Angela Yee
Just hilarious.
Lauren LaRosa
Wake that ass up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Charlemagne the God, Peace to the planet. It's. Hey, good morning. How y' all feel out there? I feel blessed, black and highly favored. Happy to be here another day to serve our beautiful listeners. Good morning, man. Yes. This Monday. Want to be here, because we do.
Lauren LaRosa
I feel like, yes, I want to be here. And, oh, my God, I do not want the Lord to strike me down. Guess what I just found out, y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, my gosh. Jesus father name was John. Did not know that, you know, And I did not grow up. For real. Nobody talks about his earthly father like that. I didn't know I was really going back and forth with my husband and Chris. I ain't know Chris knew. I'm like, what are you talking about?
Angela Yee
Who is John?
Lauren LaRosa
And he, like, John the Baptist. That was Jesus father. Like, you know, that was his earthly father. And I'm like, no, God put the baby in Mary. You know, they didn't. They weren't. He wasn't conceived regularly like we conceived babies, you know what I'm saying? So I didn't know he had no other father. All I know is just, you know, God, Jesus Christ.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, it was three chipmunks, too. It was Alvin.
Lauren LaRosa
No, you know, that
Charlamagne Tha God
was a reindeer.
Lauren LaRosa
We all are clowns.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm just saying. Santa Claus got a stomach, too. First of all, he looks down and can't see his penis every morning.
Angela Yee
You're an idiot, Larry.
Lauren LaRosa
No, I'm. I didn't know that. So sorry, Lord.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, congratulations.
DJ Envy
Well, salute.
Angela Yee
Salute to everybody I seen in Miami yesterday. A best friend of mine, you know him, Charlemagne. Danny. Danny. I mean, I met Danny probably about 2002, and he was riding. He's been riding with me since. So he got married over the weekend. A beautiful. I love weddings. It's just positivity is just, you know, alcohol. It's just dancing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Of course it was alcohol. That's all I Remember about Danny, first of all, does Danny still drink heavily? He doesn't.
Angela Yee
But last night during the ceremony, as they were walking down the aisle, before they did, they had a shot, shot, shot part. And during the ceremony, they gave everybody, like, the little shots of tequila before he got smoked.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's all I think about. All I'm imagining Danny with a big bottle of Patron in his head. Because when we used to go out back in the day, that's what he used to do. He used to just drank Patron to the face.
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, they took a shot before they said their vows, before they walked down the aisle.
Angela Yee
For real?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes. Dope.
Angela Yee
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
To each his own. Congratulations.
DJ Envy
Sure did.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Did he go off script?
Lauren LaRosa
Did it feel like he went off script?
Angela Yee
Nah, nah. It was playing. And they read their own vows, and it was just beautiful. The weather was perfect. It wasn't too hot. It wasn't too breezy. It was just an amazing, amazing day. So salute to Danny and Emily. Congratulations on your marriage. That's beautiful.
Charlamagne Tha God
I went to go see Hoppers this weekend. Man, I see you at the theaters. My, my, my. My wife wanted to take the girls to go see Hoppers. Hoppers is a new movie from Disney Pixar, and it is amazing.
Lauren LaRosa
Nice.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay. It is amazing. It makes you want to recycle. It's about a young woman named Mabel. And Mabel just loves nature. And, I mean, I'm not giving no more the movie away, but she loves nature. Like, really, really, really, really loves nature in a real way. And it's a dope movie because it just is just a reminder that, you know, we as humans in this Earth, we're all just one entity, and we don't act like that. And the way you treat the Earth is really, you know, how you treat yourself and how you treat other people. Because the Earth is a living organism as well, Right? Absolutely. So if you don't respect the earth, you really don't respect yourself or other people. But Mabel really respects the Earth.
Angela Yee
Because when I, you know. When you were a kid. Well, I don't know if you guys did, but I kind of feel like the earth was our garbage disposal. You just throw things out the car. I never felt like the hell out of me.
Lauren LaRosa
I threw anything out the car.
Charlamagne Tha God
I learned not to litter very young. I learned not to litter very, very young. I never fel.
Lauren LaRosa
Never. That might. That's probably a queen's thing, but we never did that.
Charlamagne Tha God
I even felt like when I used to pee outside. You know what I'm saying? Growing up in the Country Mosquito, South Carolina. I was giving back to the earth. We are one. That's why I don't understand all the people that like to tear down these forests to build all these franchises, okay? Cause you need, you know, trees. There's this thing called photosynthesis, okay? We all need each other here on this planet.
Lauren LaRosa
And you think dirty ass peeing outside was great. That was something you giving back to the earth.
Charlamagne Tha God
Listen, she'll Google that, and then she'll come in the radio and say it two weeks later. Guess what I learned, y'? All.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, Tell me right now.
Charlamagne Tha God
Fertilizer.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, so you. You. So we. Everybody should just go pee outside to get back to the earth. And fertilizer.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you do, it's fertilizer.
Angela Yee
Yes, I'm sorry.
Charlamagne Tha God
It does help.
Angela Yee
All right, let's get the show cracking. Jim and Terry Lewis, the icons, the legends will be joining us.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, my God.
Angela Yee
Producers right as you know them, from everybody from Michael Jackson to Janet Jackson to Usher, just to name a few. We're gonna be kicking it with them in a little bit. And then we got front page news. But today it's Bow Wow's birthday. What do you want to play?
Charlamagne Tha God
Just.
Angela Yee
I know you're so excited about this.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, here we go. It's Let me hold you'd down by Bow wow and Omarion, who are on tour right now and get the album. It dropped March 6th period.
Angela Yee
It's a breakfast club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just going to hell, y'.
Angela Yee
All.
Lauren LaRosa
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Charlamagne Tha God
What?
Lauren LaRosa
So his father name is not John? His father name is Joseph. I'm sorry.
Angela Yee
When you come in with these facts, you don't. It's not even a fact.
Lauren LaRosa
This was a I didn't know moment this morning. Envy. I didn't know nobody, like I said. Nobody really be talking about his earthly f do nothing like that. No, I didn't know. I thought it was John and his Joseph. The wrong J. So, Jojo. Joseph and Mary were his parents.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, salute to Mimi Brown for correcting you.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you, M. Oh, yes. Thank you, Mimi. Front page news.
Angela Yee
Here we go. Let's get in some front page news. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning. Good morning, y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Mimi Brown
How y' all doing this morning?
Lauren LaRosa
I'm good now. Thank you, Mimi.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning, Mimi.
Mimi Brown
You.
Lauren LaRosa
You are welcome.
Mimi Brown
Good morning. So we start with the war in Iran this morning. Hold on. Sorry. Having technical difficulties. Okay. So we start this morning and with the war in Iran as it continues this morning. So what we are learning is that the president and, oh, my goodness, y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All.
Mimi Brown
Sorry. Okay, Sorry. We started this morning with the war in Iran on multiple fronts. The Middle east is under siege. So the war between the United States, Israel, it is now in its 10th day. Iran is officially named a new supreme leader. That's the most powerful position. So the new leader is 56 years old. He is the previous supreme leader. He is his son. He's widely seen as a hardliner. He's expected to take a tough stance toward the United States and Israel. So meanwhile, President Trump, he says the US should have a say so in who leads Iran. But Iran, of course, they are pushing back on that, saying that is not going to be the case. But over the weekend, US And Israeli forces, they launched new strikes inside Iran, targeting oil depots, fuel storage sites and other energy infrastructures in the city of Tehran. So the video coming in, it shows massive explosions, fire lighting up the skyline. Officials say four depots and other major petroleum sites, they were hit. But at the same time, Iran, they are striking back. A drone, it struck the government building on fire in Kuwait. The US Military is now confirming that a seventh US Member US Troop is dead, bringing the. Bringing the total number to seven. NBC News. They asked Iran's foreign minister his thoughts on a ceasefire. And this is what he had to say.
Angela Yee
U.S. military, you know, installations, facilities, bases,
Charlamagne Tha God
who are attacking us.
Angela Yee
We are under attack. Why don't you recognize this fact? We are under the attack by US Forces in the region. So we have every right to defend ourselves. And how to defend ourselves. We attacked, you know, the U.S. bases.
Lauren LaRosa
This is obvious.
Angela Yee
This is a very simple fact. And I hope that, and I'm sure that people would understand that we are not the one who attacked Americans. We are only defending ourselves.
Mimi Brown
Well, meanwhile, President. Go ahead.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I was just going to say. So America knows that it's probably never going to be a ceasefire and it's never going to be no peace. If the leader that they installed is the son of the man that you killed, he's going to wear binges. It's going to be up for forever.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
What are we doing? For sure, for sure.
Mimi Brown
But meanwhile, President Trump says there will be no deal to end the war. He's actually calling it. He wants an unconditional surrender. That's what he said. And he was asked aboard Air Force One what that means. And he was also asked about Russia and if they could be sharing intelligence with Iran and what that could mean for military sites. Let's listen to both of those responses.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's where they Krynko or when they can't fight any longer, there's nobody around
Angela Yee
to Krynko communicated to the Russians not to send targeting information and other assistance to the Iranians.
Charlamagne Tha God
If they are, it's not helping much. If you take a look at what's happened to Iran in the last week, if they're getting information, it's not helping them. What would it mean to you if they were?
Angela Yee
I mean, even if it's not helping the Iranians particularly much, it's still involving
Charlamagne Tha God
themselves in a conflict. I guess they'd say we do it against them, wouldn't they? Yeah.
Mimi Brown
And that response getting a lot of pushback this morning. Some, some critics say it's not strong enough. And meanwhile, while the fighting continues, there's growing questions about US Troops and if they could be sent on the ground in Iran. Officials say the president, he has quietly discussed deploying ground troops in the area. But that possibility is raising even more questions specifically about a US Draft and could that happen if the war expands. So the White House, they addressed that question on Fox News Weekend. Let's listen to Press Secretary Caroline Levitt. Mothers out there are worried that we're
Lauren LaRosa
going to have a draft that they're
Mimi Brown
going to see their sons get and
Charlamagne Tha God
daughters get involved in this.
Lauren LaRosa
What do you want to say about
Charlamagne Tha God
the president's plans for troops on the ground?
Mimi Brown
As we know, it's been largely an air campaign up until now.
Lauren LaRosa
It has been and it will continue to be.
Mimi Brown
And President Trump wisely does not remove
Lauren LaRosa
options off of the table.
Mimi Brown
I know a lot of politicians like
Lauren LaRosa
to do that quickly. But the president as commander in chief wants to continue to accept, assess the success of this military operation. The president again, wisely keeps his options on the table.
Mimi Brown
So White House is not ruling out a potential military draft, but Iran, for its part, says that it is ready for troops on the ground. The country says that they have been preparing for years for the possibility of US Troops entering the country, warning that it would, quote, be a disaster for American forces if that were to happen.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, everything is just about to get so much worse, man. Like I was reading that story about how the Trump White House blocked the Joint Intelligence Bulletin from the FBI to warn local law enforcement about increased terror threats linked to the Iran conflict. And then yesterday you saw the Kansas City airport get evacuated. You know, I heard about, it was, it was, it was a plane that had a, somebody said there was a bomb on it. Was that a. I think I was going to Nashville or somewhere.
Angela Yee
I think that was Friday.
Mimi Brown
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Yeah, I think that was Friday. Yeah, the video where everybody had to put their hands up and head down.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, we're going to talk about that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, it's just too much going on.
Angela Yee
It's a lot. Yeah.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, definitely a lot. And, you know, there's a report also, Charlemagne, to your point, that came out that said taxpayers are spending $1 billion a day on this. Right. So there's that. We talked about gas last week going up 30%. And then there's another report saying that jet fuel is on the rise, meaning if you're going to travel for spring break, for summer, just anywhere tickets are about to skyrocket. So a lot happening.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, here at home. Donald Trump met all expectations. I mean, for everybody who said how terrible he was going to be, like, I've never seen a person since LeBron James meet all expectations of somebody's prediction of them. Okay, this was. This is. This is. It would be impressive if it wasn't so sad.
Mimi Brown
All right, well, coming up at 7, if you thought. Speaking of airplanes, if you thought airline seats were already questionable, a little dirty. Wait till you hear what's sparking the latest debate. We're going to talk about it.
Lauren LaRosa
All right.
Angela Yee
And everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent phone lines or wide open, call us up, let us know how your weekend was. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Angela Yee
Keep calling 800-585-1051.
DJ Envy
We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club.
Angela Yee
Hello? Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, Jess, how you doing?
Angela Yee
Hey, what's up?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo, how you doing? Hey.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey.
Charlamagne Tha God
I was on my way to dialysis and I heard about you talking about that John the Baptist is his earthly father.
Lauren LaRosa
Nah, nah, it's Joseph, y'. All.
Angela Yee
It's Joseph. She didn't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, I was like, I want to get on here and like, I want to talk to just about this because I'm a firm believer in Jesus and I, I don't want to correct you. All right? I wanna, I wanna, I wanna know how this ties in, because I ain't never heard this a day in my life. And I study.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, no, no, no. Definitely correct me. Yo, I, I was already corrected behind the scenes. Mimi Brown from Front Page News. She definitely told me. She was like, no, John is Jesus, cousin girl. Joseph is his father.
Angela Yee
So I was like, oh, Baltimore Baptist, Baltimore Community College.
Lauren LaRosa
No, that's not where I learned church. Dumb. Sorry. So, yeah, My bad brother.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Joseph is the.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is Mary's husband. He cared for him and everything. So I'm like, yeah, it ain't John. John the Baptist.
DJ Envy
He baptized Jesus for him to start his ministry, Right?
Lauren LaRosa
Okay. If he baptized or. He baptized him. All right, cool. So, yeah,
Charlamagne Tha God
John the Baptist baptized Jesus to start his ministry, paved the way for him to start who he is as the Messiah.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, so then he was like a spiritual father then.
Charlamagne Tha God
Stop trying to fix it. Thank you, sir.
Lauren LaRosa
I mean, he's still.
Charlamagne Tha God
Only Jeff can come in here and find a way to piss off Christians early in the morning for no damn reason. It's for no reason.
Angela Yee
Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this? Yo, yo, yo. This is Chris calling from Monster843. What's going on, Chris? What's happening? 843 Monks Corner all day. Yeah, what's going on, man? Good morning, y'.
DJ Envy
All, Man.
Charlamagne Tha God
Charlemagne. Just envy. What's going on with y'?
DJ Envy
All?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, good morning, Charlamagne, man. I need you to. I need you to come to the front of the congregation, man. I need Roy with you, brother. Yes, sir. Oh, and you from Mo, right? Don't ask me stupid questions.
DJ Envy
You. You.
Charlamagne Tha God
You went to Berkeley High School, right? Don't ask me stupid questions, sir.
Angela Yee
Like, how do y' all decide?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, man, why you. Why you ain't shot? Why you ain't shout out the girls basketball team on Friday morning, man? Oh, they had one state. I. Well, I found out over the weekend. They won state. They won state back to back, right? Yeah, yeah, it was back to back. They. They had the game by Thursday night against Greenville. Man, I thought you was gonna shout it off Friday morning. I didn't even find out till this weekend, man. Man, but salute to the Berkeley High female. Yeah, man, I just want to say salute to the team, the parents, the coaches, man, the whole most order, man. That was a good win, man. Back to back, man. Shout out to them, boy.
DJ Envy
Man, for real.
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely. All them girls. But I know what you mean.
Angela Yee
Oh, yeah, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
Y' all have a go. Yes, sir.
Angela Yee
Get it off your chest. 800-5-5, 10, 5 1. If you need the event, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, Ray. Ray.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ray.
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, Charlamagne. Danzy.
Angela Yee
What up?
Lauren LaRosa
Are we live?
DJ Envy
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Lauren LaRosa
I got an indoor pool.
DJ Envy
Pool. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club.
Lauren LaRosa
We can get on the phone right now. Here.
Charlamagne Tha God
Tell you what it is. Hello?
Angela Yee
Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yo, this is Jay from Chicago, man. What's going on. Good morning, Jay.
Angela Yee
Jay, from the shot. What's up, brother? Get it off your chest, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
I just experienced everything this weekend. High gas prices and the oil just went up on me, man. This pissed me off. Well, it's only gonna get worse from here, my brother, man. Look, I just went and got an oil change. My normal oil guy, he say, slip of a hundred dollars. Every time he get me together, he had to charge me full price. 135. 35. It just went up on God.
DJ Envy
I'm like, come on, bro.
Charlamagne Tha God
This do this to me. Hey. The president, Donald Trump said that he was gonna make the economy right on day one, and he wasn't gonna bring us into no new wars. And he absolutely bought us in the new wars that caused the prices in the economy to shoot up. And they were already. He met every expectation. Charlotte, man, this is. This is insane. And I'm. I'm highly pissed about it, bro. I've never seen anything like that. Just went up 70 cent just from over the weekend. I've never seen. I drive. I drive 40 miles to work every day. Damn. Oh, yeah. And be. I'm in this truck for you. Let me hit that horn for you.
Angela Yee
There you go.
Charlamagne Tha God
There you go. I've never seen anything like this, man. I've never seen a person meet all expectations. Last time I saw this was LeBron James. LeBron James was as good as people said he was going to be. And Donald Trump is as bad as people said he was going to be.
Lauren LaRosa
Damn.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, man, this man is better.
DJ Envy
You need to get up out of here, man.
Lauren LaRosa
You need to.
Charlamagne Tha God
I will say that, but it's too much for the radio. But y' all have a good morning, sir.
Angela Yee
You too, now. Hello? Who's this?
Charlamagne Tha God
Imani, where you calling from?
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, I'm calling from Long Island, New York.
Angela Yee
Okay. Get it off your chest, Mama.
Mimi Brown
So I heard just talking about her
Lauren LaRosa
not really understanding or just a misunderstanding about the Bible. So I wanted to shout out a movie on Netflix. It's called the Book of Clearance. If someone out there, you know, you're trying to understand the Bible a little bit more. Just a little bit more about Jesus in a different way. It kind of just puts it in a more like urban perspective. My. My child has gotten into it. It's just. It's just to help people, you know, that are struggling or doubling anything with faith or just don't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm gonna be honest with you. She do not need to watch the Book of Clarence like she need to. She need to like my book of Bible studies that the Jehovah Witnesses gave out with the pictures. Like something basic. The book of Clarence will confuse her. The book of Clarence will confuse her, man.
Lauren LaRosa
Nah, it's not that I didn't understand or anything or that I just didn't know that Joseph was his earthly father. That's all. You know what I'm saying?
Charlamagne Tha God
John the Baptist was.
Lauren LaRosa
I said John at first, but it was wrong names. Thank you. Imma watch Book of Clarence. But no, I, I, I know a lot about the Bible. I just didn't know that Joseph was my man's father. That's all. I ain't even know that.
Charlamagne Tha God
But you ain't going to act like you didn't say John the Baptist.
Lauren LaRosa
I said John.
Charlamagne Tha God
You will do that. She act like she'll never said John. Like, and they get mad at people for bringing it up.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm not mad.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was John the. She did say John the B. I don't need.
Lauren LaRosa
I don't misunderstand anything. I just didn't know. That's all, Imani. But thank you.
Angela Yee
This morning, just you smoking this morning?
Lauren LaRosa
No, I didn't. Oh, no.
Angela Yee
Edible. Edible. That's what it was. All right. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. When we come back, we got the latest with Lauren. What's up, Lauren?
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning. Yes, we do. We're gonna get into Rihanna. There were shots fired at her home. And I have the latest on everything that went down.
Charlamagne Tha God
You dressed like sabertooth.
Angela Yee
70 degrees today.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know Sabertooth from the X Men? She dressed just like everyone. I mean, dress.
Angela Yee
It's supposed to be 70 degrees today. Why are you wearing that heavy ass jacket?
Lauren LaRosa
Because I didn't want to go. It isn't. And I didn't want to go fully warm outside because I just got finished being sick.
Charlamagne Tha God
So somebody gave her that jacket and she had to wear wear it on the show.
Lauren LaRosa
And I bought this myself.
Charlamagne Tha God
Somebody. What's the brand?
Lauren LaRosa
It's like pretty little thing or something.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, okay. I don't believe it.
Angela Yee
All right. Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
And that's not even black.
DJ Envy
Come back.
Charlamagne Tha God
She dressed just like Sabertooth. Talk LL Cool.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everything.
Mimi Brown
Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you.
Lauren LaRosa
Take me through that. Take me through there.
DJ Envy
The latest with Lauren
Charlamagne Tha God
on the Breakfast Club. LL Cool Bear, talk to me. LL Cool babe.
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning. Y' all so really scary scene that happened yesterday at Rihanna's home. So when the news first broke, there were like small reports. I saw it just on X first and it was like shots fired, Rihanna's home. And I'm like, there's nobody. This can be real. So I reached out to LAPD and Beverly Hills police and at first when they first sent out any information, all they said was they confirmed that there were shots that were fired. They got the call at 1:15pm and responded by 1:21. They said that they got on scene, that there were no injuries and that the suspect was found and taken into custody, but they said nothing else. And then all of a sudden all these details started releasing from the LA Times because the LA Times heard police dispatch audio. So they updated with not only were shots fired, there were 10 shots that were fired at Rihanna's home yesterday. The shots were fired from across the street. Street from her home, out of a car. Now at least one of the rounds penetrated a wall of Rihanna's home. And there were other rounds that were found in a, like an RV that she had parked outside her house. And I'm assuming that's the RV that her and Rocky used. Remember when they did that drive up the coast? I don't know if you guys remember that, but. And then another place on her home. Now they do mention that when they arrested the suspect, who they are describing as a 30 year old female, that the gun was found. Now there are some outlets reporting and again, police have confirmed any of this. This is all based off of the LA Times and audio that they're saying that they heard in their law enforcement sources. But police won't confirm this to me. But they're saying that when they pulled over this woman, it was about 30 minutes after the original 911 call came in. She was parked outside of Rihanna's house. And allegedly that shooting happened from her car. It was a white Tesla. A helicopter observed the test, the Tesla pull off and they followed this Tesla to a shopping center in Sherman Oaks, which is like not too far away from Beverly Hills. It's probably about like maybe 20 minutes if that. That's where they arrested her. Now they described the car, it was a cream or they described what she was wearing. She was wearing a cream colored blouse. Her car was dirty at the bottom, they say. And the suspect's hair was in braids. It's how they describe it.
Charlamagne Tha God
He was probably dirty too. That's horrible, man. First of all, I'm glad that nobody in Rihanna's house was Hurt.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay. Because, you know, that could have been a very bad situation. And clearly her house was targeted.
DJ Envy
Right?
Charlamagne Tha God
You shoot at somebody's house 10 times, you're targeting that person in that house.
Lauren LaRosa
Now here's the thing. I mean, so I used to live in la, and there's always these videos that go viral of like, tour bus pulling up to Rihanna's home. And she'll come out and she'll say, hey, you know, Rihanna is like. I mean, I've never met her before, but I know you guys know her. And everyone has always said that she's, like, very interactive. And a lot of her neighbors, even after this shooting took place, that were interviewed by local outlets. We have one from FOX LA talk about the fact that, like, how scary it was, but the fact that people know she lives there and, like, she does. Like, she's open to speaking to people when they pull up. So it's like targeted, but also the fact that. That everybody knows she lives there. So it's like trying to figure out the motive, which police haven't talked about, is going to be a thing as well, too. But let's take a listen to a FOX LA clip. I have one of her neighbors reacting to when he heard the bullets. Bam, bam.
Charlamagne Tha God
And it's like, it's a pretty unmistakable sound.
Lauren LaRosa
Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, BAM.
Charlamagne Tha God
Like, probably 10 shots. Wow. And it's just one of those things.
Angela Yee
It's like, that's not a car backfiring.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's not fireworks. That's somebody shooting a gun.
Angela Yee
As it turns out, it was.
Charlamagne Tha God
I came running out. I. We both said, did you hear that? I said, hit the floor.
Angela Yee
Because you never know, like, how close
Charlamagne Tha God
it is, you know, you could always get hit by a stray. No, I'm not gonna lie. He lied just now. What he said. He said he came running out. Then he said he told somebody hit the floor. Which one was it? My body. Which one was it?
Lauren LaRosa
Maybe he did both at the same time.
Charlamagne Tha God
By the way, if somebody. If I hear gunshots, I'm not running out. No, you're just not, you know, why did he say he ran out and then he told somebody hit the floor?
Lauren LaRosa
I don't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
But which one was it?
Lauren LaRosa
There were more comments in the Post and. And there was another person that said that they came running out their home as well, too. I think it's because in that neighborhood, they're not really used to hearing that, so they knew it was something they were trying to figure out.
DJ Envy
What?
Lauren LaRosa
I don't. I don't know, but there was another person that said they ran out their house too. But I'm not running out my house. If I hear but yes. Glad she's okay.
Angela Yee
I always wanted to know, I always wanted to know how does those companies get away with it? Like the T. TMZ company driving to celebrities houses. Like I've never understood how you get away with that.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, tmz. TMZ doesn't go to celebrities homes. That is the number one rule on their tour bus. Not allowed to go to celebrities homes and probably for reasons like this. So that when things happen, you're not in the conversation of like why people know that the celebrity lives there.
Charlamagne Tha God
You used to work on them buses, right?
Lauren LaRosa
That's how I started. Yeah, I started giving tours on the bus asap.
Angela Yee
Rocky we know parents want to feel confident as their teens navigate social media. With Instagram teen accounts, teens get automatic protections by default. Teens between the ages of 13 to 17 are automatically put into a protective experience. That means they get built in content settings for what they see, contact limits on who can contact them, and time management tools like daily time limit reminders as well as sleep mode which mutes notifications from 10pm to 7am plus, teens under 16 need a parent's permission to change any of these settings to be less strict. The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history.
Mimi Brown
Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict. A villain, a nurse named Lucy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Lucy Letby has been found guilty.
Mimi Brown
But what if we didn't get the whole story?
DJ Envy
The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses.
Mimi Brown
I'm Amanda Knox and in the new podcast the Case of Lucy Letby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Letby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt

Lauren LaRosa
Also was actually one of the first people I've ever ran into on the tour.
Charlamagne Tha God
So what did y' all tour?
Lauren LaRosa
So we toured on a TMZ tour bus. We go to all of the spots that are like TMZ's biggest story. So like we go to the Guitar center, we go to the Chateau Marmont where different things happen. We go to. We go through the 30 mile zone, which is what. Or they go through 30 mile zone, which is what TMZ stands for. Which is like where all the old movies used to be made up. You just tell stories throughout Hollywood, some of the biggest restaurants where they seen certain things and where then you talk about the Michael Jackson call that happened when Michael Jackson passed away and. But never nobody's house.
Charlamagne Tha God
Crazy. I always thought that those were like celebrities sighting toys and y' all were like on a safari.
Lauren LaRosa
You kind of are on a safari. And you cite people like. Like I've.
Charlamagne Tha God
I.
Lauren LaRosa
When I was doing it, I. Mariah. That's actually how I got into the newsroom because I would run into celebrities and interact with them so well. But I ran into Mariah Carey on like the. The street next to Rodeo Drive is not Rodeo. We not. We weren't allowed to go down Rodeo. I ran into asap. Rocky. I ran into so many people on that tour. But we don't go to homes. But in la. That's what I'm saying. The way that Rihanna is, people be so astonished to see her in grocery stores or whatever. That's normal in la. You can run into celebrities anymore where she live at. That's very dangerous. Like. Yeah. How much she worth? She's one of, you know, like she's one of the top celebrities that we know. You know, it's just dangerous to know exactly where she live. Very dangerous. And I'll be in contact with police over there trying to figure out what they determine motive wise and just any other updates. So there will be more here, unfortunately. But that's so scary.
Charlamagne Tha God
So miserable.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know how miserable you got to be just to pull up to somebody's house and want to let off 10 shots for. For no reason.
Lauren LaRosa
And you know what?
Charlamagne Tha God
She could be dealing with some type of mental illness. I don't know.
Lauren LaRosa
I was gonna say it could be that, but also what I was think to it. So I remember some years ago, I think it was like 2018, there was a guy that broke into Rihanna's house and he got like. Of course he was locked up and all that, but he spent like 12 hours in her house. And that happens with celebrities a lot. Chris Brown had somebody that did that too. Maybe he had that stalker. She kept breaking in his house. That happens every time. But. But now, I mean it's not okay if it's just Rihanna or just Rihanna asap. But they have babies now. They got three babies in there. So like you know, I just can't imagine being there. We don't know who was home with her. We just know everybody. And even if it is, it was
Angela Yee
a mental illness, it's like, all right,
Lauren LaRosa
right, you, you targeted her house. It's her house.
Charlamagne Tha God
You.
Lauren LaRosa
Why wouldn't you just go to any old house? You went to her house.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, yeah. And it's not like, it's not like celebrities haven't been, you know, tragically taken by fans before Selena. You think about John Lennon, like, you know, you know, sadly.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, that is scary. So I'll keep you guys updated on the latest with everything that's happening over there. And just, I mean, I'm sending them prayers still because I, I know she's so scared.
Angela Yee
Absolutely. All right, well, thank you so much. Now, when we come back, we got front page news. So don't go anywhere. And don't forget, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will be joining us in a little bit. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning everybody. Is DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back to some front page news. What's up, Mimi?
Mimi Brown
Good morning, Envy. Jess. Charlemagne. How y' all doing this morning? Good morning. So we start this hour in New York City where police say a live homemade explosive device, it was set off outside the mayor's residence during a protest over the week weekend. Now investigators say the device confirmed by the NYPD bomb squad was a real explosive device that could have seriously caused some injury or even killed someone. Now the chaos it unfolded Saturday outside Gracie Mansion as an anti Muslim protest and a much larger group counter protest. They had a clash. Protesters say that, you know, they were disagreeing with the is what's going on in Israel and but police say that situation unfold it so quickly and that arrests were made. Here's NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch with more on the investigation.
Lauren LaRosa
The devices, which were a bit smaller
Mimi Brown
than a football, appear to be a jar wrapped in black tape, importantly with nuts, bolts and screws, along with a
Lauren LaRosa
hobby fuse that could be lit.
Mimi Brown
A counter protester identified as amir Balaq, an 18 year old man, lit and threw an ignited device toward the protest area.
Lauren LaRosa
Witnesses reported seeing flames and smoke as
Mimi Brown
it traveled through the air. Mr. Balat then ran southbound and gets a second device from a man tentatively ID'd as Ibrahim Nick, 19 years old. Mr. Balat lights the device and starts running with him.
Charlamagne Tha God
He then drops the device on the west side of East End Avenue.
Mimi Brown
Officers immediately secured the area and they
Charlamagne Tha God
took both men into custody. Do we know why I was outside the mayor's house. Maybe I was just. Because that's what the protest was.
Mimi Brown
That was just where the protest was. To my understanding, a total of six people were arrested during the confrontation, including one person who was accused of using pepper spray and three others who were accused of disorderly conduct. Conduct. Now there was some back and forth whether the mayor and his wife were home, they were inside the residence at the time, both are safe. And now the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, they are now involved in part because investigators say one of the suspects, they referenced ISIS during their questioning.
Charlamagne Tha God
And the protesters were against the war. Right?
Mimi Brown
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
So the person who threw the bomb was for the war. I'm confused. I got on so.
Mimi Brown
So to my understanding it was. There was, there was a clash between those who were against the war and those who were for the war.
Charlamagne Tha God
Got you.
Mimi Brown
Yeah. The person who threw the bomb. I think that's where the investigation is going on. I think they're still trying to figure all of that out.
Angela Yee
Right.
Mimi Brown
Because it all happened so fastly, fast.
Angela Yee
Now, is this the first thing that happened there? Because I thought they said last week it was something else that happened there another time when he wasn't there, so.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, that's one.
Mimi Brown
That's a great question. Envy. I'm not sure I know this is the first one where there was a live bomb that was used. You know, that was actually something that could be detonated that could actually cause some harm, which is why this one is making, you know, national headlines this morning.
Angela Yee
Very scary.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, very, very scary. And now to Cleveland. A heartbreaking case is unfolding there. Police say a 28 year old mother, she is now facing two counts of aggravate aggravated murder after the bodies of two young girls were discovered buried in a suitcase earlier weeks. Yeah, the. Yeah, the mother or the discovery was made last week by a dog walker who spotted the suitcases in a field near a local high school and called the police. Now investigators say the girls have been placed in two separate suitcases and buried in shallow graves. Now authorities, they have identified the victims as a 10 year old Amar Wilson and 8 year old Mila Chapman. They say that they were sisters. Now, officials have not released police the cause of death and detectives say the investigation is still unfolding. Meanwhile, the father of one of the girls is speaking out this morning. Let's listen to some of his emotional testimony.
Angela Yee
I just feel useless.
Charlamagne Tha God
I couldn't save my daughter when it
Lauren LaRosa
was something so simple.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just give me her. You feeling stressed? Give me her.
Lauren LaRosa
I've Been trying to get her for six years.
Charlamagne Tha God
You've been ducking me.
Lauren LaRosa
You told me I was too family oriented. That's why you ain't giving my daughter.
Charlamagne Tha God
Been trying to. Trying. Been trying. Being taught to CPS numerous occasions. I don't know how long she's been gone. I don't know how long she's been dead. I don't know how long she's been missing, but it could have been prevented. Yeah, I just don't know how you come to that conclusion as a parent. I mean, all of us got kids in this room. I just don't even know how your mind works like that, you know? And to say that my children would be better off dead than in the custody of somebody else.
Lauren LaRosa
Jesus Christ.
Angela Yee
It makes no sense.
DJ Envy
Sense.
Charlamagne Tha God
No.
Mimi Brown
Absolutely not. And so that mom now is behind bars. The investigation is continuing. Police are now asking anyone who may have had security camera footage or information from that area to come forward as investigators work to piece what happened.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's horrible.
Mimi Brown
Yeah. And switching gears a little bit. I know we were talking about this last hour. Have you seen that viral video of passengers on the Southwest airline raising their hands while police walk through the cabins?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
Mimi Brown
Okay, so look it up, Jesse. It was going viral. It's literally probably. As soon as you open your timeline, it'll probably pop up. So that looked very, very scary. But here's the context behind that. So the. The Southwest flight, it was diverted. It was heading to Fort Lauderdale, being diverted from Atlanta after passengers became concerned about a man's behavior on board. But officials say it turned out to be a misunderstanding. So the passenger had simply set a timer on his phone so he would know when it was time to pray. For Ramadan police said they met the plane when it landed in Southwest. Of the crew, it diverted the flight out of abundance of caution. And they apologized to the passengers for the delay, but that's. That's literally all it was. They heard a.
Charlamagne Tha God
Who called the police? Who's.
Angela Yee
Who seen them set the timer and say he had a bomb on him? Do we know?
Mimi Brown
Well, I don't know that came from passengers. But.
Lauren LaRosa
But who called the police?
Mimi Brown
Were the flight attendants. The flight attendants definitely called the police on that. So. So it turned out to be just someone setting their timer. So they knew when to pray.
Charlamagne Tha God
Damn. I mean, listen, anxiety is high right now, man. People are scared to death. And, you know, you got an administration that's, you know, telling the FBI and DHS not to inform local law enforcement of threats. And, you know, you hear things about what happened at Gracie Manning? You see what happened at the Kansas City airport? Yeah, you know, I don't. It's not right. Cause that's, that, that's profiling. But still, I.
Angela Yee
Like you said, anxiety is.
Charlamagne Tha God
Anxiety is something.
Angela Yee
I'm gonna say something. That's what you're telling me to do. I'm saying something.
Mimi Brown
People don't want to take any chances these days. Better be safe than sorry.
Lauren LaRosa
So.
Mimi Brown
And also staying on Southwest, So if you've flown recently, maybe if you've flown Southwest recently, you know that, you know, sometimes when you get on the seats, you get on the flight, it's not exactly the cleanest. But now Southwest Airlines, they are facing backlash after reports have come out that they may start prioritizing cleaning the more expensive seats while doing less to clean the seats on the back of the plane. So according to information,
Charlamagne Tha God
we shouldn't even notice.
Mimi Brown
No, we should not. But it gets better. So according to information that leaked from inside the airline, Southwest has been experimenting with a new cleaning approach that is designed to speed up how planes can quickly turn around and get back, you know, back into the air. So under the approach, the deeper cleaning would focus mainly on the extra leg room seats for the front of the plane and the seats that cost more. Those are the seats that cost more. While the rest of the cabin may only get, you know, like a. Just a quick once over. So that means flight attendants would still pick up the trash straight in the cabin. But there are concerns that things like tray tables, armrests, seats, and the economy might not get the same level of cleaning in between flights. So a union leader representing Southwest Airlines, they said that that is not true. It's spreading online. But some are comparing it to the Titanic, where the wealthy passengers enjoy luxury while everyone else is living left in worse condition.
Charlamagne Tha God
So, yeah, capitalism has ruined us. And I, I don't, I don't believe that story either. And the reason I don't believe that story, because I just don't think that's how your mind would work if you work on a Southwest flight. I'm just going to clean the front, but f the back, like, people aren't going to complain. Like, nobody's doing that.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, that's.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's crazy.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, well, that's what they are. That's what they're saying. I've seen it a couple of times, but. And there's a lot of things going on with Southwest right now, like extra. But, you know, they, since they did the free seating, now, people are complaining about. There's no bin storage. People are complaining that, you know, if you put your child in row two, you're all the way back in row 40. So they're having some, some trouble lately in the press.
Lauren LaRosa
Figure it out. Yeah, better figure it out.
Mimi Brown
What happens?
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, God bless Southwest and God bless spirit. Okay, what your spirit got into with this? I'm just, you know. God bless. Amen. God bless those Greyhound buses in the sky.
Angela Yee
Salute the Delta man. Delta holds me.
Lauren LaRosa
American.
Angela Yee
United States.
Mimi Brown
Alaska.
Charlamagne Tha God
Come on, Mimi, chill out, all right? Mimi's from Alaska, by the way.
Mimi Brown
Right. And so I got to rep Alaska Airlines. They always hold me down.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what's crazy? I never even thought about flying Alaska Airlines, cuz in my mind they only go to Alaska.
Lauren LaRosa
No, actually I used to catch that flight to la. It's a flight like they got like two main flights to LA every day. I used to catch it. Not Alaska's.
Angela Yee
All right.
Mimi Brown
Yeah, it's good.
Charlamagne Tha God
I heard it's cold on the planes. Is that true?
Lauren LaRosa
It's not.
Charlamagne Tha God
Shut up.
Angela Yee
That's front page news. Thank you, Mimi.
Mimi Brown
Yes, thank you. All right, that's your front page news. Mimi Brown. Follow me at Mimi Brown. Tv.
Angela Yee
All right, everybody else, when we come back, Jimmy, Jim and Terry Lewis will be joining us. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lauren larosa is. Is here as well. We got some special guests in the building.
Charlamagne Tha God
We got who?
Angela Yee
We got icons, some legends. They're back. This is their second time on the show. Ladies and gentlemen, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Welcome.
Charlamagne Tha God
Thank you for having us.
Angela Yee
Well, how y' all feeling?
Charlamagne Tha God
First and foremost, I feel great, man. You know, busy. I like that. But if. If I'm not busy, I gotta get busy.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Being busy.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
So that's just what it is.
Angela Yee
Reach out to you guys like they show should. I mean, because you put up so many hits on the board, so many, so many points on the scoreboard, I wonder if the younger artists really say, you know what? I gotta tap in with Jimmy Jam
DJ Envy
and Terry Lewis sometimes. Sometimes. I mean, what happens now is because so many of the artists are tapping into the 80s and the 90s, they're either sampling our stuff or they'll just call and say, hey, will you get down with me and do some stuff? You know, so, yeah, so that definitely is happening. Which I. I think is very, very cool.
Angela Yee
You know, and if you don't know, if you're just joining Us, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Icons, legends. They work with artists from Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Prince, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey.
Charlamagne Tha God
Everybody, man.
Angela Yee
Boys to Men, New Edition, Shaka Khan, Tony Braxton, wow. Her sos, Band, Yolanda, Items, just to name a few.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't even like to say that y' all worked with those artists. Those artists worked with y'.
Angela Yee
All.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, because y'. All. Y'. All, did. Y' all shape culture. There was a. There was a period where y' all sound is what absolutely positively shaped culture.
DJ Envy
Well, it's a team sport. You know, it's a team sport. I mean, we work with really talented people. I always say we work with talented people. They make us look good, you know, so that's what it is. And it's a team sport. Even, you know, us being here with y' all today because we could make all the music we would want to, and if there wasn't a delivery system where people could actually hear it with all y' all talking us up or playing our songs and that, that's. It's like the tree that falls in the force and nobody knows about it. So Terry has a theory on that. He says. Says, we don't make hits. We just make music. Y' all make. It hits.
Charlamagne Tha God
Everybody, Everybody, everybody takes the whole ecosystem to create a hit. Do you think producers today still shape culture the way that y' all did? Or has, like the algorithm replaced the producer ear, so to speak? I don't think algorithms will ever replace anything. That's just people who don't know having a way to know something. Something still, it comes from the gut, man. What makes people feel something. What makes the hair on your arms stand up? You know, it makes you get goosebumps. That's. That's what moves the needle. All the rest of it, man, is just people talking about things that they don't know nothing about. Yeah, it went that way this way. Trending is trending that way. But it doesn't always trend the way that you want it to go or what you think is going to do. And if someone knew that equation, oh, man, everybody have. Everything they do would be.
DJ Envy
That's right.
Angela Yee
You know, we just recently had Teddy Riley up here, right? We were talking about the new Jack swing era, and we talk about Teddy and Keith. And I was. I was thinking to myself, shouldn't Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's name be added to creating that new jack swing sound? And do you ever feel a way when sometimes you guys are not mentioned in that. In that Creation of that.
DJ Envy
I feel like Teddy is a king of New Jack swinging, meaning that he took that style, patented it, and gave us something to all be a part of it or follow along with it. I feel like the first New Jack Swing song, although there was no title for it, there was no moniker for it. It's probably Janet Jackson Nasty, which was Caught, which was Control album, which is 40 years ago this year. So we saw Make Everybody feel old. 40 years ago that album came out. But that's. I think that. And I remember the first time we heard I Want her by Keith. And I remember we were with Babyface in la. We were just hanging out in a club and we. That song came on and we all thought it was nasty at first because, like the little. Like the little synthesizer parts. And then Babyface said, oh, no. LA said, oh, no, that's Key Sweat. That's Key Sweat. And I said, oh, yeah, Keith Sweat. That's. That's dope. I like that. And then Babyface goes, yeah, Keith's cool, but the dude behind him, Teddy Riley, he's the one. So Face was the one that really turned us on to Teddy Riley. Riley and love what Teddy does. So I think we're part of it, but I think there's no question that he's a king of New Jack Swing. And by the way. And I'll tell you. I'll tell you a quick Teddy Riley story. So I always said my theory was the foundation of hip hop was always James Brown, right? It was always based on Funky Drummer or the Lynn Collins think, you know, the tambourine and that, like, was across so many hip hop records. But I always said the foundation of New Jack switches swing was Casey and the Sunshine Band.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, yes, sir.
DJ Envy
Right? And everybody, everybody said, no, no, what are you talking. What are you talking about? So when I interviewed. I had a show on Sirius X back in the day, and I actually interviewed Teddy and I told him that theory and he laughed and he said, oh, my God. He said, can I tell you something? He said, you know, the baseline of I Want Her. And he goes, right? He said, that's the way I like it. Casey in the Sunshine Band. If you listen to that song, it's the same bass line. The other foundation of that is I Get Lifted. That. That's Casey in the Sunshine Band. George McCrae sang the song, but Casey in the Sunshine Band played it and produced it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, wow.
DJ Envy
So he said, yeah, you're absolutely right. So I was like, okay, cool. So now I can go to people that I Think I'm nuts and go, no, I got it from. I got it from the guy. But Teddy's amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Lauren LaRosa
The more conversations that. That I'm a part of here where I learned so much about like music history history. I'm like, is there ever going to really be a way to really archive all of the hip hop, R B, soul, like real music history? Because every time I talk to somebody, I learned something new or a different angle or way to think about it. Like, do you guys think we'll ever really be able to document all of it?
Charlamagne Tha God
We're doing it right now. Yeah, I think you can. It's just that for music, I don't think anyone can take credit because everything is based on something else. You know, the shoulders that we stand on dictate kind of where we. We can see our purview on something.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
And so everybody has something in their air that affects them in another way and we just keep taking in another place. But it all is based on the same stuff. So nobody can claim credit for anything. Cuz that, like kc, that was my favorite stuff.
DJ Envy
You know, that was right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Come there with the swag.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, that's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, that's right. That was it.
Angela Yee
So.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, congratulations on y' all Las Vegas residency coming in April.
DJ Envy
Thank you.
Lauren LaRosa
How does it feel to have that? That's a. That's big. That's nice.
DJ Envy
You know, about. Probably we might have talked a little bit about it when we did our album, when we did our Jamming Lewis vine one album. But we had said back at that time, there was three things we wanted to do. We wanted to work with Babyface, which we ended up doing, which was great. We said we wanted to do our own album, which we did Jam and Lewis Volume one as Volume two is on the way. But then we also said we want to go play our own music live. Because if you think about it, we started off before we were songwriters and producers. We were musicians, you know, playing in bands and playing everybody else's hit songs. And that was part of our learning process, part of our education, how we learned to even songwrite and produce. And so now going back full circle for us, we get a chance to play some hit songs, but they just happen to be ours and go back to our musician roots. So we're really, really excited about it. And veg. This is a perfect place to do it. And we got a nice little intimate room called Voltaire at the Venetian Resort. And it's going to be nothing but hits, as we call it. And but we're also going to be telling the stories behind the songs, like the way those songs were made and all that. And we think it's going to be a great little format, A little time travel, a little virtual time travel.
Charlamagne Tha God
All 42 Billboard number ones. We gonna hear.
DJ Envy
We gonna. Well, we gonna get as many as we possibly can. Yeah, we definitely, definitely are. I tell people it's gonna be more of a. More of a tasting menu. Like, we're not going to do like whole seven minute remix. Yeah, yeah, no, we're not going to do that. But. But we'll hit you. We'll hit you with that intro. We'll get you there. You know, verse course, you know, might hit a bridge or something. Got to hit bridges because we love bridges. We got to hit the bridges and whatever and then boom, we run on to the next. So it's more like a mixtape or more like if a DJ's doing a mashup. It's more that kind of thing you guys work with.
Angela Yee
With so many people. I'm sure all these artists will be there. Will it be some of those things where somebody's in town and people be like, so and so's on the stage?
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Jada Jackson's here, ladies and gentlemen.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's the 40 year anniversary of control.
DJ Envy
It absolutely is. Well, the thing that happened for us was we kind of tested this concept. We went to Japan. We did like, I think 16 shows in Japan or something like that in the past couple of years just to kind of test the concept of what it is. And what happens is if you have friends in the audience, most of the time, they'll want to come on stage. So we did a show in Atlanta during Labor Day last year. And for instance, and I will say Reuben Studdard is our kind of our male singer because he can handle anything from, you know, Alexander o' Neal to Usher to whatever. And when we started doing Bad Girl, he just walked where Usher was sitting. And Usher was there watching, just enjoying the show. And he kind of looked at Usher and like. And Usher got on stage, hit, you know, hit Bad Girl. Hit. You remind me. And it was like, oh, okay. So we always say you never know who's gonna show. And that's. That's where we look. And, you know, listen, we talked to Dr. Dre yesterday. He said he's gonna come. He's gonna come play cowbell is what he said. I said we put a cowbell up in the front on the catwalk. Yeah, on the catwalk.
Charlamagne Tha God
Cowbell on the Catwalk.
DJ Envy
Cowbell on the catwalk. We got a cat. A catwalk that goes out in the audience, which is cool. So everybody gets a good seat and stuff. It's gonna be a lot of fun, man. And, yeah, there's gonna be a lot of friends dropping through. And you never know. Each night's gonna be different. We're doing six nights. It's a limited resident, but each night will be a little bit different.
Lauren LaRosa
Is this the first time that you guys are ever approached about a residency?
DJ Envy
We were. We did one other one. Well, then for us, yes. For Jimmy and Terry, yes. We did do a residency with the Time, with our group the Time. Gotcha right after we did the grammys back in 2004. Maybe. I can't. I don't remember what year it was, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
I can't remember yesterday.
DJ Envy
No. I always say I remember 40 years ago better than 40 minutes ago. But, you know, that's. That's how it goes. But we were approached because we performed on the Grammys. That year was the 50th anniversary of the Grammys, and we performed with Rihanna, actually. And I remember when we came off, everybody said, hey, what are y' all gonna do? And we said, what? This is just a one off? And they said, no, no. And then a guy that actually ran the Flamingo Hotel, Tony Braxton, was appearing there, but Tony was having some health problems. And he said, I got three weeks that I can put you all in if y' all want to do a residency. So as the time we did a residency, and it was during the summer, and it was great. It was probably the best summer vacation we ever had.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was the greatest.
DJ Envy
Yeah. That our families.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just do what you love, man, and be done by. You know, we go on at 7. We're done by 9, and we're having dinner with our family.
DJ Envy
Yes, it was great. Terry said it's the least we ever worked in our life. It was great.
Charlamagne Tha God
I always wonder about that, that. That time with the Time. No pun intended. But how did Prince contribute to your growth as just producers, musicians, artists, everything?
DJ Envy
I don't know. I'll start off by saying the reason we're here is because of Prince. I mean, Prince was the one that. I mean, I met Prince in junior high school. We went to junior high school together, took piano classes together and stuff. We both knew how to play, but it just got out outside of class a little bit, you know? But he was the one that really. And I will say Morris Day, because Morris actually wrote. There's a song called we know parents

Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A Verdict. A villain, a nurse named Lucy Letby.
Charlamagne Tha God
Lucy Letby has been found guilty.
Mimi Brown
But what if we didn't get the whole story?
DJ Envy
The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses.
Mimi Brown
I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast the Case of Lucy Letby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Letby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt.

Party up on the Dirty Mind album. And Morris actually wrote that song or the track to that song. Cause Warners wanted, you know, Prince to do something a little more funky because he had gone into his, you know, more of his rock thing. And Morris gave that song to Prince. And Prince said, what do you want? He said, I'll give you, you know, I'll give you 30 grand or I'll give you whatever amount of money. Money. He said, or I'll get you a record deal. And Morris said, I'll take the record deal. And Morris said, okay. And then Prince said, put a band together and, you know, we'll get you going. And Morris came to our band, and we were actually like a competing band of Morris back in the day. But he came to us and said, okay, y' all gonna be the band. And we're like, okay, cool. And that's what got us going. That was back in 81. So that was the thing that got us going and put us on the map. So. All thanks to Prince. All thanks to Morris Day. They're the ones that started on us and of course, we got, you know, as we. The famous story we got fired by Prince, but Terry likes to say he didn't fire us. He freed us. And literally the same night that Prince freed us.
Angela Yee
Yes.
DJ Envy
We were at Sunset Sound, he freed us. We went over to a studio called Larabee, right across, you know, the way, and ended up mixing what became our very first hit. And that was just Be good to be by the SOS band. So literally the same night we got free reed, we had our first hit. And, you know, the rest is history after that. Very much a Hollywood story.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, God knows, bro.
DJ Envy
Yeah, God definitely knows.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm sure y' all still maintain the relationship with Prince after that. I think when people have these conversations about, like, who's. Who's the greatest artist of all time, I don't think they really understand what people like Prince did or even, like a Stevie Wonder. The fact that they could write.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Sing, produce, play instruments. Like, they're not just singing a song somebody wrote and dancing. Right.
DJ Envy
Yeah. You know, I think the impact. I mean, you feel it's a ripple effect. And that's the thing that you. When you talk about Prince and think about this, he played every instrument. His debut album, to me, is like the best debut album of all time, because he played every instrument. He played, sang every note, wrote every song. I mean, he did everything on that record. And so that was his thing. But if you think about it, the way we dress, the way we. And you think about the ripple of effect, now, we know when you hear, like, you know, a Bruno Mars, there's no Bruno Mars without Prince. And he acknowledges that. Matter of fact, Bruno Mars thanks us. He's like, when he had 24 karat and all that stuff out, he was like, thank you, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, you know, so to me, that's the ripple effect. And that's all because of Prince and the fact that we're still here. We get a chance to be blessed to talk to you guys today. That's because of Prince. So that's that ripple effect. So when you talk about the greatest, some of it is. Is what they did in the moment, but also that ripple effect that they have, you know, and Princess, there's nobody better to me.
Lauren LaRosa
And y' all have worked with so many different people over the years. Have y' all ever turned down an artist, writing for an artist or producing? Because I ain't trusting with y' all music or. It just didn't align with y'.
Charlamagne Tha God
All. Yeah, we've turned down things for sure, but not for the that reason. We didn't feel like we were the best people for the job. So, yeah, we are fans of, of the people that we work with. We're fans of music and we love music, retro and forward, whatever. And we, we want to protect it. So we protect ourselves by not doing something that we're not inspired by.
DJ Envy
I'd like to say we, we. We don't really. We. If we say no, it's always with a but. It's like, no, but you know who would be really good for this is this person. So we redirect. A lot of times we will redirect and get, get the right people involved or a lot of times we will advocate. We were talking about it the other day. So Pink is up for the Rock and Roll hall of Fame this year. And Pink came to Minneapolis to do work on some stuff with us. And we said, will you play us what you got so far? And she started playing all this stuff and it was the stuff that Linda Perry did with her and Dallas Austin did with her. And we were like, what do you need us for? You said, you got it. You got a record, right? And she said, well, LA thinks that, you know, because my. It's so different from what I did before because her first album was a very R B album. And I said, okay. So we called la and I said, la. I said, take your record company hat off for a minute and just put your musician hat on. I just want to give you two examples. And I said, the first one was a girl in Canada. She was popular in Canada, had a few hits and stuff. She came to America, she made a record called Jagged Little Pill. And he said, alanis Morissette? And I said, yeah. And I said, then there was a guy, I said, he had a, you know, double platinum album, big rock record. I said, the next album, he came out, changed his whole style, had bikinis and leg warmers and a trench coat. He said, prince? And I said, yeah. And he said, so you're telling me you think Pink is Prince and Alanis Morissette? And I said, yes. I said, now put your record company back, your hat back on, you have your first single. He said, what's that? I said, get the party started. Because that song will not lose her audience that she already has, but it's going to start gaining her that audience where she's trying to go. And I remember when the album came out, like three months later, everybody started calling us. This is before Internet or anything. You couldn't just text People, they would call us and they go, what'd y' all do on Pink's album? We said, we didn't do nothing on the album. Well, she thanks you in the liner note. She said, thank you, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. And I said, oh, we made a phone call.
Charlamagne Tha God
So that's it.
DJ Envy
So we've done a lot of that. So that wasn't a no, but it was, you know, you got what you need right here. You don't really need a anything.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why does pop music often get looked at as a. A white genre when it was black? A black producer like a Quincy Jones and a black artist like a Michael Jackson, and black producers like you two, and a black artist like Janet Jackson who changed the trajectory of pop music. Well, pop, I think at the intention of pop was only to refer to it as popular. And I don't think it was race or gender specific at that.
DJ Envy
That point.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think people have a need to own everything. White people. Well, yes. Okay. Others have the need to claim everything, and I can't. I think that messed the game up. Like, I actually prefer how they do it in. In Europe. Like, there's one chart, and if you want it, you want it, and if you're not, you're not. So if the competition is fair at that point. Point, let the games begin and let the music speak for itself. So I don't know. It's. It's a way to separate. What's the difference between gospel and Christian? I have no idea. I don't know. Either one is white and one is black. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's true. Damn, I never thought about that. Yeah. So. So. So everybody needs. Has. They feel the need to put things in boxes.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
But we talking about God and we talking about God. Yeah, same God. Right? I think.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
How do y' all feel about the Rock and Roll hall of Fame conversation? And. And Gene Simmons, he got in trouble again because he was saying that black, basically artists that are hip hop or R B should not be.
Angela Yee
The title is Rock and Roll hall of Fame.
Lauren LaRosa
Hall of Fame.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's kind of. But you know what? I'm. That's how he feels. And that he's trying to protect himself in that. Because black folks created rock and roll. Yes.
Angela Yee
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So how can he be mad at the other people that are getting in because they created the genre that you specifically want to claim.
DJ Envy
Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you can't be mad at other people for getting in because.
DJ Envy
Well, you. You can be. Well, it just doesn't.
Charlamagne Tha God
It just doesn't work.
DJ Envy
Yeah, yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
It doesn't work on any level.
DJ Envy
Yeah, well, I mean, if you think about the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, the first people that were inducted in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, right at the very beginning, you know, you had, you know, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and, you know, it was the black pioneers, the people, Lil Richard, like, the people that really invented what is known as rock and roll. And rock and roll was not at the origin, was not a white dude with long hair and a guitar. That was not what it was. It morphed into that. But I think we see now it changing to be more inclusive. And also, rock and roll is more of an attitude than a genre of music anyway, you know, And I think hip hop, if anybody embodies, you know, aggressiveness, different, you know, ness coming through adversity to make music, that's the hip hop community. So to me, that's as rock and roll as it gets.
Lauren LaRosa
And he credits them as well when he talks about it. But it's just like the irony of, like, that credit and then the separation and then it sparks a whole conversation again about that barrier and that guideline.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, well, maybe they should just call it the hall of Fame. That's it. Yeah. If you want to be, you know, specific in a way that is general, you know, it's about the music, isn't it? About the contributions, isn't it?
DJ Envy
Yeah, Well, I think. I think the importance of it is that I think the music, the conversations around music are always great. So if somebody has to say something that's, you know, slightly off, you know, just off, I guess.
Charlamagne Tha God
Ignorant.
DJ Envy
Okay, then I think it's great that we have the conversation about it because it keeps music important. It keeps it relevant. And I'm glad we have the conversations. And I think, you know, once again, for younger people, we're coming at it from. I mean, we're coming from old guys, you know, But I think that everybody needs to know that conversation and how those kinds of things happen, because otherwise you think that it's just a status quo. You know, the things were always like that. I mean, a whole different thing. But I know my kids, for instance, when my kids were growing up, Obama was the president, they thought, oh, that's normal. That's what it is. And it's like, no, no, no, no, you don't. It's not normal. And now they see what the new normal is and they're like, whoa, wait a minute now. You know, because they historically don't. Don't have that. So I think you have to have the context. And I think that. But I love that the Rock and Roll hall of Fame and the other thing about that is the people that vote on that, that room is changing a lot. I mean, because it goes to the fan vote also, but that room in that room is changing. And so I think that there's a need to, you know, as we. People like Luther Vandross on the ballot this year, which I think, you know, think about Luther Vandross. He was a major contributor to David Bowie.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
You know, so I just think that the connections and those types of things are really good, but I think the conversations are really healthy to have. You know, the debates are healthy.
Angela Yee
Now, these brothers got to go.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know they got to go. I got one last question. When it's all said and done, do you want Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to be remembered for the hits or for the blueprint y' all created for producers to control their own death? Ooh.
DJ Envy
It's a good question. Well, I always say. The story. I always say about that, is it Michael Jackson asks. He said, how do you want to be remembered? And I just said, I want to be remembered as a nice guy. And he said, no, no, no, no, no. Is it because of all your hit
Charlamagne Tha God
records or all your.
DJ Envy
That you sold so many? I said, no, no, no. That's all statistical stuff. So, like a chart position that's statistical. I said, I want to be remembered as a nice guy. And about a year later, I'd sampled some of Michael Jackson's stuff, and they said, oh, you'll never clear that. You'll never clear that. And I called Michael, he called back, and he says, I know you want to ask me a question, but can I just tell you? Whenever they ask me what it's like working with you guys, I just go, jimmy Jam is the nicest guy. I said, thanks, Michael. And he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll clear it. Have John Brank a call, and I'll clear the sample and whatever. We ended up not even using the sample. But my point was, is that was the impression. And I said to Michael, I said, the good news, Michael. I said, when people ask me what it was like to work with you, I tell them the exact same thing. He's a nice guy. So I always want. I would always go for that over the talent. But the way you articulated as sort of a blueprint or sort of a, you know, an inspiration and all of that, that's what we would like to be. I think, you know, that I mean, the hits are great and the moment. But once again, as I talked about earlier with Prince, you know, Prince had some big hits, but his effect on people and the fact that we're even sitting here right now, we want to be that for people. We want to be the reason that they're sitting here and being able to do what it is that they do and for. To have them say. I mean, I'll tell you, we talk about, you know. You know, white people. Charlie Puth. Charlie Puth came on a thing we did the other day, and he was like, y' all the reason I even make chords, the way I make my chords and that kind of stuff, you know? You know, so that's the kind of impact. Charlie's good, dude. Right. But you want. That's the kind of impact you want to have. And I think that means a lot to us to. To have that.
Charlamagne Tha God
And I would just add a little bit of sauce on that. Sandwich is really nice, Jimmy Jam, but
DJ Envy
put a little sauce on it.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think from the age that we came into this, you know, there were people before, certainly Gamble and Huff, who was our blueprint.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know, Quincy Jones, who was like a mentor. I. I love the way our career arc and business acumen helped to shape the business side of it for producers that came after us. Now, although that. That. That's all changed now because nobody gets paid now. Yeah. Because of streaming. But we actually made the producers have some power at a certain point, because before, they were just. Just tools, and we became personalities and tools, and that helped us just like you guys are, y'. All. Y' all are personalities. So that gives the voice even a louder bullhorn. So we were able to advocate for all the people that we love. You know, I love musicians. I love artists. I love producers, anybody who's creating music. And Kenny Gamble said it best because as my mentor or we would always talk to him about things. He said, you know, our music is supposed to be pure, wholesome. It's supposed to feed and nourish us. So we have to be careful with what we do in terms of what we create for our communities. And I still believe that. But there's room for all of it.
DJ Envy
Yep.

The latest with Lauren
Charlamagne Tha God
on the Breakfast Club. LL Cool baby Talk, talk to me.
Lauren LaRosa
So last week, before the weekend, last Friday, we talked about Nicki Minaj's Nicki Minaj, I'm sorry, Cardi B's concert in Houston. And, and when we mentioned that concert, we had a conversation about Stefon Diggs and his mom or Stefan Diggs mom attending the concert. And I did not mention on purpose the fact that Nicki Minaj's half sister Ming attended the concert. I just felt like there was no reason to because we know that Nicki Minaj's sister and Nicki Minaj, from what we've seen, they're not like super close. And I think people, I knew people were going to make it like such a thing.
Charlamagne Tha God
So why are you mentioning.
Lauren LaRosa
Because Cardi B has responded to her con, her sister attending the concert. And I loved Cardi B's response, response. So the concert went down to Houston, Ming was there, she was in the crowd, she was enjoying herself. She didn't do anything petty or anything like that that I saw. And then she was also out after the concert and there were videos of her in the section that Cardi B was in. Now Cardi B has responded to this because of course it went crazy because we know that there's a few with Nicki Minaj and Cardi. Let's take a listen to Cardi's response to Nikki's half sister attending.
Mimi Brown
I feel like that young lady, I
Lauren LaRosa
feel like she needs guidance.
Mimi Brown
I feel like she just like if somebody comes to see me and they don't and there's no issue, I don't want to play nobody in their face and try to be funny if they're not on that type of timing, it just doesn't get you nowhere. I feel like life right now is so beautiful and I feel like being kind has taken me, I've been so
Lauren LaRosa
kind and I just been thinking before I react and stuff like that and I feel like that's paying off.
Mimi Brown
Sometimes I be wanting to blow up cuz I be getting so mad at others.
Lauren LaRosa
I be like, you know what, whatever,
Mimi Brown
Cardi, before you Curse somebody out, just walk away. Plus, I'm not gonna be beefing and doing the most with somebody that I don't know. They're 19 years old, 18 years old. I'm too grown for that. And I'm too, too blessed for that. I don't think that girl's on drama time. I just feel like she just. She's a young kid.
Charlamagne Tha God
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mickey, ming Lee is 20. Right. Nikki's 40 plus years old, and they both have said they've never been close.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. Yes.
Angela Yee
About a year ago. Yeah. This shouldn't be a story. She went to go see Cardi B. And she said, look, I'm a Cardi B. F story.
Lauren LaRosa
I think the reason why is just because when you just read it on face value, it's Nicki Minaj's sister, but if you don't know the background, then it makes no sense. But I think it got to the point where Cardi responded because y' all know Cardi watches everything. But there were so many people that were picking it up. Even Ming herself was like, yo, I went to a concert. Like, let it. Let it go. But yeah, so I thought Cardi's response was, like, really great to kind of dead the noise that was trying to happen around it.
Mimi Brown
And she's a little.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm not little, but she's so much younger. Younger than her. And then just not so much about Ming, but what Cardi said, her being kind to people, like, she's too blessed for the drama and everything like that is refreshing and great to hear her talk like that because she is extremely blessed. And we know she'll go off in a minute not even talking about this situation, just period. So I love that, you know, her growth as well. Yes. Over the weekend, I also saw too, that Bodak Yellow by Cardi B had hit 1 billion streams on Spotify, which is her fifth song to achieve this in her, you know, history of invasion of privacy. So amazing. You know, the. The blessings keep on coming for her. Yes. They'll be bumping that first album.
Angela Yee
Love it.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes. Now, in other, you know, big news. So Byron Allen. Now, listen, I thought that this was so fire and so fly. And I think a lot of people. If you don't know who Byron Allen is, you should. But over the weekend, it was announced that his. His media group. Allen Media Group, who owns the Weather Channel, is a production company. He has local TV stations and streaming platforms. Platforms. Is buying a significant stake in Stars. So he has acquired 10.7% of a stake in Stars through his investment firm and family office, Allen Family Capital. Now, according to the filings, he is paying $25 million for the stake. He's acquiring it from the event from like a former investment fund. But this is fire because. Yeah, you.
Angela Yee
Hell, yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, I don't. This is amazing. Excellent. And I saw this being reported and I remember the conversation I watched at John Hope Bryant's conference that we went to in Atlanta with Byron Allen and Sharla. And I was just sitting there thinking, like, he does all this stuff so quietly and we talk about how we don't have a hand in like television and media and we have this man doing all of this and people just aren't talking about it. People don't know it, but that's why I'm glad you are reporting it. It's important as hell. Yeah, I thought that that was so fire. And I think with this stake he'll be able to help determine, like, what goes on to the network and just have conversations behind the scenes, which is what we need.
Charlamagne Tha God
So, yeah, Byron is one of the quietest moguls ever in the history of the game. And he, he grew his business from entertainment because he is a comedian.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what I'm saying? He started off as a stand up comedian. So salute to Byron Allen. That's my guy. I was talking to him this weekend, man. Like, that is. That is major. You know it is. That's why that's all he does. He just stacks his portfolio quietly and be chilling. Cool.
Lauren LaRosa
Like he's owned the Weather Channel for years. Like, yes. And just be chilling. So I thought that that was so fly. But as we end the hour, I want to mention. So we. I did a conversation with Gina Lisa about Britney Spears and all the DUI things that are happening. Yesterday I reached out to the California Highway Patrol to just check in on any updates on Britney Spears. And there's nothing there yet, but because her case hasn't even made it over to the DA's office. But I got a lot of pushback for me and Gina Lisa's conversation. People feeling like, because Gina Lisa said that Britney Spears should still be in a conservatorship and people don't like to hear those words at all. But I thought that that was kind of crazy. I'm like, are you guys not watching what's happening right in front of you? Well, I thought, think people, you know, following like what happened with Wendy and everything like that and knowing that sometimes the conservatorship can be A group of people that don't have your best interest at heart. So some people have like, they, they've like associated that part of it, like the stigma, the bad stigma around conservatorships. I get it with this.
Angela Yee
That's exactly what it is. When they, when they think about it, they think of Wendy Williams not being able to go out and see her dad, not being able to go out and shop. And that's what they think about it. But sometimes it's well needed.
Lauren LaRosa
But that's why we did the deep
Angela Yee
dive recklessly and all that.
Lauren LaRosa
That's why I wanted, when I did the conversation on the podcast, I didn't just report it. I'm like, let me bring in somebody who can explain how this can be done, right? So please go listen to the full conversation on the latest with Lauren Larose of the podcast. And over the weekend, there were reports or speculation that Britney Spears had like took the cops on a high speed chase because she's had incidents previously with cars. And police officers had to come out and say, no, that is not true. So all these crazy headlines are happening and coming out and we're following it. And people were like, why would she need a. Some guardianship? But I don't know. So I'll keep you guys updated there. I'm told this week there should be more updates. And I also checked in on the her numbers, what she tested and what she did not test. And I'm told that this, that should come this week. So that's it in the latest. And make sure you go guys, go and listen to the podcast.
Angela Yee
All right, thank you, Lauren. Now, Charlemagne, who you giving that donkey to?
Charlamagne Tha God
Man 4 After the hour. There is a guy named Andrew Paul Johnson who needs to come to the front of the congregation. We would like to, to have a word with him. He participated in the insurrection on January 6th. Okay. And he's going back to prison. We'll discuss.
Angela Yee
All right, we'll get into that next. Sister Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
Make sure you tell him to watch

Charlamagne Tha God
The Breakfast Club donkey of the day with Charlemagne. I don't know why y' all keep letting him get y' all like this. It ain't me, Duvall. It's y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay, donkey. Today for Monday, March 9, goes to Andrew Paul Johnson. Now, I'm pretty sure Andrew Paul Johnson is from Florida because he was sentenced by a Florida jury. Now, what does your uncle show, inshallah, always tell you about the great state of Florida? Say it with me. The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida, and today is no exception. Now, let me tell you something about Andrew Paul Johnson, and it's really all you need to know. Andrew Paul Johnson participated in January 6th. Yes. He was one of the insurrectionists, okay? A member of Manila isis, a part of the domestic terrorist organization that I, without an ounce of affection, refer to as our cracker, all right? He was pardoned by President Trump, play his role in the insurrection. And anyone who participates in an insurrection does not love this country, okay? Insurrections are unconstitutional and illegal. And I know people like to shoot these folks, bail and make excuses for them and say, well, they thought they were protecting democracy. They thought the election was stolen and they were trying to intervene. My answer to all that is absolutely not. All right, Stop it. Okay? These individuals were terrible people, people. Horrible humans. Repeat offenders of all types of crimes. And Andrew Paul Johnson is the latest example of that. Let's go to CBS9 for the report, please.
Mimi Brown
And for his role in the January 6th Capitol riot is back behind bars this time after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a child. A jury found 45 year old Andrew Johnson guilty on five charges including molesting a child under the age of 12 and a minor under 16. In 2024, Johnson pleaded guilty to entering the U.S. capitol through a broken window. Police say he used his status as a pardon rioter to coerce the victim. Johnson now faces up to life in prison.
Charlamagne Tha God
He used his status as a pardon victim. I mean, as a pardoned. Yeah, pardon. Play that last part again. To me, that last part has a. He uses

That means they get built in content settings for what they see, contact limits on who can contact them, and time management tools like daily time limit reminders, as well as sleep mode which mutes notifications from 10pm to 7am plus, teens under 16 need a parent's permission to change any of these settings to be less strict. Johnson guilty on five charges, including molesting a child under the age of 12 and a minor under 16. In 2024, Johnson pleaded guilty entering the U.S. capitol through a broken window. Police say he used his status as a pardon rioter to coerce the victim. Johnson now faces up to life in prison.
Charlamagne Tha God
He used his status as a pardoned rioter to coerce the victim. Wow, wow, wow. President Trump does not make good decisions. Okay, at some point, even the members of the MAGA cult have to be honest about this. Not only was this Guy pardoned for January 6, and he shouldn't have been, he also sounds like he would have had a grand old time on Epstein and Island. Okay, maga, I think y' all got a type now if you're keeping score. President Trump pardoned about 1500 people connected to the insurrection. And at least 33 of those individuals have been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for other crimes since the Capitol attack. And at least five of those people have committed new crimes after receiving their pardons. Okay. Of various assortment of charges. Burglary, weapons offenses, domestic violence, dui, possession of illegal materials. And now Andrew Paul Johnson, sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing two middle school age children. What did Maya Angelou say? When someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them. Okay, well, I don't know if Andrew Paul Johnson showed us he was a child molester, but he definitely showed us he was a terrible person. All right, can somebody please ask President Trump about all the people he's pardoned who have ended up going back to prison. Can you ask him specifically about Andrew Paul Johnson? Okay. There are still some honest press corps members out there. Kaitlan Collins of cnn, I know you have more pressing issues to be asking the president, because there is a lot going on, but I just want to see how he would spin this one, okay? A man you gave a presidential pardon to for storming The Capitol on January 6th has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing children, and he used his pardon status to get victims. Let me be clear. He received a pardon from Trump, and the pardon had nothing to do legally with the crimes he committed sexually abusing children. But life has a funny way of revealing who people really are, okay? Because sometimes when you shine a light on somebody's actions, you realize, you know, January 6th might not have been the worst thing about them. Okay? See, people argue about pardons. Like there's some kind of magic eraser. Like, you could. You. You could just control, alt, delete, and suddenly somebody becomes a good person again. No, you was who you was before you got here, okay? You was a pedophile before the insurrection. You was a pedophile before the pardon. You're gonna be a pedophile after all that, too, okay? See, a pardon might erase a charge, but it can't erase your character. Please let Remy Ma give Andrew Paul Johnson the biggest Hee haw.
Lauren LaRosa
Hee haw. Hee haw. You stupid mo. Are you dumb?
Charlamagne Tha God
That's crazy.
Lauren LaRosa
People are so disgusting.
Angela Yee
So crazy.
Charlamagne Tha God
He used his pardon status to get victim.
Angela Yee
Wow. To entice the victims.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's crazy.
DJ Envy
Wow.
Angela Yee
Well, he'll be sitting down for a long time.
Charlamagne Tha God
He deserv.
Lauren LaRosa
Absolutely.
Charlamagne Tha God
Forever what he needs.
Angela Yee
All right, well, thank you for that donkey today.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, indeed, man. And you know what I was thinking, man? Am I the only person who feels off this weekend? Like, on Saturday. Saturday, I was sitting in an off Broadway play. I went to go see Heathers, okay? With my daughter. And I just felt the. I just felt the shift, like something felt off. And I. I mentioned it to a couple of people, and they said it's because time moved forward. I've never felt like this over no hour moving forward.
Angela Yee
But I wouldn't have felt that on Saturday because it happened Sunday.
Charlamagne Tha God
It happened Sunday. But that's what I'm saying. I'm saying I felt the shift.
Angela Yee
Oh, you felt.
Charlamagne Tha God
Saturday evening. And then when I said his name. Man, shut up. And then when I said something, I said something about it, you know, later the next day, people were saying, oh, it's because time moved forward. I'm like, I. I've never felt like that because time moved forward. And then Lauren LaRosa came in here today and said, man, that hour moving forward got me feeling off. So I'm like, okay, well, it ain't just me. Who else feels like this? Does anybody else feel like.
Angela Yee
Let's open up the phone lines. Let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. I feel like that as well. But I think I thought just because I was traveling, that hour moved up, and my body, I feel like, hasn't felt the same yet. I feel like I need my hour back. I need my get back. You can't just take an hour from me, and I can't get my hour back. I feel tired. What about you, Jess? I'm straight.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, you're not. You thought John the Baptist was Jesus daddy came in early this morning talking about John the Baptist was Jesus's daddy.
Angela Yee
Nah.
Lauren LaRosa
No, no, no, no, no.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm good.
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, the time didn't mess me up enough, and it's cool. I'm great.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Angela Yee
But let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. This weekend was daylight savings time. The clock actually went forward, so you lost an hour of sleep. So we're asking 800-585-1051. Has this affected you, or do you feel off? Does something not feel right? Do you need your hour? You need your get back? Let's discuss. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's topic time.

Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now, if you're just joining us, we open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Charlemagne said over the weekend he felt a shit.
Charlamagne Tha God
Can I talk for myself? I asked him what the guy's name
Angela Yee
was, but he thinks it's something else.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm sorry, can I. Can I speak for myself? Okay. Yes. I went to go see How Heathers, which is a Broadway play. Me and my daughter and my wife and, like, just sitting in the play around 7 o', clock, 8 o', clock, I just felt like. Like just off. Like, damn, what the hell? Like, you can just feel like a. A shift happened. And then next day, I mentioned it to a couple of people, and he was like, oh, you feel like that because, you know, time went forward an hour And I'm like, I ain't never felt like that. Cause time went forward an hour, and then Lauren LaRosa came in here this morning and she said she felt off. And so I'm just like, well, damn, who else know feels that way as well? And is it because the time move forward, it got to be.
Angela Yee
Well, Jess said she doesn't feel any different.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I'm straight. You know what I mean? Like, I'm. I'm good.
Charlamagne Tha God
She also came in here this morning and said.
Lauren LaRosa
Can I speak for myself?
Angela Yee
Can I.
Lauren LaRosa
Can I speak for myself? Thank you.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I didn't.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, I.
Charlamagne Tha God
You got watch her.
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, you lie faster than me sometimes.
Angela Yee
Shut up.
Lauren LaRosa
No, for real. All right, so I did come ahead and I said that John. This is not even a topic. But. But it's. John is not his father. Yo.
Angela Yee
Joseph is Jesus earthly father.
Lauren LaRosa
We know that, and that's what.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, but I'm saying you came this morning and said otherwise.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I did, but then I corrected myself. Thanks to Mimi Brown, the front page news. She let me know that John was Jesus cousin and then Joseph was his fault.
Angela Yee
Can we go to the phone line?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hold on. Lauren just text. Lauren just sent a text from Chanel Salute to Chanel who works at Black Effect. Chanel said Mercury is engaged Gatorade. And so being that Mercury retrograde. Mercury is in Gatorade. Mercury is in Gatorade. Being that Mercury is in Gatorade. Y' all talk about me. She said six signs most affected by Mercury being in Gatorade are Gemini cancer, which I am. Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Pisces.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, we don't got nothing to do with that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Lawrence and Sagittarius. I'm a cancer. So y' all off.
Lauren LaRosa
Y' all balance is off because of the Gatorade and the Mercury. Crazy.
Angela Yee
Well, let's go to the phone line.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, no, there's a reasoning for it. I'll come back. Let's go to the phones, though.
Angela Yee
Hello? Who's this?
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning. Good morning. This is your girl. Ch, S.C. peace. I just want to speak.
Angela Yee
Talk to us.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hold on now. Your phone sound like you frying fish now. Get your phone out that batter now.
Lauren LaRosa
Can you hear me better?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, we can hear you now a little bit.
Lauren LaRosa
All right, well, I just want to kind of like speak on the topic this morning. I really do. There was a shift on Saturday, but something is definitely happened to me. I just couldn't even explain the feeling yesterday or Saturday.
Charlamagne Tha God
Me too. I felt it Saturday Saturday evening, I was just like, yo, what just happened? Like, I felt it. Like, oh, my God.
Angela Yee
Hello? Who's this?
Lauren LaRosa
Hey, y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Lauren LaRosa
It's your girl, Shonda. So I just got in my car, and the first thing I heard was Charlemagne mentioning, like, the weird feeling that kind of. I feel like maybe a lot of people's having. But I felt it before the time change, which is awkward. And I was wondering, like, could it be, like, all of this uncertainty with, like, the whole war that's happening? Like, we gotta keep it real. Like, our president is causing the world, like, our world. American world anxiety? I wonder if it was that at first. But then when I heard Charlamagne say it, I'm like, wait, so I'm not the only person. Like, this feels weird. Something feels off. Yeah, because you were saying that before time went forward with Charlotte, so you know what I mean? You said you felt that on set Saturday and time didn't go back. Yeah, Sunday, you know, so. Yeah, I felt that for sure. And then, like, obviously seeing the clocks being a little off, like, it could trigger a slight, like, what is this? Like, oh, let me fix my clocks. But it's more than that. It's more than that. I don't know what it is, but just want to let everyone know, like, God is real and keep him in your heart. Make sure that you pray and you ask them to. To protect you from any bad energy that's out here in this world. And we gotta also stick together in these times, guys. And we appreciate you guys being on the radio and. And making us aware of these type of things, because I don't hear no one else talking about these subjects other than you guys.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, we appreciate you. Thank you.
Angela Yee
Now, Sholom, you were talking about retrograde. What were you saying?
Charlamagne Tha God
Mercury is in Gatorade, which I didn't know until you keep saying that it
Lauren LaRosa
is the retrograde, not Gatorade, because, you
Charlamagne Tha God
know, people listen to.
Lauren LaRosa
And they're thank Gatorade.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm not listening to you. You said that John the Baptist. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. But listen. Okay, so Mercury. Mercury retrograde is happening until March 20th, and it's affecting six signs a lot. Gemini, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces. I'm a cancer. Lauren LaRosa is a Sagittarius, and she said she felt it. You know what I mean? So. I don't know. I don't. You know.
Lauren LaRosa
You say Virgos, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, Virgos too. Envy's a Virgo. Envy said he Fell off.
DJ Envy
Okay, okay.
Lauren LaRosa
He fell off.
Charlamagne Tha God
Emby said he felt.
Angela Yee
Well, let's go. Let's take some more calls when we come back. And pause that. 800-585-1051. You said envy Felton. I don't know what you.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know what, man. No, I'm not growing up. You so freaking sensitive about your butthole. Nobody wants it.
Angela Yee
800.
Charlamagne Tha God
Already had it used up.
Angela Yee
Watch him out. Nobody's in my butthole. Don't put that on my butthole.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know you came up in 90s New York era, man. It was a different time. You don't have to live traumatized for the rest of your life, bro.
Angela Yee
I put that on the dead homies. Nobody's been in this.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right? Please. Okay. Post Traumatic Sodomy syndrome is real. Yeah. Post Traumatic sodomy disorder.
Angela Yee
If you're just joining us, Charlemagne said over the weekend he felt a shift.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, man.
Angela Yee
Something was off. Something widened for him. I asked him who it was. What's the guy's name? He said it wasn't that. He said it was something else.
Charlamagne Tha God
So what is.
Angela Yee
Is it Charlemagne?
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, shut up, man. I just said Saturday evening. I was sitting around. I was at a play, actually. I went to go see Heather's, and I just felt like a shift. I'm sitting in the play, and it literally was like, yo. I literally was like, yo, what just happened? Like, it's like the world around me changed. Like, the energy and everything changed. And I'm not gonna lie, it did have me had me kind of depressed, like, really for the next 36 hours.
DJ Envy
Wow.
Charlamagne Tha God
Even a little bit this morning. But then I came in this morning, and, you know, Laura LaRosa said she felt the same. The same thing. Envy. You said you felt the same thing. You know, Jess said Jesus was. Jesus said, I'm good. So I was just like, you know, clearly, Jess is normal. I'm not one. That's the only normal person in the room. This morning, I felt tired.
Angela Yee
I felt like it was because of the time shifting, and I just assumed that was the reason. I feel a little tired and a little off. But maybe, like you said, it's Mercury's in retrograde. Maybe that's part of it. And if you don't. You don't know what Mercury in retrograde means. Can you break that back down? What it means for the universe?
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know what Mercury in retrograde means. I just hear people always say it, like, I'm not a Mercury and Gatorade type of person. I just, you know, hear people will say that to me, but I've never really understood what it means. But it said, I'm looking it up now. And it says the period is associated with communication breakdowns, travel delays and technical glitches. It is considered a time to pause, reflect, and avoid signing major contracts or starting new projects. So Mercury retrograde started on February 26th and lasts until March 20th. So I don't know why I would just be feeling it Saturday. So I can't say that that's a Mercury retrograde. I felt.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Well, let's open up the phone lines.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
Angela Yee
Who's this?
Lauren LaRosa
Good morning. Good morning, Tammy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Tammy. Good morning, Tammy. Good morning.
Lauren LaRosa
How you guys doing?
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm blessed. Black and highly favored. How are you?
Lauren LaRosa
Awesome. Awesome. Great to hear from you guys. I just want to comment on the topic. I don't feel like there was, like, it's anything to do with the time change, but it definitely feels like there's a shift in the Matrix or something. It just felt off yesterday, but I don't think it has to do with the time change.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay, what do you think it has to do with.
Lauren LaRosa
I really don't know. Like, I really feel like we're living in an episode of the Truman show or the Matrix.
Mimi Brown
For real.
Lauren LaRosa
Because I was driving for a long period of time yesterday, and I swear there was a period where I felt like I blacked out, but I didn't actually black out. I just felt like.
Mimi Brown
Like, how did I get here?
Lauren LaRosa
Like. Like I was. I'm driving, and I know I'm driving, but I kind of had to catch myself. Like, wait a minute. Am I really driving, driving right now?
Charlamagne Tha God
It just felt off for a good,
Lauren LaRosa
like, 20 minutes where it was, like, off and on. Like, where I had to catch myself and be like, okay, well, I'm. I'm driving, driving. Like, Tammy, you're driving. You're driving. Remember, you're driving. So it just. It just felt off yesterday.
Charlamagne Tha God
For real.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's how I felt Saturday. That's how I felt like that last night, even when I was trying to sleep. Like, I. It's not like I was. I wasn't tired, but then I was kind of restless. But then I felt like I was sleeping, but then I had a bunch of stuff on my mind. But then I woke up this morning and I wasn't tired. Yeah, that don't seem like.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I just don't say the time
Angela Yee
says salute to DJ Precise. He just texted me. He says, no lie. I'm listening. This Morning. He said. He said I felt the same energy. Energy off. He said, I understand exactly what Charlamagne's feeling. It just feels off. I can't describe it. I don't know where it's coming from.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just something changed. Like the world around us changed. Like something happened.
DJ Envy
Yo.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
Angela Yee
Who's this?
Lauren LaRosa
This cam from the 843 Peace Cam.
Charlamagne Tha God
843? What part? 843.
Lauren LaRosa
You calling from North Charleston off of the Macon.
Charlamagne Tha God
Naughty. Bye. What's happening?
Lauren LaRosa
Nothing. I agree with you, Sharla. It's Saturday. Everything just happened felt weird. Like it was just a whole different change in atmosphere. I don't know if it's because of what's going on in the world or just everything that's going on in the. In the state in itself, but everything's just weird. And it's not the time change.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's not the time change because I felt it before the time. I felt it around 7, 8 o'. Clock. Like, it was literally like somebody turned the channel, yo. Like, I can't even describe it. It just felt like the world changed. And I'm like, yo, what the hell just happened?
DJ Envy
Happened?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. Like, it. Like I was driving on my way to Myrtle beach and like that. It just felt like. Like something just heavy just went down and I was just like, I don't like this.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't like it either. Thank you for calling. Damn.
Angela Yee
Is there moral. What's the moral to the story?
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know what the moral of the story. I just, you know, that's the beauty of, you know, being on the radio and being able to talk to millions of people every day. Because you can come in here and, you know, express things and then realize you not alone. Because I'm telling you, man, on Saturday, I was just literally sitting in that play and I just felt something shift. And it didn't feel good. It didn't feel bad. You could just feel that it was a real difference. And like, I. It kind of had me in a. A real state of depression the last, you know, 36 hours even. Even a little bit today, but I feel better now knowing that other people feel like that.
Angela Yee
All right, all right. Well, when we come back, we got the latest with Lauren, so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club Club. Good morning.
Lauren LaRosa
Lauren becoming a straight fan.
Charlamagne Tha God
She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets the details.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
And she be having the latest on you. The Latest with Lauren LaRosa. Sometimes you have facts, sometimes you have details, sometimes you have a little bit of everything. Well, it's the latest brought to you by Top Dog Law on the Breakfast Club. Talk to me Hot Dog Low.
Lauren LaRosa
So real quick, at the top of this latest, I wanted to mention a filing that went down that I'm seeing people starting to have a conversation about. So Brian Steele, you guys know Brian Steele, He's a famed attorney. He represented Young Thug in that trial, that YSL RICO trial. He also was a part of Diddy's defense team, has now submitted documents asking to replace one of Little Dirk's attorneys on his legal team. Now the reason why I think that people are like clinging to this is number one, because Brian still has had some success for Diddy and also for Young Thug. But people feel like right now Little Dirk's case is basically almost like he won't beat it. Like I. There's a lot of people who don't have faith in the case. Even though the murder for hire trial has not even made it like it, it's happening in August. But because they are now able to use like certain lyrics and, you know, all of him and his COD defendants will be tried together, I think people are losing hope for Dirk. And Brian Steele is, is representing like, okay, they're still in chance. But I think that the way that people are having a conversation about Little Dirk's case is a bit unfair only because the only time I see the media covering it doesn't get much coverage. By the way, his team is all gag ordered though. So like they can't talk to media. And I think that's why you don't see it pick up a lot.
Charlamagne Tha God
Where is he located at?
Lauren LaRosa
He's in California. I believe that's where the Murder for Hire trial went down. But let me look up exactly where he's locked up at, but because I'd
Charlamagne Tha God
be wondering why nobody ever. California. Yeah, nobody ever comes to his court case.
Lauren LaRosa
So I can't answer that because, I mean, I have seen videos of like it only being like India and a couple people from his family. But I do know that his attorneys are gag ordered because I've reached out to them several times trying to get clarity and comments on things and they can't do it. So a lot of times when that happens for media, it's like you want to talk about it and talk about things that face value, but there's so many questions that you don't get from documents unless you're in the courtroom. And we're all over Here.
Charlamagne Tha God
I bet you if he was in Chicago. Chicago it would be different though, because even when you think about, you know, Diddy, his case was in New York.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Think about Young Thug, his case was in Atlanta. I bet you if Dirk was in Chicago, it'd be completely different.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, I think what people also should know too is that there have been things that his legal team has been able to do for him. Like, I know that there are some lyrics that will be able to. You be used from the song.
Angela Yee
Aha.
Lauren LaRosa
But there's other moments that were used in lyrics and songs that his team fought heavily on against being allowed in court. And some of those things were told, hey, you can't use these. So there has been a little movement there. But, you know, hopefully with Brian still on the team, we'll. We'll see more people having conversations about what's happening because it'll be the things that I think people will jump to. It's so weird how the court cases pick up and some of them don't. Go ahead, Envy.
Angela Yee
Well, is it true that some of the songs that they recorded, they said they actually recorded before the actual killing, so that there's no way that those songs could be used in court?
Lauren LaRosa
That was some of the arguments that. Yeah, that. That took place back and forth. I, I mean, I, I'm not in the studio, so I don't know what was recorded when, but that was some of the arguments as well. But I, for me, I just know that even the lyrics that they are going to allow to be used, if you look at a lyric, depending on what you think actually happened. So if you're the prosecution or the defense, you can make anybody believe anything. So he just needs a strong team. Point blank period. And I think Brian still is going to come in and be that.
Charlamagne Tha God
So I ain't know. Brian still was his lawyer, but.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, he's not yet. He's. He's asking to be. And people are like, oh, wow, okay, so this is about to get real. Still does get busy in the courtroom. So I wanted to mention that there. Now moving on, over the weekend, actually Saturday, there was some drama with Dwight Howard and his wife Amy. Absolutely. Of love and hip hop. So we've been kind of back and forth with them. They were together then, you know, they called it off and now they're back together. And Amy over the weekend posted a video. She was sitting in the car, breaking down, crying, could barely talk. And she's alleging that CPS was called to their home and that one of their children Children was removed from the home, amongst other things. Let's take a listen. My marriage has landed me in a very dangerous position. My stepdaughter was just taken by CPS because of her father. CPS and the police have been here three times in less than three months. And I stood in it with my husband. Even though I was scared from my own self thinking this is my husband. I had everybody around me see, man, you can't leave. Your husband is sued. You said through sickness, through health.
Charlamagne Tha God
But it's not even about me.
Lauren LaRosa
It's about the kids. So of course I'll be his alibi.
Charlamagne Tha God
But this is going way too far.
Lauren LaRosa
And I keep telling people he needs some help.
Charlamagne Tha God
Y', all, I live with him.
Lauren LaRosa
I caught this man forcing our 12 year old son to cover for him. He was coaching our son to lie on me and I had to record it.
Angela Yee
And it's.
Lauren LaRosa
It's this. I try to tell everybody he needs some help. This is what I'm losing my marriage to. This right here. Yeah. So it was a pretty lengthy video. In the video, she pulls out what she alleges is a bad, big, big ass bag of cocaine. Yeah, but. And then it was something else too. Like she got unscrewed. And I think it was like a little tube and there was things in the tube as well. But here's the thing. There was another video she posted where she's talking to the son and she's basically talking to the son about like, you know, it's bad when you lie on people and things of that nature. But there's no, like, I'm still confused. And I. A video of her talking to her stepson. Stepson, yes. The lie that she's a legend. She was trying to basically show that she had recorded that. Right. But you don't hear the conversation about the lie. So. Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
I just want to raise my hand.
Lauren LaRosa
Go ahead.
Charlamagne Tha God
The question to the class. Y' all do know cocaine is illegal, right?
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
You find that much cocaine, you supposed to call the goddamn police. I ain't riding around showing people on Instagram look like a half a kilo of cocaine.
Lauren LaRosa
Absolutely. You know what I was more worried about in the video when she pulled out the little tube and whatever was in this tube that she alleges is cocaine. It. It. She sprinkled it on her hand to show us.
Charlamagne Tha God
Right.
Lauren LaRosa
And then she's wiping her nose as she's crying and hide all. All at the same time.
Charlamagne Tha God
Over. That is not going to be an excuse. This is my baby daddy's this is mine.
Lauren LaRosa
This is my husband.
Charlamagne Tha God
Put your hands behind your back. Crazy.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, crazy.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'm calling the police.
Lauren LaRosa
It's a mess. It's a lockdown over there. It's a mess. But yeah. And there's been no updates.
Angela Yee
I don't even understand why she would put that on social media. Right, because like Charlemagne said, it is illegal. It is against the law. Somebody's going to go to jail.
Charlamagne Tha God
The police ain't gonna care. You can't tell the police. This is my baby daddy. Cocaine.
Lauren LaRosa
I have a lot.
DJ Envy
Baby daddy.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, not baby daddy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Her husband. You know what I'm saying?
Lauren LaRosa
That's Royce Reed. Baby daddy. But didn't Roy jump in and say something? Yeah. So Royce got online. So if you guys are online, aren't familiar, Royce Reed was with Dwight Howard. They have children together. And Rich Reed has been claiming for a while that Dwight Howard allegedly is the issue. And when she saw this, she responded to. Amy, let's take a listen.
Mimi Brown
It's everybody else's fault. So you just don't think any of us fell for the antics either, right? None of us fell for the narcissism. Are you crazy, Amy?
Lauren LaRosa
You call me crazy?
Mimi Brown
You said I was jealous. You said I wanted to him when it's always been about the damn kids. And now you want to sit here and cry and sit here and be like it's because of what everybody else did to him. No, it's because of what he does to people. I was just. First, I was collateral damage. Let's call Royce crazy, and people will believe it because I'm baby Jesus, girl, shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Meanwhile, Dwight Howells at the Los Angeles Lakers nick his business.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. Chilling like, yes. Then even yesterday, I went to his page and see, because I reached out to his team, and they didn't respond to me. So I went to see if maybe he posted something. Whatever. He had posted a video about, like, a car giveaway they gave to, like, families with no cars. Like, he just moved on from all of this. Like, he just.
Charlamagne Tha God
I also would like to say this is just my personal observation. I don't know any of this. I'm just. Dwight, don't give coke to me.
DJ Envy
What do.
Charlamagne Tha God
There's nothing about Dwight Howard that says I'm on cocaine. That's just my personal opinion. I don't know. I don't. I don't know him. I'm not around him 24 7. But just in the time I've interacted with him. Bennett, I don't get coke.
Lauren LaRosa
A better Question is, who gives Coke to you?
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, there's a lot of people who give Coke.
Lauren LaRosa
So we can, but we need to, like, be able to, like, messy ass.
Charlamagne Tha God
Tmz. Plenty of people who give Coke. You give Coke. To be honest with you. Oh, my God. She don't give. A little bump in the morning. Built like one.
Lauren LaRosa
Shut up.
Angela Yee
Oh, my God.
Lauren LaRosa
Don't tell my coat. Being built like a Coke. No, not an attic. A Coke bottle. Like the nightstand. I thought it was something. Well, look, a couple that does have it all together right now. So from what we can see is Dempsey Idris and Lori Harvey. There was a video of them kissing and Paris Fashion Week that people went crazy over. And I'm breaking down the relationship. But also a lot of the success that Damson Idris is seeing right now in the box office after Formula F1 broke and some things that he has coming up on the podcast, the latest with Lauren, the Rope Rosa. So go take a listen over there. It's not messy. It's actually a great conversation about love and success.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hit a line, larosa.
Lauren LaRosa
Shut up.
DJ Envy
Shut up.
Lauren LaRosa
You're welcome. This was brought to y' all by Top Dog Law. I might need to call them on you. Any accident, big or small, please call Top Dog Law.
Angela Yee
We come back, we got the mix. Now people have been hitting me and asking how come we haven't been played Notorious B.I.G.
Charlamagne Tha God
right?
Angela Yee
Because the greatest rapper of all time died on March 9. His mother. Actually, Biggie's mom did interview one time and said he and she really dislikes when people celebrate his death.
Charlamagne Tha God
Drock said that, too? Yeah, Drock said that on the rapper.
Angela Yee
Because of that, we stopped doing the Biggie mixes. We stopped playing Biggie on the day of his death. That's the reason why we honored Ms. Wallace and Drock. So, all right, the People's Choice mixes. Up next, it's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, the Breakfast Club.
DJ Envy
Your mornings will never be the same.

Lauren LaRosa
It's DJ Envy.
Angela Yee
Just hilarious. Charlemagne, the guy we are. The Breakfast Club is Women's History Month. Who we honoring today, Jess?
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, we are honoring Delilah Benson from Dead Presidents, played by and Bushe Wright. So Delilah is a pivotal character in the movie. She transitions from a civilian to a member of a militant black power group known as the Nat Turner Cadre. She is Anthony's baby mother, little sister Anthony is played by Lorenz Tate. We know that. And she becomes a part of the crew as the only girl involving herself in the high stakes armored car robbery. She also, she ultimately dies during the escape. But I wanted to honor her because her character represents the radicalization and extreme consequences of the social unjust. No, of the social unjust. Unrest and lack of opportunity for African Americans in the post Vietnam era. So yeah, there you go. Salute to Delilah Benson.
Angela Yee
Salutes again. I was in Miami for the day for one of my friends weddings. Salute to Danny and Emily. He they got married over the weekend and amazing ceremonies. Salute to his congratulations. Who listen every morning. So salute to them. Salute to her parents, her family, their family. They say they listen every morning and they did think I was Dominican because when they started playing the Spanish music, I started getting busy to swap them in.
Charlamagne Tha God
Of course you did, because you really Dominican, you cultural appropriator.
Angela Yee
I am not. I am black. Anybody getting married too. I love love. So salute to them.
Lauren LaRosa
