Big X
Good.
DJ Envy
Who the producer? Who do y'? All? Beach man that need a race?
Big X
Tony Cole and Band Play. It's. I mean, it's a mixture of a. A lot of people, but it's the same team. Okay, but Tony Cole, that's my main guy. Ben played my main guy Charlie, my main guy. And they probably somewhere working.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Big X
Being honest. Somewhere working. Getting to it.
Charlamagne tha God
That was a perfect match. How did y' all get up? Cause it just seemed like. Like y'.
Big X
All.
Charlamagne tha God
His premiere to Gangstar. Like, y' all sound perfectly, man. How did y' all get up?
Big X
I mean, from what he told me, he started making beats because he heard some of my earlier music. So, like, he heard the sample situations I had going, and he just went full throttle into it. And it just so happened he ended up bumping into me, and we've been working ever since. So Band Play, you know, he already was tapped in with Pre Young Dolph, Key Glock, and so I had went on tour with Key Glock and me and Ben Play tapped in, and first beat he sent me was Whip it, and I think that's a platinum song right now.
DJ Envy
So, yeah, you calling this project 6WA. And of course, you hit an NWA influence. What makes this authentic homage and not
Big X
just borrowing from a legendary brand, because we. When we first started, we went all the way back to just like that time, you know what I'm saying? Like it's a scene in the movie where they was just at the studio and the police pulled up and put them all on the floor. Yeah, that's kind of like when we, when we thought of the. When we thought of the theme. When we thought of the theme. That's kind of like what we was going through. I was, I'm. I'm Texas angel right now. And here I am going to jail back to back to back for crazy nonsense. Then you got martyrs who wrote it. He don't, he don't smoke, drink, nothing, but he's getting in trouble, going to jail for nothing. Hood. He just. Everybody got proud. Everybody got prior situations, you know what I'm saying? And it's like they see that we are about to be able to have some type of input and they don't know if it's going to be positive or negative. So they kind of trying to narrate it they self and put this tag on us to kind of keep us from, I guess, prospering. Exactly. And so it's just a bunch of old. Well, we arrested you because you say this in your music and because you move with these people in because. So it's like, okay, but what did I do? Tell me what I did. And they can't. Oh, I'm a gang member. What gang am I in? Well, I don't know. I just know you talk about a lot of gang stuff in your music. Well, I'm talking about my environment and where I came from. So if you can't understand that, if I can go to jail for making money off and talk about what I came from or where he came from or what I've seen growing up and what, what type of. Yeah, I can't be artist then. So that's, that's where it started. But then as it went, we just, you know, when you, when you, when you want to be the good guy so bad, a lot of people make, try to make you the bad guy, you know what I'm saying? And so you got the. It's like a lot of people know that we in the, in the situation, you know what I'm saying? A better situation that can help us and our family. And so they know before this rap stuff, they wouldn't dare say or do none of this stuff they do. But now that they feel like, oh, they, they up there, yeah, they got too much to lose. They ain't got no time. People Say a lot, they do a lot. And we see it, we laugh at it, we never acknowledge it. And it's kind of like now we acknowledging it, you know what I'm saying? Like, we do so much good for the city and for the people and try to put people on, and y' all still want us to be the bad guys. Okay, forget it. Let's do it.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
DJ Envy
What is it about Dallas, though? Because, I mean, it's not like in other parts of Texas. You haven't seen these movements of black men who've gone on to have, you know, this multi million dollar success. What is it about the system in Dallas that wants to keep y' all down, you think?
Big X
I mean, I just feel like we ain't never been in this situation. Like, even if you go back, back to our old rappers, it was never. No, it was never unity. It was always just a select person or a select. You know what I'm saying? And so it just so happened that now all the talent that's in Dallas is being seen and is being heard, but people was already into it in the streets before it even came to the music. So it just, you know what I'm saying? But I'm not gonna lie, right now, Dallas is on a way better Texas, period, is on a way better path. Everybody just. Everybody wants some getting money type situation there. You know what I'm saying? So we've been on that. We just be standing ourselves, you know what I'm saying? So to see other rappers in Dallas, Texas, doing it, it's just like, okay, whether we rubbing off or not, we still going in the right direction because we want to see everybody win. That's everybody right here. We don't. We don't care who you is, whether we know you or not. We want to see you win. So with us seeing the positivity and what's going on in Dallas, I mean, I said it was that, but I think we on a up and at him.
Charlamagne tha God
Of course the hood loves you, right? But I notice a lot with. With Big X to plug is crossover loves you.
Big X
Yeah.
Charlamagne tha God
I was in south by Southwest. You were performing Rolling Stone.
Big X
Yeah.
Charlamagne tha God
So how did that feel when you started seeing it? Step outside of the hood and step outside of your normal.
DJ Envy
Why do white people like you?
Charlamagne tha God
How does it feel? Because it's, you know, I'm looking at the crowd, like in south by Southwest, and you seeing all these white people knowing every lyric.
Angela Yee
I heart festival.
Charlamagne tha God
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Oh, my God, they was going crazy for you. I heart festival.
Big X
I mean, so coming Up. I used to be one of those kids that walked around with the. The mug on his face 24 7. Felt like I had something to prove. Oh, I want to be meaner than you, badder than you, but you six two, 300 pounds, you ain't got. You ain't got to do that. You know what I'm saying? You ain't got to do that. But I actually learned that in jail. I walked into jail thinking I'm Billy Badass, and One of the OGs walked up to me, gave me a bowl in the super sense. Hey, youngster, you ain't got to do that. We. We know you bad. You in jail smile. That's what somebody. A person is gone, either stay away or mess with that person. That look like the. The happy, go lucky person. When they mess with you, they're gonna mess with you, and they're gonna underestimate you. They're gonna think, oh, you're just a funny guy. You ain't got nothing, and you're gonna whip their ass. Or they just not gonna approach you at all. So that's just how I move. And so I guess when it comes to them, I'm smiles and. And so it makes them feel welcome, comfortable. And my dad, I've always been a yes, sir. No, sir. Yes, ma'. Am. No, ma'. Am. And my daddy always told me I was gonna take me a long way. Here we go.
DJ Envy
Grandma told me the same thing. My grandma used to say, manners will take you where money won't.
Big X
No, for sure. For sure. I don't know if that's just some down south of. I don't know. But that's. That's just how I was raised. So, like I said, it got me. It got me here. I'd been in rooms with people that I never thought I'd be in front of, and just me saying, yes, sir and having a firm handshake then got me a far place.
Charlamagne tha God
Now also, I was gonna. I'm sorry, I was gonna ask Independent. So you're not signed to a major. What made you stay independent?
Angela Yee
Yeah, you independent. Through Steve Stout, right?
Big X
Through United Masters.
Angela Yee
United Masters, Yes.
Charlamagne tha God
What made you stay independent? Opposed to.
Big X
We gotta go back to that.
Charlamagne tha God
That laugh was for something. But. Or maybe stay independent.
Big X
So, boom. When I first stepped in. First off, I'm not a rapper. I'm not a.
Charlamagne tha God
So you're not a rapper.
Big X
I'm not. I've become an artist. With me doing this. No, I wasn't even the plug. Like, yeah, I dibbled and dabbled but my dream was I was a football player. I played football my whole life.
DJ Envy
I was gonna ask you why. Why rapping? Not the Cowboys?
Big X
First off, nobody won't play for them
Charlamagne tha God
Cowboys,
Big X
But not yet. Just when I first started off, I was a football player. Like when me and him met, we at the same high school, most scholarships in the school, so that's the type of time I was on. But it's just, you know, when you. You go down that road and certain stuff don't work out for you, you gotta try to figure it out. And I was lost for a long time. And it took for me to have my first kid. And then even when I had my first kid, I still didn't realize you got somebody depending on you. It took me to miss his first birthday for me to really just lock in. And I had to figure something out, what I was doing. I couldn't do no more because I had made promises to my son and I ain't. That's. I can't break that. You know what I'm saying? So I already missed the first birthday. I can't, can't, can't hurt you no more than that. And so it just was a situation where I was just stuck, didn't know what to do. I was doing bad, trying not to do bad. This nigga been rapping since he was 9 years old. And so when I met him, like, just as a. We met as friends before we knew we was related, you know, it was one of those situations where we just doing music and then your daddy see each other and they'd be like, blue, babe, what? You know, that's your cut. It was one of them situations. And so he. Whenever it's like we in high school, we seniors, you know, you don't care about nothing. But as. As a. As a male, you don't care nothing about females, you know what I'm saying? And. And at the time it was going to college, 2016, everybody that was a senior or in high school, you wanted to go to college. And so that's what it was. It was either coochie or college. And that's a song for sure. And while we. We used to have this park that was by my house because I'm 16, 17, my own house. And so we used to all chill at my. Or sometimes we would go walk to the park. When we would go to the park, we with girls. While we all with them girls conversating with them girls. He is the only standing at the top of the slide acting like he performing in front of thousands of people. You know what I'm saying? And so. And so, as time went on and I'm asking my partners, man, what can I do, what I need to do? And for him to say, you need to rap at first. I'm looking, I'm like, bro, you just told me you've been rapping since she was 9 years old. You right here with me still. Are you sure that's gonna work? And he was like, bro, you ain't got nothing else to do. You walk around this getting high, freestyling anyway, you might as well put it to use. And thank God he did. Cause here we here.
DJ Envy
How'd you have that vision, Rosama?
Big X
Shit, it was my vision. I just felt like his voice was something. So it just came about.
DJ Envy
Was rap a dream you always wanted from?
Big X
I mean, football was first, but I've been rapping since I was nine, so second choice.
Angela Yee
Why you didn't want to do it first? Why didn't you want to do it at first?
Big X
Because I was a football player. That's all I knew. Yeah, that's all I knew. Before football, I was just an angry kid. You see what I'm saying? Like, just angry. I can't tell you why. I don't. I don't know. I was just an angry kid. And so whenever I met football, that was just like the first see, telling me I can somebody up and get away with it. I can. I got something I can channel my anger through. And so for the longest, football. Football got me through high school. Football got me through all 16, 17 years of my first. You know what I'm saying? Like, it. Football, my first love. So that's. That's. That's what I saw. I ain't seen nothing other than that. Yeah, not for sure, for sure. I mean, I probably still do. I just, you know, I smoke a lot of weed, so it keep me
DJ Envy
trying to put you on Ritalin when you was little.
Big X
For sure. Yeah. But see, like, when they used to put me on Ritalin, like, they used to give me the full doses. So I'm going to school. Keep in mind, I'm bad. I got anger problems. I slap. We on Breakfast Club. Nah, I ain't. So when I was in elementary school, I slapped my teacher. You see what I'm saying? So, like, that's the type of spiraling I was on. So, like, I just remember I was in elementary school.
DJ Envy
What did the teacher do?
Big X
All right, so I ain't gonna lie. Like, now that I'm older, I'm not gonna say she did nothing. It was just. I just was a. I was a wild child. I was going back and forth with my daddy and my mama. Both my daddy and my mom was selling dope. So it's like, even when I'm with my mom and my daddy, they not really, like, they caring for me, but they not paying attention to me. You see what I'm saying? And so that just kind of was the situation.
Angela Yee
But, yeah, when did it change for you? Like, when did you stop being angry? And so was it the rapping?
Big X
Was it the Ritalin?
Angela Yee
Okay.
Big X
Oh, that's what I was talking about, the Ritalin. So, boom, they put me on Ritalin because they were trying to figure out what the fuck was wrong with me. And they used to give it to me, and I used to go to school and I would just take like two or three desks and lay on them and go to sleep the whole day. But I was so bad, the teachers would be like, it's cool. Like, let that n sleep. For sure.
Charlamagne tha God
Did you ever go back to that teacher and was like, you know what? Let me make right.
Big X
Nah, I don't even remember her name. I just remember, like, I slapped her. I had twisted her ankle. It was a lot of crazy shit. She chased me through the school. She slapped me back, though, for sure. For sure. This was like, right around that time where they had just stopped letting principals paddle kids and shit like that. You see what I'm saying? Like, so, yeah, how old are you?
Angela Yee
What year was this? Cause I don't remember that. So I thought you were like. I was probably, like, more Southern.
Big X
I don't think we were ever able to get paddled. 28.
Angela Yee
Yeah, I don't remember, man.
DJ Envy
Way younger than you, Auntie.
Big X
Shut up. I'm not saying you weren't, like, older than me.
Angela Yee
So I remember paddling king.
Big X
Yeah, Y. Like I said, I was going back and forth from my mom and my daddy. My daddy stayed in East Texas. So East Texas is like, yeah, that's the country. Country. So whenever I went and stayed with him, and I'm in Commerce elementary School, and I got threatened to get paddled, you know what I'm saying? That's. That's where that first came from. You know what I'm saying? So I'm old. This is. This is what's going on. And my daddy was like, yeah, do. Do it. Get him. So I'm like, oh. But then when I go to my mama, it's like, it wasn't that she slapped my Ass back. For sure, though. I slapped her, she slapped me back, and I ran around the school. She chased me.
DJ Envy
I'm so glad. They wanted to put me on rhythm, but my daddy wouldn't let him. Daddy was like, he don't even know, really. He just need his ass beat.
Big X
No, for sure. That used to put me down. And that's what my daddy used to say. Ain't gonna need no riddling. He just need his ass beat.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
And he would come give me, and I'd be right. And then, yeah. It literally took for nine years old, my mama went and drove me all the way to Commerce, Texas, and dropped me off, like, at my daddy, though. Didn't even tell him she was coming or nothing. And she was like, go knock on that door. I go knock on the door. I turn around, my bag's out the car and she pulling off. Turn around. A big six, eight, nigga looking out the door like, yeah. I had been going back and forth with my dad before, but this was like the. This it. My mama couldn't do it no more. Before she took me to my dad house, she drove me to a. Basically a youth penitentiary and was like, get out.
DJ Envy
I was like, early start.
Big X
I'm like, hell, no. No, I'm not getting out. Okay. Bet I got something worse for you then. Took me to my dad.
DJ Envy
Got you right, though.
Big X
No, for sure. That's the best thing she ever did for me.
Angela Yee
So then football, and then you get into music. Thanks for Osama. And then, so what made you go the United Masters way? And I know I mentioned C Star earlier, and you, like, laughed a bit, like, what?
Big X
So I went. Like I said, I look at. I'm a football player. So I looked at everything in a football mindset. So when I first started the music situation, I was like, I don't know nothing about this. I don't know nothing about it. So why would I put myself in a situation that I don't know? I don't like doing nothing. I don't like having. I don't like not having control of not knowing what the. Is going on.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
Like, if I'm in here right now and everybody just get up and start running, I'm gonna get mad because I'm like, why, why? Why? What the. Ain't nobody. Ain't nobody saying and tell me what you running. Of course I'm a run. That's just another instinct. But once we done running and we done sat down, I'm gonna ask you, bro, why the you ain't just tell Me what was going on so I could have knew. You just got me dry running. So that's like. That's me. I just don't. I don't like doing stuff that I don't know what I'm doing. So. And it just. It was crazy. I had a manager at the time. He my uncle. I'm going to tell the real. He ended up getting me 20,000. Damn. You know what I'm saying? Like, now that's not a big amount of money. He's still married to. Man, he ain't not even my. My. My uncle about. Yeah, he my uncle about marriage, but he's still around. We. At the end of the day, I don't really. I was up with him at first, but at the end of the day, it's like, you really saved me. Because he was the one that was like, man, if you. If I feel like if we really just do this, I know you already. He the one who put it in that mindset. Cause he knew I had a football mindset. So he like, look at it as. This is a juco. Like, you don't want to go to no D1 college. And you don't start or you get red shirted. Now you done wasted a year of your life. You done wasted your time. Go somewhere where you can be a factor. Make a name for yourself and your building at the same time. And United Masses was the way.
Angela Yee
And at this time. So like Rosama and all the crew, are they still along with you or you started building that?
Big X
So nobody else was here. It was just me and Ro. Me Ro. What you say? My assistant network. My road manager now. Yeah, it was my day ones. It was just us. I mean, even when I did it, like, to me it was big. But now I look back on it, it wouldn't. The money, the situation, like, it just wasn't. So I'm. I done got me a little with 125 bag. And I'm coming to my people. Like, come on, we going to go to the mall. I'm going to buy y'.
Commercial Announcer
All.
Big X
We going to go crazy. And this one, I knew that they was my real friends because when we got to that mall, they was like, n is you crazy, nigga? Whatever you was gonna buy me. Go buy that. Go, go buy some clothes for your son. Like, go, go do that. I'm good. I'm good. And so that first bag, then nobody touched that but me and my family. And that second bag, my granny told me. My granny, as soon as I got the bag she said, all those boys that been around you and that's been taking care of you and making sure you straight. Bless that game.
Charlamagne tha God
It's dope with Ro, because it was Ro's dream. And you kind of just took it as this is playful effort. And it took off that, you know, you and Ro stay together. Cause I think most people might have felt a little jealous, you know what I mean? Cause this is my dream, this is what I wanted. And you took off before me. So how was that and how weren't you jealous? Cause most artists would have been like, damn, that was my dream. That was my.
Big X
Cause he know I don't want this shit. Yeah, he already know, man. He just doing what he gotta do. I know he gonna get me in the door. And once you get me in the door, is there. Yeah, I'm not. Like I said, I'm not no rap. I don't want to do this forever. I'd rather be a CEO. I'm trying to steal right now.
Angela Yee
Big ass.
Big X
It's too much. Come with it.
Angela Yee
What about it that you. You don't really effort like that. Like, what is it? The main thing? Like, you.
Big X
You ain't with it really. Everything.
Angela Yee
The attention.
Big X
And I. I ain't never. That's never been me. Like, I. Don't get me wrong, in high school, we was the. We was always. But it was just always like. I. I also come from a different. Just background. So it's like you don't really want too many people in your business. Like, everybody in the world know my government name. Half the world know my address on some crazy. Like, it's. It's. That's. That's not me. But then it's also just. This is a very, very, very weird industry. And it's a lot of very, very, very weird people in it.

I'm Bailee Taylor and this is It Girl. You may know me from my It Girl series I've done on the streets of New York over the years. Well, I've got good news. I am bringing those interviews and many more to this podcast. Yes, we will talk about the style and the success, but we are also talking about the pressure, the expectations, and the real work with the women shaping culture right now.
Angela Yee
As a woman in the industry, you're always underestimated. So you have to work extra hard and you have to push the narrative in a way that doesn't compromise who you are and your integrity. You know, I like to say I was kind of like a silent ninja.
Podcast Host (e.g., Bailee Taylor or Lori Siegel)
Each week I have unfiltered conversations with female founders, creatives and leaders to talk about ambition, visibility, and what it really takes to build something meaningful in the public eye. Because being a knit girl isn't about the spotlight, it's about owning it. I think the negatives need to be discussed and they need to be told to people who maybe don't do this every day just so they know what's really going on. I feel like pulling the curtain back is important. Listen to It Girl with Bailey Taylor on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

July 2003 Councilman James E. Davis arrives
DJ Envy
at New York City hall with a guest.
Big X
Both men are carrying concealed weapons, and in less than 30 minutes, both of them will be dead. Everybody in the chambers ducks.
Commercial Announcer
A shocking public murder. I scream, get down. Get down.
Big X
Those are shots. Those are shots.
Commercial Announcer
Get down.
Big X
A charismatic politician.
Commercial Announcer
You know, he just bent the rules all the time.
Big X
I still have a weapon, and I could shoot you.
DJ Envy
And an outsider with a secret.
Big X
He alleged he was a victim of Blackdown. That may or may not have been political. That may have been about sex. Listen to Rorschach. Murder at City hall on the iHeartRadio

I'm Lori Siegel, a longtime tech journalist, and consider my new podcast, Mostly Human, your bridge to the.
Big X
Anyone can now be an entrepreneur. Anyone can build an app, and it's very empowering.
Podcast Host (e.g., Bailee Taylor or Lori Siegel)
Each week, I'll speak to the people building that future, and we're going to break down what all of this innovation actually means for you.
Commercial Announcer
What I come to realize is that when people think that they're dating this AI companion, they're actually dating the companies that create this.
Podcast Host (e.g., Bailee Taylor or Lori Siegel)
We're experiencing one of the greatest tech accelerations in human history. And let's be honest, that can be messy.
Big X
There's no playbook for what to do when an AI model hallucinates a story about you.
Podcast Host (e.g., Bailee Taylor or Lori Siegel)
But it's my belief that we should all benefit from this moment. Mostly Human will show you how. My goal is to give you the playbook so you can benefit.
Commercial Announcer
The reason I say agency is because, like, if we can give power back
Big X
to people, then I think that's probably
Commercial Announcer
the best thing we can do for your mental health.
Podcast Host (e.g., Bailee Taylor or Lori Siegel)
Listen to Mostly human on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows.
Big X
And, yeah, and it's like you either adjust to it or you fall into it. But those people that adjust to it, they the ones that go through it the most because they still trying to stay true to themselves. Those ones that fall into it and dibble and dab, and those be the ones end up doing dope or end up, you know what I'm saying? That ain't. That ain't me, that ain't us.
DJ Envy
Then when I hear you tell a story about the police, I think about, you know, because I always thought it was strange when you had. You had your album release party and went to jail. They locked you up before your album release party. To me, sometimes when I see stuff like that happen in somebody's hometown, that's a humbling. That's Them trying to humble you?
Big X
No, for sure. But it's like, how can you humble somebody who take care of the city? Like, I'm confused. I don't see how you could do that. I'm making a. I'm finna go to an album release for a country album. Not no drill album, not no Shoot Em Up. Bang bang for a country album.
DJ Envy
It's called I Hope youe're Happy.
Big X
I hope you have. Talking about how I'm hurt and. And here y' all is taking me to jail for. They pulled me over for. Because my plate wasn't in my. On the front of my car. Keep in mind, I got all. You know what I'm saying? Fancy vehicles with the. I like drilling holes in the front of my. I got the back one up though, but overstood this rule. They checked my car. I got my gun. In Texas, you can carry your gun. Somewhere between the last three or four times I had got locked up for unlawful care. That have all been beat by the way they put a. They. They labeled me as a high ranking gang member. Didn't tell me, didn't tell my. My attorneys nothing. So as a gang member, you can't have a gun. That is considered unlawful carry. So here I am traveling with a gun, thinking I'm doing the right thing. It's hosted right. Put up right. And I go to jail because I'm a high ranking gang member. That's crazy. And then you ask them what gang? And they say, you tell me. So it's like, that's just a situation you can't win.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
DJ Envy
So what does the six represent to you?
Big X
600. So boom. 600 to me is a block. Like that's. That's the block that I started from. Like, yeah, I'm from Pleasant Grove, which is the hood. But that's not where I jumped off the porch. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna. I ain't jump off the portion in the Grove. Yeah, I stayed there. I was born at this, that and the other. I jumped off the portion of Ferris Texas, 600 block. That's where I started doing my. You know what I'm saying? So that's what I claim. That's what I rip. That's what I. When I started ripping. That's one of my biggest hood videos I shot in the middle of the hood. So to me, that's just my neighborhood. That's my block. When that's that, I just made it into something bigger. You know what I'm saying something that could mean more.
DJ Envy
So is it 600 with attitude or nice?
Big X
So it's. It's either 600 with attitude or Sixers with attitude. We call ourselves Sixers. It's like a. Well, you know, like the 76ers. We sixes. I heard that.
DJ Envy
I was like, oh, they're not gonna like that in Toronto. Drake not gonna like that one. Toronto's the Six. Call themselves Six or still.
Big X
No, I think we going to be good. I stay out his way. Stay out my way.
Angela Yee
How long the rest of y' all been doing music?
Ro (Artist/Producer)
You know what I've been doing the music for? I'm probably like nine, eight years old.
Big X
So then tell them your age.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
I'm 35.
Angela Yee
You 35. And, baby girl, eight years now. Yeah. It's 2018.
DJ Envy
You ain't tell the lady. You ain't tell the lady. Say, tell them your age. You know better. You got some ass now. You don't have to ask a lady.
Big X
I been making music since, like, 2017.
Charlamagne tha God
Mm, you brother like, 2020. 2020.
Big X
Yeah.
Charlamagne tha God
Now, you also said that the industry was weird. So what's the weirdest thing that you seen in the industry that you was like, nah, this ain't for me.
DJ Envy
Diddy party.
Big X
Nah, I ain't never been to a diddy party, but I definitely wanna go to one. But, like, not on. Like, they said it's like three different stages.
Angela Yee
Yeah, please explain. Go ahead. Cause I know what you mean.
DJ Envy
She's been there before.
Big X
You used to work the diddy party.
Angela Yee
I work here. Well, okay.
Big X
She said I work here.
Angela Yee
Explain the stages and then I'll explain.
Big X
Well, I don't. I've never been, so I can't really. I'm just going based off of what I've heard. But I heard, like, the. It's like the. The first step is the meet and greet. Everybody shaking hands, meeting each other. The second one. The second one is where you kind of like start removing the. You know what I'm. Hey, it's gonna go down. You might wanna leave. Yeah, yeah, that's. That's like. That's. That's like the end of the second quarter. You know what I'm saying?
Angela Yee
Yeah. The end of the second quarter.
Big X
And then that third. That third quarter is. Yeah, yeah.
DJ Envy
I didn't used to DJ him. He acting all quiet over there.
Angela Yee
I've just been to, like, a regular.
Big X
I mean, I wouldn't say I DJ'd a diddy party either, because that mean you DJ butt naked. You don't. I Did not do.
Charlamagne tha God
But what's the weirdest thing that you've seen that you was like, nah, this industry ain't for me.
Big X
I mean, if we being honest, I kind of like, I'm a reader, you know what I'm saying? Like, I saw. I can kind of notice if you weird or not before I even. You know what I'm saying? So I kind of. That keep me out of situations. And what keep me out of a lot of situations is I don't go nowhere by myself.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
So, like, anywhere I go, I take them. And so that kind of. It saved me in a lot of situations. So, like, when Grammy parties and be coming, they'd be like, oh, it's all white party. It's gonna be live. I'll be like, all right, bit I can bring my people, right?
Angela Yee
Just you even at your point, your level right now.
Big X
Yeah, for sure.
Angela Yee
What?
Big X
That's how I know they be doing crazy in there trying to get me alone. Because there's certain parties where they'd be like, oh, yeah, bet. Come on. Oh, yeah, you're good. And then it's. It's always the parties that's a color white, all gray party. You know what I'm saying? Like, those are the ones where they like, oh, no, it's just you. No, I'm straight. I'm good. I don't need to go there.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
DJ Envy
How is it right when you got your crew with you? Because they always say, make sure you get yourself through the day because, you know, you. You travel. Travel light, you travel far.
Big X
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Has it been harder trying to bring your whole squad? What? You trying to put the whole Dallas on?
Big X
Honestly? Yes, but I mean. I mean, that's what happens when you think you're Superman. You know what I'm saying? It's part of it.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
DJ Envy
So how do you make sure you building a movement and not just a
Big X
moment shit like this? We all got these goddamn Lettermans on. Like, we've been wearing black for like seven months. Like, we just like, no bullshit. Ready to put some colors on. He said, I'm ready to put some colors on. These two are like the stylish ones they wear. Vibrant, baggy. You know what I'm saying? Like, they do that shit. And so it's hurting them right now.
Angela Yee
What's the significance of the moving in all black and in unison, just from a product perspective, just for one.
Big X
Just to show that we all on the same type of tone.
Angela Yee
Unity.
Big X
Yeah, exactly. And then for, like I said six wa. I mean, sixes with Attitude. I feel like you can't wear pink or blue in and say, oh, we got attitude. You can't do that. Like if you do, you gotta say it like that. We got attitude. You can't do that. You know what I'm saying? So we just. Yeah, we all black. Yeah.
Angela Yee
Outside of just like, I can do it too. What do you want people to take from the movement that you're building?
Big X
Kind of just like I said, just going back to the original things. Like, because at the end of the day, it's a certain thing is freedom of speech and like that. So it's like we can't. Even though we shouldn't be having to point back at those things because I mean, they in the constitute. Like they in. You know what I'm saying? Like, this is in big ass books in the White House and that we all learned all through school. And now y' all telling me that I'm a registered gang. I'm a high ranking registered gang member of no gang. Because of what I'm saying in my raps that go back to the whole Young Thug case. They ended up playing out his music and so on and so on. Can't do that.
Angela Yee
I see you guys. Snoop and DLC on the album, how that came. How did the collaborations come about?
Big X
We just knew we needed, like, we can't. We couldn't do like a. A West coast themed project and not have validation from the West Coast. I mean, but DLC is not for sure, for sure. So we went Snoop first. Snoop. And he was the one that was like, man, y' all gotta get dlc, man. Be from Dallas. I mean, they. We had like, some of my people had already spoke on it, but I was just like, we need somebody that's gone. Cause I know DLC not from the west, you know?
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
So I'm like, nah, we need somebody that's West Coast. But when we talked to Snoop and Snoop was like, you gotta get dlc. That's. He is exactly what y' all doing. And so it was just a given. He got that raspy voice on there. Yeah, he did what he had to do.
DJ Envy
What type of inspiration did the DLC provide for y' all coming up or that way too? That's two before y' all turn.
Big X
Yeah, I was gonna say that's. That's more his era. That ain't my era.
Angela Yee
You got him wearing black, talking about. Thank you.
Big X
That was not my era.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
But the DLC like I grew up on, I know, I know about it. You know what I'M saying, the formula. And so, like, I was just. I had just. I had broken it up to Bro. Like, we should bring. You know, because he's from Oak Cliff, Texas, you know what I'm saying?
Big X
He's.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
Same thing how Ro was doing with. Helping with the. With the writing. So some of them greatest tracks that you ever heard was because of Bro, you know what I'm saying?
Big X
Yeah.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
So, like, it all. It all come in in the order, you know what I'm saying? From we just going off, like, that's. That's where it come from, the laws with us being arrested for nothing. Just like how they was arrested, Bro. I've been arrested. Just chilling because the police is just attacking us, you know what I'm saying? My brother being attacked right now. All of us in some type of fashion or form, you know what I'm saying? So we just getting on the track and telling them what the. They don't want to hear. Like, going against the grain. Either hate it or love it. Y' all already going against it anyway,
DJ Envy
you know, how do y' all develop your own identities, right? Because, you know, Big X, he got. He definitely got his own wave. He got his sound. How do y' all develop y' all own identities?
Ro (Artist/Producer)
Should we just start doing this? You know what I'm saying? It's. We feed off each other, you know what I'm saying? So, like, like, me, I feel like I'm.
Big X
I don't write nothing, so I just
Ro (Artist/Producer)
go in there and do what I do. Rose, like, he won with the ideas. Like, the 6wa song is how he came. You know, it was. It was on Rose. That's why. Probably why he came in so hard. Like the. He came in on her, you know what I'm saying? He studied. He looking. He really looking to the history of the music, you know what I'm saying? And treat it like class, you know? So, like, really, we just got our own style. We don't look at this competition. We just do us. And, like, Bro just came and hit, you know, helped, you know what I'm saying? Like, when I met Bro before, he. Right before he had dropped the Texas song, and he just told me he was gonna come get me, and he kept his word.
Big X
Wow.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
You know what I'm saying?
Charlamagne tha God
So how does the writing work? I know one time you were talking about the largest, and you were saying Ro helped you with that. So is it a cumulative effort where y' all all get in there and throw ideas at each other?
Big X
Wait, can you say that one More time.
Charlamagne tha God
I know they did an interview one time, and you were saying, ro help with the largest. We're helping writing hooks. So when y' all recording, do y' all all in the studio together throwing ideas against the wall?
Big X
Oh, yeah. We literally get a big ass house somewhere. Ducked off and maybe 12, 13 bedrooms. All my artists, all my producers, my A Rs, we all just stay in the same house. We wake up, go to sleep together, and we just vibe whatever happened together, nobody was taking that role. I'll let you know and let you know where his mind at. And I also want to let y' all know, he had me in the bathroom trying to reverse my draws. Cause he done told me my drawers was inside out.
Angela Yee
Come on, come on.
Big X
Hey, but wait, wait, wait. I need. But wait, wait, wait. So you not gonna clear that one up, bro. What show what that means outside the
Angela Yee
bathroom when you got here.
Big X
Yeah. So what that mean? That mean he was looking at my ass, right? And this is my cousin. Hey, this nigga crazy. I don't know what he talking about.
DJ Envy
Just your drawers on.
Big X
It was crazy. No, no, no, no, no. Yeah, I'm a big nigga. I bent over the top of my shoes probably came out. Yeah, but they wouldn't, though. I done went to the bag, and I'm a big nigga, so you know what I'm saying? I done went there. I had to take my shoes off, man. I done went there, took my shoes off. I done took my pants all the way off. Now, I thought about it. I said, I can't just leave my pants right here on the flow, cuz. They going to think something going on. So now I'm holding my pants while I'm trying to check my jaws. I don't want to take my jaws all the way off. Was it a mirror in there? No, I'm.
Angela Yee
I'mma tell you this about the star with it, cuz.
Big X
How did you see I'm flexible?
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
I looked between my leg. I pulled my draws down. Look between my legs. I can see if the tag.
DJ Envy
Why you just ain't ask roof why you say? Yo, they all right.
Big X
Nah.
DJ Envy
Hey, y' all is crazy. Y brothers, man.
Big X
That's crazy.
DJ Envy
If you can tell him that his drawers inside out, you can tell him.
Big X
Somebody told me I was just so. So now somebody else looking at my ass. And that's my cousin. The message, bro. You see what I'm saying? That's my cousin. He didn't protect me. That's crazy. You let them look at my ass and then he proceeded to look at my ass with him.
DJ Envy
Damn.
Big X
No, I did it. I just told you. That's like you having a boogie in your nose. Hey, it's a booger.
DJ Envy
You know, it's trying to make sure he's straight.
Big X
You shouldn't even be looking below my waist to even see that. My draw. I didn't. I relayed the message. That's something. Like when I. That's something you get. You get in trouble about when you got it. And I know what's crazy. I got scared like he was my woman or something. You got it, bro. I got scared like he was my woman. What, you mean my drop? No, no, my job. I don't know where he talking about.
DJ Envy
Listen, is this a family or a business? Because. Because the reason I asked that, it can't be both without conflict.
Big X
It's been a lot of conflict.
Charlamagne tha God
Okay, what's been the biggest conflict?
Big X
Oh, no, I mean, it's just. I mean, 600 NT is a. It's a upand cominging label. It's not a Atlantic. It's not a. You know what I'm saying? It's we. I'm literally building this from the ground up, damn near by myself. You see what I'm saying? So it's not gonna happen overnight. It's not gonna happen in a week, but it's happening. You know what I'm saying? And so I kind of. Everybody that's right here, they didn't come here because they got the biggest bag or because they got the best song or they came here because they believed in the process. And what I was telling them, you know what I'm saying? You could tell it's authentic, and it's not. No, I don't. Listen, I. I got money, gang. I don't need none of y' all money. I don't. You can ask him. His first deals, publishing deals. I didn't take nothing from it. I don't. I don't want nothing from it. That's not my goal. My goal is to get you out of here.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Big X
Like I said, at the end of the day, the only thing I'm gonna get out of it is the fact that I'm a CEO.
Charlamagne tha God
But does your artist know that it's patience? Like, because it could take a year
Big X
or it could take some of them.
Charlamagne tha God
Some of them know, but, you know.
Big X
Yeah, some of them know.
Charlamagne tha God
The biggest.
Big X
We had to rock.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
I wrote, Man, 12 deepest sprinters, head to foot, sock dirty socks.
Big X
Before he even got signed. No, that was after I Signed you? No, no, that was before you got signed for sure. Rolling with me. Like I said, rose with me for two, three years before I even made the label. Two, two. The whole way. No.
Angela Yee
Kane, how you being the only female? How does that. How does that make you feel sometimes? Is it a lot of pressure? Cause all these heavy hitter spitters, like, how do you feel being only female?
Charlamagne tha God
Kane, you gotta go to the mic. I'm sorry. Kane, you gotta come to the mic.
Big X
K. Sorry.
Angela Yee
I wouldn't say it's a lot of pressure. I would basically say, like, hold on, you gotta go.
Charlamagne tha God
Come closer to the mic.
Angela Yee
Hey, Nick, that's my big brother.
Big X
That's my big brother. She's shy.
Angela Yee
Okay. So I wouldn't say it's a lot of pressure. I would say they all helped me in some type of way to push me to be better. Because there's a lot of female rappers out here. Yeah. And there's competition, but, you know, I don't really see competition too much. But, yeah, I wouldn't say it's. I wouldn't say it's hard or anything like that.
DJ Envy
I thought you was gorilla on the who Done it record. You thought I was gonna really well say. Cause you kept saying her name or am I tripping?
Angela Yee
I said gorilla.
DJ Envy
Gorilla. Okay. I was confused.
Big X
She just. She just from Louisiana. So it's. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's fake.
DJ Envy
What kind of. What kind of boss is. What kind of boss are you? Big X. Cause everybody want to be easy E. But not everybody know how to run
Big X
a label for sure. What type of. I'm a boss that. And it. Sometimes it fuck me because I'm a boss that wear his heart on his sleeve and that move with his heart. Every decision I make, I do it with my heart. Sometimes before my brain. And now they kind of put me in positions. But hey, like I said, I'm. I'm here. I'm built for it. Got gotta be.
DJ Envy
So what kind of boss y' all think he is?
Ro (Artist/Producer)
I think he's a good boss. Yeah.
Big X
That's out there, man. That sucked, bro. I'm just saying, see, you know what I'm saying? But see, you. You. You have to do that. We could have left where it was at.
DJ Envy
What you say? You think he a good buff?
Ro (Artist/Producer)
Yeah, like I say, you know what I'm saying? We was just running to each other, just so, you know, outside the. He didn't have to. It's a million he. That he got around the studio that we Met at probably.
Big X
I don't know.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
I can't tell you how many was up there recording.
Big X
He met a lot of.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
Before me. Well, you know, I don't know if it was just he seeing my work after what I was doing on my
Big X
own or whatever, but. Yeah.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
And for somebody even just to keep their word. Shit, bro had a lot of shit going on. Bro was doing very well for himself. So for him to remember and the way he even did it, you know what I'm saying? Then he ain't tell me shit. You know what I'm saying? Invited me to a show, popped out, and was like, welcome to new artists. You know what I'm saying?
Charlamagne tha God
How often do y' all fight? You a role fight? Cause y' all seem like y' all brothers. Like, y' all could get into a tussler, and then y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Big X
Back in the day. Yeah. Hey, I ain't gonna lie. We probably would have killed each other back then, but now it's like, we don't. We hardly ever disagree.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
Yeah.
Big X
Cause it was like, nah, that's Cap. That's Cap. We don't get it too far off. No bullshit. We ain't argued in, like. Like, fighting argued in a long, long time. Like, years. But that's. Cause we. Like, we know each other now. Like, I know when he trying to push my buttons. He know when I'm trying to push his. I know when he bullshitting. He know when I'm bullshitting. Yeah. We just know each other now. So it's. Yeah.
Angela Yee
Now that you are, like, you know, responsible for all of their. Not responsible, but you're in a position where you brought them in. What are you teaching them about business on the back end that you had to learn yourself because you came in independent.
Big X
I mean, really, it's kind of. I feel like it's a given because I'm not moving as. And this is probably a downfall for me. I'm not moving as a
DJ Envy
label.
Big X
A label?
DJ Envy
You don't have them signed, basically.
Big X
No, they're signed, but, like, sure, okay. But, like, I just. Like, when you sign to a label, get a publisher deal, you get pieces of that. I don't. I ain't did that.
Angela Yee
I'm taking nothing from that.
Big X
Yeah. Like, I literally am. I see myself as a opportunist, I guess. Like, I'm just the person to put you in front of these people for you to steal the show. Like, even with this. Like, yeah, this might be for me, but I'm hoping one of them steal the show because that's gonna help me out in the long run over. You know what I'm saying? I don't. Yeah.
DJ Envy
Are you prepared for the politics that come with putting all these different egos under. Under one umbrella?
Big X
I gotta be all right. Gotta be. So it might bother me at the beginning, but that's what. When you're doing something that you're uncomfortable with, it's part of it. Gotta do it to you comfortable.
DJ Envy
And another thing, too, you got to be one of these guys that, like, you should hope one or all of them blow up to be bigger than,
Big X
you know, for sure.
DJ Envy
You see a lot of people, they not secure enough to let that happen.
Big X
No, for sure. Like, I. I'm not no rapper. I just figured out how to be an artist. I don't too much as of right now. My kids can go to any college in the world they want to and will be straight after that. That's what I cared about. That's why I do everything I do. I don't give a fuck about rapping shows. I love my fans, but they know this nigga don't want to do this shit. You know what I'm saying?
Angela Yee
You do it so well.
Big X
I appreciate you. I appreciate you.
Angela Yee
I saw that there was this video, your Rolling Stone interview, and they were asking you about, like, why you do music. He was like, I just want to take care of my kids. And people thought that that was like, oh, my God. I'm like, that's. It makes sense. Like, you should want to take care of your family. But I saw people in the comments being like, he gets it. Like, he's focused. I don't know why that was such a profound thing. Like, it should be the focus.
Big X
I mean, as much as. I mean, I'm pretty sure everybody that got kids here that are fathers, that have baby fathers or husbands, and y' all are pretty goddamn good at y' all job, you know what I'm saying? Like, y' all are doing what y' all doing for y' all kids. A lot of people don't do that. And I was almost one of those people because, remember, I told y' all I had my son and I still didn't realize my purpose. Yeah, it took for me to. It took for me to have to video call him on his first birthday for me to be like, damn, somebody really dependent on me. Like, it's somebody else out here other than me. Like. Like, yeah, you know, I got my mama, I got. But these are the same people that told me, you know, at this point in Time, which is understandable. Like you're not on the right path. You ain't gonna be. You're not doing the right to be. So and so. It like when you got that and then it's like you got a kid, it just. I don't know, it's just different. So. But with me saying that, it's also not common. Fathers being good fathers.
DJ Envy
Gotta break the cycle.
Big X
Exactly. And you still want more.
Angela Yee
No, you said you want seven kids.
Big X
My daddy got. Who got seven kids.
Angela Yee
No, I said you said you wanted seven kids. That was jingle bowl thing.
Big X
No, no, no, I was finna say I did. I don't know about them other ones, but no, I want more than seven. I want a big family. I grew up in a big family, like even on both sides. Like, used to love going to family reunions. Even though family reunions is only when like that one person that hold the family together died. But it's like I used to love going to them because it's like, man, I got family all over the world that's just here. Like, I got cousins I ain't seen in years, now that's here. And it's the same thing with my. Like right now I got a. I got a big ass house. 10 people staying there comfortably. My mama, my granny, my sisters, both my sisters, my brother, my daughters, my old lady, her kids. Because that's where I come from. I come from everybody waking up together on Christmas. Like, whether you. They're not. Everybody just had granny house, you know what I'm saying? So that's what, that's, that's what I'm on. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's what I'm. I'm trying to rebuild, rebrand. I'm trying to leave my name in a. In a.
DJ Envy
In a.
Big X
In the green area, if that makes sense.
DJ Envy
So what does success look like for six wa? Is it streams? Is it money? Is it cultural impact? Like, what y' all want this project to do?
Big X
I wanted to do different things for certain people. For one, this project was not for me. I didn't do this project to be a big bigger artist or. Oh, this is a good. No, I did everything that I did on this project for them. And so like boom. GB and Kane, they only got one song on the, on the whole project. They. When that whole motherfucker go gold or platinum, they still gonna get that plaque. That's an accolade that look good when them publishing companies and come. You see what I'm saying? So that's so that's what. In their case, that's what it is. And it's also gonna be a. A great rubber band launch for them. It's their first song. I mean, well, me and. Me and GB already dropped the song, but it's still gonna be on the table. She's gonna give it an extra push, push it further than what it did. The song I got with Kane is just gonna be, like, I said, that rubber band push for her with Ro.
DJ Envy
Like, eight, nine songs.
Big X
Yeah, but Ro. I mean, when it first started, it was just me, Ro, Hood, and pb. I just signed Kane and gb I just signed it, like, what, a couple months ago? Yeah. So it ain't been that long. But so when we did the project, that was a big situation, too, because they was like, man, you know, this. This project means something to us. You sure you want to just throw them on it? And I was like, man, y' all right. Y' all right. But then I thought about it. I'm like, at the end of the day, this is. I mean, even though we had what we had going, our plan for, we could still do that. But it's not. Just like I said, I'm not just doing this for me. Yeah, I'm not just doing this for you. I'm not just doing this for you. I'm doing this for everybody in the label. And so that's what we're doing. But with Ro, like I said, Ro is. Ro is literally at the hump, and I think this is gonna. I know this is gonna throw him over the hump. We even dropped. What? It's three, four songs off the project already up. Project number 18. Hip hop albums right now ain't even now.
Ro (Artist/Producer)
We 17, right?
Big X
17. My fault. And if we're being honest, it's probably because of 6 WA. Mr. Well, it's the lokester, because AS is going crazy.
Angela Yee
That's my favorite one on the album. Fire.
DJ Envy
I like that. Safe to say that's. That's the one that y' all flip like. It's a. Today was a good day, right?
Big X

DJ Envy

Big X

Angela Yee

Big X

DJ Envy

Big X
Like.
DJ Envy
Was cool.
Big X
It was cool. It's just. I feel like, you know, a lot of people don't really. They're not. They're not actually listening to words. You know what I'm saying? It's like we telling story all the way through. We literally tell the story of our. Our day before the sixth party, and a lot of people not gonna listen to that. You Know what I'm saying? They wanna. They want something that's gonna catch their attention, whether it's a catchy hook or a certain bar. We literally just. You know what I'm saying? Kind of talking, telling the story, and a lot of people might not like it. You know what I'm saying? So. Yeah, but that was just. I feel like that was something we put on there just because of the thing. Nah, I feel like he had a good ear because he.
DJ Envy
It's like.
Big X
It's the song that carry up to 6 of party. No, for sure. So I feel like he understand it.
DJ Envy
That's why. That's why I shocked.
Big X
That's why it shocked me. I'm like, damn, you like that?
Angela Yee
He was around when the Internet was cool.
DJ Envy
I was. I was. But not a regular office. You know, it give you that it was a good day feel. And then after hearing the story about how police be harassing y' all all the time, it make perfect sense. And then going in the Sixer party with Snoop, I'm like, oh, okay. They got to the party safe. All right.
Big X
For sure. For sure. Damn, that's crazy.
