Charlamagne Tha God
Breakfast Club, good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious Charlamagne, the guy we are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning, Envy Charlemagne. Jess, how y' all doing this morning?
DJ Envy
Blessed Black and Holly. How are you, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good, thank you. So let's get right into it. So we start this morning with news that could escalate tensions in the ongoing war with Iran. So starting today, the US Military says it will sit. It will begin a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most critical shipping routes in the world. So this comes after President Trump warned last week that, quote, a whole civilization will die tonight if Iran did not open reopen that waterway. Now, he addressed making those Comments during an interview yesterday on Fox News. Let's listen to what he had to say.
Donald Trump (Audio Clip)
We think that numerous countries are going to be helping us with this also. But we're putting on a complete blockade and we're not going to let Iran make money on selling oil to people that they like and not people that they don't like or whatever it is. It's going to be all or none. And that's the way it is. And it'll be, you saw, you saw what we did with Venezuela. It'll be something very similar to that, but at a, at a higher level. And I will tell you, while we're on the subject, we're very disappointed with NATO. Very, very disappointed that they didn't come. Now they want to come and they want to help with this trade and it won't take long to clean it out. So we're going to clean out the straight and they'll be able to use the straight and not too long a distance.
DJ Envy
It's a, it's insane to me that we are weak, removed from the president saying he wanted to wipe out a whole civilization, literally. I thought we were on the verge of America dropping a nuke. And then a week later, we have just moved on. Like that was a normal thing to post.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely. And that was the sound from the blockade. So the US Navy, they're essentially going to control the traffic during the straits or stopping, checking and potentially turning away any ships, especially those connected to Iran. And that's what Trump was just addressing. So this comes after a weekend that was, you know, full of promise, but ended with 21 hours of talks. Now, both sides, they failed to reach an agreement with major disagreements over Iran's nuclear program, with US Officials now saying that is the critical problem. Iran wants to keep their nuclear weapons and Trump says, no, they can't happen. That can't happen. And going back to that other audio where we talk about Trump addressing those comments that he made that you were just talking about. Charlotte, let's play that.
Donald Trump (Audio Clip)
Let me tell you, that statement got them to the bargaining table and they haven't left. They haven't left the bargaining table. I predict they come back and they give us everything we want. And I tell my people, I want everything. I don't want 90%, I don't want 95%. I told them I want everything.
DJ Envy
If you were Iran and, you know, you just had the president of the United States of America tell you that he wants to end your whole civilization, why would you stop your nuclear weapons program? Why wouldn't you want to have a nuke in your back pocket just in case when you got somebody that unstable in office here in America?
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, when he said he wants everything, they just talking about weapons or they want to control everything from here on out?
Mimi Brown
That's a great question. I think it's a little bit of everything. Right. He wants to stop their nuclear program. You know, the, the, the question of why they went into the war in the first place keeps changing. But the nuclear program, he wants to be able to control the Strait of Hormuz. So I think it's a little bit of everything. So he didn't expand into exactly what that means. But you know, he wants total control. But Iran, they are pushing back on that navy. Their navy still has, quote, full control of the strait. And in a statement, Iran's Revolutionary Guard warning that any military ships moving toward the Straight would be seen as a violation of that two week ceasefire that they came up with and would be met with strong and a forceful response. Iran says the Straight is under what they call smart management and will remain open to non military ships as long as they follow their rules. So bottom line, commercial ships can still pass, but when it comes to military vessels, Iran, they are drawing a hard line.
Charlamagne Tha God
So yeah, because negotiation is you give a little, I give a little. But, but that's not what they say. So that's not a negotiation. They just saying what they want.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, okay, they're saying what they want. Meanwhile, Trump says there's going to be a blockade. Iran says there will be no blockade because we control the Strait. So we'll see what happens. That will kick in today. Meanwhile, lawmakers, they are back in Washington today after a week long vacation Easter break. But there's still a major question that's unresolved. Will DHS workers, including TSA agents, keep getting paid? So the partial government shutdown is now lasted more than eight weeks after lawmakers came close to a deal but never finalized it. So President Trump, he signed that executive order to provide back pay for TSA and DHS workers. We talked about that, which will help, you know, that helped get more agents back to work and ease those long lines that we saw at the airport. But now there's a new concern. In a memo sent out last week, DHS warned employees that that check that they received on April 10th could be their last check until Congress reaches a funding agreement saying that future pay will only come once a deal is in place. So it is still unclear if that applies to TSA agents. So that's adding you know, more to the confusion.
DJ Envy
So how much more do you want to disrupt people's lives, man? I mean, folks are already used to living check to check, but it's very hard to live check to check if you don't even know if you got another check coming.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, exactly. So we'll follow that. And. And. But definitely, you know, TSA workers and DHS employees in general are, you know, probably all on edge, you know, with this news coming out. So coming up at 7, though, a major political campaign basically collapsing overnight. Some serious allegations are now turning maybe into a criminal investigation. We'll talk about it in the next hour.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, call us up right now. I know we can't speak to you, what, five, six days? So get it off your chest. Call us up right now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Donald Trump (Audio Clip)
It's a new day.
DJ Envy
This is your time to get it off your chest. Wait. Wake up.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
Whether you're mad or blessed, it's time
DJ Envy

Charlamagne Tha God
800-585-1051.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello?
DJ Envy
Who's this?
Caller
Good morning. This is James calling from North Carolina.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, James. What's up?
DJ Envy
What's up, James?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Good morning.
Caller
What's going on, Charles? But, yeah, I had a question for DJ Envy. When you was attending Hampton.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, sir.
Caller
You. Did you ever go to a step show and see a white fraternity or sorority performing?
Charlamagne Tha God
Sir, I went to an hbcu. There was no white fraternities or sororities.
DJ Envy
Well, you're Dominican.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm not Dominican.
DJ Envy
You mean other races can't be at an hbcu?
Charlamagne Tha God
I am black. I know there are. There are some white people, some white kids that join black fraternities and sororities, but on campus where I was, there were none.
DJ Envy
Oh, man.
Caller
And another thing. I asked this because I saw this movie called Stepsisters. It's about a white sorority that enters a step show, and the black sororities are all against it. Like, nah, this is the only thing that we have for our culture that's still ours. And you think that would happen in real life?
Charlamagne Tha God
Like, I mean, there are white fraternities, and there are white sororities and fraternities.
DJ Envy
There are. You mean like the step show?
Caller
Yeah, the step show part.
DJ Envy
Oh. Ain't nobody want to see that unseasoned step show. I ain't. I mean, the only time I'VE ever seen white people stepping is when they've been with black people because they're part of the sorority. And, you know, those guys be pretty good because they'd be around a bunch of black.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah.
DJ Envy
I mean, yeah, white sorority stepping.
Charlamagne Tha God
You do see some. Some white people on in black fraternities and black sororities. But like I said, I've never seen a white step show. I've never been asked to DJ1, nor have I ever went, so I couldn't fill you in, brother.
Caller
Oh, okay. All right. Y' all have a good day, bro.
DJ Envy
I'm looking at something now that said, the predominantly white sorority that I can't even pronounce, Zeta Tao Alpha from the University of Arkansas, won the national Sprite Step off competition and earned 100 grand back in 2010.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah. Now they all step shows. I just. I just haven't been.
DJ Envy
It's a video for them. They look ridiculous. They look like they made the band stupid.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
Who's this?
Caller
This is Dexter. Dexter from the Bronx, man. What's going on? Good morning, everyone.
Charlamagne Tha God
Dexter Wagwan.
DJ Envy
I don't want to talk to nobody. Bronx early this early in the morning, man. I'll be honest with you, Dexter.
Charlamagne Tha God
I got a good feeling about Dexter.
DJ Envy
I got.
Caller
I gotta tell you, man. I'm a small business owner, right? You know, and by the way, Jess, how you came to the Bronx a couple months ago and didn't call us, man. We're the top rated security company in the Bronx. Cpr. Security Services.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Oh, you got a dm?
Olivia (Caller)
Me?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Next time I come out there because I do salsa. Come fuego. I ain't been there in a while, but I'm coming up. I'm coming back to salsa confuego this month or next month. So, yeah, you got to drop me a dm.
DJ Envy
Are people from the. All right, all right, all right. I will. I will do people from the. Get off my chest.
Caller
This is gas prices. These gas prices are killing us right now. Small businesses and everyone living check to check. Small businesses living check to check. What's going on, man?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, now these gas prices are crazy. I mean, every time my wife has to go to the gas station or my daughter goes to the gas, they call me like, dad, is. Is this too high? I'm like, that's the norm right now. But, yeah, now they're super duper high.
Caller
Yeah, yeah. Like, my wife calls me all the time, like, hey, I need gas, and these gas prices are crazy. We're not gonna make it.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Caller
What happened to low Gas prices and groceries. Yeah.
DJ Envy
Oh, that went out the window a long time ago, sir. Actually, that never happened, by the way.
Caller
Oh, man. But I love you guys. I appreciate that. You guys taking my call. I listen to you guys every day.
DJ Envy
Can I ask you a question?
Caller
I'm on the Netflix. I ain't mad about the Netflix, but, you know, come back to YouTube a little bit more.
DJ Envy
Well, we still got clips on YouTube, but we're currently number one on Netflix in regards to podcasting. But listen, let me ask you a question. Do people respect security companies in the Bronx? Damn.
Caller
Yes.
DJ Envy
I don't believe you.
Caller
But you don't believe it. Check us out. CPR Security services.
DJ Envy
Okay, I got you.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Hello? Make sure you Send me a DM, brother. I got you.
Charlamagne Tha God
Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need the event, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Wake it up.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Charlamagne Tha God
800-5-8, 5, 10, 5, 1. We wanna hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello? Who's this?
Caller
Hey, good morning, guys. What's up? This is your boy, Dingo.
DJ Envy
Hey, Dango.
Caller
Hey, what's going on, y'?
Olivia (Caller)
All?
Caller
What's going on? Just wanted to check back in with y'. All. Hopefully y' all had a great spring break.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sure did.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yep, yep.
Caller
Beautiful, y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Caller
Beautiful, y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Caller
Well, as y' all know, y' all know your boy getting married and everything, so. And I called it a little while ago saying, you know, the family wanted us to kind of get married this year if they was gonna pay for it, right? So.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Oh, yeah, I remember.
Caller
Yeah. Yeah. So they ended up kind of retracting on that. So they ended up. We kind of. Girl got all excited, so now we're kind of, you know, we're going to end up doing it, but we go in the pants for it, so that's kind of messed up. But, hey, look, it is what it is, so.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah, at least you can do things your way. I said, now, at least you can do things your way. You don't gotta have nobody else calling shots just because they paying for it, so.
Caller
Absolutely, absolutely. But our family is still a little bit involved. They want us to do what's called marriage counseling. And I don't really know how I feel about it.
DJ Envy
Like, we don't know what that is.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Right, Like.
Caller
Well, I'm just saying. I'm just saying. I'm just saying for the people that don't know, you know, I don't really know if I feel like doing that. I feel like it's for people that might be struggling, you know?
Charlamagne Tha God
Nah, not necessarily. I mean, when we got. When me and my wife got married, we actually had to go to marriage counseling for the pastor to come in and do the wedding. Like, that's what he, you know. Yeah, yeah. He made us sit down and we had a conversation with him for him to. To. Let's see the wedding. Yeah, we had to do it.
Caller
Okay, so you saying you had to do it for the particular pastor, but if. Because we have a pastor that wants to do that too, but that's saying that you got to go through it. But we just feel like we don't really need that because we're pretty stable in our foundation and we communicate. We, you know, we feel like we're good as far as, like, our relationship and our grounding. So I just feel like an hour or two of somebody, you know, trying to get to know us and then tell us how I'm there. It should be just things a little inappropriate to me. That's just.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
It's only a few. It's only like, a few sessions y' all gotta do, though, right? Like, how many. Like, you know, how many times per week or what is it?
Caller
Yeah, a few sessions. That's like 500 bucks. Like, I mean, I just feel like, how do I gotta pay for that, you know? And I can get somebody.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I'm not the one that wanted that don't require that. Well, ask our parents to pay for it since they want it so bad. That's all, you know, Y' all pay for that. I pay for the wedding. Compromise.
Caller
Yes.
DJ Envy
But I don't know.
Caller
I just feel like it's kind of weird. I don't know if couples should be forced to do it or not. That's why I'm calling. I'm like, I don't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
It wasn't when. If I could remember. I mean, it was 24 years ago, but it wasn't that in death. It was just, you know, it would just talk about the relationship, love, and. And God in the marriage, and that's. That's basically what it was about. It was. It wasn't in depth because he doesn't, you know, they don't know your ins and outs.
DJ Envy
But, yeah, I don't remember going to no marriage counseling to get married.
Charlamagne Tha God
I did.
Caller
There we go.
Charlamagne Tha God
I did.
DJ Envy
There you go.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Depends on the church you get married in. Like, it depends.
Caller
Wow. Okay. Well, I don't know. Maybe I'm just All trying to reach out. I don't know if that was an appropriate thing to do or not. But honestly, I feel like at this point, I don't really want to listen to, you know, everything because we're paying for it now. So I feel like it's my shots, you know, saying, me and my girl.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
There you go.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good luck, brother.
Caller
Yeah, I appreciate you, man. Envy, you are right. This crap is expensive as heck. It ain't no hundred thousand like y' all doing. I'm gonna keep it under 30, but still, it's out there.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's a little. It's a little more than that, but all right. Thank you, Tyler. A lot more than.
Caller
I actually appreciate it.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm just letting my daughter handle it. All right, look, whatever baby girl want. Hello? Who's this? What's up, brother? Get it off your chest. Chario.
Caller
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Chario going once. Chario going twice. Chario gone. Get it off your chest. 800, 585.
DJ Envy
I feel like you practiced that. What? I feel like you've been practicing that at home. What said Whatever you just did just now. That was weird. That was a little weird.
Charlamagne Tha God
He said hello, and then he just. Phone call.
DJ Envy
Going once, going twice, Go. What the hell?
Charlamagne Tha God
Get it off your chest. 805. 851-051. What's up?
DJ Envy
Italy low.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, y'.
Olivia (Caller)
All.
Charlamagne Tha God
Italiano. Natalia, I know where you was at.
Lauren LaRosa
I was in Italy. I went there for the spring break.
DJ Envy
I didn't know that.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
How was the Amafi coast?
Lauren LaRosa
It was so beautiful. We went to Naples or Napoli. Me and my boyfriend, we went to.
DJ Envy
I'm still going out with that man. He ain't proposed to you or nothing yet. Taking you all anyway.
Caller
Go in.
Lauren LaRosa
We went to Capri. We went to Amalfi, like the actual town of Amalfi. We went and then we spent the last day in Naples. But we did like the ocean side. We did the countryside.
DJ Envy
It was nothing if you ain't come back with no ring. So he just out there sweating on you?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That is so dope.
Charlamagne Tha God
That is dope.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
So how was the food? Everything was great there.
Lauren LaRosa
Everything was amazing. The food was good. A lot of pasta. I don't understand how some of the people stay so skinny.
DJ Envy
It's real food. But your mom and grandma ain't tell you about leaving the country with that man. He ain't proposed to you yet.
Lauren LaRosa
My mom and grandmother love him so much. They love him and they going to love him when he does it, cuz he will, okay? Period.
DJ Envy
What are you Waiting on twice as I know you and ain't put a ring on it yet.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Third time's a charm.
Charlamagne Tha God
They put pressure on you. We have the latest coming up. What we talking about?
Lauren LaRosa
Yes, two of the biggest forces in R and B are coming together for something crazy. We gonna talk about it.
Charlamagne Tha God
We'll get to that.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
You've been working in the garage with your dad every week, Monday to Sunday, trying to get the old school up and running. Today, after all the hard work, y' all finally finished it. So you have that feeling of accomplishment. You did it. Then your dad throws you the keys and says those three magic words. All yours, son. Yep. That same car belonged to your grandpa and that your dad helped him fix. It's yours. Three generations right there, keeping the tradition alive. But if you ask dad to really keep the tradition going, you need to get insurance. And you already know you need to get State Farm because your agent, well, he gets tradition too. His dad was an agent, his grandpa too. So he gets you. Generation to generation. Remember to choose the agents that your family counted on. Like a good neighbor. State Farm is there.
Charlamagne Tha God
What up, everybody? It's DJ Emmy from the Breakfast Club. Now, you know me and my wife, married 24 years and together over 30. And yes, we still speak on the phone every day. I mean, the early days, I didn't have a cell phone. I couldn't afford a cell phone. And the cell phones were like the size of a. A man's purse. But anyway, I love speaking to my wife over the phone. People say we talk too much, but that's my best friend. Why shouldn't we be able to talk all the time? All day long? 24. 7. But did you know that 2026 will mark the 150th anniversary of the first ever phone call. It took place March 10, 1876. And that call sparked it all for the first long distant phone lines. The first lines across America. The first line across the Atlantic. The first round the world called, the first commercial cell Service, the first 911 system. AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years in so many different ways. Thank God we have cell phones. I can connect to my moms, my pops, and my whole family. Thank you. AT&T.

Lauren LaRosa
Take me through there.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
The latest with Laura Rose on the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
LL Cool baby talk to me.
Lauren LaRosa
Alrighty guys. So really quick, a moment for Usher and Chris Brown because yes my video. While we were out, Usher and Chris Brown announced that they are going to be doing a joint tour. The tour is called rb, Raymond and Brown Tour and of course fans are really excited we're going to get to see them on stage. A lot of the details have not been released yet but the fact that they're actually going on tour together and will be hit in different states and maybe we'll see some music as well too. People are really excited to hear. I know Chris Brown dropped a new song after this announcement went down as well too. We have a snippet of that song.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Listen, it's going to be a big spike in population. Everybody gonna be having babies. Everybody gonna come back pregnant on this tour. Let me tell you something, people gonna
DJ Envy
get money to even go to this show. There's so many damn shows this year. You got Jay Z, you got a new edition of Boys and Men is just ended. That's sold out En Vogue, tlc,
Jessica (Jessalarius)
everybody.
Lauren LaRosa
But I mean the ticket prices range and a lot of people have been pricing the tickets where they know everybo them because they know people and breezy ball combined. No question is it selling out. They gonna figure out that money.
DJ Envy
If I was, if I was artist I would be talking to each other like oh, yo, you going on the road anytime soon? Because this Usher, Chris Brown is going. Is going to shut everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
But they got to charge a lot, right? Because the production got to be through the roof.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Oh, it's going to be.
Charlamagne Tha God
Production's going to be crazy. If Chris Brown was flying around last time, what is he going to do this time?
Lauren LaRosa
I don't know. We know the roller skates and his trippers is going to come out there, too.
DJ Envy
They going to spend money on just oxygen tanks for both of them. Okay. Oh, my God.
Charlamagne Tha God
I can't wait to see that one.
Lauren LaRosa
All righty.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
And I never seen Usher perform live, so. Yeah.
DJ Envy
What?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah, I've been to every Chris Brown everything, but I've never seen Usher.
Lauren LaRosa
You might cry at the end of this concert. Them two together. Yes. Now, other updates and some news. So when we were here last, we talked a bit about Gucci man Pushe, and all of the things that were going down over there with the alleged kidnapping and robbery. But since we've been away, they have actually been back in court. Pooh shiesty, his dad, Big 30, and some of the other guys that were arrested. And it was determined while in court that Pooh Shiesi will remain in police custody following his arrest on kidnapping and robbery charges. This happened in a federal court in Dallas last week. And that Pooh sh's father was released on a home confinement after a. A bond of $250,000 was posted. Strict home confinement as well. Big order. Big 30 was, you know, also order to be remain detained. But a big conversation.
DJ Envy
You know, it's amazing to me that people are more upset about Gucci putting out a song about the situation than they are about what Pooh Shiesty actually did. And when we just breeze past the back that Breeze past the fact that he was with his father. That don't sound crazy to you?
Charlamagne Tha God
When you say people are upset, what people are you about? Okay, all right. Just be clear because it's stupid as hell. You just got home.
DJ Envy
It's insanity.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you and your pops, he was
Lauren LaRosa
only out for about maybe six months, seven months.
Charlamagne Tha God
Do some stuff like.
DJ Envy
Like people like free Poo Shiesty. I'm like, what do you mean when you say free them? Exactly. Because when I say free somebody, it's because they're in jail unjustly or because there's some type of political prisoner. But he just came home for robbing somebody.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
And then went back to prison for robbing somebody. Like, come on, bro.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, the song that you guys are Talking about that Gucci dropped is called Crash, dummy.
DJ Envy
That song is very immature but boy is damn it. But I don't like it because I
Charlamagne Tha God
don't think you should have did this.
DJ Envy
I don't think he should have.
Lauren LaRosa
I thought it was fake.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't think you should have did this.
DJ Envy
Gucci man is hey Tobin, don't miss yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Gucci is a, he's a businessman. He is an executive. He's a CEO. He's a dad.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ish happens. This is when he goes out of goes back into that CEO and just lets just let it play out. I don't think he shouldn't release that record.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Well I mean he's an artist and it's definitely giving old Gucci Gucci. I mean I, I, I.
DJ Envy
But it's, but it's immature. It's irresponsible to do a record like that at a time like this. But yeah, man, this whole situation just pissed me off. It pissed me off number one that it happened because I know Push Athy Pusha would never do that to a white executive ever. Right. Like and none of these guys would do that to a white executive. But it also pissed me off. Just the reaction. People are more upset at Gucci and him putting out a song than they are what Pooh Shiesty actually did. And Pooh Shiesty just came home from a bid for doing something similar. Well also, why are we not mad at him and his daddy throwing your life away.
Charlamagne Tha God
I am easy. He's a huge influencer. Yes. The the Mask is called a Shiesty now. These kids follow him. He had a number one record beating out Mariah Carey at one point. Like he has the influence number one
Lauren LaRosa
on the Apple music charts over all I want for Christmas for a while when he first came home.
DJ Envy
You shouldn't have went and got your daddy and a bunch of guys and some guns. You should have went and got a good lawyer.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
But how can we expect anything other than that? His father, that's what his father do. His father raised him like that. That's how his father's known for.
Charlamagne Tha God
When you get, when you get to the point where you say, you know what? I gotta do what's best for my son and and for best for my son is not seeing him back in that hole. Not seeing him back behind bars, not seeing him back in that.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Well, that's all they know.
Lauren LaRosa
A lot of the A lot of
Charlamagne Tha God
filthy you rich, you got bread.
Lauren LaRosa
A lot of the upset conversation online is like whether Gucci Cooperated, didn't whatever. And there were attorneys outside this hearing. Big 30s attorney actually made a statement that kind of changed the conversation when he says that Gucci Mane is not cooperating. Let's take a listen.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
The interesting thing that we've seen in
DJ Envy
the last couple of days is that Gucci Mane has come out publicly and
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
said that he's not cooperating with the government now.
DJ Envy
Well, the government said that he has cooperated with them. I was going to say there was an FBI agent who said that Gucci provided a statement to Dallas police after the incident. But giving a statement doesn't mean he's working with the feds long term, doesn't mean he's testifying in court, doesn't mean he's an informant. It means he probably a police report because he needs one for insurance purposes for all that jewelry and stuff that got stolen. Yeah, but guess what? Even if he did tell, I wouldn't care. Okay, they need to get told on. Why shouldn't they get told on for doing something like that?
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, the conversation is, is if Gucci's a street dude and this is supposed to street. That's, that's what the original conversation was. That's what people were upset about. But like you said, you could say used to be. But also if I get robbed of a million dollar plus of jewelry.
Caller
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
If anybody has anything and you have to report to, you just can't call the insurance company. Like, I got robbed.
DJ Envy
Give me money. You got to do a police report.
Charlamagne Tha God
There's a police report. And the police report, you have to show a police report. Just like if your car is stolen, you just can't call insurance company, say, my car is stolen. There has to be a police report.
DJ Envy
And also, do y' all know that Gucci security was an off duty police officer?
Lauren LaRosa
Yes, and that's what I was going to clarify. The, the police report that you're talking about. Yeah, they were off duty police officers. The police report was taken tonight of I'm assuming he was speaking to his security guards. And the federal agents are saying since then there's been no cooperation from any of the ve victims, which is leaving them in kind of like a limbo. And Pooh Shiesty's attorney outside of the courtroom also said because they don't have these now additional conversations with these people that are victims, Gucci man, all these other people, they think that the case is going to be like basically a bunch of BS because they're also saying that there were no cameras inside of the studio. As well, too. But we just have to follow to see what happens.
DJ Envy
I thought they said they did have surveillance and digital records and multiple witness accounts.
Lauren LaRosa
So they have photo. It's an office building. They have photos from outside of, like, them leaving and exiting.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
You have.
Lauren LaRosa
They have witnesses, witness statements or accounts from that night. But the attorneys outside of the courtroom said since then there's been no conversation between the victims and the federal agents and that they don't have enough strong video evidence from inside of the studio to pin anything. So basically push IC and big 30s attorneys are saying that they don't think that this is going to stick.
Charlamagne Tha God
They have the artist wearing the jewelry and the watches, right? Well, they're also the cameraman who. Who has
DJ Envy
an ankle monitor on.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes, they have that.
DJ Envy
He's there. He has an ankle monitor.
Lauren LaRosa
Listen, I'm just telling you what they said outside of the courtroom. They're going to add up. It's not going to stick. Because what we saw when everything the indictment first dropped and what they have when you go deep into it are not equally.
DJ Envy
I just want to know what was the other plans? There was no other plans. If that was a white executive, they would have came up with multiple things to do to this white executive, and none of them would have included pulling the pistols out on this dude. And Robin.
Charlamagne Tha God
The sad thing about it is they probably thought Gucci was their friend, their man. Most white executives wouldn't have been their friend. Wouldn't have been their guy. Wouldn't have been their homie.
DJ Envy
Wouldn't have gave him a friend. Your man. What the hell are y' all talking about here?
Charlamagne Tha God
But they probably looked at him differently.
DJ Envy
Their logic makes no sense to me. No.
Crystal Renee Haslet
So it's 2026.
Lauren LaRosa
You're Pooh Shiesy.
Charlamagne Tha God
This is Gucci, man.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, we just go walk home and just go to sleep and wake up and everything's regular next day. We got it right.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm getting a good attorney.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm not even going to be there if I'm any of these people. Criminals to wrap up, y'.
Crystal Renee Haslet
All.
DJ Envy
Hey, this the moral of the story, kids. Criminal nigga logic makes no sense to me.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, it does not.
DJ Envy
Have a great morning. We'll be back with more Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back in some front page news. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning, Envy. Jess. Charlamagne. How y' all doing this morning?
DJ Envy
Peace. Mimi Brown.
Mimi Brown
Good morning. So we start this hour with major political fallout here in California that could spread to the halls of Congress. So Eric Swalwell, a sitting member of Congress, is suspending his campaign for California governor following serious allegations of sexual misconduct. In a statement posted on X, Swalwell said he is stepping aside to fight what he calls false accusations outside of the campaign, while acknowledging that what he described as past mistakes in judgment. Now, the accusations, they were first reported late last week. They include sexual or claims from a former staffer who says she was sexually assaulted. Swalwell has repeatedly denied these allegations. Let's listen.
Caller
No, it's false. And also, you know, some of the allegations I've seen, which is that we've
DJ Envy
had NDAs in the office.
Caller
Never. There's never been an allegation, and there's never been a settlement. And, you know, I will also just take stock that, look, we're.
DJ Envy
We're 27 days before an election starts. If I was Eric, if I was Eric Swalwell, I wouldn't have suspended my campaign. Absolutely not. If the President of the United States of America can be found liable for sexual abuse and have all the allegations he has and still run and win, I'm not dropping out. Furthermore, Joe Biden faced several allegations of inappropriate touching and an allegation of sexual assault. So. And they didn't make him suspend his campaign. So if I was Eric, I wouldn't have suspended my campaign. And Democrats shouldn't be forcing them to suspend it.
Mimi Brown
Well, a lot of Democrats are calling on him to suspend his campaign, even, you know, asking him to step down out of Congress as well. Now, when he was in that sound bite, he was referring to the, you know, California governor primary race, which is taking place on June 2nd. But, you know, there's many women now have come out, including that former staffer we were just talking about. She says that he sexually assaulted her in a New York hotel while she was heavily intoxicated. She's now speaking to cnn, and here is some of what she had to say. After that bar closed, we went to another.
Accuser (Audio Clip)
I went to the bathroom, and I
DJ Envy
don't remember anything after that.
Accuser (Audio Clip)
I can see flashes of that evening.
Mimi Brown
In my flash that I can recall. I was pushing him off of me, saying, no.
Lauren LaRosa
I woke up the next morning naked,
Mimi Brown
alone in his hotel room. I for a moment, didn't even know
Lauren LaRosa
I was in his hotel room.
Mimi Brown
That's how intoxicated I was.
Crystal Renee Haslet
When was this?
Mimi Brown
Well, this was, I believe, in 2024. Yeah, this allegation was in 2024. Now that allegation is now under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. And at the same time, prosecutors here in California, they're reviewing whether a separate incident that is from 2019 could involve criminal conduct. Now, three other women, they've also come forward alleging various forms of sexual misconduct, including explicit messages. Now, Swalwell, he denies those claims as well. But as we were just talking about the political fallout, it has been immediate. Top allies, including California Congressman Adam Schumann, shipped. He pulled his endorsement. Within hours, his campaign manager stepped down, and more than 50 former staffers, they signed a letter calling for him to drop out and to resign from Congress. And so now questions are growing about the future, his future on Capitol Hill, with several lawmakers, you know, urging him to step down from office altogether.
DJ Envy
I just want to know why.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
You have a choice.
DJ Envy
What do you say?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
So we technically, he technically don't have a choice because everybody else, this campaign manager, everybody else is, like, pulling their money and everything. So he don't even have a choice.
Mimi Brown
Well, also before this, he was considered a top contender to replace Governor Gavin Newsome out here. And so now that race is just thrown into even more uncertainty with, you know, no one now really being the front runner. What were you going to say, Charlotte?
DJ Envy
I just want to know why the rules don't apply for everyone equally, all across the board. Like, how come some politicians have to suspend their campaigns when they have these accusations and some don't? Like, it's just no consistency, especially in
Mimi Brown
the day that we're living in. But, you know, again, like Jess mentioned, which is a really good point, there are a lot of people coming down, and there's a lot of mounting pressure on him right now. So we'll continue to see what happens with that. And staying in politics, New York City Mayor Zoran Mandami is marking 100 days in office and making the case that this is just the beginning. He told a crowd of supporters in Queens that his first few months in office have been a successful success, pointing to what he calls early wins. Let's listen.
DJ Envy
We began with a promise. Universal child care. And by day eight, we delivered it. We are going after the bad landlords who violate our laws and mistreat their tenants.
Charlamagne Tha God
Since January 1, we have won more than $34 million in settlements, judgments, and repairs for tenants.
DJ Envy
Since we took office. Murders have hit record lows. There has not been a murder on Staten island in more than 180,000 days. Crime in our city is down.
Mimi Brown
So, yes. He went on to say that his administration, they're rolling out plans to expand bus lanes to speed up commutes, clean up the city's trash problems, and launching a government subsidized grocery store aimed at lowering food prices in East Harlem. But while he did highlight progress, there are some limits. Some of the biggest promises, like making buses free, they've stalled, but that's largely due to costs and pushback from state agencies. And New York, of course, is facing a major multibillion dollar budget gap that's going to make it harder for him to deliver on some of those promises. But he is leaning into what he calls everyday fixes. Better sanitation, faster commutes, and more accessible services. What he calls pothole politics.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm curious about the city run grocery stores. I know they opened one in Harlem and the goal is to have one in every borough so that way they can lower the prices on some of the, you know, the eggs, the food, the juices and stuff like that. So, so I'm really, I really want to know more about that because with only one store, do you know what the lines will be for that one store? For people to try to get some savings. So, I mean, I commend them for doing it.
DJ Envy
The universal childcare is a big deal too, though. You got to drop on the Kuz bombs, who's on Ramadani and the universal childcare. Getting that path, that was a big one. I know we like, we speed past that and we say it, but that's bringing a lot of relief to a lot of people.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely. And that's a really good point too. Envy. I didn't think about that with the lines and that. And yes, the goal is to get it in all five boroughs, you know, he said before his term is up. So definitely some good points there. And lastly to a developing story that's drawing national attention. A family searching for answers after a birthday trip ends in tragedy. So 31 year old Miami influencer Ashley Janay, whose real name is Ashley Robinson, she's died under mysterious circumstances while on a trip to Tanzania. So Robinson, she was found unresponsive in her room at a luxury resort in Zanzibar and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Now, she traveled there to celebrate her birthday and during that trip, her fiance, Joe McCann, he proposed, but now questions are growing. Her fiance told authorities that she died by suicide, claim her family and close friends, they are strongly disputing, calling for a full investigation into what really happened. Now, in a joint statement, her family says, quote, one moment she was celebrating love and life and the next she was gone. Adding the sudden loss, the unambiguous answered questions and the distance from home have made this even more devastating. An active investigation is now underway with the family working alongside local authorities. They are also warning that any information not coming directly from them should be treated with caution. So far, U. S. Officials, nor the Tanzanian authorities, they have really. They have not released any details.
DJ Envy
That's horrible, man. Send the healing energy to her and her family, man. That's horrible. Hope they find out what, whatever.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely, absolutely. Very, very heartbreaking story. All right, y'. All, Well, I hate to end on a sad note, but that is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me @mimi Brown TV. And for more stories, follow the black information network.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, thank you, Mimi. Now, when we come back, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Nikki Glazier, she was doing her podcast and the sentiments was, I don't care if my husband has sex with other women.
DJ Envy
First of all, Nikki wasn't doing her podcast. She was on the call her daddy podcast with Alex Cooper.
Charlamagne Tha God
Call her daddy podcast.
Olivia (Caller)
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's listen what they said.
Nikki Glaser (Audio Clip)
The guy has a sexual connection with a girl and, like, he was to use protection and just have sex with her for a night. Like, I don't, I literally wouldn't care if my husband did that. I don't know why emotional cheating would hurt me, but, like, physical, I'm just like, I just feel like I understand how sex is for men most of the time outside of relationship, it's just kind of transactional and it's just like, they just want to. I would always ask anyone I was with to be like, if you develop feelings for the ones, tell me and we'll deal with it. Like, I just don't want to be blindsided. But if you want to have sex with someone else, also tell me about it because I want to, like, see what she looks like and, like, ask about it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, let's open the phone line. Let's just take your thoughts. We'll break it down when we come back. 800-585-1051 is the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now, if you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. We were talking about a clip that we saw on the. What's the name of that podcast? Charlama.
DJ Envy
Oh, this is the call her daddy podcast with Alex Cooper.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, Nikki Glaser was talking about her husband, and if her husband had sex with other women. Let's listen to. Listen.
Nikki Glaser (Audio Clip)
A guy has a sexual connection with a girl, and, like, he was to use protection and just have sex with her for a night. Like, I don't. I literally wouldn't care if my husband did that. I don't. I don't know why emotional cheating would hurt me, but, like, physical. I'm just like. I just feel like I understand how sex is for men most of the time outside of relationship, it's just kind of transactional, and it's just like, they just want to. I would always ask anyone I was with to be like, if you develop feelings for the ones, tell me, and we'll deal with it. Like, I just don't want to be blindsided. But if you want to have sex with someone else, also tell me about it, because I want to, like, see what she looks like and, like, ask you about it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, Nikki Glacier, of course, is a comedian.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yes. Shorty is a man's best friend. That's all I could say. I understand where she coming from, but that's different for certain people, because the part I do understand is the emotional cheating. Like, it. Because y' all didn't play that part. But she was like, now, if you watch Wire. If you watch the Wire with a. All right, cool. It's some type of sentimental value there. You know what I mean? If you. You texting her, you know, y' all got, like, I have a conversation and all that. You buying gifts. All right, cool. That's more emotional than just physical.
Caller
Cool.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
But I still wouldn't tolerate none of it.
DJ Envy
That's also why, you know, it cuts so deep when a woman cheats on a man, because men know that women just ain't out here giving it up. Like, you know what I'm saying? If you're giving it up to a man, then that man done connected with you in some emotional, mental, sometimes, you know, spiritual way. And that's really what. Really what hurts. I mean, don't get me wrong, too. You know, putting another in your mouth hurts as well. But, yeah, I'm just saying it's the emotional connection that. That really hurts as well. I sent that video to my wife last night in the TV text, and now that I think about it, I haven't spoken to her since I sent it and went to sleep, so I don't even know if she saw it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, yeah, well, what I mean, I went to sleep. I mean, I would think. Would you have a problem with that at all, Jess, if let's say your husband cheated and it wasn't a connection, emotional or deep.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yes. I would still have a problem with it. I absolutely would have a problem with it.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know many people have a problem with it.
Caller
Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I'm not out here doing the same thing now. It sound like Nikki got be having her little passes too. Like, you know, does the rules go the same for her? Like, is her husband okay with her just, you know, you know, slashing and dashing? Like, whatever. I'm smashing and dashing. Like, you just smashing somebody one night, you'll never gotta see him again. There's no connection. If both of them got that understanding, cool. Me and Chris will never, ever have that understanding. I don't even know if he thinking that. Don't you know what I'm saying? Like, nah, it ain't. No, that would never be nothing like that.
DJ Envy
Because the other thing too is, you know, when you lay down with somebody physically, it ain't just that, like, there's herpes out here. There's. There's hiv, AIDS still out here in these streets. There's gonorrhea, there's chlamydia. There's just bad energy. Like, we forget about these spiritually transmitted diseases, pregnancy.
Charlamagne Tha God
There's a whole bunch of things that
DJ Envy
now my pills balance all off. Cause you out here just sleeping around. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ew, Troy.
Olivia (Caller)
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, Troy, what's your thoughts?
Olivia (Caller)
I think that there's such things called empathy, sex and, like, sad sex. And I've never left anybody for cheating with sex, so I. I think it's true.
DJ Envy
So you don't care if a man has sex with other women?
Olivia (Caller)
No.
DJ Envy
Damn. What's your Instagram?
Charlamagne Tha God
You shut up. But are you going to do the same thing with yourself? Like, if you see somebody, are you able to have sex like that as well?
Olivia (Caller)
Yeah, I'm a Scorpio. Being Scorpio, I can if. If I want to. And it's my body. I do. I want to, like. But if we have an agreement that he don't want to do that, then I'm cool.
DJ Envy
You don't know what you're doing. You just out here giving it up.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's an open relationship. That's what that is.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah, she just out here.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello. Hello. Who's this?
DJ Envy
Hi.
Olivia (Caller)
Hi. DJ Envy. It's Olivia from Long Island. How are you?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, Olivia from Long Island. Talk to us. What's your thoughts?
Olivia (Caller)
First, I just want to say hi to the whole Breakfast Club. I love y'.
Crystal Renee Haslet
All.
Olivia (Caller)
So much. I listen every day. But I just want to say I absolutely care about whether or not my husband is. Is faithful to me. I'm not married, but I've been with my spouse for 13 years, and we'll be married next month. Right?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Congratulations.
Olivia (Caller)
Thank you so much. And congratulations to all of you. Y' all doing big things. I love y' all so much. But of course, I care about if you faithful to me or not. I mean, if you don't have not enough self respect, not for me, but for yourself, about discretion and being faithful and monogamous in your relationship, you can't, you know, maintain, you know, your penis and keep your jump in your pants to show your commitment in your relationship. Yes, I care. I care about who you exchanging sexual, you know, your stuff with. Are you crazy? What's the point? That's not a. That's not a committed relationship.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Right.
Olivia (Caller)
Something else. That's a open marriage. I mean, if that's what you. I mean, to each his own. You know, you dictate what you want in every relationship, but I think that that's a setup. And then you can't get married. When you invite all this other energy in your relationship, all these other people, that creates problems. So now when things go to the left, who are you pointing fingers at?
Caller
You invited that, right?
DJ Envy
You know what's so crazy? The older I get, the more I realize how crazy sex is. Like, I don't think we realize what we doing when we having sex. We're actually getting naked, right. And you're letting somebody lay on top of you, be inside of you. You're going inside of somebody going inside of you. Just think about how intimate sex and how vulnerable you are when you're having sex. You ain't supposed to be out here just doing that with any and everybody.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, but it's like the thing. Yeah, you learn. You learn about sensual and you learn about sex, and you learn about love when you get a little older. Right. Because you don't look at it the same way anymore. But anybody that. That does not care if their spouse is knocking off anybody else, I don't
DJ Envy
think they really love their spouse.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, they don't really love their spouses.
DJ Envy
I'm gonna be honest.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Or they knocking off somebody else or
Charlamagne Tha God
they have an open relationship. Like, that's.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That's crazy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, if you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. We're talking about Nikki Glazier. She was on the Call Her Daddy podcast. And this is what she said.
Nikki Glaser (Audio Clip)
A guy has a sexual connection with a girl and like, he was to use protection and just have sex with her for a night. Like, I don't. I literally wouldn't care if my husband did that. I don't. I don't know why emotional cheating would hurt me, but like, physical, I'm just like. I just feel like I understand how sex is for men most of the time outside of a relationship, it's just kind of transactional and it's just like they just to want on. I would always ask anyone I was with to be like, if you develop feelings for the ones, tell me and we'll deal with it. Like, I just don't want to be blindsided. But if you want to have sex with someone else also tell me about it. Cuz I want to, like, see what she looks like and like, ask you about it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now Jess said she would not have a problem if her man stepped out.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Boy, don't ever play with me like that. No, stupid.
DJ Envy
Don't know what he doing. He just out here giving it up.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Stop playing. No, I would have. I definitely would have a problem with that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Then we go into the phone lines. We have Maya on the line. Maya, good morning.
Olivia (Caller)
Good morning. How y' all doing?
Charlamagne Tha God
How you feeling this morning?
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Good morning, Maya.
Olivia (Caller)
I'm good, I'm good.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's your thoughts, mama?
Olivia (Caller)
It didn't make no sense. I's a Caribbean woman living in Savannah, and I can tell you this. Women who believe that their mind gotta sleep without they know they in their mind number one. So they went into the card, okay? He with other people. As long as I got the mind. You understand what I'm saying?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Okay.
DJ Envy
As long as she got the what?
Olivia (Caller)
As long as she have the mind.
DJ Envy
Oh, you said as long as you got the mind. I don't agree with that, man. Cuz that penis can get diseases. Y' all be saying as long as that person just got the mind. But that penis can be out there sleeping with different women and bringing you back yeast infections and then your PH balance all off.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello? Who's this?
Caller
Shahid from Jersey City. What's going on?
Charlamagne Tha God
City talk to us. What? Your brother?
Caller
All right. Hey, peace. Good morning, y'. All.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning.
Caller
Check it out, right? So the lady's logic that she's doing is actually an oxymoron, me being someone who talks about relationships on regular emotional cheating and physical cheating. She has to understand if someone cheats physically, that's going to turn into something emotionally eventually. So to allow Someone to go out and stew themselves according to, you know, the world and think that they're not gonna find someone different is bananas. A lot of times people start to share their opinions in certain places and their opinions become the gospel truth. That's what we notice. A lot of times those truths then trigger people to believe what these people are talking about without any concept of what they're talking about. She's going off the narrative that men change cheat just to cheat and women cheat emotionally. That's the narrative that she's going off of not understanding that men have emotions and feelings too. So depending on who he's with, he will indefinitely have feelings for that person.
DJ Envy
It's a good point, my brother. It's a good point. I like the way you frame because it is true. Like, she's looking at her. She's looking at all men and generalizing all men. Like, we don't make emotional connections with people.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
Caller
Who's this is Eddie from Dayton.
Charlamagne Tha God
Eddie from Dayton, talk to us. What's your thoughts?
Caller
Good morning. Good morning, y'.
Olivia (Caller)
All.
Caller
First, I don't, I don't never think it's a good, good idea to introduce somebody else into your relationship. Women are always potential fatal attractions, especially when she knows she the other woman. Old girl can start off okay with it, but it's not okay, you know, if it's good to her and she wants more. She wind up, you know, pulling up to her job or, you know, she wanted with a her pet bunny in a pot of boiling water, then it's a problem. That's what happened when you give dudes a green light.
DJ Envy
First of all, that sounded delicious. A pet bunny in a pot of boiling water. You ain't never had rabbit stuff. Rabbit stew is fire. God, yeah.
Caller
Not with the fur on it, bro. Not with the fur.
DJ Envy
Oh, yeah, yeah, you got to shave the fur off. But boy, that rat, man, Rabbit's still good as hell. You crazy. Rabbit's still with mushrooms and the little cut up carrots you ain't never have, bro.
Caller
Like, if it's your kids, y' all ain't never see the movie. But no, it's a dumb idea, man. Like, keep other people out your relationship if you can. If the sex was good enough to marry her, it should be enough for her to be the only one you banging.
DJ Envy
I agree with you.
Charlamagne Tha God
Thank you, brother. Yeah, I agree with you too, brother. Thank you, brother. What's the moral of the story if there is a moral?
DJ Envy
I mean, I guess the moral of the story is to each his Own. But I just want us to think about what sex is like. Sex is not something you just be out here, you know, passing out, like, you sharing cigarettes at. At work.
Caller
Like.
DJ Envy
Like, think about the intimacy. Think about how vulnerable you are when you butt ass naked, you know, letting somebody get inside of you and sweat all over you. Like, no, like, and.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
And we talk about, like, no, no, for real.
DJ Envy
But then STDs and everything. Like, you're not just. You're not just going out here sleeping around. And I love the point that the. The brother made earlier when he was like, men make emotional connections, too. You sit there and think, your man not making an emotional connection with a woman. You bullshit hugging.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's right.
DJ Envy
Yeah, absolutely.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Maybe it was just the men that she didn't have that she felt like maybe she'd been cheated on by all men. And they. Those are the guys that don't make emotional connections. They just have physical connections. That's it. Oh.
Charlamagne Tha God
Like Charlamagne said earlier, maybe she realized she really don't love the man like she thinks she does.
DJ Envy
That's true.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That's true, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right.
DJ Envy
Oh, and you know what else, man? We've been gone for, what, shoot, six days. Actually longer because you count the weekends.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah, it was longer than that.
DJ Envy
You count the weekend. We've been gone for, like, 10 days. Days. I want to do people's donkey today. I usually do people's donkey on Friday, but I got to catch up because I don't know who y' all wanted me to give donkey to throughout the week. Like, I know the Pooh Shies and all of that stuff like that, but I want to hear from people. I want to hear, who did I miss for donkey last week that y' all wanted me to give donkey of the day to call up right now. 1-800-585-1051. This the world's most dangerous morning show to Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Because I just want to say one thing. I was mad at the shooting at Chick Fil A. How do you shoot in Chick Fil A?
DJ Envy
Oh, I saw that. That was crazy. That was crazy. Even caught the people yet.
Charlamagne Tha God
Damn. All right. People's donkeys gonna happen in a little bit. 800-585-105.

Crystal Renee Haslet
Little brown girls look at you and
Jessica (Jessalarius)
go, I want to be like you.
DJ Envy
Take me through that.
Olivia (Caller)
Take me through there.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
The latest with Laura on the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
LL Cool B, talk to me.
Lauren LaRosa
All righty, y'. All, I want to congratulate us, the Breakfast Club, because there was news released that Samba tv, which is a TV data analytics company, has their new inaugural Girl Netflix podcast Ranker. Now, on that podcast Ranker list, there are a list of top 20 podcasts on Netflix. And can you guys guess which podcast is number one?
DJ Envy
Who is it?
Lauren LaRosa
The Breakfast Club. Yes.
DJ Envy
Thank you to all the viewers, by the way, for watching us on Netflix, everybody.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, so this. This number one is number one by views, views and total minutes consumed. And in the conversation around this list, if you go and read the article, Sampa TV is basically talking about how the way that people view and consume podcasts in their living room through Netflix is just chartering a whole new lane, and we are breaking through in that.
DJ Envy
And by the way, that's only on television. That's not even including mobile phones. And just one other fun fact. Breakfast club makes up 40% of all podcasts viewing on Netflix for the first quarter of all podcast viewing on Netflix. Just wanna throw that out there.
Lauren LaRosa
I know that's right.
DJ Envy
Thank you to the viewers, though.
Charlamagne Tha God
We appreciate all the views.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes, yes, yes. Now, shifting gears a bit. Things that were viewed or went down over the break. So, Diddy, we've been talking a bit about the appeal that he was waiting to hear arguments on or his team was waiting to. So that happened last week. And just real quickly, a summary of what went down. So his team is basically arguing that he only acted in amateur or conducted amateur porn and that he was over sentenced with this 50 months. Right now, the prosecution is saying, no, that's not what happened. He was sentenced the way he should have been, and we actually took it easy on him. But in the appeals hearing, there is. It's the Second Circuit Court, there's a panel of judges who are rehearing this case, and I think they're being fair on both sides. They're being tough on both the prosecution and the defense, and they're basically saying they're asking questions about a guideline. So basically, there was a new guideline that was established during the time that he was in court. This guideline would make it where Any acquitted conduct. So you guys remember the judge said that the court or the jury could consider the force, the coercion, like all the violence, the Cassie video or whatever when they made their decision. Right? So this guideline would make it where you're not supposed to consider any of that because if you're acquitted, if you're acquitted of an act, you're acquitted of conduct. Now the prosecution is saying the judge didn't ignore that guideline. He just used it narrowly because they were originally asking for a lot more time than what did he got. The defense is saying that's not true. So now they're waiting and there has been no update. We're basically on appeal watch. The decision could come down any day. So I've been reaching out to Diddy's team like almost every morning to just see where they are, but they think it'll happen somewhere within a six week range because this is expedited.
DJ Envy
It's impossible for jurors not to consider. But, you know, that's why back in the day when you had. When you were on a jury, you wasn't supposed to watch tv, you wasn't supposed to listen to the radio. And it probably was way easier.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was way easy. It's impossible now.
DJ Envy
In the early 1900s.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's impossible now. You need your phone for everything.
DJ Envy
How can you escape it? Yeah, you can escape it.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. I mean, but even if you couldn't escape it, just the conversation of everything you saw in court, if you stayed off social media, everything you saw in court, when it came to the violence and all that stuff, they're trying to figure out whether or not that should be added in. Yeah. So we'll keep you guys updated there. And in other new news, Remy Ma. Remy Ma dropped a new freestyle over the weekend.
DJ Envy
I know y' all want to get into the salaciousness and all of the subliminals or whatever it is, I'm just. Just. Remy can rap, bro. I just like to hear Remy rap.
Lauren LaRosa
It just flow so well.
DJ Envy
Effortless. It's effortless with R. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
So the name of the name of the freestyle is W Y F L Y U F in lion out now on all platforms.
DJ Envy
Hold on. But drop on the cl Buffer on the radar. I got Gabe.
Lauren LaRosa
Gabe on the radar. Yes.
DJ Envy
I give Gab his credit.
Lauren LaRosa
Always giving G his credit. Yes. Remy did do an honor radar as well after dropping the freestyle. Now getting into the freestyle. Okay, the line when Remy is talking about somebody writing things and not being able to help themselves with helping everybody People are pointing out as a direct shot at Papoose. There's a line about, you know, being a baddie but not being bad enough and, you know, wanting to copy certain things.
Accuser (Audio Clip)
Things.
Lauren LaRosa
People are pointing that that may be a direct shot at Clarissa Shields. And yeah, I mean, now the Internet is debating whether or not who. Who responds.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Well, the song is called why you effing lying? You know what I'm saying? And she's been quiet for a while. She ain't been saying nothing. And so she just been sitting back letting people speak on her even when they ain't supposed to or whatever, you know what I'm saying? And this is what she dropped straight out the gate. Why you effing lines?
DJ Envy
Papa always just. He just always wishes her the best. Like, that's all you ever hear pap say when he.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah, that's all you ever hear.
Lauren LaRosa
But she. To Jess's point, though, Remy has never come out and addressed the fact that there were. There were claims made that he wrote certain things, which is a. I mean, they went back and forth on live, but that's like a big knock to, you know, what Remy has happening. So this is her clearing that up.
DJ Envy
And I. I just know Remy's a gifted rapper. I love hearing Remy rap.
Charlamagne Tha God
She gets busy. I can't wait to her project. And that's a. It's a rhythm. It's a wyfl rhythm. So it's a. A reggae beat that everybody's rocking on. So that's why she plays off of that. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay. And I did. See, I don't even know if we have time to. But I saw that Pap did Vlad, and Vlad had asked him about the whole Clarissa. Remy. I don't know if they ever get away from this also, too. Every. Everywhere they go. Let's take a listen.
Charlamagne Tha God
Remy accuses you of cheating with Clarissa Shields. And she had posted some text messages and so forth as proof. When did you and Clarissa actually meet?
DJ Envy
Me and Clarissa met July 2024, Vlad. We met at the Shakur Stevenson, New Jersey. But the next day after we met, we talked through the dm and she said, hey, great. It was great meeting you, papoose. But, you know, when you talk to a dm, what does it have on it, Vlad? Timestamp in the day, you know, like I said, nothing bad to say about her. You know what I mean? I wish her the best, but there are people on social media who push these false narratives about, oh, they've been together and this and that, you know, why we Won't ever get past that because of people like Lauren LaRosa. We could have just left it at rims right after, but she wanna be. Be messy and bring that in. You know what I'm saying? Even though pap has every right to, you know, you know, clean up whatever narratives is out there. But still, we didn't have to connect that just now. But Lauren did that well. Yo, R, that was Lauren.
Lauren LaRosa
She's watching the show and she just
DJ Envy
pressed it one time.
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning, Remy.
DJ Envy
I think she might need another press
Lauren LaRosa
because press her again.
DJ Envy
I think she might need a real presser press, right? You gave her a little light press.
Charlamagne Tha God
Remy told me she's changed. She's a CEO. She doesn't do that.
DJ Envy
She's saying you need to shut your ass.
Lauren LaRosa
She looking for you too.
DJ Envy
She said she was looking for your ass. That was her. She did say she going to take your jacket.
Lauren LaRosa
I didn't think you've done anything wrong up here now.
Charlamagne Tha God
She was in my jacket.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
She said she was going to take it, but that she forgot that people, you know, don't know that she's playing.
Lauren LaRosa
Came about that jacket, though.
Charlamagne Tha God
She can't run faster than me. Skating on R. I don't believe that.
DJ Envy
I believe her in.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
But the song is a bop, though. The beat her bars hard. She sound like she never.
Lauren LaRosa
Clean version we should. We cut. We had to cut it.
Charlamagne Tha God
I got a clean version. All right, well, that is the latest with Lauren. Now who you giving your donkey to?
DJ Envy
Listen, we've been gone for a whole week, right? So there was a lot of people folks wanted to give donkey of the day to. So I said, man, open up the phone lines and let people call in and catch us up, catch us up to speed, okay? Because I've lost track of all the people y' all wanted me to give D to last week. So just call in right now, 1800-584-1051, and we'll let you give people donkey today. Catch us up to speak.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right. It's the breakfast Club. Good morning.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
It's your time to nominate a donkey of your own.
DJ Envy
Remember now, that is how they choose.
Charlamagne Tha God
Call in now, 800-5851-051.
DJ Envy
Yes. Donkey today for Monday, April 13th. It's going to whoever y' all wanted to go to see. I usually do the people's donkey on Friday, but we were off all last week. A lot has happened, so we need to catch up. I lost track of all the people y' all wanted me to give donkey to Last week. So I'm giving you all the opportunity to call in and get us up to speed. So. Good morning, Shaq. Who you want to get a biggest he hard to Shaq Charlemagne. Yes, sir.
Charlamagne Tha God
He want give it to you.
DJ Envy
Oh, you want to give it to me? Okay, go ahead.
Caller
Yeah, yeah. Charlamagne. I was watching a podcast and I want to know why your mouth move like that when you say yo, yo,
DJ Envy
yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think he flirted.
DJ Envy
That's not gay.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think he flirting.
Donald Trump (Audio Clip)
Why?
DJ Envy
You can't help my mouth move, sir. Hello? Don't try to laugh it off now. You think I'm cute, don't you? Calling up here early in the morning worrying about why another man. How another man mouth move. That's crazy. Anything else?
Caller
No, that's all bad.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's blushing.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Oh, my God, he is blushing.
Charlamagne Tha God
He. He waited the whole week for that one.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yes.
DJ Envy
Now listen, don't. Don't start this because we've been gone all week and as I just said, a lot happened. So I want to keep catch up. Good morning. Who's this?
Olivia (Caller)
Shamika.
DJ Envy
Shamika who? You want to get the biggest he haw to? Shamika.
Olivia (Caller)
I want to give the biggest he ha to NBA young boys affiliates and J. Prince Jr. They. I'm calling from Detroit, by the way. They had an altercation over the weekend with the local Detroit rapper in Houston, and they tried to rob him. It was like eight people jumping him and they tried to rob him of his chain and that he got a hold of one the of their guns and he was able to get them off of him. And now one of them end up ended up in the hospital.
DJ Envy
Now who are you now? Who? Who. First of all, I don't want to. Who are you accusing of this now?
Olivia (Caller)
No, it's a video.
DJ Envy
Oh, it's a video. I don't know. I've seen the headlines, but I really don't know what you're talking about, so I don't. You know, I don't want you calling up here putting accusations on people if. Okay, allegedly.
Olivia (Caller)
I'll put allegedly.
DJ Envy
Oh, okay. Okay. Well, thank you for calling.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
All right.
Olivia (Caller)
You're welcome.
DJ Envy
Good morning. Who's this?
Caller
Yo, D from Brooklyn.
DJ Envy
What's up, D from Brooklyn? Who you want to get a biggest he hard too?
Caller
No, I'm gonna give it to Pooh Shag.
DJ Envy
Oh, okay. Now that's a good one. Tell me why. I mean, I know why, but I wanna. I want you to tell. I know why, but you go Ahead, talk.
Caller
All right, because listen, we as fathers, because I'm a father myself, we as fathers over to our children to guide them in the right direction, no matter how they are. This man just came out of prison and the first thing you say to your son is, hey, let's do this to an exec. You even said to yourself, you wouldn't do it to a white exec.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Caller
And all of a sudden you're gonna do this to this man. And that just. That makes no sense whatsoever. And it's just like you said, that Edward logic. But even you as a father should like, you know, cut through that n word logic and be able to guide him in the right direction.
DJ Envy
I agree with you. 100.
Caller
Makes no sense.
DJ Envy
It don't make any sense. It's the blind leading the blind. And we wonder why we can' generational curses. Because if you, if you love your son and you see the opportunity that's presented to your son, and you see how your son has the opportunity to change everything about your bloodline, you just going to bring him back to what got him. What just got him out of prison. He would. He just went to prison for that. And you gonna take him right back to that. Now he back in there and you with him. That's crazy to me.
Caller
Yeah, man.
DJ Envy
Thank you for calling.
Caller
Blessings to y, sir. Take care.
DJ Envy
Allegedly. But. But that's all. I just wanted to catch us up to speed on. On last week's donkeys, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, now, when we come back, Crystal Renee Haylet will be joining us. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lauren Rose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building.
DJ Envy
Who we got? Who we got?
Charlamagne Tha God
Crystal Renee Haisley. Welcome.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Good morning, Crystal.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Good morning, everybody. How y' all feeling?
DJ Envy
Good blessings, Black and holly face.
Crystal Renee Haslet
And listen, Amen to that Charlamagne.
DJ Envy
You always hustling. You got a new haircare line, Unapologetic.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yes, yes. Unapologetic is a launch that I'm doing with ors. I'm just excited, man. This has been a year long journey getting it right. And we're here finally.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Why the name Unapologetic?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Honestly, it was so long that it took me to actually embrace my hair and really understand what worked for it, you know? And I talk about this story one day. I face. I FaceTime my dad, like every day. And any girl who has natural hair knows by day five is Like, a big fro looks a little crazy. But most times, people, like, when you think it's crazy, it's time to wash. Like, oh, my God, I love your hair. My dad answers the phone. He goes, what is wrong with your hair? And I said, oh, my gosh. I was like, dad. I was like, do you know how long it's taken black women to actually embrace their hair? And I was like, and how many women would literally cut off their left foot to have this much hair on their head? Head? And I was like, this is why women go to resort to the perms or resort to other hairstyles. And he was like, I never thought about that. And in that moment, it allowed me to become more unapologetic and just really own it. Yeah. And that's why we did Unapologetic.
Lauren LaRosa
I love me a black female chemist.
Crystal Renee Haslet
I did.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Crystal Renee Haslet
That was important. Listen, she's so good. That was important because understanding our hair textures, you know, and we got in there, and I was trying the different products, making sure they mix together. I've been doing my hair myself since the third grade, and then I went natural in 2010. So I used to be in the kitchen doing YouTube videos, making some avocado masks for my hair, trying to really take care of it. So when I went in there, I already knew, like, okay, I can't mix this together because it's gonna leave flakes on my hair the next day. I wanted to make sure that it was right for all haircut all hair types. Because you go to these, you go to the shelves, and it says all haircut types, and it ain't for all types. That's why I got on a hat today. Still trying to find so unapologetic women. I brought you.
Olivia (Caller)
Thank you.
Crystal Renee Haslet
I got you.
DJ Envy
Thank you.
Crystal Renee Haslet
I got you.
DJ Envy
Do you feel like you're having to prove yourself a third time because you had to prove yourself as a stylist, you had to prove yourself as an actress. Now you got to prove yourself as a hair care professional. You feel like you're having to prove yourself a third time.
Crystal Renee Haslet
It's not proving charlamagne. It's more so just stepping into spaces I'm passionate about and making sure that I have the science to back it up so that when we do put it on the shelves, there's nothing to prove. The science speaks for itself. Yeah. Sounds like I'm proven, but we definitely gonna show up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think a lot of time, I don't think men respect it like your father didn't.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Until they got to deal with it. Right. When I had to take my daughters to dance, and I ain't know what the hell I was doing. And I was trying to comb, and it was going left, and I was trying to make it go right.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you know, a dance, you gotta have a slick back, and that's. And my daughter's hairs are curly, and my wife's trying to tell me what to do.
DJ Envy
And you don't want to hurt them when you're combing their hair. Oh, my God.
Charlamagne Tha God
I. I don't think you understand until you gotta do that. Cause I didn't know what it was. And my wife telling me, go to CVS and get this product. And then there was no products. It was difficult. Yeah, it was difficult.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Cause there was no products for us. Black and brown.
Charlamagne Tha God
Not at all. So it was very, very difficult. So when I was gonna say, so when you got the chemist, how does that work? I've always been pretty curious about that. Like, how do you decide what's gonna work for what type of hair? And do you try it immediately? Because you can try some. That just your hair up immediately.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So what's that process?
Crystal Renee Haslet
That's a great question. Envy. So the lab was actually Chicago Namaste Labs, which is where ors their offices are. So we go to the lab. They had already started working on some products. So I got in. I literally went in there with a doll head, a wig head, and, like, started using the products on it to see how it worked. And I. I'm the type of person. I can feel it until. This doesn't have enough slip on it. This. I need some more water to this. This is too thick. So when I started trying, I was like, all right, we need. This is. It mixes well. But I feel like we need a little more accurate activator with the gel to really make the curls pop. And so we. I went home. I was so excited, y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Crystal Renee Haslet
I was like, all right, I'm do a YouTube video just showing the people the process. Listen, y' all put that stuff on my hair. It didn't do what this is doing. I was like, yeah, this ain't it. So we literally had to go back to the drawing board saying, hey, we need to add more water. We need more nutrients, some oil. I need the shine. I need some more thickness to this. I was like, I'm not a moose, girl. Girl, you know, big fella, Big west back here, he just add water. He can throw some water on it and some mousse and be Fine. I need the gel and the mousse and the leave in. Yeah. And so figuring out all the products that you can work together, but it did not work that first time, and we had to go back to it and get it right.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I love that you're so hands on.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah, Jess, I'm so big on making sure that whatever I put my name and my face on, a lot of people just like, oh, yeah, figure it out and I'll just throw my face on it. No, like, whatever I put, I need to believe in it. It doesn't matter. Even if he called me for a brand partnership, if I don't eat it, if I don't use it, if it's not something that fits into my everyday life that I can really get into, I can't put my name behind it. So this is something serious, because what you're putting on your head is seeping into your body. I had to make sure that it was clean. I had to make sure that it worked.
DJ Envy
You know what's interesting, though? I say that to my daughters all the time. I always say, always. I don't know why, but always something that they got beautiful skin and beautiful hair.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yes. That's important. That's good. I'm glad. Glad you do that, because they go out into the world and they don't always feel beautiful or seen. So the fact that you're instilling that at home is very, very important. Kudos to you for that.
DJ Envy
And why'd you partner with ors?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Wow. So this actually started off as a brand partnership. A lot of us are influencers and people call us to get behind their products. They had called us to do a real. Just a Instagram reel because they saw me doing my hair. They're like, oh, she'd be great for this product. And Ashana Ayers, being who she is, she was like, yeah, we're not interested in selling squares on Instagram. Let's build a line. And they were like, actually, we do have a new line that. That is in ideation and Crystal actually perfect for it. So it turned from a real on Instagram to building a line, having equity in the company and really building something bigger than what it could have been if we had just been like, oh, yeah, we'll do the Instagram post. So that is why ORs, because they wanted to initially work with me. But if you think about it, I don't know if. Not sure if you guys remember the. They still have it. The green olive oil. Oil back in the day, like this is that company. They're known for perms. They're known for their relaxers, but now they're branching off into the natural hairspace. Yeah. So to be a part of that growth for them is important for me,
Lauren LaRosa
Cardi was just talking about that with her brands and a lot of the brands that she's working with, like, being in a celebrity space, like, trying to build something that she can give to her kids, that builds legacy and her decision to start doing that.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yes. So important. Ownership is everything, and you can't build legacy without ownership, you know, because you can do something, but if it's not yours, there's nothing to pass down. So I think that's very important. I love what Cardi's doing, and a lot of people talk about how saturated this space is, but I feel like it's so much room for everybody, right? Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Especially because not every black girl's hair is the same as the next.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Exactly.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
So I think it should be more.
Crystal Renee Haslet
More, you know, just speaking to that, too, because a lot of the curly girls are biracial. They have, like, a different type of texture than the real Black girl. Yes. So that was important to me, too, to show, like, hey, you may not have that texture, you know, and sometimes it's like, I wish my hair was like that. No, your hair is beautiful. And with the right products, you can have your curls, too. We all have different curls, you know, but to be able to be unapologetic about it and own it was a big part of it. And that's a big part why I wanted to do this, too, because I don't have the biracial hair. I have, like, real. For real.
DJ Envy
What do you mean, real Black girl?
Lauren LaRosa
I said real Black girl.
Crystal Renee Haslet
It's a different Charlemagne.
Lauren LaRosa
It's a much a big difference.
Crystal Renee Haslet
We have something for them, too. Like, they can use the mousse, you know, Like, I. It's for everybody, but also for the girls who don't feel seen in that space where they put stuff in their hair, like it ain't doing what it needed. Yeah, yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Texture conversation.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
A lot of us be scared to have it. Yeah. And I don't know why. Because the textures are different.
Crystal Renee Haslet
They are.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Crystal Renee Haslet
It's like an elephant in the room.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
But why, though? Like, it's very obvious when your texture is different than the other. And we went through that whole era of good hair, bad hair. Remember when Chris Rock did the whole thing? And people were trying to have the conversation then, but now I just feel like, especially with beauty brand owners, they never actually get into textures and the difference between. Between them and why there's like stigmas and like the. Almost like the battle in between the ducks.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yes. Yeah. I think probably because, you know, people, you won't offend anybody, you know, but it is like, it's the reality of it, you know. And I think as a hair care owner is just making sure that we have something for everybody. Yeah, yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is it true if you lose your curls? They don't. It's hard to get them back.
Crystal Renee Haslet
You got to cut it off. It's so hard, especially for heat. I've done the big chop like three times.
Charlamagne Tha God
Really?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Heat damage. Cuz I go through these phases where I want my hair straight, you know, but I don't want to put a perm in it. So I'm constantly putting heat on it. My hair. By the time like day three of just putting heat on it, I can already see the curl pattern loosening up. So I've had to do the big chop because it'll grow back, but it's coming from the root. So you got to get all the damaged hair off so it can really flourish and make a conscious decision. I'm not going to put heat on it.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Gotcha.
Charlamagne Tha God
And how often do you have to, I guess, maintain your hair to make sure those curls stay?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah, honestly, I do like weekly deep conditions. And that's another thing with natural girls. Like especially my type of hair. I have to condition my hair because it gets dry fast. I have to use a lot of oils to keep it shiny because you know, your daughter, her hair is naturally shiny. It's got that luster. Ours, we got to add something to it. So for me, at least once a week, I'm deep conditioning, making sure I'm giving it that extra care that it needs.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah. How long does. Because people doing this understand the natural hair journey, like styling it, whatever that stuff takes hours. And your hair is long and thick. And it's thick. Yeah. How long does it take for you?
Crystal Renee Haslet
I've gotten it down now, girl. I can wash and have it like washed and styled because I shingle my hair, I section off and like literally have to pull it with the gel together to make the curls pop. And that takes about an hour and a half. I sit on the dry and kind of let it set because it takes forever for my hair to dry too. Yeah. Like if I don't let it, if I let it air dry, it'll take two days for my hair to dry
Jessica (Jessalarius)
because it's so thick.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah. Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
But you got it down to 90 minutes?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah, I began. Wow.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That's how long it take me with this little bit of girl.
Lauren LaRosa
You're new in your journey though.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I am.
Crystal Renee Haslet
You know, years of me, like figuring this out.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
16 years.
State Farm Agent (Ad Voice)
Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
So that's how you got it down.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah. So I've been doing this for a long time.
DJ Envy
Like, how do you think you've been able to establish the connection with the audience that you have, Crystal? Because like your pop, your podcast. Keep it positive, sweetie. Everybody loves your podcast past. Like, how do you think you've been able to establish that type of real connection with.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah, I think just putting it all out there. Charlemagne being who I am, I think for so long and for a lot of us, we live so much of our life in the light. We want to keep certain things to ourself. We don't want to share the. The hidden areas, the dark areas, the. The pits and the. You know what I'm saying? Not the heaviness of it all, but when you share it and let people know, hey, I'm just like you, you know, we all going through our thing. We fighting our own demons. And when you put it out there for me, me, that was the moment I realized there's nothing to be ashamed of. Let them know. Share those stories. And that is how we build this community. Just through being authentic and being intentional about storytelling and sharing my truth. Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
To keep it positive, Sweetie. Girl's gonna eat this up.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Listen, they already. Girl, they was out last night. They. They done found the. Because we were doing like testing on the site. They already went through the site, figured out where it was and like it's saying sold out.
Lauren LaRosa
We like. Cuz it's not up yet.
Crystal Renee Haslet
They were already trying to figure it out, but yeah, they are. They were up this morning waiting for 9am to hit.
Lauren LaRosa
That's such a blessing.
DJ Envy
Are you going to have a booth at the Black Effect Podcast Festival selling unapologetic hair?
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Crystal Renee Haslet
I cannot wait for that. Thank you so much. Excited even to be a part of the family, but really excited to bring Cuba. Positive, Sweetie. To the festival.
DJ Envy
So, yeah, Crystal will be doing her podcast, Keep it Positive Sweetie at the Black Effect Podcast Festival in Atlanta on April 25th. And now you heard she'll have the unapologetic hair booth out there selling product too.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
You filming for season five of the team and that's. That was. Rumors is coming up.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Rumor has it. I don't know if I can tell you that. Yeah.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Oh my gosh.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Rumor has it all Right.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
She ain't gonna think.
Crystal Renee Haslet
But I'm working. I'm. I'm working always. I got a lot of stuff coming. I did a movie with Courtney Glade last summer. Just found out that it's going to theaters. Amc.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Congratulations.
Crystal Renee Haslet
We'll definitely be back to talk about that. Something completely different than what you've seen with Fatima. Yeah, I got stretched in this one, so I'm super excited about that. Yeah, I got some short films. We're actually going to be showing that in Martha's Vineyard, so we doing a screening for it just so people can come see it. So if you all in town, please pull up. Yeah, we doing. We doing all the things. What else we got going on? Music. Oh, yeah. When you talked about regular labels, I have music coming out, too. I was trying to really make me do everything.
DJ Envy
That's good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wink if you need help getting out. Just too much pressure on you. We need help getting out.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Superstar.
Charlamagne Tha God
She good.
Crystal Renee Haslet
We do it. Everything. I feel like it's time, though. You know, we're in C10 seasons of Sisters, and I feel like that maybe, hopefully it continues to go, but I feel like now is the time to go ahead and start, like, venturing off into other spaces. So I was like. I did call it one day. I was like, I'm ready to do. I think we were in DC doing a live show in November, and I was singing other people's songs, and I was like, it's time for some original music. So, yeah, we've been working on music for, like, a year now. And, yeah, we work talking with some labels, trying to figure the distribution out, but they working. Yeah, no days off. Literally.
Lauren LaRosa
For a lot of people who would have all that going on, it was. It would feel so disjointed and all over the place. But, like, you. Yours, like, flows. Because that. He mentioned your audience, your community is, like, dialed into so many parts of your life. Like when we did the live conversation on yes, there were. Girl, let me tell y', all, first of all, they were having panels all throughout the weekend. Her panel sold it out. I mean, people were on floor. They were waiting for, like, almost an hour plus to get into the panel that she did. They came with their own merch. Her face. And I mean, her as crystal, her. The Tina stuff. Like, all different phases of her life on their shirts. Generations. It was moms, daughters, grandmothers. Like, I've never in the podcast world, I'm, you know, new. I've never seen anything like that. And I told you then, like, yo, this is crazy. Like, the way. Way that they are about you. So you have that community where you can kind of throw all this stuff out there and it'll make sense.
Crystal Renee Haslet
Yeah. And it's crazy because, like, I had sent a song that I did with to Tyler and he was like, we got to put this on Zatima. So, like, everything kind of like flows into every avenue that I'm doing. I'm like, yeah, that makes sense. But, yeah, you're right. It just. They pick up on everything. And it's so many generations. It's a blessing for real, because you just never know. Know, like, who your story is going
DJ Envy

So Coachella weekend one is going down in Coachella over in California and everybody's over there. I mean you got Tiana Taylor walking around like looking like a gift from God. She looks so good. I saw Lizzo got flew out to Coachella by Paris Hilton. And Winnie Harlow was on that plane as well, too. Northwest Kim Kardashian and Louie Hamilton walking around. But Offset also was there following the shooting that happened while we were out on break. And this is his first performance. He literally pulls up on the Coachella stage in a wheelchair and he performs, and the crowd goes crazy. He has a mask on, but following his performance, his mom posted a video just talking about how much of a miracle it was even to see him perform. Let's take a listen.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Six days ago, my son was shot. Four days later, he was released from the hospital. Last night, he was on a stage
Lauren LaRosa
doing what he loves to do.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
He is a miracle walking. That is God's grace. That is God's mercy. He loves us all, and he loves us best. To every person who reached out, prayed, called, text, or sent a message, thank you. In the middle of everything, I left my personal phone at home.
Caller
Home.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
If I haven't responded to you directly, please know it was not intentional. Your kindness meant everything to me. We love Kiari. We love all of you.
Lauren LaRosa
May God continue to keep us all.
DJ Envy
Yeah, I feel the same way. God bless Offset, man. You know, because we hear every day, we hear about somebody getting shot, getting killed. For him to just have a wound or what was in his leg or something like that.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't even think we know, right?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, we don't know. There were. There were reports circulating that it was in the butt, but Offset cleared that up and said it. It wasn't there.
DJ Envy
But, no, nobody want to take nothing in the butt.
Charlamagne Tha God
You get out your hospital bed, you in a cold.
DJ Envy
Now wake up, tell them I ain't get shot in the butt. Now. I got shot, but, hey, I ain't take nothing in the butt.
Lauren LaRosa
Lord have mercy.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
And it's how Lawrence said it, too. They said it was in the butt. Like, just say it was an analogy shooting.
Lauren LaRosa
That's worse.
DJ Envy
Yeah. Definitely send the healing energy to Offset, though, man. Salute to Offset. I'm glad you. I'm glad you well, my brother.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Mimi Brown
Yep.
Lauren LaRosa
And then also two, performing Sway Lee performed. I know he was just here. And they cut his set before he could do Black Beatles. And he was trying to get to it, but the time. And they cut his set. So he says that he promises it'll happen. His second week of performing at Coachella, and Justin Bieber had a performance that a lot of people are talking about.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yes.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. So during Justin Bieber's performance, he has, like, a screen behind him, and he's literally on YouTube YouTube bringing up old videos of his, like, old performances, and it's like he's kind of like singing and talking to his younger self. Let's take a listen to Justin Bieber performing with you.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
World tonight.
Charlamagne Tha God
With the love of.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. So a lot of his, like, longtime fans were posting. I saw Lizzo post too, just about how nostalgic it was and how good it felt.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Cuz.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, it takes you back to your childhood and, you know, just watching him sing to himself before. Before he was like super big and discovered after everything that he's gone through publicly, which is a good feeling.
Charlamagne Tha God
I heard Katy Perry say this and I thought it the same way. If I would have did that, it would have been mad commercials in my YouTube because I. I'm too cheap to pay the version for premium version. So he was able to go to his YouTube and get it because it would have been commercial.
DJ Envy
Doing it off YouTube.
Donald Trump (Audio Clip)
Yeah, he was doing it.
Lauren LaRosa
He was pulling it up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, yeah, he was pulling it off on YouTube. It was just him and his laptop there. So he would, you know, find his video, play the video, and then he performed with it and then go to the next one. It was pretty dope.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That was, though. Bieber was a whole era. Okay. Like, I was a teenager loving him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But, you know, his earlier hits and everything. I just loved his whole little slideshow that he had. I mean, his videos, his presentation.
DJ Envy
Because that's the one thing people can never say about Justin Bieber. Right. Like, you know, we've seen ups and downs in his personal life, but professionally, Bieber has always come through with good music. Even when he got older, he always came through a good.
Lauren LaRosa
He brought Tim's and Whiz Kid too on the stage to do one. Yeah, we have some audio from that.
DJ Envy
I think we got Whiz Kid in the house.
Charlamagne Tha God
Where's he at? Where's my broski?
Crystal Renee Haslet
Let's run it.
DJ Envy
Yeah, man, that was dope. Hey, listen, man, Justin Bieber's a good human. You know what I'm saying? Salute to that, young man. Proud of everything that he's.
Charlamagne Tha God
He's.
DJ Envy
He's. He's overcome and been able to sustain for so long. Absolutely.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I think people forget that. That was a good reminder. Young Thug was there too. He called out Tiana Taylor. He says he want her to see Styler, but she's been style him, but she's been busy. Yeah. So so far we is. It's kicked off pretty well. Coachella. But shifting gears a bit, I released an Interview on the Latest with Lauren LaRosa, the podcast over the break that I feel like still needs some more attention. So there has been a series of young women that have been going missing in Wilmington, Delaware. And y' all know I talk a lot about Delaware, and it's heartbreaking because a lot of the media coverage there is just not there. Like, I'm, I've been trying to keep up with the girls. One of them was missing literally like a few blocks away from where my niece lives, right. She's 19 old. Her name is Aisha Bent Hifa. I I did an in depth interview with her mother, just talking about what the police have not done and just some of the issues she's been having. She's out here every day. I call and talk to her. She's literally breaking indoors herself whenever she gets tips because she's not in the best communication with the police department. I reached out to the police department there who really couldn't tell me much. But the interview is live on the Breakfast Club's YouTube channel and on my YouTube channel as well, too. Lauren LaRosa TV and on the podcast. But I really want you to guys to go listen to it because she's not just talking about her baby, which is so selfless in this moment. She's talking about the other young girls now that she's found out. There's like a group of moms now who are trying to bring their babies home. And she's been missing for almost two months now.
DJ Envy
I'm glad you did that because, you know, black women and girls are disproportionately affected by disappearances. They make up 35% of missing person cases, but they only compromise 14% of the female population. And they get significantly less media attention and resources when it comes to investigations. And because, you know, we did, I did a project, you know, a few years ago called Finding Tamika with Erica Alexander, and she was talking about Tamika Houston, who went missing in South Carolina in the early 2000s. And that's when I learned so much about the plight of missing black women and girls in this country. It's really an epidemic.
Lauren LaRosa
You know what's crazy? When I was reaching out to try and get information from the Wilmington Police Department, I couldn't get in contact with anybody for a couple weeks. That's what held up me releasing the interview. And then when I finally got in contact with someone, because I called the mayor's office, they were like, oh, you were just being given the wrong person to contact. And I'm like, for two weeks, though. So imagine what. And I only called the mayor's office upset. Like, I'm about to put this on record, and you guys won't even say anything to me. So imagine what a mom is going through. And the police department apologized to me. But, like, you know, these girls are still missing. So I want.
DJ Envy
I want to salute to the Black and Missing foundation, man. They do fantastic work. You can go to blackandmissinginc.com they actually are foundation that was kind of established because of what happened with Tamika Houston in the early 2000s, but literally, this is the work that they do. You should have got in contact with them.
Lauren LaRosa
I was trying to. I text you. You didn't respond. But I did use some of their information to provide the basis for our interview. And I told her about the organization. She would love to get in contact with them. She just needs more hands on the ground because she's doing this all by herself.
DJ Envy
You said I didn't respond.
Lauren LaRosa
I text you.
DJ Envy
I did respond. I told you that you should reach out to the Black and mystified.
Lauren LaRosa
I asked you to. We not gonna do this on. You told me that you had a person I should talk to. Okay.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Hey, yo, sh.
DJ Envy
Yo, when somebody gets shot, she can reach out to who had the gun, but she can't reach out to the Black and Mythic Foundation. Now it's my fault now.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, we're going to keep it positive. And Ms. Lovey, Ms. Lovette, who is the mother of Aisha, I told her that I would be connecting her with anyone when I could. So we will be doing that. And the interview is live and as we wrap, I know Envy, you have something amazing that you're doing for TSA agents at the American Dream Mall.
Charlamagne Tha God
Coming up, salute to all the TSA agents. We teamed up with American Dream, the Water park, and the Nickelodeon park. I know the last two weeks has been spring break, and I know TSA agents haven't been paid, so we've been trying to figure out a way that we can give back legally where they don't get in trouble. And I spoke to Stacey Wade, which is the union rep, and the vice president, Kyle Pierce Pagot. And we spoke about doing something special at the mall, which we will. So April 20th through the 24th, at the water park and Nickelodeon park, all the TSA agents that work in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Philly will be able to bring their family to those parks for absolutely, positively free. It's a four pack of tickets. So once again, April 20th, the 20th to the 24th, we are giving back to the TSA agents. It's only right. They do so much to keep us safe, to make sure those. Those lines. Lines are running fast and to make sure that there are no problems in those airports. So we just want to say thank you. You guys are being treated dirty and horribly, and we just want to give you hopefully a little bit of a stress reliever. So salute to American Dream. Don, Ellie, Keisha, Adam, thank you for doing this with us. And yeah, American dream is riding for the TSA agents. So all TSA agents, talk to your union leaders. We spoke to them yesterday, and they will give you what you need to get. And I just want to say thank you. So salute to all the TSA agents out there.
Lauren LaRosa
That's so fire, Emmy.
DJ Envy
That's dope.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yep. But now let's get to the mix. That's the latest with Lauren, brought to
Lauren LaRosa
you by who Top Dog Law. Any accident, big or small, call Top Dog Law.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's get to the mix. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Again, I want to salute to all the TSA agents. All week long, we were trying to figure out what we can do to try to help the TSA agents any which way. So salute to Stacy Wade. She's a union rep for the TSA agents. And salute to the vice president of the union, Kyle Pagat. I got on the phone with them and we came up with this plan where of course, the TSA agents had to work. They didn't have a spring break, they didn't get a chance to take their kids. So we partnered up with American Dream Mall and all the TSA agents that work in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Philly from April 20th to the 24th, they are allowed to bring family members, a four packer family, to the mall for absolutely possible, positively, free. I know that they couldn't go anywhere for spring break. I know they were having money problems. But for that week, April 20th to the 24th, they could bring their kids, they could bring their spouses, they could bring their family to the American dream more, whether it's the water park or nickelodeon. For absolutely, positively.
DJ Envy
I thought the mall was free already. What you mean the amenities to get. You mean like the amusement park?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, for the water park and nickelodeon park. So that way they can. They don't have to spend that money. So the money that you know, when they finally do get paid, that's one thing that they don't have to worry about. So if they got kids or family, they want to take it to the water park or Nickelodeon Park. April 20th through the 24th. So salute to Don Ellie, Keisha, and Adam. So all the TSA agents, if you are listening, your union reps have everything that you need. We spoke to all the union reps because I wanted to make sure we did it right without getting in trouble, because you hear everybody getting in trouble by trying to get give back. So I actually have to speak to the union reps to make sure that they were good to do this.
DJ Envy
So how do you prove you're a TSA rep? You got to show your badge or something?
Charlamagne Tha God
No. So the union members. So each airport has their own union member. So we gave them the actual car. So the union member will give them cars so they can actually go. So we had to get that down. So salute to American Dream, Don Ellie, Keisha, Adam, for. For riding out with us. And salute to all the TSA agents. We appreciate you guys so much, and y' all getting the. The bad end of the stick when it comes to things. So just want to say salute to you guys.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
That's up. You've been trying to do something for the TSA agents for, like, the last few months, so that's really good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, we met on the phone, but I didn't want to do nothing where it was like Tyler Perry where they. They can't take it or they get in trouble or something like that happened. So we had to go through the proper procedures to make sure it was right. So again, salute to all the TSA agents and thank you, American Dream. Now Jess doesn't want to come back to work.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yo, stop putting that narrative out there. Yo, we just hit number one. Podcast, Netflix show. Don't even put that out there. Listen.
DJ Envy
No, you need to put that out there. You don't want to create the narrative to begin with, so you need. You. You. You need to put that out there.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
Yo, I. That's.
Olivia (Caller)
I'm.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I'm putting it out there. This is because of us.
DJ Envy
Go live from a diner or something and. And say that from a. Where a diner? Wherever you was at when you did that. Shut up.
Jessica (Jessalarius)
I was in the airport, goofy ass.
DJ Envy
Oh.
