel the same way.
Charlamagne Tha God
They.
Jessica
They don't like dating women who. They don't like dating gay women. They like dating. They like to be the first woman that a woman actually dates so they
DJ Envy
can be turning dudes out.
Lauren LaRosa
Not even.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, no, no. It's not even very clueless. Like, you don't know what he talking about, about. He's speaking your language.
Lauren LaRosa
It's not even just turning guys out because this is a thing that happens a lot in the community. I have a lot of gay male friends who you might not be the first man that they dated, but, like, you're not openly out or you're still trying to figure out, like, you don't claim to be gay because you're still trying to figure a lot of things out. And a lot of times, a lot of my gay friends, even when I was talking to them yesterday about this interview, one of my friends said to me, yeah, if I wanted to date somebody that was super feminine and I would date a woman, like, I want to date a. A man. So they. I don't know. There's that conversation that happens all the time. But he also talked about the fact that he thinks it's stupid that people thought that he was going to be this big NBA player. Let's take a listen to that.
Charlamagne Tha God
I've always thought that was just stupid
Jessica
that they thought that, like, I was
Charlamagne Tha God
supposed to be playing basketball or something. Like, first of all, like, do you know how difficult it is to become an NBA player? Like, number one, it's like, it's a very hard process. If I wanted to do that, then I would have done done it. But, like, I like, why are we even having this discussion? It's just so ignorant. It's just. It's so. You have to put in a lot of work to do all that. Like, I'm sure LeBron James's son, I mean, like, you know him, he's been playing his entire life. Like, and now he's, you know, he's in the NBA. But I'm like, that's something you would decide very early on in life.
DJ Envy
Oh, well, black men need to be this and need to be, you know,
Charlamagne Tha God
macho and need to be this.
Jessica
And it was, okay, well, what does
Charlamagne Tha God
anyone's femininity have to do with that? Well, that was just wishful thinking, you know what I'm saying? You Magic Johnson, son, you're the greatest point guard of all time, son. And you got the size, you know what I'm saying? And athletic ability.
DJ Envy
Six foot three. Yes, absolutely.
Lauren LaRosa
But he. He looks way taller than six two in person.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Jessica
But in his mind, he's probably like, come on.
Charlamagne Tha God
Y.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, don't be a ball player.
Jessica
That's not what he wanted to do. He did not want to, you know, shoot.
Charlamagne Tha God
The way he's wording it. He's making it seem like, you know,
Lauren LaRosa
it's so outrageous to think.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, it was just whispering. Thinking. You like, oh, that would be dope if Maddie Johnson's son played basketball. Plus, we've seen him walking five.
DJ Envy
He's six five guys.
Charlamagne Tha God
And I've seen him move gracefully in some hills. I mean.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. And I want to mention too, and. And I mess up because I did say he. But he's also in this interview, said that he had a conversation with Magic Johnson and his mom, Cookie, and they have determined he told them he doesn't want to be called he. He doesn't want to be called man. He doesn't want to be called gay or he doesn't want to be called son. And they're just okay with it because that is the rules. That.
Charlamagne Tha God
That he said, I told this.
DJ Envy
He want to be called she. Does he want to be called daughter?
Lauren LaRosa
I think we just call him ej. Yes, ej and he's returning back to the limelight of things. And I'm so excited about that because his show was amazing. But speaking of Carlos King and reality with the King.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, you talking a little too much, but it's okay.
Lauren LaRosa
The Black Effect podcast.

Jessica
Happy birthday to Lunel and Courtney B. Vance. Courtney B. Vance as Angela Bass and husband.
Charlamagne Tha God
I love Courtney B. Vance. Courtney B. Vance is one of my favorite people. Courtney B. Vance will look you in the eye and say, don't you ever, as long as you black wear your hair like that.
Jessica
Lauren, he would not say that to her.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, I mean, I was just using an example, but he always and say, don't you ever as long as you black.
Lauren LaRosa
They're doing this. That means wrap up
Charlamagne Tha God
to your daddy and say, don't you ever, as long as you black. Tell your daughter Who Cares on YouTube.
DJ Envy
All right, all right. Up next is the mix.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy we are. The Breakfast Club is Women's History Month. Who we repping today, Jess?
Jessica
We are repping Moesha Mitchell, portrayed by Brandy Norwood. She's a celebrity, celebrated, iconic, relatable and pioneering character for 90s television. The reason why I am honoring Moesha is because she was relatable and she like, she like, crafted my teenage experience. I grew up watching her. I know, me and all my friends and it's like generations on generations who also grew up watching her. She was independent and strong willed. She was a voice of a generation, passionate, creative, fashion icon and family oriented. So shout out to Moesha up here, period.
DJ Envy
All right, when we come back, it's the positive note.
Lauren LaRosa
Y' all be so dry.
Jessica
Like so dry.
Charlamagne Tha God
Cuz nobody understands why you're doing fictional characters.
Jessica
It's inspired by real lives.
Charlamagne Tha God
You hate real women. I thought you was. I thought you stood for real women. I thought you stood for real. Wow. I like.
Caller
I like all of them.
Charlamagne Tha God
The real ones, the fake ones, all of them.
DJ Envy

Most humans are never fully present in the now because unconsciously, they believe that the next moment must be important, must be more important. Important than this one. But then you miss your whole life, which is never. Not now. That is a great quote from Eckhart Tolle that I love, man. Don't worry about the future. Worry about the right now. Breakfast Club. Wake you up.
DJ Envy
Wake that ass up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Program your Alarm to Power 105.1 on iHeartradio.

The hosts maintain their authentic voices, oscillating between laughter, sharp critique, and support for mental health and personal empowerment.

The conversation moves seamlessly from playful banter to serious reflection, making for an engaging, informative, and often hilarious listen.
