Every day I wake up, wake your ass up. The Breakfast Club. Y' all finished or y' all done?
DJ Envy
Morning everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne Tha God we are the Breakfast Club. Lauren Laros is here as well.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, indeed.
DJ Envy
We got a special guest in the building.
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely.
DJ Envy
She walked in Here. Like, she could body slam all of us this morning.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, she could.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know where she from.
DJ Envy
Ladies and gentlemen, Tiffany Addis.
Tiffany Haddish
Good morning. Good morning, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning, Tiff.
DJ Envy
Congratulations. She also brought the COVID I should say Sports Illustrated magazine with her on the COVID Yes, me, which is pretty, pretty goddamn dope. Congratulations.
Host
First comedian ever to do so, right?
Tiffany Haddish
Yes. First comedian ever. Ye. You next.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you, baby.
Tiffany Haddish
You next.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you. I smell it up there.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, get it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is that what she want, though? Cause you've been manifesting it, Tiffany.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I've been wanting this since the 1900s.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wow.
Tiffany Haddish
When I used to run track and field, I wanted to be in Sports Illustrated for track and field. I thought I was gonna be. I thought I would be Flo Jo. Like, yes, I'm gonna be just like her. And I'm gonna be in the Olympics. But then that didn't pan out. But the dream never went away. The dream never went away. So.
Charlamagne Tha God
So what did being on the COVID of Sports Illustrated swimsuit that you mean for Tiffany Haddish, the woman, not the celebrity, but you, the woman that I
Tiffany Haddish
can do anything if I believe in it. If I believe enough, anything is possible. No matter what people say, how fat I might be, or how whatever I might be, if I believe in it and I'm willing to take action every single day towards the thing I believe in, I'm gonna get it. That's why I'm here now.
DJ Envy
What did it take to get to that level? Because, I mean, you're cut up. Crazy. We're looking at the COVID right now.
Lauren LaRosa
Yes.
Host
Yeah.
DJ Envy
What was the training like, bro?
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't like something where you said cut up. I don't like the way you said cut up like that.
Tiffany Haddish
She's cut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
You heard how you said it, right? You cut up crazy. And then when she walked in, like,
Tiffany Haddish
I've been out here to get to that body. I wish. Talk about the workout. That body would be a lot thicker, a lot bigger. It'd be a lot more going on double workout. Look, I. I don't like going to the gym personally. I kind of ha. Dated. So, like, I'm very like, particular. So intermittent fasting whenever and also whenever I feel like I'm hungry, like, oh, I want to eat something, drink water, wait 20 minutes. If I'm still hungry after that, then I need to actually eat a meal, not just be eating on crap.
DJ Envy
Now the Fasting is at 12 to 8.
Tiffany Haddish
Fast.
DJ Envy
What's the time?
Tiffany Haddish
Is the fact. It's basically I don't eat till like 12 o' clock in the afternoon, 12 to 1 o', clock, and then stop eating around 9, 10 o' clock at night.
Lauren LaRosa
And then.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, let give my body a chance to, like, process everything and give a little time between each meal too. Drink my weight in water. So however much I weigh, if for every pound, I weigh an ounce of water for every pound. Every time I go to the bathroom, because I drink my weight in water, I gotta use the bathroom a lot. So 25 squats every time I go to the toilet. Basically every single time. So I come out the bathroom, heavy breathing, but that.
DJ Envy
So you go to the bathroom, then you do squats on the side.
Tiffany Haddish
Do squats right off the toilet. Because the toilet is usually the perfect height for a squat, right? Boom. And as soon as your thighs hit that seat, boom, pop back up, right? So you hit that 25 times. Way easier in high heels than it is in flats. Way easier to do in the middle of the day than it is first thing in the morning. But if you do it first thing in the morning, it activates everything. And your thighs is like your second heart, Right.
Lauren LaRosa
Then when you do it in heels, you strengthen the calf muscle.
Tiffany Haddish
Baby. Them toes getting strong. Hello.
Lauren LaRosa
Hello.
Tiffany Haddish
Hello. Okay. And then once a week, I go to this thing called the Perfect Workout, where you do lift heavy weights and it's in slow motion. And I found it on Groupon, and it's crazy because it's mostly. I did. I found it on Groupon, and it's mostly elderly people in there. So then. Then I'm, like, talking to them every now and then, getting advice, getting knowledge. So it's like now my brain growing because I'm learning from the. From my elders. Right. And then. And then once a week, I'll do Pure Bar, which is like, you know, like Pilates and ballet mixed together.
DJ Envy
So you work out once a week.
Tiffany Haddish
Heavyweights.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's it.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, once a week. Heavyweights.
DJ Envy
Wow.
Tiffany Haddish
But every day I wear my weighted vest, which is £20. So when I walked my dog, I was wearing the weighted vest. When I was washing my dishes, mopping my floors, cleaning house, I wear my weighted vest. When I'm gardening, I wear my weighted vest. And that's it.
Charlamagne Tha God
How much did you have to lose?
Tiffany Haddish
How much did I have to lose? Yeah, for the COVID shit, I was like 145 right there.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
Okay. Yeah.
Host
Earlier, did you say people were saying you were fat? Did you say that?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, yeah, they were saying fat, pregnant, all kind of shit, you know, few years ago. Mm. That was amazing.
Host
I mean I feel like you can
Tiffany Haddish
google that they was trying to call me pregnant and all of that.
DJ Envy
I got one more question before you do this workout. And what did you eat? What were your meals like?
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, my meals. Okay, so basically try to eat meat once a day and then like a lot of vegetables, a lot of fruit. Shut up, shut up.
Charlamagne Tha God
What is your problem?
DJ Envy
You gotta eat meat. So you're looking at me, but go ahead.
Tiffany Haddish
You do kinda. You need your protein, but you can get that through beef and all that too. And. And then I would eat a lot out of my garden. So like, like off my own land. Which give me like a little sense of pride. Yeah, that like. And I will always feel full. Like I break my fast by eating berries from my backyard and I feel like, yeah, my berries, my thing, you know, like these night, you know, just feeling good about that. So also making sure you have like a feeling, a sense of like joy every day. It really helps a lot. Being stressed out every day really adds the lbs and really like messes your skin up. Message your body up that too much cortisol. So just soon as I feel my stress levels going up, I'm going to try to make sure I laugh or do something that make me feel good. Even if it's just like just walking around barefoot in the backyard or going to mess with my bees or something like that. Like just being in the sun. Just change it up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I see you going. You are going is bright.
Tiffany Haddish
I really. You see my aura. Cuz that might be the shape butter reflecting off of this beautiful brown skin. That's a shape. But
DJ Envy
Lauren, I'm sorry.
Host
Oh no. I was gonna say the only pregnancy rumors I remember was when you and Jason Lee did that photo thing and people thought that was like a thing.
Lauren LaRosa
But no, before that.
Tiffany Haddish
No, before that. Like in like 2017. When was Cardi B pregnant? Cause they was trying to say I was pregnant too.
Charlamagne Tha God
Shoot. She done been pregnant what, three weeks?
Tiffany Haddish
A gang of times. I feel like every time she pregnant they be trying to say I'm pregnant, but nah, Yes, a while ago. But also in 2019 also when I was in that relationship, they was trying to say I was pregnant then all of that. Yeah, in the last relationship I was in, his mama was trying to tell me I was pregnant. I was like, girl, you got me messed up. I would never. Not with your son. But anyway.
Charlamagne Tha God
The mama said that to you?
Lauren LaRosa
Maybe she was trying to manifest something.
Tiffany Haddish
Maybe, maybe.
Host
Maybe this was another relationship after the other relationship.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I've had many girl Please, that was four years ago.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know.
Lauren LaRosa
That's right.
Tiffany Haddish
That's four years ago. I'm a beautiful woman. I don't know if you know this. I'm a swimsuit model. No, I'm not a cover swimsuit model at that.
Host
You just been keeping things real low key. A bit.
Tiffany Haddish
A low key bit. Ish. Girl, I've been dating the same way I've been dating for the last. Like, I've been dating for what, 25 years, 30 years? Yeah, so I date the same way. Just it ain't everybody business. I've dating everybody like their drug dealers. You know what I'm saying? Everybody like their drug dealers. I learned my lesson from that last one. Don't tell nobody nothing. Just date everybody like they drug dealers. He might be here today, he might be gone tomorrow. Everybody like they selling dope.
Charlamagne Tha God
A good time, not a long time. How did it feel when you first
Tiffany Haddish
saw the COVID I was. It felt like such an honor. I felt like, first of all, I feel like I look like my grandma. She was a model and my grandma was a model back in the 1900s and 50s. She was one of the first black women in the state of California to be on TV modeling clothes and swimsuits and all of that. And I remember she used to teach us. I used to be showing us how to pose and how to sit like a lady and how to, you know, all the little model stuff. But as I, you know, my sisters and brothers got taller than me. She's like, oh, you're not gonna be a model. You didn't get tall enough. It's not gonna work out for you. There's other things you can do. And she was right. And. But I always wanted to be like her. I always wanted to be beautiful like her and be a model like her. And, you know, you the funny girl. They always say, oh, funny, pretty girls can't be funny. Ain't no way you could be a model. Only the kind of model you could be is a, you know, sex model. You could be on some kind of porn or something like that, but you can't be no model model. And these last, I would say, three years, I've been literally manifesting hardcore. I mean, I popped up in that fashion show. Kathy Hilton knew that this is something I wanted to do. She knew that my grandmother was a model. She. She knew all these things. So she's like, just do it. Just start moving towards it. Like, jump up in the show and, you know, black community, ah, she bringing disgrace to us. Whatever. I'M living my dream. Okay. That same company that I jumped up in, they show. They hired me, their next fashion show, to actually walk in the show. Nobody talked about that. Nobody talked about me getting hired to walk in the show. Yeah, they hired me. Yeah, Monse hired me. And then they gave me a bunch of clothes to wear for my whole comedy tour. And so I was wearing elegant dresses the whole damn tour. You know, it was Oscar de la Renta. And Monse was dressing me the whole tour.
Lauren LaRosa
We saw the dresses, remember, we didn't know where they were from. That's what's up, y'.
Tiffany Haddish
All. So they were. They were dressing me. So then that. That felt really good. And then it was like, if I could do that, then I definitely could do the swimsuit model thing. And. And I did it.
Host
So, two questions. Your relationship with the Hiltons, with Kathy Hilton. Like, what's the background of the relationship? Like, how did y' all meet each other?
Tiffany Haddish
I met Cathy through Paris, and I met Paris through these streets. And me and Paris, we get along really well, and we got a lot in common. Cause she been through a lot of the same kind of stuff I've been through. Like, while she might be rich and all this, and her parents are like, you know, she's an heiress and all of this, they still put her in a camp that still treated her like how they treat foster kids. And she went through. And when we bonded on that and been, like, super close ever since. And, yeah, she teaches me a lot about making money. Like I want. That's the only kind of friends I really want. Like, no shade to my broke friends. I love you. Just get your credit score together. I'll call you back. Like, I. Because that. I think your association. Like my grandma used to always say, bad association spoils useful habits. And when you change your association and start association associating with the type of people that are doing things that you want to do, Like, I don't want to be like her, but there's things that she does that I would like to know how to do. And that family knows how to do all those things that I want to know how to do. So teach me your ways. Teach me how to do it, and then I can adapt that. That fits me and my family.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you have five broke friends, you'll eventually be the sixth.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, you will. And they'll talk bad about you, too, and they'll drain your pockets dry. And I've learned that the hard way of fake ass.
DJ Envy
Damn it, man.
Tiffany Haddish
Now I'm sorry for Looking at you Envy when I said it, but you remind me of these light skinned.
Charlamagne Tha God
You're looking at his beard. That's the fake part. That's not his real hair. Sir, this is real hair, but it's not your real hair color.
Tiffany Haddish
Did you get it in turkey?
Host
Grab the hairline.
Tiffany Haddish
Envy, did you get that in turkey?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I didn't get it in turkey.
DJ Envy
This is my real head. He's good.
Charlamagne Tha God
Grab.
Host
Grab the hair color.
DJ Envy
Touch closer.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is that your real hair color?
DJ Envy
No, it's not my real hair color.
Lauren LaRosa
That's so messed up.
Tiffany Haddish
What's your real hair color?
Charlamagne Tha God
Silver.
Tiffany Haddish
Why don't you let that be? Why don't you let that silver roll? Well, women dye their hair, right?
DJ Envy
And nobody complains to them about it
Tiffany Haddish
because they like the way it looks. Yeah. But when men got that silver hair, that is sexy. Like, wisdom, knowledge, Like, I don't know.
DJ Envy
Well, my wife likes it like this, and I'm trying to.
Tiffany Haddish
Okay. Do whatever your wife like.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's what I like.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I'm sure she like washing them pillowcases too. But it doesn't die. Just a minute.
Charlamagne Tha God
Does not die.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, no. I saw you sweating one day, and it's dripping brown. That drip was kind of dark.
Host
You said a lot of people don't talk about the what happened after the Runway moment. Right. But they talked about the crashing moment. What was the phone call like when the brand called you to actually hire you to then come back on fashion?
Tiffany Haddish
I was crying. I was so honored. Cause that's something I always want. I'm literally just accomplishing goals that, like the things that my grandmother wasn't able to. My grandmother wasn't able to do Fashion Week right at that time, that wasn't like a thing that was possible. And so I'm accomplishing it. Like, I literally feel like I'm just. Just tying up all the loose ends for all my ancestors. That's what I feel like I'm doing these days, tying up loose ends.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's how I feel like. I feel like this cover is a statement about survival. Because it feels like your whole career, you just keep reinventing yourself after every public setback.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, setback to them. Growth. To me, it's an opportunity to grow. To me, if you don't grow from your mistakes, then what are you doing here? If you're gonna keep making the same dumb mistakes over and over, it's like, what are you doing?
DJ Envy
And when you were, quote unquote, canceled, who supported you the most during that? During those.
Tiffany Haddish
Me.
Charlamagne Tha God
She was Canceled when she was.
Tiffany Haddish
When was I cancelled?
DJ Envy
Because y' all talked about when people didn't mess with her and all that. But I never seen that.
Tiffany Haddish
Only. Only people that was canceling me was people that was jealous. That's how I feel.
Host
Which moment are you talking about?
Tiffany Haddish
Envy. Yeah. Yeah. Which mama. Because I've had many moments.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's not bring up nothing stupid that don't need to be real.
DJ Envy
I'm not bringing up no moments. But it was times where they said, that's why I didn't see, like, you know. Cause you said it was her way back when you said the COVID But I've never seen her as canceled. She's always did movies. She's always had sold out shows. So I didn't know what you mean by cancel when you said, yeah, I don't understand.
Tiffany Haddish
Does that just mean people don't like you at the moment? You know, which is. I mean, if everybody like you all the time, something wrong. Everybody didn't like Jesus all the time. So I don't expect everybody to like me. I don't expect everybody to love me. But I know that magazine sold out. I know it's hard to find. I know that's hard to find, especially in the black community and the white one. It's called the crossover, darling. And I'm very proud of that. And I'm sure there'll be people like, that'll see this, that'll try to, like, you know, tear me down. And that's fine. That's fine. Because I'm a tree. When somebody's like, oh, Tiffany, you a plant. You damn right I'm a plant. I've been in the dark a long time, and now I'm sprouting up and I'm about to be fruitful. And it's a lot of people eating off the fruits of these trees. They eating off the plant. They are, though. They are like, I'll do. Say something to tmz. And then people will make TikTok videos for weeks about that. And they're eating. They're eating off my fruit. You eating off of me. And I'm happy to feed the ecosystem. Allow I'm a shit. Don't be a fertilizer.
Lauren LaRosa
So while you ain't shit on niggas at the roast, I wanted you to get up there. I knew you was gonna give them about a hundred, girl.
Tiffany Haddish
Cause I'm a model now. I know I'm a Sports Illustrated cover model. My job as a model is to be pretty and don't talk.
Lauren LaRosa
But you was a comedian.
Tiffany Haddish
There was a lot of comedians on stage that didn't talk. Kreischer was sitting right there. Nobody said nothing.
Charlamagne Tha God
I didn't even know he was there.
Tiffany Haddish
He was there. He was there. Dwayne Martin was sitting there. Dwayne Martin was there. He wouldn't say nothing. See, what had happened was there are some people that got to present, that got to roast, that didn't want to be roasted.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
And so some of us had to be glorified sea fillers. I just was being a pretty model guys. I was modeling guys. And I had to pee really bad. And I don't know about you, when you have to pee, it's hard to hear. And it was long.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, it was too long.
Charlamagne Tha God
It was definitely long.
Tiffany Haddish
Too long. I got up in the middle of Kevin shit and went to go to the bathroom. I couldn't hold it no more. I couldn't hear nothing except for the part where when I saw the Rock tap his leg and tell him to cuss, sit on his leg. I almost ran over there and went and sat on his fucking leg. I'm like, I sit on this motherfucker.
Charlamagne Tha God
You. And the Rock came out. The way you was looking at him, you was like, damn. That's the first time you met him before?
Tiffany Haddish
Nah, I just been DTF for a long time. I've been trying since he been a wrestler, since he had a hairline, you know, I've been trying to get at that. I remember I ran into him one time at the doctor's office. He was there with his baby mama. They was getting, you know, like, ultrasound, whatever. And I had ran into them, and I was like, how can I steal him from her right now? There ain't no way to steal that man. I wanted to.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
He's part of my dreams. He's in my spank bank.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you manifesting him too?
Tiffany Haddish
Maybe. Maybe I can make his hair grow back if he let me sit on top of his head. Okay, Chad, I've been known to grow men's hair back.
Charlamagne Tha God
What was that cream you used? What was it? You had some concoction you used to.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, I had gave you the monistat mixed with the coconut oil. Yes, she did let me try this with coconut oil. That shit was working. It was working. It takes time.
DJ Envy
You try this other way.
Charlamagne Tha God
Correct. During COVID though, so you know, everybody. Hair was growing back. I'm like, damn, I got a boss.
Tiffany Haddish
Hey, yo, did it work?
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't remember. I tried it for a little bit, but I I ain't try it long enough.
Tiffany Haddish
You didn't try it long enough. It works. It works. I've seen a lot of that just come back. A lot of edges. Coconut oil monostat. Coconut oil monostat. Jojoba oil. Mix that together and then put it just like. Just put it on your edges. Daily. Daily. Before you go to bed at night,
Host
just let me know how that go.
Lauren LaRosa
I got you. I know, but I want some more.
Tiffany Haddish
You can mix it with castor oil, too. That really.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
Snap it in.
Charlamagne Tha God
So were you even scheduled to perform at the Rose at all?
Tiffany Haddish
No, I was actually scheduled to sit in the audience. I just wanted to sit in the audience and watch. Look, that's why I was dressed the way I was dressed. That's. I was like. It was cute, right? But it was, like, you know, audience attire.
Lauren LaRosa
No, you looked.
Tiffany Haddish
You looked real good.
Lauren LaRosa
You looked fly to me.
Tiffany Haddish
You looked fly. I thought you was gonna come up on the stage.
Charlamagne Tha God
How'd you end up on stage?
Tiffany Haddish
So the people that didn't wanna be roasted, that they wanted to roast Kevin, but they didn't wanna be roasted, they didn't sit down right. And so they left. And so they needed people to fill in on seats. So they asked me, and I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna support Kevin 110% no matter what. So even if it's just me sitting in the background and not saying nothing, I'm cool with that. I've been an extra before. Know how to do that.
Charlamagne Tha God
But everybody knows how close you and Kev are, so they just expect it. Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
Clearly, I don't know if we that close anymore. I don't. The number changed or something. The phone don't work. The phone don't work. Say, I hope you're doing all right. You know what I'm saying? Was green. Then I called, and when they was like, I was like, yeah, okay.
Host
After the Rose, you called. Oh, because all of the.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Encourage them. Make sure you're doing okay. Because I think. I don't know if people realize, like, a roast is designed to, like, demolish somebody, but they supposed to be raising money for charity. Usually that's what roast was about. Like, you raising money for some sort of charity. And then, like, you gonna get your feelings hurt, and it's going to be a lot of mean things said and done, but that's the way the roast go. But we're doing it for a good cause. And I get. I don't know what the good cause was on this one. Yes. Cause Netflix needed more money. Cause whatever. I don't know what the cause, but I just wanted to make sure he was okay. Because I've seen people come out of those roasts and be devastated. And so just. Just to be, you know, hey, I got your back, bro. If you need somebody to cry, too. You want me to call the goons on somebody? I got you. We can send goons to Texas, no problem. I got him there.
Charlamagne Tha God
I think Kev will be all right. He coming up here this week, actually.
Tiffany Haddish
He'll be fine. He's fine. He's fine. Yes. Yeah, it's like the number one show on Netflix right now. So he's fine. Yeah, he's just fine.
Lauren LaRosa
Billions of views.
Charlamagne Tha God
Did you. Did you and Cat speak? Because I know Cat had some things to say about you. Did you see him then later?
Tiffany Haddish
He didn't say nothing about me on it.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, no, not at the roast. But I'm just talking about previous.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, no, we didn't speak at that thing. But I've talked to him. Multitude of time. We talk on the phone. We cool?
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
We cool. You know, I'll be talking crazy sometimes, but we cool. I don't even say nothing that crazy. I don't say nothing crazy. You know, saying. He be saying crazy.
Host
Did any of the comedians who didn't get invited give you a call after the video with TMZ again?
Tiffany Haddish
It was like. They was like, you don't have to. You don't have to answer everything. You don't have to respond to every question that's asked. And I'm like, yeah, well, what was that?
Host
So she. TMZ had caught her out in New York, and they asked her about the Tony Hinchcliffe, George Floyd joke. And she said, I didn't even hear it.
Tiffany Haddish
I didn't hear the joke. And then she's like, but Loni Love was mad or whatever. And then I was like, well, I didn't know what to say. So I just said, loni was there.
Lauren LaRosa
Oh, no. Like, she just saw it. They tell her that she was there.
Tiffany Haddish
She said, there's a lot of people, like Loni Love, a lot of people, comedians that are upset about that joke. And then I didn't know what to say to that. Except for you started talking about a bunch of comedians that wasn't invited.
Lauren LaRosa
That weren't invited.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, so maybe they jealous. I don't know. I turned around and walked away. Cause I didn't know how to respond to that. I don't. I didn't even. I didn't even go back, play back and watch it. I stay off my social media because, you know, I think that's where the devil lives. And I'm not finna go to visit the devil house. And I know that people eat off of me. They, they, they, they, you know, I'm bearing fruit, clearly. And so they use my name and then I'm gonna see that. And then what? Then I'm gonna wanna show up to their house and whoop they ass. And I, I can't do that anymore. I'm a model.
Lauren LaRosa
Like you can't.
Tiffany Haddish
I'm a model. I can't do that. How?
Host
Tiffany hadd TikTok content about her from the rose and she didn't even say nothing at the rose.
Tiffany Haddish
Now one thing which tells you that I'm the shit I'm popping and they like me. They really like me.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you could talk to yourself from five years ago, what would you warn yourself about in regards to fame?
Tiffany Haddish
I would warn myself five years ago. So that was 2021. I would say you don't tell nobody you in a relationship ever again. Don't ever, don't ever, ever. Like if you sad about something and you want to have a drink, do that by yourself in the closet. Like never, never go nowhere to have a drink. Get your rest, get your rest because they're gonna be attacking you. So make sure you get your sleep and it's okay if you show up late to stuff because they'll wait for you.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I like that. I like all that.
Tiffany Haddish
That's what I would tell myself. They'll wait for you.
DJ Envy
Yeah, I don't know about the late one though. The late one might, might I actually
Lauren LaRosa
like the way she said that. That way.
Charlamagne Tha God
Because you always late.
Host
Do you physically actually mean late or you mean like what's frequent?
Tiffany Haddish
I mean physically late. I was born like two weeks late. I'm always late. I lie to myself by 45 minutes, 30 minutes, what time? I need to be somewhere so I could be on time. But sometimes it depends on what it is. But like, you know, they said to be here at 8:30.
Charlamagne Tha God
You was here?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I was here at 8:27.
Lauren LaRosa
So you getting better?
Tiffany Haddish
It's nine something.
Lauren LaRosa
But we still would have waited for you like you said.
Tiffany Haddish
See, you're a model. Because I'm a model. Can you believe it? Yeah, funny and a model, like it's crazy. So how have you. I just been doing press and I've been going on dates and so I've been eating good food and I, I went To New Jersey. And I hung out with very rich, very rich rich women that are like CEOs of companies, luxury brands and whatnot. And I got a massage and I learned about being a CEO and what it takes. And yeah, I celebrate by like, like gathering knowledge.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
I went to a party. I went to a Sports Illustrated party. It that was kind of. It was a party.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
You know, learn nothing new at the party. Yeah, I feel like true celebrations you get for me anyways is when I gather up new knowledge. Networking. Yeah. And I'm just looking for, you know, I'm enjoying being a single but in dating all the guys. But I just wish I could pull more intelligent men.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
What kind of guys are you pulling? Yeah, just pretty ones. Handsome.
Lauren LaRosa
Well, where are you meeting them? Where are you meeting handsome?
DJ Envy
Beefy, but just dumb.
Tiffany Haddish
Some of them dumb as hell.
Charlamagne Tha God
They be trying to be funny because it's you. Like, they meet you and think they gotta crack jokes and not realizing you. Much rather have a deep conversation.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, yeah. I don't even want to have a deep conversation. I just want to listen to them talk. Really. Mostly like I'm a model now, so I don't even want to talk anymore.
Host
Right, right.
Tiffany Haddish
I don't even want to talk when I'm getting paid to talk. Like at my new comedy shows that are coming up. I'm gon talk there. I'm gonna give my opinion there. But when I'm on dates, I'll be trying to be. I literally ask them questions and shut up and just listen and wait for them to ask me questions. But you could tell who's done because they don't ask questions.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, a good way to look at it.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
They're not trying. They just talking. Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
And they just talking about themselves.
DJ Envy
Feeling themselves.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, yeah. They dumb. I consider that dumb. Yeah, yeah. Cuz you. You don't know what I'm about. They don't. They just know the image that they see of Tiffany Haddish, but they don't know Tiffany Haddish, you know, not like how you know me, how you know me, like, but what's out in the public. They think they know that. They think they know me. You don't know shit.
Charlamagne Tha God
I'd be wondering about that. Would you? Have you ever felt like the industry wants Tiffany Haddish the character more than Tiffany Haddish the actual human?
Tiffany Haddish
Oh yeah, they definitely want more of the character. Well, somebody was telling me that. He told me, oh man, Tiffany, I can't date you. Cause you too Smart. I thought you was dumb, but you actually smart. And I can't date that. Like, I don't want to be with a smart woman. I prefer a dumb woman. So after you walked out and then I started. Oh, so you just wanna be dumb and dumber? That's what you want, right?
Lauren LaRosa
That's what you want?
Tiffany Haddish
Your life? You want dumb and dumber? Okay, well, I'll be watching. And I'm like, I'm outta here. But, yeah, that's how I feel. The industry is like, they want you to be dumb. Be as dumb as possible. Let us work you over. Let us do whatever. And then when you don't, then it's like, controversy. You know, we're gonna drag your name. And then I was like, well, you're really making me more popular, so I appreciate it.
Host
So your. Your stealth marriage, has that helped you walk away from situations like that?
Tiffany Haddish
You talking about this ring I had?
Host
Well, maybe you should explain to the people.
DJ Envy
Congratulations.
Tiffany Haddish
Thank you. You're engaged. Thank you.
DJ Envy
Oh, my gosh.
Tiffany Haddish
Yes. Engaged. No, I'm married. I'm married. I married now. Okay. It's not legal marriage, but it's in my mind. I'm married. Yeah. So I married myself. I went to Africa, and I. Basically, because I felt like, how can I expect somebody to want to marry me and make me happy if I don't know how to make me happy? And if I'm not willing to make commitments to myself and maintain those commitments to myself, how can I expect somebody else to do it? So I did a little commitment ceremony, a little marriage to myself, and I've been honoring my vows, and it's been great. It's an open marriage. So, you know, we welcome participants to our marriage. But I think since I've done that, it has really helped me to maintain boundaries and really helped me to, like, okay, do I. Because beforehand, I'll just be like, well, everybody want me to do this? I think it's something I should do, and I'll go do it. Right. But now I'm like, does how does this serve us? Yeah, how does it. How does this make me? Like, how would this help me in the long run? If. Is me being kind to these people and going ahead and doing these things, is that gonna help us, or is that helping them and depriving us? And so, because I think I got. I'm pretty sure I got multiple personalities. I haven't been diagnosed with it, but it feel like I do a little bit.
Charlamagne Tha God
What are some boundaries? You know, you had to set up
Tiffany Haddish
you know, you got multiple personalities. Me too.
Charlamagne Tha God
He's bi. If I'm by you, my level. What. What. What boundaries have you had to put up?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. So time. Like, there's so much time that I'll be outside, gotta go to bed, type of events that I'll go to, certain ones I just won't be bothered with, you know? Yeah. People want to honor me, and I love that they want to honor me. But how is that benefiting me? Or how's that really not necessarily me, but how's that benefiting the kids that I work with, the youth that I work with? Like, make it. Make it make sense for me to, like, invest that time. I don't. I love to travel, but I don't really like getting on airplanes and stuff. But I like being in the place when I get there. Right. So, like, I always say, like, I tell jokes. Jokes that. Me telling the jokes, that part is free. The travel part is the part I'm getting paid for. So if you can't give me the type of travel accommodations that I want, that I need to do my job, then I don't. I'm just not gonna do it.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Just simple shit.
Lauren LaRosa
How's it been? Was it hard for you to minimize your accessibility because people. A lot of people had access to
Tiffany Haddish
you, and, like, a lot of people still got access to me, but do I answer the phone? No.
Lauren LaRosa
Right.
Tiffany Haddish
I have my phone be on digital detox. You'll get that if I'm sleep, if I'm driving, or if the phone is on, do not disturb. And then you can leave me a message or you can call my team or my chief of staff and all those people. I got a chief of staff.
Lauren LaRosa
That's so good. So that is minimizing accessibility. Everybody can't call you anytime and get to you and request certain things. Everybody can't do that.
Tiffany Haddish
They could try. I mean, they could leave a message and that'll go to my chief of staff and they'll let you know what's up.
Lauren LaRosa
Was it hard doing that, though?
DJ Envy
People gotta be mad at you. Cause they probably had access to you for a long time, and now they can. Now people like you changed on me.
Charlamagne Tha God
You model now. You changed.
Tiffany Haddish
Yep. And I'll be like, yes, I have. I have changed, darling. Yes, yes. I'm on a whole nother level. Yesterday's price is not today's price. Yesterday's access is not today's access. You still have access. I'm communicating with you, but through my chief of staff. Because I'M a businesswoman now. I'm successful, and I don't have time to be this playing with everybody. You can't contact the CEO of your favorite, like, food brand just when you want to. So why you think you can just contact me whenever you want to? Or they'll be like, oh, I don't want to talk to your agents. I just want to book it through you. I don't know. You trying to me. That's what you're trying to. You're trying to use me, abuse me. You don't want to go through the channels that. Be that I look at you like a user, and then I really just. You know, you will always get the do not disturb. You will always get the digital detox. Because if you don't want to go through my team, then that means you're trying to do me dirty. That's how I feel. Or you're doing some shit. You ain't got no business. Or maybe you're not really vetted the way that you supposed to be.
Lauren LaRosa
Right?
Tiffany Haddish
So get out my face.
Charlamagne Tha God
Are you. Are you still trying to make people respect you or do you care?
Tiffany Haddish
I don't give a if they respect me or not. I don't care. I don't think I ever really cared that much. I think I care for like two seconds. And then I realized, like, I don't respect everybody, so why do I think everybody's supposed to respect me? I give everybody. I do give respect as soon as I meet you. And then that's. It dwindles down by your behavior.
Charlamagne Tha God
Is it hard making people respect you once they've decided who they think you are?
Tiffany Haddish
No, because they could think whatever they want to. I decided who I think they are. Guess what? I decided who I think you is, too. You don't give a. You over here eating off the fruits of my labor. You eating. You eating from my fruit trees. What do I think you is?
Lauren LaRosa
So who's the best eater?
Tiffany Haddish
The best eater?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah. You got any potential? I mean, because you said you've been dating.
Tiffany Haddish
Jesus Christ.
Lauren LaRosa
Do you have. I know y' all ain't talking all them crazy ass raunchy questions y' all be asking each other.
Tiffany Haddish
Cause they nasty.
Lauren LaRosa
Do you have, like, somebody that's in like. Like runner up? Like somebody that's getting closer, close to becoming your main.
Tiffany Haddish
No, but I have my. You know, I have my favorite. My little regular.
Lauren LaRosa
Okay, so you have.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, my favorite. You know, my expeller of the demons. My. That's who you're in your phone as expelling. No, he's not. He is not in my phone expelling demons. But I be with. I'll be like, yeah, he like my little drug of choice for right now.
Lauren LaRosa
And you're blushing. You're blushing.
Tiffany Haddish
Am I blushing?
Charlamagne Tha God
At least you said for right now.
Host
Right now you really be on it. It can come, it can go.
Tiffany Haddish
Yes. But you said, you said. You start talking too much, I be feeling like they stupid. I don't want. No problem.
DJ Envy
So you said you're dating. So how does he feel that you could be possibly dating somebody else? Is he cool with.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, he knows I'm dating.
Lauren LaRosa
Keep it a hundred.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, he knows.
DJ Envy
You jealous at all?
Tiffany Haddish
I ain't never disrespected him or did anything in his face. It's very respectful, you know? Yeah. We provide a service for each other.
DJ Envy
You allow him to date?
Tiffany Haddish
First of all, I can't make. I don't allow like he's a man, right? He doesn't live in my house. He's not my employee. He's. I have no authority over him.
DJ Envy
So are you going with him dating? I should say.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. It's none of my fucking business. That's what. That's none of my business. Yeah, it did it. We not making no commitments to each other. And then he not my boyfriend. I don't even want no boyfriend. I like men friends.
Charlamagne Tha God
How do you even trust them guys nowadays? Because you, you're Tiffany Haddish. How you know that they like you or they who you are?
Tiffany Haddish
Exactly. That's why. Just my fun for now. Damn, cuz, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know what your attention is. These men is like gold diggers too. They, they do better than women. I be learning from them. If somebody got you before. No, they ain't got me because I'll be, you know, I play broke. It's hard to get access to the money.
Lauren LaRosa
But what's crazy is it's like you go that way and then it's like dating you because you got to deal with people dating you because of your money. But then you don't want to date in the industry because it's like, ugh, it's too much competition.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. That's why you go like to tech. I've been on. I'm on farmersonly.com, you know, guaranteed farmers only. I heard about farmers. That shit be popping. They got land now you can eat off somebody. Guaranteed. This man got land, so. And he got knowledge. Guaranteed, cuz he know how to grow stuff. So if he don't got book knowledge, he guaranteed to have, like, nature knowledge. And, like, on a. On a. Like, he understands the weather and stuff. And, like, he could tell you about different soil types and, like, what. What manure goes good for. This plant that plant this. Need this much nitrogen, and that is sexy to me. Like, if we get caught in Armageddon, he gonna feed me. It's like, oh, he know how to slaughter animals. He could kill my enemies. They know. Oh, like, I don't know. Not like that. That's what you need. That's what I want.
Host
Crazy.
Tiffany Haddish
I did. I got. I get hot for the farmers only.
DJ Envy
That's what it's called. So is your picture.
Tiffany Haddish
That's a real thing.
Charlamagne Tha God
Set up an account, right? Can't wait to get him a farmer.
Tiffany Haddish
Wow. Farmers only.
State Farm Ad Voice 2
You've been working in the garage with your dad every week, Monday to Sunday, trying to get the old school up and running. Today, after all the hard work, y' all finally finished it. So you have that feeling of accomplishment. You did it. Then your dad throws you the keys and says those three magic words. All yours, son. Yep. That same car belonged to your grandpa and that your dad helped him fix. It's yours. Three generations right there, keeping the tradition alive. But if you ask dad to really keep the tradition going, you need to get insurance. And you already know you need to get State Farm. Because your agent, well, he gets tradition, too. His dad was an agent, his grandpa, too. So he gets you. Generation to generation. Remember to choose the agents that your family counted on. Like a good neighbor. State Farm is dead.
DJ Envy
Yo, what up, y'?
Tiffany Haddish
All?
DJ Envy
It's DJ Envy from the Breakfast Club. Now check this out. The first phone call that ever happened happened over 150 years ago. 150 years. That's before any of this. Before radio, before social media, before all the ways we stay connected. Today, that one call really started everything. And fast forward to now. It's springtime, the weather's breaking, people outside vibes are right again. Thank God. And it got me thinking. Who haven't you talked to in a minute? And, you know, through all these years and all these conversations, AT&T has been there, connecting people in meaningful ways. This is more than a story of technological innovation. It's really a story about human connection. Real people, real moments, and real relationships. So we celebrate over 150 years of connection. Let this be your reminder. Don't wait. Make that call.
Tiffany Haddish
Send that text.
DJ Envy
Pull up on somebody you care about. Because at the end of the day, those connections that's what really matters.
Host
Connecting changes everything.

Hey y', all, what's up? It's Eloy and LaRosa. And I used to think that if something worked for everybody else, it should work for me too. So I was just layering products on, trying every routine I saw online and my hair just, just stayed dry, undefined. And honestly, it was frustrating. It felt like I was doing everything right but getting no results. What I had to unlearn is that hair isn't one size fits all. Once I started focusing on my hair and what I actually needed, everything changed. My hair felt softer, stronger, and I finally started seeing real growth. That's why I love Baskin Leather. Their products are made specifically for textured hair and you can feel the difference. The stimulating scalp and hair bomb keeps my hair hydrated without the heavy greasy feel and it helps reduce breakage while adding shine. And the hydrating hair mist. Oh, it's perfect for keeping my curls soft, detangled and refreshed, especially in protective styles. I have thick textured hair that leans very dry. So moisture and strength are everything for me and I've definitely seen an improvement in both even their before and after results. Thoughts. You can tell it's real growth and healthier hair and I love the fact that it's a black owned, family operated brand that started from a real need and real care. Explore viral bestsellers and products of healthier hair for all types from Baskin lather. Go to baskinlatherco.com and use code breakfast club for 20 off. Host
This website says it results in millions of members having successful relationships and several weddings every week of the year. Like Dave. So you gonna settle down with your former boo?
Tiffany Haddish
You know I pay attention to different celebrities experiences and like their dating thing. Like I really like Dolly Parton's situation. We never really saw her husband. We don't know what he looked like or nothing. When he passed, she let us know he passed. But he wasn't all in the mix and all trying to, like, blow up. And he was a farmer. He took care of the land and all that. And, you know, the whole. Even the definition of husband is to. Means to till, to cultivate, and to grow something, Right? Grow the family. So why not get one that's already, like, you know, got land? Also, he. That means he got something to lose, too. So.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, his morals are different.
Tiffany Haddish
Way different. And he know how to deal with. He understands femininity because, you know, in nature, that's what you're dealing with, you know? Yeah. So if I'm like, I. I'm not feeling good, my cycle messed up, whatever. Oh, okay.
Lauren LaRosa
He knows how to nurture, cater to you all that.
Tiffany Haddish
He take care of cows. He could take care of me.
Charlamagne Tha God
Now, what about outside of the race? Are you dating other than black?
Lauren LaRosa
I was literally about that.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm dating humans.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, humans. But now that I know there's aliens, I'm interested in that, too.
Lauren LaRosa
I know.
Tiffany Haddish
That's right. Hello. That's what that outer space d do. But I'm into humans mostly. I mean, I said predominantly black men is what I'm predominantly outside with if I'm going outside.
Lauren LaRosa
But babyfarmersonly.com you keep. Amazing.
Tiffany Haddish
That's how Jessica met her.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's how Jess met her. Mexican on farmers.com.
Lauren LaRosa
no, I did not.
Tiffany Haddish
No, I did not. She met him on Cinco de Mayo. Shut up. No, I did not. Mexican, black and Mexican. Where did you meet your boo?
Lauren LaRosa
In Baltimore, Maryland, on Taco Tuesday?
Tiffany Haddish
No, it was at a restaurant. What day was. It was at a restaurant. I don't know what day it was.
Lauren LaRosa
February 23, 2023, though. I don't know what day that was, but that's where I met him. And he wasn't eating tacos. I was eating cribs. He was.
Tiffany Haddish
I don't even remember what he ate.
Lauren LaRosa
No, I ain't eating nothing. It don't matter.
Host
He was at the bar.
Charlamagne Tha God
He walked to the restaurant himself.
Tiffany Haddish
So was that like a blind date or. It was just like. You just happened to meet him?
Lauren LaRosa
No, I was there, and he had walked in and met some other people at the end of the bar. And I saw him. I spotted him first, and I was like, oh, yeah, I'm trying to get with him. So I offered to buy him a shot. And he was like, I don't drink. And he was just talking with his cousins or whatever, and I got real drunk. And so I got up, went to the bathroom, and I was stumbling. I was Like, I hope he noticed watching me walk to the bathroom. And I looked back and he wasn't. And so when I went to the bathroom and came back out, he wasn't trying to leave until he got my number and was like, I wanna take you out on a date. I really wanna get to know you. I was like, okay. And that was it.
Charlamagne Tha God
Interracial relationships can work.
DJ Envy
And February 21st was Tuesday Taco.
Host
Tuesday, February 23rd.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, my bad, my bad.
Host
Shut up, idiot.
Lauren LaRosa
So, yeah, that's how that happened.
Host
You said you go outside with the predominantly black man, so everybody else you only inside with.
Tiffany Haddish
Well, they take me places, like to vineyards and, you know, trips. That part. Right. So we outside, but we not outside outside.
Host
Gotcha.
Tiffany Haddish
You know, we're having experiences.
Lauren LaRosa
I love it.
Tiffany Haddish
A castle, you know, experiences. I'm about that life.
Charlamagne Tha God
Cause you're a model now.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Cause I'm a model now. I don't know if you know this. I'm a swimsuit cover model. I identify as a 21 year old sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model. That's how I identify.
Lauren LaRosa
Definitely look good.
Charlamagne Tha God
I like this for you because you always spend a lot of your time and energy spreading joy and making other people feel joy. So I like hearing you celebrate yourself about this and I know you wanted that.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I did want it.
Charlamagne Tha God
I like to see that.
Tiffany Haddish
Thank you. Thank you. I'm gonna get everything I want.
Charlamagne Tha God
What else is on your. Your mood board?
Tiffany Haddish
So a studio. I want a studio. The grocery store, which I think we're gonna end up opening up in Prince George county before in la Cuz. And there's black farms. Yes. And it's a gang. Gang of. It's a gang of farmers over there. Black ones, like I said, vineyards and whatnot. Yes. Also. And that's. So that's on my vision board. And then I want, I want, I think I want my breast bigger.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know you too influenced by Dolly Parton. You need your breath bigger.
Tiffany Haddish
I just think I fill out my clothes better, so I think I want them bigger. But I don't want to get a surgery because I don't believe in surgeries like that unless it's like life threatening. So I'm just going to manifest. I'm going try to train my body to grow bigger titties, but still keep a flat stomach in a nice way, you know, nice waistline, bigger titties, do it natural.
Charlamagne Tha God
I must, I must, I must increase my.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I did that back in the 1900s and I was yoked. I was like very Strong and all city and shot put, but I want, like, breasts. So my homegirl said that means I gotta get pregnant. I'm like, I'm with it. Whatever.
Host
That's what I thought you were about to say, that you were gonna manifest, like, meet your farmer, settle down, get pregnant, and then, I don't know.
Tiffany Haddish
I might be too old to be getting pregnant, but I'm gonna practice. Nah. All right. But I am 21, so anything's possible.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. I did do this thing. I went to this thing called WonderHealth. And they do, like, all these biometrics on your whole body, and they, like, have you run on a machine and do all this stuff and lift weight. All these things they have you do, and they take your blood. And basically my Biomarker says I'm 25 years old.
State Farm Ad Voice 2
Oh, wow.
Lauren LaRosa
That's what's up.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. So my body's 25.
Lauren LaRosa
You're taking care of yourself in case.
Tiffany Haddish
If any of you men out there is, you know, not into women in their upper years. My body 25.
Charlamagne Tha God
Just so you know, trans 25 is crazy. Identified as 25.
Tiffany Haddish
I identify as a. I identify as 21, but my body identifies as 25.
Lauren LaRosa
That's right.
Tiffany Haddish
My mind is 21. I'm dumb. For any of you men out there that I play dumb good. I could do it when I'm around you. I'll be dumb when I'm around you, but when I'm around away from you, I'm gonna be smart.
DJ Envy
There you go.
Charlamagne Tha God
Did success ever become overwhelming for you at a point?
Tiffany Haddish
Some days it is overwhelming. Some days you forget. Like, I be forgetting I'm successful and I be one of the Molly Wap bitches. But I learned that you can't fight everybody. But you can offer them a check and whip they ass off that check. But you shouldn't do that. That's bad. That's bad work and violence is bad. So even though that's what this country was built on, but we don't do that no more. Right, America? So success can be difficult. And sometimes I miss being financially challenged. But then I remember all the good things that I'm able to do with the success that I have. I was able to take care of my grandma, I'm taking care of my mom. I'm doing stuff for my family, like. And to see them thriving because of my success, it makes it all worth it.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, you've been. You've been famous long enough to see so many sides of the industry. Right? Like. Like, what's more dangerous in Hollywood. Rejection or the fake love?
Tiffany Haddish
The fake love is so dangerous. That's the most dangerous. That is the most dangerous thing. Like everybody don't love you and it's very temporary. It's fake. And when you up, you up. And when you down, you down. And then they act like they, they act like they never hated on you, but they did. And I'm like an elephant. I'm gonna remember all of that. Yeah, the fake love is the most dangerous. Rejection is protection. All rejection is protection. I feel like.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know, and people always like to say, they like to be like, oh, Tiffany, Tiffany, she does too much, you know, her energy is too much.
Tiffany Haddish
And they, and they energy ain't enough. They sitting at home fat and sloppy and looking crazy. House probably dirty as hell, probably got roaches and shit. Can't keep a man. Neither are you keeping a man. But that man also is a community activist. He out here doing stuff throughout the whole community. So fuck you.
Host
That ready for somebody.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why do you think people be so uncomfortable with like, like just you being joyful?
Tiffany Haddish
Because they're not joyful. Because they don't have no joy in their life. You know, some people are sometimes uncomfortable with things that they not used to or accustomed to or, and, or jealous of. Like, I know I got into it with this one lady, she's you know, Harvard graduate, got her master's degree and all this stuff. And she's been, you know, in the industry for 30 years trying to make it and it ain't hit for her. And she basically cussed me out. Like, you know, you out here being ghetto and you being this and you being that and there's no fear. And I'm like, I'm just being myself, right? I'm literally being myself. If you mad at me for being myself, you need to take that up with God. Cuz God made me this way and people appreciate me being myself. And while, you know, oh, there's a whole bunch of people like me, good now they see themselves and they should. And there's a whole bunch of people like you that's doing TV shows and all that too. And you just mad at me cuz I, I'm accessible maybe. And you seeing me shine and you seeing me get all the things that I want. And you're not getting nothing you want because you're steady operating in negativity and disbelief in yourself. You so busy worrying about what I'm doing and not believing in yourself and doing the work to get you where you need to be. And so busy being fake that, hey, you're not getting there. Why don't you just be you? Maybe you a raggedy. Raggedy bitches are popping right now.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I mean, they popping right now.
Tiffany Haddish
I see on the Internet they look like they popping.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know, it's just funny to me because I. I know you and I know how much you care about black people. Right?
Tiffany Haddish
A lot.
Charlamagne Tha God
And how much you want to do for black people. When I hear people be like, ah, Tiffany Haddish is the coon. I'm like, do you really know Tiffany Haddish?
Tiffany Haddish
They don't.
Charlamagne Tha God
How did that make you feel when you hear that?
Tiffany Haddish
I'd be laughing. I'd be like, they don't know me. That's somebody that just saw one little thing. They didn't see the whole thing. Or that's somebody that's mad that, you know they not doing what I'm doing. Or it's somebody that's eating off the fruits of my labor and they're just saying that so they can get people to watch them and then they can get to eat. Because then people, them people. I've. I've like, you know, I've rolled up on several of those people that make videos about me and talk about me and they be like shocked that I done rolled up so happy. They love me. They be in love. They be in love with me.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know. It was several.
Tiffany Haddish
Several.
Charlamagne Tha God
One.
Tiffany Haddish
Several. I've rolled up on several people. Don't. Don't you think you're gonna sit up and talk about me all day and I'm not gonna show up. Up.
Charlamagne Tha God
How you find out now?
Tiffany Haddish
I'm like, you manifested me. Hello. You kept talking about me. God sent me over here to find out what's really going on.
Charlamagne Tha God
You went to their house.
Tiffany Haddish
I might have went to a house. I might have showed up to a job. I might have showed up to an event.
DJ Envy
Jesus.
Charlamagne Tha God
But what happened when they showed up?
Tiffany Haddish
They loving on me. They love me. They really be in love with me.
DJ Envy
You know, I just be playing.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. You know, I'm just trying to just earn a living. Tiff, you know I don't mean none of that stuff. I'm saying I know who you really is. I see what you really doing. Well, why you not talking about what I'm really doing? Why you gotta talk about this stuff that don't even make no sense. That's not even true. It talk about the truth with, shoot, you know, I gotta make my money. I'm trying to make money Damn. And it's money and the negativity. Yeah, hello. That the Kevin Hartroast wouldn't be killing like it is if nobody wasn't making no crazy ass negative jokes. That's why I'm about to start being negative. No real talk.
Lauren LaRosa
You're a model.
Charlamagne Tha God
I know.
Tiffany Haddish
I could be a negative model.
Host
You smile a lot to me. You can't be be negative.
Tiffany Haddish
I could be negative. I could be like, you know, why did we impeach a president who got his dick sucked? But we're not doing anything about this one with felonies.
Lauren LaRosa
I love it with the smile and a little twinkle. It's different. Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
What's going on? What's up with that?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, what's up with that?
Charlamagne Tha God
You ever feel like social media has ruined celebrity? Because now people don't want just entertainers. They want access. They want you to be vulnerable. They want you to be make confessions. They want you to apologize. They want you to do all that.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. They feel like they are not obligated. I feel like some people think that you owe them an apology or you owe them an explanation for why you made the choices you made or why you did what you did. I really don't owe none of y' all nothing. Especially if you ain't never bought a ticket to a comedy show. I really feel like I don't owe you a motherfucking name. Like, if you don't think I'm funny, I definitely don't owe you anything. If you didn't buy a book or support in some way or buy a ticket to a movie, I don't owe you. I really don't. And if you want an explanation, come to a comedy show. And they're the last 20 minutes of my set. I say, any questions? And you can ask the question and I'll answer it.
DJ Envy
You do that at the cell. You open up the mics for people.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. At the end of this, near the last 20 minutes, I go, any questions? This is your opportunity to ask me anything you want to ask me.
Lauren LaRosa
Yo, what is the craziest question you ever got?
Tiffany Haddish
Somebody.
Lauren LaRosa
You got some crazy.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, somebody gonna ask me some crazy once asked me if I ever had an std. I'm like, what? Yeah. And I'm like, have you had std? And. But yeah, I've had many yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis. I feel like they come from bad dick, community dick. That's what I feel like. So somebody asked me one time, would I be willing to go to their wedding if I would show up to their wedding. And if I would help them pay for it. And I said no, you'd show up.
Charlamagne Tha God
I can see you.
Tiffany Haddish
I will show up. I show up to a wedding, I'll roll up to a wedding. I love a celebration. But I'm not gonna help you pay for this. No, I'm not gonna pay for no. Cause y' all gonna get divorced anyways.
DJ Envy
Damn.
Tiffany Haddish
Damn, sis. No optimism, statistically speaking. Damn. Oh, it ain't working out. These. I mean, well, no, it'd be better off just, you know, let's. I don't even want to get like. I don't want to ever get married again. I've been married before. I would rather just get like a trust fund. We buy a building together, get the trust, put our rules of engagement, our rules to our relationship in a trust. If we have kids, then the kids get to eat off of that building. If we don't have kids and we decide we don't want to be together, just, you know, sell the building, split the money halfway. If you go your way, I go my way.
Lauren LaRosa
But it doesn't have to be a full on marriage
Tiffany Haddish
because men are. Yeah, man, I love me and they my favorite. I know, but damn.
Lauren LaRosa
But obviously a lot of them up
Charlamagne Tha God
that did you dirty like, could you be monogamous? Could you be with one man?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, yeah, easy. Do they. Do they quad. The men that I've been meeting qualify for that? No, I mean, it's too many community activists. I need a good farmer.
DJ Envy
There you go.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, I think, I think the right farmer could make you settle down.
Tiffany Haddish
Wants to till his land. You know, don't want to be on everybody else farm. He just work on his farm. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
What scares you more now? Failure or success Coming with even more pressure.
Tiffany Haddish
Neither one of those scare me. Failure is the opportunity to be more successful. Failure is a way to learn to not like and to be an example to others of what not to do. I don't mind failing. I dare to fail. That means I took a chance. That means I went for it. And you know, you can't win anything if you don't dare to fail. Am I going in on purpose to fail? No. Do I want the best opportunity? I try to set up the best for myself to win. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna win. And I'm okay with not winning. I'm okay with that success. Yeah. I ain't scared of that either. I could be. Who knows? Maybe I'll be the president. I'd be interested.
Charlamagne Tha God
Has. Has success been Everything you thought it was going to be.
Tiffany Haddish
No, success is definitely not what I thought. I thought success was going to be like so much easier and like super relaxed and super chill and like I'm getting spoiled every day. But it's not, it's not that success is work. It's weightlifting. It's, it's, it's wearing a weighted vest at all times and it's like 100 pound weighted vest. It's heavy. You gotta be strong to carry success. Everybody ain't built for it. That's why, why people fall off. That's why people disappear. They end up in rehabs, they end up just on, just strung out, up in bad situations. Because success is heavy. Everybody ain't built for it and you have to train for it. If it comes overnight, it's, it will, it will fall off overnight. But if it comes over a long period of time, just like any, like a good football team or great track runners, like if you do the work and build your body up to handle it, you'll be able to carry it forever.
Host
How has your sobriety journey helped you deal with all of that?
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, you know what, being sober, like, okay, so I'm California sober. So what?
Lauren LaRosa
I mean, California sober.
Tiffany Haddish
You know what that means, girl? You know what that means? You know? Yeah, I own a marijuana line. I drink my weed, eat my weed and smoke my weed. But no alcohol has really changed the game. First of all, super easy for the weight to come off. And I can hear now. I can hear a lot of things now, things I didn't notice before. People's true intentions. You could see what they really doing. I could see so much better now because I think alcohol makes you deaf. It makes you blind, it makes it hard for you to communicate, it makes it hard for you to be present. And without drinking any alcohol, I'm seeing like I can see people's hearts. I can see your soul. I know who really hate me inside, but they want to eat and I'm okay with them eating. I'm okay, but I can see the intention. I can hear it. I. What I'm paying attention. I pick up the little nuances of things and I know how to move in a space and, and I'm just like really grateful and really kind of disappointed in myself forever starting to drink in the first place, you know, Even though I didn't like when I drank, I drank, but I didn't drink every day. But when I did drink, I did drink and, and it made me wake up next to ugly people and I Have not woken up next to nobody ugly in four years. It's been really great. It's been an awesome experience. To be like, oh, I'm laying down with this person because I want to lay down with this person. I want to be with this man. Like, not. Because it's just like, oh, he got me. Oh, yeah. Like, yeah, yeah. It's because I want to.
Charlamagne Tha God
You said something just now that I want you to expound on because it's really good. You said you are okay with the haters eating. Yeah, I. I have a reason for that, but go ahead. Why do you say that?
Tiffany Haddish
Well, they are the best promoters, and if they eat. If they get to eat, they're gonna. They're gonna promote more. They'll try to hide they hate. They be trying to hide it. So they act like they cool with you, and it's. They'll be defending you even better. Yeah, like, I've. I've witnessed it. That's like, off the 48 laws of power, you know? Keep your enemies, keep your friends club, was it. Keep your enemies close. Well, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Right? Because your enemies will tell on your friends, because your friends are. They'll. They'll fucking stab you in the back. They'll do some dirt like, in that. And that hurts even more. But yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you got to give your haters something to eat. So the more they eating, that mean the more successful you are.
Tiffany Haddish
That. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Exactly. I mean, yeah, they can't. If you don't give them nothing, then there's nothing that. Yeah, you're not doing nothing. I'm definitely doing things. So keep it. Keep up the hate haters. And I'm gonna keep up the work. And we're gonna eat. We're making an ecosystem. I'm a farmer.
Lauren LaRosa
Right, right.
Host
Bump it up.
Tiffany Haddish
Bump, bump, bump.
State Farm Ad Voice 2
Shit.
Host
When you talk about your choice to be sober, I know you did that back when all of the, like, DUI stuff was happening, Right? And I know that your team recently filed for that to be dismissed, because four years later, you're still going through that trial for that case.
Tiffany Haddish
I want a trial. I've been begging for a trial. I done bought all these plane tickets flying down to Georgia. I kind of. Georgia has become, like, a place I kind of hate now. And I used to love it, but now I kind of like. Cause the way they do their laws is ridiculous to me. And I keep flying down there, keep showing up to the courtroom, and then they just, oh, we're going to postpone it to another day. Postpone, postpone, postpone. Were you wasting my money? You wasting my time? These lawyers is getting to eat like crazy, which is fine, I guess, but, like. And then, you know, the judge is, like, running for office again and try to get. You know, they're like, I just feel some type of way about it. I'm like, I've. I have never in my career being arrested. And I've been arrested a lot of times. Had to wait four years for a trial.
Host
And it's a misdemeanor, right?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Why do you want to go to travel and misdemeanor?
Tiffany Haddish
Because really, I want that to be gone. Because it don't make no sense. I was in my driveway, walking into my house.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, I didn't know that. Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
I was walking into my house, bro. So, like. Really?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
And then on that same. I would. If they released the video. Y' all see, because on the same video, at the top of the video, they really. They let some white man park his car in the thing and take a Uber home. But you wanna arrest. I'm at my house.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you was in. So who called? Somebody called the police on you?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, they called the police on me. Cause I was on the side of the road. I was crying and shit on the side of the road.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's normal for you?
Tiffany Haddish
That is normal for me. That is normal for me. And I might have took a nap. That is normal for me.
Host
I'm trying to say the way it was recorded was, like, way different than they said.
Tiffany Haddish
I was at the light. I wasn't at the light. I wasn't at the light. I was on the side of the road. And a man did come up to my window, said, you ain't supposed to be in these parts. What you doing over there? Here, you best get up out of here. And I was like. I was just crying like it. And I took off, you know, pull into my driveway. I'm walking in the house with my little white dog. They let. They let me walk the dog. They walked the dog with me. One of them picked up the dog poop got. Put it in the trash and everything. They let me in. They let me go in the house, put food and water in the dog's bowl and stuff and put the dog in the house. And then they handcuffed me and took me to jail.
Lauren LaRosa
Why sound like the guy? Why you make the guy sound like a slave? He said, you best get out of here.
Tiffany Haddish
He did sound like a slave. It's Georgia, girl. He sounded like that. You Best get up out of here.
Lauren LaRosa
So what he was doing over there then?
Tiffany Haddish
I don't know, girl. I don't know. He pulled up, jumped out of his car and said, I best get up out of. I thought he was walking.
Host
I saw your team say you're losing money from jobs, though, because of this case.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I don't know why they said that because I don't think that's the truth. I think they said that because I will postpone a job. I will not work a day to fly all the way to Georgia to show up for my case. And then the case isn't being heard, it's being postponed to the next. To the next. So that's. That is hurting my pockets. Flying. I keep. I keep on flying out here. I don't make best friends with all the flight attendants on Delta. We be kicking it. I love it. Like, they. My favorite. But at the same time, this is like a waste of time. Like, let's get it over with already. I'm about to do. Can I tell you a secret? It's not a secret.
Charlamagne Tha God
They going to get you in the.
Tiffany Haddish
I don't know if it's gonna get me in trouble, but maybe it might. I don't know. But I've been working with the DA's office in California, in Los Angeles, and we getting ready to come up with a whole campaign on. On the benefits of not drinking. Cause, like, if you think about. If you really think about, like, all these cases that are in court, every time you've ever, like, had an issue in life or a problem with somebody, alcohol is nine times out of ten involved. If you're. Maybe you're the one drinking, maybe you're not. Maybe it's the other person that's drinking. But usually it's alcohol involved in a lot of those cases that they have. Have not even. It don't even be like, DY be like domestic violence. It'd be child abuse. It'd be theft. It'd be whatever. Alcohol is usually involved in it. So, like, we getting ready to do like, a whole campaign together and like, you know, just. Just bring that awareness because I don't think people notice it. They think, like, oh, we drinking and celebrating. We celebrating. But what does that lead to?
Host
Or when you say, like, when you try and get through something, too, like you.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Drinks. You try to get through it. Like, yeah. Which I've done.
Host
I mean, you were crying in the car.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
And. But you know, what if I smoke weed and I'm sad. Hey, baby, I'LL be feeling much better. Don't be having no problems. And don't be having no problems communicating and no problems going right to bed.
Host
And then that when you get right to sleep.
Tiffany Haddish
Right to bed. Right to sleep. And I'm aware as hell. I'm paranoid a little bit. So I'm looking at everything. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's talk about some movies I saw. You was at the Cannes Film Festival when you wasn't.
Host
No, it was just announced so that you got two.
Charlamagne Tha God
Two drums.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, my. My movies were there. I wasn't there. You said you was at the Cannes Film Festival. I'm like, I wasn't in France because I would be with a French man right now. No, my movies. Yes. The Deputy.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's that about?
Tiffany Haddish
The Deputy is about a young. A young white male who becomes a deputy in a small town. And I'm like the main deputy. I'm like the boss or the assistant right under the boss. And the boss is doing some dirt, and he's doing some dirt. And then. Yeah. And it's work.
Charlamagne Tha God
And it was written by a person that did Narcos and Griselda.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, it's good. It's really good.
Charlamagne Tha God
And then Jack Nicholson is in that one, too.
Tiffany Haddish
Jack Nicholson's son. Grandson is in there. Yeah, his grandson is starring in it. And he does such a good job. And I'm just like, wow. I really. You know, to be honest, I took that part cause I thought he was gonna introduce me to Jack Nicholson, but I see. I gotta just get some Laker tickets to sit on the floor if I want to meet him.
Charlamagne Tha God
And you're an executive producer of that one?
Tiffany Haddish
Yes, I am.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay. And then it's another one called A Girl in the Room. River.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, the. Yeah, the Girl in the River. So that's a. That's a. I play a FBI agent and. Yeah. And it's. It's. Yeah, it's got a lot of suspense and. Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
You with the Karate Kid.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. Ralph Machi on. We do a scene or two together, and it's like. It's kind of full circle. Cause back in the day, we did a sketch for Funny or Die together where I was a hooker and he was. Was himself, and now he's a doctor and I'm a FBI agent. Wow. And it's kind of dope.
Lauren LaRosa
How was it doing, your first suspense movie?
Tiffany Haddish
Was it my first suspense girl? I'll be doing movies. You got to check my. You got to check the roster. Sure do. I got a couple of suspenseful movies. It's not my first. Like, it's like you saying, girl, is this your first time dating a football player? Girl, not my first.
Host
You shaking like you got him already.
Charlamagne Tha God
Apple. The after party.
Tiffany Haddish
The after party, that's like a. Yeah, that's like a drama, comedy, suspense.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah, but this one involved no comedy at all.
Tiffany Haddish
This is no comedy at all. Just straight up. Just straight up in. And I've done movies like that before, like the Kitchen. But this, this one, I mean, it was fun. I enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure I stressed out the director because it was like, you know, some of the words are not really in my vernacular and I had to really practice few things and I might have been delayed in some moments. And. And just not being funny. Like, just being really straight on. And he's like, stop being funny. And I'm like, I'm not. I'm not funny. Like, the Internet just said, I'm not funny. What are you talking about? Like, what are you talking about? I'm not funny.
Lauren LaRosa
And.
Tiffany Haddish
And so just like bringing my cadence back and just dialing things down a lot, which I notice when I do dial things down a lot, people think something wrong, so you can't win. Just like the Wiz.
Charlamagne Tha God
But I think that's where. That's your sweet spot, though. I think the dramas and the suspense is where people gonna be like, damn, she really good on that screen.
Tiffany Haddish
I am. I'm the shit on the screen.
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I love that.
Charlamagne Tha God
Do you like expressing? Are you. Are you using the trauma as fuel through comedy or drama better?
Tiffany Haddish
I use the trauma better through the comedy, but it does work in the drama. It. It's just I get sometimes caught in my feelings. And also I get bored a little bit sometimes with drama. And I have to remember that it's okay to be bored. I don't like that feeling. But sometimes I get bored because it's very. You know, we're talking with low voices and we're looking at each other in the eyes and we're just saying what we're saying, and then we say what we say and it's like, what the fuck? I wanna move. I wanna do something, but we gotta stay in a box and just, you know, straight face. No, don't. Don't furrow your eyebrow. Don't this, don't that. Like. And it's like, ah. But I talk with expression. I talk with my whole face. Like, I talk with everything.
DJ Envy
So what do you prefer comedy?
Tiffany Haddish
Comedy? Cause it's easier for me. A lot of. But dramatic actors that I work with said I could never do comedy. It's just too much. But I feel like comedy, if you just base it in reality and then amp that up times 10. Which I guess that's why people say, like, Tiffany, do too much. Cause I'll be in reality, but my reality is times 10. And that's a lot for some people.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's up with the Flo Jo movie? Yeah, I can't have the body and not going.
DJ Envy
I know.
Tiffany Haddish
Well, see, we working out. Got to get that script right, get the script right and then boom. But I don't know, some, some people think I'm too old to play Flo Joe. Some representatives I was working with, this guy, he's like, yeah, my, my team said, you're, you're too old to be Flo Jo. You know, she passed at 38 and you're 46. I said, yeah, but my body identifies 25. Right.
Charlamagne Tha God
So.
Tiffany Haddish
And I identify as 21. And these, these dudes that be trying to date me think I'm 30. So what are you talking about? And then he was talking that mess and I'm like, look, I just watched that show, is it called Winning Time about the Lakers. And like, yeah, and them dudes was in there, 50 years old playing 32 year olds, you know what I'm saying? And they, and these white people can play these roles where they're like, you know, they in their 60s and they playing 20 year olds. Like, what the hell? Like, are you gonna sit here and tell me like, well, you know, yeah, those are men. No, no, no, no, no. Because there are white women as well that I have seen. And some of them are my favorite actresses, but I've seen them, they in their 50s and 60s and they're playing 20 and 30 year olds. So like, and with the technology today, you can't sit up here and tell me I can't pull this roll off. I definitely can pull it off. She, from where I'm from, we had the same kind of mentality. Now granted, she didn't cuss like I cuss, but, you know, it's a different time when she grew up. But I would probably be doing nails and hair and all that if I wasn't doing stand up. Because comedy.
Charlamagne Tha God
My last question, when you look at your career now, do you feel misunderstood, underestimated are exactly where you're supposed to be?
Tiffany Haddish
Well, in my heart, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. But if I turn around and sit back from where the world is looking, I think I'm underestimated They don't know what they dealing with. It's okay. I'm gonna show you good.
Charlamagne Tha God
I feel like the best is yet to come. Tiff.
Tiffany Haddish
Oh, yeah, it's coming.
DJ Envy
Word.
Tiffany Haddish
She coming through?
Charlamagne Tha God
Absolutely.
Tiffany Haddish
You gonna get on the train? You gonna work with me? What?
Charlamagne Tha God
What you mean? You already know that for life. What are you talking about?
Tiffany Haddish
You stop rapping.
Charlamagne Tha God
Questions.
Tiffany Haddish
Last time Tiff came up here, she
DJ Envy
did the rap album, right?
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah, I got. I gotta. Like, I'm about to drop a whole album, a new one, a whole situation.
DJ Envy
Okay.
Tiffany Haddish
Yeah. However, I gotta. I just shot a music video with Jadakiss. I didn't like. I didn't like the video that much. I feel like it was too many ugly people in it.
Lauren LaRosa
But damn.
