Wake that ass up.
DJ Envy
Charlamagne's running a little late.
Charlamagne Tha God
And it's Monday.
DJ Envy
Yes, it's Monday. Back to the work week. How you feeling, Jess?
Lauren LaRosa
I feel good. I ain't gonna hold you. I'm tired, yo.
DJ Envy
You was very, very tired. You was in the Carolinas this weekend, right?
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely.
Lauren LaRosa
But shout out to the city of Greensboro, North Carolina. It was dope. I made some pretty great connections. Shout out to Chef Dave Black. Chef yo came and shook the kitchen up. Love it. And you know, I've been changing my diet, so he stuck to that. He used to like making, you know, turkey wings, chicken wings, you know what I'm saying? All the soul food. But I switched up my stuff. I'm a fl. Flexitarian now.
DJ Envy
A flexitarian. Okay.
Lauren LaRosa
Fish, no dairy, things like that. So he stuck to the program. It was really dope. And then shout out to my God. What was his name? Tyler. Tyler Young. Foot. Young videographer.
DJ Envy
Yo.
Lauren LaRosa
He came and captured my shows for two days. Dope, 21 year old. But he got like this vision. He got the eye of like, a director. He captured some really good content. Ty filmed it is his. His tag or whatever, but really, really dope. And shout out to the Comedy Zone. And the manager there, Paul, yo, he was under and he, you know, you know, some managers you don't even really get to meet, man. He was in the kitchen, he was serving. At one point, he was a dj. Like, shout out to Paul and the staff at the Comedy Zone, man. But Greensboro was lit. My meet and greets were lit as well.
DJ Envy
That's dope.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
DJ Envy
And salute to. I was out in Raleigh over the weekend. Drop a bomb for all the akas out there.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, dope.
DJ Envy
Jesus. Belizes. So we were in raleigh. And I've DJ'd arenas, I've DJed stadiums, I've DJ festivals, I've DJ'd anything like that. But yester this weekend was the first time I ever had to DJ a function with that many people. It was 10,000 people. 9,900 and 9,900 women. It was probably about 50 to 100 men, 9,000. So when I said they came out and the ages ranged from 25 to 75. And when I say they were rocking, that's what's up. Those women were rocking.
Lauren LaRosa
And the range of music was also.
DJ Envy
Exactly. And I've never been put in a situation like that where I had to play from Celebration to set it off to, you name it, to different eras.
Charlamagne Tha God
Was it the Million Woman March? Why was it not?
DJ Envy
It was an AKA convention in Raleigh, North Carolina. Oh, man, when I say I had so much fun, there was like. I swear it was 9, 900 women, probably about a hundred men that were just there working with their wives. But when I say they turned up, you name it, they turned up. It was so crazy. I had such a. An amazing time.
Charlamagne Tha God
None of them women bring their husbands. The dates are significant.
DJ Envy
No, it was just the AKA convention. It was the. The Raleigh chapter and. Oh, man, they shut the rally convention. It was so amazing. And also, salute to Boris, who owns the. The Vault as a dispensary. They opened up over this weekend. And I got your bag, so, yo, here's one for you. I got one for Lauren. Lauren wanted a bag of sativa for her mom, so I got y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
DJ Envy
Yeah, your own fire. Yes. You was in the Carolinas this weekend too, right?
Charlamagne Tha God
I was, but we'll get to that later. I. I was. I. I got into the. I rushed in here because I was running late because I was listening to Sarah Jake Roberts. Boy. Oh, my God. Boy, she had a sermon, man. Not caring about y'.
Angela Yee
All.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's all she just told me. That's it. Compassion without caring. Oh, my God. That is a message that people need to hear. Because if you care about everything, you will care about nothing.
DJ Envy
There you go.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you care about everything, you will care about nothing. She was talking about compassion fatigue.
Dr. Umar
Okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, my God. Y' all should go listen to that. It came out seven days ago, but I just caught up on it.
DJ Envy
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes. That's why I was running in late. I was sitting in the car like, damn, I gotta get out to go to work. Yes, you do.
DJ Envy
Well, Dr. Umar will be joining us. Yes, Dr. Umar will be joining us this morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, indeed.
DJ Envy
We ain't got to tell you much about Dr. Umar. He'll be in the building.
Charlamagne Tha God
But I mean, for those who don't know, he's a, you know, motivational speaker, he's an author, he's a certified school psychologist. He's a prince of Pan Africanism.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
And Dr. Uma, he definitely don't care what y' all think. Cause he got his school, okay? He got his school together. It's gonna get open, okay? You hear me?
DJ Envy
We gonna, we gonna talk to him in a little bit. I wanted to start the show off with this because this record right here. Besides, before I let go, 75 year old women, 25 year old women put their arms around each other and started swag surfing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sometimes I wonder if him be black for real. I mean, I just don't even like he's shocked at a bunch of black people of any gender.
DJ Envy
75, 75 years old women with swag surfing.
Dr. Umar
Where have you been?
Charlamagne Tha God
Dominican.
DJ Envy
I don't usually DJ with 75 year old man. That's not my boy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Dominican man right here. No, nothing about black.
DJ Envy
Salute to the akas. Had such an amazing time. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
People realize that black people like swag surf of all ages.
DJ Envy
No, that's not what I said. But salute to the akas again. That, that convention was amazing. To all those wonderful women.
Lauren LaRosa
Really dope.
Charlamagne Tha God
They played swag surf at NASCAR this weekend.
Lauren LaRosa
But it wasn't 75, 80 year old women dancing.
Charlamagne Tha God
No 70 year old white women. You know, they serve you a little off, but.
DJ Envy
All right, well, let's get some front page news first. Let's start off with quick sports. We got to congratulate Kevin Durant. He passes Michael Jordan for the fifth on the scoring list. He scored 27 points in the Houston Rockets win and he gave him 32,294 points.
Charlamagne Tha God
So, Tim, Florida.
DJ Envy
Jordan. Congratulations.
Charlamagne Tha God
Stuff like that lets you know numbers lie, right? What you mean Kevin Durant is nowhere near as good as Michael Jordan? No, no, not at all. This is, you know, because you'll see that in the future. People will see that and think, yeah. Yes. Yes.
DJ Envy
All right. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning, Envy. Josh, Charlemagne. How y' all doing this morning?
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning, girl.
Mimi Brown
Good morning. So we start this morning with a government shutdown and a political standoff that is now spreading far beyond Washington. So President Trump says he is sending ice agents to airports. And starting today, the Trump administration says the idea is to help TSA with those long security lines caused by the shutdown, since many TSA agents have been working without pay and calling out sick. So Saturday was the worst day so far. More than 3,200 TSA employees called out nationwide and more than 400 agents have now quit. Officials say ICE agents will not be running X ray machines on the or on the screening bag. But they will because they're not trained for that. But they could help with crowd control, checking IDs, managing lines, so TSA agents could focus on screening. Border czar Tom Holman says the plan is already in motion and he's warning the public to be prepared to see ICE agents starting today. Let's listen.
Dr. Umar
The ICE agents are signed at many airports across the country already. They do a lot of investigation, criminal investigation on small grade airports. But, you know, certainly a highly trained ICE law enforcement officer can cover an exit. Makes people, people don't go through those exits. Entering the airport through the exits and stuff like that relieves that TSA officer to go to screening and to reduce those lines. So wherever we can provide extra security, I don't see an ICE agent looking at an X ray machine because they're
Charlamagne Tha God
not trained in that.
Dr. Umar
There are certain parts of security that TSA is doing that we can move them off those jobs and put them in the specialized jobs, help move those lines.
Lauren LaRosa
Imagine the people I'm not getting paid for coming to help me at work. Like, because, you know, that's what this ultimately is about, right? They're not getting paid because.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, how about take some of that money that you using for ICE agencies.
Lauren LaRosa
Just, yeah, just, just give me my money, just pay me and we'll come to work.
DJ Envy
But what job, but what job will they know how to do? Like, because they can't read the X
Lauren LaRosa
ray machine, they're gonna check IDs, basically trying to deport more people, trying to profile people. And it's already lines like, yo, the airport was crazy, even on Friday. Like, it's wild. Did y' all see Atlanta? Did y' all see New York? All these places. It's, it's a line to get to another line to get to another line. And you about to bring ICE agents in to just help check IDs.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah. I don't understand how this is going to benefit airports or how this is going to help TSA in any way, shape or form at all.
Mimi Brown
And the President is now saying that there will be no deal to end this shutdown unless Democrats agree to pass the Save America Act. Now, that's the bill that would require people to show proof of citizenship like a passport or birth certificate in order to register to vote. And experts, of course, are calling that the worst voter suppression bill ever seriously considered by Congress, warning it would disenfranchise millions of Americans. So the President making that announcement yesterday,
DJ Envy
now what they shut down is that, does that affect air traffic controller, too?
Mimi Brown
It does not affect air traffic controllers, just the TSA agents, coast guards. And there's one more agency that I'm forgetting.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Mimi Brown
Right now I saw that thing you
Charlamagne Tha God
posted yesterday to me that I looked up about how all of this was in Project 2025 on page 159. Yeah. They told us exactly what was going to happen, how they was going to come for TSA to unionize it, defund it and replace it with a form of ice.
Mimi Brown
Yes, absolutely. It was all written in the playbook, you know, right before our very eyes. And now to a major development in the war with Iran and a deadline that could determine what happens next. So over the weekend, Trump gave Iran a 48 hour ultimatum. Reopen the Strait of Hormuz or the United States will begin attacking Iran's power plants. And that deadline is expected to expire tonight. The Strait of Hormuz is that one, one of the most important oil routes in the world. About one of every five barrels of oil passes through that narrow stretch of water. So right now that route is essentially shut down because of the war. And that's the big reason why we're seeing those high gas prices and while the global economy is starting to feel the pressure. Well, the President says if is says if Iran does not reopen that route, that the US Will target its power plants, which would cause widespread blackouts across Iran, affecting hospitals, water systems, food supplies and everyday life. But Iran, they are also responding with a warning of their own. They say that if their power plants are attacked, they will retaliate by attacking oil and energy facilities across the region, which would send and oil prices even higher and disrupt energy supplies around the world. Now, Iran's military is also vowing to close the Strait of Hormuz indefinitely if the US Follows through on the President's threat to bomb power plants. And yesterday on Meet the Press, Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, he weighed in on this growing escalation. Let's listen really quickly.
Charlamagne Tha God
What we know is that the minute we stop bombing, this new regime is going to start rebuilding their missile capacity and their drone capacity. The estimates are that it'll only take them a handful of months to, to reconstitute that threat. So what did we get at the end of this war? We're going to waste billions of dollars. We're going to get dozens, if not hundreds of Americans killed. We're going to start new conflicts in the region. And when it's all said and done, a more provocative regime is going to be in charge with the same military capacities. This is nonsensical. This is what happens when you put real estate developers and talk show hosts in charge of American national security.
Mimi Brown
Yeah. And so in this morning, the U.S. state Department is now warning Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution, especially in the Middle east, saying American interests overseas could become targets. And American abroads are being told to follow security alerts from U.S. embassies. And coming up at 7, hundreds of flights are. They've been canceled after a deadly crash at LaGuardia. We're going to talk about that, what we know so far, and how this could impact travel in the air and on the ground this morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what?
DJ Envy
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
This is exactly why I stayed in the car to listen to Sarah Jake Roberts for an extra five minutes, okay? Compassion fatigue. There's so much going on. Way too much going on. I don't have the capacity for all of this, okay? If we care about everything, we will care about nothing. I have to choose what to care about, but I need to care about it all because it all impacts us.
Dr. Umar
Exactly.
Lauren LaRosa
And speaking of Karen, I was flying out of LaGuardia on Friday and the TSA agents did want me to tell her that she thanks the show for bringing awareness to their situation.
DJ Envy
Yeah, Florida, jfk young lady told me
Lauren LaRosa
the same tears in the bathroom. So, yes,
Charlamagne Tha God
thing you can say to TSA workers is thank you.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
They are there working without a paycheck. Like, if you're going through TSA today, just simply say thank you. I know you stressed out because the line long and you trying to get to where you need to be, but simply tell those people thank you.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Lauren LaRosa
They go in the bathroom and they cry. The girl was crying like she can't afford her building stuff, so.
DJ Envy
Well, we'll see you next hour, Mimi. Everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to venture, phone lines are wide open. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo, Charlemagne.
DJ Envy
What up?
Angela Yee
Are we live?
Dr. Umar
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Angela Yee
I got an indoor pool.
Dr. Umar
We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
We can get on the phone right now. He'll tell you what it is.
Dr. Umar
Hello?
DJ Envy
Who's this?
Dr. Umar
Yo, this D from. From Houston, bro.
DJ Envy
D from H Town. What's up?
Charlamagne Tha God
What up, D?
DJ Envy
Get it off your chest, bro. Morning.
Dr. Umar
Hey, good morning. I don't know if Lauren now. Good morning, y'. All.
DJ Envy
What's up, bro?
Dr. Umar
Long time listener, first time caller. I know envy be hanging up on people. So let me go quick. So the Jay Z concert that's coming in July, how y' all see this playing out, bro? Because their presidents were stopped by Nas, right? Then five years later, you're going at no. So are you doing those songs? Do you. How you.
Charlamagne Tha God
You just got out. You just got out, bro. How long you been in prison, bro? Like, how long? How long? Like, you know Jay Z and Nas super cool now, right? I got that part, bro.
Dr. Umar
But again, we talking about. We talking about albums. You celebrating the albums, right?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, but he's bought. Not. He's actually bought Nas out to do the hook on Dead Presidents before.
DJ Envy
Yeah, I ain't know that. I doubt he'll be going at Nas. And if he has to do Takeover, I mean, I don't think he's. The first verse. He'll just do the first verse. What he usually does. He plays the intro of it and then he switches it. But he's not. I doubt he.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't think he should do Prodigy's Passed Away. But you know what's so crazy? It's funny. I was having this conversation yesterday, and somebody was telling me that Ice Cube still does no Vaseline. And I was like, why? Like, why does Ice Cube still perform no Vaseline? People are dead. You know, the beef is. Beef is done. It's just like, why, right?
Lauren LaRosa
Like, why Some fans want to hear that. You got core fans that was, like. Was in their prime when they heard this, you know? And they. They want to hear it. Like, him calling up right now. He want to hear that. What. What was it a Nas dish? You want here?
DJ Envy
He went to take over. He was here. He was wondering if he was going to do Takeover. I doubt he's doing Takeover.
Charlamagne Tha God
I doubt he doing Takeover, too. I don't think he should do girls. Girls, Girls.
DJ Envy
He'll do girls.
Lauren LaRosa
I think that's crazy.
Charlamagne Tha God
If he don't ask his wife for permission, I'm sure he will.
DJ Envy
Well, thank you, brother.
Dr. Umar
So the. The. The. The. The people that he had on those albums, you think those people are gonna come out like foxy Eminem, you know, Mary J. Blige?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
DJ Envy
I mean, I hope so. I mean, if he's Putting all together this concert, I think. I think whoever who's free, he can get. I think we'll definitely be there.
Charlamagne Tha God
The last time he did Yankee Stadium, he bought all of those people out. I thought I was looking at something recently. It was like, the last time he did Yankee Stadium, he bought out Drake, he bought out Nicki, he bought out Eminem, he bought out Mary.
DJ Envy
Well, Nikki's not gonna be at this one.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, I mean, they came on none of those albums, so it don't matter, Michael. But. Yeah, but. But Eminem and Mary. I can see that.
DJ Envy
Yep.
Dr. Umar
Okay. Well, yeah, I just wanted your opinion, bro. Shout out to y'. All Keep doing what y' all doing. Shout out to the people that we don't see. The engineers, all them people, producers, all that. Shout out to y', all, man.
DJ Envy
Absolutely. I think tickets go on sale today, right, for that Jay Z Constant on sale today.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm not sure.
DJ Envy
I believe so. All right. Thank you, brother. Get it off your chest 800-585-1051. If you need the event, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.

Charlamagne Tha God
I'm blessed, you know, Even though the
Dr. Umar
world is crazy, things are going on.
Charlamagne Tha God
I. I wanted to shout out, be a huge fan. Jess, I love you. You're funny as hell.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo, Charlemagne, I gotta tell you, you gotta leave the envy alone.
Dr. Umar
He's black.
DJ Envy
Thank you, sir.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't, bro. It's very questionable, bro.
DJ Envy
Thank you, NBA.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ain't never seen an old lady swag surf. They swag surfing churches, bro.
DJ Envy
I've never seen 10. I've never seen 10,000 women swag surf before in my life.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you ain't say that. You said you ain't never seen an old woman swag.
DJ Envy
Now, I said the ages range from 75 years old to 25. I have never seen that like that church envy. I have never seen anything like that. I church online, so I' seen it like that.
Charlamagne Tha God
So they swag surf online in church.
Lauren LaRosa
I ain't going to lie. Yo, don't just act like you be saying, mad 75 year olds out here
Charlamagne Tha God
swag surfing your where everywhere. Football games, basketball Games
DJ Envy
to see 9,000 people.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know where I go nowadays, why I don't hear swag surf. I was at the NASCAR event in Daytona on Saturday and the DJ play swag White people be swag surfing all love beat. I want to say it's gentrified, but it's not.
DJ Envy
That's because of Taylor.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's like when white people come to a soul food.
DJ Envy
Taylor Swift started that. All the white people started doing it. They started doing it the football game. But to see a 75 year old doing it with a 25 year old man. What's the highlights of mine?
Charlamagne Tha God
Let me just say Taylor Swift started.
DJ Envy
That's what I started seeing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let me holler at you. Look envy, I'm stick up for you, Charlotte. He's black.
DJ Envy
Thank you, sir.
Charlamagne Tha God
I read your book. Ain't no man I never heard of
DJ Envy
a Mexican Spanish dude stalking his wife and then gets on the phone with
Charlamagne Tha God
her and gives her ultimatum, he's black. First of all, I don't like that. I don't like what you just did just now. Okay?
DJ Envy
Goodbye, dj.
Dr. Umar
I don't know if that helped me,
DJ Envy
but thank you, sir.
Dr. Umar
Hey, look, look, I'm just supporting you
Charlamagne Tha God
and me, that's all y'.
Lauren LaRosa
All.
DJ Envy
I just want to say I'm a huge fan.
Charlamagne Tha God
I love you guys. You guys get me through the day. I've been going through a lot lately.
DJ Envy
I just want to say thank you guys for all that you do.
Charlamagne Tha God
Can I ask you a question? I'm going through the ringer. Yeah. I'm sorry that you're going through all that, but are you black? No, I'm black. Oh, how you gonna do that?
DJ Envy
Forget all the things I'm going through when I'm having problems, you know, I'm stressed out.
Charlamagne Tha God
He just started talking like he's trying to. Look, look, I'm off to finish probation. My mom put up my lawyer fees.
DJ Envy
I gotta pay her back 20 grand.
Charlamagne Tha God
I almost. I caught a case.
DJ Envy
So I'm black.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm finishing out my probation. Why do you keep correlating all of them?
DJ Envy
He said I caught a case of my money.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm black. Why are you doing this?
DJ Envy
Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. What's up, Lauren?
Angela Yee
For my mom. Amen.
DJ Envy
This is for your mom.
Angela Yee
Thank you. She gonna be. She gonna call you, she'll say, thank you, dj, There's a whole bunch of things in there. For mom. For about a year.
DJ Envy
Really?
Angela Yee
Yes.
DJ Envy
Well, that'll last a year. So, Mom. Duke, no Edible. Salute to the Vault. There's edibles in there, too.

Charlamagne Tha God
All right.
DJ Envy

Angela Yee
Thank you, though.
DJ Envy
All right. Salute to the Vault.
Angela Yee
Yes. Thank you. The Vault.
DJ Envy
You got the latest with Lauren coming up?
Angela Yee
We do. So Cameron and J. Cole sat down for an interview. And we have exclusive audio from the interview. It hasn't dropped yet, but people will be able to hear first some of the things that they get into. And it gets. They get into the conversations.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right.
DJ Envy
We'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Angela Yee
Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sources.
Angela Yee
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you.
DJ Envy
Take me through that.
Angela Yee
Take me through that.
Dr. Umar
The latest with Lauren on the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
LL Cool baby talk to me.
Angela Yee
Okay, so good morning, guys. First of all. So J. Cole sat down for an interview with Nadeska on for Apple Music. But at the same time, over the weekend, it was revealed that him and Cameron finally had their sit down one on one. And the reason why this was like such a oh, shoot moment was because there was the issue about Cameron filing a lawsuit claiming that J. Cole owed him an interview for a verse that he did. It was supposed to be in return, and that didn't happen. So now they finally, you know, had their moment. So we're going to talk about the Cameron interview first because that has an area. It will air Wednesday on YouTube at 5pm Eastern Standard Time via Talk with Flea. But I, I got some advanced exclusive clips from the conversation. So let's get into that. So they have a conversation about just where, like, J. Cole's relationship is now with Drake and Kendrick following all of the the beef. Let's take a listen. You've had your relationships with Kendrick and Drake stretch back. No, that's not it. Can you play? Let me see. I was labeled. That wasn't a Jessica's interview.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was just live radio, guys.
Mimi Brown
I know.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, we're just sitting here, you know, killing a little bit of time to do something that should have already been produced.
Angela Yee
Oh, my God.
Charlamagne Tha God
What are you looking for?
Angela Yee
I'm looking for my list.
Dr. Umar
Thank you.
Angela Yee
Envy. Yes.
Dr. Umar
Personally, where you at with them friendship wise?
DJ Envy
Today I'm in the same place. Right. You know, I mean, where it's like, yo, I Genuinely love this, but I'm not gonna act like we've been communicating and talking, you know, I mean, I've had conversations with them, like, post everything, you know, I mean, but it's not like it's a lot. But that's just. That's me not knowing where they at. Me maybe assuming because I don't heard X, Y and Z.
Dr. Umar
Right.
DJ Envy
But it has nothing to do with, like, how I actually feel. I genuinely love these n. I be wanting to show off a text and even saying that on the mic is kind of lame to me, but it's just.
Charlamagne Tha God
It is my truth, I promise you. I watched in the desk interview and, you know, I had left with more questions than answers. And that was one of the questions because, you know, I saw J. Cole saying how his wife cried when he squashed the beef with Kendrick. But I just wanted to know, what's your relationship like with Kendrick?
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Because. And then.
Charlamagne Tha God
Glad Pam asked that.
Angela Yee
Yeah. In the interview with Nadeska. She does. Toward the end of the interview, they kind of get to it, but they, like, cut out a lot of his answer in the Nadeska's interview. So now let's take a listen to J. Cole and Cameron talking about the fact that J. Cole felt like everything that happened after he backed out of the beef, it got out of hand, and it was this, like, orchestrated attack on Drake. Let's take a listen.
Dr. Umar
Do you think that the Drake and Kendrick thing got totally out of here right away?
DJ Envy
The world became like politics, right? Either Kendrick or you, Drake. When I felt like I was, like, disgusted both ways, Damn near. That's definitely not my place to say. I'm that apologize. But I think the out of hand that I think is like, to me is like disgusting how people try to use that opportunity. Either show how they really felt about Drake the whole time, right. Or just like, pile on. That's a fact, and tear this dude down and like, create. Create a narrative as if he's not great. It was a whole campaign, and probably still is to this day, of like, belittling and tearing down what this dude built as if it was some we have never seen. Just like when I see Kendrick get up, get the moment he. The pop out the stadium, the super bowl, the Grammys, the Grammys. I'm just as proud of this as I was when I knew him back then. But I also hate. I hate that for Drake, I'm over here like, man, I hope Iceman go crazy.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, even if Iceman goes crazy, it still won't take away the fact that he just lost the rap battle.
DJ Envy
Yeah, he lost the rap battle.
Charlamagne Tha God
He lost the rap battle. He got his ass kicked in the rap battle.
DJ Envy
But what Cole is saying outside of that, yeah, he lost the rap battle, but the fact that all these different people came on piling on top of him, you know what I mean? People that never lost liked him, that they showed their true colors when. When he was at his quote, unquote, lowest. That's what he said.
Angela Yee
But I think in that conversation, because some of those people, when it came out, I mean, they took the moment to do it, but some of those people said that they had legitimate reasons. Like, people were saying that there were things happening behind the scenes that they didn't like.
Lauren LaRosa
And then I want to correct, like, the lowest. When you say lowest now, I understand. Like, there's no. It's literally just him losing a rat.
DJ Envy
He was getting his ass kicked. He was getting his ass.
Lauren LaRosa
I mean, but by Kendrick.
Dr. Umar
Yeah.
DJ Envy
And then everybody jumped on top of it. Every artist that didn't like him was throwing verses at him. Yeah, he got his ass kicked.
Lauren LaRosa
Just cause you got your ass kicked by Kendrick don't mean that you at your lowest.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's a worthy ass kick.
DJ Envy
You know what I mean?
Charlamagne Tha God
It's like if you lose a basketball game to Michael Jordan, you know?
DJ Envy
Absolutely.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you would have won, we'd have been like, damn, Drake, okay?
Angela Yee
And people still might have took him. I think even if he had won, people still might have took the moment to be like, all right, you won. But, like, here's how I feel, because I just think at that time, it was a conversation about, let's pull back the veil.
Charlamagne Tha God
Very hard to do that when somebody's winning. Very hard to do that when somebody's.
DJ Envy
He was never gonna win that. That. That battle. But I will say this, though. I love the. I love how J. Cole and Cameron set it up. Cameron was doing his. His podcast, and J. Cole walked in and was like, yo, bro.
Dr. Umar
Really?
DJ Envy
A lawsuit? You gonna file a lawsuit on me?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, that was.
DJ Envy
I just thought it was the last
Angela Yee
clip I'm gonna play from the interview because I want people to actually go and watch the interview on Wednesday on YouTube. Talk with Flea at 5pm Eastern Standard Time is them actually addressing the lawsuit conversation, which is what they teased in the. In that intro. Let's take a listen.
Dr. Umar
Let's just get the elephant out the room. When you first seen the lawsuit, what was your emotion when you seen.
DJ Envy
Yo, I was like, I ain't gonna lie. I was like, hurt, almost disappointed, like. Cause I got so much respect for
Charlamagne Tha God
you, you know what I mean?
DJ Envy
And I look at you like I know you are as a standup person,
Charlamagne Tha God
you know what I mean?
DJ Envy
When the lawsuit come out, I'm like, come on, Cam. You really could have hit me. Like, although it was taking a long time. I don't give a. If you would've called me and been like, yo, like, you could have screamed on me. We could have argued.
Lauren LaRosa
Boom, boom.
DJ Envy
I would have preferred that. And my first thought was, like, it then even know I was still gonna come to his show. And it's like misinformation, the lawsuit itself. But nah, I get it though. Let me put myself in his shoes. Like, yo feel like he was getting
Charlamagne Tha God
a run around and came.
DJ Envy
Mine is probably like, I seen this movie before.
Charlamagne Tha God
You don't with me.
DJ Envy
You don't want to do the favor. You trying to drag me out until I don't want to do it no more.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right.
DJ Envy
Bet I still said in my mind, I was like, yo, I' ma still go see Cam.
Dr. Umar
And which of course, it was never going to go nowhere. But for me, it was more like, I need to get this attention.
Charlamagne Tha God
Cam wasn't wrong. Business is business, you know, And I'm glad Cole is a man of integrity who, you know, ultimately showed up.
DJ Envy
Look at it from both sides. Yeah, that's.
Charlamagne Tha God
But now. Now we also know how Cole feels about Drake and his lawsuit against Kendrick then. Because if you feel that way about Cameron lawsuit, then you must be disgusted by Drake filing a lawsuit against Kendrick over a rap battle. I hope that conversation comes up.
Lauren LaRosa
I wonder if Cam makes him that.
Angela Yee
Yeah, hopefully it will come up. It wasn't in with the clips that I had though. But again, that is going to interview. Interview. That interview is going to air YouTube talk with VF PM Eastern Standard Time Wednesday. We have one more clip, but I have to rap, so we'll bring it back in. They're telling me to rap.
DJ Envy
You got. If you want to play it, you can play now. You might as well stay with us.
Angela Yee
First of all, how long is the J. Cole Dreamville Fest apology?
Charlamagne Tha God
I think you should wrap up. You got a minute.
Angela Yee
So you're on the stage at Dreamville Fest. What was going through your mind in the five seconds before you made the apology? Was it something that you had really thought of and planned?
DJ Envy
No, it hit me an hour before, but before that I was stressing the out. But in the moment that the idea came to me, I lifted and I got light. And I got excited because I felt like I misrepresented myself. You know what I mean? It's like all of a sudden I'm giving life to division into a negative storylines. By default, teens between the ages of 13 to 17 are automatically put into a protective experience. This past weekend, like every other Sunday, you were on the court with the guys playing ball. Just a quick pickup game living out your hoop dreams. No triple doubles, but mean set of threes in between buckets. One of the homies mentioned he closed on a new crib. This is big. And while everyone's asking about housewarming and making plans to celebrate, you're asking the real questions. Like has he spoken to his State Farm agent yet about coverage? See, homeownership is one thing, but the right coverage is the real game changer agent. Even more than your last hot streak, it's how you protect your legacy. Dropping buckets and bars on the court. A State Farm agent can more than assist you with finding the right coverage for your new place. If you have a claim, your local agent can help you file it. Yep, that's right. Over the phone, in person, online or on the app, they are ready to help you and they don't drop the ball. You know what I mean? Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

A bigger stage is being live streamed, live stream and say something that you believe in. Told my wife. She the only one. I told her I ain't tell nobody else. I was like, yo, this is what I'm about to go. Do she start crying? Because she know. She know how I feel about him. And she saw how it was weighing on me the two, three days before that. She could see. So when I go and do it, I felt even better than I felt knowing I was going to do because now the world knows how I really actually feel.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's from the desk. And, you know, here's my thing. If it was weighing on Cole so much after the fact, right, Him. Him dissing Kendrick, why was it so easy for you to diss Kendrick was in the moment? If it's weighing on you so much after the fact and your wife knows you stressing and blah, blah, blah. What about when you was writing the bar? What about when you went in the booth to record?
DJ Envy
Probably was an emotional play. Probably was an emotional, emotional thing. He got. Got right to it. And then when he did, it was like, I didn't know we could have
Angela Yee
held this because he. He talked about it. He said that it was the pressure from the outside. He felt like if he didn't respond, he couldn't put the fallout out because. Because people would have been like, nah, we not trying to hear that. You were supposed to respond. But then he responded and apologized, and it was the same effect. People were like, we don't want to hear you.
Lauren LaRosa
People do things in a moment. You know what I mean? He just responded, wrote them raps in a moment, and then was like, ah,
Charlamagne Tha God
that's a lot in that moment, in the moment to sit down, write a rap, go in the booth, record it, it, listen to it, mix it. You know what I mean? Like, that's not for the moment. Yeah, you had a long time to think about whether or not you should put this out. So if it weighed on you so much after the fact, why didn't weigh on you so much while you was doing it?
Angela Yee
So you don't believe. You don't believe him, the weighing on him?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I'm just asking a simple question. That would have been my question back to him. Like, if it's weighing on you so much after the fact, why didn't weigh on you before you did all of that?
Lauren LaRosa
What did Kate's response warned him to apologize. The response
Angela Yee
at the time, but yeah. So that was the. From the Deska's interview, which is now live on Apple. You could take a listen to that. And the other clips are from Cameron's talk with Flea, which will be live on Wednesday on YouTube.
DJ Envy
All right, when we come back, we got front page News. And then Dr. Umar will be joining us. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back in some front page news. I'm gonna start off with some NBA news, some salute to Kevin Durant. He passed Michael Jordan for the fifth on the scoring. He's fifth on the scoring list as of right now. He scored 27 points and now that gave him 32, 294 points, which is two more than Michael Jordan.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm just letting y' all know I'm going to be the 75 year old man looking at these lists, letting y' all know that none of these people were better than Michael Jordan, okay? I don't care where Michael Jordan ranks on the all time scoring list. Nobody above him was better than him. Okay?
DJ Envy
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's up, LeBron James?
Dr. Umar
I agree.
Mimi Brown
Good morning, MV Josh. Charlemagne. How y' all doing this Monday morning?
DJ Envy
Good morning.
Dr. Umar
Peace.
Charlamagne Tha God
Mimi.
Mimi Brown
Good morning. So we start this hour with a developing story out of New York. That's where a deadly accident on the Runway of LaGuardia Airport is now causing major travel disruptions across the regions. So officials say that Air Canada, a jet, it collided with a Port authority fire truck late last night while the plane was landing. The pilot and the co pilot, they were killed in the crash. Officials say 41 passengers and crew members, they were taken to the hospital. 32 passengers have since been released. Others were seriously hurt. The plane was arriving from Montreal and there were 72 passengers and four crew members aboard. Investigators say the fire truck was responding to a separate incident and had permission to be on the Runway. But for reasons still under investigation, the, the plane and the vehicle ended up in the same place at the same time. I believe we have some audio from the air traffic controller when they were trying to warn the plane to stop.
Dr. Umar
Truck 1 Co. Lavardy Tower requesting to
Charlamagne Tha God
cross 4 at Delta 1 Co. Cross for.
Dr. Umar
Delta Truck 1 Co.
DJ Envy
Crossing for.
Charlamagne Tha God
At Delta Frontier 4195 to stop there, please.
Dr. Umar
Stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop.
Charlamagne Tha God
Stop Truck one, stop. Truck One.
Angela Yee
Stop.
Dr. Umar
Damn.
Charlamagne Tha God
So what happened? Like, did the fire truck not hear him? No.
DJ Envy
First he said, go ahead. First he said, yeah, you cleared a run to go across the Runway. And then he said stop. And maybe they didn't hear him, maybe they turned them off, but at first he said they were clear. That's why I asked you earlier if the shutdown affects air traffic control because it seems like they didn't have everything together.
Lauren LaRosa
I mean it wasn't good communication.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, well, that is all still under investigation. The nose of the plane was sheared off and the fire truck, it overturned. And LaGuardia Airport is now shut down to at least 2pm Eastern. And that impact is already spreading. More than 400 flights have already been canceled and officials are warning of major delays, road closures and traffic around the airport. LaGuardia is one of the busiest airports in the country with hundreds of flights a day. So this disruption is expected to affect travel across the Northeast today. This crash also comes, of course, as airports across the country, like you just mentioned, envy, are already dealing with TSA shutdowns, long line security tied to the government shutdown. The National Transportation Safety Board is now sending a team to investigate now what caused this crash. And of course, this is still developing this morning and investigators are now working to figure out exactly how this crash happened.
Charlamagne Tha God
So I wonder, how soon are we going to start seeing a lot of airports start closing down?
Mimi Brown
Yeah, yeah, well, it, yeah, it depends. I think we talked earlier last week about how smaller airports were going to start closing down. And so, you know, this is just having a ripple effect everywhere. I know we talked when the first government shut down that the air traffic controllers, they were underemployed, so they were short staffed. And so, you know, who knows what this investigation will turn up.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's what I mean between staffing shortages and then people just simply not feeling safe. You know, I mean, between the ICE agents at the airport, between, you know, things like we just heard with this crash, like people just not gonna feel safe to want to fly if it's not an emergency, what's the point?
DJ Envy
Yeah, but the problem is there's so many people move around that need to fly for work. Yeah. Like you said. So I don't, I don't know. If you cannot not fly, like, you know, people could say, well, I don't want to. I might not go on vacation. I might take a vacation where I could drive. But those airports stay busy. And I'm super surprised at an airport like LaGuardia that has so much going on that that wasn't covered. But that's very scary. And rest in peace to those two pilots.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely. And in other major news this morning, a decision out of Washington is raising serious concerns about who controls the local news media in America. So the FCC, they just approved a $6.2 billion merger that would allow one company, Nexstar, to become the largest owner of local TV stations in the country. So to make this deal happen, the FC FCC had to waive its own long standing rule that was designed to prevent one company from controlling too many local TV stations. So that rule said one company should not reach more than 39% of the U.S. households. And this new deal would allow Nexstar to reach as much as 80% of households through stations across the country. So the deal would give one company control over more than 260 TV stations nationwide. So across 44 states, including Washington, D.C. and now eight states, including California and New York, they are suing to start to try and stop the merger, saying that it could raise cable prices, cut local newsroom jobs, and put too much power over local news into the hands of one company. Here's California Attorney General Rob Bonta explaining what could happen.
DJ Envy
The deal is illegal under the Clayton Act, a federal law which prohibits mergers that substantially lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly. Mega mergers in broadcast media are especially dangerous because they result in less choice in content across broadcast channels, the main source of local TV that can reach every home in the country. That means fewer journalists keeping a check on public institutions and people in power. It means less coverage of local corruption, of local schools and hospitals, less investigative journalism, less accountability, less public awareness, fairness. Despite all the facts I just laid out. In early February, President Trump tweeted, get that deal done. In Trump's words, he wants to knock out the fake news. And because our president makes policy decisions by social media, his FCC chairman, Brendan Carr immediately posted in response, let's get it done. By urging this unlawful deal through, Trump is yet again making it clear that he's more concerned with protecting greedy corporate interests than defending consumers, protecting a competitive economy, or making life more affordable for American families. Yet again, showing the lengths he'll go to silence news coverage that does anything but fan his ego.
Mimi Brown
This is, yeah, this is also part of a larger trend that we're seeing right now. We're very wealthy. Investors are buying up more and more media companies, TV stations and networks, concentrating more media power into fewer hands.
Charlamagne Tha God
So, you know what scary, Mimi? I see a lot of Democrats say things like, when we get back in power, we gonna break all of this stuff up. And what's scary is these people that are doing these deals, you know, well, first of all, the administration is moving like they don't plan to leave. And I don't think these corporations and the people that are doing these deals, if they thought another administration was coming in to break them up, I don't think they would be doing them.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
So they know something. Everybody really needs to look alive to you know where this country is headed.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely. I know I went off on a rant on Friday when we talked about this, but I think people really need to understand what's happening here. Your local news media now is going to be controlled by one company, which means everybody's going to be reporting on the same thing. And it's going to be almost similar to state sponsored media. So it's very important to pay attention to what's happening right before our very eyes. Well, that is your front page news, guys. I'm Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown tv For more stories, follow the Black Information Network.

Thank you.

All right, when we come back, Dr. Umar will be joining us. We're gonna kick it with Dr. Umar, so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Dr. Umar

It's DJ Envy.
DJ Envy
Just hilarious. Charlemagne the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lola Rose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building.
Charlamagne Tha God
The prince of Pan Africanism has returned to the Breakfast Club
Dr. Umar
to be back. Glad to be back. Been almost two years. I'm good. All is well. It's been a while since I saw y'. All. What happened since then? Number one, I got my Ghanaian citizenship.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, okay.
Dr. Umar
Last January, in fact. The president of Ghana will be at Temple University next week. So I'm gonna go and check him out. I debated Elon Musk's father at the Oxford Union. Okay, I won that. That was easy work. I was a little disappointed, though, because the host group at Oxford Union, they really kept me in the dark about what was going down. I found out the night before the debate that I was debating Elon Musk's father and only found that out because I spoke at Manchester University. And so we going to eat at the African restaurant when we get out of there. And they said, you ready for your debate with Elon Musk's father tomorrow? I said, what you talking about? I'm not debating Elon Musk's father. They pulled out the flyer. Nobody told me.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wow.
Dr. Umar
That I was going to debate Elon Musk's father. So I didn't really appreciate that. It was bittersweet. I mean, of course I destroyed him, but had I knew I was going against him, I would have been even more ready.
Charlamagne Tha God
When you stay ready, you don't gotta get ready.
Dr. Umar
Yeah, but still, that's like me inviting you to Africa, you know what I mean? To do a debate. And I never tell you who you're going to debate, you know, so that was a Little shady, you know what I mean? But it was still a good experience. Y' all know Malcolm X debated at the Oxford Union, you know what I mean? So that Pan African connect. And on Frederick Douglass's birthday, we completed the renovations at fdmg. So we completely done.
DJ Envy
School is done.
Dr. Umar
School is done.
DJ Envy
Congratulations.
Dr. Umar
We're just trying to get an inspection now.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Dr. Umar
The problem is the building inspector for our district is not really a Dr. Umar supporter. I never heard him say that. But based on the way he's interacted with me the past seven years, he's never really been a support, you know. And we did a walk through through the building about a week ago. Some of his comments was, didn't really make sense to me. So we got to deal with him. So for example, the H Vac was done and inspected like three years ago. So during the walkthrough he says, you have to get a balancing report. I said, what is that? He said, to make sure that all the vavs that release the air are releasing at the same time. I said, but we didn't already did our inspection for H Vac 2, three years ago. We didn't pass that. So you taking me back to something we didn't already pass. So it's a shame, you know what I mean? But, but he's the hold up now because he said he was going to get back in touch with me. It's been almost two weeks, I ain't heard from him yet. And remember during the summer they tried to sell the school behind my back, right? So I get a phone call, they say, yo, they're about to sell your school. I said, what you talking about, we own this? They said, nah, there's a sign on the door at the school. So I called somebody down in Delaware, I said, can you get the paperwork off the door? They didn't email it to me, they didn't mail it to me, they didn't call me. So they took it. What happened was the haters, so we got two schools. The haters took the paperwork off the high school, they sent it to YouTube. So YouTube, the haters, the struggle streamers is doing what they do to get their little two views, right? So then my supporters is like, yo, they're about to sell your school. But you know, they lie so much I didn't believe it. So I said, but let me send somebody down anyway. They went across the street, had another set of the paperwork, they sent it to me. If you don't pay this $40,000 in two weeks, we selling the Buildings, what? I heard nothing from the city for like five months. So I'm like, wait a minute, y' all could have been told me this. And when they tried to sell the school, it was at the very time that we had just got debanked from citizens. So we get a letter in the mail from Citizens saying we're not doing business with y' all no more. I call citizens, I said, why y' all not doing business with us no more? They never tell me, don't have to tell. First they told me they was doing the research. So I thought they thought the financial mismanagement because you know, they always said we stole the money. So I said okay, they going through the go through it, you know what I mean? But then they hit me back and say, no, it's something else. I said, so what? So they running me around for a whole month and then finally I get the letter saying you debanked. And, and from what I was told, they don't really have to tell you why. But Donald Trump, who I don't support, but he did sign something recently because Kanye west got debunked. He signed something recently where he said they cannot debank you you for your political positions and beliefs or something like that. So I might have a lawsuit against them because the only justification they can have for doing that is for me being who I am.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Dr. Umar
You feel me? Because the paperwork wasn't lying, you know what I mean? So they tried to sell the school while we didn't have access to the money.
DJ Envy
So it was the 40, 000 that you owed, was it tax?
Dr. Umar
Okay. So there's something called vacant property registration fee. So every year that you're not open you have to pay like 1500. But they jumped it up to like seven grand now. Right. So anyway, I wanted them to post date when I applied for the. You get a four year waiver if you're a nonprofit. So I say if they apply this four year waiver back, we don't owe nothing because it was only four years.
Charlamagne Tha God
Right.
Dr. Umar
So I'm trying to get them to post dated. They say we'll let you know. So I'm waiting for them to let me know if you ain't going to do it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Say that.
Dr. Umar
Yeah, I'm waiting on them. They never tell me no. And the next thing you know they trying to sell the school. School when we ain't even got access to the money. But all praise be to the most high, we was able to get the money, stave that off. We got a new bank account, black bank. We good.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what I find interesting, Dr. Uma? People like to say you a scammer, right? And I say Dr. Uma has the school. The school is.
Dr. Umar
I don't mind the allegations,
Charlamagne Tha God
but the school is there. They can't say you didn't use the money for seven years building to renovate it and all of that type of stuff. But I have her heard people say he'll never get accreditation.
Dr. Umar
Well, here's the thing. You don't need accreditation to be an independent school. You follow what I'm saying? Accreditation is a voluntary process. On a university level, it's a little bit more mandatory. But for grade schools, your right to operate comes from the state department of education. So I can voluntarily go and get some white people and ask them what they think about my black school. But being Dr. Umar Ifatunde, I don't really care about the opinions of anybody outside of my community. So we won't be doing that. That. So if Charlemagne said, you know what? I don't want to send my school to my child, to FDMG because they're not accredited, then send them somewhere else because I know what we about to do. We about to change the whole game.
Charlamagne Tha God
You think the state department of education will ever agree to have this?
Dr. Umar
Why not? I got all the credentials of any white person. In fact, I probably got more credentials than any other white person. So why not?
Charlamagne Tha God
Because you black.
Dr. Umar
There may be some difficulties along the road, but the biggest thing that's going to alleviate a lot of that, that we are not a government funded charter school. We are an independent tuition base. If you don't pay, they don't come. So remember, the school we have was a charter school. I used to be principal at a charter school. I used to be vice principal at a charter school. And there's so many hoops you got to jump through in order to keep that funding. It ain't really worth it to me. It's too much. It's too much. And so for me, I'm glad we went the way that we went. It's the first school in American history built. Built exclusively by donations from African people from around the world. Every single continent, nearly every country donated to fdmg.
DJ Envy
So what, are you going to be opening the doors where students can start?
Dr. Umar
Well, we got to get a certificate. Occupancy. I can't answer that. You feel me? That. See, it's always something holding me. If we had it right now, I'm confident we can start August. Not this year. Because you only got a few months, but of 20, 27, you feel me? But the question becomes, here we go again, we're completely done.
Charlamagne Tha God
Done.
Dr. Umar
How long before you give us our paper so we can start planning for the children? And I can't answer that.
DJ Envy
And with the children, what is your. What are you thinking as far, as, I guess, attendance? Is it going to be paid? Is it going to be tuition? Tuition. So kids have.
Dr. Umar
They got to pay. You don't pay, they don't. And it's not going to be an issue for us because number one, my popularity, my expertise, but also the demand where we are. If you look at the statistics for black children in Wilmington, if you go across the border and look at the educational statistics for black children in Chester, right? If you go across the border to New Jersey and look at the statistics for black children in southern New Jersey or northern Maryland, it ain't great. You follow me? So the parents in that area, they're looking for an alternative to the charter school system that's always expelling their kids to the public school system. He ain't teaching their kids to the Catholic school system who always looking for a reason not to allow their children in. And we gonna be just that.
Angela Yee
Well, so what happens when the schools are open, right? All over, globally, and I become the
Dr. Umar
superintendent, meaning I fall back, Right? You the principal in Detroit, hypothetically, he the principal in Chicago, he the principal in Jamaica, Envy the principal in London. You feel me?
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Dr. Umar
And then I become the superintendent. That's my vision.
Angela Yee
But okay, so even with that setup, right, you still, Dr. Umar is super popular in the space that you're in, the darts. And the controversy still gonna keep coming your way and that'll trickle down into the schools. Like, what's your plan to fight back against that?
Dr. Umar
That. Because now remember now you're right, right? But if you're producing a well educated learner, I mean, you still get your darts. But that's because of who I am, right? But if we have a product that shows these kids are learning and they passing these white man tests, we good. You see what I'm saying? The parents are concerned about the quality of education. They're not concerned about who like or who do not like Dr. Uma. And to be honest with you, because I am who I am and we're educating children to benefit our race.
Lauren LaRosa
Race.
Dr. Umar
It's our race we are concerned about, not the outsiders. Now, if a white person want to send a white kid to the school, we'll consider it. If the Latinos Want to send a Latino kid to the school, we'll consider it. But you better understand, we teach an African spirituality here. So if you see Harriet Tubman floating down the hallway, don't get mad at me.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you had multiple schools, I don't know what they would, what they would criticize you for. Dr. Yeah, I really don't.
Dr. Umar
I don't know. Because the criticism is not based on truth. They're not after the truth. They want to slander you because they cannot replace you.
DJ Envy
You know, I wanted to ask, you know, when you look at all these, these artists, athletes, these black people riding for Donald Trump, asking Donald Trump, what's your thoughts?
Dr. Umar
What's the first thing that comes absolutely insane.
DJ Envy
Like when you see you either you're
Dr. Umar
either a coon or you're politically uneducated. Donald Trump has spent the entire first three months of this term term eliminating as much black history as he possibly can.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's right.
Dr. Umar
He didn't signed executive orders where you can't teach about slavery, you can't teach about racism. He came down to Philly and had them stripped down all the history about the enslaved Africans that George Washington owned. And it wasn't until the good mayor of Philadelphia, Cherelle Parker, she sued him in court and forced him to put it back up. He went into the Smithsonian Museum in D.C. and made them take down all kind of economics exhibits. He hates black people. He hates black people. He is going to go down in history, is one of the most anti black and all of it was anti black. Even Obama in my opinion. But he's going to go down in history as one of the five times most anti black presidents in American history. And he's doing it on purpose. So how a black person still supports Donald Trump, especially after he eliminated dei, which he struck out out the day he got inaugurated. Donald Trump eliminated DEI on Inauguration Day. He didn't even go home and have dinner. He cut it out. And as a result of that, 300000 black women lost their jobs. And we talked about this before, I told you, there's really no black middle class. There's only haves or have nots. The black middle class is a creation of the government. What do I mean by that? Teachers, police, firemen, the post office, you feel me? Government job, white capital don't hire black people. So if the government don't hire college educated black people, there is no middle class. And that's why when he eliminated dei, you saw the middle class fell right out because there is no black middle class. That is a myth. The government created the black middle class and Donald Trump just eliminated it. And we got to stop being suckers, Jess. By listening to what people say. And look at who financed them. All you got to do is look at who financed system. Look at Donald Trump. Who's Donald Trump? Top campaign contributors Envy. Elon Musk. Miriam Adelson, one of the 50th richest people in the world. She is a casino mogul. She's also a pro Palestine occupation supporter. Right. Guess who else donated to Donald Trump? Timothy Mellon. Have you ever heard of Carnegie Mellon University? Mellon bank that became Citizens Bank. That's the Melon family. They created Gulf oil. You ever see the Gulf Gas? G U L F. That's Melon.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Dr. Umar
He gave Donald Trump over a hundred million dollars. Miriam Adelson gave Donald Trump over a hundred million dollars. I think Elon Musk gave him more than $300,000. And guess who gave him a nice 25 million dollar donation? Oh, Vince McMahon of the WWF. Why is that important? Because while everybody was riding Sean puffy combs. Vince McMahon was accused of worse things than Sean Puffy Combs. While they kept showing us the Cassie video of Puff stomping out Cassie.
DJ Envy
Which was wrong.
Dr. Umar
No man should ever put his hands on a woman. But Vince McMahon was defecating on women. Vince McMahon had people holding women down and they was forcibly assaulting them. Just. It never made the TV. You know why? Because he gave Donald Trump a 25 million dollar donation in three weeks after Donald Trump got inaugurated. Envy. The federal investigation into Vince McMahon disappeared. Not only that, Jess. Guess who becomes Secretary of Education. And she's still there right now. His wife. She never been a principal, a school psychologist or nothing, but she's your Secretary of education. See what $25 million will buy you. This is not a democracy. This is a slaveocracy. It is a mediocracy. It is a farmocracy. The rule of drugs, the rule of media, the control of black people. And it is an aristocracy. The rule of the rich.
DJ Envy
You know we stopped you. She's with a tall mix.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo.
Lauren LaRosa
Relax over here. Listen, I gotta ask you something too.
Dr. Umar
Respectfully. Because this is my sister right here. Even if she bunny hopped, I'm gonna ask the ancestors. Is he Mexican?
Angela Yee
He's black too.
Lauren LaRosa
He's Mexican.
Dr. Umar
He's a black, but he's more black. Okay, so one parent is what?
Lauren LaRosa
Black.
Dr. Umar
American? African.
Lauren LaRosa
African American.
Dr. Umar
From the continent.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, over there. Somewhere. You know they.
Dr. Umar
You sure?
DJ Envy
Yes.
Lauren LaRosa
African. And his mother is half black.
Dr. Umar
African.
DJ Envy
Right.
Dr. Umar
Now, white African.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Angela Yee
No.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hell, she told us that they weren't. The daddy was from. It was not. No Africa.
Lauren LaRosa
What?
Charlamagne Tha God
You told us what he was.
Lauren LaRosa
His father is. His father is African. Like, for real. Like up and down to the ground, like dashiki. Like I'm saying.
Dr. Umar
Okay.
Lauren LaRosa
And then the. His mother is half Mexican. Her mother is Mexican and her father was black.
Dr. Umar
So you said he's 75.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Dr. Umar
And if I saw a picture of him, I' ma say that's a brother.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
I never heard this equation.
Lauren LaRosa
You know what I'm saying?
Dr. Umar
Yo, he might identify as a black man.
Lauren LaRosa
Full time. Full time? Yes. He don't even speak. He don't speak Spanish. Nobody in my house even speaks Spanish.
Charlamagne Tha God
We went to a concert one time and I like the brother. He's a great brother. He walked in charlamagne. What are tacos?
Dr. Umar
That's.
Lauren LaRosa
Look, because he don't.
Angela Yee
He don't like fried food.
DJ Envy
All he had was.
Lauren LaRosa
Was chicken strips and fries. We don't eat fries. You know, we trying to.
Dr. Umar
You know, I'mma take your word.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
No, for real.
Dr. Umar
If his father black and his mom half black and he identify full time as black.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Dr. Umar
He get a pass.
Lauren LaRosa
He don't even.
Angela Yee
He.
Lauren LaRosa
When people say Mexican, he be like, what?
Dr. Umar
So if he came to a Dr. Umar lecture. If he came to a Dr. Umar lecture, he would not feel out of. Out of place?
Lauren LaRosa
Hell no. He want to come to one. He wanted to come today because he knew you was coming. He was majoring income yesterday.
Dr. Umar
Okay, cuz. The next one of you black women give your yoni verse to a non African. I'mma bust a gasket. I'm tired of the bunny hopping. No ice, no rice.
Lauren LaRosa
That's right.
Dr. Umar
No spice, no sand, no salsa. Y' all know the rules.
Charlamagne Tha God
She just got off the rice.
Dr. Umar
Are you serious? Who was she dating?
DJ Envy
She was on the right.
Dr. Umar
Who was you dating?
Angela Yee
I said I've always dated black men. I said Travis Kelce was cute. And now they think I like white men because I said Travis Kelce was Hanks.
DJ Envy
Kelsey, that was her.
Angela Yee
Chad Hanks was never mentioned. Y' all made that up.
Dr. Umar
I don't have a problem if you think they attractive as long as you don't cross the line.
DJ Envy
She tried.
Dr. Umar
I've seen attractive white girls. I've seen attractive Latino girls.
DJ Envy
You seen attractive white girls?
Dr. Umar
Sure, I've seen attractions.
Angela Yee
You see them because I don't say nothing.
Dr. Umar
What do you mean?
Angela Yee
I'm just wondering, like, if could you maybe in my.
Dr. Umar
These white Women are so narcissistic. They cannot believe that there's black men who don't want them.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Dr. Umar
The curvy ones, the five. Five thick in the thigh. They be in my box sending me everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
They trying to set you up. Yes, that's what that is. Yeah.
Dr. Umar
It's FBI, CIA.
Angela Yee
So never like, even back in the day, like, you've never even. Because I know some black men who've, like, tried it.
Dr. Umar
White girl in college who was in love with me. Her name was Beth. And she had the fattest white center buns I ever seen in my life. We was both psychology men. And I never bent Beth over. Cause it's against my principles.
Mimi Brown
That's right.
Dr. Umar
Ain't no white woman on this planet can ever say Dr. Umar had any of their honeycomb hideout.
DJ Envy
Okay, shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Shut up.
Angela Yee
My question is. Oh, why they keep putting you and Suki, like, together? Those couple pictures now, they said, like,
Dr. Umar
shout out to my sister Suki, who's also Wilmington, Delaware.
Angela Yee
My sister as well.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Dr. Umar
She actually graduated from the school we now own when it was the Moyer Academy Black charter school.
Angela Yee
I be telling people she went to school in Delaware, and they don't be.
Dr. Umar
She went to the Moyer Academy. Yeah. Suki is a friend of mine. I'm not the father of the child.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay?
Dr. Umar
Okay. She's happy and looking forward to being a mother again. And of course, I support her as her brother now down the line, because I don't have a son down the line. If I need a heir to the throne, because I need a prince of Pan Africanism, Junior. If I ain't wifed out, Suki might carry that baby. That's interesting, because Suki is conscious.
Angela Yee
People don't know that about her either.
Dr. Umar
Don't get me wrong. Yes, she would have to make some changes to be mama of the prince. Right? But Suki is very much conscious. And I'll be honest with you, if something happened to me, God forbid, she is one of the few women I know who I do think would raise my son the way I would want him to be. Do you feel me on that? Because a lot of women date US activists and us Pan Africanists. But the minute we go to jail or something, they go get Mike Mike and Tay Tay selling dope on the corner. How did you go from a damn revolutionary to a dope boy? You see what I'm saying? I don't think Suki would do that. Like her character to me suggests that your son gonna be the way you wanted him to be.
Angela Yee
When I first met her, I literally tell people this all the time. When I first met her, everything about her was super conscious. It was super. Like, it was so different than what way? Absolutely what she was. So when I tell people that, they're like, it's no way. And every now and then, she'll sit down and do an interview, and it'll. And people will hear it, and they're like, amazing. I'm like, this is how she was since I've ever known her.
Dr. Umar
The conversation blew me away.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Dr. Umar
I couldn't believe she was the same sister from the video. You feel me? Intelligent, brilliant.
Angela Yee
Yes.
Dr. Umar
And I'm saying to myself, and so
Angela Yee
pro us how you end up here.
Lauren LaRosa
Very pro us she is.
Dr. Umar
But I know. I know. I have faith in. I have faith in Sister Tsukihana, and I believe that before it's all over, she gonna shock the world.
Charlamagne Tha God
How did she end up here?
DJ Envy
Was it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Was it just performative just to get high or what is it?
Dr. Umar
I don't know. I didn't ask her. I didn't ask her, but I. I don't think she's staying there.
Angela Yee
I don't think she's either. She has too much inside of her that's too much
Dr. Umar
talented. You know, I got a lot of faith in that, sister.
Charlamagne Tha God
I saw Drewski apologize to you because he was sitting.
Dr. Umar
He better apologize. All them views I got him on that episode. Gonna sit up here in the Breakfast Club and tell y' all they had to get me off the set. Set. Negro ain't a Negro. You never pull me off no set nowhere. That episode I did with Drewski went crazy. Shout out to Drew because he told the church about the black church.
Charlamagne Tha God
Apologized because he was sitting courtside with a white woman.
Dr. Umar
I didn't sweat that because I don't know if they was dating.
Angela Yee
They were dating.
Dr. Umar
Oh, they are. He's a bunny hopper. Drew, you got 500 lashes coming.
Angela Yee
I have a question about your daughter, Lisa. So that unfolded online.
Dr. Umar
Yes.
Angela Yee
Right.
Dr. Umar
I was in Sweden, and I'm in Sweden. I'm getting ready to speak. Last year. A year now.
Angela Yee
Okay. Yeah, a year.
Dr. Umar
Last week.
Angela Yee
Yes.
Dr. Umar
And my daughter goes live and she says, I'm.
DJ Envy
Look, we know parents want to feel confident as their teens navigate social media with Instagram teen accounts. Teens get automatic protections by default. Teens between the ages of 13 to 17 are automatically put into a protective experience. That means they get built in content settings for what they see, contact limits on who can contact them, and time management tools like daily time limit reminders. As well as sleep mode, which mutes notifications from 10pm to 7am plus. Teens under 16 need a parent's permission to change any of these settings to be less strict. Instagram continues to work on building new safety features to help create age appropriate experiences for teens. Dr. Umar
And I want to have a conversation with my dad. He's never been in my life, and I just want to know why. And I'm sitting there watching her in sweet and envy. And I'm saying, look at my beautiful daughter lying like the gospel. First of all, we've been in contact throughout her life by phone. And every time I try to get to see my daughter, she never shows up.
DJ Envy
Why?
Dr. Umar
Because her mother raised her to not like me. And the reason her mother raised her to not like me is her mother told me to my face. Face. God is my witness and my ancestors are in the room. If you do not marry me, it will be both of us or neither one of us. She told me I would not be in my daughter's life. I took her to court. I got all the paperwork. A file like this, contempt of court orders. Because I was in my daughter's life up until about 5, 6, 7. That's when the mom stepped it up, right? I guess she found a man. You know how that go. They don't want you around when a man around because he might feel insecure. So they keep you at your kid's life just to please the man, whatever the case may be. And the court would never arrest her. They would never find her. I remember one day the judge said, y' all got the biggest file in my court. I said, you, Honor, if you punish her, maybe she'll stop keeping my daughter from me. But if I file contempt, and every time I come down here, y' all don't do nothing but tell her to stop. Why she gonna stop? But my daughter knows this because we've spoken before, and she texts me about once or twice a year. And every time she texts me, I want to see you winning. Where? In fact, since she came out last year, Envy. It's been a year, right? Guess what? I ain't seen her yet. But you told the whole world you want a conversation? You told the whole world you got some questions. Well, guess what, princess. Your daddy been trying to meet with you face to face since you call yourself exposing me. And I ain't seen you yet. Cause it was never about meeting your dad. It was about becoming a struggle. Streamer. When that Drew ski episode blew up, she probably said, hey, maybe I could skate off my dad name, too. And that's exactly what she did. But I love my baby. She's a baby. I' ma let her. It's going to take time. I don't think she's going to come to me until she's out of her mama's house. Because her mama don't like me. You follow what I'm saying? So I just got to be patient. But I ended up in that situation. But I fought it. I fought it, and the courts never backed me. I fought it with lawyers, without lawyers. And maybe it's just the city of Philadelphia and there's a lot of brothers there who will back me up. They don't do a lot to make sure you see your child. They give you the paper. I got the custody paper, but who going to enforce it? I can't kick in the door. You see what I'm saying? Grab a mom by the throat, then I'm done, right? So it's a shame, but I take full responsibility for it. Because if I don't get her pregnant, I'm not in the situation. And the one thing I say to black men is this. Black women, y' all don't have to take responsibility for what y' all didn't know about a man. If your child's father does you wrong, you don't have to take responsibility for what you didn't know. About him. But if we. If a woman does us wrong, wrong, we got to take responsibility for what we didn't know about her. Because we are the man. You follow what I'm saying? We're the leaders. I can't use the excuse that I didn't know her mother would do me like that. I didn't know her mother would do me like that. But if I don't get her pregnant, I'm not here. And so what I try to tell the young brothers, Forget the excuses. It don't matter. Are you a man or are you not take responsibility for your decisions. If I don't impregnate that woman, I'm not here today with this problem.
Angela Yee
How old is she?
Dr. Umar
22,002. Right? To 22 is 2345. She'll be 24 on May 6th.
Angela Yee
So what is her.
Dr. Umar
Same day as Martin Delaney, grandfather, Pan Africanist.
Angela Yee
You said when she gets out of her mother's house. So, like, normally at that age, kids are like college or like. Like, what is she doing? Like, why is she.
Dr. Umar
I haven't spoken with her.
Angela Yee
Okay?
Dr. Umar
I want to see her face to face. And I told her that I don't want to do a bunch of phone calls. You feel me? You said all this on the Internet, face to face.
Angela Yee
Your father and you said you want her mom in that meeting when y' all do.
Dr. Umar
I would have liked to, but she don't have to be. See, I know the mother. The purpose of the mom was to clarify the history.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Dr. Umar
You feel me? I want her mom to tell me to my face. I never tried to be in my. I want her to say that to my face. Right? That was only for the history. Mom ain't gonna do that because mom know I'm gonna expose her. So forget Mom. I don't mean that disrespectfully.
Charlamagne Tha God
Right.
Angela Yee
I get what you mean.
Dr. Umar
I'm just saying it's for me and my daughter. She 24. She will be, God willing. It's time for us to do what we got to do.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, I wanna. I wanna end on this note, Dr. Umar. Cause I always think people give you a lot of flack. One thing they keep can't say about you, you love black people.
Dr. Umar
And I'm consistent.
Charlamagne Tha God
You, I never.
Dr. Umar
Oh, we ain't even talk about the FBA ADOs thing. Maybe next time.
DJ Envy
Next time.
Dr. Umar
Okay? But if anybody got to reach me. 215-989-9858. That's 215-989-9858. And if you need to email me. Prince of Panafricanism. Gmail.com. we spell Africa with a K, not a c. Prince of panafricanismmail.com Spell Africa with a K. Black power.
DJ Envy
Well, ladies and gentlemen,
Dr. Umar
appreciate y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
DJ Envy
It's the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning.
DJ Envy
Let's get right to the latest.
Angela Yee
Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everything. The little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you.
Mimi Brown
Take me through that.
Angela Yee
Take me through that. Where's she going?
Dr. Umar
The lady this with
Charlamagne Tha God
on the Breakfast Club. Ll talk to me.
Angela Yee
All right, guys. So at the. Oh, then what was it? Friday. Last weekend, as we ended the show, there was something that was circulating online. There were some photos of Tyler Perry with Marlo Hampton, formerly of Real Housewives of Atlanta. And people thought that this was a new couple alert. So, uh, they. There were these photos that were circulating. It was a photo that was supposed to be real, but it was not real. Was an AI Doctored photo of Tyler Perry holding Marlo Hampton in his arms and kissing her. This photo was not fast. Yes. Now, here's the thing. I think this AI photo got a lot of people. Like, people really believed it. There were outlets reporting that they were spotted together at this brunch, and that is this a new couple seen together.
Lauren LaRosa
I literally just thought it was a movie. Like, that they were promoting a movie.
Angela Yee
Yeah, I saw some people say promoting the movie. I saw, like, some people say that's just what happens in Atlanta. But no, the original photo was shot by Freddy O. Photographer Freddy O. This was the original photo, was his doctor. They were at a brunch. Jason Lee invited Tyler Perry there. That was Tyler Perry's first time ever even meeting Marlo. So they're not dating.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just why they do a picture of Tyler and Jason Lee kissing? Why they had. Why they do Tyler. Jason Lee was sitting right there to Tyler's left. Yeah, it was Tyler.
Lauren LaRosa
Was him.
Charlamagne Tha God
Marlow was on the right. Jason drop on a Goosebumps for Jason Lee.
Angela Yee
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
Jason Lee be everywhere. Y' all ain't never there. But how come. Why they didn't do that?
Angela Yee
I. I don't know. I. I have no idea. But she. Marlo posted these photos on her Instagram, and they just went crazy. And people were literally reporting this as if this was a new cup over alert.
Charlamagne Tha God
That picture and that picture of Justin Bieber and Usher arguing that had y' all in a chokehold.
Dr. Umar
This weekend?
Angela Yee
Yeah, that's not real. That's not real either. All right, well, something that is real. Over the weekend, the Justin Timberlake body cam was released. So remember I told you guys that you. Justin Timberlake was suing the Sag Harbor Police Department in New York because he wanted the body cam to not come out. Well, on Friday, late Friday was announced that they came to some sort of agreement where the body cam would be redacted, but it would be released. And it was.
DJ Envy
What does that mean?
Angela Yee
So basically they were worried about like some of his personal details being put out there because he's Justin Timberlake. Cuz sometimes in body cam, if it's released, if you just get a police record, you might get information about addresses, like stuff like that, so that it was released. There's a lot of footage from his sobriety test to actually when he's detained. Now let's take a listen to Justin Timberlake failing his sobriety test. Audio 1.
Dr. Umar
Okay, so left foot on the line
DJ Envy
and then you're gonna put your right
Charlamagne Tha God
foot in front of your left stage. Just like that.
Dr. Umar
Guys, I'm just.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm just following my friends back to my house. I'm not like, I'm not doing anything.
Dr. Umar
I'm just.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay, back to my house.
DJ Envy
What?
Charlamagne Tha God
Will you do this test?
DJ Envy
Sure.
Lauren LaRosa
Sorry, I've never done this.
DJ Envy
So I'm just mimic him here.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ready?
Lauren LaRosa
I'm a little nervous.
Charlamagne Tha God
Left, right foot in front when you do this test.
Mimi Brown
Sorry.
DJ Envy
My heart is racing. By the way, these are like.
Lauren LaRosa
These are like really hard tests.
Charlamagne Tha God
Who knew Justin Timberlake sounded like Michael Jackson at any moment.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
So did he moonwalk on his sobriety test?
Angela Yee
He could barely get through. Yeah, if he would have been dancing, it would have been bad because he could barely get through the. The walking that they had him doing. Now during the test, he asked if his friend could just drive his car back and basically like all be well. I won't have to drive. Just let her drive it. And they're like, no. So the friend, that's a woman, she comes up and she tries to talk to police because at this point he's in custody and she's just trying to get him his phone. Let's take a listen to Justin Timberlake's friend.
DJ Envy
We have to make sure that your friend here is okay to drive.
Angela Yee
Can I just drive?
DJ Envy
Well, he was already operating the vehicle,
Charlamagne Tha God
so we need to make sure that he's okay. He wasn't operating the vehicle under any kind of impairment.
DJ Envy
So at this point he's Coming with us. Okay. No, he's not. Yes.
Lauren LaRosa
No.
Angela Yee
Why? Stop it.
DJ Envy
Don't say it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Lauren LaRosa
Stop it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes. What?
Lauren LaRosa
Can you guys please just do me a favor? Cuz you loved.
DJ Envy
Bye Bye Bye.
Angela Yee
Do me one favor.
DJ Envy
Let me ask him if he wants me to give him his phone.
Lauren LaRosa
Was she drunk too?
Angela Yee
I listen. They didn't. They let her go. And in the audio, like in the video, the police is saying to her, like, you seem okay, you can drive your car home. But no, but I. I thought. I didn't know if she was too. Not under the influence. But I don't know. They didn't test her.
Lauren LaRosa
Is crazy.
DJ Envy
No, you're not.
Lauren LaRosa
You cannot. I know you love.
Charlamagne Tha God
Bye Bye.
Lauren LaRosa
Bye.
Angela Yee
Bye.
Charlamagne Tha God
Bye.
Angela Yee
Bye.
Charlamagne Tha God
Can I say something that y' all should know? Friends don't let friends drive drunk. Okay? It's pointless to try to take the wheel after the fact. All right? You shouldn't let him drive to begin with.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you cared about him so much. Do you love. Bye Bye Bye. Clearly you don't love sexy back that much to let him drive in that condition.
Angela Yee
Hello. And then there was one point where he's actually in custody and they're booking him.
DJ Envy
Right.
Angela Yee
And you know, they give you the paperwork, you gotta go through, verify everything is right. Right, right. So he's looking at the paperwork and he's confused a bit. Go ahead, let's listen. Take a listen. Number three,
DJ Envy
white. I'm just kidding.
Angela Yee
I'm just kidding, man.
Dr. Umar
Legend.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you're being held for the night
DJ Envy
and then in the morning is the uranium.
Charlamagne Tha God
So in the morning, usually around 9:30,
Angela Yee
being held all night.
Charlamagne Tha God
It might not be this one. You might be over at the other one and they actually have blankets for you. Wow, man.
Angela Yee
Guys, I don't mean no harm.
DJ Envy
Like, I understand.
Charlamagne Tha God
We believe you to be under the
DJ Envy
influence of alcohol and operating in motor vehicle.
Dr. Umar
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, But I don't mean to harm.
DJ Envy
I didn't say you did. Right. Everyone makes a mistake or two in their life right?
Charlamagne Tha God
Now there's a lot of ways to take that.
DJ Envy
Right?
Charlamagne Tha God
He looked at the paper and he goes white. I'm just joking. I'm just kidding. Now, it's a lot of ways to take that. Right? Okay, break it down, break it down. It could be that, you know, know Justin Timberlake loves black people so much that in his mind he's black. Right. Especially when he gets drunk.
DJ Envy
When he's drunk.
Charlamagne Tha God
Or he could be like, white. I'm just kidding. There's no way I could be white. And y' all treat me like this. There's no way I could be white and y' all treating me like that. Really gotta. I have to stay tonight. A white, rich, privileged man.
DJ Envy
Really? But he said he gets a blankie. They said when you go to the other jail, he gets a blankie.
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, I'm going.
Angela Yee
I couldn't believe where he was. About to sleep back. He was like, here.
DJ Envy
Here.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Kidding.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. That's hilarious.
Angela Yee
Yeah. So, I mean, when all this happened. We're seeing the body cam now, but just a reminder for what the final judgment on this was. He did cut a deal. He pled guilty to a lesser charge that did not involve drunk driving or even a criminal offense. He cra. Copped to a traffic violation and got off with slap on the wrist. Remember, he had to make that statement. It was some sort of plea deal situation that they came.
DJ Envy
So he was driving drunk, he failed the test, and they dropped the dui.
Angela Yee
Yep. He cut a deal. And this is just coming out now because, you know, people were requesting it, but he. He made a whole statement following it some months ago talking about how bad it is to drink and drive, so. Well, sorry, that was my computer. That's the latest.
Lauren LaRosa
Timberlake
DJ Envy
should have shout out his lawyer for doing all that.
Lauren LaRosa
I did not know his voice was like that. Even though.
Charlamagne Tha God
But, you know.
Lauren LaRosa
Stop.
DJ Envy
All right, Charlamagne. Who giving your donkey?
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, speaking of white privilege. Four after the hour. We need President Trump to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with him. He needs to get his monthly donkey.
DJ Envy
Okay. All right, we'll get to that next. So don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Donald J. Trump is calling for a
Charlamagne Tha God
total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.
DJ Envy
Wouldn't you love to see one of
Charlamagne Tha God
these NFL owners when somebody disrespects our
DJ Envy
flag to say, get that son of a off the field right now.
Charlamagne Tha God
Out.
DJ Envy
He's fired.
Dr. Umar
He's fired. Please step up to the congregation.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, you are.
DJ Envy
When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're raping.
Dr. Umar
He's a jackass.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes. Donkey. Today for Monday, March 23, goes to the 47th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump. Let me tell you something I've been telling y' all all morning. Morning. That I was listening to Sarah Jake Roberts sermon from last Sunday titled God Still Cares. Dropping a clues bomb for Sarah Jake Roberts then. And she talks about Compassion collapse, also known as compassion fatigue. And compassion collapse is where people begin to feel less empathy, okay? The greater the scale of the trauma. All right? And she challenges us to fight becoming numb to headlines. She challenges us to remain sensitive to both, both personal and global needs. The reason I'm bringing that up is because it's true. Compassion collapse, compassion fatigue is absolutely a real thing. And we have become desensitized to so much. It's too much going on in the world. It's so much going on, and they want us to care for everything, but then you end up caring for nothing. Okay? The economy is messed up. People ain't got no job. It's media is falling out the sky, ice at the airports. If I work for tsa, I'm not getting paid. We at war with Iran. It's just too much going on in the world, okay? Plus, just whatever you got going on personally. But that can't make us numb to the wrong that is happening on this planet every day on all levels, okay? And what happened this weekend was wrong. See, former FBI Director Robert Mueller passed away. He was 81 years old. Rest in peace to him. And as a special counsel, Robert Mueller probed Trump in his 2016 campaign as the leader of the Russian investigation during Trump's first term. So, you know, Trump don't like Robin Mueller, so I didn't expect him to have anything nice to say about Robert Mueller after he passed, but I damn sure didn't expect him to say this. I don't know why we're still surprised by anything that comes out of his mouth. But let's go to ABC News for the report.
DJ Envy
Please, a few words about Robert Mueller. Mueller, who died yesterday, is known by many as the man behind the Mueller report, which, of course looked into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He also led the FBI for more than a decade, guiding America through the perilous period after the September 11th attack. But what perhaps some don't know about Robert Mueller is that he was a genuine war hero during a time when many of his peers were trying to avoid military service. He volunteered joining the Marines after his college roommate was killed in Vietnam. Muller served for more than a year in combat in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart after he was shot in the leg. And he was awarded multiple times for valor, including a Bronze Star and a Navy Commendation Medal. Donald Trump reacted to the news of his death by posting this just minutes after it was announced. Quote, robert Mueller just died.
Dr. Umar
Good.
DJ Envy
I'm glad he's dead. That's a remarkable statement for Anybody to make, especially a President of the United States.
Charlamagne Tha God
Listen, he's keeping that same energy, okay? If he didn't like you when you were alive, no need to pretend when you're dead. Okay, I get it. But here's the thing. I don't have to tell you everything everyone else has already told you about this not being presidential. I hate when people say Trump is not presidential. Why would he be? He's the former executive producer of Celebrity Apprentice, okay? Reality show star turned president. All right, whatever. All right, I'm not even gonna get into the hypocrisy of saying something like this, but then being upset about the people who mocked the death of Charlie Kirk. But listen to what he said, though. Listen to what he said about that.
Lauren LaRosa
Have you asked to start with voting
Angela Yee
the visas of the foreigners who have celebrated?
DJ Envy
No, we haven't.
Dr. Umar
We haven't, but we are looking at names.
DJ Envy
We don't like that.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's not right.
DJ Envy
We wouldn't celebrate if something happened on
Charlamagne Tha God
this, and we don't.
DJ Envy
These are sick people. These are really deranged people.
Charlamagne Tha God
What I'm going to say, and the reason he's getting donkey today is because if you know, you, Donald Trump, care about legacy as much as you claim to, boy, you are really ruining yours. I mean, you've already ruined yours because you're, you know, going to go down as the worst president of all time because you don't give a damn about democracy, okay? Wiping your ass with the Constitution and on pace to lead this country into the worst financial crisis of all time. But you are also, okay, putting yourself into a position that when you pass, people are going to treat it like Mardi Gras in New Orleans, okay? The celebrations, folks are going to have, okay? The things people are going to say about you when you pass. Mr. President, I don't care about how many buildings you put your name on, on bridges, tunnels, they can create holidays. None of that will matter because you have hurt way too many people. And more importantly, you get back the energy you put out. Do you care. Do you care what Baron sees about you after you. After you pass? Do you care what Melania sees about you after you pass? What about your grandkids? I know that CNN just posted a report that said you have a hundred percent approval rating amongst MAGA Republicans, a hundred percent of MAGA Republicans, according to cnn, and approve of the job you're doing. Let me tell you something, man. I live in the real world and I know people who have voted for Trump three times and they are not Happy with the job you're doing. So somebody lying. Okay, cnn, I know Skydance just bought y' all and all of y' all trying to save your jobs, but let me be the first to tell you, most of y' all getting fired anyway, so please go out with some integrity. That was ridiculous. And it's polls like that that feed Trump's ego, okay? It's people around him like that telling him everything he does is great. So much so that he's probably not even aware care of the parade people are going to throw when he passes away. Okay? If you think Donald Trump's tasteless tweet towards Robert Mueller was something, wait until you see social media when Trump passes, okay? The energy that you put out comes back to you. Eckhart Tolle. Everything is energy, and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. That's Albert Einstein, comma, comma, comma, comes back to you hard. God, that's Lauryn Hill. My point is, President Trump, you are teaching people how to treat you by how you treat others. And we as a society should let. Shouldn't let any of this become so normalized that we don't take the time to simply say it's wrong. Please give President Donald J. Trump the biggest he hopes. I know it's a lot going on in the world, and people are desensitized to everything. And, you know, when you got to care about everything, you know, you end up caring about nothing. But some things, you should just take the time to say, hey, young world, this is wrong.
Lauren LaRosa
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
This is one of those things.
DJ Envy
All right, well, thank you for that donkey of the day. Now, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. So President Trump said he is sending U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to agents to airports today.
Charlamagne Tha God
Another thing we got to care about.
DJ Envy
That's right. He's sending ICE agents to the airports today to help TSA workers. A lot of TSA workers are calling out after missing paychecks. They have to find other means to pay their rent away.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's the only help TSA needs, and that's the only help TSA wants. They money.
DJ Envy
Their money, their bread that's owed to them. So we're asking, 800-585-1051, what are your thoughts? The fact that Trump is sending ICE agents to, quote, unquote, help TSA workers.
Charlamagne Tha God
I wonder if you. Are you scared? You know, if you got a fly, this Week. Are you. Is there. You have. You have anxiety about this? Like, what is it? I wonder?
DJ Envy
You know? You know, my other question is, too, because ICE agents carry. Will they be carrying in the airport?
Charlamagne Tha God
Of course they have to.
DJ Envy
I mean, yeah, that's scary as f.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just like police carry in the airport. Just like military personnel carrying the airport. Yes, they will be carrying in the airport.
Lauren LaRosa
It's the fact that they're going to be profiling people, you know, just prolonging. They're not. I don't. I don't see them caring about people actually having to get to where they need to go. TSA is already stressed out, and so y' all coming in here to make our jobs easier. Y' all think we still are getting paid.
DJ Envy
That's crazy. 800-585-1051. Let's discuss this. The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's topic time.
Dr. Umar
Call 800-585-1051 to join into the discussion with the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
Morning, everybody. Hello, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now, if you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Now, Donald Trump says he is sending ICE agents to help TSA workers starting today. So because of the shutdown, a lot of TSA workers are calling out. That's because they're missing their paychecks. They gotta find other means to make sure they pay their rent, to pay for childcare and food. But Donald Trump says, I got you. I got the ICE workers to come to the airport to help you guys out. What are your thoughts? I think this is the dumbest thing ever.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I think.
DJ Envy
I think it's the dumbest thing ever. I mean, you see what ICE agents, a lot of them have done already. Abuse of power. They have their weapons. Do I want their abuse of power? And with their weapons at the airport, checking my id, telling me what they think is in my bag. Nope, Telling. Trying to pronounce my last name and saying, where am I from? I don't think so.
Lauren LaRosa
Just profiling you. Yep. And then for the TSA workers, it's like another slap in their face, like, yo, you're gonna send more people to help us. Us. You know who, essentially, they're the reason that we're not getting paid. They're not. We're not getting paid. You're trying to raise more money to pay them, and you're sending them to the airport, make our jobs even harder. And we're still not getting paid.
DJ Envy
I said Charlemagne.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, I mean, you know, yeah, I think that, you know, the only help TSA agents need is their checks, their money, period. But you know what actually really saddens me about all this, man? I think it's sad watching our kids. Kids. Futures in this country disappear in real time. Like, they. They're. I don't. There's. There's no hope in sight. Like, where does this end? Because, you know, I keep hearing, you know, people talk about the midterm elections and, you know, get what's gonna happen when, you know, Democrats get back in power. Is this administration moving like an administration that's just going to concede power? Do you know what I'm saying? If they're putting ICE in airports, don't you think they're going to put ICE at all the polling places in the midterms? Is nobody really seeing what's going on, or can we only think for the moment? Can we think 10 steps ahead? Because we need to.
DJ Envy
Yeah. Well, let's go to the phone lines. We got Gio on the line. Gio, good morning.
Angela Yee
Good morning.
DJ Envy
Hey, where you calling from?
Angela Yee
I'm calling from Atlanta.
DJ Envy
Atlanta. What's your thoughts, mama?
Angela Yee
So I think it's kind of weird that he's using this as. I almost feel like it's an excuse to put more ICE agents, like, in certain cities while, like, I live in Atlanta. And I know we've had ICE around, but now I feel like that's, like using this shutdown and saying, oh, they're going to help TSA workers is just an excuse to pull them into these cities even more on a. Oh, well, we're there to help, not as if they're not there to do what ICE has been doing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, he's testing to see what he can get away with. You know, it's a litmus test about control, and I think it's a test to see. See, you know, what's gonna happen at the. In the midterms. Like, okay, if I can put them in the airport and get them used to this, you know, then once. Once I got them around. Once I got them around the polling places, you know, come November, nobody's gonna think anything of it.
DJ Envy
Trying to normalize it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
DJ Envy
Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
This car is calling out a new. How y' all doing?
DJ Envy
Talk to us.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning. Good morning.
DJ Envy
Yeah, I. I believe that this is a takeover.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know, not paying the TSA agent
DJ Envy
is, you know, demoralizes people, so they're gonna quit.
Dr. Umar
A lot of them.
DJ Envy
Not Getting fired.
Charlamagne Tha God
So, you know, the numbers start dwindling.
Dr. Umar
Now they move in homeland, so transportation
Charlamagne Tha God
is no longer in control.
DJ Envy
Homelands in control. So you take over the airports now you control who's coming in and who's coming out.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's all about control, period. You're not wrong, brother.
DJ Envy
Hello? Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yep, it's Dre.
DJ Envy
Dre, what's up? Where you calling, brother?
Dr. Umar
What's going on? I'm coming from north, man.
DJ Envy
Talk to us.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, this, this, you know, with Trump
Dr. Umar
sending the ICE agents over to the
Charlamagne Tha God
airports, man, I think it's the dumbest thing in the world. How are you sending ICE agents that
Dr. Umar
half of them haven't even been trained
Charlamagne Tha God
at the ICE agents. Now you send them to the airports
Dr. Umar
where they, they won't even get the
Charlamagne Tha God
proper training, you know, that TSA even have. So, like, what are we doing here? What are we doing here? These decisions that this guy's making, man, you ain't doing nothing but putting anybody harm's way.
Lauren LaRosa
That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
On purpose? Yeah, on purpose, Absolutely. Like, on purpose. Thank you, brother. Thank you, brother. Like, it makes it make no sense. Like these guys like tsa, they go
Dr. Umar
for training in Georgia for week and
Charlamagne Tha God
week and week learning how to read
Dr. Umar
these machines, learning how to detect what's coming through these machines, things of that nature.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you send these ICE agents over there who had none of this training. None of it.
DJ Envy
Yeah, 800.
Charlamagne Tha God
And I want to say too, it doesn't make it any better. You know, I was reading something that Mimi Brian posted last night. Like Project 2025 on page 159, it states verbatim, until it is privatized, TSA should be treated as a national security provider and this workforce should be de unionized immediately. So it talks, it talks about in Project 2025 how when it comes to TSA, they want to de unionize it.
DJ Envy
We know parents want to feel confident as their teens navigate social media. With Instagram teen accounts, teens get automatic protections by default. Teens between the ages of 13 to 17 are automatically put into a protective experience. That means they get built in content settings for what they see, contact limits on who can contact them, and time management tools like daily time limit reminders, as well as sleep mode, which mutes notifications from 10pm to 7am plus, teens under 16 need a parent's permission to change any of these settings to be less strict. Instagram continues to work on building new safety features to help create age appropriate experiences for teens. It's Lauren LaRosa. Okay, let's talk curls for a second. Cause you already know if you have curly or coily hair. Moisture is not optional, it's essential. Dryness is one of the biggest challenges for curly hair and most products products they clock out after wash day. The new Ultra Moisture collection was literally designed with our hair in mind. Curls, coils, all of it powered by Botano oil and Jamaican Black Castor oil. Which means the science is actually doing the work. Clinically proven to help retain moisture for up to five days. Five whole days. The shampoo gently cleanses without stripping. The mask deeply, conditions and helps reduce breakage. The leave in adds a lightweight hydration with hyaluronic acid. It and the curl cream defines without crunch. No sulfates, no parabens, no silicones, no mineral oils. Just nourishment without the compromise. Because here's the thing. Your hair deserves products that actually understand it. Moisture that starts at the root and keeps going. Well past Sunday, that's the Ultra Moisture Collection from Cantu Explore their full line built for every curl pattern, every hair routine available now at Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Go get it.
Dr. Umar
You've been working in the garage with your dad every week, Monday to Sunday, trying to get the old school up and running. Today, after all the hard work, y' all finally finished it. So you have that feeling of accomplishment. You did it. Then your dad throws you the keys and says those three magic words, all yours, son. Yep, that same car belonged to your grandpa. And that your dad helped him fix is yours. Three generations right there keeping the tradition alive. But if you ask dad to really keep the tradition going, you need to get insurance. And you already know you need to get State Farm. Because your agent, well, he gets tradition, too. His dad was an agent, his grandpa too. So he gets you. Generation to generation. Remember to choose the agents that your family counted on. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

If you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Now, the government shutdown is affecting air travel across the country. Thousands of TSA workers are calling out after missing paying checks. There's. They gotta make means. They gotta pay bills, mortgage, childcare, food. So Donald Trump said, I guess paying him wasn't an option. So he said, I'm gonna send ICE agents to the airports to help them out. And we're asking, what are your thoughts? 800-585-1051. Whitney? Yes. Good morning. Where you calling from? Whitney.
Lauren LaRosa
Morning.
Angela Yee
I'm from Philly, but I'm. Right now, I live in Harrisburg, so.
DJ Envy
All right, well, talk to us. What's your thoughts?
Angela Yee
My thoughts is I can't stand it, honestly. So down here in Harrisburg, they have
DJ Envy
ICE agents just randomly walking around.
Angela Yee
But I feel like the world thinks
DJ Envy
that they're just going to stop Mexicans
Charlamagne Tha God
or people that, like, look Mexican.
DJ Envy
No, they're going to stop black people, too. They randomly stop black people around here thinking that we're from, like, Africa or
Angela Yee
Nigeria or they just harass everybody, and
DJ Envy
it's gonna be worse.
Angela Yee
And I feel like it's gonna stop everybody from even just traveling. I wanted to take my kids to a Disney World vacation this summer. And I'm starting to rethink it.
DJ Envy
Like, I wanna just drive at this point so I can just eliminate the going through all that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Man, can you imagine what kind of hell you gonna catch if you go on vacation and then come back in the country? You know what I'm saying? Being black or being brown.
DJ Envy
You know, it's funny, I was talking to my wife about this the other day. We were talking about vacation and I was like, like, I don't know if I feel comfortable leaving and trying to get back. Like just going through that process. It just seems like a lot. And then a lot of the areas just doesn't seem like it's, it's safe right now.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. And then it can be very traumatizing to your kids, too. You never know what you're gonna run into in the airports now.
DJ Envy
Yeah, but I ain't driving to Florida. My dad used to drive to Florida. I was like, that's about 14, 16 hour drive. I hate those trips. I don't think I could.
Charlamagne Tha God
I used to hate those. Driving from South Carolina. My aunt, my. My mom's sister lives in Orlando. Lord have mercy.
DJ Envy
Oh, my gosh. I used to hate those trips. Hello, who's this?
Angela Yee
Good morning. This is Pam.
DJ Envy
Hey, Pam. Where you calling from, Pam?
Angela Yee
I'm calling from Jacksonville. It's Pam with the T. Oh, Tam.
DJ Envy
I'm sorry, Tam. What's your thoughts, Mama?
Angela Yee
My thoughts is it depends on how they're going to be used. First of all, because they're, they're only trained to deal with deportation. If they're just going to be doing security, I think it'll be fine. But if they start running like the TSA scanners and things like that, I think it's going to be a big disaster. And I believe they're going to do a lot of racial profile.
Charlamagne Tha God
Can ask you a question, ma'?
DJ Envy
Am?
Charlamagne Tha God
How can you.
Angela Yee
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
How can you see how they moved in Minnesota and think that it's going to be fine at the airport?
Angela Yee
I tried to start off positive because I really only had negative, negative ideas. But I did try to start off positive.
DJ Envy
But I do believe it's going to be a big disaster and it's going
Angela Yee
to be a lot of racial profiling.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay. We don't need, there's no need to, you know, put any sprinkles on. It's okay to be honest about this situation, man.
DJ Envy
Thank you, Mama.
Angela Yee
Are you welcome?
Dr. Umar
All right.
DJ Envy
Well, what's the moral of the story, if there is a moral?
Charlamagne Tha God
The moral of the story to Me, man, is the scariest thing about this situation is that this is really organized chaos. Like, you know, Project 2025 shows you plain as day on page 159 that until it is privatized, TSA should be treated as a national security provider and his workforce should be de unionized immediately. It says the unionized defunded and replaced with a form of ice.
DJ Envy
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So this is a plan. So this. This seems like it's just, you know, something he's just did on the fly. It's like, no, this is organized strategic chaos.
Angela Yee
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
So that should prompt people to go read the rest of Project 2025, because this ain't the only thing that's gonna come out the woodwork.
DJ Envy
And I will tell people, if you do have to fly, give yourself myself a lot of extra time. Those airports are crazy.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, no hours. Yes.
DJ Envy
I've been traveling four or five hours, and I have pretty much everything. I have touch list, I have a pre check, I have. You name it, I have it, and it gets me through the airports free fast, I should say. But if you don't, you will be waiting outside. And if you have bags to check, it's going to take a long time. So please give yourself extra time. If you got a fly to LaGuardia today. I think LaGuardia shut down to 2pm because of that accident. So. So give yourself a lot of extra time. Don't try to wait till the last minute. Cause nobody cares when you. When you're about to miss your flight.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. And also they. They stop clear. Like, I don't know if it's like forever, but they taking clear out of certain airports, too, so. Really? Yeah, it's just gonna be like priority line, pre check and standard. I don't know why. Like, it's. It was like that laguardia didn't have clear on Friday. GSO didn't have clear on Sunday. With me coming back back, it was a lot.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wow.
Lauren LaRosa
So.
DJ Envy
All right, well, when we come back, we got the latest with Lauren, so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Lauren LaRosa
Lauren becoming a straight face.
DJ Envy
She gets it from somebody that knows somebody.
Angela Yee
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
She'd be having the latest on the
Dr. Umar
Beast, the Latest with Lauren LaRosa.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sometimes you have facts, Sometimes you have details. Sometimes you have a little bit everything.
DJ Envy
Who is the latest who?
Dr. Umar
Brought to you by Top Dog Law on the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Talk to me.
Angela Yee
All right, guys, so really quickly, I wanted to send a rest in peace to Chuck Norris. So it was announced late Friday that he had passed away. Chuck Norris is known for playing Texas, Texas Ranger Cordell Walker in the CBS TV show Texas Ranger from the 90s. Yes. And, you know, he's known as a black belt. You know, he excelled in several martial arts arts genres. But he also, you know, has just become like a very big, well known face in pop culture and television over the years, even though he's kind of took a step back. But it was announced that, that he passed away in Hawaii. His family released a statement via his social media saying that he had passed away with his family surrounding him. And they mentioned in the statement that they know a lot of people have heard about a recent hospitalization that happened with him, uh, because earlier that week, uh, it was reported that he was hospitalized in Hawaii. No one knew why, but it seemed like it came sudden. And his family said that his passing was sudden. So they're just asking for privacy and prayers at this time. And they did thank everybody for sending prayers and for everyone who reached out when they heard about the hospitalization. So, you know, I wanted to take some time to say rest in peace.
DJ Envy
Rest in peace to Chuck Norris.
Angela Yee
Yes. And switching Gears Charlemagne was all over the timeline. This weekend we saw you at NASCAR with Raja Carruth, who had the Black Affair Effect car wrapped on the track
Charlamagne Tha God
response to the the Good Brother Roger Carus number 32 car this weekend at Darlington Raceway. So, yeah, it was, it was a. Man, there's a stigma around nascar, right? Because honestly, I just didn't think it was a lot of black people in nascar, but there's a lot of.
DJ Envy
Really?
Charlamagne Tha God
People in nascar. Yes, man. The people that, you know, work the pit crew and the engineers and like, you know, the heads of security and of course, you know, you know, people like Raja Karuf and Bubba Wallace. But you got guys like my man Lavar Scott. He was driving in the race as well. He's a brother, man. And just. Yeah. Salute to everybody at nascar. Salute to Jordan Allen. Salute to Jordan Letterman. I had a fantastic time at Darlington Raceway with NASCAR this weekend.
DJ Envy
Dope.
Angela Yee
Yeah, that's fire. And I saw Michael Jordan made his three as as well, too, over the weekend.
Charlamagne Tha God
He wins too much in life. I mean, gosh.
DJ Envy
But he wasn't winning for a long time in nascar. It seemed like his cause came around.
Charlamagne Tha God
Last four out of six in the
DJ Envy
last year, he's been winning, like, a lot. But before that it was, it was heartbreaking for him. But now he's been winning a Lot. Did you see Michael Jordan?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, he was there Sunday. I was there Saturday.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Angela Yee
Okay. Yeah, but yeah, shout out to him as well too. But I thought it was so fire. I saw all of the NASCAR pages and stuff, reposting you guys as well.
DJ Envy
So that's dope.
Angela Yee
Yes, Congratulations. Now some other big news that's going down. So you guys remember when we had Jabari here who is a senior editor at Forbes.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Angela Yee
And he was telling us about just some of the, the, you know, Forbes black billionaires list that were coming out and an interview that he was doing with Usher. Right. So Usher and Big Sean have teamed up and they have this whole huge boys and girls club that they're doing in Detroit. This is Usher's not first time he's done it in Atlanta, but this one focuses so much on arts and entertainment and they're putting in a million dollars to make sure that, you know, this facility gets what it needs. So they sat down for an interview and they have a conversation about why only a million dollars. Let's take a listen.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know, we're here in Detroit and it's a 1 million investment that you
DJ Envy
and Big Sean through your foundation and we're just getting started.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Well, why not more money, right? Why a million and why not more?
DJ Envy
Because I want to instigate the world to understand that this is a seed investment and I want their support. Right. It is not just my efforts, it is the ability of the state, city and entrepreneurs like minded with the interest of investing in the resource that we have here. Our youth are embedded in the community and we don't want them to leave. We want them to have access to the tools that they can grow. You know, my goal ultimately would be to have over 500 boys and girls club adopt this concept and idea of innovation centers, of spark labs, of disruptivator clubs, of entertainment environments where kids can find their way to something that's personally of interest. Why just a million dollars? That is a crazy question.
Charlamagne Tha God
What is Jabari talking about? Do you know how much a million dollars is?
DJ Envy
Why just a million million?
Charlamagne Tha God
That sounds crazy. Yes, more is always better. But a million is damn good.
DJ Envy
100,000 is good. 500,000 is good.
Angela Yee
50,000 and it's a, it's a hundred million. It's a million dollars each. So it's 2 million total, but a million dollars each. So Usher and Big Sean right. Now the facility opened back in February and if you go to like the Forbes article or the interview, Usher's Instagram and they take you on, like, a visual tour of the Boys and Girls Club. It is so fire. They have, like, this one part of the Boys and Girls Club where, like, the girls and the guys who are into fashion, they literally have like a whole whole studio and they get the. Like, they're actually in there designing and producing. There's, you know, AI Music labs. Like, I'm like, yo, if I grew up with something like this, like, the resources that are just right there is fire. But, yeah, so that. That conversation is in full@forbes.com. yeah, shout out to them and Big Sean.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, yeah.
DJ Envy
Yes is a lot of money, by the way.
Charlamagne Tha God
A lot of money.
Angela Yee
Jabari, you gotta tell me. And I think it's. I think too, the conversation is good to ignite other people like Usher's talking about. Because. Because think about how many other celebrities could match what he has going on easily, right? I mean, but if I throw a little.
DJ Envy
If I throw a little 20,000 out, I'm gonna feel like, damn, that's not enough.
Angela Yee
20,000 is a lot of money.
Charlamagne Tha God
I like how you said little 20,000.
DJ Envy
They made it seem like my little
Charlamagne Tha God
20s won't be at little 20.
DJ Envy
Yeah, they said a million ain't enough.
Angela Yee
Well, yes. Well, shout out to them. Okay, now, in other news, Brandy. So it was a nine. Announced that Brandi will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yeah. So this is gonna happen like she
DJ Envy
should have been had that.
Angela Yee
Yes, this is gonna happen on March 30th. It'll be recognizing her 30 year career in music, film and television. It'll be, you know, on the Walk of Fame. And the speakers that are slated right now include Issa Rae and Babyface. So, you know, that'll be something to watch.
Charlamagne Tha God
What about Willie Ray Norwood Jr. III?
Angela Yee
Ray J.
Charlamagne Tha God
You got to let Ray J song. No, you have to let Ray J give us more words.
Lauren LaRosa
He gonna have some more.
Angela Yee
And I. I love Ray J, but no, not there.
Charlamagne Tha God
Either let Ray J give his speech there or he gonna do it on Instagram live. What would you rather? Listen, what would you rather?
DJ Envy
I just want to let you know, just 28 seconds ago, Ray J just posted my bad. This apology is for Brandy. For you, Only you. And out of you. I was out of pocket. No spin, no extras. You are my blood. And I moved in a way that didn't reflect your brand in a positive way. I apologize.
Charlamagne Tha God
For real. He need that. Cause he want that invite to the Hollywood.
Angela Yee
Hollywood Walk of Fame invited, but he needs to just be there and support.
DJ Envy
Yo, the last Line. Hopefully I can be a part of your world in the future. And to my mom and dad, I apologize, too.
Angela Yee
Yes. So, yeah, congratulations to Brandy, and I'm sure Ray J will be there, but hopefully, congratulations. Yes. Well, we got time for one more now. Okay. Well, taking it on, keeping it in the vein of women in music. Candy Burt announced over the weekend that she is going to be doing a one woman like, play, like, something theatrical. It literally sold out in minutes when she announced the tickets were on sale. I saw Todd, her now estranged husband, congratulate her on the play. Now, the play is supposed to be about their divorce situation, their relationship, and how she arrived to where we see her now because she says she wants to tell her own story. She sat down with big Tigger on V103 in Atlanta and talked about why she wants to tell her own story. Let's take a listen. Why did you feel like you had to tell everybody that you were going through this, that, and the third or every step in the process of.
Lauren LaRosa
Of your divorce? Well, the thing is, I wanted to seal our divorce.
Angela Yee
Meaning, like, seal our paperwork so every time something was filed, it wouldn't be public.
Charlamagne Tha God
Right.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Angela Yee
Yeah. They on the other side chose not to. So for me, it's like every time something is filed, then the bloggers get it, the people are talking about it, and they're able to say what they want about, create their own story from whatever is filed. Yeah. So the. The One woman show is called I do. I did. I'm done. And it's going to be in Atlanta at the City Winery, you know, so Candy, she just came off of Broadway for Aunt Juliet, so she's taking matters into her own hands to tell her own story.
Charlamagne Tha God
What did Todd say?
Lauren LaRosa
What was in his caption? I saw it. He said he posted it.
Angela Yee
Yeah, he posted it on his Instagram. And he said, yo, he put a million dollars.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why not more?
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, no, that's not what he put.
Angela Yee
No, he said. He said, your ass ain't done. Laugh out loud. Just kidding. Go support your girl Candy at city winery on April 27. I'd be so confused about their relationship and, like, where it stands today, but they doing what they got to do to get through it, it seems like so. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, I'm glad to see that he's supporting her.
Angela Yee
Yeah, me too.
Lauren LaRosa
Hopefully his ass be there.
Charlamagne Tha God

DJ Envy
You know it's a women's history month.
Charlamagne Tha God
It is.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay. I am repping today Clarice Precious Jones, played by Gabby Sidibe from the movie Precious. In the film Precious is a 16 year old girl growing up in Harlem in the 80s and she's navigating a lot of things. She's navigating extreme abuse, poverty and illiteracy. Having been raped by her father and physically and psychologically tortured by her mother. She also mothered two babies by her low down dirty ass father as well. And despite all these traumas, Precious still finds the strength through her inner fantasies. Like she, she, you can see throughout the movie like she just escapes in her own mind to get away from her reality. And a supportive alternative school where she finds, where she meets her classmates, who becomes her friends, the only friends that she have. And a nice teacher, Ms. Rain, who's played by Paula Patton. Yo. It's a lot of Preciouses out there. And when you have like, when you think you don't have anybody there to like help you out with life and you know, come to your, your need, come to your aid. When you're dealing with all these adversities, it is community out there, somebody that loves you. And that's why I love the movie. You know, she, she had a lot of adversity up against her, you know, but her social worker, her teacher and her, her friends who were her students became our friends and they helped her get through her, her crazy ass life. And Precious went on to be great. So you know, just, I honor that, but I honor the real Preciouses in the world.
DJ Envy
No doubt.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Because this movie was inspired by the, the, the real Precious is lives word. So we, we got like another week of this. That's it.
DJ Envy
That's it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
All right. Now also I got to remind you guys, if you haven't got your tickets, get your tickets to the Black Effect Podcast festival. It's going down in Atlanta, Pullman Yards. I'm hosting. Lawrence hosting. It's going to be a lot of fun, like a family reunion. Drink Champs is performing. Who else is performing?

And Carlos King, he'll be there with reality with the King. I think we're going to announce the guests that they have on their shows this week too. DJ Envy
Yeah, well, definitely get your tickets. It will sell out and you got a positive no shot.
Charlamagne Tha God
I do. And I just want to salute everybody at NASCAR again, man. Thank you for the hospitality this weekend. Salute to my guy, Roger Karuf and his father Roger. It was a pleasure to be able to, you know, sponsor his car this weekend for the O'Reilly race at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina. This weekend we have the Black Effect. You know, rap car, if you haven't seen it. But we're going to have the race simulator, Black Effect race Simulator at the Podcast Festival. So, man, salute to everybody. Jordan Allen and Jordan Letterman and just, just LaVar Scott, everybody. I saw this weekend at NASCAR. Thank you for the hospitality. I really enjoyed myself, man. But the positive note is simply this. Be mindful of what you react to. Not everything deserves your energy or your time. Keep your vibration high and be a source of light instead. Have a great day.
DJ Envy
Breakfast club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wake you up.

Topping the bill is a two-parter: exclusive audio from J. Cole’s discussions about his apology to Kendrick Lamar (and the Dreamville Fest), industry beef with Drake and Kendrick, and his squashed lawsuit with Cam’ron, plus an in-depth and typically unapologetic conversation with Dr. Umar Johnson about his school, black empowerment, politics, and more.
The episode moves fluidly between lighter cultural notes (concert anecdotes, shoutouts), current affairs (TSA shutdown, Iran, local news monopolies), celebrity news, and listener call-ins, offering both energy and substance for fans who missed the full broadcast.
“Be mindful of what you react to. Not everything deserves your energy or your time. Keep your vibration high and be a source of light instead.” — Charlamagne Tha God ([118:38])
